Abstract
Excessive phosphorus (P) in eutrophic water induces cyanobacterial blooms that aggravate the burden of in-situ remediation measures. In order to ensure better ecological recovery, Flock & Lock technique has been developed to simultaneously sink cyanobacteria and immobilize P but requires a combination of flocculent and P inactivation agent. Here we synthesized a novel lanthanum-modified pyroaurite (LMP), as an alternative for Flock & Lock of cyanobacteria and phosphorus at the background of rich humic acid and suspended solids. LMP shows a P adsorption capacity of 36.0 mg/g and nearly 100 % removal of chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), turbidity, UV254 and P at a dosage (0.3 g/L) much lower than the commercial analogue (0.5 g/L). The resultant sediment (98.2 % as immobile P) exhibits sound stability without observable release of P or re-growth of cyanobacteria over a 50-day incubation period. The use of LMP also constrains the release of toxic microcystins to 1.4 μg/L from the sunk cyanobacterial cells, outperforming the commonly used polyaluminum chloride (PAC). Similar Flock & Lock efficiency could also be achieved in real eutrophic water. The outstanding Flock & Lock performance of LMP is attributable to the designed La modification. During LMP treatment, La acts as not only a P binder by formation of LaPO4, but also a coagulant to create a synergistic effect with pyroaurite. The controlled hydrolysis of surface La(III) over pyroaurite aided the possible formation of La(III)-pyroaurite networking structure, which significantly enhanced the Flock & Lock process through adsorption, charge neutralization, sweep flocculation and entrapment. In the end, the preliminary economic analysis is performed. The results demonstrate that LMP is a versatile and cost-effective agent for in-situ remediation of eutrophic waters.

Abstract
Iron (Fe) is a crucial microelement for humans, animals, and plants. Insufficient Fe levels in plants impede growth and diminish photosynthesis, thus decreasing crop production. Notably, approximately one-third of the soil worldwide is alkaline and prone to Fe deficiency. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms underlying Fe absorption and transportation in plants can enhance Fe bioavailability in crops. In this study, the role of the transcription factor MYB8 in plant response to Fe deficiency in Arabidopsis was investigated via reverse genetics. Phenotype analysis revealed that the functional deletion mutant of MYB8 gene exhibited sensitivity to Fe deficiency stress, as indicated by shorter root length, lower chlorophyll content, and Fe concentration. Conversely, MYB8 overexpression strain showed a tolerant phenotype. Furthermore, qRT-PCR identified possible downstream MYB8-regulated genes. Moreover, MYB8 regulated the expression of iron-regulated transporter 1 (IRT1) by binding to the MYB binding sites motif ('AACAAAC') in its promoter.

Abstract
Individuals frequently encounter dilemmas in which they must choose between smaller, immediate gains and larger, delayed rewards; this phenomenon is known as intertemporal choice. The present study analyzed the interplay of trait and state self-control and time perception tendencies (time overestimation vs. time underestimation) and how it influences the rates of selecting immediate options in both gain and loss situations by conducting an intertemporal choice task. Experiment 1 was used to explore the impact of trait self-control and time perception on intertemporal choices within gain and loss situations. In Experiment 2, the e-crossing task was used to induce self-control resource depletion in participants and to investigate the impact of self-control resources and time perception on intertemporal choices in gain and loss situations. The results indicate that (1) compared with the high-self-control group, the low-self-control group exhibited a greater tendency to choose immediate options. Additionally, the high time estimation group was more likely to opt for immediate choices than the low time estimation group was. Furthermore, participants were more likely to select immediate options in the loss situation than in the gain situation. (2) In the gain situation, the high time estimation group was more likely to choose immediate options than was the low time estimation group. However, in the loss situation, the difference between the two groups was nonsignificant. (3) Time perception and gain-loss situations exerted a moderating mediating effect on the impact of self-control resources on intertemporal choices. These findings shed light on the influence of both self-control abilities and self-control resources on intertemporal choices. They provide valuable insights into intertemporal decision behaviors across diverse contexts and indicate the need for rational analysis based on one's current state to mitigate cognitive biases to ensure individuals can maximize benefits in their daily lives.

Abstract
Ultrasound (US) has traditionally been recognised for its imaging capabilities, but its emerging role as a therapeutic modality in postoperative wound management, especially in paediatric care, has garnered significant attention. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the influence of US on postoperative wound healing and infection rates in paediatric patients. From an initial pool of 1236 articles, seven were deemed suitable for inclusion. Postoperative wound healing was assessed using the Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, and Approximation (REEDA) scale. Notably, there was a significant difference in wound healing patterns between the US-treated and control groups (I2 = 94%, standardized mean difference [SMD]: -4.60, 95% confidence intervals [CIs]: -6.32 to -2.88, p < 0.01), as illustrated in Figure 4. Additionally, a marked difference in wound infection rates was observed between the groups (I2 = 93%, SMD: -5.86, 95% CIs: -9.04 to -2.68, p < 0.01), as portrayed in Figure 5. The findings underscore the potential benefits of US in enhancing postoperative wound healing and reducing infection rates in paediatric surgical settings. However, the application of US should be judicious, considering the nuances of individual patient needs and clinical contexts.

Abstract
The tumor heterogeneity, which leads to individual variations in tumor microenvironments, causes poor prognoses and limits therapeutic response. Emerging technology such as companion diagnostics (CDx) detects biomarkers and monitors therapeutic responses, allowing identification of patients who would benefit most from treatment. However, currently, most US Food and Drug Administration-approved CDx tests are designed to detect biomarkers in vitro and ex vivo, making it difficult to dynamically report variations of targets in vivo. Various medical imaging techniques offer dynamic measurement of tumor heterogeneity and treatment response, complementing CDx tests. Imaging-based companion diagnostics allow for patient stratification for targeted medicines and identification of patient populations benefiting from alternative therapeutic methods. This review summarizes recent developments in molecular imaging for predicting and assessing responses to cancer therapies, as well as the various biomarkers used in imaging-based CDx tests. We hope this review provides informative insights into imaging-based companion diagnostics and advances precision medicine.

Abstract
Ferroptosis, as a type of programmed cell death process, enables effective damage to various cancer cells. However, we discovered that persistent oxidative stress during ferroptosis can upregulate the apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) protein that induces therapeutic resistance ("ferroptosis resistance"), resulting in an unsatisfactory treatment outcome. To address APE1-induced therapeutic resistance, we developed a GSH/APE1 cascade activated therapeutic nanoplatform (GAN). Specifically, the GAN is self-assembled by DNA-functionalized ultrasmall iron oxide nanoparticles and further loaded with drug molecules (drug-GAN). GSH-triggered GAN disassembly can "turn on" the catalysis of GAN to induce efficient lipid peroxidation (LPO) for ferroptosis toward the tumor, which could upregulate APE1 expression. Subsequently, upregulated APE1 can further trigger accurate drug release for overcoming ferroptosis resistance and inducing the recovery of near-infrared fluorescence for imaging the dynamics of APE1. Importantly, adaptive drug release can overcome the adverse effects of APE1 upregulation by boosting intracellular ROS yield and increasing DNA damage, to offset APE1's functions of antioxidant and DNA repair, thus leading to adaptive ferroptosis. Moreover, with overexpressed GSH and upregulated APE1 in the tumor as stimuli, the therapeutic specificity of ferroptosis toward the tumor is greatly improved, which minimized nonspecific activation of catalysis and excessive drug release in normal tissues. Furthermore, a switchable MRI contrast from negative to positive is in sync with ferroptosis activation, which is beneficial for monitoring the ferroptosis process. Therefore, this adapted imaging and therapeutic nanoplatform can not only deliver GSH/APE1-activated lipid peroxide mediated adaptive synergistic therapy but also provided a switchable MRI/dual-channel fluorescence signal for monitoring ferroptosis activation, drug release, and therapy resistance dynamics in vivo, leading to high-specificity and high-efficiency adaptive ferroptosis therapy.

Abstract
Soliton molecule has the properties that similar to those of matter molecule, which brings great research value. The rich dynamics of soliton molecules depend on the complex interactions between pulses. As one of the important factors, gain dynamics has multi-dimensional effects on the interactions of soliton molecules. We here study the interaction process of soliton molecules under gain perturbation, and find the oscillation and collision behaviors of pulses within soliton molecules induced by gain perturbation, as well as the pulses recombination through interactions between soliton molecules. We believe that the energy change in the cavity and the energy transfer based on the continuous wave component play an important role in the evolution process of the dissociation of soliton molecules into three-pulses bunch and single pulse. These findings reveal the effects of gain on the motion of soliton molecules and provide a basis for exploring the control dynamics of soliton molecules.

Abstract
Organization of protein sequences into domain families is a foundation for cataloging and investigating protein functions. However, long-standing strategies based on primary amino acid sequences are blind to the possibility that proteins with dissimilar sequences could have comparable tertiary structures. Building on our recent findings that in silico structural predictions of BEN family DNA-binding domains closely resemble their experimentally determined crystal structures, we exploited the AlphaFold2 database for comprehensive identification of BEN domains. Indeed, we identified numerous novel BEN domains, including members of new subfamilies. For example, while no BEN domain factors had previously been annotated in C. elegans, this species actually encodes multiple BEN proteins. These include key developmental timing genes of orphan domain status, sel-7 and lin-14, the latter being the central target of the founding miRNA lin-4. We also reveal that the domain of unknown function 4806 (DUF4806), which is widely distributed across metazoans, is structurally similar to BEN and comprises a new subtype. Surprisingly, we find that BEN domains resemble both metazoan and non-metazoan homeodomains in 3D conformation and preserve characteristic residues, indicating that despite their inability to be aligned by conventional methods, these DNA-binding modules are probably evolutionarily related. Finally, we broaden the application of structural homology searches by revealing novel human members of DUF3504, which exists on diverse proteins with presumed or known nuclear functions. Overall, our work strongly expands this recently identified family of transcription factors and illustrates the value of 3D structural predictions to annotate protein domains and interpret their functions.

Abstract
For the first time, to the best of our knowledge, we experimentally demonstrate a high-speed free-space secure optical communication system based on all-optical chaos modulation. The effect of atmospheric turbulence on optical chaos synchronization is experimentally investigated via a hot air convection atmospheric turbulence simulator. It is shown that, even under moderately strong turbulent conditions, high-quality chaos synchronization could be obtained by increasing the transmission power. Moreover, a secure encryption transmission experiment using a high bias current induced chaotic carrier for 8-Gbit/s on-off-keying data over a ∼10-m free-space optical link is successfully demonstrated, with a bit-error rate below the FEC threshold of 3.8 × 10-3. This work favorably shows the feasibility of optical chaotic encryption for the free-space optical transmission system.

Abstract
Targeting sustainable and eco-friendly polymer synthesis, we demonstrate here a synergistically catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) induced and controlled by interplay between ball milling (BM) and piezoelectric nanoparticles (piezoNPs). BM-induced electron transfer can be achieved through piezoNPs deformation under impact force, serving as an external stimulus to mediate polymerization. The ppm level of copper loading is sufficient in fabrication of a polymer with well-defined molecular weight and low polydispersity. High-molecular-weight polymers ranging from 33 to 74 kDa were prepared successfully through DMSO-assisted grinding. Besides, its good performance on availability of water as liquid-assisted grinding additive, the recyclability of piezoNPs, and the formation of cross-linker-free composite resin make our ATRP approach a green and practical option alongside the existent heat-, electro-, and photo-induced methods.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the prognosis and risk factors of lung metastasis of patients with adenoid cystic carcinoma(ACC) of head and neck. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted. The data of 157 patients with ACC of head and neck treated in Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2014 to October 2020 were collected, including 72 males and 85 females, with onset age between 14 and 72 years old. According to whether lung metastasis occurred, the patients were divided into lung metastasis group (88 cases) and non-pulmonary metastasis group (69 cases). Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the overall survival rate and progression-free survival rate using SPSS 26.0 software. Log-rank test was used to evaluate statistically relevant clinicopathological factors. Cox proportional risk model was used in multivariate analysis for the factors affecting the lung metastasis-free survival using R Studio 1.2.5042. Results: The 3-year and 5-year overall survival rates were 91.5% and 85.2%, respectively. The 3-year and 5-year progression-free survival rates were 57.7% and 34.3%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that primary site, histological grade, high-grade transformation, Ki-67, T stage, and lymph node status were the risk factors for lung metastasis (χ2=11.78, 10.41, 4.06, 4.71, 5.37, 16.20, respectively, all P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed independent risk factors for lung metastasis, including submandibular gland and sublingual gland (HR=3.53, 95%CI: 1.19-10.46, P<0.05), T3-4 stage (HR=3.09, 95%CI: 1.54-6.23, P<0.05), and Grade Ⅱ-Ⅲ grade (HR=2.47, 95%CI: 1.26-4.86,P<0.05). Conclusion: Distant metastasis, mainly pulmonary metastasis, affects the long-term prognosis of patients with ACC significantly. Primary site, T stage and histopathological grade can be used as the predictors for the risk of lung metastasis.

Abstract
Objective Anxiety and depression are great public health concerns among college students. The purpose of this study was to explore whether sleep quality and quality of life (QoL) play mediating roles in anxiety and depression among Chinese college students. Method A total of 2757 college students (mean age = 19.07; SD = 1.14) completed the questionnaires, including a brief demographic survey. The 2-item General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-2) and the 2-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-2) were used to assess the symptoms of anxiety and depression, respectively. And the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) were used to evaluate college students’ sleep quality and QoL, respectively. Mediation analyses were conducted by using PROCESS macro in the SPSS software. Result Anxiety had both direct and indirect effects on depression. Sleep quality and QoL were not only independent mediators in the relationship between anxiety and depression but also chain mediators. Conclusion The results of the current study highlight the crucial role of early intervention for depression with a focus on college students with anxiety, more especially, on those with poorer sleep quality and lower QoL.

Abstract
Background CARs are engineered receptors comprising an immunoglobulin single‐chain variable fragment (scFv) that identifies and binds to the target antigen, a transmembrane domain, and an intracellular T‐cell signaling domain. CD19 is a B lineage‐specific transmembrane glycoprotein and is expressed in more than 95% of B‐cell malignancies. Streptavidin (SA) is a homo‐tetrameric protein derived from Streptomyces avidinii, which can bind four biotin molecules with an extremely high affinity at a Kd value of 10‐15 M. Aims The aim of the study is to generate a novel soluble multimeric fusion protein, sCD19‐streptavidin (sCD19‐SA) for functional detection and selective expansion of CD19‐targeted CAR‐T cells. Methods The fusion proteins CD19‐SA was expressed in CHO cells and purified by use of Ni‐nitrilotriacetic acid agarose beads. Results A novel fusion protein (sCD19‐SA) was generated, consisting of the extracellular domain of human CD19 and the core region of SA, and could be used to functionally detect CD19‐targeted CAR‐T cells. Furthermore, this protein was demonstrated to form multimers to activate CAR‐T cells to induce their selective expansion. Importantly, sCD19‐SA‐stimulated CD19‐targeted CAR‐T cells could improve antitumor effects in vivo. Conclusions Our study has highlighted the potential of utilizing antigen‐SA fusion proteins such as sCD19‐SA for CAR‐T therapy for the functional detection of CAR expression and selective expansion of CAR‐T cells.

Abstract
Photoinduced atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) has been proved to be a versatile technique for polymer network formation. However, the slow polymerization rates of typical ATRP limited its application in the field of additive manufacturing (3D printing). In this work, we introduced carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for the first time to the ATRP in aqueous media and developed an ultrafast visible-light-induced polymerization system. After optimization, the polymerization could achieve a high monomer conversion (>90%) within 1 min, and the polydispersity index (PDI) of the polymer was lower than 1.25. This system was then applied as the first example of ATRP for the 3D printing of hydrogel through digital light processing (DLP), and the printed object exhibited good dimensional accuracy. Additionally, the excellent and stable optical properties of CQDs also provided interesting photoluminescence capabilities to the printed objects. We deduce this ATRP mediated 3D printing process would provide a new platform for the preparation of functional and stimuli-responsive hydrogel materials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the circadian rhythm of sleep-wake and its relationship with anxiety and depression among medical students. METHODS A stratified cluster random sampling method was adopted in this study, 2231 medical students in grades 1 to 3 from a medical college in Wuhu City(1004 boys and 1227 girls, aged(19.09±1.13) years) were selected in November 2020. The sleep wake circadian chronotype and mental health of medical students were evaluated by the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire 19(MEQ-19), the Patient Health Questionnaire 2(PHQ-2), and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale(GAD-2), respectively. RESULTS The detection rates of evening chronotype, intermediate circadian chronotype, and morning chronotype were 59.84%(n=1335), 37.92%(n=846), and 2.24%(n=50), respectively. The detection rates of anxiety, depression, and anxiety combined with depression were 12.86%(n=287), 14.12%(n=315), and 9.59%(n=214), respectively. After adjusting for gender, age, grade, class performance in the last half semester, and learning burden, the result of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that compared with medical students with intermediate circadian chronotype, medical students with evening chronotype were more likely to have anxiety(OR_(adj. )=1.403, 95% CI 1.066-1.846, P=0.016) and depression(OR_(adj. )=1.639, 95% CI 1.251-2.146, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The detection rate of anxiety and depression in medical students is high. The circadian chronotype of medical students is mainly evening chronotype, which is a risk factor affecting anxiety and depression among medical students.

Abstract
Dissipative systems form various self-organized states owing to the abundant attractor structures. The study of the response of different self-organized states under collision perturbation is of great significance for understanding the dissipative nonlinear systems. The collision dynamics of single soliton and soliton molecules can not only assist the stability analysis of attractors, but also reveal the rich physical connotations of soliton interactions. Here, for the first time, the collision processes of single soliton and soliton molecules in different excited states are detected using the dispersive Fourier transform technology. The collision processes include the disintegration and rebuilding of soliton molecules as well as chaotic oscillating evolution, accompanied by the emergence of transition states such as triple binding state, soliton fusion and acceleration. According to whether the soliton molecule can return to its initial excited state, the collisions are classified as elastic and inelastic. The different interaction strength between solitons is an important condition for rebuilding stable soliton molecules. Numerical simulations show that the gain dynamics are the main physical origin of collisions. Our research will stimulate in-depth research on the interaction of self-organized states in nonlinear systems such as chemical molecules, and have potential applications in optical logic gates.

Abstract
(1) Background: pancreatic cancer is one of the most serious cancers due to its rapid and inevitable fatality, which has been proved very difficult to treat, compared with many other common cancers. Thus, developing an effective therapeutic strategy, especially searching for potential drugs, is the focus of current research. The exact mechanism of rutin in pancreatic cancer remains unknown. (2) Method: three pancreatic cancer cell lines were used to study the anti-pancreatic cancer effect of rutin. The potent anti-proliferative, anti-migration and pro-apoptotic properties of rutin were uncovered by cell viability, a wound-healing migration assay, and a cell apoptosis assay. High-throughput sequencing technology was used to detect the change of miRNAs expression. Immunoblotting analysis was used to detect the expression of apoptotic proteins. (3) Results: CCK-8 and EDU assays revealed that rutin significantly inhibited pancreatic cancer cells’ proliferation (p < 0.05). A wound-healing assay showed that rutin significantly suppressed pancreatic cancer cells’ migration (p < 0.05). A flow cytometric assay showed that rutin could promote pancreatic cancer cells’ apoptosis. Intriguingly, rutin significantly upregulated miR-877-3p expression to repress the transcription of Bcl-2 and to induce pancreatic cancer cell apoptosis. Accordingly, rutin and miR-877-3p mimics could promote apoptotic protein expression. (4) Conclusions: our findings indicate that rutin plays an important role in anti-pancreatic cancer effects through a rutin-miR-877-3p-Bcl-2 axis and suggests a potential therapeutic strategy for pancreatic cancer.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the roles of G Protein-Coupled Receptor 68 (GPR68) and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in TPF-(paclitaxel, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil) induced chemotherapy for middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. Methods: A total of 31 patients with middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma before TPF-inducted chemotherapy were enrolled from September 2012 to November 2017 in Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, including 28 males and 3 females, aged 43 to 71 years old. The expression of GPR68 and tumor infiltrating CD4+and CD8+T cells before chemotherapy was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and the relationships between GPR68 expression and clinical features, chemotherapy efficacy and overall survival (OS) were analyzed using t-test. Results: After 3 cycles of chemotherapy, there were 4, 14, 10 and 3 patients respectively with complete response (CR), partial response (PR), stable disease (SD) and progressive disease (PD). The positive rates of GPR68 and CD8 were 25% and 40% respectively in the effective group (CR+PR), while 50% and 15% in the ineffective group (SD+PD), with statistically significant differences between two groups (t=5.17 and 12.86,P<0.001). Linear regression analysis showed that GPR68 was negatively correlated with CD8+T cells (r=-0.64,P<0.001). There was no significant correlation between the CD4 expression and TPF efficacy (P>0.05). The mean OS was 12.5 months in patients with high-expressed GPR68 and 25.0 months in patients with low-expressed GPR68, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.005). And mean OS was 25.0 months in patients with high-expressed CD8 and 14.5 months in low-expressed CD8, with a statistically significant difference (HR=2.58, P=0.019). Cox regression analysis showed that GPR68 and CD8+T cells were significant prognostic factors (OR(95%CI)=3.27(2.46-5.97) and 1.53(0.78-1.82), all P<0.05), while CD4 had no significant effect on prognosis (P>0.05). Conclusion: GPR68 and CD8+T cells are expected to be biomarkers for evaluating the efficacy and prognosis of TPF-induced chemotherapy in patients with middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have wide pharmacological activities, and the ingredients in individual TCMs determine their efficacies. To understand the "efficacy-nature-structure" relationship of TCM, compounds from 2444 kinds of herbs were collected, and the associations between family, structure, nature, and biological activities were mined and analyzed. Bernoulli Naïve Bayes profiling and a data analysis method were used to predict the targets of compounds. The results show that genetic material determined the representation of ingredients from herbs and the nature of TCMs and that the superior scaffolds of compounds of cold nature were 2-phenylochrotinone, anthraquinone, and coumarin, while the compounds of hot nature were cyclohexene. The results of the similarity analysis and distribution for molecular descriptors of compounds show that compounds associated with the same nature were similar and compounds associated with different natures occurred as a transition in part. As for integral compounds from 2-phenylochrotinone, anthraquinone, coumarin, and cyclohexene, the value of the shape index increased, indicating the transition of scaffolds from a spherical structure to a linear structure, with various molecular descriptors decreasing. Three medicines and three recipes prescribed based on "efficacy-nature-structure" had a higher survival rate in the clinic and provided powerful evidence for TCM principles. The research improves the understanding of the "efficacy-nature-structure" relationship and extends TCM applications.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. As the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths worldwide continues to increase rapidly, the prevention and control of COVID-19 remains urgent. This article aims to analyze COVID-19 from a geographical perspective, and this information can provide useful insights for rapid visualization of spatial-temporal epidemic information and identification of the factors important to the spread of COVID-19. A new type of vitalization method, called the point grid map, is integrated with calendar-based visualization to show the spatial-temporal variations in COVID-19. The combination of mixed geographically weighted regression (mixed GWR) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) is used to identify the potential factors and the corresponding importance. The visualization results clearly reflect the spatial-temporal patterns of COVID-19. The quantified results reveal that the impact of population outflow from Wuhan is the most important factor and indicate statistically significant spatial heterogeneity. Our results provide insights into how multisource big geodata can be employed within the framework of integrating visualization and analytical methods to characterize COVID-19 trends. In addition, this work can help understand the influential factors for controlling and preventing epidemics, which is important for policy design and effective decision-making for controlling COVID-19. The results reveal that one of the most effective ways to control COVID-19 include controlling the source of infection, cutting off the transmission route, and protecting vulnerable groups.

Abstract
In passively mode-locked fiber lasers (PMLFLs), the dissipative solitons (DSs) can self-organize to form complex structures through delicate interactions. However, it is still elusive to control these soliton structures by external influences. We here find that at a certain critical power, the location between two soliton molecules can be controlled by a slow modulated pump power. After applying the pump power with periodic fluctuation, two soliton molecules oscillate from the state of soliton molecular complex to stable distribution with maximum inter-molecular separation. During this process, the internal structure of each soliton molecule keeps steady. The slow gain depletion and recovery mechanism which plays a dominant role affects the motion of soliton molecules. These results could further expand the molecular analogy of spectroscopy and stimulate the development of optical information storage and processing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ischemic-type biliary lesions (ITBL) are accepted as the most incomprehensible biliary complications after living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT). Early predicting the development of ITBL in pediatric patients permits more preventive strategies. However, few studies have focused on the early prediction of ITBL. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to establish a nomogram including ultrasound-based multimodal imaging to predict ITBL in children with biliary atresia (BA) within 2 years after receiving LDLT. METHODS The records of 94 BA children with at least one year of follow-up after LDLT were reviewed retrospectively. They were randomly divided into a training cohort for constructing a nomogram (n=64) and a validation cohort (n=30). In the training cohort, patients diagnosed as ITBL were included in the ITBL group and those without any vascular and biliary complication were included in the non-ITBL group. Multivariate Cox regression was used for the establishment of the nomogram in predicting the risk of ITBL within 2 years post-LDLT. The discrimination and calibration of the nomogram were internally and externally validated. The performances of the nomogram and the individual components were compared by the area under the curve (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. RESULTS In the training cohort, 18 BA children were included in the ITBL group and 46 were in the non-ITBL group. Last pediatric end-stage liver disease (PELD) score, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), resistive index (RI), and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) were the independent predictors for the development of ITBL within 2 years post-LDLT. The nomogram incorporating these independent predictors showed good discrimination and calibration by the internal and external validation. Its performance was better than any individual component in predicting the prognosis (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The established nomogram may be used to predict the risk of ITBL within 2 years post-LDLT in BA children.

Abstract
The traditional low-alcoholic beverages, such as grape wine, sake, and rice wine, have been consumed all over the world for thousands of years, each with their unique methods of production that have been practiced for centuries. Moderate consumption of wine is generally touted as beneficial for health, although there is ongoing debate for the responsible components in wine. In this review, the structural and functional characteristics, the formation mechanisms, and their health-promoting activities of peptides in three brewed wines, grape wine, Chinese rice wine (also called Chinese Huangjiu or Chinese yellow wine), and Japanese sake, are discussed. The formation of peptides in wine imparts sensorial, technological, and biological attributes. Prospects on future research, with an emphasis on the peptide characterization, formation mechanism, physiological activity, and molecular mechanisms of action, are presented.

Abstract
VPP (Val-Pro-Pro) and IPP (Ile-Pro-Pro) are two famous antihypertensive peptides with possible benefits for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study was aimed to investigate the effect of peptide analogues of VPP and IPP on glucose uptake activity in L6 myotubes. The analogues were designed by replacing the N-terminal, middle, or C-terminal amino acid residues of VPP and IPP with one amino acid at a time from five amino acid groups (polar, nonpolar, basic, acidic, and aromatic amino acids). Among 26 tripeptides tested, IQP, IPQ, VPE, and VEP showed significantly higher glucose uptake activity than their parent peptides, and all were successfully released from rice proteins at the contents of 5415.82 ± 63.34, 1586.77 ± 14.94, 354.07 ± 6.56, and 596.10 ± 2.32 ng/mg dry basis, respectively, and quantified by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (MS)/MS using multiple reaction monitoring. All four peptides were shown to promote glucose uptake via the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase pathway accompanied by glucose transporter type 4 (Glut4) translocation rather than the insulin signaling pathway.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Understanding the determinants of HIV immune control is important for seeking viable HIV prevention, treatment and curative strategies. The antigen-specific roles of CD8 T cells in controlling primary HIV infection have been well documented, but their abilities to control the latent HIV reservoir is less well studied. METHODS The scientific literature on this issue was searched on PubMed. RESULTS Recent reports have demonstrated that CD8 T cells are also involved in the control of viral replication in HIV-infected individuals receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). However, based on accumulating evidence, the antiviral role of CD8 T cells in ART patients may not be achieved via an antigen-specific manner as HIV-specific CD8 T cells can sense, but not effectively eliminate, cells harbouring intact provirus without first being activated. Our recent study indicated that virtual memory CD8 T cells, a semi-differentiated component of CD8 T cells, may be involved in the mechanism restraining the HIV DNA reservoir in ART patients. CONCLUSIONS In this review, we summarize recent findings on the role of CD8 T cells in controlling HIV, highlighting differences between conventional antigen-specific and innate-like CD8 T cells. A better understanding of the roles of CD8 T cells during HIV infection should benefit the informed design of immune-based treatment strategies.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application in the preparation of supraclavicular island flap by "point line anterograde dissection (PLAD) ". Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 45 flaps of 43 patients treated with supraclavicular artery island flap from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Beijing Tongren Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2013 to June 2019. The patients were all male, aged 35-72 years old. There were 26 cases of hypopharyngeal cancer, 4 cases of recurrent laryngeal cancer, 2 cases of cervical esophageal cancer, 1 case of tonsillar cancer, 1 case of parotid gland cancer, 3 cases of postoperative pharyngeal fistula after hypopharyngeal cancer, 2 cases of esophageal fistula after trauma, 2 cases of esophageal stricture after hypopharyngeal carcinoma operation, 1 case of autoimmune laryngeal stenosis, and 1 case of cheek defect after maxillary sinus cancer operation."Point" was the origin of the supraclavicular artery in the transverse carotid artery. "Line" was an extension line made along the starting point of the supraclavicular vessel for anterograde anatomy of 1-2 cm and the direction of the blood vessel. The extension line was used as the central axis of the designed island flap. Characteristics of flap blood supply, the time of flap preparation, flap survival, donor area recovery and clinical follow-up were recorded. Results: The arterial blood supply of the flap was constant, and the venous reflux was variable. The area of the prepared flap was (4-8) cm×(10-18) cm, and the preparation time was 30-60 min, with a median of 42 min. Skin flap survival rate was 100%. Partial necrosis of skin flap occurred in 1 patient and postoperative pharyngeal fistula occurred in 5 patients, all of whom were cured by dressing change. The donor site defects were closed and sutured directly. 3 patients had partial incision dehiscence and healed after dressing change. During the follow-up, 1 patient was lost, and the remaining 42 patients were followed up for 8 to 55 months.40 patients involved swallowing function, all of them returned to regular diet or soft fluid after operation.40 patients involved malignant tumors and local tumor recurrence in 3 patients among whom, there were 2 cases of lymph node recurrence, and 2 cases of distant metastasis, including 1 case of lung metastasis and 1 case of bone metastasis. Conclusion: PLAD is a simple, safe and efficient method for the preparation of supraclavicular island flap.

Abstract
Neuroinflammation is a critical mechanism responsible for the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Recent studies reveal that Hippo/Yes-associated protein (YAP) signaling pathway is highly associated with a series of inflammation-related disorders. Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), with its neurotrophic and anti-apoptotic functions for nervous system, has been demonstrated to decrease the expression of proinflammatory mediators. Here we investigated whether Hippo/YAP signaling may affect amyloid-β (Aβ)-induced proinflammatory cytokine production in microglial cells and explored its relationship with the anti-inflammation function of GDNF. The results showed that Aβ induced a decrease in the expression of YAP in microglia cells. YAP agonist XMU-MP-1 or its overexpression in microglial cells caused decreased expression of proinflammatory cytokines, whereas YAP antagonist Verteporfin or knockdown of YAP had the opposite effect. Treatment with GDNF resulted in upregulation of YAP expression and reduced the production of proinflammatory cytokines. Meanwhile YAP knockdown weakened the function of GDNF in microglial cells. In conclusion, Hippo/YAP pathway plays a critical role in effect of GDNF against Aβ-induced inflammatory response in microglia. Targeting GDNF or Hippo/YAP signaling may be promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of AD.

Abstract
The research of new superconductors is an ongoing field for the fundamental significances and potential applications, and two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials open a new alluring branch for exploration. Here we predict by first-principles calculations that 2D pristine graphene-like BSi monolayer is a phonon-mediated superconductor above the boiling point of liquid helium. The intrinsic covalent-metallic ground state, large density of states at Fermi energy, proper electronic organization as well as strong coupling of out-of-plane phonons and electrons endow an intermediate electron-phonon coupling of ~1.12, rendering this honeycomb sheet as a conventional superconductor with a relatively high T c ~ 11 K. As the global minimum structure in the 2D space previously predicted, this superconducting BSi monolayer may be feasible experimentally. Our finding provides a new field of superconducting nanomaterials for study.

Abstract
Gene therapy is a rapidly developing field. The most widely used technique for foreign gene transfer is lentiviral-mediated gene therapy. Lentiviral vector has been developed from the first generation to the third generation in terms of safety. The preparation of lentiviruses with high titer remains difficult. In this study, a Fibra-Cel sheet carrier was used as an HEK293T cell carrier matrix, and several sterile cell culture spinners were combined and cultured on a roller bottle machine to scale up the adherent cells. The virus titer was maximized by screening the factors to optimize the lentivirus titer in the third-generation lentivirus packaging process one by one. Fibra-Cel sheet vector was successfully used as the matrix of HEK293T cell adhesion to culture adherent cells at large scale. The optimal conditions for large-scale preparation of the third-generation lentivirus by bottle roller were screened and three batches of lentiviruses were produced on pilot scale. The production time of lentivirus was shortened from 120 hours to 54 hours from plasmid transfection to virus collection; in terms of cost, a rolling bottle machine was used instead of a bioreactor, leading to lower cost and no need for repeated sterilization during the whole process. The safe, effective and low-cost operation of successful production will provide a technical base for the large-scale preparation of lentivirus and thus lay a firm foundation for its clinical application.

Abstract
Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in human cancers. However, the functional roles of lncRNAs in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. Methods We examined the expression of lncRNA DANCR in NSCLC by qRT-PCR and explored its biological roles in NSCLC progression by cell and molecular biology studies. Results DANCR expression level was increased in human NSCLC. The knockdown of DANCR inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation by inducing cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. In addition, DANCR knockdown suppressed NSCLC cell migration and invasion via inhibition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). On the contrary, DANCR overexpression had the opposite effects. DANCR knockdown inhibited EZH-2-mediated epigenetic silencing of p21 promoter and increased p21 expression. Moreover, DANCR knockdown inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in a p21-dependent manner. Conclusion DANCR plays oncogenic roles in NSCLC and may provide a novel biomarker for NSCLC diagnosis and prognosis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of soluble Semaphorin 5A(Sema 5A) in patients of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and the effect of Sema 5A on osteoclastogenesis in RAW264.7 cells. Methods: (1)Soluble Sema 5A was detected in the serum of 62 RA patients, 30 osteoarthritis(OA) patients and 48 healthy controls(HC) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The relationships between serum Sema 5A and disease activity, radiographic severity and laboratory parameters were investigated in RA patients.(2)RAW264.7 cells were treated with different concentrations of Sema 5A(0,0.5,1,2.5,5 μg/ml).After 7 days, tartrate-resistant acid phosphate(TRAP) staining was performed. The mRNA levels of TRAP, cathepsin-K and matrix metallopeptidase 9(MMP-9) were tested using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).(3)Bone resorption area of dentine slides cultured with RAW264.7 cells was calculated after Sema 5A(5μg/ml) treatment. Results: (1)The serum Sema 5A in RA patients[(5.24±0.59)μg/L] was significantly higher than those in healthy controls[(2.93±0.34)μg/L,P<0.01] and OA patients[(2.68±0.47)μg/L,P<0.05]. The Sema 5A level in RA patients was positively correlated with disease activity score with 28 joint using C-reactive protein(DAS28-CRP), clinical disease activity index (CDAI),C-reactive protein(CRP) and sharp scores(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In addition,the serum Sema 5A in RA patients with positive anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(CCP) antibody was significantly greater than that of anti-CCP antibody-negative patients(P<0.05).(2)After RAW264.7 cells were treated with Sema 5A, the number of TRAP positive osteoclasts increased according to the increase of Sema 5A concentration with maximal effect at 5 μg/ml. Meanwhile, Sema 5A promoted mRNA expression of TRAP,Cathepsin-K and MMP-9.(3)Bone resorption area increased when RAW264.7 cells were treated with Sema 5A(5 μg/ml). Conclusions: Serum Sema 5A is elevated in RA patients and correlated with disease activity and radiographic severity. Sema 5A promotes osteoclastogenesis of RAW264.7 cells.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE) causes 4% of all healthcare-associated infections in the USA. The process by which the local hospital milieu contributes to VRE acquisition is not fully understood. AIM To determine the importance of specific factors within the local hospital environment for healthcare-associated VRE acquisition. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included patients admitted to six intensive care units at an academic medical centre from January 2012 to December 2016 with negative rectal VRE cultures on admission. VRE acquisition was defined as a positive surveillance swab performed at any time after the initial negative swab during the index hospitalization. The exposures of interest were VRE colonization pressure, VRE importation pressure, and use of vancomycin. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards modelling was performed, with patients followed until VRE acquisition, death, or for up to 30 days. FINDINGS Of 8485 patients who were initially VRE negative, 161 patients acquired VRE. On univariate analysis, patients with VRE acquisition were more likely to have received vancomycin, to have had a neighbouring patient who received vancomycin, to have high VRE importation pressure, or to have high VRE colonization pressure. On multivariable analysis, only high VRE colonization pressure was an independent predictor of VRE acquisition (adjusted hazard ratio: 1.79; 95% confidence interval: 1.19-2.70). CONCLUSION VRE colonization pressure was the most important risk factor for healthcare-associated VRE acquisition, regardless of VRE importation pressure. Interventions seeking to reduce VRE acquisition should focus on minimizing transmission between patients with known VRE and the local hospital environment.

Abstract
Nonribosomal peptides from marine Bacillus strains have received considerable attention for their complex structures and potent bioactivities. In this study, we carried out PCR-based genome mining for potential nonribosomal peptides producers from our marine bacterial library. Twenty-one "positive" strains were screened out from 180 marine bacterial strains, and subsequent small-scale fermentation, HPLC and phylogenetic analysis afforded Bacillus sp. PKU-MA00092 and PKU-MA00093 as two candidates for large-scale fermentation and isolation. Ten nonribosomal peptides, including four bacillibactin analogues (1-4) and six bacillomycin D analogues (5-10) were discovered from Bacillus sp. PKU-MA00093 and PKU-MA00092, respectively. Compounds 1 and 2 are two new compounds and the ¹H NMR and 13C NMR data of compounds 7 and 9 is first provided. All compounds 1-10 were assayed for their cytotoxicities against human cancer cell lines HepG2 and MCF7, and the bacillomycin D analogues 7-10 showed moderate cytotoxicities with IC50 values from 2.9 ± 0.1 to 8.2 ± 0.2 µM. The discovery of 5-10 with different fatty acid moieties gave us the opportunity to reveal the structure-activity relationships of bacillomycin analogues against these human cancer cell lines. These results enrich the structural diversity and bioactivity properties of nonribosomal peptides from marine Bacillus strains.

Abstract
Companion animals including dogs are one of the important components in One Health. Parasites may cause not only diseases in pet animals but also many zoonotic diseases infecting humans. In this study, we performed a survey of intestinal parasites in fecal specimens (n = 485) collected from outpatient pet dogs with diarrhea in Beijing, China, for the entire year of 2015 by microscopic examination (all parasites) and SSU rRNA-based nested PCR detection (Giardia and Cryptosporidium). We observed a total of 124 (25.6%) parasite-positive specimens that contained one or more parasites, including Giardia duodenalis (12.8%), Cryptosporidium spp. (4.9%), Cystoisospora spp. (4.3%), trichomonads (4.3%), Toxocara canis (3.5%), Trichuris vulpis (0.6%), and Dipylidium caninum (0.2%). Among the 55 dog breeds, infection rates were significantly higher in border collies and bulldogs, but lower in poodles (p < 0.05). Risk factor analysis suggested that age was negatively correlated with the infection rate (p < 0.00001), while vaccination and deworming in the past 12 months could significantly reduce the parasite infections (p < 0.01). Among the 62 Giardia-positive specimens, 21 were successfully assigned into assemblages using glutamate dehydrogenase (gdh) and/or beta-giardin (bg) genes, including assemblage D (n = 15), C (n = 5), and F (n = 1). Among the 24 Cryptosporidium-positive specimens by SSU rRNA PCR, 20 PCR amplicons could be sequenced and identified as Cryptosporidium canis (n = 20). Collectively, this study indicates that parasites are a significant group of pathogens in companion dogs in Beijing, and companion dogs may potentially transmit certain zoonotic parasites to humans, particularly those with weak or weakened immunity.

Abstract
Most existing works investigate consensus with noise following a certain distribution, e.g., Gaussian distribution, with fixed expectation and variance, which may not be satisfied in practical applications. This paper investigates the discrete system consensus under bounded noise, which is important and practical problem. We first provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of consensus under bounded noise. To be more general, we derive an analytical bound to show the max-min difference between the nodes' states when the general consensus algorithm converges to a stable state. Then, a novel consensus algorithm, fast consensus under bounded noise (FCBN), is proposed to eliminate the accumulative error caused by the bounded noise. It is proved that FCBN has a faster convergence speed and a higher consensus accuracy than general consensus algorithms. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract
A regular domain structure consisting of parallel stripes - flexodomains - have been induced by low frequency (subHz) electric voltage in a bent core nematic liquid crystal. The wavelength of the pattern is in the range of 1-10 micrometers and thus can conveniently be observed in a polarizing microscope. It also serves as an optical grating and produces a regular system of laser diffraction spots. The pattern was found to emerge and disappear consecutively in each half period of the driving, with the wavelength of the flexodomains changing periodically as the ac voltage oscillates. Analyzing the polarization characteristics of the diffracted light, the polarization of the first order spot was found perpendicular to that of the incident light, in accordance with a recent theoretical calculation.

Abstract
Electric-field-induced patterns of diverse morphology have been observed over a wide frequency range in a recently synthesized bent-core nematic (BCN) liquid crystal. At low frequencies (up to ∼25 Hz), the BCN exhibited unusual polarity-dependent patterns. When the amplitude of the ac field was enhanced, these two time-asymmetrical patterns turned into time-symmetrical prewavylike stripes. At ac frequencies in the middle-frequency range (∼50-3000 Hz), zigzag patterns were detected whose obliqueness varied with the frequency. Finally, if the frequency was increased above 3 kHz, the zigzag pattern was replaced by another, prewavylike pattern, whose threshold voltage depended on the frequency; however, the wave vector did not. For a more complete characterization, material parameters such as elastic constants, dielectric permittivities, and the anisotropy of the diamagnetic susceptibility were also determined.

Abstract
Hypertrophy is a major predictor of progressive heart disease and has an adverse
prognosis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) that accumulate during the course of cardiac
hypertrophy may participate in the process. However, the nature of any interaction
between a hypertrophy-specific signaling pathway and aberrant expression of miRNAs
remains unclear. In this study, Spague Dawley male rats were treated with transverse
aortic constriction (TAC) surgery to mimic pathological hypertrophy. Hearts were
isolated from TAC and sham operated rats (n=5 for each group at 5, 10, 15, and 20
days after surgery) for miRNA microarray assay. The miRNAs dysexpressed during
hypertrophy were further analyzed using a combination of bioinformatics algorithms in
order to predict possible targets. Increased expression of the target genes
identified in diverse signaling pathways was also analyzed. Two sets of miRNAs were
identified, showing different expression patterns during hypertrophy. Bioinformatics
analysis suggested the miRNAs may regulate multiple hypertrophy-specific signaling
pathways by targeting the member genes and the interaction of miRNA and mRNA might
form a network that leads to cardiac hypertrophy. In addition, the multifold changes
in several miRNAs suggested that upregulation of rno-miR-331*, rno-miR-3596b,
rno-miR-3557-5p and downregulation of rno-miR-10a, miR-221, miR-190, miR-451 could be
seen as biomarkers of prognosis in clinical therapy of heart failure. This study
described, for the first time, a potential mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy involving
multiple signaling pathways that control up- and downregulation of miRNAs. It
represents a first step in the systematic discovery of miRNA function in
cardiovascular hypertrophy.
