Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on people of all ages, especially children. This is a cross-sectional study in Thailand to explore the emotional and behavioral problems of school-aged children and associated factors during the lockdown. An online survey was conducted with 942 parents of school-age children. Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) scores showed that total difficulties and all subscale difficulties (hyperactivity, conduct problems, peer problems, and emotional problems) were increased, whereas prosocial behaviors were decreased in the pandemic period. The factors significantly associated with higher parental stress were higher emotional and peer problems after the COVID-19 outbreak, high family difficulty, and sleep problems. Sleep problems were associated with all children's difficulties, except prosocial behavior. High score in family difficulty subscale was associated with increased emotional problems, whereas poor family communication was associated with increased hyperactivity. Appetite change was negatively associated with parental stress and some children's difficulties. Higher household income, family time, physical activities, and recreational activities were associated with a decreased level of some difficulties and family functioning problems, but positively with an increase in the prosocial behavior of children. Additionally, higher screen time was associated with a higher level of hyperactivity, conduct problems, and poor family communication. This study demonstrated that Thai children were at high risk of developing mental health problems during the pandemic lockdown. We suggest that intervention to promote physical activities and reduce screen time is needed. Moreover, efficient monetary policy is urgently required. The limitations here include a recall bias with no baseline to compare and a potential selection bias due to parental selection and a webpage announcement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are strongly related to the development of various health problems. Several previous studies have revealed the link between ACEs, parental mental health, and child psychopathology. However, the direct association between ACEs and parenting behaviors is still understudied. OBJECTIVES To examine the relationship between parental ACEs and parenting, the effect of mental health which possibly mediated parenting behaviors, and the prevalence of ACEs. PARTICIPANTS AND SETTING Data was obtained from 403 parents of 6-18-year-old students in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from January to February 2023. METHODS Relationships among ACEs, depression, anxiety, stress, and parenting behaviors were examined using correlation analysis and path analysis. The direct and indirect effects of potential associated factors on parenting behaviors were also examined. RESULTS Overall, 62.5 % of parents reported at least one ACE. Path analysis revealed significant direct effects of ACEs on poorer mental health in all subscales: depression, anxiety, and stress (β = 0.19, 0.21, 0.18 respectively). ACEs were directly associated with the use of corporal punishment (β = 0.15). Stress also had a positive direct effect on inconsistent discipline (β = 0.18). CONCLUSION ACEs are common in parents and associated with mental health problems. ACEs also affect parenting behaviors via direct and indirect pathways. It is important to detect and provide interventions to parents having a history of ACEs and poor mental health to improve the quality of parenting practices.

Abstract
Impostor syndrome is a psychological condition that inhibits individuals' ability to recognize their achievements such that they fear being exposed as forgers. It is common in medical students, particularly in the early stages of clerkship training while transitioning from preclinical to clinical training. This cross-sectional study assessed the prevalence and associated factors of the imposter phenomenon among medical clinical students using the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS), focusing on sociodemographic characteristics, mental health status, and occurrence of the impostor phenomenon. Out of 228 undergraduate clinical-year medical students, 108 (47.4%) reported experiencing the impostor phenomenon. The results from the multivariable analysis showed that high levels of stress (adjusted odds ratio = 2.315; 95% confidence interval = 1.105-4.853), anxiety (6.462; 1.374-30.392), and depression (4.219; 1.448-12.290) were significantly associated with an increased risk of experiencing the impostor phenomenon. We found no difference between participants in the early or later years of clerkship training. The study highlights the prevalence of impostor syndrome among medical students and its link to mental health issues. Addressing this issue through education, mentorship, systemic problem solving, normalizing failure, and monitoring and treating mental health issues could help students reach and realize their full educational and professional potential.

Abstract
Purpose The objective of this study is to identify factors associated with depression and the quality of life of Thai transgender women (TGW) from Chiang Mai province, Thailand, who have experienced being bullied. Methods We conducted the study on TGW ≥18 years of age in Chiang Mai province, Thailand, from May to November 2020. Data were collected using self-reporting questionnaires at the MPlus Chiang Mai foundation. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to examine the association between potential factors associated with depression and quality of life. Results Of the 205 TGW individuals who participated in this study with a median age of 24 years, most were students (43.3%), and the most common type of bullying was verbal (30.9%). The prevalence of depression among the TGW participants was 30.1%, although most of the participants had a good overall quality of life (53.4%). The impacts of being physically bullied at primary or secondary school and experiencing cyberbullying at primary school were associated with a higher risk of depression. The impacts of being cyberbullied within the previous 6 months and physically bullied at primary or secondary school were associated with a fair quality of life. Conclusion Our results show that many TGW had experienced bullying in their childhood and within the previous 6 months. Screening for experiences of having been bullied and psychological problems might be advantageous for the wellbeing of TGW, while counseling programs or psychotherapy should be provided for those who have experienced bullying to mitigate depression and improve their quality of life.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the convergent validity of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) in Thai pregnant and postpartum women, using the 12-item WHO Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) as the reference standard. Participants completed the EPDS, PHQ-9, and WHODAS during the third trimester of pregnancy (over 28 weeks in gestational age) and six weeks postpartum. The sample included 186 and 136 participants for the antenatal and postpartum data analyses, respectively. The antenatal and postpartum data showed moderate correlations between both the EPDS and the PHQ-9 scores and the WHODAS scores (Spearman's correlation coefficients = 0.53-0.66, p < 0.001). The EPDS and PHQ-9 were moderately accurate in distinguishing disability (WHODAS score ≥ 10) from non-disability (WHODAS score < 10) in pregnant and postpartum participants, but the area under the curve of the PHQ-9 receiver operating characteristic curves in postpartum participants was significantly larger than that of the EPDS, with a difference (95% CI; p-value) of 0.08 (0.16, 0.01; p = 0.044). In conclusion, the EPDS and PHQ-9 are valid for assessing PND-related disability in pregnant and postpartum women. The PHQ-9 may perform better than the EPDS in distinguishing disability from non-disability in postpartum women.

Abstract
Although Thailand is overtly open to diversity and promotes equality, discrimination of minorities based on gender, ethnicity, and/or certain occupations is unfortunately still prevalent. Society either obstructs their inclusion or accepts them but only under certain conditions. The objective of this study is to examine the discrimination of TGWs with intersectional identities within Thai society. A total of 19 TGW participants were recruited and underwent in-depth thematic interviews about their experiences of discrimination. Rechecking of the extracted information from the interview transcripts and the subsequent encoding process were conducted using the NVivo program. The results show that the median age was 30 years old, and the majority of the individuals with intersectional identities were ethnic minority TGWs (47%). The in-depth interviews were divided into four main themes, including discrimination at an educational institution, discrimination in the workplace, discrimination in daily life, and discrimination at a healthcare facility. Our findings reflect problems associated with multiple sources of discrimination aimed at transgender women with an intersectional identity in Thailand in every aspect, including harsh speech or physical abuse; occupational, social, and legal inequality; and healthcare provision disparity. Raising awareness about gender diversity and intersectionality, as well as enforcing anti-bullying legislation and anti-discrimination laws, should be continually pursued in order to protect the rights and improve the quality of life of transgender individuals with an intersectional identity.

Abstract
Gender affirming surgery (GAS) helps individuals to achieve a physical presence consistent with their gender identity. In this study, we explored the decision, expectation, experience, satisfaction, and quality of life (QOL) of transgender women (TGWs) who have undergone GAS and compared their QOL with transfeminine individuals (TFs) who have not and are seeking to do so in Thailand. The median overall QOL score of the TGWs who have undergone GAS was slightly higher than that of the TFs who have not (95 (92-103) vs. 92 (86-98); p = 0.003), which was also reflected in the specific domains of psychological health, social relationships, and environmental health, the exception being physical health. Not being financially prepared was the most relevant reason for delaying undergoing GAS among the TFs who have not undergone it and want to do so. In addition, more than half of the TGWs who have undergone GAS regretted not being socially accepted after surgery. Although the difference between the QOLs of the two groups is statistically significant, the clinical significance should be further investigated to provide more insight. In addition, the higher QOL of TGWs might not solely be due to having undergone GAS.

Abstract
Background The Nine-Questions Depression-Rating Scale (9Q) has been developed as an alternative assessment tool for assessing the severity of depressive symptoms in Thai adults. The traditional unweighted sum scoring approach does not account for differences in the loadings of the items on the actual severity. Therefore, we developed an Item Response Theory (IRT)-based weighted sum scoring approach to provide a scoring method that is more precise than the unweighted sum score. Methods Secondary data from a study on the criterion-related validity of the 9Q in the northern Thai dialect was used in this study. All participants were interviewed to obtain demographic data and screened/evaluated for major depressive disorder and the severity of the associated depressive symptoms, followed by diagnosis by a psychiatrist for major depressive disorder. IRT models were used to estimate the discrimination and threshold parameters. Differential item functioning (DIF) of responses to each item between males and females was compared using likelihood-ratio tests. The IRT-based weighed sum scores of the individual items are defined as the linear combination of individual response weighted with the discrimination and threshold parameters divided by the plausible maximum score based on the graded-response model (GRM) for the 9Q score (9Q-GRM) or the nominal-response model (NRM) for categorical combinations of the intensity and frequency of symptoms from the 9Q responses (9QSF-NRM). The performances of the two scoring procedures were compared using relative precision. Results Of the 1,355 participants, 1,000 and 355 participants were randomly selected for the developmental and validation group for the IRT-based weighted scoring, respectively. the gender-related DIF were presented for items 2 and 5 for the 9Q-GRM, while most items (except for items 3 and 6) for the 9QSF-NRM, which could be used to separately estimate the parameters between genders. The 9Q-GRM model accounting for DIF had a higher precision (16.7%) than the unweighted sum-score approach. Discussion Our findings suggest that weighted sum scoring with the IRT parameters can improve the scoring when using 9Q to measure the severity of the depressive symptoms in Thai adults. Accounting for DIF between the genders resulted in higher precision for IRT-based weighted scoring. Abstract
BACKGROUND Although a previous review illustrated the efficacy of melatonin receptor agonists (MRAs) in preventing delirium, some recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) did not confirm these effects. OBJECTIVES This study systematically reviewed the efficacy, acceptability, and tolerability of MRAs for delirium prevention. MATERIALS AND METHODS We searched electronic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL, and Controlled Trials Register, from their inception to February 20, 2022. The primary efficacy outcome was delirium incidence rate after MRA administration; relative risks (RRs), overall discontinuation, and discontinuation due to adverse events are also presented. RESULTS The overall pooled incidence rates of delirium in MRA-treated and placebo-treated groups were significantly different with RR (95% CI)=0.66(0.52, 0.84, ), I2=59%. Similarly, the incidence rate was significantly lower in the melatonin-treated group than in the placebo-treated group [RR (95% CI) =0.65 (0.49, 0.88), I2=65%]. Unfortunately, incidence rates were not significantly different between ramelteon-treated and placebo-treated groups [RR (95% CI) =0.67 (0.42, 1.08), I2=50%]. The pooled incidence rate of delirium in either melatonin or ramelteon-treated groups was not significantly different from the placebo-treated group in elderly patients. The pooled incidence rate of delirium was significantly lower in the melatonin-treated group than in the benzodiazepinetreated group. CONCLUSION Based on this review, melatonin could prevent delirium with a small effect size. However, ramelteon did not show efficacy in preventing delirium. Additionally, neither melatonin nor ramelteon individually showed effectiveness in preventing delirium in elderly patients. Therefore, using MRAs to prevent delirium in clinical practice should be cautious. However, future welldefined and large sample size studies could verify these findings.

Abstract
Numerous factors are proposed to affect high school students’ academic achievement; however, these factors may not reveal all possible causal relationships. This study conducted path analysis to examine the direct and indirect effects of interpersonal relationships, life satisfaction, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression on the academic achievement of senior high school students. Two hundred and eighty-five students from five schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand, aged 14–19 years, were included for data analysis. The fit indices of all models were in agreement with the empirical data. Anxiety levels had a significantly positive direct effect on achievement, whereas depression had a negative direct effect on achievement. Additionally, self-esteem, life satisfaction, and interpersonal relationships had negative indirect effects on depression and anxiety. A program that stimulates the optimal and appropriate level of anxiety may be useful. An appropriate level of anxiety appeared positively related to academic achievement, but a high level of anxiety relatively influenced the incidence of depression. Thus, encouraging self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and life satisfaction can promote academic ability and decrease the risk of depression. Further well-designed and large sample-size studies should be conducted to confirm these findings. The interplay of all studied factors may account for the variation in academic achievement, depression, and anxiety of 11.60%, 42.80%, and 17.60%, respectively.

Abstract
The modern online society requires everyone, especially children and young people, to learn how to use the Internet. Cyberbullying is one misuse that can be detrimental to the cyberbullied individuals’ mental health and lifestyle, and it often ends up with the victim becoming depressed, fearful of society, and in the worst cases, suicidal ideation. The aim of this study is to investigate the awareness, perception, and perpetration of cyberbullying by high school students and undergraduates to find ways to prevent cyberbullying in the future. For this cross-sectional study, data were collected in 2020 from 14 schools throughout Thailand and 4 universities in Chiang Mai, Thailand, using two-stage sampling. Chi-squared tests were used to compare differences between the groups. Of the 2,683 high school students, girls perceived cyberbullying more than boys (81.6% vs. 75.4%; p <0.001), with those from the later academic years being more aware of cyberbullying (p = 0.033) and more likely to conduct cyberbullying behavior (p = 0.027). Of the 721 undergraduates, women were more aware of cyberbullying than men (92.1% vs. 82.7%; p <0.001). The most common cause of cyberbullying was aiming to tease the target (67.6% of high school students vs. 82.5% of undergraduates). The most commonly cyberbullying victimization was sending mocking or rebuking messages (29.6% of high school students and 39.6% of undergraduates). The most popular solutions for cyberbullying were to avoid leaving a trace on social media and be with friends who accept who you are. Our findings show that most of the cyberbullying perpetrators did not consider that their actions would have serious consequences and only carried out cyberbullying because of wanting to tease their victims. This is useful information for the cyberbullying solution center, teachers, and parents to recognize how to make the students realize the effects of cyberbullying on the victims.

Abstract
The Thai Diagnostic Autism Scale (TDAS) was developed for use as a diagnostic tool for the early diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Thai children aged 12–48 months old. TDAS consists of 23 items (13 and 17 items in the observational and interview sections, respectively) classified into seven domains (A1–A3 and B1–B4) according to the criteria in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, fifth edition (DSM‐5). Children with a single score in the A1–A3 domains and at least two of the B1–B4 domains were classified with ASD. The item‐objective congruence (IOC) index, confirmatory factor analysis, and Kappa coefficient were used to evaluate the content, constructs, and inter‐rater validity levels between the evaluators and concurrent validity between TDAS and physicians' diagnoses, respectively. TDAS showed good overall content validity (IOC range 0.71–1.00), suitable construct validity (root‐mean‐squared errors of approximation of 0.076 and 0.067, comparative fit indexes of 0.902 and 0.858, and Tucker‐Lewis indexes of 0.882 and 0.837 for the observation and interview sections, respectively), and excellent diagnostic agreement between TDAS and the evaluators (Kappa = 1.000) as well as between TDAS and the physicians' diagnoses (Kappa = 0.871). The sensitivity and specificity of TDAS were 100% and 82.4%, respectively. In conclusion, TDAS yielded a high level of content validity, concurrent validity, and inter‐rater reliability for the early diagnosis of ASD in Thai children. A large‐scale study using TDAS is needed to determine an appropriate cut‐off point as well as its efficacy. The Thai Diagnostic Autism Scale was developed for use as a diagnostic tool for the early diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among Thai children. It contains 23 items in seven domains for the screening via observations and interviews. The psychometric properties of this diagnostic tool provide its reliability and suitability for the early diagnosis of ASD. A large‐scale study using it is needed to determine an appropriate cut‐off point as well as its efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies found several factors associated with suicide in schizophrenic patients, such as age, sex, education level, history of suicide attempts, psychotic symptoms, social factors, and substance abuse. However, there might be some additional factors that were not considered in previous studies but may be correlated with a greater likelihood of suicide attempts, such as medication and treatment.
AIM To investigate the prevalence of suicide attempts and identify the risk of suicidality in hospitalized schizophrenia patients.
METHODS This is a cross-sectional study of schizophrenic patients admitted to a psychiatric hospital who were 18 years of age or more. The outcomes and possible suicide risk factors in these patients were collated. The current suicide risk was evaluated using the mini-international neuropsychiatric interview module for suicidality and categorized as none (0 points), mild (1-8 points), moderate (9-16 points), or severe (17 or more points). This study used ordinal logistic regression to assess the association of potential risk factors with the current suicide risk in schizophrenic patients.
RESULTS Of 228 hospitalized schizophrenia patients, 214 (93.9%) were included in this study. The majority (79.0%) of patients were males. Females appeared to have a slightly higher suicidality risk than males, with borderline significance. With regard to the current suicide risk assessed with the mini-international neuropsychiatric interview, 172 (80.4%) schizophrenic patients scored zero, 20 (9.4%) had a mild risk, 8 (3.7%) had a moderate risk, and 14 (6.5%) had a severe risk. The total prevalence of current suicide risk in these schizophrenic patients was 19.6%. Based on multivariable ordinal logistic regression analysis with backward elimination, it was found that younger age, a current major depressive episode, receiving fluoxetine or lithium carbonate in the previous month, or a relatively higher Charlson comorbidity index score were all significantly and independently associated with a higher level of suicide risk.
CONCLUSION The prevalence rate of suicide attempts in schizophrenia is high. Considering risk factors in routine clinical assessments, environmental manipulations and adequate treatment might prevent or decrease suicide in these patients.

Abstract
Introduction The success of antiretroviral treatment (ART) programs can be compromised by high rates of patient loss to follow-up (LTFU). We assessed the incidence and risk factors of LTFU in a large cohort of HIV-infected children receiving ART in Thailand. Methods All children participating in a multicenter cohort (NCT00433030) between 1999 and 2014 were included. The date of LTFU was 9 months after the last contact date. ART interruption was defined as ART discontinuation for more than 7 days followed by resumption of treatment. Baseline and time-dependent risk factors associated with LTFU were identified using Fine and Gray competing risk regression models with death or referral to another hospital as competing events. Results Of 873 children who were followed during a median of 8.6 years (interquartile range 4.5–10.6), 196 were LTFU, 73 died, and 195 referred. The cumulative incidence of LTFU was 2.9% at 1 year, 7.3% at 5 years and 22.2% at 10 years. Children aged 13 years and more had a 3-fold higher risk (95% confidence interval 2.06–4.78) of LTFU than those younger. Children who had interrupted ART within the previous year had a 2.5-fold higher risk (1.12–5.91) than those who had not. The risk of LTFU was lower in children stunted (height-for-age Z-scores <-2 SD) (0.42–0.96) or underweight (weight-for-age Z-scores <-2 SD) (0.24–0.97). Conclusion Adolescence, ART interruption and absence of growth deficit were associated with LTFU. These may be warnings that should draw clinicians’ attention and possibly trigger specific interventions. Children with no significant growth retardation may also be at risk of LTFU.
