Abstract
INTRODUCTION Ambient fine particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) harms adult's renal health. However, research on the associations of PM2.5 and its chemical constituents (black carbon (BC), ammonium ( [Formula: see text] ), nitrate (NO3-), organic matter (OM), and sulfate (SO42-)) with children' kidney health is lacking. OBJECTIVES The aim of this research was to estimate the associations between long-term exposures to PM2.5 and its constituents and children' estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). METHODS We investigated 9770 children from 5 provinces across China during 2016-2017. The eGFR was calculated from serum creatinine. We estimated the mean concentration of PM2.5 and PM2.5 compositions (BC, [Formula: see text] , NO3-, OM, SO42-) during pregnancy, infancy and preschool period for each subject. A generalized linear mixed-effects model was utilized to estimate associations of PM2.5 and its constituents with eGFR. Stratified analyses were conducted to explore effect modifications of sex and urbanicity. RESULTS During the full pregnancy, each interquartile range (IQR) increase in PM2.5 mass (49.07 μg/m3), SO42- (9.14 μg/m3), BC (1.85 μg/m3), [Formula: see text] (7.38 μg/m3), NO3- (12.23 μg/m3) and OM (9.02 μg/m3) was associated with decreased eGFR (ml/min/1.73 m2), with changes of -1.80 (95 % CI: -2.82, -0.78), -1.70 (95 % CI: -2.71, -0.69), -1.83 (95 % CI: -2.63, -1.03), -6.87 (95 % CI: -8.44, -5.30), -7.24 (95 % CI: -9.02, -5.45), and -2.20 (95 % CI: -3.12, -1.28), respectively. In infancy, higher levels of BC, [Formula: see text] , NO3-, and OM were negatively associated with eGFR, and similar associations were found during the preschool period for [Formula: see text] , NO3-, and OM. Furthermore, children living in rural areas were particularly sensitive to PM2.5. CONCLUSION Long-term exposures to PM2.5 and some constituents were negatively associated with children's eGFR. Additionally, the associations of [Formula: see text] and NO3- constituents were more pronounced with renal health than the other chemical constituents. Targeted policies are needed to protect kidney health from PM2.5 exposure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Understanding whether symptoms suggestive of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are reported to primary care before diagnosis may provide opportunities for earlier detection, thus supporting strategies to prevent progression and improve long-term outcomes. Our aim was to determine whether symptoms/signs or consultation frequency recorded in primary care could predict a subsequent diagnosis of chronic kidney disease in children. METHODS We undertook a case-control study within Clinical Practice Research Datalink. Cases were children <21 years with an incident code for severe CKD during the study period (January 2000-September 2018). Controls were matched on age (+/-3 years), sex, and practice-level kidney function testing rate. Conditional logistic regression modelling was used to identify symptoms predictive of severe CKD and differences in consultation frequency in 24- and 6-month timeframes before the index date. RESULTS Symptoms predictive of severe CKD in the 24 months before the index date included growth concerns (OR 7.4, 95% CI 3.5, 15.4), oedema (OR 5.7, 95% CI 2.9, 11.2) and urinary tract infection (OR 3.3, 95% CI 2.1, 5.4); within 6 months of the index date, effect estimates and specificity strengthened although sensitivity decreased. Overall, positive predictive value of symptoms was low. Cases consulted more frequently than controls in both timeframes. In combination, symptoms and consultation frequency demonstrated modest discrimination for CKD (c-statistic after bootstrapping 0.70, 95% CI 0.66, 0.73). CONCLUSION Despite increased consultation frequency and several symptoms being associated with severe chronic kidney disease, the positive predictive value of symptoms is low given disease rarity making earlier diagnosis challenging.

Abstract
IgA nephropathy and IgA vasculitis with nephritis, albeit rare, represent two relatively frequent glomerular conditions in childhood. Compared to adults, pediatric IgA nephropathy has a more acute presentation, most frequently with synpharyngitic macrohematuria and histologically with more intense inflammation and less intense chronic damage. Management of these conditions is controversial and supported by little high-quality evidence. The paucity of evidence is due to the disease heterogeneity, its inter-ethnic variability, and the difficulty of extrapolating data from adult studies due to the peculiarities of the condition in children. IgA vasculitis with nephritis is a kidney manifestation of a systemic disorder, typical of the pediatric age, in which both the diagnosis of kidney involvement and its management are poorly defined, and an interdisciplinary approach is crucial. Both conditions can have a profound and long-lasting impact on kidney function and the global health of affected children. The International Pediatric Nephrology Association has therefore convened a diverse international group of experts from different disciplines to provide guidance on the recommended management of these conditions in children and to establish common definitions and define priorities for future high-quality, evidence-based collaborative studies for the benefit of children.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined by persistent abnormalities of kidney function or structure that have consequences for the health. A progressive decline of excretory kidney function has effects on body homeostasis. CKD is tightly associated with accelerated cardiovascular disease and severe infections, and with premature death. Kidney failure without access to kidney replacement therapy is fatal - a reality in many regions of the world. CKD can be the consequence of a single cause, but CKD in adults frequently relates rather to sequential injuries accumulating over the life course or to the presence of concomitant risk factors. The shared pathomechanism of CKD progression is the irreversible loss of kidney cells or nephrons together with haemodynamic and metabolic overload of the remaining nephrons, leading to further loss of kidney cells or nephrons. The management of patients with CKD focuses on early detection and on controlling all modifiable risk factors. This approach includes reducing the overload of the remaining nephrons with inhibitors of the renin-angiotensin system and the sodium-glucose transporter 2, as well as disease-specific drug interventions, if available. Hypertension, anaemia, metabolic acidosis and secondary hyperparathyroidism contribute to cardiovascular morbidity and reduced quality of life, and require diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the impact of missed or late meal boluses (MLBs) on glycemic outcomes in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes using automated insulin delivery (AID) systems. Research Design and Methods: AID-treated (Tandem Control-IQ or Medtronic MiniMed 780G) children and adolescents (aged 6-21 years) from Stanford Medical Center and Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen with ≥10 days of data were included in this two-center, binational, population-based, retrospective, 1-month cohort study. The primary outcome was the association between the number of algorithm-detected MLBs and time in target glucose range (TIR; 70-180 mg/dL). Results: The study included 189 children and adolescents (48% females with a mean ± standard deviation age of 13 ± 4 years). Overall, the mean number of MLBs per day in the cohort was 2.2 ± 0.9. For each additional MLB per day, TIR decreased by 9.7% points (95% confidence interval [CI] 11.3; 8.1), and compared with the quartile with fewest MLBs (Q1), the quartile with most (Q4) had 22.9% less TIR (95% CI: 27.2; 18.6). The age-, sex-, and treatment modality-adjusted probability of achieving a TIR of >70% in Q4 was 1.4% compared with 74.8% in Q1 (P < 0.001). Conclusions: MLBs significantly impacted glycemic outcomes in AID-treated children and adolescents. The results emphasize the importance of maintaining a focus on bolus behavior to achieve a higher TIR and support the need for further research in technological or behavioral support tools to handle MLBs.

Abstract
Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a critical indicator of renal function assessment, which exhibits age-dependency in children and may differ from adults under various disease conditions. In recent years, there has been a growing focus on GFR among scholars, with an increasing number of clinical studies dedicated to refining and optimizing GFR estimation to span all pediatric age groups. However, the methods and assessment equations for estimating GFR may vary under different disease conditions, affecting the accuracy and applicability of assessments. This article reviews the peculiarities of renal function in children, explores GFR measurement methods, and evaluates the application of various GFR assessment equations in pediatric clinical practice, providing a reference for clinical assessment of renal function in children.

Abstract
Stress is often associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms in adolescents. Stress is associated with components of metabolic syndrome and inflammation. The present study hypothesizes that aldosterone, more than corticosterone, promotes chronic stress-hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, as well as renal inflammation and fibrosis in young adult rats. Thirty-two young adult male Wistar rats of 51 days old were divided into four groups (n = 8 per group): Control (C), chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS), control plus vehicle (C plus veh), CUMS plus eplerenone, a selective aldosterone blocker (CUMS plus EP). On postnatal day 51, eplerenone was administered orally through a gastric tube two hours before the start of the stress test. The CUMS paradigm was administered once daily at different times, with no repetition of the stressor sequence for four weeks. Renal inflammation and fibrosis were measured, as well as liver glycogen, triacylglycerol, and fibrosis levels. The serum concentrations of corticosterone, aldosterone, sodium, and creatinine were measured in urine and serum. The CUMS group showed a high level of serum aldosterone without affecting the level of corticosterone, increased urinary sodium, tubular atrophy, glomerular sclerosis, the presence of inflammation, and fibrosis, without affecting creatinine, increased glycogen content, triacylglycerol, and moderate fibrosis in the liver, and treatment with eplerenone prevented the inflammation, fibrosis, glycogen, and triacylglycerol. Our results show that chronic stress-induced aldosterone promotes hepatic steatosis and renal injury more than corticosterone. The prevention by eplerenone supports our hypothesis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although evidence has confirmed that cyclosporine (CS) is efficacious against childhood-onset steroid-dependent and steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SD/SRNS), some patients may continue to relapse during adulthood. However, predictive factors for adult active disease and kidney complications, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hypertension, in this cohort remain unknown. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study on the long-term outcomes of 81 young adults with childhood-onset SD/SRNS treated with CS. The primary endpoint was the probability of active disease into adulthood. The secondary endpoint was the probability of developing kidney complications. RESULTS At the last follow-up (median age, 23.2 years; median disease duration, 15.8 years), 44 adult patients (54%) continued to have active disease, whereas 16 patients developed CKD or hypertension, respectively. The proportion of patients developing kidney complications was similar between the active disease and long-term remission groups. Young age at NS onset and history of relapse during the initial CS (median, 31 months) were independent predictive factors for active disease. Acute kidney injury at NS onset, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and irreversible CS nephrotoxicity were identified as risk factors for the development of CKD, whereas older age was identified as a risk factor for the development of CKD and hypertension. CONCLUSIONS More than 50% of adult survivors treated with CS continued to have active disease, and each 20% developed CKD or hypertension. A long-term follow-up is necessary for patients with SD/SRNS to identify the development of kidney complications later in adulthood that can be attributed to prior disease and CS treatment in childhood, irrespective of disease activity. Abstract
This review examines the impact of childhood obesity on the kidney from an epidemiological, pathogenetic, clinical, and pathological perspective, with the aim of providing pediatricians and nephrologists with the most current data on this topic. The prevalence of childhood obesity and chronic kidney disease (CKD) is steadily increasing worldwide, reaching epidemic proportions. While the impact of obesity in children with CKD is less pronounced than in adults, recent studies suggest a similar trend in the child population. This is likely due to the significant association between obesity and the two leading causes of end-stage renal disease (ESRD): diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension. Obesity is a complex, systemic disease that reflects interactions between environmental and genetic factors. A key mechanism of kidney damage is related to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Therefore, we can speculate about an adipose tissue-kidney axis in which neurohormonal and immunological mechanisms exacerbate complications resulting from obesity. Adipose tissue, now recognized as an endocrine organ, secretes cytokines called adipokines that may induce adaptive or maladaptive responses in renal cells, leading to kidney fibrosis. The impact of obesity on kidney transplant-related outcomes for both donors and recipients is also significant, making stringent preventive measures critical in the pre- and post-transplant phases. The challenge lies in identifying renal involvement as early as possible, as it is often completely asymptomatic and not detectable through common markers of kidney function. Ongoing research into innovative technologies, such as proteomics and metabolomics, aims to identify new biomarkers and is constantly evolving. Many aspects of pediatric disease progression in the population of children with obesity still require clarification. However, the latest scientific evidence in the field of nephrology offers glimpses into various new perspectives, such as genetic factors, comorbidities, and novel biomarkers. Investigating these aspects early could potentially improve the prognosis of these young patients through new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Hence, the aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive exploration of the pathogenetic mechanisms and prevalent pathological patterns of kidney damage observed in children with obesity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Relationships between adulthood modifiable risk factors and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are well-established, but associations with childhood risk factors are unclear. This study systematically assesses the published evidence about childhood modifiable risk factors and adulthood CKD. METHODS We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Web of Science to 6th May 2022. Articles were included if (1) they were population-based longitudinal studies, (2) exposures were potentially modifiable, for example through pharmacological or lifestyle modifications, including clinical conditions/measures (diabetes, blood pressure, adiposity, and dyslipidaemia); health behaviours (smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, fitness, and poor nutrition); and socio-economic factors (socio-economic position), and occurred during childhood (ages 2-19 years), and (3) outcome was CKD or surrogate markers of CKD in adulthood (ages 20 years or older). Three reviewers independently extracted the data. RESULTS 15,232 articles were identified after deduplication; 17 articles met the inclusion criteria, reporting childhood blood pressure (n = 8), adiposity (n = 4), type 2 diabetes (n = 1), socio-economic position (n = 1), famine (n = 1), cardiorespiratory fitness (n = 1), and a healthy lifestyle score (n = 1). The results suggested positive associations of childhood adiposity, type 2 diabetes, and low socio-economic position and cardiorespiratory fitness in females with CKD in adulthood. Findings were inconsistent on associations between childhood BP and CKD in adulthood. Childhood healthy lifestyle score and exposure to famine were not associated with risk of CKD in adulthood. CONCLUSIONS The limited evidence suggests childhood factors may contribute to the CKD risk in adulthood, particularly adiposity, type 2 diabetes, and low socio-economic position and cardiorespiratory fitness in females. Further high-quality community-based studies are needed with long-term follow-up and investigation of a broader range of modifiable risk factors.

Abstract
Renal fibrosis is the common histopathological feature of chronic kidney diseases (CKD), and there is increasing evidence that epigenetic regulation is involved in the occurrence and progression of renal fibrosis. N-myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (NDRG2) is significantly down-regulated in renal fibrosis, the mechanism of which remains unclear. Previous studies have confirmed that the inhibition of NDRG2 expression in tumor cells is related to hyper-methylation, mainly regulated by DNA methyltransferases (DNMTS). Herein, we explored the expression of NDRG2 and its epigenetic regulatory mechanism in renal fibrosis. The results showed that the expression of NDRG2 was significantly inhibited in vivo and in vitro, while the overexpression of NDRG2 effectively alleviated renal fibrosis. Meanwhile, we found that the expression of DNMT1/3A/3B was significantly increased in hypoxia-induced HK2 cells and Unilateral Ureteral Obstruction (UUO) mice accompanied by hyper-methylation of the NDGR2 promoter. Methyltransferase inhibitor (5-AZA-dC) corrected the abnormal expression of DNMT1/3A/3B, reduced the methylation level of NDRG2 promoter and restored the expression of NDRG2. The upstream events that mediate changes in NDRG2 methylation were further explored. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are important epigenetic regulators and have been shown to play a key role in renal injury due to various causes. Accordingly, we further explored whether ROS could induce DNA-epigenetic changes of the expression of NDRG2 and then participated in the development of renal fibrosis. Our results showed that mitochondria-targeted antioxidants (Mito-TEMPO) could reverse the epigenetic inhibition of NDRG2 in a DNMT-sensitive manner, showing strong ability of DNA demethylation, exhibiting epigenetic regulation and anti-fibrosis effects similar to 5-AZA-dC. More importantly, the anti-fibrotic effects of 5-AZA-dC and Mito-TEMPO were eliminated in HK2 cells with NDRG2 knockdown. These findings highlight that targeting ROS-mediated hyper-methylation of NDRG2 promoter is a potentially effective therapeutic strategy for renal fibrosis, which will provide new insights into the treatment of CKD.

Abstract
Key Points Limited data exist to inform younger persons with CKD how their risk for mortality compares with equivalently aged individuals without CKD. Compared with the general population without CKD, the age-stratified risk for mortality was highest in younger individuals with CKD. From a lifetime perspective, the estimated reduction of lifespan secondary to CKD was greatest at younger ages. Background Younger individuals living with CKD face a lifetime at risk for complications and mortality. Limited data exist to inform individual patients with CKD across the lifespan how their risk for mortality compares with equivalently aged individuals without CKD, particularly at younger ages. The objective of this study was to provide age-specific contexts to the risk of mortality associated with a diagnosis of CKD. Methods We created a pooled study cohort using participants with CKD enrolled in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort along with participants aged 21–75 years included in the 1999–2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey surveys. Age-stratified mortality rates, along with unadjusted and adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for mortality, were generated to compare differences between those with and without CKD. The mean life-years lost (LYL) relating to CKD was calculated using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention life tables. Results A total of 16,725 participants were included. Mortality rates were higher in those with CKD at all ages. The adjusted age-stratified HR for mortality in those with CKD versus without was highest in the 21–35 years strata (HR [95% confidence interval (CI)], 4.9 [2.8 to 8.6])) and lowest in the 65–75 years strata (HR [95% CI], 2.0 [1.7 to 2.3]). The mean LYL secondary to CKD was inversely related with increasing age. Conclusions Compared with age-matched peers without CKD, the age-stratified risk for mortality and LYL associated with a diagnosis of CKD is highest in younger individuals. Further research is needed to elucidate the societal and personal costs of premature mortality associated with CKD in young adults.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The current childhood obesity pandemic is likely to result in an increased risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) later in life. Correlations between obesity-related comorbidities and kidney function can be found, but it is unclear to what extent this is caused by bias due to different mathematical forms of the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) equations. The present study aimed to analyze correlations between obesity-related comorbidities and different eGFR equations and to investigate whether rescaled serum creatinine (SCr/Q) for sex and age or height might be an alternative biomarker for kidney function estimation. METHODS This cross-sectional cohort study included 600 children with overweight and obesity. Mean age was 12.20 ± 3.28 years, 53.5% were female, and mean BMI z-score was 3.31 ± 0.75. All children underwent a comprehensive assessment that included anthropometrical and blood pressure measurements, laboratory examination, air displacement plethysmography, and polysomnography. Qage and Qheight polynomials were used to rescale SCr and multiple creatinine-based eGFR equations were compared. RESULTS SCr/Q and almost all GFR estimations significantly correlated with a waist-to-hip ratio, fat mass, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance, and triacylglyceride, HDL cholesterol, alanine transaminase, and serum uric acid concentrations. Multiple correlations, however, were not confirmed by all equations, which suggests dependency on the mathematical form of the different eGFR equations. CONCLUSIONS Correlations between obesity-related comorbidities and creatinine-based eGFR are present in children with overweight and obesity, but depend to a large extent on the eGFR equation of choice. SCr/Q might be an alternative biomarker for assessing correlations between obesity-related comorbidities and kidney function in children with overweight and obesity. Abstract
Congenital disorders characterized by the quantitative and qualitative reduction in the number of functional nephrons are the primary cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children. We aimed to describe the alteration of urinary extracellular vesicles (uEVs) associated with decreased renal function during childhood. By nanoparticle tracking analysis and quantitative proteomics, we identified differentially expressed proteins in uEVs in bilateral renal hypoplasia, which is characterized by a congenitally reduced number of nephrons. This expression signature of uEVs reflected decreased renal function in CKD patients by congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract or ciliopathy. As a proof-of-concept, we constructed a prototype ELISA system that enabled the isolation of uEVs and quantitation of expression of molecules representing the signature. The system identified decreased renal function even in its early stage. The uEVs signature could pave the way for non-invasive methods that can complement existing testing methods for diagnosing kidney diseases. Abstract
During the past decades, remarkable progress has been made in our understanding of the molecular basis of kidney diseases, as well as in the ability to pinpoint disease-causing genetic changes. Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) are remarkably diverse, and may be either isolated to the kidney or involve other systems, and are notorious in their variable genotype-phenotype correlations. Genetic conditions underlying CAKUT are individually rare, but collectively contribute to disease etiology in ~ 16% of children with CAKUT. In this review, we will discuss basic concepts of kidney development and genetics, common causes of monogenic CAKUT, and the approach to diagnosing and managing a patient with suspected monogenic CAKUT. Altogether, the concepts presented herein represent an introduction to the emergence of nephrogenetics, a fast-growing multi-disciplinary field that is focused on deciphering the causes and manifestations of genetic kidney diseases as well as providing the framework for managing patients with genetic forms of CAKUT.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify the relationships between the statements of nursing diagnoses for children with kidney diseases prepared according to the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) with the diagnoses of NANDA International (NANDA-I). METHODS Methodological study operationalized by the steps: 1) Survey of clinical findings through interviews and physical examination with children; 2) Elaboration of nursing diagnoses through Gordon's clinical judgment; 3) Cross-mapping of diagnostic statements between the NANDA-I and ICNP® classification systems; 4) Content validation using the Delphi technique, in two rounds, with specialist nurses. RESULTS 90 children participated. A total of 151 diagnoses were made, of which 66.3% (n=100) used ICNP® terminology and 33.7% (n=51) used NANDA-I; 55 diagnoses showed equivalence of meanings. CONCLUSIONS Cross-mapping of diagnoses was achieved starting from the reality of children, using clinical reasoning and validation by specialist nurses.

Abstract
AIM To investigate real-world glycaemic outcomes and goals achieved by users of the MiniMed 780G advanced hybrid closed loop (AHCL) system aged younger and older than 15 years with type 1 diabetes (T1D). MATERIALS AND METHODS Data uploaded by MiniMed 780G system users from 27 August 2020 to 22 July 2021 were aggregated and retrospectively analysed based on self-reported age (≤15 years and >15 years) for three cohorts: (a) post-AHCL initiation, (b) 6-month longitudinal post-AHCL initiation and (c) pre- versus post-AHCL initiation. Analyses included mean percentage of time spent in AHCL and at sensor glucose ranges, insulin delivered and the proportion of users achieving recommended glucose management indicator (GMI < 7.0%) and time in target range (TIR 70-180 mg/dl > 70%) goals. RESULTS Users aged 15 years or younger (N = 3211) achieved a GMI of 6.8% ± 0.3% and TIR of 73.9% ± 8.7%, while spending 92.7% of time in AHCL. Users aged older than 15 years (N = 8874) achieved a GMI of 6.8% ± 0.4% and TIR of 76.5% ± 9.4% with 92.3% of time in AHCL. Time spent at less than 70 mg/dl was within the recommended target of less than 4% (3.2% and 2.3%, respectively). Similar outcomes were observed for each group (N = 790 and N = 1642, respectively) in the first month following AHCL initiation, and were sustained over the 6-month observation period. CONCLUSIONS This real-world analysis shows that more than 75% of users with T1D aged 15 years or younger using the MiniMed 780G system achieved international consensus-recommended glycaemic control, mirroring the achievements of the population aged older than 15 years.

Abstract
Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are widely added to various industrial and consumer products, and are mainly used as flame retardants and plasticizers. Existing epidemiological studies suggest that OPE exposure may be linked to increased blood pressure (BP) and hypertension risk in adults. However, it remains unclear whether OPE exposure is associated with increased BP in children and adolescents. Here, we investigated the associations between OPE exposure and BP levels in 6-18-year-old children and adolescents from a cross-sectional study in Liuzhou, China. OPE metabolites were determined in spot urine samples (n = 1194) collected between April and May 2018. Three measurements of systolic and diastolic BP for each participant were averaged as study outcomes. Associations of OPE exposure with age-, sex- and height-standardized BP were assessed using linear regression models. We found that each natural log unit increment of bis(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (BDCIPP) was associated with a 0.06 standard deviation unit (95% confidant interval (CI): 0.01, 0.11) increase in systolic BP z-score. When conducting stratified analysis based on sex, age, and BMI category, BDCIPP was shown to be positively associated with systolic/diastolic BP z-score in females, but not in males. The associations between bis(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (BBOEP) and systolic/diastolic BP z-score were pronounced in adolescents, but not in children. Moreover, a significant positive association between 1-hydroxy-2-propyl bis(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (BCIPHIPP) and diastolic BP z-score was observed in obese subjects. The present study provides the first evidence that OPE exposure was related to increased BP in children and adolescents. Given the scarcity of high-quality evidence supporting these results, the health effects of OPEs are warrant investigation in well-designed prospective studies.

RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar as relações dos enunciados de diagnósticos de enfermagem para crianças com doenças renais elaborados segundo a Classificação Internacional para a Prática de Enfermagem (CIPE®) com os diagnósticos da NANDA Internacional (NANDA-I). Métodos: Estudo metodológico operacionalizado pelas etapas: 1) Levantamento dos achados clínicos por meio de entrevista e exame físico com crianças; 2) Elaboração dos diagnósticos de enfermagem mediante o julgamento clínico de Gordon; 3) Mapeamento cruzado dos enunciados de diagnósticos entre os sistemas de classificação NANDA-I e CIPE®; 4) Validação de conteúdo utilizando a técnica Delphi, em duas rodadas, com enfermeiros especialistas. Resultados: Participaram 90 crianças. Foram elaborados 151 diagnósticos, dos quais 66,3% (n= 100) da terminologia da CIPE® e 33,7% (n= 51) da NANDA-I; 55 diagnósticos apresentaram equivalência de significados. Conclusões: O mapeamento cruzado de diagnósticos foi alcançado partindo-se da realidade de crianças, com uso de raciocínio clínico e validação por enfermeiros especialistas.
