Abstract
Refugees arrive in Denmark by different paths and canals. In some municipalities all refugees are offered a systematic health assessment when they receive a residence permit. The conducted assessments in Copenhagen and Aarhus have resulted in five studies and this review sums up some of the important results. Vitamin-D deficiencies, anaemia, latent tuberculosis, and symptoms of PTSD are just some of the most frequent conditions seen in newly arrived refugees. A health assessment upon resettlement has several important purposes and should be offered to all newly arrived refugees in Denmark.

Abstract
Due to elevated protein content, the food-industry bio-wastes are promising feedstock to produce hierarchical (micro-mesoporous) carbonaceous materials with the intended use as electrodes in the energy storage solutions. However, the high initial water content, makes their direct activation through high-temperature processes costineffective due to significant heat requirements. In this study, the influence of pretreatment with hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) on wet food-industry bio-wastes, further pyrolysed, was investigated. Selected wastes (brewer's spent grains, spent coffee grains and spent sugar beets) were pre-treated by HTC at 180 °C or 240 °C, and then pyrolysed at 500 °C or 700 °C. Obtained materials were examined using elemental analysis, gas adsorption (N2 and CO2) and FT-IR. Besides minor differences caused by the bio-composition of wastes, the general trends were similar for feedstock. The pre-treatment had a beneficial influence on the properties of all wastes. The HTC at 180 °C and pyrolysis at 700 °C for all wastes show the most promising total specific surface area 560 ± 10 m2/g and accessible specific surface area 96 m2/g. Those conditions simultaneously did not reduce the total solid yield in comparison to the one-step process. The pre-treatment at 240 °C led to elevated nitrogen incorporation in the carbonaceous structure compared to HTC at 180 °C. However, it formed a hierarchical structure that was not stable for the thermal treatment. Study proves the HTC pre-treatment at 180 °C is beneficial for the conversion of food-industry bio-wastes into hierarchical carbonaceous material for their use in the energy storage systems application.

Abstract
AIM To describe the findings and recommendations of the general health assessment (GHA) of newly resettled refugee children in Denmark. METHODS This cross-sectional study included children (aged <18 years) undergoing GHA from 2017 to 2019 at a university hospital Section of Immigrant Medicine. GHA was offered to all refugees newly resettled in the Municipality of Copenhagen. It comprised of a structured questionnaire, clinical examination, blood test and recommendations. RESULTS In the study period, 107 children were eligible, 100 children had a GHA performed and of whom all were included in the study. Trauma was reported in 61% (n = 61/100) of children. The median duration of the asylum-seeking process was 18 months (IQR: 8-24), and the highest number of relocations was nine. Latent tuberculosis (n = 2/100 [2%]) was the only infectious disease diagnosed. Specific recommendations for follow-up were frequent and included referral to specialist departments (n = 26/100 [26%]), suggestions for family doctor (n = 96/100 [96%]) and for municipality (n = 62/100 [62%]). CONCLUSION Self-reported trauma was frequent among 100 newly resettled refugee children. For most children, the asylum process was protracted and included several relocations. Specific follow-up recommendations were given to the vast majority. GHA may contribute to improving health, which could possibly support integration for the child and family.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Research has told us little about the demographics of individuals entering substance use programs in New Orleans, Louisiana, especially women accessing treatment programs. Considering that New Orleans is a predominantly Black city and both substance use treatment and research have historically left out Black patients, this study evaluates the age, race, insurance status, education level, and substance of choice for patients entering Grace House Rehabilitation Center, an all women nonprofit substance use treatment program in New Orleans, Louisiana. METHODS Since 2013, Tulane School of Medicine students have held weekly primary care clinics at Grace House. This study used the clinic's patients' handwritten intake forms to collect demographic variables between 2013 and 2019. The study then evaluated the data using descriptive statistical analysis. RESULTS The study analyzed 743 patient charts. We found that 78.4% of women admitted to Grace House were white (n = 627), and 14.5% of women were Black (n = 1160). The study excluded all other racial and ethnic groups due to the groups' small sample size. The average age at admittance was 34.7 years for both white and Black women; however, the average age for Black women was 42 years old. The 743 women studied reported the use of 1123 unique substances. While more than half of both populations used only one type of substance, Black women more commonly used only one substance. CONCLUSION New Orleans is a predominantly Black community, yet young Black women are largely missing from the patient population that we studied. While multiple reasons exist for the lack of Black women in this population, Black substance-using women are clearly left out of the life-saving treatment that they deserve. The medical community must investigate further to make genuine, impactful changes to how substance use treatment is accessed by all minority groups, but especially Black women.

Abstract
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is now well-known to reduce patients' health-related quality of life. However, data describing which signs and symptoms patients and physicians perceive as having the greatest impact are limited, as is understanding the full effects of ITP treatments. I-WISh (ITP World Impact Survey) was an exploratory, cross-sectional survey designed to establish the multifaceted impact of ITP, and its treatments, on patients' lives. It focused on perceptions of 1507 patients and 472 physicians from 13 countries regarding diagnostic pathway, frequency and severity of signs and symptoms, and treatment use. Twenty-two percent of patients experienced delayed diagnosis (caused by several factors), 73% of whom felt anxious as a result. Patients rated fatigue among the most frequent, severe symptom associated with ITP at diagnosis (58% most frequent; 73% most severe), although physicians assigned it lower priority (30%). Fatigue was one of the few symptoms persisting at survey completion (50% and 65%, respectively) and was the top symptom patients wanted resolved (46%). Participating physicians were experienced at treating ITP, thereby recognizing the need to limit corticosteroid use to newly-diagnosed or first-relapse patients and espoused increased use of thrombopoietin receptor agonists and anti-CD20 after relapse in patients with persistent/chronic disease. Patient and physicians were largely aligned on diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment use. I-WISh demonstrated that patients and physicians largely align on overall ITP symptom burden, with certain differences, for example, fatigue. Understanding the emotional and clinical toll of ITP on the patient will facilitate shared decision-management, setting and establishment of treatment goals and disease stage-appropriate treatment selection.

Abstract
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) has a substantial, multifaceted impact on patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Data describing which aspects of ITP physicians and patients perceive as having the greatest impact are limited. The ITP World Impact Survey (I-WISh) was a cross-sectional survey, including 1507 patients and 472 physicians, to establish the impact of ITP on HRQoL and productivity from patient and physician perspectives. Patients reported that ITP reduced their energy levels (85% of patients), capacity to exercise (77%), and limited their ability to perform daily tasks (75%). Eighty percent of physicians reported that ITP symptoms reduced patient HRQoL, with 66% reporting ITP-related fatigue substantially reduced patient HRQoL. Patients believed ITP had a substantial impact on emotional well-being (49%) and 63% worried their condition would worsen. Because of ITP, 49% of patients had already reduced, or seriously considered reducing their working hours, and 29% had considered terminating their employment. Thirty-six percent of patients employed at the time of the survey felt ITP decreased their work productivity, while 51% of patients with high/very high symptom burden reported that ITP affected their productivity. Note, I-WISh demonstrated substantive impact of ITP on patients' HRQoL both directly for patients and from the viewpoint of their physicians. Patients reported reduced energy levels, expressed fears their condition might worsen, and those who worked experienced reduced productivity. Physicians should be aware not only of platelet counts and bleeding but also the multi-dimensional impact of ITP on patients' lives as an integral component of disease management.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The municipality of Copenhagen offers general health assessment (GHA) to all newly resettled refugees, conducted at the Section of Immigrant Medicine, Hvidovre Hospital. This study described their disease burden and sociodemographic characteristics. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, all adult individuals assessed from 1 January 2017 to 30 January 2019 were included. Doctors performed the GHA, including a structured questionnaire, clinical examination and blood testing. RESULTS In total, 160 refugees were included. Few suffered from communicable diseases (e.g., 1% hepatitis B virus) or other somatic diseases (4% diabetes Type 2). However, deficiencies such as vitamin D deficiency (76%), vitamin B12 deficiency (31%) and anaemia (12%) were frequent. The majority reported headache (54%) or other pain (53%). Furthermore, signs of post-traumatic stress disorder were frequent (33%) and significantly associated with experience of torture, prison and persecution. CONCLUSIONS The population presented with pertinent health issues such as vitamin deficiencies, mental health issues and symptoms of pain. Few suffered from non-communicable or communicable diseases. Our results suggest that an offer of specialised services at municipality level for all newly resettled refugees may be beneficial. Furthermore, the study underlines the need for more research within the field of refugee health. FUNDING None. Abstract
OBJECTIVES Asylum-seeking minors are known to be at increased risk of physical and mental diseases compared to both native children and adult asylum seekers. We present a nationwide register-based study based on the health assessment of 7210 newly arrived minors in Danish asylum centres from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2015. METHODS We describe socio-demographic characteristics, trauma history and symptoms of physical and mental health. To associate the reporting of traumatic events and signs of anxiety or depression, we performed logistic regression analysis. RESULTS We found a high, albeit varying, prevalence of traumatic experiences, sleeping and eating problems, and head- and toothache. In the subgroup that was assessed for need of urgent support, more than two of every five minor scored above the threshold. In the subgroup examined by a doctor, one of every four had at least one abnormal finding. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of trauma and mental health symptoms and the association of the two were striking. Our findings underline that timely recognition and appropriate treatment of childhood traumas should be given high priority in the receiving communities.

Abstract
The increase in volume in bio-waste is inseparable from the production of biomass derived commodities. To reduce the use of conventional resources, the valorization of waste streams is gaining importance, and the valorisation of poultry litter fits perfectly into such scheme. This study shows a possible valorization of wet torrefied (300 °C) poultry litter (WTPL) through activation and its further use as a fertilizer, and as a wastewater micro-pollutant absorbent. The WTPL was activated thermally, physically (CO2) and chemically (KOH) at two different temperatures (600 °C and 800 °C) and 30 min residence time. The properties of ACs were evaluated based on results of the elemental and proximate analysis, suspension pH measurement, ICP-OES, FT-IR, N2 and CO2 adsorption and quantity of absorbed methylene blue (MB). The yields in thermal and physical ACs were comparable, but much higher than ACs from chemical activation (c.a. 50% and 15% at 600 °C and c.a. 47% and 6.5% at 800 °C). The thermal and physical ACs showed good suitability for application as a fertilizer due to their high macro- and micro-nutrients and low heavy metals concentration. Carbons activated with KOH proved their usefulness as wastewater pollutant absorbers through high MB's absorption (675.8 mg/g for 600 °C and 872.8 mg/g for 800 °C). Results state that the valorization of PL through activation is possible, and the selection of the activation method affects the final application of obtained material.

Abstract
Diagnosing tuberculosis (TB) in children and adolescents pose a diagnostic challenge due to sparse symptoms and clinical signs. Children are at a much higher risk than adults of progression to severe disease. In this review, the presentation and management of childhood TB is described. TB in children indicates ongoing transmission and is an indicator of failing disease control in the community. Tests suited to predict progression are warranted, and targeting latent infection is essential to achieve TB elimination. We recommend a low threshold for referral of children suspected of active or latent TB.

Abstract
This study has two targets: Studying the extraction of the initial protein content from brewer's spent grain and the impact of protein's extraction on the chemical-physical properties of produced hydrochars. The protein was extracted from brewer's spent grains using the pH-shifting method. The extracted protein was quantified and characterized by their amino acid profile. The hydrothermal treatment was applied at 190 °C and 220 °C for 0.5 h, 1 h, 2 h, and 4 h. The hydrochars and process water were collected and assayed. The hydrochar after protein extraction reveals the lowest yield to hydrochars (67.10-45.14%), higher C/N ratio (19.66-21.33) and lower ash content (1.52-1.72 wt%) compared to the hydrochar without extraction.

Background
Research data on the health status of newly arrived refugees is sparse. Newly arrived refugees and family reunified in The Municipality of Copenhagen has since 2016 been offered a general health assessment. These assessments are conducted by clinicians with expertise in refugee and migrant health from the Section of Immigrant Health. This study describes the sociodemographic characteristics and the burden of disease in this population.
Methods
In this cross-sectional study the population consists of adult patients examined January 2017 to February 2019. Clinicians performed the health assessment including a questionnaire regarding sociodemographics, medical history, symptoms, traumatic events during/before migration, a clinical examination and blood samples.
Results
The population had an equal presentation of males (N = 81) and females (N = 79) primarily from Syria (33%) and Iran (29%). The median age was 31,5 years (SD = 10,9). 67% had ≥8 years of schooling, while 11% had a maximum of 2 years. More than half had experienced war and 50% persecution. 76% suffered from Vitamin D deficiency, 31% of B12 deficiency and 12% of anemia. Few suffered from infectious and somatic diseases, yet many experiences symptoms such as pain (53%) and headaches (54%). 33% presented with symptoms of PTSD.
Conclusions
A high frequency of micronutrition deficiency was prevalent in the refugee group. Furthermore, many suffered from physical symptoms while very few had serious somatic issues. Numerous traumatic experiences were reported and 33% presented with symptoms of PTSD. The data is presumably a reflection of the healthy migrant bias.
Key messages
Despite refugees presumably being tested pre-entry and at holding level, they still suffer several health issues when granted asylum. Many newly arrived refugees suffer from micronutrition deficiency. These conditions are easily treated and could enhance the overall health of the individual.

At the same time, these coercive measures are not only heavily debated but also in most cases ethically questionable from the perspective of the ethics of human dignity. Usually, the ethical evaluation of freedom-depriving measures follows classical paradigms of medical ethics, such as the Principles of Biomedical Ethics by Beauchamp and Childress. To enrich the debate at this point, the ethical category of embodiment ("Leiblichkeit" ) is introduced and discussed after a short summary of the ethical problem at hand. The phenomenon of the living body that has received increasingly more attention in several sciences since the proclaimed "corporeal turn" enables new perspectives towards human dignity, freedom and deprivation of freedom: freedom-depriving measures do not take place in an invisible realm of ideas but are directly applied to the psychophysical unity that is the living body of a person. Thus, freedom-depriving measures are an intervention into the bodily autonomy of the human being and the personal freedom that is manifested in the living body. The concept of the living body ("Leib") that is applied here, signifies more than just a physical object and is especially apt to capture the (inter)subjective dimension that has to be taken into account here. Finally, it will have to be investigated whether the use of medicinal restraints represents an especially serious interference into the sphere of human embodiment. Once introduced into the debate on freedom-depriving measures in clinical care, the category of embodiment can warrant decisive new emphases.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Paediatric consultations require safe and unambiguous communication. For children and adolescents of foreign ethnic and language backgrounds, professional interpretation may be crucial to avoid misunderstandings and malpractice. Knowledge about language barriers in paediatric consultations in the Danish healthcare is sparse. METHODS The study was based on questionnaires completed by medical professionals at two paediatric emergency units in Copenhagen from March through June 2018. Questionnaire A, completed by doctors, addressed all patients aged 0-18 years regardless of the parents' first language and, if foreign, the presence of language barriers, whether clinical management was affected and use of professional interpretation. All doctors and nurses were asked to complete questionnaire B addressing their knowledge, experiences and practices with language barriers in their clinical work. RESULTS Language barriers were present in 37% of 136 non-native-Danish consultations. In 44% of these, clinical management was affected. Professional interpretation was not used in any consultations. Almost half of the medical professionals reported insufficient communication opportunities with non-native-Danish-speaking patients (48%). CONCLUSIONS Language barriers frequently affected communication and clinical decision-making in the two Danish paediatric emergency units studied. Even so, professional interpretation was not used. Further studies are needed to explore whether language is a barrier to equal health. FUNDING none. TRIAL REGISTRATION not relevant.

Abstract
Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) showed promising performance as an alternative sewage sludge treatment already, as the draining ability of sludge is improved while fuel properties of the yielded hydrochar are superior to native sludge. On the other hand, the sole combustion of sewage sludge and its corresponding hydrochars are a waste in terms of nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen. Therefore, a combination of HTC and a nutrient recycling strategy via the precipitation of phosphate and nitrogen as struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) are introduced in this research. We used an anaerobically digested sewage sludge with high loads of aluminium- and ironsalts. Phosphate release cannot be reached by HTC alone, as phosphate is heavily bound in stable iron- and aluminium-associations. An acid leaching step removes it from the hydrochar (58.5-94.8% P), while the process liquid arising from HTC is used as ammonium source (107-291 mmol l-1NH4). After adjusting pH and addition of a magnesium source, struvite is rapidly precipitated in high purity. Nitric acid is used as a "catalyst" in HTC to improve the degree of carbonization on one hand but also improve the phosphate recovery on the other hand by increasing the amount of ammonium available for struvite formation in the process liquid. The highest total recovery rate of phosphate from sludge was 82.5 wt.% and therefore this approach showed to be a serious alternative to other P-recovery techniques.

Abstract
Activated Carbon (AC) can be used to reduce organic micropollutants (OMPs) in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). While producing ACs conventionally still damages the environment, this can be reduced by using renewable raw material from waste streams und producing AC locally. In this study, fibers (toilet paper) were separated out of wastewater by screening WWTP influents in full scale and then used as a no-cost, carbon-rich and heavy metal-poor raw material to produce ACs. Pretreatment was hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). Thereafter, they were activated using KOH to generate activated carbons (HTC-ACs). Their functional groups were characterized using FT-IR, and the alteration of their chemical composition was traced by elementary analysis. Adsorption tests were performed with nitrogen (BET surface) and methylene blue as standard tests. The adsorption capacity was tested with WWTP effluent and the removal of UVA254 as a surrogate for OMP removal was measured. After HTC and activation 13-16% of the fibers dry mass was obtained as HTC-ACs. Higher dehydration and formation of aromatic structures on the HTC-ACs were detected with FT-IR as HTC and activation temperature increased. BET surface and methylene blue adsorption of some HTC-ACs was higher than the Reference AC. Nevertheless, their ability to reduce OMPs is still lower than the Reference AC due to the different nature of their functional groups and their microporous structure that is not fully accessible for OMPs in real wastewater. Further research has to be carried out to adjust the production process so as to obtain mesoporous HTC-ACs tailored to reduce OMP concentrations and to close the carbon loop within WWTPs.

Abstract
The reconstruction of the signal from hadrons and jets emerging from the proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and entering the ATLAS calorimeters is based on a three-dimensional topological clustering of individual calorimeter cell signals. The cluster formation follows cell signal-significance patterns generated by electromagnetic and hadronic showers. In this, the clustering algorithm implicitly performs a topological noise suppression by removing cells with insignificant signals which are not in close proximity to cells with significant signals. The resulting topological cell clusters have shape and location information, which is exploited to apply a local energy calibration and corrections depending on the nature of the cluster. Topological cell clustering is established as a well-performing calorimeter signal definition for jet and missing transverse momentum reconstruction in ATLAS.

Abstract
This paper presents the method and performance of primary vertex reconstruction in proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment during Run 1 of the LHC. The studies presented focus on data taken during 2012 at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] TeV. The performance has been measured as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing over a wide range, from one to seventy. The measurement of the position and size of the luminous region and its use as a constraint to improve the primary vertex resolution are discussed. A longitudinal vertex position resolution of about [Formula: see text] is achieved for events with high multiplicity of reconstructed tracks. The transverse position resolution is better than [Formula: see text] and is dominated by the precision on the size of the luminous region. An analytical model is proposed to describe the primary vertex reconstruction efficiency as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing and of the longitudinal size of the luminous region. Agreement between the data and the predictions of this model is better than 3% up to seventy interactions per bunch crossing.

Abstract
The reconstruction and calibration algorithms used to calculate missing transverse momentum ([Formula: see text] ) with the ATLAS detector exploit energy deposits in the calorimeter and tracks reconstructed in the inner detector as well as the muon spectrometer. Various strategies are used to suppress effects arising from additional proton-proton interactions, called pileup, concurrent with the hard-scatter processes. Tracking information is used to distinguish contributions from the pileup interactions using their vertex separation along the beam axis. The performance of the [Formula: see text] reconstruction algorithms, especially with respect to the amount of pileup, is evaluated using data collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 [Formula: see text] during 2012, and results are shown for a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of [Formula: see text]. The simulation and modelling of [Formula: see text] in events containing a Z boson decaying to two charged leptons (electrons or muons) or a W boson decaying to a charged lepton and a neutrino are compared to data. The acceptance for different event topologies, with and without high transverse momentum neutrinos, is shown for a range of threshold criteria for [Formula: see text] , and estimates of the systematic uncertainties in the [Formula: see text] measurements are presented.

Direct searches for lepton flavour violation in decays of the Higgs and Z bosons with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions at [Formula: see text] TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb[Formula: see text]. The inclusive cross sections are extracted using likelihood fits to signal and control regions, resulting in [Formula: see text] pb and [Formula: see text] pb, in agreement with the Standard Model predictions.

Abstract
A measurement of the calorimeter response to isolated charged hadrons in the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This measurement is performed with 3.2 nb[Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data at [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] from 2010 and 0.1 nb[Formula: see text] of data at [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] from 2012. A number of aspects of the calorimeter response to isolated hadrons are explored. After accounting for energy deposited by neutral particles, there is a 5% discrepancy in the modelling, using various sets of Geant4 hadronic physics models, of the calorimeter response to isolated charged hadrons in the central calorimeter region. The description of the response to anti-protons at low momenta is found to be improved with respect to previous analyses. The electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters are also examined separately, and the detector simulation is found to describe the response in the hadronic calorimeter well. The jet energy scale uncertainty and correlations in scale between jets of different momenta and pseudorapidity are derived based on these studies. The uncertainty is 2-5% for jets with transverse momenta above 2 [Formula: see text], where this method provides the jet energy scale uncertainty for ATLAS.

Abstract
A search for supersymmetry in events with large missing transverse momentum, jets, and at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton has been performed using 3.2 fb[Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data at [Formula: see text] recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015. Two exclusive final states are considered, with either exactly one or at least two tau leptons. No excess over the Standard Model prediction is observed in the data. Results are interpreted in the context of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking and a simplified model of gluino pair production with tau-rich cascade decays, substantially improving on previous limits. In the GMSB model considered, supersymmetry-breaking scale ([Formula: see text]) values below [Formula: see text] are excluded at the 95% confidence level, corresponding to gluino masses below [Formula: see text]. For large values of [Formula: see text], values of [Formula: see text] up to [Formula: see text] and gluino masses up to [Formula: see text] are excluded. In the simplified model, gluino masses are excluded up to [Formula: see text] for neutralino masses around [Formula: see text]. Neutralino masses below [Formula: see text] are excluded for all gluino masses between 800 and [Formula: see text], while the strongest exclusion of [Formula: see text] is achieved for gluino masses around [Formula: see text].

Abstract
The dijet production cross section for jets containing a b-hadron (b-jets) has been measured in proton-proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] TeV, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of [Formula: see text]. The cross section is measured for events with two identified b-jets with a transverse momentum [Formula: see text] GeV and a minimum separation in the [Formula: see text]-[Formula: see text] plane of [Formula: see text]. At least one of the jets in the event is required to have [Formula: see text] GeV. The cross section is measured differentially as a function of dijet invariant mass, dijet transverse momentum, boost of the dijet system, and the rapidity difference, azimuthal angle and angular distance between the b-jets. The results are compared to different predictions of leading order and next-to-leading order perturbative quantum chromodynamics matrix elements supplemented with models for parton-showers and hadronization.

Abstract
The algorithms used by the ATLAS Collaboration to reconstruct and identify prompt photons are described. Measurements of the photon identification efficiencies are reported, using 4.9 fb[Formula: see text] of pp collision data collected at the LHC at [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] and 20.3 fb[Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text]. The efficiencies are measured separately for converted and unconverted photons, in four different pseudorapidity regions, for transverse momenta between 10 [Formula: see text] and 1.5 [Formula: see text]. The results from the combination of three data-driven techniques are compared to the predictions from a simulation of the detector response, after correcting the electromagnetic shower momenta in the simulation for the average differences observed with respect to data. Data-to-simulation efficiency ratios used as correction factors in physics measurements are determined to account for the small residual efficiency differences. These factors are measured with uncertainties between 0.5% and 10% in 7 [Formula: see text] data and between 0.5% and 5.6% in 8 [Formula: see text] data, depending on the photon transverse momentum and pseudorapidity.

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion using the method of the Optimal Observable is presented. The analysis exploits the decay mode of the Higgs boson into a pair of [Formula: see text] leptons and is based on 20.3 [Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data at [Formula: see text] = 8 [Formula: see text] collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Contributions from CP-violating interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons are described in an effective field theory framework, in which the strength of CP violation is governed by a single parameter [Formula: see text]. The mean values and distributions of CP-odd observables agree with the expectation in the Standard Model and show no sign of CP violation. The CP-mixing parameter [Formula: see text] is constrained to the interval [Formula: see text] at 68% confidence level, consistent with the Standard Model expectation of [Formula: see text].

Abstract
This paper presents a dedicated search for exotic decays of the Higgs boson to a pair of new spin-zero particles, [Formula: see text], where the particle a decays to b-quarks and has a mass in the range of 20-60 GeV. The search is performed in events where the Higgs boson is produced in association with a [Formula: see text] boson, giving rise to a signature of a lepton (electron or muon), missing transverse momentum, and multiple jets from b-quark decays. The analysis is based on the full dataset of pp collisions at [Formula: see text] recorded in 2015 by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 [Formula: see text]. No significant excess of events above the Standard Model prediction is observed, and a [Formula: see text] confidence-level upper limit is derived for the product of the production cross section for [Formula: see text] times the branching ratio for the decay [Formula: see text]. The upper limit ranges from 6.2 pb for an a-boson mass [Formula: see text] to 1.5 pb for [Formula: see text].

Abstract
This Letter presents a measurement of the inelastic proton-proton cross section using 60 μb^{-1} of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s] of 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Inelastic interactions are selected using rings of plastic scintillators in the forward region (2.07<|η|<3.86) of the detector. A cross section of 68.1±1.4 mb is measured in the fiducial region ξ=M_{X}^{2}/s>10^{-6}, where M_{X} is the larger invariant mass of the two hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. In this ξ range the scintillators are highly efficient. For diffractive events this corresponds to cases where at least one proton dissociates to a system with M_{X}>13 GeV. The measured cross section is compared with a range of theoretical predictions. When extrapolated to the full phase space, a cross section of 78.1±2.9 mb is measured, consistent with the inelastic cross section increasing with center-of-mass energy.

Abstract
The large rate of multiple simultaneous proton-proton interactions, or pile-up, generated by the Large Hadron Collider in Run 1 required the development of many new techniques to mitigate the adverse effects of these conditions. This paper describes the methods employed in the ATLAS experiment to correct for the impact of pile-up on jet energy and jet shapes, and for the presence of spurious additional jets, with a primary focus on the large 20.3 [Formula: see text] data sample collected at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text]. The energy correction techniques that incorporate sophisticated estimates of the average pile-up energy density and tracking information are presented. Jet-to-vertex association techniques are discussed and projections of performance for the future are considered. Lastly, the extension of these techniques to mitigate the effect of pile-up on jet shapes using subtraction and grooming procedures is presented.

Abstract
The results of a search for gluinos in final states with an isolated electron or muon, multiple jets and large missing transverse momentum using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] are presented. The dataset used was recorded in 2015 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb[Formula: see text]. Six signal selections are defined that best exploit the signal characteristics. The data agree with the Standard Model background expectation in all six signal selections, and the largest deviation is a 2.1 standard deviation excess. The results are interpreted in a simplified model where pair-produced gluinos decay via the lightest chargino to the lightest neutralino. In this model, gluinos are excluded up to masses of approximately 1.6 Te V depending on the mass spectrum of the simplified model, thus surpassing the limits of previous searches.

Abstract
The result of a search for pair production of the supersymmetric partner of the Standard Model bottom quark ([Formula: see text]) is reported. The search uses 3.2 fb[Formula: see text] of pp collisions at [Formula: see text] TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015. Bottom squarks are searched for in events containing large missing transverse momentum and exactly two jets identified as originating from b-quarks. No excess above the expected Standard Model background yield is observed. Exclusion limits at 95 % confidence level on the mass of the bottom squark are derived in phenomenological supersymmetric R-parity-conserving models in which the [Formula: see text] is the lightest squark and is assumed to decay exclusively via [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is the lightest neutralino. The limits significantly extend previous results; bottom squark masses up to 800 (840) GeV are excluded for the [Formula: see text] mass below 360 (100) GeV whilst differences in mass above 100 GeV between the [Formula: see text] and the [Formula: see text] are excluded up to a [Formula: see text] mass of 500 GeV.

Abstract
The performance of the jet trigger for the ATLAS detector at the LHC during the 2011 data taking period is described. During 2011 the LHC provided proton-proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and heavy ion collisions with a 2.76 TeV per nucleon-nucleon collision energy. The ATLAS trigger is a three level system designed to reduce the rate of events from the 40 MHz nominal maximum bunch crossing rate to the approximate 400 Hz which can be written to offline storage. The ATLAS jet trigger is the primary means for the online selection of events containing jets. Events are accepted by the trigger if they contain one or more jets above some transverse energy threshold. During 2011 data taking the jet trigger was fully efficient for jets with transverse energy above 25 GeV for triggers seeded randomly at Level 1. For triggers which require a jet to be identified at each of the three trigger levels, full efficiency is reached for offline jets with transverse energy above 60 GeV. Jets reconstructed in the final trigger level and corresponding to offline jets with transverse energy greater than 60 GeV, are reconstructed with a resolution in transverse energy with respect to offline jets, of better than 4 % in the central region and better than 2.5 % in the forward direction.

Abstract
A search has been made for supersymmetry in a final state containing two photons and missing transverse momentum using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search makes use of [Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in 2015. Using a combination of data-driven and Monte-Carlo-based approaches, the Standard Model background is estimated to be [Formula: see text] events. No events are observed in the signal region; considering the expected background and its uncertainty, this observation implies a model-independent 95 % CL upper limit of 0.93 fb (3.0 events) on the visible cross section due to physics beyond the Standard Model. In the context of a generalized model of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking with a bino-like next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle, this leads to a lower limit of 1650 GeV on the mass of a degenerate octet of gluino states, independent of the mass of the lighter bino-like neutralino.

Abstract
A study of the decays [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] has been performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25 fb[Formula: see text] of 7 and 8 TeV proton-proton collisions collected with the ATLAS detector during the LHC Run 1. For the [Formula: see text] dimuon decay, an upper limit on the branching fraction is set at [Formula: see text] at 95 % confidence level. For [Formula: see text], the branching fraction [Formula: see text] is measured. The results are consistent with the Standard Model expectation with a p value of 4.8 %, corresponding to 2.0 standard deviations.

Abstract
Measurements of distributions of charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions with a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 151 [Formula: see text]. The particles are required to have a transverse momentum greater than 100 MeV and an absolute pseudorapidity less than 2.5. The charged-particle multiplicity, its dependence on transverse momentum and pseudorapidity and the dependence of the mean transverse momentum on multiplicity are measured in events containing at least two charged particles satisfying the above kinematic criteria. The results are corrected for detector effects and compared to the predictions from several Monte Carlo event generators.
