Abstract
BACKGROUND Recurrent episodes of painful papules and nodules, mostly located on the labia minora, have been reported under the denominations of vulvar sebaceous adenitis (14 published cases) and vulvar acne (16 published cases). OBJECTIVES The primary aim of this study was to delve further into the clinical and pathological features of this condition. The secondary aim was to collect therapeutic data. METHODS In this retrospective cohort study, files and photographs of patients with papules or nodules on the labia minora or the inner labia majora were extracted from a vulvar clinic database. Clinical, pathological and therapeutic data were analysed. RESULTS Forty-five women were included from 2002 to 2018. The median age at the time of diagnosis was 36 years (range: 16-60). The median time to diagnosis was 6.5 years. Clinical features included recurrent painful papules, pustules or nodules, suppuration (n=22), and pitted scars (n=10) on the labia minora (n=41), the inner labia majora (n=19), the outer labia majora (n=1), and the clitoral hood (n=1). Associated acne vulgaris was seen in 17 out of 26 patients for whom data were available. Hidradenitis suppurativa, androgenic alopecia and hirsutism were observed in 3, 1 and 1 cases respectively. Neutrophilic infiltrates were observed in the 4 available biopsies within or around the Fordyce sebaceous glands in 2 patients. Treatment with tetracyclines and oral zinc was not consistently effective. Isotretinoin led to complete remission in 4 patients unresponsive to tetracyclines. DISCUSSION Vulvar sebaceous adenitis/vulvar acne is a clinically identifiable cause of painful recurrent inflammatory lesions affecting the labia minora and the inner labia majora, which are coincidentally sites of Fordyce granules. We therefore suggest a more specific denomination: "vulvar Fordyce adenitis". The relationship with acne vulgaris and hidradenitis suppurativa requires further investigation. We suggest use of an oral anti-acne therapeutic strategy to reduce inflammation and to decrease the secretion of the sebaceous glands.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hidradenoma papilliferum (HP) is an adenomatous proliferation of mammary-like glands. These glands are located preferentially on the vaginal labia, the perineum and the anal skin. About ninety percent of HP occur on the vulva, with anal localization being much less common. AIM OF THE STUDY To analyze the clinical and histological characteristics of anal HP and compare them to those seen on the vulva based on the literature. METHOD A monocentric retrospective analysis (in the medical and surgical proctology department of the Saint-Joseph Hospital Group, Paris) of patients for whom a diagnosis of anal HP was made based on pathological analysis of a resected sample. RESULTS A total of 14 female patients were included between 2012 and 2018. The mean age was 48.2 years (22-70). The tumor, single in all cases, was asymptomatic with very slow progression. It was located on the anal skin in all patients. It generally consisted of a round nodule measuring under 1cm that was barely prominent, translucent, depressible and mobile. In 15% of patients the tumor was ulcerated. Histologically, the tumor displayed the usual characteristics of HP. Only one relapse was seen, six years after resection. CONCLUSION The clinical and histological aspects of anal HP are the same as those of the vulva, which are better documented, namely a small, rounded, pink, translucent or bluish, and mobile tumor, with a smooth surface, and more rarely ulceration or budding, and in most cases asymptomatic. All HP were diagnosed in women and were located at the anal margin. Histopathological examination of an excised sample confirms the diagnosis and rules out a malignant tumor. The frequency of anal HP may be underestimated.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Miescher's cheilitis, whether occurring alone or as part of Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome, is a rare type of granulomatous inflammation of unknown cause with an even rarer genital equivalent. Herein, we describe a case of the latter condition developing over a 12-year period. PATIENTS AND METHODS A 27-year-old woman presented episodes of unilateral vulvar oedema, which initially regressed but resulted over time in permanent vulvar and perineal tumefaction. Histology revealed epithelioid histocytic granulomas so mild that they were not noticed at the start of the disease. The oedema remained the sole sign for 12years and two gastrointestinal screening tests for Crohn's disease proved negative, diagnosis of the latter condition was ruled out. DISCUSSION Miescher's granulomatous vulvitis requires differential diagnosis, essentially with regard to Crohn's disease. Our case illustrates the difficulty in diagnosing this rare disease as well as the uncertainties surrounding its physiopathology. Diagnosis rests upon repeated sampling and biopsies with repeated levels of sections in order to identify the characteristic perivascular granulomas, which may be very mild.

Abstract
A new experimental setup is presented allowing the simultaneous measurement of adsorption isotherms and adsorption-induced deformations. It is composed of a manometric technique coupled with a digital image correlation setup for full-field displacement measurements. The manometric part is validated by comparing adsorption isotherms with those obtained by a gravimetric method. The principles and methods of both adsorption isotherm and induced deformation measurements are presented in detail. As a first application of this new apparatus, the coupling between adsorption and induced deformation is characterised for a microporous media (activated carbon) saturated by pure CO2 (318.15 K, [0-60] bars) and pure CH4 (303.15 K, [0-130] bars). For this very homogeneous porous material, the induced deformation is characteristic of a pure volumetric swelling but the full-field setup may allow the characterisation of the localised pattern of deformation for heterogenous or cracked microporous media.

Abstract
A novel prototype of calorimetric cell has been developed allowing experiments under pressure with an in situ agitation system and a dynamic control of the pressure inside the cell. The use of such a system opens a wide range of potential practical applications for determining properties of complex fluids in both pressurized and agitated conditions. The technical details of this prototype and its calibration procedure are described, and an application devoted to the determination of phase equilibrium and phase change enthalpy of gas hydrates is presented. Our results, obtained with a good precision and reproducibility, were found in fairly good agreement with those found in literature, illustrate the various interests to use this novel apparatus.

Abstract
A thermodiffusion cell is developed for performing Soret experiments on binary mixtures at high pressure and in the presence of a porous medium. The cell is validated by performing experiments at atmospheric pressure. The experiments are performed by applying different temperature gradients to binary mixtures in order to determine their thermal contrast factor. These measurements provide a first demonstration of the good reproducibility of this kind of measurements upon calibration.

Abstract
A new batch cell has been developed to measure simultaneously both isobaric thermal expansion and isobaric heat capacity from calorimetric measurements. The isobaric thermal expansion is directly proportional to the linear displacement of an inner flexible below and the heat capacity is calculated from the calorimetric signal. The apparatus used was a commercial Setaram C-80 calorimeter and together with this type of vessels can be operated up to 20 MPa and in the temperature range of 303.15-523.15 K, In this work, calibration was carried out using 1-hexanol and subsequently both thermophysical properties were determined for 3-pentanol, 3-ethyl-3-pentanol, and 1-octanol at atmospheric pressure, 5 and 10 MPa, and from 303.15 to 423.15 K in temperature. Finally experimental values were compared with the literature in order to validate this new methodology, which allows a very accurate determination of isobaric thermal expansion and isobaric heat capacity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many mucocutaneous signs associated with iron deficiency are described in the current dermatologic and haematologic literature but genital mucosa involvement has never been reported. CASE REPORT We report a case of iron deficiency anaemia revealed by psoriasis-like vulvar dermatitis. The vulvar involvement dramatically improved after iron therapy. In the case reported herein, iron deficiency resulted from three mechanisms: increased loss (menorrhagia), inadequate dietary iron intake (vegetarian diet) and inadequate absorption (iron absorption inhibitors such as tea). DISCUSSION Iron deficiency may be responsible for genital mucosa involvement. Iron deficiency investigation must determine the presence of blood loss and dietary habits (assessment of iron levels and ingestion of iron absorption inhibitors). Certain dietary recommendations are essential to avoid the failure of iron supplementation.

Abstract
Products which are non absorbable or slowly absorbable make the correction of facial wasting of any origin possible. These highly efficient products are unfortunately sometimes responsible for complications or even undesirable after effects. In order to avoid this the following are necessary: clinical and histological analysis of facias granulomas, a proposal for guidelines for their use which would predict in situ tolerance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Purposely, cosmetic injections in orofacial tissues of various resorbable, biodegradable, or permanent fillers may be followed by development of foreign-body granulomas. The aim of this article is to contribute to the histologic identification of the filler material. METHODS Histologic and clinical features of 11 cases of granulomas on orofacial fillers are described. RESULTS Only 3/11 patients knew the nature of the injected product. Four histologic patterns were found: (i) Artecoll, (ii) Dermalive, and (iii) New-Fill granuloma, all three of the classic giant cell granuloma type, differing in respect of foreign particles; and (iv) Liquid Silicone granuloma, which featured a cystic and macrophagic type. Information was often missing or misleading, patients or practitioners being reluctant to give the details. CONCLUSION Increasing demand for orofacial tissue augmentation makes pathologists face new, and sometimes, puzzling granuloma types. Identification of the foreign product might be required for therapeutic or medico-legal reasons.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Verrucous carcinoma is a rare form of vulvar squamous carcinoma, with particular clinical presentation and histological description. We analyze the specificity of the treatment of this form. MATERIALS AND METHODS We analyzed the records of 8 patients treated in our hospital between 1995 and 2001. In the absence of an associated lesion, the treatment was partial vulvectomy without lymph node dissection. A close follow-up was then organized. RESULTS Mean age was 76 years (range 54 to 92). In 7 out of the 8 cases we found an associated lesion: invasive squamous carcinoma, VIN III or lichen. Two patients later developed a squamous carcinoma. Two others died because of intercurrent diseases. The last four patients are doing well. CONCLUSION We confirm the efficacy of the treatment generally proposed: partial vulvectomy, without lymph node dissection and without complementary treatment but with a close follow-up. The coexistence of other vulvar lesions such as lichen is remarkable in our series.

Abstract
An experimental apparatus was developed to measure, over a wide range of pressure, the acoustical nonlinear parameter B/A with an uncertainty of 2.2% in order to study the influence of pressure on the value of this parameter in liquids. The experimental technique rests on an improved thermodynamic method which uses a highly sensitive phase comparison technique to measure the change in speed of sound with pressure. The apparatus was then used to measure B/A in water within the pressure range from 0.1 to 50 MPa and at temperatures of between 303.15 and 373.15 K. The data obtained were compared with those in the literature which come from numerical derivation of speed of sound measurements.

Abstract
Lymphoepithelial carcinoma is a relatively common malignancy in the nasopharynx, but it rarely occurs in other sites. We report 3 additional cases of cutaneous location. Histopathologically, the tumors consisted of multiple well-circumscribed dermal-hypodermal nodules composed of aggregates of undifferentiated malignant cells. These cells had moderate amounts of eosinophilic cytoplasm and vesicular nuclei with prominent nucleoli. There was no squamous or glandular differentiation. For each case, a heavy lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate was found. No dysplasia was noted in the epidermis. In one case, the tumoral component showed numerous Sternberg-like cells scattered within a lymphocytic background. This case might be mistaken with a Hodgkin's lymphoma. Immunohistochemistry showed that the neoplastic cells were positive for cytokeratin and epithelial membrane antigen. In the present report, studying the stroma reaction cell components, we have stressed the presence of numerous factor XIIIa-positive dendritic cells in 2 cases. Because of the role of these cells in the immune response of normal stroma, their presence herein might be in relation with the favorable prognosis of this type of primary skin carcinoma. No Epstein-Barr viral genomic sequences were detected by in situ hybridization. This negativity for Epstein-Barr virus may be a help in the differential diagnosis from metastatic undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cutaneous malakoplakia is an inflammatory disease characterized by granulomatous accumulation of distinctive phagocytic macrophages. It occurs mainly in visceral or orificial areas; the condition is rarely purely cutaneous, and appears to be extremely rare in childhood. CASE REPORT A facial cutaneous crusted lesion was diagnosed as cutaneous malakoplakia in an immunocompetent child. The lesion had been excised twice and it had recurred, and the diagnosis was made possible only with a third biopsy, after a 2-year chronic expansion. This third biopsy revealed a dense granulomatous inflammation with numerous phagocytic histiocytes containing abundant fine granules and round Michaelis-Gutmann bodies, both staining with PAS, Perls and von Kossa. Biopsy cultures revealed only growth of two different streptococcus (group B) strains. The lesion resolved after a 4-month period of antibiotic therapy, including roxithromycin, ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxasole. DISCUSSION Diagnosis of malakoplakia is mainly made by histopathologic examination of tissue excision or biopsies. There are no specific clinical features. Most reported cases of this uncommon phagocytic reaction to common bacteria have developed in the genitourinary areas (71 p. 100); purely cutaneous localisation, as in our patient, are rare (4 p. 100). Intracytoplasmic granules may result from phagolysosomes and incomplete bacterial killing, with subsequent deposit of iron and calcium in the phagocytic macrophages. A number of reported cases have affected immunocompromised patients with either congenital immunodeficiency or secondary immunodeficiency. The most effective treatment option is based on a protracted antibiotherapy, using drugs that easily permeate the macrophages, e.g. quinolones and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxasole. Lesion may recur after surgical excision.
