Abstract
A new disaccharide glycoside, franchoside A (1), and 17 known compounds were isolated from the tubers of Arisaema franchetianum Engler. The chemical structure of the previously undescribed compound 1 was elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analyses. Compounds 1, 2, 6, 10, 14 and 18 showed significant cytotoxic activities at varying IC50 values in the range of 4.0-10.6 μM against five cancer cell lines. Compounds 8, 10, 13 and 17 (10 μM) exhibited moderate anti-inflammatory activities by inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway and the release of NO from RAW264.7 macrophages induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), while compounds 1, 9, 14, 15 and 16 showed weak anti-inflammatory activities.

Abstract
Gastric cancer (GC) is a major global health concern with poor outcomes. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein U (HNRNPU) is a multifunctional protein that participates in pre-mRNA packaging, alternative splicing regulation, and chromatin remodeling. Its potential role in GC remains unclear. In this study, the expression characteristics of HNRNPU were analyzed by The Cancer Genome Atlas data, Gene Expression Omnibus data, and then further identified by real-time quantitative PCR and immunohistochemistry using tissue specimens. From superficial gastritis, atrophic gastritis, and hyperplasia to GC, the in situ expression of HNRNPU protein gradually increased, and the areas under the curve for diagnosis of GC and its precancerous lesions were 0.911 and 0.847, respectively. A nomogram integrating HNRNPU expression, lymph node metastasis, and other prognostic indicators exhibited an area under the curve of 0.785 for predicting survival risk. Knockdown of HNRNPU significantly inhibited GC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and promoted apoptosis in vitro. In addition, RNA-sequencing analysis showed that HNRNPU could affect alternative splicing events in GC cells, with functional enrichment analysis revealing that HNRNPU may exert malignant biological function in GC progression through alternative splicing regulation. In summary, the increased expression of HNRNPU was significantly associated with the development of GC, with a good performance in diagnosing and predicting the prognostic risk of GC. Functionally, HNRNPU may play an oncogenic role in GC by regulating alternative splicing.

Abstract
To study the characteristics of heart rate rhythm in pregnant women at different trimester of pregnancy, and to explore the relationship between the basic rhythm of heart rate and pregnancy complications. Thirteen pregnant women who were diagnosed with normal early pregnancy in the Reproductive Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from June 2018 to December 2019 were prospectively selected. Personal files were created and the heart rate data of pregnancy women was collected 24 hours a day by wearable devices until delivery. Prenatal examination and pregnancy outcomes were surveyed at follow-up. The cosine analysis method and the designed statistical module were used to analyze the long-term rhythm of pregnant women's heart rate. The heart rate of pregnant women showed a significant rhythm at different gestational weeks. Compared with the gestational week of 12, the midline-estimating statistic of rhythm(MESOR) increased significantly at the gestational week of 28 and 32 (t=-2.751,P=0.013;t=-2.314,P=0.032).The phase of rhythm shifted from 14∶00 pm in the first trimester of pregnancy (12 weeks) to 16∶00 pm in the second trimester (24 weeks) (t=2.613,P=0.018) and returned to 14∶00 pm at the third trimester (32 weeks) (t=-2.176,P=0.046). Season had no significant effect on the changes of MESOR, amplitude and phase of maternal heart rate in the first trimester (t=-0.356,P=0.729;t=-0.777,P=0.464;t=-0.434,P=0.673), while season had no significant effect on the changes of MESOR, amplitude and phase in the third trimester (t=-0.663,P=0.532;t=-0.209,P=0.841;t=0.625,P=0.592). The heart rate of one pregnant woman with natural delivery had rhythm disorder from the start of labor to delivery. The heart rate of one pregnant woman with premature rupture of membranes showed rhythm disorder before and after the rupture of membranes, and smaller amplitude. Rhythm disturbance may play a suggestive role in preterm delivery and labor initiation. In conclusion, pregnancy may cause changes in the internal heart rate rhythm. Maternal internal rhythm disturbance may occur when delivery or premature rupture of membranes occurs. The heart rate rhythm of pregnant women may be related to some common complications of pregnancy such as premature rupture of membranes.

Abstract
This study takes Cushing's syndrome, a rare disease, as a model, and adopts the path of "Plan, Do, Check, Action" (PDCA) to explore new methods to optimize the clinical path, can improve the quality and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases. After sorting out the problems existing in the previous diagnosis and treatment mode, our team optimizes the path in various ways and establishes a standard operation procedure (SOP) for the new path. In the evaluation of the optimized mode, 55 patients with Cushing's syndrome were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, including 19 males and 36 females, aged (41.8±14.4) years (6-68 years). The pathway group (28 cases) and the control group (27 cases) were divided according to whether they were included in the new path management at the time of admission, and the effect of path optimization was assessed in terms of time, efficacy, safety and cost. The results showed that compared with the control group, the pathway group had a shorter time of hospitalization in the Department of Endocrinology and critical tests, such as blood cortisol rhythm, low-dose dexamethasone inhibition test, and bilateral inferior petrosal sinus sampling (all P<0.05). There was no significant differences in the decrease of total cortisol after operation, the incidence of postoperative complications, and hospitalization expenses (all P>0.05). The optimized path improves the medical efficiency while ensuring medical quality, safety and no increase in cost. This study proposes PDCA path optimization for complex diseases and establishes SOP process, which provides experience in management optimization for the patient-centered and clinical path-oriented diagnosis and treatment mode of rare diseases.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between the long-non-coding RNA LINC00342 expression and the clinicopathological parameters of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and the biological function of LINC00342 in HNSCC cells. Methods: The expression level of LINC00342 in the HNSCC was analyzed using transcriptome sequencing data from TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) database, and the expressions of LINC00342 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues (LSCC) of 27 patients in the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University were detected by transcriptome sequencing. The expression levels of LINC00342 in human embryonic lung diploid cells 2BS, HNSCC cell lines FD-LSC-1, CAL-27 and Detroit562 were determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). RNAi (RNA interference) was used for LINC00342 knockdown in HNSCC cell lines, and the changes of malignant phenotype in the tumor cells after LINC00342 knockdown were examined by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation, flow cytometry, transwell invasion and migration assays. Bioinformatics analysis was performed to construct a LINC00342-centered competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network, and GO (Gene Ontology) enrichment analysis was performed. Statistical analysis and graphing were performed using SPSS 25.0 software and GraphPad Prism 6 software. Results: Mean LINC00342 levels in HNSCC tissues and TCGA database were higher than that in normal control tissues, but with no significantly statistical difference (P=0.522). LINC00342 expression levels were positively correlated with cervical lymph node metastasis and pathological grade in patients with HNSCC, with higher expression in male patients than in female patients (P<0.05). Transcriptome sequencing analysis showed that mean expression level of LINC00342 in LSCC tissues of 27 patients was significantly higher than that in the paired adjacent normal mucosa tissues (t=1.56, P=0.036). LINC00342 expression was significantly upregulated in HNSCC cell lines FD-LSC-1, CAL-27 and Detroit562 (t-values of -12.17, -23.26 and -388.57, respectively; all P<0.001). Knockdown of LINC00342 by transfecting si-LINC00342-1 and si-LINC00342-2 inhibited HNSCC cell proliferation (t-values of 8.95 and 4.84, 2.70 and 5.55, 2.02 and 3.70, respectively), colony formation (t-values of 6.66 and 6.17, 7.38 and 11.65, 4.90 and 5.79, respectively), migration (t-values of 8.21 and 7.19, 5.76 and 6.46, 6.28 and 9.92, respectively) and invasion abilities (t-values of 9.29 and 10.25, 11.30 and 11.36, 8.02 and 8.66, respectively), but promoting apoptosis in cell lines FD-LSC-1 and CAL-27 (t-values of -2.21 and -5.83, -3.05 and -5.25 respectively) (all P-values<0.05). The LINC00342-centered ceRNA network consists of 10 downregulated microRNA and 647 upregulated mRNA nodes. GO analysis results indicated that LINC00342-regulated mRNAs were enriched in 22 biological processes, 32 molecular functions, and 12 cellular components. Conclusion: High level of LINC00342 is associated with the malignant progression of HNSCC. LINC00342 promotes the proliferation, migration, invasion, and antagonizes apoptosis of HNSCC cells, which serves as a potential molecular marker in HNSCC.

Abstract
Four undescribed flavonoid glucosides (iridins B-C, tectoridin A and ampelopsinin A); one undescribed phenolic glucoside (diplostephioside B); one undescribed phenolic compound (phenanthrenetriol A); and seventeen known compounds were isolated from the rhizomes of Iris domestica. The chemical structures of the undescribed compounds were established by spectroscopic/spectrometric data interpretation using HRESIMS, NMR, and ECD. Tectoridin A, nigricin A and naringenin exhibited anti-inflammatory activities with inhibition rates of 53.71%, 57.68% and 88.71%, respectively, against the NF-κB signaling pathway at a concentration of 10 μM. 4'-O-methylnyasol (10 μM) exhibited 84.91% antiproliferative activity against the K562 human leukemia cell line with an IC50 value of 4.20 μM.

Abstract
In the egg production industry, trace elements are required as additional dietary supplements to play vital roles in performance and egg quality. Compared to inorganic microelements (ITs), appropriate dose of organic trace microelements (OTs) are environmentally friendly and sufficient to satisfy the needs of hens. In order to evaluate the extent to which low-dose OTs replace whole ITs, the effects of organic copper, zinc, manganese, and iron compound on the performance, eggshell quality, antioxidant capacity, immune function, and mineral deposition of old laying hens were investigated. A total of 1 080 57-week-old Jing Hong laying hens were assigned to five groups with six replicates of 36 layers each for an 8-week experimental period. The birds were fed either a basal diet (control treatment (CT)) or the basal diet supplemented with commercial levels of inorganic trace elements (IT 100%) or the equivalent organic trace elements at 20%, 30%, and 50% of the inorganic elements (OT 20%, OT 30%, and OT 50%, respectively). Results showed that compared with those in the CT treatment, feeding hens with inorganic or organic microelement diet had significant effects on the eggshell quality, antioxidant capacity, immune function, and mineral deposition of old laying hens (P < 0.05). The eggshell strength and ratio between OT 30%, OT 50%, and IT 100% were similar at weeks 4 and 8, and the eggshell thickness of these groups was also similar at weeks 6 and 8. At week 8, the eggshell colour in OT 50% was darker than that in IT 100%. The mineral content in the eggshells of OT 50% and IT 100% significantly increased (P < 0.001), with no significant difference in effective thickness, mammillary thickness, and mammillary knob width between groups. There were no differences in the malondialdehyde content, total antioxidant capacity, and total superoxide dismutase activity in serum between OT 30%, OT 50%, and IT100%. While the catalase activities, the interleukin-1β, interleukin-10, immunoglobulin G, and immunoglobulin M concentrations in serum were not significantly different between OT 50% and IT 100%. The mineral contents in the faeces of the organic groups were considerably reduced compared with those in IT 100% (P < 0.001). In conclusion, dietary supplementation with 30-50% organic compound microelements has the potential to replace 100% inorganic microelements in the hen industry for improving eggshell quality, mineral deposition in the eggshell, antioxidant capacity, and immune function, and reducing emissions to the environment without negative effects on laying performance.

Abstract
Inulae Flos was widely distributed throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia, and was commonly used as a folk medicine in clinic for treating various respiratory diseases, including cough, asthma, bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis, and pneumonia. However, the ingredients responsible for the pharmacology effects of I. Flos and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, the effects of 16 known sesquiterpene lactones and flavonoids from I. Flos on TGF-β1-induced fibroblast activation were assessed by phenotypic high-content screening. Among those sixteen compounds, 1β-hydroxy alantolactone (HAL), the main characteristic sesquiterpene lactone from I. Flos, exhibited remarkable inhibitory activity. The further studies showed that HAL significantly inhibited the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of human fibroblast cell lines HELF and MRC-5 in a concentration-dependent manner. It also reduced intracellular ROS production, suppressed the mRNA expressions of E-cad, TGF-β1, Smad3, Col I, α-SMA and TNF-α, and downregulated protein expressions of α-SMA and F-actin. Furthermore, HAL significantly reduced the levels of HA, LN, PC-III and IV-C in serum, TNF-α and IL-6 in BALF, and TGF-β1, HYP and Col I in lung tissues of bleomycin (BLM)-treated rats. HAL significantly downregulated the expressions of p-JNK, FOXO1, p-p65, α-SMA, p-smad3 and Col I but upregulated p-FOXO1, which could be reversed by JNK agonist anisomycin. These results demonstrated that HAL induced the apoptosis of lung fibroblast cells activated by TGF-β1 and improved BLM-induced lung fibrosis in rats via inhibiting JNK/FOXO1/NF-κB pathway.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inconsistencies remain regarding the effectiveness and safety of leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs) and selective H1-antihistamines (SAHs) for allergic rhinitis (AR). A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to compare the medications. METHODS Relevant head-to-head comparative RCTs were retrieved by searching the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane's Library databases from inception to April 20, 2020. A random-effects model was applied to pool the results. Subgroup analyses were performed for seasonal and perennial AR. RESULTS Fourteen RCTs comprising 4458 patients were included. LTRAs were inferior to SAHs in terms of the daytime nasal symptoms score (mean difference [MD]: 0.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.02 to 0.08, p = 0.003, I2 = 89%) and daytime eye symptoms score (MD: 0.05, 95% CI 0.01 to 0.08, p = 0.009, I2 = 89%), but were superior in terms of the nighttime symptoms score (MD: - 0.04, 95% CI - 0.06 to - 0.02, p < 0.001, I2 = 85%). The effects of the two treatments on the composite symptom score (MD: 0.02, 95% CI - 0.02 to 0.05, p = 0.30, I2 = 91%) and rhinoconjunctivitis quality-of-life questionnaire (RQLQ) (MD: 0.01, 95% CI - 0.05 to 0.07, p = 0.71, I2 = 99%) were similar. Incidences of adverse events were comparable (odds ratio [OR]: 0.97, 95% CI 0.75 to 1.25, p = 0.98, I2 = 0%). These results were mainly obtained from studies on seasonal AR. No significant publication bias was detected. CONCLUSIONS Although both treatments are safe and effective in improving the quality of life (QoL) in AR patients, LTRAs are more effective in improving nighttime symptoms but less effective in improving daytime nasal symptoms compared to SAHs.

Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a severe, highly heterogeneous, and life-threatening psychiatric disease which affects up to 21% of the population worldwide. A new hypothesis suggests that the mitochondrial dysfunction causing oxidative stress (OS) and dysregulation of apoptosis in brain might be one of the key pathophysiological factors in MDD. Histidine triad nucleotide binding protein 1 (HINT1), which was first supposed to be protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, has been gradually demonstrated to be involved in diverse neuropsychiatric diseases. It still remains elusive that how HINT1 involves in depression. The present study utilized a rat model exposed to chronic mild stress (CMS) to explore the involvement of HINT1 in depression. Face validity, construct validity and predictive validity of CMS model were comprehensive evaluated in this study. Behavioral tests including sucrose preference test, open field test, and elevated plus maze and forced swimming test revealed that stressed rats displayed elevated level of anxiety and depression compared with the controls. CMS rats showed a significant decrease of superoxide dismutase, and a marked increase malondialdehyde levels in prefrontal cortex (PFC). We also found the CMS rats had elevated expression of HINT1, decreased levels of phosphorylated-PKC ε and aldehyde dehydrogenase-two (ALDH-2), and accumulated 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNE) in PFC. Moreover, CMS increased the levels of cleaved caspase-3 and Bax, and decreased the level of Bcl-2 in PFC. The alterations in behavior and molecule were prevented by antidepressant venlafaxine. These results demonstrated that HINT1 was involved in the CMS elicited OS and apoptosis in PFC, probably through the PKC ε/ALDH-2/4HNE pathway. The results suggest that the suppression of HINT1 might have potential as a novel therapeutic strategy for depression.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the changes of interleukin-35 (IL-35) level and CD14+monocytes function in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods: A total of 74 patients with CHF who were hospitalized in the Department of Cardiology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between July 2018 and June 2019 as well as 29 healthy controls (HC) were continuously enrolled. 20 ml fasting anticoagulant peripheral blood was collected in the morning, and plasma was separated. IL-35 level was measured by ELISA. Peripheral CD14+monocytes were purified, and the IL-35 receptor subunits (IL-12Rβ2 and gp130 mRNA) relative levels were semi-quantified by real-time PCR. CD14+monocytes were stimulated with IL-35, and were cultured in direct contact or indirect contact with human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). Cytokines and granzyme B secretion in the supernatants was measured by ELISA. The percentage of HUVEC death was calculated by measuring lactate dehydrogenase level. The difference of the above indicators were compared between the CHF group and the HC group. Results: The age for the CHF group was (59.4±12.1) years, and 58.1% (43 cases) of them were males. The age for the HC group was (53.9±9.8) years, and 65.5% (19 cases) of them were males. The plasma IL-35 level was higher in the CHF group than the HC group ((22.89±7.58) mg/L vs (16.42±5.47) mg/L, P<0.001). The gp130 mRNA relative level was also higher in the CHF group than the HC group (1.07±0.19 vs 0.98±0.15, P=0.022). CD14+monocytes induced HUVEC death in the CHF group was lower in both direct contact and indirect contact culture system than the HC group (both P<0.001). The granzyme B secretion was also lower in the CHF group than the HC group (P<0.001). The CD14+monocytes induced HUVEC death was down-regulated in response to granzyme B inhibition (P=0.011). Both the CD14+monocytes induced HUVEC death and the granzyme B secretion were reduced in response to IL-35 stimulation (both P<0.001). Conclusion: CHF patients have the elevated IL-35 expression. IL-35 induces CD14+monocytes dysfunction via the inhibition of granzyme B secretion. This process promoted the progression of heart failure.

Abstract
We aimed to investigate whether dietary supplementation of methionine could mitigate intestinal oxidative injury in broilers under high stocking density (HSD). In the grower phase (d 22–42), 576 broilers with similar body weight were randomly chosen and divided into 8 groups in a 2 × 4 factorial experiment. Two different stocking densities (14 and 20 broilers per m2) were tested with 4 different methionine levels: 0.35%, 0.4%, 0.45%, or 0.5%. Intestinal morphological and oxidative stress markers were assessed at the end of the test period. The results showed that mortality of broilers was significantly higher in the HSD group fed 0.35% methionine diet than the other groups, which was reversed by supplementation with 0.40% to 0.50% methionine. HSD significantly decreased feed intake and daily weight gain. HSD treatment significantly decreased T-AOC, activity of GPX (P < 0.01) and increased the level of PCO (P < 0.01), MDA (P = 0.052) of plasma. The decreased glutathione peroxidase activity in the liver and jejunum caused by HSD was alleviated by additional methionine. Supplementation of methionine increased the ration of GSH/GSSG in the plasma. The jejunum villus height and ratio of villus height to crypt depth under low stocking density conditions with 0.40% methionine diet were the highest, whereas the 0.45% methionine group was the highest under HSD conditions. Thus, additional dietary supplementation of methionine mitigates oxidative stress in broilers under HSD conditions and 0.40% to 0.45% methionine can be applied in cage rearing broiler production for amelioration of oxidative stress caused by HSD.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of the primary tumor size in patients with endometrial carcinoma (EC). Methods: A total of 385 patients with EC admitted to Peking University People's Hospital from January 2006 to December 2016 with complete follow up data were selected, whose tumor size data before biopsy were retrospectively studied. Results: (1) The mean diameter of the primary tumor was (3.6±1.8) cm (range: 1-15 cm). And 48 cases were 0-<2 cm, 78 cases were 2-<3 cm, 92 cases were 3-<4 cm, 73 cases were 4-<5 cm, 94 cases were ≥5 cm. The diameter of the tumor was associated with age <60 years old, premenopause, CA125≥35 kU/L, non-parturition, poor differentiation, stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ, depth of myometrial infiltration ≥1/2, cervical interstitial involvement, adnexal metastasis and lymph node metastasis (all P<0.05), but not associated with body mass index, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, pathology, lymph-vascular space invasion (all P>0.05). (2) Among the 334 patients underwent lymphadenectomy, 45 (13.5%, 45/334) cases with lymph node metastasis were observed. Stratified analysis showed that lymph node metastasis and recurrence rate of patients with EC gradually increased with the increase of tumor size (P<0.05). Adopting 2, 3, 4 and 5 cm as cut-off values of tumor size, there were significant differences in the rate of lymph node metastasis and recurrence among them observed (P<0.05), except for lymph node metastasis rate and recurrence rate when the cut-off value was 2 cm (P>0.05). (3) An receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that a tumor diameter of 4.25 cm was the cut-off prognostic value to predict lymph node metastasis and recurrence of EC. Conclusions: Tumor diameter is significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and recurrence in patients with EC. Tumor size should be considered in determining the scope of surgery and adjuvant therapy.

Abstract
Chemotherapy causes various side effects, including cognitive impairment, known as 'chemobrain'. In this study, we determined whether a novel acupuncture mode called electroacupuncture trigeminal nerve stimulation plus body acupuncture (EA/TNS + BA) could produce better outcomes than minimum acupuncture stimulation (MAS) as controls in treating chemobrain and other symptoms in breast cancer patients. In this assessor- and participant-blinded, randomized controlled trial, 93 breast cancer patients under or post chemotherapy were randomly assigned to EA/TNS + BA (n = 46) and MAS (n = 47) for 2 sessions per week over 8 weeks. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) served as the primary outcome. Digit span test was the secondary outcomes for attentional function and working memory. The quality of life and multiple functional assessments were also evaluated. EA/TNS + BA treated group had much better performance than MAS-treated group on reverse digit span test at Week 2 and Week 8, with medium effect sizes of 0.53 and 0.48, respectively, although no significant differences were observed in MoCA score and prevalence of chemobrain between the two groups. EA/TNS + BA also markedly reduced incidences of diarrhoea, poor appetite, headache, anxiety, and irritation, and improved social/family and emotional wellbeing compared to MAS. These results suggest that EA/TNS + BA may have particular benefits in reducing chemotherapy-induced working memory impairment and the incidence of certain digestive, neurological, and distress-related symptoms. It could serve as an effective intervention for breast cancer patients under and post chemotherapy (trial registration: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov: NCT02457039).

Abstract
Biomimetic total syntheses of baefrutones A-D (1-4), baeckenon B (5), and frutescones A, D-F (6-9), isolated from the leaves of Baeckea frutescens, were achieved in 9, 8, and 5 steps, respectively, in moderate to good yields (72-83%). The synthetic routes feature the Michael addition, oxidative [4 + 2] cycloaddition, and water-promoted Diels-Alder click reactions as the key steps. This study helped gain thorough mechanistic insights into the biosynthetic origins and provided a facile approach for the construction of a library of natural tasmanone-based meroterpenoid analogues. Moreover, compounds 1-9 show potent inhibitory effects against S. paratyphi and/or C. albicans with MIC values of 3.125-25 μg mL-1, and they could be promising lead molecules for the design of new antibiotic agents.

Abstract
Emerging evidence indicates that obesity impairs granulosa cell (GC) function, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Gene expression profiles in GC of non-polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) obese (NPO), PCOS obese (PO), PCOS normal weight (PN) and non-PCOS normal weight (NPN) patients were analysed by microarray analysis. Compared with the NPN group, there were 16, 545 and 416 differently expressed genes in the NPO, PO and PN groups respectively. CD36 was the only intersecting gene, with greater than two fold changes in expression between the NPO versus NPN and PO versus NPN comparisons, and was not present in the PN versus NPN comparison. In addition, levels of CD36 protein were higher in GC from obese than normal weight patients. Furthermore, CD36 overexpression in a GC line inhibited cell proliferation, as determined by the cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) test, promoted cell apoptosis, as determined by flow cytometry, and inhibited the secretion of oestradiol by depositing triglyceride in cells and increasing cellular lipid peroxide levels. These adverse effects were reduced by sulfo-N-succinimidyloleate, a specific inhibitor of CD36. Together, the findings of this study suggest that obesity with and without PCOS should be regarded as separate entities, and that CD36 overexpression in GC of obese patients is one of the mechanisms by which obesity impairs GC function.

Abstract
Objective:The aim of this study is to analysis the correlation between nasal and eye symptom and psychological status in patients with allergic rhinitis, in order to provide a basis for improving the mental health of patients. Method:The nasal symptom score scale, eye symptom score scale and Kessler 10 were used in the study, and the survey data was analyzed. Result:At least one of 147 patients had a nasal symptom at a rate of 100% (147/147); at least one ocular symptom was 86.4% (127/147). Of the 147 patients, 29 had K10 scores more than 21.The nasal symptom including nasal congestion, itching, eye pain, eye swelling, tearing positively correlated with K10 total score. Conclusion:The clinical staffs must pay attention to the mental health status of AR patients, strengthen the assessment of nasal symptoms, eye symptoms and mental status, and give targeted intervention to patients with poor mental health.

Abstract
As a common chronic disease, allergic rhinitis (AR) not only damage the physical health of the patients, but also bring psychological distress to the patients. Thus the comprehensive treatment should include both medical and mental health interventions as needed. In order to draw more attention to the mental status of the patients with AR and provide the basis for the researchers to choose reasonable AR psychological assessment tools, in this article, we evaluated the commonly used scales for the psychological status of AR patients, and the reason and significance of the psychological assessment in patients with AR were also reviewed.

In this paper, the commonly used allergic rhinitis life quality questionnaires and selection principle have been introduced, and hope that the appropriate questionnaires for patients would be selected for the study of the life quality.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic reoperation for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) recurred form previous anti-reflux surgery. METHODS Totally 19 patients received laparoscopic reoperation for symptomatic and anatomic recurred GERD in Department of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Rocket Force General Hospital from January 2008 to September 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 12 male and 7 female patients. The average reoperation age was (48±14) years, the average duration of reoperation from original ones was (43±38) months. The patients underwent preoperative barium, endoscopy, manometry and 24-hour pH studies. Laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair plus fundoplication was carried out for reoperation. Gastroesophageal reflux related symptoms (reflux, heartburn, chest pain, chough, wheezing, chest tightness and globus sensation) before and after surgery were compared by a questionnaire. The patients' medication consumption, complications and satisfaction of the reoperation were investigated as well. The repeated measures analysis of variance was used for statistical comparison of data preoperatively and postoperatively. RESULTS No major complication and death occurred. Six cases (32%) had complications such as diarrhea, increased passing wind, flatulence, dysphagia and abdominal pain. The GERD related symptom score of reflux, heartburn, chest pain, chough, wheezing, chest tightness and globus sensation all significantly decreased (F: 25.0 to 56.7; P: 0.000 to 0.001) after the reoperation, with 68% good outcome of all the patients. After a follow-up of (33±22) months after reoperation, 1 case had partial recurrence at the 3(rd) month after reoperation. For all the patients, 12 cases felt very satisfied or satisfied with the reoperation. CONCLUSION Laparoscopic reoperation is generally effective with acceptable morbidity rates for patients with esophageal and extraesophageal symptoms recurred form previous hiatal repair and (or) fundoplication.

Abstract
Glycine betaine is an important quaternary ammonium compound that is produced in response to several abiotic stresses in many organisms. The synthesis of glycine betaine requires the catalysis of betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH), which can convert betaine aldehyde into glycine betaine in plants, especially in halotolerant plants. In this study, we isolated the full-length cDNA of BADH from Suaeda corniculata (ScBADH) using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. Next, we analyzed the expression profile of ScBADH using real-time PCR. The results showed that ScBADH expression was induced in the roots, stems, and leaves of S. corniculata seedlings under salt and drought stress. Next, ScBADH was overexpressed in Arabidopsis, resulting in the transgenic plants exhibiting enhanced tolerance over wild-type plants under salt and drought stress. We then analyzed the levels of glycine betaine and proline, as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, during salt stress in WT and transgenic Arabidopsis. The results indicated that overexpression of ScBADH produced more glycine betaine and proline, and increased SOD activity under NaCl treatment. Our results suggest that ScBADH might be a positive regulator in plants during the response to NaCl.

Abstract
The regulatory region of the ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase small subunit gene SRS4 from soybean (Glycine max) was cloned using TAIL-PCR and general PCR, and named the rbcS promoter. The promoter was fused with the GUS gene and introduced into Nicotiana tabacum via Agrobacterium-mediated leaf disk transformation. In 4-week-old transgenic tobacco plants, the highest GUS expression levels were observed in the leaves, GUS activity was 7.13- and 7.40-fold higher in leaves than in stems and roots, respectively. Moreover, GUS activity was stimulated by light. In conclusion, spatial and light regulation of the soybean rbcS promoter was observed in N. tabacum, thus illustrating a leaf-specific and light-induced promoter.

Abstract
In order to detect the freeze injury stress level of winter wheat growing in natural environment fast and accurately, the present paper takes winter wheat as experimental object. First winter wheat canopy hyperspectral data were treated with resampling smooth Second hyperspectral data were analyzed based on principal components analysis (PCA), a freeze injury inversion model was established, stems survival rate was dependent, and principal components of spectral data were chosen as independent variables. Third, the precision of the model was testified. The result showed that the freeze injury inversion model based on 6 principal components can estimate the winter wheat freeze injury accurately with the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0. 697 5, root mean square error (RMSE) of 0. 184 2, and the accuracy of 0. 697 5. And the model was verified. It can be concluded that the PCA technology has been shown to be very promising in detecting winter wheat freeze injury effectively, and provide important reference for detecting other stress on crop.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neurodermatitis is a common chronic skin disease. Although not life-threatening, it can produce an important psychosocial burden, sleep disturbance and sexual dysfunction. Patients with neurodermatitis tend to have poor social skills or interpersonal resources and a lack of flexibility. However quality of life (QoL) of patients with neurodermatitis has seldom investigated. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of neurodermatitis on patients' QoL using the Dermatology Life Quality Index questionnaire, and assess its feasibility and internal consistency. METHODS One hundred and fifty consecutive outpatients seeking treatment for neurodermatitis and 250 patients with psoriasis in the Department of Dermatology, the Second Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, were assessed for eligibility for this prospective study from July 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011. Demographic data and disease-related characteristics were collected. RESULTS The overall mean DLQI score for neurodermatits (9.34) was lower than that for psoriasis (13.32) (P < 0.001). Patients with neurodermatitis scored significantly lower for all items except Q1 (symptoms) and Q9 (sexual difficulties). No strong relationship between disease-related characteristics and quality of life could be found. The inter-item correlation averaged 0.415 and Cronbach's alpha was 0.889, indicating high internal consistency. CONCLUSION This is the first study to attempt to measure the impact of neurodermatitis for both male and female patients on QoL. Neurodermatitis moderately affected the QoL of the patients.

Abstract
Different interacting signaling modules involving Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent myosin light chain kinase, Ca(2+)-independent regulatory light chain phosphorylation, myosin phosphatase inhibition, and actin filament-based proteins are proposed as specific cellular mechanisms involved in the regulation of smooth muscle contraction. However, the relative importance of specific modules is not well defined. By using tamoxifen-activated and smooth muscle-specific knock-out of myosin light chain kinase in mice, we analyzed its role in tonic airway smooth muscle contraction. Knock-out of the kinase in both tracheal and bronchial smooth muscle significantly reduced contraction and myosin phosphorylation responses to K(+)-depolarization and acetylcholine. Kinase-deficient mice lacked bronchial constrictions in normal and asthmatic airways, whereas the asthmatic inflammation response was not affected. These results indicate that myosin light chain kinase acts as a central participant in the contractile signaling module of tonic smooth muscle. Importantly, contractile airway smooth muscles are necessary for physiological and asthmatic airway resistance.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Peripheral neuropathy associated with type 2 diabetes (DPN) is not widely modeled. We describe unique features of DPN in type 2 diabetic Zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) rats. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We evaluated the structural, electrophysiological, behavioral, and molecular features of DPN in ZDF rats and littermates over 4 months of hyperglycemia. The status of insulin signaling transduction molecules that might be interrupted in type 2 diabetes and selected survival-, stress-, and pain-related molecules was emphasized in dorsal root ganglia (DRG) sensory neurons. RESULTS ZDF rats developed slowing of motor sciatic-tibial and sensory sciatic digital conduction velocity and selective mechanical allodynia with preserved thermal algesia. Diabetic sural axons, preserved in number, developed atrophy, but there was loss of large-calibre dermal and small-calibre epidermal axons. In diabetic rats, insulin signal transduction pathways in lumbar DRGs were preserved or had trends toward upregulation: mRNA levels of insulin receptor beta-subunit (IRbeta), insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-1, and IRS-2. The numbers of neurons expressing IRbeta protein were also preserved. There were trends toward early rises of mRNA levels of heat shock protein 27 (HSP27), the alpha2delta1 calcium channel subunit, and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase in diabetes. Others were unchanged, including nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB; p50/p105) and receptor for advanced glycosylation endproducts (RAGE) as was the proportion of neurons expressing HSP27, NF-kappaB, and RAGE protein. CONCLUSIONS ZDF type 2 diabetic rats develop a distal degenerative sensory neuropathy accompanied by a selective long-term pain syndrome. Neuronal insulin signal transduction molecules are preserved.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The cardiac venous system possesses up to 30% of total coronary vascular resistance and the effect of hypoxia-reoxygenation (H-R) and St Thomas (ST) cardioplegic solution on the vein is unknown. We investigated the effects of H-R, with or without ST, on endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF)-mediated relaxation in porcine cardiac microveins under clinically relevant temperatures. METHODS The microveins (diameter 200 to 450 microM) mounted in a myograph were subjected to hypoxia (Po2 < 5 mm Hg) for 30 minutes in Krebs solution (n = 8) or for 60 minutes in Krebs (n = 8) or in ST at 37 degrees C (n = 8) or 4 degrees C (n = 8), followed by 30-minute reoxygenation. The microvein was precontracted with thromboxane A2 mimetic U46619 (-7 log M) and the EDHF-mediated relaxation was induced by bradykinin (-10 to -6 log M) in the presence of indomethacin, NG-nitro-L-arginine, and oxyhemoglobin before and after H-R. RESULTS The maximal EDHF-mediated relaxation was significantly reduced after 30-minute hypoxia (38.7 +/- 2.0% vs 61.1 +/- 2.3%, n = 8, p < 0.001) or 60-minute hypoxia in either Krebs or ST at 37 degrees C (Krebs: 27.8 +/- 1.2% vs 56.6 +/- 2.5%, n = 8, p < 0.001; ST: 23.8 +/- 4.1% vs 57.1 +/- 1.5%, n = 8, p < 0.001). The relaxation was significantly less after prolonged H-R in Krebs (p < 0.001). Incubation in Krebs or ST at 4 degrees C also reduced the EDHF-mediated relaxation (Krebs: 25.3 +/- 3.3%, n = 8, p < 0.001; ST: 29.1 +/- 4.4%, n = 8, p < 0.001) and there were no significant differences between Krebs and ST regarding the relaxation at either 37 degrees C or 4 degrees C (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS We conclude that (1) H-R impairs EDHF-mediated relaxation in the coronary microveins with more severe injury during prolonged H-R and (2) ST does not provide protection to the EDHF-mediated relaxation impaired by H-R at either 37 degrees C or 4 degrees C.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We investigated a relatively new organ preservation (Celsior) solution regarding its effect on the endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF)-mediated function with comparison to St. Thomas Hospital (ST) solution. METHODS The EDHF-mediated relaxation was induced by bradykinin (BK, -10 to -6.5 logM) in the presence of inhibitors of nitric oxide and prostacyclin in porcine small resistance coronary arteries, before and after incubation in ST (Group Ia, n=11), Celsior (Group Ib, n=13), or Krebs (Group Ic, control, n=12) at 4 degrees C for 4 hr. The EDHF-mediated hyperpolarization of the membrane potential of smooth muscle cells was measured by microelectrode with simultaneous relaxation after cold storage in ST (IIa, n=7), Celsior (IIb, n=6), or Krebs (IIc, control, n=6), or followed by washout with Krebs (ST: IIIa, n=6, Celsior: IIIb, n=6). RESULTS The EDHF-mediated relaxation was significantly decreased in Group Ia (56.4+/-7.2% vs. 71.2+/-5.3%, P<0.05) and Ib (44.8+/-4.9% vs. 74.7+/-3.3%, P<0.05) but not in Ic. The sensitivity to BK was also significantly decreased (Ia: -7.51+/-0.14 vs. -7.76+/-0.12 log M, P<0.05; Ib: -7.36+/-0.09 vs. -7.60+/-0.09 logM, P<0.05). The resting membrane potential was depolarized in IIa (-44.3+/-1.9 mV, n=7, P<0.05) and IIb (-33.0+/-2.2 mV, n=6, P<0.05) compared with IIc (-57.1+/-1.5 mV, n=6). The EDHF-mediated hyperpolarization decreased significantly in IIa and IIb (3.4+/-0.3 and 3.0+/-0.2 vs. 6.3+/-0.5 mV, P<0.05) and partially restored in IIIa (5.0+/-0.2 vs. 3.4+/-0.3 mV, P<0.05) and IIIb (4.1+/-0.3 vs. 3.0+/-0.2 mV, P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Storage with Celsior and ST solutions reduces the EDHF-mediated endothelial function (hyperpolarization and associated relaxation) in porcine small resistance coronary arteries.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We investigated effects of hypoxia-reoxygenation (H-R) with and without St. Thomas solution under clinically relevant temperatures and effects of nicorandil on endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF)-mediated relaxation in porcine coronary microarteries. METHODS In a myograph, rings of porcine microarteries (diameter 200 to 450 microm) were subjected to hypoxia (PO2 < 5 mm Hg) for 30 minutes in Krebs at 37 degrees C, or for 60 minutes in Krebs and St. Thomas solution with or without nicorandil (0.1 microM) at 37 degrees C or 4 degrees C, followed by 30-minute reoxygenation. The EDHF-mediated relaxation by bradykinin (-10 to approximately -6 logM) with inhibitors of nitric oxide and prostacyclin was studied. RESULTS The maximal EDHF-mediated relaxation was reduced after hypoxia for 30 minutes (59.9%% +/- 1.6% versus 81.2%% +/- 3.5%, p < 0.05) or 60 minutes (44.4% +/- 6.0% versus 82.7% +/- 7.4%, p < 0.001) in Krebs or St. Thomas (28.9% +/- 1.8% versus 78.1% +/- 3.0%, p < 0.001) at 37 degrees C and at 4 degrees C (Krebs: 49.3% +/- 3.0%, p < 0.001; ST: 43.1% +/- 2.6%, p < 0.001) and it was less in St. Thomas solution at 37 degrees C than at 4 degrees C (p < 0.001). The reduced relaxation was recovered by nicorandil (Krebs at 37 degrees C: 81.7% +/- 3.4%, p < 0.001; St. Thomas at 37 degrees C: 71.0% +/- 7.9%, p <0.001; St. Thomas at 4 degrees C: 85.3% +/- 3.3%, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS We conclude that (1) H-R impairs EDHF-mediated relaxation in the coronary microarteries with more injury during prolonged H-R, and this can be partially eliminated by St. Thomas at 4 degrees C but not at 37 degrees C; and (2) as an additive, nicorandil may fully restore EDHF-mediated endothelial function after prolonged H-R.

Abstract
Wheat germ agglutinin conjugated horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP) injection into the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG) resulted in heavy accumulation of retrogradely labeled neurons in the lateral habenular nucleus (LHb) bilaterally. When the left femoral artery was persistently ligated for 2 h, the expression of Fos-like immunoreactivity (FOS-LI) was also found bilaterally in the LHb. In the present study, by combining the retrograde labeling method of injecting WGA-HRP into the PAG and the immunohistochemical staining of the FOS-LI neurons in the LHb induced by occlusion of the femoral artery, it was demonstrated that there are neurons containing both HRP labeling and FOS-LI. These neurons appeared to be located mainly in the medial part and posterior half of the LHb, and constitute about 24% of the total number of all labeled cells.

Abstract
Extinction measurements with a laser diode (0.685 µm) and a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (2-18 µm) were performed on laboratory ice clouds (5 µm ≤ D ≤ 70 µm) grown at a variety of temperatures, and thus at a variety of crystal habits and average projected crystal area. Ice clouds were grown by nucleation of a supercooled water droplet cloud with a rod cooled with liquid nitrogen. The ice crystals observed were mainly plates and dendrites at the coldest temperatures (≈-15 °C) and were mainly columns and needles at warmer temperatures (≈-5 °C). The crystals were imaged with both a novel microscope equipped with a video camera and a heated glass slide and a continuously running Formvar replicator. The IR spectral optical-depth measurements reveal a narrow (0.5-µm-width) extinction minimum at 2.84 µm and a wider (3-µm-width) minimum at 10.5 µm. These partial windows are associated with wavelengths where the real part of the index of refraction for bulk ice has a relative minimum so that extinction is primarily due to absorption rather than scattering (i.e., the Christiansen effect). Bulk ice has absorption maxima near the window wavelengths. IR extinction efficiency has a noticeable wavelength dependence on the average projected crystal area and therefore on the temperaturedependent crystal properties. The average-size parameters in the visible for different temperatures ranged from 64 to 128, and in the IR they ranged from 2.5 to 44. The extinction efficiency and the single-scatter albedo for ice spheres as computed from Mie scattering also show evidence of the Christiansen effect.

Abstract
A high performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of saikosaponin a, c and d in Radix Bupleuri was developed. YMC-pack A-314 ODS column (6 x 300mm) with an eluent consisting of acetone-water (58:42) at a flow rate of 1.2 ml/min was used. The saikosaponins were monitored by a differential refractometer without being converted into the corresponding diene derivatives in advance. Megestrol was used as the internal standard. The recovery rate of saikosaponins was higher than 95% and the coefficient of variation (CV) was 3.08%. The contents of saikosaponins a, c and d of 13 species of Radix Bupleuri collected in different districts of China were evaluated by this method.
