Abstract
Integrase strand-transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) are associated with weight gain in women living with HIV (WLH). Relationships between drug exposure, baseline obesity, and INSTI-associated weight gain remain unclear. Data from 2006 to 2016 were analyzed from virally suppressed WLH enrolled in the Women's Interagency HIV Study, who switched/added an INSTI to antiretroviral therapy: [raltegravir (RAL), dolutegravir (DTG), or elvitegravir (EVG)]. Percent body weight change was calculated from weights obtained a median 6 months pre-INSTI and 14 months post-INSTI initiation. Hair concentrations were measured with validated liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (MS)/MS assays. Baseline (preswitch) weight status evaluated obese (body mass index, BMI, ≥30 kg/m2) versus nonobese (BMI <30 kg/m2). Mixed models examined the drug hair concentration*baseline obesity status interaction for each INSTI. There were 169 WLH included: 53 (31%) switched to RAL, 72 (43%) to DTG, and 44 (26%) to EVG. Women were median age 47-52 years, predominantly Non-Hispanic Black, median CD4 counts >500 cells/mm3, >75% with undetectable HIV-1 RNA. Over ∼1 year, women experienced median increases in body weight: 1.71% (-1.78, 5.00) with RAL; 2.40% (-2.82, 6.50) with EVG; and 2.48% (-3.60, 7.88) with DTG. Baseline obesity status modified the relationship between hair concentrations and percent weight change for DTG and RAL (p's < 0.05): higher DTG, yet lower RAL concentrations were associated with greater weight gain among nonobese women. Additional pharmacologic assessments are needed to understand the role of drug exposure in INSTI-associated weight gain.

Abstract
CONTEXT It is not yet understood whether people living with HIV infection have an increased risk of Alzheimers Disease and Related Dementias due to enhanced survivorship with highly effective antiretroviral therapies and/or increasing adiposity with aging. OBJECTIVE This work aimed to determine whether body mass index (BMI) and leptin were longitudinally associated over 10 years with neuropsychological performance (NP) among middle-aged women with HIV (WWH) vs without HIV. METHODS Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) participants (301 WWH, 113 women without HIV from Brooklyn, New York City, and Chicago had baseline and 10-year BMI and fasting plasma leptin levels using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ng/mL); and demographically adjusted NP T scores (attention/working memory, executive function [EF], processing speed, memory, learning, verbal fluency, motor function, global) at 10-year follow-up. Multivariable linear regression analyses, stratified by HIV serostatus, examined associations between BMI, leptin, and NP. RESULTS Over 10 years, women (baseline age 39.8 ± 9.2 years, 73% Black, 73% WWH) transitioned from average overweight (29.1 ± 7.9) to obese (30.5 ± 7.9) BMI. Leptin increased 11.4 ± 26.4 ng/mL (P < .001). Higher baseline BMI and leptin predicted poorer 10-year EF among all women (BMI β = -6.97, 95% CI (-11.5 to -2.45) P = .003; leptin β = -1.90, 95% CI (-3.03 to -0.76), P = .001); higher baseline BMI predicted better memory performance (β = 6.35, 95% CI (1.96-10.7), P = .005). Greater 10-year leptin increase predicted poorer EF (P = .004), speed (P = .03), and verbal (P = .02) and global (P = 0.005) performance among all women, and WWH. Greater 10-year BMI increase predicted slower processing speed (P = .043) among all women; and among WWH, poorer EF (P = .01) and global (P = .04) performance. CONCLUSION In middle-aged WIHS participants, 10-year increases in BMI and leptin were associated with poorer performance across multiple NP domains among all women and WWH. Trajectories of adiposity measures over time may provide insight into the role of adipose tissue in brain health with aging.

Abstract
Background Similar to the general population, the prevalence of central obesity is increasing among HIV-infected persons. There are little data on the burden of abdominal obesity using the waist-to-hip ratio measurement in HIV-infected patients in resource-limited settings, including Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of central obesity among HIV patients taking ART in an armed force comprehensive and specialized hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from March to April 2018. A systematic sampling method was used to select 353 study participants. Pretested World Health Organization stepwise questionnaire, document review, and anthropometric and biochemical measurements were used to collect data on different variables under the study. The collected data were entered into EpiData version 3 and analyzed by SPSS version 21. An adjusted odds ratio with 95% CI was considered to declare a statistically significant association. Results The prevalence of central obesity in this study was 71.7% (95% CI: 67%-76.4%). Besides, the odds of central obesity were associated with being female (AOR: 85.6; 95% CI: 20.09, 364.6), among merchants (AOR: 18.8; 95% CI: 1.39, 255.7), CD4 count <200 cells/mm3 (AOR: 0.03; 95% CI: 0.007, 0.160), among respondents taking AZT + 3TC + EFV-based ART regimen (AOR: 8.73; 95% CI: 1.33, 57.17), ABC + 3TC + ATV/r-based regimen (AOR: 0.18; 95% CI: 0.03, 0.94), increased BMI (AOR: 3.50; 95% CI: 1.36, 3.89), and abnormal blood pressure (AOR: 2.53; 95%: 1.13, 5.67). Conclusion It is possible to conclude that central obesity is a huge public health problem among the HIV-infected population in the study area. Being female, increased BMI, low CD4 count, AZT + 3TC + EFV, ABC + 3TC + ATV/r-based regimen, and abnormal blood pressure were associated with central obesity. Therefore, adequate attention must be paid to primary and secondary control of these factors to reduce the prevalence of abdominal obesity among HIV-infected patients.

Abstract
Women with chronic HIV infection (WWH) living in the United States,
experience a disproportionately high rate of obesity compared to uninfected
populations. Both overweight and obesity, particularly central obesity, are
major contributors to insulin resistance, hypertension, and
dyslipidemia—the major components of metabolic syndromes, including type
2 diabetes, and leading to increased cardiovascular risk, including coronary
heart disease, and cerebrovascular diseases. Notably, declining physical
performance and frailty co-occur with vascular morbidities as well as changes in
bone. These factors tend to exacerbate each other and accelerate the aging
trajectory, leading to poorer quality of life, cognitive impairments, dementia,
and eventually, death. In WWH, persistent HIV infection, sustained treatment for
HIV infection, and concomitant obesity, may accelerate aging-related morbidities
and poorer aging outcomes. Furthermore, health disparities factors common among
some WWH, are independently associated with obesity and higher vascular risk.
The purpose of this review is to describe the constellation of obesity, cardio-
and cerebrovascular diseases, bone health and frailty among aging WWH, a 21st
century emergence.

Abstract
Background More than a quarter of people living with human immune virus had increased burden of malnutrition leading to poor disease progression and survival. However, evidence on predictors for episodes of malnutrition is limited despite its importance for targeted interventions. This paper assessed the episodes of undernutrition and its predictors among HIV-positive adults on treatment in southwest Ethiopia. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study using secondary data was conducted among 519 randomly selected records of adult clients on antiretroviral treatment. Malnutrition was assessed using the records of weight and height at different points of follow-up (0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months of ART follow-up). Analysis of variance, covariance, and spaghetti plot were done to compare the mean change in body mass index. To assess predictors of malnutrition episodes, a linear mixed model was used with parameter estimate with 95% confidence interval and P-values were estimated via maximum likelihood method. Akaike's information criteria was used for model fitness. Results A total of 480 records were reviewed with a mean age of 36 years (±9 years). A total of 354 (73.8%) and 34.6% of clients got dietary counseling and support, respectively. Statistically significant improvement in mean BMI after initiating treatment (P-value=0.0001) was observed. Being male (β=−0.72; P=0.044), having problems of eating difficulty (β=−1.61; P=0.0001), anemia (β=−1.51; P=0.003), shorter follow-up intervals (β=0.04; P=0.129), not getting nutritional counseling (β=0.63; P=0.32), and diarrheal disease (β=−0.04; P=0.129) were predictors of undernutrition. Conclusion Improvement in nutritional status after initiation of ART was seen. The presence of eating disorder, anemia, not getting nutritional counseling, and the short follow-up interval predict undernutrition.

Abstract
In HIV-infected patients, combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) is associated to adipose tissue redistribution known as lipodystrophy and associated cardiometabolic risk. This study aimed to evaluate the evolution of body composition in HIV-infected patients, with and without lipodystrophy, over 2 yr. We evaluated anthropometric parameters and body composition by whole-body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in 144 HIV-infected patients on cART. We defined lipodystrophy by fat mass ratio. Lipodystrophy was present in 45.77% of the patients. These patients presented higher HIV infection duration, cART duration, and CD4+ cell count, with no differences regarding gender, age, body mass index, and viral load. Patients with lipodystrophy showed an increase in total fat mass (9.9%) and upper-limbs fat mass (17.6%), with a decrease in total, trunk, and lower-limbs fat-free mass (2.2%; 2.2%, and 3.9%, respectively), over 2 yr. In patients without lipodystrophy, the trunk fat-free mass decreased 1.9% over time, and no changes were observed in the other studied parameters. In patients with lipodystrophy, there was predominantly a central fat mass gain, with no changes in lower limbs, suggesting that peripheral adipocytes lose their regenerative capacity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aim of this review is to focus the attention on people living with HIV infection at risk of developing a cardiovascular event. What is or what would be the most suitable antiretroviral therapy? Which statin or fibrate to reduce the risk? How to influence behavior and lifestyles? DISCUSSION Prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk remains the first and essential step in a medical intervention on these patients. The lifestyle modification, including smoking cessation, increased physical activity, weight reduction, and the education on healthy dietary practices are the main instruments. Statins are the cornerstone for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. They have been shown to slow the progression or promote regression of coronary plaque, and could also exert an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effect. However the current guidelines for the use of these drugs in general population are dissimilar, with important differences between American and European ones. The debate between American and European guidelines is still open and, also considering the independent risk factor represented by HIV, specific guidelines are warranted. Ezetimibe reduces the intestinal absorption of cholesterol. It is effective alone or in combination with rosuvastatin. It does not modify plasmatic concentrations of antiretrovirals. A number of experimental new classes of drugs for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia are being studied. Fibrates represent the first choice for treatment of hypertriglyceridemia, however, the renal toxicity of fibrates and statins should be considered. Omega 3 fatty acids have a good safety profile, but their efficacy is limited. Another concern is the high dose needed. Other drugs are acipimox and tesamorelin. Current antiretroviral therapies are less toxic and more effective than regimens used in the early years. Lipodistrophy and dyslipidemia are the main causes of long-term toxicities. Not all antiretrovirals have similar toxicities. Protease Inhibitors may cause dyslipidemia and lipodystrophy, while integrase inhibitors have a minimal impact on lipids profile, and no evidence of lipodystrophy. There is still much to be written with the introduction of new drugs in clinical practice. CONCLUSIONS Cardiovascular risk among HIV infected patients, interventions on behavior and lifestyles, use of drugs to reduce the risk, and switch in antiretroviral therapy, remain nowadays major issues in the management of HIV-infected patients.

Examine body composition changes across the lifespan of HIV-infected compared to uninfected adults. Longitudinal study of antiretroviral therapy (ART)-treated HIV-infected and uninfected participants from the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study and Women's Interagency HIV Study. Body mass index (BMI), waist (WC), hip circumference (HC), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) measured at semiannual visits from 1999 to 2014. The age effect on outcomes over time was investigated using multivariate, piecewise, linear mixed-effect regression models adjusted for demographics, substance use, and comorbidities. Person-visits from 2363 men (1059 HIV-infected/1304 HIV-uninfected) and 2200 women (1455 HIV-infected/745 HIV-uninfected), median ages 45 [IQR 39,51] and 40 [32,46], respectively, were included. BMI gains were slower among HIV-infected participants of 40 years or less (P < 0.001), similar between HIV-infected and uninfected persons 40 to 60 years of age, and plateaued after age 60 in both groups. WC and WHtR increased across the age spectrum (P < 0.001) regardless of HIV serostatus, with significantly greater gains in HIV-infected men more than 60. Black race and Hispanic ethnicity were associated with greater BMI and WC. Lower BMI, WC, hip circumference, and WHtR were associated with hepatitis C infection among women only, and with substance use among all participants, and with lower CD4 cell count and shorter ART duration among HIV-infected participants. Slower BMI gain among younger HIV-infected adults may be partly explained by substance use and hepatitis C infection, and suggests that lower BMI does not represent improved health. Further analysis of muscle and fat abundance and quality will advance understanding of metabolic risk over the lifespan, a key to reducing morbidity in an aging population.

Abstract
CONTEXT Case-control study of women with and without HIV infection. OBJECTIVE To explore the association of cognition and the adipokines, leptin and adiponectin (total; high molecular weight, HMW), in women with (HIV+) and without HIV (HIV-) infection. DESIGN Cross-sectional analyses of adipokines and cognition using linear regression models of log-transformed adipokines, and Trails A, Trails B, Stroop interference time, Stroop word recall, Stroop color naming and reading, and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) with consideration for age, HIV infection status, education, CD4 count, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and race/ethnicity. SETTING Brooklyn, NY. PARTICIPANTS 354 participants (247 HIV+, 107 HIV-), in the Brooklyn Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), average age 38.9 years, with measured levels of leptin and adiponectin (total and high molecular weight, HMW). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE Cognition. RESULTS Higher levels of leptin were positively associated with worse cognition on the basis of Trails A completion time and SDMT score. Among at risk HIV- women, leptin was associated with worse performance on Trails B. No associations were observed for total or HMW adiponectin. CONCLUSION Blood adipokine levels were measured to provide mechanistic insights regarding the association of adipose with cognitive function. These data suggest that higher levels of leptin, consistent with more adipose tissue, are associated with worse cognitive function in middle age. Monitoring leptin over time and with increasing age in relation to cognition and dementia, may lend insights to the role of adipose tissue in successful body and brain aging among women with HIV infection.

Abstract
For human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients, the 1990s were marked by the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) representing a new perspective of life for these patients. The use of HAART was shown to effectively suppress the replication of HIV-1 and dramatically reduce mortality and morbidity, which led to a better and longer quality of life for HIV-1-infected patients. Apart from the substantial benefits that result from the use of various HAART regimens, laboratory and clinical experience has shown that HAART can induce severe and considerable adverse effects related to metabolic complications of lipid metabolism, characterized by signs of lipodystrophy, insulin resistance, central adiposity, dyslipidemia, increased risk of cardiovascular disease and even an increased risk of atherosclerosis. New drugs are being studied, new therapeutic strategies are being implemented, and the use of statins, fibrates, and inhibitors of intestinal cholesterol absorption have been effective alternatives. Changes in diet and lifestyle have also shown satisfactory results.

Abstract
The prognosis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals has dramatically improved worldwide since the introduction of highly antiretroviral therapy. Nevertheless, along with the decrease in mortality, several body modifications not initially related to HIV infection have been reported. Disorders in lipid and glucose metabolism, accompanied by body shape abnormalities and alterations in fat distribution, began to be described. A syndrome, named "HIV-associated lipodystrophy syndrome", was coined to classify these clinical spectrum aspects. This syndrome involves not only metabolic alterations but also fat redistribution, with lipoatrophy due to subcutaneous fat loss (predominantly in the face and lower limbs) and lipohypertrophy related to central fat gain. These changes in body shape are very important to be recognized, as they are associated with worse morbidity and mortality. Self-esteem difficulties related to body alterations might lead to treatment failures due to medication adherence problems. Moreover, these alterations have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Therefore, it is extremely important to identify this syndrome early in order to provide an even better quality of life for this population, as the clinical approach is not easy. Treatment change, medications to treat dyslipidemia, and surgical intervention are instruments to be used to try to correct these abnormalities. The aim of this study is to review clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of body shape and metabolic complications of HIV infection from a Brazilian perspective, a medium income country with a large number of patients on antiretroviral therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Examine changes in, and factors associated with changing body mass index (BMI) in women following highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) initiation. METHODS 1177 HIV-infected Women's Interagency HIV Study participants who contributed 10,754 years of follow-up following HAART initiation were studied. Changes in median BMI up to 15 years following HAART initiation, and the highest and lowest BMI reached following HAART initiation were summarized by pre-HAART BMI category (<18.5 [underweight], 18.5-<25.0 [normal weight], 25.0-<30.0 [overweight], 30.0-<40.0 [obese], and ≥ 40.0 [morbidly obese]). Multivariate mixed effects ordinal logistic regression estimated the degree of association of each exposure of interest with post-HAART BMI. RESULTS Before HAART, 39% percent of women had normal BMI, 31% were overweight, 23% were obese, and 5% were morbidly obese. Following HAART initiation, median BMI change (per 5 years) was 0.21 kg/m2 (90% confidence interval [CI]: -1.33, 0.42) for those with normal pre-HAART BMI, 0.39 kg/m2 (90% CI: 0.15,0.66) for overweight, 0.31 kg/m2 (90% CI: -1.18,0.67) for obese, and -0.36kg/m2 for morbidly obese women. After initiating HAART, 40% with normal pre-HAART BMI became overweight at some point; of those overweight, 46% remained overweight and 47% became obese; 71% of obese women remained obese and 27% became morbidly obese. Each year of nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor use was associated with a 3% decreased odds of reaching a higher BMI category (OR 0.97, 95% CI: 0.95, 0.99), while each year of protease inhibitor or non-nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor use were associated with a 6% (OR 1.06, 95% CI: 1.04, 1.08) and 5%(OR 1.05, 95% CI: 1.01, 1.08) increased odds of having a higher BMI category, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Although overweight and obesity are highly prevalent in this large cohort of HIV-infected, minority women, HAART use was associated with only a modest increase in BMI over time.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the relationship of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) with cognition in women with (HIV+) and without HIV (HIV-) infection. One thousand six hundred ninety participants (1,196 HIV+, 494 HIV-) in the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) with data available on anthropometric measures comprise the analytical sample. Cross-sectional analyses using linear regression models estimated the relationship between anthropometric variables and Trails A, Trails B, Stroop interference time, Stroop word recall, Stroop color naming and reading, and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) with consideration for age, HIV infection status, Wide Range Achievement Test score, CD4 count, insulin resistance, drug use, and race/ethnicity. Among HIV+ women, BMI < 18.5 kg/m(2) was associated with poorer cognitive performance evidenced by longer Trails A and Trails B and shorter SDMT completion times. An obese BMI (30 kg/m(2) or higher) was related to better performance on Trails B and worse performance on the Stroop interference test. Among HIV- women, an obese BMI was related to worse performance on the Stroop color naming test. Few and inconsistent associations were observed between WC, WHR, and cognition. Among women at mid-life with chronic (at least 10 years) HIV infection, common anthropometric measures, primarily BMI, were differentially related to cognitive test performance by cognitive domain. Higher levels of BMI were associated with better cognitive function. In this era of antiretroviral therapies, restoration of health evidenced as higher BMI due to effective antiretroviral therapies, may improve cognitive function in middle-aged HIV-infected women.

Abstract
Many women living with HIV in the United States have entered or will soon enter menopause. Clinical changes including increased visceral fat, reduced muscle mass, and changes in lipids and bone density are seen across the menopause transition among non-infected women. HIV and antiretroviral therapy use have been associated with similar manifestations, including reduced bone density, and changes in lipid metabolism and body composition. Menopause is also associated with changes in mood, quality of life, and vasomotor symptoms. Similar psychological indices are common among women with HIV, and may worsen during menopause transition. Research investigating the presence and acuity of metabolic, psychological, and vasomotor symptoms among perimenopausal women with HIV is limited. An important, yet unknown consideration for researchers and clinicians is how metabolic and psychological co-morbidities associated with HIV will influence changes associated with menopause in this population. Further research is needed to provide answers to these important questions.

Abstract
Background Advanced HIV infection can result in lipoatrophy and wasting, even in the absence of ongoing opportunistic infections, suggesting that HIV may directly affect adipose tissue amount and distribution. Methods We assessed the relationship of fat (measured using anthropometry, DEXA, MRI scans) or markers related to glucose and lipid metabolism with viral load in a cross-sectional sample of 83 antiretroviral-naïve HIV-1-infected South African women. A multivariable linear model was fitted to log10VL to assess the combined effect of these variables. Results In addition to higher T cell activation, women with viral load greater than the population median had lower waist circumference, body mass index and subcutaneous abdominal fat, as well as lower serum leptin. We demonstrate that leptin serum levels are inversely associated with viral replication, independent of the amount of adipose tissue. This association is maintained after adjusting for multiple variables associated with disease progression (i.e., cellular activation and innate immunity effector levels). Conclusions Our results demonstrate that serum leptin levels are inversely associated with viral replication, independent of disease progression: we postulate that leptin may affect viral replication.

Abstract
Since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and the subsequent increased life expectancy in HIV-infected persons, non-HIV-related diseases have become an important cause of morbidity and mortality. This cross-sectional study reports the prevalence of overweight and obesity, and sociodemographic, psychological, and substance use-related risk factors for elevated body mass index (BMI) among 2157 HIV-seropositive (HIV+) in comparison to 730 HIV-seronegative (HIV-) participants in the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS). Separate univariable and multivariate linear regression analyses were completed for HIV+ and HIV- women. Our study revealed a similar proportion of obesity (body mass index [BMI] >or=30) among HIV+ (33%) and HIV- women (29%) (p = 0.12), as well as comparable median BMI (HIV+: 26.1 versus HIV-: 26.7, p = 0.16). HIV+ compared to HIV- women, respectively, were significantly (p < 0.01) older (median = 35.6 versus. 32.5), but similar (p = 0.97) by race/ethnicity (57% African American, 28% Hispanic, and 15% white for both). In multivariate models for both HIV+ and HIV- women, African American race/ethnicity was significantly (p < 0.05) associated with higher BMI, while higher quality of life score and illicit hard drug use were associated with lower BMI. Additionally, smoking, alcohol use, markers of advanced HIV infection (AIDS diagnosis, elevated HIV viral load, low CD4 count), and a history of antiretroviral therapy use (ART) were also associated with lower BMI among HIV+ women. In conclusion, risk factors for elevated BMI were similar for HIV+ and HIV- women in the WIHS. For HIV+ women, all markers of advanced HIV infection and ART use were additionally associated with lower BMI.

Abstract
Background Prevalence and factors associated with sexual dysfunction in HIV-positive women are poorly known. Methods This was a cross-sectional study in a cohort of HIV-infected women. Clinically stable women were invited to participate in a female sexual dysfunction (FSD) evaluation with Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) exploring desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, pain and satisfaction. An FSFI score <23 was used for defining FSD. Variables evaluated included body appearance satisfaction, interference of body changes with habits, social life and attitudinal aspects of body image, health-related quality of life, hormonal assessment, menopause, cumulative exposure to antiretroviral drug classes and immune-virological parameters. Lipodystrophy was defined according to the HIV Outpatient Study definition. Results A total of 185 women completed the FSFI. The mean (±sd) age was 42 years (±5), 27% had CDC stage C, the mean (±sd) CD4+ T-cell count was 508 cells/μl (±251) and median HIV RNA was 1.7 log10 copies/ ml (interquartile range 1.7–2.6). Among 161 evaluable patients, 59 (32%) reported FSD. In a multiple linear regression analysis, desire, arousal and satisfaction domains were associated with interference of body changes with habits, social life and attitudinal aspects of body image (β=0.22, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.06–0.37; β=0.29, 95% CI 0.10–0.48; and β=0.20, 95% CI 0.02–0.38, respectively). Lubrication and orgasm domains were associated with body image satisfaction (β=-0.49, 95% CI -0.88— 0.10 and β=-0.58, 95% CI -1.00—0.16, respectively). No significant associations with sex hormones, CDC stage, CD4+ T-cell count, HIV RNA viral load and cumulative exposure to antiretroviral drug classes were found. In women with FSD, severity of self-perceived abdominal fat accumulation showed a trend towards lower FSFI scores (ANOVA P=0.02). Conclusions FSD was highly prevalent in this cohort. Self-perceived body changes was identified as its major determinant.
