Abstract
PURPOSE This scoping review aims to evaluate the evidence for stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) boost as a potential alternative for brachytherapy (BCT) in treating cervical cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases. Studies investigating SBRT boost in cervical cancer patients who were either contraindicated for or refused BCT were included. The review examined SBRT efficacy and safety. RESULTS Sixteen studies were included, encompassing prospective (n=4) and retrospective cohort studies (n=8), as well as phase I and II trials (n=4). The most common SBRT boost dose was 25 Gray(Gy)/5 fractions (ranging from 18 - 40Gy/3 to 5 fractions). Local control rates at 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year ranged from 86% to 100%, 78% to 92%, and 81% to 92%, respectively. Overall survival (OS) rates at 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year rates ranged from 49% to 95%, 50% to 77%, and 50% to 69%, respectively. Two studies reported a pathological complete response rate of 93% and 94% three months after the SBRT boost. Most studies reported low rates of late grade 3 or higher genitourinary (0-14%) and gastrointestinal (0-26%) toxicities. The overall incidence of rectovaginal fistulas ranged from 0-13%. CONCLUSION This scoping review suggests SBRT boost as a promising alternative to selected cervical cancer patients who cannot receive BCT. The results indicate a high local control with acceptable toxicity profiles. However, further research is needed to define optimal SBRT boost parameters, identify patient selection criteria, and address knowledge gaps regarding long-term outcomes and cost-effectiveness.

Abstract
Cervical cancer poses a significant health burden for women globally, and the rapid proliferation of cervical cancer cells greatly worsens patient prognosis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating tumor cell proliferation. However, the involvement of lncRNAs in cervical cancer cell proliferation remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the lncRNA SIX1-1, which was found to be upregulated in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines. Functional assays revealed that knockdown of SIX1-1 inhibited cell proliferation in vitro and reduced tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, SIX1-1 was predominantly localized in the nucleus and could bind with DNMT1 protein. The expression of SIX1-1 enhanced the interaction of DNMT1 with RASD1 promoter, leading to the methylation of the promoter and decreased mRNA transcription. Then RASD1 downregulation activated the cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling pathway, promoting cell proliferation. Rescue experiments showed that knockdown of RASD1 restored the inhibited cell proliferation caused by decreased expression of SIX1-1, indicating that RASD1 acted as the functional mediator of SIX1-1. In conclusion, SIX1-1 promoted cervical cancer cell proliferation by modulating RASD1 expression. This suggests that targeting the SIX1-1/RASD1 axis could be a potential antitumor strategy for cervical cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the more common sexually transmitted diseases in Germany. Vaccination against HPV was introduced in Germany in 2007. In this study, we sought to detect a population-based decline in the incidence of cervical cancer in women under age 30 who were eligible for vaccination in the first 11 years after its introduction. METHODS Data on new diagnoses of HPV-associated cervical cancer from 2004 to 2018 were obtained from the cancer registries of the German federal states (Bundesländer) through the German Center for Cancer Registry Data (ZfKD). Trends in the incidence of invasive and in situ cervical cancer were determined with log-linear joinpoint regression and age-period-cohort models. RESULTS The incidence of cervical cancer, which had been rising in the previous decades, has been falling since 2010, with a marked decline among women in all age groups eligible for vaccination (e.g., from 70.0 to 41.8 cases per 100 000 persons per year from 2010 to 2018 in women aged 24 to 26). Women born in 1992 were the first to become eligible for vaccination and have a 24% lower incidence than the reference cohort of women born in 1989 (relative risk 0.76, 95% confidence interval [0.68; 0.86]). Larger effects were found in later birth cohorts, in which vaccination was more widespread. CONCLUSION Eleven years after the introduction of HPV vaccination, a drop in the incidence of cervical cancer was observable at the population level in the birth cohorts eligible for vaccination.

Abstract
Cervical cancer, along with other sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) conditions, poses a significant burden in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Despite the availability of effective preventive methods such as vaccinations, particularly against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), awareness about such preventive methods and HPV vaccination remains alarmingly low in the KSA, even with governmental effort and support. While many women are aware of the risks, the uptake of the HPV vaccine remains below 10% (7.6%) at the country level. This highlights the urgent need for Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) at the community level to raise awareness, dispel misconceptions, and empower women to embrace vaccinations. Additionally, there is a need to revitalize the cancer registry system to better track and monitor cervical cancer cases. This short communication aims to map these barriers while identifying opportunities for impactful research. Drawing from the scientific literature, government reports, and expert insights, we highlight the challenges surrounding the tackling of HPV. By exploring diverse sources of knowledge, this paper not only highlights current obstacles but also proposes actionable solutions for future interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Global human activities were significantly impacted by the emergence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV infection in Central Fujian Province during the pandemic. METHODS Cervical samples were collected from 21,612 outpatients and 12,664 females who underwent physical examinations and HPV screening at the People's Hospital of Fujian Province in Fuzhou from April 2020 to April 2023. HPV detection and genotyping were conducted using PCR hybridization. RESULTS The overall HPV infection rate was 16.1% during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the outpatient group exhibiting a greater infection rate (19.0%) than did the healthy group (12.3%). The top five high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) genotypes in both groups were HPV52, HPV53, HPV58, HPV16, and HPV51. Additionally, HPV81 and HPV43 were the two most common low-risk HPV (LR-HPV) genotypes in the patient group, while HPV81 and HPV42 were the two most common LR-HPV genotypes in the healthy group. The highest prevalence of HPV infection was observed in individuals aged ≤ 24 years (28.4%, 95% CI 25.9-30.9), followed by those aged ≥ 55 years (23.6%, 95% CI 21.6-24.7) and other age groups. The prevalence decreased from 23.0% (95% CI 22.4-23.7) in 2018-2019 to 13.8% (95% CI 12.0-15.5) in 2023. CONCLUSION This study provides valuable insights into the prevalence and genotypes of HPV infection in the female population of Central Fujian Province from 2020 to 2023. The findings indicate that the prevalence of HPV infection in Central Fujian Province remains relatively low compared to the national average. Furthermore, the prevalence of HPV decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, as the pandemic waned, there was potential for an increase in HPV infection rates. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen HPV screening and vaccination strategies to prevent the potential spread of HPV.

Its ability to modulate various cellular pathways and interact with diverse molecular targets has positioned it as a promising candidate in the prevention and treatment of various diseases. This review provides a comprehensive examination of Genistein, covering its chemical properties, methods of isolation, synthesis, therapeutic attributes with regard to cancer management, and the proposed mechanisms of action as put forth by researchers.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been reported to be associated with N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification in cancers. However, the underlying mechanism by which m6A methylation participates in HPV-related cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) remains largely unclear. In this study, we observed that m6A regulators methyltransferase like protein (METTL14) and insulin like growth factor 2 mRNA binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3) were upregulated in HPV-positive CSCC tissues and cell lines, and their high expression predicted poor prognosis for HPV-infected CSCC patients. Cellular functional experiments verified that HPV16 oncogenes E6/E7 upregulated the expression of METTL14 and IGF2BP3 to promote cell proliferation and epithelial mesenchymal transition of CSCC cells. Next, we found that E6/E7 stabilized fascin actin-bundling protein 1 (FSCN1) mRNA and elevated FSCN1 expression in CSCC cells through upregulating METTL14/IGF2BP3-mediated m6A modification, and FSCN1 expression was also validated to be positively associated with worse outcomes of HPV-positive CSCC patients. Finally, HPV16-positive CSCC cell lines SiHa and CaSki were transfected with knockdown vector for E6/E7 or METTL14/IGF2BP3 and overexpressing vector for FSCN1, and functional verification experiments were performed through using MTT assay, flow cytometry, wound healing assay and tumour formation assay. Results indicated that knockdown of E6/E7 or METTL14/IGF2BP3 suppressed cell proliferation, migration and tumorigenesis, and accelerated cell apoptosis of HPV-positive CSCC cells. Their tumour-suppressive effects were abolished through overexpressing FSCN1. Overall, HPV E6/E7 advanced CSCC development through upregulating METTL14/IGF2BP3-mediated FSCN1 m6A modification.

Abstract
The introduction of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) testing in cervical cancer screening enhanced the opportunity to introduce self-collection as an innovative approach to improve coverage rates. Validation and standardization of the pre-analytical and analytical procedures are crucial for the quality assurance of HPV tests on self-collected samples. This study evaluated the analytical performance and the stability of self-collected vaginal samples resuspended in 5 mL of two non-alcohol-based media, eNat® and MSwab® compared to a professionally collected cervical sample, resuspended in 20 mL ThinPrep®, for the detection of high-risk HPV (hrHPV). The impact of the suspension volumes on analytical performance was also evaluated (2 and 5 ml). A good analytical concordance in hrHPV detection in cervical and vaginal self-collected swabs suspended in 5 ml of both non-alcohol-based media was demonstrated (eNat®: 91.2 %, k = 0.821; MSwab®: 91.4 %; k = 0.798). A similar analytical performance was found for samples resuspended in 2 mL (eNat®: 92.9 %, k = 0.811; MSwab®: 92.9 %, k = 0.811) compared to cervical samples. Good nucleic acid stability was demonstrated for vaginal samples stored at 20-25 °C and 37 °C for up to 4 weeks. Results of this preliminary study support the introduction of these media for vaginal self-sampling-based prevention programs. Nevertheless, further research is necessary to evaluate clinical accuracy in larger settings.

Abstract
Health literacy (HL) plays a vital role in an individual's ability to make informed health decisions. Japan faces several challenges in cervical cancer control, including low human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and screening rates, underutilization of radiotherapy, and limited HL. This study explored the association between HL and knowledge of cervical cancer and radiotherapy, particularly among young Japanese women. We conducted a web-based survey among users of LunaLuna, a popular women's healthcare application, to assess their HL and knowledge about cervical cancer and radiotherapy through a 46-question survey. We compared three groups in terms of HL (inadequate, problematic, and sufficient & excellent). Multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with knowledge. In total, 1468 respondents were included in this study. HL was positively correlated with knowledge scores (inadequate: 51.8%; problematic: 56.3%; sufficient & excellent: 60%). Participants displayed relatively low accuracy for treatment-related questions. Higher HL (β = 0.15, p < 0.01), education (β = - 0.11, p < 0.01), cervical cancer screening (β = - 0.11, p < 0.01), income (β = 0.09, p < 0.01), and employment (β = - 0.06, p = 0.04) were significant factors affecting knowledge of cervical cancer and radiotherapy. Our findings underscore the pivotal role of HL in promoting cervical cancer prevention and providing a better understanding of radiotherapy. Despite factors such as age, education, and history of cervical cancer screening, HL showed the strongest association with knowledge of cervical cancer and radiotherapy. The enhancement of HL and knowledge dissemination may be critical for promoting cervical cancer prevention and radiotherapy in Japan.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Clinical trials are being conducted and are being planned to assess the safety and efficacy of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests for use in cancer screening. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of primary care patient outreach in recruiting participants to a planned MCED clinical trial, assess patient interest in trial participation, and measure decisional conflict related to participation. METHODS The research team used the electronic medical record of a large, urban health care system to identify primary care patients 50-80 years of age who were potentially eligible for a planned MCED trial. We mailed information about the planned MCED trial to identified patients and then contacted the patients by telephone to obtain consent and administer a baseline survey. Subsequently, we contacted consented patients to complete an interview to review the mailed information and elicit perceptions about trial participation. Finally, a research coordinator administered an endpoint telephone survey to assess patient interest in and decisional conflict related to joining the trial. RESULTS We randomly identified 1000 eligible patients and were able to make contact with 690 (69%) by telephone. Of the patients contacted, 217 (31%) completed the decision counseling session and 219 (32%) completed the endpoint survey. Among endpoint survey respondents, 177 (81%) expressed interest in joining the MCED trial and 162 (74%) reported low decisional conflict. CONCLUSIONS Most patients were contacted and about a quarter of those contacted expressed interest in and low decisional conflict about joining the planned MCED trial. Research is needed to determine how to optimize patient outreach and engage patients in shared decision-making about MCED trial participation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cognitive behavioral stress management (CBSM) modifies individuals' maladaptive cognition and improves their ability in managing stress. The present study was to inquire about the utility of CBSM in mental health and quality of life in patients with cervical cancer. METHODS Totally, 172 postoperative cervical cancer patients were randomly classified into CBSM (N=86) and normal care group (N=86) to receive 8-week CBSM and normal care, correspondingly. Self-rating anxiety/depression scale (SAS/SDS), EuroQol-5 dimensions (EQ-5D), EuroQol-visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS), and quality of life questionnaire-core 30 (QLQ-C30) scores were evaluated at discharge (M0), 1st month (M1), M3, and M6 after discharge. RESULTS SAS scores at M6 (P=0.003), M1 (P=0.042), and M3 (P=0.010), and the proportion of patients with SAS-defined anxiety at M3 (P=0.040) and M6 (P=0.019) were reduced in CBSM group versus normal care group. SDS scores at M3 (P=0.020) and M6 (P=0.016), and the proportion of patients with SDS-defined depression at M6 (P=0.036) was descended in CBSM group versus normal care group. EQ-VAS score at M1 (P=0.044), M3 (P=0.014), and M6 (P=0.002) were increased, while EQ-5D score at M3 (P=0.030) was descended in CBSM group versus normal care group. Meanwhile, QLQ-C30 global health status score at M1 (P=0.046), M3 (P=0.037), and M6 (P=0.007), QLQ-C30 function score at M3 (P=0.033) and M6 (P=0.016) were ascended, but QLQ-C30 symptom score at M3 (P=0.042) was declined in CBSM group versus normal care group. CONCLUSION CBSM is an effective intervention for decreasing anxiety and depression, and improving quality of life in patients with cervical cancer.

Abstract
In the present study, the diagnostic value of high risk-human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) combined with colposcopy for the detection of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions was evaluated. A total of 397 patients with confirmed cervical disease were enrolled between August 2020 and December 2021. According to the pathological diagnosis, the patients were divided into cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade I (CIN I; n=153 cases), CIN II (n=101 cases), CIN III (n=86 cases) and cervical cancer (n=57 cases) groups. The HR-HPV-positive rate of the patients with different lesion types was compared, and the consistency of colposcopy and pathological examination results were assessed. For cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, the diagnostic value and efficacy of HR-HPV testing, colposcopy and combined HR-HPV testing and colposcopy examination were compared using pathological examination results as the gold standard. The results of the present study demonstrated that in patients with cervical cancer, the positive rate of HR-HPV (100.00%; n=57/57) was higher than that in patients with precancerous lesions, and the positive rate of HR-HPV in patients with CIN I type (36.60%, n=56/153) was lower than that in patients with CIN II (83.17%, n=84/101) and CIN III (82.56%, n=71/86) types (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the HR-HPV-positive rate between patients with CIN II and CIN III (P>0.05). Cohen's κ coefficient for colposcopy examination and pathological examination of patients with cervical cancer and precancerous lesions was 0.622, the diagnostic accuracy was 90.43% (n=359/397), the positive predictive value was 65.57% (n=40/61), and the negative predictive value was 94.94% (n=319/336). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis demonstrated that the area under the curve of the combined examination in the diagnosis of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions was 0.904, which was higher than that of colposcopy (0.820) or HR-HPV testing (0.802) alone (P<0.05). The results of the present study indicated that HR-HPV detection combined with colposcopy has diagnostic value for cervical cancer and precancerous lesions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer represents a significant health concern globally and is the fourth most common cancer among women, leading to substantial morbidity and mortality. The primary cause is persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types. Despite advancements in prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment, disparities in cervical cancer outcomes persist due to variations in screening accessibility and socioeconomic factors. This study focuses on women in the Kyrgyz Republic, highlighting regional disparities and the critical role of early detection. METHODS A retrospective data analysis was conducted on 1,338 women diagnosed with cervical cancer from 2012 to 2017 in the Kyrgyz Republic. Data were sourced from national health centers, focusing on sociodemographic metrics, clinical staging, and regional distributions. The study utilized statistical analysis to evaluate prevalence and mortality rates, employing the analysis of variance for comparison, significance, and analyzing trends over time. RESULTS The prevalence of cervical cancer in the Kyrgyz Republic increased from 97.5 per 100,000 females in 2012 to 105.3 per 100,000 in 2017, with mortality rates of 8.3-9.7%. Notably, regional disparities were evident, with Chui, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Bishkek experiencing increased prevalence rates, while Talas, Issyk-Kul, Naryn, and Batken reported decreased prevalence. Screening programs, particularly the introduction of Pap smears, have been effective in reducing both prevalence and mortality rates in areas with broad population coverage. However, the study highlighted significant variations in outcomes across different regions, underscoring the importance of targeted prevention and screening efforts. CONCLUSIONS The study confirms the ongoing challenge of cervical cancer in the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasizing the need for improved screening and prevention strategies to address disparities in outcomes. The introduction of pilot screening programs represents a crucial step forward. However, the findings also point to the necessity for enhanced oncological literacy among primary care physicians and the implementation of comprehensive strategies to overcome socioeconomic and regional barriers to effective cervical cancer prevention and treatment. The reduction in prevalence observed in 2016 suggests progress, highlighting the potential impact of focused prevention and screening initiatives.

Abstract
Cervical cancer (CC) remains one of the most severe global health challenges affecting women, primarily due to persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) subtypes, particularly with HPV16 and HPV 18. Effective detection of these high-risk HPV strains is crucial for CC prevention. Current screening programs for HPV DNA include PCR and in situ hybridization, which are accurate and sensitive. However, these approaches demand a high level of expertise, along with expensive instruments and consumables, thus hindering their widespread use. Therefore, there is a compelling demand to develop an efficient, straightforward, and cost-effective method. Herein, we propose a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) method based on Au@PdPt nanoparticles for the simultaneous detection and genotyping of HPV16 and HPV18 within 15 min. This innovative approach allows for qualitative assessment by the naked eye and enables semi-quantitative detection through a smartphone. In this study, under optimal conditions, the qualitative visual limits of detection (vLOD) for HPV16 and HPV18 reached 0.007 nM and 0.01 nM, respectively, which were 32-fold and 20-fold more sensitive than conventional AuNPs-LFIA for HPV16 and HPV18, respectively. Meanwhile, semi-quantitative limits of detection (qLOD) for HPV16 and HPV18 were 0.05 nM and 0.02 nM, respectively. In conclusion, our formulated approach represents a significant step forward in HPV detection and genotyping, with the potential to enhance accessibility and effectiveness in the early diagnosis of CC at the point of care and beyond.

Abstract
The pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains unclear and is associated with an increased risk of developing colitis-associated cancer (CAC). Under sustained inflammatory stimulation in the intestines, loss of early DNA damage response genes can lead to tumor formation. Many proteins are involved in the pathways of DNA damage response and play critical roles in protecting genes from various potential damages that DNA may undergo. ERCC4 is a structure-specific endonuclease that participates in the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway. The catalytic site of ERCC4 determines the activity of NER and is an indispensable gene in the NER pathway. ERCC4 may be involved in the imbalanced process of DNA damage and repair in IBD-related inflammation and CAC. This article primarily reviews the function of ERCC4 in the DNA repair pathway and discusses its potential role in the processes of IBD-related inflammation and carcinogenesis. Finally, we explore how this knowledge may open novel avenues for the treatment of IBD and IBD-related cancer.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, has few approved targeted therapeutics, and is the most common cause of cancer death in low-resource countries. We characterized 19 cervical and four head and neck cancer cell lines using long-read DNA and RNA sequencing and identified the HPV types, HPV integration sites, chromosomal alterations, and cancer driver mutations. Structural variation analysis revealed telomeric deletions associated with DNA inversions resulting from breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) cycles. BFB is a common mechanism of chromosomal alterations in cancer, and our study applies long-read sequencing to this important chromosomal rearrangement type. Analysis of the inversion sites revealed staggered ends consistent with exonuclease digestion of the DNA after breakage. Some BFB events are complex, involving inter- or intra-chromosomal insertions or rearrangements. None of the BFB breakpoints had telomere sequences added to resolve the dicentric chromosomes, and only one BFB breakpoint showed chromothripsis. Five cell lines have a chromosomal region 11q BFB event, with YAP1-BIRC3-BIRC2 amplification. Indeed, YAP1 amplification is associated with a 10-year-earlier age of diagnosis of cervical cancer and is three times more common in African American women. This suggests that individuals with cervical cancer and YAP1-BIRC3-BIRC2 amplification, especially those of African ancestry, might benefit from targeted therapy. In summary, we uncovered valuable insights into the mechanisms and consequences of BFB cycles in cervical cancer using long-read sequencing.

Abstract
Major screening abnormalities in precolposcopic stage are tests results that imply direct referral to colposcopy (and/or expedited treatment) without performing additional high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions or worse (HSIL+) risk selection testing. Currently, both clinically validated HSIL+ risk selection tests, reflex cytology and reflex p16/Ki67 dual staining (DS), are being compared for use in primary human papillomavirus (HPV)-based screening to avoid possible overtreatment, but there is still no sufficient data available for their performance. Among 30 066 liquid-based cervical cancer screening tests results, a group of 332 women was selected with available high-risk types of HPV tests results with 16/18 limited genotyping, liquid-based cytology, DS, and histology results from standardized colposcopy with biopsy. In HPV 16/18+ cases, three triage approaches were retrospectively analyzed. Predictive values for detection of HSIL+ were calculated and number of colposcopies required in each strategy. Both triage models with DS used (reflex cytology followed by DS, and reflex DS alone in all cases) had significantly higher positive predictive value for HSIL+ than strategy with reflex cytology alone (44.2%/45.7% vs. 28.3%; p < 0.0001). In models with DS, less colposcopies were required (95/92 vs. 152) and less colposcopies were needed per HSIL+ detection (2.26/2.19 vs. 3.54). Only one HSIL+ case was missed in both triage models with DS incorporation. p16/Ki67 dual-stain may be an effective, alone or combined with cytology, triage test to detect HSIL+ in patients with major screening abnormalities in primary HPV-based cervical cancer screening. Performing cytology as the first triage test improves the strategy by enabling referrals to expedited treatment in selected cases.

Abstract
Background There is a huge disparity in cancer incidence and mortality around the globe. A considerable share of this disparity can be explained by human development. Particularly in many less developed countries, women have been hindered in their human development. In this ecological study, we hypothesize that, notwithstanding acceptable overall development in countries, gender inequalities might affect the incidence and mortality of women's malignancies, and there is a distinct association between them. Method The data on the incidence and mortality of gynecologic and female breast cancers were retrieved from the GLOBOCAN database, and the data on the Human Development Index (HDI), Gender Development Index (GDI), and Gender Inequality Index (GII) were obtained from the United Nations Human Development Report. The Poisson regression modeling was then used to fit four models for each cancer. Result GII and GDI are both significantly associated with incidences of women's cancers, except for the insignificant association between GDI and the incidence of ovarian cancer. However, the association between GDI and the mortality of women's cancer is not strong. At the same time, there are significant direct relationships between GII and the mortality of breast, cervical, and endometrial cancer. Conclusion The incidence and mortality of women's cancers are ecologically associated with the country-level gender inequality captured with GDI and GII.

Abstract
Cervical cancer (CC) is considered to be the most prevalent female malignancies across the globe and a prime cause of mortality among women. RNA-binding motif protein 15 (RBM15) has been elucidated to participate in tumorigenesis in various cancers by regulating RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation. However, its significance and detailed molecular mechanisms remain uncertain in CC. Using CGA database and qRT-PCR, the RBM15 expression was found to be elevated in CC tissues. After performing EdU, wound healing, Transwell migration, and xenograft tumor assays, RBM15 knockdown inhibited the malignant properties of CC cells along with the tumor development of CC cells in vivo. Moreover, qRT-PCR, MeRIP, and western blotting experiments were also confirmed that decorin (DCN) downregulated in CC was a direct substrate of RBM15 m6A methylation, and RBM15 knockdown could enhance DCN expression in CC cells. The anti-tumor effects of RBM15 knockdown could be abolished by DCN silencing. Overall, RBM15 knockdown lowered the tumorigenesis of CC both in vitro and in vivo, and it does so via mediating m6A modification of DCN mRNA in CC cells.

Abstract
The detection of high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs) is crucial for early screening and preventing cervical cancer. However, the substantial workload in high-level hospitals or the limited resources in primary-level hospitals hinder widespread testing. To address this issue, we explored a sample-to-answer genotyping system and assessed its performance by comparing it with the traditional real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method conducted manually. Samples randomly selected from those undergoing routine real-time PCR detection were re-analyzed using the fully automatic GenPlex® system. This system identifies 24 types of HPV through a combination of ordinary PCR and microarray-based reverse hybridization. Inconsistent results were confirmed by repeated testing with both methods, and the κ concordance test was employed to evaluate differences between the two methods. A total of 365 samples were randomly selected from 7259 women. According to real-time PCR results, 76 were high-risk HPV negative, and 289 were positive. The GenPlex® system achieved a κ value greater than 0.9 (ranging from 0.920 to 1.000, p < 0.0001) for 14 types of high-risk HPV, except HPV 51 (κ = 0.697, p < 0.0001). However, the inconsistent results in high-risk HPV 51 were revealed to be false positive in real-time PCR by other method. When counting by samples without discriminating the high-risk HPV type, the results of both methods were entirely consistent (κ = 1.000, p < 0.0001). Notably, the GenPlex® system identified more positive cases, with 73 having an HPV type not covered by real-time PCR, and 20 potentially due to low DNA concentration undetectable by the latter. Compared with the routinely used real-time PCR assay, the GenPlex® system demonstrated high consistency. Importantly, the system's advantages in automatic operation and a sealed lab-on-chip format respectively reduce manual work and prevent aerosol pollution. For widespread use of GenPlex® system, formal clinical validation following international criteria should be warranted.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the performance of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics models in differentiating early stage of cervical cancer (Stage I-IIa vs. IIb-IV). Methods One hundred patients with cervical cancer who underwent preoperative MRI between June 2020 and March 2022 were retrospectively enrolled. Training (n = 70) and testing cohorts (n = 30) were assigned by stratified random sampling. The clinical and pathological features, including age, histological subtypes, tumor grades, and node status, were compared between the two cohorts by t-test or chi-square test. Radiomics features were extracted from each volume of interest (VOI) on T2-weighted images (T2WI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps. The data balance of the training cohort was resampled by synthesizing minority oversampling techniques. Subsequently, the adiomics signatures were constructed by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm and minimum-redundancy maximum-relevance with 10-fold cross-validation. Logistic regression was applied to predict the cervical cancer stages (low [I-IIa]) and (high [IIb-IV] FIGO stages). The receiver operating characteristic curve (area under the curve [AUC]) and decision curve analysis were used to assess the performance of the radiomics model. Results The characteristics of age, histological subtypes, tumor grades, and node status were not significantly different between the low [I-IIa] and high [IIb-IV] FIGO stages (p > 0.05 for both the training and test cohorts). Three models based on T2WI, ADC maps, and the combined were developed based on six radiomics features from T2WI and three radiomics features from ADC maps, with AUCs of 0.855 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.777-0.934) and 0.823 (95% CI, 0.727-0.919), 0.861 (95% CI, 0.785-0.936) and 0.81 (95% CI, 0.701-0.918), 0.934 (95% CI, 0.884-0.984) and 0.902 (95% CI, 0.832-0.972) in the training and test cohorts. Conclusion The radiomics models combined T2W and ADC maps had good predictive performance in differentiating the early stage from locally advanced cervical cancer.

Abstract
AIM To determine the associations of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) parameters with expression of programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) and programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1), and evaluate the performance of the combined model established based on IVIM and clinicopathological parameters in predicting PD-L1and PD-1 status of cervical cancer (CC) patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-eight consecutive CC patients were enrolled prospectively and underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including IVIM. IVIM quantitative parameters were measured, compared, and correlated with PD-L1 and PD-1 expression. Independent factors related to PD-L1 and PD-1 positivity were identified and were used to establish the combined model. The combined model's diagnostic performance was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. The Shapley additive explanation (SHAP) algorithm was used to explain the contribution of each parameter in the combined model. RESULTS The real diffusion coefficient (D) value was significantly lower in the PD-L1-positive group than in the PD-L1-negative group (0.64 ± 0.12 versus 0.72 ± 0.11, p=0.021). The PD-1-positive and PD-1-negative groups showed similar trends (0.63 ± 0.13 versus 0.73 ± 0.09, p=0.003). Parametrial invasion, lymph node status, pathological grade, FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) staging, and D values were independently associated with PD-L1 and PD-1expression. A combined model incorporating these parameters showed good discrimination with the sensitivity, specificity of 90.9%, 82.6% for PD-L1, and 93.5%, 72% for PD-1. According to the SHAP value, FIGO staging and pathological grade were the most influential features of the prediction model. CONCLUSION IVIM parameters were found to correlate with PD-L1 and PD-1 expression. The combined model, incorporating parametrial invasion, lymph node status, pathological grade, FIGO staging, and D values, showed good discrimination in predicting PD-L1 and PD-1 status, providing the basis for CC immunotherapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the value of amide proton transfer weighted (APTw) combined with diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) in quantitative prediction of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in cervical carcinoma (CC). METHODS Data of 19 LNM(+) and 50 LNM(-) patients with CC were retrospectively analyzed. 3.0 T MRI scan was performed before the operation, including APTw and DKI. After post-processing, quantitative magnetization transfer ratio asymmetric at 3.5 ppm [MTRasym (3.5 ppm)], mean kurtosis (MK), and mean diffusivity (MD) maps were obtained. The MTRasym(3.5 ppm), MK, and MD values were respectively measured by two observers, and intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) were used to test the consistency of the results. The independent samples t-test or Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the differences in the values of each parameter. The ROC curve was used to analyze the predictive performance of parameters with significant differences and their combination parameter. RESULTS The two observers had good agreement in the measurement of each data (ICC > 0.75). The MTRasym(3.5 ppm) and MK values of the LNM(+) group(3.260 ± 0.538% and 0.531 ± 0.202) were higher than those of the LNM(-) group(2.698 ± 0.597% and 0.401 ± 0.148) (P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in MD values between the two groups(P > 0.05). The area under the curves (AUCs) of MTRasym(3.5 ppm), MK value, and MTRasym(3.5 ppm) + MK value were 0.763, 0.716, and 0.813, respectively, when predicting LNM status of CC. CONCLUSION APTw and DKI can quantitatively predict LNM status of CC, which is of importance in clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to explore trends in cervical cancer (CC) incidence and mortality rates according to race/skin color in Brazil focusing on the seriousness of the racial disparity. METHODS Data from Brazilian Population-Based Cancer Registries (PBCRs) were analyzed for trends in incidence between 2010 and 2015. For mortality, data from the National Mortality Information System were retrieved between 2000 and 2020. A self-declaration on race/skin color was collected following the classification proposed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - white, black, brown/mixed race, yellow, or indigenous. For the analysis, black and brown/mixed race were grouped as black. RESULTS Between 2010 and 2015, 10,844 new cases of CC were registered in the participating PBCRs, distributed among white women (49.6%), black (48.0%), and other race/skin color (2.3%). Compared with white counterparts, black women had a 44% higher risk of incident CC. As for mortality, between 2000 and 2020, 108,590 deaths from CC occurred nationwide. The mean age-adjusted mortality rates according to race/skin color were 3.7/100,000 for white, 4.2/100,000 for black, 2.8 for yellow, and 6.7 for indigenous women. Taking the mortality rates in white women as a reference, there was a 27% increase in death risk in black women (RR = 1.27) and 82% in indigenous women (RR = 1.82). CONCLUSION These findings suggest that the higher rates of incidence and mortality from CC in vulnerable populations of black and more impactfully indigenous women in Brazil remain alarming. More efficient HPV vaccination strategies synchronized with well-conducted Pap smear-based screening should be prioritized in these more vulnerable populations.

Abstract
Background/Aims: Radiation proctitis (RP), a well-known complication of pelvic radiation therapy, may lead to recurrent hospitalizations. We aimed to assess readmissions of RP in the United States. Methods: We analyzed the Nationwide Readmission Database from 2016 to 2020 to identify all 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions of RP in the United States. Hospitalization characteristics, predictors, clinical outcomes, and healthcare burdens were assessed. Results: From 2016 to 2020, we noted a declining trend of 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions of RP in the US. However, the all-cause 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmission rates of RP were still high at 13.7%, 19.4%, and 23.16%, respectively. On readmission, RP was identified as the admitting diagnosis in only 20.61%, 17.87%, and 15.76% of 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions, respectively. The mean age for all readmissions was 70 years with a significant male dominance. Lower endoscopy at index admission reduced the risk of readmissions within 90 days, but this was not statistically significant. However, the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) score was an independent predictor of all readmissions. Furthermore, the mean length of stay was 5.57 (95% CI 5.15-6), 5.50 (95% CI 5.12-5.89), and 5.47 (95% CI 5.07-5.87) days and the mean hospitalization charge was USD 60,451 (95% CI USD 54,728-66,174), USD 62,671 (95% CI USD 57,326-68,015), and USD 62,144 (95% CI USD 57,144-67,144) for 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions. The all-cause inpatient mortality for 30-, 60-, and 90-day readmissions was 3.58%, 3.89%, and 3.46%, respectively. Conclusions: RP readmissions are a significant healthcare burden. Further efforts must be directed toward improving management strategies to reduce readmission rates.

Abstract
Background Cancer screening utilization can aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. However, the current scenario of the knowledge and practice regarding cancer screening remains unclear as the authors do not have sufficient studies. Hence, the authors conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the situation of cancer screening utilization and knowledge. Methods A systematic literature review was conducted to identify all studies on knowledge and practice regarding cancer screening in the Nepalese population. Data extraction and analysis were done with SPSS and CMA-3. Results The authors identified a total of 5238 studies after database searching, and 19 studies were included in a narrative synthesis. Lack of awareness and knowledge was the major barrier in cervical, breast, and testicular cancer screening. In cervical cancer screening, the most common reason for screening was the advice of health personnel in 85% of respondents, and the barrier was lack of awareness in 49.33% of participants. Conclusion The knowledge and practice of cancer screening is lacking in Nepal, as shown by our review. More educational and awareness programs, easy access to screening services, and elimination of sociocultural barriers are necessary to increase the utilization of screening services.

Abstract
Background Cervical cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality globally. In developed countries, effective screening programs reduced its burden. However, in Ethiopia, cervical cancer remains a major public health problem despite the screening service being available free of charge. Objective The aim of this study was to assess women's willingness for cervical cancer screening services and associated factors among women attending health services in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Design An institutional-based, analytic, cross-sectional study was conducted among sexually active women attending health facilities from August to September 2022. Methods A pretested interviewer-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Logistic regression was used to determine different variables' frequencies and associated factors. A p value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Result Four hundred twenty-two women were approached, and 394 (93.4%) met the study inclusion criteria. Study participants had a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 6 sexual partners in their lives. A total of 256 (64.9%) study participants had heard about cervical cancer. Among those who heard about cervical cancer, only 22 (8.6%) had been tested for cervical cancer. Of those who did not receive cervical cancer screening, only 175 (47.0%) are willing to receive cervical cancer screening. Age, religion, marital status, place of residence, educational level, occupation, and hearing about cervical cancer were found to be statistically significant. Women who heard about cervical cancer were 15.2 times more likely to take the test compared to those who never heard about cervical cancer before the study. Conclusion Women's willingness to be screened for cervical cancer is low despite many of the study participants having more than one partner in their lives and being at risk for cervical cancer. Only a few participants had been screened for cervical cancer. Women who had heard about cervical cancer were more likely to take the screening service compared to those who had never heard it before. This highlights the need to prioritize raising awareness about the benefits of cervical cancer screening services.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION With the advancements in cancer prevention and diagnosis, the proportion of newly diagnosed early-stage cervical cancers has increased. Adjuvant therapies based on high-risk postoperative histopathological factors significantly increase the morbidity of treatment complications and seriously affect patients' quality of life. OBJECTIVES Our study aimed to establish a diagnostic nomogram for vaginal invasion (VI) among early-stage cervical cancer (CC) that can be used to reduce the occurrence of positive or close vaginal surgical margins. METHODS We assembled the medical data of early-stage CC patients between January 2013 and December 2021 from the Fujian Cancer Hospital. Data on demographics, laboratory tests, MRI features, physical examination (PE), and pathological outcomes were collected. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to estimate the diagnostic variables for VI in the training set. Finally, the statistically significant factors were used to construct an integrated nomogram. RESULTS In this retrospective study, 540 CC patients were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts according to a 7:3 ratio. Multivariate logistic analyses showed that age [odds ratio (OR) = 2.41, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.29-4.50, P = 0.006], prognostic nutritional index (OR = 0.18, 95% CI, 0.04-0.77, P = 0.021), histological type (OR = 0.28, 95% CI, 0.08-0.94, P = 0.039), and VI based on PE (OR = 3.12, 95% CI, 1.52-6.45, P = 0.002) were independent diagnostic factors of VI. The diagnostic nomogram had a robust ability to predict VI in the training [area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.70-0.82] and validation (AUC = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.58-0.83) cohorts, and the calibration curves, decision curve analysis, and confusion matrix showed good prediction power. CONCLUSION Our diagnostic nomograms could help gynaecologists quantify individual preoperative VI risk, thereby optimizing treatment options, and minimizing the incidence of multimodality treatment-related complications and the economic burden.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION High-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) screening is vital for early cervical cancer detection and treatment. With the introduction of the national cervical cancer screening programme and screening registry in Malaysia, there is a need to monitor population-based HPV screening uptake and high-risk HPV prevalence as part of cervical cancer surveillance. OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence and sociodemographic factors predicting high-risk HPV infection in Malaysia based on a public, community-based cervical cancer screening registry targeting women at risk of getting HPV infection. METHODS The study used data from the Malaysian cervical cancer screening registry established by the Family Health Development Division from 2019 to 2021. The registry recorded sociodemographic data, HPV test details and results of eligible women who underwent HPV screening at public primary healthcare facilities. A vaginal sample (via self-sampling or assisted by a healthcare provider) was used for DNA extraction for HPV detection and genotyping. Registry data were extracted and analysed to determine prevalence estimates of high-risk HPV infection. Multifactorial logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine predictors of high-risk HPV infection. All analyses were performed using Stata version 14. RESULTS The programme screened a total of 36,738 women during the study period. Women who attended the screening programme were mainly from urban areas, aged 30-39 years, and of Malay ethnicity. The prevalence of high-risk HPV infection was 4.53% among women screened, with the yearly prevalence ranging from 4.27 to 4.80%. A higher prevalence was observed among urban settling women, those aged 30-49 years, those of Indian ethnicity, and those without children. The results from logistic regression showed that women from urban areas, lower age groups, of Indian or Chinese ethnicity, and who are self-employed were more likely to be infected with high-risk HPV. CONCLUSION Targeted and robust strategies to reach identified high-risk groups are needed in Malaysia. In addition, the registry has the potential to be expanded for an improved cervical cancer elimination plan. TRIAL REGISTRATION Trial registration number: NMRR ID-22-00187-DJU.

Abstract
The aberrant expression of Stratifin (SFN) is intricately associated with the initiation and progression of numerous tumors. This study aims to investigate whether SFN regulates the metastasis of cervical cancer cells through the LIMK2/Cofilin signaling pathway. In this study, we compared the expression of SFN in normal cervical tissues and cervical carcinoma tissues. We established SFN overexpression and SFN silencing cellular models to assess the invasive and migratory capabilities of cervical cancer cells using transwell and scratch assays. YO-PRO-1/PI and EdU staining were employed to evaluate apoptotic and proliferative capacities, while Actin-Tracker Green-488 was utilized to investigate cytoskeletal remodeling. The expression levels of SFN, LIMK2, p-LIMK2, Cofilin, and p-Cofilin were examined through Western blotting and immunofluorescence. Our findings revealed elevated expression of SFN in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues. SFN overexpression was observed to enhance invasion and migration of cervical cancer cells, induce cytoskeletal remodeling, facilitate cell proliferation, and suppress apoptosis. Furthermore, SFN overexpression upregulated the expression levels of LIMK2, p-LIMK2, Cofilin, and p-Cofilin. Conversely, silencing SFN exerted opposite effects. SFN plays an important role in the diagnosis of cervical cancer. SFN can regulate cervical cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, cytoskeletal remodeling and metastasis through LIMK2/Cofilin signaling.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In the context of primary HPV cervical cancer screening, the identification of minor screening abnormalities necessitates triage tests to optimize management and mitigate overtreatment. Currently, reflex cytology and reflex p16/Ki67 dual-stain (DS) are under scrutiny for their applicability in primary HPV-based screening. However, there remains a dearth of comprehensive data for comparing their performance. METHODS Among 30,066 results from liquid-based cervical cancer screening tests, a cohort of 332 cases was meticulously selected based on available high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) test results, limited genotyping for HPV 16 and 18, liquid-based cytology, DS, and histology outcomes from standardized colposcopy with biopsy. For cases positive for 12 other high-risk HPV genotypes, three retrospective triage approaches were analyzed. We computed the positive predictive value (PPV) for the detection of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions or worse (HSIL+). RESULTS Both triage models employing DS (reflex cytology followed by DS and reflex DS alone in all cases) exhibited significantly higher PPV for HSIL+ compared to the strategy with reflex cytology alone (35.9%/33.3% vs. 18.8%; p < 0.0001). Additionally, these DS-based models showed higher negative predictive values (NPV) (100%/96.2% vs. 69.2%; p = 0.0024/0.0079). In the DS-inclusive models, fewer colposcopies were necessitated (103/102 vs. 154), and fewer cases of HSIL+ were overlooked (0/3 vs. 8). CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that p16/Ki67 dual-stain, either as a standalone or combined triage test, holds promise for the effective detection of HSIL+ in patients with minor screening abnormalities in primary HPV-based cervical cancer screening.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the triaging efficacy of the human papillomavirus (HPV) 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN2+) screening in HPV 16/18-positive patients in a tertiary hospital in China. Methods: We collected 476 cervical cell samples from women who tested positive for HPV 16/18 in the gynecological clinic of Peking Union Medical College Hospital between September 2018 and September 2022 and analyzed them by the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay before colposcopy and biopsy. The study assessed the triaging efficacy of the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay in HPV 16/18-positive patients by analyzing its performance against the gold standard of histologically confirmed CIN2+. Results: The positive rate of the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay was 41.0% (114/278) in the negative for intraepithelial lesions and malignancy/CIN1 group and 80.3% (159/198) in the CIN2+ group. For triage of women with a positive HPV 16/18 test for CIN2+ detection, the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay had a sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of 80.3%, 59.4%, 58.5%, and 80.9%, respectively. Furthermore, longitudinal follow-up of five patients showed a good correlation between the expression of the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein and cervical lesion grades. Conclusions: As a triage method for HPV 16/18-positive patients, the HPV 16/18 E7 oncoprotein assay improves the specificity, reduces the colposcopy referral rate, and has the potential for long-term monitoring of high-grade CIN.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Optimal adjuvant chemotherapy for nonsquamous cervical carcinoma has not yet been established. This study investigated the efficacy and safety of docetaxel/carboplatin (DC) for early-stage nonsquamous cell cervical carcinoma after radical hysterectomy (RH). METHODS We evaluated 157 patients with stage IB-IIB nonsquamous cervical carcinoma with intermediate risk and high risk treated at our institution with DC after type II or III RH from 2007 to 2021. Patients received docetaxel (60-70 mg/m2) and carboplatin (area under the curve 5-6) every 3 weeks for six cycles. The primary endpoint was 2 year recurrence-free survival (RFS) and the secondary endpoint was adverse events (AEs). RESULTS There were 106 intermediate-risk and 51 high-risk patients. The high-risk patients included 11 with positive parametrial involvement, 20 with pelvic lymph node metastases, and 20 with both parametrial involvement and pelvic lymph node metastases. The 2 year RFS rates for intermediate-risk, high-risk, and positive pelvic lymph nodes were 94.8% (95% confidence interval [CI], 87.9-97.8), 80.1% (95% CI, 64.1-89.5), and 74.5% (95% CI, 55.4-86.4), respectively. Sixteen patients had recurrence, including local recurrence (n = 6), distant metastasis (n = 9), and local and distant metastasis (n = 1). Hematologic toxicity was the most frequent AE, especially leukopenia and neutropenia. Nausea and constipation were the most frequent nonhematologic toxicities. CONCLUSION DC therapy at our institution showed good 2 year RFS, and postoperative adjuvant therapy with DC therapy is suggested as a useful strategy for patients with nonsquamous cervical carcinoma.

Abstract
In most developed countries, cervical cancer screening and human papillomavirus vaccination have reduced cervical cancer incidence. However, the incidence has been increasing in Japan, possibly because of the low screening rate. Although cervical cancer incidence has increased in people in their 20s, the screening rate among 20-24-year-olds in Japan is only 10.2%, meaning that cervical cancer screening rates should be increased among young Japanese women. We conducted a questionnaire survey among students at health sciences universities to determine their knowledge of cervical cancer, screening rates, and barriers to screening. Students taking specialized medical courses were highly knowledgeable; recognition of the facts that "cervical cancer can be prevented through screening" and that "the risk of cervical cancer increases in one's 20s" was significantly high among those who underwent screening. On the other hand, only 7.5% of students used the free coupons provided for screening. Knowledge of cervical cancer improves screening rates. Therefore, educational programs to raise awareness of the importance of cervical cancer screening among non-medical and health sciences university students and young women in general are required.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, has few approved targeted therapeutics, and is the most common cause of cancer death in low-resource countries. We characterized 19 cervical and four head and neck cell lines using long-read DNA and RNA sequencing and identified the HPV types, HPV integration sites, chromosomal alterations, and cancer driver mutations. Structural variation analysis revealed telomeric deletions associated with DNA inversions resulting from breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) cycles. BFB is a common mechanism of chromosomal alterations in cancer, and this is one of the first analyses of these events using long-read sequencing. Analysis of the inversion sites revealed staggered ends consistent with exonuclease digestion of the DNA after breakage. Some BFB events are complex, involving inter- or intra-chromosomal insertions or rearrangements. None of the BFB breakpoints had telomere sequences added to resolve the dicentric chromosomes and only one BFB breakpoint showed chromothripsis. Five cell lines have a Chr11q BFB event, with YAP1/BIRC2/BIRC3 gene amplification. Indeed, YAP1 amplification is associated with a 10-year earlier age of diagnosis of cervical cancer and is three times more common in African American women. This suggests that cervical cancer patients with YAP1/BIRC2/BIRC3-amplification, especially those of African American ancestry, might benefit from targeted therapy. In summary, we uncovered new insights into the mechanisms and consequences of BFB cycles in cervical cancer using long-read sequencing.

Organized screening has achieved significant reductions in cervical cancer incidence and mortality in many high-income countries (HICs). But the gap between HICs and low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs) is still substantial as the highest burden of the disease is in LMICs. Cameroon is a LMIC, where cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women, only 3-5% of eligible women have been screened and there is no effective national cervical cancer prevention program. OBJECTIVE(S) Identify facilitators and barriers to the implementation and uptake of existing cervical cancer screening programs in Cameroon to inform the implementation of a comprehensive national program. METHODS We conducted a scoping review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis, extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Google Scholar and five electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane library and Web of Science) were searched systematically from 2012 to 2022. Articles on cervical cancer screening programs in Cameroon were eligible for inclusion. Two reviewers independently screened search results and extracted relevant data. RESULTS A total of 182 articles were identified using our search strategy, and 20 were included. There was scarcity of publications from the North, Adamawa, East and South regions of Cameroon. Barriers and facilitators found were presented using the World Health Organisation framework for health systems. Cross-cutting barriers were: (1) the lack of a national training curriculum for screening providers with no elaborate, harmonized screening and treatment algorithm for cervical precancers; and (2) women's lack of information about cervical cancer screening activities. Conversely, provision of screening services at a low or no cost to women in some programs and the feasibility of using novel point of care screening methods like the Human Papillomavirus DNA test were identified as facilitators. CONCLUSION This scoping review indicates that there are knowledge and research gaps concerning the state of cervical cancer screening services in some regions of Cameroon. Moreover, it underlines the need for comprehensive cancer control policies and practices integrating all six-health system building blocks to reduce disparities between regions, and rural versus urban areas in Cameroon.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is causally associated with 5% of cancers, including cancers of the cervix, penis, vulva, vagina, anus and oropharynx. The most carcinogenic HPV is HPV-16, which dominates the types causing cancer. There is also sufficient evidence that HPV types 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58 and 59 cause cervical cancer. The L1 protein, which, when assembled into virus-like particles, induces HPV-type-specific neutralising antibodies, forms the basis of all commercial HPV vaccines. There are six licensed prophylactic HPV vaccines: three bivalent, two quadrivalent and one nonavalent vaccine. The bivalent vaccines protect from HPV types 16 and 18, which are associated with more than 70% of cervical cancers. Prophylactic vaccination targets children before sexual debut, but there are now catch-up campaigns, which have also been shown to be beneficial in reducing HPV infection and disease. HPV vaccination of adults after treatment for cervical lesions or recurrent respiratory papillomatosis has impacted recurrence. Gender-neutral vaccination will improve herd immunity and prevent infection in men and women. HPV vaccines are immunogenic in people living with HIV, but more research is needed on the long-term impact of vaccination and to determine whether further boosters are required.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted pathogen both in men and women. Accumulating epidemiological evidence supports a strong association between HPV infection and cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, and penis. Currently, data on the HPV prevalence and genotyping is lacking in Northern Cyprus, a region in which HPV vaccination is not freely accessible via the national immunization program. The aim of this study was to evaluate the HPV type-specific prevalence in women with and without cytological abnormalities living in Northern Cyprus. METHODS A total of 885 women who presented to the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic between January 2011 and December 2022 were included in the study. Samples were collected for cytology. Cervical specimens were investigated for the presence of HPV-DNA and genotyping of HPV was performed using real-time polymerase chain reaction (rtPCR). Cytological examination was interpreted according to the Bethesda system. RESULTS Among all patients, overall high-risk HPV DNA prevalence was 44.3%. HPV-16 and HPV-18 positivity was found in 10.4% and 3.7% of women respectively, while other high-risk HPV (OHR-HPV) was the most frequent type of HPV (30.2%). The highest frequency of HPV infection was observed in the 30-55 age group (51.0%), followed by the < 30 age group (45.7%). Co-infection with two or more HPV types was observed in 17.0% of all positive samples, in which the prevalence of HPV-16 + HPV-18 was 2.3%, HPV-16 + OHR-HPV and HPV-18 + OHR-HPV was 12.0% and 5.1%, respectively. Among the screened patients, 37.5% had abnormal and 62.5% had normal cytology results. HR-HPV positivity was 65.7% and 34.0% in patients with abnormal and normal cytology. The highest incidence of HRC-HPV was OHR-HPV types (44.7%) in positive cytology cases. Among women with a cytology result of ASCUS, L-SIL, H-SIL and unspecified dysplasia, 52.1%, 67.6%, 97.5% and 75.6% were respectively infected with HR-HPV. CONCLUSION The present study provides the latest epidemiological data related to HPV prevalence and genotype distribution among women living in Northern Cyprus. Considering the unavailability of free vaccination in the community, it is imperative to implement local HPV screening programs and provide guidelines on HPV prevention and measures during early school education.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is known that socioeconomic status (SES) influences the outcome of cancer treatment and this could partly be explained by decreased use of cancer screening services by people of lower SES. Many studies have indicated that low SES, including low educational attainment or unstable employment, was related to nonparticipation in cancer screening. However, studies investigating trends in SES inequalities within cancer screening participation are limited. Our objective was to examine trends in SES inequalities in cervical, breast, and colorectal cancer screening participation among women in Japan between 2010 and 2019. METHODS We analyzed 189,442, 168,571, 163,341, and 150,828 women in 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019 respectively, using nationally representative cross-sectional surveys. The main outcome variables are participation in each cancer screening. We used educational attainment and employment status as measures for SES. Multivariable logistic regression analysis, adjusted for age, marital status, educational attainment, and employment status was performed to evaluate the associations between SES and nonparticipation in each cancer screening. RESULTS Overall participation rates in each cancer screening increased between 2010 and 2019. Low educational attainment and non-permanent employment status were related to nonparticipation in each cancer screening and inequality according to employment status increased within each screening participation during the study period. For example, dispatched workers were more likely to not participate in cervical cancer screening than permanent workers: in 2010, [aOR 1.11 95 %CI: 1.01 -1.21], and in 2019, [aOR 1.46 95 %CI: 1.34-1.60]. The inequality was greatest in colorectal cancer screening nonparticipation, followed by breast and cervical screening. CONCLUSIONS Although the participation rates in each cancer screening have increased, inequality in participation in terms of employment status widened among women in Japan between 2010 and 2019. Reducing inequalities in cancer screening participation is essential for cancer screening intervention policies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is an international public health issue. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are caused by the human papillomavirus. The HPV vaccine prevents more than 75% of cervical cancer. The extent to which adolescent girls' knowledge and uptake of the HPV vaccine have to be investigated in order to build effective promotion strategies and increase the uptake of the vaccine. The evidence that is currently available in this area is controversial and inconclusive. Hence, this study has estimated the pooled proportion of good knowledge, positive attitude, and uptake of the HPV vaccine and its associated factors among adolescent schoolgirls in Ethiopia. METHODS PubMed, Google Scholar, AJOL, ScienceDirect, and DOAJ were used to search relevant studies. A total of 10 studies were included. The data were extracted by two reviewers using Microsoft Excel and exported to STATA Version 17 for analysis. A random effects model was applied during the analysis. Heterogeneity and publication bias across the studies were evaluated using I2 statistics and Egger's test, respectively. The PROSPERO registration number for the review is CRD42023414030. RESULT A total of eight studies comprising 3936 study participants for knowledge and attitude and five studies with 2,481 study participants for uptake of HPV were used to estimate the pooled proportions of good knowledge, a positive attitude, and uptake of the HPV vaccine, respectively. The pooled proportions of good knowledge, positive attitude, and uptake of the HPV vaccine were 55.12%, 45.34%, and 42.05%, respectively. Being an urban resident (OR = 4.17, 95% CI = 1.81, 9.58), having good knowledge (OR = 6.70, 95% CI = 3.43, 13.07), and a positive attitude (OR = 2.04, 95% CI = 1.51, 2.74), were significantly associated with the uptake of the vaccine. CONCLUSION The pooled proportions of good knowledge, a positive attitude, and uptake of the HPV vaccine were low in Ethiopia. Being an urban resident and having good knowledge and a positive attitude towards the HPV vaccine were significantly associated with the uptake of the HPV vaccine. We recommend increasing adolescent knowledge, positive attitudes, and uptake of HPV vaccination through school-based seminars, health education, and community mobilization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We aimed to evaluate the treatment modality and prognostic impact of the age at diagnosis on stage IIB-IVA cervix carcinoma (CC) patients who received radiotherapy (RT).The evaluation was performed using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. PATIENTS AND METHODS From the SEER database, we included the patients with a histopathological diagnosis of CC between 2004 and 2016. Subsequently, we compared the treatment outcomes between patients aged ≥ 65 years (OG) and < 65 years (YG) by propensity score matching (PSM) analysis and Cox proportional hazard regression models. RESULTS The data of 5,705 CC patients were obtained from the SEER database. We observed that the OG patients were significantly less likely to receive chemotherapy, brachytherapy, or combination treatment compared to the YG (P < 0.001). Further, the advanced age at diagnosis was an independent prognostic factor associated with decreasing overall survival (OS) before and after PSM. Even in the subgroup analysis of patients who received trimodal therapy, an advanced age had a significant negative impact on OS compared to their younger counterparts. CONCLUSION Advanced age is associated with less aggressive treatment regimens and is independently associated with impaired OS for stage IIB-IVA CC patients who received RT. Hence, future studies should incorporate geriatric assessment into clinical decision-making to select appropriate and effective treatment strategies for elderly CC patients.

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study is to analyze the available scientific evidence regarding the quality of life (QoL) and sexual function (SF) in patients affected by cervical cancer (CC) after surgical and adjuvant treatments. Materials and Methods: Preliminary research was conducted via electronic database (MEDLINE, PubMed and Cochrane Library) with the use of a combination of the following keywords: SF, QoL, and CC. The principal findings considered in the present review were the study design, the number of patients included in each study, the information about the malignancy (histology and stage of disease), the questionnaires administered, and the principal findings concerning SF and QoL. Results: All studies were published between 2003–2022. The studies selected consisted of one randomized control study, seven observational studies (three prospective series), and nine case control studies. The scores used were focused on SF, QOL, fatigue, and psychological aspects. All studies reported a decreased SF and QOL. The most developed questionnaires were the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30), the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS), and the Female Sexual Distress Scale (FSDS). Discussion: All studies reported a decreased SF and QOL. In addition to the perception of body image, several factors coexist in influencing the outcomes such as the physical, hormonal, psychological. Conclusions: Sexual dysfunction after CC treatment has a multifactorial aetiology which negatively affects the quality of life. For these reasons, it is important to follow and support patients with a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, psychologists, dieticians) before and after therapy. This type of tailored therapeutic approach should become a standard. Women should be informed about possible vaginal changes and menopausal symptoms after surgery and on the positive effects of psychological therapy.

Currently, cervical cancer, corpus uteri neoplasm, and ovarian cancer are the most common gynecological cancers in Iran. Prostate cancer has increased in Iranian men in the last decade. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the 15-year national trend in the incidence of genital cancers in the Iranian population. METHODS In this study, we used Iranian cancer registration data collected by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, demographic information from the reports of the Statistics Center of Iran, STEPs (STEPwise approach to non-communicable diseases risk factor surveillance), and Caspian (childhood and adolescence surveillance and prevention of adult non-communicable disease). A list of potential auxiliary variables and secondary variables at all levels of the province-age-sex were evaluated during the years. We used mixed-effects Poisson regression to model the data and calculate the incidence of each cancer. RESULTS Our results show an enhancement in the outbreak of all types of male cancers, but the most important are prostate (11.46 in 2005 to 25.67 in 2020 per 100,000 males) and testicular cancers (2.39 in 2005 to 5.05 per 100,000 males). As for female cancers, there has been an increase in ovarian and corpus uteri neoplasm incidence with 6.69 and 4.14 incidences per 100,000 females in 2020, making them the most occurring female genital neoplasms. While the occurrence of cervical cancer has decreased over the years (4.65 in 2005 to 3.24 in 2020). In general, the incidence of genital cancers in men and women has amplified in the last 15 years. CONCLUSIONS Our study examined the trend of change for each malignant genital neoplasm for 15 years in Iranian men and women in each province. Considering the growing trend of the elderly population in Iran, patient awareness and early screening are essential in reducing mortality and costs imposed on patients and the health care system.

Abstract
The gut microbiome can reflect the health condition of the entire body. Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, the major phyla of the colon, can influence diseases related to obesity which are also risk factors for breast cancer. Therefore, the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio was analyzed in patients with breast cancer. Bacterial extracellular vesicles were extracted from the serum of patients with breast cancer and healthy controls. Phyla Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes were analyzed using microbiome sequencing. Prognostic factors for breast cancer and serological test results were analyzed for correlations with the F/B ratio. The F/B ratio was three times lower in patients with breast cancer than in healthy controls. In addition, the risk factor for breast cancer, such as fasting serum glucose, was found to be related to the F/B ratio. The F/B ratio can be used as a risk factor of breast cancer and as a clue to explain underlying mechanisms affecting the development of breast cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) is generally treated using concurrent chemo-radiotherapy (CCRT); yet, the effectiveness of adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) following CCRT remains controversial. METHODS The databases Embase, Web of Science, and PubMed were analyzed for relevant research. Primary endpoints included overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). RESULTS Fifteen trials with 4041 patients were included. Pooled HRs for PFS and OS were 0.81 (95 % CI: 0.67-0.96) and 0.69 (95 % CI: 0.51-0.93), respectively. However, subgroup analyses indicated that in randomized trials and trials with larger sample sizes (n > 100) as well as ACT cycles ≤ 3, ACT was not linked with improved PFS and OS. Moreover, ACT induced a greater rate of hematologic toxicities (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Higher quality of evidence suggests that ACT could not yield additional survival benefits for LACC; however, identifying high-risk patients who may benefit from ACT is required to design further clinical trials and better inform treatment decisions.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma (CESC) are malignant disorders with adverse prognoses for advanced patients. Anoikis, which is involved in tumor metastasis, facilitates the survival and separation of tumor cells from their initial site. Unfortunately, it is rarely studied, and in the literature, studies have only addressed the prognosis character of anoikis for patients with CESC. Materials and Methods: We utilized anoikis-related genes (ANRGs) to construct a prognostic signature in CESC patients that were selected from the Genecards and Harmonizome portals. Furthermore, we revealed the underlying clinical value of this signature for clinical maneuvers by providing clinical specialists with an innovative nomogram on the basis of ANRGs. Finally, we investigated the immune microenvironment and drug sensitivity in different risk groups. Results: We screened six genes from fifty-eight anoikis-related differentially expressed genes in the TCGA-CESC cohort, and we constructed a prognostic signature. Then, we built a nomogram combined with CESC clinicopathological traits and risk scores, which demonstrated that this model may improve the prognosis of CESC patients in clinical therapy. Next, the prognostic risk scores were confirmed to be an independent prognostic indicator. Additionally, we programmed a series of analyses, which included immune infiltration analysis, therapy-related analysis, and GSVA enrichment analysis, to identify the functions and mechanisms of the prognostic models during the progression of cancer in CESC patients. Finally, we performed quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to verify the six ANRGs. Conclusions: The present discovery verified that the predictive 6-anoikis-related gene (6-ANRG) signature and nomogram serve as imperative factors that might notably impact a CESC patient's prognosis, and they may be able to provide new clinical evidence to assume the role of underlying biological biomarkers and thus become indispensable indicators for prospective diagnoses and advancing therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify useful cytological findings for detecting premalignant lesions in postmenopausal women, cervicovaginal smear samples were analyzed and compared between women with or without premalignant lesions based on endocrine indices and presence of parakeratosis (PK). METHODS The cervicovaginal smear samples of postmenopausal women with premalignant lesions (n = 94) and those who were without (n = 344), who were diagnosed between 2012 and 2014 were retrieved and analyzed. Women cytologically diagnosed with malignancy or those with suspicion of malignancy were excluded from this study. Cytological endocrine indices, such as the maturation index (MI) and eosinophilic index (EI) and the prevalence of PK were compared between the groups and analyzed using the 2 × 2 χ2 test. The association of endocrine indices combined with the presence of PK and histological findings was also evaluated. RESULTS Postmenopausal women with premalignant lesions had higher endocrine indices (EI of ≥11%; 65% vs. 43%, P < 0.01, f = 0.18) and a higher prevalence of PK positivity (PK ≥ 1; 46% vs. 7%, P < 0.01, f = 0.44) than those without lesions. Further analysis indicated that the combination of high EI and the presence of PK in postmenopausal women with cytological premalignant cases was highly associated with histological squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) (86% in women with premalignant lesions vs. 53% in those without; P = 0.01, f = 0.34). CONCLUSION Our research demonstrated that high EI and PK positivity were correlated with SIL in postmenopausal women. These cytological findings could provide potential diagnostic clues for detecting dysplasia.

Abstract
Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in China and is responsible for placing a major burden on its economic system. Inner Mongolia is located close to the northern border of China and spans more than 2,400 km from east to west. It has a total area of 1,183,000 km2, which accounts for about one-third of the total area of the country. Its ethnic demographics are complex and unique. We were interested in understanding whether these situations lead to a higher mortality rate for certain types of cancer, which was the motivation behind our research. This study aims to estimate cancer mortality in Inner Mongolia, its burden, and its trend over a 60-year time span. We compiled data pertaining to cancer in Inner Mongolia, obtained from the three national causes of death sample surveys. In addition, we obtained data pertaining to cancer mortality rates from the cause of death surveillance system in Inner Mongolia in the year 2020. The proportion of deaths from various cancers, crude mortality rates, and standardized mortality rates were calculated. The Joinpoint Regression Program was used to calculate mortality trends and the periodic percentage change (PPC) in these rates. We found that the mortality rate of cancer was 142.15/105; the age-standardized mortality rate using the Chinese standard population in 2000 (ASMRC) and Segi's world population (ASMRW) were 86.49/105 and 85.73/105 in 2020, respectively. From 1973 to 2020, during the four time periods, the leading five cancer types contributing to the mortality rate among Inner Mongolia residents in 2020 were stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, cervix/uterine cancer, and lung cancer. The four periods of time PYLL ‰ were 9.05‰, 10.79‰, 12.1‰, and 10.38‰ from 1973 to 2020. The overall trend of the crude mortality rate of cancer in Inner Mongolia from 1973 to 2020 increased (PPC =1.77%, P<0.05). Also, the crude mortality rate and ASMRC were higher in men than in women (P<0.05). The mortality rates of cancer in Inner Mongolia increased with age ie first time period and in 2020 for ages 10 to 84. The same trend was observed for ages 0 and 74 in the second and the third time periods. Overall, in 2020, the CMR and the ASMRW in Inner Mongolia were lower than the national level and significantly lower than those in other domestic Chinese provinces. Lung cancer was the most reported cancer. Cancers from the first to seventh place ranking were consistent with the national ranking in 2020. The overall crude mortality rate of cancer in Inner Mongolia during the four periods revealed an increasing trend, and liver cancer-related mortality also showed an upward trend during the four periods. The findings may provide baseline data for cancer research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) induce long-lasting infections that cause cervical cancer. This study evaluated the prevalence of HPV infections and the distribution of their genotypes among clinic patients and healthy women in Beijing, China. METHODS Cervical specimens were collected from 12,100 patients and 1176 subjects who underwent physical examinations at Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, between March 2016 and September 2020. HPV genotyping was performed using commercial kits designed to detect 15 high-risk and 2 low-risk HPV genotypes. RESULTS There was a higher overall prevalence of HPV among the clinic patients (21.0%) than among the healthy women (11.9%). The most common HPV genotypes among the patients were: HPV-52 (5.4%), HPV-16 (3.4%), HPV-58 (3.2%), HPV-51 (2.6%), HPV-39 (2.0%), HPV-56 (2.0%), and HPV-66 (2.0%). Among the healthy women: HPV-52 (3.0%), HPV-51 (1.8%), HPV-58 (1.6%), HPV-66 (1.5%), HPV-16 (1.2%), HPV-56 (1.2%), and HPV-18 (1.1%). Multiple HPVs were detected in 29.1% of the gynecological outpatients and in 23.6% of the women receiving physical examinations. The most common pairs of HPV types detected were HPV-52 and HPV-16 in the clinic patients, and HPV-52 and HPV-56 in the healthy women. Age-specific HPV positivity and peak prevalence were observed among the individuals in both groups for women aged less than 25 years and those between 61 and 65 years of age. CONCLUSIONS Our results provide current estimates of HPV prevalence and genotypes in the Beijing region. The epidemiological characteristics observed also provide a reference for the development of cervical cancer screening strategies and selection of HPV vaccine antigen targets for this region. A comparison of these HPV prevalence data with those from other regions suggests that regional vaccines may be an important direction for future research.
