Abstract
Drug resistance is the major difficulty in treatment of lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). This study aims to explore drug response-related miRNAs (DRmiRNAs) based on multi-omics research. We identified DRmiRNAs of LUSC with a multi-omics integrated system that combines expression data of microRNA, lncRNA, mRNA, methylation levels, somatic mutations. After identifying DRmiRNAs, we screened and validated of the target mRNAs of DRmiRNAs through Targetscan and the miRDB database. Then, Real-time PCR and Western blot assays were used to estimate the expression of DRmiRNAs and target protein, and the dual-luciferase assays were used to confirm the interaction of DRmiRNAs and target mRNA. Furthermore, CCK-8 (Cell Counting Kit-8) assays were used to evaluate cell proliferation and drug sensitivity. After integrated analysis, hsa-miR-185-5p was identified as DRmiRNA based on multi-omics data. Through Targetscan and miRDB database, the possible target mRNAs were obtained and PCDHA11 was validated as a target mRNA of miR-185-5p by real-time PCR, Western blot assays and dual-luciferase assays. CCK-8 assays and clone formation assays showed that the proliferation of miR-185-5p mimics was significantly slower than that of miR-185-5p inhibitors, which means overexpression of miR-185-5p enhanced the anticancer effects of cisplatin, whereas the downregulation of miR-185-5p reduced the effects. Furthermore, the proliferation of silencing PCDHA11 was significantly slower than that of overexpression of PCDHA11, which means PCDHA11 overexpression weakened the anticancer effects of cisplatin, and silencing PCDHA11 enhanced the effects. This study demonstrated that miR-185-5p was involved in chemoresistance of LUSC cells to cisplatin partly via down-regulating PCDHA11, which may promote understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms of drug response.

Abstract
This study aimed to assess the utility of serum YKL-40 and serum dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP4) as biomarkers for distinguishing between type 2 (T2)-high and T2-low asthma in the Chinese population. Additionally, we sought to explore the associations of serum YKL-40 and DPP4 levels with asthma characteristics and conventional markers. A real-world observational cross-sectional study was conducted, involving a total of 75 adult asthma patients. We collected general information, including demographics and medical history. Measurements included complete blood count, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), post-bronchodilator spirometry, serum YKL-40 and serum DPP4 levels. Asthma endotypes, T2-high and T2-low, were defined through a comprehensive review of existing literature and expert group discussions. Logistic and linear regression models were employed. Our findings indicated no significant association between serum YKL-40 or serum DPP4 levels and T2-high asthma across all models. In the fully adjusted model, their odds ratios (OR) were 0.967 (95% CI: 0.920-1.017) and 0.997 (95% CI: 0.993-1.001), respectively. Notably, serum YKL-40 exhibited a positive correlation with FeNO (β = 0.382, 95% CI: 0.230-0.533) after adjusting for confounding factors. This association, however, diminished in patients under 40 years old (P = .24), males (P = .25), and those with FEV1%pred of 80% or higher (P = .25). Serum DPP4 demonstrated a negative correlation with FEV1/FVC in the fully adjusted model (β: -0.005, 95% CI: -0.009, -0.000). Among Chinese adult asthma patients, a positive correlation was observed between serum YKL-40 levels and FeNO in females aged over 40 with FEV1%pred less than 80%. Additionally, a weak negative correlation was found between serum DPP4 levels and FEV1/FVC. However, neither serum YKL-40 nor serum DPP4 levels exhibited the capability to differentiate between T2-high and T2-low asthma.

Abstract
Conventional carbon fiber felt-reinforced aerogel composites are often used as lightweight thermal protection systems (TPSs) for aerospace craft. However, due to their poor oxidation resistance, they have gradually failed to handle increasingly harsh thermal environments. In this work, a nanoscale composite coating interface of SiC-ZrC ceramic precursor is first constructed on the fiber surface. Subsequently, using the coated fiber felt as a three-dimensional skeleton and through polymerization-induced phase separation, an aerogel composite with excellent thermal protection in extreme thermal environments is prepared. Owing to the in situ ceramization of this nanoscale interface at ultrahigh temperatures, the back temperature of the 12 mm thick aerogel is only 147 °C after exposure to an oxyacetylene flame at 1950 °C for 70 s. Meanwhile, the central region of the aerogel recedes by only 7%. Not only does this work provide a way to enhance aerogels by constructing a self-ceramizable nanoscale interface it is also expected that the developed aerogel composite can be applied in the ultrahigh-temperature thermal protection of future aerospace craft.

Abstract
PURPOSE FSTL3 expression is altered in various types of cancer. However, the role and mechanism of action of FSTL3 in lung adenocarcinoma development and tumor immunity are unknown. We investigated the association between FSTL3 expression and clinical characteristics and immune cell infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and a separate validation set from our hospital. METHODS Data on immune system infiltration, gene expression, and relevant clinical information were obtained by analyzing lung adenocarcinoma sample data from TCGA database. Using online tools like GEPIA, the correlations between FSTL3 expression and prognosis, clinical stage, survival status, and tumor-infiltrating immune cells were examined. In a validation dataset, immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze FSTL3 expression and its related clinical characteristics. RESULTS FSTL3 expression was markedly reduced in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. N stage, pathological stage, and overall survival were significantly correlated with FSTL3 expression. According to GSEA, FSTL3 is strongly linked to signaling pathways such as DNA replication and those involved in cell cycle regulation. Examination of TCGA database and TIMER online revealed a correlation between FSTL3 and B cell, T cell, NK cell, and neutrophil levels. The prognosis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma was significantly affected by six genes (KRT6A, VEGFC, KRT14, KRT17, SNORA12, and KRT81) related to FSTL3. CONCLUSION FSTL3 is significantly associated with the prognosis and progression of lung adenocarcinoma and the infiltration of immune cells. Thus, targeting FSTL3 and its associated genes in immunotherapy could be potentially beneficial for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma.

Abstract
Background Natural killer (NK) cells are crucial for tumor prognosis; however, their role in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unclear. The current detection methods for NSCLC are inefficient and costly. Therefore, radiomics represent a promising alternative. Methods We analyzed the radiogenomics datasets to extract clinical, radiological, and transcriptome data. The effect of NK cells on the prognosis of NSCLC was assessed. Tumors were delineated using a 3D Slicer, and features were extracted using pyradiomics. A radiomics model was developed and validated using five-fold cross-validation. A nomogram model was constructed using the selected clinical variables and a radiomic score (RS). The CIBERSORTx database and gene set enrichment analysis were used to explore the correlations of NK cell infiltration and molecular mechanisms. Results Higher infiltration of NK cells was correlated with better overall survival (OS) (P = 0.002). The radiomic model showed an area under the curve of 0.731, with 0.726 post-validation. The RS differed significantly between high and low infiltration of NK cells (P < 0.01). The nomogram, using RS and clinical variables, effectively predicted 3-year OS. NK cell infiltration was correlated with the ICOS and BTLA genes (P < 0.001) and macrophage M0/M2 levels. The key pathways included TNF-α signaling via NF-κB and Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Conclusions Our radiomic model accurately predicted NK cell infiltration in NSCLC. Combined with clinical characteristics, it can predict the prognosis of patients with NSCLC. Bioinformatic analysis revealed the gene expression and pathways underlying NK cell infiltration in NSCLC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Mitophagy and aging (MiAg) are very important pathophysiological mechanisms contributing to tumorigenesis. MiAg-related genes have prognostic value in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, prognostic, and immune correlation studies of MiAg-related genes in LUAD are lacking. METHODS MiAg differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in LUAD were obtained from public sequencing datasets. A prognostic model including MiAg DEGs was constructed according to patients divided into low- and high-risk groups. Gene Ontology, gene set enrichment analysis, gene set variation analysis, CIBERSORT immune infiltration analysis, and clinical characteristic correlation analyses were performed for functional annotation and correlation of MiAgs with prognosis in patients with LUAD. RESULTS Seven MiAg DEGs of LUAD were identified: CAV1, DSG2, DSP, MYH11, NME1, PAICS, PLOD2, and the expression levels of these genes were significantly correlated (P < 0.05). The RiskScore of the MiAg DEG prognostic model demonstrated high predictive ability of overall survival of patients diagnosed with LUAD. Patients with high and low MiAg phenotypic scores exhibited significant differences in the infiltration levels of eight types of immune cells (P < 0.05). The multi-factor DEG regression model showed higher efficacy in predicting 5-year survival than 3- and 1-year survival of patients with LUAD. CONCLUSIONS Seven MiAg-related genes were identified to be significantly associated with the prognosis of patients diagnosed with LUAD. Moreover, the identified MiAg DEGs might affect the immunotherapy strategy of patients with LUAD.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the diagnostic efficiency of conventional serum tumor markers and their combination with chest CT for stage ⅠA lung cancer. Methods: A total of 1 155 patients with stage ⅠA lung cancer and 200 patients with benign lung lesions (confirmed by surgery) treated at the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 2016 to October 2020 were retrospectively enrolled in this study. Six conventional serum tumor markers [carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), squamous cell carcinoma associated antigen (SCCA), cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), and gastrin-releasing peptide precursor (ProGRP)] and chest thin-slice CT were performed on all patients one month before surgery. Pathology was taken as the gold standard to analyze the difference of positivity rates of tumor markers between the lung cancer group and the benign group, the moderate/poor differentiation group and the well differentiation group, the adenocarcinoma group and the squamous cell carcinoma group, the lepidic and non-lepidic predominant adenocarcinoma groups, the solid nodule group and the subsolid nodule group based on thin-slice CT, and subgroups of ⅠA1 to ⅠA3 lung cancers. The diagnostic performance of tumor markers and tumor markers combined with chest CT was analyzed using the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results: The positivity rates of six serum tumor markers in the lung cancer group and the benign group were 2.32%-20.08% and 0-13.64%, respectively; only the SCCA positivity rate in the lung cancer group was higher than that in the benign group (10.81% and 0, P=0.022). There were no significant differences in the positivity rates of other serum tumor markers between the two groups (all P>0.05). The combined detection of six tumor markers showed that the positivity rate of the lung cancer group was higher than that of the benign group (40.93% and 18.18%, P=0.004), and the positivity rate of the adenocarcinoma group was lower than that of the squamous cell carcinoma group (35.66% and 47.41%, P=0.045). The positivity rates in the poorly differentiated group and moderately differentiated group were higher than that in the well differentiated group (46.48%, 43.75% and 22.73%, P=0.025). The positivity rate in the non-lepidic adenocarcinoma group was higher than that in lepidic adenocarcinoma group (39.51% and 21.74%, P=0.001). The positivity rate of subsolid nodules was lower than that of solid nodules (30.01% vs 58.71%, P=0.038), and the positivity rates of stageⅠA1, ⅠA2 and ⅠA3 lung cancers were 33.33%, 48.96% and 69.23%, respectively, showing an increasing trend (P=0.005). The sensitivity and specificity of the combined detection of six tumor markers in the diagnosis of stage ⅠA lung cancer were 74.00% and 56.30%, respectively, and the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.541. The sensitivity and specificity of the combined detection of six serum tumor markers with CT in the diagnosis of stage ⅠA lung cancer were 83.0% and 78.3%, respectively, and the AUC was 0.721. Conclusions: For stage ⅠA lung cancer, the positivity rates of commonly used clinical tumor markers are generally low. The combined detection of six markers can increase the positivity rate. The positivity rate of markers tends to be higher in poorly differentiated lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, or solid nodules. Tumor markers combined with thin-slice CT showed limited improvement in diagnostic efficiency for early lung cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pulsed field ablation in individuals diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. METHODS A total of 36 patients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation were enrolled in the pulsed field ablation group, while another 36 patients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation were included in the radiofrequency ablation group. Among the study participants, 15 patients in the pulsed field ablation group and 17 patients in the radiofrequency ablation group had persistent atrial fibrillation. Comprehensive comparisons were made between the two groups, including baseline data, underlying diseases, medication usage, intraoperative parameters, and atrial fibrillation recurrence rates at 1, 3, and 6 months during the postoperative follow-up period. RESULTS (1) There were no significant differences observed between the two groups concerning baseline data and antiarrhythmic drug usage (P > 0.05); (2) the effective ablation time for both left and right pulmonary veins in the pulsed field ablation group was markedly shorter compared to the radiofrequency ablation group (P < 0.001 for each vein); (3) within the pulsed field ablation group, the number of discharges, catheter operation time, and effective ablation time for the left pulmonary vein were significantly higher than those for the right pulmonary vein (P < 0.05). Conversely, in the radiofrequency ablation group, the number of discharges for the left pulmonary vein was significantly higher than that for the right pulmonary vein (P < 0.05); and (4) when comparing sinus rhythm maintenance at 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively, no statistically significant differences were noted between the two groups for paroxysmal, persistent, and paroxysmal + persistent atrial fibrillation cases (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION During the 6-month follow-up period, pulsed field ablation demonstrated comparable efficacy to radiofrequency ablation with respect to recurrence rates for both paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation. Moreover, pulsed field ablation exhibited high safety levels, excellent surgical efficiency, and a notably brief learning curve, affirming its viability as a therapeutic option for these conditions.

Abstract
Objectives The present study aims at establishing a noninvasive and reliable model for the preoperative prediction of glypican 3 (GPC3)-positive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) based on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical indicators. Methods As a retrospective study, the subjects included 158 patients from two institutions with surgically-confirmed single HCC who underwent preoperative MRI between 2020 and 2022. The patients, 102 from institution I and 56 from institution II, were assigned to the training and the validation sets, respectively. The association of the clinic-radiological variables with the GPC3 expression was investigated through performing univariable and multivariable logistic regression (LR) analyses. The synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) was used to balance the minority group (GPC3-negative HCCs) in the training set, and diagnostic performance was assessed by the area under the curve (AUC) and accuracy. Next, a prediction nomogram was developed and validated for patients with GPC3-positive HCC. The performance of the nomogram was evaluated through examining its calibration and clinical utility. Results Based on the results obtained from multivariable analyses, alpha-fetoprotein levels > 20 ng/mL, 75th percentile ADC value < 1.48 ×103 mm2/s and R2* value ≥ 38.6 sec-1 were found to be the significant independent predictors of GPC3-positive HCC. The SMOTE-LR model based on three features achieved the best predictive performance in the training (AUC, 0.909; accuracy, 83.7%) and validation sets (AUC, 0.829; accuracy, 82.1%) with a good calibration performance and clinical usefulness. Conclusions The nomogram combining multiparametric MRI and clinical indicators is found to have satisfactory predictive efficacy for preoperative prediction of GPC3-positive HCC. Accordingly, the proposed method can promote individualized risk stratification and further treatment decisions of HCC patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Juglans sigillata L. (walnut) has a high economic value for nuts and wood and has been widely grown and eaten around the world. Light plays an important role in regulating the development of the walnut embryo and promoting nucleolus enlargement, which is one of the factors affecting the yield and quality of walnut. However, little is known about the effect of light on the growth and quality of walnuts. Studies have shown that far red prolonged hypocotyl 3 (FHY3) and far red damaged response (FAR1) play important roles in plant growth, light response, and resistance. Therefore, FHY3/FAR1 genes were identified in walnuts on a genome-wide basis during their growth and development to reveal the potential regulation mechanisms involved in walnut kernel growth and development. RESULTS In the present study, a total of 61 FHY3/FAR1 gene family members in walnuts have been identified, ranging in length from 117 aa to 895 aa. These gene family members have FHY3 or FAR1 conserved domains, which are unevenly distributed on the 15 chromosomes (Chr) of the walnut (except for the Chr16). All 61 FHY3/FAR1 genes were divided into five subclasses (I, II, III, IV, and V) by phylogenetic tree analysis. The results indicated that FHY3/FAR1 genes in the same subclasses with similar structures might be involved in regulating the growth and development of walnut. The gene expression profiles were analyzed in different walnut kernel varieties (Q, T, and F). The result showed that some FHY3/FAR1 genes might be involved in the regulation of walnut kernel ripening and seed coat color formation. Seven genes (OF07056-RA, OF09665-RA, OF24282-RA, OF26012-RA, OF28029-RA, OF28030-RA, and OF08124-RA) were predicted to be associated with flavonoid biosynthetic gene regulation cis-acting elements in promoter sequences. RT-PCR was used to verify the expression levels of candidate genes during the development and color change of walnut kernels. In addition, light responsiveness and MeJA responsiveness are important promoter regulatory elements in the FHY3/FAR1 gene family, which are potentially involved in the light response, growth, and development of walnut plants. CONCLUSION The results of this study provide a valuable reference for supplementing the genomic sequencing results of walnut, and pave the way for further research on the FHY3/FAR1 gene function of walnut.

Abstract
Lightweight polyimide foams (PIFs) with exceptional thermal resistance and compressive properties are fabricated by heating polyester ammonium salts (PEASs) which are prepared by copolymerizing 4, 4'-diaminobenzanilide (DABA), 4, 4'-diaminodiphenyl methane (MDA) and 3, 3', 4, 4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA). Hydrogen bonds are formed between CONH and CO in the PI chains due to the addition of DABA and the melt viscosity of PEAS precursors increase with increasing content of DABA, which is advantageous to bind the foaming gases for cell expansion. The expansion ratio of PEAS precursors is increased from 633% to 1133% when the molar ratio of MDA/DABA is changed from 10:0 to 6:4. The compressive strength and modulus of PIFM9D1 (i.e., the molar ratio of MDA/DABA is 9:1, foam density: 120.8 kg m-3 ) reach as high as 0.59 and 15.0 MPa, respectively. The PIFs possess prominent thermal performance with the initial thermal degradation temperatures (under both nitrogen and air atmosphere) and glass transition temperatures (as assessed by DSC and DMA) exceeding 511 and 292 °C, respectively. The thermal conductivity of PIFs is lower than 0.049 W m-1 K-1 , which exhibits promising applications for serving as high-temperature thermal insulation materials in the fields of aerospace, marine, and nuclear sectors among others.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lipid metabolism is a key factor in tumorigenesis and drug resistance, and models related to lipid metabolism have shown potential to predict survival and curative effects of adjuvant therapy in various cancers. However, the relationship between lipid metabolism and prognosis and treatment response of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) are still unclear. METHODS We enrolled seven bulk RNA-sequence datasets (GSE37745, GSE19188, GSE30219, GSE31547, GSE41271, GSE42127, and GSE72094) from the GEO database and one single-cell RNA-sequencing dataset (GSE117570) from the TISCH2 database. Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) was utilized to construct the risk score model based on lipid score calculated by GSVA algorithm. Phs000452.v3, PMID: 26359337, PMID: 32472114, PRJEB23709 datasets were used to test the response to immunotherapy. Drug sensitivity analysis was assessed according to the GDSC database, and immunotherapy response was evaluated using the Wilcoxon test. Cellular function assays including clone formation, EDU assays and flow cytometry were implemented to explore the phenotype alteration caused by the knockdown of PTDSS1, which is one of key gene in risk score model. RESULTS We analyzed both bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data to establish and validate a risk score model based on 18 lipid metabolism-related genes with significant impact on prognosis. After divided the patients into two groups according to risk score, we identified differences in lipid-related metabolic processes and a detailed portrait of the immune landscapes of high- and low-risk groups. Moreover, we investigated the potentials of our risk score in predicting response to immunotherapy and drug sensitivity. In addition, we silenced PTDSS1 in LUAD cell lines, and found that the proliferation of the cells was weakened, and the apoptosis of the cells was increased. CONCLUSION Our study highlights the crucial roles of lipid metabolism in LUAD and provides a reliable risk score model, which can aid in predicting prognosis and response to immunotherapy. Furthermore, we investigated the roles of PTDSS1 in LUAD carcinogenesis, which showed that PTDSS1 regulated proliferation and apoptosis of LUAD cells.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of anterolateral thigh chimeric perforator flap in repairing complex wounds of foot and ankle. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted. From May 2018 to June 2022, 23 patients who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University to repair complex wounds of foot and ankle with anterolateral thigh chimeric perforator flaps, including 15 males and 8 females, aged from 20 to 66 years. The wounds were all accompanied by bone exposure and defects, and were complicated with varying degrees of infection. All patients underwent debridement and continuous vacuum sealing drainage treatment for 1 week in stage Ⅰ, with the skin and soft tissue defect area after debridement being 10 cm×5 cm to 22 cm×7 cm. In stage Ⅱ, the anterolateral thigh chimeric perforator flap was used to cover the defective wound, of which the muscle flap was used to fill the deep invalid cavity of the ankle joint or cover bone and internal fixation exposures, and the skin flap was used to cover the superficial wound, with the area of the skin flap ranging from 11 cm×6 cm to 23 cm×8 cm, and the area of the muscle flap ranging from 4.0 cm×2.5 cm to 8.0 cm×5.0 cm. The survival of the flap was observed after operation. During follow-up, the color, texture, appearance, and complications of the flap were observed, the function of ankle joint and its range of dorsiflexion motion and plantar flexion motion were measured, and the scar hyperplasia and muscular hernia in donor area were observed. Results: Ecchymosis and epidermal necrosis occurred at the tip of the flap in 1 patient on 5 days after operation and healed after dressing change for 1 week; the other flaps of patients survived successfully. After 6 to 40 months of follow-up, the color, texture, and shape of flaps were good, but 1 patient was not satisfied with the shape of the flap because of flap swelling; the ankle joint movement was basically normal, the dorsiflexion motion was 15-30°, and the plantar flexion motion was 20-45°; the scar hyperplasia in the donor area of the flap was not obvious, and no muscular hernia occurred. Conclusions: The anterolateral thigh chimeric perforator flap can effectively fill the deep invalid cavity of ankle joint and cover the superficial wound at the same time, with minimal damage to the donor site. So it is an ideal flap for repairing the complex wounds of foot and ankle.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is thought to be the least aggressive thyroid cancer, it has a significant recurrence rate. Therefore, we aimed to develop a nomogram to estimate the probability of biochemical recurrence (BIR) and structural recurrence (STR) in patients with stage cN1 PTC. METHODS We studied the relationship between the characteristics of patients with stage N1a PTC and the risk of recurrence by analysing the data of 617 inpatients (training cohort) and 102 outpatients (validation cohort) in our hospital. We used the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression model to identify prognostic indicators to construct nomograms to predict the risk of BIR and STR. RESULTS There were 94 (15.24%) BIR cases in the training cohort and 36 (35.29%) in the validation cohort. There were 31 (5.02%) STR cases in the training cohort and 23 (22.55%) cases in the validation cohort. The variables included in the BIR nomogram were sex, age at diagnosis, tumour size, extrathyroidal infiltration, and lymph node ratio (LNR). While the variables included in the STR nomogram were tumour size, extrathyroidal infiltration, BRAF state, metastatic lymph nodes, and LNR. Both the prediction models demonstrated good discrimination ability. The results showed the calibration curve of the nomogram was near the optimum diagonal line, and the decision curve analysis showed a noticeably better benefit. CONCLUSION The LNR may be a valid prognostic indicator for patients with stage cN1 PTC. The nomograms could help clinicians identify high-risk patients and choose the best postsurgical therapy and monitoring.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy (TOETVA) is widely utilized in clinical practice, some problems and restrictions still remain. Our study compared the perioperative features and early surgical efficacy of TOETVA and a modified transoral and submental endoscopic thyroidectomy (TOaST) in early stage papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). METHODS The clinical data of PTC patients who underwent endoscopic thyroidectomy, including 42 modified TOaST patients and 114 traditional TOETVA patients, were retrospectively collected. Propensity score matching was employed to reduce patient selection bias. The perioperative features and early surgical efficacy data of two groups were compared. RESULTS The operation time of the TOaST group was significantly shorter than that of the TOETVA group (150.00 ± 35.47 min vs. 168.75 ± 44.49 min; P = 0.030). Furthermore, the TOaST group required shorter days for a normal diet (3.38 ± 0.93 days vs. 4.04 ± 1.03 days; P = 0.000) and a shorter hospital stay than the TOETVA group (5.85 ± 2.17 days vs. 6.12 ± 2.01 days; P = 0.003). There was no statistical difference in complications between the two groups, but the probability of numbness of the lower lip and chin in the TOaST group was lower than that in the TOETVA group(5.12% vs. 13.04%, P = 0.321). The symptoms of mandibular numbness and hoarseness of most patients were relieved in both groups 6 months after surgery, and no abnormalities and recurrence were found in the thyroid ultrasound. All the patients were satisfied with the appearance of their surgical incision. CONCLUSION In early stage PTC patients, TOaST had the same surgical effectiveness as traditional TOETVA but can minimize the probability of mandibular numbness and improve the perioperative quality of life.

Abstract
This paper focuses the algorithm of the true temperature inversion for high-temperature targets with unknown emissivity by transforming multi-spectral true temperature inversion into multi-objective minimum optimization. Two improved fractional-order particle swarm optimizations (IFOPSO), high-order nonlinear time-varying inertia weight (Hntiw) IFOPSO and global-local best values (Glbest) IFOPSO, are proposed to obtain the true temperature by solving the multi-objective minimum optimization. Combining the inherent advantages of fractional-order calculus to jump out of the local extreme value, the Hntiw IFOPSO algorithm is proposed by replacing the linear time-varying inertia weights with nonlinear functions related to the total number of iterations and the current number of iterations. The Glbest IFOPSO algorithm is designed by using the global local optimal inertia weight and acceleration constant to update the particle velocity and position values, which improves the multi-objective optimization ability and the accuracy of the true temperature inversion. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by the simulation with typical spectral emissivity models and the measured data from rocket tail flame.

Abstract
We present a facile chemical method for fabricating bioinspired microadhesives with significant improved reversible adhesion strength. Four kinds of polysiloxane with gradient varying phenyl contents were synthesized and used to fabricate microadhesives. The chemical structures and mechanical properties, as well as surface properties of the four microadhesives, were confirmed and characterized by ATR-FTIR, DSC, XPS, low-field NMR, tensile tests, and SEM, respectively. The macroadhesion test results revealed that phenyl contents showed remarkable and positive impacts on the macroadhesion performance of microadhesives. The pull-off adhesion strength of microadhesives with 90% phenyl content (0.851 N/cm2) was nearly 300% higher than that of pure PDMS (0.309 N/cm2). The macroadhesion mechanism analysis demonstrates that a larger bulk energy dissipation caused by massive π-π interaction, as well as the hydrophobic interaction and van der Waals forces at the interface synergistically resulted in a significant enhancement of the adhesion performance. Our results demonstrate the remarkable impact of chemical structures on the adhesion of microadhesives, and it is conducive to the further improvement of adhesion properties of bioinspired microadhesives.

Abstract
Introduction Lymph node metastasis in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is associated with postoperative recurrence. Recently, most studies have focused on the evaluation of recurrence in patients with late-stage PTC, with limited data on those with early-stage PTC. We aimed to assess the relationship between lymph node ratio (LNR) and recurrence in low-to-intermediate-risk patients and validate its diagnostic efficiency in both structural (STR) and biochemical recurrence (BIR). Methods Clinical data of patients with PTC diagnosed at the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University were retrospectively collected. The optimal LNR cut-off values for disease-free survival (DFS) were determined using X-tile software. Predictors were validated using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. Results LNR had a higher diagnostic effectiveness than metastatic lymph nodes in patients with low-to-intermediate recurrence risk N1a PTC. The optimal LNR cutoff values for STR and BIR were 0.75 and 0.80, respectively. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that LNR≥0.75 and LNR≥0.80 were independent factors for STR and BIR, respectively. The 5-year DFS was 90.5% in the high LNR (≥0.75) and 96.8% in low LNR (<0.75) groups for STR. Regarding BIR, the 5-year DFS was 75.7% in the high LNR (≥0.80) and 86.9% in low LNR (<0.80) groups. The high and low LNR survival curves exhibited significant differences on the log-rank test. Conclusion LNR was associated with recurrence in patients with low-to-intermediate recurrence risk N1a PTC. We recommend those with LNR≥0.75 require a comprehensive evaluation of lateral neck lymphadenopathy and consideration for lateral neck dissection and RAI treatment.

Abstract
Despite prior efforts to understand and target dynapenia (age-induced loss of muscle strength), this condition remains a major challenge that reduces the quality of life in the aged population. We have focused on the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) where changes in structure and function have rarely been systematically studied as a dynamic and progressive process. Our cross-sectional study found neurotransmission at the male mouse NMJ to be biphasic, displaying an early increase followed by a later decrease, and this phenotype was associated with structural changes to the NMJ. A cross-sectional characterization showed that age-induced alterations fell into four age groups: young adult (3-6 months), adult (7-18 months), early aged (19-24 months), and later aged (25-30 months). We then utilized a small molecule therapeutic candidate, GV-58, applied acutely during the later aged stage to combat age-induced reductions in transmitter release by increasing calcium influx during an action potential, which resulted in a significant increase in transmitter release. This comprehensive study of neuromuscular ageing at the NMJ will enable future research to target critical time points for therapeutic intervention. KEY POINTS: Age-induced frailty and falls are the leading causes of injury-related death and are caused by an age-induced loss of muscle strength due to a combination of neurological and muscular changes. A cross-sectional approach was used to study age-induced changes to the neuromuscular junction in a mouse model, and physiological changes that were biphasic over the ageing time course were found. Changes in physiology at the neuromuscular junction were correlated with alterations in neuromuscular junction morphology. An acutely applied positive allosteric gating modifier of presynaptic voltage-gated calcium channels was tested as a candidate therapeutic strategy that could increase transmitter release at aged neuromuscular junctions. These results provide a detailed time course of age-induced changes at the neuromuscular junction in a mouse model and test a candidate therapeutic strategy for weakness.

Abstract
Forests play a critical role in stabilizing Earth's climate. Establishing protected areas (PAs) represents one approach to forest conservation, but PAs were rarely created to mitigate climate change. The global impact of PAs on the carbon cycle has not previously been quantified due to a lack of accurate global-scale carbon stock maps. Here we used ~412 million lidar samples from NASA's GEDI mission to estimate a total PA aboveground carbon (C) stock of 61.43 Gt (+/- 0.31), 26% of all mapped terrestrial woody C. Of this total, 9.65 + /- 0.88 Gt of additional carbon was attributed to PA status. These higher C stocks are primarily from avoided emissions from deforestation and degradation in PAs compared to unprotected forests. This total is roughly equivalent to one year of annual global fossil fuel emissions. These results underscore the importance of conservation of high biomass forests for avoiding carbon emissions and preserving future sequestration.

Abstract
Mycolicibacterium phocaicum RL-HY01, a marine bacterial strain with the capability to degrade phthalic acid esters (PAEs), was isolated from Zhanjiang Bay, China. Here, the complete genome sequence of strain RL-HY01 was presented. The genome of strain RL-HY01 contains one circular chromosome of 6,064,759 bp with a G + C content of 66.93 mol%. The genome contains 5681 predicted protein-encoding genes, 57 tRNA genes, and 6 rRNA genes. Genes and gene clusters potentially involved in the metabolism of PAEs were further identified. The genome Mycolicibacterium phocaicum RL-HY01 will be helpful for advancing our understanding of the fate of PAEs in marine ecosystem.

Abstract
Based on the strategy of killing two birds with one stone, we introduce thermally expandable microspheres into a silicone rubber matrix to fabricate temperature-responsive controllable deformation materials, which exhibit intelligent deformation properties as well as enhanced thermal protection performance, for dynamic thermal protection in the next-generation morphing aircrafts. The formation of hollow structures endows the material with intelligent thermal management ability and makes the thermal conductivity controllable, meeting the requirements of rapid deformation and excellent thermal insulation. The dimensions of the material adaptively expand with increasing temperature, and a constant 50N force can be provided to ensure reliable sealing. Moreover, benefiting from the synergistic effect of the hollow structure and zinc borate in the ceramization process of the silicone rubber, the 10 mm thick material can reduce the temperature from 2000 to 63 °C, and the mass ablation rate is only 4.8 mg/s. To broaden the application of our material, a sensor with a sandwich structure composed of different functional layers is designed. It is pleasantly surprising to observe that the sensor can provide real-time remote warning of fire and overheating sites with a response time as short as 1 s. This synergistic strategy opens a new possibility to fabricate intelligent thermal protection materials.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the detection and diagnostic efficacy of chest radiographs for ≤30 mm pulmonary nodules and the factors affecting them, and to compare the level of consistency among readers. Methods: A total of 43 patients with asymptomatic pulmonary nodules who consulted in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 2012 to 2014 and had chest CT and X-ray chest radiographs during the same period were retrospectively selected, and one nodule ≤30 mm was visible on chest CT images in the whole group (total 43 nodules in the whole group). One senior radiologist with more than 20 years of experience in imaging diagnosis reviewed CT images and recording the size, morphology, location, and density of nodules was selected retrospectively. Six radiologists with different levels of experience (2 residents, 2 attending physicians and 2 associate chief physicians independently reviewed the chest images and recorded the time of review, nodule detection, and diagnostic opinion. The CT imaging characteristics of detected and undetected nodules on X images were compared, and the factors affecting the detection of nodules on X-ray images were analyzed. Detection sensitivity and diagnosis accuracy rate of 6 radiologists were calculated, and the level of consistency among them was compared to analyze the influence of radiologists' seniority and reading time on the diagnosis results. Results: The number of nodules detected by all 6 radiologists was 17, with a sensitivity of detection of 39.5%(17/43). The number of nodules detected by ≥5, ≥4, ≥3, ≥2, and ≥1 physicians was 20, 21, 23, 25, and 28 nodules, respectively, with detection sensitivities of 46.5%, 48.8%, 53.5%, 58.1%, and 65.1%, respectively. Reasons for false-negative result of detection on X-ray images included the size, location, density, and morphology of the nodule. The sensitivity of detecting ≤30 mm, ≤20 mm, ≤15 mm, and ≤10 mm nodules was 46.5%-58.1%, 45.9%-54.1%, 36.0%-44.0%, and 36.4% for the 6 radiologists, respectively; the diagnosis accuracy rate was 19.0%-85.0%, 16.7%-6.5%, 18.2%-80.0%, and 0%-75.0%, respectively. The consistency of nodule detection among 6 doctors was good (Kappa value: 0.629-0.907) and the consistency of diagnostic results among them was moderate or poor (Kappa value: 0.350-0.653). The higher the radiologist's seniority, the shorter the time required to read the images. The reading time and the seniority of the radiologists had no significant influence on the detection and diagnosis results (P>0.05). Conclusions: The ability of radiographs to detect lung nodules ≤30 mm is limited, and the ability to determine the nature of the nodules is not sufficient, and the increase in reading time and seniority of the radiologists will not improve the diagnostic accuracy. X-ray film exam alone is not suitable for lung cancer diagnosis.

Abstract
Malignant gliomas are largely refractory to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. To explore the underlying immune regulators, we examine the microenvironment in glioma and find that tumor-infiltrating T cells are mainly confined to the perivascular cuffs and express high levels of CCR5, CXCR3, and programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1). Combined analysis of T cell clustering with T cell receptor (TCR) clone expansion shows that potential tumor-killing T cells are mainly categorized into pre-exhausted/exhausted and effector CD8+ T subsets, as well as cytotoxic CD4+ T subsets. Notably, a distinct subpopulation of CD4+ T cells exhibits innate-like features with preferential interleukin-8 (IL-8) expression. With IL-8-humanized mouse strain, we demonstrate that IL-8-producing CD4+ T, myeloid, and tumor cells orchestrate myeloid-derived suppressor cell infiltration and angiogenesis, which results in enhanced tumor growth but reduced ICB efficacy. Antibody-mediated IL-8 blockade or the inhibition of its receptor, CXCR1/2, unleashes anti-PD-1-mediated antitumor immunity. Our findings thus highlight IL-8 as a combinational immunotherapy target for glioma.

Abstract
Taxon-specific small RNA loci are widespread in eukaryotic genomes, yet their role in lineage-specific adaptation, phenotypic diversification, and speciation is poorly understood. Here, we report that a speciation locus in monkeyflowers (Mimulus), YELLOW UPPER (YUP), contains an inverted repeat region that produces small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) in a phased pattern. Although the inverted repeat is derived from a partial duplication of a protein-coding gene that is not involved in flower pigmentation, one of the siRNAs targets and represses a master regulator of floral carotenoid pigmentation. YUP emerged with two protein-coding genes that control other aspects of flower coloration as a "superlocus" in a subclade of Mimulus and has contributed to subsequent phenotypic diversification and pollinator-mediated speciation in the descendant species.

Abstract
To overcome the disadvantage of high initial peak crush force (IPCF) in hierarchical and gradient structures, the hierarchical multicellular tubes (HMTs) with gradient character along axial and radial directions are proposed based on the bidirectional structural characters of bamboo stem. Crashworthiness performances of HMTs under oblique loads are systematically studied by using numerical simulation. Results show that compared with the square tube with the same mass, HMTs have higher energy absorption capability under different impact angles. The maximum increases of specific energy absorption (SEA) and crush force efficiency (CFE) reach up to 67.02% and 806%, respectively. Whereas, the maximum decrease of IPCF reaches up to 79.92%. Effects of structural parameters, including hierarchical level, wall thickness and internode space, on the crashworthiness performances of HMTs are also fully investigated.

Abstract
The ablative properties of epoxy-modified vinyl silicone rubber (EMVSR) composites containing hexaphenoxycyclotriphosphonitrile (HPCTP) have been systematically studied. The strength of the ablation char layer was greatly enhanced with the addition of HPCTP, which induced the formation of a more complete, denser, and thicker char during oxyacetylene ablation tests. Moreover, the HPCTP-containing EMVSR composites demonstrated lower thermal conductivity and pyrolysis rate when compared with those without HPTCP. At the same time, the thermal insulation properties of HPCTP-filled composites were improved under low heat flow ablation scenarios. The reduction of graphitic carbon content, the formation of phosphate-like crystals as well as the increase of SiC content contributed to strengthening the char layer, which was critical for improving the ablation properties. The optimum char layer strength and thermal insulation properties were achieved when the content of HPCTP was 15 phr, whereas an optimum ablation resistance was achieved at 25 phr HPCTP. This suggests that HPCTP-modified EMVSR composites can be used for thermal protection purposes, especially in the fields of aerospace and aeronautics.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the family rehabilitation model for children with scar contracture after hand burns and observe its efficacy. Methods: A retrospective non-randomized controlled study was conducted. From March 2020 to March 2021, 30 children with scar contracture after deep partial-thickness to full-thickness burns of hands, who met the inclusion criteria, were hospitalized in the Burn Center of PLA of the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. According to the rehabilitation model adopted, 18 children (23 affected hands) were included in a group mainly treated by family rehabilitation (hereinafter referred to as family rehabilitation group), and 12 children (15 affected hands) were included in another group mainly treated by hospital rehabilitation (hereinafter referred to as hospital rehabilitation group). In the former group, there were 11 males and 7 females, aged (4.8±2.1) years, who began rehabilitation treatment (3.1±0.8) d after wound healing; in the latter group, there were 7 males and 5 females, aged (4.6±2.1) years, who began rehabilitation treatment (2.8±0.7) d after wound healing. The children in hospital rehabilitation group mainly received active and passive rehabilitation training in the hospital, supplemented by independent rehabilitation training after returning home; after 1-2 weeks of active and passive rehabilitation training in the hospital, the children in family rehabilitation group received active and passive rehabilitation training at home under the guidance of rehabilitation therapists through WeChat platform. Both groups of children were treated for 6 months. During the treatment, they wore pressure gloves and used hand flexion training belts and finger splitting braces. Before treatment and after 6 months of treatment, the modified Vancouver scar scale, the total active movement of the hand method, and Carroll quantitative test of upper extremity function were used to score/rate the scar of the affected hand (with the difference of scar score between before treatment and after treatment being calculated), the joint range of motion (with excellent and good ratio being calculated), and the function of the affected limb, respectively. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, equivalence test, Fisher's exact probability test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The differences of scar scores of the affected hands of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group between after 6 months of treatment and those before treatment were 3.0 (2.0, 7.0) and 3.0 (2.0, 8.0) respectively (with 95% confidence interval of 2.37-5.38 and 1.95-5.91). The 95% confidence interval of the difference between the differences of the two groups was -2.43-2.21, which was within the equivalent boundary value of -3-3 (P<0.05). The excellent and good ratios of joint range of motion of the affected hand of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group were 3/23 and 2/15 respectively before treatment, and 15/23 and 12/15 respectively after 6 months of treatment. The ratings of joint range of motion of the affected hand of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group after 6 months of treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment (with Z values of 3.58 and 2.30, respectively, P<0.05), but the ratings of joint range of motion of the affected hand between the two groups were similar before treatment and after 6 months of treatment (with Z values of 0.39 and 0.55, respectively, P>0.05). The functional ratings of the affected limbs of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group after 6 months of treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment (with Z values of 3.98 and 3.51, respectively, P<0.05), but the functional ratings of the affected limbs between the two groups were similar before treatment and after 6 months of treatment (with Z values of 1.27 and 0.38, respectively, P>0.05). Conclusions: The WeChat platform assisted rehabilitation treatment with mainly family rehabilitation, combined with hand flexion and extension brace can effectively reduce the scarring after children's hand burns, improve the joint range of motion of the affected hands, and promote the recovery of affected limb function. The effect is similar to that of hospital-based rehabilitation providing an optional rehabilitation, treatment method for children who cannot continue to receive treatment in hospital.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the effect of progressive core muscle group training combined with lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training on burn patients with lower limb dysfunction. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From March 2017 to May 2020, 60 patients with motor and balance dysfunction after deep partial-thickness burns or full-thickness burns of both lower extremities who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University. They were divided into simple intelligent rehabilitation group (30 cases, 20 males and 10 females, aged (40±3) years) and combined rehabilitation group (30 cases, 16 males and 14 females, aged (39±3) years) according to the random number table method. The patients in both groups started red light treatment after the wound healing or when the scattered residual wound area was less than 5% total body surface area. After 2 weeks of red light treatment, patients in the combined rehabilitation group started progressive core muscle group training on the basis of lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training in simple intelligent rehabilitation group, and the training time was 6 weeks. Before and after 6 weeks of training, the lower limb motor function was evaluated with the simple Fugl-Meyer scale, the balance capacity was evaluated with the Berg balance scale, and the walking capacity was evaluated with the Holden walking ability rating scale. After 6 weeks of training, a self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate patients' satisfaction for the treatment effect. The patients were followed up for 6 months after the treatment to observe the balance stability of standing on one foot in the flexion position and their participation in activities of daily life. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, paired sample t test, and chi-square test. Results: Before training, the lower limb motor function score of patients in simple intelligent rehabilitation group was 24.9±2.7, which was close to 23.9±2.3 in combined rehabilitation group (P>0.05). After 6 weeks of training, the lower limb motor function score of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 29.6±3.9, which was significantly higher than 27.3±3.8 in simple rehabilitation group (t=-2.28, P<0.05). The lower limb motor function scores of patients in combined rehabilitation group and simple intelligent rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -6.50 and -3.21, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the balance capacity score of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 41±7, which was significantly higher than 36±5 in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (t=-2.68, P<0.05); the balance capacity scores of patients in combined rehabilitation group and simple intelligent rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -8.72 and -8.09, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the walking capacity grading of patients in combined rehabilitation group was significantly improved compared with that in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (χ2=-2.14, P<0.05), and the walking capacity grading of patients in simple intelligent rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training was significantly improved compared with that before treatment (with χ2 values of -4.94 and -5.26, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the satisfaction score for the treatment effect of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 13.7±1.2, which was significantly higher than 7.8±1.4 in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (t=22.84, P<0.01). The patients in both groups could stand on one foot to maintain balance in the flexion position of lower limb, and their activities of daily life were not affected 6 months after treatment. Conclusions: On the basis of conventional rehabilitation therapy, the combination of progressive core muscle group training and lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training can significantly promote the recovery of lower limb motor and balance function of burn patients.

Abstract
RAS-activating protein-like 3 (RASAL3) is a synaptic Ras GTPase-activating protein (SynGAP) and a potential novel biomarker of CD8+ T cell infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). This study explored RASAL3 expression in LUAD, the prognostic impact of RASAL3 and the relationship with immune cell infiltration. RASAL3 expression in LUAD tissues was considerably low, with high RASAL3 expression associated with better overall survival, whereas the low expression was linked to advanced T, N, M classifications, TNM stage and lower grade. Furthermore, RASAL3 expression positively correlated with CD8+ T lymphocyte infiltration. In conclusion, RASAL3 expression is a potential prognostic and immunological biomarker of LUAD.

Abstract
Steady adhesion under varying humidity conditions is fundamentally challenging due to the barrier of interfacial water molecules. Here, we demonstrate a humidity-resistant gecko-inspired microfibrillar adhesive fabricated by using a specific phenyl-rich polysiloxane. In contrast with the great decline of macroadhesion with increasing humidity for the typical polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microfibrillar adhesives, strong macroadhesion of a microfibrillar adhesive fabricated using synthetic phenyl-rich polysiloxane maintains adhesion well across a wide relative humidity range (1% to 95%). Moreover, the pull-off strength is increased by 500% compared to that of phenyl-absent PDMS microfibrillar adhesives at extremely high humidity. Mechanism analysis demonstrates that the synergistic interplay of strong interfacial hydrophobicity leading to dry contact and bulk energy dissipation through massive aromatic π-π interactions contributes greatly to the reliable and strong humidity macroadhesion. The present results provide a better understanding of humidity macroadhesion as well as application potential for microfibrillar adhesives, which are proven to be reliable skin adhesive patches for long-term health-care that have to be exposed to varying humidity conditions of the skin surface.

Abstract
This article addresses an adaptive neural network (NN) constraint control scheme for a class of fractional-order uncertain nonlinear nonstrict-feedback systems with full-state constraints and input saturation. The radial basis function (RBF) NNs are used to deal with the algebraic loop problem from the nonstrict-feedback formation based on the approximation structure. In order to overcome the problem of input saturation nonlinearity, a smooth nonaffine function is applied to approach the saturation function. To arrest the violation of full-state constraints, the barrier Lyapunov function (BLF) is introduced in each step of the backstepping procedure. By using the fractional-order Lyapunov stability theory and the given conditions, it proves that all the states remain in their constraint bounds, the tracking error converges to a bounded compact set containing the origin, and all signals in the closed-loop system are ensured to be bounded. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified by two simulation examples.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
The relationship between systolic blood pressure (SBP) control and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy remains unclear. It has been previously reported that either too high or too low SBP may lead to a poorer prognosis. But current SBP control metrics may not take into account the possible effects of fluctuating SBP overtime on patients.
Purpose
This study aimed to estimate the association between time in range (TIR) of SBP and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.
Methods
This study was a post-hoc analysis of The Surgical Treatment of Ischaemic Heart Failure (STICH) trial, a randomized controlled trial with two hypotheses that enrolled participants with coronary artery disease and left ventricular ejection fraction ≤35%. The SBP target range of the TIR was defined as 110 to 130 mmHg and the SBP TIR was calculated by linear interpolation method. Patients were equally divided into four groups by quartiles of TIR. Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression models were constructed to compare the effects of different levels of TIR on a 10-year prognosis. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality. Subgroup analyses were performed according to whether patients were assigned to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or medical therapy (MED), and in populations with different baseline SBP.
Results
A total of 1194 eligible patients were included according to the purpose of our study. Compared with patients in the quartile 4 group (TIR 77.87–100%), the fully adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of all-cause mortality were 1.32 (0.98–1.78) for quartile 3 group (TIR 54.81–77.63%), 1.40 (1.03–1.90) for quartile 2 group (TIR 32.59–54.67%), and 1.53 (1.14–2.04) for quartile 1 group (TIR 0–32.56%) (P for trend = 0.005). When evaluated TIR as a continuous variable, per 1-SD decrement (29.28%) in TIR significantly increased the incidence of all-cause mortality [1.15 (1.04–1.26)]. Similarly, the decrement in TIR significantly elevated the risk of cardiovascular (CV) mortality and the risk of all-cause mortality plus CV rehospitalization. Consistent results were also observed in subgroup analyses of either CABG or MED, or different baseline SBP, indicating the robustness of our findings.
Conclusions
This study suggested that in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy, a higher SBP TIR was significantly associated with a decreased risk of all-cause mortality, CV mortality and the composite of all-cause mortality plus CV rehospitalization, regardless of whether the patient received CABG or MED, and the level of baseline SBP. Our findings support that TIR might be a substitutable metric of SBP control for long-term clinical outcomes in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.

Abstract
Background
The Surgical Treatment of Ischemic Heart Failure (STICH) trial demonstrated that coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) provides additional survival benefits to patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. However, it remains unclear whether this benefit is affected by preoperative right ventricular (RV) function and how post-therapeutic evolution of RV function influences long-term outcomes.
Purpose
We sought to investigate the implications of baseline RV function on therapeutic decision-making in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, and to evaluate the prognostic implications of post-therapeutic evolution of RV function.
Methods
Patients with available baseline echocardiographic RV function assessed by experienced Echocardiography Core Laboratory physicians were included from the hypothesis 1 of the STICH trial. The primary outcome was long-term all-cause mortality.
Results
A total of 1042 patients were included, among them 757 (72.7%) had normal RV function, 143 (13.7%) mild right ventricular dysfunction (RVD), and 142 (13.6%) moderate to severe RVD. After a median follow-up of 9.8 years, patients with RVD had a higher risk of all-cause mortality compared with patients with normal RV function [mild RVD: adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) 1.32; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.06–1.64; moderate to severe RVD: aHR, 1.74; 95% CI 1.39–2.18]. Although no significant interaction was detected between RVD degree and treatment allocation (P for interaction = 0.399), a gradually decreasing survival benefit associated with CABG was observed among patients with normal RV function (aHR: 0.79; 95% CI: 0.65–0.96), mild RVD (aHR: 0.85; 95% CI: 0.56–1.29), and moderate to severe RVD (aHR: 0.97; 95% CI: 0.67–1.43). Among 746 patients with available RV function assessed at baseline and post-therapeutic 4-month follow-up, there was a gradient of increasing risk for all-cause mortality across patients with consistent normal RV function, recovery of RVD (aHR: 1.20; 95% CI: 0.88–1.64), newly developed RVD (aHR: 1.59; 95% CI: 1.18–2.14), and consistent RVD (aHR: 2.06; 95% CI: 1.60–2.67). Independent predictors of RVD recovery included baseline left ventricular ejection fraction (per 1-percent increment, adjusted odds ratio: 1.04; 95% CI: 1.00–1.09) and mitral regurgitation ≥ grade 2 (adjusted odds ratio: 0.42; 95% CI: 0.21–0.84).
Conclusions
Baseline RVD was associated with an increased risk of long-term mortality in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, and adding CABG to medical therapy might provide limited survival benefits in patients with moderate to severe RVD. A gradient of increasing risk for mortality was observed across different categories of RV function evolution, which emphasizes the necessity of pre- and post-therapeutic RV assessment for prognostic evaluation.

Abstract
Phenotypic evolution is usually attributed to changes in protein function or gene transcription. In principle, mutations that affect protein abundance through enhancing or attenuating protein translation also could be an important source for phenotypic evolution. However, these types of mutations remain largely unexplored in the studies of phenotypic variation in nature. Through fine-scale genetic mapping and functional interrogation, we identify a single nucleotide substitution in an anthocyanin-activating R2R3-MYB gene causing flower color variation between a pair of closely related monkeyflower (Mimulus) species, the hummingbird-pollinated Mimulus cardinalis, and self-pollinated Mimulus parishii. This causal mutation is located in the 5' untranslated region and generates an upstream ATG start codon, leading to attenuated protein translation and reduced flower coloration in the self-pollinated species. Together, our results provide empirical support for the role of mutations affecting protein translation, as opposed to protein function or transcript level, in natural phenotypic variation.

Abstract
Autophagy is a highly conserved process that is vital for tumor progression and treatment response. Although autophagy is proposed to maintain the stemness phenotype in adult diffuse glioma, the molecular basis of the link between autophagy and stemness is poorly understood, which makes it impossible to effectively screen for the population that will benefit from autophagy-targeted treatment. Here, ATG9B as essential for self-renewal capacity and tumor-propagation potential is identified. Notably, ASCL2 transcriptionally regulates the expression of ATG9B to maintain stemness properties. The ASCL2-ATG9B axis is an independent prognostic biomarker and indicator of autophagic activity. Furthermore, the highly effective blood-brain barrier (BBB)-permeable autophagy inhibitor ROC-325, which can significantly inhibit the progression of ASCL2-ATG9B axisHigh gliomas as a single agent is investigated. These data demonstrate that a new ASCL2-ATG9B signaling axis is crucial for maintaining the stemness phenotype and tumor progression, revealing a potential autophagy inhibition strategy for adult diffuse gliomas.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) assisted with submental mini-incision in early thyroid papillary carcinoma. Methods: A total of 63 patients with early papillary thyroid carcinoma (cT1N0M0) were included who underwent TOETVA from December 2019 to May 2021 in Department of Thyroid Surgery of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University. There were 4 males and 59 females, aged from 17 to 46 years old. Of those 36 patients received traditional TOETVA as control and 27 patients accepted modified TOETVA assisted with submental mini-incision. The clinical outcomes of patients in two groups were compared. Chi-square test and t test were used in statistical analyses. Results: Compared to control group, modified TOETVA group had the less mean operation time [(146.63±38.62) minutes vs. (167.78±36.71) minutes, t=-2.21, P=0.031], the shorter time required for returning to normal diet after operation [(2.11±0.89) days vs. (2.72±1.16) days, t=-2.28, P=0.026], and the lower probability of mandibular numbness (0 vs. 16.67%, χ2=4.97, P=0.026). There was no significant difference between two groups in intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage volume, number of central lymph nodes dissection, and postoperative complications such as gas embolism, postoperative bleeding, postoperative infection, skin burns, subcutaneous effusion and so on(all P>0.05). After 6 months of operation, the thyroid ultrasound of the patients in two groups showed no recurrence, and the patients were satisfied with their surgical incision appearances. Conclusion: Both the modified and traditional TOETVA show similar efficacies for treatments of early thyroid papillary carcinoma, but the modified TOETVA can reduce the operation time and improve the quality of life.
