Abstract
Neuro-inspired vision systems hold great promise to address the growing demands of mass data processing for edge computing, a distributed framework that brings computation and data storage closer to the sources of data. In addition to the capability of static image sensing and processing, the hardware implementation of a neuro-inspired vision system also requires the fulfilment of detecting and recognizing moving targets. Here, we demonstrated a neuro-inspired optical sensor based on two-dimensional NbS2/MoS2 hybrid films, which featured remarkable photo-induced conductance plasticity and low electrical energy consumption. A neuro-inspired optical sensor array with 10 × 10 NbS2/MoS2 phototransistors enabled highly integrated functions of sensing, memory, and contrast enhancement capabilities for static images, which benefits convolutional neural network (CNN) with a high image recognition accuracy. More importantly, in-sensor trajectory registration of moving light spots was experimentally implemented such that the post-processing could yield a high restoration accuracy. Our neuro-inspired optical sensor array could provide a fascinating platform for the implementation of high-performance artificial vision systems.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) layered semiconductors with nonlinear optical (NLO) properties hold great promise to address the growing demand of multifunction integration in electronic-photonic integrated circuits (EPICs). However, electronic-photonic co-design with 2D NLO semiconductors for on-chip telecommunication is limited by their essential shortcomings in terms of unsatisfactory optoelectronic properties, odd-even layer-dependent NLO activity and low NLO susceptibility in telecom band. Here we report the synthesis of 2D SnP2Se6, a van der Waals NLO semiconductor exhibiting strong odd-even layer-independent second harmonic generation (SHG) activity at 1550 nm and pronounced photosensitivity under visible light. The combination of 2D SnP2Se6 with a SiN photonic platform enables the chip-level multifunction integration for EPICs. The hybrid device not only features efficient on-chip SHG process for optical modulation, but also allows the telecom-band photodetection relying on the upconversion of wavelength from 1560 to 780 nm. Our finding offers alternative opportunities for the collaborative design of EPICs.

Abstract
In this study, we utilize a photo-active Ir-metalloligand, Ir(C^N)2(L) (C^N = 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl) pyridine, L = [2,2'-bipyridine]-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid), to assemble with CdX2 under hydrothermal conditions, yielding highly emissive crystals of two-dimensional metal-organic frameworks (2D MOFs) (named Ir-Cd2X2, X = Cl, Br). The Ir-Cd2X2 MOFs exhibit μs-level phosphorescence lifetimes and more than 55% quantum yield (QY) at room temperature because of the rigid framework connected by Cd2X2 clusters. By immersing Ir-Cd2X2 in water solution for 5 min, a new MOF (Ir-Cd) was obtained, which is given a structure with hydrolyzed Cd-nodes by complete removal of halogen bridges as elucidated by single-crystal diffraction. Although the phosphorescence emission of pristine CdX2 MOFs exhibits oxygen quenching resistance, the converted Ir-Cd MOF possesses sensitively oxygen-responsive 3MLCT properties, showing a KSV value as high as 14.5 with strictly linear relation (R2 = 0.995). This work differs from the traditional method for improving oxygen-sensing metrics by enhancing QY and phosphorescence lifetime in Ir complexes, while also demonstrating that the transformation in the surrounding coordination environment on adjacent metal centers can also constitute key factors for improved photoluminescence stability or responsive properties in Ir-based heteronuclear MOFs, providing clues for the development of either oxygen quenching blockers or sensors suitable for different occasions.

Abstract
2D van der Waals (vdW) semiconductors hold great potentials for more-than-Moore field-effect transistors (FETs), and the efficient utilization of their theoretical performance requires compatible high-k dielectrics to guarantee the high gate coupling efficiency. The deposition of traditional high-k dielectric oxide films on 2D materials usually generates interface concerns, thereby causing the carrier scattering and degeneration of device performance. Here, utilizing a space-confined epitaxy growth approach, the authors successfully obtained air-stable ultrathin indium phosphorus sulfide (In2 P3 S9 ) nanosheets, the thickness of which can be scaled down to monolayer limit (≈0.69 nm) due to its layered structure. 2D In2 P3 S9 exhibits excellent insulating properties, with a high dielectric constant (≈24) and large breakdown voltage (≈8.1 MV cm-1 ) at room temperature. Serving as gate insulator, ultrathin In2 P3 S9 nanosheet can be integrated into MoS2 FETs with high-quality dielectric/semiconductor interface, thus providing a competitive electrical performance of device with subthreshold swings (SS) down to 88 mV dec-1 and a high ON/OFF ratio of 105 . This study proves an important strategy to prepare 2D vdW high-k dielectrics, and greatly facilitates the ongoing research of 2D materials for functional electronics.

Abstract
Materials with tunable long persistent luminescence (LPL) properties have wide applications in security signs, anti-counterfeiting, data encrypting, and other fields. However, the majority of reported tunable LPL materials are pure organic molecules or polymers. Herein, a series of metal-organic coordination polymers displaying color-tunable LPL were synthesized by the self-assembly of HTzPTpy ligand with different cadmium halides (X=Cl, Br, and I). In the solid state, their LPL emission colors can be tuned by the time-evolution, as well as excitation and temperature variation, realizing multi-mode dynamic color tuning from green to yellow or green to red, and are the first such examples in single-component coordination polymer materials. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and theoretical calculations reveal that the modification of LPL is due to the balanced action from single molecule and aggregate triplet excited states caused by an external heavy-atom effect. The results show that the rational introduction of different halide anions into coordination polymers can realize multi-color LPL.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with long persistent luminescence (LPL) have attracted widespread attention due to potential applications in displays, anticounterfeiting, and so on. However, MOFs often have large pore size, which restricts the formation of efficient inter- and intramolecular interactions to realize LPL. Herein, a new approach to achieving LPL in MOFs by multifold interpenetration of discrete frameworks is reported. By comparison between threefold- and twofold-interpenetrating MOFs, it was found that the former, which have higher multiplicity and denser frameworks, can be endowed with enhanced inter- and intramolecular interactions, and thus enhanced LPL is obtained. Meanwhile, metal-cluster and heavy-halogen effects could also cause variations in LPL duration and color.

Abstract
Bipodal ligand 5,15-bis(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (H[Formula: see text]DCPP) was designed and synthesized. By adjusting the molar ratio of H[Formula: see text]DCPP, ancillary ligand 4,4-bipyridine (bpy) and zinc acetate salts, three novel coordination assemblies, namely, zero-dimensional dimeric [Zn[Formula: see text](H[Formula: see text]DCPP)[Formula: see text] ·bpy] ·4H[Formula: see text]O ·4DMF (Zn-D), two-dimensional polymeric {[Zn[Formula: see text](DCPP) ·bpy[Formula: see text] ·H[Formula: see text]O ·DMF[Formula: see text]] ·solvent}[Formula: see text] (Zn-2D), and three-dimensional polymeric [Zn[Formula: see text](DCPP) ·bpy[Formula: see text]][Formula: see text] (Zn-3D) were assembled. Due to the delicate integration of multiple chromophores in the coordination space combining bpy, DCPP and MLCT emissions together, photoluminescence (PL) of the three porphyrin-zinc coordination assemblies differ from each other and color tone is tunable from blue to orange with changes of the excitation wavelength. In particular, white light emission (WLE) can be observed by the excitation of 270 to 290 nm, representing the first examples of single component WLE compounds based on porphyrin ligands. Furthermore, temperature-dependent luminescence results in a linear [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] relationship in Zn-2D and Zn-3D assemblies, applicable for long wavelength red-emitting thermometers.

Abstract
Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa (DEB-Pr) is a rare subtype of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB). This disease is characterized by severe itching, lichenoid nodules or prurigo-like lesions, and linear scarring with a predilection for the extensor limbs. Pathogenic mutations in the type VII collagen alpha 1 (COL7A1) gene have been identified. We analyzed mutations in the COL7A1 gene in a Chinese family including 5 affected individuals with typical DEB-Pr and in a patient previously reported with sporadic DEB-Pr. The entire coding region and exon-intron boundaries of COL7A1 were detected by polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing. We identified one novel heterozygote mutation (c.6842G>T, p.G2281V) and a second mutation (c.5443G>A, p.G1815R) reported previously in patients with DEB. Our findings contribute to the COL7A1 mutation database and further reveal the genetic and phenotypic heterogeneity of DEB-Pr.

Application of (15)N- (18)O double stable isotope tracer technique in an agricultural nonpoint polluted river of the Yangtze Delta Region. Abstract
One strategy to combat nitrate (NO3-N) contamination in rivers is to understand its sources. NO3-N sources in the East Tiaoxi River of the Yangtze Delta Region were investigated by applying a (15)N-(18)O dual isotope approach. Water samples were collected from the main channel and from the tributaries. Results show that high total N and NO3-N are present in both the main channel and the major tributaries, and NO3-N was one of the most important N forms in water. Analysis of isotopic compositions (δ (18)O, δD) of water suggests that the river water mainly originated from three tributaries during the sampling period. There was a wide range of δ (15)N-NO3 (-1.4 to 12.4 ‰) and a narrow range of δ (18)O-NO3 (3.7 to 9.0 ‰) in the main channel waters. The δ (15)N and δ (18)O-NO3 values in the upper, middle, and lower channels along the river were shifted as 8.2, 3.5, and 9.5 ‰, and 9.0, 4.2, and 6.0 ‰, respectively. In the tributary South Tiao, the δ (15)N and δ (18)O-NO3 values were as high as 9.5 and 7.0 ‰, while in the tributaries Mid Tiao and North Tiao, NO3-N in most of the samples had relatively low δ (15)N and δ (18)O-NO3 values from 2.3 to 7.5 ‰ and 4.7 to 7.0 ‰, separately. Our results also suggest that the dual isotope approach can help us develop the best management practice for relieving NO3-N pollution in the rivers at the tributary scale.

Abstract
Dyschromatosis symmetrica hereditaria (DSH) is an autosomal dominant pigmentary genodermatosis, characterized by a mixture of hyperpigmented and hypopigmented macules that are mainly present on the dorsal portions of the extremities. The DSH locus was mapped to chromosome 1q11-q12 and, subsequently, pathogenic mutations in the double-stranded RNA-specific adenosine deaminase (ADAR1) gene were identified. We performed a mutational analysis of the ADAR1 gene in a Chinese family that included three individuals affected with typical DSH phenotypes. Mutations within the entire coding region and the exon-intron boundaries of ADAR1 were detected and confirmed by polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing, respectively. An insertion mutation within exon 12, c.3035_3036insC (p.P1012fsX1017), was identified in all family members affected by DSH, but not in the healthy members or 100 unrelated controls. This finding improves our understanding of the role of ADAR1 in DSH.

Effects of Brussels sprouts extracts on hydrogen peroxide-induced DNA strand breaks in human lymphocytes. Food Chem Toxicol 2001; 39:1191-7. Abstract
Aqueous Brussels sprouts extracts inhibit oxidation of isolated DNA in vitro, possibly through scavenging oxygen radicals. We have studied the effect of preincubating human lymphocytes with aqueous extracts of raw, cooked and autolysed Brussels sprouts and the glucosinolate, sinigrin, on hydrogen peroxide-induced DNA damage, strand breaks and base oxidation, in vitro by means of the Comet assay. DNA repair enzymes endonuclease III (EndoIII) and formamidopyrimidine-DNA glycosylase (FPG) were used to examine the levels of oxidised pyrimidines and purines in DNA, respectively. Aqueous extracts of cooked and autolysed Brussels sprouts and sinigrin decreased DNA strand breaks in human lymphocytes exposed to 100 microM H2O2 for 5 min on ice, although the level of EndoIII and FPG sensitive sites was not reduced. The maximum inhibition was by 38 and 39% at concentrations of cooked and autolysed extracts of 10 microg/ml and 5 microg/ml, respectively, whereas the inhibitory effect decreased with increasing concentrations up to 100 microg/ml. The maximum inhibition by sinigrin was by 54% at 2 microg/ml. Extracts of raw Brussels sprouts or green beans had no DNA-protective effect. The results indicate that compounds, including sinigrin, in cooked and autolysed Brussels sprouts can enhance lymphocyte resistance towards H2O2-induced DNA strand breaks in vitro.

Differential regulation of primary response gene expression in skeletal muscle cells through multiple signal transduction pathways. BIOCHIMICA ET BIOPHYSICA ACTA 1995; 1266:91-100. Abstract
One of the earliest cellular responses to growth factors is the rapid induction of primary response genes. One group of such genes was originally isolated as tetradecanoyl phorbol acetate (TPA) inducible sequences (TIS genes) from mouse 3T3 cells. Proteins encoded by the TIS genes include two transcription factors: TIS8 (also known as egr1/NGFIA/zif268) and TIS1 (also known as NGFIB/nur77/N10). We have examined the inducibility of these two genes in a skeletal muscle cell line in response to agents that have been reported to block muscle differentiation. We report here that basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) induced the expression of both TIS1 and TIS8 in mouse C2C12cells. Both genes were also inducible by TPA while forskolin which activates the cAMP-dependent pathway induced TIS1 but not TIS8. Down-regulation of protein kinase C (PKC) activity by TPA pretreatment repressed the bFGF induction of TIS1 but had little effect on the bFGF-stimulated expression of TIS8. Moreover, while both TPA and bFGF stimulated the hyperphosphorylation of c-RAF and the activity of MAP kinase, TPA pretreatment failed to block RAF phosphorylation or the stimulation of MAP kinase activity by bFGF. Induction of the two TIS genes in skeletal myoblasts therefore appeared to be dependent to different extents on the activation of protein kinase A (PKA), PKC and MAP kinase.

Epidemiological study on hypothermia in newborns. Chin Med J (Engl) 1993; 106:428-32. [PMID: 8222894] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 01/29/2023] Open
Abstract
A study on the incidence and high risk factors of hypothermia in the newborn was carried out in a period of four months (Nov. 1988-Feb. 1989) in 6 counties of 3 provinces. Totally 14,809 newborns were studied, in whom 100 cases were found to be ill with sclerema, having an incidence of 6.7%. Gestational age, body weight, low room temperature, improper methods of thermopreservation during delivery and asphyxia are determined as the most probable high risk factors, in which gestational age and body weight are negatively correlated with the contraction of the disease. It suggests that the prevention of prematurity and asphyxia, and promotion of thermopreservation during delivery should be helpful in preventing sclerema of newborns.

Increased tyrosine kinase activity in pp60c-src immunoprecipitate from platelet activating factor stimulated human platelets: in vitro phosphorylation of a synthetic peptide. Life Sci 1993; 53:175-83. Abstract
The involvement of pp60c-src tyrosine kinase was studied in human platelets stimulated with platelet activating factor (PAF). Immunoprecipitation of pp60c-src from platelets followed by immunoblot with pp60v-src monoclonal antibody revealed four protein bands of 60, 56, 50 and 29 kDa as detected by enzymographic web. The phosphorylation of these bands was increased in the pp60c-src immunoprecipitate from PAF stimulated platelets. To assay the tyrosine kinase activity, we used a 13 amino acid synthetic peptide (Arg-Arg-Leu-Ile-Glu-Asp-Ala-Glu-Tyr-Ala-Ala-Arg- Gly) which contains sequences similar to the phosphorylation site on pp60c-src. Incubation of the pp60c-src immunoprecipitate with the peptide and [32P]ATP caused phosphorylation of this peptide in vitro. This peptide phosphorylation was not observed when normal mouse IgG-bound protein(s) was used instead of pp60c-src immunoprecipitate. The peptide phosphorylation was markedly increased by pp60c-src immunoprecipitate obtained from PAF treated platelets. Lyso-PAF had no effect on the phosphorylation. PAF antagonists CV-6209 and WEB-2086 blocked PAF stimulated phosphorylation. This indicated structurally specific and PAF receptor dependency of this response. These results provide direct evidence that PAF stimulation of human platelets increased tyrosine kinase activity in pp60c-src immunoprecipitate.

Abstract
The contribution of gastrointestinal tract (GIT), liver, and lung towards the first-pass metabolism of acetaminophen was examined using 3-week-old, 10-week-old and 1-year-old rats after administration of 30 mg kg-1 doses by intra-arterial, intravenous, intraperitoneal, and oral routes. Plasma concentrations of acetaminophen and its two major metabolites, acetaminophen glucuronide and acetaminophen sulfate, were measured for about 5h after drug administration. Total oral extraction of acetaminophen was extensive in 10-week-old and 1-year-old rats (Eo = 0.46) and the major contribution to the overall first-pass metabolism was due to the GIT (Eg = 0.50-0.53). Oral extraction in 3-week-old rats was minimal (Eo = 0.10) and there did not appear to be an extraction by the GIT (Eg = 0.00). These results suggest that the ability of GIT to metabolize acetaminophen to glucuronide and sulfate is undeveloped in the infant rats. No changes in the contribution of different organs to the first-pass metabolism of acetaminophen was observed 10 weeks after birth. Pharmacokinetic parameters for acetaminophen in infant rats (3-week-old) and 10-week-old rats were similar after drug administration by the intra-arterial and intravenous routes.

Abstract
The study on the first-pass metabolism of acetaminophen was carried out in normal and thyroxine-treated rats, administered 30 mg/kg by three routes of intravenous, intraperitoneal, and oral one. Unconjugated acetaminophen and two major metabolites, glucuronide and sulfate in the plasma and urine were then measured 5 and 24 h after the administration, respectively. It was found that there was no difference in total percentage of excreted amount, independent of the routes for administration, between normal and thyroxine-treated rats. This fact shows that acetaminophen is absorbed completely from the gastrointestinal tract. However, it was also found that the extraction ratio of gastrointestinal tract in thyroxine-treated rats became smaller, and that the volume of distribution and total body clearance became larger than those in normal rats. The first-pass metabolism of acetaminophen was found to be influenced by the continuous administration of thyroxine.

Abstract
The first-pass metabolism of acetaminophen was examined in rats after the administration of 15, 30, 150, and 300 mg kg-1 doses by intra-arterial, intravenous, portal vein, and oral routes. Plasma concentrations of acetaminophen and its two major metabolites, acetaminophen glucuronide and acetaminophen sulfate, were measured for about 5 h after drug administration. The first-pass effect after oral administration (oral extraction) was extensive (Eo = 0.34-0.50) at all doses administered. Calculation of the relative contribution of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and lung to the oral extraction of acetaminophen indicated that the major contribution was due to the gastrointestinal tract at all doses studied (Eg = 0.33-0.50). At higher doses (150 and 300 mg kg-1) clearance was lower possibly due to the saturation of acetaminophen sulfate formation. However, even at these high doses, the contribution of the gastrointestinal mucosa to the oral extraction remained unchanged. Therefore, it appears that the apparent dose-dependent characteristics of acetaminophen metabolism may be due to the saturation of acetaminophen sulfate formation in the liver.
