Correlation of serum DKK1 level with skeletal phenotype in children with osteogenesis imperfecta. J Endocrinol Invest 2024:10.1007/s40618-024-02380-9. [PMID: 38744806 DOI: 10.1007/s40618-024-02380-9] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/23/2024] [Accepted: 04/18/2024] [Indexed: 05/16/2024]
Abstract
PURPOSE We aim to detect serum DKK1 level of pediatric patients with OI and to analyze its relationship with the genotype and phenotype of OI patients. METHODS A cohort of pediatric OI patients and age-matched healthy children were enrolled. Serum levels of DKK1 and bone turnover biomarkers were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Bone mineral density (BMD) was measured by Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Pathogenic mutations of OI were detected by next-generation sequencing and confirmed by Sanger sequencing. RESULTS A total of 62 OI children with mean age of 9.50 (4.86, 12.00) years and 29 healthy children were included in this study. The serum DKK1 concentration in OI children was significantly higher than that in healthy children [5.20 (4.54, 6.32) and 4.08 (3.59, 4.92) ng/mL, P < 0.001]. The serum DKK1 concentration in OI children was negatively correlated with height (r = - 0.282), height Z score (r = - 0.292), ALP concentration (r = - 0.304), lumbar BMD (r = - 0.276), BMD Z score of the lumbar spine and femoral neck (r = - 0.32; r = - 0.27) (all P < 0.05). No significant difference in serum DKK1 concentration was found between OI patients with and without vertebral compression fractures. In patients with spinal deformity (22/62), serum DKK1 concentration was positively correlated with SDI (r = 0.480, P < 0.05). No significant correlation was observed between serum DKK1 concentration and the annual incidence of peripheral fractures, genotype and types of collagen changes in OI children. CONCLUSION The serum DKK1 level was not only significantly elevated in OI children, but also closely correlated to their skeletal phenotype, suggesting that DKK1 may become a new biomarker and a potential therapeutic target of OI.

Qingfei xieding prescription ameliorates mitochondrial DNA-initiated inflammation in bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis through activating autophagy. JOURNAL OF ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY 2024; 325:117820. [PMID: 38286157 DOI: 10.1016/j.jep.2024.117820] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/18/2023] [Revised: 01/15/2024] [Accepted: 01/22/2024] [Indexed: 01/31/2024]
Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Qingfei Xieding prescription was gradually refined and produced by Hangzhou Red Cross Hospital. The raw material includes Ephedra sinica Stapf, Morus alba L., Bombyx Batryticatus, Gypsum Fibrosum, Prunus armeniaca L. var. ansu Maxim., Houttuynia cordata Thunb. , Pueraria edulis Pamp. Paeonia L., Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge. It is effective in clinical adjuvant treatment of patients with pulmonary diseases. AIM OF THE STUDY To explore the efficacy and underlying mechanism of Qingfei Xieding (QF) in the treatment of bleomycin-induced mouse model. MATERIALS AND METHODS TGF-β induced fibrotic phenotype in vitro. Bleomycin injection induced lung tissue fibrosis mouse model in vivo. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis, cellular ROS and lipid oxidation. Mitochondria substructure was observed by transmission electron microscopy. Autophagolysosome and nuclear entry of P65 were monitored by immunofluorescence. Quantitative real-time PCR was performed to detect the transcription of genes associated with mtDNA-cGAS-STING pathway and subsequent inflammatory signaling activation. RESULTS TGF-β induced the expression of α-SMA and Collagen I, inhibited cell viability in lung epithelial MLE-12 cells that was reversed by QF-containing serum. TGF-β-mediated downregulation in autophagy, upregulation in lipid oxidation and ROS contents, and mitochondrial damage were rescued by QF-containing serum treatment, but CQ exposure, an autophagy inhibitor, prevented the protective role of QF. In addition to that, the decreased autophagolysosome in TGF-β-exposed MLE-12 cells was reversed by QF and restored to low level in the combination treatment of QF and CQ. Mechanistically, QF-containing serum treatment significantly inhibited mtDNA-cGAS-STING pathway and subsequent inflammatory signaling in TGF-β-challenged cells, which were abolished by CQ-mediated autophagy inhibition. In bleomycin-induced mouse model, QF ameliorated pulmonary fibrosis, reduced mortality, re-activated autophagy in lung tissues and restrained mtDNA-cGAS-STING inflammation pathway. However, the protective effects of QF in bleomycin-induced model mice were also abrogated by CQ. CONCLUSION QF alleviated bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis by activating autophagy, inhibiting mtDNA-cGAS-STING pathway-mediated inflammation. This research recognizes the protection role of QF on bleomycin-induced mouse model, and offers evidence for the potentiality of QF in clinical application for pulmonary fibrosis treatment.

Abstract
Based on (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/ψ→γK_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}η^{'} is performed. The mass and width of the X(2370) are measured to be 2395±11(stat)_{-94}^{+26}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and 188_{-17}^{+18}(stat)_{-33}^{+124}(syst) MeV, respectively. The corresponding product branching fraction is B[J/ψ→γX(2370)]×B[X(2370)→f_{0}(980)η^{'}]×B[f_{0}(980)→K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}]=(1.31±0.22(stat)_{-0.84}^{+2.85}(syst))×10^{-5}. The statistical significance of the X(2370) is greater than 11.7σ and the spin parity is determined to be 0^{-+} for the first time. The measured mass and spin parity of the X(2370) are consistent with the predictions of the lightest pseudoscalar glueball.

Associations between static and dynamic changes of platelet counts and in-hospital mortality in critical patients with acute heart failure. Sci Rep 2024; 14:9147. [PMID: 38644461 PMCID: PMC11033279 DOI: 10.1038/s41598-024-59892-w] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/28/2023] [Accepted: 04/16/2024] [Indexed: 04/23/2024] Open
Abstract
To investigate the predictive value of baseline platelet count and its short-term dynamic changes in the prognosis of patients with acute heart failure (AHF) in the intensive care unit. Patients diagnosed with AHF in the medical information mart for intensive care III and their clinical data were retrospectively filtered. Patients were divided into survivor and non-survivor groups based on their prognosis during hospitalization, and differences in baseline data between groups were compared. Logistic regression models and restricted cubic spline (RCS) plots were performed to evaluate the relationship between baseline platelet counts and in-hospital mortality. Changes and trends in platelet counts were compared between the survivor and non-survivor groups after adjusting for confounders with the generalized additive mixing model (GAMM). A total of 2930 critical patients with acute heart failure were included, of which 2720 were survivors and 210 were non-survivors. Multiple logistic regression models revealed that baseline platelet count was an independent factor in hospital mortality (OR 0.997, 95% CI 0.994-0.999, P-value = 0.018). The RCS plot demonstrated a U-shaped dose-response relationship between baseline platelet count and in-hospital mortality. GAMM analysis suggested that the platelet counts decreased and then increased in the survivor group and gradually decreased in the non-survivor group, with a gradual increase of difference between two groups. After adjusting for confounders, the mean daily increase was -6.014 (95% CI -7.076-4.953, P-value < 0.001). Baseline platelet demonstrated a U-shaped dose-response relationship with adverse outcomes in critical patients with AHF. Early elevation of platelet was correlated with higher in-hospital mortality, indicating that tracking early changes in platelet might help determine the short-term prognosis of critical patients with AHF.

Abstract
We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} and ωχ_{c2} at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s] from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 fb^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider storage ring. Assuming the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c2} signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be M=(4413.6±9.0±0.8) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(110.5±15.0±2.9) MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance ψ(4415). In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} line shape and determine the mass and width to be M=(4544.2±18.7±1.7) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(116.1±33.5±1.7) MeV, respectively. The structure of this line shape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.

Abstract
We perform a study of the χ_{c1}(3872) line shape using the data samples of e^{+}e^{-}→γχ_{c1}(3872), χ_{c1}(3872)→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0}, and π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ collected with the BESIII detector. The effects of the coupled channels and the off-shell D^{*0} are included in the parametrization of the line shape. The line shape mass parameter is obtained to be M_{X}=(3871.63±0.13_{-0.05}^{+0.06}) MeV. Two poles are found on the first and second Riemann sheets corresponding to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} branch cut. The pole location on the first sheet is much closer to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} threshold than the other, and is determined to be 7.04±0.15_{-0.08}^{+0.07} MeV above the D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0} threshold with an imaginary part -0.19±0.08_{-0.19}^{+0.14} MeV.

Abstract
Using a sample of (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/c^{2} in the line shape of the 3(π^{+}π^{-}) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840) and X(1880). The new state X(1880) is observed with a statistical significance larger than 10σ. The mass and width of X(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.7 MeV/c^{2} and 30.7±5.5±2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a pp[over ¯] bound state.

Abstract
Objective: To study the clinicopathological features of Sjogren's syndrome (SS) with liver injury and to improve the understanding of this disease. Methods: Forty-nine patients with SS complicated with liver injury were collected from Beijing Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University from October 2008 to January 2022. All patients underwent ultrasound-guided liver biopsy, and all specimens were stained with HE. The histopathologic characteristics were observed and the pathologic indexes were graded. Immunohistochemical stains for CK7, CK19, CD38, MUM1 and CD10 were performed by EnVision method; and special histochemical stains for reticulin, Masson's trichrome, Rhodanine, Prussian blue, periodic acid Schiff (PAS) and D-PAS stains were conducted. Results: The age of patients ranged from 31 to 66 years, including 3 males and 46 females. SS combined with drug-induced liver injury was the most common (22 cases, 44.9%), followed by autoimmune liver disease (13 cases, 26.5%, including primary biliary cholangitis in eight cases, autoimmune hepatitis in 3 cases, and PBC-AIH overlap syndrome in 2 cases), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD, 9 cases, 18.4%) and other lesions (5 cases, 10.2%; including 3 cases of nonspecific liver inflammation, 1 case of liver amyloidosis, and 1 case of porto-sinusoidal vascular disease). Among them, 28 cases (57.1%) were associated with obvious interlobular bile duct injury, mainly in SS combined with PBC group and drug-induced liver injury group. Twenty-three cases (46.9%) were associated with hepatocyte steatosis of varying degrees. In SS with autoimmune liver disease group, ISHAK score, degree of fibrosis bile duct injury, bile duct remodeling, lymphocyte infiltration of portal area, and plasma cell infiltration, MUM1 and CD38 expression; serum ALP and GGT, IgM; elevated globulin; positive AMA, proportion of AMA-M2 positive and IgM positive were all significantly higher than those in other groups(all P<0.05). Serum ALT, direct bilirubin and SSA positive ratio in SS combined with drug liver group were significantly higher than those in other groups(all P<0.05). The serum total cholesterol level in SS combined with PBC group (P=0.006) and NALFD group (P=0.011) were significantly higher than those in other groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: The pathologic manifestations of SS patients with liver injury are varied. The inflammatory lesions of SS patients with autoimmune liver disease are the most serious, and the inflammatory lesions of SS patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and non-specific inflammation are mild. Comprehensive analysis of liver histopathologic changes and laboratory findings is helpful for the diagnosis of SS complicated with different types of liver injury.

Abstract
Using e^{+}e^{-} collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb^{-1} recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we present an analysis of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}, where the D_{s}^{+} is produced via the process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*±}D_{s}^{∓}. We observe the f_{0}(980) in the π^{+}π^{-} system and the branching fraction of the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} with f_{0}(980)→π^{+}π^{-} measured to be (1.72±0.13_{stat}±0.10_{syst})×10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The dynamics of the D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} decay are studied with the simple pole parametrization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatté formula describing the f_{0}(980) in the differential decay rate, and the product of the form factor f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| is determined for the first time to be f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.017_{stat}±0.035_{syst}. Furthermore, the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e} is searched for the first time but no signal is found. The upper limit on the branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e}, f_{0}(500)→π^{+}π^{-} decay is set to be 3.3×10^{-4} at 90% confidence level.

Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to short-distance physics effects, sensitive to processes beyond the standard model, are extracted directly from the data through a q^{2}-unbinned amplitude analysis, where q^{2} is the μ^{+}μ^{-} invariant mass squared. Long-distance contributions, which originate from nonfactorizable QCD processes, are systematically investigated, and the most accurate assessment to date of their impact on the physical observables is obtained. The pattern of measured corrections to the short-distance couplings is found to be consistent with previous analyses of b- to s-quark transitions, with the largest discrepancy from the standard model predictions found to be at the level of 1.8 standard deviations. The global significance of the observed differences in the decay is 1.4 standard deviations.

Abstract
We perform for the first time an amplitude analysis of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η and report the observation of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. As the only W-annihilation-free decay among D to a_{0}(980) pseudoscalar, D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} is the ideal decay in extracting the contributions of the W-emission amplitudes involving a_{0}(980) and to study the final-state interactions. The absolute branching fraction of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η is measured to be (1.27±0.04_{stat}±0.03_{syst})%. The branching fractions of intermediate processes D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} with a_{0}(980)^{+}→π^{+}η and D^{+}→π^{+}K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0} with K[over ¯]_{0}^{*}(1430)^{0}→K_{S}^{0}η are measured to be (1.33±0.05_{stat}±0.04_{syst})% and (0.14±0.03_{stat}±0.01_{syst})%, respectively.

Abstract
AIMS To develop an auto-categorization system based on machine learning for three-dimensional magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (3D MRCP) to detect choledocholithiasis from healthy and symptomatic individuals. MATERIALS AND METHODS 3D MRCP sequences from 254 cases with common bile duct (CBD) stones and 251 cases with normal CBD were enrolled to train the 3D Convolutional Neural Network (3D-CNN) model. Then 184 patients from three different hospitals (91 with positive CBD stone and 93 with normal CBD) were prospectively included to test the performance of 3D-CNN. RESULTS With a cutoff value of 0.2754, 3D-CNN achieved the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 94.51%, 92.47%, and 93.48%, respectively. In the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) for the presence or absence of CBD stones was 0.974 (95% CI, 0.940-0.992). There was no significant difference in sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy between 3D-CNN and radiologists. In addition, the performance of 3D-CNN was also evaluated in the internal test set and the external test set, respectively. The internal test set yielded an accuracy of 94.74% and AUC of 0.974 (95% CI, 0.919-0.996), and the external test set yielded an accuracy of 92.13% and AUC of 0.970 (95% CI, 0.911-0.995). CONCLUSIONS An artificial intelligence-assisted diagnostic system for CBD stones was constructed using 3D-CNN model for 3D MRCP images. The performance of 3D-CNN model was comparable to that of radiologists in diagnosing CBD stones. 3D-CNN model maintained high performance when applied to data from other hospitals.

Abstract
Using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ^{-} and Λ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ^{-}Ξ[over ¯]^{+}→Λ(pπ^{-})π^{-}Λ[over ¯](n[over ¯]π^{0})π^{+} and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α_{Λ0} for Λ→nπ^{0} and α[over ¯]_{Λ0} for Λ[over ¯]→n[over ¯]π^{0} compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ^{0} to that of Λ→pπ^{-}, ⟨α_{Λ0}⟩/⟨α_{Λ-}⟩, is determined to be 0.873±0.012_{-0.010}^{+0.011}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2 transition in Λ for the first time. Besides, we test for CP symmetry in Ξ^{-}→Λπ^{-} and in Λ→nπ^{0} with the best precision to date.

Abstract
By analyzing 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the observation of the semileptonic decay D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, with a statistical significance larger than 10σ, and the measurements of the D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay dynamics for the first time. The branching fractions of D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} are determined to be (2.235±0.051_{stat}±0.052_{syst})% and (0.801±0.055_{stat}±0.028_{syst})%, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays D_{s}^{+}→ηe^{+}ν_{e} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}e^{+}ν_{e}, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are f_{+,0}^{η}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.452±0.010_{stat}±0.007_{syst} and f_{+,0}^{η^{'}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.037_{stat}±0.012_{syst}, which help to constrain present models on f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0). The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be ⟨A_{FB}^{η}⟩=-0.059±0.031_{stat}±0.005_{syst} and ⟨A_{FB}^{η^{'}}⟩=-0.064±0.079_{stat}±0.006_{syst} for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

Construction of prediction model for fetal growth restriction during first trimester in an Asian population. ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY : THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ULTRASOUND IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY 2024; 63:321-330. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a prediction model for fetal growth restriction (FGR) during the first trimester of pregnancy and evaluate its screening performance. METHODS This was a prospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies that underwent routine ultrasound screening at 11 to 13 + 6 weeks at the Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 2019 and April 2022. Basic clinical information, ultrasound indicators and serum biomarkers of pregnant women were collected. Fetal weight assessment was based on the fetal growth curve for the Southern Chinese population. FGR was diagnosed according to Delphi consensus criteria. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (lasso) regression was used to select variables for inclusion in the model. Discrimination, calibration and clinical effectiveness of the model were evaluated in training and validation cohorts. RESULTS A total of 1188 pregnant women were included, of whom 108 had FGR. Lasso regression identified seven predictive features, including history of maternal hypertension, maternal smoking or passive smoking, gravidity, uterine artery pulsatility index, ductus venosus pulsatility index and multiples of the median values of placental growth factor and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1. The nomogram prediction model constructed from these seven variables accurately predicted FGR, and the area under the receiver-operating-characteristics curve in the validation cohort was 0.82 (95% CI, 0.74-0.90). The calibration curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow test demonstrated good calibration, and the clinical decision curve and clinical impact curve supported its practical value in a clinical setting. CONCLUSION The multi-index prediction model for FGR has good predictive value during the first trimester. © 2023 The Authors. Abstract
The first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+} and Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector between 2016 and 2018. The branching fraction ratios are measured to be B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[6.08±0.51(stat)±0.40(syst)]%,B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[15.81±0.87(stat)±0.44(syst)±0.16(ext)]%. In addition, using the Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+} decay channel, the Ω_{c}^{0} baryon mass is measured to be M(Ω_{c}^{0})=2695.28±0.07(stat)±0.27(syst)±0.30(ext) MeV, improving the precision of the previous world average by a factor of 4.

Abstract
Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the process e^{+}e^{-}→Σ^{+}Σ[over ¯]^{-} is studied at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=2.3960, 2.6454, and 2.9000 GeV. Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the Σ^{+} electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be sinΔΦ=-0.67±0.29(stat)±0.18(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.3960 GeV, ΔΦ=55°±19°(stat)±14°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.6454 GeV, and 78°±22°(stat)±9°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.

Enhanced Production of Λ_{b}^{0} Baryons in High-Multiplicity pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:081901. Abstract
The production rate of Λ_{b}^{0} baryons relative to B^{0} mesons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=13 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} production cross sections shows a significant dependence on both the transverse momentum and the measured charged-particle multiplicity. At low multiplicity, the ratio measured at LHCb is consistent with the value measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, and increases by a factor of ∼2 with increasing multiplicity. At relatively low transverse momentum, the ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} cross sections is higher than what is measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, but converges with the e^{+}e^{-} ratio as the momentum increases. These results imply that the evolution of heavy b quarks into final-state hadrons is influenced by the density of the hadronic environment produced in the collision. Comparisons with several models and implications for the mechanisms enforcing quark confinement are discussed.

Abstract
The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006 rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024 ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014 ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of exosome derived from miR-133a-3p engineered human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells (ucMSC) on myocardial repair after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in rats. Methods: UcMSC was amplified and cultured in vitro. Lentiviral carrying miR-133a-3p and negative control vectors were transfected into ucMSC. Exosomes secreted by the transfected ucMSC were named miR-133a-3p-Exo and miR-NC-Exo, respectively. The AMI model of rats was established by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. MiR-133a-3p-Exo or miR-NC-Exo were then injected into the border zone of the infarct area. Cardiac function was assessed by echocardiography after twenty-eight days of intervention, and Masson staining was used to evaluate the area of myocardial fibrosis post-AMI. The myocardial apoptosis after infarction was evaluated by TUNEL staining and the angiogenesis after infarction was evaluated by immunofluorescence staining in the current study. Results: Compared with the miR-NC-Exo group, the left ventricular ejection fraction in the miR-133a-3p-Exo group was significantly increased ((47.4%±9.8%) vs. (64.2%±8.9%), P<0.05). While the myocardial fibrosis area ((31.2%±7.3%) vs. (18.0%±1.5%), P<0.01) and the percentage of apoptotic cardiomyocytes ((25.6%±3.6%) vs. (15.1%±4.4%), P<0.05) was significantly reduced in the miR-133a-Exo group. Besides, the expression of CD31 and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were also increased significantly in the miR-133a-3p-Exo group compared to the miR-NC-Exo group (CD31: (2.9±0.9) vs. (13.9±2.0), P<0.000 1, α-SMA: (3.5±0.9) vs. (11.0±1.6), P<0.000 1). Conclusion: Exosome derived from miR-133a-3p engineered ucMSC effectively inhibited myocardial apoptosis and promoted angiogenesis, thus improving the cardiac function after myocardial infarction in rats.

Abstract
Based on 4.4 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.60 and 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the pure W-boson-exchange decay Λ_{c}^{+}→Ξ^{0}K^{+} is studied with a full angular analysis. The corresponding decay asymmetry is measured for the first time to be α_{Ξ^{0}K^{+}}=0.01±0.16(stat)±0.03(syst). This result reflects the noninterference effect between the S- and P-wave amplitudes. The phase shift between S- and P-wave amplitudes has two solutions, which are δ_{p}-δ_{s}=-1.55±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad or 1.59±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad.

Abstract
A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The CP-violation parameters are measured to be S_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.717±0.013(stat)±0.008(syst) and C_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.008±0.012(stat)±0.003(syst). This measurement of S_{ψK_{S}^{0}} represents the most precise single measurement of the CKM angle β to date and is more precise than the current world average. In addition, measurements of the CP-violation parameters of the individual channels are reported and a combination with the LHCb Run 1 measurements is performed.

Menstrual blood-derived stem cells exosomal miR-let-7 to ameliorate pulmonary fibrosis through inhibiting ferroptosis by Sp3/HDAC2/Nrf2 signaling pathway. Int Immunopharmacol 2024; 126:111316. Abstract
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a serious, lifelong lung disease with high morbidity and high mortality. Menstrual blood-derived stem cells (MenSCs) derived exosomes (MenSCs-Exo) emerge as an attractive tool for the treatment of acute lung injury and fibrosis-related diseases. However, more comprehensive mechanism over how MenSCs derived exosomes exhibits anti-pulmonary fibrosis needs to be elucidated. In this study, TGF-β was used to construct cell fibrosis model, and bleomycin (BLM) was applied to induce lung tissue fibrosis mice model. BLM- and TGF-β1-induced cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) damage, and lung epithelial cell apoptosis were alleviated by MenSCs-Exo treatment in vivo and in vitro. Besides, it was found that MenSCs-Exo delivered miR-let-7 into MLE-12 cells/lung epithelial cell and the reduction of miR-let-7 blocked the improvement produced by MenSCs-Exo. Mechanistically, miR-let-7 directly bound to Sp3 and negatively regulated its expression. Sp3 elevation promoted the expression of ferroptosis-related protein and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) damage markers via recruiting HDAC2, thereby inactivating keap1/Nrf2 signal cascade, which were confirmed in BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis mice model under the combination therapy of the MenSCs-Exo and let-7 inhibitor. Collectively, MenSCs derived exosomes could transmit miR-let-7 into MLE-12 cells to inhibit the expression of Sp3, thereby weakening the recruitment effect of Sp3 on HDAC2, lifting the deacetylation restriction of HDAC2 on Nrf2, and enhancing the Nrf2 pathway. These changes further declined ferroptosis and delayed the pathological process of oxidative damage and lung epithelial cell apoptosis in PF.

Abstract
PURPOSE Lipocalin 2 (LCN2) is a newly recognized bone-derived factor that is important in regulation of energy metabolism. We investigated the correlation of serum LCN2 levels and glycolipid metabolism, and body composition in a large cohort of patients with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). METHODS A total of 204 children with OI and 66 age- and gender-matched healthy children were included. Circulating levels of LCN2 and osteocalcin were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Serum levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), and low- and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, HDL-C) were measured by automated chemical analyzers. The body composition was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Grip strength and timed-up-and-go (TUG) were tested to evaluate the muscle function. RESULTS Serum LCN2 levels were 37.65 ± 23.48 ng/ml in OI children, which was significantly lower than those in healthy control (69.18 ± 35.43 ng/ml, P < 0.001). Body mass index (BMI) and serum FBG level were significantly higher and HDL-C levels were lower in OI children than healthy control (all P < 0.01). Grip strength was significantly lower (P < 0.05), and the TUG was significantly longer in OI patients than healthy control (P < 0.05). Serum LCN2 level was negatively correlated to BMI, FBG, HOMA-IR, HOMA-β, total body, and trunk fat mass percentage, and positively correlated to total body and appendicular lean mass percentage (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, obesity, and muscle dysfunction are common in OI patients. As a novel osteogenic cytokine, LCN2 deficiency may be relevant to disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism, and dysfunction of muscle in OI patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As the global population ages, cognitive impairment (CI) becomes more prevalent. Tea has been one of the most popular drinks in the world. Several studies have demonstrated that tea consumption has an impact on cognitive function. OBJECTIVE This study aims to examine the association between tea consumption and cognitive function and explore the potential effect of genetics on the relationship between tea consumption and CI risk in older adults. DESIGN This is a prospective longitudinal study using data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). SETTING Six waves of data from CLHLS containing 76,270 subjects were analyzed. Generalized estimation equations (GEE) with a logit link function were adopted to estimate the effect of tea consumption on CI risk from a cross-sectional and longitudinal perspective. PARTICIPANTS A population-based cohort of adults aged 65-105 years. MEASUREMENTS The frequency and type of tea consumption were obtained by questionnaires. CI was measured based on MMSE. Polygenic risk was measured using the polygenic score approach described by the International Schizophrenia. RESULTS The results showed that drinking green tea had a better protective effect on cognitive function than other types of tea, the incidence of CI gradually decreased with the increase of tea consumption frequency, and men were more likely to benefit from tea consumption. Additionally, we also found a significant interaction between tea consumption and genetic risk, measured by polygenic risk score (PRS). CONCLUSIONS Based on current research evidence, tea consumption, may be a simple and important measure for CI prevention.

Abstract
Objective: Gastric adenocarcinoma of the fundic gland type (GA-FG) is rare and often occurs in patients who are not infected with Helicobacter pylori. The current study analyzed and summarized the clinical, endoscopic, and pathological features of GA-FG, in an effort to improve its diagnosis. Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with GA-FG and treated with endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) resection at the Department of Gastroenterology, First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from January 1st 2020 to October 1st 2022 were included in the study. Their clinical manifestations, endoscopic features, pathological immunohistochemistry, and other characteristics were analyzed. Results: A total of 14 patients with GA-FG were included in the study, 5 males and 9 females, with a mean age of 59 years. Most had no substantial clinical manifestations. Twelve patients were H. pylori-negative, all patients underwent ESD resection, and all patients survived during the follow-up period of 13±9 months. Eleven patients had postoperative endoscopic follow-up records, and no recurrence was detected. Fifteen lesions were detected (2 were present in 1 patient). Twelve were located in the upper 1/3 of the stomach, 10 were ≤ 1 cm in diameter, 12 had a morphology of type 0-Ⅱa, 8 had visible discoloration changes, and 12 had visible vasodilation on the surface. Magnified endoscopy and narrow-band imaging indicated that 12 of the lesions had enlarged marginal crypt epithelium, without any obvious microvascular pattern abnormalities and no obvious borderline. After resection the pathological specimens were all without vascular infiltration, and there was no atrophy of the mucosa at the edge of the lesion. Abstract
Ulceration colitis (UC) is a chronic and recurrent inflammatory disorder in the gastro-intestinal tract. The purpose of our study is to explore the potential mechanisms of ginsenoside Rg1 (GS Rg1) on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cells. Acute colitis was induced in male C57BL/6 mice. In vitro model of LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells to simulate enteritis model. The disease activity index (DAI), colon length, body weight and histopathological analysis were performed in vivo. Pro-inflammatory cytokines and markers for oxidative and anti-oxidative stress, MPO level were measured in vivo and in vitro. Nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and NF-?B p65 protein levels were analyzed using western blotting. Our results indicated that the UC models were established successfully by drinking DSS water. GS Rg1 significantly attenuated UC-related symptoms, including preventing weight loss, decreasing DAI scores, and increasing colon length. GS Rg1 ameliorated the DSS-induced oxidative stress. IL-1beta, IL-6, and TNF-alpha levels were significantly increased in serum and cell supernatant effectively, while treatment with the GS Rg1 significantly reduced these factors. GS Rg1 reduced MPO content in the colon. GS Rg1 treatment increased SOD and decreased MDA levels in the serum, colon, and cell supernatant. GS Rg1 restored the Nrf-2/HO-1/NF-?B pathway in RAW 264.7 cells and UC mice, and these changes were blocked by Nrf-2 siRNA. Overall, GS Rg1 ameliorated inflammation and oxidative stress in colitis via Nrf-2/HO-1/NF-kappaB pathway. Thus, GS Rg1 could serve as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of UC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The coexistence of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and diabetes mellitus (DM) has emerged as a significant global public health concern. Patients with DM are at higher risk of developing PTB, and PTB is one of the important factors that exacerbate the development of DM. However, the impact of DM on the protein profile and underlying pathways in PTB patients is unclear. METHODS We systematically used data-independent acquisition (DIA)-based liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to identify differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in plasma samples from PTB patients, DM combined with PTB patients, and healthy controls. Then these DEPs were analyzed by bioinformatics. RESULTS Our analysis identified 268 proteins, the results indicated that DEPs in the PTB group as well as in the DM-PTB group were mainly involved in immune responses, complement and coagulation cascade and cholesterol metabolic pathways compared to healthy controls. CONCLUSIONS We analyzed the plasma protein profiles of PTB, DM-PTB, and HC groups using proteomics techniques and identified potential pathways for PTB patients with and without DM. This provides valuable clues to explore the impact of DM on PTB.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish a surveillance and early warning index system for schistosomiasis transmission risk along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin, so as to provide insights into creation of a sensitive and highly efficient surveillance and early warning system for schistosomiasis. METHODS National and international publications, documents, laws and regulations pertaining to schistosomiasis control were retrieved with keywords including schistosomiasis, surveillance, early warning and control interventions from 2008 to 2022, and a thematic panel discussion was held to preliminarily construct surveillance and early warning index system for schistosomiasis transmission risk along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin. The index system was then comprehensively scored and screened using the Delphi method, and the weight of each index was determined using analytic hierarchy process and the modified proportional allocation method. In addition, the credibility of the Delphi method was evaluated using positive coefficient, authority coefficient, degree of concentration and degree of coordination of experts. RESULTS Following two rounds of expert consultation, a surveillance and early warning index system for schistosomiasis transmission risk in endemic areas along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin was preliminarily constructed, including 3 primary indicators, 9 secondary indicators and 41 tertiary indicators. The normalized weights of primary indicators epidemics, natural and social factors and comprehensive control were 0.639 8, 0.145 6 and 0.214 6, respectively, and among all secondary indicators, snail status (0.321 3) and schistosomiasis prevalence (0.318 5) had the highest combined weights, while social factors had the lowest combined weight (0.030 4). Of all tertiary indicators, human egg-positive rate (0.041 9), number of acute schistosomiasis cases (0.041 5), number of stool-positive bovine and sheep (0.041 1), and prevalence of Schistosoma japonicum in free-ranging livestock (0.041 1) had the highest combined weights. During two rounds of consultation, the positive coefficient of experts was both 100%, and the authority coefficient was both 0.9 and greater, while the coordination coefficients were 0.338 to 0.441 and 0.426 to 0.565 (χ2 = 22.875 to 216.524, both P values < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The established surveillance and early warning index system for schistosomiasis transmission risk along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin is of great scientific values and authority, which may provide insights into construction of the sensitive and highly efficient surveillance and early warning system for schistosomiasis in the context of low prevalence and low intensity of infection in China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Female reproductive factors such as age at first birth (AFB), age at last birth (ALB), number of pregnancies and live births play an essential role in women's health. However, few epidemiological studies have evaluated the association between female reproductive factors and metabolic syndrome (MetS). We therefore conducted a cross-sectional study to investigate the association between MetS risk and female reproductive factors. METHODS We investigated the relationship between AFB, ALB, number of pregnancies and live births and the incidence of MetS using publicly available data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2018. Weighted multivariable logistic regression analysis, restricted cubic spline (RCS) model, and subgroup analysis were used to evaluate the association between AFB and ALB and the risk of MetS in women. In addition, the relationship between the number of pregnancies, live births and MetS risk was also explored. RESULTS A total of 15,404 women were included in the study, and 5,983 (38.8%) had MetS. RCS models showed an N-shaped relationship between AFB and MetS risk, whereas ALB, number of pregnancies, and live births were linearly associated with MetS. Weighted multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the number of live births was associated with MetS risk, with ORs of 1.18 (95% CI: 1.04, 1.35) for women with ≥ 5 deliveries compared to women with ≤ 2 births. CONCLUSIONS AFB was associated with the risk of MetS in an N-shaped curve in women. In addition, women with high live births have a higher incidence of MetS.

Abstract
The quantum entangled J/ψ→Σ^{+}Σ[over ¯]^{-} pairs from (1.0087±0.0044)×10^{10} J/ψ events taken by the BESIII detector are used to study the nonleptonic two-body weak decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→n[over ¯]π^{-}. The CP-odd weak decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} (α_{+}) and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→n[over ¯]π^{-} (α[over ¯]_{-}) are determined to be 0.0481±0.0031_{stat}±0.0019_{syst} and -0.0565±0.0047_{stat}±0.0022_{syst}, respectively. The decay parameter α[over ¯]_{-} is measured for the first time, and the accuracy of α_{+} is improved by a factor of 4 compared to the previous results. The simultaneously determined decay parameters allow the first precision CP symmetry test for any hyperon decay with a neutron in the final state with the measurement of A_{CP}=(α_{+}+α[over ¯]_{-})/(α_{+}-α[over ¯]_{-})=-0.080±0.052_{stat}±0.028_{syst}. Assuming CP conservation, the average decay parameter is determined as ⟨α_{+}⟩=(α_{+}-α[over ¯]_{-})/2=-0.0506±0.0026_{stat}±0.0019_{syst}, while the ratios α_{+}/α_{0} and α[over ¯]_{-}/α[over ¯]_{0} are -0.0490±0.0032_{stat}±0.0021_{syst} and -0.0571±0.0053_{stat}±0.0032_{syst}, where α_{0} and α[over ¯]_{0} are the decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→pπ^{0} and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→p[over ¯]π^{0}, respectively.

Abstract
We study the process e^{+}e^{-}→Λ_{c}^{+}Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-} at twelve center-of-mass energies from 4.6119 to 4.9509 GeV using data samples collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross sections and effective form factors (|G_{eff}|) are determined with unprecedented precision after combining the single and double-tag methods based on the decay process Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+}. Flat cross sections around 4.63 GeV are obtained and no indication of the resonant structure Y(4630), as reported by Belle, is found. In addition, no oscillatory behavior is discerned in the |G_{eff}| energy dependence of Λ_{c}^{+}, in contrast to what is seen for the proton and neutron cases. Analyzing the cross section together with the polar-angle distribution of the Λ_{c}^{+} baryon at each energy point, the moduli of electric and magnetic form factors (|G_{E}| and |G_{M}|) are extracted and separated. For the first time, the energy dependence of the form factor ratio |G_{E}/G_{M}| is observed, which can be well described by an oscillatory function.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease with high mortality, and mining key genes for TB diagnosis is vital to raise the survival rate of patients. METHODS The whole microarray datasets GSE83456 (training set) and GSE19444 (validation set) of TB patients were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differential expression was conducted on genes between TB and normal samples (unconfirmed TB) in GSE83456 to yield TB-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs). DEGs were subjected to weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and clustered to form distinct gene modules. The immune scores of 25 kinds of immune cells were obtained by single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) of TB samples, and Pearson correlation analysis was carried out between the 25 immune scores and diverse gene modules. The gene modules significantly associated with immune cells were retained as Target modules. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were performed on the genes in the modules (p-value <0.05). The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was established utilizing the STRING database for genes in the Target module, and the selected key genes were intersected with immune-related genes in the ImmPort database. The obtained immune-related module genes were used for subsequent least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis and diagnostic models were constructed. Finally, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was utilized to validate the diagnostic model. RESULTS The turquoise and yellow modules had a high correlation with macrophages. LASSO regression analysis of immune-related genes in TB was carried on to finally construct a 5-gene diagnostic model composed of C5, GRN, IL1B, IL23A, and TYMP. As demonstrated by the ROC curves, the diagnostic efficiency of this diagnostic model was 0.957 and 0.944 in the training and validation sets, respectively. Therefore, the immune-related 5-gene model had a good diagnostic function for TB. CONCLUSION We identified 5 immune-related diagnostic markers that may play an important role in TB, and verified that this immune-related key gene model had a good diagnostic performance.

Abstract
The first observation and study of two new baryonic structures in the final state Ξ_{b}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} and the confirmation of the Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-} state in the Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} decay mode are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. In addition, the properties of the known Ξ_{b}^{*0}, Ξ_{b}^{'-} and Ξ_{b}^{*-} resonances are measured with improved precision. The new decay mode of the Ξ_{b}^{0} baryon to the Ξ_{c}^{+} π^{-} π^{+} π^{-} final state is observed and exploited for the first time in these measurements.

Abstract
A flavor-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of the decay B_{s}^{0}→ϕϕ is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at the center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The CP-violating phase and direct CP-violation parameter are measured to be ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.042±0.075±0.009 rad and |λ|=1.004±0.030±0.009, respectively, assuming the same values for all polarization states of the ϕϕ system. In these results, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These parameters are also determined separately for each polarization state, showing no evidence for polarization dependence. The results are combined with previous LHCb measurements using pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.074±0.069 rad and |λ|=1.009±0.030. This is the most precise study of time-dependent CP violation in a penguin-dominated B meson decay. The results are consistent with CP symmetry and with the standard model predictions.

Abstract
A narrow structure in the pΛ[over ¯] system near the mass threshold, named as X(2085), is observed in the process e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯] with a statistical significance greater than 20σ. Its spin and parity are determined for the first time to be J^{P}=1^{+} in an amplitude analysis, with a statistical significance greater than 5σ over other quantum numbers (0^{-},1^{-} and 2^{+}). The pole positions of X(2085) are measured to be M_{pole}=(2084_{-2}^{+4}±9) MeV and Γ_{pole}=(58_{-3}^{+4}±25) MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The analysis is based on the study of the process e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯] and uses the data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=4.008, 4.178, 4.226, 4.258, 4.416, and 4.682 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 8.35 fb^{-1}.

Abstract
The branching fraction of the rare decay Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ(1520)μ^{+}μ^{-} is measured for the first time, in the squared dimuon mass intervals q^{2}, excluding the J/ψ and ψ(2S) regions. The data sample analyzed was collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. The result in the highest q^{2} interval, q^{2}>15.0 GeV^{2}/c^{4}, where theoretical predictions have the smallest model dependence, agrees with the predictions.

Abstract
The process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*+}D_{s}^{*-} is studied with a semi-inclusive method using data samples at center-of-mass energies from threshold to 4.95 GeV collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross sections of the process are measured for the first time with high precision in this energy region. Two resonance structures are observed in the energy-dependent cross sections around 4.2 and 4.4 GeV. By fitting the cross sections with a coherent sum of three Breit-Wigner amplitudes and one phase-space amplitude, the two significant structures are assigned masses of (4186.8±8.7±30) and (4414.6±3.4±6.1) MeV/c^{2}, widths of (55±15±53) and (122.5±7.5±8.1) MeV, where the first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The inclusion of a third Breit-Wigner amplitude is necessary to describe a structure around 4.79 GeV.

Abstract
Using 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the first experimental study of the purely leptonic decay D_{s}^{*+}→e^{+}ν_{e}. Our data contain a signal of this decay with a statistical significance of 2.9σ. The branching fraction of D_{s}^{*+}→e^{+}ν_{e} is measured to be (2.1_{-0.9_{stat}}^{+1.2}±0.2_{syst})×10^{-5}, corresponding to an upper limit of 4.0×10^{-5} at the 90% confidence level. Taking the total width of the D_{s}^{*+} [(0.070±0.028) keV] predicted with the radiative D_{s}^{*+} decay from the lattice QCD calculation as input, the decay constant of the D_{s}^{*+} is determined to be f_{D_{s}^{*+}}=(214_{-46_{stat}}^{+61}±44_{syst}) MeV, corresponding to an upper limit of 354 MeV at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) To assess the association of cardiac dose with post-cCRT cardiac events and survival among patients (pts) with LA-NSCLC after adoption of ICI consolidation, modern radiotherapy (RT) techniques, and data-driven cardiac constraints. MATERIALS/METHODS This single-institution, multi-site retrospective study included 335 pts with LA-NSCLC treated with definitive cCRT (60-70 Gy) from October 2017 to December 2021. Pts were evaluated for ICI consolidation. Cardiac dose constraints included heart volume receiving ≥50 Gy (V50) <25% and mean heart dose (MHD) <20 Gy. Heart, left anterior descending artery (LAD), and left ventricle were autocontoured, manually reviewed, and edited. 21 dosimetric parameters (mean dose, max dose, and min dose to the hottest x% volume [Dx%(Gy); x from 5-95 in 5% intervals]) for each were extracted, as well as LAD V15. Baseline cardiovascular disease (bCVD) was defined as heart failure (HF), coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, or cerebrovascular disease. Primary endpoint was post-cCRT major adverse cardiac events (MACE), defined as acute coronary syndrome, HF hospitalization/urgent visit, coronary revascularization, or cardiac death. Secondary endpoints were grade ≥3 cardiac events (CTCAE v5.0), overall survival (OS), cancer specific mortality (CSM), and other cause mortality (OCM). Competing risk regression was used for MACE and grade ≥3 cardiac events, and Cox regression for OS, CSM, and OCM. RESULTS Median age was 68 years, 139 (41%) had bCVD, and 225 (67%) received consolidation ICI. Proton therapy was used in 117 (35%), intensity-modulated RT in 199 (59%), and 3D conformal RT in 19 (6%). Median MHD was 8.7 Gy (IQR 4.6-14.4) and median LAD V15 1.4% (IQR 0-22). Median follow-up was 39.5 months. 35 MACE events occurred; 1- and 2-year cumulative incidence (CI) were 4.2% and 9.5%. No cardiac dosimetric parameter associated with MACE after adjusting for bCVD and age (e.g., MHD sHR 0.98/Gy, 95% CI 0.93-1.03, p = 0.43) or within the following 3 subgroups: no bCVD, photon therapy, and ICI consolidation. 87 grade ≥3 cardiac events occurred; 1- and 2- year CI were 12.6% and 20.4%. Heart dose was not associated with grade ≥3 cardiac events after adjusting for bCVD, ECOG, and BMI (e.g., MHD sHR 1.00/Gy, 95% CI 0.97-1.03, p = 0.85) or within the 3 aforesaid subgroups. 183 OS events occurred, including 125 CSM and 58 OCM events. Multiple cardiac dosimetric parameters associated with worse OS on multivariable analysis (e.g., LAD V15 HR 1.01/%, 95% CI 1.00-1.02, p = 0.003), driven by associations with CSM (LAD V15 HR 1.02/%, p<0.001) but not OCM (LAD V15 HR 1.00/%, p = 0.73). Median OS was worse for LAD V15 ≥10% (22.2 vs 35.1 months, p = 0.004). CONCLUSION Among pts with LA-NSCLC treated with cCRT after adoption of ICI consolidation, modern RT techniques, and cardiac constraints, post-cCRT cardiac events were common but showed no association with cardiac dose. Cardiac dose associated with OS, driven by an association with CSM and not OCM, which may not reflect cardiac toxicity.

Effect of Anemia on Tumor Response to Preoperative Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e301. [PMID: 37785100 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.2316] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and total rectal mesenteric resection (TME) are the primary treatment options for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC), but their efficacy varies. This study aimed to investigate the impact of anemia on the tumor response of patients with LARC receiving preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. MATERIALS/METHODS This study was a retrospective analysis of clinical and pathological data from patients with LARC who underwent nCRT and TME from January 2019 to May 2022 at a single institution. The tumor response was evaluated based on the tumor regression grade (TRG) and T-stage change of the primary tumor. Hemoglobin concentration was measured and graded to determine the presence of anemia. Anemia was categorized into four groups based on the hemoglobin levels: mild anemia (90-120 g/L), moderate anemia (60-90 g/L), severe anemia (30-60 g/L), and extreme anemia (less than 30 g/L). Finally, tumor response was quantified histologically using the AJCC 8th edition tumor regression grading system for rectal cancer and pre- and post-treatment T-grading. RESULTS A total of 88 patients with LARC who received nCRT and TME were included in the study, with 17 females and 71 males. Of these patients, 9 were moderately anemic and 37 were mildly anemic. The radiation therapy regimen was administered at a dose of 1.8-2 Gy per fraction, five times a week, for a total dose of 45-50.4 Gy. Capecitabine chemotherapy was also administered orally (825 mg/m2, twice a day) on the days of radiation therapy. Other chemotherapy regimens included XELOX and mFOLFOX6. The TRG was significantly different in anemic patients compared to non-anemic patients (P = 0.039). Only 2 out of 46 anemic patients (4%) showed an excellent response (TRG0), while 8 out of 42 non-anemic patients (19%) showed an excellent response (p = 0.043). There was also a significant difference in the incidence of anemia between cT3 and cT4 stages (p = 0.048), with 44% of cT3 patients and 67% of cT4 patients being anemic. The number of patients with poor response (TRG2-3) decreased as the degree of anemia decreased, but no significant difference was found. The incidence of TRG3 was 11% in patients with moderate anemia and 7% in non-anemic patients (P = 0.863). There was no significant difference in postoperative pathological T-stage between anemic and non-anemic patients. 89% of anemic patients had a pathological stage of ypT3 or less after chemoradiotherapy, while 95% of non-anemic patients did (P = 0.167). The pre- and post-treatment pathological staging did not significantly differ between anemic and non-anemic patients. 67% of anemic patients had descending tumors, while 59.5% of non-anemic patients had descending tumors (p = 0.509). CONCLUSION Patients with LARC who have normal hemoglobin concentrations during nCRT have better tumor regression compared to patients with anemia. Additionally, the incidence of anemia was higher among patients with advanced T-stage prior to treatment.

Life expectancy associated with different ages at diagnosis of type 2 diabetes in high-income countries: 23 million person-years of observation. Lancet Diabetes Endocrinol 2023; 11:731-742. [PMID: 37708900 PMCID: PMC7615299 DOI: 10.1016/s2213-8587(23)00223-1] [Citation(s) in RCA: 4] [Impact Index Per Article: 4.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/15/2022] [Revised: 07/14/2023] [Accepted: 07/14/2023] [Indexed: 09/16/2023]
Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing rapidly, particularly among younger age groups. Estimates suggest that people with diabetes die, on average, 6 years earlier than people without diabetes. We aimed to provide reliable estimates of the associations between age at diagnosis of diabetes and all-cause mortality, cause-specific mortality, and reductions in life expectancy. METHODS For this observational study, we conducted a combined analysis of individual-participant data from 19 high-income countries using two large-scale data sources: the Emerging Risk Factors Collaboration (96 cohorts, median baseline years 1961-2007, median latest follow-up years 1980-2013) and the UK Biobank (median baseline year 2006, median latest follow-up year 2020). We calculated age-adjusted and sex-adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for all-cause mortality according to age at diagnosis of diabetes using data from 1 515 718 participants, in whom deaths were recorded during 23·1 million person-years of follow-up. We estimated cumulative survival by applying age-specific HRs to age-specific death rates from 2015 for the USA and the EU. FINDINGS For participants with diabetes, we observed a linear dose-response association between earlier age at diagnosis and higher risk of all-cause mortality compared with participants without diabetes. HRs were 2·69 (95% CI 2·43-2·97) when diagnosed at 30-39 years, 2·26 (2·08-2·45) at 40-49 years, 1·84 (1·72-1·97) at 50-59 years, 1·57 (1·47-1·67) at 60-69 years, and 1·39 (1·29-1·51) at 70 years and older. HRs per decade of earlier diagnosis were similar for men and women. Using death rates from the USA, a 50-year-old individual with diabetes died on average 14 years earlier when diagnosed aged 30 years, 10 years earlier when diagnosed aged 40 years, or 6 years earlier when diagnosed aged 50 years than an individual without diabetes. Using EU death rates, the corresponding estimates were 13, 9, or 5 years earlier. INTERPRETATION Every decade of earlier diagnosis of diabetes was associated with about 3-4 years of lower life expectancy, highlighting the need to develop and implement interventions that prevent or delay the onset of diabetes and to intensify the treatment of risk factors among young adults diagnosed with diabetes. Early Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy to the Primary Lung Lesion for Patients with Advanced NSCLC Treated with First-Line Systemic Therapy. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:S128. [PMID: 37784330 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.474] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Although adding consolidative stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to systemic therapy improves survival in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the optimal timing of SBRT remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the clinical outcome of early and delayed SBRT to primary lung lesions of advanced NSCLC patients treated with first-line systemic therapy. MATERIALS/METHODS We identified patients with advanced NSCLC who were suitable to receiveSBRT for the primary lung tumors after first-line systemic therapy. All eligible patients were treated with first-line systemic therapy and SBRT for their primary lung lesions. Early SBRT group was defined as patients who received SBRT for their primary lung tumor at the maximal response of systemic therapy. Delayed SBRT group was defined as patients who received SBRT after the occurrence of oligoprogression in primary lung tumor. The primary endpoints were progression-free survival 1 (PFS1, time from start of first-line systemic therapy to disease progression) and PFS2 (time from start of first-line systemic therapy to disease progression after SBRT). Overall survival (OS) and adverse effects (AEs) were secondary endpoints. A two-sided P value of 0.05 was considered statistically significant. All of the statistical analyses were performed with statistical software. RESULTS A total of184 patients with advanced NSCLC treated with SBRT for primary tumors were screened, and 49 patients were eligible for enrollment in this study. The median age of the entire cohort was 66 years (range, 37-80 years), and 34 (69.4%) patients were male. Thirty-four patients (69.4%) were treated by target therapy and 15 (30.6%) were treated by chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Of the 49 eligible patients, 28(57.1%) received early SBRT to lung primary tumor and 21(42.9%) received delayed SBRT to lung primary tumor. The early SBRT group showed a significantly prolonged PFS1 as compared with the delayed SBRT group (mPFS1: 30 months vs. 8 months, P<0.001). The median PFS2 of the early SBRT group was longer than that of the delayed SBRT group, but the difference between the two groups did not achieve a statistical significance (mPFS2: 42 months vs. 23 months, P = 0.303). Median OS of both groups has not reached. No severe toxicities (≥grade 3) were observed in early SBRT group and only one patient in the delayed SBRT group experienced grade 3 radiation pneumonitis. CONCLUSION Early SBRT to the primary lung lesion significantly improved PFS and is a new potentially effective and tolerable treatment option for patients with advanced NSCLC who had stable disease during first-line systemic therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Verification of plan (VP) has been part of our pre-treatment workflow for treatment isocenter verification. Currently, our center uses simulator for VP procedure for all our patients before the treatment. We would like to investigate if SGRT could be a good substitute for VP procedure to simplify our pre-treatment workflow. MATERIALS/METHODS In Group A (A-c, A-t, A-a), 20 patients of each treatment site (cranial, thorax and abdomen) were selected randomly. Patients did not go through VP procedure. During the first fraction of treatment, the therapists were guided by SGRT system (Vision RT, UK) and aligned the patient to 3mm and 1°using a standard region of interest (ROI). First CBCT was taken as a reference to customize the ROI for better suitability. Next, the patient was re-aligned to 1mm and 1°using the new ROI. Second CBCT was acquired, and 6 degrees of freedoms shifts were recorded. In Group B (B-c, B-t, B-a), 20 patients of each treatment site (cranial, thorax and abdominal) that were assigned for VP over the same period as Group A patients. Group B patients were aligned based on the skin markings drawn during VP procedure. CBCTs were taken at the first fraction of treatment and shifts were recorded. RESULTS A total of 60 CBCT images were analyzed for each group of patients. The absolute mean and standard deviations were shown in Table 1. The results indicated that Group A is superior, if not comparable, to Group B. Table 1: The absolute mean and standard deviations of first fraction of CBCT positioning errors for Group A and B patients. CONCLUSION With appropriate ROI, SGRT is a good or superior substitute for plan verification procedure. Localization verification can be done during day one of treatment which ease the pre-treatment workflow to both patients and clinical team. Analysis of customized ROI will be further studied in the future.

An Efficient Transformer Model for Synthesizing Dual Energy CT from Single Energy Scanner. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e721-e722. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Dual-energy CT can be used to optimize radiation treatment. Recently, deep learning has been demonstrated to synthesize high-energy CT images from low-energy ones for dose reduction and lower CT system burden. As the state-of-the-art deep learning architecture, the computation burden of Transformer increases quadratically with the feature size, making the model training resource-demanding or even infeasible. Here, we introduce an efficient transformer for the balance between CT image synthesis quality and computational burden. MATERIALS/METHODS The model is a U-shape deep neural network with encoders and decoders built by Transformer blocks. The model input is low-energy 100kVp CT image and the output is high-energy 140kVp one. Each block has a Self Channel Correlation Unit (SCCU) and a Self Spatial Attention Unit (SSAU). Local shortcuts are applied for both units. Under-sampling operation achieved by pixel shuffling is used to obtain multi-scale feature maps, and the transformer block is applied on each feature scale. Symmetric skip connection sending features from shallow layers to deep layers, thus an additional 1 × 1 convolution is used for feature fusion in each decoder. In a SCCU, the feature is first mapped to one Query, one Key, and one Value. Then the Query and the Key tensors perform matrix multiplication to compute cross covariance of feature channels. The channel correlation score can be obtained by normalization of the covariance, and it is used to weight the Value tensor. As a result, the model complexity only increases linearly with the feature size. Besides the channel weighting, we enhance spatial information using SSAU, where the feature is mapped to two tensors. One tensor after activation is used to point-wisely calibrate another tensor. Additional Transformer blocks are cascaded to the last decoder for feature refinement. Because of the structure similarity of low- and high-energy CT images, a global shortcut is used to ease model training. Clinical iodine contrast-enhanced dual energy CT image datasets of 19 patients are used in this study. The dual-energy scanning is performed by a SOMATOM Definition Flash DECT scanner. We split the datasets into training dataset of 15 patients, validation dataset of 1 patient, and testing dataset of 3 patients. The image size is 512 × 512 with pixel size 0.5 × 0.5 mm2. RESULTS The U-Net model with 1.95M parameters and 44.87G FLOPS achieved the averaged PSNR value of 44.55 dB (s.t.d. 1.34) and averaged RMSE value of 0.0060 (s.t.d. 0.001). In comparison, our efficient Transformer with 1.408M parameters and 31.375G FLOPS achieved the averaged PSNR value of 44.78 dB (s.t.d. 1.37) and RMSE value of 0.0059 (s.t.d. 0.001), demonstrating our model has better performance with small model size and less computation. CONCLUSION The efficient Transformer model allows high-resolution CT image synthesis with small model scale and computation burden from low-energy CT image.
