Abstract
High stocking density is a stress factor that potentially affects physiological and immune responses. In this study, the effects of medlar (Mespilus germanica) extract (ME) supplementation on growth performance, antioxidant, immune status, and stress responses in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were studied. Six hundred fish (40.19 ± 1.09 g; average fish weight ± standard error) were distributed randomly into five experimental groups (assayed in triplicates). The experimental diets were formulated as follows: 0 (T1, control), 0.5% (T2), 1% (T3), 1.5% (T4), and 2% (T4). After 60 days feeding trial, the fish were confined, and the density increased (60 kg/m3) for further 14 days. Results showed significant increases in final weight (FW), weight gain (WG), specific growth rate, and feed intake in the T4 compared to the control (P < 0.05). The feed conversion ratio (FCR) in T4 significantly decreased compared to the control (P < 0.05). Also, the treated groups showed significant improvements in catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), lysozyme (LYZ), total immunoglobulin (total Ig), respiratory burst activity (RBA), total protein, and phagocytosis (PHA) (P < 0.05). Moreover, compared with the control group, supplementation could significantly decrease glucose (GLU) and cortisol (CORT), alanine transaminase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate transaminase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (P < 0.05). After the challenge, FW and WG in all treated challenge groups were significantly improved compared to the control group (P < 0.05). FCR showed a significant decrease in all treated challenged groups compared to the control group (P < 0.05). However, malondialdehyde, CAT, GPx, SOD, LYZ, complement activity (C3 and C4), total Ig, RBA, peroxidase, and PHA in challenged treated groups were significantly increased compared to the control group (P < 0.05). All treated challenged groups showed lower ALT, LDH, AST, ALP, GLU, and CORT levels than the control group (P < 0.05). The experiment herein successfully demonstrated that dietary ME stimulated fish growth, antioxidant status, and immune responses in crowding conditions and can be recommended as beneficial feed additives for rainbow trout.

Abstract
Objectives: The present retrospective study analyzed the spectrum of pediatric CNS tumors in a single tertiary hospital in Iraq.
Methods: Data regarding frequencies of various primary CNS tumors (diagnosed according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification), in pediatric patients (<18 yrs. of age), were collected from a single tertiary care hospital in Iraq for a period 2014-2017.
Results: fifty-four children were diagnosed with primary CNS tumors. The most common primary pediatric CNS tumors were medulloblastoma (37%), followed by low grade gliomas (29.6%), high grade gliomas (0.011% ), CNS germinoma (0.09%), supratentorial primitive neuro-ectodermal tumors and ependymomas (0.037% for each). Rare tumors encountered were oligodendrogliomas, choroid plexus carcinoma, and pineoblastoma (0.18% for each). The most common low grade gliomas tumor was pilocytic astrocytoma.
Conclusions: This is the first study reporting the spectrum of CNS tumors in children in Iraq. Except for a higher frequency of CNS germinoma, the profile of other pediatric CNS tumors in Iraq is relatively similar to that reported in other countries.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In psoriasis, keratinocyte hyperplasia may be explained by imbalance of growth factors responsible for epidermal proliferation and altered metabolism of their receptors. Transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-beta1) implications in the pathogenesis of psoriasis can be attributed to several mechanisms besides keratinocyte cell cycle inhibition. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the relation between serum and tissue levels of TGF-beta1 in psoriasis and their correlation with disease parameters. PATIENTS AND METHODS Serum and punch biopsy of involved and non-involved skin of 22 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 10 controls were collected for quantification of TGF-beta1 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. RESULTS Serum level of TGF-beta1 in psoriatic patients was higher than controls in a statistically non-significant manner. Correlations between serum level of TGF-beta1 and extent of the disease (P = 0.007) and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score (P = 0.005) were observed. Mean tissue levels of TGF-beta1 were highest in psoriatic lesions in contrast to normal skin of psoriatic patients and healthy controls, but not statistically significant. Correlation between tissue levels of TGF-beta1 in non-involved skin and extent of the disease (P = 0.007) and PASI score (P = 0.013) was detected. Correlation was detected between levels of TGF-beta1 in psoriatic plaques and serum of patients (P = 0.035), but not between levels of TGF-beta1 in non-involved skin and serum. CONCLUSIONS Tissue expression of TGF-beta1 in psoriasis may be affected by the stage of development of the lesion. The direct relation between TGF-beta1 in psoriatic plaques and serum imply that the mechanisms for TGF-beta1 production and release in both these compartments may be related.

Abstract
We assessed the food safety knowledge and food handling practices of 23 food handlers in 2 hospitals in Alexandria, Egypt [Gamal Abdel Nasser (GAN) and Medical Research Institute (MRI)] before and after a food safety training programme, and also the bacteriological quality of patient meals and kitchen equipment. There was a significant improvement in all knowledge-associated parameters except for personal hygiene in GAN. There was an improvement in the food safety practices in both hospitals. The bacteriological quality of most patient meals and food preparation surfaces and utensils improved after training. The bacteriological quality of patients' meals served in GAN was generally better than that in MRI.

Abstract
AIM Evaluation of narrow band ultraviolet B (NB UVB 311 nm) in the treatment of vitiligo by two independent studies. The first study compared NB UVB with a well-established therapeutic modality, psoralen ultraviolet A (PUVA), and the second study was conducted to find out whether psoralen might add to its efficacy. METHODS In the first study, 15 patients were exposed on the left half of their body to UVB 311 nm and then exposed on their right half to UVA after ingestion of psoralen. In the second study, 20 patients were exposed to UVB 311 nm on the left side of the body, followed by ingestion of psoralen and exposure to NB UVB 311 nm 90 min later to the right side of the body. In both studies, while exposing one side, the other was protected by an UV-proof gown. Thus two right-left comparative studies were carried out simultaneously, namely: UVB 311 nm vs. PUVA and UVB 311 nm vs. PUVB 311 nm. RESULTS In the first study, comparison of PUVA and NB UVB 311 nm showed no difference either in the degree of response or in the incidence of complications. In the second study, comparison of PUVB and UVB showed equal clinical improvement on both sides. The cumulative dose needed to achieve the same response on the PUVB side was lower than that on the UVB side, but the difference was not statistically significant. The incidence of phototoxic reactions was significantly higher on the PUVB treated body half. CONCLUSION NB UVB 311 nm has similar repigmentary effects as PUVA. The addition of psoralen does not increase its efficacy.

Abstract
The objective was to investigate women's perceptions and the perceived stress experience when undergoing surveillance mammography for benign lesions (ACR3, BI-RADS). A semi-prospective study was carried out on women with diagnosed "probably benign" breast abnormalities. It was a multicentric study from 1st March to 10th June 2002. The survey was performed at the first follow-up mammography and included questions about perceptions and perceived stress related to the follow-up experience. The response is analysed with chi-square test. Fifty women (35-75 years) answered the questionnaire. All women were satisfied with reception. The mammographies were painful (23 cases). Subsequent time seemed to be too long (seven cases) and they were anxious in 19 cases. Quality of life was spoiled (disturbed) (20 cases). Professional and social perturbations were not frequent (four cases). Speaking to a relative is frequent (39 cases), but patients were not satisfied with it (33 cases). Medical information was estimated (47 cases) but was not satisfactory (36 cases). The median of the stress scale is 4-5. There are two pickaxes, one at 2 (11 cases), the second at 5 (8 cases). "Low-stressed" women could have an avoidance coping. "High-stressed" women could use a helplessness- hopelessness coping strategy. Women reported a good and informative medical support and adequate comprehension of the short follow-up mammography. They were reassured by the medical care, but the evaluation of the stress level shows it to be high, probably due to the uncertainty of diagnosis.

Abstract
This study aimed to assess the microbiological quality of 90 frozen food samples (50 samples of raw frozen vegetables including molokeya, okra, green peas, peas + carrot, and artichoke, 20 of frozen poultry products and 20 of frozen meat products), and to assess the level of women practice during handling. A cross-sectional study was conducted. Results showed that the mean aerobic mesophilic plate count of frozen vegetables was 3.4 x 10(5) +/- 7.3 x 10(5) cfu/g. The mean mold and yeast count was 3.9 x 10(3) +/- 1.1 x 10(4) cfu/g. The mean coliform count was 3.9 x 10 +/- 6.6 x 10 m.o./g. In case of meat product, the mean aerobic count was 2.3 x 10(5) +/- 3.2 x 10(5), that of mold and yeast was 2.5 x 10(5) +/- 8.8 x 10(5) cfu/g and that of coliform was 3.2 x 10(2) +/- 3.8 x 10(2) m.o./g. Poultry products on the other hand had a mean aerobic count of 6.8 x 10(5) +/- 1.6 x 10(6), a mean mold and yeast count of 3.5 x 10(5) +/- 7.4 x 10(5) cfu/g and a mean coliform count of 6.4 x 10(2) +/- 5.2 x 10(2) m.o./g. Fecal coliforms were detected only in 60.0% of meat product samples and in 45.0% of poultry product samples. On the other hand Staph aureus was detected only in 10.0% of poultry product samples. Difference between the 5 types of vegetables was statistically significant (P = 0.00, and 0.02, respectively) for total plate and mold and yeasts counts. Among the 113 interviewed women, 80 used frozen food products. Twenty six of them (32.5%) had scores < 50%, those were classified as being bad as they were handling frozen food improperly which would contribute to outbreaks of food borne diseases. Less than 4% of the users used satisfactory practice during handling frozen foods. Illiteracy affected significantly the level of practice.

Abstract
This clinical report describes an 11-yr-old Thoroughbred mare that presented with clinical signs of weight loss and hematuria. History and clinical findings suggested the mare had neoplasia of the urogenital system. Although ultrasound-guided biopsy of the perirenal mass did not yield abnormal cells, large irregular cells were isolated from the thoracic and peritoneal fluid. At necropsy, multiple firm nodules were disseminated throughout the peritoneal cavity. Histological examination of the nodules revealed cells that were consistent with a pancreatic exocrine adenocarcinoma. This is the first report of pancreatic adenocarcinoma causing dysfunction of the urogenital system.

Abstract
The participation of gonadal steroid hormones in regulation of the vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) gene expression in the hypothalamus was studied using a quantitative densitometric hybridization assay. In the female rat the levels of VIP mRNA were found to be significantly decreased following ovariectomy (4.41 +/- 0.7 arbitrary units of absorbance vs. 8.52 +/- 0.18). This decrease was largely reversed after three days of treatment with estradiol dibenzoate. In contrast to the female rats, no significant change in VIP mRNA levels was observed in the male rats, following orchidectomy. These results suggest a sexual dimorphism with regard to the steroid regulation of hypothalamic VIP gene expression in the rat.
