Flake-like structure of SrTiO3 nanoparticles dispersed on graphene oxide: A selective and sensitive electrochemical sensor for determination of chloramphenicol in milk and honey samples

The use of Chloramphenicol (CAP), a potent antibiotic with broad-spectrum capabilities in food-producing animals has been restricted by the European Union and several other countries due to its severe side effects. Thus, CAP must be detected quickly and sensitively. In this investigation, the preparation of SrTiO3 nanoparticles was carried out utilizing a hydrothermal technique. The as-synthesized strontium titanate was decorated on the graphene oxide (SrTiO3/GO) using an ultrasonication method. An electrochemical sensor was developed by employing a modified electrode consisting of SrTiO3/GO, which can accurately detect CAP in food samples. The synergistic effect of SrTiO3 and GO could improve the peak current response. Remarkably, the SrTiO3/GO-modified glassy carbon electrode has a LOD and sensitivity of 6.08 µM nM and 2.771 µA·μM-1·cm-2, respectively. This modified electrode was evaluated in food samples and had an outstanding reaction with a high percentage of recovery, which makes it a potential electrocatalyst for CAP detection.

The High Stability and Selectivity of Electrochemical Sensor Using Low-Cost Diamond Nanoparticles for the Detection of Anti-Cancer Drug Flutamide in Environmental Samples

In this study, a novel electrochemical sensor was created by fabricating a screen-printed carbon electrode with diamond nanoparticles (DNPs/SPCE). The successful development of the sensor enabled the specific detection of the anti-cancer drug flutamide (FLT). The DNPs/SPCE demonstrated excellent conductivity, remarkable electrocatalytic activity, and swift electron transfer, all of which contribute to the advantageous monitoring of FLT. These qualities are critical for monitoring FLT levels in environmental samples. Various structural and morphological characterization techniques were employed to validate the formation of the DNPs. Remarkably, the electrochemical sensor demonstrated a wide linear response range (0.025 to 606.65 μM). Additionally, it showed a low limit of detection (0.023 μM) and high sensitivity (0.403 μA μM-1 cm-2). Furthermore, the practicability of DNPs/SPCE can be successfully employed in FLT monitoring in water bodies (pond water and river water samples) with satisfactory recoveries.

2D/2D heterostructure Ni-Fe LDH/black phosphorus nanosheets with AuNP for noxious substance diphenylamine detection in food samples

In this study, gold nanoparticles decorated on nickel-iron layered double hydroxide with black phosphorus nanosheets (AuNP/Ni-Fe LDH/BPNSs) composite were prepared using a stirring method. Analyte tracing is required for developing viable sensors. The AuNP/Ni-Fe LDH/BPNSs composite exhibited a large specific surface area, high conductivity, high electrocatalytic activity, and rapid electron transfer. These properties play a vital role in monitoring diphenylamine (DPA) in food samples. The formation of the AuNP/Ni-Fe LDH/BPNSs composite was confirmed using various structural and morphological characterization techniques. The electroanalytical character of the AuNP/Ni-Fe LDH/BPNSs composite was evaluated using voltammetry. Interestingly, the AuNP/Ni-Fe LDH/BPNSs showed a wide linear range of 0.0125-1003.82 μM and a detection limit of 4.63 nM with a sensitivity of 0.399 µA µM-1 cm-2. The constructed sensor shows considerable selectivity, stability, repeatability, and reproducibility, and the practicability of DPA was monitored in the apples, sweet tomatoes, pears, and grapes with satisfactory recoveries.

Individual and Simultaneous Electrochemical Detection of Allura Red and Acid Blue 9 in Food Samples Using a Novel La2YCrO6 Double Perovskite Decorated on HLNTs as an Electrocatalyst

The present study involved the synthesis of La2YCrO6 double perovskites using a sol-gel approach. Additionally, a sonication method was implemented to prepare La2YCrO6 double perovskites decorated on halloysites (La2YCrO6/HLNTs). The La2YCrO6/HLNTs exhibited remarkable conductivity, electrocatalytic activity, and rapid electron transfer. It is imperative to possess these characteristics when overseeing the concurrent identification of Allura red (AR) and acid blue 9 (AB) in food samples. The development of the La2YCrO6/HLNTs was verified through the utilization of diverse approaches for structural and morphological characterization. The electrochemical techniques were employed to evaluate the analytical techniques of La2YCrO6/HLNTs. Impressively, the La2YCrO6/HLNTs demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, yielding the lowest detection limit for AR at 8.99 nM and AB at 5.14 nM. Additionally, the linear concentration range was 10-120 nM (AR and AB). The sensor that was developed exhibited remarkable selectivity, and the feasibility of AR and AB in the food sample was effectively monitored, resulting in satisfactory recoveries.

Development of a Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Sensor Using Sm2CuZrO6 Double Perovskite as an Electrocatalyst for Determination of Risperidone Antipsychotic Drug in Tablet Samples

In this study, the preparation of Sm2CuZrO6 double perovskites was carried out through the utilization of a sol-gel technique. The Sm2CuZrO6 displayed notable conductivity, impressive electrocatalytic activity, and rapid electron transfer. The monitoring of risperidone (RIS) in tablet samples is greatly influenced by these properties. Various techniques for structural and morphological characterization were employed to confirm the formation of Sm2CuZrO6. The electrochemical properties of Sm2CuZrO6 were assessed through utilization of cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). Interestingly, the Sm2CuZrO6 exhibited a remarkable wide linear range of 50-500 nM, along with a detection limit of 10.62 nM. Notably, it demonstrated a sensitivity of 0.4038 μA μM-1 cm-2. The constructed sensor demonstrated noteworthy selectivity, stability, and repeatability. To assess the practicality of RIS, its performance was monitored in the tablet sample, resulting in satisfactory recoveries.

Highly responsive and sensitive non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor for the detection of β-NADH in food, environmental and biological samples using AuNP on polydopamine/titanium carbide composite

In this study, a polydopamine/titanium carbide adorned with gold nanoparticles (Au@PDA/TiC) composite was prepared by a simple stirring technique and it was used for the dual-technique detection of β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). The Au@PDA/TiC-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) oxidized NADH at a very low oxidation potential of approximately 0.60 V vs Ag/AgCl in pH = 7.0 (0.1 M PBS) via the transfer of two electrons and one proton (from NADH to NAD⁺). Based on the (i-t) amperometry mode, NADH can be quantified with a linear range of 0.018-674 μM and LOD of 0.0062 µM. In addition to the DPV mode, the electrochemical sensor had a linearity of 5-450 µM with a LOD of 3.17 µM. The developed sensor exhibited remarkable analytical performances concerning high sensitivity, electrocatalytic activity, low detection limit, wide linearity, appreciable specificity, repeatability, stability, reproducibility, and adequate recovery results in food, environmental and biological samples.

A Sandwich-Type Electrochemical Immunosensor for Insulin Detection Based on Au-Adhered Cu5 Zn8 Hollow Porous Carbon Nanocubes and AuNP Deposited Nitrogen-Doped Holey Graphene

Rapid, accurate, and sensitive insulin detection is crucial for managing and treating diabetes. A simple sandwich-type electrochemical immunosensor is engineered using gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-adhered metal-organic framework-derived copper-zinc hollow porous carbon nanocubes (Au@Cu₅ Zn₈ /HPCNC) and AuNP-deposited nitrogen-doped holey graphene (NHG) are used as a dual functional label and sensing platform. The results show that identical morphology and size of Au@Cu₅ Zn₈ /HPCNC enhance the electrocatalytic active sites, conductivity, and surface area to immobilize the detection antibodies (Ab₂ ). In addition, AuNP/NHG has the requisite biocompatibility and electrical conductivity, which facilitates electron transport and increases the surface area of the capture antibody (Ab₁ ). Significantly, Cu₅ Zn₈ /HPCNC exhibits necessary catalytic activity and sensitivity for the electrochemical reduction of H₂ O₂ using (i-t) amperometry and improves the electrochemical response in differential pulse voltammetry. Under optimal conditions, the immunosensor for insulin demonstrates a wide linear range with a low detection limit and viable specificity, stability, and reproducibility. The platform's practicality is evaluated by detecting insulin in human serum samples. All these characteristics indicate that the Cu₅ Zn₈ /HPCNC-based biosensing strategy may be used for the point-of-care assay of diverse biomarkers.

Congenital syphilitic hepatitis

Hepatitis is a known manifestation of congenital syphilis, however hepatitis developing during penicillin therapy is unknown. Ten patients of congenital syphilis were studied and serial liver enzymes were done before and after starting penicillin therapy. Eight of the ten patients developed hepatitis after initiating penicillin therapy. Whether hepatitis in these cases was secondary to toxic reaction to the products of treponemal lysis or an autoimmune reaction needs to be investigated.
