Abstract
Blood specimens from 134 Oraon, a Dravidian-speaking tribe in Bihar, India, have been tested for haptoglobin, transferrin, ceruloplasmin, phosphoglucomutase, lactate dehydrogenase, albumin, and malate dehydrogenase types by starch gel electrophoresis. Low Hp1 and high TfD gene frequencies emerge.

Abstract
The amount of total lipids of the amniotic fluid of normal human subjects increases progressively with gestational age and is found to be maximum in labor at term. The lecithin/sphingomeylin ratio, which invariably increased with gestational age, is 2:1 or greater beyong 34 weeks of pregnancy and becomes maximum at term labor. No definite correlation exists between the palmitic acid content of total lipids and gestational age; but the palmitic acid content of the lecithin fraction increases with gestational age and this increase is markedly accelerated near the 34th week of pregnancy. Also it is observed that the arachidonic acid of cholesterol esters increases with gestational age. Therefore, it is suggested that both the palmitic acid level of lecithin and the arachidonic acid level of cholesterol esters might serve as more reliable indices that current methods being employed for the assessment of fetal lung maturity.

Abstract
Five caste groups (Hindu) and a Muslim population from southern West Bengal are studied for the seven blood group systems, i.e., A1A2BO, MNS, Rh, Kell, Duffy P and Lewis. Cate heterogeneity was found to be statistically insignificant. The two religion groups are also shown to be genetically similar to each other with respect to these blood group loci.

Abstract
Abstract
In a study of the relative merits of the Mousseau-Barbin and Celestin tubes used for palliation in 60 patients with dysphagia due to mechanical obstruction of the oesophagus by cancer or stricture, the Celestin tube emerged as a better palliative measure than the Mousseau-Barbin tube in so far as operative morbidity and mortality are concerned. In the assessment of the quality of life after intubation the Celestin tube again appears to be the better tube in the early postoperative period but in the later stages there appears to be no significant difference in the quality of life between the two tubes.
The quality of life as defined in this paper appears to have little relation to the duration of survival.

Abstract
Bound gamma globulin was demonstrated by the direct immunofluorescent technique in heart tissue from three patients with severe congestive cardiomyopathy. In two of these patients complement (β
1
C) was also bound to the heart muscle. Heart tissue from one of six patients who died of myocardial infarction showed a trace of bound gamma globulin, but no bound complement. During life, the heart in advanced cardiomyopathy may preferentially fix heart-reactive immunoglobulins to specific sarcolemmal and subsarcolemmal antigens, and antiheart antibody may not be detectable in the serum.

Abstract
The morphology of esophagus of Black Bengal goat was studied 6 Black Bengal goats of over six months of age of both sex in the Department of Anatomy and Histology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh-2202, Bangladesh using. The topography, shape, size, esophageal length including cervical and thoracic parts were measured. The esophagus was sampled at six sites - cranial cervical, middle cervical, caudal cervical, at the level of thoracic inlet, at the middle mediastinum and at the level of cardia. The esophagus was 45-50 cm long. The cervical part of esophagus was 13-15 cm long and the thoracic part was 32-30 cm long. The highest and lowest diameter was found 5.1 cm and 3.2 cm at the cardia and at the cranial cervical part of the esophagus respectively. Abstract
Lipids and fatty acids were extracted from the teeth of 16 animal species and were characterized by thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography. The types of lipids and fatty acids in the various teeth were similar, but the amounts were different. The major lipids were glycerides, cholesterol, cholesterol esters, and phospholipids; the major fatty acids were palmitic, stearic, and oleic acids. Trace amounts of many other lipids and fatty acids were present.

Abstract
Lipids and fatty acids were extracted from eight specimens of fossil teeth that were reliably estimated to be 100,000 to 230,000,000 years old. The kinds and relative amounts of individual fatty acids present in the extract were estimated by gas-liquid chromatography. These ancient teeth were found to be similar to modern animal teeth in lipid and fatty acid content. It is noteworthy that unsaturated fatty acids (ie, oleic and linoleic acids) survived storage in teeth for millions of years.
