Abstract
COVID-19 emerged as a worldwide pandemic in early 2020, and while the rapid development of safe and efficacious vaccines stands as an extraordinary achievement, the identification of effective therapeutics has been less successful. This process has been limited in part by a lack of human-relevant preclinical models compatible with therapeutic screening on the native virus, which requires a high-containment environment. Here, we report SARS-CoV-2 infection and robust viral replication in PREDICT96-ALI, a high-throughput, human primary cell-based organ-on-chip platform. We evaluate unique infection kinetic profiles across lung tissue from three human donors by immunofluorescence, RT-qPCR, and plaque assays over a 6-day infection period. Enabled by the 96 devices/plate throughput of PREDICT96-ALI, we also investigate the efficacy of Remdesivir and MPro61 in a proof-of-concept antiviral study. Both compounds exhibit an antiviral effect against SARS-CoV-2 in the platform. This demonstration of SARS-CoV-2 infection and antiviral dosing in a high-throughput organ-on-chip platform presents a critical capability for disease modeling and therapeutic screening applications in a human physiology-relevant in vitro system.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Previous studies showed that selective bladder-sparing approach using TMT is an established therapy of MIBC with outcomes that are comparable to those of radical cystectomy. However, it has been shown that the 5-year local recurrence in the bladder is greater than 40% after TMT. One of the possible reasons was that the RT dose to the bladder tumor or tumor bed was insufficient. Thus, we assessed the effectiveness and safety of Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) boost to bladder tumor or tumor bed for patients with muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 59 consecutive patients with cT2-4 bladder cancer underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT). TURBT was visibly complete in 25 cases. Patients received SABR to the tumor or tumor bed in the bladder followed by conventionally fractionated RT (CFRT) to pelvis and total bladder with concomitant weekly radio-sensitizing chemotherapy. During SABR intravesical installation of isovolumetric saline through urinary catheter ensured adequate bladder filling. Response rate was assessed by cystoscopic evaluation and pelvic MRI or CT. Toxicities were reported per the RTOG acute and late Radiation Morbidity Scoring Schema. RESULTS The median age of all patients was 76 years (35-90 years). All patients completed SBRT boost and 61% patients received concurrent Gemcitabine chemotherapy. After a median follow-up time of 28 months, the rate of local control (LC) at 3 years was 90.0%. The overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) rates at 3 years were 61.6% and 77.5%, respectively. Of the surviving patients, 84.4% have a disease-free and functioning bladder. Acute grade 3 gastrointestinal (GI) or genitourinary (GU) toxicities occurred in only 1.7% of the patients. Late grade 3 GU toxicity occurred in 5.1% of the patients. No patients experienced grade 4 GI or GU toxicities. CONCLUSION SABR boost followed by chemoradiation to the pelvis was found to be a well-tolerated and effective treatment for MIBC patients who are either not candidates for cystectomy or who desire bladder preservation. Randomized study is required to further evaluate this novel tri-modality treatment paradigm.

Abstract
A challenge for screening new anticancer drugs is that efficacy in cell culture models is not always predictive of efficacy in patients. One limitation of standard cell culture is a reliance on non-physiological nutrient levels, which can influence cell metabolism and drug sensitivity. A general assessment of how physiological nutrients affect cancer cell response to small molecule therapies is lacking. To address this, we developed a serum-derived culture medium that supports the proliferation of diverse cancer cell lines and is amenable to high-throughput screening. We screened several small molecule libraries and found that compounds targeting metabolic enzymes were differentially effective in standard compared to serum-derived medium. We exploited the differences in nutrient levels between each medium to understand why medium conditions affected the response of cells to some compounds, illustrating how this approach can be used to screen potential therapeutics and understand how their efficacy is modified by available nutrients.

Abstract
In this paper, we report the synthesis of high-quality Ta2Ni3Se8crystals free of noble or toxic elements and the fabrication and testing of photodetectors on the wire samples. A broadband photoresponse from 405 nm to 1550 nm is observed, along with performance parameters including relatively high photoresponsivity (10 mA W-1) and specific detectivity (3.5 × 107Jones) and comparably short response time (τrise= 433 ms,τdecay= 372 ms) for 1064 nm, 0.5 V bias and 1.352 mW mm-2. Through extensive measurement and analysis, it is determined that the dominant mechanism for photocurrent generation is the photo-bolometric effect, which is believed to be responsible for the very broad spectral detection capability. More importantly, the pronounced response to 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths manifests its promising applications in optical communications. Considering the quasi-one-dimensional structure with layered texture, the potential to build nanodevices on Ta2Ni3Se8makes it even more important in future electronic and optoelectronic applications.

Abstract
Objective: This study aims to investigate the sleep quality of pregnant women in Xuhui District, Shanghai, and the related factors of sleep disturbances during pregnancy. Methods: From February 2019 to February 2021, we used online integrated sleep questionnaire (including PSQI, BQ, ESS, AIS) in Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital, The International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospitals of China Welfare Institution, and Shanghai Eighth People's Hospital, to investigate the sleep quality across pregnancy. We also collected maternal physical examination results, childbearing history, sociodemographic, and other clinical data. The prevalences and related factors of various sleep disturbances in pregnant women were analyzed, including insufficient/excessive nighttime sleep, low sleep efficiency, difficulty falling asleep, poor sleep quality, insomnia, daytime sleepiness, and high risk of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). Results: This study includes 1 898 cases in the first trimester (T1), 3 099 cases in the second trimester (T2), and 1 539 cases in the third trimester (T3). Poor sleep quality (38.6%), daytime sleepiness (mild 41.9%, moderate 17.7%, severe 2.1%), and suspicious insomnia (32.3%) are most prevalent among women in T1 (P<0.01). In comparison, short sleep time (2.7%), long sleep time (8.6%), difficulty falling asleep (12.2%), poor sleep efficiency (35.4%), very poor sleep quality (6.7%), clinical insomnia (21.8%), and high-risk SDB (6.4%) are most prevalent among women in T3 (P<0.05). During pregnancy, late gestation (OR=1.016, 95%CI: 1.006-1.025) and multiple induced/drug abortions (OR=1.329, 95%CI: 1.043-1.692) are risk factors for poor sleep quality (PSQI>5), while multiple full-term deliveries (OR=0.800, 95%CI: 0.675-0.949) is its protective factor. Advanced maternal age (OR=0.976, 95%CI: 0.956-0.997), multiple full-term deliveries (OR=0.808, 95%CI: 0.680-0.959), late gestation (OR=0.983, 95%CI: 0.974-0.992) and hypertension (OR=0.572, 95%CI: 0.401-0.814) are protective factors for daytime sleepiness (ESS>6). The high-risk pregnancy category (OR=9.312, 95%CI: 1.156-74.978) is a risk factor for insomnia (AIS≥4), while multiple full-term deliveries (OR=0.815, 95%CI: 0.691-0.961) is its protective factor. High BMI (OR=1.334, 95%CI: 1.270-1.402) and hypertension (OR=4.427, 95%CI: 2.539-7.719) are risk factors for high-risk SDB in pregnant women. Conclusions: The prevalences of various sleep disturbances are high throughout pregnancy. Noticeably, symptoms of maternal SDB develop along with pregnancy. Different types of sleep disturbances are associated with different factors. Women of high-risk pregnancy category, in late gestation, with high BMI, hypertension, a history of induced/drug abortion, or without a history of full-term delivery can be at high risk of sleep disturbances during pregnancy.

Abstract
Schottky junctions, formed by high work function metals and semiconductors, are important devices in electronics and optoelectronics. The metal deposition in traditional Schottky interfaces usually damages the semiconductor surface and causes defect states, which reduces the Schottky barrier height and device performance. This can be avoided in the atomically smooth interface formed by two-dimensional (2D) metals and semiconductors. For better interface tailoring engineering, it is particularly important to understand various interface effects in such 2D Schottky devices under critical or boundary conditions. Here we report the fabrication and testing of three types of MoS2devices, i.e., using PtTe2, Cr and Au as contact materials. While the Cr/MoS2contact is an ohmic contact, the other two are Schottky contacts. The van-der-Waals interface of PtTe2-MoS2results in a well-defined OFF state and a significant rectification ratio of 104. This parameter, together with an ideality factor 2.1, outperforms the device based on evaporated Au. Moreover, a device in the intermediate condition is also presented. An abrupt increase in the reverse current is observed and understood based on the enhanced tunneling current. Our work manifests the essential role of doping concentration and provides another example for 2D Schottky interface design.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) materials attached with flexible substrates enable possibilities to apply their superior properties to the rapidly increasing demand for foldable displays and wearable biosensors in the internet-of-things technology. However, previous two-step strategy to construct the flexible devices, namely first obtaining 2D materials elsewhere and then transferring them onto flexible substrates, can cause huge problems, including irreversibly undermining the device performance and limiting the material size. Here we propose a new one-step strategy (other than the liquid phase processing and low temperature synthesis methods), namely directly depositing appropriate 2D materials onto flexible substrates, which involves no transferring and can maintain the crystal quality and properties to the greatest extent. More importantly, this strategy in principle has no limit in the film size, hence removing a main obstacle for the practical use of flexible films, such as complex logic operations and large-area optoelectronic applications. Using this strategy, a centimeter-scale SnSe2film is directly grown on polydimethylsiloxane, which is characterized as a uniform, out-of-plane oriented and semiconducting film that is robust to deformations. Based on the film, a flexible photodetector is fabricated and distinct photoresponse to a broad spectrum of light (405-830 nm) is observed, with remarkable technical parameters.

Abstract
Objective: To Evaluate the clinic effect of two-staged laparoscopic Fowler-Stephens orchiopexy in the treatment of high cryptorchidism, and compare it with laparoscopic orchiopexy treatment without disconnecting spermatic vessels. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 20 cases of children with high cryptorchidism who were treated with two-staged Fowler-Stephens orchiopexy from January 2015 to April 2019 (F-S group). All the children in this group had unilateral cryptorchidism, age 6 to 18 months. The average age was 13.5 months. Seven cases were on the left side, and 13 cases were on the right side. There were 20 control children in the same age group who were treated with testicular fixation without disconnecting spermatic vessels, age 6 to 18 months. The average age was 12.5 months. Six cases were on the left side, and 14 cases were on the right side. Testicular ultrasonography and sex hormone examination were conducted before operation. F-S group met the indications for Fowler-Stephens surgical. In the first stage, the testicular vessels were doubly clipped at a site away from the testis in laparoscopic, and the second stage was scheduled about 6 months after the first stage. The children in the control group were treated with laparoscopic orchiopexy without disconnect spermatic vessels. The two groups were followed up to 6 months after the operation, and the testicular volume and sex hormone indexes of the two groups were measured. The testicular volume and sex hormones before and after the operation of the F-S group and the control group were respectively subjected to a self-control study, and a hormone comparison study was carried out between the two groups of children. Results: Both the F-S group and the control group successfully fixed the testes in the scrotum without tension during the operation. In both groups, 20 cases of testicular positions were reexamined 6 months after the operation without retraction. All the patients had a viable testis in scrotum after operation. Two of F-S group had an atrophic testis in the scrotum, and the others had a good vascularization detected on echo color doppler ultrasound. The average testicular volume of F-S group was (0.34±0.16) ml before operation and the postoperative one was (0.38±0.13) ml, P=0.089, P>0.05. In control group, the preoperative average testicular volume was (0.40±0.14) ml, and postoperative one was (0.40±0.15) ml, P=0.933, P>0.05. The testicular volume of two group had no significant difference. Sex hormone reexamination: Testosterone (T), estradiol (E2) and luteinizing hormone (LH) did not change after operation. Prolactin (PRL) in F-S group was 13.44 μg/L before operation and 12.3 μg/L after operation, PRL in control group was from 15.45 μg/L to 10.34 μg/L, P=0.732, the change of prolactin (PRL) has no significant difference. The median preoperative follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in the F-S group was 1.18 U/L preoperatively and 1.61 U/L postoperatively; the median FSH of the control group was 1.21 U/L preoperatively and 1.1 U/L postoperatively. Compared between the two groups, the postoperative increase in the FS group was higher than that before the operation, P=0.032, P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant. The median of progesterone (PROG) in the F-S group was 0.25 nmol/L before operation and 0.17 nmol/L after operation; the median PROG of the control group was 0.56 nmol/L before operation and 0.24 nmol/L after operation. It was lower after the operation than before the operation, P=0.034, P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions: (1) Laparoscopic Fowler-stephens staging operation is an effective method for the treatment of patients with high cryptorchidism, and it is worthy of further promotion. (2) Disruption of spermatic cord vessels does have an impact on hormones changes. The choice of this surgical procedure should be carefully and fully evaluated.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects and mechanisms of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. alkaloids (DNLA) on myocardial lipid metabolism during ischemia-reperfusion in dogs undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: Twenty-four healthy hybrid dogs, half male and half female, were randomly divided into sham group, model group, solvent control group and treatment group (DNLA, 6 mg/kg) (n=6), all of which were established with CPB. Except for the sham group, the aorta of the other groups was occluded for 60 min and then reopened. The uptake rate of free fatty acids, the concentration of long-chain acyl coenzyme A (LCACoA), mRNA and protein expression of fatty acid translocase enzyme/CD36 (FAT/CD36) in myocardial tissue and the cardiac function indexes were measured at 4 time points: before cardiopulmonary bypass (T1), 15 min (T2), 60 min (T3), and 90 min (T4) after reperfusion in each group. Results: Before CPB, there were no statistically significant differences in the uptake rate of free fatty acids, the concentration of LCACoA and mRNA expression of FAT/CD36 in myocardial tissue in each group (P>0.05). After the opening of the aorta, the above indexes in model group [(35.8±4.7)%, (8.55±1.51) nmol/g, 3.23±0.68] and treatment group [(27.4±2.7)%, (6.10±1.38) nmol/g, 2.20±0.56] were higher than those in sham group [(19.6±3.9)%, (4.16±0.81)nmol/g, 1.19±0.52], which were the highest at T2, and then gradually decreased (all P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the increase of above indicators in the treatment group was significantly lower at T2 (all P<0.05). Before CPB, there was no statistically significant differences in cardiac function indexes [left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and±dp/dtmax] among the groups (P>0.05). After the aorta was opened, the above indexes in model group [(76.5±9.1) mmHg, (31.1±2.9) mmHg, (1.2±0.4) mmHg/ms, (-0.9±0.1) mmHg/ms] and treatment group [(92.9±8.7) mmHg, (25.3±3.6) mmHg, (1.8±0.4) mmHg/ms, (-1.3±0.1) mmHg/ms] were lower than those in sham group [(165.5±12.9) mmHg, (6.5±0.5) mmHg, (3.3±0.6) mmHg/ms, (-2.9±0.3) mmHg/ms] (all P<0.05), but the impairment degree of cardiac function indicators in treatment group was significantly lower than that those in model group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: During CPB in dogs, DNLA can inhibit the abnormal expression of FAT/CD36, decrease the uptake of free fatty acids, and reduce the abnormal accumulation of LCACoA in myocardium,thereby alleviating the myocardial injury after ischemia-reperfusion.

Abstract
Objective: The consistency of 24-hour oropharyngeal Dx-pH monitoring and proton pump inhibitor(PPI) test in the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) was investigated. Methods: Sixty patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) related symptoms who had never received PPI treatment were assessed by reflux symptom index (RSI) and reflux finding score (RFS) between October 2017 and October 2018, including 28 males and 38 females, aged from 16 to 72 years, with a medium age of 38 years. Prior to treatment, all patients were evaluated with 24 hours oropharyngeal Dx-pH monitoring(Restech). After empiric therapy with PPI twice-daily for 8 weeks, the efficacy was evaluated according to posttreatment RSI score.The data was analysed with Kruskal-Wallis test, Student Newman Keuls test and consistency check. Results: (1)Among all 60 patients,13 patients (21.7%) had pathologic Ryan score and all resulted responsive to PPI;27 patients (45.0%) with a negative Ryan score were unresponsive to PPI; 20 patients (33.3%) despite a negative Ryan score resulted responsive to PPI therapy. Considering responsiveness to PPI therapy as the gold standard for the diagnosis of LPRD, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of Ryan score were 39.4%, 100%, 100% and 57.4% respectively. The Kappa value was 0.369 (P<0.01). (2)Among 34 patients (56.7%) with positive Dx-pH results (24-hour oropharyngeal acid reflux events≥ 3 times), 29 patients were positive and 5 patients were negative in PPI test. Among 26 patients with negative Dx-pH results (24-hour oropharyngeal acid reflux events<3 times), 4 patients were positive and 22 patients were negative in PPI test. Considering responsiveness to PPI therapy as the gold standard for the diagnosis of LPRD, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of 24-hour oropharyngeal acid reflux events were 87.9%, 81.5%, 85.3% and 84.6% respectively. The Kappa value was 0.696(P<0.01). Conclusions: There is a positive correlation between 24-hour oropharyngeal Dx-pH monitoring positive results (24-hour oropharyngeal acid reflux events≥3 times) and PPI test in the diagnosis of LPRD. The 24-hour oropharyngeal Dx-pH monitoring can be a promising tool for the diagnosis of suspected LPRD patients, and more sensitive and accurate Dx-pH diagnostic index will be required in the clinic.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinicopathologic features and potential prognostic predictors of locally recurrent renal cell carcinoma patients after initial surgery. METHODS Authors retrospectively analyzed data extracted from 81 patients who were treated for postoperative locally recurrence of renal cell carcinoma from January 2006 to June 2016 in the Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital. Postoperative locally recurrence of renal cell carcinoma was defined as disease recurring in the remnant kidney, renal fossa, adjacent abdomen, ipsilateral adrenal and retroperitoneal lymph nodes. RESULTS In the study, 81 patients were finally included, of whom 43 were initially treated in our hospital and 38 were initially treat in other centers. Partial nephrectomy (PN) was performed for 38 cases (26 in our hospital and 12 in other hospitals) as initial treatment and radical nephrectomy (RN) was conducted for the remnant 43 cases (17 in our hospital and 26 in other hospitals). Overall median recurrence time was 26 months (range: 3-164 months), in which 26 months (range: 3-55 months) for PN cases and 30 months (range: 4-164 months) for RN cases (P=0.009). Sixty-nine patients had single site recurrence, including remnant kidney (n=29), renal fossa (n=20), abdomen (n=4), ipsilateral lymph nodes (n=5), ipsilateral adrenal (n=11), while 12 patients had multiple sites recurrence. Seventy-eight patients were managed by complete surgical resection, while three patients were managed by radiofrequency ablation. Postoperative pathological diagnoses included clear cell carcinoma (n=72), papillary renal cell carcinoma (n=8, 7 cases with type 1, 1 case with type 2) and Xp11 translocation/TFE3 gene fusion renal cell carcinoma (n=1). Complete pathologic information of the initial surgery could be extracted from 43 patients who were initially treated in our hospital. Seventeen patients with initial radical nephrectomy were staged as T1a (n=4), T1b (n=2), T2a (n=1), T3a (n=8), and T3b (n=2). Twenty-six patients with initial partial nephrectomy were staged as T1a (n=18), T1b (n=7), and T3a (n=1). For PN cohort, the patients with T1a stage disease had longer median recurrence time than those with beyond T1a stage disease, and the difference was significant (29 months vs. 18 months, P=0.041). At the end of the follow-up, 58 patients were alive, 4 died and 19 lost the follow-up. Overall, 3-year and 5-year disease free survival rates were 81.9%, and 53.6%, respectively. CONCLUSION The present research reported a large-scale single central experience of locally recurrent renal cell carcinoma. The recurrence time of the PN group is shorter than that of the RN group. For patients after PN surgery, median recurrence time is longer for patients with T1a stage tumor when compared with those with stage beyond T1a. Patients can obtain relative long-term survival after complete secondary surgery resection.

Abstract
Plasma-based accelerators have made impressive progress in recent years. However, the beam energy spread obtained in these accelerators is still at the ∼1% level, nearly one order of magnitude larger than what is needed for challenging applications like coherent light sources or colliders. In plasma accelerators, the beam energy spread is mainly dominated by its energy chirp (longitudinally correlated energy spread). Here we demonstrate that when an initially chirped electron beam from a linac with a proper current profile is sent through a low-density plasma structure, the self-wake of the beam can significantly reduce its energy chirp and the overall energy spread. The resolution-limited energy spectrum measurements show at least a threefold reduction of the beam energy spread from 1.28% to 0.41% FWHM with a dechirping strength of ∼1 (MV/m)/(mm pC). Refined time-resolved phase space measurements, combined with high-fidelity three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations, further indicate the real energy spread after the dechirper is only about 0.13% (FWHM), a factor of 10 reduction of the initial energy spread.

Abstract
Objective:Retrospctive analysed the Characteristics and outcomes of surgical treatment of 18 patients who were diagnosed as secondary acquired cholesteatoma (SAC).Method:Patients with SAC accepted operations were enrolled in this study. Then the factors such as sex, age, cource of history, otorrhea before operation, the size of perforation of tympanic membrane, entry site of epithelium, extension direction, ossicular destruction, tympanosclerosis, tympanum tympani tendon involvement, stage of cholesteatoma(JOS, 2015, Japan),degree of gasification of mastoid(JOS,2015,Japan),air conductive threshold, bone conductive threshold, air-bone gap, the healing of tympanic membrane and the auditory improvement were analyzed.Result:Eighteen patients were enrolled in this study, with course of history range from 2 months to 50 years (average: 20.20±16.31) years. There were 14 cases with wet ear before operation. All patients were conformed with perforation of membranal tensa by otoendoscopic photography before operation, with nearly total in 5 ears,large size in 10 ears,medium size in 2 ears and small size in 1 ear. Ossicular erosion were found in 13 patients (malleus involved in 6, incus involved in 12 and stapes involved in 4). Thirteen patients with tendon of tensor tympani involved and 9 patients with tympanosclerosis were conformed during operation. The epithelium entered through the malleus manubrium to the promontory in 13 cases, through the edge of the perforation in 3 cases and through the incus long process to around stapes in 1 case. Cholesteatoma invasion extend to anterosuperior area in 3 cases, posterosuperior area in 3 cases,both in anterosuperior and posterosuperior area in 12 cases. The cholesteatomas classified: stage Ⅰ in 11 cases, stage Ⅱ in 7 cases. Mastoid gasification classified MC0 in 6 cases, MC1 in 10 cases and MC2 in 2 cases. The average air conductive threshold was (56.32±10.15) dB, bone conductive threshold was (20.76±6.22) dB and air-bone gap (35.56±9.84) dB.Tympanic membrane healed in all patients during following up, without recurrent of cholesteatoma, and the post-operative air conductive threshold (43.02±14.96) dB and air-bone gap (21.04±12.90)dB were improved significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion:Most of SAC were secondary to nearly total or large perforation of membranal tensa (83.33%), with relative long history of chronic otitis media (average 20.20 ± 16.31) years and otorrhea before operation. The epithelium entered mainly through the malleus manubrium to the promontory,then through edge of the perforation,by extending anterosuperior and posterosuperior area and usually accompanied with tendon of tensor tympani involved, ossicular destruction, and poor mastoid gasification and tympanosclerosis. The characteristics of SAC were different from other type of cholesteatoma which need further researches.

Abstract
The in-trans delivery of protein therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier by K16ApoE peptide carrier has been demonstrated to improve the neurological symptoms and increase the life-span of late-infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (LINCL) mice. However, acute toxicity of K16ApoE was observed in LINCL mice resulting in a narrow therapeutic index, limiting the potential of translating the K16ApoE into a viable drug delivery system. This study aims to unravel the toxic mechanism of action. We hypothesized that the toxic response towards the peptide was induced by inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity at neuro-muscular junction. Here, results from the dose-response study suggested that AChE activity was inhibited by K16ApoE at either low or high doses but not at the mid-dose where a significant increase in AChE activity was observed. Meanwhile, molecular docking simulations showed that the N-terminus of K16ApoE is capable of binding to the active site gorge of AChE. In addition to a favorable spatial orientation, this docking pose also revealed strong surface charge interactions which may account for the observed inhibitory effect. While statistical analysis of the dose response and survival ratio suggested that AChE is not the primary mechanism of action for the acute toxicity of K16ApoE, both biochemical evidence and structural analysis have assigned indirect but critical roles for AChE in the overall toxicity mechanism of this peptide carrier.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neuropathic pain, a type of chronic pain as a result of direct central or peripheral nerve damage, is associated with significant quality of life and functional impairment. Its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We investigated whether ROR2, a member of the receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor (ROR) family, participates in modulation of neuropathic pain. METHODS Thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia were measured using radiant heat and von Frey filament testing. Immunofluorescence staining was used to detect expression of ROR2 in neuronal nuclei. Fos expression was determined by immunocytochemistry. Phosphorylation status was detected by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Small interfering RNA was used to knock down ROR2 expression. RESULTS ROR2 was upregulated and activated in spinal neurones after chronic constriction injury (CCI) in mice [1.3 (0.1) to 2.1 (0.1)-fold of sham, P<0.01] from Day 1-21. CCI induced significant demethylation of the CpG island in the ROR2 gene promoter [0.37 (0.06) vs 0.12 (0.03)% CpG methylation, P<0.001]. Knockdown of ROR2 in the spinal cord prevented and reversed CCI-induced pain behaviours and spinal neuronal sensitisation [Fos expression: 130 (12) vs 81 (8) cells, P<0.05; 120 (11) vs 70 (7) cells, P<0.05]. In contrast, activation of spinal ROR2 by intrathecal injection of Wnt5a induced pain behaviours and spinal neuronal sensitisation [Fos expression: 11 (1) vs 100 (12) cells, P<0.001] in wild-type mice. Furthermore, ROR2-mediated pain modulation required phosphorylation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2B subunit (GluN2B) at Ser 1303 and Tyr1472 by pathways involving protein kinase C (PKC) and Src family kinases. Intrathecal injection of GluN2B, PKC, or Src family kinase-specific inhibitors significantly attenuated Wnt5a-induced pain behaviours. CONCLUSIONS ROR2 in the spinal cord regulates neuropathic pain via phosphorylation of GluN2B, suggesting a potential target for prevention and relief of neuropathic pain.

Abstract
In radiation pressure ion acceleration (RPA) research, the transverse stability within laser plasma interaction has been a long-standing, crucial problem over the past decades. In this paper, we present a one-dimensional two-fluid theory extended from a recent work Wan et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 234801 (2016)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.117.234801 to clearly clarify the origin of the intrinsic transverse instability in the RPA process. It is demonstrated that the purely growing density fluctuations are more likely induced due to the strong coupling between the fast oscillating electrons and quasistatic ions via the ponderomotive force with spatial variations. The theory contains a full analysis of both electrostatic (ES) and electromagnetic modes and confirms that the ES mode actually dominates the whole RPA process at the early linear stage. By using this theory one can predict the mode structure and growth rate of the transverse instability in terms of a wide range of laser plasma parameters. Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations are systematically carried out to verify the theory and formulas in different regimes, and good agreements have been obtained, indicating that the electron-ion coupled instability is the major factor that contributes the transverse breakup of the target in RPA process.

Abstract
Dirac node arc semimetal state is a new topological quantum state which is proposed to exist in PtSn4 (Wu et al 2016 Dirac node arcs in PtSn4 Nat. Phys. 12 667-71). We present a systematic de Haas-van Alphen quantum oscillation study on this compound. Two intriguing oscillation branches, i.e. F 1 and F 2, are detected in the fast Fourier transformation spectra, both of which are characterized to possess tiny effective mass and ultrahigh quantum mobility. And the F 2 branch exhibits an angle-dependent nontrivial Berry phase. The features are consistent with the existence of the node arc semimetal state and shed new light on its complicated Fermi surfaces and topological nature.

Abstract
Objective: To study the clinical characteristics, image findings, therapeutic method and prognosis of metanephric adenoma. Method: The clinical characteristic, image findings, operation methods and prognosis of 16 metanephric adenoma patients treated at Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital from January 2004 to March 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: There were 6 male and 10 female patients in the study. The mean age of patients was 33.7 years (ranging from 14 to 83 years). Two patients came to the hospital because of fever, while other 14 patients had no symptoms and found renal tumor by medical examination. One case was found polythemia vera and another 1 case showed mild anemia. Serum creatine of all the cases were in normal range. The tumor of 11 cases were at left side and 5 cases were at right. All patients took urinary tract ultrasound. Fifteen patients took CT examination. Among them, 14 cases were solid mass and 1 case was cystosolid.CT value was (41±4) HU. CT scan showed that the tumor was slight enhanced and CT value increased to (77±9) HU. Six patients took MRI examination. The MRI showed high or low signal of T1WI or T2WI scans.Tumor size was (4.7±3.9)cm (ranging from 1.7 to 17.5 cm). All 16 patients took operation and 11 of them took laparoscopic surgery while the other 5 cases took open surgery. Eleven cases took partial nephrectomy, 4 cases took nephrectomy and 1 case took nephroureterectomy. The surgical procedures were all successful and no complications occured during perioperative period. All cases were all confirmed metanephric adenoma by postoperative pathology and surgery cut edge were all negative. Immunohistochemical study showed that the positive rate of Vimentin, CD57, AE1/AE3, WT1, CK7 and AMACR respectively were 16/16, 15/16, 12/16, 10/16, 3/16 and 2/16. The median follow-up time of 16 cases was 44 months (ranging from 8 to 125 months) and none had recurrence or metastasis.One case died 125 months after surgery because of advanced age(83 years old). Conclusions: Metanephric adenoma is difficult to be diagnosed relying on clinical characteristics and image features. Pathology can help confirm the diagnosis. Partial nephrectomy is the first choice for operation and can achieve good prognosis. But it still needs a regular follow-up.

[Interaction between TRPC1 and STIM1 in calcium sensing receptor mediated calcium influx and nitric oxide production in human umbilical vein endothelial cells]. Abstract
Objective: To investigate the interaction of Ca(2+) protein TRPC1 and STIM1 in extracellular Ca(2+) -sensing receptor (CaR)-induced extracellular Ca(2+) influx and the production of nitric oxide (NO). Methods: Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were cultured and incubated with CaR agonist spermine (activating store-operates cation channels (SOC) and receptor-operated channels (ROC)), CaR negative allosteric modulator Calhex231 (blocking SOC, activating ROC) and ROC analogue TPA (activating ROC, blocking SOC), protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor Ro31-8220, PKCs and PKCμ inhibitor Go6967(activate SOC, blocking ROC), respectively. The interaction of TRPC1 and STIM1 was determined using the immunofluorescence methods. The interaction between TRPC1 and STIM1 were examined by Co-immuno precipitation. The HUVECs were divided into: TRPC1 and STIM1 short hairpin RNA group (shTRPC1+ shSTIM1 group), vehicle-TRPC1+ vehicle-STIM1 group and control group. The cells were incubated with four different treatments under the action of above mentioned interventions, intracellular Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+) ](i)) was detected using the fluorescence Ca(2+) indicator Fura-2/AM, the production of NO was determined by DAF-FM. Results: (1) The expression of TRPC1 and STIM1 proteins levels in HUVECs: Under the confocal microscope, TRPC1 and STIM1 protein expression showed masculine gender, both located in cytoplasm in the normal control group. Post incubation with Calhex231+ TPA, Ro31-8220 and Go6967, TRPC1 and STIM1 positioned in cytoplasm was significantly reduced, and the combined TRPC1 and STIM1 was also significantly reduced. (2) The interaction of TRPC1 and STIM1 in HUVECs: The relative ratios of Calhex231+ TPA+ Spermine+ Ca(2+) group, Ro31-8220+ Spermine+ Ca(2+) group and Go6976+ Spermine+ Ca(2+) group STIM1/TRPC1 and TRPC1/STIM1 were as follows: (25.98±2.17)% and (44.10±4.01)%, (20.85±1.01)% and (46.31±3.47)%, (23.88±2.05)% and (39.65±2.91)%, which were significantly lower than those in the control group (100.00±4.66)% and (100.00±6.40)% and in the Spermine+ Ca(2+) group (106.04±2.45)% and (107.78±2.66)% (all P<0.05). (3) The influence of joint TRPC1 and STIM1 transfection to four different drugs treated HUVECs on [Ca(2+) ](i) and NO generation: The changes of two excitation fluorescence intensity ratio and NO net fluorescence intensity values were consistent, [Ca(2+) ](i) and NO net fluorescence intensity values were significantly lower in the experimental group than the control group and the vehicle group (all P<0.05), while which were similar between the vehicle group and control group (all P>0.05). Conclusions: Our results indicate that TRPC1 and STIM1 jointly regulate CaR-mediated Ca(2+) influx and nitric oxide generation in HUVECs in the form of binary complex.

Abstract
Objective: To study the impact to operation safety of preoperative renal artery embolization for management of ≥10 cm renal cell carcinoma. Methods: The clinical data of 239 cases with ≥10 cm renal cell carcinoma which all had underwent operation in Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital from January 2002 to December 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Fifty-three patients underwent preoperative renal artery embolization (therapeutic group) and 186 patients did not (control group). The effect of embolization on operative time, transfusion requirements, hospitalization, ICU stay and perioperative complications were analyzed by comparing the two groups using rank sum test and χ(2) test or Fisher exact test. Results: Comparing the therapeutic group and control group, there was significant difference in tumor location (on the left or right). The mean age, sex, mean primary tumor size, and TNM stage were similar in both groups. Comparing the therapeutic group and control group, there were more open surgeries in therapeutic group (96.2% vs. 82.3%, χ(2)=6.438, P=0.013). There were no significant differences in mean operative time (238 (525) minutes vs. 208 (583) minutes, Z=-2.182, P=0.062). The mean blood transfusion (700 (1 900) ml vs. 925 (8 800) ml, Z=-1.064, P=0.006) had significant difference. The therapeutic group had a longer mean hospitalization (21 (50) days vs. 15 (79) days, Z=-4.322, P=0.000) and higher rate of intensive care unit stay (54.7% vs. 34.4%, χ(2)=6.103, P=0.027). There was no significant difference in perioperative complications between two groups (0 vs.3.2%, P=0.408). Conclusion: Preoperative renal artery embolization in ≥10 cm renal cell carcinoma patients undergoing operation provides benefit in increasing operation safety and reducing perioperative death.

Abstract
WHAT IS KNOWN Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) plays an important role in the development of essential hypertension (EH). Genetic factors remarkably influence circulating ACE2 level. OBJECTIVE Because heritability had remarkable effects on circulating ACE2, we designed this study to shed light on whether circulating levels of ACE2, angiotensin-(1-7) and angiotensin-(1-9) were linked to single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and haplotypes in ACE2 gene. METHODS A total of 213 patients with newly diagnosed mild to moderate EH were enrolled in the present study. Four ACE2 tag SNPs (rs2074192, rs4646171, rs4646155 and rs2106809) were genotyped, and major haplotypes consisting of these 4 SNPs were reconstructed for all subjects. Circulating levels of ACE2, angiotensin-(1-7) and angiotensin-(1-9) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS In female subjects, linear regression analysis suggested that rare alleles of ACE2 rs2074192 and rs2106809 were associated with reduced circulating angiotensin-(1-7) levels (P=.007 and P=.006, respectively). ACE2 haplotype CAGC was associated with elevated circulating angiotensin-(1-7) levels (P=.03) whereas TAGT was associated with reduced circulating angiotensin-(1-7) levels in females (P<.001). Univariate linear regression analysis revealed that circulating ACE2 levels were positively associated with systolic blood pressure (P=.02), mean arterial pressure (P=.02) and serum creatinine (P<.001) in females whereas circulating ACE2 levels were positively associated with age (P<.001) and serum creatinine (P<.001) in males. WHAT IS NEW AND CONCLUSION ACE2 SNPs and haplotypes are associated with circulating angiotensin-(1-7) levels. ACE2 genetic variants may be the determinants of circulating angiotensin-(1-7) levels in hypertensive females.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the diagnostic rate, safety and clinical application of percutaneous renal masses biopsy for advanced renal cell carcinoma patients. METHODS In this retrospective study, we collected the data of renal masses from the patients who underwent renal masses biopsy under ultrasound from April 2001 to December 2014 in Peking University First Hospital. A total of 75 patients who were undiagnosed or diagnosed with advanced renal cell carcinoma by the imageological method were enrolled in this study. The patient and lesion characteristics such as tumor size, pathology of tumor, histologic subtype, pathological grade, biopsied location and biopsied cores were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS Among all the 75 patients, biopsy was diagnostic in 64 cases (85.3%) and non-diagnostic in 11 cases (14.7%). Of the 64 diagnostic biopsies, 60 were malignant, including 37 (61.7%) renal cell carcinoma (RCC), 13 (21.7%) urothelial carcinoma and 10 (16.7%) other malignant masses. Of all the RCC subjects, 24 suffered from clear cell RCC, 5 papillary RCC, 3 collecting duct carcinomas, 1 unclassified RCC and 4 unknown subtypes. The 11 non-diagnostic biopsied samplings included inflammatory, blood and extrarenal tissue and normal renal tissue. The proportion of collecting duct carcinoma in RCC was 10.8% and the proportion of squamous carcinoma in urothelial carcinoma was 23.1%, which were both higher than the previous research findings. For the male and female groups, non-diagnostic yields were 6.5% and 30.4%, respectively (P=0.022). Of all the 75 patients, 13 renal cell carcinoma patients underwent the surgical treatment and got the results of postoperative pathology. Comparing preoperative biopsy pathological diagnosis with postoperative pathological diagnosis, we found the diagnostic correct rates for benign and malignant lesions, pathological subtype and pathological grade were 100%, 81.8% and 60%, respectively. Mild macroscopic hematuria occurred in 1 case after RMB and there were no serious complications in all the cases. CONCLUSION Percutaneous renal masses biopsy under ultrasound with a high diagnostic rate which can define the histologic subtype of renal cell carcinoma. With targeted therapy, more and more patients whose evaluation suggests local advanced disease or metastatic tumors adopt renal tumor biopsy to define the histologic subtype, which could avoid unnecessary surgical treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the mechanisms of nuclear export signal of androgen receptor (NESAR) in the regulation of androgen receptor (AR) protein expression and stability in prostate cancer. METHODS The green fluorescent protein fusion protein expression vectors pEGFP-AR(1-918aa), pEGFP-NESAR (743-817aa), pEGFP-NAR (1-665aa) and pEGFP-NAR-NESAR, and lysine mutants of NESAR pEGFP-NESAR K776R, pEGFP-NESAR K807R and pEGFP-NESAR K776R/K807R, were transiently transfected into prostate cancer cell line PC3. Fluorescence microscopy, Western blot and immunoprecipitation were used to detect NESAR regulation of androgen receptor stability. RESULTS Under the fluorescence microscope, NESAR-containing fusion proteins were cytoplasmic localization, and their fluorescence intensities were much weaker than those without NESAR. The expression levels of NESAR-containing fusion proteins were significantly lower than those without NESAR. The half-lives of GFP-NESAR and GFP-NAR-NESAR were less than 6 h, while the expression of GFP and GFP-NAR was relatively stable and the half-life was more than 24 h in the presence of cycloheximide. The expression levels of GFP-NESAR were significantly increased by proteasome inhibitor MG132 treatment in a dose-dependent manner; in contrast, MG132 did not show any significant effect on the protein levels of GFP. When new protein synthesis was blocked, MG132 could also prevent the degradation of GFP-NESAR in the transfected cells in the presence of cycloheximide, while it had no significant effect on GFP protein stability in the parallel experiment. GFP immunoprecipitation showed that the ubiquitination level of GFP-NESAR fusion protein was significantly higher than that of the GFP control. The mutations of lysine sites K776 and K807 in NESAR significantly reduced the level of ubiquitination, and showed increased protein stability, indicating that they were the key amino acid residues of NESAR ubiquitination. CONCLUSION NESAR was unstable and decreased the stability of its fusion proteins. NESAR was the target of polyubiquitination and mediated the degradation of its fusion proteins through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway in prostate cancer cells. Our research provides a new way to regulate the level and/or activity of AR proteins, thus helping us understand the molecular mechanisms of AR degradation and strict control of AR in the progression to castration-resistance.

Abstract
We show that a high-energy electron bunch can be used to capture the instantaneous longitudinal and transverse field structures of the highly transient, microscopic, laser-excited relativistic wake with femtosecond resolution. The spatiotemporal evolution of wakefields in a plasma density up ramp is measured and the reversal of the plasma wake, where the wake wavelength at a particular point in space increases until the wake disappears completely only to reappear at a later time but propagating in the opposite direction, is observed for the first time by using this new technique.

Abstract
Objective: The growing body of literature showed a link between uric acid and pulmonary hypertension (PH), but the impact of hyperuremia on outcome of patients with PH has not been well defined. Therefore, the present study was performed to analyze the impact of uric acid on outcome of PH patients. Methods: One hundred seventy-three PH patients (112 females, mean age 38 years old), who were hospitalized in our department between January 2010 and December 2015, were included in our study, the PH diagnosis was made based on right heart catheterization examination result (mean pulmonary artery pressure≥25 mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)). PH patients were divided into mild to moderate PH group (Rp/Rs≤0.6, n=97) and severe PH group (Rp/Rs>0.6, n=76). Fifty-one patients (33 females, mean age 45 years old) without PH based on right heart catheterization were included as control subjects. All participants were followed up for a median of 24 months(6-71 months). Clinical endpoints were defined as cardiogenic death or heart-and-lung transplantation. Results: Uric acid was positively correlated with pulmonary vascular resistance(r=0.398, P<0.01), systemic vascular resistance(r=0.244, P<0.01) and mean right atrial pressure (r=0.26, P<0.01), and was negatively correlated with cardiac index(r=-0.278, P<0.01)and mixed venous oxygen saturation (r=-0.322, P<0.01)in PH patients. Serum uric acid level was significantly higher in patients with severe PH than in patients with mild-to-moderate PH and the control subjects (both P<0.05). According to the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), 425.5 μmol/L was found to be the best cut-off value of serum uric acid level to predict the outcome of PH patients (sensitivity 50%, specificity 72%). During follow-up, patients with higher level of uric acid (>425.5 μmol/L) were linked with poorer clinical outcome compared to patients with uric acid <425.5 μmol/L(P=0.027). Conclusion: Our findings suggests that uric acid is associated with the severity of PH and higher uric acid level serves as an important predictor for poor clinical outcome of PH patients.

Abstract
The transverse stability of the target is crucial for obtaining high quality ion beams using the laser radiation pressure acceleration (RPA) mechanism. In this Letter, a theoretical model and supporting two-dimensional (2D) particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations are presented to clarify the physical mechanism of the transverse instability observed in the RPA process. It is shown that the density ripples of the target foil are mainly induced by the coupling between the transverse oscillating electrons and the quasistatic ions, a mechanism similar to the oscillating two stream instability in the inertial confinement fusion research. The predictions of the mode structure and the growth rates from the theory agree well with the results obtained from the PIC simulations in various regimes, indicating the model contains the essence of the underlying physics of the transverse breakup of the target.

Abstract
Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a newly discovered member of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, counterbalances the actions of angiotensin-converting enzyme. The objective of our study was to assess the association between rs2106809 polymorphism in ACE2 gene and the blood pressure response to ACE inhibitors in untreated hypertensive patients. After a 2-week, double-blind placebo run-in period, either benazepril or imidapril was administered for 6 weeks to 497 patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension. The achieved changes in BP were analyzed for their association with genotypes at ACE2 gene loci. In female hypertensive patients, the genotype frequency of ACE2 rs2106809 was 36.7%, 45.2% and 18.1% for CC, CT and TT genotypes, respectively. After 6 weeks of treatment, the reductions in diastolic blood pressure were significantly greater in female patients carrying the CC or CT genotype compared with those carrying the TT genotype (9.62±6.83 or 10.2±7.2 versus 6.81±6.31 mm Hg, respectively; P=0.045, analysis of variance (ANOVA)). Moreover, the reductions in mean arterial pressure were significantly greater in female patients carrying the CC or CT genotype compared with those carrying the TT genotype (12.1±7.5 or 12.0±7.9 versus 8.38±6.83 mm Hg, respectively; P=0.035, ANOVA). In male hypertensive patients, the genotype frequency of ACE2 rs2106809 was 58.1% and 41.9% for C and T genotypes, respectively. However, no association could be observed in males. We conclude that ACE2 rs2106809 is an important predictive factor of the response to antihypertensive treatment with ACE inhibitors in Chinese female hypertensive patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impacts of clinical, pathological, and laboratory factors on oncological outcomes of patients with T3N0M0 renal cell carcinoma. METHODS The clinical data, laboratory exam results, and follow-up outcomes of 182 patients with T3N0M0 renal cell carcinoma who underwent nephrectomy from 2007 to 2012 in Peking University First Hospital were retrospectively collected. The 5-year cancer-specific survival and 5-year recurrence-free survival of all the patients were calculated using Kaplan-Meier method, and the statistical significance between the survival curves were compared using the Log-rank test. Variables with significant differences in the univariate analysis were subjected to the multivariate analysis by Cox regression model. All the comparisons were conducted using two-tailed test and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS A total of 182 patients were included in this study. Of all the 182 patients, 126 were male (69.23%) and 56 were female (30.77%). The mean age was (56.75±12.45) years. The median follow-up time was 48 months (3-99 months). At the end of the follow-up, 50 patients (27.47%) died due to the disease after a median of 29.74 months and 59 patients (32.42%) had tumor recurrence after a median of 22.12 months. The 5-year cancer-specific survival of all patients was 68.30% (95% CI: 60.16%-75.84%); the 5-year recurrence-free survival was 60.70% (95% CI: 53.16%-68.84%). In the univariate analysis, diabetes mellitus, tumor invasion status, Fuhrman grade, serum album, serum cholestenone, anemia, and neutrophils percentage were associated with the cancer-specific survival and Fuhrman grade, serum album and anemia were associated with the recurrence-free survival. Variables with significant differences on univariate analysis were included in Cox multivariate regression analysis. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that diabetes mellitus (HR=2.434, 95% CI: 1.243-4.769, P=0.010), hypoalbuminemia (HR=2.188, 95% CI: 1.074-1.074, P=0.031), and anemia (HR=3.320, 95% CI: 1.839-5.991, P<0.001) were independent risk factors significantly associated with cancer-specific survival; and higher Fuhrman grade (HR=2.552, 95% CI: 1.433-4.545, P=0.001), anemia (HR=2.535, 95% CI: 1.497-4.293, P=0.001) were independent factors significantly associated with recurrence-free survival. CONCLUSION Diabetes mellitus, hypoalbuminemia, and anemia were independent risk factors significantly associated with cancer-specific survival of T3N0M0 renal cell carcinoma patients; higher Fuhrman grade and anemia were independent risk factors significantly associated with tumor recurrence of T3N0M0 renal cell carcinoma patients.

Abstract
Ionization injection is attractive as a controllable injection scheme for generating high quality electron beams using plasma-based wakefield acceleration. Because of the phase-dependent tunneling ionization rate and the trapping dynamics within a nonlinear wake, the discrete injection of electrons within the wake is nonlinearly mapped to a discrete final phase space structure of the beam at the location where the electrons are trapped. This phenomenon is theoretically analyzed and examined by three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations which show that three-dimensional effects limit the wave number of the modulation to between >2k_{0} and about 5k_{0}, where k_{0} is the wave number of the injection laser. Such a nanoscale bunched beam can be diagnosed by and used to generate coherent transition radiation and may find use in generating high-power ultraviolet radiation upon passage through a resonant undulator.

Abstract
A new method capable of capturing coherent electric field structures propagating at nearly the speed of light in plasma with a time resolution as small as a few femtoseconds is proposed. This method uses a few femtoseconds long relativistic electron bunch to probe the wake produced in a plasma by an intense laser pulse or an ultra-short relativistic charged particle beam. As the probe bunch traverses the wake, its momentum is modulated by the electric field of the wake, leading to a density variation of the probe after free-space propagation. This variation of probe density produces a snapshot of the wake that can directly give many useful information of the wake structure and its evolution. Furthermore, this snapshot allows detailed mapping of the longitudinal and transverse components of the wakefield. We develop a theoretical model for field reconstruction and verify it using 3-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations. This model can accurately reconstruct the wakefield structure in the linear regime, and it can also qualitatively map the major features of nonlinear wakes. The capturing of the injection in a nonlinear wake is demonstrated through 3D PIC simulations as an example of the application of this new method.

Abstract
We describe the soft chemistry synthesis of amine-templated gallium chalcogenide nanotubes through the reaction of gallium(iii) acetylacetonate and the chalcogen (sulfur, selenium) using a mixture of long-chain amines (hexadecylamine and dodecylamine) as a solvent. Beyond their role as solvent, the amines also act as a template, directing the growth of discrete units with a one-dimensional multilayer tubular nanostructure. These new materials, which broaden the family of amine-stabilized gallium chalcogenides, can be tentatively classified as direct large band gap semiconductors. Their preliminary performance as active material for electrodes in lithium ion batteries has also been tested, demonstrating great potential in energy storage field even without optimization.

Abstract
Phase space matching between two plasma-based accelerator (PBA) stages and between a PBA and a traditional accelerator component is a critical issue for emittance preservation. The drastic differences of the transverse focusing strengths as the beam propagates between stages and components may lead to a catastrophic emittance growth even when there is a small energy spread. We propose using the linear focusing forces from nonlinear wakes in longitudinally tailored plasma density profiles to control phase space matching between sections with negligible emittance growth. Several profiles are considered and theoretical analysis and particle-in-cell simulations show how these structures may work in four different scenarios. Good agreement between theory and simulation is obtained, and it is found that the adiabatic approximation misses important physics even for long profiles.

Abstract
The evolution of beam phase space in ionization injection into plasma wakefields is studied using theory and particle-in-cell simulations. The injection process involves both longitudinal and transverse phase mixing, leading initially to a rapid emittance growth followed by oscillation, decay, and a slow growth to saturation. An analytic theory for this evolution is presented and verified through particle-in-cell simulations. This theory includes the effects of injection distance (time), acceleration distance, wakefield structure, and nonlinear space charge forces, and it also shows how ultralow emittance beams can be produced using ionization injection methods.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sister Mary Joseph's nodule (SMJN) is a raised nodule around the umbilicus and is often a clinical sign of metastatic malignancy with poor prognosis. Primary clear cell adenocarcinoma of the peritoneum is rare. Herein the authors describe a case of primary peritoneal clear cell adenocarcinoma presenting with SMJN as an initial sign. CASE A 59-year-old woman was admitted into the present hospital complaining of an enlarged, painful umbilical nodule, and increasing abdominal distention. After the biopsy of the peritoneal nodule, primary clear cell adenocarcinoma of the peritoneum was diagnosed. The patient underwent multiple courses of aggressive chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy and surgery and has survived for more than four years. CONCLUSION Considering that SMJN is a rare sign of visceral malignancies, clinicians should be aware of this rare clinical sign when determining the differential diagnosis. Umbilical metastasis is usually indicates a poor prognosis. However, the present case suggests that long-term survival is possible.

Abstract
The production of ultrabright electron bunches using ionization injection triggered by two transversely colliding laser pulses inside a beam-driven plasma wake is examined via three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations. The relatively low intensity lasers are polarized along the wake axis and overlap with the wake for a very short time. The result is that the residual momentum of the ionized electrons in the transverse plane of the wake is reduced, and the injection is localized along the propagation axis of the wake. This minimizes both the initial thermal emittance and the emittance growth due to transverse phase mixing. Simulations show that ultrashort (~8 fs) high-current (0.4 kA) electron bunches with a normalized emittance of 8.5 and 6 nm in the two planes, respectively, and a brightness of 1.7×10(19) A rad(-2) m(-2) can be obtained for realistic parameters.

Abstract
We report on the investigation of Co and Cu substitution effects on superconductivity and magnetism in Fe(1+y)Te(0.6)Se(0.4) single crystals. The parent Fe(1.01)Te(0.59)Se(0.41) shows a nodeless bulk superconductivity as revealed in heat capacity measurement, which is gradually suppressed by either Co or Cu doping. It is found that the Co or Cu doping mainly serves as scatterers rather than charge carrier doping, which is in agreement with the DFT calculation (2010 Phys. Rev. Lett. 105 157004) reported by Wadati et al. In comparison with Cu doping, Co doping shows a stronger influence on magnetism while a less evident suppression effect on superconductivity. Upon substitution of Co for Fe, a Schottky heat capacity anomaly develops gradually at low temperatures, implying the existence of a paramagnetic moment in the Co-doped samples. In contrast, Cu doping may mainly serve as non-magnetic scatterers, where no Schottky anomaly is observed.

Abstract
The activation energy to reaction is a key quantity that controls catalytic activity. Having used ab inito calculations to determine an extensive and broad ranging set of activation energies and enthalpy changes for surface-catalyzed reactions, we show that linear relationships exist between dissociation activation energies and enthalpy changes. Known in the literature as empirical Brønsted-Evans-Polanyi (BEP) relationships, we identify and discuss the physical origin of their presence in heterogeneous catalysis. The key implication is that merely from knowledge of adsorption energies the barriers to catalytic elementary reaction steps can be estimated.

Abstract
We have performed density functional theory calculations with the generalized gradient approximation to investigate CO oxidation on a close-packed transition metal surface, Pd(111), and a more open surface, Pd(100), aiming to shed light on surface structure effects on reaction pathways and reactivity, an important issue in catalysis. Reaction pathways on both surfaces at two different coverages have been studied. It is found that the reaction pathways on both surfaces possess crucial common features despite the fact that they have different surface symmetries. Having determined reaction barriers in these systems, we find that the reaction on Pd(111) is strongly coverage dependent. Surface coverages, however, have little effect on the reaction on Pd(100). Calculations also reveal that the low coverage reactions are structure sensitive while the medium coverage reactions are not. Detailed discussions on these results are given.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the expression and the change of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its acceptor KDR during the early stage of maxillofacial blast injury. To evaluate the effect of VEGF on traumatic wound healing. METHODS The rabbit model of maxillofacial blast injury was made by KTY-04 blasting cap. The expression of VEGF and KDR in wound tissue was determined by ABC immunohistochemistry of 6 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 5 days, and 7 days after injury. The results were compared with preinjury groups. RESULTS In the wound tissue of the maxillofacial blast injury, the expression of VEGF rose steadily during the first week after the injury. Compared with normal tissue, the wound tissue showed differences by the first day after injury, and showed significant differences by the third day (P < 0.01). The differences reached a peak at the seventh day after injury. The expression of KDR showed no difference within 3 days after injury when compared to normal tissue. Between 5 and 7 days after injury, the protein was more strongly expressed. CONCLUSION The stage of the VEGF expression at the maxillofacial blast injury site is similar to the angiopoietic stage during would healing, and KDR expression also occurs during that period. VEGF takes part in angiogenic cascades of traumatic wound healing and is produced as an auxiliary action to the regeneration of blood vessels.

Abstract
Arf proteins are ubiquitous, eukaryotic regulators of virtually every step of vesicular membrane traffic. ADP-ribosylation factors are essential in yeast and the lethality resulting from either overexpression or underexpression (deletion) of Arf genes has previously been ascribed to dysregulation of the secretory process. We have identified a family of four genes (Suppressors of Arf ts, SAT) as high copy suppressors of a loss of function allele of ARF1 (arf1-3). Those proteins with SAT activity were found to contain a minimal consensus motif, including a C2C2H2 cluster with a novel and specific spacing. Genetic interactions between members of this family and with ARF1 are consistent with each sharing a common cellular pathway. Included in this family is Gcs1, a protein previously described (Poon, P. P., Wang, X., Rotman, M., Huber, I., Cukierman, E., Cassel, D., Singer, R. A., and Johnston, G. C. (1996) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A. 93, 10074-10077) to possess Arf GTPase-activating protein (GAP) activity, demonstrating a direct interaction between Arf and at least one of these suppressors. The suppression of the loss of Arf function by overexpression of Gcs1 and demonstration of direct, preferential binding of Gcs1 to the activated form of Arf (Arf.GTP) lead us to conclude that the biological role of Gcs1 is as an effector of the essential function of Arf in mitotic growth, rather than a down-regulator as implied by the biochemical (Arf GAP) activity. Suppression of the growth defect of arf1(-3) cells was observed under conditions that did not alter the secretory defect associated with arf1(-) mutation, indicating that the essential role of Arf in eukaryotes can be distinguished from role(s) in the secretory pathway and appear to employ distinct pathways and effectors.

Abstract
TMJ osteoarthrosis(OA) is frequently seen in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinics.In order to investigate cellular and molecular basis of the pathogenesis of TMJOA,the levels of IL-1 and IL-6 in synovial aspirates from different stages of TMJOA patients were determined and analysed.It was found that both of them were highly correlated with the severity of TMJOA(P<0.0001).A positive linear correlation was also found between IL-1 and IL-6(P<0.0001).The balance and imbalance between MMPs and TIMPS and the modulatory mechanism of cytokines were introduced and their possible roles in the pathogenesis of TMJOA were discussed.

Abstract
The polybutylcyanoacrylate nanoparticles of 3H-labeled gentamicin were prepared in order to investigate the possibility of gentamicin nanoparticles as an intracellular drug delivery system for intracellular chemotherapy. The 3H-labeled gentamicin nanoparticles were incubated with mouse peritoneal macrophage (MPM) or rat hepatocytes (RH) for some period, then the cells were separated from the nanoparticles, and finally the radioactivity (cpm) of 3H in the cells were measured by a liquid scintillation counter. By comparison with the solution of 3H-labeled gentamicin, a 6.34 times increase of cpm value in MPM after 30 min incubation, and 27.74, 9.03 and 8.36 times increase of MPM values in RH after 1, 12, and 24 h incubation respectively, were observed by binding gentamicin with polybutylcyanoacrylate nanoparticles. The particle size, surfactant coating, stabilizer and the gentamicin concentration were found to have some effect on the uptake of nanoparticles by two kinds of cells. This study provided a basis for the screening of intracellular drug delivery system.

Abstract
Wild type and eight point mutants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae ARF1 were expressed in yeast and bacteria to determine the roles of specific residues in in vivo and in vitro activities. Mutations at either Gly2 or Asp26 resulted in recessive loss of function. It was concluded that N-myristoylation is required for Arf action in cells but not for either nucleotide exchange or cofactor activities in vitro. Asp26 (homologous to Gly12 of p21ras) was essential for the binding of the activating nucleotide, guanosine 5'-3-O-(thio)triphosphate. This is in marked contrast to results obtained after mutagenesis of the homologous residue in p21ras or Gs alpha, and suggests a fundamental difference in the guanine nucleotide binding site of Arf with respect to these other GTP-binding proteins. Two dominant alleles were also identified, one activating dominant ([Q71L]Arf1) and the other ([N126I]) a negative dominant. A conditional allele, [W66R]Arf1, was characterized and shown to have approximately 300-fold lower specific activity in an in vitro Arf assay. Two high-copy suppressors of this conditional phenotype were cloned and sequenced. One of these suppressors, SFS4, was found to be identical to PBS2/HOG4, recently shown to encode a microtubule-associated protein kinase kinase in yeast.

Abstract
Shoot cultures of Allium sativum L. were established from stem-tip and scape-tip. Various combinations of media, growth regulators were compared. The best establishment and proliferation of stem-tip and scape-tip explants were obtained on MS medium containing 0.5 mg l(-1) NAA and 0.5 mg l(-1) KT. The roots were produced and the bulblets were formed after the micro-shoots were transferred to the hormone-free MS medium. The virus of each tube-plant was detected by ELISA. The virus elimination rates of plantlets from stem-tip with 3 leaf primordia, with 1-2 leaf primordia, and scape-up were 26.5%, 45.4%, and 77.6% respectively. The procedure of scape-tip culture would be applied for virus elimination to the species propagated vegetatively.

Abstract
High percentages of micro-calli and micro-derived embryos were produced from isolated asparagus microspores at late uninucleate stage on MS liquid medium supplemented with 1.0 mg l(-1) 2,4-D and 0.5 mg l(-1) BA. Two types of calli, namely compact callus (CC) and loose callus (LC), were found. Plantlets were regenerated via organogenesis, when these calli were transferred onto MS solid medium supplemented with 1.0 mg l(-1) BA and 0.2 mg l(-1) IBA 6 weeks. Embryos were produced from liquid cultured microspores, or from solid cultured micro-calli. The frequencies of haploid plant production from organogenesis and embryogenesis were compared. Effects of plant growth regulators on callus production, plantlet regeneration, and haploid plant production were tested. The combination of BA 1.0 mg l(-1) and IBA 0.2 mg l(-1) resulted the highest precentage of haploid plant production (7.7% from CC, 4.3% from LC).
