Abstract
BACKGROUND Accumulating evidence suggests a pivotal role of vitamin B2 in the pathogenesis and progression of prostate cancer (PCa). Vitamin B2 intake has been postulated to modulate the screening rate for PCa by altering the concentration of prostate-specific antigen(PSA). However, the relationship between vitamin B2 and PSA remains indeterminate. Hence, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the association between vitamin B2 intake and PSA levels, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. METHODS From a pool of 20,371 participants in the NHANES survey conducted between 2003 and 2010, a cohort of 2,323 participants was selected for the present study. The male participants were classified into four distinct groups based on their levels of vitamin B2 intake. We employed a multiple linear regression model and a non-parametric regression method to investigate the relationship between vitamin B2 and PSA levels. RESULTS The study cohort comprised of 2,323 participants with a mean age of 54.95 years (± 11.73). Our findings revealed a statistically significant inverse correlation between vitamin B2 intake (mg) and PSA levels, with a reduction of 0.13 ng/ml PSA concentration for every unit increase in vitamin B2 intake. Furthermore, we employed a fully adjusted model to construct a smooth curve to explore the possible linear relationship between vitamin B2 intake and PSA concentration. CONCLUSIONS Our study in American men has unveiled a notable inverse association between vitamin B2 intake and PSA levels, potentially posing a challenge for the identification of asymptomatic prostate cancer. Specifically, our findings suggest that individuals with higher vitamin B2 intake may be at a greater risk of being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in the future, possibly indicating a detection bias. These results may offer a novel explanation for the observed positive correlation between vitamin B2 intake and prostate cancer.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore whether dietary live microbe intake is associated with various cognitive domains using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2011 to 2014. And the specific relationship between low, medium and high dietary live microbe intake groups and cognitive ability of the elderly. Dietary live microbe intake was calculated from 24-h diet recall interviews. Cognitive function was assessed using the number symbol substitution test (DSST, which measures processing speed), the animal fluency test (AFT, which measures executive function), the Alzheimer's Registry sub-test (CERAD, which measures memory), and the Composite Z-score, which adds the Z-values of individual tests. Multiple linear regression models and restricted cubic bar graphs were used to investigate the relationship between live microbe intake and cognitive performance. A total of 2,450 participants aged 60 or older were included. Live microbe intake was positively correlated with cognitive ability on the whole. Specifically, when the intake of low, medium and high live microbe was > 2640 g, > 39 g and > 0 g respectively, the CERAD, DSST, AFT and compositive-Z score of the subjects increased with the increase of microbial intake (P < 0.05). In American adults age 60 or older, higher intakes of live microbes were associated with better cognitive performance, especially after a certain amount was reached.

Abstract
Asthma is a common chronic respiratory disease, with onset usually occurring during childhood or adolescence. The aim of this study was to estimate the dynamic changes in the burden of asthma disease among adolescents (aged 15-39 years). Between 1990 and 2019, our comprehensive analysis spanned 204 nations and territories to ascertain the global prevalence of asthma. This extensive evaluation meticulously quantified the disease's burden by examining a range of critical metrics-including mortality rates, prevalence figures, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs)-across diverse demographics. Our investigation systematically segmented the data by age, gender, and year, as well as by geographical regions and the Socio-demographic Index (SDI), offering an in-depth perspective on the multifaceted impact of asthma worldwide. From 1990 to 2019, there was a global increase in the incidence cases of asthma among young adults, with the number rising from 6487957.18 (95 %UI: 4578735.08-8736387.55) to 7604488.39 (95 % UI:5428024.98-10177808.25). The prevalence rate of asthma among young adults exhibited a decline from 580.09 per 1,00,000 (95 %UI:481.37-757.28) to 504.28 per 1,00,000 (95 %UI:400.64-633.26). It is also noteworthy that the incidence rates in the remaining SDI regions, although lower, also showed varying degrees of increase in 2015. The age-standardized disease burden rate for asthma among young adults has exhibited a decline over the course of the previous three decades. Nevertheless, regions characterized by lower SDI demonstrate elevated age-standardized mortality rates for asthma, thereby warranting focused attention and prioritized allocation of medical resources.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of modified Bikini approach periacetabular osteotomy in the treatment of developmental hip dysplasia under 50 years of age. Methods: The clinical data of 39 patients with developmental hip dysplasia who underwent periacetabular osteotomy in the Department of Orthopedics, Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital from June 2016 to June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.Among them, 20 patients (21 hips) underwent the improved Bikini approach (study group) and 19 patients (20 hips) underwent the improved Smith-Petersen approach (control group).In the study group, there were 3 males and 17 females, aged(M(IQR))27.5 (14.3) years (range:11 to 44 years).In the control group, there were 2 males and 17 females, aged 27.5 (19.3) years (range:17 to 47 years).Both groups were sutured in the same manner by the same physician.Incision length, operation time, intraoperative blood loss and complications were recorded.X-ray images, anterior central marginal angle (ACE), lateral central marginal Angle (LCE) and acetabulum tilt angle (Tonnis AI) were measured before and after the operation.The coverage rate of acetabulum to femoral head (AHI) was measured and calculated, and the healing time was observed.Harris Hip score, International Hip score (IHOT)-12 and visual analogue scale (VAS) were recorded before and after surgery.Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) score and patient and observer scar assessment scale (POSAS) score were recorded 12 months after surgery.The independent sample t test,Wilcoxon rank sum test, χ2 test or Fisher exact test were used to compare the clinical efficacy between the two groups. Results: All patients successfully completed the operation.There was no significant difference in operation time and intraoperative blood loss between the two groups (all P>0.05).The incision length of the study group was smaller than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (10.5(5.0)cm vs.15.0(3.0),W=309.000,P=0.007).Patients were followed up for (19.1±11.1) months (range:12 to 60 months).Femoral nerve stretching injury occurred in 2 cases and sciatic branch fracture occurred in 1 case in the study group, all of which recovered to normal at 3 months follow-up, while no corresponding injury occurred in the control group.Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve injury occurred in 3 cases in the study group and 2 cases in the control group.Delayed wound healing occurred in 1 case in each of the two groups, and both healed after re-operation debridement and suture.Pubic branch nonunion occurred in 4 patients in the study group and 5 patients in the control group.There were no serious complications such as sciatic nerve and femoral blood vessel injury between the 2 groups, and there was no statistical significance in the incidence of complications between the 2 groups (52.4%(11/21)vs.40.0%(8/20),χ2=0.631,P=0.427).The clinical healing time of the patient was (4.5±1.3) months after surgery (range:3.0 to 8.0 months).There were no significant differences in ACE, LCE, Tonnis AI and AHI between the 2 groups (all P>0.05).At the last follow-up, there were no significant differences in VAS,Harris hip score and IHOT-12 score between the two groups (all P>0.05).The incision scars in the study group were smaller than those in the control group, and the differences in VSS and POSAS were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Compared with the improved Smith-Petersen approach, the improved Bikini approach has the same early clinical efficacy in the treatment of patients with developmental hip dysplasia under the age of 50, and has the advantages of smaller postoperative incision scars, more hidden and beautiful incision, and no serious complications, which is worthy of further study and promotion.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the differences in the prevalence of mild micro-hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) among patients with cirrhosis by using the psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score (PHES) and the Stroop smartphone application (Encephal App) test. Methods: This prospective, multi-center, real-world study was initiated by the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Infectious Diseases and the Portal Hypertension Alliance and registered with International ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05140837). 354 cases of cirrhosis were enrolled in 19 hospitals across the country. PHES (including digital connection tests A and B, digital symbol tests, trajectory drawing tests, and serial management tests) and the Stroop test were conducted in all of them. PHES was differentiated using standard diagnostic criteria established by the two studies in China and South Korea. The Stroop test was evaluated based on the criteria of the research and development team. The impact of different diagnostic standards or methods on the incidence of MHE in patients with cirrhosis was analyzed. Data between groups were differentiated using the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and χ (2) test. A kappa test was used to compare the consistency between groups. Results: After PHES, the prevalence of MHE among 354 cases of cirrhosis was 78.53% and 15.25%, respectively, based on Chinese research standards and Korean research normal value standards. However, the prevalence of MHE was 56.78% based on the Stroop test, and the differences in pairwise comparisons among the three groups were statistically significant (kappa = -0.064, P < 0.001). Stratified analysis revealed that the MHE prevalence in three groups of patients with Child-Pugh classes A, B, and C was 74.14%, 83.33%, and 88.24%, respectively, according to the normal value standards of Chinese researchers, while the MHE prevalence rates in three groups of patients with Child-Pugh classes A, B, and C were 8.29%, 23.53%, and 38.24%, respectively, according to the normal value standards of Korean researchers. Furthermore, the prevalence rates of MHE in the three groups of patients with Child-Pugh grades A, B, and C were 52.68%, 58.82%, and 73.53%, respectively, according to the Stroop test standard. However, among the results of each diagnostic standard, the prevalence of MHE showed an increasing trend with an increasing Child-Pugh grade. Further comparison demonstrated that the scores obtained by the number connection test A and the number symbol test were consistent according to the normal value standards of the two studies in China and South Korea (Z = -0.982, -1.702; P = 0.326, 0.089), while the other three sub-tests had significant differences (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The prevalence rate of MHE in the cirrhotic population is high, but the prevalence of MHE obtained by using different diagnostic criteria or methods varies greatly. Therefore, in line with the current changes in demographics and disease spectrum, it is necessary to enroll a larger sample size of a healthy population as a control. Moreover, the establishment of more reliable diagnostic scoring criteria will serve as a basis for obtaining accurate MHE incidence and formulating diagnosis and treatment strategies in cirrhotic populations.

Abstract
Broadband supercontinuum (SC) light sources generated through nonlinear effects in solid-core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have been widely used in spectroscopy, metrology, and microscopy, leading to great application successes. The short-wavelength extension of such SC sources, a longstanding challenge, has been the subject of intensive study over the past two decades. However, the exact mechanism of blue and ultraviolet light generation, especially for some resonance spectral peaks in the short-wavelength regime, is not yet fully understood. Here, we demonstrate that the effect of inter-modal dispersive-wave radiation, which results from phase matching between pump pulses at the fundamental optical mode and packets of linear waves at some higher-order modes (HOMs) propagating in the PCF core, might be one of the critical mechanisms that can result in some resonance spectral components with wavelengths much shorter than that of the pump light. We observed in an experiment that several spectral peaks resided in the blue and ultraviolet regimes of the SC spectrum, whose central wavelengths can be tuned by varying the PCF-core diameter. These experimental results can be interpreted well using the inter-modal phase-matching theory, providing some useful insights into the SC generation process.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the efficacy and safety of interventional embolization in the treatment of frontal arteriovenous malformation (AVM). METHODS A retrospective study was used to analyze 9 patients with frontal AVM who were treated in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. The patients were treated with interventional embolization under the guidance of DSA. The scope of lesions was observed through DSA, and the injection dose of sclerosing agent was predicted so that the drug could be injected into the lesion cavity. The efficacy, adverse reactions and complications of all patients were observed and analyzed. RESULTS Among the 9 patients, there were 7 males(77.8%) and 2 females(22.2%), aged from 1.5-20 years old. Local swelling or mass was the main reported symptom(66.7%). The blood supply arteries of the cases involved in this study included superficial temporal artery and ophthalmic artery. All patients received interventional embolization treatment under general anesthesia, a total of 19 times (each patient received 1-6 times, average 2.1 times/person), and the average single dose of absolute ethanol was 9.0 mL. A total of 80 coils (4.2 coils/time on average) were used for 5 times (80 coils/19 times) with absolute ethanol embolization. In addition, bleomycin was used 3 times, pingyangmycin was used 2 times, and 3% polydocanol was used 1 time to assist embolization. Among the 9 cases included in this study, 4 cases were cured, 3 cases were basically cured, 2 cases were improved, and the effective rate of treatment was 100%. No local or systemic complications were reported in all patients. CONCLUSIONS In the treatment of frontal arteriovenous malformation, correct diagnosis according to clinical and imaging manifestations, and interventional embolization with anhydrous ethanol according to DSA angiography results can reduce trauma, improve symptoms, control lesions, and obtain relatively satisfactory treatment results. This scheme is safe and effective.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for treating steroid-refractory gastrointestinal acute graft-versus-host disease (GI-aGVHD) . Methods: This analysis included 29 patients with hematology who developed steroid-refractory GI-aGVHD after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in Huaian Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from March 2017 to March 2022. Among them, 19 patients underwent FMT treatment (the FMT group) and 10 patients did not (the control group). The efficacy and safety of FMT were assessed, as well as the changes in intestinal microbiota abundance, lymphocyte subpopulation ratio, peripheral blood inflammatory cytokines, and GVHD biomarkers before and after FMT treatment. Results: ① Complete remission of clinical symptoms after FMT was achieved by 13 (68.4%) patients and 2 (20.0%) controls, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Intestinal microbiota diversity increased and gradually recovered to normal levels after FMT and FMT-related infections did not occur. ②The proportion of CD3(+) and CD8(+) cells in the FMT group after treatment decreased compared with the control group, and the ratio of CD4(+), regulatory T cells (Treg), and CD4(+)/CD8(+) cells increased (all P< 0.05). The interleukin (IL) -6 concentration in the FMT group was lower than that in the control group [4.15 (1.91-5.71) ng/L vs 6.82 (2.40-8.91) ng/L, P=0.040], and the IL-10 concentration in the FMT group was higher than that in the control group [12.11 (5.69-20.36) ng/L vs 7.51 (4.10-9.58) ng/L, P=0.024]. Islet-derived protein 3α (REG3α) was significantly increased in patients with GI-aGVHD, and the REG3α level in the FMT group was lower than that in the control group after treatment [30.70 (10.50-105.00) μg/L vs 74.35 (33.50-139.50) μg/L, P=0.021]. Conclusion: FMT is a safe and effective method for the treatment of steroid-refractory GI-aGVHD by restoring intestinal microbiota diversity, regulating inflammatory cytokines, and upregulating Treg cells.

Abstract
Objective: To detect the cell-free DNA of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Cf-TB) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with tuberculous meningitis (TBM), and to assess the diagnostic value of this method for TBM. Methods: We prospectively included patients with suspected meningitis from the Department of Tuberculosis, Beijing Chest Hospital, Department of Neurology, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital and Department of Neurology, 263 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army from September 2019 to March 2022. A total of 189 patients were included in this study. Among them, 116 were male and 73 were female, aged from 7 to 85 years, with an average of (38.5±19.1) years. The CSF specimens of the patients were collected for Cf-TB, MTB culture and Xpert MTB/RIF. SPSS 20.0 was used for statistical analysis and the difference was statistically significant with P<0.05. Results: Among the 189 patients, there were 127 patients in the TBM group and 62 patients in the non-TBM group. The sensitivity of Cf-TB was 50.4% (95%CI 41.4%-59.3%), the specificity was 100% (95%CI 92.7%-100.0%), the positive predictive value was 100% (95%CI 92.9%-100.0%), and the negative predictive value was 49.6% (95%CI 40.6%-58.6%). Using clinical diagnosis as the gold standard, the sensitivity of Cf-TB was 50.4% (64/127), which was significantly higher than that of MTB culture (8.7%, 11/127) and Xpert MTB/RIF (15.7%,20/127) (all P<0.001). Using etiology as the gold standard, the sensitivity of Cf-TB was 72.7% (24/33), which was significantly higher than that of MTB culture [33.3%, 11/33, (χ2=10.28, P=0.001)] and was similar to Xpert MTB/RIF (60.6%, 20/33) (χ2=1.091, P=0.296). Conclusion: The sensitivity of the Cf-TB test was significantly higher than that of CSF MTB culture and Xpert MTB/RIF. Cf-TB may provide evidence for earlier diagnosis and treatment of TBM.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To summarize the clinical characteristics and investigate the efficacy of ethanol embolotherapy in the treatment of chest well arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Treatment-associated complications were also explored. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between March 2017 and August 2021, 32 consecutive patients (mean age, 23.7 years; age range, 5-54 years) who underwent ethanol embolotherapy for chest well AVMs under general anesthesia were included in this study. Embolization was performed through a direct puncture, transarterial catheterization, or a combination of the 2 procedures. The mean follow-up duration after the last treatment was 18.0 months (range, 3-42 months). The degree of devascularization on follow-up (assessed using angiography or computed tomography), and the clinical signs and symptoms of AVMs were evaluated as the therapeutic outcomes. The major and minor complications associated with the procedures were recorded. RESULTS A total of 103 embolization procedures (mean, 3.2; range, 2-7) comprising 101 ethanol embolization and 2 coil embolizations were performed on 32 patients with chest wall AVMs. The AVM nidus was accessed through the transarterial approach alone in 4 patients, by direct puncture in 11, and a combined procedure in 17 patients. Overall, more than 80% of the procedures were performed using the combined approach. Complete AVM devascularization was achieved in 12 (37.5%) patients. Moreover, 76% to 99% AVM was achieved in 18 patients (56.3%), and 50% to 75% in 2 patients (6.3%). Bleeding, pain, heart failure, and cosmetic deformities were the indications for treatment. For 3 patients (3/32, 9.4%) who had bleeding, the treatment stopped the hemorrhage. Complete pain relief was reported in 8 patients (8/32, 25.0%), whereas complete relief from congestive heart failure post-embolization was observed in 5 of the 6 patients with congestive heart failure (5/6, 83.3%). Complete correction of cosmesis deformities after embolization was achieved in 10 patients (10/32, 31.3%). Two patients who underwent surgery to correct persistent deformity after embolization only showed insignificant improvement. In addition, 6 (18.8%) patients developed 13 complications including blister, necrosis, hemothorax, transient hemoglobinuria, and transient pulmonary artery hypertension. CONCLUSIONS Ethanol embolotherapy is a safe and effective procedure for chest well AVMs. Surgery is required for some patients with residual cosmesis deformity. CLINICAL IMPACT Currently, there is no standard treatment for chest well AVMs due to their rarity and high heterogeneity. The present study shows that thanol embolotherapy is a safe and clinically effective treatment procedure for the chest well AVMs. Transarterial embolization in combination with direct puncture embolization can reach the AVM nidus. Ethanol embolotherapy can achieve complete obliteration of the AVM nidus in the majority of patients. Surgery may still be needed to correct cosmetic deformity after embolization. The present study provides valuable evidence to inform clinical decision-making.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the morphological changes of gray matter in clefts lip and palate (CLP) children using voxel-based morphometric (VBM) and surface-based morphometric (SBM) methods. So as to provide a reference for the neural mechanism of cleft palate speech disorder (CPSD) in CLP population. Methods: A total of 29 CLP children with CPSD who were admitted to Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Plastic & Tramuma Surgery, Capital Medical University School of Stomatology from January 2017 to January 2022 were selected (CLP group), including 9 males and 20 females, aged (9.6±3.2) years (5-17 years old). During the same period, 33 healthy children (healthy control group) were recruited in Beijing Children's Hospital, including 9 males and 24 females, aged (9.6±2.4) years (5-16 years). Results: There were no significant differences in age and gender between the healthy control group and the CLP group (t=-0.07, P=0.944; χ2=0.11, P=0.745). Compared with the healthy control group, the left inferior temporal gyrus, right inferior parietal angular gyrus, and left upper cerebellar gray matter volume in the CLP group were significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the volume of the right medial superior frontal gyrus was significantly increased (P<0.05). The left inferior frontal gyrus insula and the right insula cortical thickness of the subjects in the CLP group were significantly thinner [family-wise error rate (FWER) correction, P=0.035]. The right hemisphere cingulate gyrus isthmus sulcus index increased in the CLP group (FWER correction, P=0.040). Conclusions: CLP children with speech disorder have multiple language-related brain regions with reduced gray matter (GM) volume, decreased cortical thickness, and increased gyrificaition index. The abnormal changes in GM morphology in these brain regions may be related to the characteristics of cleft palate speech disorder in the CLP population.

Abstract
Background Periodontal disease is very common worldwide and is one of the main causes of tooth loss in adults. Periodontal disease is characterized by chronic inflammation that can destroy adjacent alveolar bone and lead to a loss of periodontal ligaments. Although previous studies have found that a daily diet can influence the development of periodontal disease (e.g., a diet low in carbohydrates and rich in vitamins C and D and fiber can have a protective effect). Periodontal disease may present as gingivitis or periodontitis. However, studies on the role of healthy eating index in periodontitis are lacking. The purpose of this study was to assess the association between healthy eating index and periodontitis. Methods We analyzed data collected from participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a nationally representative survey conducted in 2-year cycles from 2013 to 2014. As part of our analysis, we developed multivariate logistic regression models to examine the independent association between the healthy eating index and periodontitis. We evaluated the significance of association using odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results Individuals with a lower total healthy eating index had a higher prevalence of periodontitis. Adjusted multivariate regression models showed that a higher healthy diet index was associated with a lower prevalence of periodontitis (OR = 0.69, 95% CI: 0.55-0.86, P < 0.05). Conclusion The results of the study showed that dietary structure was associated with the prevalence of periodontitis. Patients with a higher healthy eating index had a lower prevalence of periodontitis. These findings will need to be confirmed by longitudinal, prospective studies in the future.

Abstract
Background RNA methylation is one of the most common RNA modifications and is dynamic and reversible. The enzymes and downstream effectors associated with RNA methylation modifications can be targeted to regulate RNA methylation levels. This mechanism can affect RNA processing, metabolism, cell proliferation and migration, and regulation of physiological or pathological processes. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of RNA methylation-related genes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods Baseline RNA methylation data were extracted from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. The expression pattern, predictive value, mutational profile, and interaction network of RNA methylation genes in pancancer were examined. Then, the association between the expression of RNA methylation genes and immune infiltration was investigated. In addition, a risk score model for HCC was developed and analyzed. Results Cancer cells had a higher expression of RNA methylation genes than normal cells in some cancer cells, and a higher expression of RNA methylation genes could negatively affect patient prognosis. Enrichment analysis revealed that RNA methylation genes are involved in the mRNA surveillance pathway and RNA degradation and transport. A 4-gene (ALYREF, NSUN4, TRMT6, YTHDF1) prognostic signature was established to predict HCC prognosis based on RNA methylation-related genes. Finally, the role of prognostic models in HCC was validated. Conclusion RNA methylation genes can be an indicator of oncogenicity in relation to HCC prognosis and are associated with immune infiltration in the tumour microenvironment. This finding could provide clinicians with the opportunity to explore new strategic approaches.

Abstract
Aim: The search for prognostic biomarkers and the construction of a prognostic risk model for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) based on N7-methyladenosine (m7G) methylation regulators. Methods: HCC transcriptomic data and clinical data were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, respectively. m7G methylation regulators were extracted, differential expression analysis was performed using the R software "limma" package, and one-way Cox regression analysis was used to screen for prognostic associations of m7G regulators. Using multi-factor Cox regression analysis, a prognostic risk model for HCC was constructed. Each patient's risk score was calculated using the model, and patients were divided into high- and low-risk groups according to the median risk score. Cox regression analysis was used to verify the validity of the model in the prognostic assessment of HCC in conjunction with clinicopathological characteristics. Results: The prognostic model was built using the seven genes, namely, CYFIP1, EIF4E2, EIF4G3, GEMIN5, NCBP2, NUDT10, and WDR4. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed poorer 5-years overall survival in the high-risk group compared with the low-risk group, and the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve suggested good model prediction (area under the curve AUC = 0.775, 0.820, and 0.839 at 1, 3, and 5 years). The Cox regression analysis included model risk scores and clinicopathological characteristics, and the results showed that a high-risk score was the only independent risk factor for the prognosis of patients with HCC. Conclusions: The developed bioinformatics-based prognostic risk model for HCC was found to have good predictive power.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the role of dual-energy computed tomography perfusion (DECTP) imaging in differentiating invasive thymomas (ITs), thymic cancers (TCs), and lymphomas in adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ninety-five patients with solid masses in the prevascular mediastinum who underwent DECTP examinations were enrolled in this study. The perfusion parameters (blood flow, BF; blood volume, BV; mean transit time, MTT; permeability surface, PS) and spectral parameters (water concentration, WC; iodine concentration, IC; normalised iodine concentration, NIC; the slope of spectral radiodensity [Hounsfield units] curve, λHU) of the lesions were analysed. RESULTS There were no differences in the MTT or WC values among ITs, TCs, and lymphomas (all p>0.05). The IC, NIC, and λHU values in the optimal arterial and venous phases and PS values of TCs were higher than those of ITs and lymphomas (all p<0.05), and there were no differences between ITs and lymphomas (all p>0.05). The BF and BV values of lymphomas were lower than those of ITs and TCs (all p<0.05), and there were no differences between ITs and TCs (all p>0.05). The cut-off values for BF and BV used to differentiate lymphomas from ITs and TCs were 42.83 ml/min/100 g and 4.66 ml/100 g, respectively (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve: 0.847 and 0.839; sensitivity, 80.6% and 82.1%; specificity, 75% and 71.4%; accuracy, 78.9% and 81.1%). CONCLUSIONS The perfusion and spectral parameters of DECTP imaging help to identify ITs, TCs, and lymphomas, and BF and BV values help to differentiate lymphomas from ITs and TCs.

Abstract
Background: Necroptosis is a newly recognized form of cell death. Here, we applied bioinformatics tools to identify necroptosis-related genes using a dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, then constructed a model for prognosis of patients with prostate cancer. Methods: RNA sequence (RNA‐seq) data and clinical information for Prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) patients were obtained from the TCGA portal (http://tcga-data.nci.nih.gov/tcga/). We performed comprehensive bioinformatics analyses to identify hub genes as potential prognostic biomarkers in PRAD u followed by establishment and validation of a prognostic model. Next, we assessed the overall prediction performance of the model using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and the area under curve (AUC) of the ROC. Results: A total of 5 necroptosis-related genes, namely ALOX15, BCL2, IFNA1, PYGL and TLR3, were used to construct a survival prognostic model. The model exhibited excellent performance in the TCGA cohort and validation group and had good prediction accuracy in screening out high-risk prostate cancer patients. Conclusion: We successfully identified necroptosis-related genes and constructed a prognostic model that can accurately predict 1- 3-and 5-years overall survival (OS) rates of PRAD patients. Our riskscore model has provided novel strategy for the prediction of PRAD patients’ prognosis.

Abstract
PURPOSE To summarize a 10-year, single-institution experience with ethanol embolization of nasal arteriovenous malformations (NAVMs) in 52 patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS The present work was a retrospective study of 52 patients (aged between 1 and 67 years) with NAVMs who were treated with ethanol embolization between August 2009 and August 2019. The diagnosis of NAVMs was established based on clinical and imaging studies including ultrasound, computer tomography angiography, and digital subtract angiography. Embolization techniques used in the current study included transarterial, direct puncture, and a combination of both. The clinical and angiographic features, treatment methods, clinical outcomes, and complications were assessed within the mean period of 55.2 months (range, 1-119 months) after the last embolization. RESULTS The total number of embolization sessions (140 embolization procedures in 52 pts) included transarterial approach (1 pt), direct puncture (2 pt), and a combination of transarterial and direct puncture (49 pts). There was a positive correlation between nidus size and treatment sessions (r = 0.780, P = 0.0005) and the amount of ethanol injected (r = 0.840, P = 0.0004). Results of the current study showed that the therapeutic outcomes were complete response in two patients (3.8%) without recurrence throughout the follow-up period (range, 1-119 months; mean, 55.2 months), and partial response in 50 patients (96.2%). A total of seven patients (13.5%) experienced one or more complications, including skin necrosis in one patient (1.9%), transient hemoglobinuria in five patients (9.6%), and skin blister in five patients (9.6%). CONCLUSION The reported single-institution experience evidently indicated that ethanol embolotherapy has the potential to successfully devascularize NAVMs and also significantly improve symptoms and signs. Further, it was evident that the use of a combination of transarterial and direct puncture techniques has the potential to increase the rate of therapeutic response in patients with NAVMs.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the application of island flap and combined flap in one-stage reconstruction of nasal alae defects after external nasal tumor resection. Methods: Data of 11 patients with perforating or full-thickness defects of the alae after nasal tumor resection in XuanWu Hospital, Capital Medical University between June 2016 and February 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. There were 7 males and 4 females, and the ages ranged from 51 to 89 years. Island flap, island flap combined with nasolabial flap or V-Y advancement flap, and island flap combined with bilobed flap were applied according to the range of defects. Descriptive statistical method was applied to analyze the treatment effects. Results: All flaps of the 11 patients were successful survival and the incisions were primary healing. Being followed up for 5 to 59 months, the patients had satisfying appearance and ventilation function, and no tumor relapsed. Conclusion: For the patients with nasal alae defects after external nose tumor resection, selecting suitable island skin flap or combined skin flap can be used to reconstruct the ideal nasal appearance and function of the nose.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ethanol embolization of lip arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-six patients with lip AVMs were treated with 173 ethanol embolization procedures. Lip AVMs were treated with direct puncture alone in 21 patients (35 procedures, 20.2%), transarterial embolization alone in 13 patients (18 procedures, 10.4 %), and a combination of both in 60 patients (120 procedures, 69.3%). Adjunctive surgical resection was performed after embolization for cosmetic purposes based on the patient's request, including patient preference, functional impairment, and skin necrosis. The mean duration of follow-up was 30.9 months ± 27.6. The follow-up included clinic visits and telephonic questionnaires to evaluate the clinical signs and symptoms of AVMs as well as quality of life measures. RESULTS Of 76 patients, 51 showed 100% devascularization of AVMs, as determined using arteriography, followed by 23 with 76%-99% devascularization and 2 with 50%-75% devascularization. Of the 76 patients, 40 achieved complete symptom relief and 25 achieved major improvements in cosmetic deformity after embolization. Additionally, 54 patients achieved satisfactory function and aesthetic improvement with ethanol embolotherapy alone, whereas 22 achieved similar outcomes with a combination of ethanol embolotherapy and surgical intervention. Thirty-three adverse events (including 1 major) were documented. CONCLUSIONS Ethanol embolization of lip AVMs, as a mainstay, is efficacious in managing these lesions, with acceptable complications. Surgical resection after embolization may improve function and cosmesis in a subset of patients.

Abstract
Background In this study, a prognostic model based on pyroptosis-related genes was established to predict overall survival (OS) in patients with glioblastoma (GBM). Methods The gene expression data and clinical information of GBM patients were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and bioinformatics analysis of differentially expressed genes was performed. LASSO Cox regression model was used to construct a three-pyroptosis-related gene signature, and validation was performed using an experimental cohort. Results A total of three pyroptosis-related genes (CASP4, CASP9, and NOD2) were used to construct a survival prognostic model, and experimental validation was performed using an experimental cohort. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed, and the area under the ROC curves (AUC) was 0.921, 0.840, and 0.905 at 1, 3, and 5 years, respectively. Functional analysis revealed that T-cell activation, regulation of T-cell activation, leukocyte cell-cell adhesion, and positive regulation of cell adhesion among other immune-related functions were enriched, and immune-related processes were different between the two risk groups. Conclusion In this study, a novel prognostic model based on three pyroptosis-related genes is constructed and used to predict the prognosis of GBM patients. The model can accurately and conveniently predict the 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS of GBM patients.

Abstract
Researches on pulp regeneration based on odontogenic stem cells have made a breakthrough and some results have been applied clinically in recent years. It is demonstrated that exosomes secreted by stem cells play a significant role in tissue regeneration. Compared with stem cells, exosomes exhibit more advantages such as wider sources, more immediate effects, and less immune rejections, which are expected to be exploited in the pulp regeneration by cell-homing. In this review, the conventional dental pulp tissue engineering and exosomes-based dental pulp regeneration method are discussed, the new strategy for dental pulp regeneration by using exosomes is analyzed and proposed.

Abstract
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide, whose symptoms ranging from mild to severe, even life-threatening. However, specific cell types and key regulators involved in traumatic brain injury have not been well elucidated. In this study, utilizing single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data from mice with TBI, we have successfully identified and characterized 13 cell populations including astrocytes, oligodendrocyte, newly formed oligodendrocytes, microglia, two types of endothelial cells, five types of excitatory and two types of inhibitory neurons. Differential expression analysis and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) revealed the upregulation of microglia and endothelial markers, along with the downregulation of markers of excitatory neurons in TBI. The cell-cell communication analysis revealed that microglia and endothelial cell might interact through the interaction of Icam1-Il2rg and C1qa-Cd93, and microglia might also communicate with each other via Icam1-Itagm. The autocrine ligand-receptor in microglia might result in activation of TYROBP causal network via Icam1-Itgam. The cell-cell contact between microglia and endothelial cell might activate integrin signaling pathways. Moreover, we also found that genes involved in microglia activation were highly downregulated in Tyrobp/Dap12-deficient microglia, indicating that the upregulation of Tyrobp and TYROBP causal network in microglia might be a candidate therapeutic target in TBI. In contrast, the excitatory neurons were involved in maintaining normal brain function, and their inactivation might cause dysfunction of nervous system in TBI patients. In conclusion, the present study has discerned major cell types such as microglia, endothelial cells and excitatory neurons, and revealed key regulator such as TYROBP, C1QA, and CD93 in TBI, which shall improve our understanding of the pathogenesis of TBI.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the protective effect of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) and liraglutide on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) -induced acute lung injury (ALI) . Methods: AD-MSCs were cultured in vitro and randomly divided into 3 groups: control group, LPS group (30 mg/L) , and LPS (30 mg/L) +liraglutide (10 nM) group. MTT assay was used to detect the proliferation of AD-MSCs at 6, 24, 48 and 72 h. Annexin V-FITC / PI double staining flow cytometry was used to detect the apoptosis of the cells. Western blot was used to detect the expression of apoptotic proteins cleaved caspase-3, Bax and Bcl-2 at 72 h in vitro. For the in vivo experiment, 60 male SPF BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 5 groups: control group, ALI group, ALI+AD-MSCs group, ALI+Liraglutide group, and ALI+AD-MSCs+Lraglutide group. The mice were sacrificed on day 2 and day 7 after LPS treatment. HE staining was used to examine the pathological changes of the lungs of mice, and the scores of lung injury were measured. The lung tissues of mice were examined by immunohistochemistry, and the expression of the marker protein Nanog of mesenchymal stem cells was observed. BALF was collected, and the number of BALF neutrophils was counted by Rayleigh Giemsa staining. The wet/dry specific gravity of mouse lung tissue was recorded. Results: The apoptosis of AD-MSCs stimulated by LPS was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05) , and the proliferation of AD-MSCs at 6, 24, 48 and 72 h was significantly lower than that of the control group (all P<0.05) . The addition of Liraglutide reduced the apoptosis of AD-MSCs (P<0.05) , and promoted the proliferation of AD-MSC at 6, 24, 48 and 72 h. Compared with the control group, in the 2 d and 7 d model groups, the lung injury pathology of ALI group had lung injury, increased number of neutrophils in BALF (65.63±1.34 vs 1.74±0.17, 51.67±1.35 vs 1.55±0.13) ×10(4)/ml (all P<0.05) , and increased W/D of lung tissues. The expression level of Nanog protein was low in the 7 d model group. Compared with the ALI group, in 2 d and 7 d model groups, the ALI+AD-MSCs group, the ALI+liraglutide group, and the ALI+AD-MSCs+liraglutide group showed reduced lung injury pathology, and the number of neutrophils was decreased, (37.04±1.23, 29.17±0.68) ×10(4) / ml (all P<0.05) in the ALI+AD -MSCs group, (39.58±1.67, 35.42±0.25) ×10(4) / ml in the ALI+Liraglutide group (all P<0.05) and (28.54±0.37, 21.46±0.89) ×10(4)/ml (all P<0.05) in the ALI+AD-MSCs+Liraglutide group. Lung tissue W/D in the ALI+AD-MSCs group, ALI+Liraglutide group and ALI+AD-MSCs+Liraglutide group showed the same trend. Nanog protein expression increased in the 7 d model group. Conclusions: AD-MSCs play a protective role in acute lung injury in mice under the synergistic effect of liraglutide.

Abstract
Tumor migration and invasion are key pathological processes that contribute to cell metastasis as well as treatment failure in patients with malignant tumors. However, the mechanisms governing tumor cell migration remain poorly understood. By analyzing the tumor-related database and tumor cell lines, we found that preoptic regulatory factor-2 (Porf-2) is downexpressed in both neuroblastoma and glioma. Using in vitro assays, our data demonstrated that the expression of Porf-2 inhibits tumor cell migration both in neuroblastoma and glioma cell lines. Domain-mutated Porf-2 plasmids were then constructed, and it was found that the GAP domain, which plays a role in the inactivation of Rac1, is the functional domain for inhibiting tumor cell migration. Furthermore, by screening potential downstream effectors, we found that Porf-2 can reduce MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression. Overexpression of MMP-2 blocked the inhibitory effect of Porf-2 in tumor cell migration both in vitro and in vivo. Taken together, we show for the first time that Porf-2 is capable of suppressing tumor cell migration via its GAP domain and the downregulation of MMP-2/9, suggesting that targeting Porf-2 could be a promising therapeutic strategy for nervous system tumors.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 cases in different epidemic stages in Gansu province. Methods: Epidemiological investigation was conducted to collect the information of confirmed COVID-19 cases, including demographic, epidemiological and clinical information. Results: As of 25 February 2020, a total of 91 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported in Gansu. The epidemic of COVID-19 in Gansu can be divided as three different stages, i.e. imported case stage, imported-case plus indigenous case stage, and indigenous case stage. A total of 63 cases were clustered cases (69.23%), 3 cases were medical staff infected with non-occupational exposure. The initial symptoms included fever (54.95%, 50/91), cough (52.75%, 48/91), or fatigue (28.57%, 26/91), the proportion of each symptom showed a decreasing trend along with the three epidemic stages, but only the differences in proportions of fever (trend χ2=2.20, P<0.05) and fatigue (trend χ2=3.18, P<0.05) among the three epidemic stages were statistically significant. The cases with critical severe symptoms accounted for 42.85% (6/14), 23.73% (14/59) and 16.67% (3/18), respectively, in three epidemic stages, showed a decreasing trend (H=6.45, P<0.05). Also, the incubation period prolonged along with the epidemic stage (F=51.65, P<0.01), but the intervals between disease onset and hospital visit (F=5.32, P<0.01), disease onset and diagnosis (F=5.25, P<0.01) became shorter along with the epidemic stage. Additionally, the basic reproduction number (R0) had decreased from 2.61 in imported case stage to 0.66 in indigenous case stage. Conclusions: The COVID-19 epidemic in Gansu was caused by the imported cases, and about 2/3 cases were clustered ones. No medical worker was observed to be infected by occupational exposure. With the progression of COVID-19 epidemic in Gansu, the change in initial symptom and incubation period suggests, the early screening cannot only depend on body temperature monitoring.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The extremity intraosseous arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare high flow vascular lesions for which the treatment remains challenging. The aim of the study wasto assess treatment methods, interim results, and complications of coils and absolute ethanol in managing extremity intraosseous AVMs via direct puncture approach. METHODS From 2009 to 2017, 12 patients (mean age, 27.5 years; range, 3-54 years) with extremity intraosseous AVMs underwent staged coils and absolute ethanol treatment via the direct puncture approach. All patients were symptomatic before the procedure as per the Schobinger staging system. The mechanical detachable coils and undetachable coils were used first followed by the injection of absolute ethanol used as a sclerosant agent via a direct puncture approach. Follow-up evaluation (6 to 72 months; mean, 23.5 months), including imaging and symptoms and signs, was performed in all patients. RESULTS Twenty-seven absolute alcohol procedures were performed for patients with intravascular sclerosis (range: 1-3, mean: 2) with one procedure required per patient (n = 2), 2 per patient (n = 5), or 3 per patient (n = 5). The average stretched length of the total coils per patient was 843.33 cm. The amount of absolute ethanol used ranged from 10 mL to 45 mL (mean, 25.69 mL) in a single session. Nine of twelve patients (75%) exhibited complete responses, and 3 patients (25%) exhibited partial responses. One patient experienced minor complication of transient motor nerve injury and completely recovered half a month later. No major complications occurred. CONCLUSIONS The study provides strong evidence, suggesting that direct puncture and coils with absolute ethanol approach is an effective and safe treatment in patients with extremity intraosseous AVMs, yielding minor complications and good results.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the epidemiological and spatial-temporal distribution of Brucellosis, epidemic encephalitis B and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Gansu province during 2014-2018 so as to provide evidence for the prevention and control of those diseases. Methods: A database was established in Gansu province from 2014 to 2018, using the geographical information system. A spatial distribution map was drawn, with trend analysis and space-time clustering used to study the 3-dimention of the diseases, by using both ArcGIS 10.5 and SaTScan 9.6 softwares. Results: Results from the trend surface analysis showed that the incidence of Brucellosis decreased gradually from north to south parts while the U type curve could reflect the distribution from the east to the west areas. Incidence of epidemic encephalitis B decreased significantly from south to north areas in the province, with incidence higher in the eastern than in the mid-west region. Difference on the incidence of HFRS was not significantly visible in the eastern and western regions, while the incidence was slightly higher in the southern than the northern parts of the province. Spatial and space-time clustering did exist among the 3 diseases in Gansu from 2014 to 2018. The areas with clusters of Brucellosis appeared in the eastern parts during 2014-2015, including 19 counties. The areas with secondary clusters of Brucellosis were seen in the Hexi district, including 4 counties, during 2017-2018. The areas with high incidence of epidemic encephalitis B were clustered in the middle and southeast areas, including 32 counties, during 2017-2018. Areas with most clusters of HFRS appeared in Min county of Dingxi city in 2018, with the areas of secondary clusters in 8 counties of the eastern areas in 2018. Conclusions: The overall incidence rates of the 3 natural focus diseases were in a upward trend and showing obvious characteristics on spatial clustering. According to the distributive characteristics, effective measures should be developed accordingly.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the influence of Barrett calculator and AcrySof calculator on astigmatism correction effect. Methods: This is a randomized prospective study. A total of 64 cases (81 eyes) who planed to undergo phacoemulsification at Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital during January 2017 and March 2018 were enrolled and divided into two groups randomly, including of the Barrett calculator group of 34 cases (41 eyes) and the AcrySof calculator group of 30 cases (40 eyes). Preoperative ocular biological parameters were measured using Lenstar LS900. The Toric intraocular lenses (IOL) plans were determined based on Barrett calculator and the AcrySof calculator for the two groups respectively. Subjective optometry was performed by phoropter and Toric IOL alignment was detected by slitlamp examination at 1 and 3 months postoperatively. Statistical analysis was taken with the data of 29 cases (35 eyes) in the Barrett calculator group and 26 cases (35 eyes) in the AcrySof calculator group, there were 20 males (25 eyes) and 35 females (45 eyes) with an average age of (72±10) years. The difference between the predicted residual astigmatism by the two calculators and the residual astigmatism obtained by postoperative optometry is the error of refractive astigmatism (ERA). The magnitude error is the algebraic difference of ERA. Vector error(VE) is a vector difference of ERA. Statistical analysis of magnitude error and VE between the two groups were taken by student's t test or rank sum test. Results: At 1 months and 3 months, the magnitude error absolute value of Barrett calculator group were (0.19±0.16)D, (0.28±0.24)D, and those of AcrySof calculator group were (0.36±0.28)D, (0.46±0.41)D, and the differences were statistically significant (t=-3.050, -2.036, both P<0.05). At 1 month postoperatively, the overall, with-the-rule astigmatism, and against-the-rule astigmatism VE of the Barrett calculator group were (0.30±0.21)D, (0.26±0.22)D, (0.37±0.26)D respectively, and those of the AcrySof calculator group were (0.47±0.33)D, (0.51±0.34)D and (0.52±0.38)D respectively, the differences between the two groups were statistically significant (t=-2.533, -2.436, -2.150, all P<0.05). At 3 months postoperatively, the overall, with-the-rule astigmatism, and against-the-rule astigmatism VE of the Barrett calculator group were (0.37±0.28)D, (0.29±0.17)D, (0.35±0.27)D respectively, and those of the AcrySof calculator group were (0.59±0.46)D, (0.54±0.37)D, (0.64±0.52)D respectively, the differences between the two groups were statistically significant (t=-2.142, -2.038, -2.481, all P<0.05).The difference of X(EV) between the Barrett calculator group and the AcrySof calculator group was statistically significant[-0.13(-0.36-0.80)D vs. 0.19(-1.01-0.71)D, Z=-2.965,P<0.01], and the difference of Y(EV) was statistically significant [-0.02(-0.51-0.64)D vs. -0.15(-0.88-1.10)D, Z=-2.076, P<0.05] at 1 months. There was no significant difference in X(EV) and Y(EV) (both P>0.05) at 3 months. Conelusion: As compared to AcrySof Toric calculator, the application of Barrett calculator in selecting Toric IOL may reduce ERA and improve Toric IOL correction outcomes. Abstract
Objective: To compare the surgical induced astigmatism(SIA) of the total, anterior and posterior cornea between eyes with 2.2-mm and 3.0-mm clear corneal incisions in phacoemulsification. Methods: A prospective double-blind randomized controlled study was conducted on 131 patients (131 eyes) with age-related cataract from October 2017 to June 2018. They were randomized according to the random number table. Sixty-nine patients received phacoemulsification through a 2.2-mm clear corneal incision at 140 degrees; 62 patients were recruited in the control group with a 3.0-mm clear corneal incision at the same position. Lens density was graded and compared between the groups preoperatively. Total corneal refractive power (TCRP), simulated keratometry (SimK) and posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA) (Apex, 4-mm zone) were recorded through the Pentacam preoperatively and at 1 week, 1 month and 3 months postoperatively. Corneal astigmatism was decomposed to vertical/horizontal (X) and oblique changes (Y) using the power vector analysis. Independent sample t test and matched t test were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 123 patients (123 eyes) completed 3 months of follow-up including 65 in the 2.2-mm group and 58 in the control group. The age of the two groups was (69±9) and (71±10) years old, and the lens density was (2.08±0.47) and (2.12±0.46) grades, respectively. Both the age and the lens density of the two groups were not statistically significant (both P>0.05). Preoperative TCRP, SimK and PCA were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). SIA was calculated using the vector analysis. Centroid SIA conducted from TCRP, SimK and PCA in the 2.2-mm group was -0.11 D@146°, -0.11 D@151° and -0.03 D@67°, respectively, at 3 months postoperatively. In the 3.0-mm group, it was -0.25 D@158°, -0.24 D@147° and -0.04 D@47°, respectively. Statistical significance was found between the two groups in the Y polar value of SIA of the anterior surface [(-0.10±0.30) vs.(-0.22±0.37) D, t=-2.133, P=0.035] and the SIA of the posterior surface [(0.24±0.16) vs. (0.19±0.12) D, t=2.009, P=0.047] at 3 months postoperatively. In the comparison of the SIA of TCRP and anterior surface, statistical significance was found in the absolute value of SIA at all the intervals in the 2.2-mm group [(0.87±0.80) vs. (0.58±0.48) D, (0.58±0.48) vs. (0.50±0.28)D, (0.57±0.37) vs. (0.47±0.28) D, t=5.102, 4.155, 3.877, all P<0.01] and at 1 week and 1 month in the 3.0-mm group [(0.82±0.57) vs. (0.58±0.41) D, (0.59±0.36) vs. (0.50±0.28) D, t=5.034, 3.919, both P<0.01]. X components of SIA(TCRP) and SIA(simk) were significantly different at 3 month postoperatively in 3.0-mm group (P<0.05). Y components of SIA(TCRP) and SIA(SimK) were significantly different at 1 week postoperatively in the 2.2-mm group[(-0.48±0.85) vs.(-0.24±0.42) D, P<0.01] and 3.0-mm group [(-0.58±0.66) vs. (-0.37±0.42) D, P<0.01]. Conclusions: Compared with the 3.0-mm incision, the 2.2-mm coaxial micro-incision cataract surgery has a lower and more stable SIA. The effect of a clear corneal incision in cataract surgery on the total cornea is more obvious than that on the anterior surface of the cornea. Abstract
AIM Perineal wound complications after abdominoperineal resection (APR) have become a major clinical challenge. Myocutaneous flap closure has been proposed in place of primary closure to improve wound healing. We conducted this comprehensive meta-analysis to evaluate the current scientific evidence of primary closure vs myocutaneous flap closure of perineal defects following APR for colorectal disease. METHODS We systematically searched the MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library databases to identify all relevant studies. After data extraction from the included studies, meta-analysis was performed to compare perioperative outcomes of primary closure and myocutaneous flap closure. RESULTS Eighteen studies with a total of 17 913 patients (16 346 primary closure vs 1567 myocutaneous flap closure) were included. We found that primary closure was significantly associated with higher total perineal wound complications (P = 0.007), major perineal wound complications (P < 0.001) and perineal wound infection (P = 0.001). On the other hand, myocutaneous flap closure takes more operation time (P < 0.001) and increases the risk of perineal wound dehiscence (P = 0.01), deep surgical site infection (P < 0.001), enterocutaneous fistulas (P = 0.03) and return to the operating room (P = 0.0005). There were no significant differences between the two groups for other outcomes. CONCLUSIONS This is the first systematic review with meta-analysis comparing primary closure with myocutaneous flap closure of perineal defects after APR for colorectal disease. Although taking more operation time and an increased risk of specific complications, the pooled results have validated the use of myocutaneous flaps for reducing total/major perineal wound complications. More investigations are needed to draw definitive conclusions on this dilemma.

Abstract
Kaposiform haemangioendotheliomas (KHEs) complicated by the Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon (KMP) are rare and severe neoplastic lesions often associated with locally aggressive disease, consumption coagulopathy and high mortality rates. Current regimens have yet to achieve a satisfactory therapeutic effect. Thus, an effective and minimally invasive approach for treating complex KHE/KMP cases is necessary for clinical management. The present case series describes patients with KHE/KMP who underwent local suture ligation-assisted percutaneous sclerotherapy to minimise surgical trauma and ensure effective treatment. Between September 2015 and September 2017, 3 consecutive patients with KHE/KMP underwent staged local suture ligation-assisted percutaneous sclerotherapy. Of these patients, 2 presented with medical histories of corticosteroid treatment with unsatisfactory outcomes. The patients underwent a stepwise synthetic serial therapy programme consisting of percutaneous sclerotherapy and adjunctive pharmacotherapy accompanied by a suture ligation procedure. Clinical, radiological, pathological and laboratory data were analysed to evaluate the outcomes of the therapy. All patients were successfully managed with the proposed procedure. Significant relief of clinical symptoms and improvements in haematological indicators were achieved. No recurrence or complications were observed during regular follow-up (4, 19 and 28 months). In conclusion, local suture ligation-assisted percutaneous sclerotherapy was demonstrated to be a safe and effective treatment for KHE/KMP, being minimally invasive, involving simple manipulation and providing a clear treatment benefit in certain cases. Further studies involving larger sample sizes are required to thoroughly evaluate the procedure, which can potentially be used as a novel therapeutic option for KHE/KMP treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To optimize the warning threshold values of common communicable diseases in Gansu province, and improve the early warning effect. Method: An early warning model was set up for influenza, scarlet fever, other infectious diarrheal diseases, dysentery, typhoid and paratyphoid, viral hepatitis type E and hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) respectively in Gansu by using the moving percentile method and cumulative sum method. By calculating the sensitivity, specificity, predictive value of positive test, predictive value of negative test, Youden' index and receiver-operating characteristic curve, the optimum early warning threshold values for communicable diseases in Gansu were selected. Results: The optimum early warning boundary values of influenza, scarlet fever, other infectious diarrheal diseases, dysentery, typhoid and paratyphoid, and viral hepatitis type E were P(90), P(80), P(95), P(90), P(80) and P(90) respectively. The optimum early warning parameters of HFMD were k=1.2, H=5σ. Under the optimum early warning boundary values/parameters, the early warning sensitivities of influenza, scarlet fever, other infectious diarrheal diseases, dysentery, typhoid and paratyphoid, viral hepatitis type E and HFMD were 86.67%, 100.00%, 91.67%, 100.00%, 100.00%, 100.00% and 100.00%, the specificities were 86.49%, 62.22%, 75.00%, 100.00%, 97.92%, 89.13% and 74.47%. The predictive values of positive test were 72.22%, 29.17%, 52.38%, 100.00%, 80.00%, 54.55% and 29.41%, and the predictive values of negative test were 94.12%, 100.00%, 96.77%, 100.00%, 100.00%, 100.00% and 100.00%, and the Youden' indexes were 0.73, 0.62, 0.67, 1.00, 0.98,0.89 and 0.74. Receiver-operating characteristic curve showed that the values/parameters of this warning boundary were the points closest to the upper left of the coordinate diagram. Conclusion: The early warning thresholds of influenza, other infectious diarrheal diseases, dysentery and hepatitis E in Gansu may be raised appropriately and the early warning parameters of HFMD need to be adjusted to improve the effectiveness of early warning.

Abstract
Background: Traumatic optic nerve injury is a leading cause of irreversible blindness across the world and causes progressive visual impairment attributed to the dysfunction and death of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). To date, neither pharmacological nor surgical interventions are sufficient to halt or reverse the progress of visual loss. Axon regeneration is critical for functional recovery of vision following optic nerve injury. After optic nerve injury, RGC axons usually fail to regrow and die, leading to the death of the RGCs and subsequently inducing the functional loss of vision. However, the detailed molecular mechanisms underlying axon regeneration after optic nerve injury remain poorly understood. Methods: Research content related to the detailed molecular mechanisms underlying axon regeneration after optic nerve injury have been reviewed. Results: The present review provides an overview of regarding potential strategies for axonal regeneration of RGCs and optic nerve repair, focusing on the role of cytokines and their downstream signaling pathways involved in intrinsic growth program and the inhibitory environment together with axon guidance cues for correct axon guidance. A more complete understanding of the factors limiting axonal regeneration will provide a rational basis, which contributes to develop improved treatments for optic nerve regeneration. These findings are encouraging and open the possibility that clinically meaningful regeneration may become achievable in the future. Conclusion: Combination of treatments towards overcoming growth-inhibitory molecules and enhancing intrinsic growth capacity combined with correct guidance using axon guidance cues is crucial for developing promising therapies to promote axon regeneration and functional recovery after ON injury.

Abstract
Although shape memory polymers have been highlighted widely and developed rapidly, it is still a challenging task to realize complex temporary shapes automatically in practical applications. Herein, a novel shape memory hydrogel with the ability of self-deformation is presented. Through constructing an anisotropic poly(acrylic acid)-polyacrylamide (PAAc-PAAm) structure, the obtained hydrogel exhibits stable self-deformation behavior in response to pH stimulus, and the shapes that formed automatically can be fixed by the coordination between carboxylic groups and Fe3+ ; therefore, self-deformation and shape memory behaviors are integrated in one system. Moreover, the magnitude of auto-deformation and shape memory could be adjusted with the concentration of corresponding ions, leading to programmable shape memory and shape recovery processes.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of MRI features and pathological parameters on local recurrence, metastasis and progression free survival (PFS) for locally advanced rectal cancer after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and subsequent total mesorectal excision surgery. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 95 patients with locally advanced rectal adenocarcinoma who underwent total mesorectal excision after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy was performed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate the predictive value of MRI features before chemoradiation and postoperative pathological parameters on progression free survival. Results: Among the 95 cases, 5 cases occured local recurrence, 21 cases developed, 3 cases including both locally recurrence and distant metastasis, 19 died and 47 had no recurrence or metastasis at the last of follow-up. Univariant analysis showed that MRI signs before chemoradiation, namely, mr circumferential resection margin, mr levator ani muscle invasion, mr lymphatic vessel invasion, mr tumor deposition and postoperative pathological parameters, yp circumferential resection margin, yp lymphatic vessel invasion were related to PFS (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis of Cox proportional hazard model showed that mr lymphatic vessel invasion and mr tumor deposition were independent factors for PFS (OR=2.774 and 3.029, P<0.05). Conclusions: Lymphatic vessel invasion and tumor deposition on MRI are independent prognostic factors for progression free survival of locally advanced rectal cancer after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and TME surgery. To some extent, MRI signs can assess local recurrence and distant metastasis in locally advanced rectal cancer patients after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and mesorectal excision.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and clinicopathological features of primary lesions in patients with occult breast cancer (OBC). Methods: The imaging reports from the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System in 2013 were retrospectively analyzed to investigate the morphology and the time signal intensity curve (TIC) of breast lesions in patients with OBC. The clinical and pathological characteristics of these patients were also included. Results: A total of 34 patients were enrolled. Among these patients, 24 patients underwent modified radical mastectomy and 18 of them had primary breast carcinoma in pathological sections. MRI detected 17 cases of primary lesions, including six masse lesions with a diameter of 0.6-1.2 cm (average 0.9 cm), and 11 non-mass lesions with four linear distributions, three segmental distributions, three focal distributions, and one regions distribution. Five patients had TIC typeⅠprimary lesions, ten had TIC type Ⅱ primary lesions, and two had TIC type Ⅲ primary lesions. Among all 34 cases, 23 of them had complete results of immunohistochemistry: 11 estrogen receptor (ER) positive lesions (47.8%), tenprogesterone receptor (PR) positive lesions (43.5%), seven human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) positive lesions (30.4%), and 20high expression(>14%) of Ki-67 (87.0%). The proportion of type luminal A was 4.3%, type luminal B was 43.5%, triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) was 30.4%, and HER-2 over expression accounted for 21.7%. Conclusions: The primary lesions of OBC usually manifested as small mass lesions, or focal, linear or segmental distribution of non-mass lesions. The positive rate of ER and PR was low, but the positive rate of HER-2 and the proliferation index of Ki-67 was high. Type luminal B is the most common molecular subtype.

Abstract
The primary aim of the present study was to examine the effects of microRNA‑21 (miR‑21) on the proliferation and differentiation of rat primary neural stem cells (NSCs) in vitro. miR‑21 was overexpressed in NSCs by transfection with a miR‑21 mimic. The effects of miR‑21 overexpression on NSC proliferation were revealed by Cell Counting kit 8 and 5‑ethynyl‑2'‑deoxyuridine incorporation assay, and miR‑21 overexpression was revealed to increase NSC proliferation. miR‑21 overexpression was confirmed using reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‑qPCR). mRNA and protein expression levels of key molecules (β‑catenin, cyclin D1, p21 and miR‑21) in the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway were studied by RT‑qPCR and western blot analysis. RT‑qPCR and western blot analyses revealed that miR‑21 overexpression increased β‑catenin and cyclin D1 expression, and decreased p21 expression. These results suggested that miR‑21‑induced increase in proliferation was mediated by activation of the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway, since overexpression of miR‑21 increased β‑catenin and cyclin D1 expression and reduced p21 expression. Furthermore, inhibition of the Wnt/β‑catenin pathway with FH535 attenuated the influence of miR‑21 overexpression on NSC proliferation, indicating that the factors activated by miR‑21 overexpression were inhibited by FH535 treatment. Furthermore, overexpression of miR‑21 enhanced the differentiation of NSCs into neurons and inhibited their differentiation into astrocytes. The present study indicated that in primary rat NSCs, overexpression of miR‑21 may promote proliferation and differentiation into neurons via the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway in vitro.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the exposure level and the geographical distribution trend of toxicological indicators of rural drinking water in Shandong Province. Methods: The drawing method was used to randomly select no less than 60% villages and towns from 137 counties (cities, districts) of 17 cities in Shandong Province in 2015, and then 1-3 rural centralized water supply units were selected according to the circumstance of rural centralized water supply units in each village and town. In total, 735 villages and towns, 1 473 rural centralized water supply units were selected, and 1 473 water samples were collected. The water treatment process, water supply population and other circumstances of the rural centralized water supply units were investigated, the water quality was monitored, the content of toxicological indicators of drinking water in different areas was compared, and the trend surface isogram of excessive toxicological indicators was drawn. Results: The qualified rate of toxicological indicators in 1 473 water samples was 83.64% (n=1 232). The main toxicological indicators that affected the qualified rate of toxicological indicators of drinking water in rural areas in Shandong Province were nitrate and fluoride. The excessive rate of fluoride was 5.70% (n=84) and the exposed population was 1 736 709 (4.22%). The excessive rate of nitrate (as nitrogen) was 12.29% (n=181) and the exposed population was 1 393 612 (3.39%). The P(5)0 content of fluoride in the eastern, middle and western regions was 0.24, 0.29 and 0.59 mg/L, respective;which was higher in the western region than in the east and the middle regions (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the eastern and the middle regions (P>0.05). The P(50) content of nitrate (as nitrogen) in the eastern, middle and western regions was 8.00, 7.48, and 2.00 mg/L, which was higher in the eastern and middle regions than in the west region (P<0.05), there was no significant difference between the eastern and the middle regions (P>0.05). The trend surface isogram of nitrate and fluoride content showed that the content of nitrate (as nitrogen) in rural drinking water in the eastern region was significantly higher than that in the western region, especially there was a high peak area in the northeastern region, and this high content distribution extended diagonally to the central region, while the other regions were in a relatively low range. The content of fluoride in rural drinking water in the western region was significantly higher than that in the eastern region, and there were high peaks in the southwest and northwest regions, and the other regions were in a relatively low range. Conclusion: The high exposed toxicological indicators in rural drinking water in Shandong Province were nitrate (as nitrogen) and fluoride, and their distribution showed obvious geographical distribution trend.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the dominant pathogens of febrile respiratory syndrome (FRS) patients in Gansu province and to establish the Bayes discriminant function in order to identify the patients infected with the dominant pathogens. Methods: FRS patients were collected in various sentinel hospitals of Gansu province from 2009 to 2015 and the dominant pathogens were determined by describing the composition of pathogenic profile. Significant clinical variables were selected by stepwise discriminant analysis to establish the Bayes discriminant function. Results: In the detection of pathogens for FRS, both influenza virus and rhinovirus showed higher positive rates than those caused by other viruses (13.79%, 8.63%), that accounting for 54.38%, 13.73% of total viral positive patients. Most frequently detected bacteria would include Streptococcus pneumoniae, and haemophilus influenza (44.41%, 18.07%) that accounting for 66.21% and 24.55% among the bacterial positive patients. The original-validated rate of discriminant function, established by 11 clinical variables, was 73.1%, with the cross-validated rate as 70.6%. Conclusion: Influenza virus, Rhinovirus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae were the dominant pathogens of FRS in Gansu province. Results from the Bayes discriminant analysis showed both higher accuracy in the classification of dominant pathogens, and applicative value for FRS.

Abstract
The molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the anti-proliferative effects of preoptic regulator factor 2 (Porf-2) on neural stem cells (NSCs) remain largely unknown. Here, we found that Porf-2 inhibits the activity of ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) protein in hippocampus-derived rat NSCs. Reduced Rac1 activity impaired the nuclear translocation of β-catenin, ultimately causing a repression of NSCs proliferation. Porf-2 knockdown enhanced NSCs proliferation but not in the presence of small molecule inhibitors of Rac1 or Wnt. At the same time, the repression of NSCs proliferation caused by Porf-2 overexpression was counteracted by small molecule activators of Rac1 or Wnt. By using a rat optic nerve crush model, we observed that Porf-2 knockdown enhanced the recovery of visual function. In particular, optic nerve injury in rats led to increased Wnt family member 3a (Wnt3a) protein expression, which we found responsible for enhancing Porf-2 knockdown-induced NSCs proliferation. These findings suggest that Porf-2 exerts its inhibitory effect on NSCs proliferation via Rac1-Wnt/β-catenin pathway. Porf-2 may therefore represent and interesting target for optic nerve injury recovery and therapy.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy in patients who underwent endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for primary advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: Forty-five patients who underwent endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for primary advanced NPC encountered between Aug. 2007 and Sep. 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Twenty-seven patients were male (60.0%), and 18 patients were female (40.0%), the ratio of male to female was 3∶2. The median age was 53 years old (ranged from 13 to 75 years old). The median onset time was 5 months (ranged from 1 to 72 months). TNM stage: 16 cases were at stage Ⅲ (35.6%), 29 at stage Ⅳ (64.4%); T3 16 cases (35.6%), T4 29 cases (64.4%); N0 38 cases (84.4%), N2 7 cases (15.6%). No patients were found to have distance metastasis. All patients underwent endoscopic resection of lesions. Postoperatively all the patients were treated with radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. Using SPSS 19.0 software, Kaplan-Meier and Log-rank test were done for the assessmen of survival rate; Cox proportional hazards model was used for the univariate analysis of prognostic factors. Results: The median follow-up was 36 months (ranged from 6 to 97 months), with 36 cases surviving (80.0%), 9 cases died (20.0%); 15 cases relapsed (33.3%). The overall 1 year survival rates (SR), 3 year SR, 5 year SR was 90.6%, 81.0%, 76.0%, respectively. The survival univariate analysis indicated the recurrence and metastasis were correlated with the survival (χ(2) value was 16.644, 6.451, respectively, all P<0.05). Conclusion: The patients who undergo endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for primary advanced NPC have better survival rate with lower recurrent rate and metastatic rate.

Abstract
Neural stem cell (NSC) proliferation and differentiation play a pivotal role in the development of brain, the plasticity of the brain network, and the repair for brain function in CNS diseases. The mechanisms regulating NSC behavior are not well elucidated. Previous studies showed porf-2 functions as a modulator in central nerve system development. We here show that porf-2, a conserved family of RhoGAPs, is highly and specifically expressed in NSCs. We also demonstrate that porf-2 inhibits the proliferation of NSCs in vivo and in vitro, but has no effect on NSC differentiation. We investigated which domain is required for the role of porf-2 on NSC proliferation. By using neurosphere formation and Edu assay we confirmed the GAP domain is necessary for its function. In addition, we surveyed a few classical pathways on NSC proliferation and found that porf-2 inhibits NSC proliferation by suppressing the β-catenin nuclear translocation. Taken together, we show for the first time that porf-2 inhibits NSC proliferation through Wnt/β-catenin pathway by its GAP domain.

Abstract
Stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) plays an important role after injury. However, little is known regarding its temporal and spatial expression patterns or how it interacts with glial cells after optic nerve crush injury. We characterized the temporal and spatial expression pattern of SDF-1α in the retina and optic nerve following optic nerve crush and demonstrated that SDF-1α is localized to the glial cells that are distributed in the retina and optic nerve. CXCR4, the receptor for SDF-1α, is expressed along the ganglion cell layer (GCL). The relative expression levels of Sdf-1α mRNA and SDF-1α protein in the retina and optic nerve 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 14 days after injury were determined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively, and the Cxcr4 mRNA expression was determined using real-time PCR. Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemical approaches were used to detect the localization of SDF-1α and CXCR4 after injury. The upregulation of Sdf-1α and Cxcr4 mRNA was detected as early as day one after injury in the retina and day two in the optic nerve, the expression peaks 5-7 days after injury. The expression of Sdf-1α and Cxcr4 mRNA was maintained for at least 14 days after the optic nerve crush injury. Furthermore, SDF-1α-positive zones were distributed locally in the reactive glial cells, which suggested potential autocrine stimulation. CXCR4 was mainly expressed in the GCL, which was also adjacent to the the glial cells. These findings suggest that following optic nerve crush, the levels of endogenous SDF-1α and CXCR4 increase in the retina and optic nerve, where activated glial cells may act as a source of increased SDF-1α protein.

Abstract
In order to clarify the location of the center for synchronized milk-ejection bursts of magnocellular oxytocin neurons in the hypothalamus, the bursts of these neurons were recorded extracellularly in lactating rats with selectively-cutting lesions of the middle brain or hypothalamus. Results showed that unilateral transection of the middle midbrain above the ventral tegmentum did not block the synchronized bursts on both sides; however, the synchronized bursts disappeared after unilateral transection through the middle of the medial hypothalamus. These results suggest that the area from the middle part of the midbrain to that of the hypothalamus does play a crucial role in the synchronized milk-ejection burst.
