Abstract
Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC), a cellulose derivative with biocompatibility, edibility, and exceptional solubility in many polar solvents, holds significant potential for biomedical applications. Within a specific concentration range, HPC undergoes self-assembly to form cholesteric liquid crystals, which display distinct structural colors. These colors result from the interaction between incident light and the periodic nano-architecture of HPC, providing long-lasting visual effects that can be dynamically adjusted by factors such as concentration, temperature, and functional additives. This review includes the mechanisms underlying the genesis of structural colors and the regulation of HPCs while summarizing advanced techniques for fabricating HPC-based materials with diverse configurations. Furthermore, through representative examples, we highlight the multifaceted applications of these materials in sensors, bionic skins, drug delivery, and anti-counterfeiting labels. We also propose strategies to address current research and application challenges with the goal of exploring the potential of structural color HPCs for scientific breakthroughs and societal well-being. We hope this review catalyzes HPC-based structural color materials' advancement and future biomedical applications.

Abstract
This review delves into the evolving landscape of mediated drug delivery, focusing on the versatility of a variety of drug delivery vehicles such as microspheres, microbots, and nanoparticles (NPs). The review also expounds on the critical components and mechanisms for light-mediated drug delivery, including photosensitizers and light sources such as visible light detectable by the human eye, ultraviolet (UV) light, shorter wavelengths than visible light, and near-infra-red (NIR) light, which has longer wavelength than visible light. This longer wavelength has been implemented in drug delivery for its ability to penetrate deeper tissues and highlighted for its role in precise and controlled drug release. Furthermore, this review discusses the significance of these drug delivery vehicles towards a spectrum of diverse applications spanning gene therapy, cancer treatment, diagnostics, and microsurgery, and the materials used in the fabrication of these vehicles encompassing polymers, ceramics, and lipids. Moreover, the review analyses the challenges and limitations of such drug delivery vehicles as areas of improvement to provide researchers with valuable insights for addressing current obstacles in the progression of drug delivery. Overall, this review underscores the potential of light-mediated drug delivery to revolutionise healthcare and personalised medicine, providing precise, targeted, and effective therapeutic interventions.

Abstract
Cancer has rapidly emerged as a leading global cause of premature mortality, with significant economic implications projected to reach USD 25.2 trillion from 2020 to 2050. Among the various types of cancer, primary bone cancers, though uncommon, are projected to see nearly 4000 new cases diagnosed in the United States in 2024. The complexity of treating bone cancer arises from its rarity, diversity, and the challenges associated with surgical interventions, metastatic spread, and post-operative complications. Advancements in bone tissue engineering (BTE) have introduced innovative therapeutic approaches to promote bone regeneration and address tumor recurrence. This interdisciplinary field integrates biomaterials, scaffolds, and gene therapy, utilizing technologies such as 3D bioprinting to create custom scaffolds that facilitate cellular activities essential for tissue regeneration. Recent developments in biodegradable, bioactive materials aim to enhance the biocompatibility and effectiveness of scaffolds, while nanotechnology presents promising avenues for targeted drug delivery and improved therapeutic outcomes. This review outlines the current landscape of BTE, highlighting scaffold fabrication techniques, the advantages of incorporating stem cell and gene therapies, and future directions, including the integration of artificial intelligence in scaffold design for personalized medicine in orthopedic oncology. This work underscores the necessity for ongoing research and innovation, aiming to improve therapeutic strategies specifically designed to address the unique challenges posed by bone sarcomas and metastatic cancers.

Abstract
The utilization of structural colors in 3D printing was anticipated due to their eco-friendliness and sustainability. However, the manufacturing of homogeneous structural colors with intricate 3D architectures remains a great challenge, particularly in hydrogels. Herein, we added 0.5 wt% ZnS colloidal spheres supporting Mie scattering into photocurable inks to generate vibrant and homogeneous structural color in the hydrogel, representing 40-100 times decrease of the reported dosage of colloidal spheres in previous work. Through optical simulation, gradient experiments, and evaluation in HSV color space, the ink composition was meticulously optimized for a commercial light-based 3D printer. Our experiments validate the high-throughput manufacturing of structural colored hydrogels with intricate 3D architectures and polychromatic objects, enabling the 1000 prints within 17 min and achieving 200 μm precision. We have also demonstrated the utilization of customizable 3D hydrogels with both structural and luminescent colors, thereby expanding their applications in the multi-channel spatial information encryption.

Abstract
4D printing is a groundbreaking technology that seamlessly integrates additive manufacturing with smart materials, enabling the creation of multiscale objects capable of changing shapes and/or functions in a controlled and programmed manner in response to applied energy inputs. Printing technologies, mathematical modeling, responsive materials, stimuli, and structural design constitute the blueprint of 4D printing, all of which have seen rapid advancement in the past decade. These advancements have opened up numerous possibilities for dynamic and adaptive structures, finding potential use in healthcare, textiles, construction, aerospace, robotics, photonics, and electronics. However, current 4D printing primarily focuses on proof-of-concept demonstrations. Further development is necessary to expand the range of accessible materials and address fabrication complexities for widespread adoption. In this paper, we aim to deliver a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in 4D printing, probing into shape programming, exploring key aspects of resulting constructs including printing technologies, materials, structural design, morphing mechanisms, and stimuli-responsiveness, and elaborating on prominent applications across various fields. Finally, we discuss perspectives on limitations, challenges, and future developments in the realm of 4D printing. While the potential of this technology is undoubtedly vast, continued research and innovation are essential to unlocking its full capabilities and maximizing its real-world impact.

Abstract
Active turbulence, or chaotic self-organized collective motion, is often observed in concentrated suspensions of motile bacteria and other systems of self-propelled interacting agents. To date, there is no fundamental understanding of how geometrical confinement orchestrates active turbulence and alters its physical properties. Here, by combining large-scale experiments, computer modeling, and analytical theory, we have identified a generic sequence of transitions occurring in bacterial suspensions confined in cylindrical wells of varying radii. With increasing the well's radius, we observed that persistent vortex motion gives way to periodic vortex reversals, four-vortex pulsations, and then well-developed active turbulence. Using computational modeling and analytical theory, we have shown that vortex reversal results from the nonlinear interaction of the first three azimuthal modes that become unstable with the radius increase. The analytical results account for our key experimental findings. To further validate our approach, we reconstructed equations of motion from experimental data. Our findings shed light on the universal properties of confined bacterial active matter and can be applied to various biological and synthetic active systems.

Abstract
Magnetic miniature robots have shown great potential in biomedical applications in recent years. However, a challenge remains in which it is difficult for magnetic miniature robots to achieve balanced capabilities for multimodal locomotion and fluidic manipulation in various environments. Here, we report a magnetic shaftless propeller-like millirobot (MSPM) that possesses the capabilities of rotating-based multimodal 3-dimensional motion and cargo transportation with untethered manipulation. The MSPM utilizes the propulsion and pumping capabilities of the propeller structure to achieve fluidic manipulation. The shaftless propeller structures are designed to achieve omnidirectional locomotion through rolling, propelling, and tumbling. Additionally, the shaftless 3-blade propeller is used to perform a pumping function to achieve controllable transportation of fluids and particles. We anticipate that the MSPM holds great potential as a minimally invasive device for thrombosis treatment and targeted medicine delivery.

Abstract
Cancer poses a substantial threat and a serious challenge to public human health, driving the promotion of sophisticated technologies for cancer therapy. While conventional chemotherapy has bottlenecks such as low delivery efficiency, strong toxic side effects, and tumor enrichment barriers, magnetic micro/nanorobots (MNRs) emerge as promising therapeutic candidates that provide alternative strategies for cancer therapy. MNR is a kind of human-made machine that is micro- or nanosized, is reasonably designed, and performs command tasks through self-actuated or externally controlled propulsion mechanisms, which can be potentially applied in cancer theranostics. Here, this review first introduces the components that constitute a typical magnetic MNR, including the body part, the driving part, the control part, the function part, and the sensing part. Subsequently, this review elucidates representative fabrication methods to construct magnetic MNRs from top-down approaches to bottom-up approaches, covering injection molding, self-rolling, melt electrospinning writing, deposition, biotemplate method, lithography, assembling, 3D printing, and chemical synthesis. Furthermore, this review focuses on multiple applications of magnetic MNRs facing cancer diagnosis and treatment, encompassing imaging, quantification, drug release, synergy with typical therapies, cell manipulation, and surgical assistance. Then, this review systematically elaborates on the biocompatibility and biosafety of magnetic MNRs. Finally, the challenges faced by magnetic MNRs are discussed alongside future research directions. This review is intended to provide scientific guidance that may improve the comprehension and cognition of cancer theranostics through the platform of magnetic MNRs, promoting and prospering the practical application development of magnetic MNRs.

Abstract
Humans possess an innate ability to perceive a wide range of objects through touch, which allows them to interact effectively with their surroundings. Similarly, tactile perception in artificial sensory systems enables the acquisition of object properties, human physiological signals, and environmental information. Biomimetic tactile sensors, as an emerging sensing technology, draw inspiration from biological systems and exhibit high sensitivity, rapid response, multimodal perception, and stability. By mimicking biological mechanisms and microstructures, these sensors achieve precise detection of mechanical signals, thereby paving the way for advancements in tactile sensing applications. This review provides an overview of key sensing mechanisms, microstructure designs, and advanced fabrication techniques of biomimetic tactile sensors. The system architecture design of biomimetic tactile sensing systems is also explored. Furthermore, the review highlights significant applications of these sensors in recent years, including texture recognition, human health detection, and human-machine interaction. Finally, the key challenges and future development prospects related to biomimetic tactile sensors are discussed.

Abstract
Light-based three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies are regarded as one of the most promising manufacturing methods. However, 3D printed objects based on free radical polymerization have disadvantages such as anisotropy, poor mechanical strength, and heat resistance and cannot meet the requirements of high-performance applications. This study reports a class of acryloyl-functional benzoxazine exhibiting excellent mechanical properties, heat resistance, and flame retardancy. 3-Acryloyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine (Ph-am) and bis(3-phenyl-(3-acryloyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3)-benzoxazine) (Ba-am) have been synthesized by the Mannich reaction using acrylamide as the amine source. The acryloyl-functional benzoxazine was printed by a DLP printer. Then, the oxazine ring undergoes ring-opening polymerization under a high temperature to form a dense polymer, enabling the printed object to exhibit isotropy. The Mannich bridge and hydrogen-bond structure in polybenzoxazine enhance the mechanical properties and thermal resistance of printed objects. The glass-transition temperature (Tg) and tensile strength of dual-cured Ph-am reach 270 °C and 116.55 MPa, respectively. Meanwhile, after blending modification with tris(2-hydroxyethyl)-isocyanurate triacrylate, hybrid polymer networks have been formed. The tensile strength and Young's modulus of dual-cured P8B2T1 reaches 130.89 MPa and 6.45 GPa, respectively. Moreover, the dual-cured P8B2T1 shows good flame retardancy. This high-performance photosensitive resin has great potential in fields such as aerospace, automotive, and electronics.

Abstract
Nanophotonic devices control and manipulate light at the nanometer scale. Applications include biological imaging, integrated photonic circuits, and metamaterials. The design of these devices requires the accurate modeling of light-matter interactions at the nanoscale and the optimization of multiple design parameters, both of which can be computationally demanding and time intensive. Further, fabrication of these devices demands a high level of accuracy, resolution, and throughput while ideally being able to incorporate multiple materials in complex geometries. To address these considerations in the realization of nanophotonic devices, recent work within our lab has pursued the efficient and accurate modeling of nanoparticles and the assembly of complex 3D micro- and nanostructures using optical tweezers. This Feature Article review highlights these developments as well as related efforts by others in computation and fabrication methods related to nanophotonic devices and metamaterials.

Abstract
In light of the ongoing technological transformation, embracing advancements that foster shared benefits is essential. Nanorobots, a breakthrough within nanotechnology, have demonstrated significant potential in fields such as medicine, where diagnostic and therapeutic applications are the primary focus areas. This review provides a comprehensive overview of nanotechnology, robots, and their evolving role in medical applications, particularly highlighting the use of nanorobots. Various design strategies and operational principles, including sensors, actuators, and nanocontrollers, are discussed based on prior research. Key nanorobot medical applications include biomedical imaging, biosensing, minimally invasive surgery, and targeted drug delivery, each utilizing advanced actuation technologies to enhance precision. The paper further examines recent progress in micro/nanorobot actuation and addresses important considerations for the future, including biocompatibility, control, navigation, delivery, targeting, safety, and ethical implications. This review offers a holistic perspective on how nanorobots can reshape medical practices, paving the way for precision medicine and improved patient outcomes.

Abstract
Microrobots with different structures can exhibit multiple propulsion mechanisms under external magnetic fields. Swarms dynamically assembled by microrobots inherit the advantages of single microrobots, such as degradability and small dimensions, while also offering benefits like scalability and high flexibility. With control of magnetic fields, these swarms demonstrate diverse propulsion mechanisms and can perform precise actions in complex environments. Therefore, the relationship between single microrobots and their swarms is a significant area of study. This paper reviews the relationship between single microrobots and swarms by examining the structural design, control methods, propulsion mechanisms, and practical applications. At first, we introduce the structural design of microrobots, including materials and manufacturing methods. Then, we describe magnetic field generation systems, including gradient, rotating, and oscillating magnetic fields, and their characteristics. Next, we analyze the propulsion mechanisms of individual microrobots and the way microrobots dynamically assemble into a swarm under an external magnetic field, which illustrates the relationship between single microrobots and swarms. Finally, we discuss the application of different swarm propulsion mechanisms in water purification and targeted delivery, summarize current challenges and future work, and explore future directions.

Abstract
Magnetic microrobots, designed to navigate the complex environments of the human body, show promise for minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment. However, their clinical adoption faces hurdles such as biocompatibility, precise control, and intelligent tracking. Here a novel formulation (referred to water-stable magnetic lipiodol micro-droplets, MLMD), integrating clinically approved lipiodol, gelatin, and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) with a fundamental understanding of the structure-property relationships is presented. This formulation demonstrates multiple improved properties including flowability, shape adaptability, efficient drug loading, and compatibility with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) imaging in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. This enables the MLMD as a versatile tool for image-guided therapy, supported by a close-looped magnetic navigation system featuring artificial intelligence (AI)-driven visual feedback for autonomous control. The system effectively performs navigational tasks, including pinpointing specific locations of MLMD, recognizing and avoiding obstacles, mapping and following predetermined paths, and utilizing magnetic fields for precise motion planning to achieve visual drug delivery. The MLMD combines magnetic actuation with an AI-directed close-looped navigation, offering a transformative platform for targeted therapeutic delivery.

Abstract
Drug delivery systems (DDSs) are increasingly important in ensuring drug safety and enhancing therapeutic efficacy. Micro/nano-technology has been utilized to develop DDSs for achieving high stability, bioavailability, and drug efficiency, as well as targeted delivery; meanwhile, 3D printing technology has made it possible to tailor DDSs with diverse components and intricate structures. This review presents the latest research progress integrating 3D printing technology and micro/nano-technology for developing novel DDSs. The technological fundamentals of 3D printing technology supporting the development of DDSs are presented, mainly from the perspective of different 3D printing mechanisms. Distinct types of DDSs leveraging 3D printing and micro/nano-technology are analyzed deeply, featuring micro/nanoscale materials and structures to enrich functionalities and improve effectiveness. Finally, we will discuss the future directions of 3D-printed DDSs integrated with micro/nano-technology, focusing on technological innovation and clinical application. This review will support interdisciplinary research efforts to advance drug delivery technology.

Abstract
Liver tissue engineering holds promising in synthesizing or regenerating livers, while the design of functional scaffold remains a challenge. Owing to the intricate simulation of extracellular matrix structure and performance, porous scaffolds have demonstrated advantages in creating liver microstructures and sustaining liver functions. Currently, various methods and processes have been employed to fabricate porous scaffolds, manipulating the properties and morphologies of materials to confer them with unique supportive functions. Additionally, scaffolds must also facilitate tissue growth and deliver cells, possessing therapeutic or regenerative effects. In this review, it is initially outline typical procedures for fabricating porous scaffolds and showcase various morphologies of microstructures. Subsequently, it is delved into the forms of cell loading in porous scaffolds, including scaffold-based, scaffold-free, and synergetic or bioassembly approaches. Lastly, the utilization of porous scaffolds in liver diseases, offering significant insights and future implications for liver regeneration research in tissue engineering is explored.

Abstract
Vascular tissue engineering faces significant challenges in creating in vitro vascular disease models, implantable vascular grafts, and vascularized tissue/organ constructs due to limitations in manufacturing precision, structural complexity, replicating the composited architecture, and mimicking the mechanical properties of natural vessels. Light-based 3D bioprinting, leveraging the unique advantages of light including high resolution, rapid curing, multi-material adaptability, and tunable photochemistry, offers transformative solutions to these obstacles. With the emergence of diverse light-based 3D bioprinting techniques and innovative strategies, the advances in vascular tissue engineering have been significantly accelerated. This review provides an overview of the human vascular system and its physiological functions, followed by an in-depth discussion of advancements in light-based 3D bioprinting, including light-dominated and light-assisted techniques. We explore the application of these technologies in vascular tissue engineering for creating in vitro vascular disease models recapitulating key pathological features, implantable blood vessel grafts, and tissue analogs with the integration of capillary-like vasculatures. Finally, we provide readers with insights into the future perspectives of light-based 3D bioprinting to revolutionize vascular tissue engineering.

Abstract
Two-photon polymerization (TPP) as an unparalleled technology empowers the rapid prototyping of customized three-dimensional (3D) micro/nanostructures, garnering noticeable interest in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and regenerative medicine. These applications have a high requirement on the biocompatibility and integrity of 3D structures. Therefore, it is important to develop two-photon initiator with good water-solubility, initiation efficiency, and biocompatibility. Here, we share our insights into the development of a water-soluble two-photon initiator (WTPI) and applications from the material and manufacturing perspective. We highlight the nonlinear optical properties and the synthesis of WTPI through three pathways. Then we further demonstrate the applications of the TPP technique in the aqueous phase in the fields of tissue engineering, 4D printing, and ceramic manufacturing. Finally, a general conclusion and outlook are provided for the future development and application of WTPI.

Abstract
Small-scale robots with shape anisotropy have garnered significant scientific interest due to their enhanced mobility and precise control in recent years. Traditionally, these miniature robots are manufactured using established techniques such as molding, 3D printing, and microfabrication. However, the advent of microfluidics in recent years has emerged as a promising manufacturing technology, capitalizing on the precise and dynamic manipulation of fluids at the microscale to fabricate various complex-shaped anisotropic particles. This offers a versatile and controlled platform, enabling the efficient fabrication of small-scale robots with tailored morphologies and advanced functionalities from the microfluidic-derived anisotropic microparticles at high throughput. This review highlights the recent advances in the microfluidic fabrication of anisotropic microparticles and their potential applications in small-scale robots. In this review, the term 'small-scale robots' broadly encompasses micromotors endowed with capabilities for locomotion and manipulation. Firstly, the fundamental strategies for liquid template formation and the methodologies for generating anisotropic microparticles within the microfluidic system are briefly introduced. Subsequently, the functionality of shape-anisotropic particles in forming components for small-scale robots and actuation mechanisms are emphasized. Attention is then directed towards the diverse applications of these microparticle-derived microrobots in a variety of fields, including pollution remediation, cell microcarriers, drug delivery, and biofilm eradication. Finally, we discuss future directions for the fabrication and development of miniature robots from microfluidics, shedding light on the evolving landscape of this field.

Abstract
The rapid progress in cultivated meat research has engendered considerable attention towards the edible scaffolding biomaterials employed in the production. Cellulose has the advantages in availability, edibility, animal-free origin, etc., which show its potential in wide fields. This review begins by presenting the fundamental physical and chemical properties of cellulose from different sources, including plant and bacterial cellulose. Subsequently, we summarize the application of cellulose especially in cultivated meat and tissue engineering. Furthermore, we explore various methods for preparing cellulose-based scaffolds for cultivated meat, encompassing five specific structural variations. In the end, associated with utilizing cellulose in cultivated meat production, we address several primary challenges surrounding to cell adhesion, scaling up, processibility and mechanical properties, and provide potential innovations. This review underscores the potential of cellulose as a versatile biomaterial in the cultivated meat industry and provides insight into addressing critical challenges for its integration.

Abstract
Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is a widely employed tool for micro- and nanoscale topographic imaging. However, conventional AFM scanning struggles to reconstruct complex 3D micro- and nanostructures precisely due to limitations such as incomplete sample topography capturing and tip-sample convolution artifacts. Here, we propose a multi-view neural-network-based framework with AFM, named MVN-AFM, which accurately reconstructs surface models of intricate micro- and nanostructures. Unlike previous 3D-AFM approaches, MVN-AFM does not depend on any specially shaped probes or costly modifications to the AFM system. To achieve this, MVN-AFM employs an iterative method to align multi-view data and eliminate AFM artifacts simultaneously. Furthermore, we apply the neural implicit surface reconstruction technique in nanotechnology and achieve improved results. Additional extensive experiments show that MVN-AFM effectively eliminates artifacts present in raw AFM images and reconstructs various micro- and nanostructures, including complex geometrical microstructures printed via two-photon lithography and nanoparticles such as poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) nanospheres and zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) nanocrystals. This work presents a cost-effective tool for micro- and nanoscale 3D analysis.

Abstract
Liquid crystalline (LC) materials are especially suited for the preparation of active three-dimensional (3D) and 4D microstructures using two-photon laser printing. To achieve the desired actuation, the alignment of the LCs has to be controlled during the printing process. In most cases studied before, the alignment relied on surface modifications and complex alignment patterns and concomitant actuation were not possible. Here, we introduce a strategy for spatially aligning LC domains in three-dimensional space by using 3D-printed polydimethylsiloxane-based microscaffolds as confinement barriers, which induce the desired director field. The director field resulting from the boundary conditions is calculated with Landau de Gennes theory and validated by comparing experimentally measured and theoretically predicted birefringence patterns. We demonstrate our procedures for structures of varying complexity and then employed them to fabricate 4D microstructures that show the desired actuation. Overall, we obtain excellent agreement between theory and experiment. This opens the door for rational design of functional materials for 4D (micro)printing in the future.

Abstract
Food safety and authenticity analysis play a pivotal role in guaranteeing food quality, safeguarding public health, and upholding consumer trust. In recent years, significant social progress has presented fresh challenges in the realm of food analysis, underscoring the imperative requirement to devise innovative and expedient approaches for conducting on-site assessments. Consequently, cellulose paper-based devices (PADs) have come into the spotlight due to their characteristics of microchannels and inherent capillary action. This review summarizes the recent advances in cellulose PADs in various food products, comprising various fabrication strategies, detection methods such as mass spectrometry and multi-mode detection, sampling and processing considerations, as well as applications in screening food safety factors and assessing food authenticity developed in the past 3 years. According to the above studies, cellulose PADs face challenges such as limited sample processing, inadequate multiplexing capabilities, and the requirement for workflow integration, while emerging innovations, comprising the use of simplified sample pretreatment techniques, the integration of advanced nanomaterials, and advanced instruments such as portable mass spectrometer and the innovation of multimodal detection methods, offer potential solutions and are highlighted as promising directions. This review underscores the significant potential of cellulose PADs in facilitating decentralized, cost-effective, and simplified testing methodologies to maintain food safety standards. With the progression of interdisciplinary research, cellulose PADs are expected to become essential platforms for on-site food safety and authentication analysis, thereby significantly enhancing global food safety for consumers.

Abstract
Bioorthogonal nanozymes have emerged as a potent tool in biomedicine due to their unique ability to perform enzymatic reactions that do not interfere with native biochemical processes. The integration of stimuli-responsive mechanisms into these nanozymes has further expanded their potential, allowing for controlled activation and targeted delivery. As such, intelligent bioorthogonal nanozymes have received more and more attention in developing therapeutic approaches. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the recent advances in the development and application of stimuli-responsive bioorthogonal nanozymes. By summarizing the design outlines for anchoring bioorthogonal nanozymes with stimuli-responsive capability, this review seeks to offer valuable insights and guidance for the rational design of these remarkable materials. This review highlights the significant progress made in this exciting field with different types of stimuli and the various applications. Additionally, it also examines the current challenges and limitations in the design, synthesis, and application of these systems, and proposes potential solutions and research directions. This review aims to stimulate further research toward the development of more efficient and versatile stimuli-responsive bioorthogonal nanozymes for biomedical applications.

Abstract
Chitin and chitosan-based bioink for 3D-printed flexible electronics have tremendous potential for innovation in healthcare, agriculture, the environment, and industry. This biomaterial is suitable for 3D printing because it is highly stretchable, super-flexible, affordable, ultrathin, and lightweight. Owing to its ease of use, on-demand manufacturing, accurate and regulated deposition, and versatility with flexible and soft functional materials, 3D printing has revolutionized free-form construction and end-user customization. This study examined the potential of employing chitin and chitosan-based bioinks to build 3D-printed flexible electronic devices and optimize bioink formulation, printing parameters, and postprocessing processes to improve mechanical and electrical properties. The exploration of 3D-printed chitin and chitosan-based flexible bioelectronics will open new avenues for new flexible materials for numerous industrial applications.

Abstract
Microrobots, which can perform tasks in difficult-to-reach parts of the human body under their own or external power supply, are potential tools for biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, microsurgery, imaging and monitoring, tissue engineering, and sensors and actuators. Compared with traditional fabrication methods for microrobots, recent improvements in 3D printers enable them to print high-precision microrobots, breaking through the limitations of traditional micromanufacturing technologies that require high skills for operators and greatly shortening the design-to-production cycle. Here, this review first introduces typical 3D printing technologies used in microrobot manufacturing. Then, the structures of microrobots with different functions and application scenarios are discussed. Next, we summarize the materials (body materials, propulsion materials and intelligent materials) used in 3D microrobot manufacturing to complete body construction and realize biomedical applications (e.g., drug delivery, imaging and monitoring). Finally, the challenges and future prospects of 3D printed microrobots in biomedical applications are discussed in terms of materials, manufacturing and advancement.

Abstract
Microactuators, capable of executing tasks typically repetitive, hazardous, or impossible for humans, hold great promise across fields such as precision medicine, environmental remediation, and swarm intelligence. However, intricate motions of microactuators normally require high complexity in design, making it increasingly challenging to realize at small scales using existing fabrication techniques. Taking inspiration from the hierarchical-anisotropy principle found in nature, we program liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) microactuators with multimodal actuation tailored to their molecular, shape, and architectural anisotropies at (sub)nanometer, micrometer, and (sub)millimeter scales, respectively. Our strategy enables diverse deformations with individual LCE microstructures, including expanding, contracting, twisting, bending, and unwinding, as well as re-programmable shape transformations of assembled LCE architectures with negative Poisson's ratios, locally adjustable actuation, and changing from two-dimensional (2D) to three-dimensional (3D) structures. Furthermore, we design tetrahedral microactuators with well-controlled mobility and precise manipulation of both solids and liquids in various environments. This study provides a paradigm shift in the development of microactuators, unlocking a vast array of complexities achievable through manipulation at each hierarchical level of anisotropy.

Abstract
The field of microrobotics has emerged as a promising area of research with significant applications in biomedicine, both in vitro and in vivo, such as targeted cargo delivery, microsurgery, and cellular manipulation. Microrobots actuated with multiple modalities have the potential for greater adaptability, robustness, and capability to perform various tasks. Modular units that can reconfigure into various shapes, create structures that may be difficult to fabricate as one whole unit, and be assembled on-site, could provide more versatility by assembly and disassembly of units on demand. Such multi-modal modular microrobots have the potential to address challenging applications. Here, we present a biocompatible cylindrical microrobot with a dome-shaped cavity. The microrobot is actuated by both magnetic and acoustic fields and forms modular microstructures of various shapes. We demonstrate the use of these microrobots for cellular manipulation by creating patterns on a surface. Abstract
Three-dimensional printing technology in construction is a rapidly growing field that offers innovative opportunities for design and construction execution. A key component of this process is the automated production of high-performance construction mixtures that meet specific requirements for strength, fluidity, and setting speed. This overview article outlines the history and development of 3D printing technology in the construction industry, describes various printing technologies, and discusses the properties and requirements for construction mixes. Special attention is given to automated systems for batching and mixing ingredients, which increase the precision and efficiency of production. The different types of construction mixes used in 3D printing and the main technical and operational challenges associated with their application are also presented. The article's conclusions highlight the potential of this technology to revolutionize the construction industry by improving efficiency and reducing costs and project lead times.

Abstract
The direct ink writing technique used in 3D printing technology is generally applied to designing biomedical hydrogels. Herein, we proposed a strategy for preparing all-chitin-based inks for wound dressing via direct ink writing technique. The β-chitin nanofibers (MACNF) with a high aspect ratio were applied as a nanofiller to modulate the rheological properties of the alkaline dissolved chitin solution. The printing fidelity significantly depends on the MACNF introduction amount to the composite ink. 5-10 wt% MACNF ratio showed superior printing performance. The printed scaffold showed a uniform micron-sized pore structure and a woven network of nanofibers. Due to the good biocompatibility of chitin and the stereoscopic spatial skeleton, this scaffold showed excellent performance as a wound dressing, which can promote cell proliferation, collagen deposition and the angiogenesis of wounds, demonstrating its potential in biomedical applications. This approach successfully balanced the chitinous printability and biofunctions.

Abstract
In the realm of precise medicine, the advancement of manufacturing technologies is vital for enhancing the capabilities of medical devices such as nano/microrobots, wearable/implantable biosensors, and organ-on-chip systems, which serve to accurately acquire and analyze patients' physiopathological information and to perform patient-specific therapy. Electrospinning holds great promise in engineering materials and components for advanced medical devices, due to the demonstrated ability to advance the development of nanomaterial science. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited composition variety, uncontrollable fiber orientation, difficulties in incorporating fragile molecules and cells, and low production effectiveness hindered its further application. To overcome these challenges, advanced electrospinning techniques have been explored to manufacture functional composites, orchestrated structures, living constructs, and scale-up fabrication. This review delves into the recent advances of electrospinning techniques and underscores their potential in revolutionizing the field of precise medicine, upon introducing the fundamental information of conventional electrospinning techniques, as well as discussing the current challenges and future perspectives.

Abstract
Carbon nanomaterials, specifically carbon dots and carbon nitrides, play a crucial role as heterogeneous photoinitiators in both radical and cationic polymerization processes. These recently introduced materials offer promising solutions to the limitations of current homogeneous systems, presenting a novel approach to photopolymerization. This review highlights the preparation and photocatalytic performance of these nanomaterials, emphasizing their application in various polymerization techniques, including photoinduced i) free radical, ii) RAFT, iii) ATRP, and iv) cationic photopolymerization. Additionally, it discusses their potential in addressing contemporary challenges and explores prospects in this field. Moreover, carbon nitrides, in particular, exhibit exceptional oxygen tolerance, underscoring their significance in radical polymerization processes and allowing their applications such as 3D printing, surface modification of coatings, and hydrogel engineering.

Abstract
Design of engineered cells to target and deliver nanodrugs to the hard-to-reach regions has become an exciting research area. However, the limited penetration and retention of cell-based carriers in tumor tissue restricted their therapeutic efficiency. Inspired by the enhanced delivery behavior of mobile micro/nanomotors, herein, urease-powered platelet cell motors (PLT@Au@Urease) capable of active locomotion, tumor targeting, and radiosensitizers delivery were designed for boosting radiosensitization. The engineered platelet cell motors were constructed by in situ synthesis and loading of radiosensitizers gold nanoparticles in platelets, and then conjugation with urease as the engine. Under physiological concentration of urea, thrust around PLT@Au@Urease motors can be generated via the biocatalytic reactions of urease, leading to rapid tumor cell targeting and enhanced cellular uptake of radiosensitizers. Encouragingly, in comparison with engineered PLT without propulsion capability (PLT@Au), the self-propelled PLT@Au@Urease motors could significantly increase intracellular ROS level and exacerbate nuclear DNA damage induced by γ-radiation, resulting in a remarkably high sensitization enhancement rate (1.89) than that of PLT@Au (1.08). In vivo experiments with 4 T1-bearing mice demonstrated that PLT@Au@Urease in combination with radiation therapy possessed good antitumor performance. Such an intelligent cell motor would provide a promising approach to enhance radiosensitization and broaden the applications of cell motor-based delivery systems.

Abstract
Microgrippers, a branch of micro/nanorobots, refer to motile miniaturized machines that are of a size in the range of several to hundreds of micrometers. Compared with tethered grippers or other microscopic diagnostic and surgical equipment, untethered microgrippers play an indispensable role in biomedical applications because of their characteristics such as miniaturized size, dexterous shape tranformation, and controllable motion, which enables the microgrippers to enter hard-to-reach regions to execute specific medical tasks for disease diagnosis and treatment. To date, numerous medical microgrippers are developed, and their potential in cell manipulation, targeted drug delivery, biopsy, and minimally invasive surgery are explored. To achieve controlled locomotion and efficient target-oriented actions, the materials, size, microarchitecture, and morphology of microgrippers shall be deliberately designed. In this review, the authors summarizes the latest progress in untethered micrometer-scale grippers. The working mechanisms of shape-morphing and actuation methods for effective movement are first introduced. Then, the design principle and state-of-the-art fabrication techniques of microgrippers are discussed. Finally, their applications in the precise medicine are highlighted, followed by offering future perspectives for the development of untethered medical microgrippers.

Abstract
Human beings encompass sophisticated microcirculation and microenvironments, incorporating a broad spectrum of microfluidic systems that adopt fundamental roles in orchestrating physiological mechanisms. In vitro recapitulation of human microenvironments based on lab-on-a-chip technology represents a critical paradigm to better understand the intricate mechanisms. Moreover, the advent of micro/nanorobotics provides brand new perspectives and dynamic tools for elucidating the complex process in microfluidics. Currently, artificial intelligence (AI) has endowed micro/nanorobots (MNRs) with unprecedented benefits, such as material synthesis, optimal design, fabrication, and swarm behavior. Using advanced AI algorithms, the motion control, environment perception, and swarm intelligence of MNRs in microfluidics are significantly enhanced. This emerging interdisciplinary research trend holds great potential to propel biomedical research to the forefront and make valuable contributions to human health. Herein, we initially introduce the AI algorithms integral to the development of MNRs. We briefly revisit the components, designs, and fabrication techniques adopted by robots in microfluidics with an emphasis on the application of AI. Then, we review the latest research pertinent to AI-enhanced MNRs, focusing on their motion control, sensing abilities, and intricate collective behavior in microfluidics. Furthermore, we spotlight biomedical domains that are already witnessing or will undergo game-changing evolution based on AI-enhanced MNRs. Finally, we identify the current challenges that hinder the practical use of the pioneering interdisciplinary technology.

Abstract
Self-monitoring materials have promising applications in structural health monitoring. However, developing organic afterglow materials for self-monitoring is a highly intriguing yet challenging task. Herein, we design two organic molecules with a twisted donor-acceptor-acceptor' configuration and achieve dual-emissive afterglow with tunable lifetimes (86.1-287.7 ms) by doping into various matrices. Based on a photosensitive resin, a series of complex structures are prepared using 3D printing technology. They exhibit tunable afterglow lifetime and Young's Modulus by manipulating the photocuring time and humidity level. With sufficient photocuring or in dry conditions, a long-lived bright green afterglow without apparent deformation under external loading is realized. We demonstrate that the mechanical properties of complex 3D printing structures can be well monitored by controlling the photocuring time and humidity, and quantitively manifested by afterglow lifetimes. This work casts opportunities for constructing flexible 3D printing devices that can achieve sensing and real-time mechanical detection.

Abstract
The development of functional microsystems and microrobots that have characterized the last decade is the result of a synergistic and effective interaction between the progress of fabrication techniques and the increased availability of smart and responsive materials to be employed in the latter. Functional structures on the microscale have been relevant for a vast plethora of technologies that find application in different sectors including automotive, sensing devices, and consumer electronics, but are now also entering medical clinics. Working on or inside the human body requires increasing complexity and functionality on an ever-smaller scale, which is becoming possible as a result of emerging technology and smart materials over the past decades. In recent years, additive manufacturing has risen to the forefront of this evolution as the most prominent method to fabricate complex 3D structures. In this review, we discuss the rapid 3D manufacturing techniques that have emerged and how they have enabled a great leap in microrobotic applications. The arrival of smart materials with inherent functionalities has propelled microrobots to great complexity and complex applications. We focus on which materials are important for actuation and what the possibilities are for supplying the required energy. Furthermore, we provide an updated view of a new generation of microrobots in terms of both materials and fabrication technology. While two-photon lithography may be the state-of-the-art technology at the moment, in terms of resolution and design freedom, new methods such as two-step are on the horizon. In the more distant future, innovations like molecular motors could make microscale robots redundant and bring about nanofabrication.

Abstract
The suitable microenvironment of bone regeneration is critically important for periodontitis-derived bone defect repair. Three major challenges in achieving a robust osteogenic reaction are the exist of oral inflammation, pathogenic bacteria invasion and unaffluent seed cells. Herein, a customizable and multifunctional 3D-printing module was designed with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) modified epsilon-poly-L-lysine (EPLGMA) loading periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) and myeloid-derived suppressive cells membrane vesicles (MDSCs-MV) bioink (EPLGMA/PDLSCs/MDSCs-MVs, abbreviated as EPM) for periodontitis-derived bone defect repair. The EPM showed excellent mechanical properties and physicochemical characteristics, providing a suitable microenvironment for bone regeneration.In vitro, EPMs presented effectively kill the periodontopathic bacteria depend on the natural antibacterial properties of the EPL. Meanwhile, MDSCs-MV was confirmed to inhibit T cells through CD73/CD39/adenosine signal pathway, exerting an anti-inflammatory role. Additionally, seed cells of PDLSCs provide an adequate supply for osteoblasts. Moreover, MDSCs-MV could significantly enhance the mineralizing capacity of PDLSCs-derived osteoblast. In the periodontal bone defect rat model, the results of micro-CT and histological staining demonstrated that the EPM scaffold similarly had an excellent anti-inflammatory and bone regeneration efficacyin vivo. This biomimetic and multifunctional 3D-printing bioink opens new avenues for periodontitis-derived bone defect repair and future clinical application.

Abstract
Using micro/nanorobots (MNRs) for targeted therapy within the human body is an emerging research direction in biomedical science. These nanoscale to microscale miniature robots possess specificity and precision that are lacking in most traditional treatment modalities. Currently, research on electrically controlled micro/nanorobots is still in its early stages, with researchers primarily focusing on the fabrication and manipulation of these robots to meet complex clinical demands. This review aims to compare the fabrication, powering, and locomotion of various electrically controlled micro/nanorobots, and explore their advantages, disadvantages, and potential applications.

Abstract
Quantum dot-based materials have been found to be excellent platforms for biosensing and bioimaging applications. Herein, self-propelled microrobots made of graphene quantum dots (GQD-MRs) have been synthesized and explored as unconventional dynamic biocarriers toward the optical "on-the-fly" monitoring of DNA. As a first demonstration of applicability, GQD-MRs have been first biofunctionalized with a DNA biomarker (i.e., fluorescein amidite-labeled, FAM-L) via hydrophobic π-stacking interactions and subsequently exposed toward different concentrations of a DNA target. The biomarker-target hybridization process leads to a biomarker release from the GQD-MR surface, resulting in a linear alteration in the fluorescence intensity of the dynamic biocarrier at the nM range (1-100 nM, R2 = 0.99), also demonstrating excellent selectivity and sensitivity, with a detection limit as low as 0.05 nM. Consequently, the developed dynamic biocarriers, which combine the appealing features of GQDs (e.g., water solubility, fluorescent activity, and supramolecular π-stacking interactions) with the autonomous mobility of MRs, present themselves as potential autonomous micromachines to be exploited as highly efficient and sensitive "on-the-fly" biosensing systems. This method is general and can be simply customized by tailoring the biomarker anchored to the GQD-MR's surface.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a technology used to create complex 3D structures out of a digital model that can be almost any shape. Additive manufacturing allows the creation of customized, finely detailed constructs. Improvements in 3D printing, increased 3D printer availability, decreasing costs, development of biomaterials, and improved cell culture techniques have enabled complex, novel, and customized medical applications to develop. There have been rapid development and utilization of 3D printing technologies in orthopedics, dentistry, urology, reconstructive surgery, and other health care areas. Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) is an emerging application field for 3D printing. This technology can be utilized in OBGYN for preventive medicine, early diagnosis, and timely treatment of women-and-fetus-specific health issues. Moreover, 3D printed simulations of surgical procedures enable the training of physicians according to the needs of any given procedure. Herein, we summarize the technology and materials behind additive manufacturing and review the most recent advancements in the application of 3D printing in OBGYN studies, such as diagnosis, surgical planning, training, simulation, and customized prosthesis. Furthermore, we aim to give a future perspective on the integration of 3D printing and OBGYN applications and to provide insight into the potential applications.

Abstract
In this study, we propose a simple and efficient method to fabricate three-lobed nonspherical Janus microrobots. These microrobots can be actuated by a harmless magnetic field. Utilizing organosilica as the material of choice, we leverage its versatile silane chemistry to enable various surface modifications and functionalities. The fabricated microrobots demonstrate two distinct modes of motion, making them well-suited for cell transportation and drug delivery tasks. Their unique shape and motion characteristics allow for precise and targeted movement. Integrating these microrobots into therapeutic delivery platforms can revolutionize medical treatments, offering enhanced precision, efficiency, and versatility in delivering therapies to specific sites.

Abstract
Blood vessels are essential for nutrient and oxygen delivery and waste removal. Scaffold-repairing materials with functional vascular networks are widely used in bone tissue engineering. Additive manufacturing is a manufacturing technology that creates three-dimensional solids by stacking substances layer by layer, mainly including but not limited to 3D printing, but also 4D printing, 5D printing and 6D printing. It can be effectively combined with vascularization to meet the needs of vascularized tissue scaffolds by precisely tuning the mechanical structure and biological properties of smart vascular scaffolds. Herein, the development of neovascularization to vascularization to bone tissue engineering is systematically discussed in terms of the importance of vascularization to the tissue. Additionally, the research progress and future prospects of vascularized 3D printed scaffold materials are highlighted and presented in four categories: functional vascularized 3D printed scaffolds, cell-based vascularized 3D printed scaffolds, vascularized 3D printed scaffolds loaded with specific carriers and bionic vascularized 3D printed scaffolds. Finally, a brief review of vascularized additive manufacturing-tissue scaffolds in related tissues such as the vascular tissue engineering, cardiovascular system, skeletal muscle, soft tissue and a discussion of the challenges and development efforts leading to significant advances in intelligent vascularized tissue regeneration is presented.

Abstract
AbstractMicro/nanorobots are promising for a wide range of biomedical applications (such as targeted tumor, thrombus, and infection therapies in hard‐to‐reach body sites) because of their tiny size and high maneuverability through the actuation of external fields (e.g., magnetic field, light, ultrasound, electric field, and/or heat). However, fully synthetic micro/nanorobots as foreign objects are susceptible to phagocytosis and clearance by diverse phagocytes. To address this issue, researchers have attempted to develop various cytomembrane‐camouflaged micro/nanorobots by two means: (1) direct coating of micro/nanorobots with cytomembranes derived from living cells and (2) the swallowing of micro/nanorobots by living immunocytes via phagocytosis. The camouflaging with cytomembranes or living immunocytes not only protects micro/nanorobots from phagocytosis, but also endows them with new characteristics or functionalities, such as prolonging propulsion in biofluids, targeting diseased areas, or neutralizing bacterial toxins. In this review, we comprehensively summarize the recent advances and developments of cytomembrane‐camouflaged medical micro/nanorobots. We first discuss how cytomembrane coating nanotechnology has been employed to engineer synthetic nanomaterials, and then we review in detail how cytomembrane camouflage tactic can be exploited to functionalize micro/nanorobots. We aim to bridge the gap between cytomembrane‐cloaked micro/nanorobots and nanomaterials and to provide design guidance for developing cytomembrane‐camouflaged micro/nanorobots.

Abstract
Biohybrid magnetic microrobots (BMMs) have emerged as an exciting class of microrobots and have been considered as a promising platform in biomedicine. Many microorganisms and body's own cells show intriguing properties, such as morphological characteristics, biosafety, and taxis abilities (e.g., chemotaxis, aerotaxis), which have made them attractive for the fabrication of microrobots. For remote controllability and sustainable actuation, magnetic components are usually incorporated onto these biological entities, and other functionalized non-biological components (e.g., therapeutic agents) are also included for specific applications. This review highlights the latest developments in BMMs with a focus on their biomedical applications. It starts by introducing the fundamental understanding of the propulsion system at the microscale in a magnetically driven manner, followed by a summary of diverse BMMs based on different microorganisms and body's own cells along with their relevant applications. Finally, the review discusses how BMMs contribute to the advancements of microrobots, the current challenges of using BMMs in practical clinical settings, and the future perspectives of this exciting field. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Biohybrid magnetic microrobots (BMMs), composed of biological entities and functional parts, hold great potential and serve as a novel and promising platform for biomedical applications such as targeted drug delivery. This review comprehensively summarizes the recent advancements in BMMs for biomedical applications, mainly focused on the representative propulsion modalities in a magnetically propelled manner and diverse designs of BMMs based on different biological entities, including microorganisms and body's own cells. We hope this review can provide ideas for the future design, development, and innovation of micro/nanorobots in the field of biomedicine.

Abstract
Microrobots have emerged as promising tools for biomedical and in vivo applications, leveraging their untethered actuation capabilities and miniature size. Despite extensive research on diversifying multi-actuation modes for single types of robots, these tiny machines tend to have limited versatility while navigating different environments or performing specific tasks. To overcome such limitations, self-assembly microstructures with on-demand reconfiguration capabilities have gained recent attention as the future of biocompatible microrobotics, as they can address drug delivery, microsurgery, and organoid development processes. Reversible modular reconfiguration structures require specific arrangements of particles that can assume several shapes when external fields are applied. We show how magnetic interaction can be used to assemble cylindrical microrobots into modular microstructures with different shapes. The motion actuation of the formed microstructure happens due to an external acoustic field, which generates responsive forces in the air bubbles trapped in the inner cavity of the robots. An external magnetic field can also steer these structures. We illustrate these capabilities by assembling the robots into different shapes that can swim and be steered, showing the potential to perform biomedical applications. Furthermore, we confirm the biocompatibility of the cylindrical microrobot used as the building blocks of our microstructure. Exposing Chinese Hamster Ovary cells to our microrobots for 24 hours demonstrates cell viability when in contact with the microrobot.

Abstract
The development of magnetically-actuated micro-robots is of great interest for emerging medical applications due to their inherent safety, low cost to manufacture, and flexibility. In many practical applications, precise control over the motion of the microrobots is a strong requirement. In these contexts, closed-loop control is a practical tool to adjust the microrobots' control inputs in real time. In this work, we describe a process to quickly fabricate a large number of heterogeneous microrobots using colloidal synthesis. We simultaneously develop a closed-loop control law that drives the microrobots to a desired formation in the plane. In addition, we prove that heterogeneity in the microrobot dynamics is necessary to generate arbitrary formations. Finally, using experimental data, we show in simulation that N = 4 microrobots can be driven to any arbitrary formation using our control law.

Abstract
Mobile microrobots have the potential to transform medical treatments based on therapeutic delivery. Specifically, microrobots are promising candidates for cell transportation in cell-based therapies. Despite recent progress in cellular manipulation by microrobots, there is a significant need to design and fabricate microrobots to advance the field further. In this work, we present a facile approach to manufacturing three-lobed microrobots by a bench-top procedure. The microrobots are actuated by a harmless magnetic field which makes them biofriendly. Chemically, these microrobots are made of organosilica. The microrobots showed equally good control in both the open-loop and closed-loop settings. The three-lobed microrobots have two modes of motion during the open-loop control experiments. We employed these two modes for single-cell transportation. Our results show that the three-lobed microbots are very promising for cell transportation in a fluid.

Abstract
As the main precursor of arterial disorders, endothelial dysfunction preferentially occurs in regions of arteries prone to generating turbulent flow, particularly in branched regions of vasculatures. Although various diseased models have been engineered to investigate arterial pathology, producing a multiple-layered vascular model with branched geometries that can recapitulate the critical physiological environments of human arteries, such as intercellular communications and local turbulent flows, remains challenging. This study develops a sequentially suspended three-dimensional bioprinting (SSB) strategy and a visible-light-curable decellularized extracellular matrix bioink (abbreviated as 'VCD bioink') to construct a biomimetic human arterial model with tunable geometries. The engineered multiple-layered arterial models with compartmentalized vascular cells can exhibit physiological functionality and pathological performance under defined physiological flows specified by computational fluid dynamics simulation. Using different configurations of the vascular models, we investigated the independent and synergetic effects of cellular crosstalk and abnormal hemodynamics on the initiation of endothelial dysfunction, a hallmark event of arterial disorder. The results suggest that the arterial model constructed using the SSB strategy and VCD bioinks has promise in establishing diagnostic/analytic platforms for understanding the pathophysiology of human arterial disorders and relevant abnormalities, such as atherosclerosis, aneurysms, and ischemic diseases.
