Abstract
Antiviral drugs are a class of medications used for treating viral infections. Due to their widespread use, especially in cases of pandemics and limited human metabolism, antivirals have been detected in multiple environmental matrices. This study aims to evaluate the chronic effects of acyclovir, efavirenz, lamivudine and zidovudine using Ceriodaphnia dubia and Raphidocelis subcapitata. The results with R. subcapitata showed the following toxicities: zidovudine (IC50 = 5.442 mg L-1) < acyclovir (IC50 = 3.612 mg L-1) < lamivudine (IC50 = 3.013 mg L-1) < efavirenz (IC50 = 0.034 mg L-1). The results of the chronic bioassay with C. dubia demonstrated that zidovudine is the least toxic (EC50 = 5.671 mg L-1), followed by acyclovir (EC50 = 3.062 mg L-1), lamivudine (EC50 = 1.345 mg L-1) and efavirenz (EC50 = 0.026 mg L-1). Both species have been shown to be sensitive to efavirenz. A risk quotient (RQ) was calculated, and efavirenz had an RQ greater than 1 for both species, and lamivudine had an RQ greater than 1 for C. dubia, representing a high ecological risk for these organisms. Antivirals pose a significant environmental risk to aquatic organisms and should be taken into consideration in future monitoring of water sources.

Abstract
Addition of β-acids extracted from hop at different levels (0, 30mgkg-1, 60mgkg-1, 240mgkg-1) to the diet of broiler chickens demonstrated significant effects on the average concentration of polar metabolites and fatty acids of relevance for meat quality. The largest metabolic differences between control group and chicken fed different levels of β-acids were achieved using 30mgkg-1 of supplement. As determined by EPR spin-trapping, increased redox stability was also obtained for meat from chicken fed 30mgkg-1 of β-acids which also had highest level of endogenous antioxidants, especially anserine, carnosine, NADH and PUFAs. Diet and storage period were found to affect protein oxidation and myosin and actin were recognized as the main targets of protein oxidation. Myofibrillar proteins from chicken fed hop β-acids showed to be less susceptible to oxidation. A moderated level of hop β-acids as dietary supplement accordingly improve the overall redox stability, protecting myofibrillar proteins and fatty acids against oxidation and improve the nutritional properties of meat from broiler chickens.

Abstract
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors have non-hemodynamic, pleiotropic effects on the immune response. The effects of ACE inhibitors on the production of cytokines and T-cell functions are well established. However, little is known on the effects of these medicines on humoral response to foreign antigens. In this study, we investigated the effect of enalapril treatment on ovalbumin (OVA)-specific IgG1 and IgG2c production in mice determined by ELISA. Two groups of 8-week-old C57BL/6 females mice (3-4/group) were subcutaneously immunized with OVA (10 μg/animal) in presence of Alhydrogel (1 mg/mouse) and boosted at day 21. The mice were treated with enalapril (5 mg/kg daily, po) or were left without treatment for one month. The animals were bled from the orbital plexus on days 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 after the first immunization and the sera were stored at -20°C until usage. OVA-specific serum IgG1 and IgG2c were determined by ELISA using serum from each individual animal. The results showed that enalapril significantly increased anti-OVA serum IgG2c in the secondary response without affecting IgG1 synthesis. These data expand our understanding on the properties of enalapril on the immune response, including antibody production.

Abstract
Telchin licus, the giant sugarcane borer, is an important pest species of sugarcane in northeast Brazil. Four subspecies of Telchin licus are recognized in Brazil based on their geographic distribution and subtle differences in wing colour pattern. Some taxa are morphologically indistinguishable, and their accurate identification is key to their efficient control. Mitochondrial genes sequences (cytochrome oxidase I and subunit 6 of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase) were applied to delimit taxonomic entities of T. licus, and to infer the origin of a newly established population in the state of São Paulo. The molecular data indicated that specimens sampled at different regions in Brazil are morphologically cryptic but genetically isolated entities, and at least three subspecies were assigned to the sampled localities. These data also suggested that the population collected from the state of São Paulo must have a common origin with populations from northeast Brazil, which corroborate the hypothesis that ornamental plants infested with larvae of T. licus might have been transported from the northeast to the southeast regions.

Abstract
The sugarcane weevil, Sphenophorus levis, is a wide-spread sugarcane pest in Brazil. Sphenophorus levis may depend on microorganisms that inhabit its intestinal tract. We examined the diversity of the gut microbiota of S. levis, which was characterized using culture-dependent and culture-independent methods. Analysis of 16S rRNA amplified directly from the gut community revealed the presence of 14 genera, one group from the Candidatus category, one uncultured group assigned to the family Flavobacteriaceae, and one uncultured group assigned to the family Enterobacteriaceae; all of them are members of the Alpha-Proteobacteria, Beta-Proteobacteria, Gamma-Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Bacteroidetes phyla. Microorganisms isolated through culture-dependent methods were classified according to morphological parameters and by 16S rRNA gene sequences. In addition to bacteria, four filamentous fungi were isolated. A higher bacterial diversity was observed in field populations of larvae than in laboratory populations, according to the Shannon index (Field H' = 3.36; Laboratory H' = 3.26). Five genera of bacteria and two filamentous fungi were found to have cellulolytic activity. This is the first report of S. levis gut microbiota; it may contribute to development of strategies for controlling this sugarcane pest.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the quality of the medical certification of deaths of 10-49 year-old women, resident in the Southern region of the city of S. Paulo METHODS The Puffer methodology was utilized to investigate the causes of death of all 10-49 year-old women, resident in the region, and deceased in the year 1989 (664 deaths in the total). The main causes of death in the original death certificates and the "new" causes of death arisen from the research were compared. The sensitivity and the kappa index were calculated. RESULTS In some chapters of the International Classification of Diseases and Causes of Death, 9th Revision (CID-9), a high sensitivity was found: "Diseases of the Circulatory System" (91.9%), "Neoplasms" (89.7%) and "External Causes" (84.1 %). In some others, a very low sensitivity was found. The chapter "Mental Illnesses", with a 34.3 percent sensitivity only, must be mentioned. From 11 deaths originally classified in this chapter, 32 cases were found. In most of these "new" cases, the main cause of death was found to be alcoholism. The chapter "Complications of Pregnancy, Delivery and the Puerperium", also showed a low sensitivity (44.9%). The kappa index was found to be 0.63, which indicated a regular concordance. DISCUSSION The quality of the medical certification of causes of death is still unsatisfactory in the studied area. This poor quality may affect negatively the interventions in the area of women's health, masking the severity of important problems

Abstract
The use of video has been described in the literature as favourable to changes in behaviours during communication. This study aimed at verifying the effect of a training programme in the use of categories of confirmation and discordance during the interaction (oral communication) between students and patients. The results evidenced the predominance of confirmation categories in interactions: there were no significant changes in the interaction profile before and after training. Authors concluded that the teaching of communication abilities has to be done during the undergraduate course and not only in one course or period.
