Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics of patients with rheumatic diseases and abnormal liver function, as well as determine the proportion and severity of liver function abnormalities. Methods: Cross-sectional study. Data were collected from patients registered in the Chinese Rheumatism Date Center from 2011 to 2021. The rheumatic diseases analyzed in this study were rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren syndrome (SS), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and gout. Patient data, including demographic characteristics [ such as age, sex, body mass index,(BMI), and smoking history], liver function test results [including alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase(ALP), and total bilirubin], and use of anti-rheumatic immune drugs and liver-protective drugs, were collected and compared between groups with normal and abnormal liver functions. In addition, the proportions of abnormal liver function were compared between sex and age groups. Results: A total of 116 308 patients were included in this study, including 49 659 with RA, 17 597 with SLE, 9 039 with SS, 11 321 with AS, and 28 692 with gout. The lowest proportion of liver function abnormalities was observed in patients with RA[11.02% (5 470/49 659)], followed by those with SS[17.97% (1 624/9 039)] and AS [18.22% (2 063/11 321) ], whereas patients with SLE [21.14% (3 720/17 597) ] and gout [28.73% (8 242/28 692)] exhibited the highest proportion of these abnormalities. Elevated ALT, mostly classified as grade 1, was the most commonly noted liver function abnormality, whereas elevated ALP was the least common. Some patients who took liver-protective drugs had normal liver function, with the lowest percentage observed in patients with gout [7.45% (36/483) ] and ranging from 21.7% to 30.34% in patients with RA, SLE, SS, and AS. The proportion of liver function abnormalities was higher in males than in females for all disease types [RA: 13.8%(1 368/9 906) vs. 10.3%(4 102/39 753); SLE: 33.6% (479/1 424) vs. 20.0% (3 241/16 173); SS: 25.4%(111/437) vs. 17.6%(1 513/8 602); AS: 20.1%(1 629/8 119) vs. 13.6% (434/3 202); and gout: 29.3% (8 033/27 394) vs. 16.1% (209/1 298)]. In RA, SLE, and AS, the proportions of liver function abnormalities were similar across all age groups. In SS, the proportion of liver function abnormalities increased with age [<40 years: 14.9%(294/1 979); 40-59 years: 18.1%(858/4 741); ≥60 years: 20.4%(472/2 319)], whereas a reversal of this trend was observed in gout [<40 years: 34.9%(4 294/12 320); 40-59 years: 25.5%(2 905/11 398);≥60 years: 21.0%(1 042/4 971)]. Conclusions: The proportions of combined liver function abnormalities in patients with rheumatologic diseases were high, and the utilization rates of liver-protective drugs were low. It is necessary to pay more attention to monitoring patients' liver function, timely administer liver-protective drugs, and optimize liver-protective regimens during the treatment of rheumatic diseases.

Abstract
Sulfide-based solid-state lithium-ion batteries (SSLIB) have attracted a lot of interest globally in the past few years for their high safety and high energy density over the traditional lithium-ion batteries. However, sulfide electrolytes (SEs) are moisture-sensitive which pose significant challenges in the material preparation and cell manufacturing. To the best of our knowledge, there is no tool available to probe the types and the strength of the basic sites in sulfide electrolytes, which is crucial for understanding the moisture stability of sulfide electrolytes. Herein, we propose a new spectral probe with the Lewis base indicator BBr3 to probe the strength of Lewis basic sites on various sulfide electrolytes by 11B solid-state NMR spectroscopy (11B-NMR). The active sulfur sites and the corresponding strength of the sulfide electrolytes are successfully evaluated by the proposed Lewis base probe. The probed strength of the active sulfur sites of a sulfide electrolyte is consistent with the results of DFT (density functional theory) calculation and correlated with the H2S generation rate when the electrolyte was exposed in moisture atmosphere. This work paves a new way to investigate the basicity and moisture stability of the sulfide electrolytes.

Abstract
Developing an efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst for environmental remediation and treatment strategies using visible light harvesting processes is promising but challenging. Herein, Cd1-xCuxS materials have been synthesized and characterized by precise analytical tools. Cd1-xCuxS materials exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for direct Red 23 (DR-23) dye degradation in visible light irradiation. The operational parameters, like dopant concentration, photocatalyst dose, pH, and initial concentration of dye were investigated during the process. The photocatalytic degradation process follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. As compared to other tested materials, 5% Cu doped CdS material revealed superior photocatalytic performance for the degradation of DR-23 (k = 13.96 × 10-3 min-1). Transient absorption spectroscopy, EIS, PL, and transient photocurrent indicated that adding copper to the CdS matrix improved the separation of photo-generated charge carriers by lowering the recombination rate. Spin-trapping experiments recognized the photodegradation primarily based on secondary redox products, i.e., hydroxyl and superoxide radicals. According to by Mott-Schottky curves, photocatalytic mechanism and photo-generated charge carrier density were elucidated regarding dopant-induced valence and conduction bands shifting. Thermodynamic probability of radical formation in line with the altered redox potentials by Cu doping has been discussed in the mechanism. The identification of intermediates by mass spectrometry study also showed a plausible breakdown mechanism for DR-23. Moreover, samples treated with nanophotocatalyst displayed excellent results when tested for water quality metrics such as DO, TDS, BOD, and COD. Developed nanophotocatalyst shows high recyclability with superior heterogeneous nature. 5% Cu-doped CdS also exhibit strong photocatalytic activity for the degradation of colourless pollutant bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light (k = 8.45 × 10-3 min-1). The results of this study offer exciting opportunities to alter semiconductors' electronic band structures for visible-light-induced photocatalytic activity for wastewater treatment.

Abstract
In this study, we demonstrated the synthesis of potassium chloride (KCl)-incorporated graphitic carbon nitride, (g-C3N4, CN) with varying amounts of N-vacancies and pyridinic-N as well as enhanced Lewis basicity, via a single-step thermal polymerization by tailoring the precursors of melamine and urea for carbon oxide (CO2) capture. Melamine, as a precursor, undergoes a phase transformation into melam and triazine-rich g-C3N4, whereas the addition of urea polymerizes the mixture to form melem and heptazine-rich g-C3N4 (CN11). Owing to the abundance of pyridinic-N and the high surface area, CN11 adsorbed higher amounts of CO2 (44.52 μmol m-2 at 25 °C and 1 bar of CO2) than those reported for other template-free carbon materials. Spectroscopic analysis revealed that the enhanced CO2 adsorption is due to the presence of pyridinic-N and Lewis basic sites on the surface. The intermediates of CO2adsorption, including carbonate and bicarbonate species, attached to the CN samples were identified using in-situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). This work provides insights into the mechanism of CO2 adsorption by comparing the structural features of the synthesized KCl-incorporated g-C3N4 samples. CN11, with an excellent CO2 uptake capacity, is viewed as a promising candidate for CO2 capture and storage.

Abstract
Despite the modern boost, developing a new photocatalytic system for the reduction of aldehydes is still challenging due to their high negative reduction potential. Herein, we have used a metal-free photoinduced electron-transfer system based on a cheap and readily available organic dye eosin Y (EY), graphene oxide (GO), and ammonium oxalate (AO) for photocatalytic reduction of structurally diverse aldehydes under sustainable conditions. The protocol shows remarkable selectivity for the photocatalytic reduction of aldehydes over ketones. The decisive interaction of GO and AO with the various states of EY (ground, singlet, triplet, and radical anions), which are responsible for the commencement of the reaction, was examined by various theoretical, optical, electrochemical, and photo-electrochemical studies. The synergetic system of GO, EY, and AO is appropriate for enhancing the separation efficiency of visible-light-induced charge carriers. GO nanosheets act as an electron reservoir to accept and transport photogenerated electrons from the photocatalytic system to the reactant. The reduction of the GO during the process ruled out the back transfer of photoexcited charges. Control experiments explained that the reaction involves two stages: electron transfer and protonation. This process eliminates the necessity of precious-metal-based photocatalysts or detrimental sacrificial agents and overcomes the redox potential limitations for the photoreduction of aldehydes.

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and the leading cause of old age disability, affecting an estimated 302 million people worldwide. OA is seriously overlooked in the world. The awareness of OA and the popularization of standardized diagnosis and treatment are all lacking. Knees, hips, and hands are the most commonly affected joints in OA. Based on the experience of diagnosis and treatment, consensus and guidelines, we formulated this diagnosis and treatment standard in order to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of OA. We hope that our standard can reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment and improve the prognosis of OA.

Abstract
Klotho is a putative aging suppressor gene that is primarily expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells. Its expression has been reported to protect against fibrosis in human chronic kidney disease. However, the roles of klotho in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and renal fibrosis are yet to be elucidated. The present study aimed to investigate the putative roles of klotho in angiotensin (Ang) II-induced damage of renal tubular epithelial cells. NRK-52E rat cells were treated with various combinations of Ang II, the Ang-converting enzyme inhibitor fosinopril (Fos) and the Ang II receptor antagonist valsartan (Val). The levels of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, soluble klotho, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and E-cadherin in NRK-52E culture supernatants were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Furthermore, the mRNA and protein expression of TGF-β1, klotho, α-SMA and E-cadherin was detected using semiquantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, immunocytochemistry and Western blot analysis. The results demonstrated that Ang II inhibited the expression of klotho and E-cadherin, while it upregulated the expression of TGF-β1 and α-SMA, in NRK52E cells. Fos and/or Val were revealed to enhance klotho and E-cadherin expression, and suppress the expression of TGF-β1 and α-SMA, compared with the Ang II-only group. Furthermore, a positive linear correlation was detected between the expression of klotho and E-cadherin, while negative linear correlations with klotho expression were detected for TGF-β1 and α-SMA expression. In conclusion, the expression of klotho was demonstrated to be enhanced following treatment with Fos and Val in Ang II-treated NRK-52E cells. The present results indicate that klotho may be involved in the inhibition of Ang II-induced EMT in renal tubular epithelial cells. Therefore, klotho may serve as a protective factor in renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis and aid the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients using precision therapy.

Abstract
Background Frontal fullness in Asians is often considered to indicate one’s public popularity and leadership skills. Numerous materials and techniques have been applied clinically to recontour or volumize the frontal area, with variable results. The micro-autologous fat transplantation (MAFT) technique proposed by Lin et al. (2nd academic congress of Taiwan Cosmetic Association Taipei,
Taiwan) in 2007 has demonstrated its feasibility in facial rejuvenation. In the present study, we used an innovative instrument to apply the MAFT technique to frontal augmentation with fat grafting and reported the results. Methods MAFT was performed on 178 patients (167 female, 11 male) during a 5-year period starting in January 2010. Fat was harvested by liposuction, processed and refined by centrifugation at 1200×g for 3 min. The purified fat was micro-transplanted for frontal contouring with the assistance of an instrument, the MAFT-GUN. The patients were followed up regularly, and photographs were taken for comparison. Results On average, the MAFT procedure took 52 min to complete. The average amount of delivered fat was 10.2 mL. The follow-up period was 34 months on average. No complications, including neurovascular injury, skin necrosis, abscess, nodulation, calcification or irregularity, were noted. A patient-rated satisfaction 5-point Likert scale demonstrated that 83.1% of all patients had favorable results (48.3% were satisfied, and 34.8% were very satisfied). Conclusion The concept and technique of MAFT has changed fat grafting from an operation with unpredictable clinical results to an easy, reliable and consistent procedure. Furthermore, the use of a precisely controlled instrument enabled surgeons to perform highly accurate micro-fat grafting. In comparison with other strategies for volume restoration, the MAFT procedure demonstrated high patient satisfaction with the long-term results. Therefore, the use of MAFT as an alternative approach to forehead contouring and volumizing was addressed. Abstract
We have designed and fabricated high-performance single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) by using 0.18-µm high-voltage CMOS technology. Without any technology customization, the SPADs have low dark-count rate, high photon-detection probability, low afterpulsing probability, and acceptable timing jitter and breakdown voltage. Our design provides a low-cost and high-performance SPAD for various applications.

Abstract
Hydrogen production through the use of renewable raw materials and renewable energy is crucial for advancing its applications as an energy carrier. In this study, we fabricated a solid oxide solution of Cu and Ni within a confined pore space, followed by a partial reduction, to produce a highly efficient catalyst for ethanol steam reforming (ESR). At 300 °C, EtOH is completely converted, a H2 yield of approximately 5 mol per mol is achieved, and CO2 is the main carbon-containing product. This demonstrates that H2 production from bioethanol is an efficient and sustainable approach. Such a highly efficient ESR catalyst is attributed to the ability of the metal-oxide interface to facilitate the transformation of CHx adspecies from acetaldehyde decomposition into methoxy-like adspecies, which are reformed readily to produce H2 and consequently reduce CH4 formation.

Abstract
The light irradiation parameters, including the wavelength spectrum and intensity of light source, can significantly influence a photocatalytic reaction. This study examines the propylene photo-epoxidation over V-Ti/MCM-41 photocatalyst by using artificial sunlight (Xe lamp with/without an Air Mass 1.5 Global Filter at 1.6/18.5 mW·cm(-2)) and ultraviolet light (Mercury Arc lamp with different filters in the range of 0.1-0.8 mW·cm(-2)). This is the first report of using artificial sunlight to drive the photo-epoxidation of propylene. Over V-Ti/MCM-41 photocatalyst, the propylene oxide (PO) formation rate is 193.0 and 112.1 µmol·gcat (-1)·h(-1) with a PO selectivity of 35.0 and 53.7% under UV light and artificial sunlight, respectively. A normalized light utilization (NLU) index is defined and found to correlate well with the rate of both PO formation and C3H6 consumption in log-log scale. The light utilization with a mercury arc lamp is better than with a xenon lamp. The selectivity to PO remains practically unchanged with respect to NLU, suggesting that the photo-epoxidation occurs through the same mechanism under the conditions tested in this study.

Abstract
We report an endlessly single mode, fiber-optic confocal microscope, based on a large mode area photonic crystal fiber. The microscope confines a very broad spectral range of excitation and emission wavelengths to a single spatial mode in the fiber. Single-mode operation over an optical octave is feasible. At a magnification of 10 and λ = 900 nm, its resolution was measured to be 1.0 μm (lateral) and 2.5 μm (axial). The microscope's use is demonstrated by imaging single photons emitted by individual InAs quantum dots in a pillar microcavity.

Abstract
Platinum nanoparticles of 2-3 nm average size and ca. +/-2 nm distribution can be successfully prepared by methanol reduction while using sodium citrate as the stabilizer. Sol formation was investigated by UV-visible spectroscopy and EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy). The formation of Pt nanoparticles was confirmed by the presence of Pt-Pt bonding in the solution after a certain induction period in methanol-reduced sol with or without citrate. The possible two-step reduction of Pt(IV) was revealed by correlating EXAFS, UV-visible spectra and pH data. The presence of citrate resulted in a smaller Pt-Pt coordination number and a slower sol formation process. All these results prove that citrate acted as the stabilizer in this synthesis.

Abstract
Platinum sols have been prepared by citrate reduction in the temperature range of 343-363 K. The Pt state in the solution was examined by EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine-structure spectroscopy). It did not show any PtPt bonding, a characteristic for reduced Pt sols. EXAFS model fitting further proved the presence of PtO with 4 oxygen neighbors, which suggests a tetraplanar coordination configuration. The possibility of neighboring Pt sharing oxygen ligand or the formation of PtO(x) is rejected by EXAFS model fitting. Citrate was found to be the most likely ligand to orient its oxygen end toward a charged Pt center. Thus we have revealed that the citrate treatment at this temperature range was clearly insufficient to reduce H2PtCl(6(aq)). Neither an extended period of reaction time nor an excess citrate reduced the Pt precursor. It is therefore highly recommended that the citrate sols should be carefully prepared and used.

Abstract
The healing of a hamstring graft to bone is the weak link in the reconstruction of a cruciate ligament using this donor material. We therefore investigated the augmentation of healing at the tendon-bone interface using calcium-phosphate cement (CPC). We performed semitendinosus autograft reconstructions of the anterior cruciate ligament on both knees of 22 New Zealand white rabbits. The interface between the grafted tendon and the bone tunnel for one knee was filled with CPC. Six rabbits were killed at the end of the first and second post-operative weeks in order to evaluate the biomechanical changes. Two rabbits were then killed sequentially at the end of weeks 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 after operation and tissue removed for serial histological observation. Histological examination showed that the use of CPC produced early, diffuse and massive bone ingrowth. By contrast, in the non-CPC group of rabbits only a thin layer of new bone was seen. Mechanical pull-out testing at one week showed that the mean maximal tensile strength was 6.505 ± 1.333 N for the CPC group and 2.048 ± 0.950 N for the non-CPC group. At two weeks the values were 11.491 ± 2.865 N and 5.452 ± 3.955 N, respectively. Our findings indicate that CPC is a potentially promising material in clinical practice as regards its ability to reinforce the fixation of the tendon attachment to bone and to augment the overall effectiveness of tendon healing to bone.

Abstract
The key difficulty of skin grafting is keeping the graft immobilized on uneven surfaces involved with motion, such as the nuchal area, axilla, web spaces, and the perineal area. This study reports the development of a new idea of negative pressure dressing (NPD) to maintain good immobilization of the skin graft and, at the same time, not cause any significant distress in the patient's daily life. Furthermore, the components of this dressing are available in ordinary hospitals. In this report, there are eight cases of skin grafts which were applied by this method, and the average success rate was approximately 97%. Therefore, use of negative pressure dressings to safeguard immobilization of the skin graft is an appropriate alternative method for grafts on uneven or mobile surfaces.

Abstract
The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap is now accepted as the standard for breast reconstruction, but achieving symmetrical breast reconstruction is still a challenge. A precise estimate of the volume of the flap is necessary to reconstruct a symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing breast. Many methods have been developed to overcome this problem, but they have not been suitable for the pedicled TRAM flap. By using a self-made device based on the Archimedes' principle, the authors can calculate accurately the volume of the pedicled TRAM flap and predict reliably the breast volume intraoperatively. The "procedure" is based on a self-made box into which the pedicled TRAM flap is placed. Warm saline is added to the box and the flap is then removed. Flap volume is calculated easily by determining the difference between the preestimated volume of the box and the volume of the residual water. From February to May 2000, this method was used on 28 patients to predict breast volume for breast reconstruction. This study revealed that the difference of the maximal chest circumferences (the index of the breast volume) demonstrates a positive correlation with the difference of the volumes and weights between the mastectomy specimen and the net TRAM flap. However, a more closely positive correlation exists between the differences of maximal chest circumference volume (r = 0.677) than maximal chest circumference weight (r = 0.618). These data reveal that the reconstructed breast's volume has a closer relationship with the volume of the net pedicled TRAM flap, rather than with its weight.

Abstract
The 24p3 protein is a 25 KDa glycoprotein, having been purified from mouse uterine fluid. Thr54, Ser88, and Thr128/Ser129 on the protein molecule were predicted to be the phosphorylation site of casein kinase II, protein kinase C, and cAMP-dependent protein kinase, respectively. Incorporation of phosphate to this protein from [gamma-32P]-ATP was tested in the solution suitable for the three kinases. Neither casein kinase II nor cAMP-dependent protein kinase reacted to the 24p3 protein; however, protein kinase C demonstrated phosphorylation to this protein. This phosphorylation may be competing with a polypeptide segment: Arg79-Tyr-Trp-Ilu-Arg-Thr-Phe-Val-Pro-Ser88-Ser-Arg-Ala-Gly-Gln-Phe-Thr-Leu-Gly97 in the 24p3 protein molecule. To support this theory, Ser88 is a phosphorylation site of protein kinase C on 24p3 protein. The enzyme kinetic parameter, based on the Michaelis-Menten equation, determined Km to be 2.96 microM in the phosphorylation of 24p3 protein by the kinase. Both of the phosphorylated and dephosphorylated form of 24p3 protein can enhance the cAMP-dependent protein kinase activity in vitro. In addition, this experiment will show for the first time that serine-phosphorylated 24p3 protein exists in mouse uterine tissue.

Abstract
Traditional gastrocnemius flap harvest requires a long skin incision, starting from the popliteal fossa to the mid leg. The authors designed three instruments to facilitate harvest of this flap through a small incision without the help of an endoscope in 10 patients. All 10 gastrocnemius muscle flaps survived with a 100% success rate.

Abstract
Scar endometriosis remains quite rare and there is only one case report in the literature of plastic surgery. We present a case of endometrioma appearing on the cesarean section scar. The classic symptom was a painful scar that became swollen and more tender during menstruation. The cause of surgical scar endometriosis is believed to be iatrogenic transplantation of endometrium to the surgical wound. Surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. This entity must be kept in mind by plastic surgeons evaluating patients who present with soft-tissue masses of the abdominal wall in the setting of previous combined hysterectomy and abdominoplasty.

Abstract
Congenital glomus tumor is a rare variant of glomus tumor, and glomangiomyoma is the least frequent histological type of glomus tumor. We present a case of congenital multiple plaque-like glomangiomyoma in an 11-year-old child with multiple diffuse plaques on his right lateral trunk. Histopathologic study showed a picture of typical glomus cell undergoing transition to smooth muscle cell. After literature review, this might be the first case report of congenital multiple plaque-like glomus tumor in trunk with histological appearance of a glomangiomyoma.

Abstract
Peripheral nerve entrapment syndromes in the foot include those symptom complexes that are primarily neurologic in origin and result from embarrassment to any of the peripheral nerve trunks or branches of the foot. Tarsal tunnel syndrome usually is precipitated by compression of the tibial nerve posterior and distal to the medial malleolus. A neurilemoma is relatively uncommon in the foot. It is usually a solitary tumor that is almost exclusively benign and can be removed without jeopardizing the integrity of the nerve. Diagnosis is based on a thorough history and clinical pictures. Certain diagnostic modalities, ultrasound and MRI, have been employed to aid in diagnosis. Surgical excision of the tumor remains the treatment of choice.

Abstract
Muscle hypertrophy is a rare finding in neurologic lesions. Infiltration, stretching, and exercise of the muscle are causative factors of enlargement and hypertrophy. We report a case of unilateral calf hypertrophy postpoliomyelitis. The resection of the total medial and partial lateral gastrocnemius muscle was performed to achieve left calf reduction and a symmetrical contour of both legs. The patient is satisfied with the results and has not complained of any instability in walking or running after 2 years of follow-up.

Abstract
Twenty-five cases of benign tumor of the forehead and brow were excised successfully with endoscope-assisted surgery. The access incision was selected strategically behind the front hairline. For tumors in the middle of the forehead, the tumor was approached by subgaleal dissection. For those in the brow or temporal area, the dissection plane was just superficial to the deep temporal fascia. Patient age ranged from 3 to 59 years. The mass varied in size from 1.0 x 0.5 to 2.0 x 2.0 cm. There were 18 lipomas, 6 dermoid cysts, and 1 pilomatricoma. There was no residual mass or recurrence 1 to 24 months postoperatively. There was no paresthesia or numbness in the scalp. Patients and their families were greatly satisfied with this operation and the absence of visible scarring.
