Abstract
Introduction Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a widespread sexually transmitted infection and a leading cause of cervical cancer. Although there is a significant HPV prevalence in Ethiopia, yet the uptake of the HPV vaccine remains low. This study aimed to assess the level of caregivers' willingness to vaccinate their daughters against the human papilloma virus and associated factors in Jimma town. Methods A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from June 1-30, 2023. A total of 471 study participants were selected using multi-stage sampling techniques. Data was collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Binary and multiple logistic regression analyses were done to identify associated factors, and the adjusted odds ratio and 95% confidence interval were computed. A value p of <0.05 was used to determine statistical significance. Results About 82.4% (95% CI: 79.0-86.0) of caregivers indicated a willingness to have their daughters vaccinated. Having college education or above (AOR:3.31, 95%CI:1.02-10.8), good knowledge of the HPV vaccine (AOR:2.25, 95%CI:1.05-4.85), good knowledge of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) (AOR:2.04, 95%CI: 1.09-3.82), good knowledge of cervical cancer (AOR:2.50, 95%CI:1.31-4.77) and a positive attitude towards the vaccine (AOR:4.03, 95%CI: 2.26-7.22), were associated with willingness. Discussion The majority of caregivers were willing to vaccinate their daughters against HPV. Caregivers who had higher education, good knowledge about the HPV vaccine, cervical cancer, and STIs, as well as positive attitudes towards the vaccine, were more likely to be willing to vaccinate. Efforts should be made to educate caregivers about the vaccine, cervical cancer, and STIs while promoting positive attitudes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The vaccine coverage rate (VCR) for human papillomavirus (HPV) in France is one of the lowest in Europe, well below the target of 80% announced in the French Cancer Plan 2021-2030. The extension of vaccination competencies (prescription and administration) to new health care providers, such as community pharmacists (CPs), was a decisive step by the French Health Authority (HAS) in 2022 to simplify access to vaccination and improve the VCR. This research assessed the economic and organizational impacts (OIs) of the extension of vaccination competencies in France. METHODS A model was developed in Excel® to compare the current HPV vaccination pathway focused on general practitioners (GPs) to a mix of pathways (new and current) that extends pharmacists' competencies (prescription and/or injection). The simulated population corresponded to girls and boys targeted by the French recommendations. The model was run from 2023 to 2030. HAS guidelines were used to identify OIs related to these new pathways. Model inputs were collected from national data sources and an acceptability study. The results focused on three OIs (HPV vaccination ability [defined as the number of adolescents who could be vaccinated in each pathway], the VCR projection, and flows of activity between health care professionals]). The economic impact was evaluated from the National Health Insurance (NHI) perspective in 2022. RESULTS With a mix of vaccination pathways, including an increasing role of pharmacists, the target of an 80% VCR could be reached in 2030 (versus 2032 with the current pathway) with lower investment than the current situation, resulting in cost savings for the NHI of €212 million. Expanding vaccination competencies will provide pharmacists with additional revenue (an average of €755,000/month for all vaccinating pharmacies) and will free up medical time for GPs (average of 603,000 consultations/year for all GPs). CONCLUSIONS Expanding vaccination competencies to pharmacists has a positive impact on the entire ecosystem. From a public health perspective, the national VCR target can be achieved and better access to care can be provided, freeing up medical time. From an economic perspective, this approach can provide savings for the NHI and additional revenue for pharmacists.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In 2020, uterine cervical cancer (UCC) was the 12th most common cancer among women in France and the 4th worldwide. French health authorities wanted to increase Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination and screening rates. There were still many barriers to these measures among young women, their families, and health professionals and teachers. Between 2014 and 2019, international studies found inconsistent effects of HPV vaccination on UCC screening. In 2022, a survey was conducted among women aged 25 to 40 in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region to assess participation 1) in HPV vaccination and its barriers, 2) in UCC screening as a function of HPV vaccination status. METHODS Data were collected using an anonymous online questionnaire distributed by QR code in 80 general practices randomly selected in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region between January and June 2022. Results were analyzed bivariately using the Chi2 test, multivariately when numbers allowed, and in age subgroups (sensitivity analysis). RESULTS 407 complete questionnaires (for 602 participating women) were analyzed. In our sample, 41% of women aged 25 to 40 in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region were vaccinated against HPV viruses in 2022. The risk factors for non-vaccination, after multivariable adjustment, were: the periods of eligibility for vaccination in the early days of French vaccination (2007-2012: odds ratio OR = 0.04 [95% CI, 0.02-0.09]; 2012-2017: OR = 0.5 [0.3-0.8]), information received from non-medical sources (OR = 0.3 [0.2-0.6]), and absence of information about vaccination (OR = 0.12 [0.05-0.27]). In our sample, 90% of women were screened for UCC. In bivariate analysis, women at risk of not being screened were those who were youngest, had been vaccinated against HPV, were not heterosexual, lived alone, had gynecological follow-up by their general practitioner, and did not have regular gynecological follow-up. Sensitivity analysis showed that the only risk factor significantly correlated with non-screening regardless of age group was lack of regular gynecological follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Participation in HPV vaccination and UCC screening is improved by medical education and gynecological follow-up. This multicenter study, limited by the relative youth of vaccination in France, should be repeated after 2037 to assess the possible effect of vaccination on screening.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The vaccine coverage against human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination remains low in France. The objective of this study was to study adolescent perceptions by comparing boys and girls, in order to build effective school-based interventions. METHODS This paper presents a cross-sectional study in French middle school pupils. They completed online questionnaires on their knowledge and attitudes toward the HPV vaccine, HPV vaccination status, their intention, reasons to vaccinate or not to vaccinate, and psychological antecedents of vaccination. A structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis was used to test the hypothesized model. RESULTS The participants are 818 pupils aged from 12 to 16 years (Mage = 13.78). Most pupils were in the pre-contemplative stage (62.7 % of boys and 40.8 % of girls). SEM analysis indicated that the relationship between the level of HPV knowledge, the representations of vaccines in general, and vaccine intention was mediated by attitudes towards the HPV vaccine among both boys and girls. CONCLUSIONS These findings reveal a high percentage of boys who do not feel concerned by the HPV vaccine and highlight the need to consider the psychological antecedents of vaccination in general in addition to the specific attitudes to the HPV vaccine.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cervical cancer has been considered as one of the most common cancers in women (15-44 years) globally, but the advent of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine has raised the anticipation that eradication of cervical carcinoma might be achieved in the near future as several prophylactic cervical carcinoma vaccines have already been currently licensed in various countries. Countries should devise strategies, practices and policies to attain and sustain higher levels of HPV immunization coverage as still 68% countries have introduced HPV vaccine in their national immunization programs even after 17 years following the licensure of the first prophylactic HPV vaccine. METHODOLOGY A comprehensive literature analysis was conducted using various databases and search engines, to include the most relevant research articles and data available and critically discussed the operational gaps that need to be answered to achieve adequate coverage of HPV vaccination. RESULTS The present review highlights the existing HPV vaccination strategies, unmet needs and challenges needed to be addressed for proper implementation framework as well as the collaborations required to achieve decent vaccination coverage. Well-coordinated vaccination strategy with focus on adolescent girls and if possible, boys can lead to dramatic impact on disease reduction around the world.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Parental vaccine hesitancy is a significant contributor to low adolescent HPV vaccination. Shared HPV vaccination decision-making among adolescents and parents is an important determinant of vaccination uptake. We performed a scoping review to identify studies that used parent-adolescent dyads in HPV vaccination research. METHODS We searched peer-reviewed articles in PubMed, Embase, and PsychInfo from 2012 to 2023. Randomized or observational studies with parent-adolescent dyads related to HPV vaccination were eligible for inclusion. Articles were coded for the main themes related to use of parent-adolescent dyads in HPV vaccination research. RESULTS Fifteen articles met the inclusion criteria and were categorized into two main themes: qualitative decision-making and quantitative vaccination intentions. Dyad members reported substantially different roles, barriers, and facilitators of HPV vaccine decisions and intentions. Dyad members disagreed on who made the final decision. Provider recommendation style and content were important to parental confidence in the vaccine decision. CONCLUSION The recent evidence for parent-adolescent HPV vaccination dyad research is sparse but indicates that factors that account for dyad vaccination decisions and intentions often differ between dyad members. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Studies in this review support ongoing research with parent-adolescent dyads to target HPV vaccine interventions at individual dyad members to increase HPV vaccination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is known as a common agent of sexually transmitted infections and cervical cancer. One of the most effective ways for parents to protect their children from HPV is by ensuring they receive vaccinations. AIM To determine the percentage of parents who intend to vaccinate their children against HPV and associated factors. METHOD A cross-sectional study was conducted on 365 parents who had children attending high school in Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, from April to May 2023, using stratified and random sampling methods. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire designed based on previous studies and the domains of the Theory of Planned Behavior and Health Belief Model. A multivariable logistic regression was performed to determine the association between several factors and vaccination status. RESULT A total of 365 participants took part in the study. The rate of parents intending to vaccinate their children against HPV was 55.9%. Knowledge about the HPV disease and vaccine (all P < .05) and the attitude of parents (P < .001) were determined as the motivation factors that affect the intention to vaccinate children against HPV. CONCLUSION Many parents still do not have the intention to vaccinate children against HPV. Health education communication should focus on the motivation factors, not only to improve the parents' knowledge and perspective but also to increase the coverage of the vaccine to prevent cancers caused by HPV.

Abstract
BackgroundIn France, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage varies across socioeconomic levels.AimWe aimed at assessing HPV vaccine awareness, uptake and vaccination intention among adolescents in France.MethodsIn a cluster-randomised study, 13-15-year-old students in 61 French middle schools completed a web-based questionnaire. We used multivariable logistic regression to evaluate determinants of HPV vaccine awareness, self-reported uptake and vaccination intention among unvaccinated students and interaction terms to explore effects of visits to family physician and remembering school lessons on vaccination. The French deprivation index of school municipalities served as proxy for socioeconomic levels.ResultsAmong 6,992 participants, awareness was significantly associated with parental education (odds ratio (OR) = 0.82; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.71-0.95), language spoken at home (OR = 0.59; 95% CI: 0.52-0.66) and deprivation level (OR = 0.57; 95% CI: 0.44-0.71), regardless of physician visit or school lessons. Vaccine uptake was associated with parental education without a recent physician visit (OR = 0.31; 95% CI: 0.16-0.59, vs OR = 0.64; 95% CI: 0.52-0.78 with a visit, interaction p = 0.045). Vaccination intention among unvaccinated was associated with deprivation level (moderate-low vs low) among students not remembering school lessons on vaccination (OR = 0.17; 95% CI: 0.05-0.62, vs OR = 0.93; 95% CI: 0.51-1.67 remembering school lessons, interaction p = 0.022). Parental education was associated with vaccination intention among students reporting a physician visit (OR = 0.41; 95% CI: 0.26-0.64 vs OR = 1.05; 95% CI: 0.50-2.20 without a visit, interaction p = 0.034).ConclusionOur results suggest that healthcare and school could promote vaccination and mitigate social inequalities in HPV vaccination coverage.

Abstract
Introduction Human papillomavirus vaccination coverage has not been achieved in the general population. There are factors that interfere with the acceptance of the vaccine by the parents of adolescent girls. Objective To correlate knowledge of human papillomavirus, knowledge of the vaccine against the virus, and beliefs about the vaccine with vaccine acceptance among parents of adolescent girls aged 9-12 years in Chihuahua, Mexico. Materials and Methods A descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted with a census sample of 145 parents of girls between the ages of 9 and 12 enrolled in three public elementary schools in an urban area of Chihuahua, Mexico. Results Knowledge of human papillomavirus was related to vaccine acceptance (p < 0.009), as was knowledge of the human papillomavirus vaccine (p < 0.030). In contrast, beliefs about HPV and the vaccine were not related (p < 0.747). Discussion The results are consistent with previous literature in that knowledge of the virus and its vaccine is low, but the scores were lower in this study. In contrast, HPV vaccine acceptance tends to be high, as in previous studies. Conclusions Knowledge about human papillomavirus and the vaccine was associated with parental acceptance of giving it to their daughters.

Abstract
Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are responsible for one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the world, and their oncogenic role has been well demonstrated in genital, anal, and oropharyngeal areas. However, a certain distrust and a lack of knowledge about this vaccine are perceptible among French adolescents and their parents. Thus, health professionals and, more particularly, pharmacists appear to be key persons to promote HPV vaccination and restore confidence in the target population. The present study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding HPV vaccination among pharmacists, particularly in boys, following the 2019 recommendation to vaccinate them. The present study was designed as a cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive survey that was conducted from March to September 2021 among pharmacists in France. 215 complete questionnaires were collected. Gaps in knowledge were found, only 21.4% and 8.4% obtained a high level of knowledge related to, respectively, HPV and vaccination. Pharmacists were confident in the HPV vaccine (94.4%), found it safe and useful, and felt that the promotion of the vaccine was part of their role (94.0%). However, only a few have already advised it, which they justify due to a lack of opportunity and forgetfulness. Faced with this, training, computerized reminders, or supportive materials could be implemented to improve the advice and thus the vaccination coverage. Finally, 64.2% were in favor of a pharmacy-based vaccination program. In conclusion, pharmacists are interested in this vaccination and the role of promoter. However, they need the means to facilitate this mission: training, computer alerts, supportive materials such as flyers, and the implementation of vaccination in pharmacies.

Willingness of parents of 9-to-18-year-old females in China to vaccinate their daughters with HPV vaccine. Vaccine 2023; 41:130-135. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccine, willingness to have their daughters receive HPV vaccine, and factors associated with knowledge and willingness among parents of females 9 to 18 years of age in China. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional survey of parents with daughters 9 to 18 years of age in four provinces of China using a self-administered questionnaire. We used multivariable regression analyses to determine factors associated with willingness vaccinate. RESULTS We received completed surveys from 5,215 parents. Among respondents, 846 (16.24 %) had a high level of knowledge about HPV (total score ≥ 5). High level of HPV knowledge was associated with having daughters who were <15 years old; having experience paying out-of-pocket for other vaccines; being a mother; having higher educational achievement; being a medical staff member; being in a higher-income category; and residing in an urban area. There were 2,419 (46.39 %) parents who were willing to vaccinate their daughter against HPV and 2,757 (52.87 %) who were willing to receive vaccine themselves (for female respondents) or indicated willingness of their spouse to be vaccinated (for male respondents). Willingness of mothers to be vaccinated was associated with daughters' age being greater than 14 years; having previously purchased self-paid vaccines; having higher educational achievement; being in a higher-income category; having a higher level of knowledge; and residing in an urban area. Parental willingness to vaccinate daughters was associated with daughters' age being greater than 14 years, age of parents younger 40, a history of purchasing self-paid vaccines; higher educational achievement; having a higher level of knowledge; being willing to receive HPV vaccine (themselves or their spouse); and residing in an urban area. CONCLUSIONS Level of knowledge and willingness to have daughters vaccinated with HPV vaccine are low among Chinese parents. For universal HPV vaccination of females 9-18 years of age, it is necessary to educate parents about HPV and HPV vaccine, and to reduce the price of HPV vaccine.

Abstract
PURPOSE Female secondary school students are the primary recommended population for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. However, vaccine hesitancy may affect uptake. In this study, we assessed the vaccine hesitancy levels among the guardians of female secondary school students in China. METHODS We developed a questionnaire and conducted cross-sectional surveys among guardians of secondary school girls aged 12-19 years in mainland China based on the Increasing Vaccination Model and the Precaution Adoption Process Model. RESULTS We collected 3,225 valid samples. Among the participating guardians, 53.9% were vaccine hesitant, although only 0.9% had refused HPV vaccines. Some individual characteristics of guardians (e.g. sex, education/income level) were associated with understanding HPV vaccines. Better knowledge of HPV vaccines and communication with reliable sources of information were associated with vaccine nonhesitancy. Practical barriers such as vaccine shortage and busy schedules prevented nonhesitant guardians from vaccinating their children. DISCUSSION A substantial proportion of the guardians surveyed were HPV vaccine hesitant. Promoting HPV knowledge and communication with reliable sources (e.g. clinical doctors) could help fight against vaccine hesitancy.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is one of the most publicly mistrusted vaccines in Europe, with countries such as France struggling with low vaccine uptake due to parental questioning of vaccine risks and benefits. However, limited evidence exists on adolescent girls' perceptions of the risks and benefits of HPV vaccination. The aim of this qualitative study was to provide an in-depth exploration and comparison of French mothers (n = 21) and adolescent girls' (n = 36) perceptions of the risks and benefits of HPV vaccination. A thematic analysis showed that adolescent girls and mothers perceived the risks and benefits of HPV vaccination differently, with girls reporting positive and beneficial views and emotions toward vaccination and mothers expressing concerns about possible risks. Adolescent girls also reported that both perceptions and actual risks and benefits may vary from one individual to another. Vaccine safety was also understood differently, with mothers reporting a widespread view that vaccines are unsafe and focusing on controversial side effects and girls discussing short-term consequences of vaccination (e.g. pain, fever) and administration and storage issues. Strategies to improve uptake of HPV vaccination should consider and address both the mothers' and daughters' perceptions and understandings of HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake remains low in China, especially among girls. Recently, China has initiated a pilot program on HPV immunization for girls aged 9-14 years. We conducted a cross-sectional online survey in Minhang district of Shanghai, a pilot region for the program, to investigate HPV vaccination status among mothers and their daughters 9-14. A total of 1031 parents and 1122 daughters 9-14 were included. Of them, 18.6% of mothers and 4.5% of daughters had been vaccinated with HPV vaccines or made an appointment; additionally, 62.7% and 78.4% intended to receive vaccination but did not make an appointment. Notably, 6.2% of parents did not intend to receive vaccination for themselves (or their wives) but intended to vaccinate their daughters. Moreover, we calculated parental knowledge and awareness scores toward HPV infection and vaccination. Both scores were significantly higher among the parents who had received HPV vaccination than those who intended to across mothers' vaccination status (P < .001 for knowledge and P = .019 for awareness), whereas similar between the two groups across daughters' vaccination status (P = .694 and P = .737). Parents believed mothers had a significantly higher susceptibility to HPV infection and lower health consequences, compared to daughters 9-12 (P = .002 and P < .001) or those 13-14 (both P < .001). In conclusion, HPV vaccine uptake remains a discrepancy between mothers and their daughters 9-14. However, their intents to receive HPV vaccination were both high. Parental knowledge and awareness may improve vaccination intent for daughters 9-14 in China. It warrants a certain health education toward susceptibility to HPV infection and health consequences.

Abstract
PURPOSE Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage remains suboptimal with a global vaccination rate ranging from 12 to 90%. This review examined the approaches used by healthcare professionals in improving the uptake of HPV vaccine and reducing vaccine misconceptions among adolescents. METHODS A systematic review of literature between 2007 and 2021 was conducted using five databases: CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycInfo, Scopus and ASSIA. Studies that examined healthcare professional's promotional strategies in improving the HPV vaccine uptake in adolescents were included. Two researchers independently reviewed study selection, data extraction, and study methodological quality. Results were analysed and synthesised using narrative synthesis. RESULTS Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. Studies reported on effective approaches used by healthcare professionals to improve vaccine uptake including the use of multi-settings to target hard-to-reach vulnerable adolescents; consistently recommending the vaccine; and initiating the vaccine before the age of eleven. In addressing vaccine misconceptions, open-communication, motivational approaches, and sexual health education were effective strategies used. CONCLUSION This review found that healthcare professionals need to be better informed and educated on HPV vaccine to reduce their own vaccine hesitancy. Uptake of HPV vaccine can be improved by adopting better communication, engagement, supportive information resources, and training for healthcare professionals.

Abstract
Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine for adolescents was recommended as an effective prevention strategy of HPV-related cancers. In Vietnam, HPV vaccination has not been introduced to male adolescent. This study was conducted to examine the acceptance of having boys vaccinated against HPV and its underlying reasoning, and to identify their parent's willingness to pay (WTP) for HPV vaccination in central Vietnam. 785 parents of boys were directly interviewed based on a structured questionnaire. Parent's acceptability of HPV vaccine for their sons was identified by one question with response on 3-point scale (agree, don't know, and disagree). Multivariate logistic regression model was used to determine contributing factors to participant's acceptance. Bidding game method was applied to elicit WTP values for HPV vaccination with initial bid of 161.2 USD. The results showed that 49.2% of parents agreed to have their sons vaccinated against HPV. Factors that influenced parent's acceptance including son's age older than 12 years (OR = 1.5; 95% CI: 1.08-1.98); being eldest son (OR = 1.6; 95% CI: 1.13-2.19), being mother (OR = 1.4; 95% CI: 1.01-1.91), parents with high educational level (OR = 1.7; 95% CI: 1.11-2.47) and their knowledge of HPV and HPV vaccine (OR = 1.8; 95% CI: 1.23-2.65). Average WTP value for full doses of HPV vaccine was 137.5 USD, ranging between 9 USD and 188.3 USD. Parents' knowledge of HPV and HPV vaccine was the only factor affecting WTP value (Rho: 0.11; p-value: 0.030). The findings suggest a strategy be introduced for HPV vaccination to male adolescents in Vietnam.

Abstract
While launching a campaign to eliminate cervical cancer, the World Health Organization called to halt human papillomavirus (HPV) gender-neutral vaccination (GNV) because of limited vaccine supply, raising ethical and legal questions about female-only vaccination versus GNV. We identified ethical and legal aspects of HPV GNV by searching MEDLINE for records up to February 19, 2021. We also provided an overview of HPV vaccines, the evolution of HPV vaccine recommendations in North America, and a timeline of male HPV vaccination introduction by searching PubMed, Google, and government websites. Four HPV vaccines are available: Cervarix®, Gardasil®, Gardasil®9, and Cecolin®. Vaccine recommendations in North America evolved from female only to eventually include males. Following the Food and Drug Administration's approval of the first HPV vaccine for males (2009), 35 countries began vaccinating males (2011-2020). Based on 56 eligible records out of 652, we identified the following constructs: lower male awareness of HPV and vaccination (n=13), limited economic resources (n=5), shared social responsibility (n=18), unprotected groups from female-only HPV vaccination (n=10), limited screening for HPV-associated noncervical cancers (n=6), consideration of ethical principles (n=17), and HPV vaccine mandates (n=5). Ethical and legal aspects must be considered when recommending vaccination for females only or GNV.

Abstract
Vaccine hesitancy (VH) in the age of adolescence is a major public health issue, though it has not been widely examined in the scientific literature. This systematic review aims to address the determinants of VH among adolescents aged 10-19. PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched from the inception until 11 December 2020. Articles in English, assessing adolescents' attitudes toward vaccination in terms of hesitancy and/or confidence were considered eligible. Out of 14,704 articles, 20 studies were included in the qualitative analysis. Quality assessment was performed through the Appraisal tool for Cross-Sectional Studies (AXIS). A better knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases, a higher confidence in vaccines, as well as an active involvement in the decision-making process showed a positive relationship with adolescents' vaccine uptake. These aspects should be considered to plan tailored interventions for the promotion of vaccination among adolescents and to reduce VH. Major limitations of this review are represented by the high heterogeneity of the tools used in the primary studies and the lack of standardization in outcomes definitions. Future research is needed to disentangle the interrelationship among the different determinants of VH in this age group.

Abstract
Background: HPV vaccination of both girls and boys can protect against infection and eliminate the risk for HPV-associated cancer. Due to a common misconception that the virus only poses risks to women, vaccine coverage is suboptimal among men in many countries. It is urgent to identify barriers to vaccination of boys and men. Methods: We conducted a narrative review of publications examining attitudes and beliefs regarding HPV vaccination for boys and young men. The electronic databases searched were PubMed, PsychInfo and Scopus (December 2020; last update July 2021). A total of 103 original articles were included in the final analysis. Results: The central barriers against vaccination of boys and men are: (1) lack of knowledge, (2) vaccine hesitancy in general, (3) lack of recommendation from and/or discussions with healthcare providers, (4) cost and logistics, and (5) the idea that HPV vaccination may promote promiscuity. Men who have sex with men and families belonging to ethnic minorities express a need for information tailored to their situation. Conclusions: Boys should be included in national immunization programs and men should also be offered catch-up vaccinations. Future studies should focus on addressing vaccine hesitancy and developing interventions to promote pan-gender HPV vaccination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections and can be prevented by vaccination. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding, by analysing interview responses of adolescents and parents, of how adolescent sexual behaviour is approached in families, how widespread knowledge about HPV is in Andalusia, the autonomous region with the lowest vaccination rate in Spain, as well as to learn more about the interviewees' position regarding vaccination. METHODS A qualitative study by means of 15 focus groups of adolescents (N = 137, aged 14-17 years) and five focus groups of parents with children of those ages (N = 37) was conducted in the provinces of Granada, Seville and Jaén (Andalusia, Spain). The audio data were transcribed verbatim, coded and analysed thematically using NVIVO-10 software. RESULTS There were three major results: (1) There is a lack of communication between adolescents and parents regarding sexual behaviour; (2) In both groups, scarce knowledge about HPV and vaccination was found; (3) Parents mistrust vaccination due to a lack of qualified and verified information about its benefits. CONCLUSIONS Healthy adolescent sexual behaviour is aided by communication within the family. Families need more information based on the evidence about HPV and vaccination. Health professionals are a key element in this process.

Abstract
This cross-sectional electronic online or telephone survey assessed the attitudes and behaviors regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and the effect of different factors among a nationally representative random sample of 349 general practitioners (GPs) in Italy. A semi-structured interview was performed between September 2018 and October 2020. Almost all respondents considered the HPV vaccine safe with an overall mean value of 8.8, on a scale ranging from 1 to 10, and 59.9% and 32.6% believed that the vaccination was very effective in preventing the related diseases among 12–26 years’ girls and boys. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GPs who had received information about HPV vaccination from scientific journals were more likely to have positive attitude towards the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing HPV-related diseases in girls between 12–26 years. A large majority (81.5%) of GPs who provided assistance to girls’ patients aged 11–12 years often or always recommend the HPV vaccine to them, and this behavior was more likely to occur in those who believed that the vaccine was very effective in preventing HPV-related diseases in girls between 12–26 years. GPs were more likely to often or always recommend the HPV vaccine to boys aged 11–12 years if they often or always recommended the vaccine to girls aged 11–12 years, if they believed that the vaccine was very effective in preventing HPV-related diseases in boys between 12–26 years, and if they considered the HPV vaccine very safe. GPs should receive information about the HPV immunization to ensure that they routinely communicate with their patient population in order to achieve better coverage rates.
