Abstract
AIMS The aim of this study was to investigate the levels of pandemic-related fear, depression, stress and anxiety in pregnant women in different trimesters after the pandemic and to examine their relationship with psychological resilience. Methods: A total of 250 women were included in the study, including 125 pregnant women and 125 healthy controls. The participants were divided into three groups according to their trimester of pregnancy. The Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale 21 (DASS-21), the Epidemic Disease Anxiety Scale (EDAS) and the Short Psychological Resilience Scale (SPRS) were used to measure depression, anxiety, stress and psychological resilience. Results: Pregnant women had significantly higher DASS-21 total scores [19 (4-42) ] than healthy controls [11 (1-42) ], P = 0.001. The prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress was 23.2%, 44% and 20% respectively in pregnant women compared to 12.8%, 31.2% and 9.6% in healthy controls. DASS-21 total scores were highest in the 1st (21.2 ± 5.8) and 3rd (22.8 ± 8.9) trimesters and lowest in the 2nd (16.1 ± 6.9) trimesters. The DASS-21 total score was positively correlated with the EDAS total score and the pandemic perception subscale. SPRS total score was negatively correlated with anxiety, stress and DASS-21 total score. Conclusion: Pregnant women experienced higher levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and pandemic anxiety than non-pregnant women in the post-pandemic period. Psychological resilience was negatively associated with depression, anxiety, and stress in pregnant women. These findings indicate that the pandemic negatively affects the mental health of pregnant women and the importance of providing psychological support services to protect their mental health.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the protective efficacy of anise in cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury in rats. In this study, 28 Wistar Albino rats, weighing 250-300 grams (g), were used. Four groups were formed with 7 rats in each group. Group 1 (n=7): Control group, Group 2 (n=7): Anise group, 5 mL/kg/day of anise aqueous extract prepared according to Gamberini's protocol was given orally by gavage for 30 days. Group 3 (n=7): Cerebral ischemia reperfusion (CIR) group, at the beginning of the experiment, 30 minutes of cerebral ischemia and 1 hour of reperfusion were induced and the animals were sacrificed by exanguination. Group 4 (n=7): Anise+ CIR group, After administering 30 days of anise's aqueous extract, CIR was induced and the study was terminated. TOS values of the Anise+ CIR group was significantly lower than that of the CIR group (p<0.05). Il-6 and TNF-α values of the CIR group were significantly higher than the Anise+ CIR group (p<0,05). Our study revealed that anise ameliorates oxidative damage and inflammation due to cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, by reducing the levels of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, Il-6).

Abstract
Aldose reductase (AR) is the first and rate-limiting enzyme of the polyol pathway, which converts glucose to sorbitol in an NADPH-dependent reaction. α-Glycosidase breaks down starch and disaccharides to glucose. Hence, inhibition of these enzymes can be regarded a considerable approach in the treatment of diabetic complications. AR was purified from sheep liver using simple chromatographic methods. The inhibitory effects of pyrazolyl-thiazoles ((3aR,4S,7R,7aS)-2-(4-{1-[4-(4-bromophenyl)thiazol-2-yl]-5-(aryl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl}phenyl)-3a,4,7,7a-tetrahydro-1H-4,7-methanoisoindole-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives; 3a-i) on AR and α-glycosidase enzymes were investigated. All compounds showed a good inhibitory action against AR and α-glycosidase. Among these compounds, compound 3d exhibited the best inhibition profiles against AR, with a Ki value of 7.09 ± 0.19 µM, whereas compound 3e showed the lowest inhibition effects, with a Ki value of 21.89 ± 1.87 µM. Also, all compounds showed efficient inhibition profiles against α-glycosidase, with Ki values in the range of 0.43 ± 0.06 to 2.30 ± 0.48 µM, whereas the Ki value of acarbose was 12.60 ± 0.78 µM. Lastly, molecular modeling approaches were implemented to predict the binding affinities of compounds against AR and α-glycosidase. In addition, the ADME analysis of the molecules was performed.

Abstract
Sulfonamides known as inhibitors of many metabolic enzymes have been widely used as antimicrobial drugs for a long time. In the present study, we investigated in vitro inhibitory activities of benzenesulfonamide derivatives on human paraoxonase-I (hPON1). For this aim, PON1 was purified from human serum with a specific activity of 2603.57 EU/mg and 8.34% yield using simple chromatographic methods. The various concentrations of early-synthesized sixteen sulfonamide derivatives were tested on the paraoxonase activity. Ki values of compounds were found in the range of 0.28-357.70 µM. Compound H4 had the highest inhibitory activity on hPON1 as competitive. Estimated structure-activity relationship (SAR) for compounds was done based on different substituents and their positions in the compounds. Besides, the molecular docking analysis of compound H4 was performed to understand the binding interactions on the active site of the enzyme. According to these experimental results, compound H4 was a potential inhibitor of PON1.

Abstract
AIM Ectopic pregnancies account for 10-15% of all maternal deaths. Rupture of an ectopic pregnancy is an urgent medical situation, therefore prediction of any tubal rupture before its occurrence is extremely important. The aim of this study was to evaluate the tubal rupture rate in different treatment modalities in EP cases and to find a hCG level on admission and/or size of ectopic mass predictive for tubal rupture. METHODS Demographic data and medical data were extracted from patient charts for 211 cases who had diagnosis of tubal ectopic pregnancy. Women with tubal rupture were compared to those without rupture. RESULTS Expectant management, single dose methotrexate and primary surgical treatment were applied to 83 cases (39%), 93 cases (44%) and 35 cases (17%), respectively. The tubal rupture occurred in 14.7% of the study population. If the EP mass diameter is <2 cm, no tubal rupture was found. hCG values at admission were found to be predictive for rupture. On admission, hCG level of 1855 IU/L had 93.5%, sensitivity and 29% positive predictive value for tubal rupture. CONCLUSION In tubal ectopic pregnancy cases, hCG level on admission and size of ectopic pregnancy mass can predict tubal rupture.

Abstract
Milky spots are opaque patches in the greater omentum. They were first described by von Recklinghausen (1863) in the omentum of rabbits. In man, milky spots are relatively uniform, highly vascularized accumulations of mononuclear cells. The objective of this study was to describe in human omental lymphoid tissue components with S-100. Tissue samples (greater omentum) were collected from 14 patients operated with different reasons in our Department of General Surgery, in order to histologically present the presence of S-100 in the cells making up the milky spots in human omentum tissue. Tissue samples were cut approximately 5-8 micrometer thick with frozen-sections and stained with an indirect immunoperoxidase technique, as described previously. Then milky spots were examined by light microscopy. These data indicate that unstimulated milky spots in the human greater omentum are to a great extent just a preformed specific accumulation of primarily macrophages within the stroma of the greater omentum, secondarily B- and T-lymphocytes. In addition to these cells, we observed that a few mast and reticular cells were seen in the milky spots by S-100 reactive cross-sections of greater omentum. In the human omentum tissue that was stained with indirect immunoperoxidase method using anti S-100 monoclonal antibody, an arteriole cross-section in the center, reactive nerve cross-sections in the adjacent stroma and endogenic peroxidase reactivity in a few granulocytes in omental tissue were observed.

Abstract
Ovarian mucinous tumors stem from ovarian surface epithelium and are divided into benign, borderline and malignant. It is difficult to differentiate borderline and malignant mucinous tumors. Thirty-eight cases of ovarian mucinous tumors which were diagnosed at the Pathology Department of Dicle University Medical Faculty were reviewed. Of these, 18 (47.3%), six (15.7%) and 14 (36.8%) were benign, borderline and malignant, respectively. The patients' ages ranged from 18 to 67 (average 44.5) years. Bilaterality was detected in 1/18 (5.5%), 0/6 and 4/14 (28.5%) of benign, borderline and malignant mucinous tumors, respectively. Mean tumor size was 26.4 cm. Microscopically, there was no stratification in the benign tumors. The borderline tumors had papillary infoldings and 2-3 layers of atypical epithelial cells but no invasion of the stroma. Malignant tumors had four or more layers of atypical epithelial cells and stromal invasion.

Abstract
The dithiocarbamates are known to cause dermatitis, conjunctivitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis and bronchitis in humans. The experimental group received Propineb (obtained from Bayer) concentrations of 400 ppm in distilled water five days a week (treatment time three weeks) administered orally by gasric pit. Acute oral LD50 for male rats has been found to be 8,500 mg/kg (Worthing, 1983). The control group (n = 10) received only distilled water. At ultrasonographical examination, there were no resorbed fetuses or stillborns during or after propineb administration. It can be clearly seen that the body weights of the experimental group of litters are lower than those of the control group (p < 0.001). However, the mean length of the experimental litters was identical to the control group of litters (p > 0.05). Under microscopical examination, increased keratinization and hyperplasia were observed in the epidermal cells.

Abstract
Zinc iodide-osmium tetroxide (ZIO) fixation/staining technique is a metallophilic technique which has been used for the examination of various tissues and cell types. We examined the ZIO (+) cell types in rat exocrine pancreas to obtain further evidence for the significance of the reaction. Among mostly non-reactive pancreatic acinar cells there were ZIO (+) acinar cells of varying staining intensity. Zymogenic granules and centroacinar cells were completely non-reactive. Our electron microscopic findings support the view that the reactivity of the technique used is cell specific but not cell type or organelle specific.
