Abstract
Dyslipidemia is recognized as one of the most prevalent metabolic disorders and is frequently associated with other prevalent conditions, particularly diabetes mellitus. There appears to be a bidirectional connection between these two metabolic disorders. While considerable research has focused on how insulin resistance can lead to lipid abnormalities, the reverse relationship specifically, how dyslipidemia could assist in developing insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus has received relatively less attention. This review aims to comprehensively evaluate the mechanisms through which dyslipidemia can induce insulin resistance. Dyslipidemia is primarily classified into three main categories: hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and low levels of HDL. These conditions may promote insulin resistance across multiple pathways, including the accumulation of lipid metabolites, dysfunction of pancreatic β-cells, increased reactive oxygen species, endoplasmic reticulum stress and inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, alterations in adiponectin levels, changes in bile acid composition and concentration, and dysbiosis of gut microbiota. However, further investigation is required to fully elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the relationship between lipid disorders and insulin resistance. Emphasizing such research could facilitate the development of therapeutic strategies targeting both conditions simultaneously.

Abstract
Background The progression of multimorbidity in Chinese ageing adults with cardiovascular diseases remains inadequately understood. This study investigates the longitudinal evolution of cardiovascular disease continuum (CVDC)-related multimorbidity patterns in this population. Methods The observational study analyzed medical examination reports from individuals aged 65 and older who underwent regular physical examinations during January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2022 at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Multimorbidity patterns of CVDC were examined. The construction of the multimorbidity network was based on Spearman correlation analyses to visualize the evolution of gender differences. Odds ratios (ORs) for developing multimorbidity in CVDC in compared to non-CVDC were calculated. Survival analysis and multivariate cox proportional hazards regression were performed to estimate the cumulative probability and identify risk factors for multimorbidity. Results A total of 10,052 eligible individuals with 1835 (18.26 %) diagnosed with CVDC at baseline were included. The strongest positive correlation was observed between CVDC and obesity related diseases during both the initial (rmales = 0.208, rfemales = 0.244) and final (rmales = 0.312, rfemales = 0.248) examinations. Survival analysis revealed that the cumulative probability of multimorbidity of metabolic diseases in hypertension, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis had increased over time; the corresponding adjusted HRs (95 % CIs) were 1.322 (1.219, 1.433), 1.553 (1.413, 1.706), and 1.460 (1.361, 1.567), respectively. The increasing risks of CVDC-related multimorbidity were primarily attributable to salty dietary habit (AHR = 1.336, 95 % CI: 1.239, 1.411). Conclusions Multimorbidity patterns and disease networks associated with CVDC have become more complex over time, especially with metabolic diseases. A high-salty diet significantly increased the risk of CVDC-related multimorbidity.

Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is characterized by a high level of blood lipid which poses a serious threat to human health. Coix seed is a traditional crop of medicine and food homology with a wide range of pharmacological actions. To make clear the attenuation effect of coix seed against hyperlipidemia, low and high doses of coix seed extract (CSE) were orally administered to hyperlipidemia model mice developed by high-fat diet (HFD). Our results showed that CSE notably improved liver pathological injury, and oxidative stress, and declined the levels of glucose and lipid in hyperlipidemia mice. Liver metabolomics showed that lipid-related metabolites notably decreased, and pathways of glycolipid metabolism were seriously affected by CSE intervention. Moreover, 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that CSE treatment notably increased the diversity of gut microbiota. Meanwhile, the microbiota with the function of regulating intestinal balance as well as relieving obesity and nervous diseases significantly enhanced while harmful flora notably decreased after CSE intervention. The results of network pharmacology and molecular docking indicated that the PPAR signaling pathway may be the core path of anti-hyperlipidemia for coix seeds. RT-qPCR further verified that the expression levels of genes from the PPAR pathway notably changed by CSE treatment with fat synthesis genes significantly decreased while lipolysis genes notably enhanced. Therefore, coix seed might be a potential candidate for the treatment of hyperlipidemia.

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is an association of risk factors that share insulin resistance (IR), exerting a super cumulative effect on the risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases. Lifestyle optimization is a key element in the prevention and non-pharmacological therapy of MetS. Certain studies have concluded that some dietary patterns could be more beneficial as an adjunctive treatment for MetS. Fasting mimicking diet (FMD) is a form of periodic fasting in which caloric intake is restricted for 5 days each month. It has been studied for its beneficial effects not only in patients with neoplasia and neurodegenerative diseases but also for its effects on IR and metabolism. In this narrative review, the effects of FMD in patients with MetS were analyzed, focusing on its impact on key metabolic components and summarizing findings from human studies. FMD has demonstrated beneficial effects on MetS by reducing BMI and waist circumference, preserving lean mass, and improving the metabolic profile. Moreover, individuals with a higher BMI or a greater number of MetS components appear to derive greater benefits from this intervention. However, limitations such as high dropout rates, small sample sizes, and methodological constraints restrict the generalizability of current findings. Further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these effects and establish FMD as a viable non-pharmacological strategy for managing MetS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Women with higher educational attainment have a higher risk of developing breast cancer (BC). Despite the acknowledged impact of reproductive and lifestyle factors, some excess risks remain unexplained. Many studies support the hypothesis that education has a distinctive effect on physiological processes associated with health, independently of known risk factors. OBJECTIVES In this study, we aimed to determine whether the biological embodiment of education could be part of the observed social inequalities in BC risk. We focused on biomarkers from several physiological systems examined individually, and jointly through a biological health score (BHS). DESIGN Prospective cohort study. SETTING This study, based on a subsample of the French E3N cohort, included women with biological data from four nested case-control studies. PARTICIPANTS The study included 3048 postmenopausal women (17% BC). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES We first evaluated the association between educational attainment and each biomarker, separately (N=11) and by combining them into a BHS, indicative of an augmented biological health hazard when elevated. Finally, we explored the relationships between the socially patterned biomarkers and BHS, and risk of incident BC. RESULTS Women with higher educational attainment exhibited a lower BHS in comparison to those with lower educational attainment (βhigh education=-0.21 (95% CI -0.42; 0.01), model 2). Specific biomarkers associated with the cardiovascular (systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL)), inflammatory (C reactive protein (CRP)) and hormonal systems (sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and oestradiol) were found socially distributed (OR CRP-high=0.70 (95% CI 0.54; 0.91), OR TG-high=0.79 (95% CI 0.61; 1.04), OR DBP-high=0.69 (95% CI 0.53; 0.90), OR SBP-high=0.57 (95% CI 0.44; 0.74), OR HDL-high=0.79 (95% CI 0.60; 1.03), (OR SHBG-high=0.67 (95% CI 0.52; 0.88), OR oestradiol-high=1.34 (95% CI 1.00; 1.79); model 1). Associations persisted after adjustment for cofounders and a large set of potential mediators for two of the investigated cardiovascular markers (OR DBP-high=0.75 (95% CI 0.57; 1.00), OR SBP-high=0.61 (95% CI 0.46; 0.81); model 2). No associations were found between the socially stratified biomarkers and BHS with risk of BC. CONCLUSION Educational attainment has a direct impact on biological processes suggesting that the biological embodiment of the social environment could be a potential pathway that mediates the association between educational attainment and health. Further studies are needed to specifically investigate the relationships between socially stratified biomarkers and BC risk.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common degenerative disease worldwide, with no practical means of prevention and limited treatment options. Recently, our group unveiled a novel mechanism contributing to OA pathogenesis in association with abnormal cholesterol metabolism in chondrocytes. In this study, we aimed to establish a clinical link between lipid profiles and OA in humans, assess the effectiveness of cholesterol-lowering drugs in suppressing OA development in mice, and uncover the cholesterol-lowering mechanisms that effectively impede OA progression. METHODS Five clinically approved cholesterol-lowering drugs (fenofibrate, atorvastatin, ezetimibe, niacin, and lomitapide) were injected into the knee joints or administered with diet to mice with OA who underwent destabilization of the medial meniscus induction and were fed a 2% high-cholesterol diet. Gene expression linked to cholesterol metabolism was determined using microarray analysis. Furthermore, the in vivo functions of these genes were explored through intra-articular injection of either its inhibitor or adenovirus. RESULTS Logistic regression analysis confirmed a close relationship between the diagnostic criteria of hyperlipidemia based on serum lipid levels and OA incidence. Among the cholesterol-lowering drugs examined, fenofibrate exerted the most significant protective effect against cartilage destruction, which was attributed to elevated levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol that are crucial for cholesterol efflux. Notably, cholesterol efflux was suppressed during OA progression via down-regulation of apolipoprotein A1-binding protein (AIBP) expression. Overexpression of AIBP effectively inhibits OA progression. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that restoration of cholesterol homeostasis to a normal state through administration of fenofibrate or AIBP overexpression, both of which induce cholesterol efflux, offers an effective therapeutic option for patients with OA.

Abstract
Background/Objectives: LL-37 is associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS), a constellation of risk factors comprising obesity, insulin resistance (IR), dyslipidemia, and hypertension, which elevates the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Methods: In this narrative review, we analyzed the literature focusing on recent developments in the relationship between cathelicidin and various components of MetS to provide a comprehensive overview. Results: Studies have shown that LL-37 is linked to inflammation in adipose tissue (AT) and the development of IR in obesity. Cathelicidin can enhance inflammation by activating pro-inflammatory genes, as well as modulate the inflammatory response. The mechanisms of IR include the activation of complex signaling pathways that induce inflammation and reduce insulin signaling in adipocytes. The activation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) by cathelicidin stimulates the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, contributing to the disruption of insulin function in adipose cells. Cathelicidin also influences lipid metabolism, with recent research showing a negative relationship between LL-37 levels and HDL cholesterol. Therefore, LL-37 is involved not only in the regulation of inflammation but also in lipid metabolism, potentially aggravating the cardiovascular complications associated with MetS. Conclusions: Cathelicidin plays a crucial role in regulating the balance between inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses in MetS. Understanding the impact of LL-37 on these mechanisms may unveil novel approaches for addressing MetS and its associated complications.

Abstract
Atherosclerosis is an autoimmune disease characterized by lipid imbalances and chronic inflammation within blood vessels, with limited preventive and treatment options currently available. In this study, a vaccine prepared with COL6A6 peptide (named the Pep_A6 vaccine) was administered to immunize Apoe-/- mice, and the immune mechanism of the Pep_A6 vaccine against atherosclerosis was first investigated. The results of arterial oil red O staining demonstrated that the Pep_A6 vaccine significantly reduced the atherosclerotic plaque area in Apoe-/- mice fed with a high-fat diet for 20 weeks. A flow cytometry analysis revealed that the Pep_A6 vaccine inhibited Th1 cell differentiation and increased the proportion of Treg cells. Furthermore, there was a significant increase in Ly6Clow monocytes observed in the vaccinated group. The ELISA results showed that the Pep_A6 vaccine induced a significant expression of Pep_A6-specific antibody IgG and IgG1 in mouse serum. Additionally, we found that the Pep_A6 vaccine significantly decreased serum LDL-C content and regulated the expression of genes related to liver lipid metabolism. Together, our findings suggest that the Pep_A6 vaccine alleviates atherosclerosis by inducing a positive immune response and regulating lipid metabolism, providing new insights into potential prevention strategies for atherosclerosis as an innovative vaccine.

Abstract
Objective Nutritional status is closely associated with the prognosis of heart failure. This study aims to assess the relationship between the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score and in-hospital mortality among patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) in Jiangxi, China. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted. Multivariable Cox regression models and restricted cubic spline regression were employed to evaluate the relationship between the CONUT score and in-hospital mortality in ADHF patients from Jiangxi, China. The predictive value of the CONUT score for in-hospital mortality in ADHF patients was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curves. Subgroup analyses were performed to identify risk dependencies of the CONUT score in specific populations. Results The study included 1,230 ADHF patients, among whom 44 (3.58%) mortality events were recorded. After adjusting for confounding factors, a positive correlation was found between the CONUT score and the risk of in-hospital mortality in ADHF patients. Restricted cubic spline regression analysis indicated a non-linear relationship between the CONUT score and the risk of in-hospital mortality in ADHF patients, estimating a rapid increase in mortality risk when the CONUT score exceeded 5. Receiver operating characteristic analysis demonstrated a good predictive value of the CONUT score for all-cause mortality events in ADHF patients [area under the curve = 0.7625, optimal threshold = 5.5]. Additionally, a relatively higher risk associated with the CONUT score was observed in male patients and those with concomitant cerebral infarction. Conclusion This study reveals a positive correlation between the CONUT score and the risk of in-hospital mortality in ADHF patients. Based on the findings of this study, we recommend maintaining a CONUT score below 5 for patients with ADHF in Jiangxi, China, as it may significantly contribute to reducing the risk of in-hospital all-cause mortality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dietary habits have a strong association with body lipid levels and hyperlipidemia increases the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Dietary habits have been a major concern among medical students due to busy schedules and demanding tasks. This study was designed to know the dietary habits and lifestyle of medical students and its association with their lipid profile. METHODS We recruited 120 medical students at clerkship of the age of 18 and above. Weekly dietary habits were evaluated by an 18-item questionnaire. Five ml blood was drawn from the students and lipid profiles were measured at Dow Diagnostic Research and Reference Laboratory (DDRRL). Data was analyzed by SPSS V.22. RESULTS We found 70% of students were not involved in any physical activity throughout the week. Only 15.83% were following a regular diet plan. 65% of students were eating junk food for more than 3 days a week in their weekly diet. Moreover, 19.2%, 39.2%, 32.5%, and 25.84% of students were having their total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL levels above the optimum ranges respectively which were frequently found in students of final year (p < 0.05). There was high total cholesterol and LDL in males as compared to females (p value < 0.05). Total cholesterol and LDL were associated with skipped meal, use of junk food and carbonated drinks for more than 3 days a week (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION There was a notable number of students with poor dietary habits, inactive lifestyle and lipid levels above the optimum ranges defined by American Heart Association (AHA) that have an association with dietary habits. This is alarming and can impact the health of future healthcare workers. There is a need to investigate the factors and remedies to help medical students to follow a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a common noncommunicable disease. In the United States alone, 37 million Americans had diabetes in 2017. The adzuki bean (Vigna angularis), a legume, has been reported to possess antidiabetic benefits. However, the extent and specific mechanisms through which adzuki bean consumption may contribute to T2D prevention and management remain unclear. Therefore, the aim of this narrative review is to analyze current evidence supporting the utilization of adzuki beans in the diet as a strategy for preventing and managing T2D. Animal studies have demonstrated a positive impact of adzuki beans on managing T2D. However, supporting data from humans are limited. Conversely, the potential of adzuki bean consumption in preventing T2D via modulating two T2D risk factors (obesity and dyslipidemia) also lacks conclusive evidence. Animal studies have suggested an inconsistent and even contradictory relationship between adzuki bean consumption and the management of obesity and dyslipidemia, in which both positive and negative relationships are reported. In sum, based on the existing scientific literature, this review found that the effects of adzuki bean consumption on preventing and managing T2D in humans remain undetermined. Consequently, human randomized controlled trials are needed to elucidate the potential benefits of the adzuki bean and its bioactive components in the prevention and management of T2D.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Qinlian Hongqu decoction (QLHQD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula. It has previously been found to mitigate hyperlipidemia, although its mechanism requires further clarification. AIM OF THE STUDY This study explored QLHQD's mechanism in treating hyperlipidemia based on network pharmacology and experimental validation. MATERIALS AND METHODS The components of QLHQD were analyzed by means of ultrahigh performanceliquid chromatography-quadrupole/orbitrapmass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-HRMS) and the targets of hyperlipidemia were predicted using the Swiss ADME, GeneCards, OMIM, DrugBank, TTD, and PharmGKB databases. A drug-component-target-disease network was constructed using Cytoscape v3.7.1. Moreover, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analyses were performed using the Bioinformatics platform. Based on the KEGG results, the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease signaling pathways were selected for experimental validation in an animal model. RESULTS We identified 34 components of QLHQD, 94 targets of hyperlipidemia, and 18 lipid metabolism-related pathways from the KEGG analysis. The results of the animal experiment revealed that QLHQD alleviated lipid metabolism disorders, obesity, insulin resistance, and inflammation in rats with hyperlipidemia induced by high-fat diets. Additionally, it reduced the expression of IRE1-α, TRAF2, IKKB-β, and NF-κB proteins in the liver of hyperlipidemic rats. CONCLUSION QLHQD is able to significantly mitigate hyperlipidemia induced via high-fat diets in rats. The mechanism of action in this regard might involve regulating the IRE1-α/IKKB-β/NF-κB signaling pathway in the liver, thereby attenuating inflammatory responses and insulin resistance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dyslipidemia is important because of its association with various metabolic complications. Numerous studies have sought to obtain scientific evidence for managing dyslipidemia patients. OBJECTIVES This study aims to identify differences in the nutritional traits of dyslipidemia subjects based on metabolite patterns. METHODS Dyslipidemia (n = 73) and control (n = 80) subjects were included. Dyslipidemia was defined as triglycerides ≥200 mg/dL, total cholesterol ≥240 mg/dL, low density lipoprotein cholesterol ≥160 mg/dL, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol <40 mg/dL (men) or 50 mg/dL (women), or lipid-lowering medicine use. Nontargeted metabolomics based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry identified plasma metabolites, and K-means clustering was used to reconstitute groups based on the similarity of metabolomic patterns across all subjects. Then, with eXtreme Gradient Boosting, metabolites significantly contributing to the new grouping were selected. Statistical analysis was conducted to analyze traits demonstrating appreciable differences between the groups. RESULTS Dyslipidemia subjects were divided into 2 groups based on whether they were (n = 24) or were not (n = 56) in a similar metabolic state as the controls by K-means clustering. The considerable contribution of 4 metabolites (3-hydroxybutyrylcarnitine, 2-octenal, 1,3,5-heptatriene, and 5β-cholanic acid) to this new subset of dyslipidemia was confirmed by eXtreme Gradient Boosting. Furthermore, fiber intake was significantly higher in dyslipidemia subjects whose metabolic state was similar to that of the control than in the dissimilar group (P = 0.002). Moreover, significant correlations were observed between the 4 metabolites and fiber intake. Regression analysis determined that the ideal cutoff for fiber intake was 17.28 g/d. CONCLUSIONS Dyslipidemia patients who consume 17.28 g/d or more of dietary fiber may maintain similar metabolic patterns to healthy individuals, with substantial effects on the changes in the concentrations of 4 metabolites. Our findings could be applied to developing dietary guidelines for dyslipidemia patients.

Abstract
Lipidomics studies have indicated an association between obesity and lipid metabolism dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate and compare cardiometabolic risk factors, and the lipidomic profile in adults and older people. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 72 individuals, divided into two sex and age-matched groups: obese (body mass index-BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2; n = 36) and non-obese (BMI < 30 kg/m2; n = 36). The lipidomic profiles were evaluated in plasma using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy. Obese individuals had higher waist circumference (p < 0.001), visceral adiposity index (p = 0.029), homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (p = 0.010), and triacylglycerols (TAG) levels (p = 0.018). 1H-NMR analysis identified higher amounts of saturated lipid metabolite fragments, lower levels of unsaturated lipids, and some phosphatidylcholine species in the obese group. Two powerful machine learning (ML) models-k-nearest neighbors (kNN) and XGBoost (XGB) were employed to characterize the lipidomic profile of obese individuals. The results revealed metabolic alterations associated with obesity in the NMR signals. The models achieved high accuracy of 86% and 81%, respectively. The feature importance analysis identified signal at 1.50-1.60 ppm (-CO-CH2-CH2-, Cholesterol and fatty acid in TAG, Phospholipids) to have the highest importance in the two models.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The long-term excessive intake of exogenous cholesterol can lead to abnormally elevated blood lipid levels and induce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. However, the influence and relevance of exogenous cholesterol on plasma cholesterol components were still unclear, and the influence on intestinal lipid metabolism targets needs to be further explored. METHODS In vivo, the C57BL/6 + NF group and ApoE-/- + NF group mice were fed a normal specific pathogen-free (SPF) diet; the ApoE-/- + HF group mice were fed a high-cholesterol SPF diet. The plasma and jejunum tissue homogenate were obtained for non-targeted lipid metabolomics. The lipid droplets in tissues were observed by transmission electron microscope and oil red O staining. Jejunum tissue morphology was observed by HE staining. The kits were used to detect lipid content in plasma, tissues, intestinal contents, and cells. Western blot, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) were used to observe the key target of lipid metabolism. In vitro, the final concentration of cholesterol was 100 μmol/L in Caco-cells. Oil red O staining, western blot, RT-PCR and immunofluorescence (IF) were used to observe the changes of lipid metabolism. Finally, the influence of liver X receptor alpha (LXRα) on intestinal cholesterol metabolism was clarified by applying the LXRα inhibitor GSK2033 and siRNA targeting LXRα. RESULTS The aortic arch and intestinal villi of the two groups of ApoE-/- mice showed apparent lesions and lipid accumulation, and there were significant changes in a variety of lipids in the plasma and jejunum. Additionally, jejunum LXRα was markedly activated. High cholesterol can significantly activate LXRα in Caco-2 cells. After LXRα was inhibited, the protein level of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1/G5/G8 (ABCA1/G5/G8) decreased, and the quantity and volume of intracellular lipids soared. CONCLUSION In a high-cholesterol environment, the intestine promotes the excretion of cholesterol from the cell through the LXRα-ABCA1/G5/G8 pathway, reduces the intestinal intake of a variety of exogenous cholesterol, and reduces the risk of AS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The role of dyslipidemia in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNENs) is unclear. The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of serum lipid spectrum in PanNENs, and the effect of the variation in lipid profile on the development of PanNENs clinicopathological features and prognosis. METHODS All PanNENs patients between November 2012 and September 2020 in the authors' research center were identified from patient medical records and databases. A total of 185 with PanNENs patients were ultimately included in this study, including 100 nonfunctional PanNENs and 85 insulinomas. Clinicopathologic features, serum lipid level and overall survival results were retrospectively analyzed using statistical methods. RESULTS In 185 PanNENs, 95 (51.4%) patients appear to have dyslipidemia. Patients with insulinoma had a lower proportion of abnormal HDL than those with nonfunctional PanNENs (10.6% vs 23%, P=0.026). The mean serum HDL levels of insulinomas were 0.131 mmol/L higher than the NF-PanNENs (1.306 ± 0.324 vs 1.175 ± 0.315, P=0.006). In multivariate logistic analysis, high levels of HDL are negatively correlated to tumor size (OR 0.233, 95% CI: 0.069-0.790, P=0.019), but HDL was not associated with pathological grade or metastasis. And a correlation has been found between hypercholesterolemia and the original location of the tumor (OR:0.224, 95%CI: 0.066-0.753, P =0.016). In addition, the outcome of the survival analysis revealed that dyslipidemia did not influence the prognosis of PanNENs patients (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS HDL was negatively correlated with the tumor size of PanNENs. The serum HDL level of insulinoma patients is higher than nonfunctional PanNENs.

Abstract
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a complex disease with metabolic and functional changes that can alter an individual's proteome. An LC-MS/MS analytical method, in an HDMSE system, was used to identify differentially expressed proteins in the high abundance protein-depleted serum of T1D patients and healthy controls. Samples were processed in Progenesis QI for Proteomics software. A functional enrichment of the proteins was performed with Gene Ontology and ToppGene, and the interactions were visualized by STRING 11.5. As a result, 139 proteins were identified, 14 of which were downregulated in the serum of patients with T1D compared to controls. Most of the differentially expressed proteins were shown to be involved with the immune system, inflammation, and growth hormone stimulus response, and were associated with the progression of T1D. Differential protein expression data showed for the first-time changes in CPN2 expression levels in the serum of patients with T1D. Our findings indicate that these proteins are targets of interest for future investigations and for validation of protein biomarkers in T1D.

Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is confirmed to be associated with several health problems that include the combination of diabetes mellitus, obesity, and hypertension, ie, metabolic syndrome. Although the lipid-lowering therapy is an effective treatment in hyperlipidemia and its related cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the persistence of high atherosclerotic risk is notable which could not be simply explained as a phenomenon of hyperlipidemia. Concerning on this notion, it is imperative to identify novel biomarkers which could monitor treatment and predict adverse cardiovascular events. It is demonstrated that the chronic inflammatory response caused by immune cells is a characteristic of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis. Notably, among several inflammatory related cytokines, interleukin 38 (IL-38), as a member of the IL-1 family, plays an important role in anti-inflammatory response by binding with its receptor which inhibits the downstream signaling pathways. In addition, IL-38 suppresses the expression of inflammatory factors mainly through the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). At the cellular level, IL-38 could inhibit the CD4 positive T lymphocyte into T-helper 17 (Th-17) lymphocyte which further enhances the immunosuppressive activity of the T-regulatory lymphocyte (T-reg) to inhibit the inflammatory response. Consistently, IL-38 is shown to be strongly correlated to development of hyperlipidemic related CVDs. In this review, the roles of IL-38 in the development of hyperlipidemia are fully summarized. Furthermore, a theoretical basis for further in-depth research of IL-38 for treatment of hyperlipidemia is also provided.
