Abstract
AIM To develop a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics model for the preoperative identification of mesenchymal transition (MT) subtype in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and eighty-nine patients with histopathologically confirmed HGSOC were enrolled retrospectively. Among the included patients, 55 patients were determined as the MT subtype and the remaining 134 were non-MT subtype. After extracting a total of 204 features from T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and contrast-enhanced (CE)-T1WI images, the Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman correlation test, and Boruta algorithm were adopted to select the optimal feature set. Three classifiers, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and random forest (RF), were trained to develop radiomics models. The performance of established models was evaluated from three aspects: discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. RESULTS Seven radiomics features relevant to MT subtypes were selected to build the radiomics models. The model based on the RF algorithm showed the best performance in predicting MT subtype, with areas under the curves (AUCs) of 0.866 (95 % confidence interval [CI]: 0.797-0.936) and 0.852 (95 % CI: 0.736-0.967) in the training and testing cohorts, respectively. The calibration curves, supported with Brier scores, indicated very good consistency between observation and prediction. Decision curve analysis (DCA) showed that the RF-based model could provide more net benefit, which suggested favorable utility in clinical application. CONCLUSION The RF-based radiomics model provided accurate identification of MT from the non-MT subtype and may help facilitate personalised management of HGSOC.

Abstract
Numerous social media platforms have evolved into fertile grounds for the proliferation of irrational information, expanding the avenues of information dissemination. This paper initially utilized the Weibo and Bilibili social platforms as exemplars and devised a cross-platform two-layer network SEIaIbR-FXYaYbZ dissemination model grounded in classical infectious disease models. Subsequently, this research computed the model equilibrium point, basic reproduction number, and information entropy through dynamic equations. Finally, the model equations were fitted to real cases to determine optimal parameter solutions and conduct simulation analysis. The simulation results reveal that: (i) information entropy values on both platforms are low, with irrational information predominantly influencing public opinion; (ii) concerning various types of information, the augmentation of rational information results in a reduction of irrational information, while the quantity of rational information remains largely unaffected by changes in the quantity of irrational information; (iii) examining different platforms for information dissemination, alterations in the circulation rate and quantity of rational information on the Weibo platform impact the quantity of rational and irrational information on the Bilibili platform, while those changes on the Bilibili platform exert minimal influence on public opinion information on the Weibo platform. The results and corresponding strategies obtained from this study on the cross-platform dissemination of rational and irrational information on Weibo and Bilibili can provide a reference for relevant departments to guide the rational development of online information and enhance the effective management of public opinion in social media platforms.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES It has been demonstrated that neoadjuvant immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) plus chemotherapy was safe and feasible referred to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer undergoing sleeve lobectomy. Nevertheless, no survival data were reported in the previous researches. Therefore, we conducted this study to compare neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by sleeve lobectomy for long-term survival outcomes. METHODS Patients who underwent bronchial sleeve lobectomy following neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy or neoadjuvant chemotherapy were retrospectively identified. Treatment response, perioperative outcomes, event-free survival and overall survival were compared between groups in the overall and the inverse probability of treatment weighting-adjusted cohort. RESULTS A total of 139 patients with 39 lung cancer recurrence and 21 death were included. Among them, 83 (59.7%) and 56 (40.3%) patients received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy, respectively. After inverse probability of treatment weighting, more patients achieved complete pathological response in the neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy group (6.0% vs 26.3%, P < 0.001). There was no significant difference regarding overall postoperative complication (23.8% vs 20.2%, P = 0.624) and specific complications (all P > 0.05). Patients receiving neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy had favourable event-free survival (hazard ratio 0.37, 95% confidence interval 0.16-0.85, P = 0.020) and overall survival (hazard ratio 0.23, 95% confidence interval 0.06-0.80, P = 0.021). Multivariable analysis revealed that neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy was an independent predictor for favourable event-free survival (hazard ratio 0.37, 95% confidence interval 0.15-0.86, P = 0.020, adjusted for clinical TNM stage). CONCLUSIONS Neoadjuvant ICI plus chemotherapy was correlated with favourable long-term survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer undergoing sleeve lobectomy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The Lepidic Component (LP) identifies a subgroup with an excellent prognosis for lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Our research aimed to propose an improved pathological T (pT) stage for LUAD based on LP. MATERIALS AND METHODS Totally, 3335 surgical patients with pathological stage I LUAD were incorporated. Factors affecting survival were investigated by analyzing recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analyses. Subgroup analysis based on Lepidic Ratio (LR) was further evaluated. The net benefit from the modified pT category (pTm) was assessed using the Area Under the time-dependent Receiver Operating Curve (AUC), Harrell's Concordance Index (C-index), Reclassification Improvement (NRI), and Integrated Discrimination Improvement (IDI). RESULTS The presence of LP (LP+) was identified in 1425 (42.7 %) patients, indicating a significantly better RFS (P < 0.001) and OS (P < 0.001) than those without LP, and similar results were reproduced in pT1a-pT2a subcategory (P < 0.050 for all). Multivariable Cox analysis revealed LP+ as an independent prognostic factor for both RFS (HR, 0.622; P < 0.001) and OS (HR, 0.710; P = 0.019). However, lepidic ratio (LR) was not independently associated with both RFS and OS for LP+ patients. The 5-year RFS and OS rates between T1a (LP-) and T1b (LP+), T1b (LP-) and T1c (LP+), and T1b (LP-) and T2a (LP+) were comparable (P > 0.050 for all). After modification, compared with current 8th edition pT stage system (pT8), pTm independently predicted RFS and OS, and AUCs, c-index, NRI, and IDI analysis all demonstrated pTm holds better discrimination performances than pT8 for LUAD prognosis. CONCLUSION LP can be an additional down-staged T descriptor for pathological stage I LUAD and improve the survival predictive performance of reclassification.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the value of virtual non-calcium (VNCa) technique of dual-energy CT (DECT) for detecting bone marrow edema (BME) around nontraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) using MRI as reference standard. Methods: Nontraumatic ONFH patients were prospectively studied in the Fourth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital from October 2022 to May 2023, and their MRI and DECT images were analyzed. The diagnostic efficiency of the subjective assessment of BME around ONFH by two radiologists in VNCa color-coded images were calculated using the MRI results as the reference standard. The BME ranges were compared between VNCa images and MRI. Traditional CT values and VNCa CT values were compared between normal bone marrow and BME. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was established based on the statistically different CT values, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to find the threshold to distinguish normal bone marrow from BME and evaluate the diagnostic efficacy. Results: Thirty patients with ONFH were included, including 24 males and 6 females, aged (39±12) years. There were 18 bilateral hips and 12 unilateral hips, with a total of 48 hips, 34 hips of which showed BME on MRI. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and accuracy of subjective detection of BME on VNCa color coded maps by two physicians were 97.1% (33/34) and 97.1% (33/34), 92.9% (13/14) and 71.4% (10/14), 97.1% (33/34) and 89.2% (33/37), 92.9% (13/14) and 90.9% (10/11), 95.8% (46/48) and 89.6% (43/48), respectively, with no statistical difference (all P>0.05).There was no statistical difference between VNCa color-coded images and MRI in the BME range (P=1.160). The traditional CT values measured by the two radiologists were in good agreement with VNCa CT values, with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.948 (95%CI: 0.908-0.971) and 0.982 (95%CI: 0.969-0.990), respectively. The traditional CT value of normal bone marrow was (400.7±82.8) HU, and that of BME was (443.7±65.7) HU, with no statistical difference (P=0.062). The VNCa CT value of normal bone marrow was (-103.1±27.8) HU, and that of BME was (-32.9±25.7) HU, with statistical difference (P<0.001). The AUC of distinguishing normal bone marrow from BME based on VNCa CT value was 0.958 (95%CI: 0.857-0.995). The best cut-off value was -74.5 HU, and when the VNCa CT value was higher than -74.5 HU, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy of diagnosing BME were 97.1%, 92.9%, 97.1%, 92.9% and 95.8 %, respectively. Conclusion: The VNCa technique of DECT has high efficiency in detecting BME around ONFH, and can accurately demonstrate the range of BME.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to describe the association between empathy and residents' clinical performance and investigate whether work-related perception mediates this relationship. METHODS A multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted, including 1160 residents from 10 cities in Liaoning Province between March and October 2020. The participants completed various self-reported questionnaires regarding demographic characteristics, work-related perceptions, self-perceived clinical performance, and empathy. The relationships among empathy, work-related perception, and self-perceived clinical performance were examined using a structural equation model (SEM). RESULTS Of the 1160 residents, 961 (82.8 %) completed the questionnaires. The SEM path analysis showed that the direct effect of empathy on self-perceived clinical performance was significant and positive (β = 0.34, P < 0.001). There existed significant effects of empathy on work-related perception (β = 0.26, P < 0.001) and work-related perception on performance (β = 0.31, P < 0.001). The path coefficients of empathy concerning self-perceived clinical performance decreased significantly (β = 0.26, P < 0.001) when work-related perception was modeled as a mediator. The bias-corrected and accelerated bootstrap test revealed that work-related perception significantly mediated the relationship between empathy and self-perceived clinical performance (a*b = 0.08, BCa 95 % CI: 0.05-0.13). However, the correlation between the sub-scales of empathy and the items of self-perceived clinical performance was not substantial, even if most of them were statistically significant. The final SEM produced a good fit to the sample data, with CMIN/DF = 2.07 (P < 0.001), CFI = 0.99, GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.98, NFI = 0.97, RMSEA (90 % CI) = 0.033 (0.017, 0.049), and SRMR = 0.024. CONCLUSION Empathy might significantly affect self-perceived clinical performance both directly and indirectly through the mediating role of work-related perception. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Efforts to improve clinical performance among residents might benefit from interventions for cultivating empathy and practices for improving work-related perceptions of residents.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the feasibility of using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography for measuring right ventricular strain and function in healthy adults, and to analyze the impact of age and gender. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. Healthy adults who underwent physical examination in the Physical Examination Center of Beijing Hospital from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021 were included. Two researchers independently measured various right ventricular longitudinal strain indices using the Echopac software, including (global longitudinal strain (GLS), apical longitudinal strain (ALS), midventricle longitudinal strain (MLS), basal longitudinal strain (BLS), free wall GLS (FWGLS), free wall ALS (FWALS), free wall MLS (FWMLS) and free wall BLS (FWBLS)) as well as tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and right ventricle-fraction of area change (RVFAC). The above indicators were taken as the average of two physicians. The consistency of the measurements by two physicians was evaluated by the within-group correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: A total of 233 subjects were included, including 137 males, aged (58.5±14.2) years. ICC values was all above 0.8 with excellent agreement. The values of FWGLS and GLS in healthy adults were -26.63% and -21.89%, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in TAPSE ((2.06±0.41)cm vs. (2.10±0.39)cm, P=0.510) and RVFAC ((51.17±9.91)% vs. (50.89±8.65)%, P=0.826) between males and females. The values of various right ventricular long axis strain indicators (GLS, ALS, MLS, BLS, FWGLS, FWMLS, FWMLS, FWBLS) in females aged 18 to 40 and 41 to 65 years were higher than those in males of the same age (all P<0.05), while there was no statistically significant difference in the values of various right ventricular long axis strain indicators between the sexes in subjects aged 65 years and above (all P>0.05). In females, the right ventricular GLS, ALS, MLS, FWGLS, FWALS, FWMLS, and FWBLS values in the groups aged 18 to 40 and 41 to 65 years were significantly higher than those in the group aged 65 years and above (all P<0.05). In contrast, no significant differences were found in these indices among different age groups in males (all P>0.05). Conclusions: Using two-dimensional speckle tracking technology in echocardiography to measure right ventricular strain indicators is feasible and highly reproducible. Gender and age have an impact on right ventricular strain indicators.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Limited data exist on the characteristics of atypical epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in early-stage lung cancer. Our goal was to elucidate the associations with outcomes and recurrence patterns in resected stage I lung adenocarcinoma harbouring atypical EGFR mutations. METHODS Eligible patients between 2014 and 2019 were retrospectively identified and grouped into exon20 insertion mutations and major atypical mutations, which included G719X, L861Q and S768I. Disease-free survival (DFS) was evaluated in the entire cohort and stratified by radiologic characteristics. Recurrence patterns were investigated and compared between groups. A competing risk model was used to estimate the cumulative incidence of recurrence. RESULTS A total of 710 patients were finally included. Among them, 289 (40.7%) patients had exon 20 insertion mutations and 421 (59.3%) patients had major atypical mutations. There was no significant difference regarding DFS (P = 0.142) between groups in the entire cohort. The interaction between mutation subtype and the presence of ground-glass opacities was significant (hazard ratio 2.00, 95% confidence interval 1.59-2.51, P < 0.001), indicating DFS between exon 20 insertion mutations and major atypical mutations may be different among subsolid and solid tumours. Survival analysis consistently revealed no significant difference in subsolid tumours (P = 0.680), but favourable DFS of exon 20 insertion mutations in solid tumours (P = 0.037). Furthermore, patients with exon 20 insertion mutations had a lower risk of developing bone metastases did those with radiologic solid tumours (Gray's test, P = 0.012). CONCLUSIONS Exon 20 insertion mutations were correlated with favourable DFS and lower incidence of bone metastases in radiologic solid lung adenocarcinomas harbouring atypical EGFR mutations.

Abstract
Cancer arises from the growth and division of uncontrolled erroneous cells. Programmed cell death (PCD), or regulated cell death (RCD), includes natural processes that eliminate damaged or abnormal cells. Dysregulation of PCD is a hallmark of cancer, as cancer cells often evade cell death and continue to proliferate. Exosomes nanoscale extracellular vesicles secreted by different types of cells carrying a variety of molecules, including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids, to have indispensable role in the communication between cells, and can influence various cellular processes, including PCD. Exosomes have been shown to modulate PCD in cancer cells by transferring pro- or antideath molecules to neighboring cells. Additionally, exosomes can facilitate the spread of PCD to surrounding cancer cells, making them promising in the treatment of various cancers. The exosomes' diagnostic potential in cancer is also an active area of research. Exosomes can be isolated from a wide range of bodily fluids and tissues, such as blood and urine, and can provide a noninvasive way to monitor cancer progression and treatment response. Furthermore, exosomes have also been employed as a delivery system for therapeutic agents. By engineering exosomes to carry drugs or other therapeutic molecules, they can be targeted specifically to cancer cells, reducing toxicity to healthy tissues. Here, we discussed exosomes in the diagnosis and prevention of cancers, tumor immunotherapy, and drug delivery, as well as in different types of PCD.

Abstract
PURPOSE No consensus on a grading system for invasive lung adenocarcinoma had been built over a long period of time. Until October 2020, a novel grading system was proposed to quantify the whole landscape of histologic subtypes and proportions of pulmonary adenocarcinomas. This study aims to develop a deep learning grading signature (DLGS) based on positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to personalize surgical treatments for clinical stage I invasive lung adenocarcinoma and explore the biologic basis under its prediction. METHODS A total of 2638 patients with clinical stage I invasive lung adenocarcinoma from 4 medical centers were retrospectively included to construct and validate the DLGS. The predictive performance of the DLGS was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), its potential to optimize surgical treatments was investigated via survival analyses in risk groups defined by the DLGS, and its biological basis was explored by comparing histologic patterns, genotypic alternations, genetic pathways, and infiltration of immune cells in microenvironments between risk groups. RESULTS The DLGS to predict grade 3 achieved AUCs of 0.862, 0.844, and 0.851 in the validation set (n = 497), external cohort (n = 382), and prospective cohort (n = 600), respectively, which were significantly better than 0.814, 0.810, and 0.806 of the PET model, 0.813, 0.795, and 0.824 of the CT model, and 0.762, 0.734, and 0.751 of the clinical model. Additionally, for DLGS-defined high-risk population, lobectomy yielded an improved prognosis compared to sublobectomy p = 0.085 for overall survival [OS] and p = 0.038 for recurrence-free survival [RFS]) and systematic nodal dissection conferred a superior prognosis to limited nodal dissection (p = 0.001 for OS and p = 0.041 for RFS). CONCLUSION The DLGS harbors the potential to predict the histologic grade and personalize the surgical treatments for clinical stage I invasive lung adenocarcinoma. Its applicability to other territories should be further validated by a larger international study.

Abstract
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) causes severe public health challenges throughout the world, and the multi-drug resistance (MDR) of MRSA to antibiotics necessitates the development of more effective antibiotics. Natural 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol (DAPG), produced by Pseudomonas, displays moderate inhibitory activity against MRSA. A series of DAPG derivatives was synthesized and evaluated for their antibacterial activities, and some showed excellent activities (MRSA MIC = 0.5-2 μg/mL). Among these derivatives, 7g demonstrated strong antibacterial activity without resistance development over two months. Mechanistic studies suggest that 7g asserted its activity by targeting bacterial cell membranes. In addition, 7g exhibited significant synergistic antibacterial effects with oxacillin both in vitro and in vivo, with a tendency to eradicate MRSA biofilms. 7g is a promising lead for the treatment of MRSA.

Abstract
Occult nodal metastasis (ONM) plays a significant role in comprehensive treatments of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aims to develop a deep learning signature based on positron emission tomography/computed tomography to predict ONM of clinical stage N0 NSCLC. An internal cohort (n = 1911) is included to construct the deep learning nodal metastasis signature (DLNMS). Subsequently, an external cohort (n = 355) and a prospective cohort (n = 999) are utilized to fully validate the predictive performances of the DLNMS. Here, we show areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the DLNMS for occult N1 prediction are 0.958, 0.879 and 0.914 in the validation set, external cohort and prospective cohort, respectively, and for occult N2 prediction are 0.942, 0.875 and 0.919, respectively, which are significantly better than the single-modal deep learning models, clinical model and physicians. This study demonstrates that the DLNMS harbors the potential to predict ONM of clinical stage N0 NSCLC.

Abstract
Introduction To validate the residual tumor (R) classification proposed by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) in NSCLC after sleeve lobectomy. Methods A total of 682 patients were analyzed. The R status, on the basis of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) criteria, was recategorized according to the IASLC descriptors. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) among different R classifications were assessed for the entire cohort and pathologic node (pN) subgroups. Results All in all, 631 (92.5%), 48 (7.1%), and three patients (0.4%) were classified as R0, R1, and R2, respectively, by the UICC criteria, whereas 489 (71.7%), 110 (16.1%), and 83 patients (12.2%), received R0, uncertain resection (R[un]), and R1/2 resection, respectively, according to the IASLC criteria. There were 96 patients (15.2%) with UICC R0 who were reclassified as R(un), mainly because of the positive highest mediastinal node station (82 of 96, 85.4%). A total of 46 patients (7.3%) were reassigned from UICC R0 to IASLC R1/2 owing to extracapsular extension. For the entire cohort, patients with R(un) and R1/2 exhibited worse RFS (R[un], adjusted p = 0.023; R1/2, adjusted p = 0.001) and OS (R[un], adjusted p = 0.040; R1/2, adjusted p = 0.051) compared with R0. No significant differences were observed between R(un) and R1/2 (RFS, adjusted p = 0.586; OS, adjusted p = 0.781). Furthermore, subgroup analysis revealed a distinct prognostic impact of the IASLC R status-with prognostic significances in the pN1 and pN2 subgroups, but not in the pN0 subgroup. Conclusions The IASLC R descriptors helped to stratify the prognosis of NSCLC after sleeve lobectomy, with its prognostic impact varied among pN stages.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Radiation-induced lymphopenia (RIL) is associated with poor prognosis in solid tumors. This study aimed to describe the lymphocyte kinetics in patients with breast cancer receiving hypofractionated postmastectomy radiotherapy (RT) and to investigate the association of different RT techniques with RIL. MATERIALS/METHODS We assessed 607 patients who received hypofractionated postmastectomy RT for breast cancer in our prospective clinical database from 8 hospitals. All patients received irradiation to the chest wall and supraclavicular fossa. RT techniques included integrated RT with the photon-based intensity modulated techniques to irradiate all target volumes (integrated RT) and a hybrid approach combining photon irradiation to supraclavicular nodes and electron irradiation to the chest wall (hybrid RT). Peripheral lymphocyte counts (PLC) were tested prior to RT (baseline), weekly during RT, at 1, 2 weeks, 3, 6 months after RT, and then every 6 months. Grade 3+ RIL was defined as PLC nadir during RT of <0.5 ×103/ml. Mean PLC was compared by the t test. Univariate, multivariate, and propensity score matching (PSM) analyses were used to evaluate the effect of different RT techniques on grade 3+ RIL. RESULTS During RT, 121 (19.9%) of patients had grade 3+ RIL. The PLC started to recover at 1 week and reached baseline levels 1 year after RT. A greater proportion of the patients treated with the integrated RT (90/269, 33.5%) developed grade 3+ PLC compared with those receiving hybrid RT (31/338, 9.2%, P < 0.001). After conducting PSM, multivariate analyses showed lower baseline PLC (HR = 0.15, P<0.001) and RT technique (the integrated RT vs. hybrid RT, HR = 4.76, P<0.001) were independent risk factors for grade 3+ RIL. The PLC in patients receiving the integrated RT after RT were higher than that in those receiving hybrid RT (p<0.05). CONCLUSION RT technique affect the risk of and recovery from RIL, which may impact survival. Choosing appropriate RT technique to minimize RIL might be considered to benefit their outcomes.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To report the planning dummy run results of the POstmastectomy radioThErapy in Node posiTive breast cancer with or without Internal mAmmary nodaL irradiation (POTENTIAL) trial-a multicenter, randomized, phase 3 trial-to evaluate postmastectomy radiotherapy, with or without internal mammary nodal irradiation, for patients with high-risk breast cancer. MATERIALS/METHODS All participating institutions were provided the contours of the dummy run case, and they generated radiotherapy (RT) plans per protocol guidelines. The plans were reviewed and feedback were provided by the quality assurance team, after which the institutions resubmitted revised plans. The information on beams arrangement, skin flash, inhomogeneity corrections, and protocol compliance was assessed both in the primary and final submission. RESULTS Theplans from 26 institutions were included in the analysis. A number of major deviations were found in the primary submission, such as less strict constraint on organs at risk (OARs) V5Gy, and no application of chest wall skin flash. The protocol compliance rates of the dose coverage for the planning target volume of the chest wall (PTVcw), PTV of supra/infraclavicular fossa plus axilla levels I, II, III (PTVsc+ax), and PTV of the IMN region (PTVim) were all significantly improved in the final submission compared with those in the primary submission, which were 96.2% vs. 69.2%, 100% vs. 76.9%, and 88.4% vs. 53.8, respectively. For OARs, the protocol compliance rates of heart Dmean, left anterior descending coronary artery V40Gy, ipsilateral lung V5Gy, and stomach V5Gy were significantly improved. CONCLUSION All major deviations were corrected and protocol compliance was significantly improved and of high level in the final submission. Moreover, the variations were reduced. Therefore, a planning dummy run was essential to guarantee good RT plan quality and inter-institutional consistency for multicenter trials.

Abstract
While chain-walking stimulates wide interest in both polymerization and organic synthesis, site- and stereoselective control of chain-walking on rings is still a challenging task in the realm of organometallic catalysis. Inspired by a controllable chain-walking on cyclohexane rings in olefin polymerization, we have developed a set of chain-walking carboborations of cyclohexenes based on nickel catalysis. Different from the 1,4-trans-selectivity disclosed in polymer science, a high level of 1,3-regio- and cis-stereoselectivity is obtained in our reactions. Mechanistically, we discovery that the base affects the reduction ability of B2 pin2 and different bases lead to different catalytic cycles and different regioselective products (1,2- Vs 1,3-addition). This study provides a concise and modular method for the synthesis of 1,3-disubstituted cyclohexylboron compounds. The incorporation of a readily modifiable boronate group greatly enhances the value of this method, the synthetic potential of which was highlighted by the synthesis of a series of high-valued commercial chemicals and pharmaceutically interesting molecules.

Abstract
Element isotopes are characterized by distinct atomic masses and nuclear spins, which can significantly influence material properties. Notably, however, isotopes in natural materials are homogenously distributed in space. Here, we propose a method to configure material properties by repositioning isotopes in engineered van der Waals (vdW) isotopic heterostructures. We showcase the properties of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) isotopic heterostructures in engineering confined photon-lattice waves-hyperbolic phonon polaritons. By varying the composition, stacking order, and thicknesses of h10BN and h11BN building blocks, hyperbolic phonon polaritons can be engineered into a variety of energy-momentum dispersions. These confined and tailored polaritons are promising for various nanophotonic and thermal functionalities. Due to the universality and importance of isotopes, our vdW isotope heterostructuring method can be applied to engineer the properties of a broad range of materials.

Abstract
Grain size is one of the most frequently selected traits during domestication and modern breeding. The continued discovery and characterization of new genes and alleles in controlling grain size are important in safeguarding the food supply for the world's growing population. Previously, a small grain size was observed in a rice restorer line 'Fuhui212', while the underlying genetic factors controlling this trait were unknown. In this study, by combining QTL mapping, variant effect prediction, and complementation experiments, we recovered a novel allele RGA1-FH that explains most of the phenotypic changes. The RGA1-FH allele contains an A-to-T splicing site variant that disrupts the normal function of RGA1. While population analysis suggests extremely strong artificial selection in maintaining a functional allele of RGA1, our study is the first, to the best of our knowledge, to prove that a dysfunctional RGA1 allele can also be beneficial in real agricultural production. Future breeding programs would benefit from paying more attention to the rational utilization of those overlooked 'unfavored' alleles.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The 'treat-all' strategy was implemented in Shenzhen, China in 2016. The effect of this extensive treatment on transmitted drug resistance (TDR) of HIV is unclear. METHODS TDR analysis was performed, based on the partial HIV-1 pol gene obtained from the newly reported HIV-1 positive cases from 2011 to 2019 in Shenzhen, China. The HIV-1 molecular transmission networks were inferred to analyse the spread of TDR. Logistic regression was used to identify the potential risk factors with TDR mutations (TDRMs) to cluster. RESULTS A total of 12 320 partial pol sequences were included in this study. The prevalence of TDR was 2.95% (363/12 320), which increased from 2.57% to 3.52% after 'treat-all'. The TDR prevalence was increased in populations with the characteristics of CRF07_BC, being single, educated to junior college level and above, MSM and male. The sensitivities of viruses to six antiretroviral drugs were decreased. The clustering rate of TDRMs remained stable, and the sequences in the three drug resistance transmission clusters (DRTCs) were mainly found during 2011-16. CRF07_BC and CRF55_01B were the factors associated with TDRMs clustering in the networks. CONCLUSIONS The 'treat-all' strategy might have contributed to a small increase in TDR, while most of the TDRMs were distributed sporadically, which implies that the 'treat-all' strategy is helpful for the control of TDR in high-risk populations.

Abstract
Polyphenols, also known as phenolic compounds, are chemical substances containing aromatic rings as well as at least two hydroxyl groups. Natural phenolic compounds exist widely in plants, which protect plants from ultraviolet radiation and other insults. Phenolic compounds have superior pharmacological and nutritional properties (antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-sclerosis, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities), which have been paid more and more attention by the scientific community. Phenols can protect key cellular components from reactive free radical damage, which is mainly due to their property to activate antioxidant enzymes and alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation. It can also inhibit or isolate reactive oxygen species and transfer electrons to free radicals, thereby avoiding cell damage. It has a regulatory role in glucose metabolism, which has a promising prospect in the prevention and intervention of diabetes. It also prevents cardiovascular disease by regulating blood pressure and blood lipids. Polyphenols can inhibit cell proliferation by affecting Erk1/2, CDK, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways. Polyphenols can function as enhancers of intrinsic defense systems, including superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX). Simultaneously, they can modulate multiple proteins and transcription factors, making them promising candidates in the investigation of anti-cancer medications. This review focuses on multiple aspects of phenolic substances, including their natural origins, production process, disinfection activity, oxidative and anti-inflammatory functions, and the effects of different phenolic substances on tumors.

Abstract
The optic chiasm is a critical component of the visual pathway, and lesions in the pituitary and sellar regions can cause irreversible damage to a patient's visual function, resulting in a significant decrease in their quality of life. As a result, neuro-ophthalmology evaluation is a crucial part of the multidisciplinary treatment of pituitary diseases. However, due to the significant variation in the anatomical structure of the optic chiasm and the sellar region, as well as the complexity of the injury mechanism, chiasm injury can result in diverse manifestations and severity levels, which can make it difficult to correlate with anatomical parameters. In recent years, research has increasingly focused on the early recognition of optic chiasm compression, the prediction of visual function after intervention, and the long-term neurodegenerative effects, while optical coherence tomography (OCT), electrophysiological examinations, and functional magnetic resonance imaging are currently the most commonly used methods for evaluating sellar region lesions. However, the role of these methods, represented by OCT, in clinical diagnosis and treatment, still lacks high-level clinical evidence support, and the evaluation and prediction of optic chiasm function remain key areas for further study. In addition to compression lesions, lesions such as inflammation, infiltration, and demyelination in the sellar region, caused by systemic multi-system diseases, can also lead to visual function damage and require recognition in clinical practice.

Abstract
From January 2019 to December 2021, overweight and obese children who visited in health outpatient Center of Hunan Children's Hospital were studied to explore and analyze the rate, related factors and patterns of multimorbidity of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children in Hunan Province. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the multimorbidity-related factors of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. Association rules (apriori algorithm) were used to explore the multimorbidity patterns of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. A total of 725 overweight and obese children were included in this study. The multimorbidity rate of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children was 46.07% (334/725). Age, waist circumference, the frequency of food consumption such as hamburgers and fries and adding meals before bedtime were multimorbidity-related factors of overweight and obesity-related diseases in children. The multimorbidity associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was relatively common. The patterns with the top three support degrees were "NAFLD+dyslipidemia","NAFLD+hypertension" and "NAFLD+hyperuricemia". The patterns with the top three confidence and elevation degrees were "Hypertension+dyslipidemia => NAFLD","Hyperuricemia => NAFLD" and "NAFLD+hypertension => dyslipidemia".

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The current trend of laminoplasty is developing toward the goal of muscle preservation and minimum tissue damage. Given this, muscle-preserving techniques in cervical single-door laminoplasty have been modified with protecting the spinous processes at the sites of C2 and/or C7 muscle attachment and reconstruct the posterior musculature in recent years. To date, no study has reported the effect of preserving the posterior musculature during the reconstruction. The purpose of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the biomechanical effect of multiple modified single-door laminoplasty procedures for restoring stability and reducing response level on the cervical spine. METHODS Different cervical laminoplasty models were established for evaluating kinematics and response simulations based on a detailed finite element (FE) head-neck active model (HNAM), including ① C3 - C7 laminoplasty (LP_C37), ② C3 - C6 laminoplasty with C7 spinous process preservation (LP_C36), ③ C3 laminectomy hybrid decompression with C4 - C6 laminoplasty (LT_C3 + LP_C46) and ④ C3 - C7 laminoplasty with unilateral musculature preservation (LP_C37 + UMP). The laminoplasty model was validated by the global range of motion (ROM) and percentage changes relative to the intact state. The C2 - T1 ROM, axial muscle tensile force, and stress/strain levels of functional spinal units were compared among the different laminoplasty groups. The obtained effects were further analysed by comparison with a review of clinical data on cervical laminoplasty scenarios. RESULTS Analysis of the locations of concentration of muscle load showed that the C2 muscle attachment sustained more tensile loading than the C7 muscle attachment, primarily in flexion-extension (FE) and in lateral bending (LB) and axial rotation (AR), respectively. Simulated results further quantified that LP_C36 primarily produced 10% decreases in LB and AR modes relative to LP_C37. Compared with LP_C36, LT_C3 + LP_C46 resulted in approximately 30% decreases in FE motion; LP C37 + UMP also showed a similar trend. Additionally, when compared to LP_C37, LT_C3 + LP_C46 and LP C37 + UMP reduced the peak stress level at the intervertebral disc by at most 2-fold as well as the peak strain level of the facet joint capsule by 2-3-fold. All these findings were well correlated with the result of clinical studies comparing modified laminoplasty and classic laminoplasty. CONCLUSIONS Modified muscle-preserving laminoplasty is superior to classic laminoplasty due to the biomechanical effect of the posterior musculature reconstruction, with a retained postoperative ROM and loading response levels of the functional spinal units. More motion-sparing is beneficial for increasing cervical stability, which probably accelerates the recovery of postoperative neck movement and reduces the risk of the complication for eventual kyphosis and axial pain. Surgeons are encouraged to make every effort to preserve the attachment of the C2 whenever feasible in laminoplasty.

Abstract
Direct functionalization of inert C-H bonds is one of the most attractive yet challenging strategies for constructing molecules in organic chemistry. Herein, we disclose an unprecedented and Earth abundant Cu/Cr catalytic system in which unreactive alkyl C-H bonds are transformed into nucleophilic alkyl-Cr(III) species at room temperature, enabling carbonyl addition reactions with strong alkyl C-H bonds. Various aryl alkyl alcohols are furnished under mild reaction conditions even on a gram scale. Moreover, this new radical-to-polar crossover approach is further applied to the 1,1-difunctionalization of aldehydes with alkanes and different nucleophiles. Mechanistic investigations reveal that the aldehyde not only acts as a reactant but also serves as a photosensitizer to recycle the Cu and Cr catalysts.

Abstract
Digestive tract diseases are presently the hotspot of clinical diagnosis and treatment, and the incidence of digestive tract tumor is increasing annually. Surgery remains the main therapeutic schedule for digestive tract tumor. Though benefits were brought by neoadjuvant chemotherapy, a part of patients lose the chance of surgery because of late detection or inappropriate intervention. Therefore, the treatment of inoperable patients has become an urgent need. At the same time, tumor metabolism is an extremely complex and diverse process. Natural products are confirmed effective to inhibit the development of tumors in vitro and in vitro. There are many kinds of natural products and their functions remain not clear. However, some natural products such as polyphenols have been proven to have definite anti-cancer effects, and some terpenoids have definite anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-tumor, and other effects. Therefore, the anti-tumor characteristics of natural products should arouse our high attention. Although there are many obstacles to study the activities of natural products in tumor, including the difficulty in detection or distinguishing each component due to their low levels in tumor tissue, etc., the emergence of highly sensitive and locatable spatial metabolomics make the research and application of natural products a big step forward. In this review, natural products such as phenols, terpenoids and biotinoids were summarized to further discuss the development and therapeutic properties of natural metabolites on digestive tract tumors.

Abstract
Introduction The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer proposed a novel grading system of invasive pulmonary adenocarcinoma (IPA), but the application of this grading system and its genotypic characterization in the real diagnostic scenario has never been reported. Methods We prospectively collected and analyzed the clinicopathological and genotypic features of a cohort of 9353 consecutive patients with resected IPA, including 7134 patients with detection of common driver mutation. Results In the entire cohort, 3 (0.3%) of lepidic, 1207 (19.0%) of acinar, and 126 (23.6%) of papillary predominant IPAs were diagnosed as grade 3. In chronological order, an evident downtrend of the proportion of grade 2 was observed in chronological order. Conversely, the diagnostic ratio of grade 1 (8.0%-14.5%) and grade 3 (27.9%-32.3%) experienced a gradual rise. EGFR mutation was more frequently detected in grade 2 (77.5%) and grade 1 (69.7%) IPA than grade 3 (53.7%, p < 0.001), whereas the mutation rates of KRAS, BRAF, ALK, and ROS1 were higher in grade 3 IPA. More importantly, the rate of EGFR mutation gradually fell as the proportion of high-grade components increased, to 24.3% in IPA with more than 90% high-grade components. Conclusions The grading system for IPA could be applied to stratify patients with different clinicopathological and genotypic features in a real diagnostic scenario.

Abstract
The hospitality and tourism sector has long played a significant role in Australia's economy, especially in regional areas. Due to the onslaught of COVID-19, numerous businesses have experienced lockdowns, restrictions, and closures due to the fact that people's activity in restaurants, shopping centers, and recreational destinations was restricted, and many other places went into hibernation. After about 2 years since the outbreak, businesses in this sector are gradually starting to reopen and revitalize themselves, but in order to have better decision support about the future of this sector, thus being able to plan, businesses are suffering from an effective analytics solution due to the lack of broken data trends. Starting from fresh day-to-day real-time big data, the study aims to develop a new data analytics model, adopting the design science research methodology, which can provide invaluable options and techniques to make prediction easier from immediate past datasets. This study introduces an innovative design artifact as a big data solution for hospitality managers to utilize analytics for predictive strategic decision-making in post-COVID situation. The artifact can also be generalized for other sectors with tailoring aspects which are subject to further studies. The proposed artifact is then compared with other design artifacts related to big data solutions where it outperforms them in terms of comprehensiveness. The proposed artifact also shows promises for primarily available UGC in managers' decision support aids.

Abstract
Mangrove forests inhabit tropical or subtropical intertidal zones and have remarkable abilities in coastline protection. Kandelia obovata is considered the most cold-tolerant mangrove species and has been widely transplanted to the north subtropical zone of China for ecological restoration. However, the physiological and molecular mechanisms of K. obovata under colder climate was still unclear. Here, we manipulated the typical climate of cold waves in the north subtropical zone with cycles of cold/recovery and analyzed the physiological and transcriptomic responses of seedlings. We found that both physiological traits and gene expression profiles differed between the first and later cold waves, indicating K. obovata seedlings were acclimated by the first cold experience and prepared for latter cold waves. 1,135 cold acclimation-related genes (CARGs) were revealed, related to calcium signaling, cell wall modification, and post-translational modifications of ubiquitination pathways. We identified the roles of CBFs and CBF-independent transcription factors (ZATs and CZF1s) in regulating the expression of CARGs, suggesting both CBF-dependent and CBF- independent pathways functioned in the cold acclimation of K. obovata. Finally, we proposed a molecular mechanism of K. obovata cold acclimation with several key CARGs and transcriptional factors involved. Our experiments reveal strategies of K. obovata coping with cold environments and provide prospects for mangrove rehabilitation and management.

Abstract
Although the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) has often been highlighted in strategic agility and decision outcomes, whether it helps firms strengthen their competitiveness and the means firms use to achieve such competitiveness are still under-researched. Our research thus joins the recent discussion on digitalization trends and strategic responses to COVID-19 to better understand how firms strengthen their competitiveness during such challenging times. Namely, this study incorporates the strategic responses to COVID-19 into the technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework by investigating the impacts of different configurations of TOE contexts and strategic responses on a firm's competitive advantage. We used fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to investigate how TOE contexts and strategic responses integrate into configurations and impact a firm's competiveness. By applying a configurational approach with data from 514 exporting firms in China, we find a strong indication of the equifinality of different strategies, indicating that multiple strategic paths can be used to respond to crises. The adoption of AI, while important, is not sufficient to enhance a firm's competitiveness. Our results stress the significance of data quality, organizational resources and capabilities, and digital business model innovation for AI adoption. We also identify successful strategic paths of AI adoption aversion and ambidextrous strategies. The findings have practical implications for firms seeking effective strategies to respond to future crises and sustain their competitive advantages.

Abstract
Moderate and deep sedation can effectively relieve or eliminate the pain and body discomfort during wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients, relieve anxiety, agitation, and even delirium of the children, reduce the metabolic rate of the children, make them in a quiet, comfortable, and cooperative state, which is conducive to the smooth completion of dressing change. This paper summarized the three aspects of moderate and deep sedation in pediatric burn patients, including the overview, main points of implementation, and effects, and further introduced the moderate and deep sedation medication regimens for different routes of administration, as well as the content of evaluation and monitoring. Suggestions on the prevention and management of related complications and the management of moderate and deep sedation implementation procedures were put forward, in order to provide references for the development of moderate and deep sedation for wound dressing change in pediatric burn patients in China.

Abstract
Background There is a risk of over investigation and delayed treatment in the work up of solid nodules. Thus, the aim of our study was to develop and validate an integrated model that estimates the malignant risk for indeterminate pulmonary solid nodules (IPSNs). Methods Patients included in this study with IPSNs who was diagnosed malignant or benign by histopathology. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to build integrated model based on clinical, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and radiomics features. The performance of the integrated model was estimated by applying receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, and tested in different nodules size and intermediate risk IPSNs. Net reclassification index (NRI) was applied to quantify the additional benefit derived from the integrated model. Results The integrated model yielded areas under the ROC curves (AUCs) of 0.83 and 0.76 in internal and external set, respectively, outperforming CTCs (0.70, P=0.001; 0.68, P=0.128), the Mayo clinical model (0.68, P<0.001; 0.55, P=0.007), the and radiomics model (0.72, P=0.002; 0.67, P=0.050) in both validation sets. Robust performance with high sensitivity up to 98% was also maintained in IPSNs with different solid size and intermediate risk probability. The performance of the integrated model was comparable with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET-CT) examination (P=0.308) among the participants with established PET-CT records. NRI demonstrated that the integrated model provided net reclassification of at least 10% on the external validation set compared with single CTCs test. Conclusions The integrated model could complement conventional risk models to improve the diagnosis of IPSNs, which is not inferior to PET-CT and could help to guide clinician's decision-making on clinically specific population.

Abstract
This investigation explores whether sustainable finance and renewable energy could facilitate U.S. carbon neutrality. We perform the time-varying parameter-stochastic volatility-vector auto-regression (TVP-SV-VAR) model to obtain the changing relations among U.S. sustainable finance (SF), renewable energy (RE) and carbon dioxide emission (CO2). The empirical outcomes reveal a short-term negative effect from RE to CO2, indicating that renewable energy consumption could promote U.S. carbon neutrality. This effect is asymmetrical, and it could be observed that RE increase has a greater effect on CO2 than RE reduction. Also, the development of sustainable finance could facilitate U.S. carbon neutrality, and the direct impact is longer and more significant than RE, but the indirect effect of SF on CO2 by influencing RE is hysteretic. Besides, the asymmetric effect reveals that the negative direct impact of SF increase on CO2 is smaller than SF reduction, and the latter's indirect effect is more rapid than the former. Against the backdrop of global warming and frequent extreme weather, the above conclusions have meaningful practical applications for the U.S. to achieve carbon neutrality targets through developing sustainable finance and renewable energy.

Abstract
Background This study, based on multicentre cohorts, aims to utilize computed tomography (CT) images to construct a deep learning model for predicting major pathological response (MPR) to neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and further explore the biological basis under its prediction. Methods 274 patients undergoing curative surgery after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy for NSCLC at 4 centres from January 2019 to December 2021 were included and divided into a training cohort, an internal validation cohort, and an external validation cohort. ShuffleNetV2x05-based features of the primary tumour on the CT scans within the 2 weeks preceding neoadjuvant administration were employed to develop a deep learning score for distinguishing MPR and non-MPR. To reveal the underlying biological basis of the deep learning score, a genetic analysis was conducted based on 25 patients with RNA-sequencing data. Findings MPR was achieved in 54.0% (n = 148) patients. The area under the curve (AUC) of the deep learning score to predict MPR was 0.73 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.58–0.86) and 0.72 (95% CI: 0.58–0.85) in the internal validation and external validation cohorts, respectively. After integrating the clinical characteristic into the deep learning score, the combined model achieved satisfactory performance in the internal validation (AUC: 0.77, 95% CI: 0.64–0.89) and external validation cohorts (AUC: 0.75, 95% CI: 0.62–0.87). In the biological basis exploration for the deep learning score, a high deep learning score was associated with the downregulation of pathways mediating tumour proliferation and the promotion of antitumour immune cell infiltration in the microenvironment. Interpretation The proposed deep learning model could effectively predict MPR in NSCLC patients treated with neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. Abstract
Background Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with additional nodule(s) located in the same lobe or ipsilateral different lobe were designated as T3 and T4, respectively, which was merely defined by anatomical location of additional nodule(s), regardless of other prognostic factors. Methods A total of 4711 patients with T1-4, N0-2, M0 NSCLC undergoing complete resection were identified between 2009 and 2014, including 145 patients with additional nodule(s) in the same lobe (T3-Add) and 174 patients with additional tumor nodule(s) in ipsilateral different lobe (T4-Add). Overall survival (OS) was compared using multivariable Cox regression models and propensity score matching analysis (PSM). Results T3-Add patients [T3-Add versus T3, hazard ratio (HR), 0.695; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.528-0.915; p = 0.009] and comparable OS with T2b patients through multivariable Cox analysis, and further validated by PSM. T4-Add patients carried a wide spectrum of prognosis, and the largest diameter of single tumor was screened out as the most effective indicator for distinguishing prognosis. T4-Add (⩽3 cm) patients had better OS than T4 patients [T4-Add (⩽3 cm) versus T4, HR, 0.629; 95% CI, 0.455-0.869; p = 0.005] and comparable OS with T3 patients. And T4-Add (>3 cm) patients had comparable OS with T4 patients. Conclusion NSCLC patients with additional nodule(s) in the same lobe and ipsilateral different lobe (maximum tumor diameter ⩽ 3 cm) should be further validated and considered restaging as T2b and T3 in the forthcoming 9th tumor, node, and metastasis staging system.

Abstract
Global warming has caused frequent heat waves worldwide. In order to respond to heat waves and enhance the public's protection abilities, Europe, the United States and other countries have extensively carried out research on heat-health early warning, and initially achieved good health benefits based on a heat-health early warning system. However, the research on heat-health early warning is still limited in China, especially on health risks at the population level. Based on evidence-based thinking, our study combs the research progress of heat-health early warning from four aspects: early warning indicators, early warning models, early warning thresholds, and early warning ranks, and clarifies the key points of the construction of heat-health early warning models and rank schemes, in order to provide early warning technology for the rapid development of national heat-heath early warning in China.

Introduction
Recent clinical trials of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) have observed varying patient profiles by ejection fraction (EF), with attenuation of treatment benefits as EF increases. In routine clinical practice, the degree to which patients hospitalized for HF with EF≥60% may differ from those with lower EF is unknown.
Purpose
To compare patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and clinical outcomes across the range of EF among patients hospitalized for HFpEF.
Methods
Using the Humedica electronic medical records database between Jan 2010 and Dec 2020, patients hospitalized for a primary diagnosis of HF with EF>40% and who were haemodynamically stable at admission, without concurrent acute coronary syndrome or end-stage renal disease, and treated with intravenous (IV) diuretic agents within 48 h of admission were identified. Patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and clinical outcomes were compared by EF ranges of 41–49%, 50–59%, and ≥60%.
Results
Of 47,026 patients hospitalized with HFpEF, 6,335 (13%) had EF 41–49%, 18,603 (40%) had EF 50–59%, and 22,088 (47%) had EF≥60%. Across all 3 groups, patients were similar with respect to age (median 77 years for each group), race (83–84% White, 12–13% Black), systolic blood pressure (137–138 mmHg at admission), and eGFR (63–64 mL/min/1.73 m2 at admission). With progressively higher EF group, the proportion of women increased (45% vs 54% vs 65%) and median NT-proBNP decreased (4,221 vs 2,945 vs 2,234 pg/mL). Patients with EF ≥60% had the lowest rates of coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation, and the highest rates of chronic pulmonary disease (Figure 1, Panel A). Discharge medications were generally similar, with exception of less beta-blocker use and more calcium channel blocker use among those with EF ≥60% (Figure 1, Panel B). Discharge use of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor and sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor therapies were each <1% in all groups. Hospital length of stay (median 4 days for each group) and in-hospital mortality (1.1–1.3%) were similar across groups, but rates of in-hospital acute respiratory failure were higher among patients with EF ≥60% (27% vs 230-25% for lower EF groups). Rates of 30-day and 12-month post-discharge clinical events were high irrespective of EF, without meaningful differences between groups (Figure 2).
Conclusion
In a contemporary real-world population of US patients hospitalized for HF with EF >40%, nearly half had an EF≥60%. While clinical profiles and discharge medications varied, post-discharge outcomes were similarly poor irrespective of EF. There remain important opportunities to improve the care and outcomes for patients with HF across the range of preserved ejection fraction.

Background
While numerous publications have estimated the prevalence of diagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), none have quantified the real-world proportion of obstructive and non-obstructive HCM using nationally representative data sources in any European countries.
Purpose
To estimate the prevalence of diagnosed HCM and its subtypes in the UK and Germany.
Methods
Patients with HCM were identified in the UK from 01 Apr 2009 to 30 Oct 2020 and Germany from 2011 to 2019. UK patients with HCM were identified using electronic health records from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) primary care data linked with Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) secondary care data using ICD-10 (I42.1, I42.2), Read, Medcode, SNOMED, and OPCS codes. German patients with HCM were identified using a nationally representative administrative claims data pool (WIG2 Benchmark database) from several German Statutory Health Insurance (SHI)-insurances using ICD-10 and OPS codes. Obstructive HCM was identified as any obstructive HCM diagnosis, any HCM diagnosis with septal reduction therapy, and any HCM diagnosis and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO; not in German claims data). Non-obstructive HCM was any non-obstructive or unspecified HCM diagnosis without evidence of any obstructive HCM. Annual prevalence was calculated for each year in the respective study periods and average annual prevalence across the study period.
Results
The average annual prevalence rate of HCM was 4.15/10,000 in the UK and 8.61/10,000 in Germany, while the average annual prevalence rate of obstructive HCM was 2.84/10,000 in the UK and 4.18/10,000 in Germany (Table). The proportion of HCM that was obstructive HCM was 68% in the UK and 49% in Germany. The prevalence rates of diagnosed HCM and obstructive HCM tended to increase over time (Figure).
Conclusion
The prevalence of HCM, obstructive HCM and the proportion of HCM that is obstructive varied between the UK and Germany. The prevalence of HCM was generally consistent with previously published estimates. Although there are limitations with coding in administrative data, it is important to differentiate obstructive HCM from non-obstructive HCM given their unique treatments and disease progression and management, especially since at least 49–68% of HCM is obstructive.

Abstract
The human microbiome plays an important role in our health and identifying factors associated with microbiome composition provides insights into inherent disease mechanisms. By amplifying and sequencing the marker genes in high-throughput sequencing, with highly similar sequences binned together, we obtain operational taxonomic units (OTUs) profiles for each subject. Due to the high-dimensionality and nonnormality features of the OTUs, the measure of diversity is introduced as a summarization at the microbial community level, including the distance-based beta-diversity between individuals. Analyses of such between-subject attributes are not amenable to the predominant within-subject-based statistical paradigm, such as t-tests and linear regression. In this paper, we propose a new approach to model beta-diversity as a response within a regression setting by utilizing the functional response models (FRMs), a class of semiparametric models for between- as well as within-subject attributes. The new approach not only addresses limitations of current methods for beta-diversity with cross-sectional data, but also provides a premise for extending the approach to longitudinal and other clustered data in the future. The proposed approach is illustrated with both real and simulated data.

Abstract
Most ocular diseases observed with cataract, chlamydia trachomatis, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis, have their associations with environmental exposures, lifestyle, and habits, making their distribution has certain temporal and spatial features based essentially on epidemiology. Spatial epidemiology focuses on the use of geographic information systems (GIS), global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), and spatial analysis to map spatial distribution as well as change the tendency of diseases and investigate the health services status of populations. Recently, the spatial epidemic approach has been applied in the field of ophthalmology, which provides many valuable key messages on ocular disease prevention and control. This work briefly reviewed the context of spatial epidemiology and summarized its progress in the analysis of spatiotemporal distribution, non-monitoring area data estimation, influencing factors of ocular diseases, and allocation and utilization of eye health resources, to provide references for its application in the prevention and control of ocular diseases in the future.

[Effectiveness, safety and cost of urinary follicle stimulating hormone in controlled ovarian stimulation in China: multi-center retrospective cohort study of 102 061 in vitro fertilization cycles]. Abstract
Objective: To explore the effectiveness, safety and cost between urinary follicle stimulating hormone (uFSH) and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) in controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in China. Methods: Data were collected from 16 reproductive centers in China covering oocytes collection time from May 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018. Eligible patients were over 18 years old, adopting COS with uFSH (uFSH group) or rFSH (rFSH group) as start gonadotropins (Gn), and using in vitro fertilization (IVF) and (or) intracytoplasmic sperm injection for fertilisation, excluding frozen embryo recovery cycle. Generalised estimating equation was used to address the violation of independency assumption between cycles due to multiple IVF cycles for one person and clustering nature of cycles carried out within one center. Controlling variables included age, body mass index, anti-Müllerian hormone level, cause of infertility, ovulation protocol, type of fertilisation, number of embryos transferred, number of days of Gn use. Results: Totally 102 061 cycles met eligibility criteria and were included in the analyses. In terms of effectiveness, after controlling relevant unbalanced baseline characteristics, compared with rFSH group, the high oocyte retrieval (>15 oocytes was considered high retrieval) rate of uFSH group significantly decreased in gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist protocol (OR=0.642, P<0.01) and in gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist protocol (OR=0.556, P=0.001), but the clinical pregnancy rate per transfer cycle and the live birth rate per transfer cycle significantly increased (OR=1.179, OR=1.169, both P<0.01) in both agonist and antagonist protocols. For safety, multiple analysis result demonstrated that in the agonist protocol, compared with rFSH group, the incidence of moderate to severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome of uFSH group significantly decreased (OR=0.644, P=0.002). The differences in ectopic pregnancy rate and multiple pregnancy rate between the uFSH and rFSH groups were not significant (P=0.890, P=0.470) in all patients. In terms of cost, compared with rFSH group, the uFSH group had lower total Gn costs for each patient (P<0.01). Conclusion: For patients who underwent COS, uFSH has better safety, and economic profiles over rFSH in China.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study intends to appraise the feasibility of double sleeve lobectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in central non-small-cell lung cancer with bronchovascular aggression. METHODS This retrospective study included non-small-cell lung cancer patients who received double sleeve lobectomy from January 2014 to June 2020. Patients were divided into 2 groups: the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group and the non-neoadjuvant chemotherapy group. Demographic data and perioperative outcomes were compared between these 2 groups. RESULTS Of the 110 patients who received double sleeve lobectomy during this period, 35 patients (31.8%) received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Compared with the non-neoadjuvant chemotherapy group, patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy were associated with younger age (P = 0.026), smaller pathologic tumour size (P = 0.005), higher forced expiratory volume in 1 s (P = 0.007), higher forced expiratory volume in 1 s of predicted value (P = 0.005) and higher clinical stage (P < 0.001). In the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group, 18 patients (51.4%) attained a partial response and 17 patients (48.6%) achieved stable disease. The postoperative hospital stays (P = 0.042) and chest tube drainage duration (P = 0.030) were longer in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy group and other perioperative performances were similar between these 2 groups. No statistically significant difference was reported in postoperative complications and mortality between these 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS The intraoperative performance and postoperative outcomes of double sleeve lobectomy following neoadjuvant chemotherapy were similar to direct surgery, indicating that double sleeve lobectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy is feasible and safe in central lung cancer involving both the pulmonary artery and bronchus.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) are often in critical condition and have a high mortality rate. Accurately predicting the survival probability of ICU patients is beneficial to timely care and prioritizing medical resources to improve the overall patient population survival. Models developed by deep learning (DL) algorithms show good performance on many models. However, few DL algorithms have been validated in the dimension of survival time or compared with traditional algorithms. METHODS Variables from the Early Warning Score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment Score, Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II, and APACHE IV models were selected for model development. The Cox regression, random survival forest (RSF), and DL methods were used to develop prediction models for the survival probability of ICU patients. The prediction performance was independently evaluated in the MIMIC-III Clinical Database (MIMIC-III), the eICU Collaborative Research Database (eICU), and Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital Database (SPH). RESULTS Forty variables were collected in total for model development. 83 943 participants from 3 databases were included in the study. The New-DL model accurately stratified patients into different survival probability groups with a C-index of >0.7 in the MIMIC-III, eICU, and SPH, performing better than the other models. The calibration curves of the models at 3 and 10 days indicated that the prediction performance was good. A user-friendly interface was developed to enable the model's convenience. CONCLUSIONS Compared with traditional algorithms, DL algorithms are more accurate in predicting the survival probability during ICU hospitalization. This novel model can provide reliable, individualized survival probability prediction.

Abstract
Background In mammals, transitioning from sole milk uptake to the intake of solid feed results in dramatic developmental changes in intestinal function and immunological status. In fact, weaning stress is often accompanied by intestinal inflammatory processes. To develop effective intervention strategies, it is necessary to characterize the developmental pattern and immune response that occurs on weaning, as we have done in this study for piglets. Results To comprehensively delineate cell heterogeneity in ileum tissues and the underlying mechanisms in weaning-induced intestinal inflammation of piglets, we have analyzed the transcriptomes of 42,149 cells from ileum mucosa of normally suckling and post-weaned piglets. There were 31 cell subtypes including epithelial, stromal, and immune cells. A bifurcating trajectory was inferred to separate secretory and absorptive lineages. Integrated cross-species datasets showed well-conserved cellular architectures and transcription signatures between human and pig. Comparative analyses of cellular components, cell–cell communications, and molecular states revealed that T cell subpopulations were significantly altered in weaned piglets. We found that T helper (Th) 17 functional plasticity across changes in the cytokine milieu and the enrichment of granzyme B (GZMB)-expressing cytotoxic T cells potentially exacerbate mucosal inflammation via mitochondrial dysfunction in epithelial cells. Conclusions Our work has elucidated the single-cell molecular characteristics of the piglet ileum before and after weaning. We have provided an atlas that portrays the landscape of the intestinal pathophysiological inflammatory process associated with weaning, finding a level of conservation between human and pig that support the use of piglets as a model for human infants. Abstract
Ferroptosis, a newly identified, iron-dependent type of programmed cell death, is active in several diseases, such as heart disease, brain damage, and cancer. Its main characteristics commonly involve excess iron accumulation, elevated lipid peroxides and reactive oxygen species, and reduced levels of glutathione and glutathione peroxidase 4 levels. The effects of ferroptosis in eye diseases cannot be underestimated, with ferroptosis becoming a research target in ocular disorders and emerging evidence from a series of in vivo and in vitro researches into ferroptosis revealing its role in eye conditions. However, no report provides comprehensive information on the pathophysiology of ferroptosis in eye diseases and its possible treatments. In the current review, we present an up-to-date overview of ferroptosis biology and its involvement in the pathological processes of ocular diseases. Furthermore, we pose several outstanding questions and areas for future research in this topic. We deem ferroptosis-associated cell death a pivotal new field of scientific study in ocular diseases and consider it a new therapeutic target in the treatment of some eye disorders.

Abstract
To obtain an efficient and low-cost adsorbent for the Sb(V) removal in Sb(V)-contaminated water, a novel composite manganese oxide/oxyhydroxide (CMO) was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal synthesis method. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized via scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area, Fourier transform infrared, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses. The results revealed that the as-prepared CMO adsorbent possessed a porous structure consisting of Mn3O4 nanoparticles and MnOOH nanorods. Batch experiments showed that the adsorption behaviours were well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, reaching the maximum adsorption capacity of 119.63 mg/g at 25 °C. The application of CMO adsorbent showed that the Sb(V) removal efficiency in 6.24 L Sb(V)-containing water with a concentration of 3.6 mg/L was more than 90%. The reusability of CMO adsorbent demonstrated that the Sb(V) removal efficiency was still more than 80% even after five times of regeneration. The adsorption mechanism for Sb(V) can be described as ligand exchange between hydroxyl groups on the adsorbent surface and hydroxyl groups in Sb(OH)6- molecules by forming inner-sphere complexes. Those results suggested that the CMO adsorbent can be considered as a potential adsorbent to remove Sb(V) from contaminated water.

Abstract
New strategies to rapidly develop broad-spectrum antiviral therapies are urgently required for emerging and re-emerging viruses. Host-targeting antivirals (HTAs) that target the universal host factors necessary for viral replication are the most promising approach, with broad-spectrum, foresighted function, and low resistance. We and others recently identified that host dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) is one of the universal host factors essential for the replication of many acute-infectious viruses. DHODH is a rate-limiting enzyme catalyzing the fourth step in de novo pyrimidine synthesis. Therefore, it has also been developed as a therapeutic target for many diseases relying on cellular pyrimidine resources, such as cancers, autoimmune diseases, and viral or bacterial infections. Significantly, the successful use of DHODH inhibitors (DHODHi) against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection further supports the application prospects. This review focuses on the advantages of HTAs and the antiviral effects of DHODHi with clinical applications. The multiple functions of DHODHi in inhibiting viral replication, stimulating ISGs expression, and suppressing cytokine storms make DHODHi a potent strategy against viral infection.

Abstract
Wild pigs usually showed high tolerance and resistance to several diseases in the wild environment, suggesting that the gut bacteria of wild pigs could be a good source for discovering potential probiotic strains. In our study, wild pig feces were sequenced and showed a higher relative abundance of the genus Lactobacillus (43.61% vs. 2.01%) than that in the domestic pig. A total of 11 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains including two L. rhamnosus, six L. mucosae, one L. fermentum, one L. delbrueckii, and one Enterococcus faecalis species were isolated. To investigate the synergistic effects of mixed probiotics strains, the mixture of 11 LAB strains from an intestinal ecology system was orally administrated in mice for 3 weeks, then the mice were challenged with Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 (2 × 109 CFU) and euthanized after challenge. Mice administrated with LAB strains showed higher (p < 0.05) LAB counts in feces and ileum. Moreover, alterations of specific bacterial genera occurred, including the higher (p < 0.05) relative abundance of Butyricicoccus and Clostridium IV and the lower (p < 0.05) abundance of Enterorhabdus in mice fed with mixed LAB strains. Mice challenged with Escherichia coli showed vacuolization of the liver, lower GSH in serum, and lower villus to the crypt proportion and Claudin-3 level in the gut. In contrast, administration of mixed LAB strains attenuated inflammation of the liver and gut, especially the lowered IL-6 and IL-1β levels (p < 0.05) in the gut. Our study highlighted the importance of gut bacterial diversity and the immunomodulation effects of LAB strains mixture from wild pig in gut health.
