The miR-506-Induced Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition is Involved in Poor Prognosis for Patients with Gastric Cancer

Research progress and applications of epigenetic biomarkers in cancer

Epigenetic changes are heritable changes in gene expression without changes in the nucleotide sequence of genes. Epigenetic changes play an important role in the development of cancer and in the process of malignancy metastasis. Previous studies have shown that abnormal epigenetic changes can be used as biomarkers for disease status and disease prediction. The reversibility and controllability of epigenetic modification changes also provide new strategies for early disease prevention and treatment. In addition, corresponding drug development has also reached the clinical stage. In this paper, we will discuss the recent progress and application status of tumor epigenetic biomarkers from three perspectives: DNA methylation, non-coding RNA, and histone modification, in order to provide new opportunities for additional tumor research and applications.

Non-coding RNAs in disease: from mechanisms to therapeutics

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are a heterogeneous group of transcripts that, by definition, are not translated into proteins. Since their discovery, ncRNAs have emerged as important regulators of multiple biological functions across a range of cell types and tissues, and their dysregulation has been implicated in disease. Notably, much research has focused on the link between microRNAs (miRNAs) and human cancers, although other ncRNAs, such as long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs), are also emerging as relevant contributors to human disease. In this Review, we summarize our current understanding of the roles of miRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs in cancer and other major human diseases, notably cardiovascular, neurological and infectious diseases. Further, we discuss the potential use of ncRNAs as biomarkers of disease and as therapeutic targets.

The Role of MicroRNA in the Regulation of Tumor Epithelial–Mesenchymal Transition

Consistently, the high metastasis of cancer cells is the bottleneck in the process of tumor treatment. In this process of metastasis, a pivotal role is executed by epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT). The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transformation was first proposed to occur during embryonic development. Later, its important role in explaining embryonic developmental processes was widely reported. Recently, EMT and its intermediate state were also identified as crucial drivers in tumor progression with the gradual deepening of research. To gain insights into the potential mechanism, increasing attention has been focused on the EMT-related transcription factors. Correspondingly, miRNAs target transcription factors to control the EMT process of tumor cells in different types of cancers, while there are still many exciting and challenging questions about the phenomenon of microRNA regulation of cancer EMT. We describe the relevant mechanisms of miRNAs regulating EMT, and trace the regulatory roles and functions of major EMT-related transcription factors, including Snail, Twist, zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox (ZEB), and other families. In addition, on the basis of the complex regulatory network, we hope that the exploration of the regulatory relationship of non-transcription factors will provide a better understanding of EMT and cancer metastasis. The identification of the mechanism leading to the activation of EMT programs during diverse disease processes also provides a new protocol for the plasticity of distinct cellular phenotypes and possible therapeutic interventions. Here, we summarize the recent progress in this direction, with a promising path for further insight into this fast-moving field.

Regulatory effects of lncRNAs and miRNAs on the crosstalk between autophagy and EMT in cancer: a new era for cancer treatment

PURPOSE

Autophagy and EMT (epithelial-mesenchymal transition) are the two principal biological processes and ideal therapeutic targets during cancer development. Autophagy, a highly conserved process for degrading dysfunctional cellular components, plays a dual role in tumors depending on the tumor stage and tissue types. The EMT process is the transition differentiation from an epithelial cell to a mesenchymal-like cell and acquiring metastatic potential. There is evidence that the crosstalk between autophagy and EMT is complex in cancer. In recent years, more studies have shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in autophagy, EMT, and their crosstalk. Therefore, accurate understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of lncRNAs and miRNAs in autophagy, EMT and their interactions is crucial for the clinical management of cancers.

METHODS

An extensive literature search was conducted on the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The keywords used for the search included: autophagy, EMT, crosstalk, lncRNAs, miRNAs, cancers, diagnostic biomarkers, and therapeutic targets. This search provided relevant articles published in peer-reviewed journals until 2021. Data from these various studies were extracted and used in this review.

RESULTS

The results showed that lncRNAs/miRNAs as tumor inhibitors or tumor inducers could regulate autophagy, EMT, and their interaction by regulating several molecular signaling pathways. The lncRNAs/miRNAs involved in autophagy and EMT processes could have potential uses in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy.

CONCLUSION

Such information could help find and develop lncRNAs/miRNAs based new tools for diagnosing, prognosis, and creating anti-cancer therapies.

Decreased exosome-delivered miR-486-5p is responsible for the peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer cells by promoting EMT progress

Background

The present study aims to investigate the preliminary mechanism underlying the peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer cells.

Methods

Exosomes from GC9811 cells (Con-Exo) and from GC9811-P cells (PM-Exo) were extracted by ultracentrifugation, which were identified with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle trafficking analysis, as well as the expression of CD9, CD63, and CD81 detected by Western blot assay. α-SMA expression was determined by immunofluorescence assay and Western blot assay. The levels of Snail1, E-cadherin, and Actin-related protein 3 (ACTR3) were evaluated by Western blot assay. MiRNA array was performed on exosomes to screen the differentially expressed miRNAs. The expressions of miRNAs, SMAD2, CDK4, and ACTR3 were determined by QRT-PCR. The delivery of miR-486-5p was confirmed by laser confocal detection.

Results

Firstly, TEM, nanoparticle trafficking analysis, and Western blot assays were used to confirm the successful extraction of Con-Exo and PM-Exo. The incubation of Con-Exo and PM-Exo could decrease E-cadherin expression and increase of α-SMA respectively in HMrSV5 cells, with the increased proportion of fusiform cells. More significant changes were observed in PM-Exo-treated HMrSV5 cells. Secondary, compared to Con-Exo, miR-486-5p and miR-132-3p were found downregulated, and miR-132-5p was found upregulated in PM-Exo. The transfection of miR-486-5p and miR-132-3p was observed to suppress EMT, and the transfection of miR-132-3p was observed to induce EMT. Laser confocal detection confirmed the delivery of miR-486-5p from gastric cancer cells to HMrSV5 cells through exosomes. Lastly, the expression of Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 2 (SMAD2), cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4), and ACTR3 was found to be downregulated via miR-486-5p.

Conclusion

Decreased delivery of miR-486-5p via exosomes might be responsible for the peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer cells by promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition progress.

Downregulation of miR-506-3p Facilitates EGFR-TKI Resistance through Induction of Sonic Hedgehog Signaling in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Cell Lines

Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation eventually develop resistance to EGFR-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Treatment resistance remains the primary obstacle to the successful treatment of NSCLC. Although drug resistance mechanisms have been studied extensively in NSCLC, the regulation of these mechanisms has not been completely understood. Recently, increasing numbers of microRNAs (miRNAs) are implicated in EGFR-TKI resistance, indicating that miRNAs may serve as novel targets and may hold promise as predictive biomarkers for anti-EGFR therapy. MicroRNA-506 (miR-506) has been identified as a tumor suppressor in many cancers, including lung cancer; however, the role of miR-506 in lung cancer chemoresistance has not yet been addressed. Here we report that miR-506-3p expression was markedly reduced in erlotinib-resistant (ER) cells. We identified Sonic Hedgehog (SHH) as a novel target of miR-506-3p, aberrantly activated in ER cells. The ectopic overexpression of miR-506-3p in ER cells downregulates SHH signaling, increases E-cadherin expression, and inhibits the expression of vimentin, thus counteracting the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-mediated chemoresistance. Our results advanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying EGFR-TKI resistance and indicated that the miR-506/SHH axis might represent a novel therapeutic target for future EGFR mutated lung cancer treatment.

Competing Endogenous RNA Networks in the Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition in Diffuse-Type of Gastric Cancer

Simple Summary

The diffuse-type of gastric cancer is associated with epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Loss of E-cadherin expression is the hallmark of this process and is largely due to the upregulation of the transcription factors ZEB1/2, Snail, Slug, and Twist1/2. However, miRNA and lncRNAs can also participate through these transcription factors which directly target E-cadherin. The competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network hypothesis state that lncRNA can sponge the miRNA pool that targets these transcripts. Based on the lack of said networks in the epithelial to mesenchymal transition, we performed a prediction analysis that resulted in novel ceRNA networks which will expand our knowledge of the molecular basis of the diffuse-type of gastric cancer.

Abstract

The diffuse-type of gastric cancer (DGC), molecularly associated with epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), is increasing in incidence. Loss of E-cadherin expression is the hallmark of the EMT process and is largely due to the upregulation of the EMT-inducing transcription factors ZEB1/2, Snail, Slug, and Twist1/2. In this review, we focus on the role of ncRNA in the direct deregulation of E-cadherin, as well as EMT-inducing transcription factors. Based on the relevance of the ceRNA network hypothesis, and the lack of said networks in EMT, we performed a prediction analysis for all miRNAs and lncRNAs that target E-cadherin, as well as EMT-inducing transcription factors. This analysis resulted in novel predicted ceRNA networks for E-cadherin and EMT-inducing transcription factors (EMT-TFs), as well as the expansion of the molecular basis of the DGC.

The Role of Non-coding RNAs in Oncology

For decades, research into cancer biology focused on the involvement of protein-coding genes. Only recently was it discovered that an entire class of molecules, termed non-coding RNA (ncRNA), plays key regulatory roles in shaping cellular activity. An explosion of studies into ncRNA biology has since shown that they represent a diverse and prevalent group of RNAs, including both oncogenic molecules and those that work in a tumor suppressive manner. As a result, hundreds of cancer-focused clinical trials involving ncRNAs as novel biomarkers or therapies have begun and these are likely just the beginning.

MicroRNA-506-3p initiates mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition and suppresses autophagy in osteosarcoma cells by directly targeting SPHK1

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common malignant bone tumor. In cancer cells, autophagy is related to epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Although microRNA (miR)-506-3p has been demonstrated to act as a tumor suppressor in OS, its role in regulating the EMT process and autophagy remains unknown. The results showed that miR-506-3p directly inhibited the expression of sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) in 143B and SaOS-2 cells. The invasive capability of OS cells was reduced following miR-506-3p mimics transfection, and restored when SPHK1 was overexpressed simultaneously. Further, miR-506-3p mimics initiated mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition (MET) - E-cadherin expression was upregulated, whilst vimentin and fibronectin were downregulated. The basal autophagy flux (LC3II/I) was suppressed by miR-506-3p mimics. The alterations induced by miR-506-3p mimics were partly reversed by SPHK1 overexpression or treatment of rapamycin. Meanwhile, treatment of SPHK1-transfected cells with 3-methyladenine inhibited EMT. The data suggest that miR-506-3p initiates MET and suppresses autophagy in OS cells by targeting SPHK1.

Long noncoding RNA NNT-AS1 promotes gastric cancer proliferation and invasion by regulating microRNA-363 expression

Increasing studies showed that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) had crucial regulatory roles in various tumors, including gastric cancer (GC). Recent studies demonstrated that lncRNA nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase-antisense RNA1 (NNT-AS1) played an important role in several tumors. However, the role and expression of NNT-AS1 in GC progression remain unknown. In our study, we indicated that NNT-AS1 expression was upregulated in GC samples compared with the nontumor tissues. We also showed that NNT-AS1 expression was upregulated in the GC cell lines. Ectopic expression of NNT-AS1 promoted GC cell line HGC-27 cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and invasion. In addition, we showed that NNT-AS1 acted as a sponge competing endogenous RNA for microRNA-363 (miR-363), which was downregulated in the GC samples and cell lines. miR-363 expression was negatively related with NNT-AS1 expression in GC samples. Upregulated expression of miR-363 suppressed GC cell growth, cycle, and invasion. Furthermore, we reported that elevated expression of NNT-AS1 promoted GC cell proliferation, cycle, and invasion partly by suppressing miR-363 expression. These results indicated that lncRNA NNT-AS1 acted as an oncogene in the development of GC partly by inhibiting miR-363 expression.

Molecular alterations of cancer cell and tumour microenvironment in metastatic gastric cancer

The term metastasis is widely used to describe the endpoint of the process by which tumour cells spread from the primary location to an anatomically distant site. Achieving successful dissemination is dependent not only on the molecular alterations of the cancer cells themselves, but also on the microenvironment through which they encounter. Here, we reviewed the molecular alterations of metastatic gastric cancer (GC) as it reflects a large proportion of GC patients currently seen in clinic. We hope that further exploration and understanding of the multistep metastatic cascade will yield novel therapeutic targets that will lead to better patient outcomes.

The emerging role of miR-506 in cancer

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression. They are involved in almost all biological processes, and many have been identified as potential oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes. miR-506 was recently discovered to play pivotal roles in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and invasion. Dysregulation of miR-506 has been demonstrated in multiple types of cancers; however, whether it functions as an oncogene or a tumor suppressor seems to be context-dependent. Altered miR-506 expression in cancer is caused by promoter methylation and changes in upstream transcription factors. In this review, we summarize the current understanding of the diverse roles and underlying mechanisms of miR-506 and its involvement in cancer, and suggest the potential therapeutic strategy based on miR-506.

Prognostic value of microRNAs in gastric cancer: a meta-analysis

BACKGROUND

Previous articles have reported that expression levels of microRNAs (miRNAs) are associated with survival time of patients with gastric cancer (GC). A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to study the outcome of it.

DESIGN

Meta-analysis.

METHODS

English studies estimating expression levels of miRNAs with any of survival curves in GC were identified up till March 19, 2017 through performing online searches in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews by two authors independently. The pooled hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to estimate the correlation between miRNA expression and overall survival (OS).

RESULTS

Sixty-nine relevant articles about 26 miRNAs with 6148 patients were ultimately included. GC patients with high expression of miR-20b (HR=2.38, 95%CI=1.16-4.87), 21 (HR=1.77, 95%CI=1.01-3.08), 106b (HR=1.84, 95%CI=1.15-2.94), 196a (HR=2.66, 95%CI=1.94-3.63), 196b (HR=1.67, 95%CI=1.38-2.02), 214 (HR=1.84, 95%CI=1.27-2.67) or low expression of miR-125a (HR=2.06, 95%CI=1.26-3.37), 137 (HR=3.21, 95%CI=1.68-6.13), 141 (HR=2.47, 95%CI=1.34-4.56), 145 (HR=1.62, 95%CI=1.07-2.46), 146a (HR=2.60, 95%CI=1.63-4.13), 206 (HR=2.85, 95%CI=1.73-4.70), 218 (HR=2.61, 95%CI=1.74-3.92), 451 (HR=1.73, 95%CI=1.19-2.52), 486-5p (HR=2.45, 95%CI=1.65-3.65), 506 (HR=2.07, 95%CI=1.33-3.23) have significantly poor OS (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONS

In summary, miR-20b, 21, 106b, 125a, 137, 141, 145, 146a, 196a, 196b, 206, 214, 218, 451, 486-5p and 506 demonstrate significantly prognostic value. Among them, miR-20b, 125a, 137, 141, 146a, 196a, 206, 218, 486-5p and 506 are strong biomarkers of prognosis in GC.

MicroRNA-506 is up-regulated in the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and is associated with attenuated disease progression

BACKGROUND

MicroRNA-506 (miR-506) has been reported to function in several tumors as a tumor suppressor gene or oncogene. However, the expression and role of miR-506 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the phenotype of miR-506 in PDAC.

METHODS

Using miRNA in situ hybridization, we examined the expression of miR-506 in 113 PDACs and 87 paired normal pancreatic tissues. We evaluated miR-506 expression in PDAC cells, normal pancreatic ducts, and acinus/islands, and we analyzed the associations between miR-506 expression and the clinicopathologic characteristics of PDAC patients.

RESULTS

miR-506 expression was higher in PDAC than in matched normal pancreatic ductal cells (P < 0.001). On the other hand, the combined group of well and moderately differentiated PDACs showed higher levels of miR-506 than the poorly differentiated ones (P = 0.023). Moreover, miR-506 expression was negatively associated with pathologic T category (P = 0.004) and lymph node metastasis (P = 0.033), suggesting that miR-506 might inhibit the progression of PDAC.

CONCLUSIONS

Our results suggest that miR-506 either plays a role as an oncogene in the tumorigenesis and a tumor suppressor in the progression or serves as a house-keeping, tumor-suppressing miRNA, whose expression can be activated by oncogenic signals in early development to hinder the progression of PDAC.

Plasma miRNA-506 as a Prognostic Biomarker for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Background

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are responsible for regulating proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis in tumor cells. miRNA-506 is abnormally expressed in multiple tumors, indicating that it might be oncogenic or tumor-suppressive. However, little is known about the association between miRNA-506 expression and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Material/Methods

We examined the expression of miRNA-506 in the plasma of ESCC patients using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to determine the association between miRNA-506 expression and clinicopathological features of ESCC. ROC curves were produced for ESCC diagnosis by plasma miRNA-506 and the area under curve was calculated to explore its diagnostic value.

Results

Average miRNA-506 expression levels were remarkably higher in the plasma of ESCC patients than in healthy volunteers (P<0.001). The expression of miRNA-506 in the plasma was closely associated with lymph node status (P=0.004), TNM stage (P=0.031), and tumor length (P<0.001). According to ROC curves, the area under the curve for plasma miRNA-506 was 0.835, indicating statistical significance for ESCC diagnosis by plasma miRNA-506 (P<0.001). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients with high miRNA-506 expression had significantly shorter survival time than those with low miRNA-506 expression. Cox regression analysis demonstrated that T stage, N stage, tumor length, and miRNA-506 expression levels were significantly correlated with prognosis in ESCC patients.

Conclusions

miRNA-506 can serve as an important molecular marker for diagnosis and prognostic prediction of ESCC.

Downregulated miR-506 expression facilitates pancreatic cancer progression and chemoresistance via SPHK1/Akt/NF-κB signaling

The aberrant expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) has emerged as an important hallmark of cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the changes in miRNA expression remain unclear. In this study, we discovered a novel epigenetic mechanism of miR-506 regulation and investigated its functional significance in pancreatic cancer. Sequencing analysis revealed that the miR-506 promoter is highly methylated in pancreatic cancer tissues compared with non-cancerous tissues. Reduced miR-506 expression was significantly associated with clinical stage, pathologic tumor status, distant metastasis and decreased survival of pancreatic cancer patients. miR-506 inhibited cell proliferation, induced cell cycle arrest at the G1/S transition and enhanced apoptosis and chemosensitivity of pancreatic cancer cells. Furthermore, we identified sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) as a novel target of miR-506, the expression of which inhibited the SPHK1/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway, which is activated in pancreatic cancer. High SPHK1 expression was significantly associated with poor survival in a large cohort of pancreatic cancer specimens. Our data suggest that miR-506 acts as a tumor suppressor miRNA and is epigenetically silenced in pancreatic cancer. The newly identified miR-506/SPHK1 axis represents a novel therapeutic strategy for future pancreatic cancer treatment.

MicroRNA-663 suppresses cell invasion and migration by targeting transforming growth factor beta 1 in papillary thyroid carcinoma

MicroRNA-663 (miR-663) has been detected in a large variety of tumor types; however, it still holds both tumor suppressive and oncogenic roles in different tumor types. The miRNA-CHIP microarray assay revealed downregulation of miR-663 in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC); however, the effect of miR-663 on PTC cell invasion and migration remains unknown. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate the potential involvement of miR-663 in PTC. In this study, miR-663 expression level was measured via quantitative real-time PCR in 91 pairs of human PTC and adjacent normal tissues and in two human PTC cell lines. The effect of miR-663 on PTC cell invasion and migration were studied by transwell and wound healing assays. In addition, the miR-663 target was searched and the underlying mechanism was clarified by reporter assay and rescue experiment. The current study confirmed that miR-663 expression was inhibited in PTC tissue samples and PTC cell lines. There were statistically significant differences in expression of miR-663 with regard to age and tumor size. Upregulation of miR-663 suppressed PTC cell invasion and migration. Further study showed that transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) was the direct target of miR-663 and mediated the effect of miR-663 on PTC development. By targeting TGFβ1, miR-663 efficiently regulates the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). The data indicated that miR-663 may suppress tumor invasion and migration by targeting TGFβ1 and regulate EMT progress of PTC cells.

MiR-506 functions as a tumor suppressor in glioma by targeting STAT3

MicroRNA-506 (miR-506) has been reported to act as a tumor suppressive or an oncogenic miRNA in different types of tumors. However, the roles and underlying molecular mechanism of miR-506 in glioma remain unclear. In the present study, we performed quantitative PCR to investigate the level of miR-506 in 36 pairs of glioma tumor and matched adjacent tissues, and found that miR-506 was downregulated in the glioma tumors compared to the expression in the adjacent normal tissues. Furthermore, a functional assay found that ectopic expression of miR-506 in glioma cells markedly suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion, and suppressed tumor growth in vivo. Moreover, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) was identified as a direct target of miR-506. Western blot assay showed that overexpression of miR-506 not only induced changes in STAT3 expression but also altered expression of its downstream genes, including, Bcl2, cyclin D1 and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2), in the human glioma cells. In addition, STAT3 mRNA expression was increased in the glioma tissues, and was inversely correlated with miR-506. Importantly, overexpression of STAT3 in glioma cells attenuated the suppressive effects of miR-506 on cell proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion. These results showed that miR-506 functions as a tumor suppressor in glioma by targeting STAT3, suggesting that miR-506 may serve as a potential target in the treatment of human glioma.

Reduced expression of the long non-coding RNA AI364715 in gastric cancer and its clinical significance

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), which is greater than 200 nucleotides, is a class of RNA molecules without protein coding function. In recent years, studies have shown that lncRNAs are associated with cancers. They are affecting the occurrence and development of cancers. However, the diagnostic significances of lncRNAs in gastric cancer are largely unknown. In this study, we focused on AI364715, one typical lncRNA. A total of 186 samples were collected from two cancer centers. To find the potential association between its level and gastric cancer, we first collected 75 paired gastric cancer tissues and normal tissues, which are 5 cm away from the edge of carcinoma. Besides, 18 human healthy gastric mucosa and 18 gastric precancerous lesions (dysplasia) were also collected. Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was first used to detect the expression level of AI364715 at multiple stages of gastric tumorigenesis. Then, the relationships between AI364715 level and the clinicopathological factors of patients with gastric cancer were analyzed. The results showed that the expression level of AI364715 in gastric cancer tissues was downregulated. Meanwhile, its expression level was closely associated with tumor size and differentiation. More importantly, AI364715 expression level was significantly changed in dysplasia, the typical precancerous lesions. Taken together, AI364715 may be a potential biomarker for the diagnosis of gastric cancer.
