Congenital eccrine nevus on the neck

Eccrine nevus (EN) is a very rare hamartoma of the skin and with varying clinical manifestations. Histologically, these neoplasms present as a proliferation of normally structured eccrine sweat glands in the dermis. There have been no more than 20 cases previously have been reported in the English literature. Herein we report a 25-year-old man with eccrine nevus on the neck. To our best knowledge, this is the first case that the lesion affecting the neck.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum: a rare tumor with a favorable prognosis

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP) is a rare adenexal carcinoma with only 21 cases reported in the literature. Most patients describe a long-standing mass with recent change, supporting the idea that SCACP arises from malignant transformation of pre-existing syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP). Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum is generally treated with wide surgical excision of the lesion and patients do exceeding well and require no systemic therapy.

A novel case of linear syringomatous hamartoma

A 4-year-old girl presented with a linear, indurated area of dusky erythema and hyperpigmentation down the left leg, present since birth. Histology suggested syringomata. The clinical course and appearances suggest a novel entity for which we have coined the term 'linear syringomatous hamartoma'.

Congenital blaschkoid eccrine spiradenoma on the face

Eccrine spiradenoma is an uncommon tumour of the sweat gland(s) and generally occurs as a solitary small painful nodule. Very rarely, it may present as multiple tumours arranged in a linear/blaschkoid pattern. An 8-year-old girl had many papulonodular lesions, arranged in a linear pattern on the left half of the face, involving the forehead and lateral side of the nose. The lesions were along Blaschko's lines. Lesions were reported to be present at birth; no family member had similar lesion(s), either in solitary or multiple form. Histopathologic examination of a biopsy specimen revealed characteristic features of eccrine spiradenoma. The case is reported because of the rare occurrence of this presentation.

Congenital apocrine hamartoma: an unusual clinical variant of organoid nevus with apocrine differentiation

Congenital apocrine hamartomas are rare tumors of the skin composed of mature apocrine glands in the papillary and reticular dermis. Several cases have been reported in the literature but few were of uniform clinical appearance. The term apocrine nevus has been used interchangeably with apocrine hamartoma in the literature, however, based on their distinctive morphologies we believe they are different entities. We describe a 7-year-old girl with a congenital apocrine hamartoma of the left cheek. A stained biopsy specimen from the lesion revealed large mature apocrine glands with decapitation secretion in the dermis. The presence of periodic acid-Schiff-positive, diastase-resistant granular material in the apical cytoplasm of some secretory cells helped differentiate these as apocrine glands. We think this lesion may represent a form of organoid nevus with pure apocrine differentiation.

Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma

This is the case of a 13 year-old female evaluated for a congenital skin lesion on the left buttock. Physical examination revealed a well-defined light brown patch with a 4mm papule on the center. A skin biopsy revealed an increased number of eccrine glands associated to a proliferation of vascular channels, particularly capillaries. These findings are consistent with a diagnosis of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma.

Congenital hemangioma of eccrine sweat glands

We present six patients with congenital hemangioma of eccrine sweat glands. In every one the lesion was congenital, clinically angiomatous, painless, and nonsweating, with progressive involution over months. Histologically all specimens showed many dilated capillaries with prominent endothelial cells associated with the eccrine sweat gland coils.

Congenital eccrine angiomatous hamartoma

A case of congenital eccrine angiomatous hamartoma of the foot in a three-month-old girl is presented. Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a benign tumoral lesion that combines the proliferation of multiple benign eccrine structures and angiomatous channels. We review the literature on the subject.

Nevus comedonicus: case report and brief review of the literature

We report extensive nevus comedonicus in a female patient that involved half of her body entirely, with infected cystic lesions as well as typical scars, limited by the midline. The lesions worsened at the beginning of puberty. A brief review of the literature highlights the histopathologic, etiopathogenic, and therapeutic aspects.

Congenital spiradenoma

A case of an adenomatous sweat gland hamartoma present since birth is described. The histological and ultrastructural findings were similar to those of spiradenoma, and carcinoembryonic antigen, usually present in cutaneous sweat gland tumors, was also demonstrated. Sweat gland nevi are rare, and a spiradenomatous variant has not been previously documented.

Porokeratotic eccrine ostial and dermal duct nevus

A 6-year-old girl with congenital porokeratotic eccrine ostial and dermal duct nevus involving the palmoplantar surfaces (ie, the back of the hands and feet), the limbs, the neck, and the axillae is described. The clinical and histopathologic findings are presented. This entity should be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis of linear keratotic cutaneous eruptions.

Congenital papillated apocrine cystadenoma: a mixed form of hidrocystoma, hidradenoma papilliferum, and syringocystadenoma papilliferum

Two small congenital tumors on the left thigh of an 8-year-old boy were excised. Their histologic picture was peculiar in that they presented features in common with apocrine hidrocystoma, syringocystadenoma papilliferum, and hidradenoma papilliferum.

Comedo naevus of the palm--a sweat duct naevus?

A 9-year-old boy is described with keratotic pits on the left palm, present since birth, which clinically resembled those seen in comedo naevus. Histology and scanning electron microscopy of skin surface replicas showed the lesions to be large, abnormal sweat ducts. It is suggested that comedo naevi are not necessarily pilosebaceous in origin and that in our case the term sweat duct naevus may be more appropriate.
