Abstract
The traditional genetic evaluation methods generally consider additive genetic effects only and often ignore non-additive (dominance and epistasis) effects that may have contributed to genetic variation of complex traits of livestock species. The available dense single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) panels offer to investigate the potential benefits of including non-additive genetic effects in the genomic evaluation models. Data from 16 971 genotyped (Illumina Bovine 50 K SNP chip) Korean Hanwoo cattle were used to estimate genetic variance components and prediction accuracy of genomic breeding values (GEBVs) for four carcass and meat quality traits: carcass weight (CWT), eye muscle area (EMA), back fat thickness (BFT) and marbling score (MS). Five different genetic models were evaluated through including additive, dominance and epistatic interactions (additive by additive, A × A; additive by dominance, A × D and dominance by dominance, D × D) successively in the models. The estimates of additive genetic variances and narrow sense heritabilities (ha2) were found similar across the evaluated models and traits except when additive interaction (A × A) was included. The dominance variance estimates relative to phenotypic variance ranged from 1.7-3.4% for CWT and MS traits, whereas, they were close to zero for EMA and BFT traits. The magnitude of A × A epistatic heritability (haa2) ranged between 14.8 and 27.7% in all traits. However, heritability estimates for A × D and D × D epistatic interactions (had2 and hdd2) were quite low compared to haa2 and were contributed only 0.0-9.7% of the total phenotypic variation. In general, broad sense heritability (hG2) estimates were almost twice (ranging between 0.54 and 0.68) the ha2 for all of the investigated traits. The inclusion of dominance effects did not improve the prediction accuracy of GEBV but improved 2.0-3.0% when epistatic effects were included in the model. More importantly, rank correlation revealed that partitioning of variance components considering dominance and epistatic effects in the model would enable to re-rank of top animals with better prediction of GEBV. The present result suggests that dominance and epistatic effects could be included in the genomic evaluation model for better estimates of variance components and more accurate prediction of GEBV for carcass and meat quality traits in Korean Hanwoo cattle.

Abstract
Although accurate intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is essential for the diagnosis and treatment of severe brain diseases, current methods are performed invasively. Therefore, a safe and less invasive ICP measurement is required. The purpose of our study was to develop a simplified cranial cavity model for a better understanding of the relationship between the ICP and the pressure measurement within the dural venous sinus (DVS) to support the validity of using sinus pressure as the surrogate of the ICP. The in-house cranial cavity model had three components: the brain part, the DVS part, and the subarachnoid space (SAS) part. Pressure in other parts was measured when the pressure in the SAS part and, separately, brain part was increased from 0 (baseline) to 50 mmHg at intervals of 10 mmHg. When the pressure in the SAS part was increased from 10 to 50 mmHg at 10 mmHg interval, pressures of both the brain and DVS parts increased without significant difference (all P > 0.05). However, pressures in both the SAS and DVS parts differed while the pressure in the brain part was increased. The pressures in both parts showed about 70% of the increase in the brain part. Nevertheless, the pressures in the SAS and DVS parts were not significantly different (P > 0.05). A simplified in-house cranial cavity model was developed consisting of three compartments to represent the actual intracranial spaces. The pressure measurement within the DVS was feasible to use as a surrogate for the ICP measurement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite the growing use of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in the management of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), there is little evidence that its use leads to improved clinical outcomes. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of NGS with that of single-gene testing (SGT) alone in patients with advanced NSCLC. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a retrospective cohort study conducted on patients diagnosed with advanced lung adenocarcinoma between 2017 and 2018 from a nationwide, population-based database. We identified patients who had SGT exclusively (SGT group) or underwent upfront NGS or NGS following SGT as an initial evaluation (NGS group). Patients were followed up until death or the end of the study (31 December 2019). The adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) for death was estimated using the Cox proportional hazards model. The factors affecting the adoption of NGS were identified. RESULTS Of 8566 patients diagnosed with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, 402 and 6932 patients were assigned to the NGS and SGT groups, respectively. More NGS was carried out in younger patients, those with higher incomes, and those living in urban areas. After balancing these confounders through matching, no difference was observed in the median overall survival and risk of death between the NGS and SGT groups [18.5 versus 19.7 months, log-rank P = 0.783; aHR 0.98, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.84-1.14, respectively]. Only in a subgroup for whom epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) or anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitors were not indicated, NGS was associated with better survival outcomes (14.1 versus 9.0 months, log-rank P = 0.006; aHR 0.82, 95% CI 0.69-0.97). CONCLUSIONS In the real world, NGS for all-comers in patients with advanced NSCLC did not increase survival outcomes. When health care resources to support equal access to NGS are limited, upfront SGT followed by NGS may be a more efficient strategy.

Abstract
AIM To verify the diagnostic performance of the loss of nigrosome-1 on susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) with compressed sensing-sensitivity encoding (CS-SENSE) and neuromelanin on neuromelanin-sensitive (NM) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) and atypical Parkinsonism. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 195 patients who underwent MRI between October 2019 and February 2020, including SWI, with or without CS-SENSE, and NM-MRI, were reviewed retrospectively. Two neuroradiologists assessed the loss of nigrosome-1 on SWI and neuromelanin on the NM-MRI. The result of N-3-fluoropropyl-2-beta-carbomethoxy-3-beta-(4-iodophenyl) nortropane positron-emission tomography (PET) was set as the reference standard. RESULTS When CS-SENSE was applied for nigrosome-1 imaging on SWI, the non-diagnostic scan rate was lowered significantly from 19.3% (17/88) to 5.6% (6/107; p=0.004). Diagnosis of PD and atypical Parkinsonism based on the loss of nigrosome-1 on SWI and based on NM-MRI showed good diagnostic value (area under the curve [AUC] 0.821, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.755-0.875: AUC 0.832, 95% CI = 0.771-0.882, respectively) with a substantial inter-reader agreement (κ = 0.791 and 0.681, respectively). Combined SWI and neuromelanin had a similar discriminatory ability (AUC 0.830, 95% CI = 0.770-0.880). Similarly, the diagnosis of PD was excellent. CONCLUSIONS CS-SENSE may add value to the diagnostic capability of nigrosome-1 on SWI to reduce the nondiagnostic scan rates. Furthermore, loss of nigrosome-1 on SWI or volume loss of neuromelanin on NM-MRI may be helpful for diagnosing PD.

Abstract
We search for energetic electron recoil signals induced by boosted dark matter (BDM) from the galactic center using the COSINE-100 array of NaI(Tl) crystal detectors at the Yangyang Underground Laboratory. The signal would be an excess of events with energies above 4 MeV over the well-understood background. Because no excess of events are observed in a 97.7 kg·yr exposure, we set limits on BDM interactions under a variety of hypotheses. Notably, we explored the dark photon parameter space, leading to competitive limits compared to direct dark photon search experiments, particularly for dark photon masses below 4 MeV and considering the invisible decay mode. Furthermore, by comparing our results with a previous BDM search conducted by the Super-Kamionkande experiment, we found that the COSINE-100 detector has advantages in searching for low-mass dark matter. This analysis demonstrates the potential of the COSINE-100 detector to search for MeV electron recoil signals produced by the dark sector particle interactions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Sinonasal inverted papilloma has a high tendency for recurrence, local bone destruction and risk of malignant transformation. Therefore, complete resection of the tumour is required, and close follow up is essential. This article describes the clinical outcomes, recurrence rate and malignant transformation rate of sinonasal inverted papilloma. METHODS In this study, 139 patients diagnosed with sinonasal inverted papilloma in our hospital from December 2010 to May 2022 were retrospectively analysed. All patients underwent endoscopic surgery. RESULTS Sinonasal inverted papilloma occurred more often in males than in females. The mean age of patients with sinonasal inverted papilloma was 67.3 ± 5.7 years at diagnosis. The most prevalent site of origin was the maxillary sinus (50.4 per cent). The recurrence rate was 5.75 per cent, and the malignant transformation rate was 6.5 per cent. CONCLUSION All patients in this study underwent endoscopic surgery. Meticulous resection and regular long-term follow ups are crucial to reducing sinonasal inverted papilloma recurrence after surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We hypothesized that avelumab plus axitinib could improve clinical outcomes in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) or urothelial carcinoma (UC). PATIENTS AND METHODS We enrolled previously treated patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC, or untreated, cisplatin-ineligible patients with advanced or metastatic UC. Patients received avelumab 800 mg every 2 weeks (Q2W) and axitinib 5 mg orally two times daily. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR). Immunohistochemistry was used to assess programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression (SP263 assay) and the presence of CD8+ T cells (clone C8/144B). Tumor mutational burden (TMB) was assessed by whole-exome sequencing. RESULTS A total of 61 patients were enrolled and treated (NSCLC, n = 41; UC, n = 20); 5 remained on treatment at data cut-off (26 February 2021). The confirmed ORR was 31.7% in the NSCLC cohort and 10.0% in the UC cohort (all partial responses). Antitumor activity was observed irrespective of PD-L1 expression. In exploratory subgroups, ORRs were higher in patients with higher (≥median) CD8+ T cells in the tumor. ORRs were higher in patients with lower TMB (<median) in the NSCLC cohort and higher TMB (≥median) in the UC cohort. Treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) occurred in 93.4% of patients, including grade ≥3 TRAEs in 55.7%. Avelumab exposures with 800 mg Q2W dosing were similar to those observed with 10 mg/kg Q2W dosing. CONCLUSIONS In previously treated patients with advanced/metastatic NSCLC, ORR appeared to be superior to anti-PD-L1 or anti-programmed cell death protein 1 monotherapy, irrespective of PD-L1 status, whereas in untreated, cisplatin-ineligible patients with advanced/metastatic UC, ORR was lower than expected, potentially limited by small patient numbers. Abstract
As the electron mobility of two-dimensional (2D) materials is dependent on an insulating substrate, the nonuniform surface charge and morphology of silicon dioxide (SiO2) layers degrade the electron mobility of 2D materials. Here, we demonstrate that an atomically thin single-crystal insulating layer of silicon oxynitride (SiON) can be grown epitaxially on a SiC wafer at a wafer scale and find that the electron mobility of graphene field-effect transistors on the SiON layer is 1.5 times higher than that of graphene field-effect transistors on typical SiO2 films. Microscale and nanoscale void defects caused by heterostructure growth were eliminated for the wafer-scale growth of the single-crystal SiON layer. The single-crystal SiON layer can be grown on a SiC wafer with a single thermal process. This simple fabrication process, compatible with commercial semiconductor fabrication processes, makes the layer an excellent replacement for the SiO2/Si wafer.

Abstract
"Genome-based precision feeding" is a concept that involves the application of customised diets to different genetic groups of cattle. We investigated the effects of the genomic estimated breeding value (gEBV) and dietary energy to protein ratio (DEP) on growth performance, carcass traits, and lipogenic gene expression in Hanwoo (Korean cattle) steers. Forty-four Hanwoo steers (BW = 636 kg, age = 26.9 months) were genotyped using the Illumina Bovine 50 K BeadChip. The gEBV was calculated using genomic best linear unbiased prediction. Animals were separated into high gEBV of marbling score or low-gMS groups based on the upper and lower 50% groupings of the reference population, respectively. Animals were assigned to one of four groups in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement: high gMS/high DEP (0.084 MJ/g), high gMS/low DEP (0.079 MJ/g), low gMS/high DEP, and low gMS/low DEP. Steers were fed concentrate with a high or low DEP for 31 weeks. The BW tended to be higher (0.05 < P < 0.1) in the high-gMS groups compared to the low-gMS groups at 0, 4, 8, 12, and 20 weeks. The average daily gain (ADG) tended to be lower (P = 0.08) in the high-gMS group than in the low-gMS group. Final BW and measured carcass weight (CW) were positively correlated with the gEBV of carcass weight (gCW). The DEP did not affect ADG. Neither the gMS nor the DEP affected the MS and beef quality grade. The intramuscular fat (IMF) content in the longissimus thoracis (LT) tended to be higher (P = 0.08) in the high-gMS groups than in the low-gMS groups. The mRNA levels of lipogenic acetyl-CoA carboxylase and fatty acid binding protein 4 genes in the LT were higher (P < 0.05) in the high-gMS group than in the low-gMS group. Overall, the IMF content tended to be affected by the gMS, and the genetic potential (i.e., gMS) was associated with the functional activity of lipogenic gene expression. The gCW was associated with the measured BW and CW. The results demonstrated that the gMS and the gCW may be used as early prediction indexes for meat quality and growth potential of beef cattle.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Efficacy of vitamin D supplementation may vary by dosing strategies and adiposity. To address such heterogeneity, we performed a meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials of vitamin D supplementation and total cancer outcomes. METHODS PubMed and Embase were searched through January 2022. Summary relative risk (SRR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were estimated using the DerSimonian-Laird random-effects model. RESULTS For total cancer incidence (12 trials), the SRR for vitamin D supplementation vs. control group was 0.99 (95% CI, 0.94-1.03; P = 0.54; I2 = 0%). No significant association was observed regardless of whether the supplement was given daily or infrequently in a large-bolus. Yet, among trials testing daily supplementation, a significant inverse association was observed among normal-weight individuals (SRR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.64-0.90; P = 0.001, I2 = 0%), but not among overweight or obese individuals (Pheterogeneity = 0.02). For total cancer mortality (six trials), the SRR was 0.92 (95% CI, 0.82-1.03; P = 0.17; I2 = 33%). A significant inverse association emerged (SRR, 0.87; 95% CI, 0.78-0.96; P = 0.007; I2 = 0%) among studies testing daily supplementations but not among studies that testing infrequent large-bolus supplementations (Pheterogeneity = 0.09). CONCLUSIONS For vitamin D supplementation, daily dosing, but not infrequent large-bolus dosing, reduced total cancer mortality. For total cancer incidence, bolus dosing did not reduce the risk and the benefits of daily dosing were limited to normal-weight individuals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Skin aging is caused by numerous factors that result in structural and functional changes in cutaneous components. Research has shown that senescent cells are known to accumulate in skin aging, however, the role of senescent cells in skin aging has not been defined. OBJECTIVES To elucidate the role of senescent cell in skin aging, we evaluated the effect of known senolytic drugs on senescent dermal fibroblasts. METHODS Primary human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs) were induced to senescence by long-term passaging, UV irradiation, and H2O2 treatment. Cell viability was measured after treatment of ABT-263 and ABT-737 on HDFs. Young and aged hairless mice were intradermally injected with drugs or vehicle on the dorsal skin for 10 days. Skin specimens were obtained and reverse-transcription quantitative PCR, western blotting, and histological analysis were performed. RESULTS We found that ABT-263 and ABT-737 induced selective clearance of senescent dermal fibroblasts, regardless of the method of senescence induction. Aged mouse skin treated with ABT-263 or ABT-737 showed increased collagen density, epidermal thickness, and proliferation of keratinocytes, as well as decreased senescence-associated secretory phenotypes, such as MMP-1 and IL-6. CONCLUSIONS Taken together, our results indicate that selective clearance of senescent skin cells can attenuate and improve skin aging phenotypes and that senolytic drugs may be of potential use as new therapeutic agents for treating aging of the skin.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In this first-in-human phase 1 study, we investigated the safety and efficacy of the anti-TIGIT antibody vibostolimab as monotherapy or in combination with pembrolizumab. METHODS Part A enrolled patients with advanced solid tumors and part B enrolled patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patients received vibostolimab 2.1-700 mg alone or with pembrolizumab 200 mg in part A and vibostolimab 200 mg alone or with pembrolizumab 200 mg in part B. Primary end points were safety and tolerability. Secondary end points included pharmacokinetics and objective response rate (ORR) per RECIST v1.1. RESULTS Part A enrolled 76 patients (monotherapy, 34; combination therapy, 42). No dose-limiting toxicities were reported. Across doses, 56% of patients receiving monotherapy and 62% receiving combination therapy had treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs); grade 3-4 TRAEs occurred in 9% and 17% of patients, respectively. The most common TRAEs were fatigue (15%) and pruritus (15%) with monotherapy and pruritus (17%) and rash (14%) with combination therapy. Confirmed ORR was 0% with monotherapy and 7% with combination therapy. In part B, 39 patients had anti-PD-1/PD-L1-naïve NSCLC (all received combination therapy) and 67 had anti-PD-1/PD-L1-refractory NSCLC (monotherapy, 34; combination therapy, 33). In patients with anti-PD-1/PD-L1-naive NSCLC: 85% had TRAEs-the most common were pruritus (38%) and hypoalbuminemia (31%); confirmed ORR was 26%, with responses occurring in both PD-L1-positive and PD-L1-negative tumors. In patients with anti-PD-1/PD-L1‒refractory NSCLC: 56% receiving monotherapy and 70% receiving combination therapy had TRAEs-the most common were rash and fatigue (21% each) with monotherapy and pruritus (36%) and fatigue (24%) with combination therapy; confirmed ORR was 3% with monotherapy and 3% with combination therapy. CONCLUSION Vibostolimab plus pembrolizumab was well tolerated and demonstrated antitumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors, including patients with advanced NSCLC.

Abstract
A solvent-free headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SF-HS-GC/MS) method was developed and validated for screening N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in various active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and drug products. Experimental parameters such as incubation temperature, incubation time, and sample volume in solvent-free headspace conditions were optimized. The developed SF-HS-GC/MS method was validated in terms of linearity, limit of quantification (LOQ), precision, and accuracy. The results indicated excellent linearity from 5 to 500 ng g-1 with correlation coefficients higher than 0.9999. The LOQ of this method was 5 ng g-1 and matrix effects ranged from 0.97 to 1.11. The accuracy ranged from 92.77 to 106.54% and the precision RSDs were below 5.94%. No significant matrix effect was observed for any of the drug products. Also, artefactual NDMA formation in ranitidine, nizatidine, and metformin was investigated under HS conditions. Adjusted (mild) SF-HS conditions were suggested for precise quantification of NDMA in positive drug products by GC/MS. The present SF-HS-GC/MS method is a promising tool for the screening and determination of toxic NDMA in APIs and drug products.

Abstract
BACKGROUND During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, various adverse skin reactions to long-term mask wearing have been reported. AIM To assess the clinical features of mask-induced dermatoses and to recommend prevention and treatment options. METHODS From April to August 2020, questionnaires including topics such as demographic information, pre-existing skin disorders, reported mask-related symptoms, daily mask-wearing duration and frequency, types of masks used and whether the participant was a healthcare worker, were distributed to patients in 12 hospitals. Dermatologists assessed skin lesions, confirmed diagnosis and recorded treatments. RESULTS Itchiness was the most frequent symptom, mostly affecting the cheeks. The most common skin disease was new-onset contact dermatitis (33.94%), followed by new-onset acne (16.97%) and worsening of pre-existing acne (16.97%). Daily wearing of masks was significantly (P = 0.02) associated with new-onset contact dermatitis. More than half of patients with pre-existing skin problems experienced disease worsening while wearing masks. Longer duration of wearing (> 6 h/day, P = 0.04) and use of cotton masks (P < 0.001) significantly increased acne flare-up. Healthcare workers had a higher incidence of skin disease. Skin lesions were generally mild and well tolerated with topical treatment. The study had some limitations: the effect of seasonal characteristics and other risk factors were not assessed, and the patients were visiting dermatological clinics and had interest in their skin status, thus, there may have been selection bias. CONCLUSION Mask-induced/-triggered dermatoses contribute to increase the dermatological burden during the pandemic.

Abstract
The practical application of 2D MXenes in electronic and energy fields has been hindered by the severe variation in the quality of MXene products depending on the parent MAX phases, manufacturing techniques, and preparation parameters. In particular, their synthesis has been impeded by the lack of studies reporting the synthesis of high-quality parent MAX phases. In addition, controllable and uniform deposition of 2D MXenes on various large-scale substrates is urgently required to use them practically. Herein, a method of pelletizing raw materials could synthesize a stoichiometric Ti3AlC2 MAX phase with high yield and processability, and fewer impurities. The Ti3AlC2 could be exfoliated into 1-2-atom-thick 2D Ti3C2T x flakes, and their applicability was confirmed by the deposition and additional alignment of the 2D flakes with tunable thickness and electrical properties. Moreover, a practical MXene ink was fabricated with rheological characterization. MXene ink exhibited much better thickness uniformity while retaining excellent electrical performances (e.g., sheet resistance, electromagnetic interference shielding ability) as those of a film produced by vacuum filtration. The direct functional integration of MXenes on various substrates is expected to initiate new and unexpected MXene-based applications.

Abstract
Anterior gradient 2 (AGR2) is a protein disulfide isomerase over-expressed in numerous types of cancer. Although AGR2 plays a role in ER homeostasis, its function(s) in tumorigenesis is still elusive. Here we demonstrate that AGR2 is involved in the regulation of the β-subunit of dystroglycan (β-DG), a component of the multi-protein complex linking the extracellular matrix and cytoskeletal network. In breast cancer cells, AGR2 over-expression led to the up-regulation of β-DG but not that of α-DG, while the transcript levels of these subunits were unchanged. Conversely, the reduced expression of AGR2 caused the down-regulation of β-DG. Interestingly, induced expression of AGR2 increased the degree of co-localization of AGR2 and β-DG in the cytoplasm suggesting that AGR2 facilitates the trafficking of β-DG. In addition, AGR2 over-expression caused the re-arrangement of the actin cytoskeletal network. Presumably over-expressed AGR2 up-regulates β-DG post-transcriptionally and facilitates its trafficking, which then causes re-arrangement of the cytoskeletal network, which plays a role in the adhesion and invasion of cancer cells.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Quavonlimab (MK-1308), a novel anti-CTLA-4 antibody, in combination with pembrolizumab was investigated in a phase I study. PATIENTS AND METHODS Dose-escalation (DE) phase: patients with advanced/metastatic solid tumors received an initial flat dose of quavonlimab as monotherapy [25 mg (cohort 1), 75 mg (cohort 2), or 200 mg (cohort 3)] followed by four treatments of the same quavonlimab dose plus pembrolizumab every 3 weeks (Q3W). Dose-confirmation phase (DC): patients with stage IIIB/IV non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) received first-line quavonlimab [25 mg Q3W (arm A), 25 mg Q6W (arm B), 75 mg Q6W (arm C), or 75 mg Q3W (arm E)] plus pembrolizumab. Primary objectives were safety and tolerability and establishment of the recommended phase II dose (RP2D) of quavonlimab when used with pembrolizumab. Objective response rate (ORR) was a secondary endpoint. Efficacy based on PD-L1 expression, tumor mutational burden (TMB), and changes in circulating CD4+/CD8+ cells were exploratory endpoints. RESULTS Thirty-nine patients were enrolled in DE [n = 14 (cohort 1); n = 17 (cohort 2); n = 8 (cohort 3)] and 134 in DC [n = 40 (arm A); n = 40 (arm B); n = 40 (arm C); n = 14 (arm E)]. Maximum-tolerated dose was not reached. Grade 3-5 treatment-related adverse events (AEs; graded according to NCI CTCAE v4.03) occurred in 0%, 23.5%, and 75.0% of patients in DE cohorts 1, 2, and 3, respectively, and 35.0%, 30.0%, 35.0%, and 57.1% of patients in DC arms A, B, C, and E, respectively. Efficacy was observed at all dose levels/schedules in patients with NSCLC. ORRs were 40.0% [95% confidence interval (CI), 24.9-56.7; arm A], 37.5% (95% CI, 22.7-54.2; arm B), 27.5% (95% CI, 14.6-43.9; arm C), and 35.7% (95% CI, 12.8-64.9; arm E). PD-L1 expression and total number of circulating CD4+ cells correlated with ORR. CONCLUSIONS Quavonlimab 25 mg Q6W plus pembrolizumab demonstrated similar efficacy and a better safety profile among all quavonlimab doses/schedules evaluated; this regimen was the chosen RP2D.

Abstract
We report a search result for a light sterile neutrino oscillation with roughly 2200 live days of data in the RENO experiment. The search is performed by electron antineutrino (ν[over ¯]_{e}) disappearance taking place between six 2.8 GW_{th} reactors and two identical detectors located at 294 m (near) and 1383 m (far) from the center of the reactor array. A spectral comparison between near and far detectors can explore reactor ν[over ¯]_{e} oscillations to a light sterile neutrino. An observed spectral difference is found to be consistent with that of the three-flavor oscillation model. This yields limits on sin^{2}2θ_{14} in the 10^{-4}≲|Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.5 eV^{2} region, free from reactor ν[over ¯]_{e} flux and spectrum uncertainties. The RENO result provides the most stringent limits on sterile neutrino mixing at |Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.002 eV^{2} using the ν[over ¯]_{e} disappearance channel.

Abstract
Stent-mediated therapy is minimally invasive and fairly effective for the specific tissue and organs with tubal structures such as the esophagus, intestine, and blood vessels. Cerebral arteries are one of the most critical tubal structures to maintain the physiological function and the life of the human. Since the retrieval of the implanted vascular stent is difficult and risky, the one-step stent therapy is imperative. However, the placement of a current pipe-typed stent can also limit the nutritional supply to the vascular wall. Also, the non-degradable polymeric layer is possibly sensitized to the recipient as a foreign body after prolonged period after implantation. Herein, we developed PLGA/PCL nanofiber-coated stent for blocking the flow towards the aneurysm cavity as well as allowing nutritional support to the vessel with the biodegradability. The PLGA/PCL nanofiber-coated stent (NCS) was fabricated via electrospinning composite nanofibers onto a self-expandable mater metal stent. The as-fabricated NCS was physicochemically characterized using FT-IR, FE-SEM, and UTM, and experimented in vivo as implanted in porcine models and radiologically and histologically analyzed. The NCS demonstrated improved physicochemical properties for intracranial aneurysmal treatment including enhanced mechanical properties. The bioabsorbability of NCS was confirmed in the animal model.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dysregulation of receptor tyrosine kinase MET by various mechanisms occurs in 3%-4% of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is associated with unfavorable prognosis. While MET is a validated drug target in lung cancer, the best biomarker strategy for the enrichment of a susceptible patient population still remains to be defined. Towards this end we analyze here primary data from a phase I dose expansion study of the MET inhibitor capmatinib in patients with advanced MET-dysregulated NSCLC. PATIENTS AND METHODS Eligible patients [≥18 years; Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status ≤2] with MET-dysregulated advanced NSCLC, defined as either (i) MET status by immunohistochemistry (MET IHC) 2+ or 3+ or H-score ≥150, or MET/centromere ratio ≥2.0 or gene copy number (GCN) ≥5, or (ii) epidermal growth factor receptor wild-type (EGFRwt) and centrally assessed MET IHC 3+, received capmatinib at the recommended dose of 400 mg (tablets) or 600 mg (capsules) b.i.d. The primary objective was to determine safety and tolerability; the key secondary objective was to explore antitumor activity. The exploratory end point was the correlation of clinical activity with different biomarker formats. RESULTS Of 55 patients with advanced MET-dysregulated NSCLC, 40/55 (73%) had received two or more prior systemic therapies. All patients discontinued treatment, primarily due to disease progression (69.1%). The median treatment duration was 10.4 weeks. The overall response rate per RECIST was 20% (95% confidence interval, 10.4-33.0). In patients with MET GCN ≥6 (n = 15), the overall response rate by both the investigator and central assessments was 47%. The median progression-free survival per investigator for patients with MET GCN ≥6 was 9.3 months (95% confidence interval, 3.8-11.9). Tumor responses were observed in all four patients with METex14. The most common toxicities were nausea (42%), peripheral edema (33%), and vomiting (31%). CONCLUSIONS MET GCN ≥6 and/or METex14 are suited to predict clinical activity of capmatinib in patients with NSCLC (NCT01324479).

Abstract
PURPOSE Historically, atopic dermatitis (AD) is associated with an increased risk of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). However, uncertainty remained regarding the effect of AD itself and comorbidities (e.g., allergic diseases, cataract surgery) on RRD occurrence in a large, population-based paediatric population. PATIENTS AND METHODS We analysed the 12-year National Health Insurance Service database (2002-2013) covering the entire Korean population to estimate the association between AD and RRD in people aged under 20 years. RESULTS We identified 3142 RRD patients, and matched 18,852 controls (six controls to each RRD patient); therefore, we included 21,994 peoples under aged 20 years in the analyses. AD was more prevalent in the RRD group (329 patients, 10.47%) than the control group (1043 patients, 5.53%; P < 0.001), and so were severe AD (153 patients [4.87%] and 223 patients [1.18%], respectively; P < 0.001). In conditional logistic regression analysis, AD was associated with RRD (OR, 1.61; 95% CI, 1.93-1.87) even after adjusting for allergic conditions, connective tissue disease, uveitis, and cataract surgery. In addition, severity of AD was associated with an increased risk of RRD (OR for non-severe AD and severe AD, 1.26 [95% CI, 1.05-1.51] and 2.88 [95% CI, 2.25-3.68]). CONCLUSION This study suggests that AD itself is a risk factor of RRD in children by showing the association between AD and RRD occurrence and the biologic gradient even after adjustment for known confounders including allergic conditions, uveitis, and cataract surgery.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyse the results of treatment for nasolabial cysts according to whether an intraoral sublabial or endoscopic transnasal approach was used, and to determine the recent surgical trend in our hospital. METHODS Twenty-four patients with a histopathologically and radiologically confirmed nasolabial cyst between January 2010 and December 2017 were enrolled in this study. RESULTS Nasolabial cysts were predominant in females (91.7 per cent) and on the left side (54.2 per cent). Treatment involved an intraoral sublabial approach in 12 cases (48.0 per cent) and a transnasal endoscopic approach in 13 cases (52.0 per cent). In 13 cases (52.0 per cent) surgery was performed under local anaesthesia, while in 12 cases (48.0 per cent) it was conducted under general anaesthesia. The most common post-operative complications were numbness of the upper lip or teeth (n = 9, 36.0 per cent). Only one patient (4.0 per cent), who underwent a transnasal endoscopic approach, experienced a reoccurrence. CONCLUSION Surgical resection through an intraoral sublabial or transnasal endoscopic approach is the best treatment for a nasolabial cyst, showing very good results and a low recurrence rate. The recent surgical trend in our hospital is to treat nasolabial cysts using a transnasal endoscopic approach under local anaesthesia.

Abstract
The number of individuals with mental disorders is increasing and they are commonly found among individuals who avoid social interaction and like to live alone. Amongst such mental health disorders is depression which is both common and serious. The present paper introduces a method to assess the depression level of an individual using a smartphone by monitoring their daily activities. The time domain characteristics from a smartphone acceleration sensor were used alongside a vector machine algorithm to classify physical activities. Additionally, the geographical location information was clustered using a smartphone GPS sensor to simplify movement patterns. A total of 12 features were extracted from individuals' physical activity and movement patterns and were analyzed alongside their weekly depression scores using the nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire. Using a wrapper feature selection method, a subset of features was selected and applied to a linear regression model to estimate the depression score. The support vector machine algorithm was then used to classify the depression severity level among individuals (absence, moderate, severe) and had an accuracy of 87.2% in severe depression cases which outperformed other classification models including the k-nearest neighbor and artificial neural network. This method of identifying depression is a cost-effective solution for long-term use and can monitor individuals for depression without invading their personal space or creating other day-to-day disturbances.

Abstract
Mammary analogue secretory carcinoma (MASC) of the salivary gland is a newly-described, rare, malignant tumour. Few patients present with MASC of the parotid gland, so the exact characteristics, outcomes of treatment, and prognosis are unknown. The aim of this study was to analyse the clinical features and outcomes of treatment of MASC of the parotid gland in patients being treated at a single hospital. Five patients with histopathologically-confirmed MASC of the parotid gland between January 2015 and August 2018 were retrospectively enrolled. In all cases preoperative fine-needle aspiration cytology had failed to provide an accurate diagnosis. All patients underwent a macroscopically complete oncological resection. Two patients had postoperative radiotherapy (RT). On immunohistochemical examination all tumours stained for S-100 and mammaglobin but not for DOG1. There were no regional recurrences or distant metastases in any of the patients at their last follow-up. We obtained good results for patients with MASC of the parotid gland with surgical treatment and postoperative RT.

Abstract
Dental migration into the ethmoid sinus is extremely rare. Furthermore, it is very unusual that a displaced dental implant is associated with a concomitant fungus ball in the ethmoid sinus. Herein, we report an unusual case of the coexistence of a dental implant and fungus ball in the ethmoid sinus. It appears that this condition has not been reported previously.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Classic findings of intracranial hypotension on MR imaging, such as brain stem slumping, can be variably present and, at times, subjective, potentially making the diagnosis difficult. We hypothesize that the angle between the cerebral peduncles correlates with the volume of interpeduncular cistern fluid and is decreased in cases of intracranial hypotension. We aimed to investigate its use as an objective assessment for intracranial hypotension. MATERIALS AND METHODS Brain MRIs of 30 patients with intracranial hypotension and 30 age-matched controls were evaluated by 2 fellowship-trained neuroradiologists for classic findings of intracranial hypotension and the interpeduncular angle. Group analysis was performed with a Student t test, and receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to identify an ideal angle threshold to maximize sensitivity and specificity. Interobserver reliability was assessed for classic findings of intracranial hypotension using the Cohen κ value, and the interpeduncular angle, using the intraclass correlation. RESULTS The interpeduncular angle had excellent interobserver reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient value = 0.833) and was significantly lower in the intracranial hypotension group compared with the control group (25.3° versus 56.3°; P < .001). There was significant correlation between the interpeduncular angle and the presence of brain stem slumping (P < .001) and in cases with ≥3 classic features of intracranial hypotension (P = .01). With a threshold of 40.5°, sensitivity and specificity were 80% and 96.7%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The interpeduncular angle is a sensitive and specific measure of intracranial hypotension and is a reliably reproducible parameter on routine clinical MR imaging.

Abstract
We report a fuel-dependent reactor electron antineutrino (ν[over ¯]_{e}) yield using six 2.8 GW_{th} reactors in the Hanbit nuclear power plant complex, Yonggwang, Korea. The analysis uses 850 666 ν[over ¯]_{e} candidate events with a background fraction of 2.0% acquired through inverse beta decay (IBD) interactions in the near detector for 1807.9 live days from August 2011 to February 2018. Based on multiple fuel cycles, we observe a fuel ^{235}U dependent variation of measured IBD yields with a slope of (1.51±0.23)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission and measure a total average IBD yield of (5.84±0.13)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission. The hypothesis of no fuel-dependent IBD yield is ruled out at 6.6σ. The observed IBD yield variation over ^{235}U isotope fraction does not show significant deviation from the Huber-Mueller (HM) prediction at 1.3 σ. The measured fuel-dependent variation determines IBD yields of (6.15±0.19)×10^{-43} and (4.18±0.26)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission for two dominant fuel isotopes ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu, respectively. The measured IBD yield per ^{235}U fission shows the largest deficit relative to the HM prediction. Reevaluation of the ^{235}U IBD yield per fission may mostly solve the reactor antineutrino anomaly (RAA) while ^{239}Pu is not completely ruled out as a possible contributor to the anomaly. We also report a 2.9 σ correlation between the fractional change of the 5 MeV excess and the reactor fuel isotope fraction of ^{235}U.

Abstract
A novel flexible transparent electrode (TE) having a trilayer-stacked geometry and high optoelectronic performance and operational stability was fabricated by the spin coating method. The trilayer was composed of an ultrathin graphene (Gr) film sandwiched between a transparent and colorless polyimide (TCPI) layer and a methanesulfonic acid (MSA)-treated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) layer containing dimethylsulfoxide and Zonyl fluorosurfactant (designated as MSA-PDZ film). The introduction of solution-processable TCPI enabled the direct formation of high-quality graphene on organic surfaces with a clean interface. Stable doping of graphene with the MSA-PDZ film enabled tuning of the inherent work function and optoelectronic properties of the PEDOT:PSS films, leading to a high figure of merit of ∼70 in the as-fabricated TEs. Particularly, from multivariate and repetitive harsh environmental tests ( T = -50 to 90 °C, over 90 RH%), the TCPI/Gr heterostructure exhibited excellent tolerance to mechanical and thermal stresses and gas barrier properties that protected the MSA-PDZ film from exposure to moisture. Owing to the synergetic effect from the TCPI/Gr/MSA-PDZ anode structure, the TCPI/Gr/MSA-PDZ-based polymer light-emitting diodes showed highly improved current and power efficiencies with maxima as high as 20.84 cd/A and 22.92 lm/W, respectively (comparable to those of indium tin oxide based PLEDs), in addition to much enhanced mechanical flexibility.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of vitamin D supplementation and total cancer incidence and mortality found inconsistent results, and most included trials administered generally low doses of vitamin D (≤1100 IU/day). We updated the meta-analysis by incorporating recent RCTs that have tested higher doses of vitamin D supplements. MATERIALS AND METHODS PubMed and Embase were searched from the inception to November 2018. Summary relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using a random-effects model. RESULTS For total cancer incidence, 10 trials were included [6537 cases; 3-10 years of follow-up; 54-135 nmol/l of attained levels of circulating 25(OH) vitamin D [25(OH)D] in the intervention group]. The summary RR was 0.98 (95% CI, 0.93-1.03; P = 0.42; I2 = 0%). The results remained null across subgroups tested, including even when attained 25(OH)D levels exceeded 100 nmol/l (RR, 0.95; 95% CI, 0.83-1.09; P = 0.48; I2 = 26%). For total cancer mortality, five trials were included [1591 deaths; 3-10 years of follow-up; 54-135 nmol/l of attained levels of circulating 25(OH)D in the intervention group]. The summary RR was 0.87 (95% CI, 0.79-0.96; P = 0.005; I2 = 0%), which was largely attributable to interventions with daily dosing (as opposed to infrequent bolus dosing). No statistically significant heterogeneity was observed by attained levels of circulating 25(OH)D (Pheterogeneity = 0.83), with RR being 0.88 (95% CI, 0.78-0.98; P = 0.02; I2 = 0%) for ≤100 nmol/l and 0.85 (95% CI, 0.70-1.03; P = 0.11; I2 = 0%) for >100 nmol/l. CONCLUSIONS In an updated meta-analysis of RCTs, vitamin D supplementation significantly reduced total cancer mortality but did not reduce total cancer incidence.

Abstract
Human embryonic stem cells (hESC) are being exploited for potential use in cell transplantation due to their capacity for self-renewal and pluripotency. Dopamine (DA) neurons derived from hESC represent a promising source of cell replacement therapy for Parkinson’s disease (PD). While gene expression on the transcriptome level has been extensively studied, limited information is available for the proteome-level changes associated with DA neuron differentiation. Here we analyzed the proteome of differentiating DA neurons to search for the potential biomarkers to assess the efficiency of differentiation. Although the proteome profile of DA neurons did not exhibit significant changes, a number of cytoskeletal proteins including nuclear lamin, tropomyosin 1, and myosin light chain 1 were specifically up-regulated during differentiation. Expression analysis of the respective genes was also consistent with the proteome results. In addition, these differentially expressed proteins form protein interaction network with several PD-related proteins suggesting that they may play roles in PD pathogenesis as well as the maturation of DA neurons.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Exposure to urban particulate matter (UPM) has been studied as a cause of various health problems. Although the association between UPM and the respiratory tract has been well studied, further research is required to characterize the effects of UPM on the upper respiratory tract. We investigated the effects of UPM-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production on cultured human nasal fibroblasts, as well as the protective effects of α-lipoic acid (ALA) on ROS production and the underlying signaling pathways involved in ROS inhibition. METHODS Human turbinate tissue specimens were collected from 6 patients. The effects of UPM on the viability of cultured nasal fibroblasts were determined. A fluorescent malondialdehyde assay was used to measure ROS levels. Real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to measure the messenger RNA levels of genes encoding Nrf2, the antioxidant response elements (AREs) (HO-1, NQO1), and the proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin-6 and interleukin-8) before and after ALA treatment. Western blotting analyses were used to measure nuclear and cytosolic Nrf2 and AREs. RESULTS UPM reduced cell viability and increased ROS expression in nasal fibroblasts. ALA treatment decreased ROS production in UPM-exposed fibroblasts via the Nrf2, HO-1, and NQO-1 pathways. Also, ALA treatment abrogated increases in the interleukin-6 and -8 levels induced by UPM in nasal fibroblasts. CONCLUSION UPM exposure resulted in increased ROS production in nasal fibroblasts. ALA treatment inhibited this increase via the Nrf2 pathway, suggesting that ALA may have a protective effect against rhinitis caused by ROS expression induced by exposure to UPM.

Abstract
As the elements of integrated circuits are downsized to the nanoscale, the current Cu-based interconnects are facing limitations due to increased resistivity and decreased current-carrying capacity because of scaling. Here, the bottom-up synthesis of single-crystalline WTe2 nanobelts and low- and high-field electrical characterization of nanoscale interconnect test structures in various ambient conditions are reported. Unlike exfoliated flakes obtained by the top-down approach, the bottom-up growth mode of WTe2 nanobelts allows systemic characterization of the electrical properties of WTe2 single crystals as a function of channel dimensions. Using a 1D heat transport model and a power law, it is determined that the breakdown of WTe2 devices under vacuum and with AlO x capping layer follows an ideal pattern for Joule heating, far from edge scattering. High-field electrical measurements and self-heating modeling demonstrate that the WTe2 nanobelts have a breakdown current density approaching ≈100 MA cm-2, remarkably higher than those of conventional metals and other transition-metal chalcogenides, and sustain the highest electrical power per channel length (≈16.4 W cm-1) among the interconnect candidates. The results suggest superior robustness of WTe2 against high-bias sweep and its possible applicability in future nanoelectronics.

Abstract
The RENO experiment reports more precisely measured values of θ_{13} and |Δm_{ee}^{2}| using ∼2200 live days of data. The amplitude and frequency of reactor electron antineutrino (ν[over ¯]_{e}) oscillation are measured by comparing the prompt signal spectra obtained from two identical near and far detectors. In the period between August 2011 and February 2018, the far (near) detector observed 103 212 (850 666) ν[over ¯]_{e} candidate events with a background fraction of 4.8% (2.0%). A clear energy and baseline dependent disappearance of reactor ν[over ¯]_{e} is observed in the deficit of the measured number of ν[over ¯]_{e}. Based on the measured far-to-near ratio of prompt spectra, we obtain sin^{2}2θ_{13}=0.0896±0.0048(stat)±0.0047(syst) and |Δm_{ee}^{2}|=[2.68±0.12(stat)±0.07(syst)]×10^{-3} eV^{2}.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Pursuing an alternative access route for transvenous embolization of cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistulas can be challenging in patients with an occluded inferior petrosal sinus. We found that cannulation of even a completely occluded inferior petrosal sinus is feasible, especially when using a standard hydrophilic-polymer-jacketed 0.035-inch guidewire as a frontier-wire for probing. MATERIALS AND METHODS From 2002 to 2017, the frontier-wire technique was tried in 52 patients with occluded inferior petrosal sinuses for transvenous embolization of cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistulas at our center. Technical success was defined as access into the affected cavernous sinus compartment with a microcatheter through the occluded inferior petrosal sinus and deployment of at least 1 coil. The complications and treatment outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS The frontier-wire technique was applied in 52 patients with 57 occluded inferior petrosal sinuses (52 ipsilateral and 5 contralateral inferior petrosal sinuses). Technical success rates were 80.8% (42/52) of patients and 73.7% (42/57) of inferior petrosal sinuses. Alternative transvenous routes were used in 3 patients, and transarterial access was used in 7 patients. Complete embolization of fistulas was achieved in 82.2% (37/45) of patients in the transvenous embolization group and in 14.3% (1/7) of patients in the transarterial group. No procedure-related morbidity or mortality was observed. CONCLUSIONS Transvenous embolization of cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistulas, even through a completely occluded inferior petrosal sinus, is feasible. The difficulty of passing the microcatheter can be minimized by prior probing of the occluded inferior petrosal sinus using a standard 0.035-inch guidewire; the trace of the guidewire on the roadmap image serves as a guide for microcatheter navigation through the inferior petrosal sinus on fluoroscopy.

Abstract
Nucleot(s)ide analogues (NAs) reduce the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. However, the risk of HCC is reportedly higher for NA-treated patients than for patients in the inactive CHB phase. This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes of CHB patients with NA-induced viral suppression and those of patients with inactive CHB. This retrospective study involved 1118 consecutive CHB patients whose HBV DNA level was continuously <2000 IU/mL during follow-up with/without antiviral agents. The patients were classified into inactive CHB (n = 373) or NA groups (n = 745). The primary endpoint was overall survival. Secondary endpoints included development of HCC and other liver-related events. The median duration of follow-up was 41.0 (interquartile range = 26.5-55.0) months. The difference in overall survival between the NA group vs. the inactive CHB group was not significant (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.78; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.33-1.85; P = .57). The NA group showed a significantly higher risk of HCC (HR = 3.44; 95% CI = 1.82-6.52; P < .01), but comparable risk for non-HCC liver-related events (HR = 1.02; 95% CI = 0.66-1.59; P = .93), compared with the inactive CHB group. Among patients with cirrhosis, the NA group showed a significantly lower risk of death (HR = 0.31; 95% CI = 0.097-0.998; P = .05) and non-HCC liver-related events (HR = 0.51; 95% CI = 0.31-0.83; P < .01), but a slightly higher risk of HCC (HR = 2.39; 95% CI = 0.85-6.75; P = .09), compared to the inactive CHB group. The overall survival of untreated patients with inactive CHB and of CHB patients achieving viral suppression with NA was comparable. However, NA treatment of cirrhotic patients was significantly associated with longer overall survival and lower risk of liver-related events.

Abstract
We previously reported that SUMOylation promotes the aggregation of ataxin-1 and JNK is involved in the process. Here we show that dual-specificity phosphatase 18 (DUSP18), a member of protein tyrosine phosphatases, exerts the opposite effects on ataxin-1. DUSP18 associated with ataxin-1 and suppressed JNK activated by ataxin-1. Interestingly DUSP18, but not the other DUSPs interacting with ataxin-1, caused the mobility shift of ataxin-1. De-phosphorylation by DUSP18 was initially suspected as a cause for such an effect; however, the phosphorylation of ataxin-1 was unchanged. Instead DUSP18 inhibited SUMOylation and reduced ataxin-1 aggregation. The catalytic mutant of DUSP18 failed to reduce the SUMOylation and aggregation of ataxin-1 indicating that the phosphatase activity is indispensable for the effects. Moreover, DUSP18 disrupted the co-localization of ataxin-1 with the PML component Sp100. These results together implicate that JNK and DUSP18 reciprocally modulate the SUMOylation, which plays a regulatory role in the aggregation of ataxin-1.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Despite safety measures to minimize the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections, a residual risk remains. To trace and review some such cases, we ask donors to notify the blood centre if they are diagnosed with an infection after they donate blood. MATERIALS AND METHODS We analysed all data on postdonation cases of hepatitis A reported between 2007 and 2012. Archived specimens from these donors were tested for hepatitis A virus (HAV) using anti-HAV IgM/IgG and HAV-PCR as markers. If any of the test results were positive, we reviewed the medical records of the recipients and, if necessary, tested them for hepatitis A. RESULTS Fifteen blood donors notified the blood centres of having been diagnosed with hepatitis A after donation. All archived samples except for one were HAV-PCR-positive and anti-HAV IgM/IgG-negative. Of the donated components, four RBCs and 14 FFPs had not been transfused to patients and were recalled. Among 26 recipients of the implicated components, fourteen were still alive when they were notified. Two patients showed clinical symptoms of hepatitis A and had positive results with anti-HAV IgM. CONCLUSION Transfusion-transmitted hepatitis A is rare but exists. To reduce the risk, donors should be told to notify the blood centre if they are diagnosed with blood-borne diseases after they donate blood. Physicians should consider the possibility of transfusion-transmitted hepatitis A if a transfused patient has hepatitis A but no history of travel or route of faecal-oral infection.

Abstract
Nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) have been shown to decrease the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence. This study evaluated whether high-potency NAs (entecavir and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [TDF]) reduce the risk of tumour recurrence more potently than low-potency NAs after curative treatment of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC. This study included 607 consecutive HBV-related HCC patients treated with surgical resection or radiofrequency ablation. The patients were categorized into three groups according to antiviral treatment: group A (no antiviral; n = 261), group B (low-potency NA; n = 90) and group C (high-potency NA; n = 256). The primary end-point was recurrence-free survival (RFS). During the duration of follow-up, the median RFS was 29.4, 25.1, and 88.2 months in groups A, B and C, respectively (P < .001, log-rank test). The multivariate Cox analysis indicated that group C had a significantly longer RFS than both group A (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] = 0.39, P < .001) and group B (adjusted HR = 0.47, P < .001). When baseline characteristics were balanced using inverse probability weighting, group C still had a significantly longer RFS than group A (adjusted HR = 0.46, P < .001) and group B (adjusted HR = 0.59, P = .007). Group C had significantly lower risk of viral breakthrough than group B (HR = 0.19, P < .001). Viral breakthrough was an independent risk factor for shorter RFS among groups B and C (adjusted HR = 2.03, P = .007, time-dependent Cox analysis). Antiviral agents with high genetic barrier to resistance (entecavir and TDF) reduced the risk of HCC recurrence compared with other antivirals and no antiviral treatment, especially in patients with high baseline viral load.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Data are insufficient regarding the survival benefit of surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). AIM To investigate the effectiveness of HCC surveillance in a hepatitis B-endemic population. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included 1402 consecutive patients who were newly diagnosed with HCC between 2005 and 2012 at a single tertiary hospital in Korea. The primary endpoint was overall survival. Lead-time and length-time biases were adjusted (sojourn time = 140 days) and sensitivity analyses were performed. RESULTS The most common aetiology was hepatitis B (80.4%). Cirrhosis was present in 78.2%. HCC was diagnosed during regular surveillance (defined as mean interval of ultrasonography <8 months, n = 834), irregular surveillance (n = 104) or nonsurveillance (n = 464). Patients in the regular surveillance group were diagnosed at earlier stages ([very] early stage, 64.4%) than the irregular surveillance (40.4%) or nonsurveillance (26.9%) groups and had more chance for curative treatments (52.4%) than the irregular surveillance (39.4%) or nonsurveillance (23.3%) groups (all P < 0.001). Mortality risk was significantly lower in the regular surveillance group (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 0.69; 95% [CI], 0.57-0.83) but not in the irregular surveillance group (aHR, 0.94; 95% CI, 0.69-1.28) compared with the nonsurveillance group after adjusting for confounding factors and lead-time. When the subjects were restricted to cirrhotic patients or Child-Pugh class A/B patients, similar results were obtained for mortality risk reduction between groups. CONCLUSIONS HCC surveillance was associated with longer survival owing to earlier diagnosis and curative treatment. Survival advantage was significant with regular surveillance but not with irregular surveillance.

Abstract
The protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family is a group of multifunctional endoplasmic reticulum (ER) enzymes that mediate the formation of disulfide bonds, catalyze the cysteine-based redox reactions and assist the quality control of client proteins. Recent structural and functional studies have demonstrated that PDI members not only play an essential role in the proteostasis in the ER but also exert diverse effects in numerous human disorders including cancer and neurodege-nerative diseases. Increasing evidence suggests that PDI is actively involved in the proliferation, survival, and metastasis of several types of cancer cells. Although the molecular mechanism by which PDI contributes to tumorigenesis and metastasis remains to be understood, PDI is now emerging as a new therapeutic target for cancer treatment. In fact, several attempts have been made to develop PDI inhibitors as anti-cancer drugs. In this review, we discuss the properties and diverse functions of human PDI proteins and focus on recent findings regarding their roles in the state of diseases including cancer and neurodegeneration.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Segmental intracranial dolichoectasia of the distal ICA is a feature of PHACE syndrome or a sporadic phenomenon. We evaluated the relationship between intracranial dolichoectasia of the distal ICA and PHACE syndrome and illustrated the characteristic radiologic findings of the lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS Intracranial dolichoectasia of the distal ICA was identified in 20 patients at our institution from 2005 to 2016 through a review of diagnostic cerebral angiography results. All radiologic images were reviewed to determine the vascular morphologic dispositions around the distal ICA, including dysplasia, mural calcification, vessel wall enhancement, lumen narrowing, and aneurysm formation. Medical records were reviewed to determine the symptoms of PHACE syndrome. Subsequently, the correlation between radiologic findings and PHACE syndrome was assessed. RESULTS In this cohort, which had a strong female predominance (male/female ratio= 2:18), intracranial dolichoectasia had a more ipsilateral vascular morphologic disposition. Mural calcification was detected more frequently in elderly patients, whereas vessel wall enhancement was detected more frequently in younger patients. Follow-up images showed a slow progression of the lesions. However, no significant differences in the vascular morphologic disposition and brain structural changes were observed between patients with (n = 11) and without (n = 9) PHACE syndrome. CONCLUSIONS The striking elongation and tortuosity of the distal ICA generally appeared to be a type of congenital lesion occurring early in embryogenesis as either a sporadic phenomenon or an arterial change associated with PHACE syndrome. Imaging findings revealed various mural abnormalities with a benign clinical course.

Abstract
Recently, numerous researchers are interested in the development of new air filter because of air pollution caused by rapid industrialization and urbanization. The major concerns in developing air filters are: pressure drop and filtration efficiency which are considered significant. As the pressure drop increases, the energy consumption becomes high. In this study, we developed a novel air filter (polyurethane fiber mat) for nano size filtration using a mass production electrospinning, which is expected to enhance filtration efficiency and pressure drop effects. To determine the optimal electrospinning conditions for filter efficiency, various concentrations (8, 10, 12 wt/wt%) of thermoplastic polyurethane were prepared and employed. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were used for fiber characterization, and finally, efficiency test was conducted to evaluate the filter performance of developed nanofiber-based air filter. From this study, it could be concluded that optimization by adjusting the polymer concentration and electrospinning operating condition was the best efficient alternative method to fabricate nano-fibrous air filter system with improved filtration performance.

Abstract
AIMS This study investigated the association of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), an emerging new risk factor for type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, with the presence of opposite phenotypes of glucose and lipid metabolism among normal-weight Koreans of similar body composition. METHODS Fifty subjects, randomly selected from an ongoing community-based cohort study, from two opposite phenotype groups - metabolically unhealthy normal weight (MUHNW) and metabolically healthy normal weight (MHNW) - were matched for waist circumference, visceral fat mass and demographic variables, then compared for serum concentrations of POPs. RESULTS Most POPs (10 out of 13 compounds) were present in higher serum concentrations in the MUHNW than in the MHNW. In particular, serum concentrations of all compounds of the organochlorine pesticide class were 2.2 to 4.7 times higher in cases than in controls. Compared with the lowest tertile of summary measures of POPs, Odds ratios (95% confidence interval) for the second and third tertiles were 7.4 (1.9-29.4) and 10.4 (2.6-41.2), respectively. Adjusting for possible confounders did not change the results. CONCLUSION Taken altogether, these findings from the present and previous studies suggest that increased serum POP concentrations may play an important role in the development of unhealthy metabolic phenotypes in lean people.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia are premalignant conditions for gastric cancer. Their reversibility by Helicobacter pylori eradication remains controversial. AIM To evaluate the reversibility of atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia by H. pylori eradication with long-term follow-up. METHODS 598 subjects were prospectively enrolled and followed for up to 10 years. They were categorised as H. pylori-negative (n = 65), H. pylori non-eradicated (n = 91), and H. pylori-eradicated (n = 442). Histological assessment was performed for antrum and corpus by Sydney classification. RESULTS Histological follow-up was performed regularly at 1, 2, 3-4 and ≥5 years, with mean follow-up of 1.07 ± 0.21, 2.29 ± 0.83, 3.93 ± 1.02, and 6.45 ± 1.28 years, respectively. Atrophic gastritis in antrum and corpus gradually and significantly (both P < .05 for all timepoints) improved only in the H. pylori-eradicated group compared to that at baseline. Significant difference in atrophic gastritis between H. pylori-eradicated and H. pylori-negative groups disappeared from 1-year follow-up. Similarly, intestinal metaplasia in antrum and corpus improved significantly (both P < .05 for all timepoints) only in the H. pylori-eradicated group in comparison with that at baseline. Significant difference in intestinal metaplasia between H. pylori-eradicated and H. pylori-negative groups disappeared from ≥5 years of follow-up in the antrum and from 3 years of follow-up in the corpus. CONCLUSION H. pylori eradication may be a preventative strategy for intestinal-type gastric cancer by regression of atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia.

Abstract
We estimated heritability () and genetic and phenotypic correlations for carcass and meat quality traits of longissimus dorsi (LD) and semimembranosus (SM) muscles in 30-mo-old Hanwoo steers. Variance and covariance components were estimated using REML procedures under univariate and bivariate models. The mean carcass weight (CWT), eye muscle area (EMA), back fat thickness (BFT), and marbling score (MS) were 428.20 ± 46.30 kg, 87.38 ± 8.54 cm2, 13.00 ± 5.14 mm, and 5.21 ± 1.56, respectively. The mean CIE reflectance of meat lightness (L*), redness (a*), and yellowness (b*) were 40.01 ± 2.73, 22.37 ± 2.18, and 10.35 ± 1.46, respectively, in LD muscles and 36.33 ± 2.44, 22.91 ± 2.43, and 10.25 ± 1.65, respectively, in SM muscles. The mean Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF), intramuscular fat content (IMF), water-holding capacity (WHC), and protein and ash content in LD and SM muscles were 3.84 ± 0.96 and 6.52 ± 1.21 kg, 15.91 ± 4.39 and 5.10 ± 1.94%, 62.07 ± 3.38 and 71.61 ± 2.06%, 20.01 ± 1.39 and 21.34 ± 0.89%, and 0.80 ± 0.10 and 0.93 ± 0.07, respectively. The estimates of CWT, EMA, BFT, and MS were 0.51 ± 0.13, 0.45 ± 0.13, 0.29 ± 0.09, and 0.22 ± 0.08, respectively. The estimates were moderate for meat quality traits and were 0.37 ± 0.12, 0.40 ± 0.12, 0.33 ± 0.10, 0.33 ± 0.10, 0.30 ± 0.11, and 0.24 ± 0.09 for L*, WBSF, IMF, WHC, and protein and ash content, respectively, in LD muscle; estimates from SM muscle were comparatively low (0.08 ± 0.06 to 0.25 ± 0.09). Estimates of for a* and b* were also low (0.08 ± 0.06 to 0.13 ± 0.07). Carcass weight had a moderate, positive genetic correlation with EMA (0.60 ± 0.13) and a weak correlation with MS and BFT. The genetic correlations among the 3 colorimeter variants were strong and positive within and between muscles. Intramuscular fat content had moderate to strong and negative genetic correlations with WBSF (-0.49 ± 0.18), WHC (-0.99 ± 0.01), and protein (-0.93 ± 0.04) and ash content (-0.98 ± 0.06) in LD muscle, whereas the associations were less pronounced in SM muscle. In general, CWT and EMA had low genetic and phenotypic correlations with meat quality traits, which suggests that the traits are independent and have distinct genetic contributions in each muscle. Conversely, with few exceptions, meat quality traits had genetic and phenotypic correlations with MS and BFT. In conclusion, the estimated genetic parameters for carcass and meat quality traits could be used for genetic evaluation and breeding programs in Korean Hanwoo cattle populations.
