Abstract
Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic has placed nurses at the forefront of healthcare, exposing them to various mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However the long-term effects and risk factors of the COVID-19 pandemic on nurses' mental health are unknown. The objective of our study is to investigate the enduring impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the psychological distress and PTSD of nurses, while also identifying the factors that influence these outcomes. Methods To investigate this question, we conducted a self-reported questionnaire survey of 8785 registered nurses recruited using snowball sampling methodology from 22 provinces in China, at five time points (T0-T4). At all times, we took measures of general health, while at the last four times we also measured PTSD. And we used logistic regression analysis to explore their impacts. Results The incidence of whole levels psychological distress among nurses was 27.7% at T0, peaking at 57.6% at T4. For severe psychological distress, it began at 5.5% at T0 and rose to 9.5% at T4. PTSD rates among nurses were recorded at 7.8% in T1, reaching a maximum of 14.7% in T4. They all got progressively worse in the volatility. In all times, coping strategies are independent factors for various levels of psychological distress and PTSD, while social support is a key factor for severe psychological distress and PTSD. Conclusions Our findings indicated a gradual deterioration in the mental health of nurses following the COVID-19 outbreak. In all instances, coping strategies exhibit an independent correlation with all grades of psychological distress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), whereas social support emerges as an independent protective factor mitigating the risk of severe psychological distress and PTSD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND During epidemics, the number of individuals whose mental health is affected is greater than those affected by the infection itself. This is because psychological factors have a direct relationship with the primary causes of the disease and mortality worldwide. Therefore, an increasing investment in research and strategic actions for mental health is essential globally, given the prevalence of infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to elucidate and describe the strategies for mental health preparedness and response during epidemics, with a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran. METHODS A qualitative study was conducted in Iran from 2022 to 2023. Purposeful Sampling was employed, continuing until data saturation was achieved. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews and observational notes with 20 managers and experts possessing expertise, experience, and knowledge in mental health. Ultimately, the participants' opinions, based on their experiences, were analyzed using the qualitative content analysis method with a conventional approach, resulting in the categorization of data into codes, subcategories, and categories. RESULTS The study revealed participants' opinions and experiences, categorized into two overarching categories: Preparedness, Policy-Making, and Planning Strategies (with four subcategories), and Response Strategies (comprising thirteen subcategories). CONCLUSION The opinions and experiences of managers and experts in this study revealed that an appropriate mental health response during pandemics requires preparedness before the occurrence of such crises and the implementation of suitable response strategies after the occurrence. Managers, policymakers, and decision-makers in this field should pay attention to the solutions derived from the experiences of such crises to respond more preparedly in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is unclear about the mutual impact of COVID-19 related psychological stress and infection on mental health of adolescent and youth students. This study aimed to explore the mutual impact of COVID-19 related psychological stress and infection on mental health problems among students. METHODS This study was conducted from December 14, 2022 to February 28, 2023 in Sichuan, China. Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, PTSD Checklist for DSM-5, Insomnia Severity Index, and Internet Addiction Test were used. Participants were grouped by COVID-19 infection and psychological stress level. The differences among groups were compared, and logistic regression analysis was used to investigate risk factors for depression, anxiety, PTSD and insomnia among groups. RESULTS Of 90,118 participants, 82,873 (92.0 %) finished the questionnaires and were included in the study. Of 82,873 participants, 33,314 (40.2 %) reported to be infected with COVID-19. Participants had depression symptoms (38.1 %), anxiety symptoms (31.8 %), PTSD (33.9 %), insomnia (34.0 %), and internet addiction (60.3 %). Compared with participants uninfected with low psychological stress level, the risk for symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and insomnia increased by 9.6 %, 12.3 %, 6.6 %, and 12.0 % in participants infected with low psychological stress level (p < 0.001), 106.8 %, 125.9 %, 125.2 %, and 95.7 % in participants uninfected with high psychological stress level (p < 0.001), and 147.3 %, 161.1 %, 158.7 %, and 141.0 % in participants infected with high psychological stress level (p < 0.001). LIMITATION This study is a cross-sectional design, and no causal associations should be inferred. Infection status was based on self-report of participants with infectious symptoms. CONCLUSION COVID-19 related psychological stress and infection per se have mutually overlapping impacts on mental health problems among students. Further health policies and psychosocial interventions should be developed to reduce mutually overlapping impact and improve the long-term mental health among students.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected the vulnerable Brazilian population. In this study, we investigated the burden of COVID-19 on caregivers for patients with schizophrenia. OBJECTIVE This study assessed objective and subjective burden of caregivers for patients with schizophrenia during the COVID-19 pandemic and compared the measurements obtained in the study to that before the pandemic. METHODS The study included 50 caregivers who were assessed using the Sociodemographic Questionnaire, and the Family Burden Interview Schedule, Brazilian version (FBIS-BR). An adaptation of the Clinical Global Impression-Improvement (CGI-I) was made, in which caregivers evaluated their 'clinical' impression about the patient during the COVID-19 pandemic in comparison to pre-pandemic mental status. RESULTS Most caregivers were female, aged between 24 and 80 years, who were in contact with the patient for about 88.56 hours/week. In relation to caregiver burden, there was a significant increase in the total subjective burden (p < .001), but not in the total objective burden. The following subjective domains of the burden showed a significant increase: assistance in daily life (p < .001) and worries about patients' present and future life (p = .033). There was a decrease in the objective burden related to supervision of patients' problematic behaviors (p = .031). Although the caregiver's income did not change significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an increase in the percentage of caregivers who perceived the frequency of financial burden imposed by the patient as 'very frequent' and 'always or almost always'; conversely there was a significant decrease in the subjective perception of the caregiver that the patient imposed financially 'no burden' or a 'seldom burden' (from 34% to 4%). CONCLUSION Although the objective burden of the caregivers, during the pandemic, was similar the pre-pandemic levels, caregivers' subjective burden increased reinforcing the need for special attention to the caregiver in this global emergency.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mental health problems have become a public health problem that needs to be solved in China. However, medical resources for mental healthcare remain insufficient and unevenly distributed. The Chinese central government has taken many measures to address this issue over the last decade. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in equity in mental health bed allocation from 2011 to 2020. METHODS The data of this study came from the China Health Statistical Yearbook (2012-2021) and the China National Administrative Division Information Platform. The annual growth rate was used to evaluate the time trends of mental health beds. The Lorenz curve, Gini coefficient and Theil index were used to assess equity in the demographic and geographical dimensions. The distribution of mental health beds was visualized on a map using geographic information system (GIS) software. RESULTS The total number of mental health beds in China increased steadily from 2011 to 2020. At the national level, the Gini coefficient and Theil index all exhibited downward trends over time. The mental health bed allocation in terms of the demographic dimension was relatively equitable, with Gini values all less than 0.3; however, the Gini coefficients by geographical area were all more than 0.6, indicating inequity. Intraregional contribution rates were higher than interregional contribution rates, which were all above 60%. CONCLUSION The overall distribution equity of mental health beds improved from 2011 to 2020. The equity of mental health beds in terms of population size is superior to that in terms of geographical area. Intraregional differences are the main source of inequity. In particular, differences within the western region need to be given attention. Thus, the findings from this study emphasize that the demographic and geographical distributions and all influencing factors should be considered when the government makes mental health resource allocation policies.

Abstract
AbstractIn the field of digital design, a recent hot topic is the study of the interaction between spatial environment design and human factors. Electroencephalogram (EEG) and eye tracking can be used as quantitative analysis methods for architectural space evaluation; however, conclusions from existing studies on improving the quality of spatial environments based on human factors tend to remain qualitative. In order to realise the quantitative optimisation design of spatial elements from human physiological data, this research used the digital space optimisation method and perceptual evaluation research. In this way, it established an optimisation method for built space elements in real-time using human psychological indicators. Firstly, this method used the specific indicators of the Meditation value and Attention value in the human EEG signal, taking the ThinkGear AM (TGAM) module as the optimisation objective, the architectural space colour and the window size as the optimisation object, and the multi-objective genetic algorithm as the optimisation tool. Secondly, this research combined virtual reality scenarios and parametric linkage models to realise this optimisation method to establish a tool platform and workflow. Thirdly, this study took the optimisation of a typical living space as an example and recruited 50 volunteers to participate in an optimisation experiment. The results indicated that with the iterative optimisation of the multi-objective genetic algorithm, the specific EEG index decreases significantly and the standard deviation of the in-dex fluctuates and decreases during the iterative process, which further indicates that the optimisation method established in this study with the specific EEG index as the optimisation objective is effective and feasible. In addition, this study laid the foundation for more EEG indicators and more complex spatial element opti-misation research in the future.

Abstract
Objective The pandemic of COVID-19 continues to challenge people's health worldwide. In the second year of the pandemic, adherence to COVID-19 preventive behavior is key to continuing efforts to overcome the epidemic. This study aims to assess the COVID-19-related knowledge, attitude, and prevention behavior (KAP) and electronic health literacy (eHealth literacy) among Anhui residents in China. Methods From January 30 to March 27, 2021, the cross-sectional study was performed among Anhui residents in China, including 16 cities. An online survey was adopted to assess KAP regarding COVID-19, and eHealth, involving a total of 2,122 citizens. Following informed consent, residents were recruited by convenience sampling. Frequencies and proportions were calculated. Additionally, Mann-Whitney U tests were used to analyze the variables. Independent predictors of preventive behavior of COVID-19 were ascertained using a multivariable logistic regression model. Result Residents demonstrated good knowledge, positive attitudes, acceptable practices, and good eHealth literacy. Online news and WeChat are the main health information resources. Citizens who had good knowledge, a positive attitude, good eHealth, and did not participate in the online lectures or training COVID-19 were more likely to take preventive measures. Those with poor health, who were male, did not have family members working in health care facilities, and did not work in a face-to-face environment were less likely to take precautions. Compared with a master's degree and above, participants with middle school education level and below took preventive behavior sometimes. Residents who browse the COVID-19 webpage <15 min weekly seldom took preventive actions. Conclusion The study showed that in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese residents had adequate knowledge of COVID-19, positive attitudes, appropriate preventive practices, and basic eHealth literacy. To prevent the rebound of the COVID-19 epidemic, the government and health agencies should inform citizens concerning which information channels or websites to use and assist the underprivileged population who lacks basic infrastructure. In addition, increasing the level of knowledge and attitude, enhancing eHealth literacy and the Health Belief Model (HBM), and implementing the Health Code were seen as ways to reinforce adherence to preventive behavior. Targeting men, implementing public awareness campaigns, community engagement strategies, and health education programs are recommended.

Abstract
Background Stress and anxiety are relatively common, particularly in females and college students. Stress can impact students' overall performance and their physical and mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of life and is associated with high levels of psychological distress. It has considerably affected the education sector, not only locally but worldwide, forcing a shift in the education system from on-site to virtual learning. This cross-sectional study was undertaken to evaluate the prevalence of anxiety and stress regarding virtual learning among health sciences college students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) after introducing blended virtual classes and exams and in-person laboratory training. The study was carried six months after the COVID-19 outbreak. Methodology Participants were recruited by convenient sampling and snowballing strategies. Our study was conducted between November 18 and December 6, 2020. Questionnaires were employed; they included the General Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale and focused on the participants' attitudes toward virtual learning. The present research was validated by a pilot study, followed by implementing some amendments. Results A total of 418 health sciences college students, aged 18-27 (M = 20.88, SD = 1.97), participated in the study. Our analysis indicated that more than half the sample (51.44%) reported a risk of moderate to severe GAD. Anxiety was recognized more frequently in women (72.09%) than in men (27.91%). Interestingly, our Χ2 analysis revealed an association between marital status and anxiety, with a higher risk of GAD found in single people (compared with married). In addition, we found that the risk of anxiety increased in junior students (1st-3rd year) compared to senior students (4th-6th year). Conclusion Our study highlights the need to establish gender-based tailored mental health support systems that provide preventive measures. The study findings also recommend that institutions develop programs and platforms that safely support students to interact and seek guidance, particularly those at higher risk of stress, such as females and first-year students. Overall, our study underlines the need to pursue an understanding of the complicated nature of anxiety disorders..
