Abstract
Red wine grapes are qualitatively evaluated for their content in polyphenols and anthocyanins. Due to certain conditions (weather, latitude, temperature), the concentration of these compounds may be not at the right level for reaching a high-quality wine, thus postharvest technologies can be operated as a remediation strategy. Ethanol is a secondary volatile metabolite and its application has been demonstrated to delay fruit ripening, to reduce decay, and to increase secondary metabolites. The present study investigates the effects of ethanol post-harvest application on wine grapes' metabolism and composition. Red wine grapes (Vitis Vinifera L. cv Aglianico) were exposed to different ethanol doses (0.25, 0.5, or 1 mL L-1) for 12, 24, or 36 h. Ethanol increased sugar concentration, malic acid, free amino nitrogen, polyphenols, and anthocyanins. Particularly, anthocyanins reached an average value of 1820 mg/L in treated samples versus the 1200 mg/L of control grapes already after 12 h whatever the concentration was. Moreover, the highest concentration of ethanol modified berry metabolism shifting from aerobic to anaerobic one. Obtained results suggest that 12 h of ethanol postharvest treatment could be an interesting solution to improve anthocyanins in wine grapes, especially when the quality is not as good as expected.

Abstract
Menopausal transition entails a progressive decrease in hormone production by the ovaries that lead to important physical and psychological changes that could significantly affect quality of life. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) administered from the onset of menopausal symptoms usually improves quality of life and life expectancy. Nevertheless, it is not risk-free. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) has been investigated as a potential new strategy for delaying menopause and/or to avoid HRT. This review analyzes the critical points of HRT to assess whether OTC and subsequent reimplantation can affect postmenopausal management. We assessed available randomized clinical trials in PubMed, Cochrane Library, ISI web of science, and Scopus from August 2021 to November 2022, including studies and trials evaluating the efficacy of OTC in both cancer and menopausal patients, the efficacy of freezing techniques and the possible clinical scenarios that OTC can open, even from the standpoint of legal and ethical issues arising as such innovative techniques become mainstream. Lower duration of the graft and efficacy on estrogen secretions at a physiological and safer concentration of estrogen than conventional HRT based on hormonal supplements. OTC can reportedly trigger estrogen secretions at a lower and safer physiological concentration than conventional HRT. OTC and subsequent reimplantation remain a valid fertility-sparing approach in patients undergoing gonadotoxic treatments. Further studies are needed to better evaluate its safety and efficacy within postmenopausal therapy management and in order to lay out widely shared and evidence-based guidelines and best practices and perform such novel and innovative techniques in a legally and ethically safe fashion, in the best interest of patients and healthcare professionals.

Abstract
The kinetics of phosphate (P) during a treatment of hemofiltration or hemodiafiltration follows a simple exponential law, and P in 90 min reaches a stationary level that remains constant until the end of the treatment. The theoretical compartmental model cannot be estimated by a dialytic treatment, but a simpler diffusive model may be considered. Once the stationary level is reached, the net flux of P from the inaccessible compartments to the accessible compartment may be estimated via the parameters obtained in the exponential model. Hemodiafiltration seems more efficient than hemofiltration in determining P clearance. Thus an efficiency index that accounts for the period in which P is eliminated from the accessible compartment has been formulated.
