Abstract
Carbonaceous materials are promising candidates as anode materials for non-lithium-ion batteries (NLIBs) due to their appealing properties such as good electrical conductivity, low cost, and high safety. However, graphene, a classic two-dimensional (2D) carbon material, is chemically inert to most metal atoms, hindering its application as an electrode material for metal-ion batteries. Inspired by the unique geometry of a four-penta unit, we explore a metallic 2D carbon allotrope C5-10-16 composed of 5-10-16 carbon rings. The C5-10-16 monolayer is free from any imaginary frequencies in the whole Brillouin zone. Due to the introduction of a non-sp2 hybridization state into C5-10-16, the extended conjugation of π-electrons is disrupted, leading to the enhanced surface activity toward metal ions. We investigate the performance of C5-10-16 as the anode for sodium/potassium-ion batteries by using first-principles calculations. The C5-10-16 sheet has high theoretical specific capacities of Na (850.84 mA h g-1) and K (743.87 mA h g-1). Besides, C5-10-16 exhibits a moderate migration barrier of 0.63 (0.32) eV for Na (K), ensuring rapid charging/discharging processes. The average open-circuit voltages of Na and K are 0.33 and 0.62 V, respectively, which are within the voltage acceptance range of anode materials. The fully sodiated (potassiated) C5-10-16 shows tiny lattice expansions of 1.4% (1.3%), suggesting the good reversibility. Moreover, bilayer C5-10-16 significantly affects both the adsorption strength and the mobility of Na or K. All these results show that C5-10-16 could be used as a promising anode material for NLIBs.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the distribution characteristics of peripheral retinal defocus in children and adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 500 individuals aged 3 to 18 years, who visited the People's Hospital of Lincang, the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University and Dali Ophthalmology Hospital between January and December 2021. Data of the right eye of each participant was analyzed. There were 226 males (45.20%) and 274 females (54.80%), with an average age of (10.79±3.79) years. All participants underwent post-cycloplegic refraction, optical biometry, and intraocular pressure measurement to obtain spherical equivalent, average corneal curvature, axial length, and intraocular pressure. Multispectral refraction topography was performed to obtain topographic maps and values at various field angles and orientations of peripheral retinal defocus. Based on multispectral refraction topography, peripheral retinal defocus values were categorized as crater type, hemilateral upturn type, saddle type, and relatively flat type. The distribution of different refractive states was analyzed. Results: The spherical equivalent of the 500 participants was(-1.51±2.61) D, axial length was (24.10±1.28) mm, and average corneal curvature was (43.20±1.22) D. Among the 500 eyes, 382 exhibited hyperopic peripheral retinal defocus values, with 316 eyes (82.72%) being myopic. Myopic peripheral retinal defocus values were observed in 118 eyes, with 15 eyes (12.72%) being myopic. Among different types of peripheral retinal defocus values, 112 eyes (22.4%) exhibited a crater type, 153 eyes (30.6%) exhibited a hemilateral upturn type, 107 eyes (21.4%) exhibited a saddle type, and 128 eyes (25.6%) exhibited a flat type. The proportion of myopia was 82.14% (92 eyes), 69.28% (106 eyes), 60.75% (65 eyes), and 3.90% (5 eyes), respectively. The peripheral retinal defocus values at 15°, 30°, and 45° were (0.01±0.08) D, (0.06±0.21) D, and (0.20±0.37) D, respectively. The peripheral retinal defocus values at temporal, inferior, nasal, and superior locations were (0.58±0.69) D, (0.52±0.63) D, (0.21±0.64) D, and (-0.26±0.67) D, respectively. Notably, the superior primarily manifested as myopic, while the others were predominantly hyperopic. Conclusions: Approximately three-fourths of children and adolescents exhibit hyperopic peripheral retinal defocus values, with a higher prevalence of myopia in this subgroup. The hyperopia peripheral retinal defocus value increases with the distance from the retina to the macula. The peripheral retinal defocus values between superior and inferior, nasal and temporal locations are asymmetrical, with the temporal hyperopic peripheral retinal defocus value being most prominent and the superior myopic peripheral retinal defocus value being most evident.

Abstract
We propose a two-dimensional carbon allotrope (named KT-graphene) by incorporating kagome and tetragonal lattices consisting of trigonal, quadrilateral, octagonal, and dodecagonal rings. The introduction of non-hexagonal rings can give rise to the localized electronic states that improve the chemical reactivity toward potassium, making KT-graphene a high-performance anode material for potassium-ion batteries. It shows a high theoretical capacity (892 mAh g-1), a low diffusion barrier (0.33 eV), and a low average open-circuit voltage (0.51 V). The presence of electrolyte solvents is propitious to boost the K-ion adsorption and diffusion capabilities. Moreover, one-dimensional nanotubes (KT-CNTs), rolled up by the KT-graphene sheet, are metallic regardless of the tube diameter. As the curvature increases, KT-CNTs exhibit significantly increased surface activity, which can promote the electron-donating ability of K. Furthermore, the curvature effect greatly enhances the efficiency of K diffusion on the inner surface compared to that on the outer surface.

Abstract
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the sole causes of death in lung cancer patients. This study combined with single-cell RNA-seq analysis to identify tumor stem-related prognostic models to predict the prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma, chemotherapy agents, and immunotherapy efficacy. mRNA expression-based stemness index (mRNAsi) was determined by One Class Linear Regression (OCLR). Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected by limma package. Single-cell RNA-seq analysis in GSE123902 dataset was performed using Seurat package. Weighted Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) was built by rms package. Cell differentiation ability was determined by CytoTRACE. Cell communication analysis was performed by CellCall and CellChat package. Prognosis model was constructed by 10 machine learning and 101 combinations. Drug predictive analysis was conducted by pRRophetic package. Immune microenvironment landscape was determined by ESTIMATE, MCP-Counter, ssGSEA analysis. Tumor samples have higher mRNAsi, and the high mRNAsi group presents a worse prognosis. Turquoise module was highly correlated with mRNAsi in TCGA-LUAD dataset. scRNA analysis showed that 22 epithelial cell clusters were obtained, and higher CSCs malignant epithelial cells have more complex cellular communication with other cells and presented dedifferentiation phenomenon. Cellular senescence and Hippo signaling pathway are the major difference pathways between high- and low CSCs malignant epithelial cells. The pseudo-temporal analysis shows that cluster1, 2, high CSC epithelial cells, are concentrated at the end of the differentiation trajectory. Finally, 13 genes were obtained by intersecting genes in turquoise module, Top200 genes in hdWGCNA, DEGs in high- and low- mRNAsi group as well as DEGs in tumor samples vs. normal group. Among 101 prognostic models, average c-index (0.71) was highest in CoxBoost + RSF model. The high-risk group samples had immunosuppressive status, higher tumor malignancy and low benefit from immunotherapy. This work found that malignant tumors and malignant epithelial cells have high CSC characteristics, and identified a model that could predict the prognosis, immune microenvironment, and immunotherapy of LUAD, based on CSC-related genes. These results provided reference value for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of LUAD.

Abstract
With the increasing global prevalence of tree pollen allergies, there has been a significant impact on the quality of life for populations. In North and Central China, birch pollen, cypress pollen, and plane tree pollen are the most common allergens for springtime pollen allergy sufferers. The distribution of plants and patterns of pollen transmission in different geographical areas result in varying pollen exposure outcomes, further complicating the challenges in diagnosis and individualized treatment. This article delves into the research progress and clinical application of tree pollen allergies based on the "Molecular Allergology User's Guide 2.0 (MAUG 2.0) " published by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). It discusses major allergen families and component proteins of tree pollen such as PR-10 proteins, profilins, polcalcins, as well as cross-reactive components that may cause pollen-food allergy syndrome. Allergen component diagnostics can distinguish true allergy sufferers from those with multiple allergen reactions, enabling more targeted selection of allergens for specific immunotherapy, thus enhancing treatment effectiveness. Bet v 1 and Cup a 1, for instance, are specific indicators for immunotherapy in birch and cypress allergy patients. Overall, this article provides cutting-edge information for professionals in the field of tree pollen allergies, offering in-depth exploration of tree pollen allergen component proteins, clinical manifestations, and treatment-related research, aiding in better understanding and addressing the challenges of tree pollen allergies.

Abstract
Multivalent-ion batteries have garnered significant attention due to their high energy density, low cost, and superior safety. Calcium-ion batteries (CIBs) are regarded as the next-generation energy storage systems for their abundant natural resources and bivalent characteristics. However, the absence of high-performance anode materials poses a significant obstacle to the progress of battery technology. Two-dimensional (2D) Dirac materials have excellent conductivity and abundant active sites, rendering them promising candidates as anode materials. A novel 2D Dirac material known as "graphene+" has been theoretically reported, exhibiting prominent properties including good stability, exceptional ductility, and remarkable electronic conductivity. By using first-principles calculations, we systematically investigate the performance of graphene+ as an anode material for CIBs. Graphene+ exhibits an ultra-high theoretical capacity (1487.7 mA h g-1), a small diffusion barrier (0.21 eV), and a low average open-circuit voltage (0.51 V). Furthermore, we investigate the impact of the electrolyte solvation on the performance of Ca-ion adsorption and migration. Upon contact with electrolyte solvents, graphene+ exhibits strong adsorption strength and rapid migration of Ca-ions on its surface. These results demonstrate the promising potential of graphene+ as a high-performance anode material for CIBs.

Abstract
Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have attracted much attention due to their abundant earth-reserves and low cost. Two-dimensional (2D) Dirac materials show great application prospects as anodes for SIBs because of their excellent electronic conductivity. We explore the performances of AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayers and bilayers as anodes for SIBs by using first-principles calculations. The AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer exhibits a high theoretical storage capacity of 954.15 (709.17) mA h g-1 and a low diffusion barrier of 0.36 (0.03) eV. The calculated average open-circuit voltage (0.68/0.18 V) falls within the acceptance range of 0.1-1.0 V for anode materials. The fully sodiated AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer shows a tiny lattice expansion of 0.9% (2.4%), suggesting good reversibility. Furthermore, in comparison with the AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer, the AlB4 (Al2B2) bilayer can provide stronger binding with Na on the outside surface. These results contribute to a better understanding of the AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayers and bilayers as potential high-performance anode materials for SIBs.

Abstract
The Monkhorst-Pack scheme is a method to save time in the days of slow computers. It excludes umklapp phonons with significant consequences. Its widespread application to evaluate superconductivity arises from the desire to reduce phonon contributions to solve a historical difficulty of the BCS theory. An alternative method turns out to be more accurate in Pb and Pd.

Abstract
Na-ion batteries (NIBs) have attracted a great deal of attention for large-scale electric energy storage due to their inherent safety, natural abundant resources, and low cost. The exploration of suitable anode materials is the major challenge in advancing NIB technology. On the basis of first-principles calculations, we systematically explore the potential performance of two-dimensional (2D) TiCl2 as an electrode material for NIBs. Monolayer TiCl2 can be easily exfoliated from the bulk structure with a small exfoliation energy of 0.64 J m-2. It shows good stability, as demonstrated by its high cohesive energy, positive phonon modes, and high thermal stability. Monolayer TiCl2 has high storage capacity (451.3 mA h g-1), low diffusion energy barrier (0.02-0.14 eV), moderate average open-circuit voltage (0.81 V), and small lattice change (2.37%). Moreover, bilayer TiCl2 can significantly enhance the Na adsorption strength but reduce the Na-ion diffusion ability. These results suggest that TiCl2 is a promising anode candidate for NIBs.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the prevalence and associated factors of hyperkalemia in dialysis patients. Methods: Patients underwent hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) from multi-center databases were recruited from January 2017 to December 2019, and those aged ≥18 years and with dialysis duration ≥3 months were included to analyze the prevalence and related factors of hyperkalemia. Results: A total of 12 364 patients were enrolled in the study, and 6 836 cases were men. The average age of the patients was (51±15) years. Among these patients, 4 230 cases underwent HD while 8 134 received PD. Hyperkalemia was detected in 20.7% (2 554/12 364) of the patients while hypokalemia was found in 17.0%(2 102/12 364) of the patients. Multivariate logistic regression showed that HD (OR=2.25, 95%CI: 1.54-3.30), diabetes mellitus (DM) (OR=1.65, 95%CI: 1.17-2.32), high body mass index (BMI) (OR=1.06, 95%CI: 1.03-1.09), high levels of serum albumin (OR=1.04, 95%CI: 1.01-1.07) and phosphorus (OR=3.12, 95%CI: 2.44-4.00), low levels of serum bicarbonate (OR=0.89, 95%CI: 0.87-0.92), triglycerides (OR=0.76, 95%CI: 0.68-0.85) and creatinine (OR=0.95, 95%CI: 0.90-0.99), usage of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor/Angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonist (ACEI/ARB, OR=1.38, 95%CI: 1.11-1.72) and beta-blocker (OR=1.32, 95%CI: 1.07-1.64) were associated with hyperkalemia. Conclusions: Hyperkalemia occurred in 20.7% of the dialysis patients. HD, DM, high BMI, high levels of serum albumin and phosphorus, low levels of serum bicarbonate, triglycerides and creatinine, use of ACEI/ARB were associated with hyperkalemia.

Abstract
Chemokine CXC ligand 12 (CXCL12)-chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) signal axis is involved in the regulation of liver injury repair and the occurrence and development of liver fibrosis. In case of acute and chronic liver injury, the expression of CXCL12 is up-regulated to collect CXCR4-positive immune cells to migrate to the liver. The CXCL12-CXCR4 pathway participates in the occurrence of liver fibrosis by promoting the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells. The emergence of small molecule inhibitors of CXCR4 makes this receptor an attractive target for anti-fibrosis therapy. At present, CXCR4 has been tried as an anti-fibrosis treatment targets for fibrosis of various organs, including pulmonary fibrosis and chronic pancreatitis. However, some studies have shown that simply blocking the CXCL12/CXCR4 axis cannot improve liver fibrosis and even aggravate liver injury. In recent years, with the discovery and understanding of CXCR7, another receptor of CXCR12, the counteracting role of CXCR4-promoting fibrosis pathway and CXCR7-promoting regeneration pathway in liver regeneration and liver fibrosis has been interpreted. Therefore, a full understanding of the regulatory mechanism of CXCL12-CXCR4/CXCR7 pathway, the development of corresponding targeted therapy research for liver disease, and the rebalancing of CXCR4 and CXCR7 are expected to become a new strategy for the liver fibrosis therapy.

Abstract
目的 评价人组织相容性抗原(HLA)匹配同胞供者外周血干细胞移植(MSD-PBSCT)治疗骨髓增生异常综合征(MDS)的疗效。 方法 回顾性总结2005年9月至2017年12月接受MSD-PBSCT治疗的138例MDS患者临床资料,观察患者总生存(OS)率、无病生存(DFS)率、复发(RR)率及非复发死亡率(NRM),分析影响移植预后的危险因素。 结果 ①中位随访1 050(4~4 988)d,3年OS率、DFS率分别为(66.6±4.1)%、(63.3±4.1)%,3年累积RR率、NRM分别为(13.9±0.1)%、(22.2±0.1)%。②单因素分析显示,发生Ⅲ~Ⅳ度急性移植物抗宿主病(aGVHD)、造血干细胞移植合并症指数(HCT-CI)≥2分组和修订的国际预后积分系统(IPSS-R)极高危组的OS率均显著降低[(42.9±13.2)%对(72.9±4.2)%,χ2=8.620,P=0.003;(53.3±7.6)%对(72.6±4.7)%,χ2=6.681,P=0.010;(53.8±6.8)%对(76.6±6.2)%、(73.3±7.7)%,χ2=6.337,P=0.042]。MDS伴有原始细胞过多-2(MDS-EB2)和MDS转化急性髓系白血病(MDS-AML)患者,移植前接收化疗或去甲基化治疗不改善OS[(60.4±7.8)%对(59.2±9.6)%,χ2=0.042,P=0.838]。③多因素分析显示,HCT-CI是影响移植后OS和DFS的独立危险因素(P=0.012,HR=2.108,95%CI 1.174~3.785;P=0.008,HR=2.128,95%CI 1.219~3.712)。 结论 HCT-CI评价MDS患者移植后预后优于IPSS-R预后分组;发生Ⅲ~Ⅳ度aGVHD是影响移植后OS的不良预后因素;MDS-EB2和MDS-AML患者可以不化疗直接行MSD-PBSCT。

Abstract
BACKGROUND Conventional treatment has limited efficacy in relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphoma. Since chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) technology has shown high safety and results in high remission rates, we investigated its efficacy and safety in B-cell lymphoma treatment and analyzed potential affecting factors to provide evidence for therapeutic strategies and applications. METHODS We searched databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane up to July 2019. Meta-analysis 1 was conducted to study the efficacy of CAR-T cell for treating B-cell lymphoma, measuring the response rate and complete remission rate as outcomes. Sub-group analysis was performed for age, pathological type, target antigen, co-stimulatory molecule, and conditioning chemotherapy. Meta-analysis 2 was undertaken on the safety of the treatment with the incidence rate of toxicity (cytokine-releasing syndrome [CRS], neurotoxicity) as an outcome. RESULTS Seventeen studies were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. It was found that CAR-T cells had good therapeutic effects in the following cases: B-cell lymphoma (patients ≥65 years old); diffuse large B-cell lymphoma pathological type; patients with treatment target antigen other than CD19; patients treated with co-stimulatory molecules other than CD28, including 4-1BB+CD28 or 4-1BB; and patients treated with cyclophosphamide/fludarabine pre-treatment protocol conditioning chemotherapy. Although the CRS and neurotoxicity incidences were high, most were reversible with minimal risk of death. CONCLUSION CAR-T cell treatment is safe for clinical application; however, toxicity effects should be monitored.

Abstract
Abnormal liver function in pregnancy is a common clinical problem in the department of obstetrics and liver disease, but its severity can cause danger to the life of the mother and fetus. Therefore, the different cause of abnormal liver function in pregnancy should be assessed accurately in order to take early intervention measures. Moreover, it is necessary to comprehensively evaluate the situation of both mother and fetus to obtain the optimal treatment effect for abnormal liver function caused by different types of pregnancy-related liver diseases.

Abstract
Objective: To assess the effects of different nutritional support methods on postoperative recovery in patients with gastric cancer. Methods: 98 patients who received radical gastrectomy were divided into three groups: parenteral nutrition group (PN group) (n=36), early enteral nutrition group (EEN group) (n=33) and early oral feeding group (EON group) (n=29). Tolerance of enteral nutrition, postoperative recovery and economic indicators were compared. Results: The number of laparoscopic-assisted surgeries was 18, 17 and 25 in PN group, EEN group and EON group, respectively. There was no significant difference in sex, age and body mass index(BMI) among the three groups. Gastrointestinal function recovered slowly in 3 cases, including 2 cases in EEN group and 1 case in EON group. 1 case in EON group had abdominal hemorrhage. Median postoperative hospital stay in PN, EEN and EON group was 11.0, 11.0 and 8.0 days respectively, and significant reduction can be found in EON group(P<0.001). The complication rates were 30.5% (11 cases), 12.1% (4 cases), and 13.8% (4 cases), respectively, with no statistically significant difference(P=0.102). The median nutritional support costs for PN group, EEN group, and EON group were 4 543.3, 974.2, and 265.0 yuan, respectively. The median albumin consumption was 90.0, 40.0, and 0 g, respectively. The EON groups were significantly lower (P<0.001). The results of the laparoscopic assisted subgroup and the ones of whole group were consistent. Conclusion: Compared with parenteral nutrition and early enteral nutrition, early oral feeding can reduce the amount of albumin consumption, decrease the cost of nutrition support and shorten the average hospital stay after surgey without increasing the incidence of complications.

Abstract
目的 探讨单倍体相合造血干细胞移植中HLA供者特异性抗体(DSA)对干细胞植入的影响以及处理方法。 方法 采用免疫磁珠液相芯片技术,对2016年6月至2017年5月拟行单倍体相合造血干细胞移植患者进行HLA抗体及DSA的检测,对已完成移植患者进行DSA与植入失败相关性分析,检测移植前后DSA水平,探索针对DSA的处理方法。 结果 共检测了92例拟行单倍体相合造血干细胞移植患者的HLA抗体,其中16例(17.4%)存在HLA抗体,6例(6.5%)DSA阳性。在常规清髓性预处理单倍体相合移植中,26例DSA阴性患者中有24例成功植入,仅有2例发生植入失败,而采用常规预处理的4例DSA阳性患者中仅有1例成功植入,其余3例发生植入失败,二组患者植入率差异有统计学意义[92.3%(24/26)对25.0%(1/4),χ2=8.433,P=0.004]。多因素分析显示,DSA是影响供者干细胞植入的唯一因素[OR=12.0(95% CI 1.39~103.5),P=0.024]。6例DSA阳性的患者中,4例次在移植时采取了针对DSA的措施,均获得供者干细胞顺利植入,其中3例HLA-Ⅰ类DSA阳性患者(首次移植2例、二次移植1例)在输入供者干细胞之前输入供者血小板,另1例HLA-Ⅰ、HLA-Ⅱ类DSA并存患者在二次移植时更换供者并给予全身放疗、利妥昔单抗及供者血小板输注。 结论 DSA是导致单倍体相合造血干细胞植入失败的关键因素,移植前应进行常规检查,DSA阳性患者应选用DSA阴性供者;无合适供者时,应采取适当措施降低DSA水平以促进干细胞植入。

Abstract
Vehicle overload is detrimental to bridges and traffic safety. This paper presents a study on the fatigue performance of typical reinforced concrete (RC) beams of highway bridges under vehicle overload. A definition method of vehicle overload and a construction method of overload ladder spectrum were first proposed based on traffic data acquisition, statistical analysis and structural calculation of the highway bridges in Guangzhou. A fatigue experimental method was also proposed with the three-ladder vehicle overload spectrum, and the fatigue tests of 15 RC beams strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) under three loading levels were then carried out. The fatigue performance and the failure mechanism of the strengthened beams were presented and discussed, and two fatigue life prediction methods were proposed with the established modified Palmgren-Miner rule and the loading level equivalent method respectively. The results showed that the fatigue performance of the strengthened RC beams was severely degraded under overload ladder spectrum compared with that under constant amplitude cyclic load, and the life prediction methods were proved effective.

Abstract
AIMS The purpose of this work was to find an efficient enzyme to synthesize d-3,4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid (d-DSS). METHODS AND RESULTS Nineteen lactic acid bacteria strains were screened for production of d-DSS using 3,4-dihydroxyphenylpyruvic acid (DPA) as a substrate. Lactobacillus reuteri JN516 exhibited the highest d-DSS yield. A nonspecific coenzyme, d-lactate dehydrogenase (d-LDH82319), from L. reuteri JN516 with high DPA reducing activity was identified. This enzyme reduced DPA to form d-DSS with excellent optical purity (enantioselectivity >99%). Its molecular weight was 35 kDa based on SDS-PAGE migration. The Michaelis-Menten constant (Km ), turnover number (kcat ), and catalytic efficiency (kcat /Km ) of d-LDH82319 for DPA were 0·09 mmol l-1 , 2·17 s-1 and 24·07 (mmol l-1 )-1 s-1 , respectively, with NADH as the coenzyme. The (Km ), (kcat ) and (kcat /Km ) of d-LDH82319 for DPA were 0·10 mmol l-1 , 0·13 s-1 and 1·30 (mmol l-1 )-1 s-1 , respectively, with NADPH as the coenzyme. The optimum temperature and pH of d-LDH82319 were 25°C and pH 8 respectively. Additionally, d-LDH82319 had a broad substrate range for alpha-keto acids, among which the activity of reducing pyruvate was the strongest; therefore, it belongs to the group of d-lactate dehydrogenases. d-LDH82319 and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) were coexpressed to produce d-DSS from DPA. CONCLUSIONS d-LDH82319 from L. reuteri JN516 with high DPA reducing activity has the characteristics of a nonspecific coenzyme. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY d-LDH82319 is the first reported coenzyme nonspecific d-lactate dehydrogenase with DPA-reducing activity. The coexpression system provided an effective method to produce d-DSS.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the usefulness and effectiveness of multi-slice spiral computerized tomographic fistulography (MSCTF) in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital fistula of neck. Methods: Thirty-four patients with thyroglossal fistulasor branchial cleft fistulas who were initial treated from July 2008 to August 2015 in Fujian Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyses. Thirteen males and 21 females patients aging from 3 to 46 years old with a median age of 37 were included. There were thyroglossal fistula in 6 cases, the first branchialcleft fistula in 9 cases, the second branchialcleft fistula in 3 cases, the third branchialcleft fistula in 9 cases, and the fourth branchialcleft fistula in 7 cases. All the patients underwent preopeative MSCTF and the diagnoses were finally confirmed with surgery and histopathology. Multiplanar reconstruction(MPR), maximumintensity projection(MIP)and volume rendering(VR) were completed with AW Volume Share 4.2 image processing software after initial CT scanning.The internal openings, distribution, and neighboring relationship of the fistulas showed by MSCTF were analyzed and the surgical strategies were subsequently made. Results: Except 2 cases, 32 patients had obtained successfully MSCTF image. The presence and location of the fistulas could be showed clearly on MSCTF. Based on the results of MSCTF examination, the surgical planes to treat the fistulas were made. The fistulas in all cases were successfully found and excised. Three cases underwent selective neck dissection. Postoperative infection occurred in 1 case. Unilateral vocal fold paralysis due to surgery recovered 3 months after surgery with follow-up. One case lost follow-up, the remaining 33 cases were followed up for 13-97 months with no the fistula recurrence. Conclusions: MSCTF could provide valuable information and benefit surgical planning by demonstrating the coursesof congenital fistulas of neck in detail.

Abstract
Hip fracture is a kind of osteoporotic fractures in elderly patients. Its important monitoring indicator is to measure bone mineral density (BMD) using DXA. The stress characteristics and material distribution in different parts of the bones can be well simulated by three-dimensional finite element analysis. Our previous studies have demonstrated a linear positive correlation between clinical BMD and the density of three-dimensional finite element model of the femur. However, the correlation between the density variation between intertrochanteric region and collum femoris region of the model and the fracture site has not been studied yet. The present study intends to investigate whether the regional difference in the density of three-dimensional finite element model of the femur can be used to predict hip fracture site in elderly females. The CT data of both hip joints were collected from 16 cases of elderly female patients with hip fractures. Mimics 15.01 software was used to reconstruct the model of proximal femur on the healthy side. Ten kinds of material properties were assigned. In Abaqus 6.12 software, the collum femoris region and intertrochanteric region were, respectively, drawn for calculating the corresponding regional density of the model, followed by prediction of hip fracture site and final comparison with factual fracture site. The intertrochanteric region/collum femoris region density was [(1.20 ± 0.02) × 10(6)] on the fracture site and [(1.22 ± 0.03) × 10(6)] on the non-fracture site, and the difference was statistically significant (P = 0.03). Among 16 established models of proximal femur on the healthy side, 14 models were consistent with the actual fracture sites, one model was inconsistent, and one model was unpredictable, with the coincidence rate of 87.5 %. The intertrochanteric region or collum femoris region with lower BMD is more prone to hip fracture of the type on the corresponding site.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the structural changes of gray matter in women with primary dysmenorrhea (PDM) and discuss the potential relationships between the changes and etiology of the disease. METHODS We used an optimized voxel-based morphometry (VBM) approach to compare total and regional volumetric changes of gray matter in 20 primary dysmenorrhea patients with 20 healthy age and menstrual cycle matched controls.All subjects were patients from the outpatient department of Tongji Hospital in 2015. RESULTS Abnormal volumetric decreases of gray matter were found in the left and right parahippocampus, the left and right middle temporal gyrus, the left and right superior parietal lobule, the left postcentral cortex, the left and right inferior parietal lobule, which involved in pain transmission, pain modulation and somatic sensation. CONCLUSION Abnormal gray matter volume changes are present in some encephalic regions of PDM patients.The functions of these regions are associated with pain modulation and somatic sensation, which suggests the changes are related with PDM.

Abstract
A sensitive method based on high-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) has been developed for the simultaneous determination of folic acid (FA) and its active metabolite, 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (5-M-THF), in human plasma. The analytes were extracted from plasma with methanol solution containing 10 mg/mL of 2-mercaptoethanol and 0.025% (v/v) ammonium hydroxide. FA and 5-M-THF were more stable after the addition of 2-mercaptoethanol and ammonium hydroxide in the sample preparation procedures of this study than they were in the previously published methods. Chromatographic separation was performed on a Hedera ODS-2 column using a gradient elution system of acetonitrile and 1 mM ammonium acetate buffer solution containing 0.6% formic acid as mobile phase. LC–MS/MS was carried out with an ESI ion-source and operated in the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. The assay was linear over the concentration ranges of 0.249–19.9 ng/mL for FA, and 5.05–50.5 ng/mL for 5-M-THF. The developed LC–MS/MS method offers increased sensitivity for quantification of FA and 5-M-THF in human plasma and was applicable to a pharmacokinetic study of FA and 5-M-THF.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish a model of cardiac fibrosis induced by isoproterenol (ISO), the non-selective β adrenoceptor agonist, injected subcutaneously for 7 days in rats, and to observe changes of transcription factor NF-κB in the model. METHODS Male SD rats weighing 280-320 g were injected with ISO (0.25 mg/kg/d) subcutaneously for 7 days to induce cardiac fibrosis. The collagen volume fraction was determined by quantitative morphometry of picrosirius red stained left ventricular sections. Collagen types I/III and IL-6 mRNA expressions were analyzed by real time PCR. The pathological changes of the heart were investigated by Hematoxylin and Eosin staining. NF-κB was localized by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and phosphorylated NF-κB levels were assessed by Western blot analysis. RESULTS Compared with the controls, ISO significantly elevated the sirius red stained area and collagen volume fraction (12.01±1.644 vs. 0.95±0.067, P<0.001). Similarly, ISO increased the mRNA expressions of collagen Iand collagen III of the heart compared with the controls (10.51±0.47 vs. 0.98±0.02,P<0.001 for collagen I; 9.58±1.33 vs. 1.02±0.02, P<0.001 for collagen III). The number of nuclei was increased and nuclear accumulation was presented in myocardial tissue induced by ISO. The mRNA expression of IL-6 increased in ISO group (1.64±0.18 vs. 1.04±0.07, P<0.01). ISO induced NF-κB nuclear translocation, accompanied by an increase in phosphorylation of NF-κB (10.83±2.05 vs. 1.05±0.27, P<0.001). CONCLUSION We conclude that the model of cardiac fibrosis can be successfully induced by ISO injected subcutaneously for 7 days in rats and the activation of nuclear factor NF-κB increased by β-adrenoceptor stimulation.

Abstract
The variations of microbial community in the sludge of sulfate-reducing UASB during domestication period were analyzed by PCR-DGGE technique. The results showed that the diversity of microbial community was strongly related to the sulfate reduction and COD removal performance. The sulfate reduction rate of the reactor was about 95% when the Shannon index of microbial community was higher than 3.45. The preponderant bands in DGGE figure were excised and cloned, and the sequencing analysis indicated there were Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, Deinococcus-Thermus and Chloroflexi in the sludge, which accounted for 50.0%, 28.6% 14.3% and 7.1% of the total sequences of samples, respectively. The anaerobic fermentative bacteria of Clostridium sp. were predominant in the whole domestication period, but the predominant species was changing. Some anaerobic bacteria like Chloroflexi sp. and Geopsychrobacter sp. were detected to be dominant species, which then disappeared along with further domestication, but anaerobic bacteria Geobacter sp. became gradually predominant in the domestication process. Species of Desulfovibrio sp. were detected to be predominant only in the last two phases of domestication.

Abstract
Snow lotus (Saussurea involucrata Kar. et Kir.) is a rare and beneficial traditional Chinese medicinal herb, growing in the mountains at heights of 4,000 to 4,300 m in the Tianshan and A'er Tai areas in China (2). Because of its very slow growth and exhaustive plant collection, the wild population has been listed as a protected plant by the Chinese government. In recent years, it has succeeded in artificial cultivation. Since 2010, severe powdery mildew infections were repeatedly observed on leaves of the plant of artificial cultivation in Urumqi, Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China. White superficial mycelia were present epiphyllously on both sides of the leaves as well as on young stems, forming a thin, irregular covering. Infections often cause leaf yellowing, reduced growth, and premature defoliation. On the basis of microscopic examination, the morphology of the fungus can be described as follows: Conidiophores emerged through leaf stomata, singly or branched, and form dimorphic conidia. Primary conidia are lanceolate with distinct apical points and 44 to 63 × 12 to 22 μm. Secondary conidia are ellipsoid to cylindrical and 41 to 59 × 12 to 20 μm. The germ tube has indistinct appressoria, is longer than conidia length, and arises from the subterminal region of conidia. These morphological features are typical of the anamorphic stage description of Leveillula taurica (Lév.) Arnaud (1). No ascomata were observed. Representative voucher specimens were deposited in the fungal herbarium of Xinjiang Agriculture University (HMACC 40731). To verify the identity of the fungus, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA was amplified and sequenced, and the sequences were deposited as GenBank Accession No. KC292212. Comparison with sequences in the GenBank database revealed that the ITS sequence showed 99% homology with the sequence of L. taurica on Helianthus sp. (AB044378) and Gundelia tournefortii (AB667874). Thus, the pathogen was identified as L. taurica on the basis of the morphological characters and the ITS sequence. Pathogenicity was confirmed through inoculation by gently pressing diseased leaves onto leaves of healthy potted plants. Three inoculated plants were kept under a plastic humid chamber, whereas the same number of non-inoculated plants served as the control. The plants were placed under natural conditions (25 to 28°C) with 80 to 90% humidity. At 5 days after inoculation, typical symptoms of powdery mildew developed on the inoculated plants. No symptoms were seen on the control plants. To our knowledge, this is the first record of L. taurica on S. involucrata in the world. Because the plant is becoming widely cultivated in the Urumqi for use as a Chinese medicinal herb, the occurrence of powdery mildew poses a potential threat to the health of snow lotus. Abstract
Spin crossover by means of an electric bias is investigated by spin-polarized density-functional theory calculations combined with the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's technique in a molecular junction, where an individual single-molecule magnet Fe{2}(acpybutO)(O{2}CMe)(NCS){2} is sandwiched between two infinite Au(100) nanoelectrodes. Our study demonstrates that the spin crossover, based on the Stark effect, is achieved in this molecular junction under an electric bias but not in the isolated molecule under external electric fields. The main reason is that the polarizability of the molecular junction has an opposite sign to that of the isolated molecule, and thus from the Stark effect the condition for the spin crossover in the molecular junction is contrary to that in the isolated molecule.

Abstract
A non-destructive thermal effusivity characterization method described as a freestanding serpentine sensor-based 3ω technique was reported. This freestanding serpentine sensor was fabricated by the mature flexible printed circuit production technique. Expression for the temperature response of the freestanding serpentine sensor with respect to the thermal effusivity of the test sample was presented. The technique was further verified by measuring four kinds of standard samples at room temperature. Experimental results which well agree with reference values demonstrate the new technique is of great application value to thermal effusivity characterization of solids, liquids, and structures to which the conventional 3ω technique is not applicable, e.g., solids with porous surfaces.

Abstract
During May of 2009, a new devastating disease was observed on pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) that caused losses estimated at 30% as surveyed by 10 orchards in Panzhihua-Xichang Region of Sichuan Province, Southwest China. Characteristic symptoms were yellow and wilting leaves. Initial symptoms only occurred on shoots, but later, leaves of the whole tree turned yellow and wilted, causing extensive defoliation and dieback and the xylem of the trunk turned brown to black with a star burst-like pattern. Finally, heavy infection resulted in the whole tree dying, causing severe yield losses. A fungus was consistently isolated from basal stems and roots of diseased plants. Single conidia were obtained and cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 25 ± 1°C with a 12-h light/dark photoperiod. Mycelium was initially hyaline and then rapidly became dark greenish brown. Two types of endoconidia were produced in 5 days. Barrel-shaped conidia were hyaline, 1-celled, and measured 7.3 to 9.4 × 11.6 to 13.2 μm. Cylindrical conidia were hyaline, 1-celled, and measured 9.2 to 29.6 × 3.1 to 6.8 μm. Aleurioconidia were brownish, thick walled, near globose, and measured 8.7 to 18.1 × 8.2 to 10.7 μm. Perithecia were dark brown to black, globose, measured 90.8 to 149.8 μm in diameter, and had a long thin neck, 254.4 to 533.8 μm long, through which ascospores exuded. Ascospores were small, hyaline, hat shaped, measured 3.7 to 6.5 × 3.1 to 5.7 μm, and accumulated in a sticky matrix at the tip of the ascomal neck. The fungus was identified as Ceratocystis fimbriata (anamorph Chalara sp.) (1). The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA was amplified with universal primers ITS4/ITS5 and sequenced (GenBank Accession No. HQ529711), and comparisons with GenBank showed 99% similarity with C. fimbriata on Colocasia esculenta from Brazil (Accession No. AM712448.1). Pathogenicity tests were conducted. Two-week-old seedlings of pomegranate cv. Qingpiruanzi, germinated in plastic containers in the greenhouse, were wounded with a needle to a depth of 0.5 mm at the base of the stem below the soil level and near the root system, and then inoculated by drenching the wounds with a spore suspension (105 conidia per ml). Control plants were inoculated with sterile water. There were four replicates for each treatment. The treated plants were incubated at 25 ± 1°C with 80 to 95% relative humidity under a 12-h light/dark photoperiod in a greenhouse. All inoculated plants wilted within 25 days after inoculation and C. fimbriata was reisolated. All control plants remained healthily. To our knowledge, this is the first finding of pomegranate wilt caused by C. fimbriata in Sichuan Province. This pathogen may pose a serious threat to pomegranate production in Sichuan where it is a major fruit tree. Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Aristolochic acid I (AAI), a major component derived from Aristolochia species, which have been known for a long time and remain in use today, particularly in Asia and Central America. It has been confirmed to induce a type of so-called aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) and involved in the development of Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN). AIM OF THE STUDY To investigate the kinetic of AAI in beagle dogs after single-dose oral administration of Radix Aristolochiae or its preparation, Guanxinsuhe, as well as the effects of compound compatibility in traditional Chinese medicine on the pathologic processes of AAN. MATERIALS AND METHODS Beagle dogs were orally administrated Radix Aristolochiae (0.3 g/kg/day), Guanxinsuhe preparation (0.9 g/kg/day) (with an identical dosage of AAI), and empty capsules respectively for 180 days. Canines (n=2) were euthanized on day 90, 180, 210, HPLC was established to determine the AAI level in plasma and the kinetic behaviors of AAI in dogs were elucidated after single dosing. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-staining was applied for histopathologic examination to evaluate the pathological status of kidneys. RESULTS Compared to canines with Radix Aristolochiae treatment, the Cmax, AUC, Tmax, and t(1/2β) of AAI in Guanxinsuhe preparation group were elevated, while t(1/2α) of AAI was decreased. The results indicated the co-existing components in Guanxinsuhe preparation could increase the absorption, accelerate the distribution, but delay the absorption and elimination of AAI. After long-term dosing, animals treated with Radix Aristolochiae were found with more severe renal impairment and higher AAI level in plasma. CONCLUSIONS It was demonstrated that the compound compatibility in Guanxinsuhe preparation can affect the kinetic process of AAI and attenuate the toxic effect on kidney when the duration of treatment was prolonged.

Abstract
In recent two decades, the 3ω technique has been proven to be valuable for characterizing thermophysical properties of materials from nanoscale to bulk, but some inherent deficiencies in this technique such as laborious and repeated four-pad micro strip heater/sensor deposition process and flimsiness of the micro heater/sensor limit its practical applications. Here, the authors report a novel 3ω technique, based on a freestanding sensor replacing the conventional 3ω heater/sensor adjacent to the specimen surface. A zigzag temperature response curve of the new sensor instead of the classical straight line was observed and used to extract the specimen thermal conductivity. Experimental results which excellently agree with calculation values show that the new technique is of great application value to thermal properties characterization of amorphous bulks and hundreds of microns thick wafers.

Abstract
Silver crucian carp (Carassius auratus gibelio Bloch), as a gynogenetic fish, is a promising model for the study of the evolutionary genetics of vertebrates. We have developed 59 polymorphic trinucleotide and tetranucleotide markers for the silver crucian carp through the biotin capture method and radioactive-labeling hybridization. The number of alleles ranged from 2 to 12 in the population, and the average proportion of heterozygotes (including tri- and diallelic) at polymorphic loci was 76.8%. In addition, these loci were successfully applied to a close relative, the crucian carp (Carassius auratus), by cross-amplification, as shown by the range of alleles (2-19), observed heterozygosity (0.1765-0.9706), expected heterozygosity (0.2392-0.9421), and polymorphism information content (0.2186-0.9236).

Abstract
Water samples were collected in the outbreak and decline of Microcystis spp. bloom in three different lake areas of Lake Xuanwu for studying the bacterial community composition during the bloom to provide clew for understanding the dynamics of water bloom. Traditional microbiological methods were used for culturable bacterial analysis, while the amplified products of variable V3 region of bacterial 16S rDNA were used for bacterial community DNA finger print by using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), and the 16S rDNA sequences of predominant bacteria in the community were used for phylogenetic analysis. Results showed three groups of bacteria were detected during Microcystis spp. bloom, including Proteobacteria, Firmicutes and Bacteroides. In the outbreak of the boom, the propotion of Firmicutes, Bacteroides and alpha-, beta-, gamma-Proteobacteria in total bacteria account for 31.25%, 25%, 18.75%, 12.5% and 12.5% respectively, and sixteen genera of bacteria are predominant in the bacterial community. While in the decline of the bloom, the proportion of gamma-Proteobacteria increases up to 50%, followed by Firmicutes and alpha-Proteobacteria, with the proportion of 33.3% and 16.7% respectively. Some species including Hydrogenophaga, Vogesella, Sphingomonas, and Exiguobacterium disappear when the bloom declining, but the abundance of total bacterial goes up. Pseudomonas and Bacillus are always the leading genera but with changing in species. During the same stage of the bloom, bacterial diversity in the lake area with more Microcystis spp. aggregates is lower. The variation in bacterial community composition may be correlated with changes of organic matters and other environmental factors that affected directly by wax and wane of Microcystis spp. aggregates, and the density of the aggregates may have effect on bacterial diversity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To estimate the size of men who have sex with men (MSM) in Shanghai. METHODS Multiplier method was used in the study and two popular Shanghai-based MSM websites were selected as targeted institutions. The number of MSM (r) who visited website during a given period was investigated by a web-based questionnaire. Meanwhile, a survey was conducted among MSM living in Shanghai to obtain the proportion of MSM who had visited the websites during the given period, the reciprocal number of this proportion was the multiplier (m), therefore, population size can be estimated by r multiplied by m. RESULTS The MSM population was estimated as 398 433 when website A was selected as target institution and 370 755 was estimated when website B was selected. The estimated population of MSM accounted for 7.1% and 6.6% of male population aged 15 to 49 years old in Shanghai, respectively. CONCLUSION It was feasible to use multiplier method which selecting MSM website as target institution to estimate the size of MSM population, however, the representativeness of this study sample should be considered seriously.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To discuss forensic identification of floating shoulder injury (FSI). METHODS To analyze fifteen cases of FSI which were accepted from Jan. 1993 to Jan. 2006, including 15 shoulder neck fracture, 13 clavide stem fracture and 2 distal end clavide fracture, the function of shoulder joint was evaluated six months after injure considering the following three aspects: result of forensic examination such as X-ray photograph, CT and MRI, the injurers' symptom, objective sign and joint function, shoulder joint territory, degree of pain and local muscle power. RESULTS Basing on the curative effect standard of Herscovic, all cases were divided into good. Modest, worst, which included 2, 4, 9 cases respectively; referring the standard of GA35-92, GB18667-2002, all cases were divided into six, seven, eight, nine and ten degree, which included 2,9,2,1,1 cases respectively. CONCLUSION As a special powerful injure, FSI always companied with concurrent and multiple injure, and characterized by missed, incorrect and delayed diagnosis and infelicitous treatment, which lead to the high frequency and degree of injure. To prevent missed and incorrect forensic identification, we should have a full realization of the particularity of FSI, and evaluate the function of shoulder all-sidely, objectively and synseticaly.

Abstract
We report first-principles calculations on the electrical transport properties of two kinds of one-dimensional nanowires: (a) a carbon nanowire (CNW) with alternating single and triple bonds and (b) a boron-nitrogen nanowire (BNNW) with equidistant bonds. We demonstrate the similarity and difference between the carbon nanowire and its boron-nitrogen analogue in the molecular orbital and transport properties, and then explore the potential innovations. The effects of molecular orbitals and nanowire-electrode coupling on the transport properties are analyzed. The cases of the nanowires sandwiched between both nanoscale and bulk electrodes are considered. It suggests that the characteristics of the transmission spectra and the current-voltage characteristics (I-V curves) are determined both by the electrodes and by the molecule as well as their coupling. In particular, the negative differential resistance (NDR) phenomenon is more apparent when the nanowires are positioned between two nanoscale electrodes. The tuning of the transport properties is also probed through the changes of nanowire-electrode separation and the inclusion of a gate voltage. These lead to dramatic variations in the equilibrium conductance, which can be understood from the shift and alignment of the molecular orbital relative to the Fermi level of the electrodes. In the analysis of the effects of nanowire-electrode separation, it shows that the equilibrium conductance has the same variation behavior as that of the projected density of states (PDOS) for CNW, while the localized molecular orbitals of BNNW result in its conductance varies differently from its PDOS. The different molecular orbital characteristics near the Fermi level of these two kinds of nanowires underlie their different transport properties.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) have been suggested to regulate the initiation and progression of many types of solid tumors. The aim of the study was to separate, cultivate, identify oral CAFs, and to investigate their biological characteristics. MATERIALS AND METHODS The primary CAFs and normal fibroblasts (NFs) of the tongue were obtained by tissue culture. Then cells were dissociated by 0.25% trypsin and purified by curettage method combining with trypsinization. The cells were verified according to morphological observation and immunohistochemical staining of certain proteins. Multiple proliferation indexes and karyotype of the cells were assayed. RESULTS Third passage purified oral CAFs and NFs were attained successfully. The morphological characteristics of the CAFs changed significantly comparing to the NFs. The CAFs showed positive staining for vimentin, alpha-smooth muscle actin and matrix metalloproteinases-2. The proliferation and mitosis ability of the CAFs were significantly increased compared with the NFs (P < 0.05). No karyotypic abnormalities were found in the CAFs. CONCLUSIONS There were obvious differences in the biological characteristics between oral CAFs and NFs. The results may provide us an experimental foundation for further studies on the roles of CAFs in the initiation and progression of oral cancer.

Abstract
Compound A (2-fluoromethoxy-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoro-1-propene) is produced by reaction of the inhalation anesthetic, sevoflurane, with CO2 absorbents. Compound A has been reported to directly react with protein. Since adduction of proteins can transform them into antigenic material, Compound A was assessed for its ability to produce a humoral immune response. Male outbred Hartley guinea pigs (500-600 g, N = 7) were exposed via inhalation for 4 h to a subtoxic level (100 ppm) of Compound A, 3 times, at 42 day intervals. Blood samples obtained at 2, 14, 28 and 40 days after each exposure were measured for ALT, creatinine, and urea nitrogen and for the presence of antibodies to trifluoroacetylated guinea pig albumin (TFA-GSA). All indicators of liver and kidney injury remained within normal range throughout the course of the study. A humoral immune response to TFA-GSA was observed following each exposure to Compound A with a titer appearing by day 14 after exposure, peaking near day 28, and resolving to normal levels by day 40. The titer levels were approximately equivalent after each exposure and about one-third that previously seen in guinea pigs after multiple exposures to halothane. Compound A would appear to have the ability to form antigenic adducts during inhalation exposure. These findings are similar to those observed for halogenated inhalation anesthetics that have been linked to cases of immune-medicated idiosyncratic hepatitis and indicate that Compound A exposure may pose the same hazard.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of mid-artificial liver support system (ALSS) on viral hepatitis gravis. METHODS One hundred and thirty eight patients with hepatitis gravis were treated with plasma exchange combined with fetal hepacyties, fifty six patients were treated with plasma exchange and other forty eight patients were treated with fetal hepacyties respectively. The liver function was examined in all patients before ALSS. The liver function, amino acid spectrum and cardiac muscle enzyme were examined before and after ALSS in patients treated with plasma exchange and fetal hepacyties. RESULTS It showed that the survival rate of the patients treated with plasma exchange combined with fetal hepacyties was higher than that of the patients only treated with plasma exchange or fetal hepacyties (P < 0.01). The liver function, BCAA/AAA ratio and cardiac muscle enzyme also significantly changed in patients treated with plasma exchange and fetal hepacyties before and after ALSS (p < 0.01 or 0.05). CONCLUSION Plasma exchange combined with fetal hepacyties can effectively treat viral hepatits gravis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the effects of sFas in hepatocellular cancer (HCC) and chronic hepatitis (CH). METHODS The serum sFas was detected in 18 patients with HCC, 12 patients with CH and 6 cases of normal control by ELISA. RESULTS The serum sFas in HCC was obviously increased and had significant difference with the patients of CH and normal control (P < 0.01). The serum sFas had positive correlation with the serum TBIL(P < 0.01), but negative correlation with the ALB, PTA and the ratio of ALT/AST(P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS sFas may resist the occurrence of HCC apoptosis. In CH, sFas has correlation with the severity of CH. The role of sFas in viral hepatitis is uncertain.
