Abstract
Enhancing the pH-independence and controlling the magnitude of electroosmotic flow (EOF) are critical for highly efficient and reproducible capillary electrophoresis (CE) separations. Herein, we present a novel capillary modification method utilizing sulfonated periodate-induced polydopamine (SPD) coating to achieve pH-independent and highly reproducible cathodic EOF in CE. The SPD-coated capillaries were obtained through post-sulfonation treatment of periodate-induced PDA (PDA-SP) coatings adhered on the capillary inner surface. The successful immobilization of the SPD coating and the substantial grafting of sulfonic acid groups were confirmed by a series of characterization techniques. The excellent capability of PDA-SP@capillary in masking silanol groups and maintaining a highly robust EOF mobility was verified. Additionally, the parameters of sulfonation affecting the EOF mobilities were thoroughly examined. The obtained optimum SPD-coated column offered the anticipated highly pH-independent and high-strength cathodic EOF, which is essential for enhancing the CE separation performance and improving analysis efficiency. Consequently, the developed SPD-coated capillaries enabled successful high-efficiency separation of aromatic acids and nucleosides and rapid cyclodextrin-based chiral analysis of racemic drugs. Moreover, the SPD-coated columns exhibited a long lifetime and demonstrated good intra-day, inter-day, and column-to-column repeatability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the involvement of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) in EMT and their contributions to CRSwNP has not been extensively investigated. METHODS SEVs were isolated from nasal mucosa through ultracentrifugation. MicroRNA sequencing and reverse-transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction were employed to analyze the differential expression of microRNAs carried by sEVs. Human nasal epithelial cells (hNECs) were used to assess the EMT-inducing effect of sEVs/microRNAs. EMT-associated markers were detected by western blotting and immunofluorescence. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was performed to determine the target gene of miR-375-3p. MicroRNA mimic, lentiviral, and plasmid transduction were used for functional experiments. RESULTS In line with the greater EMT status in eosinophilic CRSwNP (ENP), sEVs derived from ENP (ENP-sEVs) could induce EMT in hNECs. MiR-375-3p was elevated in ENP-sEVs compared to that in control and nonENP. MiR-375- 3p carried by ENP-sEVs facilitated EMT by directly targeting KH domain containing RNA binding (QKI) at seed sequences of 913-919, 1025-1033, and 2438-2444 in 3'-untranslated region. Inhibition of QKI by miR-375-3p overexpression promoted EMT, which could be reversed by restoration of QKI. Furthermore, the abundance of miR-375-3p in sEVs was closely correlated with the clinical symptom score and disease severity. CONCLUSIONS MiR-375-3p-enriched sEVs facilitated EMT by suppressing QKI in hNECs. The association of miR-375-3p with disease severity underscores its potential as both a diagnostic marker and a therapeutic target for the innovative management of CRSwNP.

Abstract
Molecular interactions play a vital role in regulating various physiological and biochemical processes in vivo. Kinetic capillary electrophoresis (KCE) is an analytical platform that offers significant advantages in studying the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of molecular interactions. It enables the simultaneous analysis of these parameters within an interaction pattern and facilitates the screening of binding ligands with predetermined kinetic parameters. Nonequilibrium capillary electrophoresis of equilibrium mixtures (NECEEM) was the first proposed KCE method, and it has found widespread use in studying molecular interactions involving proteins/aptamers, proteins/small molecules, and peptides/small molecules. The successful applications of NECEEM have demonstrated its promising potential for further development and broader application. However, there has been a dearth of recent reviews on NECEEM. To address this gap, our study provides a comprehensive description of NECEEM, encompassing its origins, development, and applications from 2015 to 2022. The primary focus of the applications section is on aptamer selection and screening of small-molecule ligands. Furthermore, we discuss important considerations in NECEEM experimental design, such as buffer suitability, detector selection, and protein adsorption. By offering this thorough review, we aim to contribute to the understanding, advancement, and wider utilization of NECEEM as a valuable tool for studying molecular interactions and facilitating the identification of potential ligands and targets.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors of protein energy wasting (PEW) in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods: Clinical data of 231 children with chronic kidney disease hospitalized in Beijing Children's Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2018 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed to explore the incidence of PEW. According to the diagnostic criteria of CKDPEW, they were divided into a CKDPEW group and a non PEW group. The comparison between the groups was performed by independent-sample t test and Chi-squared test, and the risk factors were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression. Results: Among the 231 children, there were 138 males and 93 females, with a visiting age of 9.9 (7.9, 16.0) years; 6 cases were in stage 1, 14 cases in stage 2, 51 cases in stage 3, 36 cases in stage 4, and 124 cases in stage 5. A total of 30 children (13.0%) with CKD PEW were diagnosed at the age of 7. 1 (3.8, 13.2) years, including 1 case in stage 1, 1 case in stage 2, 5 cases in stage 3, 5 cases in stage 4, and 18 cases in stage 5. There were a total of 201 cases (87.0%) in the non PEW group, diagnosed at the age of 11.8 (8.5, 12.2) years, including 5 cases in stage 1, 13 cases in stage 2, 46 cases in stage 3, 31 cases in stage 4, and 106 cases in stage 5. The Chi-squared test and t test showed that the systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, birth weight and carbon dioxide binding capacity of the CKD PEW group were lower than those of the non PEW group ((109±22) vs. (120±20) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), (72±19) vs. (79±16) mmHg, (2.9±0.5) vs. (3.2±0.6) kg, (17±4) vs. (19±4) mmol/L,t=2.85, 2.14, 0.67, 2.63, all P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that carbon dioxide binding capacity and birth weight were independent protective factors of CKDPEW in children (OR=0.81 and 0.36, 95%CI=0.73-0.90 and 0.17-0.77, respectively; both P<0.01); the risk of PEW in CKD children decreased by 0.187 times for every 1 mmol/L increment in carbon dioxide binding capacity, and 0.638 times for every 1 kg increment in birth weight. Conclusions: The incidence of protein energy expenditure in children with chronic kidney disease is lower than that in the previous researches. PEW can appear in CKD 1-2 stage, and attention should be paid to it in the early stage of CKD in clinical practice. Low birth weight CKD children are susceptible to PEW, and actively correcting metabolic acidosis can reduce the risk of CKDPEW.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the curative effects of butterfly-shaped flap based on the dorsal branch of digital artery (hereinafter referred to as butterfly-shaped flap) and propeller flap based on the dorsal branch of digital artery (hereinafter referred to as propeller flap) in repairing the wound in volar aspect of finger. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. From August 2018 to April 2022, 16 patients with finger palmar wounds admitted to Ruijin Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and 7 patients with finger palmar wounds admitted to General Hospital of PLA Central Theater Command met the inclusion criteria, including 14 males and 9 females, aged 25 to 64 years. After debridement or resection of skin benign tumor, the wounds ranged from 0.5 cm×0.5 cm to 1.5 cm×1.5 cm. According to the different rotation axes of flap pedicle during wound repair, the patients were divided into butterfly-shaped flap group (8 cases) and propeller flap group (15 cases), and their wounds were repaired by butterfly-shaped flap (with area of 0.5 cm×0.5 cm-1.5 cm×1.3 cm) or propeller flap (with area of 0.7 cm×0.5 cm-1.5 cm×1.5 cm) , respectively. In propeller flap group, wounds in the donor sites were repaired by full-thickness skin grafts taken from the palms of wrists or the groin. The surgical time, postoperative complications, flap survival, and wound healing time of patients in the two groups were recorded. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, Mann Whitney U test, or Fisher's exact probability test. Results: The surgical time and postoperative wound healing time of patients in butterfly-shaped flap group ((43±9) min and (13.1±0.8) d, respectively) were both significantly shorter than those in propeller flap group ((87±16) min and (16.7±4.6) d, respectively, with t values of -7.03 and -2.86, respectively, P<0.05). The postoperative flap survival and complications of patients between the two groups were both similar (P>0.05). Conclusions: For repairing the wound in volar aspect of finger, the butterfly-shaped flap has more advantages in comparison with the traditional propeller flap. The butterfly-shaped flap has a short surgical time and fast postoperative recovery, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Abstract
Mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) and its derivative materials have exhibited a huge potential as a facile and versatile route to fabricate multifunctional coatings on virtually any substrate surface. However, their performance and applicability are frequently obstructed by limited optical absorption in visible regions of PDA and poor surface adhesion persistence of dopamine solutions. Herein, we report a facile strategy to improve these problems by rationally regulating the dopamine polymerization pathway through mixed-solvent-mediated periodate oxidation of dopamine. The spectral analysis, ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry, and density functional theory simulations systematically demonstrate that the mixed-solvent reaction systems can effectively accelerate the periodate-induced formation of cyclized moieties in the PDA microstructure and inhibit their further oxidative cleavage, thus contributing to narrowing the inherent energy band gap of PDA and improving the long-lasting surface deposition performance of aged dopamine solutions. Moreover, the newly constructed cyclized species-rich PDA coatings have excellent surface uniformity and significantly enhanced chemical stability. Benefiting from these fascinating properties, they have been further used for permanent dyeing of natural gray hair with remarkably improved blackening effect and excellent practicability, which exhibited their promising prospect in real-world applications.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the feasibility and surgical approach of removing type D trigeminal schwannoma through nasal cavity and nasal sinus under endoscope. Methods: Eleven patients with trigeminal schwannoma who were treated in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from December 2014 to August 2021 were analyzed retrospectively in this study. There were 7 males and 4 females, aged (47.5±13.5) years (range: 12 to 64 years). The neoplasm involved the pterygopalatine fossa, infratemporal fossa, ethmoidal sinus, sphenoid sinus, cavernous sinus, and middle cranial fossa. The size of tumors were between 1.6 cm×2.0 cm×2.0 cm and 5.7 cm×6.0 cm×6.0 cm. Under general anesthesia, the tumors were resected through the transpterygoid approach in 4 cases, through the prelacrimal recess approach in 4 cases, through the extended prelacrimal recess approach in 2 cases, and through the endoscopic medial maxillectomy approach in 1 case. The nasal endoscopy and imaging examination were conducted to detect whether neoplasm recurred or not, and the main clinical symptoms during follow-up. Results: All the surgical procedures were performed under endonasal endoscope, including Gross total resection in 10 patients. The tumor of a 12-year-old patient was not resected completely due to huge tumor size and limited operation space. One patient was accompanied by two other schwannomas located in the occipital region and the ipsilateral parotid gland region originating from the zygomatic branch of the facial nerve, both of which were removed concurrently. After tumor resection, the dura mater of middle cranial fossa was directly exposed in the nasal sinus in 2 cases, including 1 case accompanied by cerebrospinal fluid leakage which was reconstructed by a free mucosal flap obtained from the middle turbinate, the other case was packed by the autologous fat to protect the dura mater. The operation time was (M(IQR)) 180 (160) minutes (range: 120 to 485 minutes). No complications and deaths were observed. No recurrence was observed in the 10 patients with total tumor resection during a 58 (68) months' (range: 10 to 90 months) follow-up. No obvious change was observed in the facial appearance of all patients during the follow-up. Conclusion: Type D trigeminal schwannoma involving pterygopalatine fossa and infratemporal fossa can be removed safely through purely endoscopic endonasal approach by selecting the appropriate approach according to the size and involvement of the tumor.

Abstract
Salix floderusii is a rare alpine tree species in the Salix genus. Unfortunately, no extensive germplasm identification, molecular phylogeny, and chloroplast genomics of this plant have been conducted. We sequenced the chloroplast (cp) genome of S. floderusii for the first time using second-generation sequencing technology. The cp genome was 155,540 bp long, including a large single-copy region (LSC, 84,401 bp), a small single-copy region (SSC, 16,221 bp), and inverted repeat regions (IR, 54,918 bp). A total of 131 genes were identified, including 86 protein genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The S. floderusii cp genome contains 1 complement repeat, 24 forward repeats, 17 palindromic repeats, and 7 reverse repeats. Analysis of the IR borders showed that the IRa and IRb regions of S. floderusii and Salix caprea were shorter than those of Salix cinerea, which may affect plastome evolution. Furthermore, four highly variable regions were found, including the rpl22 coding region, psbM/trnD-GUC non-coding region, petA/psbJ non-coding region, and ycf1 coding region. These high variable regions can be used as candidate molecular markers and as a reference for identifying future Salix species. In addition, phylogenetic analysis indicated that the cp genome of S. floderusii is sister to Salix cupularis and belongs to the Subgenus Vetrix. Genes (Sf-trnI, Sf-PpsbA, aadA, Sf-TpsbA, Sf-trnA) obtained via cloning were inserted into the pBluescript II SK (+) to yield the cp expression vectors, which harbored the selectable marker gene aadA. The results of a spectinomycin resistance test indicated that the cp expression vector had been successfully constructed. Moreover, the aadA gene was efficiently expressed under the regulation of predicted regulatory elements. The present study provides a solid foundation for establishing subsequent S. floderusii cp transformation systems and developing strategies for the genetic improvement of S. floderusii.

Abstract
BackgroundEosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is characterized by eosinophilic inflammation of small with or without medium arteries. EGPA is a rare disease with varying prevalence and incidence rates globally. To date, limited information is available on the prevalence, incidence and burden of disease in the United Kingdom (UK).ObjectivesThe objectives were to estimate the prevalence and incidence of EGPA, and to describe the healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) among patients with EGPA in the UK.MethodsThis retrospective database study used the UK-based Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD)-AURUM database linked to the Hospital Episode Statistics (HES). Prevalence was estimated from 2005 to 2019, and incidence was estimated from 2006 to 2019. HCRU was assessed in the 12-months following the first recorded diagnosis of EGPA (index date), and included hospitalizations, emergency room visits, procedures, outpatient specialist visits, primary care visits, and oral corticosteroid use.Results764 people were identified with EGPA in the UK. The prevalence of EGPA, reported in the database, increased from 22.7 to 45.6 per 1,000,000 persons from 2005 to 2019 (Figure 1), whereas the incidence of EGPA from 2006 to 2019 ranged from 2.28 to 4.00 per 1,000,000 person-years. 377 patients with EGPA were successfully linked to the CPRD-HES database. Patient characteristics were as follows: mean age (SD) was 57 years (14.2); 49% were male; 81% had asthma; and 11% had peripheral neuropathy prior to the index date. For patients with EGPA, 19% had an EGPA-related hospitalization and 50% had any-cause hospitalization within 1 year of the index date (Table 1). The mean length of stay was, 18 days and 16 days for EGPA-related and any-cause hospitalizations, respectively. 52% of patients with EGPA had undergone a medical procedure, 89% of patients with EGPA had an outpatient visit to a specialist. Almost all patients with EGPA visited a general practitioner within 1 year of their EGPA diagnosis (97%) and averaged 16.0 visits in 1 year. Abstract
Objective: To compare the clinical features of multiple endocrine adenoma type 1 (MEN-1) associated pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNENs) as well as sporadic pNENs. Methods: The clinical data of 28 sporadic pNENs patients and 10 MEN-1-related pNENs patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2010 to June 2021 were collected. Meanwhile, by searching PubMed database and reviewing the clinical data of 20 foreign patients with MEN-1-related pNENs which were reported at the same time.Compare and analyze the similarities and differences between MEN1-associated pNENs and sporadic pNENs in clinical features, such as family history, blood tests, pathological diagnostic indicators, tumor grade, stage and metastasis, treatment and prognosis and so on. Results: A total of 58 pNENs patients were included, and there were 30 MEN1-related pNENs patients and 28 sporadic pNENs patients. Eighteen patients (60%) had a family history of MEN1-related pNENs, and the mean age of onset was (35.3±13.0)years. There were no patients (0) with family history of sporadic pNENs, and the mean age of onset was(55.3±13.4)years. In contrast, the differences in family history, age of onset and NSE were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Among the pathological diagnostic indicators, there were 19 patients (63.3%) with Grade G2 of MEN1-related pNENs, and 25 patients (83.3%) with somatostatin receptor 2(SSTR2) negative. In sporadic pNENs, there were 16 patients (57.1%) with Grade G2 and 9 patients (32.1%) with SSTR2 negative. The differences in pathological grade, immunohistochemistry (Chromogranin A, CD56, and somatostatin receptor 2, SSTR2) between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05). In terms of tumor staging and metastasis, 21 patients with MEN-1-related pNENs had metastasis (70%) and 20 patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ AJCC (71%) in all. Eight patients with sporadic pNENs had metastasis (26.7%) and 8 patients were with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ AJCC (28.6%). By contrast, the differences in total metastasis rate, AJCC stage and distant metastasis between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05). In terms of treatment and prognosis, there was no statistical significance in the differences between surgical treatment and prognosis (P>0.05), and the difference was also not statistically significant in survival rate between them (P>0.05). Conclusions: There are no significant differences between MEN1-related pNENs and sporadic pNENs in terms of treatment, prognosis, and survival rate, but there are significant differences in clinical features, pathological features and the staging and grading of tumors. The rate of tumor grade, stage and metastasis of sporadic pNENs is higher.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Gynura divaricata (L.) DC. (GD), a herbal medicine, has been used for the prevention and treatment of hyperglycemia in China. However, hypoglycemic ingredients within GD have not yet been well studied. AIM OF THE STUDY The aim of this study was to explore undiscovered compounds with dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) inhibitory activity within GD. MATERIALS AND METHODS A four-step strategy was developed to explore undiscovered DPP-IV inhibitors within GD. First, the components were preliminarily characterized using UHPLC-HRMS combined with a library search. Second, preliminarily characterized compounds were searched for potential bioactivity. Third, a mixture of these preliminarily characterized compounds was isolated and thoroughly characterized based on fragmentation patterns associated with molecular networking. Fourth, the activities of these compounds were verified using DPP-IV inhibitory assay and molecular docking. RESULTS Diprotin A, a tripeptide inhibitor against DPP-IV, was identified. Thereafter, a mixture of twenty-five diprotin A analogs was isolated and characterized, which exhibited IC50 of 0.40 mg/mL for DPP-IV. Molecular docking results also confirmed the interactions between the tripeptide analogs and DPP-IV mainly via H-bonds and hydrophobic interactions. CONCLUSIONS This is the first report of DPP-IV inhibitors within GD. These findings demonstrate that the extract of GD might be beneficial for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and is expected to promote further development and utilization of GD in herbal medicine.

Abstract
Carbon dot (CD)-based multi-mode sensing has drawn much attention owing to its wider application range and higher availability compared with single-mode sensing. Herein, a simple and green methodology to construct a CD-based dual-mode fluorescent sensor from the waste biomass of flowers of wintersweet (FW-CDs) for parallel and semi-quantitative visual detection of Cr(VI) and Fe3+ was firstly reported. The FW-CD fluorescent probe had a high sensitivity to Cr(VI) and Fe3+ with wide ranges of linearity from 0.1 to 60 µM and 0.05 to 100 µM along with low detection limits (LOD) of 0.07 µM and 0.15 µM, respectively. Accordingly, the FW-CD-based dual-mode sensor had an excellent parallel sensing capacity toward Cr(VI) and Fe3+ with high selectivity and strong anti-interference capability by co-using dual-functional integration and dual-masking strategies. The developed parallel sensing platform was successfully applied to Cr(VI) and Fe3+ quantitative detection in real samples with high precision and good recovery. More importantly, a novel FW-CD-based fluorescent hydrogel sensor was fabricated and first applied in the parallel and semi-quantitative visual detection of Cr(VI) and ferrous ions in industrial effluent and iron supplements, further demonstrating the significant advantage of parallel and visual sensing strategies.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the dynamic change and clinical impact of DEK-NUP214 fusion gene in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Methods: Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RQ-PCR) and multicolor flow cytometry (FCM) were used to detect DEK-NUP214 gene expression and leukemia-associated immunophenotype (LAIP) in 15 newly diagnosed patients with positive DEK-NUP214 and receiving allo-HSCT from September 2012 to September 2017 at Peking University People's Hospital. The clinical outcome was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier survival curves. The impact of DEK-NUP214 expression was analyzed by log-rank test. Results: The subjects were followed-up with a median period of 657 (62-2 212) days. The median DEK-NUP214 expression level at diagnosis was 488% (274%-1 692%). Thirteen patients achieved complete remission before allo-HSCT. Thirteen patients had a residual DEK-NUP214 expression of 0.38% (0.029%-738.9%) before allo-HSCT. After allo-HSCT, DEK-NUP214 expression in 9/13 patients remained positive, which dropped by around 500 folds (5.7-5 663.0 folds) within a month post-transplant. Five patients died and 2 patients relapsed. The 3-year cumulative incidence of relapse in patients with positive DEK-NUP214 before transplant was 17.5%±11.3% and the 3-year overall survival was 60.5%±13.8%. After allo-HSCT, DEK-NUP214-negative patients had a better outcome. Conclusion: Quantitative monitor of DEK-NUP214 fusion gene could be a sensitive indicator of MRD status after allo-HSCT.

Abstract
A large number of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have exhibited increasingly wide utilization in the field of chromatographic separation owing to their intrinsic fascinating properties. However, the previous studies on supported MOF coating-based chromatographic separation focused only on the synthesis and chromatographic performance of a certain kind of supported MOF coatings as stationary phases using the multiple-step, complicated, and time-consuming modification methods, which severely impeded the widespread application of MOFs in separation science. Herein, a high-efficiency and versatile methodology toward diverse supported MOF coating-based stationary phases to achieve high-efficiency chromatographic separation was first reported based on the immobilized cysteine (Cys)-triggered in situ growth (ICISG) strategy. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, four types of MOF crystals consisting of different ligands and metal ions (Zn2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, and Zr4+) were conveniently and firmly grown on a Cys-modified capillary using the ICISG strategy and employed as the functional stationary phase for electrochromatographic separation. A broad variety of neutral, acidic, and basic compounds were all separated in a highly efficient manner on the developed four MOF-coated columns. The maximum theoretical plate number for Cys-MIL-100(Fe)@capillary was close to 1.0 × 105 plates/m, and the intraday, interday, and column-to-column repeatabilities of retention times for the four MOF-modified columns were all less than 5.25%. More interestingly, the diversified separation performance of the developed MOF-coated columns indicated that the preparation strategy and the skeletal structure of the MOF coating-based stationary phases have a significant influence on the electrochromatographic separation performance and column capacity. Benefiting from the strong universality and high applicability of the developed ICISG strategy, the present study provides an effective route to facilitate the design and fabrication of novel functional MOF-based chromatographic stationary phases.

Abstract
Background:Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) was associated with a significantly higher risk of opportunistic infections that including Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia(PJP) which is potentially fatal opportunistic infection. However, no prior studies have evaluated the PJP infection in subtypes of IIM.Objectives:To investigate the incidence rate and mortality rate of PJP infection in subgroups of IIM patients according to myopathy specific antibodies.Methods:In the first part, we reviewed 463 consecutive patients with IIM retrospectively to analyze incidence of PJP infection. In the next part, we enrolled 30 consecutive PJP infection patients with any rheumatic disease was to identify the mortality rate and risk factors. Kaplan-Meier curve with log rank test was used to access differences in survival. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify prognostic factors using Cox regression.Results:We found that 12(7.5%) PJP cases occurred in 160 anti-MDA5-ab-positive DM patients, while only two (0.7%) PJP cases were found in 303 anti-MDA5-ab-negtive DM/PM patients(P < 0.05). PJP infection typically happened in the first two months of the treatment for anti-MDA5-ab-positive DM patients who have a significant decrease in the CD4+ T cell counts and Lymphocyte counts (P < 0.05). Only two (16.7%) anti-MDA5-ab-positive DM patients recover from PJP, with lethally higher mortality than those PJP infection with other rheumatic diseases (83.3% vs. 38.9%, P < 0.05). We found no association between the time to anti-PJP treatment and treatment outcomes in anti-MDA5-ab-positive DM; yet we confirmed in PJP infection with other rheumatic diseases that anti-PJP treatment within 6 days crucially increased the survival (P < 0.05).Conclusion:PJP infection has alarming high incidence and mortality in anti-MDA5-ab-positive DM patients. Unlike PJP infection with other rheumatic diseases, timely treatment for PJP doesn’t improve the prognosis of this particular subtype. Abstract
AIMS Echinocandin B (ECB) is a kind of lipopeptide antifungal antibiotic, as well as the key precursor of antifungal drug Anidulafungin. Its efficient bioproduction plays an important role in promoting the industrial production of Anidulafungin. METHODS AND RESULTS In this study, methyl oleate and Tween 80 were firstly used to enhance the ECB fermentation by Aspergillus nidulans, the results showed that the ECB titre was significantly enhanced with the addition of methyl oleate and Tween 80. Among the lipids, methyl oleate was found to play a pivotal role in increasing the ECB titre to 2123 mg l-1 , which was more than five times higher than that of the control. The addition of Tween 80 in the medium resulted in ECB titre increased to 2584 mg l-1 . The scanning electron microscope (SEM) and N-phenyl-1-naphthylamine (NPN) assay indicated that Tween 80 could influence the cell membrane permeability of A. nidulans, and enhance the intracellular and extracellular substance exchange, therefore lead to the increasing of ECB titre. CONCLUSIONS Methyl oleate and Tween 80 are optimal carbon sources and surfactants for efficient ECB biosynthesis respectively. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY Surfactant was used in ECB fermentation for the first time, which provided feasible ideas for optimizing the fermentation process of other fungi.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To detect cerebrospinal fluid levels of amyloid beta- protein 42 (Aβ42) and neurofilament light protein (NFL) and explore their correlation with postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction (PNCD) in elderly patients. OBJECTIVE A total of 90 elderly patients undergoing hip or knee replacement with joint epidural anesthesia in our Hospital between January, 2017 and December, 2018 were recruited in this study. The levels of Aβ42 and NFL in the cerebrospinal fluid were detected using ELISA. Simple cognitive status assessment scale (MMSE) was used to evaluate the cognitive status of the patients 1 day before and 7 days after the surgery. All the patients underwent neurocognitive function tests, and the z-score method was used to determine the occurrence of PNCD. Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation of Aβ42 and NFL levels in the cerebrospinal fluid with MMSE scores. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was used to analyze the predictive value of cerebrospinal fluid Aβ42 and NFL levels for PNCD. OBJECTIVE PNCD occurred in 38 of the 90 elderly patients, with an incidence of 42.2%. The level of Aβ42 in the cerebrospinal fluid was significantly lower in PNCD group than in the nonPNCD group (1.96 vs 2.54 ng/mL; t=3.29, P < 0.05); the concentration of NFL in the cerebrospinal fluid was significantly higher in PNCD group than in non- PNCD group (4.59 vs 3.16 ng/mL; t=3.72, P < 0.05). Aβ42 level in the cerebrospinal fluid was positively correlated while NFL was negatively correlated with the MMSE score of the patients (r=-0.659, P < 0.05; r=-0.626, P < 0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve (AUC) of cerebrospinal fluid Aβ42 and NFL levels were 0.744 and 0.768, respectively; the AUC of their combination was 0.847 for prediction of PNCD. OBJECTIVE Elderly patients with PNCD have significantly higher levels of Aβ42 and NFL in the cerebrospinal fluid than those without PNCD. Both Aβ42 and NFL levels in the cerebrospinal fluid can help to predict the occurrence of POCD in elderly patients, and their combination has a higher diagnostic value.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have showed expected potential in chromatographic separation due to unique structure and excellent performance. Nowadays, COF materials applied as chromatographic stationary phases is still in its infancy. Here, we modified COF materials on silica using benzene-1,4,5-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PMDA) and 1,3,5-tris-(4-aminophenyl)triazine (TAPT) monomers by one-pot synthetic method for performing mixed-mode function, named as SiO2@COF. Five characterization methods including thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), elemental analysis (EA) and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) verified the morphology, structure characteristics and physicochemical properties of the materials. SiO2@COF for performing the separation of polar and nonpolar analytes on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) achieved the desired results. Retention mechanisms of the constructed SiO2@COF were researched via observing the effects of mobile phase with retention times. Results exhibited that the prepared stationary phase can provide various interaction modes, including hydrophobic, hydrophilic, hydrogen bonding and π-π interactions. In conclusion, the prepared SiO2@COF stationary phase can execute mixed-mode separation abilities and show potential for complex samples analysis.

Abstract
Objective: Donor cytomegalovirus (CMV) serological negative status may have an adverse effect on the outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), while there is inadequate data for Chinese people. This study is to explore the impact of donor CMV serological status on the outcome of CMV seropositive patients receiving allo-HSCT. Methods: Our study retrospectively analyzed 16 CMV seropositive patients with hematological malignancies receiving allogeneic grafts from CMV seronegative donors (antibody IgG negative) at Peking University People's Hospital from March 2013 to March 2020, which was defined as D-/R+ group. The other 64 CMV seropositive patients receiving grafts from CMV seropositive donors at the same period of time were selected as matched controls through a propensity score with 1∶4 depending on age, disease state and donor-recipient relationship (D+/R+ group). Results: Patients in D-/R+ group developed CMV DNAemia later than patients in the D+/R+ group (+37 days vs. +31 days after allo-HSCT, P=0.011), but the duration of CMV DNAemia in D-/R+ group was longer than that of D+/R+ group (99 days vs. 34 days, P=0.012). The rate of CMV reactivation 4 times or more in D-/R+ group was 4/16, significantly higher than that of D+/R+ group (4.7%, 3/64, P=0.01). The incidences of refractory CMV DNAemia (14/16 vs. 56.3%, P=0.021) and CMV disease (4/16 vs. 4.7%, P=0.01) in D-/R+ group were both higher than those in D+/R+ group. In addition, the application of CMV-CTL as the second-line antiviral treatment in D-/R+ group was more than that in D+/R+ group. Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis suggested that CMV serological negativity is an independent risk factor for refractory CMV DNAemia and the duration of CMV infection. The cumulative incidence of aGVHDⅡ-Ⅳ, cGVHD, 3-year probability of NRM, overall survival, and the cumulative incidence of relapse were all comparable in two groups. Conclusions: Although there is no significant effect on OS and NRM, the incidence of refractory CMV DNAemia, the frequency of virus reactivation, and the development of CMV disease in D-/R+ group are higher than those in controls. Therefore, CMV seropositive donors are preferred for CMV seropositive patients.

Abstract
Herein, a novel L-arginine (L-Arg)-modified polydopamine (PDA)-coated capillary (PDA/L-Arg@capillary) was firstly fabricated via the basic amino-acid-induced PDA co-deposition strategy and employed to constitute a new chiral ligand exchange capillary electrochromatography (CLE-CEC) method for the high-performance enantioseparation of D,L-amino acids (D,L-AAs) with L-Arg as the immobilized chiral ligand coordinating with the central metal ion Zn(II) as running buffer. Assisted by hydrothermal treatment, the robust immobilization of L-Arg on the capillary inner wall could be facilely achieved within 1 h, prominently improving the synthesis efficiency and simplifying the preparation procedure. The successful preparation of PDA/L-Arg coatings in the capillary was systematically characterized and confirmed using several methods. In comparison with bare and PDA-functionalized capillaries, the enantioseparation capability of the presented CLE-CEC system was significantly enhanced. Eight D,L-AAs were completely separated and three pairs were partially separated under the optimal conditions. The prepared PDA/L-Arg@capillary showed good repeatability and stability. The potential mechanism of the greatly enhanced enantioseparation performance obtained by PDA/L-Arg@capillary was also explored. Moreover, the proposed method was further utilized for studying the enzyme kinetics of L-glutamic dehydrogenase, exhibiting its promising prospects in enzyme assays and other related applications.

Abstract
Preparative liquid chromatography has become an important purification method owing to its advantages of high separation efficiency, good reproducibility, and low solvent consumption. Because overloading in preparative liquid chromatography must be performed to increase the throughput in a cycle, nonlinear chromatographic behavior is observed. Therefore, it is crucial to carefully study nonlinear chromatography for the purification of a given product, which facilitates the efficient optimization of the purification parameters. In this work, a method for the development of a purification method using preparative liquid chromatography based on nonlinear chromatography is proposed. Hydroxytyrosol was selected as the subject for method demonstration. Using methanol and ethanol as organic modifiers, the optimum flow rate was determined on three commercial columns entitled C8 TDE, C18 ME, and C18 TDE, respectively. The curves were fitted with the van Deemter equation, with thorough analysis of the A, B, and C terms. Adsorption isotherms were subsequently studied to explore the distribution of solutes between the stationary and mobile phases at equilibrium. C18 TDE, 5 vol% ethanol-water, and 0.2 mL/min were selected as the optimal separation material, elution solvent, and flow rate, respectively. Purification of hydroxytyrosol was tentatively confirmed on a C18 TDE column with 1.6% sample loading, 90.98% recovery, and 98.01% purity.

Abstract
In this study, porous covalent organic frameworks (COFs, named as COFs-SWMU) were synthesized for the first time via a facile approach by using 4,4',4''-methylidynetri-anilin and 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzenedicarboxaldehyde as precursors under ambient temperature. The COFs-SWMU were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, etc. The COFs-SWMU exhibited a relatively high specific surface area and desirable thermal stability. The adsorption performance of COFs-SWMU towards fluoronitrobenzenes (FNBs, including 1-fluoro-2-nitrobenzene, 1-fluoro-3-nitrobenzene, 1-fluoro-4-nitrobenzene, 2,4-difluoronitrobenzene, 3,4-difluoronitrobenzene, and 3,4-dinitrofluorobenzene) was investigated on the basis of adsorption capacity and partition coefficient (PC). The adsorption kinetics and isotherm of COFs-SWMU for FNBs were studied in detail. Further, a simple, fast and sensitive method which combined COFs-SWMU based extraction with high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection, was proposed for the analysis of FNBs in environmental samples. Desirable linearity (R2>0.9998) in the range of 0.1-100 μg•mL-1, low limits of detection (LODs; 0.1‒0.15 μg•mL‒1), low limits of quantitation (LOQs; 0.28‒0.40 μg•mL‒1), and desirable precision (RSDs, 0.24-2.83% for intraday and 1.13-6.92% for interday) are obtained. Finally, the COFs-SWMU were applied to the effective extraction of FNBs from environmental samples, and desirable recovery results were obtained.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely applied in a variety of fields. However, most of the developed MOFs are micrometer scale in crystal size and contain only micropores, which will limit the mass transport and diffusion of various analytes into their internal interaction sites, severely restricting the potential of MOFs in separation science. Herein, nanoscale hierarchically porous MOFs (NHP-MOFs) were first explored as a novel MOF-based stationary phase with excellent mass transfer performance and abundant accessible interaction sites for high-performance chromatographic separation. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, the nanoscale hierarchically micro- and mesoporous UiO-66 (NHP-UiO-66) was firmly immobilized on the capillary inner surface and utilized as the porous stationary phase for high-resolution and high-efficiency electrochromatographic separation. A wide range of low-, medium-, and high-molecular-weight analytes, including substituted benzenes, chlorobenzenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nucleosides, polypeptides, and proteins were all separated well on a NHP-UiO-66-coated column with excellent resolution and repeatability, exhibiting significantly improved column efficiency and separation ability compared to those of a microporous UiO-66-modified column. The maximum column efficiencies for all the six kinds of analytes reached up to 1.2 × 105 plates/m, and the relative standard deviations of the migration times of substituted benzenes for intraday, interday, and column-to-column were all lower than 5.8%. These results reveal that NHP-MOFs can effectively combine the advantages of the high specific surface area of microporous MOFs and the excellent mass transfer performance and abundant accessible interaction sites of NHP materials, possessing great prospect for high-performance chromatographic separation.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the clinical effect of tonsillectomy on IgA nephropathy (IgAN) after renal transplantation. Methods: From March 2011 to July 2018, 201 kidney transplantation recipients who were diagnosed of IgAN by transplant renal biopsy in the Department of Organ Transplantation of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were retrospectively reviewed, of which 18 patients underwent tonsillectomy after renal biopsy. The clinical data of the 18 patients were collected, patient and kidney survival time and function of the transplanted kidney were analyzed. Results: Of the 18 recipients, 13 were male and 5 were female, with an average age of (36.0±10.9) years. All 18 patients survived during follow-up. Two patients returned to dialysis treatment 10 months and 14 months after tonsillectomy, respectively. The creatinine was 94 (78, 133) μmol/L, 95 (74, 139) μmol/L, 106 (87, 158) μmol/L and 95(81, 147) μmol/L before tonsillectomy, 3 months, 1 year and 2 years after tonsillectomy, respectively (P=0.206). Urinary protein quantification was 0.31 (0.16, 1.38) g/24 h, 0.34 (0.10, 1.42) g/24 h, 0.33 (0.11, 0.56) g/24 h and 0.25 (0.10, 0.50) g/24 h at the same time points, respectively (P=0.104). The two patients who returned to dialysis were diagnosed of IgAN by transplant renal biopsy because of elevated creatinine, proteinuria and hematuria, 9 years and 4 years after kidney transplant respectively. Renal biopsy suggested that glomerular and segmental sclerosis were 7/24, 5/24 and 1/6, 2/6, respectively. Additionally, interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA) were both occupied 30% in the biopsies, and tonsillectomy was performed 461 days and 1 077 days after diagnosis of IgAN, respectively. Conclusions: Tonsillectomy can maintain the stability of renal function and prevent the aggravation of proteinuria in IgAN patients after renal transplantation. However, if pathology suggests obvious glomerulosclerosis or IF/TA, tonsillectomy may not be effective.

Abstract
In recent years, mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) based materials have been widely used as stationary phases for open-tubular capillary electrochromatography (OT-CEC) because of their various excellent properties. Nevertheless, the traditional synthesis routes of functionalized PDA-based capillary columns usually are time-consuming and limited in aqueous solutions. Herein, we report a facile and rapid route to prepare octadecylamine (ODA) functionalized PDA coated OT-CEC columns in organic solvents via a novel one-step in situ solvothermal-assisted coating strategy. Through this developed solvothermal-assisted approach, the growth rate of ODA/PDA coating was significantly speeded up and their hybrid coating process on the capillary inner surface could be rapidly completed in 60 min. The successful preparation of the solvothermal-assisted ODA/PDA hybrid coating were systematically characterized and confirmed by several methods. The influence of the preparation parameters on the formation of hybrid coating and the separation ability of the ODA/PDA modified columns were systematically explored. Consequently, the high-efficiency baseline separation of four kinds of neutral, acidic and basic analytes were achieved based on the ODA/PDA modified columns. The repeatability of the solvothermal-assisted ODA/PDA coated column was also studied, and the relative standard deviations for intra-day, inter-day and column-to-column were all less than 5%. Additionally, the solvothermal-assisted ODA/PDA modified column exhibited good stability and long lifetime.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects and the mechanism of FoxO6 on the proliferation and invasion of colorectal cancer cells. Methods: FoxO6 siRNA was transfected into colorectal cancer cell HCT116 and SW480. The overexpression vector pcDNA.3.1-c-Myc was constructed and co-transfected into HCT116 and SW480 cells with FoxO6 siRNA. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blot were used to detect the mRNA and protein expressions of FoxO6, c-Myc, and p21 in HCT116 and SW480 cells. Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was used to detect cell proliferation and Transwell assay was performed to detect the invasion ability of these cells. SW480 cells transfected with FoxO6 shRNA lentivirus (LV-FoxO6) and were injected into the right armpit of BAL b/c nude mice to construct a tumor-bearing mode and the tumor volumes were measured on the days of 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, and 25 after injection. Results: The FoxO6 mRNA were 0.91±0.04, 1.72±0.07, and 2.03±0.06, and protein expression were 0.70±0.04, 1.35±0.08, and 1.56±0.07 in normal colon cell FHC, colorectal cancer cells HT116 and SW480, respectively. The protein and mRNA levels of FoxO6 in HCT116 and SW480 were significantly higher than those in FHC (both P<0.05). Knockdown of FoxO6 in HCT116 and SW480 cells decreased the mRNA and protein expressions of FoxO6 (both P<0.05), the cell proliferation ability (absorbances were 0.26±0.07 and 0.27±0.06, both P<0.05), cell invasion ability (the invaded cell numbers were 42.3±3.3 and 45.7±4.1, both P<0.05), and the mRNA and protein expressions of c-Myc, while increased the mRNA and protein expressions of p21 (both P<0.01). Overexpression of Myc in FoxO6 silenced HCT116 and SW480 cells decreased the expression of p21, while increased the cell proliferation ability (absorbances were 0.54±0.09 and 0.58±0.07, both P<0.01) and invasion ability (the invaded cell numbers were 79.2±5.9 and 80.5±6.4, both P<0.01). On the 25th day after cell inoculation in nude mice, the tumor volume of LV-FoxO6 group was (190.6±36.2) mm(3), significantly lower than (437.8.6±69.2) mm(3) of LV-NC group (P<0.05). Conclusion: FoxO6 promotes the proliferation and invasion of colorectal cancer cells through facilitating c-Myc mediated p21 expression inhibition.

Abstract
Research links the built environment to health outcomes, but little is known about how this affects quality of life (QOL) of African American breast cancer patients, especially those residing in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Using latent trajectory models, we examined whether the built environment using Google Street View was associated with changes in QOL over a 2-year follow-up in 228 newly diagnosed African American breast cancer patients. We measured QOL using the RAND 36-Item Health Survey subscales. After adjusting for covariates, improvement in emotional well-being and pain over time was greater for women living on streets with low-quality (vs. high-quality) sidewalks.

Abstract
In recent years, photoluminescent (PL) carbon dots (CDs) have attracted enormous attention because of their many fascinating properties. However, the traditional synthesis routes of PL CDs usually suffer from relatively low quantum yields (QYs) and require complicated operation processes as well as lots of externally supplied energy. Herein, we report a room temperature, green, ultrafast and energy-efficient route for large scale synthesis of highly PL N, S-codoped CDs without any external energy supply. The N, S-codoped CDs are prepared through a novel carbon source self-heating strategy, using the sole precursor tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) simultaneously as the carbon, nitrogen and heat source, triggered by the heat initiator sodium persulfate (Na2S2O8). The large amount of heat released from Na2S2O8-triggered oxidation of TEPA could effectively promote the spontaneous polymerization and carbonization of TEPA precursors themselves as well as the in situ co-doping of sulfur, which had marked synergistic effects on the fluorescence enhancement of CDs, eventually leading to the high-yield (58.0%) preparation of highly fluorescent N, S-codoped CDs (QY 26.4%) at room temperature within 2 min. Moreover, the fluorescence of N, S-codoped CDs could be selectively quenched by Fe3+ ions in the presence of EDTA, in an ultra-wide range of 0.2-600 μM, with a detection limit of 0.10 μM. Ultimately, the fluorescent nanoprobe was successfully used for the quantitative detection of Fe3+ in human serum samples, indicating its great potential for sensing and biomedical applications.

Abstract
A novel chiral stationary phase (CSP) was prepared through the reaction of surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) by the copolymerization of thermoresponsive N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) on the silica beads for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental analysis (EA), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were applied to characterize the surface property of modified silica. Thermoresponsive modulation for the effect on enantioselectivity were investigated with chiral reagents including 1-phenyl-1-propanol, styrene oxide, 2-phenylpropionic acid and commercial chiral drugs comprising ibuprofen and labetalol hydrochloride. The column efficiency was evaluated by chromatographic parameters including retention factor (k), selective factor (α), resolution (Rs), plate number (N) and peak tailing factor (Tf). The results showed that five chiral solutes could be separated on the prepared smart column. And the selectivity of these compounds could be modulated by regulating the column temperature. It was contributed to the thermoresponsive NIPAM assisting β-CD to separate these chiral compounds. These results indicated that the thermoresponsive CSP would be a potential tool for separation of hydrophilic and hydrophobic chiral drugs and this paper provided a novel method for chiral separation in the future.
