Abstract
Single-crystal lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide (SC-NMC) is attracting increasing attention due to its excellent structural stability. However, its practical production faces challenges associated with complex precursor preparation processes and severe lithium-nickel cation mixing at high temperatures, which restricts its widespread application. Here, a molten-salt-assisted method is proposed using low-melting-point carbonates. This method obviates the necessity for precursor processes and simplified the synthetic procedure for SC-NMC down to a single isothermal sintering step. Multiple characterizations indicate that the acquired SC-LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2 (SC-622) exhibits favorable structural capability against intra-granular fracture and suppressive Li+/Ni2+ cation mixing. Consequently, the SC-622 exhibits superior electrochemical performance with a high initial specific capacity (174 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C, 3.0-4.3 V) and excellent capacity retention (87.5% after 300 cycles at 1C). Moreover, this molten-salt-assisted method exhibits its effectiveness in directly regenerating SC-622 from spent NMC materials. The recovered material delivered a capacity of 125.4 mAh g-1 and retained 99.4% of the initial capacity after 250 cycles at 1 C. This work highlights the importance of understanding the process-structure-property relationships and can broadly guide the synthesis of other SC Ni-rich cathode materials.

Abstract
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) catalysis provides the most promising avenue for producing value-added chemicals and consumables from renewable precursors. Over the last decades, PEC catalysis, including reduction of renewable feedstock, oxidation of organics, and activation and functionalization of C─C and C─H bonds, are extensively investigated, opening new opportunities for employing the technology in upgrading readily available resources. However, several challenges still remain unsolved, hindering the commercialization of the process. This review offers an overview of PEC catalysis targeted at the synthesis of high-value chemicals from sustainable precursors. First, the fundamentals of evaluating PEC reactions in the context of value-added product synthesis at both anode and cathode are recalled. Then, the common photoelectrode fabrication methods that have been employed to produce thin-film photoelectrodes are highlighted. Next, the advancements are systematically reviewed and discussed in the PEC conversion of various feedstocks to produce highly valued chemicals. Finally, the challenges and prospects in the field are presented. This review aims at facilitating further development of PEC technology for upgrading several renewable precursors to value-added products and other pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
Heterogeneous electrocatalysis closely relies on the electronic structure of the catalytic materials. The ferroelectric-to-paraelectric phase transition of the materials also involves a change in the state of electrons that could impact the electrocatalytic activity, but such correlation remains unexplored. Here, we demonstrate experimentally and theoretically that the intrinsic electrocatalytic activity could be regulated as exampled by hydrogen evolution reaction catalysis over two-dimensional ferroelectric CuInP2S6. The obvious discontinuity in the overpotential and apparent activation energy values for CuInP2S6 electrode are illustrated during the ferroelectric-to-paraelectric phase transition caused by copper displacement around Tc point (318 K), revealing the ferroelectro-catalytic effect on thermodynamics and kinetics of electrocatalysis. When loading Pt single atom on the CuInP2S6, the paraelectric phase one showed an improved hydrogen evolution activity with smaller apparent activation energy over the ferroelectric phase counterpart. This is attributed to the copper hopping between two sulfur planes, which alternate between strong and weak H adsorption at the Pt sites to simultaneously promote H+ reactant adsorption and H2 product desorption.

Abstract
The combination of microwave ablation (MWA) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) presents a promising strategy for complete eradication of residual tumor after MWA. However, it remains challenging and urgent to develop a facile, biocompatible, and imaging-guided platform for the achievement of this goal. Herein, a minimalist manganese hydrogel (ALG-Mn hydrogel) is proposed for synergistic MWA and CDT to completely eradicate tumor in vivo. The ALG-Mn hydrogel is prepared using a simple mixing method and exhibits excellent syringeability, remarkable microwave sensitivity, and potent Fenton-like activity. By assisting in MWA procedures, the ALG-Mn hydrogel enables both elimination of primary tumor mass through enhanced MWA efficacy and eradication of potential residual tumor tissues via robust CDT. This approach achieves complete tumor clearance without additional drug loading. Furthermore, the paramagnetic Mn2+ component allows real-time dynamic visualization of the ALG-Mn hydrogel at the tumor site via magnetic resonance imaging. To the best of knowledge, the proposed ALG-Mn hydrogel represents the minimalist biocompatible platform for imaging-guided synergistic MWA and CDT toward achieving complete tumor clearance.

Abstract
RNA m6 methyladenosine (m6A) modifications impact tumor biology and immune processes, particularly in hepatocellular malignant tumors. Using a consensus clustering algorithm on 371 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) samples, we identified three m6A-modified subtypes and correlated them with positive tumor microenvironment (TME) markers for distinct immune phenotypes. Stratifying patients based on m6A scores revealed a low presentation group with better immune penetration, lower tumor mutation load, and increased expression of immune checkpoint markers like CTLA-4 and PD-1, suggesting enhanced responsiveness to immunization therapy. A machine-learning model of 23 m6A genes was constructed. Single-cell analysis revealed a surprising enrichment of IGFBP3 in astrocytes, prompting the exploration of associated signaling pathways. Experimental verification shows that IGFBP3 is significantly enhanced in normal tissues, while immunohistochemical analysis shows that its expression is lower in tumor tissues, indicating its protective effect in HCC and a good prognosis. Importantly, high IGFBP3 expression is associated with better outcomes in patients receiving immunotherapy. Moreover, cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) experiments have confirmed that high expression of IGFBP3 is associated with stronger T cell-killing ability. In summary, the comprehensive evaluation of m6A modification, immune characteristics, and single-cell analysis in this study not only revealed the TME of HCC but also made significant contributions to the progress of personalized HCC immunotherapy targeting IGFBP3. This study provides a solid theoretical foundation for clinical translation and emphasizes its potential impact on developing effective treatment strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) on platelet count (PLT) and liver function in acute liver failure (ALF) rats by observing the dynamic changes of PLT, thrombopoietin (TPO) and liver function during ALF. METHODS Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into model group, TPO group and interleukin-11 (IL-11) group using a random number table method, with eight rats in each group. All rats were intraperitoneally injected with D-galactosamine (D-GalN, 1 500 mg/kg, dosed within 72 hours) to induce the ALF model. After modeling, rats in TPO group was received subcutaneous injection of 15 μg/kg of rhTPO for 5 days, and rats in IL-11 group was received subcutaneous injection of 0.45 mg/kg of IL-11 for 5 days. Venous blood samples were collected before and at 1, 3, 5, 7 and 12 days after molding for whole blood cell detection. The level of TPO in serum was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Liver function indexes including serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total bilirubin (TBil) and albumin (ALB) were measured before and at 1, 3 and 5 days after modeling. The rats were sacrificed 12 days after the modeling, and the pathological changes of liver tissue were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. RESULTS Two rats in each group died within 24-48 hours after modeling. HE staining showed that all three groups of ALF rats showed large flake necrosis of hepatocytes, disorder of hepatic lobular structure, mesh scaffold collapse, hepatic sinus congestion and hemorrhage, and flake infiltration of inflammatory cells on day 12 after modeling. The levels of serum ALT, AST and TBil of rats in each group were significantly increased 1 day after modeling and then decreased. The level of ALB decreased significantly on the first day after modeling and then increased, but there was no significant difference in the trend of liver function indexes among the three groups. PLT in the three groups decreased rapidly on day 1 after modeling, and then recovered gradually with the improvement of liver function. The PLT of the TPO group rose to the peak value 7 days after molding and was significantly higher than that of the model group [PLT (×109/L): 1 673.3±347.5 vs. 855.3±447.0, P < 0.05], while there was no significant difference between the IL-11 group and the model group [PLT (×109/L): 1 350.3±386.6 vs. 855.3±447.0, P > 0.05]. The level of serum TPO of the three groups increased significantly on day 1 after modeling, then decreased, and dropped to the lowest value on day 5, but there was no significant difference in the trend of serum TPO level among the three groups. CONCLUSIONS PLT in ALF rats decreased rapidly in the early stage and recovered gradually with the improvement of liver function, and the serum TPO level increased first and then decreased. Injection of rhTPO can significantly increase PLT in ALF rats, but has no significant effect on liver function and survival rate.

Abstract
Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a serious disease in medical settings, and gut dysbiosis is a major contributor to its development. Polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei Murill (ABM) showed a range of pharmacological activities, yet no studies assessed the potential of ABM polysaccharides for alleviating intestinal I/R injury. Here, we purified a major polysaccharide (ABP1) from an ABM fruit body and subsequently tested its potential to mitigate intestinal I/R injury in a mouse model of temporary superior mesenteric artery occlusion. The results reveal that ABP1 pretreatment enhances gut barrier function via upregulation of the expression of tight junction proteins such as ZO-1 and occludin. Additionally, ABP1 intervention reduces the recruitment of neutrophils and the polarization of M1 macrophages and limits inflammation by blocking the assembly of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Moreover, the role of ABP1 in regulating the gut microbiota was confirmed via antibiotic treatment. The omics data reveals that ABP1 reprograms gut microbiota compositions, characterized by a decrease of Proteobacteria and an increase of Lachnospiraceae and Lactobacillaceae, especially the SCFA-producing genera such as Ligilactobacillus and Blautia. Overall, this work highlights the therapeutic potential of ABP1 against intestinal I/R injury, which mainly exhibits its effects via regulating the gut microbiota and suppressing the overactivated inflammation response.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It has been found that a variety of host disease states can exacerbate intestinal inflammation, leading to disruption of intestinal barrier function. Changes in the composition of the intestine microbiota, which affect downstream metabolites in turn, ultimately react against the host. OBJECTIVES We revealed the mechanism of berberine as an intestinal protective agent in rats with renal ischemia-reperfusion injury acute kidney injury (AKI). METHODS HE staining was performed to evaluate the pathological changes in the colon and kidney. 16 S rRNA analysis was performed to assess the intestinal microbiota. Intestine TLR4/NF-κB expression was assessed by western blot. Q-RT-PCR was performed to detect TLR4 in intestine and IL-6 and KIM-1 gene expression in the kidney. SPSS 22.0 was used to compare the data. RESULTS Rats with AKI exhibited increased relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes and decreased relative abundances of Lactobacillus, Ruminococcus and Lachnospiraceae belonging to the phylum Firmicutes. The Sirt1-NF-κB-TLR4 pathway was involved in the occurrence process, accompanied by intestinal inflammation and oxidation. Berberine reversed the appeal change. CONCLUSION Berberine inhibits the intestinal biological barrier of Proteobacteria, reduces LPS production, exerts an anti-inflammatory effect, and delays the progression of AKI.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the status of, differences in, and factors influencing quality of life (QoL) in patients with chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Methods: From September 2021 to February 2023, a cross-sectional study of 140 patients with chronic GVHD was conducted at our center. Symptom burden was assessed by the Lee Symptomatology Scale (LSS), and QoL was assessed by the Medical Outcome Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) (version 1) and five-level EuroQoL five-dimensional questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L). Results: Data from 140 respondents, including 32 (22.9%) with mild chronic GVHD, 87 (62.1%) with moderate chronic GVHD, and 21 (15.0%) with severe chronic GVHD, were analyzed. Of the respondents, 61.4% were male, and the median transplantation age was 34 (15-68) years. The primary diagnoses were acute myeloid leukemia (50.0%), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (20.0%), and myelodysplastic syndrome (15.0%). The common chronic GVHD-affected organs included the skin in 74 patients (52.9%), the eyes in 57 patients (40.7%), and the liver in 50 patients (35.7%). Among the whole cohort, the eye (20.48±23.75), psychological (16.13±17.00), and oral (13.66±20.55) scores were highest in the LSS group. The physiological function (36.07±11.13), social function (36.10±10.68), and role-emotional functioning (38.36±11.88) scores were lowest in the SF-36 group. The EQ-5D index was 0.764. The total LSS scores for mild, moderate, and severe chronic GVHD were 6.51±6.15, 10.07±5.61, and 20.90±10.09, respectively. The SF-36 physical component scores (PCSs) were 43.12±6.38, 40.73±7.14, and 36.97±6.97, respectively, and the mental component scores (MCSs) were 43.00±8.47, 38.90±9.52, and 28.96±9.63, respectively. The EQ-5D values were 0.810±0.124, 0.762±0.179, and 0.702±0.198, respectively. The multivariate analysis showed that the overall symptom burden (β=-0.517), oral symptom burden (β=-0.456), National Institute of Health (NIH) criteria for the eyes (β=-0.376), and nutrition-related symptom burden (β=-0.211) were significantly negatively correlated with the PCS. The NIH score (β=-0.260) was negatively correlated with the MCS score. Oral symptom burden (β=-0.400), joint/fascia NIH criteria (β=-0.332), number of involved systems (β=-0.253), overall NIH criteria (β=-0.205), and number of immunosuppressants taken (β=-0.171) were significantly negatively correlated with the EQ-5D score (all P<0.05). Medium to strong correlations were found between the EQ-5D score and the SF-36 score (|r|=0.384-0.571, P<0.001). Conclusions: The QoL of patients with chronic GVHD is impaired, and the more severe the disease, the poorer the QoL. Overall symptom burden, severity of eyes, and oral symptom burden were the most important factors affecting QoL.

Abstract
Near-neutral zinc-air batteries (ZABs) have garnered significant research interest due to their high energy density, exceptional electrochemical reversibility, and adaptability to ambient air. However, these batteries suffer from substantial electrochemical polarization, low energy efficiency, and poor rate performance. In this study, a mesoporous carbon (meso-C) with a high specific surface area (1081 m2 g-1 ) and abundant porous structure for the cathode of near-neutral ZABs using a scalable synthesis method is prepared. The meso-C-based cathode is endowed with stable hydrophobicity and abundant electrochemical active sites, which considerably improve the energy efficiency, rate performance, and cycle life of the battery compare to commercial carbon black-based cathode when applied to near-neutral ZABs with 1 mol kg-1 (1 m) zinc acetate and 1 m zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate electrolytes. Additionally, the mesopores of meso-C facilitate the construction of better three-phase reaction interfaces and contribute to better electrochemical reversibility. The work presents a general and scalable approach for carbon materials in the cathode of near-neutral ZABs.

Abstract
PURPOSE The characteristics of cytokine/chemokine(CK) profiles across different courses of chronic hepatitis B virus infection and the effects of NAs antiviral therapy on cytokine profiles remain unclear. METHODS This report provides evidence from 383 patients with chronic HBV infection. The Luminex multiple cytokine detection technology was used to detect CK profiles. The predictive power of CKs across course of disease was assessedusing univariate analyses and with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS Compared to healthy control (HC), expression levels of interleukin 6 (IL)-6, IL-8, IL-21, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-2 and tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR)-1 showed a significant increasing trend during chronic HBV infection. IL-23 and IL-33 increased respectively in chronic hepatitis B patients (CHB). interferon (IFN)-gamma and TNF-α changed significantly only in liver cirrhosis (LC) patients. Whereas, myeloid-related markers decreased dramatically in those with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The ROC result suggests that combining IL-6, IL-8, CXCL9 and CXCL13 into a nomogram has closely correlation with HCC during chronic HBV infection. In addition, nucleotide analogues (NAs) antiviral treatments are capable of recoveringnormal liver functions and significantly reducing the viral loads, however, they seem to have a limited effect in changing CKs, especially specific antiviral factors. CONCLUSION The differential CK and virological markers may serve as potential indicators of distinct immune statuses in chronic HBV infection. They also underscore the varying efficacy and limitations of NAs antiviral therapies. This next step would to break new ground in the optimization of current anti-HBV treatment programs although this requires further research.

Abstract
Non-alkaline zinc-air batteries (ZABs) that use reversible O2 /ZnO2 chemistry exhibit excellent stability and superior reversibility compared to conventional alkaline ZABs. Unlike alkaline ZABs, ZnO2 discharge products are generated on the surface of the air cathodes in non-alkaline ZABs, requiring more gas-liquid-solid three-phase reaction interfaces. However, the kinetics of reported ZABs based on carbon black (CB) is far from satisfactory due to the insufficient reaction areas. The rational structural design of the air cathode is an effective way to increase active surfaces to further enhance the performance of non-alkaline ZABs. In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MW-CNTs) with unique mesoporous structures and high pore volumes are selected to replace CB in the air cathode preparation. Due to the larger electrochemically active surface area, superior hydrophobicity, and uniform electroconductibility of MW-CNTs-based cathodes, primary ZABs exhibit high specific capacity (704 mAh gZn-1 ) with a Zn utilization ratio of 85.85% at 1.0 mA cm-2 , excellent discharge rate performance, and negligible self-discharge. Furthermore, rechargeable ZABs also demonstrate outstanding rate capability and excellent cycling stability at various current densities. This work provides a fundamental understanding of the criteria for the cathode design of non-alkaline ZABs, thus opening a new pathway for more sustainable ZABs.

Abstract
Objective: To study the correlation between patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in order to provide theoretical support for the treatment of NAFLD through aerobic exercise performance. Methods: 253 cases with T2DM combined with NAFLD were selected. 93 cases consented to undergo a liver biopsy. Among them, 74 cases with liver biopsy successfully passed the symptom-limited cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and respiratory quotient (RQ)≥1.05. Patients were divided into two groups according to the NAFLD activity score (NAS) of the pathological biopsy: the non-NASH group (NAS < 4) and the NASH group (NAS≥4). The differences in general clinical and biochemical indicators and exercise parameters were compared between the two groups. The relevant factors that affect aerobic exercise performance in NAFLD patients were explored by correlation and regression analysis. Results: The peak oxygen uptake [VO2 @ peak, (17.82 ± 5.61) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1) and (23.14 ± 5.86) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)] and anaerobic threshold [VO2 @ AT, (11.47 ± 3.12) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1) and (13.81 ± 3.53) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)] were lower in the NASH group than those in the non-NASH group in T2DM patients, with P < 0.01, indicating a significant decrease in aerobic exercise performance in NASH patients compared to non-NASH patients. Correlation analysis showed that patients with T2DM combined with NAFLD VO2@peak was positively correlated with RQ, carbohydrate oxidation rate (%CHO), daily carbohydrate energy supply (CHO Kcal/d), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) (r 0.360, 0.334, 0.341, 0.255, 0.294, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively) and negatively correlated with NAS score, fat attenuation, liver stiffness, fat oxidation rate (%FAT), daily fat energy supply (FAT Kcal/d), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), body mass, and body mass index (BMI) (r -0.558, -0.411, -0.437, -0.340, -0.270, -0.288, -0.331, -0.295, -0.469, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively). VO2@AT were positively correlated with RQ, %CHO, total cholesterol (TC), and HDL-C (r 0.351, 0.247, 0.303, 0.380, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively), while it was negatively correlated with NAS score, fat attenuation, liver stiffness, %FAT, FAT (Kcal/d), ferritin (Fer), ALT, AST, body weight, and BMI (r -0.330, -0.384, -0.428, -0.270, -0.318, 0.320, -0.404, -0.416, -0.389, -0.520, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively). Stepwise multiple regression analyses revealed that BMI, RQ, and NAS scores were independent correlated factors of aerobic exercise performance. Conclusion: Hepatic inflammation and fibrosis affect the aerobic exercise performance of patients with T2DM combined with NAFLD.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Prompt detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with chronic liver diseases is critical for enhancing prognosis. Existing imaging techniques and serum markers fall short of clinical needs. This study aims to establish a non-invasive diagnostic model for early HCC detection in the Chinese population. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This prospective, multicentre, observational study will enrol 2000 participants, including HCC patients, those with chronic liver diseases (hepatitis, cirrhosis and benign liver space-occupying lesions), and healthy individuals. The study will collect demographic data and blood samples, which will be used to test α-fetoprotein (AFP), des-γ-carboxy-prothrombin (DCP) and circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) methylation. The GAMAD (Gender+Age+Methylation+AFP+DCP) model involving gender, age, ctDNA methylation signature, AFP and DCP will be developed and blindly validated in training and validation sets (1400 and 600 cases, respectively). Primary endpoints include sensitivity, specificity and accuracy (receiver operating characteristic curves; area under the curve value) of GAMAD for HCC and/or high-risk HCC groups. Secondary endpoints involve comparing GAMAD with the established GALAD (Gender+Age+AFP-L3+AFP+DCP) model and each blood index (AFP, DCP and methylation signature) to evaluate: (1) GAMAD's clinical utility for HCC patients in all stages according to different staging systems; (2) GAMAD's discrimination ability for patients in various subgroups, including liver cirrhosis (LC) related HCC and LC, hepatitis B virus (HBV) related HCC and HBV, hepatitis C virus (HCV) related HCC and HCV, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) related HCC and NAFLD. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION This trial has been approved by the Medical Ethics Committees of the First Hospital of Jilin University (#22K073-001), the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital, Naval Medical University (#EHBHKY2023-H0003-P001) and Tianjin Third Central Hospital (#IRB2023-007-01). All participants in the trial will provide written informed consent. Results of this study will be disseminated in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at conferences nationally and internationally. Abstract
In situ formation of a stable interphase layer on zinc surface is an effective solution to suppress dendrite growth. However, the fast transport of bivalent Zn-ions within the solid interlayer remains very challenging. Herein, we engineer the SEI components and enable superior kinetics of Zn metal batteries under harsh conditions through regulating the sequence of interfacial chemical reaction. With the differences in chemical reactivity of trimethyl phosphate co-solvent and trifluoromethanesulfonate anions in the Zn2+-solvation shell, Zn3(PO4)2 and ZnF2 are successively generated on Zn metal surface to form a gradient ZnF2-Zn3(PO4)2 interphase. Mechanistic studies reveal the outer ZnF2 facilitates Zn2+ desolvation and inner Zn3(PO4)2 serves as channels for fast Zn2+ transport, contributing to long-term cycling at subzero temperatures. Impressively, the gradient SEI enables a high lifespan over 7000 hours in Zn symmetric cell and a capacity retention of 86.1% after 12000 cycles in Zn-KVOH full cell at -50 °C.

Abstract
The diagnosis and assessment of ulcerative colitis (UC) poses significant challenges, which may result in inadequate treatment and a poor prognosis for patients. This study aims to identify potential activity biomarkers for UC and investigate the role of infiltrating immune cells in the disease. To perform gene set enrichment analysis, we utilized the cluster profiler and ggplot2 packages. Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes was used to analyze degenerate enrichment genes. Significant gene set enrichment was determined using the cluster profiler and ggplot2 packages. Additionally, quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) was employed to validate the expression of each marker in the ulcerative colitis model. We identified 651 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and further investigated potential UC activity biomarkers. Our analysis revealed that CXCL1 (AUC = 0.710), CYP2R1 (AUC = 0.863), LPCAT1 (AUC = 0.783), and NEU4 (AUC = 0.833) were promising activity markers for the diagnosis of UC. Using rat DSS model, we validated these markers through qRT-PCR, which showed statistically significant differences between UC and normal colon mucosa. Infiltrating immune cell analysis indicated that M1 macrophages, M2 macrophages, activated dendritic cells (DCs), and neutrophils played crucial roles in the occurrence and progression of UC. Moreover, the activity markers exhibited varying degrees of correlation with activated memory CD4 T cells, M0 macrophages, T follicular helper cells, memory B cells, and activated DCs. The potential diagnostic genes for UC activity, such as CXCL1, CYP2R1, LPCAT1, and NEU4, as well as the infiltration of immune cells, may contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of UC.

Abstract
Cinobufagin, a cardiotonic steroid derived from toad venom extracts, exhibits significant anticancer properties by inhibiting Na[Formula: see text]/K[Formula: see text]-ATPase in cancer cells. It is frequently used in clinical settings to treat advanced-stage cancer patients, improving their quality of life and survival time. However, its long-term use can result in multidrug resistance to other chemotherapy drugs, and the exact mechanism underlying this effect remains unknown. Therefore, this study explores the molecular mechanism underlying the anticancer effects of cinobufagin in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), specifically in HepG2 and Huh-7 cells. As determined using transcriptome analysis, cinobufagin-triggered protective autophagy suppressed cell apoptosis in liver cancer HepG2 and Huh-7 cells by inhibiting the phosphoinositide-3-Kinase (PI3K)-AKT serine/threonine kinase (AKT)-mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. Cinobufagin-inhibited cell proliferation, induced apoptosis, and generated cell autophagy by upregulating the expression of MAP1 light chain 3 protein II, Beclin1, and autophagy-related protein 12-5. In addition, the autophagy inhibitor MRT68921 improved the antiproliferative and proapoptotic effects of cinobufagin in the studied cell lines. Overall, this study suggests that combining cinobufagin with an autophagy inhibitor can effectively treat HCC, providing a potential strategy for cancer therapy.

Abstract
The gut microbiota, as a major source of opportunistic pathogens, poses a great threat to systemic infection, whereas the role of the gut microbiota in sepsis is underestimated. Here, we aimed to explore the effects of different gut microbiota patterns (namely, enterotypes) in cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced murine sepsis. To achieve this purpose, we built four kinds of enterotypes by exposing mice to different types of antibiotics (azithromycin, amoxicillin, metronidazole, and levofloxacin). The results showed that antibiotic exposure induced different enterotypes, which, in turn, led to varying levels of systemic inflammation in septic mice, with amoxicillin-associated enterotypes exhibiting the most severe inflammation, followed by metronidazole, azithromycin, and levofloxacin. Specifically, the amoxicillin-associated enterotype was characterized by an abundance of intestinal opportunistic pathogens, including Enterobacteriaceae, Sutterellaceae, and Morganellaceae. This enterotype played a significant role in promoting the pathogenic potential of the gut microbiota, ultimately contributing to the development of severe systemic inflammation. Furthermore, the amoxicillin-associated enterotype exaggerated the sepsis-related liver injury, as evidenced by higher levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transaminase, and hepatic malondialdehyde. The results of the RNA sequencing and the fecal suspension intraperitoneal injection sepsis model indicated that the amoxicillin-associated enterotype provoked acute hepatic immune responses and led to more significant metabolic compensation in the event of sepsis. Collectively, we concluded that the gut microbiota was one crucial factor for heterogeneity in sepsis, where the modulated gut microbiota likely prevented or reduced the serious consequences of sepsis, at least in gut-derived sepsis.

Abstract
Background and Aims Tenofovir amibufenamide (TMF) is a novel phosphoramidated prodrug of tenofovir with noninferior efficacy and better bone and renal safety to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in 48 weeks of treatment. Here, we update 96-week comparison results. Methods Patients with chronic hepatitis B were assigned (2:1) to receive either 25 mg TMF or 300 mg TDF with matching placebo for 96 weeks. The virological suppression was defined as HBV DNA levels <20 IU/mL at week 96. Safety was evaluated thoroughly with focusing on bone, renal, and metabolic parameters. Results Virological suppression rates at week 96 were similar between TMF and TDF group in both HBeAg-positive and HBeAg-negative populations. Noninferior efficacy was maintained in the pooled population, while it was first achieved in patients with HBV DNA ≥7 or 8 log10 IU/mL at baseline. Non-indexed estimated glomerular filtration rate for renal safety assessment was adopted, while a smaller decline of which was seen in the TMF group than in the TDF group (p=0.01). For bone mineral density, patients receiving TMF displayed significantly lower reduction levels in the densities of spine, hip, and femur neck at week 96 than those receiving TDF. In addition, the lipid parameters were stable after week 48 in all groups while weight change still showed the opposite trend. Conclusions TMF maintained similar efficacy at week 96 compared with TDF with continued superior bone and renal safety profiles (NCT03903796).

Abstract
Angiogenesis is an essential mechanism for the progression of gynecological cancers. Although approved anti-angiogenic drugs have demonstrated clinical efficacy in treating gynecological cancers, the full potential of therapeutic strategies based on tumor blood vessels has not yet been realized. This review summarizes the latest angiogenesis mechanisms involved in the progression of gynecological cancers and discusses the current clinical practice of approved anti-angiogenic drugs and related clinical trials. Given the close relationship between gynecological cancers and blood vessels, we highlight more delicate strategies for regulating tumor vessels, including wise drug combinations and smart nano-delivery platforms to achieve highly efficient drug delivery and overall vessel microenvironment regulation. We also address current challenges and future opportunities in this field. We aim to generate interest in therapeutic strategies that target blood vessels as a key entry point and offer new potential and inspiration for combating gynecological cancers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endoscopy plays an important role in the management of acute variceal bleeding (AVB) in patients with cirrhosis. This study aimed at determining the optimal endoscopy timing for cirrhotic AVB. METHODS Patients with cirrhosis with AVB across 34 university hospitals in 30 cities from February 2013 to May 2020 who underwent endoscopy within 24 hours were included in this study. Patients were divided into an urgent endoscopy group (endoscopy <6 h after admission) and an early endoscopy group (endoscopy 6-24 h after admission). Multivariable analysis was performed to identify risk factors for treatment failure. Primary outcome was the incidence of 5-day treatment failure. Secondary outcomes included in-hospital mortality, need for intensive care unit, and length of hospital stay. A propensity score matching analysis was performed. In addition, we performed an analysis, in which we compared the 5-day treatment failure incidence and the in-hospital mortality among patients with endoscopy performed at <12 hours and 12-24 hours. RESULTS A total of 3319 patients were enrolled: 2383 in the urgent endoscopy group and 936 in the early endoscopy group. After propensity score matching, on multivariable analysis, Child-Pugh class was identified as an independent risk factor for 5-day treatment failure (HR, 1.61; 95% CI: 1.09-2.37). The incidence of 5-day treatment failure was 3.0% in the urgent endoscopy group and 2.9% in the early group ( p = 0.90). The in-hospital mortality was 1.9% in the urgent endoscopy group and 1.2% in the early endoscopy group ( p = 0.26). The incidence of need for intensive care unit was 18.2% in the urgent endoscopy group and 21.4% in the early endoscopy group ( p = 0.11). The mean length of hospital stay was 17.9 days in the urgent endoscopy group and 12.9 days in the early endoscopy group ( p < 0.05). The incidence of 5-day treatment failure in the <12-hour group was 2.3% and 2.2% in the 12-24 hours group ( p = 0.85). The in-hospital mortality was 2.2% in the <12-hour group and 0.5% in the 12-24 hours group ( p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The data suggest that performance of endoscopy within 6-12 or within 24 hours of presentation among patients with cirrhosis with AVB led to similar treatment failure outcomes.

Abstract
Iron oxyhydroxide has been considered an auspicious electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline water electrolysis due to its suitable electronic structure and abundant reserves. However, Fe-based materials seriously suffer from the tradeoff between activity and stability at a high current density above 100 mA cm-2 . In this work, the Ce atom is introduced into the amorphous iron oxyhydroxide (i.e., CeFeOx Hy ) nanosheet to simultaneously improve the intrinsic electrocatalytic activity and stability for OER through regulating the redox property of iron oxyhydroxide. In particular, the Ce substitution leads to the distorted octahedral crystal structure of CeFeOx Hy , along with a regulated coordination site. The CeFeOx Hy electrode exhibits a low overpotential of 250 mV at 100 mA cm-2 with a small Tafel slope of 35.1 mVdec-1 . Moreover, the CeFeOx Hy electrode can continuously work for 300 h at 100 mA cm-2 . When applying the CeFeOx Hy nanosheet electrode as the anode and coupling it with the platinum mesh cathode, the cell voltage for overall water splitting can be lowered to 1.47 V at 10 mA cm-2 . This work offers a design strategy for highly active, low-cost, and durable material through interfacing high valent metals with earth-abundant oxides/hydroxides.

Abstract
Except for cell-surface receptors, a range of transporters have been exploited as targets for the delivery of novel anti-tumor nanomaterials. Transporters, which are essential for delivering nutrients for the biosynthesis of mammalian cells, are significantly expressed in a range of tumor types; their expression is mostly tissue- and site-specific. The unique functional and expression characteristics of transporters make them ideal targets for mediating the selective delivery of nanomaterials to cancer cells, thus promoting cell accumulation, and enhancing the penetration of nanomaterials into biological barriers before they can specifically target cancer cells. In this review, we discuss the unique function of cancer-related transporters in the initiation and development of tumors, as well as the use of transporter-targeted nanocarriers in tumor-targeting therapy. First, the expression of various transporters in tumorigenesis and development is reviewed; this is followed by a discussion of the latest advances in targeted drug delivery strategies based on transporter nanocarriers. Finally, we review the molecular mechanisms and targeting efficiency of transporter-mediated nanocarriers. This review provides a state-of-the-art synthesis of this discipline and will facilitate the generation of new concepts for the design of highly efficacious and tumor-targeting nanocarriers.

Abstract
Rechargeable Li-CO2 battery represents a sustainable technology by virtue of CO2 recyclability and energy storage capability. Unfortunately, the sluggish mass transport and electron transfer in bulky high-crystalline discharge product of Li2 CO3 , severely hinder its practical capacity and rechargeability. Herein, a heterostructure of isolated metalloid Te atomic cluster anchored on N-doped carbon nanosheets is designed (TeAC @NCNS) as a metal-free cathode for Li-CO2 battery. X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis demonstrates that the abundant and dispersed Te active centers can be stabilized by C atoms in form of the covalent bond. The fabricated battery shows an unprecedented full-discharge capacity of 28.35 mAh cm-2 at 0.05 mA cm-2 and long-term cycle life of up to 1000 h even at a high cut-off capacity of 1 mAh cm-2 . A series of ex situ characterizations combined with theoretical calculations demonstrate that the abundant Te atomic clusters acting as active centers can drive the electron redistribution of carbonate via forming TeO bonds, giving rise to poor-crystalline Li2 CO3 film during the discharge process. Moreover, the efficient electron transfer between the Te centers and intermediate species is energetically beneficial for nucleation and accelerates the decomposition of Li2 CO3 on the TeAC @NCNS during the discharge/charge process.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Male breast cancer (MBC) accounts for 0.5%-1% of all breast cancers diagnosed worldwide. However, its biological characteristics can be distinguished from that of female breast cancer (FBC). CASE REPRESENTATION The diagnostic and treatment approaches for MBC are mainly similar to that of FBC due to the lack of male breast cancer-related studies, clinical trials, and literature. An increasing number of retrospective and prospective studies have been conducted to clarify the individualized care for MBC. Herein, we report three cases of advanced MBC to describe the diagnostic approaches, treatment process, and survival prognosis. CONCLUSION MBC patients had older age, later stage at first diagnosis, higher expression of hormone receptors, and poor prognosis. A literature review was conducted to determine the incidence, risk factors, disease features, diagnosis, treatment, survival, and management of MBC.

Abstract
Paired electrolysis methods are appealing for chemical synthesis because they generate valuable products at both electrodes; however, development of such reactions is complicated by the need for both half-reactions to proceed under mutually compatible conditions. Here, a modular electrochemical synthesis (ModES) strategy bypasses these constraints using a "redox reservoir" (RR) to pair electrochemical half-reactions across aqueous and nonaqueous solvents. Electrochemical oxidation reactions in organic solvents, the conversion of 4-t-butyltoluene to benzylic dimethyl acetal and aldehyde in methanol or the oxidative C-H amination of naphthalene in acetonitrile, and the reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide in water were paired using nickel hexacyanoferrate as an RR that can selectively store and release protons (and electrons) while serving as the counter electrode for these reactions. Selective proton transport through the RR is optimized and confirmed to enable the ion balance, and thus the successful pairing, between redox half-reactions that proceed with different rates, on different scales, and in different solvents (methanol, acetonitrile, and water).

Abstract
Objectives The aims of the study were to identify whether left renal vein (LRV) entrapment was more prevalent in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and Henoch–Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) compared with other types of renal diseases, and the association of LRV entrapment with glomerular incidental IgA and galactose-deficient-IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) deposition. Methods A total of 797 patients with biopsy-proven kidney diseases have been screened for LRV entrapment by color Doppler ultrasound, and the prevalence of LRV entrapment in different types of renal diseases were then analyzed. Propensity score matching analysis was used to adjust for age, gender, and body mass index. Immunostaining of Gd-IgA1 with KM55 was performed in paraffin-embedded sections of renal biopsy specimens. Results LRV entrapment was diagnosed in 47 patients (6%) with several kinds of renal diseases in our cohort. A total of 32 (68%) LRV entrapments were combined with expanded IgAN (idiopathic IgAN and HSPN). The prevalence of LRV entrapment in expanded IgAN was significantly higher than that in non-expanded IgAN (17 vs. 2%, p < 0.001), even after adjustment for age, gender, and body mass index by propensity score matching analysis (13 vs. 2%, p < 0.001). Removing expanded IgAN and LN, glomerular incidental IgA deposition was observed to be significantly more common in patients with LRV entrapment compared with patients without it (43 vs. 9%, p < 0.001). Furthermore, in glomerular diseases with incidental IgA deposits, significantly much larger proportion of patients with LRV entrapment were positive for glomerular Gd-IgA1 in contrast to patients without LRV entrapment (5/5 vs. 5/17, p = 0.01). Conclusions LRV entrapment coexisted with several kinds of renal diseases, with a significantly higher prevalence in patients with idiopathic IgAN and HSPN. In patients of LN and IgAN-unrelated disease with LRV entrapment, glomerular IgA and Gd-IgA1 deposition was more common compared with patients without LRV entrapment.

Abstract
Background and aim Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) can be divided into immune tolerance (IT), immune clearance (IC), hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-negative inactive/quiescent carrier (ENQ), and HBeAg-negative hepatitis (ENH) phases. The conventional biomarkers used to distinguish these phases have limitations. We examined the clinical significance of hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA and hepatitis B core-related antigen (HBcrAg) as novel biomarkers. Methods One hundred eighty-nine patients without treatment currently were categorized by CHB phase (IT = 46, IC = 45, ENQ = 49, ENH = 49). The associations of HBV RNA and HBcrAg with HBV DNA and alanine transaminase (ALT) were analyzed. The decision tree model was used to distinguish the four phases in the natural course of CHB. Results The concentrations of HBV RNA and HBcrAg were highest in the IT and IC phases (P < 0.01). Serum HBV RNA was similar to HBcrAg in treatment-naïve patients. HBV RNA and HBcrAg correlated with HBV DNA in the HBeAg+ and HBeAg- status (HBV RNA: e+ r = 0.51, e- r = 0.62; HBcrAg: e+ r = 0.51, e- r = 0.71), but their association with HBV DNA differed among phases. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of HBcrAg with ALT in distinguishing the CHB phases were 95.65%, 95.83%, and 95.55%, respectively. Conclusion Serum HBV RNA and HBcrAg may be useful to monitor CHB progression.

Abstract
The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence, distribution, and risk factors for constipation in peritoneal dialysis (PD) and hemodialysis (HD) patients in our center. In this cross-sectional study, 858 dialysis patients over 18 years of age (681 HD cases and 177 PD cases from our hospital) were enrolled. A constipation assessment scale (CAS) questionnaire was used to evaluate constipation status. Logistic regression analysis was performed to define independent risk factors for CAS scores. The prevalence of constipation in HD and PD patients was 52.7% and 77.4%, respectively. The mean CAS score in HD and PD patients was 1.73 ± 2.31 and 2.42 ± 2.34, respectively. Age ≥ 65 and diabetic kidney disease for renal failure were independent risk factors associated with constipation in the HD population (OR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.15-2.90, P = .019; OR = 3.31, 95% CI: 1.65-6.11, P < .001, respectively). In the PD population, only serum prealbumin was independently associated with constipation (OR = 0.88, 95% CI: 0.79-0.96, P = .007). The multivariable logistic regression analysis demonstrated that PD modality, age ≥ 65 and diabetic kidney disease for renal failure were independent risk factors for constipation (OR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.41-3.32, P < .001; OR = 1.65, 95% CI: 1.13-2.33, P = .003; OR = 3.19, 95% CI: 1.76-5.093, P < .001, respectively). The prevalence of constipation in PD patients was higher than that in HD patients in our center. PD modality for renal replacement therapy, age ≥ 65 and diabetic kidney disease for renal failure were closely associated with constipation in dialysis patients.

Abstract
The concurrent photocatalytic synthesis of hydrogen gas and high-valued chemicals over two-dimensional semiconductors is extremely attractive to alleviate global energy and environmental concerns through directly using sunlight. Herein, a novel layered In4/3P2Se6 nanosheet is synthesized by a space confined chemical vapor conversion method, and it acts as a dual-functional photocatalyst to deliver the co-production of hydrogen gas and N-benzylidenebenzylamine from water reduction and selective benzylamine oxidation. The simultaneous yield of hydrogen gas and N-benzylidenebenzylamine is 895 μmol g-1 and 681 μmol g-1, respectively, within 16-hour continuous reaction involving a small amount of water in acetonitrile solvent. Moreover, 97.4% N-benzylidenebenzylamine selectivity from benzylamine oxidation can be achieved with continuous 10 hour-reaction only in acetonitrile solvent under ambient conditions. Further in situ electron paramagnetic resonance measurements and reaction optimization tests reveal that the reaction mechanism strongly relies on the conditions over the In4/3P2Se6 nanosheet photocatalyst.

Abstract
Background Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss is considered a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B (CHB), however, several factors influence HBsAg loss. Methods 29 CHB patients who had achieved HBsAg loss, were selected and 58 CHB patients with persistent HBsAg were matched, according to gender and age (+/- 3 years). Logistic regression and restricted cubic spline (RCS) modelling were performed. Results Multivariate-adjusted logistic regression, based on stepwise selection, showed that baseline HBsAg levels negatively correlated with HBsAg loss (odds ratio [OR] = 0.99, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.98-0.99). Interferon treatment positively related with HBsAg loss (OR = 7.99, 95%CI = 1.62-44.88). After adjusting for age, HBsAg level, ALT level, HBeAg status and interferon treatment, MMP-1 (OR = 0.66, 95%CI = 0.44-0.97), CXCL9 (OR = 0.96, 95%CI = 0.93-0.99) and TNF-R1 (OR = 0.97, 95%CI = 0.94-0.99) baseline levels all negatively correlated with HBsAg loss. Our multivariate-adjusted RCS model showed that baseline CXCL10 was associated with HBsAg loss although the relationship was “U-shaped”. Conclusions Cytokines such as MMP-1, CXCL9, CXCL10 and TNF-R1 are important factors which influence HBsAg loss. It may be possible to develop a nomogram which intercalates these factors; however, further research should consider immune processes involved in HBsAg loss.

Abstract
Background and Aims Emergency endoscopy is recommended for patients with acute esophageal variceal bleeding (EVB) and their prognosis has improved markedly over past decades due to the increased specialization of endoscopic practice. The study aimed to compare outcomes following emergency endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS) and endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) in cirrhotic patients with acute EVB. Methods Cirrhotic patients with acute EVB who underwent emergency endoscopy were retrospectively enrolled from 2013 to 2020 across 34 university hospitals from 30 cities. The primary outcome was the incidence of 5-day rebleeding after emergency endoscopy. Subgroup analysis was stratified by Child-Pugh class and bleeding history. A 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was performed. Results A total of 1,017 and 382 patients were included in EIS group and EVL group, respectively. The 5-day rebleeding incidence was similar between EIS group and EVL group (4% vs. 5%, P = 0.45). The result remained the same after PSM (P = 1.00). Among Child-Pugh class A, B and C patients, there were no differences in the 5-day rebleeding incidence between the two groups after PSM (P = 0.25, 0.82, and 0.21, respectively). As for the patients with or without bleeding history, the differences between EIS group and EVL group were not significant after PSM (P = 1.00 and 0.26, respectively). Conclusion The nationwide cohort study indicates that EIS and EVL are both efficient emergency endoscopic treatment strategies for acute EVB. EIS should not be dismissed as an economical and effective emergency endoscopic treatment strategy of acute EVB. ClincialTrials.gov number NCT04307264.

Abstract
Background CEUS LI-RADS and CT/MRI LI-RADS have been used in clinical practice for several years. However, there is a lack of evidence-based study to compare the proportion of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) in each category and the distribution of HCCs of these two categorization systems. Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare the proportion of HCCs between corresponding CEUS LI-RADS and CT/MRI LI-RADS categories and the distribution of HCCs and non-HCC malignancies in each category. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central databases from January 2014 to December 2021. The proportion of HCCs and non-HCC malignancies and the corresponding sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under the curve (AUC) of the LR-5 and LR-M categories were determined using a random-effect model. Results A total of 43 studies were included. The proportion of HCCs in CEUS LR-5 was 96%, and that in CECT/MRI LR-5 was 95% (p > 0.05). The proportion of non-HCC malignancy in CEUS LR-M was lower than that of CT/MRI LR-M (35% vs. 58%, p = 0.01). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of CEUS LR-5 for HCCs were 73%, 92%, and 78%, respectively, and of CT/MRI LR-5 for HCCs, 69%, 92%, and 76%, respectively. Conclusion With the upshift of the LI-RADS category, the proportion of HCCs increased. CEUS LR-3 has a lower risk of HCCs than CT/MRI LR-3. CEUS LR-5 and CT/MRI LR-5 have a similar diagnostic performance for HCCs. CEUS LR-M has a higher proportion of HCCs and a lower proportion of non-HCC malignancies compared with CT/MRI LR-M.

Abstract
The electrochemical CO2 reduction into formate acid over Pd-based catalysts under a wide potential window is a challenging task; CO poisoning commonly occurring on the vulnerable surface of Pd must be overcome. Herein, we designed a two-dimensional (2D) AuNP-in-PdNS electrocatalyst, in which the Au nanoparticles are intercalated in Pd nanosheets, for formate production under a wide potential window from -0.1 to -0.7 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode. Based on the X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) characterizations, CO accumulation detection, and CO stripping voltammetry measurements, we observed that the intercalated Au nanoparticles could effectively avoid the CO formation and boost the formate production on the Pd nanosheet surface by regulating its electronic structure.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the clinical characteristics of different types of human adenovirus (HAdV) infection in hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection in Beijing, and to clarify the clinical necessity of adenovirus typing. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 9 022 respiratory tract specimens collected from hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection from November 2017 to October 2019 in Affiliated Children's Hospital, Capital Institute of Pediatrics were screened for HAdV by direct immunofluorescence (DFA) and (or) nucleic acid detection. Then the Penton base, Hexon and Fiber gene of HAdV were amplified from HAdV positive specimens to confirm their HAdV types by phylogenetic tree construction. Clinical data such as laboratory results and imaging data were analyzed for children with predominate type HAdV infection using t, U, or χ2 test. Results: There were 392 cases (4.34%) positive for HAdV among 9 022 specimens from hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection. Among those 205 cases who were successfully typed, 131 were male and 74 were female, age of 22.6 (6.7, 52.5) months,102 cases (49.76%) were positive for HAdV-3 and 86 cases (41.95%), HAdV-7, respectively, while 17 cases were confirmed as HAdV-1, 2, 4, 6, 14 or 21. In comparison of clinical characteristics between the predominate HAdV type 7 and 3 infection, significant differences were shown in proportions of children with wheezing (10 cases (11.63%) vs. 25 cases (24.51%)), white blood cell count >15 ×109/L (4 cases (4.65%) vs.14 cases (13.73%)), white blood cell count <5×109/L (26 cases (30.23%) vs.11 cases (10.78%)), procalcitonin level>0.5 mg/L (43 cases (50.00%) vs. 29 cases (28.43%)), multilobar infiltration (45 cases (52.33%) vs.38 cases (37.25%)), pleural effusion (23 cases (26.74%) vs. 10 cases (9.80%)), and severe adenovirus pneumonia (7 cases (8.14%) vs. 2 cases (1.96%)) with χ²=5.11, 4.44, 11.16, 9.19, 4.30, 9.25, 3.91 and P=0.024, 0.035, 0.001, 0.002, 0.038, 0.002, 0.048, respectively, and also in length of hospital stay (11 (8, 15) vs. 7 (5, 13) d, Z=3.73, P<0.001). Conclusions: HAdV-3 and 7 were the predominate types of HAdV infection in hospitalized children with acute respiratory tract infection in Beijing. Compared with HAdV-3 infection, HAdV-7 infection caused more obvious inflammatory reaction, more severe pulmonary symptoms, longer length of hospital stay, suggesting the clinical necessity of further typing of HAdVs.

Abstract
Challenges posed by the sacrificial auxiliary reactions and expensive ion-exchange membranes in conventional electrosynthesis necessitate developing new electrochemical processes to enable efficient and sustainable distributed electrochemical manufacturing. Modular electrochemical synthesis (ModES) using a redox reservoir (RR) offers a promising membrane-free approach to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste through the pairing of multiple independent oxidative and reductive half-reactions; however, undesired ion-imbalance and induced pH changes in the existing ModES process limit sustained production. Here we present Ni(OH)2 as a heterogeneous RR that can selectively store and transport the hydroxide ions involved in the target half-reactions by reversible conversion with NiOOH to enable an ion-balanced ModES of two common disinfectants, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO). This hydroxide-balanced ModES realizes stable operation without appreciable pH swing to accumulate practically useful concentrations of H2O2 and NaClO up to 251 and 481 ppm, respectively. These results illustrate additional design principles for electrosynthesis without sacrificial auxiliary reactions and the need for ion-selective RRs for modular electrochemical manufacturing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to investigate the clinical relevance of IgM deposition in patients with lupus nephritis (LN) in a large cohort. RESULTS 217 patients with renal biopsy-proven active LN were enrolled. The associations between glomerular IgM deposition and clinicopathological parameters were further analyzed. IgM deposition was positively correlated with glomerular C1q and C3 deposition moderately (r = 0.436, P < 0.001; r = 0.408, P < 0.001, respectively), and inversely correlated with plasma levels of C3 and CFH mildly (r = - 0.138, P = 0.043; r = - 0.147, P = 0.037, respectively). By multivariate analysis, we found that glomerular IgM deposition independently contributed to glomerular C3 deposition in patients with LN (OR = 2.002, 95% CI 1.295-3.094, P = 0.002). In addition, we also found that patients with IgM 0-2+ had similar plasma CFH levels, but in patients with IgM3+-4+, plasma CFH levels were significantly lower (300.4 ± 155.8 μg/mL vs. 429.9 ± 187.5 μg/mL, P < 0.001). Furthermore, patients with high density of glomerular IgM and low levels of CFH had heavier proteinuria, higher serum creatinine and lower plasma C3 levels (5.7 ± 3.1 g/d vs. 4.7 ± 3.5 g/d, P = 0.037; 150.1 ± 121.0 μmol/L vs. 105.6 ± 97.1 μmol/L, P = 0.005; 0.3 ± 0.2 μg/L vs. 0.4 ± 0.2 μg/L, P = 0.04, respectively), comparing with those with low density of glomerular IgM and low levels of CFH. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggested the involvement of glomerular deposited IgM in complement activation and renal injury in LN.

Abstract
This study was aimed at revising the LI-RADS M category (LR-M) criteria to improve the diagnostic performance categories LR-5 and LR-M of the contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) Version 2017. We enrolled 264 patients (264 nodules) with a risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The nodules were assigned specific CEUS LI-RADS categories. Washout onset times for all nodules were noted. The diagnostic performance of LR-5 and LR-M was analyzed based on the different early washout criterion for the LR-M category. The positive predictive values in LR-5, LR-4 and LR-3 were 98.6%, 72.2% and 16.7%, respectively, and that for non-HCC malignancies in LR-M was 25.0%. Patients in the LR-M category were reclassified using 45 s as the early washout criterion. LR-5 had higher sensitivity (65.5% vs. 76.2%, p = 0.012) and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (0.80 vs. 0.85, p = 0.001) for HCC diagnosis after reclassification. LR-M also had higher specificity (71.4% vs. 81.3%, p = 0.010) in diagnosing non-HCC malignancies after reclassification. Our findings suggest CEUS LR-5 is effective for HCC diagnosis. The use of 45 s as the time criterion of early washout for LR-M can improve LR-5 and LR-M performance in the diagnosis of HCC and non-HCC malignancies, respectively.

Abstract
Ferroptosis, a cell death pathway involving iron-related generation of lipid hydroperoxides for achieving incredible tumor suppression, has reignited the hope of chemotherapy in tumor treatment in the past decade. With extensive research studies, various bioactive proteins and cellular pathways have been demonstrated to regulate the occurrence and development of ferroptosis. The gradually established ferroptotic regulatory network is conducive to find effective proteins from a holistic perspective and guides better designs for future ferroptotic tumor therapies. The first section of this review summarizes the recent advances in ferroptotic regulatory mechanisms of proteins and attempts to clarify their latent function in the ferroptotic regulatory network. Second, the existing protein-mediated ferroptotic tumor nanotherapeutic strategies were reviewed, including the protein-mediated iron supplement, cell membrane transporter inhibition, glutathione peroxidase 4 interference, glutathione depletion, bioenzyme-mediated reactive oxygen species generation, heat shock protein inhibition, and tumor-overexpressed protein-triggered drug release for ferroptotic therapy. Finally, the future expectations and challenges of ferroptotic tumor nanotherapeutics for clinical cancer therapy are highlighted.

Abstract
Objective: Health disparities related to basic medical insurance in China have not been sufficiently examined, particularly among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aims to investigate the disparities in HCC survival by insurance status in Tianjin, China. Methods: This retrospective analysis used data from the Tianjin Basic Medical Insurance claims database, which consists of enrollees covered by Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance (UEBMI) and Urban and Rural Resident Basic Medical Insurance (URRBMI). Adult patients newly diagnosed with HCC between 2011 and 2016 were identified and followed until death from any cause, withdrawal from UEBMI or URRBMI, or the latest data in the dataset (censoring as of December 31st 2017), whichever occurred first. Patients' overall survival during the follow-up was assessed using Kaplan-Meier and extrapolated by six parametric models. The hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated with the adjusted Cox proportional hazards model including age at diagnosis, sex, baseline comorbidities and complications, baseline healthcare resources utilization and medical costs, tumor metastasis at diagnosis, the initial treatment after diagnosis and antiviral therapy during the follow-up. Results: Two thousand sixty eight patients covered by UEBMI (N = 1,468) and URRBMI (N = 570) were included (mean age: 60.6 vs. 60.9, p = 0.667; female: 31.8 vs. 27.7%, p = 0.074). The median survival time for patients within the UEBMI and URRBMI were 37.8 and 12.2 months, and the 1-, 3-, 5-, 10-year overall survival rates were 63.8, 50.2, 51.0, 33.4, and 44.4, 22.8, 31.5, 13.1%, respectively. Compared with UEBMI, patients covered by URRBMI had 72% (HR: 1.72; 95% CI: 1.47–2.00) higher risk of death after adjustments for measured confounders above. The survival difference was still statistically significant (HR: 1.49; 95% CI: 1.21–1.83) in sensitivity analysis based on propensity score matching. Conclusions: This study reveals that HCC patients covered by URRBMI may have worse survival than patients covered by UEBMI. Further efforts are warranted to understand healthcare disparities for patients covered by different basic medical insurance in China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tenofovir amibufenamide (TMF) can provide more efficient delivery than tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). AIM To compare the efficacy and safety of TMF and TDF for 48 weeks in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). METHODS We performed a randomised, double-blind, non-inferiority study at 49 sites in China. Patients with CHB were assigned (2:1) to receive either 25 mg TMF or 300 mg TDF with matching placebo. The primary efficacy endpoint was the proportion of patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA less than 20 IU/mL at week 48. We also assessed safety, particularly bone, renal and metabolic abnormalities. RESULTS We randomised 1002 eligible patients. The baseline characteristics were well balanced between groups. After a median 48 weeks of treatment, the non-inferiority criterion was met in all analysis sets. In the HBeAg-positive population, 50.2% of patients receiving TMF and 53.7% receiving TDF achieved HBV DNA less than 20 IU/mL. In the HBeAg-negative population, 88.9% and 87.8%, respectively, achieved HBV DNA less than 20 IU/mL in the TMF and TDF groups. Patients receiving TMF had significantly less decrease in bone mineral density at both hip (P < 0.001) and spine (P < 0.001), and a smaller increase in serum creatinine at week 48 (P < 0.05). Other safety results were similar between groups. CONCLUSION TMF was non-inferior to TDF in terms of anti-HBV efficacy and showed better bone and renal safety. (NCT03903796).

Abstract
From early life to adulthood, the microbiota play a crucial role in the health of the infant. The microbiota in early life are not only a key regulator of infant health but also associated with long-term health. Pregnancy to early life is the golden time for the establishment of the infant microbiota, which is affected by both environmental and genetic factors. Recently, there is an explosion of the studies on the role of microbiota in human diseases, but the application to disease or health is relatively limited because many aspects of human microbiota remain controversial, especially about the infant microbiota. Therefore, a critical and conclusive review is necessary to understand fully the relationship between the microbiota and the health of infant. In this article, we introduce in detail the role of microbiota in the infant from pregnancy to early life to long-term health. The main contents of this article include the relationship between the maternal microbiota and adverse pregnancy outcomes, the establishment of the neonatal microbiota during perinatal period and early life, the composition of the infant gut microbiota, the prediction of the microbiota for long-term health, and the future study directions of microbiota.

Abstract
Controlling the magnetic spin states of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials with strong electronic or magnetic correlation is important for spintronic applications but challenging. Crystal defects that are often present in 2D materials such as transition metal phosphorus trisulfides (MPS3) could influence their physical properties. Here, we report the effect of sulfur vacancies on the magnetic exchange interactions and spin ordering of few-layered vdW magnetic Ni1−xCoxPS3 nanosheets. Magnetic and structural characterization in corroboration with theoretical calculations reveal that sulfur vacancies effectively suppress the strong intralayer antiferromagnetic correlation, giving rise to a weak ferromagnetic ground state in Ni1−xCoxPS3 nanosheets. Notably, the magnetic field required to tune this ferromagnetic state (<300 Oe) is much lower than the value needed to tune a typical vdW antiferromagnet (> several thousand oersted). These findings provide a previously unexplored route for controlling competing correlated states and magnetic ordering by defect engineering in vdW materials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is highly prevalent in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients and can rapidly progress to steatohepatitis, liver fibrosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Accurate evaluation and proper management of MAFLD can help prevent adverse liver outcomes. Here we evaluated the precision of the FibroTouch (FT) in the staging of liver steatosis and fibrosis in patients with MAFLD combined with T2DM using two indicators: controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM). METHODS Eighty-five adult MAFLD combined with T2DM patients were selected at our center from July 2016 to July 2019 and underwent liver puncture biopsy for histopathology and the FT assay simultaneously. Two blinded pathologists independently reviewed the samples. The severity of fatty liver was classified using two scoring systems: the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease activity score (NAS) and the fibrosis score. Scores were then assessed following the Pathology Working Group of the NASH Clinical Research Network of the National Institutes of Health. Similarly, the severity of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) was classified using the European Steatosis Activity Fibrosis (SAF) system. The FT assay was applied to obtain the LSM and the CAP. FT accuracy in diagnosing steatosis and fibrosis was determined by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and the area under the ROC curve (AUROC). RESULTS Using biopsy analysis as the gold standard, the AUROCs and cutoff values of CAP in diagnosing liver steatosis were as follows: 0.84 (95% CI: 0.67-1.01) and 278 dB/m for S ≥ S1, 0.88 (95% CI: 0.81-0.95) and 305 dB/m for S ≥ S2, 0.89 (95% CI: 0.82-0.95) and 307 dB/m for S ≥ S3. The AUROCs and cutoff values of LSM in diagnosing liver fibrosis were as follows: 0.76 (95% CI: 0.66-0.86) for F ≥ F2, 0.81 (95% CI: 0.71-0.91) and 13.8 kPa for F ≥ F3, 0.92 (95% CI: 0.85-1.00) and 20.1 kPa for F ≥ F4. CONCLUSIONS In patients of MAFLD with T2DM, CAP and LSM obtained by FT are highly accurate in assess liver steatosis and fibrosis, respectively, with AUROC values ranging from 0.76 to 0.92.

Abstract
We investigated which treatment should be applied if primary cervical ripening with a dinoprostone pessary is unsuccessful. We included 281 women who experienced unsuccessful cervical ripening with a dinoprostone pessary and continued on induction of labour (IOL). Of the 281 women recruited, 177 were given a second dose of dinoprostone; 104 women received a balloon catheter. The second dinoprostone pessary was successful in achieving vaginal delivery in 88 of the 177 (48.6%) women, while the balloon catheter was successful in 42 of the 104 women (40.4%); there was no significant difference between the two treatments with regards to successful vaginal delivery. However, of the women who experienced successful vaginal delivery, the delivery rate in the dinoprostone group was significantly higher than that in the balloon catheter group 12, 24, 36, or 48 h after insertion (p = .0094, .0005, .0258, .0483, respectively). The neonatal outcomes, the proportion of maternal infection and postpartum haemorrhage were similar between the two groups.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? Labour induction is a common procedure in obstetrics in a bid to achieve vaginal delivery in China, because vaginal delivery is more beneficial and associated with a better quality of life as compared to a Caesarean delivery. There is consensus relating to the preferred method of IOL after unsuccessful IOL with a dinoprostone pessary.What do the results of this study add? This is the first study in a Chinese population to compare the dinoprostone pessary and balloon catheter for women with no response to dinoprostone for cervical ripening with a sample size greater than 100. We found that a second dose of dinoprostone can reduce the time from the re-initiation of IOL to vaginal delivery compared with the balloon catheter. Our data also indicated that all other outcomes relating to the mother and infant were similar.What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or future research? A second dose of dinoprostone is a superior choice for women who experience unsuccessful IOL with dinoprostone to further accelerate vaginal delivery.

Abstract
Silica-based nanoframeworks have been extensively studied for diagnosing and treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several reviews have summarized the advantages and disadvantages of these nanoframeworks and their use as drug-delivery carriers. Encouragingly, these nanoframeworks, especially those with metal elements or small molecular drugs doping into the skeleton structure or modifying onto the surface of nanoparticles, could be multifunctional components participating in HCC diagnosis and treatment rather than functioning only as drug-delivery carriers. Therefore, in this work, we described the research progress of silica-based nanoframeworks involved in HCC diagnosis (plasma biomarker detection, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography, photoacoustic imaging, fluorescent imaging, ultrasonography, etc.) and treatment (chemotherapy, ferroptotic therapy, radiotherapy, phototherapy, sonodynamic therapy, immunotherapy, etc.) to clarify their roles in HCC theranostics. Further, the future expectations and challenges associated with silica-based nanoframeworks were highlighted. We believe that this review will provide a comprehensive understanding for researchers to design novel, functional silica-based nanoframeworks that can effectively overcome HCC.

Abstract
RATIONALE Nutcracker and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome share the same pathogenesis, but the simultaneous occurrence of both diseases is quite rare. A combination of the nutcracker syndrome and IgA nephropathy has previously been reported. Herein, we report what we believe is the first case of coexisting nutcracker and SMA syndrome in a patient with IgA nephropathy. PATIENT CONCERNS A 15-year-old Chinese boy who was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy at 8 years of age presented with gross hematuria, fatigue, anorexia, nausea, and recurrent abdominal distension for 1 week without any obvious evidence of preceding infection. Laboratory data showed macroscopic hematuria, heavy proteinuria, and relatively normal renal function. Doppler ultrasonography and upper gastrointestinal gastrografin study were performed, respectively. Since his renal function deteriorated after admission, repeated renal biopsy was performed. DIAGNOSES IgA nephropathy with nutcracker phenomenon and SMA syndrome. INTERVENTION Immunosuppressive therapy combined with conservative therapy for superior mesenteric artery syndrome. OUTCOMES One month later, his abdomen symptoms such as anorexia and abdominal distension eased a lot with body weight increase of about 3 kg. After 6 months of follow-up, his body weight increased to 57 kg, serum creatinine decreased to 63 μmol/L, and urine microscopy showed 75.5 RBC/high-power field with 0.3 g urine protein per day. LESSONS Although the association between vascular compression and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) has not been elucidated yet, combination of nutcracker syndrome and SMA syndrome should be considered in patients with IgAN. The combination may increase the complexity of the disease, and renal biopsy should not be hesitated for differential diagnosis.
