Abstract
PURPOSE Intraocular schwannoma is a rare tumour, which is often misdiagnosed. We presented the demographics and clinical characteristics of patients with intraocular schwannoma. METHODS Retrospective case series were collected between May 2005 and July 2021 in Beijing Tongren Hospital. RESULTS A total of 28 patients were diagnosed with intraocular schwannoma on histopathological examination of surgical specimen. The median age was 39 years (range: 12-64). Fourteen patients were female and 14 were male. Among the all subjects, 21/28 patients (75.0%) presented as visual loss, and 3/28 patients (10.7%) had visual field loss. Intraocular schwannoma presented as nonpigmented mass in the ciliary body in 12/28 cases (42.9%), in the choroid in 9/28 cases (32.1%), and in ciliochoroid in 7/28 cases (25.0%). Intraocular schwannoma was often clinically misdiagnosed as uveal melanoma, which occurred in 16/28 patients (57.1%). Tumour excision with pars plana vitrectomy was performed for all included patients. Endoresection with lens removal was performed for tumours in the choroid, while transscleral resection was performed for tumours located in ciliary body or ciliochoroid. Increased light transmission was detected in 12/28 cases (42.9%). In the consecutive follow-up (median: 73 months, range: 7-193 months), no cases of recurrence or metastatic disease were detected. CONCLUSIONS Intraocular schwannoma is a rare benign tumour. It usually presents as nonpigmented mass, which can easily be misdiagnosed as nonpigmented uveal melanoma.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) on HER2-positive breast cancer and to analyze their clinicopathological features. Methods: A total of 480 cases of HER2-positive breast cancer who received neoadjuvant therapy (NAT), diagnosed at the Department of Pathology of Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from 2015 to 2020, were retrospectively identified. Clinicopathological parameters such as age, tumor size, molecular subtype, type of targeted therapy, Ki-67 proliferation index, ER and HER2 immunohistochemical expression, and HER2 amplification status were analyzed to correlate with the efficacy of NAT. Results: Among 480 patients with HER2-positive breast cancer, 209 achieved pathology complete response (pCR) after NAT, with a pCR rate of 43.5%. Of all the cases,457 patients received chemotherapy plus trastuzumab and 23 patients received chemotherapy with trastuzumab and pertuzumab. A total of 198 cases (43.3%) achieved pCR in patients with chemotherapy plus trastuzumab, and 11 cases (47.8%) achieved pCR in patients with chemotherapy plus trastuzumab and pertuzumab. The pCR rate in the latter group was higher, but there was no statistical significance. The results showed that the pCR rate of IHC-HER2 3+patients (49%) was significantly higher than that of IHC-HER2 2+patients (26.1%, P<0.001). The higher the mean HER2 copy number in the FISH assay, the higher the pCR rate was achieved. The expression level of ER was inversely correlated with the efficacy of NAT, and the pCR rate in the ER-positive group (28.2%) was significantly lower than that in the ER-negative group (55.8%, P<0.001). The pCR rate (29.1%) of patients with luminal B type was lower than that of HER2 overexpression type (55.8%, P<0.001). In addition, higher Ki-67 proliferation index was associated with higher pCR rate (P<0.001). The pCR rate was the highest in the tumor ≤2 cm group (57.7%), while the pCR rate in the tumor >5 cm group was the lowest (31.1%). The difference between the groups was significant (P=0.005). Conclusions: HER2 copy numbers, HER2 immunohistochemical expression level, molecular subtype, ER expression level and Ki-67 proliferation index are significantly associated with pCR after NAT. In addition, fluorescence in situ hybridization results, HER2/CEP17 ratio and tumor size could also significantly affect the efficacy of NAT.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the characteristics of orthokeratology lenses designed for small correction zones and their effectiveness and safety in long-term prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents. Methods: It was a prospective cohort study that included myopic children and adolescents who received corneal reshaping treatment at the Qingdao Eye Hospital of Shandong First Medical University between January 2019 and May 2020. The patients were randomly divided into two groups using computer-generated randomization, and were fitted with corneal reshaping lenses with small treatment zones and conventional designs, respectively. The uncorrected visual acuity, best-corrected visual acuity, refractive error, and axial length were measured before and after 6, 12, and 18 months of wearing the lenses. Corneal topography with the Pentacam was also performed, and the area and diameter of the corneal treatment zone were calculated using the Matlab software. Results: A total of 60 myopic patients (60 eyes) were enrolled, including 29 males and 31 females, with an age of (10.40±1.01) years and a spherical equivalent of (-2.88±0.42) D. There were 30 cases in the small correction zone group and 30 cases in the conventional group. There was no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity and spherical equivalent between the two groups at each time point after treatment. The axial growth in the conventional group was (0.16±0.09) mm at 6 months after treatment, (0.28±0.17) mm at 12 months, and (0.37±0.20) mm at 18 months, whereas in the small treatment zone group it was (0.06±0.05) mm, (0.12±0.10) mm, and (0.18±0.14) mm, respectively. The myopia progression rate in the small treatment zone group was only 37.50%, 42.86%, and 48.64% of the conventional group at 6, 12, and 18 months, respectively. Corneal topography showed that the treatment area in the conventional group was (6.98±0.89) mm², while in the small treatment zone group it decreased by 23.2% [(5.36±0.73) mm²] (P<0.05). Correlation analysis revealed that the axial increase after 18 months of lens wearing was negatively correlated with the age before lens wearing (P<0.05), positively correlated with the corneal surface treatment zone size (P<0.05), and not correlated with the pupil diameter and spherical equivalent (all P>0.05). After the shaping treatment, the rate of adverse reaction, which was mild, in both groups was 10%, and the symptoms disappeared. Conclusion: Orthokeratology lenses with smaller treatment zones can significantly reduce the rate of axial length growth in children and adolescents compared to lenses with conventional treatment zones, without compromising treatment safety.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the ultrasonographic features of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) adenoma. Methods: It was a retrospective case series study. The clinical clata of 15 patients (15 eyes) with pathologically confirmed RPE adenoma after local resection of intraocular tumor was collected at Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University from November 2013 to October 2019. The general conditions of the patients and the location, size, shape, internal echo features of the lesions in the ocular ultrasound sonogram were analyzed, and the blood flow in the lesions was checked by color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI). Results: Of all the patients included in the study, 7 were male and 8 were female. Their age ranged from 25 to 58 years, with a mean age of (45.7±10.2) years. The most common symptom was vision loss or blurred vision (11 cases). Other symptoms included dark shadows or obscuration in front of the eyes (3 cases) and no symptoms (1 case). A history of previous ocular trauma was present in one case, and the rest of the patients had no history of ocular trauma. The location of tumor growth is scattered. The ultrasonographic features were as follows: the average maximum basal diameter was (8.07±2.75) mm and the average height was (4.02±1.81) mm; the ultrasonographic features mostly demonstrated abruptly elevated dome-shaped echo (6 cases); the lesion edge was not smooth, the internal echo was medium or low, and there could be hollow features (2 cases), with no choroidal depression; and the blood flow signal could be seen in the CDFI lesion, which could lead to retinal detachment and vitreous opacification. Conclusion: The ultrasound imaging features of RPE adenomas mostly demonstrate abruptly elevated dome-shaped echo, unsmooth lesion edge, with no choroidal depression, which may provide valuable evidence for clinical diagnosis and differentiation.

Hepatitis B Virus Surface Antigen Promotes Stemness of Hepatocellular Carcinoma through Regulating MicroRNA-203a. J Clin Transl Hepatol 2023; 11:118-129. [PMID: 36406317 PMCID: PMC9647105 DOI: 10.14218/jcth.2021.00373] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/27/2021] [Revised: 11/26/2021] [Accepted: 03/21/2022] [Indexed: 12/04/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Patients with persistent positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), even with a low HBV-DNA load, have a higher risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) than those without HBV infection. Given that tumor stemness has a critical role in the occurrence and maintenance of neoplasms, this study aimed to explore whether HBsAg affects biological function and stemness of HCC by regulating microRNA, and to explore underlying mechanisms. METHODS We screened out miR-203a, the most significant down-regulated microRNA in the microarray analysis of HBsAg-positive samples and focused on that miRNA in the ensuing study. In vitro and in vivo functional experiments were performed to assess its regulatory function. The effect of miR-203a on stemness and the possible correlation with BMI1 were analyzed in this study. RESULTS MiR-203a was significantly down-regulated in HBsAg-positive HCC with the sharpest decrease shown in microarray analysis. The negative correlation between miR-203a and HBsAg expression was confirmed by quantitative real-time PCR after stimulation or overexpression/knockdown of HBsAg in cells. We demonstrated the function of miR-203a in inhibiting HCC cell proliferation, migration, clonogenic capacity, and tumor development in vivo. Furthermore, the overexpression of miR-203a remarkably increases the sensitivity of tumor cells to 5-FU treatment and decreases the proportion of HCC cells with stem markers. In concordance with our study, the survival analysis of both The Cancer Genome Atlas database and samples in our center indicated a worse prognosis in patients with low level of miR-203a. We also found that BMI1, a gene maintains the self-renewal capacity of stem cells, showed a significant negative correlation with miR-203a in HCC specimen (p<0.001). Similarly, opposite BMI1 changes after overexpression/knockdown of miR-203a were also confirmed in vitro. Dual luciferase reporting assay suggested that miR-203a may regulate BMI1 expression by direct binding. CONCLUSIONS HBsAg may promote the development of HCC and tumor stemness by inhibiting miR-203a, resulting in poor prognosis. miR-203a may serve as a crucial treatment target in HBsAg-positive HCC. More explicit mechanistic studies and animal experiments need to be conducted as a next step.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum autocrine motor factor (Autotaxin) level and pulmonary ultrasound score (LUS) and the disease severity and 28-day mortality of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Methods: Totally 142 ARDS patients admitted to Danzhou People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected, and serum Autotaxin level and LUS score of ARDS patients on the day of onset were detected. According to the survival within 28 days after entering the intensive care unit, ARDS patients were divided into survival group (86 cases) and death group (56 cases). According to the oxygenation index, ARDS patients were divided into mild group (200 mmHg<oxygenation index≤300 mmHg, 36 cases), moderate group (100 mmHg<oxygenation index≤200 mmHg, 61 cases) and severe group (oxygenation index≤100 mmHg, 45 cases). The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was performed to analyze the value of serum autotaxin level and LUS score to predict the death of patients with ARDS. Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw the survival curve, and Log-rank test was used for comparison between groups. Cox multivariate regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of death in patients with ARDS. Results: The LUS score [(26.50±5.20 vs 13.45±3.70, t=11.974,P<0.01] and serum Autotaxin level [(54.83±16.28)μg/L vs (32.70±11.85) μg/L,t=13.842,P<0.01] in the death group were significantly higher than those in the survival group, the difference is statistically significant. The serum autotaxin level and LUS score in severe group were significantly higher than those in mild group and moderate group (all were P<0.001). ROC curve showed that the combino ation of autotaxin and LUS score had the largest AUC to predict the AUC of death in patients with ARDS (0.904, 95CI:0.847-0.962), with the highest accuracy of 88.2%. Survival curve analysis showed that the survival rate of high autotaxin group was significantly lower than that of low autotaxin group (44.1% vs 75.7%,P<0.001), and the survival rate of high LUS score group was significantly lower than that of low LUS score group (49.4% vs 73.8%,P=0.003). Cox multivariate regression analysis showed that elevated LUS score (HR=1.983, 95%CI: 1.402-4.715,P<0.001) and Autotaxin level (HR=2.604, 95%CI: 1.853-6.317,P<0.001) were risk factors for death in patients with ARDS (P<0.05). Conclusion: The increase of serum autotaxin level and LUS score is related to the severity and death of patients with ARDS, which are risk factors for 28-day death in ARDS patients, and can be used as a reference mdicator to predict death in ARDS patients.

Abstract
Objective: To measure and analyze parameters of the three-dimensional (3D) model of the condylar movement envelope surface (ES) and provide a reference for the design of the temporomandibular prosthesis. Methods: Thirty-four healthy adults aged (25.4±2.8) years were recruited from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology as subjects. There were 9 males and 25 females, most of them were university students and others outside the university have received undergraduate education or above. Condylar movement ES were obtained using the previous method on the 3D trajectory of condyle. The simulations of condylar movement were projected according to opening movements, protrusion movements, and lateral movements respectively. The total area of the ES and the area proportions of models formed by above different mandibular movements were measured and calculated. The adults' head and maxillofacial 3D models reconstructed by cone beam CT were registered with ES in Geomagic Studio. The inner and outer poles of the condyle, the corrective sagittal axis of the ES, and the median sagittal plane (MSP) were calibrated in registration models using Geomagic Studio, and the parameters were measured as follows: the anteroposterior and medialateral diameters of the condyle, the anteroposterior diameters and the transverse diameters (anterior, middle and posterior parts) of the ES, the angles between the corrective sagittal axis of the ES and MSP (ES-MSP). Pearson correlation analysis was performed by SPSS 24.0. Results: The total area of the ES was (760±133) mm2, the opening movement part accounted for (63.3±15.2)%, the protrusion movement part accounted for (14.9±9.6)%, the lateral movement part accounted for (21.8±13.3)%. Parameter measurements were as follows: mediolateral diameters of condyle was (19.8±2.3) mm; anteroposterior diameter of the ES was (21.2±3.1) mm, the transverse diameters (anterior, middle and posterior parts) of the ES were (20.6±2.4), (20.4±2.4), (22.0±2.6) mm, respectively; the transverse diameters of the ES were about 2 mm larger than that of the condyle. The angle between the corrective sagittal axis of ES and the MSP was 6.8°±6.2°. The coefficient of variation (CV) in these parameters showed: CV of the transverse diameters (anterior, middle and posterior parts) of the ES and mediolateral diameter of the condyle were 0.98, 0.99, 0.93, respectively (P<0.001). CV of aera of ES and mediolateral diameter of the condyle was 0.64 (P=0.002). CV of aera of ES and anteroposterior diameter of ES was 0.62 (P=0.004). Conclusions: The 3D envelope surface model formed by mandibular opening movements accounted for the largest proportion of the ES. The corrective sagittal axis of the ES was at an angle to the MSP, the transverse diameters (anterior, middle and posterior parts) of the ES were approximately 2 mm larger than the mediolateral diameter of the condyle, the transverse diameters (anterior, middle and posterior parts) of the ES were highly positively correlated with the mediolateral diameter of the condyle.

Rare giant corneal keloid presenting 26 years after trauma: A case report. World J Clin Cases 2022; 10:9776-9782. [PMID: 36186176 PMCID: PMC9516904 DOI: 10.12998/wjcc.v10.i27.9776] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/10/2022] [Revised: 04/22/2022] [Accepted: 07/25/2022] [Indexed: 02/05/2023] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND Corneal keloid is a rare clinical disease with an unknown etiology, which is easily misdiagnosed. Surgery is the most effective treatment but is rarely reported in the literature. Herein, we report the clinical features, histopathology, and surgical outcome of a giant corneal keloid with trophoblastic vessels and discuss the genesis of the mass.
CASE SUMMARY A 36-year-old young man was admitted to the hospital because of a large mass on the surface of the left cornea. The patient had suffered an injury to his left eye at the age of 6-years-old; however, as the injury did not cause cornea perforation, he did not undergo treatment. Slit lamp exam showed a large, elevated, opaque lesion that covered the entire cornea and protruded from the surface of the eyeball. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) revealed a lesion of irregular density involving the anterior stroma. We suspected a secondary corneal fibroproliferative mass based on the clinical history, and slit lamp and AS-OCT findings. The patient subsequently underwent a superficial keratectomy and keratoplasty, and the final diagnosis of corneal keloid was confirmed by intraoperative histopathological examination.
CONCLUSION Non-penetrating corneal trauma damages corneal epithelium basement membrane, initiating stromal fibrosis and causing corneal keloids. AS-OCT and biopsy confirm diagnosis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the dynamic characteristics of brain spontaneous activity in betel quid dependence (BQD) chewers and its relationship with clinical indexes. Method: This study was conducted in Hainan General Hospital from April to December 2019 and the data of 53 BQD chewers (37 males and 16 females, aged 20 to 58(38±11) years) and 37 healthy controls (HC) (24 males and 13 females, aged 23-57(42±12) years) were collected. All these subjects underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scan. The dynamic characteristics of resting fMRI indexes, including dynamic amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo) and degree centrality (DC) of these subjects were calculated using the sliding time window method, parameters such as age and dynamic local consistency were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship between dynamic indexes, betel quid dependence score (BQDS) and disease duration in BQD group. Results: BQD chewers showed decreased dynamic ALFF in the left orbital prefrontal cortex (0.138±0.041 vs 0.171±0.070), the right temporal pole superior temporal gyrus (0.277±0.070 vs 0.319±0.086) and the right inferior parietal lobule (0.223±0.052 vs 0.259±0.088) than HC (all P<0.05). For regional homogeneity, BQD chewers showed a decrease dynamic ReHo in the right inferior temporal gyrus (0.055±0.008 vs 0.061±0.009), the orbital prefrontal cortex (0.058±0.005 vs 0.063±0.008), the right inferior frontal gyrus (0.081±0.006 vs 0.087±0.011), the right superior occipital gyrus (0.056±0.007 vs 0.062±0.008), the left precentral gyrus (0.068±0.008 vs 0.074±0.008), and the left superior frontal gyrus (0.058±0.008 vs 0.064±0.009) than HC (all P<0.05). BQD chewers showed an increase dynamic ReHo in the right precuneus (0.095±0.009 vs 0.089±0.008) (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in DC between the two groups (all P>0.05). The relationships between three dynamic ALFF and BQDS (r=-0.104, -0.015, -0.119), seven dynamic ReHo and BQDS (r=-0.099, -0.141, -0.055, -0.078, -0.027, -0.111, -0.090), three dynamic ALFF and disease duration (r=-0.122, -0.095, -0.171), and seven dynamic ReHo and disease duration (r=0.242, -0.252, 0.035, 0.056, 0.047, 0.081, 0.169) were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). Conclusions: BQD chewers showed a decrease dynamic ReHo and/or ALFF in multiple brain regions dominated by prefrontal cortex, and an increase dynamic ReHo in the right precuneus.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the characteristics of vocal fold vibration of normal people and patients with spasmodic dysphonia (SD) using laryngeal high speed videoendoscopy combined with glottal area wave analysis. Methods: This prospective study examined twenty healthy subjects (10 males and 10 females), 12 patients with adductor spasmodic dysphonia(AdSD) (2 males,10 females)as AdSD group and 2 patients with abductor spasmodic dysphonia(AbSD) (2 males) as AbSD group. Twelve of healthy subjects (2 males,10 females) were selected as control group according to AdSD group gender match. All the subjects were recruited from the Department of Voice, Zhongshan Hospital, Xiamen University from October 2019 to December 2020. All subjects underwent laryngeal high speed videoendoscopy and 10 vibration periods were selected from each recording and were used to quantitatively analyze the change of glottal area and vocal fold vibration parameters (Speed Quotient (SQ), Open Quotient (OQ) and Close Quotient (CQ)). Results: 1. There were statistically significant differences in SQ, CQ and OQ between males and females in the healthy subjects (t=12.28, 5.59, 5.59, P<0.05). The change of the glottal area during each vibration period in healthy subjects was relatively stable(0.19-0.42). 2. The change of the glottal area during each vibration period in AdSD subjects had larger fluctuations, with the glottal area change index fluctuating in the range of 0.31 to 0.62. The SQ value of the AdSD group was significantly lower than that of control group (t=4.246, P<0.05). There were no significant differences in OQ and CQ between AdSD group and normal group (t=1.064, 1.332, P>0.05); The SQ value of the AbSD group tended to increase compared to normal group. Conclusions: Laryngeal high speed videoendoscopy combined with glottal area wave analysis has a certain reference value in the studying the vibration characteristics of SD patients. SQ has good specificity.

Effects of kisspeptin-10 on the reproductive performance of sows in a fixed-time artificial insemination programme. Animal 2022; 16:100509. [PMID: 35436648 DOI: 10.1016/j.animal.2022.100509] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/08/2021] [Revised: 03/08/2022] [Accepted: 03/10/2022] [Indexed: 11/27/2022] Open
Abstract
Kisspeptin (KP) is a major positive regulator of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis and affects female reproductive cyclicity in mammals. It offers an attractive alternative strategy to control reproduction in fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) protocols. We aimed to evaluate the effects of different doses of kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) on sow reproductive performance in FTAI protocols. One hundred ninety-eight weaned sows were divided into three groups at random. A FTAI-GnRH group of sows (n = 98) received 100 µg (2 mL) gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH; gonadorelin) by intramuscular injection at 96 h after weaning (t = 0 h); FTAI-KPL (KPL: low-dose KP-10, n = 50), and FTAI-KPH groups of sows (KPH: high-dose KP-10, n = 50) received 0.5 or 1 mg KP-10 (2 mL) respectively at 96 h after weaning. Sows were checked twice daily for oestrus. Ultrasonographic evaluations were performed to determine the follicular diameter and time of ovulation; blood samples were collected immediately before injection (t0 = 0 min) and at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 min, 24 and 48 h postinjection. Sows were inseminated at 112 and 132 h after weaning. The oestrus rates (96 vs 92%; 96 vs 88%) and weaning-to-oestrus intervals (98.9 vs 98.6 h; 98.9 vs 97.1 h) were not affected by treatment, but oestrus in the FTAI-KPL group was significantly longer than in the FTAI-GnRH group (38.7 vs 30.0 h; P < 0.05). The peak LH concentrations were 1.29 times greater than at t0 = 0 in the FTAI-GnRH group, and 1.45 and 1.44 times greater than at t0 = 0 in the FTAI-KPL and FTAI-KPH groups, respectively. Follicular diameters and pregnancy rates (86 vs 88%, 86 vs 80%, respectively) did not differ between the treatments. Moreover, the total numbers of piglets born and those born alive did not differ among the three groups. These findings suggested that 0.5 mg KP-10 given at 96 h after weaning could be used in FTAI programmes to manage batch farrowing in sows.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze and compare the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Jiaozuo City before and after malaria elimination, so as to provide insights into the malaria surveillance during the post-elimination stage and prevention of re-establishment of imported malaria. METHODS Data pertaining to the epidemic situation and individual investigation of malaria in Jiaozuo City before (from 2010 to 2016) and after malaria elimination (from 2017 to November, 2020) were captured from the National Notifiable Disease Reporting System and the Information System for Parasitic Diseases Control and Prevention of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and were analyzed statistically. RESULTS A total of 74 imported malaria cases were reported in Jiaozuo City from 2010 to 2021. Imported cases were predominantly Plasmodium falciparum malaria cases in Jiaozuo City before and after malaria elimination, and there was no significant difference in the proportion of malaria parasite species (χ2 = 0.234, P > 0.05). The imported malaria cases was predominantly reported in Wuzhi County, and was identified in overseas male farmers and businessmen at ages of 20 to 59 years, while the greatest number of imported malaria cases was reported in June and December before and after malaria elimination. The imported malaria cases predominantly acquired malaria parasite infections in sub-Saharan African countries; however, the proportion of imported malaria cases returning from Southeast Asian counties increased after malaria elimination than before malaria elimination (χ2 = 5.989, P < 0.05). The longest duration from onset to definitive diagnosis of malaria reduced from 27 days before malaria elimination to 18 days after malaria elimination, and the median duration reduced from 3 days to 2 days, while the proportion of definitive diagnosis of malaria increased from 60.47% before malaria elimination to 83.87% after malaria elimination (χ2 = 4.724, P < 0.05). In addition, the proportion of malaria cases definitively diagnosed and reported by medical institutions increased after malaria elimination than before malaria elimination (χ2 = 5.406, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The imported malaria patients were predominantly P. falciparum malaria cases in Jiaozuo City during 2010 to 2021, and the patient's medical care-seeking awareness and medical staff's diagnosis and treatment ability have improved after malaria elimination. It is necessary to strengthen and improve malaria surveillance and response system and prevent the re-establishment of overseas imported malaria.

Sympathetic Neurostress Drives Osteoblastic Exosomal MiR-21 Transfer to Disrupt Bone Homeostasis and Promote Osteopenia. SMALL METHODS 2022; 6:e2100763. Abstract
Innervation and extracellular vesicle secretion co-exist in the local tissue microenvironment for message transfer, but whether they are interconnected to regulate organ homeostasis remains unknown. Sympatho-adrenergic activation is implicated in stress-induced depression and leads to bone loss, but the mechanisms and therapeutics are incompletely elucidated. Here, it is revealed that sympathetic neurostress through the β1/2 -adrenergic receptor (β1/2-AR) signaling triggers the transcription response of a microRNA, miR-21, in osteoblasts, which is transferred to osteoclast progenitors via exosomes for dictating osteoclastogenesis. After confirming that miR-21 deficiency retards the β1/2-AR agonist isoproterenol (ISO)-induced osteopenia, it is shown that the pharmacological inhibition of exosome release by two clinically-relevant drugs, dimethyl amiloride and omeprazole, suppresses osteoblastic miR-21 transfer and ameliorates bone loss under both ISO and chronic variable stress (CVS)-induced depression conditions. A targeted delivery approach to specifically silence osteoblastic miR-21 is further applied, which is effective in rescuing the bone remodeling balance and ameliorating ISO- and CVS-induced osteopenias. These results decipher a previously unrecognized paradigm that neural cues drive exosomal microRNA communication to regulate organ homeostasis and help to establish feasible strategies to counteract bone loss under psychological stresses.

Immune Checkpoint FGL1 Expression of Circulating Tumor Cells Is Associated With Poor Survival in Curatively Resected Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Front Oncol 2022; 12:810269. [PMID: 35273912 PMCID: PMC8901582 DOI: 10.3389/fonc.2022.810269] [Citation(s) in RCA: 3] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/06/2021] [Accepted: 01/19/2022] [Indexed: 12/12/2022] Open
Abstract
LAG-3 is one of the common tumor immune checkpoints. LAG-3 can inhibit the activation and proliferation of T cells, and can also suppress immunity by regulating other immune-related cell functions. FGL1 was recently discovered to be the main ligand of immune checkpoint LAG-3 and play a critical role in the inhibition of T cells. However, the FGL1 expression in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and its clinical significance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unclear. Therefore, this bioinformatics analysis was performed to assess the expression of FGL1 in various tumors and its association with immune infiltration. After that, CTCs from 109 HCC patients were detected and the immunofluorescence staining was performed (CD45, EpCAM, CK8/18/19, Vimentin, Twist, DAPI and FGL1). Then, we investigated FGL1 expression and EMT of CTCs and analyzed its relationship with patient survival and clinical relevance. Bioinformatic results showed that FGL1 expression was abnormal in various tumor and it was correlated with the infiltration level of several immune cells. FGL1 expression was detected in CTCs of 40 patients (36.7%). The proportion of advanced TNM stage (P<0.001) and distant metastasis(P=0.020) in FGL1 positive patients was higher than that of FGL1 negative patients. In addition, patients with FGL1 positive circulating tumor cells had worse postoperative survival than FGL1 negative patients (p=0.0297). The mixed phenotypic CTC presented a higher level of FGL1 expression than any other types, the number of which also predicted worse prognosis(p=0.0443). We also found that the expression of FGL1 on CTCs was associated with the level of FGL1 in tumor tissues. Of 12 patients receiving PD-1/PD-L1 blockade in a total of 109 cases, 8 out of 10 patients with FGL1 positive CTC showed immunotherapy resistance. It is the first study that suggested FGL1 expression in CTCs as an indicator of the poor prognosis in HCC patients. CTC detection may serve as a promising replacement for determination of tumor tissue FGL1 expression and provide evidence for the application of immunotherapy.

Abstract
Timed artificial insemination (TAI) is an efficient reproductive technology in batch farrowing production that aids management in pig farms. However, the effect of TAI on the reproduction performance is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of two TAI protocols on the reproductive performance of primiparous sows. A total of 332 weaned sows were randomly allocated into three treatments. Sows assigned to Control (n = 110) were untreated and inseminated on each day in oestrus after weaning. Sows assigned to eG-TAI (n = 112) received equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) 24 h after weaning and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gonadorelin: GnRH) at oestrus, and were inseminated at 8 and 32 h later if oestrus at 0800, or 16 and 40 h later if oestrus at 1600. Sows assigned to 2e-TAI (n = 110) received eCG and GnRH 24 h and 96 h after weaning, respectively, and were inseminated 16 and 40 h after GnRH administration. Sows showing oestrus at GnRH administration or 64 h after were inseminated immediately, for a total of three inseminations. Ultrasonographic evaluations were performed to determine the follicular diameter and time of ovulation. Most sows in the 2e-TAI and eG-TAI groups ovulated 0-48 h after the GnRH injection. Our results indicated that oestrus rate within seven days after weaning in the experimental groups was higher, and weaning-to-oestrus interval was shorter than in the control group (99.3 h vs 113.5 h, P < 0.05). The breeding and farrowing rates in the experimental groups were significantly higher than in the control group (P < 0.05), while the numbers of total born, live-born and stillborn were not different among the three groups (Control: 12.7, 11.6 and 1.1; 2e-TAI: 12.4, 11.3 and 1.0; eG-TAI: 12.0, 11.4 and 0.4, respectively). These results indicated that TAI could ensure a high farrowing rate in primiparous sows under batch farrowing management.

Helicobacter pylori-induced REDD1 modulates Th17 cell responses that contribute to gastritis. Clin Sci (Lond) 2021; 135:2541-2558. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Regulated in development and DNA damage responses-1 (REDD1) is a conserved and ubiquitous protein, which is induced in response to multiple stimuli. However, the regulation, function and clinical relevance of REDD1 in Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis are presently unknown. APPROACH Immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR and Western blot analyses were performed to examine the levels of REDD1 in gastric samples from H. pylori-infected patients and mice. Gastric tissues from Redd1-/- and wildtype (WT, control) mice were examined for inflammation. Gastric epithelial cells (GECs), monocytes and T cells were isolated, stimulated and/or cultured for REDD1 regulation and functional assays. RESULTS REDD1 was increased in gastric mucosa of H. pylori-infected patients and mice. H. pylori induced GECs to express REDD1 via the phosphorylated cytotoxin associated gene A (cagA) that activated MAPKp38 pathway to mediate NF-κB directly binding to REDD1 promoter. Human gastric REDD1 increased with the severity of gastritis, and mouse REDD1 from non-marrow chimera-derived cells promoted gastric inflammation that was characterized by the influx of MHCII+ monocytes. Importantly, gastric inflammation, MHCII+ monocyte infiltration, IL-23 and IL-17A were attenuated in Redd1-/- mice. Mechanistically, REDD1 in GECs regulated CXCL1 production, which attracted MHCII+ monocytes migration by CXCL1-CXCR2 axis. Then H. pylori induced MHCII+ monocytes to secrete IL-23, which favored IL-17A-producing CD4+ cell (Th17 cell) polarization, thereby contributing to the development of H. pylori-associated gastritis. CONCLUSIONS The present study identifies a novel regulatory network involving REDD1, which collectively exert a pro-inflammatory effect within gastric microenvironment. Efforts to inhibit this REDD1-dependent pathway may prove valuable strategies in treating of H. pylori-associated gastritis.

Abstract
Objective The present study screened the structural mutations of the retinoblastoma (RB1) gene using gene capture and a preliminary exploration of the correlation between the genotypes and phenotypes. Methods A total of 45 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples and 12 peripheral venous blood samples from patients with retinoblastoma (RB) confirmed by pathological examination at Beijing Tongren Hospital were collected between May 2019 and May 2021. DNA from the samples was extracted, sequenced, and analyzed to detect the mutations in the RB1 gene by designing the targeted capture probes for exons and the flanking sequences of the gene. Results Of the 45 FFPE tissue samples, 23 were from male patients and 22 were from female patients, all aged between 4 months and 10 years, with an average age of 2.5 ± 1.3 years. Two of these patients had bilateral RB and 43 had unilateral RB (23 in the right eye and 20 in the left eye). Of the 12 peripheral venous blood samples, 7 were from male patients and 5 were from female patients, all aged between 8 months and 4 years, with an average age of 1.3 ± 0.9 years. Two of these patients had bilateral RB and 10 had unilateral RB (8 in the right eye and 2 in the left eye). Three de novo pathogenic mutations were found in the FFPE tissues, along with one de novo potentially pathogenic mutation, while three de novo potentially pathogenic mutations were found in the blood samples. Conclusion Gene capture is a low-cost and efficient method for the gene sequencing of RB. A total of seven de novo mutations were identified through mutation testing of the pathogenic gene RB1 in 56 pediatric patients with RB. This complemented the mutation spectrum of the RB1 gene and helped to improve the molecular diagnosis of RB, thereby providing a basis for genetic counseling and prediction of the clinical phenotype, as well as for the genetic testing of the offspring of patients with RB. Clinical Registration Number ChiCTR-EPC-17013892.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the physical indices and growth status of preterm children aged 0 to 4 years with different birth weight. Methods: Following the real world research approach, the current study retrospectively collected e-chart information of 8 496 preterm children from the child health care system of the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from December 2010 to December 2017, with 203 123 full-term children followed up during the same period as controls. Premature children were divided into normal birth weight (NBW) group, low birth weight (LBW) group, and very low birth weight (VLBW) group based on their birth weights. The weight and length development within 48 months of age of preterm boys and girls in each group were measured and recorded to establish a numerical table and analyze the growth levels, growth rate, and proportionality. The t-test or chi-square test was used for between-group comparison. Results: Of the 8 496 preterm children, 4 839 were girls and 3 657 boys, including 525 in the VLBW group, with an average birth weight of (1.28±0.14) kg, 3 862 in the LBW group, with an average birth weight of (2.07±0.28) kg, and 4 109 in the NBW group, with an average birth weight of (2.86±0.35) kg. The weight at the actual age of 2-<3 months ((5.61±0.96) vs. (5.64±0.78) kg in boys, (5.11±0.67) vs. (5.18±0.71) kg in girls) and the length at the actual age of 8-<10 months ((70.3±2.4) vs. (70.6±2.4) cm in boys, (68.9±2.2) vs. (68.9±2.4) cm in girls) in the NBW group reached the average weight and length of full-term children. The difference of physical growth before 24 months of age between LBW and control group decreased as children age, with that of LBW group approaches the average of full-term children after 24 months of age, with a weight difference of 0.64-0.95 kg and height difference of 1.3-1.7 cm. The weight and height of the VLBW group were lower than those of full-term infants (2.80-2.86 kg and 3.3-4.3 cm, respectively) at 48 months of age. During 2-12 months of age, the corresponding values of the VLBW group were higher than that of the LBW and NBW groups by 0.35 kg and 0.71 kg, respectively. However, the corresponding values of the VLBW group were lower than that of the LBW and NBW groups(0.64 kg and 0.76 kg at 0-2 months of age, 1.04 kg and 1.49 kg at 12-48 months of age, respectively). The rates of delayed development, underweight, and emaciation were the highest in the VLBW group (all P<0.01), while the rates of overweight and obesity were the highest in the NBW group, with that of the VLBW group being lower than LBW group (P<0.01) at the age of 24-<36 months. Conclusions: Prior to 4 years of age, the time for preterm children to reach the average physical indices of full-term children differ by birth weights, hence warranting further examination of the corrected gestational age for preterm children. Normal birth weight preterm children present with the highest incidence of overweight and obesity and very low birth weight preterm children present with the highest incidence of growth disorders, marking both groups at high risks of malnutrition.

Abstract
As an important indicator of sexual maturity of hens, age at first egg (AFE) is significantly associated with reproduction performance. In this study, 400 hens were divided into 6 groups based on AFE to analyze the difference of reproduction performance, reproduction hormone levels and the characterization of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis in chickens. The results showed that the egg production of the hens in the late-maturing groups was significantly lower than that of the ones in other groups and the precocious hens had a lower egg production rate. The hens in late-maturing group had a lower fertility rate, LH levels and shorter duration of peak of egg production (PEP), the precocious hens had lower PRL levels. In addition, the characterization of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis showed that the individuals with normal AFE had higher GNRH, GNRHR, ESR1, KITLG, and CYP11A1 expression levels than late-maturing and precocious individuals, which indicated that the chickens with normal AFE advantages on reproduction regulation system.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) reside in the perivascular niche and modulate tissue/organ homeostasis; however, little is known about whether and how their localization and function are linked. Particularly, whether specific MSC subsets couple with and regulate specialized vessel subtypes is unclear. Here, we show that Gli1+ cells, which are a subpopulation of MSCs couple with and regulate a specialized form of vasculature. The specific capillaries, i.e., CD31hiEMCNhi type H vessels, are the preferable vascular subtype which Gli1+ cells are adjacent to in bone. Gli1+ cells are further identified to be phenotypically coupled with type H endothelium during bone growth and defect healing. Importantly, Gli1+ cell ablation inhibits type H vessel formation associated with suppressed bone generation and regeneration. Mechanistically, Gli1+ cells initiate angiogenesis through Gli and HIF-1α signaling. These findings suggest a morphological and functional framework of Gli1+ cells modulating coupled type H vasculature for tissue homeostasis and regenerative repair.

Abstract
Background To analyze the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis of children with unilateral retinoblastoma (RB) and intracranial segment of retrobulbar optic nerve invasion. Methods A total of 14 children with unilateral RB and intracranial segment of retrobulbar optic nerve invasion were enrolled in this retrospective study from January 2009 to December 2018. Clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis were collected and analyzed. Survival curves were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method. Results Of 14 cases, there were 7 male and 7 female, ranging in age from 22.85 to 121.97 months (median, 41.03 months). Seventy-one percent of patients came from first-tier cities in China and effected in the left eye. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results indicated that all patients presented with thickened and enhanced optic nerve and intracranial segment of optic nerve invasion. Nine patients received comprehensive therapeutic regimen (chemotherapy, eye enucleation, radiotherapy and intrathecal therapy). The patients were followed up to December 2019, with a median follow-up of 20.6 months. The median disease specific survival was 48.99 ± 8.62 months, and the overall survival (OS) rate was 64.3%. Radiotherapy and comprehensive therapeutic regimen had significant impact on survival time (all p < 0.05). Conclusions The overall prognosis of unilateral RB patients with intracranial segment of retrobulbar optic nerve invasion was poor. Chemotherapy and surgical treatment were necessary, but more attention should be paid to radiotherapy and intrathecal therapy for improving prognosis.

Methods: Non-duplicated nosocomial cases as well as pathogens causing bloodstream infections (BSI), hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and intra-abdominal infections (IAI) from 11 teaching hospitals across China were collected. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of clinically significant strains were determined by agar dilution method or broth microdilution method. The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) M100-S29 criteria were used for interpretation, and the WHONET-5.6 software was used in data analysis. Results: A total of 1 590 cases were collected, including 831 cases from BSI, 450 cases from HAP and 309 cases from IAI. The most prevalent pathogens causing BSI were Escherichia coli (29.2%, 243/831), Klebsiella pneumoniae (16.2%, 135/831) and Staphylococcus aureus (10.1%, 84/831); the most prevalent pathogens causing IAI were E. coli (26.2%, 81/309), Enterococcus faecium (15.5%, 48/309) and K. pneumoniae (13.3%, 41/309); while Acinetobacter baumanii (24.7%, 111/450), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (20.7%, 93/450) and K. pneumoniae (16.2%, 73/450) were dominated in HAP. All S. aureus were susceptible to tigecycline, linezolid, daptomycin and glycopeptides; 77.8% (105/135) of S. aureus strains were susceptible to ceftaroline. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) accounted for 29.6% (40/135) of all the S. aureus, and was lower than the accounted rate of methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (MRCNS) (83.7%, 41/49). One E. faecium strain (1.1%, 1/95) resistant to vacomycin and teicoplanin and one E. faecalis strain (2.3%, 1/43) resistant to linezolid was found. The prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) was 56.1% (193/344) in E. coli and 22.1% (55/249) in K. pneumonia; the rate of carbapenem resistant E. coli and K. pneumonia was 4.1% (14/344) and 22.9% (57/249), respectively; the percentage of ceftazidime/avibactam resistant E. coli and K. pneumonia was 2.3% (8/344) and 2.0% (5/249), respectively; the percentage of colistin resistant E. coli and K. pneumonia was 1.5% (5/344) and 7.6% (19/249), respectively; no E. coli and K. pneumonia strains were found resistant to tigecycline. The rate of carbapenem resistant A. baumanii and P. aeruginosa were 78.9% (146/185) and 36.7% (66/180), respectively. A. baumanii showed low susceptibility to the antimicrobial agents except colistin (99.5%, 184/185) and tigecycline (91.4%, 169/185). Colistin, amikacin and ceftazidime/avibactam demonstrated high antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa with susceptility rate of 100% (180/180), 93.3% (168/180) and 85.6% (154/180), respectively. Conclusions: Nosocomial Gram-negative pathogens show high susceptibilities to tigecycline, colistin and ceftazidime/avibactam in vitro. Antimicrobial resistance in A. baumannii is a serious problem. The prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae has increased, which should be monitored continuously in China.

Abstract
1. H-FABP (heart-type fatty acid-binding protein) is an important fatty acid-binding protein that participates in the metabolism and intracellular transportation of lipids. This study was designed to study the H-FABP gene expression and genetic association with meat quality traits in domestic pigeons.2. The spatio-temporal expression patterns showed that H-FABP was widely expressed in all eleven tissues in birds from hatching to 4 weeks of age, and the expression level in the liver was the highest, and spleen and subcutaneous fat showed relatively high levels at all time points, and increased markedly as squabs became older.3. Nine novel SNPs were found; three of them (g.42 C > T and g.123 C > T in exon 1 and g.3128 C > T in exon 2) were synonymous mutations, and six of them (g.3304 T > C, g.3305 G > A, g.3313A>G, g.3343 C > T, g.3372A>C, g.3410 T > C in exon 3) were located in the 3' untranslated region (UTR). In addition, four haplotypes and six diplotypes were formed and showed weak linkage disequilibrium. Association analysis showed that in the SNP of g.3305 G > A, the AB genotype showed higher (P < 0.05) inosinic acid concentrations in breast muscle than the BB genotype. In the SNP of g.3313A>G, the AA and AB genotypes showed significantly higher (P < 0.01) inosinic acid concentrations than the BB genotype, AA showed the highest intramuscular fat content, and the relative mRNA expression level of the AA genotype was the highest (P < 0.05).4. Association analysis of diplotypes showed no correlation with meat quality traits. Moreover, correlation analysis indicated that the H-FABP mRNA expression level was tightly related to intramuscular fat content (P < 0.01).5. This study suggested that the H-FABP gene may be a candidate gene in marker-assisted selection of pigeons for high-quality meat.

Abstract
Objective: To report the clinical and pathological features and surgical treatment of the linear nevus sebaceous syndrome. Methods: It was a retrospective case series study. The clinical records of 11 patients (14 eyes) who were diagnosed as linear nevus sebaceous syndrome between April 2009 and February 2018 at Beijing Tongren Hospital were analyzed. Data collected included sex, age, clinical manifestations, disease site, pathological features, surgical treatment and therapeutic effects. Results: There were six males and five females, aged 6 months to 7 years (mean, 2.8 years). The nevus sebaceous was located at the head (9 patients), face (5 patients) and neck (3 patients). The most common ocular manifestations were blepharocoloboma (13 eyes) and external ocular mass (9 eyes). Surgical treatment was performed in 9 patients (11 eyes), including lid reconstruction in all these eyes, corneal and conjunctival mass resection in four patients (4 eyes), eyelid tumor resection in 5 patients (5 eyes), and symblepharon separation and conjunctival sac reconstruction in 3 patients (5 eyes). Pathological examinations of the external ocular, corneal and conjunctival masses (6 eyes) confirmed the diagnosis of complex choristoma. All operated patients had improved appearance. Conclusions: Linear nevus sebaceous syndrome has characteristic cutaneous lesions and ocular manifestations. Histopathologically, all epibulbar lesions prove to be complex choristomas. The appearance of patients with linear nevus sebaceous syndrome can be significantly improved by oculoplastic surgery. (Chin J Ophthalmol, 2020, 56: 846-852).

Abstract
Fibrosis has also been recorded as a prominent pathological feature within wooden breast (WB) myopathy of broiler chickens. This study was conducted to evaluate the accumulation of fibril collagen, deposition of the extracellular matrix (ECM) components, and the underlying mechanism mediating the pathogenic fibrotic process in the pectoralis major (PM) muscle of WB-affected birds. Broiler chickens were categorized into the control and WB groups based on the evaluation of myopathic lesions. Results indicated that the total content and area of collagen in cross-sections of the PM muscle, as well as the augmented expression of collagen-I and fibronectin in the ECM, were greatly increased in birds with WB. Wooden breast myopathy upregulated expressions of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and the phosphorylation of Smad 2 and 3, thereby activating TGF-β-mediated Smad signaling pathway, which further enhanced the transcription of profibrotic mediators. In addition, regulators involved in collagen biosynthesis and cross-linking including prolyl 4-hydroxylase, lysyl oxidase, lysyl hydroxylase, and decorin were increased in the WB muscle. Finally, the expressions of both matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP) were increased in the WB muscle, which might be related with reduced ECM remodeling. Overall, WB myopathy induces severe fibrosis by enhancing ECM deposition and collagen cross-linking in the PM muscle of broiler chickens, possibly via the activation of TGF-β signaling and the dysregulation of the MMP and TIMP system.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the anatomical morphological characteristics of the trabecular bone of human mandibular condyle by observing the distribution of volume of interests (VOI). Methods: The micro-CT images of a right condyle specimen of a 61-year-old adult male was analyzed in this study. The cylindrical VOI with both diameter and height of 2 mm were arranged, according to a certain pattern, as many as possible at various levels within the trabecular bone of the condyle. Each VOI had no intersection area. The selected VOI were divided into 5 parts: medial part, middle part, lateral part, anterior part and posterior part, with 6 layers from top to bottom. And the distribution of the overall anatomical morphological characteristics of three-dimensional (3D) images of the trabecular bone of the condyle was analyzed by using seven morphological parameters of each VOI, i.e. bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume/total volume (BV/TV), bone surface area/bone volume (BS/BV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), trabecular bone number (Tb.N), trabecular spacing (Tb.Sp) and trabecular bone pattern factor (Tb.Pf). Results: In the present study, totally 34 VOI were selected from the condyle specimen. The morphological distribution of the VOI was uneven in the 3D structure of the trabecular bone of the human condyle. BMD, BV/TV, Tb.N and Tb.Th were much higher at the middle part, while showed the smallest at the medial part. The anterior part demonstrated much higher parameters than the posterior part at the first, second, fifth and sixth layers, respectively, however, the posterior part showed much higher parameters than the anterior part at the third and fourth layers, respectively. The BMD was much higher at the first [(332.66±97.11) mg/cm3] and sixth [(255.79±45.68) mg/cm3] layers, while the lowest at the second layer [(255.79±41.06) mg/cm3]. The BV/TV and Tb.N were much higher at the first layer, with the lowest at the fifth layer. The Tb.Th at the first layer [(0.11±0.03) mm] was much higher than the others, which were similarly lower. The BS/BV, Tb.Sp and Tb.Pf were lower at the first layer and much higher at the medial and lateral parts, while were lower at the middle and anterior parts. The posterior part demonstrated much higher BS/BV, Tb.Sp and Tb.Pf than the anterior part at the first, fifth and sixth layers, respectively. However, the anterior part showed much higher scores than the posterior part at the third and fourth layers, respectively. The ANOVA results showed that the 7 morphological parameters of VOI were not statistically significant amongst the 6 layers (P>0.05). However, the 6 out of the 7 parameters, i.e. BV/TV, BS/BV, Tb.Th, Tb.N, Tb.Sp and Tb.Pf, were statistically significant amongst the five parts (P<0.05), while the only parameter of BMD was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusions: The anatomical distribution characteristics of the trabecular bone of condyle were analyzed by using 3D imaging measurement based on the VOI. The results showed uneven distributions and indicated that the method of dividing the trabecular bone of mandibular condyle into VOI sets, which accorded with its specific anatomical characteristics, was feasible for further reference.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of Oncomelania snails control following the implementation of integrated schistosomiasis control measures in river channels connecting the Yangtze River in endemic areas of Nanjing City. METHODS The river channels connecting the Yangtze River with snails in Nanjing City were selected as the study pilots. The integrated schistosomiasis control measures implemented in the study pilots were investigated by means of retrospective analyses and field surveys from 1998 to 2019, and the effectiveness of snail control was evaluated. RESULTS Integrated control measures with emphases on environmental improvements including water resource projects for schistosomiasis control were implemented in the study pilots during the period from 1998 to 2019, including river bank concretion with 84.51 km in length, marshland cutting and dredging with 50.41 km in length, building 2 sluices and 3 overflow dams, digging one floodway and snail control with chemical treatment that covered an area of 3 370.80 hm2. No Schistosoma japonicum infection had been detected in snails since the completion of the integrated control measures. In addition, snails had been eliminated in 6 river channels connecting the Yangtze River until 2019, with the snail habitats reducing from 214.33 hm2 to 52.22 hm2 in 10 river channels connecting the Yangtze River and the snail density reducing to below 0.1 snails/0.1 m2 in snail-breeding river channels connecting the Yangtze River. CONCLUSIONS The integrated schistosomiasis control measures with emphases on environmental improvements may effectively control snail breeding and spread in rivers connecting the Yangtze River in endemic areas of schistosomiasis; however, the maintenance of the project and snail surveillance and control should be intensified following the completion of the integrated schistosomiasis control measures.

Targeting ferroptosis contributes to ATPR-induced AML differentiation via ROS-autophagy-lysosomal pathway. Gene 2020; 755:144889. Abstract
Ferroptosis, a newly discovered form of non-apoptotic cell death, is induced by an excessive degree of iron-dependent lipid peroxide. ATPR, a novel all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) derivative, has been extensively developed to show superior anticancer effect than ATRA in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, whether ferroptosis exists during ATPR treatment of AML remains unclear. Herein, we found that ferroptosis occurred in an AML xenograft mouse model of ATPR treatment. In vitro, ATPR was verified to induce ferroptosis in a dose-dependent manner by proferroptotic protein marker, lipid peroxidation, and lipid ROS, which could be significantly reversed by ferrostatin-1. Using lysosomal inhibitor chloroquine and iron chelator desferrioxamine, we further revealed that ATPR-induced ferroptosis was regulated by autophagy via iron homeostasis, especially Nrf2. Furthermore, targeting ferroptosis contributes to ATPR-induced AML differentiation. In conclusion, these results indicated that ferroptosis play an important role in ATPR-induced differentiation, and suggested that ATPR would provide a potential therapeutic value for AML treatment.

ATPR triggers acute myeloid leukaemia cells differentiation and cycle arrest via the RARα/LDHB/ERK-glycolysis signalling axis. J Cell Mol Med 2020; 24:6952-6965. Abstract
Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) remains a therapeutic challenge and improvements in chemotherapy are needed. 4‐Amino‐2‐trifluoromethyl‐phenyl retinate (ATPR), a novel all‐trans retinoic acid (ATRA) derivative designed and synthesized by our team, has been proven to show superior anticancer effect compared with ATRA on various cancers. However, its potential effect on AML remains largely unknown. Lactate dehydrogenase B (LDHB) is the key glycolytic enzyme that catalyses the interconversion between pyruvate and lactate. Currently, little is known about the role of LDHB in AML. In this study, we found that ATPR showed antileukaemic effects with RARα dependent in AML cells. LDHB was aberrantly overexpressed in human AML peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) and AML cell lines. A lentiviral vector expressing LDHB‐targeting shRNA was constructed to generate a stable AML cells with low expression of LDHB. The effect of LDHB knockdown on differentiation and cycle arrest of AML cells was assessed in vitro and vivo, including involvement of Raf/MEK/ERK signalling. Finally, these data suggested that ATPR showed antileukaemic effects by RARα/LDHB/ ERK‐glycolysis signalling axis. Further studies should focus on the underlying leukaemia‐promoting mechanisms and investigate LDHB as a therapeutic target.

Abstract
Background The modified polycystic ovary syndrome health-related quality-of-life questionnaire (MPCOSQ) is a 30-item instrument measuring quality-of-life in English-speaking patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We aimed to: 1) cross-culturally adapt the MPCOSQ into Chinese, and 2) assess the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the MPCOSQ (Chi-MPCOSQ). Methods The MPCOSQ was translated using the forward-backward method, and its validity and reliability were assessed among 283 Chinese patients with PCOS. Internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability were assessed by Cronbach’s α and intra-correlation coefficient (ICC), respectively. Construct validity was tested through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Discriminant validity was assessed by Mann-Whitney U test to compare the scores on the Chi-MPCOSQ between 283 women with PCOS and 93 women without PCOS. Results Exploratory factor analysis generated a 7-factor structure of the 30-item version of the Chi-MPCOSQ, which accounted for 77% of the overall variance. The Chi-MPCOSQ had high internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.88) and good test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.89). Compared to PCOS patients, women without PCOS had consistently lower scores for every dimension of the Chi-MPCOSQ, demonstrating its good discriminant validity. Conclusion The Chi-MPCOSQ is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring quality-of-life among Chinese women with PCOS.

Abstract
Processed walnuts including hot air-dried and roasted walnuts were prepared. Volatiles in raw and processed walnuts were analyzed using head-space solid phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Oxidative stability of hot air-dried walnuts in different antioxidants, with or without vacuum package was studied to find a proper package for oxidation stability of hot air-dried walnuts. The results showed that there were 14 volatiles in raw walnuts, 28 in hot air-dried walnuts and 38 in roasted walnuts. The changes of oil quality indices, total phenols, malondialdehyde and free radical scavenging activities during storage at 60 °C showed that the oil oxidation increased with storage time. The addition of antioxidants and vacuum package could slow down the oxidation. Vacuum aluminum foil package (14 × 20 cm) can delay the oil oxidation and extend the shelf life to ~ 230 days of hot air-dried walnuts at 20 °C. With added antioxidant this was extended to ~ 257 days.

Generalized Conditional Domain Adaptation: A Causal Perspective With Low-Rank Translators. IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CYBERNETICS 2020; 50:821-834. Abstract
Learning domain adaptive features aims to enhance the classification performance of the target domain by exploring the discriminant information from an auxiliary source set. Let X denote the feature and Y as the label. The most typical problem to be addressed is that P XY has a so large variation between different domains that classification in the target domain is difficult. In this paper, we study the generalized conditional domain adaptation (DA) problem, in which both P Y and P X|Y change across domains, in a causal perspective. We propose transforming the class conditional probability matching to the marginal probability matching problem, under a proper assumption. We build an intermediate domain by employing a regression model. In order to enforce the most relevant data to reconstruct the intermediate representations, a low-rank constraint is placed on the regression model for regularization. The low-rank constraint underlines a global algebraic structure between different domains, and stresses the group compactness in representing the samples. The new model is considered under the discriminant subspace framework, which is favorable in simultaneously extracting the classification information from the source domain and adaptation information across domains. The model can be solved by an alternative optimization manner of quadratic programming and the alternative Lagrange multiplier method. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to exploit low-rank representation, from the source domain to the intermediate domain, to learn the domain adaptive features. Comprehensive experimental results validate that the proposed method provides better classification accuracies with DA, compared with well-established baselines.

Abstract
Wooden breast (WB) has emerged as a dramatically increasing myopathy in the poultry industry over the past few years. The objective of this study was to investigate the incidence of WB in a Chinese commercial broiler processing plant, and the consequences on quality attributes, textural properties, and sensory traits. A total of 1,135 breast fillets were collected at the deboning line and assigned to normal, mild, moderate, and severe WB categories by tactile evaluation. The proportion affected by WB was approximately 61.9%. WB fillets appeared heavier and thicker than normal fillets. The degree of WB myopathy was highly correlated with fillet weight and thickness. The meat quality characteristics of cooking loss and purge loss increased along with increasing severity of WB myopathy. Compression tests of raw meat revealed higher cutting strength and shear values for WB. In cooked meat, only severe WB fillets exhibited elevated hardness and chewiness. Finally, moderate and severe WB fillets affected the sensory evaluation by consumers owing to their impaired general appearance, texture, and drip loss. The results suggested that a high proportion of WB broiler fillets would cause detrimental losses to the poultry meat retailing and processing industry.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of preslaughter shackling on stress, postmortem glycolysis, meat quality, water distribution, and protein structures of pectoralis majors. Before slaughter, Arbor Acres broilers (n = 105, 42 days old, 2.0 to 2.5 kg) were randomly categorized into 3 treatment groups: (I) control group without shackling (NS); (II) 2.5 min shackling (SS); (III) 4.5 min shackling (LS). Each treatment group consisted of 5 replicates with 7 broilers each. Results indicated that preslaughter shackling increased (P < 0.05) plasma corticosterone and adrenocorticotropic hormone concentrations in comparison with the control group. Antemortem shackling increased (P < 0.05) activity of glycogen phosphorylase and phosphofructokinase-1 (PFK-1) accompanying with rapid glycolysis and pH decline at early postmortem. LS treatment led to myosin denaturation, decreased (P < 0.05) α-helix content, and increased (P < 0.05) β-sheet structures proportion in the myofibrillar proteins. Furthermore, meat from LS treatment had higher (P < 0.05) lightness, redness, and poorer water-holding capacity. These results indicated that the longer shackling duration (4.5 min) increased stress and the rate of glycolysis, causing myosin denaturation and changes of the secondary structure in the myofibrillar proteins, which aggravated the deterioration of meat quality.

Abstract
Image set recognition has been widely applied in many practical problems like real-time video retrieval and image caption tasks. Due to its superior performance, it has grown into a significant topic in recent years. However, images with complicated variations, e.g., postures and human ages, are difficult to address, as these variations are continuous and gradual with respect to image appearance. Consequently, the crucial point of image set recognition is to mine the intrinsic connection or structural information from the image batches with variations. In this work, a Discriminant Residual Analysis (DRA) method is proposed to improve the classification performance by discovering discriminant features in related and unrelated groups. Specifically, DRA attempts to obtain a powerful projection which casts the residual representations into a discriminant subspace. Such a projection subspace is expected to magnify the useful information of the input space as much as possible, then the relation between the training set and the test set described by the given metric or distance will be more precise in the discriminant subspace. We also propose a nonfeasance strategy by defining another approach to construct the unrelated groups, which help to reduce furthermore the cost of sampling errors. Two regularization approaches are used to deal with the probable small sample size problem. Extensive experiments are conducted on benchmark databases, and the results show superiority and efficiency of the new methods.

Effects of N-carbamylglutamate and L-arginine on gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) gene expression and secretion in GT1-7 cells. Reprod Fertil Dev 2019; 30:759-765. Abstract
Recent studies have shown that N-carbamylglutamate (NCG) and arginine (ARG) supplementation improves reproductive performance in livestock. The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the effects of NCG and ARG on GT1-7 cell gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion, gene expression and cell proliferation. GT1-7 cells were treated in vitro with different concentrations of NCG (0-1.0mM) or ARG (0-4.0mM) in serum-free medium for 12 or 24h. For GnRH secretion and cell proliferation, GT1-7 cells were more sensitive to NCG than ARG. NCG treatment after 12h increased cell numbers and inhibited GnRH secretion in a dose-dependent manner (P<0.05), although there was no significant effect of NCG on these parameters after 24h culture. ARG treatment decreased GnRH secretion after 24h (P<0.05), whereas it had no effect after 12h. GT1-7 cells express GnRH, Kiss-1 metastasis-suppressor (Kiss1), G-protein coupled receptor 54 (GPR54), neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and estrogen receptor α (ERα) genes. High concentrations of NCG (1.0mM) and ARG (4.0mM) inhibited (P<0.05) GnRH and nNOS mRNA abundance in GT1-7 cells. ARG treatment decreased Kiss1 and increased ERα mRNA abundance. Thus, high concentrations of NCG (1.0mM) and ARG (4.0mM) may act both directly and indirectly to regulate GnRH neuron function by downregulating genes related to GnRH synthesis and secretion to slow GnRH production while stimulating GT1-7 cell proliferation.

Abstract
Objective:Since bacterial infection is one of the common pathogenic factors lead to chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), our study is designed to investigate the prevalence and antibiotic resistance of nasal colonized bacteria in patients with CRS, and to analyze the correlation between nasal colonized bacteria and pathogenesis of CRS. Method:Nasal vestibule samples collected from 200 patients with CRS were automatically inoculated on to various bacterial culture medium, cultured by WaspLab microbiology automated system, potential pathogenic bacterial colonies grew on agar plates were then examined, identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry, and analyzed their antibiotic-resistant phenotype by antibiotic susceptibility testing. Result:Two hundred and seventy-five bacterial strains of nasal colonization were isolated, including coagulase-negative Staphylococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenza, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. All strains displayed various degrees of antimicrobial resistance among children and adult patients, or among patients with and without endoscopic sinus surgery. Conclusion:The constitution of nasal colonized commensal bacteria in patients with CRS was partially similar to that of pathogenic bacteria causing CRS. They may form a reservoir of antimicrobial resistant pathogens, which would transform into pathogenic bacteria causing CRS under certain conditions. Screening of nasal colonized bacteria may represent an alternative approach for diagnosis and treatment of CRS.

Abstract
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (US) is a widely used imaging modality for hepatocellular carcinoma diagnosis. Mostly, US imaging is confined to the intravascular process because of the limitation of the microbubble contrast agent currently utilized. Targeted contrast agents that incline to accumulate in tumor tissue or tumor cells and enhance the US signal may advance the sensitivity of ultrasonography and exploit the dimension of US imaging of tumor at the molecular level. In this study, we developed CaCO3/pul-PCB (CPP) hybrid nanoparticles with hepatoma-targeting pullulan decorating on the surface through a mineralization route using the pullulan- graft-poly(carboxybetaine methacrylate) (pul-PCB) copolymer as a modifier. This particle was stable in blood physiological pH and generated echogenic CO2 bubbles under tumoral acidic conditions, which enabled the US signal enhancement. Upon intravenous injection, CPP hybrid nanoparticles accumulated efficiently in tumor tissue and exhibited sixfold contrast enhancement in 35 min at the tumor site in the hepatoma-bearing mice model. By contrast, there was barely any signal change in normal liver tissue. Therefore, the presented CPP hybrid nanoparticle is a promising contrast agent for effective US imaging of hepatoma.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the clinical characteristics of mandibular movement and masticatory muscle function in preoperative and postoperative patients with unilateral mandibular tumors in the region of mandibular body and ramus by combining digital mandibular movement records with electromyography, and to preliminarily explore the relationship and mechanism between movement and masticatory muscle function. METHODS Six preoperative patients with tumor in unilateral body and ramus of mandible were included, and three postoperative patients with unilateral segmental resection and reconstruction of mandibular bone were included. The mandibular movement recording system and surface electromyography system were used to collect the movement trajectory of the patients' mandibular marginal movement and chewing movement, and the surface electromyography of bilateral masseter and temporalis was recorded concurrently. The surface electromyography of bilateral masseter and temporalis was collected when the patients were at relaxation and at maximal voluntary clenching (MVC). The motion trajectory was observed on the digital virtual model, and the motion amplitude and direction of mandibular marginal movements were analyzed. The characteristics of masticatory electromyogram (EMG) activity in affected and unaffected sides at relaxation, MVC and bilateral mastication were analyzed, and the asymmetry indexes and activity indexes were calculated. RESULTS The preoperative mean maximum opening of the patients was (35.20±6.87) mm. Three patients had mild mouth opening limitation, and all the patients' mouth opening trajectory was skewed to the affected side. During lateral movements, the mean range of motion of the affected side [(10.34±1.27) mm] and that of the healthy side [(6.94±2.41) mm] were significantly different. The maximum opening of the postoperative patients was (30.65±17.32) mm, and the mandibular marginal movement characteristics were consistent with those of the patients before surgery. During MVC in the preoperative patients, the median EMG activities of the masseter muscle [44.20 (5.70, 197.90) μV] and the temporalis muscle [42.15 (22.90, 155.00) μV] on the affected side were slightly lower than those of the masseter [45.60 (7.50, 235.40) μV] and the temporalis muscle [63.30 (44.10, 126.70) μV] on the healthy side. In the postoperative patients, individualized changes occurred. Some patients suffered from weakened electromyographic activity on the affected side, while some other ones showed hyperelectromyographic activity on the affected side. CONCLUSION Both benign and malignant tumors as well as their surgery can cause abnormal mandibular movements and change of electromyographic activity of bilateral masseter and temporalis muscles.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the symmetry of nasal maxillary complex in the three-dimensional directions of patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate(UCLP) at the stage of mixed dentition. METHODS Craniofacial cone-beam CT(CBCT) images of 20 UCLP patients at the stage of mixed dentition were selected. Three-dimensional reconstruction of bone tissue was carried out by Mimics software, nasal root point and 32 markers with the same name of the healthy side and the cleft side of the nasal maxillary complex were traced, three-dimensional reference planes were set up, then the distances between the points to the three-dimensional planes were measured respectively. SPSS 22.0 software package was used to analyze the data. RESULTS In the horizontal direction, compared with the non-cleft side, the width of the cleft side of the maxilla at INM and SPC was smaller, the width of maxilla at LPA and SPr was larger, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). In the sagittal direction, compared with the non-cleft side, the depth of LPA, Maz and SPr at the cleft side was larger, the depth of SPM and SPC was smaller, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).In the vertical direction, the positions of LPA, INM and Maz at the cleft side was lower than the non-cleft side, SPC and SPr were higher, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The remaining points had no significant difference (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS The nasal maxillary complex of UCLP patients at the stage of mixed dentition is asymmetric in three directions. The asymmetric locations were mainly located in the nasal cavity and alveolar bone. No obvious asymmetry is found in the orbital region and the maxillary region far from the cleft.

Abstract
The prevalence of antibiotic resistance and lack of alternative drugs have posed an increasing threat to public health. Here, we prepared β-Ga2O3:Cr3+ nanoparticles modified with ICAM1-antibody-conjugated TPGS (I-TPGS/Ga2O3) as a novel antibiotic carrier for the treatment of drug-resistant infections. Methods: I-TPGS/Ga2O3 were firstly characterized by measuring particle size, morphology, crystal structure, drug loading capacity, and in vitro drug release behaviors. The in vitro antibacterial activities of I-TPGS/Ga2O3/TIG were evaluated using standard and drug-resistant bacteria. The internalization of I-TPGS/Ga2O3 was observed by fluorescence confocal imaging, and the expression levels of the efflux pump genes of TRKP were analyzed by real-time RT-PCR. In vitro cellular uptake and in vivo biodistribution study were performed to investigate the targeting specificity of I-TPGS/Ga2O3 using HUEVC and acute pneumonia mice, respectively. The in vivo anti-infective efficacy and biosafety of I-TPGS/Ga2O3/TIG were finally evaluated using acute pneumonia mice. Results: It was found that TPGS could down-regulate the over-expression of the efflux pump genes, thus decreasing the efflux pump activity of bacteria. I-TPGS/Ga2O3 with small particle size and uniform distribution facilitated their internalization in bacteria, and the TPGS modification resulted in a significant reduction in the efflux of loaded antibiotics. These properties rendered the encapsulated tigecycline to exert a stronger antibacterial activity both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, targeted delivery of I-TPGS/Ga2O3 mediated by ICAM1 antibodies contributed to a safe and effective therapy. Conclusion: It is of great value to apply I-TPGS/Ga2O3 as a novel and effective antibiotic delivery system for the treatment of drug-resistant infections.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between dental calcification stages (DCS) and cervical vertebral maturation stages (CVMS) in patients with unilateral complete cleft lips and palates (UCLP) and to provide a theoretical basis for the treatment time selection of cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients. METHODS A total of 123 UCLP patients and 215 non-CLP subjects were selected. The DCS of the left mandibular canine, premolar, and second molar in non-CLP subjects and on both cleft sides of UCLP patients were assessed utilizing the Demirjian method. CVMS was observed utilizing the Baccetti method. The results were analyzed by Spearman rank correlation, and the correlation coefficients were compared. RESULTS There was a correlation between the CVMS and the DCS of the left mandibular canine, the first premolar, the second premolar, and the second molar in the non-CLP subjects and on both cleft sides of the UCLP patients (r=0.762-0.864, P<0.05; r=0.809-0.914, P<0.05, respectively). The correlation between the CVMS and the DCS of the mandibular first premolar was highest among the UCLP patients. Except for the first and the second premolars of UCLP females, the correlation between the DCS and the CVMS of the other teeth did not differ among the non-CLP subjects (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS DCS can be utilized as a biological index to determine the growth development statuses. The correlation between the CVMS and the DCS of the mandibular first premolar was the highest.

Abstract
Solvothermal reactions of 3,3′,5,5′-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid (H4BPTC) and cobalt(ii) ions in the presence of two different flexible N-donor ancillary ligands afford two novel coordination polymers, {[Co(BPTC)0.5(bix)]·H2O}n (1), {[Co(BPTC)0.5(bpp)]·3H2O}n (2) (bix=1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene; bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane). Their structures have been determined by elemental analyses, IR spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, and powder X-ray diffraction. The pillared layered framework of 1 can be simplified to a (4,6)-connected net with a Schläfli symbol of (44·62)(44·69·82). Complex 2 manifests a bilayered structure, and can be simplified to a (4,4)-connected net with a Schläfli symbol of (55·8)(54·62). The thermal stabilities of both complexes and the magnetic behaviours of 1 are also discussed.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the high-risk histopathologic features of retinoblastoma eyes enucleated as primary treatment. Methods: Retrospective case series study. An analysis was carried out on the high-risk histopathologic features of 482 primarily enucleated retinoblastoma eyes in Beijing Tongren Eye Center during December 2011 and December 2016. The high-risk histopathologic features included post lamina cribrosa invasion, massive choroidal invasion, anterior segment invasion and extraocular invasion. According to the neovascularization of iris (NVI) in the tissue specimen, the patients were divided into the NVI positive group and negative group. The rates of high-risk histopathologic features in the NVI positive group and negative group were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Among 482 children with retinoblastoma, 280 (58.1%) were males and 202 (41.9%) were females. The median age at enucleation surgery was 24 months (range, 1-84 months). Of the 482 primarily enucleated eyes, 184 (38.2%) were classified as high-risk histopathologic features, including 148 (30.7%) with post lamina cribrosa invasion, 15 (3.1%) with optic nerve transection invasion, 66 (13.7%) with massive choroidal invasion, 35 (7.3%) with anterior segment invasion, and 5 (1.0%) with extraocular invasion. NVI was detected in 257 (53.3%) cases and there was a significant relation between high-risk histopathologic features and NVI. The rate of high-risk histopathologic features was significantly higher in the NVI positive group (123 cases, 47.9%) than the NVI negative group (61 cases, 27.1%) (χ(2)=21.883, P=0.001). The rate of post lamina cribrosa invasion was significantly higher in the NVI positive group (110 cases, 42.8%) than the NVI negative group (38 cases, 16.9%) (χ(2)=37.860, P=0.001). Conclusions: In this large sample of patients, about 1/3 of retinoblastoma eyes has high-risk histopathologic features. The NVI positive retinoblastoma is more likely to have high-risk histopathologic features or post lamina cribrosa invasion than the NVI negative retinoblastoma. Abstract
Objective: To calculate the three-dimensional trajectory and motion morphology of condyle by combining the trajectory of the mandible movement and the three-dimensional model of the mandible. Methods: Cone beam CT (CBCT) scanning was performed on the volunteer. The mandible three-dimensional model was built with image data transferred to the graphical user interface of the computer workstation. The novel virtual articulator PN300 recorded the three-dimensional trajectory of mandible. All these data were transferred to software system of computer workstation calculating the three-dimensional trajectory of condyle. The motion morphology of condyle was simulated by merging function surface at each point. Results: When the mandible moved in an opening process, the recorded data was calculated and it was shown that: the condylar functional surface moved moved forward and downward inward in advance, and in the process of continuously increasing the opening degree, the function faced the front upper inner side. The straight-line distance between the position and the final position was 8.34 mm. During the forward movement of the mandible, the coracoid process slided forward downward and inward with a sliding distance of 8.64 mm. During lateral movement, the range of the working side condyle function surface motion was small, only slight rotation, the maximum range of motion was 1.97 mm; in the process of row side movement, the non-working condyle function surface had a larger movement range than the working side, the movement direction was the front lower inner side, and the movement distance was 7.65 mm. Conclusions: The novel virtual articulator PN300 and digital technology can achieve the accurate measurement of three-dimensional trajectory of the condyle, and furthermore simulate the motion morphology of the condyle.
