Abstract
Cancer survivors who undergo radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy experience a decline in immune system function. Atopic diseases (ADs) are associated with systemic immunosuppressant medications and exposure to environmental allergens. However, the relationship between cancer survivorship and the prevalence of ADs remains poorly understood. This study investigated whether the prevalence of ADs is increased among cancer survivors. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using data from the 2021 US National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). The data were on 28,617 adults aged 18 years and older. Data analysis was performed between May 11, 2024, and July 30, 2024. The NHIS participants reported whether they had a history of current hay fever, still asthma, current skin allergy, and/or current food allergy. A history of cancer was defined on the basis of self-reported data from the NHIS. The weighted prevalence and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of ADs were calculated. Comparisons of AD prevalence between cancer survivors and the general population were conducted using chi-square tests and multiadjusted logistic regression models. Of the 28,617 adults sampled in the 2021 NHIS, the prevalence of ADs among the cancer survivors was as follows: current hay fever (54.5%; 95% CI, 52.6%-56.4%), persistent asthma (14.7%; 95% CI, 12.9%-13.9%), current skin allergy (13.6%; 95% CI, 10.1%-15.0%), and current food allergy (11.2%; 95% CI, 10.0%-12.4%). In multivariable logistic regression models adjusted for age, sex, race/ethnicity, family income, educational level, insurance status, body mass index, general health status, region, location, and comorbidity burden, the cancer survivors had significantly higher odds of ADs than did the general population. In particular, they had higher odds of current hay fever (aOR, 1.14; 95% CI, 1.05-1.23), persistent asthma (aOR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.03-1.33), current skin allergy (aOR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.13-1.41), and current food allergy (aOR, 1.22; 95% CI, 1.08-1.38). The findings of this cross-sectional study indicated that the prevalence of ADs was significantly higher in cancer survivors than in the general population. Future research is required to elucidate the underlying mechanisms, optimize treatment strategies, and enhance the overall well-being of individuals with ADs and a history of cancer.

Abstract
Cancer survivors are encouraged to maintain a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise to improve overall physical and psychosocial health, and to reduce the likelihood of cancer recurrence and related mortality. Consequently, nutrition and exercise (the structured component of physical activity) knowledge, attitude, and practice (NE-KAP) are frequently evaluated in research studies involving cancer survivors and are associated with various health outcomes. The aims of this scoping review were to (1) systematically map the types of NE-KAP assessment questionnaires used in cancer survivorship research (i.e., trend or use over the past five years), (2) provide a directory of questionnaires, and (3) identify the most frequently reported health outcomes that have been associated with them. A systematic search was conducted across four databases-Medline, Emcare, CINAHL, and Scopus-from 1 January 2019 to 9 May 2024, for studies addressing one or more aspects of NE-KAP (e.g., food frequency questionnaire for nutrition practice, attitude towards exercise scale for exercise attitude). Eligible studies were extracted, assessed, and reviewed by two independent authors, and data were summarized descriptively. Of the initial 5452 records screened, 1122 articles were screened for full text, and 852 were deemed eligible, with 262 studies included. There was an overall increasing trend in NE-KAP research in cancer survivorship research from 2019 to 2023. Of the 200 unique questionnaires aligning with at least one NE-KAP domain, 45 were untitled and created/adapted specifically for their respective studies, with limited information about their psychometric properties. Out of the 262 included studies, the most utilized questionnaires were those measuring nutrition or physical activity practices, such as study-specific food frequency questionnaires (n = 26, 10%) and the Godin-Shephard Leisure-Time Physical Activity questionnaire (n = 52, 20%). Out of studies that had reported health outcomes (nutrition, n = 23; exercise, n = 40), health-related quality of life was most commonly associated with nutrition (n = 12, 53%) and exercise (n = 9, 23%), and from cross-sectional studies (nutrition, n = 13; exercise, n = 23). An emphasis was placed on assessing nutrition and exercise practices, with limited attention towards the knowledge and attitude domains. Psychometric evaluation of questionnaires was also lacking.

Abstract
PURPOSE Little is known about the perceptions and experiences of care received from healthcare teams among cancer survivors with multiple chronic conditions (MCCs). METHODS Cancer survivors completed an online survey (N=441) of which 12 participated in an interview. Team complexity was operationalized based on team size, clinician specialties, and health system affiliation. Kilpatrick's Patient-Perceptions of Team Effectiveness (PTE) questionnaire measured team effectiveness. Constant comparative method was used to identify care coordination challenges and facilitators from interviews. RESULTS Mean age at cancer diagnosis was 45 years (SD=14), 68% were 5 years from diagnosis, the most common cancer was breast (27%), and two-thirds had two or more pre-diagnosis comorbidities. Sixty percent rated both cancer and other condition(s) as taking priority. Team complexity varied from low (32%), moderate (49%), and high (20%). Eighty percent rated PTE overall as high, with variation by subscales: coordination (85%) and patient-family focus (47%). Higher team complexity was associated with lower PTE overall (p=0.049). Challenges were identified: sequential referrals with no integration across team members; no shared mental model among team; and cancer survivor having to "referee" conflicting care decisions. CONCLUSION This mixed method study found an inverse relationship between team complexity and PTE-overall, where high-complexity teams had lower team effectiveness. Participants reported issues with the problem-solving abilities of their teams and felt like their contributions were not valued by their care team. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Improving team effectiveness offers one way to leverage the expertise of multiple specialties to deliver integrated, patient-centered care for the growing population of cancer survivors with MCC.

Abstract
PURPOSE The prevalence of cancer among patients accessing primary care in federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) is poorly characterized. A patient's history of cancer in addition to common chronic conditions makes providing comprehensive primary care more complex, especially for patients accessing care at FQHCs who often face additional social and economic barriers to care. METHODS Trained auditors conducted a comprehensive electronic medical record audit using a standardized abstraction form to identify cancer history in patients aged ≥ 40 years with two common chronic conditions (diabetes and/or hypertension) and who had at least one visit to an FQHC between January 1 and December 31, 2019. Descriptive statistics were performed. RESULTS Among 712 adult patients with diabetes and/or hypertension, 46 (6.46%) had a documented history of cancer. For the majority of cancer patients (67.4%), cancer information was documented in the "Problem List" section of their medical record. CONCLUSION Our study revealed a higher prevalence of cancer in FQHC primary care records than previously reported. Future research should examine whether readily accessible cancer history information in primary care records could enhance comprehensive care delivery for all chronic conditions, including cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To conduct a systematic review on Artificial Intelligence-Mediated Communication (AIMC) behavioral interventions in cancer prevention/control and substance use. METHODS Eight databases were searched from 2017 to 2022 using the Population Intervention Control Outcome Study (PICOS) framework. We synthesized findings of AIMC-based interventions for adult populations in cancer prevention/control or substance use, applying SIGN Methodology Checklist 2 for quality assessments and reviewing retention and engagement. RESULTS Initial screening identified 187 studies; seven met inclusion criteria, involving 2768 participants. Females comprised 67.6% (n = 1870). Mean participant age was 42.73 years (SD = 7.00). Five studies demonstrated significant improvements in substance use recovery, physical activity, genetic testing, or dietary habits. CONCLUSIONS AIMC shows promise in enhancing health behaviors, but further exploration is needed on privacy risks, biases, safety concerns, chatbot features, and serving underserved populations. IMPLICATIONS There is a critical need to foster comprehensive fully powered studies and collaborations between technology developers, healthcare providers, and researchers. Policymakers can facilitate the responsible integration of AIMC technologies into healthcare systems, ensuring equitable access and maximizing their impact on public health outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer patients have up to a 3-fold higher risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) than the general population. Traditional CVD risk scores may be less accurate for them. We aimed to develop cancer-specific CVD risk scores and compare them with conventional scores in predicting 10-year CVD risk for patients with breast cancer (BC), colorectal cancer (CRC), or lung cancer (LC). METHODS We analyzed adults diagnosed with BC, CRC, or LC between 2005 and 2012. An machine learning (ML) Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm ranked 40-50 covariates for predicting CVD for each cancer type using SHapley Additive exPlanations values. The top 10 ML-predictors were used to create predictive equations using logistic regression and compared with American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) Pooled Cohort Equations (PCE), Predicting Risk of cardiovascular disease EVENTs (PREVENT), and Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation-2 (SCORE2) using the area under the curve (AUC). RESULTS We included 10 339 patients: 55.5% had BC, 15.6% had CRC, and 29.7% had LC. The actual 10-year CVD rates were: BC 21%, CRC 10%, and LC 28%. The predictors derived from the ML algorithm included cancer-specific and socioeconomic factors. The cancer-specific predictive scores achieved AUCs of 0.84, 0.76, and 0.83 for BC, CRC, and LC, respectively, and outperformed PCE, PREVENT, and SCORE2, increasing the absolute AUC values by up to 0.31 points (with AUC ranging from 0 to 1). Similar results were found when excluding patients with cardiac history or advanced cancer from the analysis. CONCLUSIONS Cancer-specific CVD predictive scores outperform conventional scores and emphasize the importance of integrating cancer-related covariates for precise prediction.

Abstract
The first part of this review highlighted the evolving landscape of atherosclerosis, noting emerging cardiometabolic risk factors, the growing impact of exposomes, and social determinants of health. The prominent role of atherosclerosis in the bidirectional relationship between cardiovascular disease and cancer was also discussed. In this second part, we examine the complex interplay between multimorbid cardio-oncologic patients, cardiometabolic risk factors, and the harmful environments that lend a "syndemic" nature to these chronic diseases. We summarize management strategies targeting disordered cardiometabolic factors to mitigate cardiovascular disease and explore molecular mechanisms enabling more tailored therapies. Importantly, we emphasize the early interception of atherosclerosis through multifactorial interventions that detect subclinical signs (via biomarkers and imaging) to treat modifiable risk factors and prevent clinical events. A concerted preventive effort-referred to by some as a "preventome"-is essential to reduce the burden of atherosclerosis-driven chronic diseases, shifting from mere chronic disease management to the proactive promotion of "chronic health".

Abstract
AIM Cigarette smoking and diabetes mellitus (DM) increase risks of cardiovascular diseases and all-cause mortality in cancer survivors. An increased risk of DM incidence in cancer survivors has been observed and smoking is an important modifiable risk factor for DM development in the general population. Thus, we investigated the association between smoking behavior change after cancer diagnosis and DM incidence in cancer survivors. METHODS This retrospective cohort study using the Korean National Health Insurance System database included patients with newly diagnosed cancers between 2010 and 2016. Smoking behavior changes after cancer diagnosis were categorized as never smoker, ex-smoker, quitter, smoking starter, and persistent smoker. The associations between smoking behavior changes and DM incidence in overall and specific cancers were investigated using Cox regression analyses. RESULTS Of the 263,940 cancer survivors, 67.6 % were never smokers, 16.0 % were ex-smokers, 9.3 % were quitters, 1.0 % were smoking starters, and 6.2 % were persistent smokers. During a mean follow-up of 4.0 years, 12,175 patients were diagnosed with DM after cancer development. Compared to the never smokers, the adjusted hazard ratios (95 % confidential interval) of DM incidence were 1.06 (1.00-1.13) for ex-smokers, 1.45 (1.35-1.54) for quitters, 1.46 (1.25-1.71) for starters, and 1.57 (1.45-1.69) for persistent smokers. CONCLUSION Compared with never smokers, cancer survivors who engaged smoking at any point before or after cancer diagnosis showed an increased risk of DM incidence after cancer diagnosis. Cancer survivors should be advised to quit smoking promptly and to maintain abstinence throughout cancer survivorship.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dementia, a growing global health issue, affects older adults and specific groups like long-term cancer survivors. The link between cancer survival and dementia is debated. Multiple myeloma (MM), a common blood cancer in older adults, is often linked with cognitive issues. This study investigated dementia incidence in long-term MM survivors using Korean national data. METHODS A retrospective case-control study used data from the Korea National Health Insurance Service (KNHIS), covering about 50 million Koreans. Patients diagnosed with MM between 2009 and 2020 formed the case cohort, while the control cohort included matched individuals without MM using propensity-score matching. Analyzing baseline characteristics, comorbidities, and socioeconomic status, the primary outcome was dementia incidence identified via ICD-10 codes. Statistical methods included Kaplan-Meier plots, cause-specific and Fine-Gray subdistribution hazard models, and a 3-year landmark analysis for immortal time bias. RESULTS The study included 33,864 patients, with 16,932 in each cohort. The overall cumulative dementia incidence was lower in the MM cohort compared to controls. However, in the first 3 years, MM patients had a higher dementia risk (HR: 1.711, 95% CI, 1.562-1.874) than controls. After 3 years, the risk significantly decreased (HR: 0.625, 95% CI, 0.560-0.696). Age-specific analysis showed a consistent pattern, particularly among MM patients aged 70-79, where dementia risk increased post-3 years. CONCLUSION This study reveals a lower long-term dementia risk in MM survivors compared to non-MM individuals. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings and explore the underlying mechanisms.

Abstract
Purpose Nutrition is essential for cancer care, and patients who reside in food priority areas (FPAs) may experience limited access to healthy meals. There are few data evaluating the consequence of residing in FPAs because it relates to perceived food insecurity, psychosocial needs, or nutritional status of patients with cancer. This study aimed to determine the nutritional and psychosocial needs of patients with cancer who do and do not reside in FPAs. Methods and Materials From May 2019 to December 2022, a cross-sectional analysis was conducted using a validated questionnaire, offered at various time points before and after therapy, evaluating the psychosocial needs of patients with curable cancers. Groups were compared using X2 and Mann-Whitney U tests as appropriate. Binary logistic regression was used to identify predictors of food insecurity. Results Survey compliance was 74% (n = 320 of 434 patients). Patients who resided in FPAs (26%; n = 114) were more likely to self-identify as Black (60.5% vs 39.5%; P < .001), single (70% vs 37%; P < .001), and have a lower median income ($47,225 vs $91,305; P < .001) when compared with non-FPA residents. Residents of FPAs had a higher unmet nutritional needs index (median nutritional unmet needs score: 2.42 vs 2.00; P = .003), which included higher demands for healthier food choices (67.6% vs 54.4; P = .047) and greater food insecurity (44.4% vs 19.9%; P = .002). FPA residence was associated with a 3-fold increased risk of food insecurity (odds ratio [OR], 3.23; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.59-6.57; P < .001). On multivariate analysis, predictors for food insecurity included Black race (OR, 9.46; 95% CI, 3.93-22.76; P < .001), stage (stage IV vs l OR, 4.27; 95% CI, 1.12-16.34; P = .034), and recurrent disease (OR, 10.26; 95% CI, 2.29-46.09; P = .002). Conclusions Inequities were identified in patients residing in FPAs, where race and higher stage were important predictors of food insecurity. Demographics can be readily used by clinicians to identify high-risk patients early in their cancer care in order to provide continuous nutritional resources to improve food insecurity perceptions. Future prospective studies are needed to confirm if such interventions improve cancer outcomes.

Abstract
The population of cancer survivors is on the rise due to an increase in cancer incidence and a decline in cancer mortality. This growing survivor population creates a number of challenges. Although there have been improvements in care planning for cancer survivors, our healthcare system still lacks the delivery of coordinated care between primary care physicians and specialists. Understanding the needs of cancer survivors can help improve the current care models. In this review we describe existing survivorship care models. We also describe emerging models using some programs at the Cleveland Clinic to highlight various potential approaches.

Abstract
Objective To evaluate chronic conditions as leading predictors of economic burden over time among older adults with incident primary Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) using machine learning methods. Methods We used a retrospective cohort of older adults (age ≥ 67 years) diagnosed with MCC between 2009 and 2019. For these elderly MCC patients, we derived three phases (pre-diagnosis, during-treatment, and post-treatment) anchored around cancer diagnosis date. All three phases had 12 months baseline and 12-months follow-up periods. Chronic conditions were identified in baseline and follow-up periods, whereas annual total and out-of-pocket (OOP) healthcare expenditures were measured during the 12-month follow-up. XGBoost regression models and SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) methods were used to identify leading predictors and their associations with economic burden. Results Congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and depression had the highest average incremental total expenditures during pre-diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment phases, respectively ($25,004, $24,221, and $16,277 (CHF); $22,524, $19,350, $20,556 (CKD); and $21,645, $22,055, $18,350 (depression)), whereas the average incremental OOP expenditures during the same periods were $3703, $3,013, $2,442 (CHF); $2,457, $2,518, $2,914 (CKD); and $3,278, $2,322, $2,783 (depression). Except for hypertension and HIV, all chronic conditions had higher expenditures compared to those without the chronic conditions. Predictive models across each of phases of care indicated that CHF, CKD, and heart diseases were among the top 10 leading predictors; however, their feature importance ranking declined over time. Although depression was one of the leading drivers of expenditures in unadjusted descriptive models, it was not among the top 10 predictors. Conclusion Among older adults with MCC, cardiac and renal conditions were the leading drivers of total expenditures and OOP expenditures. Our findings suggest that managing cardiac and renal conditions may be important for cost containment efforts.

Abstract
Objective Chronic disease is common in people with cancer. However, the utilisation of Medicare chronic disease management (CDM) items for cancer patients in Australia remains unexplored. This study investigates Medicare CDM item numbers relating to people with cancer, including general practitioner (GP) and allied health CDM item numbers, and any associated sociodemographic factors. Methods Data from 86,571 people with cancer registered in the Queensland Cancer Registry between July 2011 and June 2015 and the CDM items codes from Medical Benefits Scheme records until 2018 were analysed. This includes utilisation of General Practitioner Management Plans (GPMP) and Team Care Arrangements (TCAs), reviews of GPMPs and TCAs, and engagement with allied health services until June 2018 following a cancer diagnosis. Results In total 47,615 (55%) and 43,286 (50%) people with cancer initiated at least one GPMP and TCA, respectively, with 31,165 (36%) receiving at least one review, and 36,359 (42%) utilising at least one allied health service (e.g. physiotherapists (41%), podiatrists (27%), exercise physiologists (19%)) with variations by cancer type. While people with cancer from disadvantaged socioeconomic groups had a higher likelihood of receiving GPMP (odds ratio, OR: 1.16, 95% confidence interval, CI: 1.11-1.21) and TCA (OR: 1.12, 95% CI: 1.07-1.16), they were less likely to utilise allied health services (OR: 0.89, 95% CI: 0.85-0.93). People with cancer living in remote areas were less likely to receive TCA (OR: 0.84, 95% CI: 0.80-0.88) or utilise allied health services (OR: 0.63, 95% CI: 0.60-0.67) than those in metropolitan areas. Conclusion Our findings underscore the need to examine uptake and implementation patterns of CDM items, especially in relation to clinical, social, and service provider-level factors and related potential barriers. Further exploration is warranted to understand whether people with cancer's care needs are being met and ways to optimise the supportive care of these people.

Abstract
Advances in cancer screening and treatment have improved survival after a diagnosis of cancer. As the number of cancer survivors as well as their overall life-expectancy increases, investigations of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) are critical in understanding the factors that promote the optimal experience over the course of survivorship. However, there is a dearth of information on determinants of HRQOL for African American cancer survivors as the vast majority of cohorts have been conducted predominantly among non-Hispanic Whites. In this review, we provide a review of the literature related to HRQOL in cancer survivors including those in African Americans. We then present a summary of published work from the Detroit Research on Cancer Survivors (ROCS) cohort, a population-based cohort of more than 5000 African American cancer survivors. Overall, Detroit ROCS has markedly advanced our understanding of the unique factors contributing to poorer HRQOL among African Americans with cancer. This work and future studies will help inform potential interventions to improve the long-term health of this patient population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With aging of the population and improvements in diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care, the number of cancer survivors in the United States has increased; updated prevalence estimates are needed. METHODS Cancer prevalence on January 1, 2022, was estimated using the Prevalence Incidence Approach Model, utilizing incidence, survival, and mortality. Prevalence by age decade, sex, and time from diagnosis was calculated. The percentage of cancer survivors in the projected US population by age and sex was calculated as the ratio of the sex-specific projected prevalence to the sex-specific projected US population. RESULTS There were an estimated 18.1 million US cancer survivors as of January 1, 2022. From 2022 to 2030, the number of US cancer survivors is projected to increase to 21.6 million; by 2040, the number is projected to be 26 million. Long-term survivors are highly prevalent; in 2022, 70% of cancer survivors had lived 5 years or more after diagnosis, and 11% of cancer survivors had lived 25 years or more after diagnosis. Among all US females aged 40-54 years, 3.6% were cancer survivors; among females aged 65-74 years, 14.5% were cancer survivors; among females aged 85 years and older, 36.4% were cancer survivors. Among all US males aged 40-54 years, 2.1% were cancer survivors; among males aged 65-74 years, 16% were cancer survivors; and among those aged 85 years and older, 48.3% were cancer survivors. CONCLUSIONS Cancer survivors are growing in number. In the United States, most cancer survivors are long-term and very long-term survivors, representing a substantial proportion of the US population.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Identifying reliable biomarkers that reflect cancer survivorship symptoms remains a challenge for researchers. DNA methylation (DNAm) measurements reflecting epigenetic changes caused by anti-cancer therapy may provide needed insights. Given lack of consensus describing utilization of DNAm data to predict survivorship issues, a review evaluating the current landscape is warranted. OBJECTIVE Provide an overview of current studies examining associations of DNAm with survivorship burdens in cancer survivors. METHODS A literature review was conducted including studies if they focused on cohorts of cancer survivors, utilized peripheral blood cell DNAm data, and evaluated the associations of DNAm and survivorship issues. RESULTS A total of 22 studies were identified, with majority focused on breast (n = 7) or childhood cancer (n = 9) survivors, and half studies included less than 100 patients (n = 11). Survivorship issues evaluated included those related to neurocognition (n = 5), psychiatric health (n = 3), general wellness (n = 9), chronic conditions (n = 5), and treatment specific toxicities (n = 4). Studies evaluated epigenetic age metrics (n = 10) and DNAm levels at individual CpG sites or regions (n = 12) for their associations with survivorship issues in cancer survivors along with relevant confounding factors. Significant associations of measured DNAm in the peripheral blood samples of cancer survivors and survivorship issues were identified. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION Studies utilizing epigenetic age metrics and differential methylation analysis demonstrated significant associations of DNAm measurements with survivorship burdens. Associations were observed encompassing diverse survivorship outcomes and timeframes relative to anti-cancer therapy initiation. These findings underscore the potential of these measurements as useful biomarkers in survivorship care and research.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to evaluate the associations between neighborhood income, education, and neighborhood racial composition (measured as a low percentage of white residents) and risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes (DM), and severe depression among survivors of AYA cancer and matched non-cancer peers. METHODS Two-year survivors of AYA cancers diagnosed at age 15-39 yrs at Kaiser Permanente Southern California (diagnosed 2000-2012) and individually matched (1:13) non-cancer subjects were included. The development of CVD, DM, and severe depression was ascertained via electronic health records. Neighborhood characteristics were obtained from census-based geocoded data. Cox regression evaluated associations between neighborhood characteristics and the health outcomes of interest among both the cancer survivors and the non-cancer comparison cohort and effect modification by cancer survivor status on these relationships. RESULTS Among cancer survivors (n = 6774), living in mostly non-white neighborhoods, was associated with risk of CVD (hazard ratio (HR) = 1.54 (95% CI 1.00-2.36)), while lower education level (HR = 1.41 (95% CI 1.02-1.94)) was associated with risk of severe depression. None of the neighborhood characteristics were associated with risk of DM. Effect modification was found for neighborhood education and risk of DM and severe depression. CONCLUSION When jointly considered, cancer survivors who resided in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods were at the highest risk of developing these health outcomes compared to other subgroups. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Our findings may inform screening strategy and addressing social determinants of health among AYA cancer survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multimorbidity is associated with premature mortality and excess health care costs. The burden of multimorbidity is highest among patients with cancer, yet trends and determinants of multimorbidity over time are poorly understood. METHODS Via Medicare claims linked to Cancer Prevention Study II data, group-based trajectory modeling was used to compare National Cancer Institute comorbidity index score trends for cancer survivors and older adults without a cancer history. Among cancer survivors, multinomial logistic regression analyses evaluated associations between demographics, health behaviors, and comorbidity trajectories. RESULTS In 82,754 participants (mean age, 71.6 years [SD, 5.1 years]; 56.9% female), cancer survivors (n = 11,265) were more likely than older adults without a cancer history to experience the riskiest comorbidity trajectories: (1) steady, high comorbidity scores (remain high; odds ratio [OR], 1.36; 95% CI, 1.29-1.45), and (2) high scores that increased over time (start high and increase; OR, 1.51; 95% CI, 1.38-1.65). Cancer survivors who were physically active postdiagnosis were less likely to fall into these two trajectories (OR, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.64-0.84, remain high; OR, 0.42; 95% CI, 0.33-0.53, start high and increase) compared to inactive survivors. Cancer survivors with obesity were more likely to have a trajectory that started high and increased (OR, 2.83; 95% CI, 2.32-3.45 vs. normal weight), although being physically active offset some obesity-related risk. Cancer survivors who smoked postdiagnosis were also six times more likely to have trajectories that started high and increased (OR, 6.86; 95% CI, 4.41-10.66 vs. never smokers). CONCLUSIONS Older cancer survivors are more likely to have multiple comorbidities accumulated at a faster pace than older adults without a history of cancer. Weight management, physical activity, and smoking avoidance postdiagnosis may attenuate that trend.

Abstract
CONTEXT Socioeconomic risk factors have the greatest impact on overall health trajectory. Patients with Medicaid insurance are more likely to experience food insecurity, in addition to poor health and increased health care utilization. Targeted food and produce prescription programs can reduce food insecurity, but sustainable implementation is challenging and evidence demonstrating the impact on clinical utilization outcomes is lacking. PROGRAM In 2021, a cross-sector collaboration between Mecklenburg County Public Health, Reinvestment Partners, and Atrium Health initiated a food prescription program in urban North Carolina. A low-cost mass text message campaign was used to identify and enroll Medicaid-insured patients with a history of emergency department (ED) utilization. METHODS A nonrandomized before/after evaluation design was used with a 12-month data collection window (6 months before/after program enrollment) for 711 patients enrolled between June 2021 and 2022. Changes in the odds of nonadmission ED utilization were modeled using logistic regression, adjusting for race/ethnicity, gender, age, comorbidity, and dose, along with interaction by comorbidity. RESULTS A majority of the sample was non-Hispanic Black (61%; n = 436), female (90%; n = 643), with "none to mild" chronic disease comorbidity (81%; n = 573). The unadjusted and adjusted odds of nonadmission ED utilization significantly reduced between time periods, along with significant interaction by comorbidity. Among the subsamples, patients with "none to mild" comorbidity showed 34% reduction in odds of nonadmission ED utilization (OR = 0.64; 95% CI, 0.47-0.86). DISCUSSION Food prescription programming targeting Medicaid-insured patients may reduce ED utilization, particularly among those without severe comorbidity. Retrospective data collection and sample homogeneity reduced the quality of evidence, but results offer a pragmatic example that can be replicated for further study. Additional research is needed to strengthen the body of evidence and support cross-sector investment in food and produce prescription programming.

Abstract
Background Psychosocial distress is a chronic burden for cancer survivors, which impacts both their quality of life and their oncologic prognosis. Although the national cancer prevention and control program in Ethiopia has made efforts in cancer prevention, control, and management by implementing the national cancer control plan 2016-2020, there was no enough evidence about psychosocial distress among adult cancer patients. So, it is critical to understand the magnitude of psychosocial distress and the factors that contribute to it. Objective The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of psychosocial distress and associated factors among adult cancer patients at oncology units in the Amhara regional state, Ethiopia. 2022. Methods A multicenter institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among a sample of 605 adult cancer patients from 30 April to 22 June 2022. A systematic random sampling technique was employed to select the study units. In addition, data were collected through interviewers administered questionnaires by using the validated and pretested tools. Distress was assessed using the Questionnaire on Stress in Cancer Patients Revised 10. Both bivariable and multivariable logistic regression was used to describe the association between dependent and independent variables. Independent variable with p < 0.25 in the bivariable logistic regression analyses were entered into multivariable logistic regression model. Variables with p < 0.05 in the multivariable logistic regression analyses were considered as statistically significant associated factors of psychosocial distress. Result A total of 593 adult cancer patients took part in this study with mean age of 46.86 ± 14.5 years. The overall prevalence of psychosocial distress was 63.74%. Variables such as being female [AOR = 1.98, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.24-3.17], patients who lives in rural areas (AOR = 2.3, 95% CI: 1.49-3.54), community-based health insurance utilization (AOR = 0.34, 95% CI: 0.23-0.51), patients on chemotherapy treatment (AOR = 2.72, 95% CI: 1.38-5.39), patients with comorbidity (AOR = 3.2, 95% CI: 1.67-6.10), and symptom burdens such as severe fatigue (AOR = 1.65, 95% CI:1.09-2.39) and severe nausea (AOR = 2.07, 95% CI: 1.43-3.00) were statistically associated with psychosocial distress. Conclusion and recommendation In general, the findings of this study showed a relatively high magnitude in which around two-thirds of patients experienced psychosocial distress. It is better to establish and enforce the integration and coordination of psychosocial oncology service programs at national level with parallel guidelines and policies.

Abstract
Development of multimorbidity is common among cancer survivors due to their previous cancer, treatments, or changes in lifestyle. We summarized evidence on the prevalence, patterns, and determinants of multimorbidity among childhood and adult cancer survivors. We searched PubMed and EMBASE databases for articles reporting prevalence, patterns, and determinants of multimorbidity in cancer survivors. Finally, 23/500 articles were included. There was a large variation in the prevalence of multimorbidity (13-89%) among cancer survivors. Bone marrow transplantation, radiation, female sex, lower level of physical activity, increasing age, minority ethnicity, low-income, and low-education were associated with a higher prevalence of multimorbidity. Patterns of multimorbidity were both concordant and discordant. In conclusion, multimorbidity is highly prevalent and a major concern among cancer survivors. A personalized care plan that takes into account the identified risk may be beneficial to reduce the burden of multimorbidity and improve the quality of life among cancer survivors.

Abstract
Aim In addition to the well-known toxicities of treatment, survivors of pediatric solid tumors can also develop other health-related conditions. They may either be an indirect consequence of therapy or could be unrelated to their prior history of malignancy. We aim to evaluate the nontoxicity related health conditions in survivors of pediatric solid tumors. Materials and Methods The study included a cohort of hepatoblastoma (HB), Wilm's tumor (WT), and malignant germ cell tumors (MGCT) survivors registered at pediatric surgical-oncology clinic from 1994 to 2016. Follow-up was done according to standard protocols and children were evaluated at each visit for any health-related conditions. Results Of the survivors, 318 survivors, comprising of 48, 81, and 189 survivors of HB, MGCT, and WT, respectively, were included in the analysis. We found 20.8% of patients with HB, 11.1% of patients with MGCT, and 16.4% of patients with WT to report nontoxicity-related health issues. A high prevalence of surgical conditions (3.4%), secondary malignancies (1.2%), gynecological conditions in girls (16.9%), tuberculosis (1.2%), gallstone disease (0.9%), pelvi-ureteral junction obstruction (0.9%), and neurological issues (0.9%) was noted. Two presumed survivors had died, one due to a late recurrence and the other due to a secondary malignancy. Conclusions A high prevalence of medically or surgically manageable conditions makes it imperative to keep these children under follow-up to address any health-related conditions they may subsequently develop.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multidisciplinary cancer care (neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical cystectomy or trimodality therapy) is crucial for outcome of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), a potentially curable illness. Medicaid expansion through Affordable Care Act (ACA) increased insurance coverage especially among patients of racial minorities. This study aims to investigate the association between Medicaid expansion and racial disparity in timely treatment in MIBC. METHODS This quasi-experimental study analyzed Black and White individuals aged 18-64 years with stage II and III bladder cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical cystectomy or trimodality therapy from National Cancer Database 2008-2018. Primary outcome was timely treatment started within 45 days following cancer diagnosis. Racial disparity is the percentage-point difference between Black and White patients. Patients in expansion and nonexpansion states were compared using difference-in-differences and difference-in-difference-in-differences analyses, controlling for age, sex, area-level income, clinical stage, comorbidity, metropolitan status, treatment type, and year of diagnosis. RESULTS The study included 4991 (92.3% White, n = 4605; 7.7% Black, n = 386) patients. Percentage of Black patients who received timely care increased following the ACA in Medicaid expansion states (54.5% pre-ACA vs 57.4% post-ACA) but decreased in nonexpansion states (69.9% pre-ACA vs 53.7% post-ACA). After adjusting covariates, Medicaid expansion was associated with a net 13.7 percentage-point reduction of Black-White patient disparity in timely receipt of MIBC treatment (95% confidence interval = 0.5% to 26.8%; P < .01). CONCLUSIONS Medicaid expansion was associated with statically significant reduction in racial disparity between Black and White patients in timely multidisciplinary treatment for MIBC.

Abstract
Palliative care teams are increasingly called up to manage chronic pain in cancer survivors. Chronic pain is common in cancer survivors and is heavily influenced by biopsychosocial factors. This study aimed to determine the relative contribution of unique cancer-specific psychosocial factors, pain catastrophizing, and multisite pain to the pain experience in 41 cancer survivors who completed curative cancer treatment. To test the research hypotheses, a series of nested linear regression models were used with likelihood ratio testing to test the individual and collective contribution of cancer-specific psychosocial factors (fear of cancer recurrence, cancer distress, cancer-related trauma), pain catastrophizing, and the number of pain sites on the pain experience. The results indicate pain catastrophizing and multisite pain explained a significant degree of variance in pain interference scores ( P < .001) and pain severity ( P = .005). Cancer-specific psychosocial factors did not significantly predict variability in pain interference ( P = .313) or pain severity ( P = .668) over and above pain catastrophizing and the number of sites of pain. In summary, pain catastrophizing and multisite pain contribute to the chronic cancer-related pain experienced by cancer survivors. Palliative care nurses are well positioned to improve chronic pain among cancer survivors by assessing and treating pain catastrophizing and multisite pain.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most disabling disorders with significant comorbidity and mortality. Incidence and prevalence of CKD in cancer survivors are remarkably high in both adults and pediatric patients. The reasons for this high incidence/prevalence are multifold but kidney damage by cancer itself and cancer treatment (pharmacotherapy/surgery/radiation) are the main reasons. Since cancer survivors commonly have significant comorbidities, risk of cancer recurrence, limited physical function or life expectancy, special attentions should be paid when considering the treatment of CKD and its complications. Especially, shared decision-making should be considered when selecting the renal replacement therapies with as much information/facts/evidence as possible.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lack of safe, reliable, and affordable transportation is a barrier to medical care, but little is known about its association with clinical outcomes. METHODS We identified 28 640 adults with and 470 024 adults without a cancer history from a nationally representative cohort (2000-2018 US National Health Interview Survey) and its linked mortality files with vital status through December 31, 2019. Transportation barriers were defined as delays in care because of lack of transportation. Multivariable logistic and Cox proportional hazards models estimated the associations of transportation barriers with emergency room (ER) use and mortality risk, respectively, adjusted for age, sex, race and ethnicity, education, health insurance, comorbidities, functional limitations, and region. RESULTS Of the adults, 2.8% (n = 988) and 1.7% (n = 9685) with and without a cancer history, respectively, reported transportation barriers; 7324 and 40 793 deaths occurred in adults with and without cancer history, respectively. Adults with a cancer history and transportation barriers, as compared with adults without a cancer history or transportation barriers, had the highest likelihood of ER use (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 2.77, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.34 to 3.27) and all-cause mortality risk (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] = 2.28, 95% CI = 1.94 to 2.68), followed by adults without a cancer history with transportation barriers (ER use aOR = 1.98, 95% CI =1.87 to 2.10; all-cause mortality aHR = 1.57, 95% CI = 1.46 to 1.70) and adults with a cancer history but without transportation barriers (ER use aOR = 1.39, 95% CI = 1.34 to 1.44; all-cause mortality aHR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.54 to 1.65). CONCLUSION Delayed care because of lack of transportation was associated with increased ER use and mortality risk among adults with and without cancer history. Cancer survivors with transportation barriers had the highest risk.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study examined the relationship between the presence of chronic disease conditions and mental and physical health among cancer survivors in the United States. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional analysis utilizing survey data from the 2016-2017 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) on 65,673 eligible cancer survivors. The primary outcomes of interest were self-rated metal/physical health in the past 30 days. Descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression were used to examine the mentioned association. RESULTS 15.3% and 24.8% of survivors reported having several days of poor mental and physical health (14-30 days compared to 0-13 days), and 42.4% of survivors reported having one to two chronic diseases. In multivariate analysis, survivors with one to two chronic diseases were more likely to report several days of poor mental (OR, 2.74; 95% CI, 2.22-3.38) and physical (OR, 1.95; 95% CI, 1.72-2.22) health. Survivors with 3+ chronic diseases had markedly higher odds of having several days of poor mental (OR, 6.41; 95% CI, 5.19-7.91) and physical health (OR, 4.71; 95% CI, 4.16-5.34). Among survivors with at least one chronic disease, older age, insured, and more perceived social/emotional support were negatively associated with mental health (p value <0.05). Similarly, older age was related to fewer days of poor physical health (p value <0.05) regardless of chronic disease conditions. CONCLUSION Having chronic diseases was associated with more days of poor mental and physical health among cancer survivors. Integrated, extensive care should include mental/physical health components and chronic disease management in cancer survivorship care.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A rapid deploy of unexpected early impact of the COVID pandemic in Spain was described in 2020. Oncology practice was revised to facilitate decision-making regarding multimodal therapy for prevalent cancer types amenable to multidisciplinary treatment in which the radiotherapy component searched more efficient options in the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic, minimizing the risks to patients whilst aiming to guarantee cancer outcomes. METHODS A novel Proton Beam Therapy (PBT), Unit activity was analyzed in the period of March 2020 to March 2021. Institutional urgent, strict and mandatory clinical care standards for early diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 infection were stablished in the hospital following national health-authorities' recommendations. The temporary trends of patients care and research projects proposals were registered. RESULTS 3 out of 14 members of the professional staff involved in the PBR intra-hospital process had a positive test for COVID infection. Also, 4 out of 100 patients had positive tests before initiating PBT, and 7 out of 100 developed positive tests along the weekly mandatory special checkup performed during PBT to all patients. An update of clinical performance at the PBT Unit at CUN Madrid in the initial 500 patients treated with PBT in the period from March 2020 to November 2022 registers a distribution of 131 (26%) pediatric patients, 63 (12%) head and neck cancer and central nervous system neoplasms and 123 (24%) re-irradiation indications. In November 2022, the activity reached a plateau in terms of patients under treatment and the impact of COVID pandemic became sporadic and controlled by minor medical actions. At present, the clinical data are consistent with an academic practice prospectively (NCT05151952). Research projects and scientific production was adapted to the pandemic evolution and its influence upon professional time availability. Seven research projects based in public funding were activated in this period and preliminary data on molecular imaging guided proton therapy in brain tumors and post-irradiation patterns of blood biomarkers are reported. CONCLUSIONS Hospital-based PBT in European academic institutions was impacted by COVID-19 pandemic, although clinical and research activities were developed and sustained. In the post-pandemic era, the benefits of online learning will shape the future of proton therapy education.

Abstract
Doxorubicin is a highly effective chemotherapeutic agent widely used to treat a variety of cancers. However, the clinical application of doxorubicin is limited due to its adverse effects on several tissues. One of the most serious side effects of doxorubicin is cardiotoxicity, which results in life-threatening heart damage, leading to reduced cancer treatment success and survival rate. Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity results from cellular toxicity, including increased oxidative stress, apoptosis, and activated proteolytic systems. Exercise training has emerged as a non-pharmacological intervention to prevent cardiotoxicity during and after chemotherapy. Exercise training stimulates numerous physiological adaptations in the heart that promote cardioprotective effects against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. Understanding the mechanisms responsible for exercise-induced cardioprotection is important to develop therapeutic approaches for cancer patients and survivors. In this report, we review the cardiotoxic effects of doxorubicin and discuss the current understanding of exercise-induced cardioprotection in hearts from doxorubicin-treated animals.

Abstract
This rapid review examined current evidence on lifestyle interventions with stress-management or mind-body practices that assessed dietary and/or physical activity outcomes among cancer survivors. Searches were conducted in PubMed, Embase, and PsycINFO based on Cochrane Rapid Reviews Methods Group rapid review recommendations using the keywords "diet," "physical activity," "mind-body," "stress," and "intervention." Of the 3624 articles identified from the initial search, 100 full-text articles were screened, and 33 articles met the inclusion criteria. Most studies focused on post-treatment cancer survivors and were conducted in-person. Theoretical frameworks were reported for five studies. Only one study was tailored for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors, and none included pediatric survivors. Nine studies reported race and/or ethnicity; six reported that ≥90% participants were White. Many reported significant findings for diet and/or physical activity-related outcomes, but few used complete, validated dietary intake methods (e.g., 24-h recall; n = 5) or direct measures of physical activity (e.g., accelerometry; n = 4). This review indicated recent progress on evaluating lifestyle interventions with stress-management or mind-body practices for cancer survivors. Larger controlled trials investigating innovative, theory-based, personalized interventions that address stress and health behaviors in cancer survivors-particularly racial/ethnic minority and pediatric and AYA populations-are needed.

Abstract
Background With improved cancer survival, death from noncancer etiologies, especially cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, has come more into focus. Little is known about the racial and ethnic disparities in all-cause and CVD mortality among U.S. cancer patients. Objectives This study sought to investigate racial and ethnic disparities in all-cause and CVD mortality among adults with cancer in the United States. Methods Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from years 2000 to 2018, all-cause and CVD mortality among patients ≥18 years of age at the time of initial malignancy diagnosis were compared by race and ethnicity groups. The 10 most prevalent cancers were included. Cox regression models were used to estimate adjusted HRs for all-cause and CVD mortality using Fine and Gray's method for competing risks, as applicable. Results Among a total of 3,674,511 participants included in our study, 1,644,067 (44.7%) died, with 231,386 (6.3%) deaths as a result of CVD. After adjusting for sociodemographic and clinical characteristics, non-Hispanic (NH) Black individuals had both higher all-cause (HR: 1.13; 95% CI: 1.13-1.14) and CVD (HR: 1.25; 95% CI: 1.24-1.27) mortality, whereas Hispanic and NH Asian/Pacific Islander had lower mortality than NH White patients. Racial and ethnic disparities were more prominent among patients 18 to 54 years of age and those with localized cancer. Conclusions Significant racial and ethnic differences exist in both all-cause and CVD mortality among U.S. cancer patients. Our findings underscore the vital roles of accessible cardiovascular interventions and strategies to identify high-risk cancer populations who may benefit most from early and long-term survivorship care.

Abstract
PURPOSE Sixty percent of adults have multiple chronic conditions at cancer diagnosis. These patients may require a multidisciplinary clinical team-of-teams, or a multiteam system (MTS), of high-complexity involving multiple specialists and primary care, who, ideally, coordinate clinical responsibilities, share information, and align clinical decisions to ensure comprehensive care needs are managed. However, insights examining MTS composition and complexity among individuals with cancer and comorbidities at diagnosis using US population-level data are limited. METHODS Using SEER-Medicare data (2006-2016), we identified newly diagnosed patients with breast, colorectal, or lung cancer who had a codiagnosis of cardiopulmonary disease and/or diabetes (n = 75,201). Zaccaro's theory-based classification of MTSs was used to categorize clinical MTS complexity in the 4 months following cancer diagnosis: high-complexity (≥ 4 clinicians from ≥ 2 specialties) and low-complexity (1-3 clinicians from 1-2 specialties). We describe the proportions of patients with different MTS compositions and quantify the incidence of high-complexity MTS care by patient groups. RESULTS The most common MTS composition was oncology with primary care (37%). Half (50.3%) received high-complexity MTS care. The incidence of high-complexity MTS care for non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic patients with cancer was 6.7% (95% CI, -8.0 to -5.3) and 4.7% (95% CI, -6.3 to -3.0) lower than non-Hispanic White patients with cancer; 13.1% (95% CI, -14.1 to -12.2) lower for rural residents compared with urban; 10.4% (95% CI, -11.2 to -9.5) lower for dual Medicaid-Medicare beneficiaries compared with Medicare-only; and 16.6% (95% CI, -17.5 to -15.8) lower for colorectal compared with breast cancer. CONCLUSION Incidence differences of high-complexity MTS care were observed among cancer patients with multiple chronic conditions from underserved populations. The results highlight the need to further understand the effects of and mechanisms through which care team composition, complexity, and functioning affect care quality and outcomes.

Application of the Updated WCRF/AICR Cancer Prevention Score as an Outcome for Cancer Survivors Participating in a Tailored and Intensive Dietary and Physical Activity Intervention. Abstract
The World Cancer Research Fund/American Institute for Cancer Research (WCRF/AICR) has defined evidence-based guidelines for cancer prevention. These recommendations have been operationalized into a quantitative index for individual assessment. Survivors of cancer are increasingly desiring guidance for diet and lifestyle, and in the absence of research in survivors, are often instructed to follow cancer prevention and public health guidelines. In this study, we examine the utility of the quantitative updated WCRF/AICR scoring criteria to assess change among cancer survivors with overweight/obesity (OW/OB) following an intensive behavioral intervention. We applied the WCRF/AICR scoring criteria (range 0−7) to examine changes over the duration of the study by paired t-tests. Two cancer survivor cohorts with OW/OB (n = 91) completed a six-month phase II clinical trial designed to improve dietary and physical activity patterns. At enrollment and post-intervention, participants completed assessments including anthropometrics, food frequency questionnaires, and objective evaluation of physical activity. Participants improved adherence to all scored recommendations, with a significant increase in mean score from enrollment (3.22 ± 1.06) to post-intervention (4.28 ± 1.04) (p < 0.001). Mean BMI and waist circumference improved (both p < 0.001). The greatest improvements were noted for fruit and non-starchy vegetable intakes (+39%, p < 0.001); the greatest decreases were observed for processed meat consumption (−70%, p < 0.001). The updated WCRF/AICR Score can be applied to cancer survivor intervention studies and provides a tool to compare trials in regard to the baseline status of populations enrolled and the success of the intervention. Future interventions incorporating standardized assessments will help guide effective strategies to improve the health and quality of life for cancer survivors.

Abstract
PURPOSE Physical activity (PA) in patients with breast cancer is associated with improved quality of life (QoL); however, many breast cancer survivors do not meet the recommended PA level. This study aims to evaluate the effect of digital health interventions using mobile apps to promote PA and QoL in patients with postoperative breast cancer. This study will also identify effective digital intervention methods and perform an economic analysis. The main hypothesis is that the use of mobile healthcare apps will improve health-related quality of life (HRQOL), promote PA, and reduce healthcare costs. METHODS The Promotion of a better lifestyle (PA) with Precise and Practicable digital healthcare in postoperative CANCER patients through a Multi-Disciplinary Network (P4CancerMDnet) study is examined by a prospective 4-group randomized controlled trial with a concurrent cost-utility evaluation. Patients are randomly assigned to 3 different mobile app intervention groups or control groups in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. The intervention group is encouraged to use the assigned mobile app. The targeted outcomes are HRQOL, metabolic health markers, and quality-adjusted life-years. The outcomes will be measured at the 6- and 12-month follow-ups. DISCUSSION This study will contribute towards a better lifestyle and HRQOL through digital healthcare for postoperative breast cancer patients. These findings are expected to provide evidence of the effectiveness of mobile apps for breast cancer survivors. TRIAL REGISTRATION Clinical Research Information Service Identifier: KCT0005447.

Abstract
Simple Summary The aim of this paper is to outline the role and potential benefits of physical activity for cancer patients. We present a review of publications on the subject in order to compare the findings reported in the literature and draw general conclusions that could help clinicians who provide cancer care to develop a more comprehensive treatment approach. This review may also help patients overcome barriers and become more motivated to take up physical activity, which would improve their quality of life. We wish to demonstrate to patients that physical activity should not be regarded as a burdensome medical recommendation but rather as a factor that can reduce the risk of cancer mortality and recurrence. Abstract In 2020, 19.3 million new cancer cases were diagnosed, and almost 10 million deaths from cancer were recorded. Cancer patients may experience fatigue, depression, anxiety, reduced quality of life and sleep problems. Cancer treatments cause numerous side effects and have a negative impact on all body systems. Physical activity is important for cancer patients. The aim of this review is to analyse recent studies on the role of physical activity in cancer patients and emphasize its importance. The review included 36 papers published in English between 2017 and 2021. The findings from these studies show that physical activity decreases the severity of side effects of cancer treatment, reduces fatigue, improves quality of life, has a positive impact on mental health and improves aerobic fitness in cancer patients. Moreover, it reduces the risk of cancer recurrence and death. Physical activity is recommended for patients with any type of cancer and at all stages of treatment. The type of physical activity should depend on the condition of the individual patient. It is extremely difficult to determine what type, intensity and duration of physical activity is likely to have the greatest effect.

Abstract
There are nearly 17 million cancer survivors in the United States, including those who are currently receiving cancer therapy with curative intent and expected to be long-term survivors, as well as those with chronic cancers such as metastatic disease or chronic lymphocytic leukemia, who will receive cancer therapy for many years. Current clinical practice guidelines focus on lifestyle interventions, such as exercise and healthy eating habits, but generally do not address management strategies for clinicians or strategies to increase adherence to medications. We discuss 3 cardiometabolic comorbidities among cancer survivors and present the prevalence of comorbidities prior to a cancer diagnosis, treatment of comorbidities during cancer therapy, and management considerations of comorbidities in long-term cancer survivors or those on chronic cancer therapy. Approaches to support medication adherence and potential methods to enhance a team approach to optimize care of the individual with cancer across the continuum of disease are discussed. Cancer survivors are at increased risk for several chronic conditions, including hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes. Determining optimal management of comorbidities for patients with cancer is critical. A multidisciplinary care approach is recommended throughout the continuum of active cancer treatment and survivorship. Survivorship research should focus on medication adherence and coordination of care.

Abstract
The advent of BTK inhibitors has changed the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). The first-in-class BTK inhibitor ibrutinib has shown remarkable therapeutic effects and manageable toxicities in multiple clinical trials. The second-generation BTK inhibitors, including acalabrutinib and zanubrutinib, also show remarkable efficacies. However, using BTK inhibitors as monotherapies requires continuous treatment. Resistance to BTK inhibitors and severe side effects unavoidably occur during BTK inhibitor monotherapy, frequently resulting in treatment failure. The addition of the BCL2 inhibitor venetoclax to BTK inhibitor may improve the therapeutic effects and result in deeper responses, providing a potential fixed-duration treatment, especially for patients with CLL. In this review, by focusing on CLL and MCL, we discussed the rationale for the combinational use and summarized the current data on the combinations of BTK inhibitors and venetoclax in patients with CLL and MCL.
