Abstract
Excessive discharge of nitrogen-containing chemical products into the natural water environment leads to the serious environmental problem of nitrate-nitrogen pollution, threatening the ecological balance and human health. In this study, we propose an efficient denitrification electrochemical method utilizing iron-doped zeolite imidazolium framework derived defective nitrogen-doped carbon (d-FeNC) catalysts. The d-FeNC catalyst exhibited 97 % nitrate removal efficiency and 94 % total nitrogen (TN) removal, and the reaction rate constant was increased from 0.73 h-1 of the Fe-undoped electrocatalyst (d-NC) to 1.11 h-1. The successful synthesis of d-FeNC with carbon defect sites and encapsulated Fe was confirmed by in-depth characterization. In situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis in conjunction with cyclic voltammetry (CV) tests confirmed the carbon substrates with defect enhanced the trapping of atomic hydrogen (H*) on the catalyst surface. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations clarified the doping of Fe facilitated the adsorption of nitrate, resulting in contact of H* with nitrate on the catalyst surface. In the synergy of the defective state organic framework and metal Fe, H* and nitrate realized a collision process. The electrochemical denitrification system achieved an excellent nitrate removal capacity of 7587 mgN·g-1cat in high-concentration nitrate solution and showed excellent stability under various conditions. Overall, this study underscores the potential of defective iron-doped carbon catalysts for efficient electrocatalytic denitrification, providing a promising approach for sustainable wastewater treatment.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the specific role of arrestin beta-2 (ARRB2) in the progression of periodontitis and the underlying mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS Single-cell RNA sequencing data were used to analyse gene expression in periodontal tissues from healthy controls and patients with periodontitis. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining were performed to detect the expression of ARRB2. Furthermore, a ligature-induced periodontitis model was created. Using radiographic and histological methods, RNA sequencing and luciferase assay, the role of ARRB2 in periodontitis and the underlying mechanisms were explored. Finally, the therapeutic effect of melatonin, an inhibitor of activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6), on periodontitis in mice was assessed in both in vivo and in vitro experiments. RESULTS ARRB2 expression was up-regulated in inflammatory periodontal tissue. In the ligature-induced mouse model, Arrb2 knockout exacerbated alveolar bone loss (ABL) and extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. ARRB2 exerted a negative regulatory effect on ATF6, an essential targeted gene. Melatonin ameliorated ABL and an imbalance in ECM remodelling in Arrb2-deficient periodontitis mice. CONCLUSIONS ARRB2 mediates ECM remodelling via inhibition of the ATF6 signalling pathway, which ultimately exerts a protective effect on periodontal tissues.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and neoplasms have been considered as public health concerns worldwide. This study aimed to estimate the epidemiological patterns of death burden on CVDs and neoplasms and its attributable risk factors in Western Europe from 1990 to 2019 to discuss the potential causes of the disparities. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS We collected data on CVDs and neoplasms deaths in 24 Western European countries from the Global Burden of Disease Study. We analyzed patterns by age, sex, country, and associated risk factors. The results include percentages of total deaths, age-standardized death rates per 100,000 population, and uncertainty intervals (UIs). Time trends were assessed using annual percent change. RESULTS In 2019, CVDs and neoplasms accounted for 33.54% and 30.15% of Western Europe's total deaths, with age-standardized death rates of 128.05 (95% UI: 135.37, 113.02) and 137.51 (95% UI: 142.54, 128.01) per 100,000. Over 1990-2019, CVDs rates decreased by 54.97%, and neoplasms rates decreased by 19.54%. Top CVDs subtypes were ischemic heart disease and stroke; top cancers for neoplasms were lung and colorectal. Highest CVD death burdens were in Finland, Greece, Austria; neoplasm burdens in Monaco, San Marino, Andorra. The major risk factors were metabolic (CVDs) and behavioral (neoplasms). Gender differences revealed higher CVDs death burden in males, while neoplasms burden varied by risk factors and age groups. CONCLUSION In 2019, CVDs and neoplasms posed significant health risks in Western Europe, with variations in death burdens and risk factors across genders, age groups, and countries. Future interventions should target vulnerable groups to lessen the impact of CVDs and neoplasms in the region.

Abstract
The popular leafy vegetable lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is susceptible to cold stress during the growing season, which slows growth rate, causes leaf yellowing and necrosis, and reduced yield and quality. In this study, transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses of two cold-resistant lettuce cultivars (GWAS-W42 and F11) and two cold-sensitive lettuce cultivars (S13K079 and S15K058) were performed to identify the mechanisms involved in the cold response of lettuce. Overall, transcriptome analysis identified 605 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including significant enrichment of genes involved in the flavonoid and flavonol (CHS, CHI, F3H, FLS, CYP75B1, HCT, etc.) biosynthetic pathways related to oxidation-reduction and catalytic activity. Untargeted metabolomic analysis identified fifteen flavonoid metabolites and 28 other metabolites potentially involved in the response to cold stress; genistein, quercitrin, quercetin derivatives, kaempferol derivatives, luteolin derivatives, apigenin and their derivatives accumulate at higher levels in cold-resistant cultivars. Moreover, MYBs, bHLHs, WRKYs and Dofs also play positive role in the low temperature response, which affected the expression of structural genes contributing to the variation of metabolites between the resistant and sensitive. These results provide valuable evidence that the metabolites and genes involved in the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway play important roles in the response of lettuce to cold stress.

Abstract
The novel brominated flame retardant, 1,2-bis(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)ethane (BTBPE), has increasingly been detected in environmental and biota samples. However, limited information is available regarding its toxicity, especially at environmentally relevant concentrations. In the present study, adult male zebrafish were exposed to varying concentrations of BTBPE (0, 0.01, 0.1, 1, and 10 μg/L) for 28 days. The results demonstrated underperformance in mating behavior and reproductive success of male zebrafish when paired with unexposed females. Additionally, a decline in sperm quality was confirmed in BTBPE-exposed male zebrafish, characterized by decreased total motility, decreased progressive motility, and increased morphological malformations. To elucidate the underlying mechanism, an integrated proteomic and phosphoproteomic analysis was performed, revealing a predominant impact on mitochondrial functions at the protein level and a universal response across different cellular compartments at the phosphorylation level. Ultrastructural damage, increased expression of apoptosis-inducing factor, and disordered respiratory chain confirmed the involvement of mitochondrial impairment in zebrafish testes. These findings not only provide valuable insights for future evaluations of the potential risks posed by BTBPE and similar chemicals but also underscore the need for further research into the impact of mitochondrial dysfunction on reproductive health.

Abstract
Seed dormancy and germination play pivotal roles in the agronomic traits of plants, and the degree of dormancy intuitively affects the yield and quality of crops in agricultural production. Seed priming is a pre-sowing seed treatment that enhances and accelerates germination, leading to improved seedling establishment. Seed priming technologies, which are designed to partially activate germination, while preventing full seed germination, have exerted a profound impact on agricultural production. Conventional seed priming relies on external priming agents, which often yield unstable results. What works for one variety might not be effective for another. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the internal factors within the metabolic pathways that influence seed physiology and germination. This review unveils the underlying mechanisms of seed metabolism and germination, the factors affecting seed dormancy and germination, as well as the current seed priming technologies that can result in stable and better germination.

Abstract
Objectives Water-saving and drought-resistance rice (WDR) plays a vital role in the sustainable development of agriculture. Nevertheless, the impacts and processes of water and nitrogen on grain yield in WDR remain unclear. Methods In this study, Hanyou 73 (WDR) and Hyou 518 (rice) were used as materials. Three kinds of nitrogen fertilizer application rate (NFAR) were set in the pot experiment, including no NFAR (nitrogen as urea applied at 0 g/pot), medium NFAR (nitrogen as urea applied at 15.6 g/pot), and high NFAR (nitrogen as urea applied at 31.2 g/pot). Two irrigation regimes, continuous flooding cultivation and water stress, were set under each NFAR. The relationships between root and shoot morphophysiology and grain yield in WDR were explored. Results The results demonstrated the following: 1) under the same irrigation regime, the grain yield of two varieties increased with the increase of NFAR. Under the same NFAR, the reduction of irrigation amount significantly reduced the grain yield in Hyou 518 (7.1%-15.1%) but had no substantial influence on the grain yield in Hanyou 73. 2) Under the same irrigation regime, increasing the NFAR could improve the root morphophysiology (root dry weight, root oxidation activity, root bleeding rate, root total absorbing surface area, root active absorbing surface area, and zeatin + zeatin riboside contents in roots) and aboveground physiological indexes (leaf photosynthetic rate, non-structural carbohydrate accumulation in stems, and nitrate reductase activity in leaves) in two varieties. Under the same NFAR, increasing the irrigation amount could significantly increase the above indexes in Hyou 518 (except root dry weight) but has little effect on Hanyou 73. 3) Analysis of correlations revealed that the grain yield of Hyou 518 and Hanyou 73 was basically positively correlated with aboveground physiology and root morphophysiology, respectively. Conclusion The grain yield could be maintained by water stress under medium NFAR in WDR. The improvement of root morphophysiology is a major factor for high yield under the irrigation regime and NFAR treatments in WDR.

Abstract
AIM To determine clinical and fluorine-18 prostate-specific membrane antigen-1007 (18F-PSMA-1007) integrated positron-emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) features that could be used to interpret indeterminate bone lesions (IBLs) and assess the prognosis of prostate cancer (PCa) in patients with IBLs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Consecutive patients who underwent PSMA PET/CT were analysed retrospectively. IBLs were identified as benign or malignant based on follow-up imaging and clinical management. Lesion- and patient-based assessments were performed to define features predictive of bone lesion results and determine clinical risk. Patients' prognosis was analysed based on clinical characteristics, including prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), respectively. RESULTS A total of 105 patients (mean age ± SD, 72.1 ± 8 years) were evaluated and 158 IBLs were identified. Fifty-three (33.5%), 36 (22.8%), and 69 (43.7%) IBLs were benign, malignant, and equivocal, respectively. Variables including location, maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax), and lymph node metastases (LNM) were related to the benignancy or malignancy of IBLs (p=0.046, p<0.001 and p<0.001, respectively). Regression analysis indicated that LNM, SUVmax, and location of IBLs could be predictors of lesion interpretation (p<0.001, p=0.002 and p=0.035). Patients with benign IBLs experienced the most considerable decreases in PSA and ALP levels. CONCLUSIONS LNM, SUVmax, and location may contribute to IBL interpretation. A rapid decrease in PSA and ALP levels might suggest a better prognosis for patients with benign IBLs.

Abstract
Several Pleurocordyceps species have been reported as hyperparasitic fungi. A new species, Pleurocordyceps fusiformispora, and a known species, Perennicordyceps elaphomyceticola, are described here based on morphology and phylogenetic evidence from six genes (ITS, SSU, LSU, TET1-α, RPB1, and RPB2). Pl. fusiformispora differed from the other Pleurocordyceps species by producing flaky colonies, ovoid or elliptic α-conidia, and fusiform or long fusiform β-conidia. Both full genomes of Pe. elaphomyceticola and Pl. fusiformispora were sequenced, annotated, and compared. The antiSMASH and local BLAST analyses revealed significant differences in the number and types of putative secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters, i.e., NPPS, PKS, and hybrid PKS-NRPS domains, between the two species. In addition, the putative BGCs of six compounds, namely ε-poly lysine, 4-epi-15-epi-brefeldin A, Monorden D/monocillin IV/monocillin VII/pochonin M/monocillin V/monocillin II, Tolypyridone, Piperazine, and Triticone DABFC, were excavated in the present study. This study motivates the use of heterologous expression and gene knockout methods to discover novel biologically active SMs from Polycephalomycetaceae.

Abstract
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis sensu lato is a common pathogenic fungus of ants. A new species, O. fusiformispora, was described based on morphology and phylogenetic evidence from five genes (SSU, LSU, TEF1α, RPB1, and RPB2). The whole genomes of O. fusiformispora, O. contiispora, O. subtiliphialida, O. satoi, O. flabellata, O. acroasca, and O. camponoti-leonardi were sequenced and annotated and compared with whole genome sequences of other species in O. unilateralis sensu lato. The basic genome-wide characteristics of the 12 species showed that the related species had similar GC content and genome size. AntiSMASH and local BLAST analyses revealed that the number and types of putative SM BGCs, NPPS, PKS, and hybrid PKS-NRPS domains for the 12 species differed significantly among different species in the same genus. The putative BGC of five compounds, namely, NG-391, lucilactaene, higginsianin B, pyripyropene A, and pyranonigrin E were excavated. NG-391 and lucilactaene were 7-desmethyl analogs of fusarin C. Furthermore, the 12 genomes had common domains, such as KS-AT-DH-MT-ER-KR-ACP and SAT-KS-AT-PT-ACP-ACP-Te. The ML and BI trees of SAT-KS-AT-PT-ACP-ACP-Te were highly consistent with the multigene phylogenetic tree in the 12 species. This study provided a method to obtain the living culture of O. unilateralis sensu lato species and its asexual formed on the basis of living culture, which was of great value for further study of O. unilateralis sensu lato species in the future, and also laid a foundation for further analysis of secondary metabolites of O. unilateralis sensu lato.

Abstract
Nonlinear interactions of spin-waves and their quanta, magnons, have emerged as prominent candidates for interference-based technology, ranging from quantum transduction to antiferromagnetic spintronics. Yet magnon multiplication in the terahertz (THz) spectral region represents a major challenge. Intense, resonant magnetic fields from THz pulse-pairs with controllable phases and amplitudes enable high order THz magnon multiplication, distinct from non-resonant nonlinearities such as the high harmonic generation by below-band gap electric fields. Here, we demonstrate exceptionally high-order THz nonlinear magnonics. It manifests as 7th-order spin-wave-mixing and 6th harmonic magnon generation in an antiferromagnetic orthoferrite. We use THz two-dimensional coherent spectroscopy to achieve high-sensitivity detection of nonlinear magnon interactions up to six-magnon quanta in strongly-driven many-magnon correlated states. The high-order magnon multiplication, supported by classical and quantum spin simulations, elucidates the significance of four-fold magnetic anisotropy and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya symmetry breaking. Moreover, our results shed light on the potential quantum fluctuation properties inherent in nonlinear magnons.

Abstract
We report the design and synthesis of a series of proline-derived quinoline formamide compounds as human urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitors via a ligand-based pharmacophore approach. Structure-activity relationship studies reveal that the replacement of the carboxyl group on the polar fragment with trifluoromethanesulfonamide and substituent modification at the 6-position of the quinoline ring greatly improve URAT1 inhibitory activity compared with lesinurad. Compounds 21c, 21e, 24b, 24c, and 23a exhibit potent activities against URAT1 with IC50 values ranging from 0.052 to 0.56 μM. Furthermore, compound 23a displays improved selectivity towards organic anion transporter 1 (OAT1), good microsomal stability, low potential for genotoxicity and no inhibition of the hERG K+ channel. Compounds 21c and 23a, which have superior pharmacokinetic properties, also demonstrate significant uric acid-lowering activities in a mouse model of hyperuricemia. Notably, 21c also exhibits moderate anti-inflammatory activity related to the gout inflammatory pathway. Compounds 21c and 23a with superior druggability are potential candidates for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout.

Abstract
Early brain injury (EBI) is the leading cause of poor prognosis for patients suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), particularly learning and memory deficits in the repair phase. A recent report has involved calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) in the pathophysiological process underlying SAH-induced EBI. Alpha-asarone (ASA), a major compound isolated from the Chinese medicinal herb Acorus tatarinowii Schott, was proven to reduce secondary brain injury by decreasing CaMKII over-phosphorylation in rats' model of intracerebral hemorrhage in our previous report. However, the effect of ASA on SAH remains unclear, and the role of CaMKII in both acute and recovery stages of SAH needs further investigation. In this work, we first established a classic SAH rat model by endovascular perforation and intraperitoneally administrated different ASA doses (10, 20, and 40 mg/kg) 2 h after successful modeling. Then, the short- and long-term neurobehavioral performances were blindly evaluated to confirm ASA's efficacy against SAH. Subsequently, we explored ASA's therapeutic mechanism in both acute and recovery stages using histopathological examination, TUNEL staining, flow cytometry, Western-blot, double-immunofluorescence staining, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation. Finally, KN93, a selective CaMKII inhibitor, was applied in oxyhemoglobin-damaged HT22 cells to explore the role of CaMKII in ASA's neuroprotective effect. The results demonstrated that ASA alleviated short- and long-term neurological dysfunction, reduced mortality and seizure rate within 24 h, and prolonged 14-day survival in SAH rats. Histopathological examination showed a reduction of neuronal damage and a restoration of the hippocampal structure after ASA treatment in both acute and recovery phases of SAH. In the acute stage, the Western-blot and flow cytometer analyses showed that ASA restored E/I balance, reduced calcium overload and CaMKII phosphorylation, and inhibited mitochondrion-involved apoptosis, thus preventing neuronal damage and apoptosis underlying EBI post-SAH. In the recovery stage, the TEM observation, double-immunofluorescence staining, and Western-blot analyses indicated that ASA increased the numbers of synapses and enhanced synaptic plasticity in the ipsilateral hippocampi, probably by promoting NR2B/CaMKII interaction and activating subsequent CREB/BDNF/TrkB signaling pathways. Furthermore, KN93 notably reversed ASA's neuroprotective effect on oxyhemoglobin-damaged HT22 cells, confirming CaMKII a potential target for ASA's efficacy against SAH. Our study confirmed for the first time that ASA ameliorated the SAH rats' neurobehavioral deterioration, possibly via modulating CaMKII-involved pathways. These findings provided a promising candidate for the clinical treatment of SAH and shed light on future drug discovery against SAH.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the status of respiratory pathogen detection and the clinical features in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP). Methods: A prospective, multicenter study was conducted to collect clinical data, including medical history, laboratory examinations and multiplex PCR tests of children diagnosed with MPP from 4 hospitals in China between November 15th and December 20th, 2023. The multiplex PCR results and clinical characteristics of MPP children in different regions were analyzed. The children were divided into severe and mild groups according to the severity of the disease. Patients in the severe group were further divided into Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) alone and Multi-pathogen co-detection groups based on whether other pathogens were detected besides MP, to analyze the influence of respiratory pathogen co-detection rate on the severity of the disease. Mann-Whitney rank sum test and Chi-square test were used to compare data between independent groups. Results: A total of 298 children, 136 males and 162 females, were enrolled in this study, including 204 children in the severe group with an onset age of 7.0 (6.0, 8.0) years, and 94 children in the mild group with an onset age of 6.5 (4.0, 7.8) years. The level of C-reactive protein, D-dimer, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) were significantly higher (10.0 (5.0, 18.0) vs. 5.0 (5.0, 7.5) mg/L, 0.6 (0.4, 1.1) vs. 0.5 (0.3, 0.6) mg/L, 337 (286, 431) vs. 314 (271, 393) U/L, Z=2.02, 2.50, 3.05, all P<0.05), and the length of hospitalization was significantly longer in the severe group compared with those in mild group (6.0 (6.0, 7.0) vs. 5.0 (4.0, 6.0) d, Z=4.37, P<0.05). The time from onset to admission in severe MPP children was significantly shorter than that in mild MPP children (6.0 (5.0, 9.5) vs. 9.0 (7.0, 13.0) d, Z=2.23, P=0.026). All patients completed the multiplex PCR test, with 142 cases (47.7%) MPP children detected with 21 pathogens including adenovirus 25 cases (8.4%), human coronavirus 23 cases (7.7%), rhinovirus 21 cases (7.0%), Streptococcus pneumoniae 21 cases (7.0%), influenza A virus 18 cases (6.0%). The pathogens with the highest detection rates in Tianjin, Shanghai, Wenzhou and Chengdu were Staphylococcus aureus at 10.7% (8/75), adenovirus at 13.0% (10/77), adenovirus at 15.3% (9/59), and both rhinovirus and Haemophilus influenzae at 11.5% (10/87) each. The multi-pathogen co-detection rate in severe MPP children was significantly higher than that in mild MPP group (52.9% (108/204) vs. 36.2% (34/94), χ²=10.62,P=0.005). Among severe MPP children, there are 89 cases in the multi-pathogen co-detection group and 73 cases in the simple MPP group. The levels of LDH, D-dimer and neutrophil counts in the multi-pathogen co-detection group were significantly higher than those in the simple MPP group (348 (284, 422) vs. 307 (270, 358) U/L, 0.8 (0.5, 1.5) vs. 0.6 (0.4, 1.0) mg/L, 4.99 (3.66, 6.89)×109 vs. 4.06 (2.91, 5.65)×109/L, Z=5.17, 4.99, 6.11, all P<0.05). Conclusions: The co-detection rate of respiratory pathogens, LDH and D-dimer in children with severe MPP were higher than those with mild MPP. Among severe MPP children the stress response of children in co-detection group was more serious than that of children with simple MPP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Periodontitis is intimately associated with the development of various systemic diseases, among which type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has a bidirectional relationship with the pathogenesis of periodontitis. The objective of the present work was to investigate the role of berberine (BBR) in periodontitis with T2DM and related mechanisms. METHODS The mRNA expression of macrophage polarization-related factors in the microenvironment of periodontal inflammation was detected using real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). The experimental periodontitis model was constructed in wild-type (WT) and T2DM (db/db) mice, which were administered BBR after 7 days of modeling. Alveolar bone loss (ABL) in each group of mice was measured utilizing micro-computed tomography images. RT-qPCR was performed to analyze the levels of macrophage polarization-related factors in mouse gingiva. Lastly, using western blotting and RT-qPCR, the signaling pathway of BBR affecting macrophage polarization in the microenvironment of periodontitis was explored. RESULTS BBR inhibited M1 polarization and stimulated M2 polarization in the periodontitis microenvironment. BBR decreased ABL in the WT and T2DM periodontitis models. And BBR reduced the production of proinflammatory cytokines and increased anti-inflammatory cytokine expression in the gingiva of WT and T2DM model mice. Ultimately, BBR mediates its anti-inflammatory effects on periodontitis through inhibition of the NF-κB pathway. CONCLUSIONS BBR had a therapeutic effect on T2DM-associated periodontitis via inhibiting the NF-κB pathway to affect macrophage polarization, which may have implications for the new pharmacological treatment of T2DM-associated periodontitis.

Abstract
Photopharmacology is an emerging approach for achieving light-controlled drug activity. Herein, we design and synthesize a novel series of photoswitchable PI3K inhibitors by replacing a sulfonamide moiety with an azo group in a 4-methylquinazoline-based scaffold. Through structure-activity relationship studies, compound 6g is identified to be effectively switched between its trans- and cis-configuration under irradiation with proper wavelengths. Molecular docking studies show the cis-isomer of 6g is favorable to bind to the PI3K target, supporting compound 6g in the PSS365 (cis-isomer enriched) was more potent than that in the PSSdark (trans-isomer dominated) in PI3K enzymatic assay, cell antiproliferative assay, Western blotting analysis on PI3K downstream effectors, cell cycle analysis, colony formation assay, and wound-healing assay. Relative to the cis-isomer, the trans-isomer is more metabolically stable and shows good pharmacokinetic properties in mice. Moreover, compound 6g inhibits tumor growth in nude mice and a zebrafish HGC-27 xenograft model.

Abstract
An emerging environmental contaminant, bis(2-ethylhexyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrabromophthalate (TBPH), can bioaccumulate in the liver and affect hepatic lipid metabolism. However, the in-depth mechanism has yet to be comprehensively explored. In this study, we utilized transgenic zebrafish Tg (Apo14: GFP) to image the interference of TBPH on zebrafish liver development and lipid metabolism at the early development stage. Using integrated lipidomic and transcriptomic analyses to profile the lipid remodeling effect, we uncovered the potential effects of TBPH on lipophagy-related signaling pathways in zebrafish larvae. Decreased lipid contents accompanied by enhanced lipophagy were confirmed by the measurements of Oil Red O staining and transmission electron microscopy in liver tissues. Particularly, the regulatory role of the foxo1 factor was validated via its transcriptional inhibitor. Double immunofluorescence staining integrated with biochemical analysis indicated that the enhanced lipophagy and mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation induced by TBPH were reversed by the foxo1 inhibitor. To summarize, our study reveals, for the first time, the essential role of foxo1-mediated lipophagy in TBPH-induced lipid metabolic disorders and hepatoxicity, providing new insights for metabolic disease studies and ecological health risk assessment of TBPH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As the most common subtype of adult muscular dystrophy worldwide, large cohort reports on myotonic dystrophy type I (DM1) in China are still lacking. This study aims to analyze the genetic and clinical characteristics of Chinese Han DM1 patients. METHODS Based on the multicenter collaborating effort of the Pan-Yangtze River Delta Alliance for Neuromuscular Disorders, patients with suspected clinical diagnoses of DM1 were genetically confirmed from January 2020 to April 2023. Peak CTG repeats in the DMPK gene were analyzed using triplet repeat-primed PCR (TP-PCR) and flanking PCR. Time-to-event analysis of onset age in females and males was performed. Additionally, detailed clinical features and longitudinal changes from the disease onset in 64 DM1 patients were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Fatigue Severity Scale were used to quantify the severity of daytime sleepiness and fatigue. RESULTS Among the 211 genetically confirmed DM1 patients, the mean age at diagnosis was 40.9 ± 12.2 (range: 12-74) with a male-to-female ratio of 124:87. The average size of CTG repeats was 511.3 (range: 92-1945). Among the DM1 patients with comprehensive clinical data (n = 64, mean age 41.0 ± 12.0), the age at onset was significantly earlier in males than in females (4.8 years earlier, p = 0.026). Muscle weakness (92.2%), myotonia (85.9%), and fatigue (73.4%) were the most prevalent clinical features. The predominant involved muscles at onset are hands (weakness or myotonia) (52.6%) and legs (walking disability) (42.1%). Of them, 70.3% of patients had daytime sleepiness, 14.1% had cataract surgery, 7.8% used wheelchairs, 4.7% required ventilatory support, and 1.6% required gastric tubes. Regarding the comorbidities, 4.7% of patients had tumors, 17.2% had diabetes, 23.4% had dyspnea, 28.1% had intermittent insomnia, 43.8% experienced dysphagia, and 25% exhibited cognitive impairment. Chinese patients exhibited smaller size of CTG repeats (468 ± 139) than those reported in Italy (613 ± 623), the US (629 ± 386), and Japan (625 [302, 1047]), and milder phenotypes with less multisystem involvement. CONCLUSION The Chinese Han DM1 patients presented milder phenotypes compared to their Caucasian and Japanese counterparts. A male predominance and an early age of onset were identified in male Chinese Han DM1 patients.

Abstract
The fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) signaling pathway plays important roles in cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. In this study, we highlighted the potential of FGFR inhibitors bearing the (S)-3,3-difluoro-1-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene scaffold containing a crucial 3-pyridyl group for the treatment of FGFR mutant cancers. The representative compound (S)-23, which was identified through comprehensive evaluation, exhibited potent antiproliferative activity with GI50 in the range of 6.4-10.4 nM against FGFR1 fusion protein-carrying, FGFR2-amplified, and FGFR2 mutant cancer cell lines and good antiproliferative activity against FGFR3 translocation and mutant FGFR4 cancer cell lines, as well as potency assessment against FGFR1-4 kinases. Moreover, compound (S)-23 exhibited favorable pharmacokinetic properties, low potential for drug-drug interactions, and very potent antitumor activity in MFE-296 xenograft mouse models with a TGI of 99.1% at the dose of 10 mg/kg. These findings demonstrate that compound (S)-23 is a potential therapeutic agent for FGFR mutant tumors.

Abstract
The impact of Omicron infections on the clinical outcome and immune responses of myasthenia gravis (MG) remained largely unknown. From a prospective multicenter MG cohort (n = 189) with 197 myasthenic crisis (MC), we finally included 41 independent MG patients to classify into two groups: the Omicron Group (n = 13) and the Control Group (n = 28). In this matched cohort study, all-cause mortality was 7.69% (1/13) in Omicron Group and 14.29% (4/28) in Control Group. A higher proportion of elevated serum IL-6 was identified in the Omicron Group (88.89% vs 52.38%, P = 0.049). In addition, the proportions of CD3+CD8+T in lymphocytes and Tregs in CD3+CD4+ T cells were significantly elevated in the Omicron Group (both P = 0.0101). After treatment, the Omicron Group exhibited a marked improvement in MG-ADL score (P = 0.026) and MG-QoL-15 (P = 0.0357). MCs with Omicron infections were associated with elevated serum IL-6 and CD3+CD8+T response. These patients tended to present a better therapeutic response after fast-acting therapies and anti-IL-6 treatment.

Abstract
The high-yielding Green Revolution varieties of cereal crops are characterized by a semidwarf architecture and lodging resistance. Plant height is tightly regulated by the availability of phosphate (Pi), yet the underlying mechanism remains obscure. Here, we report that rice (Oryza sativa) R2R3-type Myeloblastosis (MYB) transcription factor MYB110 is a Pi-dependent negative regulator of plant height. MYB110 is a direct target of PHOSPHATE STARVATION RESPONSE 2 (OsPHR2) and regulates OsPHR2-mediated inhibition of rice height. Inactivation of MYB110 increased culm diameter and bending resistance, leading to enhanced lodging resistance despite increased plant height. Strikingly, the grain yield of myb110 mutants was elevated under both high- and low-Pi regimes. Two divergent haplotypes based on single nucleotide polymorphisms in the putative promoter of MYB110 corresponded with its transcript levels and plant height in response to Pi availability. Thus, fine-tuning MYB110 expression may be a potent strategy for further increasing the yield of Green Revolution cereal crop varieties.

Abstract
Bifunctional materials have attracted ongoing interest in the field of detection and removal of contaminants because of their integration of two functions, but they exhibit commonly exceptional performance in only one of these two aspects. The interaction between the two functional units of the bifunctional materials may compromise their sensing and adsorption abilities. Guided by the concept of domain building blocks (DBBs), a hierarchical metal-organic framework (MOF)-on-MOF hybrid was designed by growing gold nanoclusters (AuNCs)-embedded zeolitic imidazolate framework 8 (AuNCs/ZIF-8) on the surface of Zr-MOF (UiO-66-NH2) for the simultaneous detection and removal of Hg2+. In the hybrid, the amino groups (-NH2) and AuNCs─which were the adsorption groups and sensing units, respectively, were isolated from each other. Specifically, the adsorption groups (-NH2) were assembled in the inner UiO-66-NH2 layer, while the sensing units (AuNCs) were confined in the outer ZIF-8 layer. This hierarchical structure not only spatially hindered the electron transfer between these two units but also triggered the aggregation-induced emission of AuNCs because of the confinement of ZIF-8 on the AuNCs, thus changing the fluorescence of AuNCs from quenching to enhancement. The newly prepared UiO-66-NH2@AuNCs/ZIF-8 hybrid, as expected, showed an ultralow detection limit (0.42 ppb) and a high adsorption capacity (129.9 mg·g-1) for Hg2+. Overall, this work provides a feasible approach to improve the integrated performance of MOF-based composites based on DBBs.

Abstract
It is of great significance to develop an effective method for methyl parathion (MP) detection. Herein, a novel nitrogen-doped titanium carbide quantum dots (N-Ti3 C2 QDs) was prepared and used to construct a simple and sensitive fluorescence sensing platform of MP by making use of inner filter effect (IFE). The prepared N-Ti3 C2 QDs can exhibit strong blue fluorescence at 434 nm. Meanwhile, MP could hydrolyze to produce p-nitrophenol (p-NP) under alkaline conditions, which showed a characteristic ultraviolet-visible (UV-visible) absorption peak at 405 nm, resulting in the fluorescence of N-Ti3 C2 QDs is effectively quenched by p-NP. In addition, the investigation of time-resolved fluorescence decays indicated that the corresponding quenching mechanism of p-NP on N-Ti3 C2 QDs is due to the IFE. After optimizing the conditions, the as-developed fluorescence sensing platform displayed wide detection range (0.1-30 μg mL-1 ) and low detection limit (0.036 μg mL-1 ) for MP, and it was also successfully applied for MP analysis in real water samples, thus it is expected that this simple, sensitive and enzyme-free sensing platform shows great applications.

Abstract
Improving the anaerobic digestion (AD) performance in low-temperature environments has become a key factor in the development of waste treatment and resource recovery in cold regions. The utilization of external carriers to form a biofilm is the simplest and most practical way to enhance the psychrophilic AD performance in cold regions. In this study, the effect of carrier addition on the fermentation performance of low-temperature (15 ± 2 °C) food wastewater was investigated by forming biofilms with carbon brushes. The results showed that although the biofilm formation enhanced methane yields (15.24%), it also caused more accumulation of propionic acid (306.99-626.89 mg/L), and the concentration of acetic acid (86.78-254.71 mg/L) was relatively low. The microbial community revealed the highest abundance of the fermentative bacterium Firmicutes and the carbon brush carrier significantly increased its relative abundance (23.74%). Metatranscriptomic sequencing revealed that the abundance level of Clostridium, Bacteroides, Sedimentibacter and Pelotomaculum was the highest, reaching 80% in all groups. In addition, the abundance level of electroactive microorganisms in biofilms was higher, while the fermentation bacteria and methanogens were lower. This showed that biofilm can enrich more electroactive microorganisms, and granular sludge needs to enrich more fermentation bacteria and methanogens to ensure metabolic activity. Further studies have found that carbon metabolism had the highest activity (27.86%-30.39%) and H+-transporting ATPase (atp) was the most dominant functional enzyme (85.50%-86.65%) involved in electron transport in low-temperature fermentation of food wastewater. Interestingly, these expression levels of active granular sludge were higher than the biofilm formed by carbon brushes. Meanwhile, analysis of the methanogenic pathway found that active granular sludge tends to be directly metabolized to realize acetate to acetyl-CoA by acetyl-CoA synthetase (ACSS), while biofilms were not significantly different in the two metabolic pathways of acetate. These results deepen the understanding of treating low-temperature food wastewater.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and integrons in 157 Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains isolated from feces of captive musk deer from 2 farms (Dujiang Yan and Barkam) in Sichuan province. Result showed that 91.72% (144/157) strains were resistant to at least one antimicrobial and 24.20% (38/157) strains were multi-drug resistant (MDR). The antibiotics that most E. coli strains were resistant to was sulfamethoxazole (85.99%), followed by ampicillin (26.11%) and tetracycline (24.84%). We further detected 13 ARGs in the 157 E. coli strains, of which blaTEM had the highest occurrence (91.72%), followed by aac(3')-Iid (60.51%) and blaCTX-M (16.56%). Doxycycline, chloramphenicol, and ceftriaxone resistance were strongly correlated with the presence of tetB, floR and blaCTX-M, respectively. The strongest positive association among AMR phenotypes was ampicillin/cefuroxime sodium (OR, 828.000). The strongest positive association among 16 pairs of ARGs was sul1/floR (OR, 21.667). Nine pairs positive associations were observed between AMR phenotypes and corresponding resistance genes and the strongest association was observed for CHL/floR (OR, 301.167). Investigation of integrons revealed intl1 and intl2 genes were detected in 10.19% (16/157) and 1.27% (2/157) E. coli strains, respectively. Only one type of gene cassettes (drA17-aadA5) was detected in class 1 integron positive strains. Our data implied musk deer is a reservoir of ARGs and positive associations were common observed among E. coli strains carrying AMRs and ARGs.

Abstract
The application of high-quality seeds ensures successful crop establishment, healthy growth, and improved production in both quantity and quality. Recently, biochar-based seed coating has been recognized as a new, effective, and environmentally friendly method to enhance seed quality, seedling uniformity, and nutrient availability. To study the impact of biochar coating on the surface mechanical properties of coated seeds, rice emergence and growth, and related physical and physiological metabolic events, laboratory experiments were performed on two water-saving and drought-resistance rice (WDR) varieties (Huhan1512 and Hanyou73) using biochar formulations with varying contents (20%-60%). The results showed that the appropriate concentration of biochar significantly improved emergence traits and seedling performance of the two rice varieties, compared to the uncoated treatment, and that the optimal percentage of biochar coating was 30% (BC30). On average, across both varieties, BC30 enhanced emergence rate (9.5%), emergence index (42.9%), shoot length (19.5%), root length (23.7%), shoot dry weight (25.1%), and root dry weight (49.8%). The improved germination characteristics and vigorous seedling growth induced by biochar coating were strongly associated with higher water uptake by seeds, increased α-amylase activity and respiration rate, and enhanced accumulation of soluble sugar and soluble protein. Moreover, the evaluation results of mechanical properties related to seed coating quality found that increasing the proportion of biochar in the coating blend decreased the integrity and compressive strength of the coated seeds and reduced the time required for coating disintegration. In conclusion, biochar coating is a cost-effective strategy for enhancing crop seed quality and seedling establishment.

Abstract
The drought caused by global warming seriously affects the crop growth and agricultural production. Plants have evolved distinct strategies to cope with the drought environment. Under drought stress, energy and resources should be diverted from growth toward stress management. However, the molecular mechanism underlying coordination of growth and drought response remains largely elusive. Here, we discovered that most of the gibberellin (GA) metabolic genes were regulated by water scarcity in rice, leading to the lower GA contents and hence inhibited plant growth. Low GA contents resulted in the accumulation of more GA signaling negative regulator SLENDER RICE 1, which inhibited the degradation of abscisic acid (ABA) receptor PYL10 by competitively binding to the co-activator of anaphase-promoting complex TAD1, resulting in the enhanced ABA response and drought tolerance. These results elucidate the synergistic regulation of crop growth inhibition and promotion of drought tolerance and survival, and provide useful genetic resource in breeding improvement of crop drought resistance.

Abstract
This study investigated the effects of varying zero-valent iron (ZVI) (0 to 5,000 mg/L) on fermentative hydrogen (H2) production, metabolic pattern, and taxonomic profile by using kitchen waste as substrate. The study demonstrated that the supplementation of 500 mg ZVI/L resulted in the highest H2 yield (219.68 ± 11.19 mL H2/g-volatile solids (VS)added), which was 19% higher than the control. The metabolic pattern analysis showed that acetic and butyric acid production primarily drove the H2 production. The taxonomic analysis further revealed that Firmicutes (relative abundance (RA): 80-96%) and Clostridium sensu stricto 1 (RA: 68-88%) were the dominant phyla and genera, respectively, during the exponential gas production phase, supporting the observation of accumulation of acetic and butyric acids. These findings suggest that supplementation of ZVI can enhance H2 production from organic waste and significantly influence the metabolic pattern and taxonomic profile, including the metalloenzymes.

Abstract
The CuO/reduced graphene oxide foam (CuO/RGF) with excellent recyclability was prepared via hydrothermal method followed by freeze drying treatment for bisphenol A (BPA) removal via activating peroxydisulfate (PDS). SEM, XRD, XPS, FT-IR, BET, and TG techniques were used to investigate the structure and property of CuO/RGF. The effect of degradation conditions (pH, PDS amount, Cl-, HCO3-, HA and FA) on BPA removal by CuO/RGF were investigated. The result presented that CuO nanosheet was inserted into the RGF carrier with three-dimensional structure. The degradation rate constant of BPA over CuO/RGF (0.00917 min-1) was 1.24 and 6.46 times higher than those of BPA over CuO (0.00714 min-1) and RGF (0.00142 min-1). More importantly, the pore structure of RGF can successfully limit the release of Cu (II) compared to pure CuO. According to quenching test as well as electron spin resonance (EPR) spectra, BPA degradation was triggered by 1O2, •OH and SO4•-, which was the combination of nonradical (1O2) and radical activation of PDS (•OH and SO4•-). The possible degradation route of BPA was proposed based on intermediates obtained by combining solid phase extraction pretreatment technique with high performance liquid-mass spectrometry. After assessing the viability of MCF-7 cells, we can see that the estrogenic activities of treated solution reduced without producing stronger endocrine disruptors.

Abstract
Thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis (TMG) had more severe symptoms and worse prognoses in comparison to non-thymoma-associated MG. Thymoma recurrence was frequently associated with transient worsening of MG and even acute respiratory failure, namely myasthenic crisis (MC). However, little is known about the clinical features and outcomes of MC in thymoma-associated MG patients. We performed a retrospective cohort study in MG patients recruited from 9 independent tertiary neuromuscular centers in China from Jan 2015, through Oct 2022. Overall, 156 MC from 149 MG patients with positive anti-acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies were finally analyzed. Next, these patients were divided into two subgroups: the TMG group (n = 60 MCs, 58 patients) and the non-thymoma-associated MG group (n = 96 MCs, 91 patients). Compared with non-thymoma-associated MG, TMG patients had a significantly shorter disease duration from symptom onset to the crisis (17.95±40.9 vs 51.31±60.61 months, P<0.0001), a larger proportion of MGFA IVa as the initial onset clinical classification (6.67% vs 0, P = 0.0205), and a longer hospital stay (39.24±22.09 [6-111] vs. 33.2 ± 23.42 days [7-120]; P = 0.0317) during the crisis. Within the TMG group, the hospital stay was significantly longer in patients with unresected thymoma compared to that in postoperative myasthenic crisis (POMC) (47.68±24.9 [6-111] vs. 34.21±18.87 days [12-82]; P = 0.0257). Early identification of the MG categories may provide some hints in tailoring therapeutic strategies to improve the prognosis.

Abstract
AIMS Perineural invasion (PNI) is a special type of metastasis of several cancers and has been reported as being a factor for poor prognosis in colorectal carcinoma. However, investigations of PNI in only rectal cancer and a comprehensive analysis combining meta-analyses with real-world case studies remain lacking. MATERIALS AND METHODS First, articles from 2000 to 2020 concerning the relationship between PNI and rectal cancer prognoses and clinical features were meta-analysed. Subsequently, we carried out a retrospective analysis of 312 rectal cancer cases that underwent radical surgery in the real world. The incidence of PNI and the relationship between PNI and prognosis, as well as clinicopathological factors, were investigated. RESULTS The incidence of PNI was 23.09% and 33.01% in the meta-analysis and clinical cases, respectively. PNI occurred as early as stage I (2.94%). Moreover, neoadjuvant therapy significantly reduced the PNI-positive rate (20.34% versus 26.54%). Both meta-analysis and real-world clinical case studies suggested that PNI-positive patients had poorer prognoses than PNI-negative patients. We established an effective risk model consisting of T stage, differentiation and lymphovascular invasion to predict PNI in rectal cancer. CONCLUSION PNI is a poor prognostic factor for rectal cancer and could occur even in stage I. Additionally, neoadjuvant therapy could sufficiently reduce the PNI-positive rate. T stage, lymphovascular invasion and differentiation grade were independent risk factors for PNI and the risk model that included these factors could predict the probability of PNI.

Abstract
At present, clinical studies and case reports of systemic thrombolytic therapy for patients with acute pulmonary embolism in Tibet Plateau are very rare. There is little understanding of the risk factors, clinical characteristics, and thrombolytic therapy for patients with acute pulmonary embolism at intermediate-high risk in Tibet Plateau. In this paper, we reported the data of 4 patients with acute intermediate-high risk pulmonary embolism treated with thrombolytic therapy in Lhasa People's Hospital. The demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, treatment, and outcomes were analyzed. We summarized the clinical features and raised scientific issues. We aimed to provide basic data to improve the standardized diagnosis and treatment of acute pulmonary embolism in plateau, and to point out the direction of future clinical research in this field.

Abstract
Investigate the biofilm-forming ability and drug resistance of Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (HvKP) to provide scientific basis for the treatment of HvKP-infection. A total of 96 Klebsiella pneumoniae strains isolated from clinical infection specimens in Changsha Central Hospital from January to December in 2021 were retrospectively collected, and the clinical data of patients were collected. The string test preliminarily distinguished between HvKP and classic Klebsiella pneumoniae (CKP). The biofilm-forming ability of clinical strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP) was determined by microplate method. The Vitek 2 Compact automatic microbial identification/drug sensitivity analysis system was used for bacterial identification and drug sensitivity test. The clinical data of patients, biofilm forming ability and drug resistance in the HvKP group and those in the CKP group were compared and analyzed. The results showed that a total of 20 strains of HvKP were isolated from 96 non-repetitive KP, and the detection rate was 20.8%. HvKP mainly come from respiratory specimens, up to 75.0%.The prevalence of hepatobiliary diseases and the infection rate of multiple sites in patients with HvKP infection were higher than those in patients with CKP infection, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=5.184,7.488;P=0.023,0.006).There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender, age, ICU admission, hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, lung disease, urinary system disease, central nervous system disease and laboratory test indexes (all P>0.05).17 (85.0%) strains of HvKP can form biofilm, including 2 strains with weak biofilm-forming ability (10.0%), 10 strains with moderate biofilm-forming ability (50.0%) and 5 strains with strong biofilm-forming ability (25.0%). Among the 76 CKP, 71 (93.4%) could form biofilm, including 13 (17.1%) with weak biofilm-forming ability, 30(39.5%) with moderate biofilm-forming ability and 28 (36.8%) with strong biofilm-forming ability. There was no significant difference in biofilm-forming ability between HvKP and CKP (χ2=1.470,P=0.225).The overall resistance rate of HvKP was not high, but a multi-resistant HvKP resistant to carbapenems was found. The detection rate of multi-resistant HvKP (5.0%) was lower than that of multi-resistant CKP (28.9%), and the difference was statistically significant (χ2=4.984, P=0.026).The resistance rate of HvKP to piperacillin/tazobactam, aztreonam, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ceftazidime, cefepime, tobramycin, minocycline, doxycycline, and compound sulfamethoxazole was lower than that of CKP, and the difference was statistically significant (all P<0.05). In conclusion, most of hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae can form biofilm in this study, but the difference of biofilm-forming ability is not obvious compared with classic Klebsiella pneumoniae. HvKP maintains high sensitivity to commonly used antibacterial drugs, but the drug resistance monitoring of the bacteria cannot be ignored.

Abstract
A low-cost functionalization method was used to treat diatomite, and an efficient adsorbent for ammonia nitrogen was prepared by optimizing the functionalization conditions. The functionalized diatomite (DTCA-Na) was characterized by SEM, EDS, BET, XRD, FT-IR, and TG. The results demonstrate that DTCA-Na has excellent adsorption performance after being modified with H2SO4 (60.00 wt.%), NaCl (5.00 wt.%), and calcination at 400 °C for 2 h. While studying the effect of adsorption factors on the removal of ammonia nitrogen, the kinetic and thermodynamic behaviors in the adsorption process were discussed. The removal efficiency of the simulated wastewater with the initial ammonia nitrogen concentration of 10.00 mg L-1 by the DTCA-Na was more than 80% when the contact time was 60 min, pH was 6-10, the dosage of adsorbent was 1.00 g, and the temperature was 25 °C. The adsorption process of ammonia nitrogen was conformed to the pseudo-first-order and Langmuir isothermal model. The removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen was still above 80% after 5 times adsorption-desorption experiments. The DTCA-Na has a brighter prospect of application in the field of ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment due to its excellent adsorption performance and low-cost advantage.

Abstract
Diuron (DU) abuse in weed removal and shipping pollution prevention always leads to pesticide residues and poses a risk to human health. In the current research, an innovative electrochemical sensor for DU detection was created using a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) that had been modified with chitosan-encapsulated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-CS) combined with nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs). The NGQDs were prepared by high-temperature pyrolysis, and the MWCNTs-CS@NGQDs composite was further prepared by ultrasonic assembly. TEM, UV-Vis, and zeta potential tests were performed to investigate the morphology and properties of MWCNTs-CS@NGQDs. CV and EIS measurements revealed that the assembly of MWCNTs and CS improved the electron transfer ability and effective active area of MWCNTs. Moreover, the introduction of NGQDs further enhanced the detection sensitivity of the designed sensor. The MWCNTs-CS@NGQDs/GCE electrochemical sensor exhibited a wide linear range (0.08~12 μg mL-1), a low limit of detection (0.04 μg mL-1), and high sensitivity (31.62 μA (μg mL-1)-1 cm-2) for DU detection. Furthermore, the sensor demonstrated good anti-interference performance, reproducibility, and stability. This approach has been effectively employed to determine DU in actual samples, with recovery ranges of 99.4~104% in river water and 90.0~94.6% in soil. The developed electrochemical sensor is a useful tool to detect DU, which is expected to provide a convenient and easy analytical technique for the determination of various bioactive species.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet function testing has been proposed to better adjust individualized antiplatelet treatment for patients undergoing endovascular treatment for intracranial aneurysms. Its clinical significance needs to be comprehensively evaluated. PURPOSE Our aim was to evaluate the impact of platelet function testing-guided versus standard antiplatelet treatment in patients receiving endovascular treatment for intracranial aneurysms. DATA SOURCES PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library of clinical trials were searched from inception until March 2023. STUDY SELECTION Eleven studies comprising 6199 patients were included. DATA ANALYSIS ORs with 95% CIs were calculated using random effects models. DATA SYNTHESIS The platelet function testing-guided group was associated with a decreased rate of symptomatic thromboembolic events (OR = 0.57; 95% CI, 0.42-0.76; I2 = 26%). No significant difference was found in asymptomatic thromboembolic events (OR = 1.07; 95% CI, 0.39-2.94; I2 = 48%), hemorrhagic events (OR = 0.71; 95% CI, 0.42-1.19; I2 = 34%), intracranial hemorrhagic events (OR = 0.61; 95% CI, 0.03-10.79; I2 = 62%), morbidity (OR = 0.53; 95% CI, 0.05-5.72; I2 = 86%), and mortality (OR = 1.96; 95% CI, 0.64-5.97; I2 = 0%) between the 2 groups. Subgroup analysis suggested that platelet function testing-guided therapy may contribute to fewer symptomatic thromboembolic events in patients who received stent-assisted coiling (OR = 0.43; 95% CI, 0.18-1.02; I2 = 43%) or a combination of stent-assisted and flow-diverter stent placement (OR = 0.61; 95% CI, 0.36-1.02; I2 = 0%) or who changed from clopidogrel to other thienopyridines (OR = 0.64; 95% CI, 0.40-1.02; I2 = 18%), though the difference did not reach statistical significance. LIMITATIONS Heterogeneous endovascular treatment methods and adjusted antiplatelet regimens were limitations. CONCLUSIONS Platelet function testing-guided antiplatelet strategy significantly reduced the incidence of symptomatic thromboembolic events without any increase in the hemorrhagic events for patients undergoing endovascular treatment for intracranial aneurysms.

Abstract
Mesocotyl elongation of rice seedlings is a key trait for deep sowing tolerance and well seedling establishment in dry direct sowing rice (DDSR) production. Subsets of the Rice Diversity Panel 1 (RDP1, 294 accessions) and Hanyou 73 (HY73) recombinant inbred line (RIL) population (312 lines) were screened for mesocotyl length (ML) via dark germination. Six RDP1 accessions (Phudugey, Kasalath, CA902B21, Surjamkuhi, Djimoron, and Goria) had an ML longer than 10 cm, with the other 19 accessions being over 4 cm. A GWAS in RDP1 detected 118 associated SNPs on all 12 chromosomes using a threshold of FDR-adjusted p < 0.05, including 11 SNPs on chromosomes 1, 4, 5, 7, 10, and 12 declared by -log10(P) > 5.868 as the Bonferroni-corrected threshold. Using phenotypic data of three successive trials and a high-density bin map from resequencing genotypic data, four to six QTLs were detected on chromosomes 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10, including three loci repeatedly mapped for ML from two or three replicated trials. Candidate genes were predicted from the chromosomal regions covered by the associated LD blocks and the confidence intervals (CIs) of QTLs and partially validated by the dynamic RNA-seq data in the mesocotyl along different periods of light exposure. Potential strategies of donor parent selection for seedling establishment in DDSR breeding were discussed.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression pattern of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) in mice peritoneal macrophages (PMs) after major trauma and analyze the effects of enhanced AhR expression on the inflammatory cytokine level and bactericidal ability after trauma. Methods: The experimental study method was used. Forty 6-8-week-old male C57BL/6J mice (the same mouse age, sex, and strain below) were divided into control group, post trauma hour (PTH) 2 group, PTH 6 group, and PTH 12 group according to the random number table (the same grouping method below), with 10 mice in each group. Mice in the latter 3 groups were constructed as severe trauma model with fracture+blood loss, while mice in control group were left untreated. The primary PMs (the same cells below) were extracted from the mice in control group, PTH 2 group, PTH 6 group, and PTH 12 group when uninjured or at PTH 2, 6, and 12, respectively. Then the protein and mRNA expressions of AhR were detected by Western blotting and real-time fluorescence quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, respectively, and the gene expressions of AhR signaling pathway related molecules were analyzed by transcriptome sequencing. Twenty mice were divided into control group and PTH 6 group, with 10 mice in each group, and the PMs were extracted. The level of ubiquitin of AhR was detected by immunoprecipitation. Twelve mice were divided into dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) alone group, PTH 6+DMSO group, MG-132 alone group, and PTH 6+MG-132 group, with 3 mice in each group. After the corresponding treatment, PMs were extracted, and the protein expression of AhR was detected by Western blotting. Twenty mice were constructed as PTH 6 model. Then, the PMs were extracted and divided into empty negative control adenovirus (Ad-NC) group and AhR overexpression adenovirus (Ad-AhR) group. The protein expression of AhR was detected by Western blotting at 36 h after some PMs were transfected with the corresponding adenovirus. The rest cells in Ad-NC group were divided into Ad-NC alone group and Ad-NC+endotoxin/lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group, and the rest cells in Ad-AhR group were divided into Ad-AhR alone group and Ad-AhR+LPS group. The expressions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in the cell supernatant were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay at 12 h after the corresponding treatment (n=6). Twenty mice were obtained to extract PMs. The cells were divided into control+Ad-NC group, PTH 6+Ad-NC group, control+Ad-AhR group, and PTH 6+Ad-AhR group, and the intracellular bacterial load was detected by plate spread method after the corresponding treatment (n=6). Data were statistically analyzed with one-way analysis of variance, least significant difference test, analysis of variance for factorial design, and independent sample t test. Results: Compared with 1.16±0.28 of control group, the protein expressions of AhR in PMs in PTH 2 group (0.59±0.14), PTH 6 group (0.72±0.16), and PTH 12 group (0.71±0.17) were all significantly decreased (P<0.05). The overall comparison of the difference of AhR mRNA expression in PMs among control group, PTH 2 group, PTH 6 group, and PTH 12 group showed no statistical significance (P>0.05). The AhR signaling pathway related molecules included AhR, AhR inhibitor, cytochrome P450 family member 1b1, cytochrome P450 family member 11a1, heat shock protein 90, aryl hydrocarbon receptor-interaction protein, and heat shock protein 70 interaction protein. The heat shock protein 90 expression of PMs in PTH 2 group was higher than that in control group, while the expressions of other molecules did not change significantly after trauma. Compared with that in control group, the level of ubiquitin of AhR in PMs in PTH 6 group was increased. Compared with that in DMSO alone group, the protein expression of AhR in PMs in PTH 6+DMSO group was decreased, while that in PMs in MG-132 alone group had no significant change. Compared with that in PTH 6+DMSO group, the protein expression of AhR in PMs in PTH 6+MG-132 group was up-regulated. At transfection hour 36, compared with that in Ad-NC group, the protein expression of AhR in PMs in Ad-AhR group was increased. At treatment hour 12, compared with those in Ad-NC+LPS group, the expressions of IL-6 and TNF-α in PM supernatant of Ad-AhR+LPS group were significantly decreased (with t values of 4.80 and 3.82, respectively, P<0.05). The number of intracellular bacteria of 1×106 PMs in control+Ad-NC group, PTH 6+Ad-NC group, control+Ad-AhR group, and PTH 6+Ad-AhR group was (3.0±1.8), (41.8±10.2), (1.8±1.2), and (24.2±6.3) colony forming unit, respectively. Compared with that in PTH 6+Ad-NC group, the number of intracellular bacteria of PMs in PTH 6+Ad-AhR group was significantly decreased (t=3.61, P<0.05). Conclusions: Ubiquitin degradation of AhR in PMs of mice after major trauma results in decreased protein expression of AhR. Increasing the expression of AhR in post-traumatic macrophages can reduce the expressions of LPS-induced inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α, and improve the bactericidal ability of macrophages after trauma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Deep rooting is an important factor affecting rice drought resistance. However, few genes have been identified to control this trait in rice. Previously, we identified several candidate genes by QTL mapping of the ratio of deep rooting and gene expression analysis in rice. RESULTS In the present work, we cloned one of these candidate genes, OsSAUR11, which encodes a small auxin-up RNA (SAUR) protein. Overexpression of OsSAUR11 significantly enhanced the ratio of deep rooting of transgenic rice, but knockout of this gene did not significantly affect deep rooting. The expression of OsSAUR11 in rice root was induced by auxin and drought, and OsSAUR11-GFP was localized both in the plasma membrane and cell nucleus. Through an electrophoretic mobility shift assay and gene expression analysis in transgenic rice, we found that the transcription factor OsbZIP62 can bind to the promoter of OsSAUR11 and promote its expression. A luciferase complementary test showed that OsSAUR11 interacts with the protein phosphatase OsPP36. Additionally, expression of several auxin synthesis and transport genes (e.g., OsYUC5 and OsPIN2) were down-regulated in OsSAUR11-overexpressing rice plants. CONCLUSIONS This study revealed a novel gene OsSAUR11 positively regulates deep rooting in rice, which provides an empirical basis for future improvement of rice root architecture and drought resistance.

Abstract
An animal model harboring pathogenic mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations is important to understand the biological links between mtDNA variation and mitochondrial diseases. DdCBE, a DddA-derived cytosine base editor, has been utilized in zebrafish, mice, and rats for tC sequence-context targeting and human mitochondrial disease modeling. However, human pathogenic mtDNA mutations other than the tC context cannot be manipulated. Here, we screened the combination of different DdCBE pairs at pathogenic mtDNA mutation sites with nC (n for a, g, or c) context and identified that the left-G1333C (L1333C) + right G1333N (R1333N) pair could mediate C⋅G-to-T⋅A conversion effectively at aC sites in rat C6 cells. The editing efficiency at disease-associated mtDNA mutation sites within aC context was further confirmed to be up to 67.89% in vivo. Also, the installed disease-associated mtDNA mutations were germline transmittable. Moreover, the edited rats showed impaired cardiac function and mitochondrial function, resembling human mitochondrial disease symptoms. In summary, for the first time, we expanded the DdCBE targeting scope to an aC motif and installed the pathogenic mutation in rats to model human mitochondrial diseases.

Abstract
The lumen-occlusion type of tracheobronchial tuberculosis is the most severe type of tracheobronchial stenosis of tuberculosis, often leading to atelectasis or even lung damage in patients. Some patients require surgical resection of the diseased airways and lungs, which can seriously affect their quality of life and even be life-threatening. In order to improve the treatment ability of bronchoscopy physicians for lumen occlusion type of tracheobronchial tuberculosis, this article retrospectively analyzed 30 cases of tracheobronchial tuberculosis with lumen occlusion in Hunan Chest Hospital, and summarized the experience of achieving better results by high-frequency electrotome combined with balloon dilatation and cryotherapy.

Abstract
RATIONALE Approximately 0.001% of patients with cancer have paraneoplastic nerve system syndrome, which can affect the central nervous system, neuromuscular junction, or peripheral nervous system. Although myasthenia gravis (MG) may exist as a thymic paraneoplastic syndrome (PNPS), its association with primary lung cancer remains unknown. PATIENT CONCERNS A 55-year-old female presented with slurred speech, weakness in chewing, sporadic difficulty in swallowing, and weakness in both lower limbs for half a year. DIAGNOSES Based on cerebrospinal fluid and electromyography findings, we present the case of a female patient diagnosed with overlapping multicranial nerve tumor infiltration and MG-like neurological PNPS secondary to lung adenocarcinoma. INTERVENTIONS The patient received intrathecal injections of pemetrexed and neurotrophic (vitamin B) therapy before ceasing chemoradiotherapy and chose cabozantinib on her own. OUTCOMES Weakness of the proximal limbs, choking cough, and chewing problems did not improve significantly. LESSONS Although it is unclear why MG coexists with lung cancer, it is probable that MG is a paraneoplastic condition. Cerebrospinal fluid testing should be carried out along with electrophysiological, serological, and pharmacological procedures pertinent to the diagnosis of MG to thoroughly examine if people simultaneously experience MG-like PNPS and tumor growth. Starting immunotherapy and anticancer medication at the same time that tumor development and MG-like syndrome are discovered is crucial.

Abstract
To reduce or eliminate the inhibition effect of natural organic matters (NOMs) in water on TiO2 photocatalysis for removal of emerging contaminants, four activated carbon/titanium dioxide (AC/TiO2) composites with different pore structure were prepared by hydrothermal method. The results showed that anatase TiO2 particles were uniformly distributed in the pores or onto the surface of activated carbons. The total removal rate of 6 mg L-1 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) on the four AC/TiO2 composites reached above 90%, 30% higher than that of EE2 on TiO2. The degradation rate constants of EE2 on four kinds of AC/TiO2 were much higher than that on TiO2. Further study indicated that the adsorption removal ratio of EE2 on the composites was slightly reduced mainly because competitive adsorption between hydrophilic NOMs (HA and FA) and EE2 molecules when HA and FA coexisted with EE2 in water. But importantly, the obvious inhibitory effect of FA for TiO2 photocatalysis was eliminated on four composites because the introduction of AC with excellent adsorption capacity can preferentially transfer hydrophobic EE2 molecules onto adsorption sites of TiO2/AC composites.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the efficacy and prognostic factors of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) for treating T lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (T-ALL/LBL) . Methods: This study retrospectively evaluated 119 adolescent and adult patients with T-ALL/LBL from January 2006 to January 2020 at Peking University Third Hospital and Institute of Hematology and Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Patients were divided into chemotherapy-only, chemotherapy followed by allo-HSCT, and chemotherapy followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) groups according to the consolidation regimen, and the 5-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates of each group were compared. Results: Among 113 patients with effective follow-up, 96 (84.9%) patients achieved overall response (ORR), with 79 (69.9%) having complete response (CR) and 17 (15.0%) having partial response (PR), until July 2022. The analysis of the 96 ORR population revealed that patients without transplantation demonstrated poorer outcomes compared with the allo-HSCT group (5-year OS: 11.4% vs 55.6%, P=0.001; 5-year PFS: 8.9% vs 54.2%, P<0.001). No difference was found in 5-year OS and 5-year PFS between the allo-HSCT and auto-HSCT groups (P=0.271, P=0.197). The same results were achieved in the CR population. Allo-HSCT got better 5-year OS (37.5% vs 0) for the 17 PR cases (P=0.064). Different donor sources did not affect 5-year OS, with sibling of 61.1% vs hap-haploidentical of 63.6% vs unrelated donor of 50.0% (P>0.05). No significant difference was found in the treatment response in the early T-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ETP) and non-ETP populations. The ETP group demonstrated lower 5-year OS compared with the non-ETP group in the chemotherapy alone group (0 vs 12.6%, P=0.045), whereas no significant difference was found between the ETP and non-ETP groups in the allo-HSCT group (75.0% vs 62.9%, P=0.852). Multivariate analysis revealed that high serum lactate dehydrogenase level, without transplantation, and no CR after chemotherapy induction were independently associated with inferior outcomes (P<0.05) . Conclusion: Allo-HSCT could be an effective consolidation therapy for adult and adolescent patients with T-ALL/LBL. Different donor sources did not affect survival. Allo-HSCT may overcome the adverse influence of ETP-ALL/LBL on OS.

Abstract
The application of nitrogen fertilizer within a normal range has been found to increase the leaf nitrogen content and photosynthetic rate of canola plants (Brassica napus L.). Despite numerous studies on the separate effects of CO2 diffusion limitation and nitrogen allocation trade-off on photosynthetic rate, few have examined both these factors in relation to the photosynthetic rate of canola. In this study, two genotypes of canola with varying leaf nitrogen content were analyzed to determine the impact of nitrogen supply on leaf photosynthesis, mesophyll conductance, and nitrogen partitioning. The results showed that the CO2 assimilation rate (A), mesophyll conductance (g m), and photosynthetic nitrogen content (N psn) increased with an increase in nitrogen supply in both genotypes. The relationship between nitrogen content and A followed a linear-plateau regression, while A had linear relationships with both photosynthetic nitrogen content and g m, indicating that the key to enhancing A is increasing the distribution of leaf nitrogen into the photosynthetic apparatus and g m, rather than just increasing nitrogen content. Under high nitrogen treatment, the genotype (QZ) with high nitrogen content had 50.7% more nitrogen than the other genotype (ZY21), but had similar A, which was primarily due to ZY21's higher photosynthetic nitrogen distribution ratio and stomatal conductance (g sw). On the other hand, QZ showed a higher A than ZY21 under low nitrogen treatment as QZ had higher N psn and g m compared to ZY21. Our results indicate that, in selecting high PNUE rapeseed varieties, it is important to consider the higher photosynthetic nitrogen distribution ratio and CO2 diffusion conductance.

Abstract
The development of bifunctional signal probes based on a single component is highly desirable for sensitive and simple dual-mode detection of Pb2+. Here, novel gold nanocluster-confined covalent organic frameworks (AuNCs@COFs) were fabricated as a bisignal generator to enable electrochemiluminescence (ECL) and colorimetric dual-response sensing. AuNCs with both intrinsic ECL and peroxidase-like activity were confined into the ultrasmall pores of the COFs via an in situ growth method. On the one hand, the space-confinement effect of the COFs closed the ligand motion-induced nonradiative transition channels of the AuNCs. As a result, the AuNCs@COFs exhibited a 3.3-fold enhancement in anodic ECL efficiency compared to the solid-state aggregated AuNCs using triethylamine as the coreactant. On the other hand, due to the outstanding spatial dispersibility of the AuNCs in the structurally ordered COFs, a high density of active catalytic sites and accelerated electron transfer were obtained, leading to the promotion of the enzyme-like catalytic capacity of the composite. To validate its practical applicability, a Pb2+-triggered dual-response sensing system was proposed based on the aptamer-regulated ECL and peroxidase-like activity of the AuNCs@COFs. Sensitive determinations down to 7.9 pM for the ECL mode and 0.56 nM for the colorimetric mode were obtained. This work provides an approach for designing single element-based bifunctional signal probes for dual-mode detection of Pb2+.

Abstract
Objective: To develop asolvent extraction-direct mercury analyzer method for determination of methylmercury in urine. Methods: After the urinehydrolyzesd by hydrobromic acid, methylmercury was extracted by tolueneand reverse-extracted from L-cysteine solution, it was then detectedbydirect mercuryanalyzer. Results: The linear range was 0.2-50.0 μg/L, and the related coefficient was 0.9999. The relative standard deviations (RSD) within the group were 5.04%-6.64%, and the RSD between the group were 5.65%-8.11 %. The average recovery efficiencies were 85.4%-95.5%. The detection limitation was 0.0482 μg/L and the quantification concentrations was 0.1607 μg/L. Conclusion: The method, which has low detection limit, high sensitivity, easy to operate, is stability for the determination of methylmercury in urine.

Abstract
Objective This research aim was to evaluates the role of the pre-ablation neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) as predictors of distant metastases in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Methods A retrospective analysis was given to 140 patients with DTC who received 131I remnant ablation after surgery. The patients were divided into two groups based on the existence of distant metastasis. Results The two groups showed no significant difference in age, gender, WBCs, neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils and whether the tumor was multifocal. In the univariate analysis, significant differences were found in tumor size (p=0.021), lymphocyte (p=0.012), NLR (p=0.027), and LMR (p=0.007). According to the ROC curves, NLR had an AUC of 0.612 ± 0.097 with a cut-off value of 1.845, sensitivity of 60.0%, and specificity of 66.2% (p=0.027). LMR had an AUC of 0.638 ± 0.095 with a cut-off value of 4.630, sensitivity of 84.6%, and specificity of 35.4% (p=0.007). In the multivariate analysis, larger tumor size (OR=5.246, 95% CI 1.269-10.907, p=0.009) and higher NLR (OR=2.087, 95% CI 0.977-4.459, p=0.034) were statistically significant for distant metastases. Conclusion This research reveals that pre-ablation NLR and tumor size are significantly statistically correlated with distant metastases in patients with DTC.

Abstract
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the world's most common chronic liver diseases. However, its pathogenesis remains unclear. With the deepening of research, NAFLD is considered a metabolic syndrome associated with the environment, heredity, and metabolic disorders. Recently, the close relationship between the intestinal microbiome and NAFLD has been discovered, and the theory of the "gut-liver axis" has been proposed. In short, the gut bacteria directly reach the liver via the portal vein through the damaged intestinal wall or indirectly participate in the development of NAFLD through signaling pathways mediated by their components and metabolites. This review focuses on the roles of microbiota-derived lipopolysaccharide, DNA, peptidoglycan, bile acids, short-chain fatty acids, endogenous ethanol, choline and its metabolites, indole and its derivatives, and bilirubin and its metabolites in the progression of NAFLD, which may provide significative insights into the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment for this highly prevalent liver disease.
