Abstract
Lupus erythematosus panniculitis, also known as lupus profundus, is a variant in the clinicopathological spectrum of lupus erythematosus (LE) affecting about 2%-3% of LE patients. A linear configuration of LE panniculitis has been reported rarely with rare reports describing the coexistence of different forms of cutaneous LE and localized morphea. In this study, the authors present a 9-year-old girl with linear arrangement of subcutaneous nodules on her left forearm. Microscopic findings from 2 biopsies included lymphocytes at the dermoepidermal junction with mild interface dermatitis, a dense lymphocytic infiltrate that was concentrated around adnexae and subcutaneous fat in concert with thickened collagen bundles and mild widening of fibrous septae surrounding fat lobules. Although the clinical differential diagnosis included panniculitis or a sporotrichoid infection, 1 biopsy showed a dense lymphocytic infiltrate histologically bordered on that of cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia or a late stage of Lyme disease, and a second also demonstrated more prominent sclerodermoid collagen bundles rendering the diagnosis of linear sclerodermoid LE profundus.

Abstract
The case of a 13-year-old Caucasian girl with a 1-year history of a linear plaque on her thigh is reported. Histopathologic examination of the incisional biopsy tissue established the diagnosis of lupus erythematosus panniculitis. Six months later she developed the clinical and laboratory criteria for the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). She was treated with azathioprine and oral prednisolone, with a favorable clinical outcome. Our case illustrates a child with linear lupus erythematosus profundus as an initial manifestation of SLE. To our knowledge, only eight other cases of linear lupus erythematosus profundus have been reported in the literature, five in children. In contrast to our patient, none of those cases progressed to SLE during the reported follow-up period. The authors report this case to illustrate an unusual superimposed segmental manifestation of an inflammatory polygenic disorder.

Abstract
A 26-year-old Japanese female presented to us with a 2-year history of multiple arc-shaped erythematous lesions on her scalp and the right side of her forehead. Histopathological examination of two of the lesions showed lobular and septal panniculitis with deposits of IgG in the basement membrane zone. We diagnosed the case as lupus erythematosus profundus, and successfully treated her with 20 mg/day prednisolone. To our knowledge, there has been only one previously reported case of lupus erythematosus profundus with annular-shaped erythematous lesions and six cases with linear configuration.

Abstract
Alopecia of a scalp shows various shapes and extents of hair loss, from a small round patch to polymorphous patches or total global alopecia. But alopecia of a linear shape is very rare. Only a few such cases have currently been reported in the medical literature. We recently had the chance to observe and treat two cases of linear alopecia that developed on the occipital scalp. The lesions themselves were like alopecia areata that shows a smooth bald area without any abnormality except the hair loss, but histopathologically, the lesions were compatible with lupus erythematosus profundus.

Abstract
Eleven patients with linear cutaneous lupus erythematosus following the lines of Blaschko have been previously reported in the literature. We describe a child with this entity following Blaschko lines on the trunk. The patient responded to oral hydroxychloroquine therapy combined with topical flurandrenolide tape resulting in resolution with atrophic scarring. The clinical and histological features of linear cutaneous lupus erythematosus are discussed and a review of the literature is presented.

Abstract
Lupus erythematosus panniculitis is a rare disease characterized by deep subcutaneous nodules, most commonly localized on the upper limbs and face. Unique clinical presentations, such as linear configuration or 'overlap' forms between lupus erythematosus panniculitis and localized scleroderma have been reported. We present here the clinical characteristics, course and laboratory findings of 2 patients having linear lupus erythematosus panniculitis with localized scleroderma-like changes. The 2 patients (of the 14 patients with lupus erythematosus panniculitis seen by us since 1990) were females with a young age at the onset of disease (median, 25 years). In 1 case, evolution into systemic lupus erythematosus with severe renal involvement occurred whereas the other patient, who had a spontaneous abortion and exhibited anticardiolipin antibodies, should be followed and screened for the emergence of antiphospholipid syndrome. Thus, the clinical behavior of this variant seems to be more aggressive, as compared with the usual course of lupus erythematosus panniculitis, which is considered to be a benign disease, although some reports have suggested that its prognosis is not always favorable. The linear distribution could be the clinical hallmark of such a unique, 'sclerodermic' subset of lupus erythematosus panniculitis.

Abstract
The lines of Blaschko describe distribution patterns which may represent embryologic developmental pathways. This distribution may occasionally be followed by some congenital and acquired skin disorders. We describe a child with linear cutaneous lupus erythematosus (LCLE) following Blaschko lines on the face.

Abstract
We report four children with linear eruptions on the nose, with overlapping features of lichen striatus and linear cutaneous lupus erythematosus. However, linear lupus erythematosus has rarely been reported, and lichen striatus, although classically linear, rarely affects the face. The linear distribution of lesions from the glabella to the ala nasi may represent distribution following Blaschko's lines.
