Abstract
Improving the diagnostic technology used to detect tegumentary leishmaniasis (TL) is essential in view of it being a widespread, often neglected tropical disease with cases reported from the southern United States to northern Argentina. Recombinant proteins, recombinant multiepitope proteins, and synthetic peptides have been extensively researched and used in disease diagnosis. One of the benefits of applying these antigens is a measurable increase in sensitivity and specificity, which improves test accuracy. The present review aims to describe the antigens and their diagnostic effectiveness. With that in mind, a bibliographic survey was conducted on the PudMed platform using the search terms "tegumentary leishmaniasis" AND "diagno", revealing that recombinant proteins have been described and evaluated for their value in TL diagnosis since the 1990s. However, there was a spike in the number of publications using all of the antigens between 2013 and 2022, confirming an expansion in research efforts to improve diagnosis. Moreover, all of the studies involving different antigens had promising results, including improved sensitivity and specificity. These data recognize the importance of doing research with new technologies focused on developing quick, more effective diagnostic kits as early diagnosis facilitates treatment.

Abstract
We show, for the first time, radio measurements of the depth of shower maximum (X_{max}) of air showers induced by cosmic rays that are compared to measurements of the established fluorescence method at the same location. Using measurements at the Pierre Auger Observatory we show full compatibility between our radio and the previously published fluorescence dataset, and between a subset of air showers observed simultaneously with both radio and fluorescence techniques, a measurement setup unique to the Pierre Auger Observatory. Furthermore, we show radio X_{max} resolution as a function of energy and demonstrate the ability to make competitive high-resolution X_{max} measurements with even a sparse radio array. With this, we show that the radio technique is capable of cosmic-ray mass composition studies, both at Auger and at other experiments.

Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the thermal and mechanical performances of PET-G thermoplastics with different 3D microstructure patterns and infill densities. The production costs were also estimated to identify the most cost-effective solution. A total of 12 infill patterns were analysed, including Gyroid, Grid, Hilbert curve, Line, Rectilinear, Stars, Triangles, 3D Honeycomb, Honeycomb, Concentric, Cubic, and Octagram spiral with a fixed infill density of 25%. Different infill densities ranging from 5% to 20% were also tested to determine the best geometries. Thermal tests were conducted in a hotbox test chamber and mechanical properties were evaluated using a series of three-point bending tests. The study used printing parameters to meet the construction sector's specific needs, including a larger nozzle diameter and printing speed. The internal microstructures led to variations of up to 70% in thermal performance and up to 300% in mechanical performance. For each geometry, the mechanical and thermal performance was highly correlated with the infill pattern, where higher infill improved thermal and mechanical performances. The economic performance showed that, in most cases, except for the Honeycomb and 3D Honeycomb, there were no significant cost differences between infill geometries. These findings can provide valuable insights for selecting the optimal 3D printing parameters in the construction industry.

Limits to Gauge Coupling in the Dark Sector Set by the Nonobservation of Instanton-Induced Decay of Super-Heavy Dark Matter in the Pierre Auger Observatory Data. Abstract
Instantons, which are nonperturbative solutions to Yang-Mills equations, provide a signal for the occurrence of quantum tunneling between distinct classes of vacua. They can give rise to decays of particles otherwise forbidden. Using data collected at the Pierre Auger Observatory, we search for signatures of such instanton-induced processes that would be suggestive of super-heavy particles decaying in the Galactic halo. These particles could have been produced during the post-inflationary epoch and match the relic abundance of dark matter inferred today. The nonobservation of the signatures searched for allows us to derive a bound on the reduced coupling constant of gauge interactions in the dark sector: α_{X}≲0.09, for 10^{9}≲M_{X}/GeV<10^{19}. Conversely, we obtain that, for instance, a reduced coupling constant α_{X}=0.09 excludes masses M_{X}≳3×10^{13} GeV. In the context of dark matter production from gravitational interactions alone, we illustrate how these bounds are complementary to those obtained on the Hubble rate at the end of inflation from the nonobservation of tensor modes in the cosmological microwave background.

Abstract
We present the case of a 41-year-old man with Rapp-Hodgkin syndrome who underwent nasal septum deviation surgery under general anaesthesia. This syndrome is rare, with approximately 70 cases reported worldwide. It is one of a group of ectodermal dysplasia syndromes and results from the aberrant development of ectoderm during fetal development. Some of the clinical features may affect anaesthetic management. The most important considerations are potentially difficult airway management, the need for meticulous temperature control, and the importance of skin protection. This case was uneventful, but as there are few case reports on the management of patients with ectodermal dysplasia syndromes undergoing anaesthesia this report contributes useful knowledge. The pathogenesis and clinical features of Rapp-Hodgkin syndrome and the anaesthetic management for this patient are described.

Abstract
Abstract
Background and aim
Dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) is a well-established non-invasive investigation for significant coronary artery disease (CAD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of cardiac Doppler parameters in predecting CAD.
Methods
We prospectively studied 103 consecutive patients with suspected CAD based on typical symptoms, 59 proved to have CAD and 44 patients proved to have no-CAD (n=44). All patients underwent a complete stress Doppler echocardiographic examination, including tissue Doppler, long axis velocities and total isovolumic time (T-IVT) as a marker of cavity dyssynchrony, determined as [60 − (total ejection time (ET) + total filling time (FT))]. The wall motion score index (WMSI) was also calculated.
Results
CAD patients were older, had less females, less prevalent cardiac risk factors and higher CT calcium score compared to patients with no-CAD (p<0.05, for all). At peak dobutamine stress the compromised LV longitudinal excursion (MAPSE), systolic septal and lateral velocities (s'), TAPSE and diastolic indices were more pronounced in the CAD patients compared to those without CAD, but LV dimension did not differ between groups (p>0.05). The WMSI was higher and t-IVT more prolonged in patients with CAD (p<0.01, for both). Similarly, the changes were more pronounced in patients with significant CAD compared to insignificant CAD.
On multivariate model, delta mean s' OR 2.016 (1.610–3.490, p<0.001), delta E velocity OR 1.822 (1.179–2.360, p<0.001), delta t-IVT OR 1.406 (1.180–2.180, p<0.001), and delta FT OR 1.911 (1.401–2.710, p=0.001), were the most powerful independent predictors of the presence of CAD, particularly when significant (>50%). Delta mean s' <5.0 was 85% sensitive, 89% specific with AUC 0.92. Respective values for delta E velocity <6.0 cm/s were 82%, 90% and 0.91; for delta t-IVT >4.5, 78%, 77% and 0.81 and for delta FT ≥150ms, 76%, 78% and 0.84 in predicating significant CAD. WMSI≥0.7 was 75% sensitive, 77% specific with AUC of 0.81 in predicting significant CAD. The accuracy of DSE was higher in significant CAD compared to insignificant CAD (80% vs 74%; p=0.03).
Conclusions
Compromised LV longitudinal systolic function, lower delta E wave, prolonged t-IVT and increased WMSI were the most powerful independent predictors of the presence and significance of CAD. These finding strengthen the role of comprehensive DSE analysis in diagnosing ischaemic disturbances secondary to significant CAD.

Abstract
People with intellectual developmental disorders are vulnerable to somatic and mental illnesses, often presenting with behavioural changes. Through an intriguing and uncommon case report, we aim to provide an overview of behavioural changes in patients with an intellectual developmental disorder, emphasizing the need for screening for non-psychiatric conditions. We present a clinical case of a 57-year-old man with a personal history of intellectual developmental disorder, epilepsy, and alcohol and tobacco abuse. He had a previous acute psychiatric admission in 2017 due to behaviour disorganization and irritability. In April 2019, he was readmitted with disorganized behaviour and caregiver exhaustion. On the 58th day of hospitalization, he fell off his bed and suffered a mild traumatic brain injury. A cerebral CT scan revealed two metastatic lesions in the brain. Further investigations discovered a primary neoplastic lung lesion with metastasis to pulmonary lymph nodes. This case emphasizes that despite a long follow-up with psychiatry services, physical illness should be considered when patients with intellectual developmental disorders present with behavioural changes as they can precede image and laboratory findings. Additionally, further studies are needed in order to provide guidelines and proper medical and psychosocial care for this particular population and the caregivers.

Abstract
Introduction Mental health problems (MHP) are common among elite athletes (EA) and have received increased attention recently, revealing the need to assess them properly. Although EA are increasingly speaking out on their own MHP in public, research-informed approaches for practitioners are still lacking. Objectives We aim to perform an overview of the MPH among EA, emphasizing the potential risk factors and interventions. Methods We conduct a non-systematic review of the recent evidence on the topic using PubMed/Medline database. Results Although EA have comparable prevalence rates of MHP to the general population, they are exposed to various sports-related stressors. Studies reveal that 50% of EA face MHP during their career, with onset peak around 19 years. Therefore, there is a need for early detection and intervention. Burnout, alcohol abuse, anxiety, depression, insomnia and eating disorders are some MHP reported. Their management should address psychosocial and environmental aspects. Psychoeducation and psychotherapy are considered the first line treatment. Moreover, EA may encounter barriers to seeking mental healthcare. Therefore, it is important to promote positive attitudes about MHP, create an environment that supports mental well-being, resilience, psychological flexibility, self-compassion and coping skills. Screening tools may facilitate the process, so there is a need for validated athlete-specific questionnaires for MHP screening and measuring. Conclusions Mental health is an integral dimension of EA wellbeing and performance and should be assessed. Specific programs to support EA mental health are recommended and research targeting common MHP for athletes are needed to better understand how to minimize their distress. Introduction
Myocardial deformation parameters, derived from three-dimensional (3D) speckle-tracking echocardiography (3DSTE) are useful tools to determine left ventricular (LV) systolic function, and are often abnormal before a decline in ejection fraction (EF).
Aims
To study the correlation between systolic function evaluated by myocardial deformation parameters obtained by 3DSTE and functional capacity in patients with HCM.
Methods
HCM patients seen prospectively at outpatient cardiomyopathy clinic at a tertiary centre were included. Systolic function was assessed by strain measures – global longitudinal, circumferential and radial strain - obtain by 3DSTE, LVEF by 2D and 3D echocardiography were also assessed. Functional capacity was evaluated by CPET.
Results
Of 67 P with HCM (mean age 57 ± 14 years, 41 males), 38 P (56.7%) were in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class I, 24 (35.8%) in class II and 5 (7.5%) in class III. 46P (68.7%) had obstructive (HCM), with a maximum LV wall thickness (MWT) of 20 (7) mm. 3DSTE and CPET parameters are reported in Table 1.
Absolute values of 3D global radial strain showed correlation with pVO2 (r=-0.336, p = 0.006), as well as longitudinal strain (r=-0.280, p= 0.024). No association was found between LVEF and pVO2. MWT did not correlate with 3DSTE strain measures.
Conclusion
Impaired myocardial deformation was associated with worse functional capacity assessed by peak oxygen consumption.

Abstract
We present the first measurement of the fluctuations in the number of muons in extensive air showers produced by ultrahigh energy cosmic rays. We find that the measured fluctuations are in good agreement with predictions from air shower simulations. This observation provides new insights into the origin of the previously reported deficit of muons in air shower simulations and constrains models of hadronic interactions at ultrahigh energies. Our measurement is compatible with the muon deficit originating from small deviations in the predictions from hadronic interaction models of particle production that accumulate as the showers develop.

Abstract
Introduction Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), usually caused by a parathyroid adenoma, is characterized by a pathologically high secretion of parathyroid hormone and consequent hypercalcemia. PHPT has a high prevalence among elderly patients and might be responsible for neuropsychiatric symptoms. Objectives We aim to report the rare manifestation of acute psychosis accompanying a PHPT diagnosis, and to discuss the neurobiological relationship between hyperparathyroidism, hypercalcaemia and neuropsychiatric symptoms. Methods We present a clinical case based on patient’s history and clinical data, along with a literature review on PHPT neuropsychiatric symptons. Results We present the case of a 68-year-old man diagnosed with PHPT in November 2019. He was brought up to psychiatric evaluation for the first time in May 2020 upon behavioral changes (aggressiveness and bizarre rituals). The patient described the sensation of burns scattered throughout the body since January 2020, felling anxious and frightened, sleeping poorly and progressive social isolation. He presented delusional ideas of mystical and paranoid content. No significant cognitive impairments were found. The patient’s psychosis was partially responsive to atypical antipsychotics. He’s waiting for surgery. Hypercalcaemia might manifest as mood disorders, cognitive changes and rarely as acute psychosis. Although there is not yet a clear mechanism to explain it, high calcium levels seem to cause neurotoxicity and neurotransmission dysfunction. Restoration of normal calcium levels tend to resolve neuropsychiatric symptoms, but in PHPT parathyroidectomy is usually recommended. Conclusions Neuropsychiatric symptoms are responsible for great disability, and demand an organic in-depth investigation. A multidisciplinary team approach must always be considered in the management of such conditions.

Abstract
IntroductionAnimal hoarding is characterized by hoarding of a large number of animals without providing minimum conditions of nutrition and sanitation, accompanied by lack of insight for the behavior and by social isolation. Despite studies detecting an increasing incidence, the behavior is still poorly understood.ObjectivesTo review clinical evidence on animal hoarding and to report a clinical case.MethodsWe report a clinical case based on patient’s history and clinical data, along with a review of the literature on animal hoarding. The terms “Noah syndrome” and “animal hoarding disorder” were searched on PubMed® database.ResultsWe present the case of a 51-years-old woman, living alone, with higher education. His first contact with psychiatry was in August 2019 upon aggravated self-neglect and behavioral disorganization. She was living with around 40 cats, her home was extremely deteriorated. In December 2019 she was admitted to a psychiatric unit. A schizophrenia diagnosis was established and pharmacological treatment was initiated. She was discharged to a chronic psychiatric institution. Studies found out that animal hoarders are typically middle age/older women living alone in squalid conditions. Animal hoarding is characterized by a chronic course and intense emotional attachment to animals. It seems to be associated with traumatic situations, as well as mental disorders such as schizophrenia or dementia. Published data on intervention and treatment is still limited.ConclusionsAnimal hoarding phenomenon requires further investigation, regarding developmental risk factors and co-morbid mental disorders. Comprehensive approaches to clinical intervention and management strategies in animal hoarding are necessary.

Abstract
Introduction In the late XIXth century Kraepelin described a new nosologic division for the psycothic disorders – Paranoia and Dementia Praecox. He emphasized that dementia praecox is a central nervous system disease, involving permanent lesions on cerebral cortex. Besides biological deterioration, it appears as the result of psychic degenerative process. From the mid-20th century onward, antipsychotic drugs had been robustly generalized, and in parallel to the current classifications, residual symptoms in schizophrenia tend to be rare but still prevail in our patients. Objectives The aim of our work is to report a clinical case of residual schizophrenia in parallel with the classic classification of Dementia Praecox and also do an overview of this disorder and its historical perspective. Methods We conducted clinical interviews with the patient and family members, reviewed clinical records and conducted a query in the MEDLINE database using the terms " Dementia Praecox ", “Psychosis”, “Paranoia”, “Kraepelin”, “History”. Results We present the clinical case of a 74-year-old man with onset of psychotic symptoms on his twenties and diagnosed with Schizophrenia. In the past years, after acute psychotic episodes it was increasingly difficult to return to prior levels of functioning. Currently, he was brought to psychiatric emergency ward presenting bizarre behavior, stereotyped movements and speech disturbances, which reveal disorganized thinking and inability to express his emotions. Conclusions Although these syndromes are nowadays relatively rare, it is important to keep them in mind, in order to understand the natural progression of psychotic diseases, improve their rehabilitative treatment and prognosis. Abstract
Introduction The psychiatric care paradigm has shifted towards community-centered models. Yet, prolonged hospitalizations are still a reality, with debated impact at healthcare systems and patients. Objectives This work aims to describe prolonged hospitalizations in acute psychiatric wards through patients’ sociodemographic and clinical data. Methods We analyzed a national hospitalization database that contained all hospitalization episodes registered in Portuguese public hospitals from 2008 to 2015. All episodes with a primary diagnosis of mental disorder defined as ICD-9-CM codes 290.x-319.x were included. Prolonged hospitalizations were defined as having a LoS ≥ P97.5; LOS ≥180 days or LOS ≥1 year. Age, sex, lengh of stay, in-hospital mortality were analysed. Results The LoS ≥ P97.5(≥62 days) group comprised 3911 hospitalizations (2.3% of all psychiatric hospitalizations) and 1755 patients. The median LOS was 81 days and the mean age was 51 years. Sex was equally distributed, though a higher frequency of male patients was found on the ≥180 days (n=364) and ≥ 1 year (n=121) groups. Psychotic disorders were the main diagnosis at discharge (n= 1769, 45.2%), followed by mood disorders (n=1057, 27.0%) and dementia (n=451, 11.5%). In-hospital mortality increased in the higher LoS groups (1.1%; 4.4%; 9.1%, respectively). Conclusions Overall, middle aged patients with psychotic disorders represent most of the prolonged hospitalizations occurring in acute psychiatric wards. Community-based programs require further development to meet the existing needs. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Introduction
Acute myocarditis (AM) is generally a self-limited and benign disease. However, a minority of patients (pts) present or develop adverse outcomes. It has been proposed that the presence of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in the septum is associated with worse prognosis. Also, the presence of LGE without oedema in follow-up cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) seems to reflect more permanent lesions.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to determine if the presence of septal LGE in acute-phase CMR was associated with higher extent of disease in follow-up CMR and if initial laboratory tests help to predict the evolution to more permanent lesions.
Methods
Prospective single-centre study of pts admitted with AM diagnosed according to clinical findings, troponin T elevation and CMR criteria (Lake Louise), since 1/2013. Selection of those who underwent acute-phase (CMR-I) and follow-up CMR (CMR-II).
Results
Of 88 pts admitted with AM, 46 fulfilled our inclusion criteria: median age 31 ± 13 years, 85% males. CMR-I was performed at 6 ± 5days and LGE was present in 43 pts (93.5%). CMR-II was performed at 8 ± 4.3 months and 29 pts (63%) improved the number of LGE-positive segments, 10 pts (21.8%) had stable disease and 7 pts (15.2%) worsened CMR findings. Septal-LGE was detected in 10 pts (21.7%) in CMR-I and in 6 pts (13.0%) in CMR-II. Logistic regression analysis identified septal-LGE in CMR-I as a predictor of higher extent of LGE in CMR-II (OR 1.4, 95%CI 1.1-1.9, p = 0.020). Although median values of maximum high-sensitivity troponin and reactive-C protein (RCP) were not associated with septal LGE in CMR-I, increasing values of such tests were univariate predictors of a higher likelihood of septal involvement in CMR-II: maximum troponin (886 vs 1852ng/L; OR 1.00, 95%CI 1.00-1.00 p = 0.017) and RCP (4.2 vs 13.9mg/dL; OR 1.17, 95%CI 1.04-1.33, p = 0.012). After multivariate analysis, RCP was the independent predictor of septal LGE in CMR-II (AUC 80.8, 0.97-0.91, p = 0.012). RCP cut-off value >10.2mg/dL identified patients with septal LGE in CMR-II with a sensitivity and specificity of 83.3% and 85.0%, respectively. The presence of cardiovascular risk factors, clinical presentation and B-type natriuretic peptide values were not predictors of septal LGE in either CMR. In a mean clinical follow-up of 757 ± 476days, no patient died, 3 pts (6.5%) developed new-onset heart failure (NYHA class II functional symptoms) and 2 pts (4.3%) developed ventricular arrhythmias. Due to a small number of adverse events, neither laboratory tests nor LGE septal pattern predicted adverse outcomes.
Conclusions
In this population, septal LGE pattern was able to predict higher extent of LGE in follow-up CMR. Increased cardiac biomarkers and inflammatory proteins in the acute setting were also associated with septal involvement in follow-up and can potentially help to establish the risk of adverse events for patients admitted with acute myocarditis.

Objective
To analyze the relationship between coronary microvascular dysfunction (MCD) and left ventricular (LV) myocardial deformation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
Methods
Prospectively inclusion of HCM patients (P). MCD was assessed by CMR, during regadenoson-induced hyperemia. For perfusion assessment, the myocardium was divided into 32 subsegments (16 AHA segments subdivided into an endocardial and epicardial layer). Ischemic burden was calculated as the number of involved subsegments, assigning 3% of myocardium to each subsegment. Epicardial coronary artery disease was excluded by computed tomography or invasive coronary angiography.
LV myocardial deformation was evaluated by 2D and 3D speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE), including global longitudinal strain (GLS), peak systolic dispersion (PDS), global circumferential strain (GCS), global radial strain (GRS), area strain, twist and torsion.
Results
31 P enrolled (51%male,age57.8 ± 15.5years). Asymmetric septal hypertrophy was seen in 55%, apical in 29%, concentric in 16%,maximal wall thickness (MWT) of 20.5 ± 4.9mm; 26% with LVOT obstruction; LV ejection fraction 67.9 ± 7.9%.
In 2DSTE analysis, P with more ischemia (>20%of LV) presented more severe impaired GLS and greater PDS, comparing with patients with ≤20% of ischemia.
Similarly, 3DSTE imaging showed worse LV performance in P with greater ischemic burden, expressed by significant difference in GLS, GRS and area strain. GCS also trended to be worse in the presence of >20% of ischemia.
The stronger correlation was found between 2D GLS and ischemic burden (Pearson correlation factor 0.545; p = 0.002).
Conclusion
In HCM, the severity of ischemia secondary to MCD was associated with impairment in LV myocardial deformation evaluated by 2D and 3D STE.

Abstract
Flow coefficients v_{n} of the orders n=1-6 are measured with the High-Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI for protons, deuterons, and tritons as a function of centrality, transverse momentum, and rapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.4 GeV. Combining the information from the flow coefficients of all orders allows us to construct for the first time, at collision energies of a few GeV, a multidifferential picture of the angular emission pattern of these particles. It reflects the complicated interplay between the effect of the central fireball pressure on the emission of particles and their subsequent interaction with spectator matter. The high precision information on higher order flow coefficients is a major step forward in constraining the equation of state of dense baryonic matter.

The influence of age on the diagnostic yield of genetic testing in dilated cardiomyopathy. Eur Heart J 2020. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) has an estimated population prevalence of 1/250 and is the underlying diagnosis in a third of heart failure patients. A substantial proportion of patients have familial disease caused by dominant mutations in one of more than 50 genes, but clinical practice guidelines recommend genetic testing in young patients with idiopathic DCM. There is an absence of robust data on the influence of age on the diagnostic yield of genetic testing.
Methods
The study cohort comprised 825 consecutive and unrelated patients (524 male (63.5%)) with DCM who underwent genetic testing from 2015 to 2019. Genetic variants were classified using American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) criteria. Analyses were stratified by age and sex.
Results
173 (20.1%) patients had a positive genetic test (“pathogenic” or “likely pathogenic” variant); 292 (34.4%) had a variant of unknown significance. Mean age at genetic testing was 49.9±14.4 years. Mean age of patients with a positive test was 47.6±13.6 years. 99 (18.9%) men and 67 (22.3%) women had a positive test (p=0.246).
Mutations in the TTN gene, encoding for titin, accounted for 46.1% of positive results. 13.8% of mutations were in DSP, 8.4% in RBM20, 6% in FLNC, 4.2% in LMNA, 3.6% in BAG3 and 3.6% in MYH7.
There was a trend to declining yield with age (likelihood ratio chi-square p value = 0.047). The yield was 17.2% in the 56–65 year age group and 11.5% above 66 years of age (figure 1).
Conclusions
Approximately 1 in 5 patients with DCM had a positive genetic test. The yield declined in patients over 66 years but remained above 11%, suggesting that genetic testing should not be confined to younger patients with DCM.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the main cause of sudden cardiac death in the young and a cause of heart failure and death at any age. Nevertheless, adverse long-term outcomes are not easy to predict.
Objectives
To assess the prevalence, predictors and prognostic value of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction in patients (pts) with HCM.
Methods
Retrospective single-center study of consecutive pts with HCM evaluated in a specialized medical appointment. Selected those submitted to cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the gold-standard for RV function assessment. The primary endpoint was a composite of cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, ventricular arrhythmias with hemodynamic instability and unplanned heart failure admission.
Results
Were included 112 pts (mean age at first appointment 57±15 years, 63% male). Septal asymmetric phenotype was the most frequent (75%), with a mean septal wall thickness of 18±4 mm. Late gadolinium enhancement was observed in 82%, mostly intramyocardial (67%) and in joint points (47%).
RV dysfunction was detected in 6 pts (5.4%) and RV free wall hypertrophy in 3 pts (2.7%); no patient presented RV dilation.
Factors associated with RV dysfunction were left atria area (HR 1.07/unit, 95% CI 1.01–1.12, p=0.02), left ventricular ejection fraction (HR 0.91/unit, 95% CI 0.86–0.97, p=0.02) and the presence of left ventricle wall motion abnormalities (HR 7, 95% CI 1.3–38, p=0.03) in cardiac MRI.
During a mean follow-up of 60±31 months, the combined primary endpoint occurred in 15 pts (13%), significantly more in pts with RV dysfunction (HR 5.1, 95% CI 1.1–24, p=0.038) (graphic 1). Patients with RV dysfunction also presented more atrial fibrillation / flutter episodes during follow-up (HR 6.4, 95% CI 2.1–20, p=0.001).
Conclusions
Although not common, right ventricular dysfunction was associated with a higher rate of cardiovascular events. These results support a potential role of right ventricular function in the risk stratification of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Abstract
Radiative transition of an excited baryon to a nucleon with emission of a virtual massive photon converting to dielectron pair (Dalitz decays) provides important information about baryon-photon coupling at low q2 in timelike region. A prominent enhancement in the respective electromagnetic transition Form Factors (etFF) at q2 near vector mesons ρ/ω poles has been predicted by various calculations reflecting strong baryon-vector meson couplings. The understanding of these couplings is also of primary importance for the interpretation of the emissivity of QCD matter studied in heavy ion collisions via dilepton emission. Dedicated measurements of baryon Dalitz decays in proton-proton and pion-proton scattering with HADES detector at GSI/FAIR are presented and discussed. The relevance of these studies for the interpretation of results obtained from heavy ion reactions is elucidated on the example of the HADES results.

Abstract
We report a measurement of the energy spectrum of cosmic rays above 2.5×10^{18} eV based on 215 030 events. New results are presented: at about 1.3×10^{19} eV, the spectral index changes from 2.51±0.03(stat)±0.05(syst) to 3.05±0.05(stat)±0.10(syst), evolving to 5.1±0.3(stat)±0.1(syst) beyond 5×10^{19} eV, while no significant dependence of spectral features on the declination is seen in the accessible range. These features of the spectrum can be reproduced in models with energy-dependent mass composition. The energy density in cosmic rays above 5×10^{18} eV is [5.66±0.03(stat)±1.40(syst)]×10^{53} erg Mpc^{-3}.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
In 2017, the risk-weighted prevalence of alcohol consumption was the health indicator with a more negative impact on the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation Sustainable Development Goals Health Index Value in Portugal. According to data from 2012-14, the Alto Tâmega and Barroso (ATB) had the highest value of Years of potential life lost (YPLL) in North Portugal - 4570,1/10.000 people. Liver chronic disease was the specific cause of death that contributed to the value of YPLL - 465,4/10.000 people.
Methods
A cross-sectional study was conducted with data from the Northern Health Administration and the General Directorate for Intervention on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies. We compared the number of patients with chronic alcohol consumption (CAC) in 2018, the leading causes of death between 2012-14, the main morbidity causes according to data from primary healthcare (PHC) physicians in 2018 and the number of patients in specialized treatment team (STT) for alcohol abuse treatment in 2018 in ATB.
Results
In 2018, 2643 patients of ATB had a diagnosis of CAC; only 178 were followed by an STT. Although CAC had a massive influence on YPLL, this was only the 11º cause of morbidity in ATB according to the data from PHC. The number of women with CAC was stable between 2012 (n = 284) and 2018 (n = 291). In the same period, there was an increase of 52,86% of CAC on men (n = 1523 to n = 2348).
Even though 18,4% of YPLL due to chronic liver disease happen in women, only 11,2%of the patients with CAC in the PHC are women.
Conclusions
There is a need for the improvement of CAC diagnosis in PHC, and the improvement of referral of patients to STT and hospital care. Besides, to reach the SDG3, there is the need to work intensely on SDG 17 (partnership for the goals). The Public Health Unit of ATB is organizing Operation PROMETEU to improve communication, institutional collaboration, and monitoring of the existing health activities that are tackling CAC.
Key messages
The need to integrate data from different healthcare sources for a better analysis on health problems. The urgent need to tackle the alcohol abuse problem in ATB.

Evaluation of the influence of light-curing units on the degree of conversion in depth of a bulk-fill resin. J Clin Exp Dent 2020; 12:e1117-e1123. Abstract
Background It is known that bulk-fill have been widely studied and used by dentists in the clinic. However, the use of light-curing units that do not have the ability to adequately light-cure these materials at the appropriate depth can affect their clinical performance. The aim of this study was evaluating the influence of 5 different light curing units (LCUs) on the degree of conversion (DC) of a bulk-fill resin at depths of 0 to 4 mm and determined the effect of using 20s exposure and 40s.
Material and Methods Cylinders of composite were made in a stainless steel matrix (n=10). The specimens were exposed from the top surface using 5 LCUs: Valo® Cordless (VA); Radii Plus (RA); Emitter.D (EM), Biolux Plus (BI), Woodpecker® (WO). The emission wavelength and the power density was determined. After the photoactivation, the Raman vibrational modes were calculated taking as reference the peaks at 1,601 (aromatic bonds C=C) and 1,640 cm-1 (aliphatic bonds C=C).
Results The largest difference in DC in 20s, comparing the values obtained in the first and last layer is for BI, with a variation from 61.24% to 53.86%. Comparing the LCUs, the last layer in 40s DC values are 57.40% (BI), 58.21% (WO), 58.97% (VA), 60.90% (RA) and 62.42% (EM). The higher the dose (J/cm²) and the close the λmax is to the maximum CQ absorption length (λmax ~ 470 nm) the better the DC value.
Conclusions There was a significant difference in the DC values between the LCUs with increasing depth of the bulk-fill increments. Results indicate significant differences in DC among the different LCUs as well as enhanced DC when using 40s exposure compared to 20s. It is suggested that for DC improvement using lower power photoactivator increase the exposure time the exposure time should be 20s to 40s. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Myocardial ischemia constitutes one of the most important pathophysiological features in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Chronic and recurrent myocardial ischemia leads to fibrosis, which may culminate in myocardial dysfunction.
Objective
To analyse the relationship between left ventricular (LV) morphology and systolic performance and coronary microcirculatory dysfunction in HCM.
Methods
The present study prospectively included HCM patients (P) who underwent transthoracic echocardiography. Left ventricular (LV) function was evaluated by ejection fraction (LVEF), global longitudinal strain (GLS) and tissue Doppler septal and lateral s’. The evaluation of coronary flow velocity reserve (CFVR) was performed in apical three chambers view for the left anterior descending (LAD) artery and in an apical three chambers view for the posterior descending (PD) artery. Diastolic coronary flow velocity was measured in basal conditions and in hyperemia, induced by adenosine perfusion (0.14 mg/kg/min intravenously, during 2 minutes). Absolute CFVR was calculated as the ratio of hyperemic to basal peak diastolic flow velocities; relative CFVR was calculated as the ratio between CFVR LAD and CFVR PD.
Results
23 P were enrolled (57% male, mean age 57.9 ± 13.7 years). Asymmetric septal hypertrophy was verified in 70% of P, with maximal wall thickness of 21.6 ± 4.3mm. Obstructive HCM was documented in 35% of patients.
CFV was successfully measured in the LAD in all patients, but only in 70% of patients in the PD due to technical issues related to poor acoustic window and anatomical constraints. 78% of P (n = 18) presented CFVR <2, denoting microcirculatory dysfunction. Relative CFVR (LAD CFVR/ PD CFVR) was ≥1 in 43% of P.
P with maximal wall thickness (MWT)>20mm presented higher CFV PD at baseline (46.5 ± 17.4 vs 32.5 ± 12.6 cm/s; p = 0.072), lower CFVR PD (1.3 ± 0.3 vs 2.5 ± 0.8; p = 0.003) and greater regional difference of microcirculation (relative CFVR 1.4 ± 0.6 vs 0.8 ± 0.3; p = 0.048).
At baseline conditions, CFV LAD was higher in obstructive HCM (44.0 ± 4.8 vs 35.3 ± 10.6 cm/s; p = 0.040).
P with impairment in global longitudinal strain (GLS>-18%) had higher basal CFV LAD (40.1 ± 8.6 vs 30.0 ± 12.2 cm/s; p = 0.059) and PD (44.5 ± 15.2 vs 20.0 ± 5.0 cm/s; p = 0.015) but lower CFVR PD (1.5 ± 0.5 vs 2.8 ± 1.1; p = 0.039). The reduction in CFVR PD was also noted in P with time to peak longitudinal strain dispersion >90mseg (CFVR PD 1.2 ± 0.2vs1.9 ± 0.9;p = 0.012).
Conclusion
Higher CFV at baseline was noted in P with greater MWT, obstructive HCM and worse GLS. Coronary microcirculatory dysfunction was associated with the degree of LV hypertrophy and impairment in LV systolic performance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The long-term relations between excessive adiposity in early childhood and unfavourable cardiometabolic profiles in later ages are not yet completely understood. We aimed to assess the associations between birth weight (BW) and BMI from 6 months to 6 years of age, with biomarkers indicative of low-grade inflammation, insulin resistance and lipid profiles in adolescence. METHODS AND RESULTS Retrospective school-based study with 415 Portuguese adolescents (220 girls), mean age of 14.08 ± 1.6 years old. Anthropometric data from birth to 6 years old was extracted from individual child health book records. Actual weight and height were measured and BMI calculated. Participants were classified at each time point as normal weight or overweight according to WHO reference values. Biomarkers were obtained from venous blood samples. Linear regressions were used to explore the associations between the biomarkers and early life anthropometric indicators. From 2 years onwards, BMI associated positively with the inflammatory score and HOMA-IR in adolescence. Children who were overweight/obese from 2 to 6 years of age presented significantly higher inflammatory score and HOMA-IR later in adolescence. TC/HDL ratio was also positively associated with BMI from the age of 5 years onwards. The associations between BMI and cardiometabolic outcomes remained positive in adolescence, with overweight adolescents presenting a higher inflammatory score, HOMA-IR and TC/HDL than normal weight adolescents. CONCLUSION A high BMI from an early age was consistently associated with worse inflammatory and lipid profiles and insulin resistance in adolescence. No associations were found between BW and the same studied outcomes.

Abstract
We present the first observation of K^{-} and ϕ absorption within nuclear matter by means of π^{-}-induced reactions on C and W targets at an incident beam momentum of 1.7 GeV/c studied with HADES at SIS18/GSI. The double ratio (K^{-}/K^{+})_{W}/(K^{-}/K^{+})_{C} is found to be 0.319±0.009(stat)_{-0.012}^{+0.014}(syst) indicating a larger absorption of K^{-} in heavier targets as compared to lighter ones. The measured ϕ/K^{-} ratios in π^{-}+C and π^{-}+W reactions within the HADES acceptance are found to be equal to 0.55±0.04(stat)_{-0.07}^{+0.06}(syst) and to 0.63±0.06(stat)_{-0.11}^{+0.11}(syst), respectively. The similar ratios measured in the two different reactions demonstrate for the first time experimentally that the dynamics of the ϕ meson in nuclear medium is strongly coupled to the K^{-} dynamics. The large difference in the ϕ production off C and W nuclei is discussed in terms of a strong ϕN in-medium coupling. These results are relevant for the description of heavy-ion collisions and the structure of neutron stars.

Abstract
The HADES collaboration uses the e+e− production as a probe of the resonance matter produced in collisions at incident energies of 1-3.5 GeV/nucleon at GSI. Elementary reactions provide useful references for these studies and give information on resonance Dalitz decays (R→Ne+e−). Such processes are sensitive to the structure of time-like electromagnetic baryon transitions in a kinematic range where (off-shell) vector mesons play a crucial role. Results obtained in proton-proton reactions and in a commissioning pion-beam experiment are reported and prospects for future pion beam experiments and for first hyperon Dalitz decay measurements are described. The connection with the investigations of medium effects to be continued with HADES in the next years at SIS18 and SIS100 is also discussed.

Abstract
Clinical and pre-clinical evidences indicate an association between inflammation and depression since increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines are associated with depression-related symptoms. Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering statin that possesses pleiotropic effects including neuroprotective and antidepressant actions. However, the putative neuroprotective effect of atorvastatin treatment in the acute inflammation mice model of depressive-like behaviour has not been investigated. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the effect of atorvastatin treatment on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced depressive-like behaviour in mice. Mice were treated with atorvastatin (1 or 10 mg/kg, v.o.) or fluoxetine (30 mg/kg, positive control, v.o.) for 7 days before LPS (0.5 mg/kg, i.p.) injection. Twenty four hours after LPS infusion, mice were submitted to the forced swim test, tail suspension test or open field test. After the behavioural tests, mice were sacrificed and the levels of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glutathione and malondialdehyde were measured. Atorvastatin (1 or 10 mg/kg/day) or fluoxetine treatment prevented LPS-induced increase in the immobility time in the forced swim and tail suspension tests with no alterations in the locomotor activity evaluated in the open field test. Atorvastatin (1 or 10 mg/kg/day) or fluoxetine treatment also prevented LPS-induced increase in TNF-α and reduction of BDNF levels in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. Treatment with atorvastatin (1 or 10 mg/kg/day) or fluoxetine prevented LPS-induced increase in lipid peroxidation and the reduction of glutathione levels in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. The present study suggests that atorvastatin treatment exerted neuroprotective effects against LPS-induced depressive-like behaviour which may be related to reduction of TNF-α release, oxidative stress and modulation of BDNF expression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The associations between fruit and vegetable consumption and high blood pressure among adults are well studied. Nonetheless, data on the influence of a low consumption of fruit and vegetables on cardiovascular disease risk, particularly blood pressure, among healthy adolescents are scarce. Therefore, we aim to analyse the associations between fruit and/or vegetable intake and blood pressure over a two-year period in healthy adolescents. METHODS AND RESULTS As part of a cohort, 606 adolescents from the LabMed Physical Activity study were evaluated in 2011 (baseline) and 2013 (follow-up). Blood pressure was measured according to standardized procedures and fruit and vegetable consumption was assessed with a food frequency questionnaire. Anthropometric variables, socioeconomic status, pubertal stage and lifestyle determinants were gathered and used as confounders. Prospective associations between fruit and/or vegetable intake and blood pressure were examined using generalized linear models. Girls who consumed more fruit at baseline had a significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure at follow-up [unstandardized beta: -0.005 mmHg (95%CI: -0.01; -0.0002) (p = 0.038)]. CONCLUSION In apparently healthy adolescents, fruit intake may already start to have an effect in blood pressure. Girls who consumed more fruit exhibited lower levels of diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Muscular fitness is an emerging predictor for cardiovascular disease mortality. The ideal cardiovascular health metrics has been inversely related to a subsequent cardiometabolic health in adulthood. However, evidence regarding muscular fitness and ideal cardiovascular health in adolescents is scarce. This study aimed to examine the longitudinal association between ideal cardiovascular health index and muscular fitness. METHODS AND RESULTS This study cohort consisted of 331 adolescents (183 girls) from the LabMed Physical Activity Study who were followed from 2011 to 2013. Ideal cardiovascular health, as defined by the American Heart Association, was determined as meeting ideal health factors (total cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose) and behaviors (smoking status, body mass index, physical activity, and diet). Handgrip strength and standing long jump tests assessed muscular fitness and were transformed into standardized values according to age and sex. ANCOVA showed a significant association between the accumulation of ideal cardiovascular health metrics at baseline and muscular fitness indices at follow-up (F(4, 322) = 2.280, p = 0.04). In addition, the higher the number of ideal cardiovascular health metrics accumulated, the higher the likelihood of having a high muscular fitness over a two-year period (p for trend = 0.01), after adjustments for age, sex, pubertal stage and socioeconomic status and muscular fitness at baseline. CONCLUSION The ideal cardiovascular health status during adolescence was associated with high muscular fitness levels over a two-year period.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates an interaction between inflammation and depression since increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines are associated with depression-related symptoms. Melatonin is a hormone synthesized and secreted by the pineal gland with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antidepressant-like effects. In this way, it would be interesting to evaluate the putative antidepressant-like effect of melatonin treatment in an acute inflammation mice model of depression. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of melatonin treatment on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced depressive-like behavior, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress and alteration on brain-derived neurotrophic fator (BDNF) levels. Mice were treated with melatonin (10 mg/kg, i.p.) 30 min before LPS (0.5 mg/kg, i.p.) injection. Twenty-four hours after LPS infusion, mice were submitted to the behavioral tests and, thereafter, biochemical determinations were performed. Melatonin treatment prevented LPS-induced depressive-like behavior in the forced swim and tail suspension tests with no alterations in locomotor activity evaluated in the open field test. Melatonin attenuated LPS-induced increase in tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and reduction of BDNF levels in the hippocampus. Treatment with melatonin also prevented LPS-induced increase in lipid peroxidation and the reduction of glutathione levels in the hippocampus. In conclusion, the present study suggests that melatonin treatment exerted neuroprotective effects against LPS-induced depressive-like behavior which may be related to reduction of TNF-α release, oxidative stress and modulation of BDNF expression.

Abstract
Abstract:Computer-based Clinical Reporting Systems (CRS) for diagnostic departments that use structured data entry have a number of functional and structural affinities suggesting that a common software architecture for CRS may be defined. Such an architecture should allow easy expandability and reusability of a CRS. We report the development methodology and the architecture of SISCOPE, a CRS originally designed for gastrointestinal endoscopy that is expandable and reusable. Its main components are a patient database, a knowledge base, a reports base, and screen and reporting engines. The knowledge base contains the description of the controlled vocabulary and all the information necessary to control the menu system, and is easily accessed and modified with a conventional text editor. The structure of the controlled vocabulary is formally presented as an entity-relationship diagram. The screen engine drives a dynamic user interface and the reporting engine automatically creates a medical report; both engines operate by following a set of rules and the information contained in the knowledge base. Clinical experience has shown this architecture to be highly flexible and to allow frequent modifications of both the vocabulary and the menu system. This structure provided increased collaboration among development teams, insulating the domain expert from the details of the database, and enabling him to modify the system as necessary and to test the changes immediately. The system has also been reused in several different domains.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We developed a new minimally invasive method for intracranial pressure monitoring (ICPMI). The objective of this project is to verify the similarities between the ICPMI and the invasive method (ICPInv), for different components of the intracranial pressure signal-namely, the mean value (trend) as well as its pulsatile component. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 9 kg anesthetized pig was used for simultaneous ICP monitoring with both methods. ICP was increased by performing ten infusions of 6 ml 0.9% saline into the spinal subarachnoid space, using a catheter implanted in the lumbar region. For correlation analysis, the signals were decomposed into two components-trend and pulsatile signals. Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated between ICPInv and ICPMI. RESULTS During the infusions, the correlation between the pulsatile components of the signals was above 0.5 for most of the time. The signal trends showed a good agreement (correlation above 0.5) for most of the time during infusions. CONCLUSIONS The ICPMI signal trends showed a good linear agreement with the signal obtained invasively. Based on the waveform analysis of the pulsatile component of ICP, our results indicate the possibility of using the minimally invasive method for assessing the neuroclinical state of the patient.

Muscular fitness, adherence to the Southern European Atlantic Diet and cardiometabolic risk factors in adolescents. Nutr Metab Cardiovasc Dis 2017; 27:695-702. Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Muscular fitness and an adherence to the Southern European Atlantic Diet (SEADiet) have been inversely associated with cardiometabolic risk. Our aim was to assess the independent and combined associations of muscular fitness and adherence to the SEADiet on cardiometabolic risk in adolescents. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 467 Portuguese adolescents (275 girls) participated in this cross-sectional study. Sum of the Z-Scores of Curl-Up and Push-Up tests was used to create a muscular fitness score. Adherence to SEADiet was obtained using a food frequency questionnaire. A cardiometabolic risk score was computed from sum of Z-score of triglycerides, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol/HDL ratio, HOMA-IR and waist circumference. Adolescents with low muscular fitness and low adherence to the SEADiet had the poorest cardiovascular profile F(5, 452) = 5.074 (p < 0.001) and the highest odds of having a high cardiometabolic risk score (OR = 4.5; 95% CI: 2.1-14) when compared to those with High muscular fitness/High adherence to the SEADiet after adjustments for age, sex, pubertal stage, socioeconomic status, total energy intake, low-energy reporter and cardiorespiratory fitness. CONCLUSIONS Our findings seem suggest that improving muscular fitness as well as an adherence to the SEADiet could be an important strategy to reduce clustered cardiometabolic risk in youth.

Topological cell clustering in the ATLAS calorimeters and its performance in LHC Run 1. THE EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL. C, PARTICLES AND FIELDS 2017; 77:490. Abstract
The reconstruction of the signal from hadrons and jets emerging from the proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and entering the ATLAS calorimeters is based on a three-dimensional topological clustering of individual calorimeter cell signals. The cluster formation follows cell signal-significance patterns generated by electromagnetic and hadronic showers. In this, the clustering algorithm implicitly performs a topological noise suppression by removing cells with insignificant signals which are not in close proximity to cells with significant signals. The resulting topological cell clusters have shape and location information, which is exploited to apply a local energy calibration and corrections depending on the nature of the cluster. Topological cell clustering is established as a well-performing calorimeter signal definition for jet and missing transverse momentum reconstruction in ATLAS.

Reconstruction of primary vertices at the ATLAS experiment in Run 1 proton-proton collisions at the LHC. THE EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL. C, PARTICLES AND FIELDS 2017; 77:332. Abstract
This paper presents the method and performance of primary vertex reconstruction in proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment during Run 1 of the LHC. The studies presented focus on data taken during 2012 at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] TeV. The performance has been measured as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing over a wide range, from one to seventy. The measurement of the position and size of the luminous region and its use as a constraint to improve the primary vertex resolution are discussed. A longitudinal vertex position resolution of about [Formula: see text] is achieved for events with high multiplicity of reconstructed tracks. The transverse position resolution is better than [Formula: see text] and is dominated by the precision on the size of the luminous region. An analytical model is proposed to describe the primary vertex reconstruction efficiency as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing and of the longitudinal size of the luminous region. Agreement between the data and the predictions of this model is better than 3% up to seventy interactions per bunch crossing.

Glacial stages and post-glacial environmental evolution in the Upper Garonne valley, Central Pyrenees. THE SCIENCE OF THE TOTAL ENVIRONMENT 2017; 584-585:1282-1299. Abstract
The maximum glacial extent in the Central Pyrenees during the Last Glaciation is known to have occurred before the global Last Glacial Maximum, but the succession of cold events afterwards and their impact on the landscape are still relatively unknown. This study focuses on the environmental evolution in the upper valley of the Garonne River since the Last Glaciation. Geomorphological mapping allows analysis of the spatial distribution of inherited and current processes and landforms in the study area. The distribution of glacial records (moraines, till, erratic boulders, glacial thresholds) suggests the existence of four glacial stages, from the maximum expansion to the end of the glaciation. GIS modeling allows quantification of the Equilibrium Line Altitude, extent, thickness and volume of ice in each glacial stage. During the first stage, the Garonne glacier reached 460m in the Loures-Barousse-Barbazan basin, where it formed a piedmont glacier 88km from the head and extended over 960km2. At a second stage of glacier stabilization during the deglaciation process, the valley glaciers were 12-23km from the head until elevations of 1000-1850m, covering an area of 157km2. Glaciers during stage three remained isolated in the upper parts of the valley, at heights of 2050-2200m and 2.6-4.5km from the head, with a glacial surface of 16km2. In stage four, cirque glaciers were formed between 2260m and 2590m, with a length of 0.4-2km and a glacial area of 5.7km2. Also, the wide range of periglacial, slope, nival and alluvial landforms existing in the formerly glaciated environments allows reconstruction of the post-glacial environmental dynamics in the upper Garonne basin. Today, the highest lands are organized following three elevation belts: subnival (1500-1900m), nival (1900-2300m) and periglacial/cryonival (2300-2800m).

Abstract
The reconstruction and calibration algorithms used to calculate missing transverse momentum ([Formula: see text] ) with the ATLAS detector exploit energy deposits in the calorimeter and tracks reconstructed in the inner detector as well as the muon spectrometer. Various strategies are used to suppress effects arising from additional proton-proton interactions, called pileup, concurrent with the hard-scatter processes. Tracking information is used to distinguish contributions from the pileup interactions using their vertex separation along the beam axis. The performance of the [Formula: see text] reconstruction algorithms, especially with respect to the amount of pileup, is evaluated using data collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 [Formula: see text] during 2012, and results are shown for a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of [Formula: see text]. The simulation and modelling of [Formula: see text] in events containing a Z boson decaying to two charged leptons (electrons or muons) or a W boson decaying to a charged lepton and a neutrino are compared to data. The acceptance for different event topologies, with and without high transverse momentum neutrinos, is shown for a range of threshold criteria for [Formula: see text] , and estimates of the systematic uncertainties in the [Formula: see text] measurements are presented.
