KLF13 promotes VSMCs phenotypic dedifferentiation by directly binding to the SM22α promoter. J Cell Physiol 2024; 239:e31251. Abstract
Krüppel-like factor 13 (KLF13), a zinc finger transcription factor, is considered as a potential regulator of cardiomyocyte differentiation and proliferation during heart morphogenesis. However, its precise role in the dedifferentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) during atherosclerosis and neointimal formation after injury remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the relationship between KLF13 and SM22α expression in normal and atherosclerotic plaques by bioanalysis, and observed a significant increase in KLF13 levels in the atherosclerotic plaques of both human patients and ApoE-/- mice. Knockdown of KLF13 was found to ameliorate intimal hyperplasia following carotid artery injury. Furthermore, we discovered that KLF13 directly binds to the SM22α promoter, leading to the phenotypic dedifferentiation of VSMCs. Remarkably, we observed a significant inhibition of platelet-derived growth factor BB-induced VSMCs dedifferentiation, proliferation, and migration when knocked down KLF13 in VSMCs. This inhibitory effect of KLF13 knockdown on VCMC function was, at least in part, mediated by the inactivation of p-AKT signaling in VSMCs. Overall, our findings shed light on a potential therapeutic target for treating atherosclerotic lesions and restenosis after vascular injury.

Multiple maxillofacial desmoid tumours: a case report. Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg 2024:S0901-5027(24)00098-5. Abstract
Desmoid tumors (DTs) are rare benign neoplasms but cause significant mortality due to their locally infiltrative nature and propensity to recur. Most DTs occur in the extremities and trunk. Head and neck DTs are uncommon but can have a significant impact on a patient's facial appearance. However, there is limited information available about the diagnosis and treatment for multiple DTs located in head and neck. We report the first case of multiple maxillofacial DTs in a 14-year-old boy. He had painless submandibular masses for three months and MRI imaging reveals abnormal high signals on the submandibular and bilateral zygomatic regions. Considering facial aesthetics, via intraoral incision we obtained a biopsy from the largest mass. Pathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of DT. We selected the wait-and-see strategy and clinically monitored the rest of the masses. During the subsequent 1-year follow-up, the masses were stagnant and appeared to involute. According to the development and outcome of this case, a conservative treatment for craniofacial DTs is suggested; however, greater clarity concerning management and prognosis could derive from prospective study of a larger patient cohort in the future.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical features of fatty liver disease (FLD) from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD), so as to elucidate its clinical application value under three renames. Methods: Patients who were hospitalized in the Department of Hepatology, Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Xinjiang Medical University, from January 2020 to September 2023 and met the diagnosis of NAFLD, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), or MASLD were selected as the research subjects. The clinical indicators differences among the three groups of patients were compared, mainly including general information (age, gender, body mass index, past history, etc.), serological indicators (liver and kidney function, blood lipids, blood sugar, coagulation function, etc.), non-invasive liver fibrosis indicators, fat attenuation parameters, etc. Measurement data were analyzed using ANOVA and the rank sum test, while count data were analyzed using the χ(2) test. Results: NAFLD, MAFLD, and MASLD prevalence rates among 536 cases were 64.0%, 93.7%, and 100%, respectively. 318 cases (59.3%) met the three fatty liver names at the same time among them. Male population proportions in NAFLD, MAFLD, and MASLD were 30.9%, 55.8%, and 53.9%, respectively. The alcohol consumption history proportion was 0, 36.7%, and 36.0%, respectively. The smoking history proportion was 7.0%, 31.9%, and 30.6%, respectively. The body mass index was (27.66 ± 3.97), (28.33 ± 3.63), and (27.90 ± 3.89) kg/m(2), respectively. The γ-glutamyltransferase levels were 26.6 (18.0, 47.0) U/L, 31.0 (20.0, 53.0) U/L, and 30.8 (19.8, 30.8) U/L, respectively. The high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were 1.07 (0.90, 1.23) mmol/L, 1.02 (0.86, 1.19) mmol/L, and 1.03 (0.87,1.21) mmol/L, respectively. Sequentially measured uric acid was (322.98 ± 84.51) μmol/L, (346.57 ± 89.49) μmol/L, and (344.89 ±89.67) μmol/L, respectively. Sequentially measured creatinine was 69.6 (62.9, 79.0) μmol/L, 73.0 (65.0, 83.5) μmol/L, and 73.0 (65.0, 83.0) μmol/L, respectively. The sequential analysis of obesity proportion was 74.3%, 81.7%, and 76.5%, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Compared with the NAFLD population, the MAFLD and MASLD populations were predominantly male, obese, and had a history of smoking and drinking. The levels of γ-glutamyltransferase, uric acid, and creatinine were slightly higher, while the levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol were lower. MASLD appeared in NAFLD and MAFLD on the basis of inheritance and progression, emphasizing once again the important role of metabolic factors in a fatty liver.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Measurement of the Centrality Dependence of the Dijet Yield in p+Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:102301. Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
Searches for new resonances are performed using an unsupervised anomaly-detection technique. Events with at least one electron or muon are selected from 140 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded by ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider. The approach involves training an autoencoder on data, and subsequently defining anomalous regions based on the reconstruction loss of the decoder. Studies focus on nine invariant mass spectra that contain pairs of objects consisting of one light jet or b jet and either one lepton (e,μ), photon, or second light jet or b jet in the anomalous regions. No significant deviations from the background hypotheses are observed. Limits on contributions from generic Gaussian signals with various widths of the resonance mass are obtained for nine invariant masses in the anomalous regions.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of the TRIANGLE operation after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced pancreatic cancer(LAPC). Methods: This study is a retrospective case series analysis. Between January 2020 and December 2022, a total of 103 patients were diagnosed as LAPC who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy at the Pancreas Center, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. Among them, 26 patients (25.2%) underwent the TRIANGLE operation. There were 15 males and 11 females, with a age of (59±7) years (range: 49 to 74 years). The pre-treatment serum CA19-9(M(IQR)) was 248.8(391.6)U/ml (range: 0 to 1 428 U/ml),and the serum carcinoembryonic antigen was 4.1(3.8)μg/L(range: 1.4 to 13.4 μg/L). The neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens included: mFOLFIRINOX regimen in 6 cases(23.1%), GnP regimen in 14 cases(53.8%), and mFOLFIRINOX+GnP regimen in 6 cases(23.1%). The follow-up duration extended until June 2023 or until the occurrence of the patient's death or loss to follow-up. The Kaplan-Meier method was employed to estimate the 1-year and 3-year overall survival rates. Results: After neoadjuvant chemotherapy,CA19-9 levels decreased by 92.3(40.1)%(range:2.1% to 97.7%). Evaluation of the response to treatment revealed 13 cases(50.0%) of stable disease,11 cases(42.3%) of partial response, and 2 cases(7.7%) of complete response. The surgical operation consisted of 12 cases(46.2%) of pancreaticoduodenectomy,12 cases(46.2%) of distal pancreatectomy, and 2 cases(7.7%) of total pancreatectomy. Margin determination was based on the "standardised pathology protocol" and the "1 mm" principle. No R2 and R1(direct) resections were observed, while the R0 resection rate was 61.5%(16/26), and the R1(1 mm) resection rate was 38.5%(10/26).The R1(1 mm) resection rates for the anterior margin, posterior margin, transected margin, portal vein groove margin, and uncinate margin were 23.1%(6/26),19.2%(5/26),12.5%(3/24),2/14, and 1/12, respectively. The overall postoperative complication rate was 57.8%(15/26),with major complications including grade B/C pancreatic fistula 25.0%(6/24,excluding 2 cases of total pancreatectomy),delayed gastric emptying in 23.1%(6/26),wound complications 11.5%(3/26),postoperative hemorrhage 7.7%(2/26), chylous fistula 7.7%(2/26) and bile fistula 3.8%(1/26). No reoperation was performed during the perioperative period(<90 days). One patient died on the 32nd day postoperatively due to a ruptured pseudoaneurysm. A total of 25 patients were followed up,with a follow-up time of 21(24)months(range: 8 to 42 months). During the follow-up period,8 cases(32.0%) died due to tumor recurrence and metastasis, while 17 patients(68.0%) remained alive, including 11 cases of disease-free survival,5 cases of distant metastasis, and 1 case of local recurrence. The overall survival rates at 1- and 3-year after the initiation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy were 95.8% and 58.9%, respectively. The overall survival rates at 1- and 3-year after surgery were 77.7% and 57.8%, respectively. Conclusion: Performing pancreatoduodenectomy according to the Heidelberg triangle protocol in LAPC patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy might increase the R0 resection rate without increasing perioperative mortality or the incidence of major postoperative complications.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WZγ production and a measurement of its cross section using 140.1±1.2 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The WZγ production cross section, with both the W and Z bosons decaying leptonically, pp→WZγ→ℓ^{'}^{±}νℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}γ (ℓ^{(^{'})}=e, μ), is measured in a fiducial phase-space region defined such that the leptons and the photon have high transverse momentum and the photon is isolated. The cross section is found to be 2.01±0.30(stat)±0.16(syst) fb. The corresponding standard model predicted cross section calculated at next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and at leading order in the electroweak coupling constant is 1.50±0.06 fb. The observed significance of the WZγ signal is 6.3σ, compared with an expected significance of 5.0σ.

Abstract
A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.8, 11.1] GeV. This search explores new parameter space not previously excluded by other experiments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The paper observes regulation of the expression levels of NLRP3 and TLR4 in hippocampal CA1 neurons in CUMS mice by aerobic exercise with constructing CUMS depression mouse model, in order to explore the neuroprotective mechanism of aerobic exercise on the hippocampus of depressed mice. STUDY DESIGN AND METHOD 24 healthy male 8-week-old C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into CG, MG and ME. Thirteen stress-stimulating factors were randomly formulated into a CUMS stress-stimulating program. The mice were underwent 28 days of CUMS depression model, referenced clinical means for experimental research. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Yichun University (YCUEC IRB number LSK NO.2022.18). After model preparation, ME mice were subjected to moderate-intensity treadmill exercise training for 8 weeks. TST, FST and SPT were used to detect the depression-like behaviors of the mice in each group. Nissl staining was used to compare the cell morphology in the CA1 region of the mouse hippocampus. Immunohistochemical staining and western blot were used to detect the changes in the expression levels of NLRP3, TLR4 and other proteins in the CA1 region of the mouse hippocampus. RESULTS The results of neurobehavioral assessment showed that, the immobility time of TST and FST were significantly increased, and SPT index was significantly decreased of MG mice. Compared with MG, ME mice significantly improved depression-like behaviors such as TST, FST and SPT index. Nissl staining showed that the morphology of neurons in CA1 region of hippocampus of MG mice were mostly vacuolar-like, with severe nuclear pyknosis. Abnormal morphological changes such as vacuolar-like and pyknotic pyknosis of neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region of ME mice were significantly reduced. Protein expression test showed that the number of NLRP3, TLR4, IL-1β and IL-10 positive neurons in hippocampal CA1 region of MG mice increased significantly compared with CG, and the proportion of positive cells increased significantly, while NLRP3 and TLR4 positive neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region of ME mice were significantly reduced, the proportion of TLR4 positive cells was significantly reduced. CONCLUSION Systematic moderate-intensity exercise can effectively improve the depression-like behavior of CUMS depressed mice through the expression of TLR4/NLRP3 inflammatory signaling pathway, and provide an effective experimental basis for the clinical rehabilitation treatment of depression.

EuCd_{2}As_{2}: A Magnetic Semiconductor. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:186704. Abstract
EuCd_{2}As_{2} is now widely accepted as a topological semimetal in which a Weyl phase is induced by an external magnetic field. We challenge this view through firm experimental evidence using a combination of electronic transport, optical spectroscopy, and excited-state photoemission spectroscopy. We show that the EuCd_{2}As_{2} is in fact a semiconductor with a gap of 0.77 eV. We show that the externally applied magnetic field has a profound impact on the electronic band structure of this system. This is manifested by a huge decrease of the observed band gap, as large as 125 meV at 2 T, and, consequently, by a giant redshift of the interband absorption edge. However, the semiconductor nature of the material remains preserved. EuCd_{2}As_{2} is therefore a magnetic semiconductor rather than a Dirac or Weyl semimetal, as suggested by ab initio computations carried out within the local spin-density approximation.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36} fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

Abstract
AIMS The epidemiological evidence regarding the impact of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) on the risk of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases (CCVDs) is controversial. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to examine the association between UPF consumption and the risk of CCVDs within cohort studies. DATA SYNTHESIS A systematic literature search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed/Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library databases, covering the inception of these databases up until January 1st, 2023. A total of 39 cohort studies involving 63,573,312 human participants were deemed eligible according to the inclusion criteria. Utilizing random-effects models, risk ratios (RRs) were estimated to determine the pooled results. Our findings indicate a significant association between a higher consumption of UPF and an increased likelihood of CCVDs (RR: 1.08, 95% CI: 1.01-1.16, I2 = 89%; p < 0.01) compared to individuals who either abstain from or consume lesser amounts of UPF. Nonlinear dose-response meta-analyses showed that a consistent high intake of UPFs was associated with an elevated risk of developing CCVDs (p non-linearity <0.001). Notably, the risk of CCVDs escalated by approximately 7% with an UPF intake of up to 1 serving per day. Subgroup analysis further revealed a significant augmentation in the risk of total CVD and hypertension with increased UPF consumption. CONCLUSIONS A higher intake of UPF significantly increases the risk of developing CCVDs. Prospective studies controlling for confounding factors are needed to validate the relationship between UPF intake and the development of CCVDs.

Abstract
Constructing high-quality homojunctions plays a pivotal role for the advancement of two-dimensional transition metal sulfide (TMDC) based optoelectronic devices. Here, a lateral PdSe2 p-i-n homojunction is constructed by electrostatic doping. Electrical measurements reveal that the homojunction diode exhibits a strong rectifying characteristic with a rectification ratio exceeding 104 and an ideality factor approaching 1. When functioning in photovoltaic mode, the device achieves a high responsivity of 1.1 A/W under 1064 nm illumination, with a specific detectivity of 1.3 × 1011 Jones and a high linearity of 45 dB. Benefiting from the lateral p-i-n structure, the junction capacitance is significantly reduced, and an ultrafast response (3/6 μs) is obtained. Additionally, the photodiode has the capability of polarization distinction due to the unique in-plane anisotropic structure of PdSe2, exhibiting a dichroic ratio of 1.6 at a 1064 nm wavelength. This high-performance polarization-sensitive near-infrared photodetector exhibits great potential in the next-generation optoelectronic applications.

Measurement of the Sensitivity of Two-Particle Correlations in pp Collisions to the Presence of Hard Scatterings. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:162301. Abstract
A key open question in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy pp collisions is the relationship between the "ridge"-i.e., the observed azimuthal correlations between particles in the underlying event that extend over all rapidities-and hard or semihard scattering processes. In particular, it is not known whether jets or their soft fragments are correlated with particles in the underlying event. To address this question, two-particle correlations are measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 15.8 pb^{-1}, in two different configurations. In the first case, charged particles associated with jets are excluded from the correlation analysis, while in the second case, correlations are measured between particles within jets and charged particles from the underlying event. Second-order flow coefficients, v_{2}, are presented as a function of event multiplicity and transverse momentum. These measurements show that excluding particles associated with jets does not affect the measured correlations. Moreover, particles associated with jets do not exhibit any significant azimuthal correlations with the underlying event, ruling out hard processes contributing to the ridge.

Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Strong Constraints on Jet Quenching in Centrality-Dependent p+Pb Collisions at 5.02 TeV from ATLAS. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:072301. Abstract
Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions. In contrast, while jet quenching is observed in Pb+Pb collisions, no evidence has been found in these small systems to date, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the system created in these collisions. The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider has measured the yield of charged hadrons correlated with reconstructed jets in 0.36 nb^{-1} of p+Pb and 3.6 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at 5.02 TeV. The yields of charged hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>0.5 GeV near and opposite in azimuth to jets with p_{T}^{jet}>30 or 60 GeV, and the ratios of these yields between p+Pb and pp collisions, I_{pPb}, are reported. The collision centrality of p+Pb events is categorized by the energy deposited by forward neutrons from the struck nucleus. The I_{pPb} values are consistent with unity within a few percent for hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>4 GeV at all centralities. These data provide new, strong constraints that preclude almost any parton energy loss in central p+Pb collisions.

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data. Constraints are set on the parameters describing the strength of the CP-odd component in the coupling between the Higgs boson and the electroweak gauge bosons in two effective field theory bases: d[over ˜] in the HISZ basis and c_{HW[over ˜]} in the Warsaw basis. The results presented are the most stringent constraints on CP violation in the coupling between Higgs and weak bosons. The 95% C.L. constraint on d[over ˜] is derived for the first time and the 95% C.L. constraint on c_{HW[over ˜]} has been improved by a factor of 5 compared to the previous measurement.

Abstract
Cruznema velatum isolated from soil in a chestnut orchard located at Guangdong province, China, is redescribed with morphology, molecular barcoding sequences, and transcriptome data. The morphological comparison for C. velatum and six other valid species is provided. Phylogeny analysis suggests genus Cruznema is monophyletic. The species is amphimix, can be cultured with Escherichia coli in 7-9 days from egg to egg-laying adult, and has a lifespan of 11 to 14 days at 20°C. The transcription data generated 45,366 unigenes; 29.9%, 31.3%, 24.8%, and 18.6% of unigenes were annotated in KOG, SwissProt, GO, and KEGG, respectively. Further gene function analysis demonstrated that C. velatum share the same riboflavin, lipoic acid, and vitamin B6 metabolic pathways with Caenorhabditis elegans and Pristionchus pacificus.

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the positive rate of left posterior lymph nodes of the superior mesenteric artery (14cd-LN) in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic head carcinoma,to analyze the impact of 14cd-LN dissection on lymph node staging and tumor TNM staging. Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 103 consecutive patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy at Pancreatic Center, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January to December 2022 were analyzed, retrospectively. There were 69 males and 34 females, with an age(M (IQR))of 63.0 (14.0) years (range:48.0 to 86.0 years). The χ2 test and Fisher's exact probability method was used for comparison of the count data between the groups, respectively. The rank sum test was used for comparison of the measurement data between groups. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyzes were used for the analysis of risk factors. Results: All 103 patients underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy successfully using the left-sided uncinate process and the artery first approach. Pathological examination showed pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in all cases. The location of the tumors was the pancreatic head in 40 cases, pancreatic head-uncinate in 45 cases, and pancreatic head-neck in 18 cases. Of the 103 patients,38 cases had moderately differentiated tumor and 65 cases had poorly differentiated tumor. The diameter of the lesions was 3.2 (0.8) cm (range:1.7 to 6.5 cm),the number of lymph nodes harvested was 25 (10) (range:11 to 53),and the number of positive lymph nodes was 1 (3) (range:0 to 40). The lymph node stage was stage N0 in 35 cases (34.0%),stage N1 in 43 cases (41.7%),and stage N2 in 25 cases (24.3%). TNM staging was stage ⅠA in 5 cases (4.9%),stage ⅠB in 19 cases (18.4%),stage ⅡA in 2 cases (1.9%),stage ⅡB in 38 cases (36.9%),stage Ⅲ in 38 cases (36.9%),and stage Ⅳ in 1 case (1.0%). In 103 patients with pancreatic head cancer, the overall positivity rate for 14cd-LN was 31.1% (32/103),and the positive rates for 14c-LN and 14d-LN were 21.4% (22/103) and 18.4% (19/103),respectively. 14cd-LN dissection increased the number of lymph nodes (P<0.01) and positive lymph nodes (P<0.01). As a result of the 14cd-LN dissection, the lymph node stage was changed in 6 patients, including 5 patients changed from N0 to N1 and 1 patient changed from N1 to N2. Similarly, the TNM stage was changed in 5 patients, including 2 patients changed from stage ⅠB to ⅡB,2 patients changed from stage ⅡA to ⅡB,and 1 patient changed from stage ⅡB to Ⅲ. Tumors located in the pancreatic head-uncinate (OR=3.43,95%CI:1.08 to 10.93,P=0.037) and the positivity of 7,8,9,12 LN (OR=5.45,95%CI:1.45 to 20.44,P=0.012) were independent risk factors for 14c-LN metastasis; while tumors with diameter >3 cm (OR=3.93,95%CI:1.08 to 14.33,P=0.038) and the positivity of 7,8,9,12 LN (OR=11.09,95%CI:2.69 to 45.80,P=0.001) were independent risk factors for 14d-LN metastasis. Conclusion: Due to its high positive rate in pancreatic head cancer, dissection of 14cd-LN during pancreaticoduodenectomy should be recommended, which can increase the number of lymph nodes harvested, provide a more accurate lymph node staging and TNM staging.

Abstract
Background We aimed to develop and validate a prognostic model for predicting malignant brain oedema in patients with acute ischaemic stroke in a real-world setting of practice. Methods A prospective multicentre study enrolled adult patients with acute ischaemic stroke with brain CT < 24 h of onset of symptoms admitted to nine tertiary-level hospitals in China between September 2017 and December 2019. Malignant brain oedema was defined as any patient who had decompressive craniectomy, discharge in coma, or in-hospital death attributed to symptomatic brain swelling. The derivation cohort was a consecutive cohort of patients from one centre and the validation cohort was non-consecutive patients from the other centres. Multivariable logistic regression was used to define independent predictors from baseline clinical characteristics, imaging features, complications, and management. A web-based nomogram and a risk score were developed based on the final model. Model performance was assessed for discrimination and calibration in both derivation and validation cohorts. The study is registered, NCT03222024. Findings Based on the derivation cohort (n = 1627), the model was developed with seven variables including large infarct (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 40.90, 95% CI 20.20-82.80), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score (OR 1.09, 1.06-1.12), thrombolysis (OR 2.11, 1.18-3.78), endovascular treatment (OR 2.87, 1.47-5.59), pneumonia (OR 2.47, 1.53-3.97), brain atrophy (OR 0.57, 0.37-0.86), and recanalisation (OR 0.36, 0.17-0.75). The classification threshold of a predicted probability ≥0.14 showed good discrimination and calibration in both derivation cohort (area under the receiver-operating curve [AUC] 0.90, 0.87-0.92; sensitivity 0.95, 0.92-0.98) and validation cohort (n = 556, AUC 0.88, 0.82-0.95; sensitivity 0.84, 0.73-0.95). The risk score based on this model had a total point that ranged from -1 to 20, with an optimal score of ≥10 showing good discrimination and calibration in both derivation (AUC 0.89, 0.87-0.92; sensitivity 0.95, 0.92-0.98) and validation (AUC 0.88, 0.82-0.95; sensitivity 0.84, 0.73-0.95) cohorts. Interpretation The INTEP-AR model (i.e. large Infarct, NIHSS score, Thrombolysis, Endovascular treatment, Pneumonia, brain Atrophy, and Recanalisation) incorporating multiple clinical and radiological characteristics has shown good prognostic value for predicting malignant brain oedema after acute ischaemic stroke. Abstract
PURPOSE The role of computed tomography (CT) in the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA) warrants attention, since the success application of adrenal venous sampling (AVS) remains limited. We aimed to investigate the value of CT-based volumetric indicators, including left-versus-right-adrenal-volume ratio (L/Rv) and left-subtract-right-adrenal-volume difference (L - Rv), in the diagnosis of unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA). METHODS A retrospective case-control study included 153 patients with PA and 1272 controls. AVS was used to classify patients into bilateral disease, left-sided disease, and right-sided disease groups. RESULTS Adrenal gland volume on both sides of PA patients was significantly larger than controls. The optimal cutoff values of L/Rv and L - Rv were 1.417 [area under the curve (AUC) 0.864] and 1.185 (AUC 0.827), respectively, for the diagnosis of left-sided PA, and 1.030 (AUC 0.767) and 0.220 (AUC 0.769), respectively, for the diagnosis of right-sided PA. The mean AUC for subsequent cross-validation ranged from 0.77 ± 0.03 to 0.86 ± 0.02. Based on the optimal cutoff values, the combination of L/Rv and L - Rv detected 69.6% of patients with left-sided PA and 74.3% of patients with right-sided PA, with a specificity of 93.5% and 89.0%, respectively. For a better clinical application, we reported the sub-optimal cutoffs corresponding to a specificity of 95%. A L/Rv higher than 1.431 and a L - Rv higher than 3.185 as sub-optimal cutoff values was detected in 26.1% of patients with left-sided PA (specificity: 97.2%). A L/Rv smaller than 0.892 and a L - Rv smaller than -0.640 could detect 48.6% of patients with right-sided PA (specificity: 97.5%). CONCLUSIONS CT-based L/Rv and L - Rv performed well in predicting UPA. The combination of L/Rv and L - Rv may serve as a potential indicator for guiding surgical decision making in centers without AVS programs.

An Investigation of Compressive Creep Aging Behavior of Al-Cu-Li Alloy Pre-Treated by Compressive Plastic Deformation and Artificial Aging. MATERIALS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2023; 16:2054. [PMID: 36903169 PMCID: PMC10003881 DOI: 10.3390/ma16052054] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/15/2023] [Revised: 02/25/2023] [Accepted: 02/27/2023] [Indexed: 06/18/2023]
Abstract
In this paper, the effects of compressive pre-deformation and successive pre-artificial aging on the compressive creep aging behavior and microstructure evolution of the Al-Cu-Li alloy have been studied. Severe hot deformation mainly occurs near the grain boundaries during the compressive creep initially, which steadily extends to the grain interior. After that, the T1 phases will obtain a low radius-thickness ratio. The secondary T1 phases in pre-deformed samples usually only nucleate on dislocation loops or Shockley incomplete dislocations induced by movable dislocations during creep, which are especially prevalent in low plastic pre-deformation. For all pre-deformed and pre-aged samples, two precipitation situations exist. When pre-deformation is low (3% and 6%), solute atoms (Cu and Li) can be consumed prematurely during pre-aging at 200 °C, with dispersed coherent Li-rich clusters in the matrix. Then, the pre-aged samples with low pre-deformation no longer have the ability to form secondary T1 phases in large quantities during subsequent creep. When dislocation entangles seriously to some extent, a large quantity of stacking faults, together with a "Suzuki atmosphere" containing Cu and Li, can provide the nucleation sites for the secondary T1 phase, even when pre-aged at 200 °C. The sample, pre-deformed by 9% and pre-aged at 200 °C, displays excellent dimensional stability during compressive creep because of the mutual reinforcement of entangled dislocations and pre-formed secondary T1 phases. In order to decrease the total creep strain, increasing the pre-deformation level is more effective than pre-aging.

Crystallization Kinetics of Modified Nanocellulose/Monomer Casting Nylon Composites. Polymers (Basel) 2023; 15:polym15030719. Abstract
Polyisocyanate and caprolactone were used to chemically functionalize nanocellulose (CNF). Composites of CNF, caprolactone-modified nanocellulose (CNF-CL) and polyisocyanate-modified nanocellulose (CNF-JQ)/MC nylon were fabricated by anionic ring-opening polymerization. The effects of the crystal structure, crystal morphology and crystallization process of MC nylon composites have been characterized by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), polarized optical microscopy(POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Isothermal crystallization kinetics were analyzed using the Avrami equation, and the crystallization rate, half-time, and Avrami exponent were calculated. The results show that the nucleation effects of CNF-JQ/MC nylon composites is increased with the CNF-JQ increase, and it is best compared with MC nylon, CNF/MC nylon and CNF-CL/MC nylon composites, so CNF-JQ can play the role of effective nucleating agent in MC nylon. We also discussed the non-isothermal crystallization of the composites. Analysis of the Jeziorny and Mo model demonstrates that the Zc values of CNF, CNF-CL, CNF-JQ/MC nylon composites increase, and the F(T) values decrease in order. This indicates that CNF-JQ can better promote the crystallization rate of non-isothermal crystallization of MC nylon. The results of this work demonstrate that CNF-JQ can be an effective nucleation agent and increase the crystallization rate of MC nylon compared with CNF-CL. The activation energy of the composites was studied using the kissing method, and the results showed that CNF-CL decreased the activation energy of MC nylon, and CNF and CNF-JQ increased the activation energy of MC nylon.

Abstract
Objective: In this study, the occupational fatigue caused by long-time sitting-posture work was studied. Also, the physical and psychological factors which affect on human fatigue of workers suffering from monotonous sitting-position were analyzed. Methods: In 2021, a total of 30 subjects, including 15 males and 15 females, were selected to complete a 4-hour simulated sitting-position assembly task in the laboratory. The "Borg's RPE" was used to measure the subjects' subjective fatigue and feeling of monotony, the polyconductive physiological recorder was used to measure the subjects' EMG, and the wireless motion-capture evaluation system was used to measure the kinematics of the subjects. Results: When engaged in monotonous work tasks, there was a significant positive correlation between workers' monotony and subjective fatigue, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.976 to 0.988 (P<0.050) . At the beginning of work, the subjective fatigue of the neck was more significant (P=0.046) . As working time increased, the back fatigue was significantly higher than that of the neck (P=0.029) . After 4 hours of work, the MPF value of the back erector spinae EMG decreased significantly (P=0.025) . The body posture data showed that the shoulder and neck indicators began to change significantly after about 2 hours of work (P(neck)=0.032, P(shoulder)=0.021) . The waist and hip indicators began to change significantly after about 4 hours of work (P(left hip)=0.031, P(right hip)=0.028) . The flexion angle of the neck first increased and then decreased; the flexion angle of the waist and hip continued to increase with the working time. Conclusion: It was found that the fatigue effect of monotonous sitting-posture work on the operator is mainly reflected in the lower back. The monotony of the work exacerbates the operator's subjective fatigue feeling. The operator should be given corresponding protection and set the work content reasonably. It is recommended to have appropriate activities or short breaks every 2 work-hour.

Abstract
In recent years, biochar, a porous carbon-based material, has gained attention for its application prospects in contaminated soil remediation and soil improvement. Biochar-derived organic matter has a key role in influencing the migration and transformation of soil elements and pollutants. However, existing research concerning the molecular characteristics of biochar-derived organic matter is limited. Here, we used four polar solvents - dichloromethane (CH2Cl2), acetone (CH3COCH3), methanol (CH3OH), and distilled water (H2O) - to extract organic matter from soybean straw biochar and wheat straw biochar by accelerated solvent extraction (ASE). We characterized the extracts using Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS). We found considerable differences in organic matter according to the extraction solvents; such differences were related to the polarity of the solvent, as well as intermolecular forces between the solvent and organic matter. CH3OH extracted the most biochar-extractable organic matter components because CH3OH can weaken or destroy oxygen bridge bonds in biochar and form hydrogen bonds with small-molecule organic compounds. CH3OH and H2O have strong extraction capacity for compounds containing heteroatoms. CH2Cl2-extractable organic matter is relatively labile and bioavailable, while CH3OH- and H2O-extractable organic matters are relatively stable. In addition, the binding capacity of biochar-derived organic matter for minerals and pollutants differed among fractions, in part because of differences in molecular weight, atomic O/C and H/C ratios, heteroatom distribution, and biomolecular compounds present in biochar-derived organic matter. The findings in this study help to select appropriate extractants to analyze biochar-derived organic matter for various research purposes, and provides a theoretical basis for biochar-based remediation of contaminated soil.

Abstract
Dyslipidemia is an important risk factor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Statins delay the occurrence and development of ASCVD, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events and death. Due to safety concerns, there exist insufficient use of lipid-lowering agents and a high withdrawal rate of the agents in the elderly. To promote the prevention and treatment of ASCVD, this expert consensus is issued and focuses on the management of dyslipidemia of Chinese elderly basing on the clinical evidence of the use of lipid-lowering drugs by the elderly, and the lipid management guidelines and expert consensus recommendations at home and abroad.

[Predictive value of serum HBV RNA for therapeutic effect of entecavir in patients with chronic hepatitis B]. NAN FANG YI KE DA XUE XUE BAO = JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY 2022; 42:1250-1255. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the value of HBV RNA for predicting the therapeutic effect of long-term entecavir (ETV) antiviral therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). METHODS Serum samples were collected from 59 CHB patients treated with ETV for 96 or 108 months. HBV RNA levels, HBV DNA levels, and serological marker (HBeAg) levels were measured at baseline and 3, 6, 9, 12, 36, 72, and 96 (or 108) months during the therapy. RESULTS Although HBV RNA level decreased after 12 and 36 months of ETV antiviral therapy, no significance changes occurred in HBV RNA negative conversion rate (P>0.05). After 72 months of treatment or longer, 33 patients had HBV RNA levels lower than 100 copies/mL, and among them 29 patients had HBV RNA levels lower than the detection limit, and HBV RNA negative conversion rate was statistically significant (P < 0.05). A lower HBV RNA level was associated with a higher HBeAg negative conversion rate (P < 0.05). Age and HBV RNA level were positively correlated with HBeAg negative conversion rate (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Prolonged ETV antiviral therapy results in better clearance of HBV RNA and a higher negative conversion rate in CHB patients. The length of antiviral therapy and age are positively correlated with the negative conversion rate of HBV RNA, and earlier administration of the antiviral treatment achieves better therapeutic effect. Serum HBV RNA level can be used as an indicator for predicting conversion to negative HBeAg in CHB patients receiving ETV therapy.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Tirofiban is a highly selective nonpeptide antagonist of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor, which reversibly inhibits platelet aggregation. It remains uncertain whether intravenous tirofiban is effective to improve functional outcomes for patients with large vessel occlusion ischemic stroke undergoing endovascular thrombectomy. OBJECTIVE To assess the efficacy and adverse events of intravenous tirofiban before endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS This investigator-initiated, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was implemented at 55 hospitals in China, enrolling 948 patients with stroke and proximal intracranial large vessel occlusion presenting within 24 hours of time last known well. Recruitment took place between October 10, 2018, and October 31, 2021, with final follow-up on January 15, 2022. INTERVENTIONS Participants received intravenous tirofiban (n = 463) or placebo (n = 485) prior to endovascular thrombectomy. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES The primary outcome was disability level at 90 days as measured by overall distribution of the modified Rankin Scale scores from 0 (no symptoms) to 6 (death). The primary safety outcome was the incidence of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage within 48 hours. RESULTS Among 948 patients randomized (mean age, 67 years; 391 [41.2%] women), 948 (100%) completed the trial. The median (IQR) 90-day modified Rankin Scale score in the tirofiban group vs placebo group was 3 (1-4) vs 3 (1-4). The adjusted common odds ratio for a lower level of disability with tirofiban vs placebo was 1.08 (95% CI, 0.86-1.36). Incidence of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage was 9.7% in the tirofiban group vs 6.4% in the placebo group (difference, 3.3% [95% CI, -0.2% to 6.8%]). CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE Among patients with large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke undergoing endovascular thrombectomy, treatment with intravenous tirofiban, compared with placebo, before endovascular therapy resulted in no significant difference in disability severity at 90 days. The findings do not support use of intravenous tirofiban before endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke. Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Association between Allium vegetables and the risk of non-digestive tract cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort and case-control studies. Cancer Treat Res Commun 2022; 32:100598. Abstract
PURPOSE To clarify the role of Allium vegetables in non-digestive tract cancer, we conducted this meta-analysis. METHODS Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, we conducted a meta-analysis of published studies assessing the associations between Allium vegetables and the risk of non-digestive tract cancer. We estimated the pooled odds ratio (OR) of non-digestive tract cancer for the highest and lowest Allium vegetable consumption using random-effects models. A dose-response regression model was used to evaluate the relationship between Allium vegetables and non-digestive tract cancer risk. RESULTS In a pooled analysis of 25 studies (11 cohort and 14 case-control studies) on Allium vegetables, a total of 18,070 patients with non-digestive tract cancer were finally included. Integrated OR of non-digestive tract cancer was 0.86 [95% confidence interval (CI):0.80-0.93] for the highest versus the lowest Allium vegetable consumption for all studies, 0.78 (95% CI:0.69-0.90) for case-control studies and 0.94 (95%CI: 0.87-1.02) for cohort studies. Sensitivity analysis showed that the pooled effect was stable. No apparent publication bias was identified in this study; however, the cumulative meta-analysis suggested that studies conducted earlier (from 1994 to 1997) might be a source of heterogeneity. Dose-response regression model indicated that Allium vegetable consumption was associated with the risk of non-digestive tract cancer (P = 0.001 for non-linearity; P = 0.032 for linearity). CONCLUSION Higher Allium vegetable consumption could reduce the risk of non-digestive tract cancers, demonstrating the protective role of Allium vegetables.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Abstract
Objective This study was conducted to determine the safety and efficacy of the Esperance® Distal Access Catheter (0.071”), a novel large bore aspiration catheter in treating acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with large vessel occlusion (LVO). Methods A prospective multicenter clinical trial involving 15 stroke centers was performed. Baseline characteristics, procedural data, and angiographic and clinical outcomes of all acute stroke procedures (from May 2020 to March 2021) using the novel large bore aspiration catheter were analyzed. Results During the study period, 160 consecutive patients were recruited. The mean age and median baseline NIHSS were 65.4 years and 16, respectively. Successful reperfusion was achieved in 147 (91.9%) cases [at least modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) 2b] with aspiration alone, with complete reperfusion (mTICI 3) in 94 (58.8%) cases. Successful/complete first pass reperfusion was achieved in 104 (64.60%) cases, including mTICI 2b in 34 (21.1%) cases and mTICI 3 in 70 (43.5%) cases. The time from groin puncture to successful reperfusion was 44 (33, 62) min. There were 16 (9.9%) cases requiring rescue therapy using stent-retriever. Procedure-related complications included 2 (1.3%) cases of arterial perforation, 2 (1.3%) cases of arterial dissection, 12 (7.5%) cases of distal embolization, and 1(0.6%) case of puncture site infection. The rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) was 3.8% and mortality rate was 13.8%. A total of 99 (62.3%) cases had a favorable outcome (mRS 0–2) at 90 days. Conclusions In current practice, the first-line aspiration approach with the Esperance® Distal Access Catheter is safe and efficacious. This device may achieve high reperfusion rates with lower instances of rescue stent retriever therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the mechanism by which inositol-requiring enzyme-1α (IRE1α) regulates autophagy function of chondrocytes through calcium homeostasis endoplasmic reticulum protein (CHERP). METHODS Cultured human chondrocytes (C28/I2 cells) were treated with tunicamycin, 4μ8c, rapamycin, or both 4μ8c and rapamycin, and the expressions of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress- and autophagy-related proteins were detected with Western blotting. Primary chondrocytes from ERN1 knockout (ERN1 CKO) mice and wild-type mice were examined for ATG5 and ATG7 mRNA expressions, IRE1α and p-IRE1α protein expressions, and intracellular calcium ion content using qPCR, Western blotting and flow cytometry. The effect of bafilomycin A1 treatment on LC3 Ⅱ/LC3 Ⅰ ratio in the isolated chondrocytes was assessed with Western blotting. Changes in autophagic flux of the chondrocytes in response to rapamycin treatment were detected using autophagy dual fluorescent virus. The changes in autophagy level in C28/I2 cells overexpressing CHERP and IRE1α were detected using immunofluorescence assay. RESULTS Tunicamycin treatment significantly up-regulated ER stress-related proteins and LC3 Ⅱ/LC3 Ⅰ ratio and down-regulated the expression of p62 in C28/I2 cells (P < 0.05). Rapamycin obviously up-regulated LC3 Ⅱ/LC3 Ⅰ ratio (P < 0.001) in C28/I2 cells, but this effect was significantly attenuated by co-treatment with 4μ8c (P < 0.05). Compared with the cells from the wild-type mice, the primary chondrocytes from ERN1 knockout mice showed significantly down-regulated mRNA levels of ERN1 (P < 0.01), ATG5 (P < 0.001) and ATG7 (P < 0.001), lowered or even lost expressions of IRE1α and p-IRE1α proteins (PP < 0.01), and increased expression of CHERP (P < 0.05) and intracellular calcium ion content (P < 0.001). Bafilomycin A1 treatment obviously increased LC3 Ⅱ/ LC3 Ⅰ ratio in the chondrocytes from both wild-type and ERN1 knockout mice (P < 0.01 or 0.05), but the increment was more obvious in the wild-type chondrocytes (P < 0.05). Treatment with autophagy dual-fluorescence virus resulted in a significantly greater fluorescence intensity of LC3-GFP in rapamycin-treated ERN1 CKO chondrocytes than in wild-type chondrocytes (P < 0.05). In C28/I2 cells, overexpression of CHERP obviously decreased the fluorescence intensity of LC3, and overexpression of IRE1α enhanced the fluorescence intensity and partially rescued the fluorescence reduction of LC3 caused by CHERP. CONCLUSION IRE1α deficiency impairs autophagy in chondrocytes by upregulating CHERP and increasing intracellular calcium ion content.

Determination of the ^{27}Al Neutron Distribution Radius from a Parity-Violating Electron Scattering Measurement. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:132501. [PMID: 35426696 DOI: 10.1103/physrevlett.128.132501] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/30/2021] [Accepted: 03/02/2022] [Indexed: 06/14/2023]
Abstract
We report the first measurement of the parity-violating elastic electron scattering asymmetry on ^{27}Al. The ^{27}Al elastic asymmetry is A_{PV}=2.16±0.11(stat)±0.16(syst) ppm, and was measured at ⟨Q^{2}⟩=0.02357±0.00010 GeV^{2}, ⟨θ_{lab}⟩=7.61°±0.02°, and ⟨E_{lab}⟩=1.157 GeV with the Q_{weak} apparatus at Jefferson Lab. Predictions using a simple Born approximation as well as more sophisticated distorted-wave calculations are in good agreement with this result. From this asymmetry the ^{27}Al neutron radius R_{n}=2.89±0.12 fm was determined using a many-models correlation technique. The corresponding neutron skin thickness R_{n}-R_{p}=-0.04±0.12 fm is small, as expected for a light nucleus with a neutron excess of only 1. This result thus serves as a successful benchmark for electroweak determinations of neutron radii on heavier nuclei. A tree-level approach was used to extract the ^{27}Al weak radius R_{w}=3.00±0.15 fm, and the weak skin thickness R_{wk}-R_{ch}=-0.04±0.15 fm. The weak form factor at this Q^{2} is F_{wk}=0.39±0.04.

[Comparative clinical efficacy analysis of pancreatoduodenectomy for distal bile duct and pancreatic head cancer: a report of 1 005 cases]. ZHONGHUA WAI KE ZA ZHI [CHINESE JOURNAL OF SURGERY] 2022; 60:128-133. [PMID: 35012271 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn112139-20210909-00431] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 06/14/2023]
Abstract
Objective: To compare and analyze the clinical efficacy of pancreaticoduodenectomy for distal bile duct cancer and pancreatic head cancer. Methods: Clinical data of 1 005 patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy and postoperative pathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of distal bile duct cancer and pancreatic head cancer at the Pancreas Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2016 to December 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 112 cases in the distal bile duct cancer group, 71 males and 41 females, with age (M(IQR)) of 65(15) years(range: 40 to 87 years); 893 cases in the pancreatic head cancer group, 534 males and 359 females, with age of 64(13)years(range: 16 to 91 years). The differences between clinicopathological characteristics and postoperative overall survival of the two groups were analyzed by χ2 test, Fisher's exact probability method, rank sum test or log-rank test, respectively. The difference in postoperative overall survival between the two groups was compared using Kaplan-Meier method after propensity score matching (1∶1). Results: Compared with the pancreatic head cancer group, the distal bile duct cancer group had shorter operative time (240.0(134.0) minutes vs. 261.0(97.0) minutes, Z=2.712, P=0.007),less proportion of combined venous resection (4.5% (5/112) vs. 19.4% (173/893), χ²=15.177,P<0.01),smaller tumor diameter (2.0(1.0) cm vs. 3.0(1.5) cm,Z=10.567,P<0.01),higher well/moderate differentiation ratio (51.4% (56/112) vs. 38.0% (337/893), χ²=7.328, P=0.007),fewer positive lymph nodes (0(1) vs. 1(3), Z=5.824, P<0.01),and higher R0 resection rate (77.7% (87/112) vs. 38.3%(342/893), χ²=64.399, P<0.01),but with a higher incidence of overall postoperative complications (50.0% (56/112) vs. 36.3% (324/892), χ²=7.913,P=0.005),postoperative pancreatic fistula (28.6% (32/112) vs. 13.9% (124/893), χ²=16.318,P<0.01),and postoperative abdominal infection (21.4% (24/112) vs. 8.6% (77/892), χ²=18.001,P<0.01). After propensity score matching, there was no statistical difference in postoperative overall survival time between patients in the distal bile duct cancer group and the pancreatic head cancer group (50.6 months vs. 35.1 months,Z=1.640,P=0.201),and multifactorial analysis showed that tumor site was not an independent risk factor affecting the prognosis of patients in both groups after matching (HR=0.73,95%CI:0.43 to 1.23,P=0.238). Conclusions: Patients with distal bile duct cancer are more likely to benefit from early diagnosis and surgical treatment than patients with pancreatic head cancer, but with a relative higher postoperative complication rates. The different tumor origin site is not an independent risk factor for prognosis of patients with distal bile duct cancer and pancreatic head cancer after propensity score matching.

Abstract
Objective: To study the real-world outcome of China FDA-approved Sofosbuvir (SOF)/Velpatasvir (VEL) in Northwest China. Methods: In this multicenter, prospective, real-world cohort study, we recruited patients from 10 sites from Northwest China, who were chronically infected with HCV GTs 1-6 from 06/2018 to 09/2019. Patients received SOF (400mg)/VEL (100mg) for 12 weeks, and with ribavirin 900-1200 mg for GT3 cirrhosis and for any genotype decompensated cirrhosis. The primary endpoint was sustained virological response at 12-weeks post-treatment (SVR12) and safety. The secondary endpoint was the change of liver function after the achievement of SVR12. Results: Totally, 143 patients were enrolled in the study, four patients were lost to follow-up and one died during the follow-up, 138 patients were included in per-protocol analysis. Of the 138 patients, the mean age 53 years, 53.6% male, 94.2% Han nationality, 53.6% liver cirrhosis, 10.1% HBsAg(+), 6.5% renal dysfunction, 5.1% treatment-experienced, and 16.7% patients received ribavirin treatment. The genotype distribution was as follows: 35.5% GT1, 42.8% GT2, 15.9% GT3, and 5.8% un-typed. The SVR12 rate was 96.5% (138/143, 95%CI: 93.5%-99.6%) for intention-to-treat analysis, and in per-protocol analysis, all 138 patients obtained SVR12 (100%). Compared with baseline, the serum total bilirubin, ALT and AFP levels decreased (all P < 0.05), as well as increased ALB and platelet count (all P < 0.001) at post-treatment 12-weeks. Overall adverse events (AEs) rate is 29.0%, and the most common AEs were anemia (14.5%) and fatigue (8.0%). Severe side effects (edema and fatigue) occurred in 2 patients, one of whom needed a short-term interruption of treatment due to fatigue. Conclusion: In this real-world cohort study, 12-week SOF/VEL regimen with or without ribavirin achieved high SVR12 rates (96.5%-100% overall) with excellent safety profile among patients with HCV GT1/2/3 infection including patients with GT3 and cirrhosis, and led to improvement of liver function.
