Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection. Risky behaviours such as non-condom use, smoking, and binge drinking tend to cluster within the same individuals, increasing their propensity to become infected with HPV. This study aimed to compare risk behaviours, including non-condom use, smoking, and frequent binge drinking, among HPV-vaccinated and unvaccinated young women in Denmark. METHODS Survey data from 14,614 young women aged 15-23 years from the Danish National Youth Study 2019 was used to analyze non-condom use, smoking, and frequent binge drinking. Data on HPV vaccination status was extracted from the Danish Vaccination Register. Associations were assessed using multilevel logistic regression. RESULTS In unadjusted analyses, the odds of non-condom use were higher among vaccinated women compared to unvaccinated women (OR: 1.30, 95% CI: 1.09-1.55). Associations were weaker and not statistically significant after adjustment for age. After adjusting for other demographic and socioeconomic factors, smoking, and binge drinking, the odds of non-condom use were 21% higher (95% CI: 1-44%) among vaccinated women than among unvaccinated women. When excluding women in steady relationships using hormonal contraceptives, the association was attenuated and no longer statistically significant. HPV vaccination status was not associated with smoking or binge drinking. CONCLUSIONS This study showed no clear association between being HPV vaccinated and risk behaviour including, smoking and binge drinking among young women. Non-condom use was more prevalent among the HPV-vaccinated women, but the results suggest that age, relationship status and hormonal contraceptive use may explain a considerable part of the association.

Abstract
Introduction Condyloma acuminatum (CA) is the most common sexually transmitted disease and the presence of microbiota dysbiosis has been observed to promote the progress of the disease. However, the explicit characteristics of microbiota dysbiosis in CA patients have not been well elucidated yet. Methods We recruited 40 CA patients who received QYXJ (an in-hospital prescription that has been used to treat CA for many years) treatment and 40 healthy controls (HC) in the current study. Before and after two weeks QYXJ administration, the skin microbiome of each patient was assessed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Results Here, we found increased relative abundances of Staphylococcus and Lactobacillus, whereas a decreased Escherichia in CA patients relative to healthy controls (HC). Moreover, we also observed significant alpha and beta diversity differences between the CA and HC groups, and QYXJ treatment effectivity attenuated these alterations of genus level and microbial diversity in patients with CA. Importantly, further microbial interaction and function analyses revealed the significantly enriched relative abundance of Caldivirga and Streptococcus in microbial community, decreased complexity of microbial interactions and downregulated metabolic pathways in CA patients, including membrane transport, lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism. Remarkably, QYXJ administration partially restored these microbiota dysbiosis, which subsequently shifts microbiomes of patients with CA towards healthy-like microbiota. Conclusion This study further confirmed the changes of skin microbiome in CA pathogenesis and firstly revealed the protective effects of QYXJ in microbiota dysbiosis resolution, suggesting its potential role as a novel method for CA treatment.

Abstract
SUMMARYMore than 40 types of sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV) infect the oropharyngeal and anogenital mucosa-high-risk types are associated with precancerous and cancerous lesions of the cervix, vagina, vulva, penis, anus, and oropharynx, and low-risk types cause non-malignant disease, such as anogenital warts. Though most HPV infections resolve spontaneously, immunodeficiencies may result in persistent infection and increased risk of HPV-related sequelae. The mechanism by which HPV results in malignant transformation is multifaceted, involving interactions with numerous cellular pathways, the host immune system, and potentially the host microbiome. Vaccination against HPV is highly efficacious in the prevention of infection and related sequelae, and there now exist several approved formulations that protect against both high- and low-risk types. Despite the advent of vaccination, early detection and treatment of cervical and anal precancerous lesions continues to be integral to secondary prevention-molecular HPV testing, cytology, and tissue biopsy allow for triaging of patients, after which appropriate treatment with close follow-up can avert cancer development.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Given the therapeutic challenge of wart treatment and the need for an ideal treatment that is effective, noninvasive, cost-effective, and has minimal side effects, this study aims to compare the local impact of a 5% potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution with cryotherapy, the current standard treatment for genital warts. METHODS Two groups, each consisting of 49 patients: the first group was treated with a daily topical application of 5% KOH solution using a swab, while the second group underwent cryotherapy in two 5-20 s freeze-thaw cycles. Before treatment, patient demographic data and number of lesions were recorded. Follow-up visits were conducted at four-week intervals for 12 weeks, during which the number of lesions, time to complete recovery, and skin-related side effects were examined and recorded, ensuring comprehensive data collection. RESULTS A total of 98 patients (average age: 28.40 ± 7.34 years), 55 cases (55.1%) being female and 43 cases (43.9%) being male. Importantly, there was no significant difference in terms of gender (p = .684), education (p = .533), and marital status (p = .703) between the two study groups. Further, no significant difference in previous infection history (p = .493) and partner infection (p = .098) was identified. There was no significant difference in terms of treatment response (p = .510) and relapse (p < .999) between the two KOH and cryotherapy study groups. CONCLUSION The study found no significant differences in treatment response, relapse rates, or side effects between using 5% potassium hydroxide solution and cryotherapy for genital wart treatment. These findings suggest that both modalities offer comparable efficacy and safety profiles, providing clinicians with valuable options in tailoring treatment approaches for patients with genital warts.

Abstract
One of the most significant breakthroughs in cancer research has been the identification of persistent infection with certain human papillomaviruses (HPV) genotypes as the cause of cervical cancer. Since then, a range of diagnostic and therapeutic methods has been developed based on this discovery. This article aims to describe the latest updates in the biology, prevention, and treatment of HPV-related cervical cancer. The current state of knowledge regarding vaccinations, diagnostic tests, and cervical cancer therapies is presented. The latest WHO guidelines on vaccinations are presented, as well as announcements of upcoming changes. The final part of the article summarizes promising new diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as perspectives and the latest research findings on self-administered diagnostic tests, the use of therapeutic vaccines, and circulating cell-free DNA in diagnosis. Despite the significant progress made in recent years, the strategy based on vaccination and testing remains the cornerstone in the fight against HPV-related cervical cancer.

Abstract
Anal condyloma acuminatum (ACA) has a high incidence and recurrence rate in people living with HIV (PWH) but there are few studies to systematically characterize its clinical features. We aimed to analysis the clinical features in PWH with ACA and elucidate the risk factors of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. In total, 208 patients who had ACA surgically excised were enrolled (including 123 ACA subjects with HIV infection) from December 1, 2020, to June 31, 2023, and the sex, age, occupation, marital status, new versus recurrent, HPV genotypes, and treatment history of patients were involved. The HIV viral, CD4 and CD8 cell counts, and the antiretroviral therapy (ART) were also obtained from PWH. PWH with ACA were more likely to be male, employee, and age 19-59 and less likely to be under 18 or over 60 years old (p < .05). The proportion of high-risk HPV infection (30.1%) and triple or more HPV infection (20.5%) in PWH with ACA was significantly higher than those in patients without HIV infection (15.3% and 1.3%, respectively). Moreover, the prevalence of high-risk HPV infection (62.1%) and multiple HPV infection (76.0%) in PWH who were not on ART was significantly higher than those who received ART (20.0%,28.2%, respectively). The conditional logistic regression analysis suggested HIV positivity as the primary risk factor for the high-risk HPV infection in ACA and no ART is a risk factor for high-risk HPV infection. In conclusion, PWH with ACA are more likely to have a high-risk HPV and therefore will be at increased risk for anal SCC, and this risk can in part be mitigated using ART. PWH should start ART as soon as possible after diagnosis. And for PWH with ACA, routine histopathological evaluation and HPV typing of intra-anal warts and follow-up and treatment of all dysplastic warts should be recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination represents a cost-effective strategy for preventing HPV-related diseases across genders. However, the HPV vaccine has not been approved for mainland Chinese males, and the comprehensive epidemiological landscape of HPV among Chinese males from mainland China is limited. METHODS This study aimed to address this gap by examining HPV infection data in Chinese males from January 2012 to September 2024. Four English databases (Web of Science, Embase, Medline, and Cochrane Library) and four Chinese databases (CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, and SinoMed) were systematically reviewed. Random effect models assessed pooled HPV prevalence, and subgroup analyses were conducted based on population (outpatients vs. health checkups). Genotype-specific HPV positivity was calculated. RESULTS A total of 296 studies were included, encompassing 199,233 outpatients and 16,452 health checkups. HPV prevalence was 52.45% among outpatients, with the most prevalent subtypes being HPV 6 (19.06%), 11 (13.71%), and 16 (8.29%). Among health checkups, HPV prevalence was 7.89%, with the highest prevalence subtypes being HPV 16 (3.66%), 52 (1.37%), and 58 (1.19%). Among male patients diagnosed with cancer, HPV 16 (18.50%) and 18 (5.33%) were the most common subtypes, and HPV prevalence was 82.11% among the HIV-positive MSM population. CONCLUSION The high prevalence of HPV among Chinese males, particularly among outpatients and the HIV-positive MSM population, underscores the urgent need for targeted prevention strategies. The common subtypes identified in this analysis highlight the potential benefits of introducing HPV prophylactic vaccines to Chinese males, which could significantly reduce the burden of HPV-related diseases across the population.

Abstract
Viral outbreaks are common in the sport community. Data regarding the prevalence of plantar warts, genital warts, herpes simplex type 1 (herpes labialis), herpes zoster, and genital herpes in competitive swimmers are lacking in the literature. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of those viral infections among young competitive swimmers participating in Greek swimming clubs. Swimmers' parents and adult swimmers were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire. In total, 1047 swimmers enrolled in this study. The measured parameters included gender, age, times of infections, and seasons when athletes may be more susceptible to infections. Practicing information such as type of swimming facility, number of training years, average hours of daily training, behaviors in swimming practice, and sunlight exposure was also recorded. All infections showed a significant difference in relation to "age" and "years of training". The gender significance was observed in herpes labialis (p = 0.016) and plantar warts (p = 0.05). The prevalence of all infections in swimmers who use outdoor facilities was higher. Certain behaviors such as walking barefoot on a pool deck and sharing swimming equipment correlate with herpes simplex and plantar warts. Virus infections can affect swimmers of all ages. In our study, plantar warts and herpes labialis are more common in swimmers. Herpes zoster and sexually transmitted viruses are rarer and affect adult swimmers. The impact of cutaneous infections on swimmers can affect performance and well-being. Effective prevention and management are essential to avoid complications. Proper hygiene, medical guidance, and treatment reduce swimmers' exposure to skin viruses.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the prevalence of anogenital warts (AGW) caused by human papillomavirus in men and the characteristics and changes of the disease in Korea. MATERIALS AND METHODS From 2007 to 2018, male AGW corresponding to the International Classification of Disease-10 A63.0 were targeted. Through a big data analysis of the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, data of patients diagnosed with AGW as either the main or secondary diagnosis were extracted. The overall prevalence and prevalence by age were calculated through the population by year and the population by 5-year-old unit of the National Statistical Office. Additionally, the amount accrued through the disease code was confirmed and compared as AGW-related medical expenses. RESULTS The annual number of patients increased by 3.5 times from 32,709 in 2007 to 114,734 in 2018. Additionally, the annual prevalence increased by 3.34 times from 132.83 per 100,000 to 443.57. The age-specific prevalence was the highest among the 25- to 29-year age group. The highest prevalence was observed in the 25- to 29-year age group in 2018 (1,492.15 per 100,000), and the lowest was noted in the 10- to 14-year age group in 2014 (7.28 per 100,000). AGW-related medical expenses increased by approximately 9.76 times from US$ 2,789,215.1 in 2007 to US$ 27,227,254.9 in 2018. CONCLUSIONS In Korea, cases of male AGW are increasing yearly, with the 25- to 29-year age group having the highest prevalence. Medical costs related to AGW are also increasing tenfold. For male AGW, further studies and national interventions are needed.

Abstract
Condyloma acuminata (CA) is a common manifestation of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection affecting the urogenital tract. While external genital lesions are frequently encountered, urethral involvement presents a therapeutic challenge due to the risk of recurrence and long-term complications such as urethral stricture. We present a case of urethral condyloma acuminata in a 43-year-old male patient who demonstrated favorable progression following electrocoagulation therapy. The patient presented with urethrorrhagia and lower urinary tract symptoms, with subsequent diagnosis confirmed via urological examination. Negative results from extensive microbiological testing supported the diagnosis. Treatment involved biopsy excision combined with electrocoagulation, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms without recurrence at 2-month follow-up. This case underscores the importance of individualized treatment strategies for intraurethral condyloma acuminata and highlights electrocoagulation therapy as a viable option with favorable outcomes.

Abstract
Introduction Anogenital warts (AGW) are sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), particularly types 6 and 11. The highest incidence of AGW occurs in the age group of 15-24 years. However, as life expectancy increases, there is a significant rise in the geriatric population worldwide. This demographic shift is directly proportional to the increasing number of STIs cases within the geriatric group. Cases A case of AGW was reported in a 75-year-old man who had a history of erectile dysfunction medication use and recent sexual contact. During the physical examination, a hyperpigmented plaque with a verrucous surface was observed at the base of the penis. The results of the histopathological examination were consistent with the characteristics of AGW. In addition, HPV genotyping, through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) showed the presence of HPV type 6. Discussion The aging process leads to a decline in immune function among geriatric individuals, which causes susceptibility to infections, including STIs. Moreover, the geriatric population has a different level of susceptibility to STIs compared to younger individuals. Factors such as physiological changes, decreased sexual function, low awareness of STIs, and having multiple sexual partners further increase the risk of STIs in this age group. Conclusion Sexual intercourse is an important component of the human life. However, the natural decline in sexual function due to the aging process often occurs with advancing age. As a result, many geriatrics seek various solutions in order to maintain sexual function and activity in old age. Since STIs can occur at any age, early detection and education are essential, particularly for the geriatric population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Condyloma acuminata (CA) is a common, and recurrent sexually transmitted disease (STD) that greatly contributes to direct health care costs and has a substantial psychosocial impact. Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination (containing L1 protein for HPV types 6 and 11) effectively controls CA. OBJECTIVES We investigated attitudes toward the HPV vaccine for CA and willingness to undergo vaccination among STD clinic attendees in China. METHODS Attendees at STD clinics at two selected hospitals in Guangdong and Jiangsu Provinces from May to September 2017 were requested to complete a self-administered questionnaire for this cross-sectional study. RESULTS The participants' median age was 28 years (IQR: 24.0-34.0), and the sex ratio was balanced; 63.5% were from Guangdong, 36.5% were from Jiangsu, and 44.5% had a history of CA. The vaccine acceptance rate was high among the participants (85.8%,235/274) to whom the HPV vaccine for CA was available, especially among those who had heard of CA (89.0%, AOR = 3.14, 95% CI: 1.29-7.63, p = 0.0114). 95 (34.7%) of 274 participants had a positive attitude toward the HPV vaccine for CA. STD clinic attendees who had heard of the connection between HPV and CA (AOR = 2.56, 95% CI: 1.31-5.00, p = 0.0060), had heard of the HPV vaccines or cervical cancer vaccines (AOR = 1.90, 95% CI: 1.02-3.54, p = 0.0444) and had ever proactively discussed CA or the vaccine with others (AOR = 1.95, 95% CI:1.00-3.79, p = 0.0488) had better attitudes toward the HPV vaccine for CA. Over half of the participants (52.5%) expected the price of the HPV vaccine for CA to be under $90. CONCLUSION The acceptance of the HPV vaccine for CA was high among STD clinic attendees in China, and the participants' self-perceived knowledge of CA and HPV was associated with better attitudes toward the HPV vaccine for CA. Education to improve knowledge is vital for reducing vaccine hesitancy.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection among young women. Notably, more than ten years after the introduction of HPV vaccination programs in Europe, it is essential to review the real-world evidence of the incidence of anogenital warts (GWs) among women vaccinated during childhood. In this systematic review, three databases were searched for studies published between January 2008 and September 2023. Nine cohort studies were included. A total of 890,320 HPV-vaccinated women and 1,922,033 unvaccinated women were evaluated. All the studies but one investigated the 4vHPV vaccine. The incidence rate of GWs in vaccinated women ranged from 0.0 to 1650 per 100,000 person-years. The highest incidence rates were found in women vaccinated with one dose at the age of 17-19 years old and in fully vaccinated women only after 19 years of age. Similar incidence values were reported among unvaccinated women. The incidence of GWs was lower when the age at first dose was 9-11 years old. This systematic review reveals that the incidence of GWs among HPV-vaccinated women is related to the age of vaccination and the number of vaccine doses received. In the post-vaccination era, epidemiological surveillance of the incidence of GWs and their genotypes is crucial.

Abstract
Extragenital warts caused by HPV types 6 and 11 are rarely reported. However, major risk factors for anogenital warts (AGW) include men who have sex with men (MSM) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. The incidence of extragenital warts among these populations has not been reported. This study presented a case report of a 33-year-old male with high-risk sexual behavior who showed symptoms of flesh-colored and hyperpigmentation papules. Furthermore, verrucous surfaces were observed at genital and extragenital. The patient had a history of using the same razor for pubic and armpit hair, bathing with a mesh scrub, and scratching the anal area. The histopathological result showed koilocytes, while polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination for both genital and extragenital lesions confirmed HPV type 6 and 11. This represented the first reported case describing the incidence of extragenital and AGW caused by HPV types 6 and 11. The transmission of extragenital warts was facilitated through fomites autoinoculation, particularly in the immunocompromised condition induced by HIV, which was common among MSM. Extragenital warty-like lesions were considered as warts caused by HPV type 6/11, in HIV-infected persons, specifically MSM.

Abstract
Background Anogenital warts (AGWs) are a prevalent condition resulting from human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which is the most frequently encountered sexually transmitted infection (STI) on a global scale. Women who are HIV-positive experience a disproportionately high burden of AGWs compared to other populations. It is imperative to comprehend the epidemiological factors linked to the disease within this particular at-risk population. Objectives The objective of the study was to ascertain the prevalence of AGWs and its demographic and socio-biological epidemiological features among recently diagnosed HIV-positive women (HPW) in Lagos, Nigeria. Materials and methods The research was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted among a sample of 420 recently diagnosed HPW. The study was conducted at the HIV clinic of a tertiary health institution located in Lagos, Nigeria. The participants clinically diagnosed with AGWs were classified as the study group, while individuals without AGWs were classified as the comparison group. Interviewer-administered pretested questionnaires were utilized to gather pertinent demographic and socio-biological epidemiological data from the participants involved in the study. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 23.0 (Released 2015; IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, USA). Results The prevalence of AGWs among recently diagnosed HPW was found to be 8.5% (34/402). These warts were frequently observed on the vulvar labia (35.3%, 12/34), vaginal walls (14.7%, 5/34), and perianal region (14.7%, 5/34). It is worth noting that over a third of cases (35.3%, 12/34) involved multiple areas within the anogenital region. The diagnosis of AGWs was found to have significant associations with occupation (p=0.005), marital status (p<0.001), and educational status (p=0.028). The majority of HPW diagnosed with AGWs were unemployed (32.4%, 11/34), single (47.1%, 16/34), and did not have tertiary education (94.1%, 32/34). The utilization of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), smoking, low CD4 count, and high viral load were the significant socio-biological factors associated with the diagnosis of AGWs (p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion The study found that the prevalence of AGW among HPW was 8.5% (34/402). Several epidemiological factors, including occupation, marital status, education, CD4 count, viral load, history of OCP use, and smoking, were found to be significantly associated with the diagnosis of AGW. There is a need to conduct more comprehensive studies to thoroughly assess the impact of these epidemiological factors.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus is known to cause cervical and anogenital cancer and benign anogenital and cutaneous warts. Both males and females can contract the virus during sexual intercourse and skin-to-skin contact. Communities in low- and middle-income countries, including Africa, are particularly suffering from human papillomavirus-related diseases, mainly cervical cancer. Vaccination is the most economical and efficient prevention strategy to control human papillomavirus-related diseases. Undoubtedly, to control all types of human papillomavirus-related morbidity and mortality, the entire at-risk, sexually active population needs to be vaccinated regardless of their sex. However, the vaccination program, particularly in Africa, the world's most resource-limited region, is habitually limited to the female population, considering only the burden of cervical cancer. We think that it is impossible to fully mitigate the human papillomavirus infection by vaccinating only the female population, while males can carry and pass the virus. In addition, marginalizing males from this program seems to violate gender inequality and their sexual and reproductive health rights. Hence, we voice the need for global and local governments to consider and customize human papillomavirus vaccination programs for the male population. Also, it is better to consider the male population in different research studies regarding human papillomavirus-related malignant and benign conditions.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) can be vertically transmitted. Our objective was to measure the association between the mode of delivery and the detection of HPV in infants. We used data collected from pregnant women during the HERITAGE study. Self-collected vaginal samples from the first and third trimester were obtained for HPV testing. Specimens from oral, pharyngeal, conjunctival and anogenital mucosa were collected from infants 36-48 h after delivery and at 3 months of age. All samples were tested for HPV DNA by the Linear Array assay. Adjusted odd ratios (aOR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were estimated using multivariate logistic regressions. From the 282 women revealed to be HPV-positive in both the first and third trimesters, 25 infants were born HPV-positive. The overall probability of transmission was 8.9% (25/282); 3.7% (3/81) in participants with a caesarean section and 10.9% (22/201) for those who delivered vaginally. Vaginal delivery increased the risk of HPV in infants compared to caesarean (aOR: 3.63, 95%CI: 1.03-12.82). Infants born after a caesarean with ruptured membranes were not at increased risk of HPV compared to infants born after an elective caesarean section with intact membranes (aOR: 1.31, 95%CI: 0.10-17.76). Our results support the hypothesis that transmission occurs mostly during the passage in the vaginal canal.

Abstract
Adolescents are the primary cohort for routine human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, but unvaccinated adults may also benefit. A lack of consensus on which adults to target and the presence of reimbursement barriers likely contribute to the lag in adult vaccinations, highlighting missed prevention opportunities. Understanding factors contributing to risk of HPV infection and disease could help in decision making on vaccination. This review summarizes existing literature on risk factors for HPV infection and disease and includes 153 studies reporting relative risks or odds ratios for factors associated with HPV infection or disease in adults, published between 2009 and 2020. Despite inconsistent design and reporting of risk factors across studies, this review confirmed several risk factors associated with adult infection, including human immunodeficiency virus positivity, number of sex partners, and smoking. These findings can support policymaking, guideline development, and clinical decision making for HPV vaccination and screening of high-risk adult groups.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anogenital warts (AGWs) caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) are a common manifestation of HPV infection. Treatment strategies generally include topical therapies to promote wart regression or removal through surgical or other means. These strategies are effective but are associated with high rates of recurrence. HPV vaccines are known to be effective for prevention of AGWs yet preliminary data suggest they may offer therapeutic benefit for regression of active AGWs. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine the efficacy of HPV vaccines for treatment of active AGWs. METHODS A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews was conducted in July 2023 with no limits on date of publication. The search was supplemented with a manual review of references from identified articles and pertinent review articles. Articles were included if they reported at least one patient with active AGWs who received at least one dose of any HPV vaccine. The primary outcome of interest was complete or partial regression of AGWs over any time period. Risk of bias was assessed for each study meeting inclusion criteria. RESULTS Seven articles were included. These included 1 randomized controlled trial (RCT), 1 non-RCT, 3 case series, and 2 case reports. All were deemed to have a high risk of bias. Study results showed evidence that HPV vaccines may offer therapeutic benefits to those with active AGWs. Studies reported outcomes for both intralesional and systemically administered vaccines. Outcomes reported improvement according to both partial and complete regression of AGWs. CONCLUSION This review found that there is evidence that HPV vaccines may have a role in the treatment of active AGWs. Findings support the notion that the vaccine should be offered to previously unvaccinated patients but the role of intralesional administration of the vaccine to vaccinated patients is still unclear.

Abstract
With a prevalence of around 1% in the sexually active population anogenital warts are the most frequent human papillomavirus (HPV)-related disease. In the vast majority of cases the underlying cause of the infection is due to HPV types 6 and 11. The diagnosis can usually be clinically established but in certain cases a histopathological work-up can be useful. Buschke-Lowenstein tumors represent such a scenario. The current therapeutic armamentarium for anogenital warts ranges from surgical ablative procedures up to local immunomodulatory treatment. All procedures have different advantages and disadvantages and are relatively time-consuming and sometimes also unpleasant for the patient. Anogenital warts are also a possible expression of an incomplete immunological control of HPV. Therefore, it should be emphasized that for certain affected individuals, especially immunosuppressed patients, special attention should be given to ensuring that screening investigations for HPV-associated dysplasia is carried out according to the respective valid guidelines. The primary prophylaxis by vaccination of girls and boys prior to first HPV exposure represents a very effective option to drastically reduce the prevalence of anogenital warts and other HPV-related diseases.

Abstract
Introduction Condyloma acuminatum usually occurs in the external genitalia and rarely in the bladder mucosa. Here, we report a case of condyloma acuminatum of the bladder that was detected concurrently with urothelial carcinoma. Case presentation A 42-year-old man was referred to our urology department with positive urine cytology for urothelial carcinoma. Cystoscopy revealed a broad-base nonpapillary bladder tumor. The patient underwent a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor. Pathological examination revealed urothelial carcinoma, high-grade pT1, and concurrent resection of condyloma acuminatum. DNA was extracted from the paraffin-embedded transurethral resection of the bladder tumor tissue specimens. HPV11 was detected in condylomas by PCR and in situ hybridization, whereas HPV was not detected in urothelial carcinomas. Conclusion We report a rare case of condyloma acuminatum of the bladder that was concurrently diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma from the same site.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) affects approximately 80% of individuals, irrespective of gender, and is implicated in various cancers. Existing HPV vaccines, while safe and effective, do not sufficiently protect males when administered solely to females. This review, triggered by the urgent need to address this gap and reduce the associated stigma, aims to evaluate the introduction of a gender-neutral HPV vaccine, GARDASIL-9, in India. The primary objective is to assess the necessity and feasibility of incorporating the gender-neutral HPV vaccine into India's national immunization program. This integration is crucial to ensure equitable access for all children and to mitigate the substantial burden of HPV. A literature search was conducted using databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, government websites, and relevant publications. Keywords included "gender-neutral vaccine", "HPV vaccine", and "Indian population". The central research question guiding this review is: How necessary and feasible is the inclusion of a gender-neutral HPV vaccine in India's national immunization schedule to ensure equitable access for all children and reduce the HPV burden? The review inclusion criteria comprised studies addressing the prevalence of HPV infections, HPV vaccination awareness among both genders, the cost-effectiveness of gender-neutral vaccines, current HPV vaccination status, and future perspectives specific to India. Studies not meeting these criteria were excluded. The review highlights that introducing a gender-neutral HPV vaccine in India is imperative. Including males in vaccination efforts significantly reduces the overall disease burden and helps in reducing the stigma associated with HPV. A comprehensive vaccination program, bolstered by education and awareness campaigns, and its inclusion in the national immunization schedule is essential. This approach ensures equitable access to the vaccine for all children, fostering a healthier community, preventing HPV-related cancers, and enhancing public health outcomes in India.

Abstract
Background Limited research exists regarding the association between smoking and anal warts. In this study, we evaluated this association among a clinic-based Hispanic population in Puerto Rico. Methods Cross-sectional study among eligible patients seen at the Anal Neoplasia Clinic of the University of Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center (2016-2023) (n = 920). Sociodemographic and clinical variables were collected from medical records. Patients underwent a high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) during the clinical visit; physicians assessed anal condylomas on HRA. Poisson regression models with robust standard errors were used to evaluate the association between smoking and anal warts. Demographic and clinical factors were also assessed. Results The mean age of participants was 45.8 ± 13.1 years, 66.4 % were men, and 21.6 % were current smokers. While 10.8 % self-reported a history of anogenital condylomas, 18.9 % had anal condylomas on clinical evaluation. A higher prevalence of anal condylomas was observed among current smokers (PR = 1.28, 95 % CI: 0.94-1.75) in comparison to non-smokers in adjusted analysis, but this was not statistically significant. However, a higher prevalence of anal condylomas was observed among younger individuals (PR = 0.96, 95 % CI: 0.96-0.98) and individuals with anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) as compared to those with benign histology (PR = 1.74. 95 % CI: 1.09-2.77). Conclusions Although current smoking seemed to be positively associated with anal condylomas in this high-risk Hispanic population, this finding was not statistically significant as the power to detect an association was limited. However, younger age and HSIL diagnosis were associated with a higher prevalence of anal condylomas.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prophylactic immunization is important for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients; however, there are insufficient data on the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs), vaccination rates, and factors influencing vaccination. MATERIALS AND METHODS The incidence and prevalence of VPDs in HIV-infected patients between 2006 and 2017 were estimated using the Korean HIV/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) cohort database. In addition, we evaluated the vaccination rates and influencing factors for vaccination in HIV-infected patients through multilevel analysis of clinico-epidemiological factors, immune status, and psychological status. A questionnaire survey was conducted among experts to determine whether they recommend vaccination for HIV-infected patients. RESULTS The incidence rates of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, herpes zoster, and anogenital warts were 1.74, 7.38, and 10.85 per 1,000 person-years, respectively. The prevalence of HBV infection and anogenital warts at enrollment was 4.8% and 8.6%, respectively, which increased to 5.3% and 12.0%, respectively, by 2017. In HIV-infected patients, HBV (21.7% in 2008, 56.3% in 2013, and 75.4% in 2017) and pneumococcal vaccination rates (3.0% in 2015, 7.6% in 2016, and 9.6% in 2017) increased annually, whereas the influenza vaccination rate remained similar by season (32.7 - 35.6%). In the multilevel analysis, peak HIV viral load (≥50 copies/mL: odds ratio [OR] = 0.64, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.44 - 0.93; reference, <50 copies/mL) was an influencing factor for pneumococcal vaccination, while nadir CD4 T-cell counts (200 - 350 cells/mm3: OR = 0.54, 95% CI: 0.38 - 0.76; <200 cells/mm3: OR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.62 - 1.28; reference, ≥350 cells/mm3) was an influencing factor for HBV vaccination. Influenza vaccination was associated with male sex (OR = 1.94) and the number of antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen change (OR = 1.16), but was not significantly associated with HIV viral load or CD4 T-cell counts. Most experts responded that they administer hepatitis A virus, HBV, pneumococcal, and influenza vaccines routinely, but not human papillomavirus (12.9%) or herpes zoster vaccines (27.1%). CONCLUSION The burden of vaccine-preventable diseases was quite high in HIV-infected patients. Nadir CD4 T-cell counts, peak HIV viral loads, and the number of ART regimen change are significant factors related to vaccination. Considering the low vaccination rates for VPDs, there was a discordance between experts' opinions and real clinical practice in the medical field.

Abstract
Anogenital warts (AGWs) are globally recognized as the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), particularly types 6 and 11. Meanwhile, immunotherapy is one of the treatments of choice for patients with extensive AGWs. Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine induce the production of various T helper 1 cytokines to elicit immune responses, resulting in the clearance of both treated and untreated warts. This study reported a case of extensive genital and extragenital warts in a 53-year-old male which had occurred for five years, with no pseudo-Koebner phenomenon. The history of MMR vaccination was uncertain but the patient received oral antibiotics for one week, one month before seeking consultation. Physical examination showed extensive verrucous and hyperkeratotic papules, plaques, and nodules in the lower abdomen, pubic, inguinal, genital, and gluteal regions. Acetowhite test results were positive, while polymerase chain reaction (PCR) results were positive for HPV types 6 and 11. The patient received an intralesional injection of 0.5 mL MMR vaccine into the largest warts with a 3-week interval. However, during the one-month follow-up after the third injection, no improvement was observed in either the size or number of warts. Based on the results, several factors must be considered to determine the best candidate for immunotherapy, particularly with MMR vaccine, to achieve an optimal outcome. These factors include the active state of diseases, duration of diseases, as well as a history of sensitization, and broad-spectrum antibiotics.

Abstract
Introduction Anogenital warts (AGW) is one of the sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Treatment modalities of AGW yield low clearance and recurrence rate, so that chemical cautery with trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and electrosurgery are widely used to remove the lesions without any severe side effects. Objective To investigate the efficacy of chemical cautery with TCA and electrosurgery in AGW based on clinical trials or case series. Methods The systematic review was reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) but not registered to the International Prospective Register of Systematic Review (PROSPERO). To acquire proper and accurate information from relevant literature, two databases PubMed and the Cochrane Library were searched from January 2013 to March 2023. Results Thirteen studies were included in this systematic review, comprising seven articles on chemical cautery and six electrosurgery articles. The highest cure rate of chemical cautery with TCA was 94.1% while electrosurgery was 100%. A relatively low recurrence rate during 1 year follow-up was observed in electrosurgery with 14.6%, whereas the chemical cautery was 27.6%. Conclusion Electrosurgery for AGW treatment had higher cure rate with lower recurrence rate compared to chemical cautery with TCA. Numerous adverse effects of electrosurgery were reported include bleeding and scar formation as high risk of HPV infection.

Abstract
This case report shows the use of computed tomography (CT) imaging in evaluating a 53-year-old male patient presenting with anogenital wart like lesions. The patient was suspected of having condyloma acuminata. The significant extent of condyloma acuminata, as seen in this case, is a relatively uncommon finding. CT was ordered to help assess for local invasion and malignancy. This report also discusses Buschke-Lowenstein tumors, the rare malignant transformation of giant condyloma acuminata in the anogenital region. Invasion and malignancy in condyloma acuminata must be evaluated as they can have a poor and even fatal prognosis. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of condyloma acuminata and CT ruled out regional invasion, and metastatic disease. Additionally, the role of imaging in planning surgical excision is discussed. This case highlights the value of CT in the clinical diagnosis and management of condyloma acuminata.

Abstract
Benign conditions of the colon and rectum are a heterogeneous group of conditions that range from inflammatory to infectious to pelvic floor health conditions that affect large segments of the US population. These conditions include diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, and anorectal lesions. The initial presentation of these very common conditions often occurs in the outpatient primary care setting, and most can be managed by the primary care clinician. This article will provide an overview on the prevalence, diagnosis, and management of some of the most common benign colorectal disorders; these are broadly divided into diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, and anorectal conditions.

Abstract
The term 'proactive therapy' refers to a long-term management of clinically intact skin in previously disease-affected areas. This method was initially implemented in atopic dermatitis to maintain the remission and decrease the risk of exacerbations. Proactive therapy aims to limit the need for reactive treatment and improve the patients' quality of life. A proactive approach is likely to be adopted for other relapsing and inflammatory skin conditions in the future. This scoping review aims to identify dermatological conditions to be treated with the proactive approach, evaluate the available evidence for its efficacy and safety, as well as highlight the research gaps.

Abstract
Background In 2008/9, Fiji vaccinated >30,000 girls aged 9-12 years with the quadrivalent human papillomavirus (4vHPV) vaccine coverage for at least one dose was >60% (one dose only was 14%, two dose only was 13%, three doses was 35%). We calculated vaccine effectiveness (VE) of one, two and three doses of 4vHPV against oncogenic HPV genotypes 16/18, eight years following vaccination. Methods A retrospective cohort study was undertaken (2015-2019) in pregnant women ≤23 years old, eligible to receive 4vHPV in 2008/9, with confirmed vaccination status. The study was restricted to pregnant women due to the cultural sensitivity of asking about sexual behavior in Fiji. For each participant a clinician collected a questionnaire, vaginal swab and genital warts examination, a median eight (range 6-11) years post vaccination. HPV DNA was detected by molecular methods. Adjusted VE (aVE) against the detection of vaccine HPV genotypes (16/18), the comparison group of non-vaccine genotypes (31/33/35/39/45/51/52/56/58/59/66/68), and genital warts were calculated. Covariates included in the adjusted model were: age, ethnicity and smoking, according to univariate association with any HPV detection. Findings Among 822 participants the prevalence of HPV 16/18 in the unvaccinated, one, two and three-dose groups were 13.3% (50/376), 2.5% (4/158), 0% (0/99) and 1.6% (3/189), respectively; and for the non-vaccine high-risk genotypes, the detection rate was similar across dosage groups (33.2%-40.4%, p = 0.321). The aVE against HPV 16/18 for one, two and three doses were 81% (95% CI; 48-93%), 100% (95% CI; 100-100%), and 89% (95% CI; 64-96%), respectively. Prevalence of HPV 16/18 was lower among women with longer time since vaccination. Interpretations A single dose 4vHPV vaccine is highly effective against HPV genotypes 16 and 18 eight years following vaccination. Our results provide the longest duration of protection for reduced dose 4vHPV schedule in a low- or middle-income country in the Western Pacific region. Abstract
Purpose This study aims to analyze the distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes and the associations of demographic characteristics with HPV infection among women with condyloma acuminatum (CA) in Henan Province of China. Methods From January 2019 to October 2022, 702 women with CA were sampled for HPV subtypes and surveyed by questionnaire at Henan Provincial People's Hospital. The HPV genotype was tested by flow-through hybridization after polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results The location of warts was mainly vulva. The age of the subjects was mainly distributed in the 20-29-year-old, followed by 30-39-year-old. The most common subtypes were HPV 6 (43.59%), 11 (24.93%), 16 (11.82%), 52 (7.83%), 58 (7.55%), 51 (7.26%), 61 (5.70%), 39 (5.56%), 18 (5.13%), and 54 (4.70%), our results also suggested that HPV 6 and 11 were the dominant genotypes in each age group. The infection of low-risk HPV (LR-HPV) (74.50%) and single HPV (47.01%) were the main categories. In terms of educational level, women with senior high school or above were inclined to infect single and pure-LR HPV. Unmarried status, sometimes or never condom use increased the chances of multiple, pure high-risk (HR) and mixed HPV infections. Women with multiple sex partners were more likely to cause multiple and mixed HPV infections. Conclusion Our experimental data on the prevalence and subtype distribution of HPV in women with CA could provide valuable reference for preventing CA in Henan Province. The application of the nine-valent vaccine provides a broad prospect for female CA prevention.

Abstract
Genital warts (GWs) caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) are a significant health problem due to high prevalence and rate of recurrence. Bivalent vaccine has been used since the start of the national vaccination program in 2013, making it feasible to study the GW burden in Finland. There is no national and up-to-date information available on the prevalence and the burden of GWs in the various healthcare sectors in Finland. The present study investigated the prevalence, healthcare resource use, and direct medical costs of the treatment of GWs in Finland in 2018 using data in national healthcare registers. GW cases were identified based on diagnoses in public healthcare and GW-related prescription medications. Cost analysis included public healthcare contacts, procedures in private care, and medications. The study showed that approximately 12,000 GWs cases were treated in Finland in 2018. Since less than half of GW diagnoses were recorded in public healthcare registers, determining the exact costs was challenging. The estimated direct treatment costs in 2018 were 2.6 M€, which is higher than the previous estimation in Finland, yet still likely an underestimation of the true burden. These results provide information for the management of the GW burden in Finland.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sex and gender have increasingly been recognized as significant risk factors for many diseases, including dermatological conditions. Historically, sex and gender have often been grouped together as a single risk factor in the scientific literature. However, both may have a distinct impact on disease incidence, prevalence, clinical presentation, severity, therapeutic response, and associated psychological distress. OBJECTIVES AND PROJECT DESCRIPTION The mechanisms that underlie differences in skin diseases between males, females, men, and women remain largely unknown. The specific objectives of this review paper are:To highlight the biological differences between males and females (sex), as well as the sociocultural differences between men and women (gender) and how they impact the integumentary system.To perform a literature review to identify important sex- and gender-related epidemiological and clinical differences for various skin conditions belonging to a range of disease categories and to discuss possible biological and sociocultural factors that could explain the observed differences.To discuss dermatological skin conditions and gender-affirming treatments within the transgender community, a population of individuals who have a gender identity which is different than the gender identity they were assigned at birth. FUTURE IMPACT With the rising number of individuals that identify as non-binary or transgender within our increasingly diverse communities, it is imperative to recognize gender identity, gender, and sex as distinct entities. By doing so, clinicians will be able to better risk-stratify their patients and select treatments that are most aligned with their values. To our knowledge, very few studies have separated sex and gender as two distinct risk factors within the dermatology literature. Our article also has the potential to help guide future prevention strategies that are patient-tailored rather than using a universal approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Real-world evidence of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine effectiveness (VE) against longitudinal outcomes is lacking among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM). We compared 12-month incidence and persistence of anal HPV infection between vaccinated and unvaccinated GBM. METHODS We recruited GBM aged 16-30 years in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, Canada, from 2017 to 2019. Participants were followed over a median of 12 months (interquartile range, 12-13 months). Participants self-reported HPV vaccination and self-collected anal specimens for HPV DNA testing. We calculated prevalence ratios (PR) for 12-month cumulative incidence and persistence with ≥1 quadrivalent vaccine type (HPV 6/11/16/18) between vaccinated (≥1 dose at baseline) and unvaccinated participants using a propensity score-weighted, modified Poisson regression. RESULTS Among 248 participants, 109 (44.0%) were vaccinated at baseline, of whom 62.6% received 3 doses. PRs for HPV 6/11/16/18 were 0.56 (95% confidence interval [CI], .24-1.31) for cumulative incidence and 0.53 (95% CI, .25-1.14) for persistence. PRs were 0.23 (95% CI, .05-1.03) and 0.08 (95% CI, .01-.59) for incidence and persistence, respectively, among participants who received their first dose at age ≤23 years and 0.15 (95% CI, .03-.68) and 0.12 (95% CI, .03-.54) among participants who were sexually active for ≤5 years before vaccination. CONCLUSIONS Findings support national recommendations for HPV vaccination at younger ages or soon after sexual debut.

Abstract
Anogenital warts (AWs) represent a therapeutic challenge, especially in infants, due to sensitive skin and frequent disease recurrence. Though the initial wait-and-see approach is often adopted in asymptomatic immunocompetent children, with spontaneous clearing in almost 90% of cases within two years, persistent or symptomatic lesions can be reasonably treated. However, few studies have been conducted on children. Consequently, most treatments on patients under age 12 are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Herein, we review possible therapies for pediatric use in AW and report an illustrative case of a two-year-old boy with atopic skin and symptomatic, persistent AWs who was successfully treated with topical podophyllotoxin, without adverse effects or recurrence. Among available therapies for AWs, topical therapies, such as immunomodulating-agents (topical imiquimod 5% and 3.75% cream, sinecatechins 15% ointment) and cytotoxic agents (podophyllotoxin and cidofovir) are considered manageable in children because of their low aggressiveness. In particular, podofillotoxin gel 5% and imiquimod 5% cream have been reported to be safe and efficacious in children. Currently, HPV vaccination is not recommended as a treatment for established HPV infection and AWs, yet a possible therapeutic role of HPV vaccination was recently suggested in the literature and deserves mention.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is associated with precancerous lesions and cancer of the genital tract both in women and men. The high incidence of cervical cancer worldwide focused the research on this infection mainly in women and to a lesser extent in men. In this review, we summarized epidemiological, immunological, and diagnostic data associated with HPV and cancer in men. We presented an overview of the main characteristics of HPV and infection in men that are associated with different types of cancer but also associated with male infertility. Men are considered important vectors of HPV transmission to women; therefore, identifying the sexual and social behavioral risk factors associated with HPV infection in men is critical to understand the etiology of the disease. It is also essential to describe how the immune response develops in men during HPV infection or when vaccinated, since this knowledge could help to control the viral transmission to women, decreasing the incidence of cervical cancer, but also could reduce other HPV-associated cancers among men who have sex with men (MSM). Finally, we summarized the methods used over time to detect and genotype HPV genomes, as well as some diagnostic tests that use cellular and viral biomarkers that were identified in HPV-related cancers.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related diseases are highly prevalent in men worldwide, comprising external anogenital condyloma, anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN), penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), and anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers. There is exceptionally low vaccine coverage in the male population. Only 4% of men were fully vaccinated, worldwide, as of 2019. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of HPV vaccination on male disease. Three databases (MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus) and Clinical Trials.gov were searched. We included thirteen studies, eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and five cohorts, comprising a total of 14,239 participants. Regarding anal disease, seven studies reported HPV vaccine efficacy ranging from 91.1% to 93.1% against AIN1, and ranging from 89.6% to 91.7% against AIN2|3 and anal cancer. Five studies showed an efficacy against genital condyloma of 89.9% in HPV-naïve males, varying between 66.7% and 67.2% in intention-to-treat populations. Studies reporting no efficacy have included older participants. These results support vaccination of young men previously infected, beyond HPV-naïve males. The evidence quality was moderate to low for most outcomes, namely genital diseases. RCTs are needed to assess the efficacy of HPV vaccination on male oropharyngeal cancer.

Abstract
This review presents the epidemiology, pathophysiology, prevention, and management of sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV) and its associated diseases. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide. Prevalence varies regionally. Low-risk strains cause anogenital warts, which can be managed with patient- or provider-applied therapies. High-risk strains cause lower anogenital cancers. Primary and secondary prevention strategies include vaccination and screening for precancerous lesions, respectively. Management of abnormal screening results vary by test result, anatomic site, and individual cancer risk. Approaches include close rescreening, high-resolution visualization with biopsy, and-when biopsy-proven precancer is identified-removal or destruction of the lesion.

Abstract
(1) Background: The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common agent related to sexually transmitted infections in the general population. Its genotypes are classified into two main classes, high-risk genotypes and low-risk genotypes, according to their capacity to induce cancers. The low-risk class (types 6 and 11) is associated with anogenital and genital lesions. The high-risk class is responsible for up to 4.5% of all new cancer cases yearly. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of HPV-related hospitalizations and its trend in a southern Italian region for the years 2015-2021. (2) Methods: This was a retrospective study performed in the Abruzzo region, Italy. All admissions for the period 2015-2021 were extracted from the hospital discharge record (HDR). (3) Results: During the study period (2015-2021), a total of 5492 hospitalizations attributable to HPV infection occurred in the Abruzzo region, Italy. A significant number of admissions were related to cervical cancer (3386 cases) and genital warts (638 cases). The trend declined for all diagnoses except for penile cancer admissions. Considering the first year of the pandemic (year 2020), a decrease in the standardized incidence of the majority of the diseases considered was reported, particularly among cases of cervical cancer. (4) Conclusions: HPV-related hospitalizations decreased in Abruzzo during study period. These results could be useful to LHAs and policy-makers in improving vaccination coverage and screening adherence.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause several diseases, including cancers, in both sexes. In January 2020, the Hong Kong government launched a school-based vaccination program for girls 10-12 years of age with the 9-valent HPV (9vHPV) vaccine for the prevention of HPV-related diseases; however, boys were not included. The current study estimated the potential health and economic impact of a routine gender-neutral vaccination (GNV) approach compared with the current female-only vaccination (FOV) strategy. We used a dynamic transmission model, adapted to Hong Kong. The model estimates changes in HPV-related disease incidence and mortality, treatment costs (in 2019 Hong Kong dollars), quality-adjusted life years (QALY), and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) over a 100-year time horizon. The base case analysis compared FOV with the 9vHPV vaccine with routine GNV (coverage rate 70%) for the prevention of HPV-related diseases. Compared with a FOV approach, routine GNV with the 9vHPV vaccine is predicted to provide greater reductions in cumulative HPV-related disease incidence and mortality, as well as lower HPV-related treatment costs. In the base case analysis, the ICER was $248,354 per QALY for routine GNV. As compared with FOV, routine GNV fell below the cost-effectiveness ceiling of $382,046/year for Hong Kong. These results highlight the potential value of a routine GNV program with the 9vHPV vaccine among 12-year-olds in Hong Kong to reduce the public health and economic burden of HPV-related diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is a key initiative to promote the WHO global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer, and this study aimed to investigate the current status of HPV infection and genotypic characteristics of the population under the impact of age-expansion of nine-valent HPV vaccination policy in China. METHODS The clinical data of 60,685 subjects who were admitted in the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and underwent HPV genotyping from January 2017 to October 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS The total number of positive HPV genotyping in the included population was 10,303, with a positivity rate of 17.0 %. The HPV positivity rate in the male and female populations increased slowly year by year, with a higher rate of positivity in men (32.7 %) than in women (16.7 %) (P < 0.001). HPV was predominantly single infection in all populations, with higher prevalence of high-risk HPV than low-risk HPV in females, while low-risk HPV infection was predominant in the male population. The age distribution of female subjects infected with HPV, with HPV52 as the most common type, showed a bimodal pattern. As for HPV infected male subjects, HPV6 was the main type, and there was no bimodal age distribution. The expanded age vaccination of the nine-valent HPV vaccine will result in 42.4 % efficiency of vaccine protection for 49.9 % of age-eligible women. If the nine-valent HPV vaccine were open to males in China, it would reduce HPV infections in men by 56.4 %. CONCLUSIONS The HPV positivity rate in the population remains high and tends to increase, and the age-expansion of the nine-valent HPV vaccine would contribute to reducing the threat of disease caused by HPV infection for age-eligible women. Moreover, attention should be paid to enhancing HPV screening in males and opening up vaccination when appropriate.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Condyloma acuminatum (CA) is a sexually transmitted disease characterized by the anomalous proliferation of keratinocytes caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Fu Fang Gang Liu liquid (FFGL) is an effective externally administered prescription used to treat CA; however, its molecular mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to identify and experimentally validate the major active ingredients and prospective targets of FFGL. METHODS Network pharmacology, transcriptomics, and enrichment analysis were used to identify the active ingredients and prospective targets of FFGL, which were confirmed through subsequent experimental validation using mass spectrometry, molecular docking, western blotting, and in vitro assays. RESULTS The network pharmacology analysis revealed that FFGL contains a total of 78 active compounds, which led to the screening of 610 compound-related targets. Among them, 59 overlapped with CA targets and were considered to be targets with potential therapeutic effects. The protein-protein interaction network analysis revealed that protein kinase B (Akt) serine/threonine kinase 1 was a potential therapeutic target. To further confirm this result, we performed ribonucleic acid sequencing (RNA-seq) assays on HPV 18+ cells after FFGL exposure and conducted enrichment analyses on the differentially expressed genes that were screened. The enrichment analysis results indicated that the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt) pathway may be a key pathway through which FFGL exerts its effects. Further in vitro experiments revealed that FFGL significantly inhibited the activity of HPV 18+ cells and reduced PI3K and Akt protein levels. A rescue experiment indicated that the reduction in cell viability induced by FFGL was partially restored after the administration of activators of the PI3K/Akt pathway. We further screened two active components of FFCL that may be efficacious in the treatment of CA: periplogenin and periplocymarin. The molecular docking experiments showed that these two compounds exhibited good binding activity to Akt1. CONCLUSION FFGL reduced HPV 18+ cell viability by inhibiting key proteins in the PI3K/Akt pathway; this pathway may represent an essential mechanism through which FFGL treats CA. Periplogenin and periplocymarin may play a significant role in this process.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many therapeutic modalities are available for treating genital warts; however, the effectiveness of both diphenylcyclopropenone and podophyllin is still controversial. AIM To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of diphenylcyclopropenone and podophyllin in treating genital warts. METHODS This study included 57 patients, divided randomly into two groups. Group (A): diphenylcyclopropenone (n = 29). Group (B): podophyllin 25% (n = 28). In group (A), sensitization was done with 2% diphenylcyclopropenone. Then, after 1 or 2 weeks, treatment started with a weekly application of diphenylcyclopropenone solutions ranging between 0.001 and 1% until clearance, or for a maximum of 10 sessions. In group (B), podophyllin 25% was applied weekly until clearance or for a maximum of 6 weeks. RESULTS Higher clearance was achieved in group A, with 19 of 29 (65.5%) patients, than in group B, with 9 of 28 (32.1%) (p-value = 0.004). Also, effectiveness increases with young age in group A. Shorter wart duration was associated with better response in both groups (p-value = 0.005). No serious adverse effects occurred in either group. No recurrence was detected in group A, while seven patients (77.8%) had recurrence in group B after 1 year of follow up. CONCLUSION Diphenylcyclopropenone shows a higher success rate than podophyllin in treating genital warts and a lower recurrence rate.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is the most effective biomedical intervention for HPV infections. HPV vaccination rate among sexually active young adults is largely unknown. METHODS Patients aged 18-26 years, who attended the Rhode Island Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic between 2013-2018, were included in the study. We extracted demographics, behavioral characteristics, and HPV vaccination status from electronic medical records. Exploratory logistic regressions were conducted to identify factors associated with vaccination status. RESULTS Among 2729 eligible individuals, the median age was 23 years (interquartile range: 22-25). Only 8.1% of males and 24.8% of females received at least one dose of HPV vaccine. Females were 144% (crude odds ratio [cOR]: 2.44, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.03, 2.94) more likely to receive at least one dose of HPV vaccine than males. Being Black/African American (B/AA) or Hispanic/Latino (H/L) was associated with a 21% (cOR: 0.79, 95% CI: 0.62, 1.00) and 34% (cOR: 0.66, 95% CI: 0.53, 0.81) decrease in the odds of vaccination, respectively. CONCLUSIONS HPV vaccination rate was low among sexually active young adults. Gender and racial/ethnic disparities existed in HPV vaccination. Interventions are needed to promote HPV vaccination among sexually active young adults, especially B/AA and H/L communities.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Anogenital warts (AGWs) are among the most common STDs. Many therapy options are available but are not codified. Systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) are helpful to elaborate recommendations on the management of AGWs. The objective of our study was to assess the quality and consistency of SRs for the local management of AGWs using three international tools. METHODS Seven electronic databases were searched from inception to 10 January 2022 for this SR. The intervention of interest was any local treatment of AGWs. There was no restriction on language and population. The methodological quality, reporting quality and risk of bias (ROB) of the included SRs for the local treatments of AGWs were assessed independently by two investigators with A Measurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews version II (AMSTAR II), Risk of Bias in Systematic Reviews (ROBIS) and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). RESULTS Twenty-two SRs/MAs met all inclusion criteria. According to the results of the AMSTAR II, nine included reviews were rated critically as being of low quality, and only five were of high quality. Based on the ROBIS tool, only nine SRs/MAs had a low ROB. The domain-assessed 'study eligibility criteria' were mostly rated at a low ROB, unlike the other domains. With PRISMA, the reporting checklist was relatively complete for ten SRs/MAs, but some reporting weaknesses remained in the topics of the abstract, protocol and registration, ROB and funding. DISCUSSION Several therapy options are available for the local management of AGWs and are widely studied. However, due to the many ROB and low quality of these SRs/MAs, only a few of them have the sufficient methodological quality to support guidelines. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER CRD42021265175.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Condylomata acuminata (CA) is a sexually transmitted infection with a high prevalence associated with psychosexual morbidity in both men and women of various age. Up to now, treatment modalities yield low clearance and recurrence rate (RR) and are also deemed low quality evidence-wise. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a novel and promising therapy to effectively cure and prevent CA recurrence. METHOD This systematic review was reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and registered to the International Prospective Register of Systematic Review (PROSPERO) (CRD42022332760). RESULTS Ten studies were included in this systematic review. A significant value of complete response (CR) ranging from 63-100% in patients with genital warts after receiving several sessions of PDT. A relatively low recurrence rate was seen in all 10 studies, with an RR of less than 17%. Quality assessment of included studies reported mostly high-quality research. CONCLUSIONS PDT therapy resulted in a higher CR with significantly lower RR compared to other therapies. Thus, PDT can be an alternative treatment of CA with low RR and minimal side effects. Additional research, especially randomized clinical trials in various countries, is needed to further substantiate this treatment and formulate definitive protocols.

Abstract
Background Vaginal discharge is a common complaint among women attending the sexually transmissible infections (STIs) clinic and is a cause for concern and mental distress. It can be attributed to physiological or pathological causes. This study aims to understand the prevalence of various etiologies of vaginal discharge, which would help frame health policies based on local needs. Objectives (1) To estimate the prevalence of discharge per vaginum among sexually active women attending the STI clinic at a tertiary care center during a 1-year period, (2) To identify the organisms causing vaginal discharge, (3) To have a clinicoetiological correlation of the cases, and (4) To identify the subspecies of Candida causing vaginal candidiasis. Materials and Methods A total of 126 patients with vaginal discharge attending the STI clinic at a tertiary care center were included in the study. A detailed clinical history, physical examination of the external genitalia, and vaginal examination were done on each patient. Five swabs were taken from the posterior fornix and lateral vaginal wall for evaluation of the organisms. Results The mean age of the study population was 31.51 ± 7.9 years. Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) was found to be the most common cause of vaginal discharge, followed by bacterial vaginosis, mucopurulent cervicitis, herpes genitalis, and trichomoniasis. The most common species of Candida was found to be Candida albicans. Conclusion Even though VVC still remains the major cause, other viral infections like herpes significantly contribute. Vaginal discharge is an important indicator of women's reproductive health and its detailed evaluation helps identify the prevalence of various STIs in the community.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to investigate disease trend of genital wart through changes in each treatment method over the past 10 years in Korea. MATERIALS AND METHODS From 2010 to 2019, surgical treatment including cauterization, excision, cryotherapy, and laser therapy, non-surgical treatment such as podophyllin, and surgical treatment for anorectal lesion were extracted and analyzed from 2010 to 2019. For each treatment method, characteristics such as sex, age, region, medical cost and average number of procedures were analyzed. RESULTS The number of patients following all treatment modalities increased every year. Surgical treatment of genital wart and anorectal wart showed a significant increase in male patients. Number of non-surgical treatment decreased in males but increased in females. Surgical removal of the anorectal wart increased more than 250% in over 10 years, and males underwent surgery 4 times more than females. In both surgery and non-surgery, the mean session was higher in males. Most of them were carried out in primary medical institutions. In Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, the largest number of patients received treatment regardless of treatment method. CONCLUSIONS Treatment for genital warts has increased rapidly over the past 10 years, and the increase in males is remarkable. The main treatment was surgery, and males mainly received surgical treatment, and females mainly received drug treatment. The primary medical institution was in charge of the most treatment. As the number of patients and related medical expenses are increasing rapidly, more attention and response to diseases are needed.
