Abstract
AIM To investigate the social capital of families with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities in South India receiving a community-based early intervention (Enabling Inclusion®) program and to explore determinants and associations between social capital and program duration, socio-demographic factors, family empowerment, and caregiver burden. METHOD Using purposive sampling in a cross-sectional study design, 217 families (n = 71 received short Enabling Inclusion [<5 months]; n = 146 received long Enabling Inclusion [>9 months]) were recruited and completed the Short Adapted Social Capital Tool (SASCAT: cognitive, structural), measures of family empowerment, and caregiver strain. Descriptive statistics, regression, and correlations were used for analyses. RESULTS In 52.1% of participants, low cognitive and structural social capital was observed. Higher odds of low structural social capital were observed for mothers with primary versus secondary education (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 0.35; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.13-0.90; p = 0.029); and caregivers of children with cerebral palsy versus autism (OR = 4.66; 95% CI 1.02-21.21; p = 0.046). Significant associations were found between structural social capital, the child's age, and support group membership (χ2 = 6.29; 4.70; degrees of freedom [df] = 2; 1; p = 0.04; p = 0.02 respectively), as well as between cognitive social capital and other disability in the family (χ2 = 4.62, df = 1, p = 0.03). INTERPRETATION While program duration was not found to mediate social capital, mother's education and child's diagnosis emerged as key influential factors, warranting their consideration in interventions supporting families of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities in low- and-middle-income countries and elsewhere.

Abstract
PURPOSE It is known that cerebral palsy (CP) children's caregivers suffer from burden, depression, and stress, impairing their quality of life (QoL). The more severe the CP, the more burden the caregiver has. Psychosocial support, education, therapies, and financial support are inversely related to the level of stress of the caregiver. Most parents of CP patients submitted to selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) report improvement not just on spasticity, but also in the functional role of the children, what can impact on caregiver's QoL. Our objective was to evaluate the burden of CP children's caregivers with and without previous SDR. METHODS Spastic CP children caregivers were divided into two groups: those who take care of children without previous SDR (control group) and those that children were previously submitted to SDR (surgical group). The burden index was compared between groups using Burden Interview Questionnaire (BIQ). For statistical analysis, we used SPSS. RESULTS The control group had enrolled 31 participants and the surgical group 36. The mean GMFCS level on the control and surgical groups was 3.94 ± 1.26 and 3.74 ± 1.12 (p = 0.61), respectively. The surgical group caregivers presented less burden related to the feeling that they should be doing more to their child (p = 0.003) and if they could do a better job in caring (p = 0.032), compared to controls. The total BIQ index was not significantly different between groups (surgical 32.14 ± 12.34 vs. control 36.77 ± 12.77; p = 0.87). Low economic status had a weak correlation to a higher BIQ index (R2 = 0.24). After age-matching, there was a significative higher BIQ index in the control group (p = 0.008). CONCLUSION Caregivers of spastic CP children who were previously submitted to SDR presented less burden related to feeling of the amount of given care than those without previous surgery. The impression that they could do a better job with their kids was higher in the control group. The severity of CP and low economic status were related to more burden in both groups. After pairing groups by age, the control group had a significative higher BIQ index compared to the SDR group. All the subjects were freely given an informed consent to participate in the study that was obtained from all participants. Non-consented ones were excluded from the study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Globally, families experience challenges caring for and raising children with intellectual disability (ID). Family caregivers in rural states are mostly known for lacking support resources, including information on understanding the care of ID. Lack of adequate information on understanding of ID compromises the provision of life-long care and support of the children with ID's physical, emotional, psychological and social developmental well-being. The study aimed to explore the information needs of family caregivers regarding the care of children with ID in rural areas of Limpopo Province, South Africa. METHODS This qualitative explorative research conducted 16 in-depth individual interviews and one focus group discussion with ten family members. The participants shared their experiences of raising children with ID in rural communities. Inductive thematic analysis using Atlas Ti software categorised emerging themes and subthemes of this study from merged data sets on information needs regarding the care of children with ID among family caregivers. RESULTS The findings highlighted the need for information regarding ID care among family caregivers raising children with ID in the home environment. The information challenges experienced by family caregivers include caring for the challenging behaviour of children with ID and available support resources and services for the children and their families. These challenges impact the care and support required to meet the developmental needs of children with ID. Furthermore, inadequate information on ID among family caregivers in rural communities with a lack of resources restricts the children from accessing required support services. CONCLUSIONS Given the information challenges these families face on ID, the stakeholders must develop continuous training programmes that will equip, empower, and further monitor ID care and management among family caregivers to enhance care and the raising of children with dignity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are no definitive guidelines for clinical decisions for children with cerebral palsy (CP) requiring enteral feeds. Traditionally, medical doctors made enteral feeding decisions, while patients were essentially treated passively within a paternalistic 'doctor knows best' approach. Although a more collaborative approach to decision-making has been promoted globally as the favoured model among healthcare professionals, little is known about how these decisions are currently made practically. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to identify the significant individuals, factors and views involved in the enteral feeding decision-making process for caregivers of children with CP within the South African public healthcare sector. METHOD A single-case research design was used in this qualitative explorative study. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. RESULTS Four primary individuals were identified by the caregivers in the decision-making process: doctors, speech therapists, caregivers' families and God. Four factors were identified as extrinsically motivating: (1) physiological factors, (2) nutritional factors, (3) financial factors and (4) environmental factors. Two views were identified as intrinsically motivating: personal beliefs regarding enteral feeding tubes, and feelings of fear and isolation. CONCLUSION Enteral feeding decision-making within the South African public healthcare sector is currently still dominated by a paternalistic approach, endorsed by a lack of caregiver knowledge, distinct patient-healthcare provider power imbalances and prescriptive multidisciplinary healthcare dialogues.Contribution: This study has implications for clinical practice, curriculum development at higher education training facilities, and institutional policy changes and development, thereby contributing to the current knowledge and clinical gap(s) in the area.

Abstract
Individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) have limited mobility and are unable to actively participate in tasks that are part of their daily living. Thus, continuous therapeutic sessions are required to keep such individuals active and engaged in the environment. Due to the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) lockdowns, rehabilitation for children with CP was inhibited which consequently put them at risk of losing their functional gains which were obtained through previous in-person therapies. In order to avoid this, an alternate to conventional therapy was required and this rendered it necessary to review the role of telerehabilitation (TR) and its various modes for the rehabilitation of children with CP. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of TR for children with CP during COVID-19 through the present literature and to determine if TR is an alternate to conventional physical therapy in children with CP during the coronavirus outbreak. This scoping review was conducted by searching different databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Collaboration, Medline, and Google Scholar on the basis of inclusion criteria. Screening was performed from January 2019 to June 2022 and the initial screening attempt returned 469 studies. After applying the aforementioned criteria, all impertinent studies were excluded which resulted in 28 studies being included for this review as they contained information about the effectiveness of TR on children with CP during COVID-19. These 28 articles included randomised controlled trials, surveys, reviews, clinical trials, case reports, prospective studies, editorials, and longitudinal studies. Three out of the 7 randomised controlled trial studies revealed that action observation treatment can be a useful approach for TR in child with CP during similar pandemics. The other 3 studies supported the use of computer-based games, robots, nonimmersive virtual reality, and wearable haptic devices as a significant means of TR in child with CP as an alternate to routine therapy during COVID-19. TR is an affable mode of rehabilitation specifically for the pediatric population. In the future, it can be an alternate to routine therapy for those who are unlikely to get daily access to in-person therapeutic sessions due to various reasons or circumstances.

Abstract
AIM To identify, map, and describe outcome measurement domains and instruments used within a community setting to assess respiratory health in children and young people aged 1 to 18 years, diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP). METHOD A scoping review methodology informed structured searches in nine databases, grey literature, and registries, conducted in August 2021 (updated in February 2023). Articles were screened for eligibility by two independent researchers. Any outcome measurement instruments used to assess respiratory health or associated impact were extracted, categorized, and mapped to health and health-related domains of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health. RESULTS Seventy-six outcome measurement instruments were identified across 78 articles worldwide between 1970 and 2023. These were categorized into 'Body functions and structures' (n = 20), 'Activity and performance' (n = 22), and 'Participation and quality of life' (n = 19), with a further 15 mapped to 'Health care resources use'. INTERPRETATION No consensus of 'what' to measure and 'how' to measure respiratory health in children and young people with CP was found. Moreover, many measures were not replicable in individuals with more severe forms of CP, excluding those at increased risk of respiratory-related morbidity and mortality. Further research is required to agree important outcome domains and associated measures in research and clinical practice.

Abstract
Depression and anxiety are prevalent mental health issues worldwide, especially among parental caregivers. By expanding the family stress model, this cross-sectional study investigated the relevant factors associated with depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and satisfaction with life among Malaysian parental caregivers of adolescent psychiatric patients. Data were collected through questionnaires (N = 207) across five major public hospitals through convenience sampling. Participants answered questionnaires measuring financial strain, caregiver burden, relationship quality, belief in mental illness, perceived COVID-19 stress, satisfaction with health services, depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms and life satisfaction. Findings revealed that relationship quality among spouses, COVID-19 stress and caregiver burden were significantly correlated with anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms and satisfaction with life. The multiple regression model also suggested that depressive symptoms (β = .613, p < .001), anxiety symptoms (β= .657, p < .001) and relationship quality among spouses (β = .264, p < .001) were the most influential predictors of anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms and satisfaction with life respectively. By addressing the mental health needs of parental caregivers, this study can contribute to improving the overall quality of care and support provided to adolescent patients and their caregivers in Malaysia and beyond.

Abstract
PURPOSE In accordance with South Africa's restrictions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, some speech-language pathologists (SLPs) attempted to engage in novice teletherapy regimes to ensure continuity of care for children with cerebral palsy (CP). This study aimed to explore the experiences of caregivers of children with CP implementing SLP teletherapy during COVID-19 in South Africa. The goal was to shed light on how these families can be better supported and how teletherapy practices can be adjusted for this population. METHODS This study employed a qualitative phenomenological research design using in-person and virtual semi-structured interviews with 18 purposively sampled participants with children with CP who received speech and language teletherapy during COVID-19. The data was evaluated using an inductive thematic analysis approach whereby themes elicited from the caregivers' narratives were analyzed. RESULTS Interviews (n = 18) unveiled the significant understanding caregivers gained by becoming integral and active stakeholders in the provision of teletherapy. Caregivers were able to meaningfully communicate and bond with their children with CP. However, caregivers also assumed the burden that teletherapy placed on them, as they had to renegotiate their role during the pandemic in order to provide routine teletherapy. CONCLUSION Findings indicated the need for person-centered SLP teletherapy interventions that utilize contextually and culturally responsive techniques and resources.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study aims to examine the association between spiritual orientation and the caregiving burden experienced by mothers of children with cerebral palsy. METHODS Parents of 181 children with cerebral palsy, aged 0-18, participated in this cross-sectional-descriptive study. "Sociodemographic Form," "Spiritual Orientation Scale," "Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale," and "Gross Motor Function Classification System" were used to collect data. RESULTS The mothers who participated in the study had a mean age of 35.74 ± 5.94 years. The study showed that 17.1% of children with cerebral palsy did not receive special education, and 92.8% of them were born with a disability. Additionally, 62.4% of the children were found to be undernourished, 48.6% had irregular oral care, 43.1% had semi-active activity, 65.7% had irregular sleeping patterns, and 50.8% only partially understood what was stated. The study discovered that as mothers' ages increased, their spiritual orientation decreased, and their burden of caring increased. Furthermore, the mothers of children with severe disabilities had an increasing burden of care, as indicated by the gross motor classification. CONCLUSIONS The study found that mothers with higher spiritual orientation scores perceived less care burden. These findings suggest the need for implementing activities to provide moral support to mothers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the relationship between affiliate stigma, stress, and perceived quality of life among parents of children with cerebral palsy (CP). METHOD Surveys (Study 1) and semi-structured interviews (Study 2) were used to collect data. Thirty-eight respondents completed the Affiliate Stigma Scale (ASS), Caregiver Burden Inventory (CBI), and Care-related Quality of Life (CarerQol) scales (GMFCS). Eleven respondents took part in semi-structured interviews, which were then thematically evaluated. RESULTS Parents did not feel stigmatized because they had a child with CP. However, parents needed some form of short-term relief from caregiving. After controlling for demographics, high stress respondents experienced high affiliate stigma whereas low stress respondents had better quality of life. Although the respondents with less stigma had a better quality of life, this effect was moderate. Three major themes emerged from the interviews. CONCLUSION Counseling, support groups, and helper services should be offered to parents. Also, healthcare professionals participating in CP rehabilitation, community-based rehabilitation, and health institutions should be educated on how to better help parents of children with CP.

Abstract
Purpose Quality of life (QOL) among disabled children and their caregivers is an important concern in healthcare. We aim to evaluate the quality of life among caregivers of children with cerebral palsy and to observe the effects of various demographic factors and affected child-related factors on caregivers' quality of life. Patients and Methods After ethical approval and written consent was obtained from the participants. One hundred six caregivers of children with cerebral palsy from the Asir region were recruited for the study. Caregivers provided details, including their demographic characteristics, social factors, and information regarding their affected children regarding age, gender, mobility levels, etc. They also completed the Arabic version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire for assessing their QOL. Results All the caregivers were women; their mean age was 40.38 years and SD7.09, and the overall QOL mean and standard deviations were 66.38 ± 12.88. There was a moderately significant correlation between total QOL in comparison with caregivers' educational level and mobility capacity, with R values of 0.54 (p<0.001) and 0.62 (p<0.001), respectively. Conclusion All the subdomains of WHOQOL-BREF were found to be very closely related to the total scores for QOL. The caregivers of children with cerebral palsy had better QOL scores than the cutoff scores proposed in the WHOQOL-BREF scale. Factors such as increased mobility and education of the affected child contributed to better total QOL scores.

Abstract
AIM To synthesize qualitative research findings of caregiver experiences and challenges in caring for and raising a child with cerebral palsy. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-synthesis. METHODS Four electronic databases: CINAHL, Embase, OVID Medline, and Cochrane, were systematically searched for qualitative research papers published before December 2022. Two independent reviewers assessed eligibility and further appraised the quality of methodology using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) tool for qualitative research. A content thematic analysis approach was used to synthesize the qualitative research findings, construct core subthemes, and synthesize themes. RESULTS Sixty-seven findings were extracted from the 12 included studies. The findings were grouped into eleven sub-themes and then into five synthesized themes. The synthesized themes are 1. Need for convenient healthcare facilities, therapeutic services, and accessible public places, 2. Need for healthcare information and financial aid, 3. Psychological, and physical constraints, 4. Societal rejection and stigma, and 5. Overwhelming caring burden. CONCLUSION Caregivers face many challenges in adjusting their lifestyles to meet the needs of the child with cerebral palsy. Some adjustments reported included giving up full-time jobs and businesses to be full-time caregivers, giving up leisure activities, and confinement to one place.

Abstract
PURPOSE Asian children and youth with disabilities often experience multiple barriers, stigmas and discrimination within and outside their families; yet less is understood about their lived experiences. This systematic review explored the experiences of ableism among Asian children and youth with disabilities and their families. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of qualitative studies and a qualitative meta-synthesis. We searched six databases including Ovid Medline, Embase, PsychInfo, Healthstar, Web of Science, and Scopus. RESULTS Forty-two articles met our inclusion criteria involving 17 countries and regions over a 22-year period. The findings were synthesized into four themes: (1) individual- and family-level ableism (i.e., stigma, fears, concerns, stress and anxieties, physical abuse, bullying, reduced engagement in community activities); (2) institutional-level ableism (i.e., barriers to accessing and navigating supports, ableist attitudes among service providers, unavailable services); (3) societal-level ableism (i.e., cultural and religious stigma, social rejection, discrimination, environmental and policy barriers); and (4) coping strategies (i.e., self-care activities, supports from family, friends and people with similar conditions, religious beliefs). CONCLUSIONS Our results highlight the ableist experiences that Asian children and youth with disabilities and their caregivers often encounter and the strong need for further supports to address ableism using culturally responsive strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To identify caregiver and children factors associated with caregiver burden on primary caregivers of children with cerebral palsy (CP). DESIGN Systematic review DATA SOURCES: Seven electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, PsycINFO, Web of Science, CINAHL and Embase, were systematically searched up to 1 February 2023. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Original observational studies reporting caregiver burden and related factors among caregivers of children with CP. DATA ABSTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS Two reviewers independently screened results and assessed the quality of studies. Title, abstract, full-text screening and data abstraction were done independently by two reviewers. Risk of bias was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional Studies. The quality of evidence for factors was rated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. RESULTS 16 articles were included in the review. All studies were cross-sectional and examined caregiver-reported burden measures. The Zarit Burden Interview was the most commonly used questionnaire. Depression of caregiver and severity of illness in children with CP were moderate quality of evidence for factors contributing to caregiver burden. CONCLUSIONS Higher caregiver burden is associated with more depressive feelings and worse life quality of the caregiver, and with more severe physical disability of the children. Future studies should focus on high-quality longitudinal research and appropriate assistance to reduce caregiver burden and improve the quality of caregiving for children with CP. Abstract
Objectives: To describe and correlate burden and social support in low-income caregivers of chronic patients. Material and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 170 low-income family caregivers of people with chronic diseases who answered a survey on sociodemographic and care variables, in addition to the Zarit scale to measure burden and the MOS questionnaire on perceived social support. The analysis was performed using descriptive and differential statistics. Results: Most caregivers were female, and the predominant kinship was father-son. A significant and negative correlation (rs = -.307, p < 0.001) was identified between the caregivers’ burden and perceived social support, as well as a significant and positive correlation (rs = 0.278, p < 0.01) between the time devoted to care and the caregivers’ burden. Conclusions: Low-income family caregivers require more social support to reduce the burden levels.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In South Africa, children with cerebral palsy are nested within a family setting by immediate relatives, particularly in the rural areas. These immediate relatives are regarded as caregivers and are not trained with regard to providing care to children with special needs. Therefore, they have to find ways to adapt to their new roles of caregiving using the available resources. The aim of this paper is to present the challenges encountered by caregivers of children with cerebral palsy in rural areas of South Africa. METHODS This qualitative, explorative, descriptive, and contextual study included 10 caregivers for children with cerebral palsy who were purposively recruited from the three respective hospitals in Vhembe District within Limpopo Province. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and analysed using a thematic approach. Ethical considerations and measures to ensure trustworthiness were upheld throughout the study. RESULTS Four themes emerged from the study, namely economic problems facing caregivers; health problems encountered by caregivers; maltreatment of caregivers by community members, as well as access to transport for caregivers and children. CONCLUSION Participants narrated that caring for a child with cerebral palsy is not an easy task for the caregiver, particularly in the rural areas of South Africa. They encounter various challenges as they strive to provide quality care to the children that they are caring for. An investigation is recommended concerning the kind of model which should be developed to support caregivers in caring for children with cerebral palsy in the rural areas.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to identify factors, including degree of disability, that contribute to the caregiver burden of raising children with cerebral palsy in Sri Lanka. METHODS Participants were caregivers of children with cerebral palsy attending the pediatric neurology clinic of the only tertiary care center in southern Sri Lanka. The locally validated Caregiver Difficulties Scale (CDS) was administered, and demographic information was obtained in a structured interview. Disability data was accessed through the medical record. RESULTS Of 163 caregivers who participated in this study, 133 (81.2%) demonstrated a moderate to high level of burden, and 91 (55.8%) were at high risk for psychological burden. In the bivariate analysis, caregiver burden significantly correlated with degree of physical disability based on the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and the Manual Ability Classification System (MACS), the presence of medical co-morbidities, and having two or more children. However, only the GMFCS level and number of children remained significant predictors of caregiver burden after controlling for confounding effects. CONCLUSION Raising a child with cerebral palsy in Sri Lanka is likely to cause caregiver burden, particularly if they have a high level of disability or one or more siblings. Monitoring caregiver burden as part of routine cerebral palsy management is important, which allows targeting psychosocial support to families most in need.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Art practices such as dance have the potential to support people with disabilities. It is possible that through dancing, bodies that may be regarded as "deficient" can be strengthened while enhancing their personal and cultural identities. It is also possible that inclusive group dance classes can enable the integration of people with disabilities in their social context. However, there is limited research on how these potential benefits are experienced by participants. AIM The purpose of this research is to describe the experience of people with cerebral palsy participating in regular dance classes. METHODS Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six participants with cerebral palsy who participated in an inclusive dance group that was informed by the creative approach of Laban. The interviews were transcribed, coded, and analyzed according to the thematic analysis of Braun and Clarke. The qualitative analysis software program ATLAS.TI version 8 was used for organizing and data analysis. FINDINGS The six interviews were analyzed and codified in four main categories: (1) the experience of cerebral palsy (the body does not help); (2) dance as a form of relationship with myself and the other; (3) the value of dancing and; (4) the dancer. These categories led to the creation of two subthemes: (a) the "unlocking" concerning the therapeutic effect of dance and (b) the "acquisition of a dancer's identity" by engaging with dance as an artform. An overall theme also emerged, "the passage from darkness to light." CONCLUSIONS Individuals with cerebral palsy, while taking the risk of being physically "exposed" in dance classes and dance group performances, managed to unlock their bodies, develop connections with others, acquire the identity of a dancer, and move from "darkness" to "light."

Abstract
Background In Sub-Saharan Africa, 41 to 58% of the caregivers of children with disabilities experience psychological distress and have poor mental well-being. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has a moderate effect on improving mental well-being. However, no study has examined its effects among caregivers of children with disabilities at home and in schools. This study evaluated the effectiveness of CBT in improving mental well-being among caregivers of children with disabilities in urban Uganda. Methods We conducted a two-arm cluster-randomized controlled trial in 11 schools across the Kampala district of Uganda. The intervention was a multi-modal CBT training program conducted for six months among 392 home and school caregivers of children with disabilities. In the first three months, caregivers received group-based CBT, and in the next three months, they received phone-based CBT. We used generalized linear mixed-effects regression to examine the differences in the mental well-being of caregivers in the control group vs those in the intervention group. Results Home caregivers' mental well-being was significantly higher after phone-based CBT (unstandardized coefficient of the estimate (B) = 4.31, 95% CI = 1.18-6.82; P < 0.001, Cohen's D (d) = 0.27). School caregivers' mental well-being was significantly higher after group-based CBT (B = 3.98, 95% CI = 0.22-7.47; P = 0.038, d = 0.25). Conclusions Group-based CBT improved mental well-being among school caregivers, and phone-based CBT improved mental well-being among home caregivers. Interventions targeting school caregivers of children with disabilities should employ group settings and those targeting home caregivers should utilize peer-to-peer networks to enhance the caregivers' mental well-being. Abstract
BACKGROUND Over the past 30 years, treatments from different disciplines have been applied to spastic cerebral palsy (SCP). However, few bibliometric studies have been conducted to date. This study explored the knowledge base, emerging hotspots, and future trends related to SCP treatment research using bibliometric analysis. METHODS Publications on SCP treatment included in the Web of Science Core Collection database between 1990 and 2020 were retrieved, and Medical Subject Headings terms were extracted from PubMed. Online bibliometric analysis website (http://bibliometric.com/), 2 pieces of software called "CiteSpace" and "VOSViewer" were used for quantitative analysis and knowledge map establishment. RESULTS A total of 1668 papers were retrieved from 1990 to 2020. The number of publications has increased annually. Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology is the most productive and the highest co-cited journal. The United States has been the largest contributor. Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam ranked first in the number of papers published among institutions that have conducted correlational research. Becher JG and Graham HK should be considered scholars who have made outstanding contributions. The knowledge base of the SCP treatment research field is thoughtfully constructed to promote understanding of the field. CONCLUSION This bibliometric study identified global achievements, research hotspots, and trends of SCP treatment. They provide insights into the research field and valuable information for future scientific research and clinical treatment.

Abstract
PURPOSE To translate the ACTIVLIM-CP questionnaire, developed to assess global activity performance in children with Cerebral Palsy (CP), into Turkish and to investigate its psychometric properties. METHODS Eighty-nine children with CP, aged between 2 and 18 years (mean age: 10.08 ± 4.94 years), were included in the study. Internal consistency was measured by Cronbach's alpha and test-retest reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Convergent validity was evaluated through the pattern of correlations between the ACTIVLIM-CP with PEDI, ABILOCO-Kids, ABILHAND-Kids, and Wee-FIM scores. Known-group comparisons were made according to epilepsy existence and ambulation level measured by Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). RESULTS Internal consistency was excellent (Cronbach's α = 0.990), and the ICC for the test-retest reliability was 0.990. There was a very strong correlation between ACTIVLIM-CP and ABILHAND-Kids (r = 0.946), WeeFIM (r = 0.900), PEDI Functional Skills and Caregiver Assistance scores (r = 0.954, r = 0.937, respectively), and ABILOCO-Kids (r = 0.817) (p < 0.001) score. ACTIVLIM-CP score was lower in children with epilepsy (p = 0.001) and in the high-level group according to GMFCS (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The Turkish adaptation of ACTIVLIM-CP is a valid and reliable scale for measuring activity limitations in children with CP and is compatible with other scales evaluating activity limitations. CLINICAL TRIAL NUMBER NCT05184244IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONActivity limitation measurements are crucial and necessary to determine the global activity performance of children with CP.ACTIVLIM-CP was translated and culturally adapted to Turkish and showed good psychometric properties.ACTIVLIM-CP is a valid and reliable tool to evaluate activity performance in children with CP.

Abstract
AIM To explore, synthesise and present findings of qualitative studies describing the experiences of mothers raising a child with cerebral palsy. DESIGN A systematic literature review of the qualitative evidence. METHODS A systematic search for qualitative studies published in the following databases: CINAHL (EBSCO), Medline via OVID, SCOPUS, and Google Scholar. The authors independently assessed eligibility, appraised methodological quality using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program tool for qualitative Research (CASP). An inductive thematic analysis method was adopted to synthesise major findings and to construct core concepts and themes. RESULTS Five overarching themes reflecting the experiences and perceptions of mothers raising and caring for a child with cerebral palsy are developed: 1) adapting and making sacrifices; 2) guilt and cultural blame; 3) social stigma and marginalisation; 4) physical, environmental, and financial challenges and 5) healthcare experiences.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Parkinson's disease patients (PwPD) rely heavily on their family caregivers. However, there remains uncertainty regarding the subjective experience of the family caregivers of PwPD. This study aims to provide an in-depth summary of the current knowledge about the subjective experiences of family caregivers caring for PwPD, to understand the factors that influence this experience and to provide the evidence for healthcare services. METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-ethnography using Noblit and Hare's approach. The search strategy used MeSH terms in combination with free-text searching of 10 databases (from their inception until July 2021). Titles and abstracts were reviewed by two reviewers and, for the studies that met the eligibility criteria, full-text articles were obtained. The Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) checklist was employed to assess the quality of studies. RESULTS A total of 3318 studies were screened and 29 qualitative studies were included in this review. These studies recorded the experience of 399 participants across 12 countries, most were females. Five themes emerged: (a) feelings related to PD; (b) challenges to family life; (c) external challenges; (d) adjustment and adaptation; (e) external support. We propose a new conceptual model that highlights that the experiences of caregivers for PwPD are dynamic and influenced by a variety of internal and external factors. CONCLUSION Our findings illustrate the complex and dynamic experiences of family caregivers for PwPD. It is necessary to explore how the influencing factors can be modified to improve the lived experience of family caregivers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parental views and expectations about family-centred care (FCC) need to be understood for its successful implementation. Knowledge of caregiver's perceptions and needs, within their social and cultural context, forms the basis for effective health care partnerships with families. The purpose of this study was to explore perceptions about FCC among caregivers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) in South India. METHOD Fourteen caregivers of children with CP (aged 4-12 years) living in rural areas of the coastal region of Karnataka, India, participated in this qualitative study. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were recorded and transcribed for analysis using the framework and hybrid approaches. Thematic mapping of the categories and themes was done to explore relationships about perceptions of FCC. RESULTS Caregiver's life emerged inductively as a new theme highlighting caregiver's own physical and mental health, family roles and well-being, integrating the onus of care with household responsibilities, limited participation in personal activities and social isolation. The qualitative findings revealed the ubiquity of respectful and trusting relationships with health professionals while expressing paucity of coordinated comprehensive care, sporadic partnerships and opportunities for shared decision-making; desire for receiving specific information related to child's progress and prognosis; and general information on community resources and the need of empowerment and support groups. CONCLUSION Our study has practical implications for the implementation of FCC within the South Indian context, by recognizing unique caregiver needs and expectations in sync with cultural perspectives towards childhood disability such as societal stigma, values and traditional beliefs; attitudes towards medical professionals; and life stressors and gender responsibilities.

Abstract
Abstract Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic brought a strong discussion about telerehabilitation, especially in countries where its practice was not allowed previous the pandemic. In the neuropediatric rehabilitation field evidence of the effectiveness of this modality of assistance and data about provider and family’s perceptions are scarce. Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of telerehabilitation physical therapy consultations for children with neurological diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic and report the perceptions of physical therapists about this modality of assistance. Methods: An online survey was created and administered to Brazilian neuropediatric physical therapists. The survey consisted of demographics data, questions about the characteristics of telerehabilitation consultations, and physical therapists’ perception of telerehabilitation assistance. Results: From July to September 2020, 394 physical therapists responded to the questionnaire. The most of them took 21 to 30 minutes per telemonitoring session (26.9%), offered one session per week (61.0%), and used electronic messages as the main method of delivery (39.9%). The main difficulty reported was caregivers’ lack of understanding about handling during sessions (41.2%) and problems with internet connection (16.7%). Additionally, most of them reported that it is highly important important to provide healthcare via telerehabilitation to the economically disadvantaged. Conclusion: The findings of this study provide insight into the complex and challenging process of telerehabilitation assistance during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the reported challenges, telerehabilitation can be an opportunity to better understand children’s activities and participation in home context.

Abstract
<p style="text-align: justify;">Raising a child with cerebral palsy contains difficult stress, which negatively affects everyone who is involved in this process. In native psychology, this problem is described by I.U. Levchenko, V.V. Tkacheva, V.A. Vishnevsky, T.N. Volkovskaya. However, there is a lack of research on stress for people, who are raising a child with cerebral palsy. The purpose of this review is to learn about foreign studies on stress for people, who are raising children with cerebral palsy. The article describes R. Abidin's current leading model for parental stress. The connection between raising a child with cerebral palsy and parental stress is considered based on R. Abidin's model. Particularly, the results of studies describe specific aspects of parental stress: lack of knowledge on special child care, not an equal assignment for parental responsibilities, separation anxiety, parent's health problems, social isolation, and guilt. Based on the analysis, we can conclude that raising a child with cerebral palsy is associated with a higher level of stress than raising children without disabilities. This information can be used both in similar studies for a domestic sample and in active programs to reduce parental stress.</p>

Abstract
Parenting a child with neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD) is related to a higher rate of anxiety and depression, increased stress, and reduced quality of life. Although there is reason to believe that parenting children with NDD in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) can be challenging, there is a lack of knowledge on the psychological distress among these caregivers, especially in rural areas. The aim of the study was to examine the psychological distress among caregivers having children with NDD in rural Nepal. Sixty-three caregivers were visited in their homes and interviewed by experienced mental health professionals. This study examined demographic information, severity of disability, perceived caregiver burden, and psychological distress, measured by the General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12). The study found a high level of psychological distress in the caregivers (M = 5.38, SD = 2.8). A majority (90.5%) scored two or higher, indicating the presence of a common mental disorder (CMD). Almost half (46%) scored six or higher, indicating a high level of distress. A majority of the caregivers reported that caring for their disabled child had a negative effect on the caregiver’s economy (70%), physical health (65%), social life (64%), and dreams and expectations for the future (81%). There was a significant relationship between the caregiver’s psychological distress (GHQ-12) and degree of disability in the child (Gross Motor Function Classification System), degree of caregiver burden, feeding problems, having health workers as a possible source of help, receiving incentive from the government, having somebody to confide in, and caregiver illiteracy. A forward regression analysis entering the significant factors indicated that caregiver burden, having someone to confide in, and having health workers as a possible source of help were significant related to psychological distress. The final step of the model explained 42.4% of the variance in psychological distress among the caregivers. The study indicates a high level of psychological distress and high overall burden in caregivers of children with NDD in rural Nepal. Further implications for research and service development are discussed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND COVID-19 has caused great changes in all aspects of life which affected all people especially vulnerable groups such as children with disabilities (CWD) and their families. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the challenges facing caregivers of CWD during the pandemic, and to explore these challenges from various physical, social, psychological, and financial aspects. METHODS A cross-sectional design was conducted in Palestine, a total of 130 caregivers of CWD completed a survey consisting of demographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire and the short version of the burden scale for family caregivers (BSFC-s) between March and May 2021. RESULTS Most of the caregivers were mothers (76.9%), the mean age of the children was (6.09 ± 3.43 years). The majority (88.5%) of the caregivers felt physically exhausted, about (75.4%) had decreased living standards, and (86.2%) indicated that caregiving is taking their strength. A high burden score was recorded, the mean BSFC-s score was 20.17 ± 5.57. Significant differences in BSFC-s scores were recorded based on the type of disability, and child's ability to take care of oneself, P < .05. The total scores of the BSFC-s were positively correlated with the physical, social, psychological, and financial challenges facing the caregivers (P < .001). CONCLUSIONS COVID-19 has caused increased burdens on the caregivers of CWD and a negative impact on the child's mobility accompanying a lack of access to health and rehabilitation services. Vital factors are to be considered in developing strategic health and rehabilitative plans for promoting better care for caregivers and their CWD during lockdown restrictions time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND While COVID-19 outbreak has had adverse psychological effects in children with special needs, the mental state and burden on their caregivers during this pandemic has yet to be reported. AIMS The objectives of this study were to describe the mental health status and the change in perceived strain among caregivers during the COVID-19 outbreak. METHODS AND PROCEDURES Two hundred sixty four caregivers completed an online survey that assessed demographics, use and perspective on tele-rehabilitation, homecare therapy, caregiver's strain and mental health. OUTCOMES AND RESULTS The prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress symptoms were found to be 62.5 %, 20.5 % and 36.4 % respectively. A significant difference in caregiver strain (p < 0.001, effect size = 0.93) was observed during the outbreak compared to levels pre-outbreak (pre-outbreak strain was measured retrospectively). Caregivers not using tele-rehabilitation along with a perception of it being a poor medium for rehabilitation were at greater risks for poor mental health whereas a negative perception on homecare therapy were strongly associated with higher psychological symptoms and strain. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS This study identified a high prevalence of depression and significant change in strain displayed by caregivers during the COVID-19 outbreak. We identified several factors associated with poor mental health and perceived strain that can be used to help safeguard caregivers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study evaluated the impact on caregiver strain and family empowerment among caregivers of children with disabilities who received training and education as part of a family-centred community-based early intervention programme in South India. METHODS This prospective open cohort longitudinal study compared change from baseline to two years post-intervention among caregivers of the first cohort of children who were enrolled in the programme. Paired t-tests determined effect on the Modified Caregiver Strain Index (MCSI) and Family Empowerment Scale (FES), and p-values were adjusted for multiple comparisons using the False Discovery Rate approach. RESULTS Of the 308 caregivers (91% women), 44% provided care to children with cerebral palsy and 56% to children with other developmental delays. The mean age of the children at baseline was 3.3 (±1.5 years). The overall mean change from baseline in the FES was 4.1 (95% CI: 3.3, 4.9; p < 0.001) representing improved empowerment. The mean change for the MCSI score was -3.7 (95% CI: -4.5, -2.9; p < 0.001) representing reduced caregiver strain. CONCLUSIONS A family-centred early intervention programme that provides training and education to caregivers of children with developmental delays demonstrated positive change in caregiver strain and family empowerment.Implications for RehabilitationThe well-being of a child is influenced by the well-being of their caregiver.Improving caregiver well-being can help improve care and support for children with developmental delays.A family-centred early intervention therapy programme that includes training and education to caregivers can reduce strain and improve family empowerment.
