Abstract
This study examines remaining life expectancy (RLE) after a cancer diagnosis, focusing on age, sex, cancer type, and metabolic syndrome (MS) components, using data from the SIDIAP database in Catalonia (2006-2017). RLE was analyzed for 13 cancer types, stratified by sex and MS components. The cohort study includes 183,364 individuals followed from diagnosis until death, transfer, or study end (December 2017). RLE at age 68 (median diagnosis age) was calculated based on MS components (0, 1, 2, and ≥ 3). Men aged 68 with 0 MS components had an RLE of 13.2 years, compared to 8.9 years for those with ≥ 3 MS. Women had an RLE of 15.9 years with 0 MS components versus 11.4 years with ≥ 3 MS. RLE varied by cancer type, with the highest RLE in men seen in prostate cancer and in women in non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The lowest RLE for both sexes was in pancreatic cancer. The largest differences between 0 and ≥ 3 MS components were observed in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and the smallest in pancreatic cancer. Increased MS components were associated with reduced RLE in at least 8 cancer types for men and 9 for women. Prevention strategies targeting MS components could increase RLE in cancer patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to assess the association of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its individual components in cancer survivors (CS) by gender, in comparison to participants without a history of cancer who have at least one chronic disease (CD) and those without a chronic disease diagnosis (NCD). METHODS Data from participants 40 years and older (n = 12,734) were collected from the 2011 to 2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey dataset. MetS was defined based on the National Cholesterol Education Program's Adult Treatment Panel III. Chi-square test and multivariate-adjusted logistic regression was used to assess group comparisons and associations respectively. RESULTS Compared to NCD, CS and CD men had increased odds of meeting MetS, OR 2.60 (CI 1.75-3.87) and OR 2.18 (CI 1.59-2.98) respectively. For women, CS and CD participants also had higher odds of meeting MetS criteria compared to their healthy counterparts, OR 2.05 (CI 1.44-2.93) and OR 2.14 (CI 1.63-2.81) respectively. In subgroup analysis by cancer site, CS men with a history of hematologic malignancies (OR 4.88, CI 1.30-18.37) and CS women with cervical cancer (OR 4.25, CI 1.70-10.59) had highest odds of developing MetS, compared to NCD. CS men also showed a strong association with elevated waist circumference, low high density lipoprotein-c, and elevated triglycerides, even by cancer site, but there were no consistent findings among women. CONCLUSION This study indicates that CS men have a strong association with MetS, especially among those with blood-related cancers.

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome is a group of disorders-hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and insulin resistance-that together increase the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Although ~60% of cancer patients have metabolic syndrome, which increases their risk of mortality, oncology providers lack clear guidance about its management. The development of metabolic syndrome lifestyle interventions requires a better understanding of these patients' knowledge, attitudes, and intervention preferences in order to inform management. During 2022-2023, 19 adult cancer patients with metabolic syndrome engaged in semistructured interviews focused on metabolic syndrome and lifestyle interventions. Interviews were analyzed using hybrid thematic analysis involving deductive and inductive coding. The findings indicated that patients lack knowledge about metabolic syndrome, were motivated to prioritize lifestyle modifications, and expressed strong interest in personalized care plans focused on healthy lifestyle rather than simply on weight loss. As part of their tailored intervention plans, participants desired clear communication with, and coordination of care among, their medical team and shared decision-making with providers about treatment decisions. The findings indicate that patients with metabolic syndrome want collaborative, patient-centered care, tailored interventions, and practical implementation strategies. This research will be used to inform the development of future lifestyle interventions for patients diagnosed with metabolic syndrome based on their identified needs and preferences.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The relationship between metabolism and cardiovascular diseases is complex and bidirectional. Cardiac cells must adapt metabolic pathways to meet biosynthetic demands and energy requirements to maintain contractile function. During cancer, this homeostasis is challenged by the increased metabolic demands of proliferating cancer cells. RECENT FINDINGS Tumors have a systemic metabolic impact that extends beyond the tumor microenvironment. Lipid metabolism is critical to cancer cell proliferation, metabolic adaptation, and increased cardiovascular risk. Metabolites serve as signals which provide insights for diagnosis and prognosis in cardio-oncology patients. SUMMARY Metabolic processes demonstrate a complex relationship between cancer cell states and cardiovascular remodeling with potential for therapeutic interventions.

Abstract
Background The destructive Wenchuan earthquake has led to approximately 800,000 people being bereaved. In the previous cross-sectional study, we explored the long-term incidence of Metabolic Syndrome (MS) and studied its influencing factors among the bereaved population 12 years after the Wenchuan earthquake. Chronic disease self-management has become a recognized public health service. Studies have shown that demographic and genetic factors, stress, geographical environment, society, culture, dietary habits, lifestyle, and other aspects influence MS. Due to the Wenchuan earthquake being a serious stress event, the implementation of targeted interventions should be discussed further. Objectives To verify the effect of applying a self-management intervention program for patients with MS among the bereaved population following the Wenchuan earthquake. Design A randomized controlled trial (RCT) design was adopted. Participants A total of 132 bereaved patients with MS following the Wenchuan earthquake constituted the sample. Methods The study was based on the Cognitive-Phenomenological-Transaction, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, and Patient Empowerment Conceptual Model, which combined with the latest evidence-based guidelines, were used to systematically evaluate cross-sectional results of this study that were used to construct a stress management-based health self-management intervention program and MS health self-management manual for bereaved patients with MS following the Wenchuan earthquake. In addition, we revised and completed a health self-management intervention program and health self-management manual for patients with MS by using the expert consultation method. General data were collected prior to intervention (T0). We collected the patients' MS disease-related physiological indicators before intervention (T0), after intervention (T1), and 2 months after intervention (T2). EipData3.1 software was used to input data in duplex and duplicate, and SPSS22.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results The variance analysis showed that the total score of healthy self-management behavior and the score of diet management, exercise management, drug management, and emotional management have intergroup effects, time effects, and group-time interaction effects (p < 0.05). When the differences between groups were further compared, we found that the total score and the score of six dimensions (excluding disease self-monitoring management) were higher than those of the control groups at T1 and T2, and the differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion The intervention program of healthy self-management for patients with MS who come from bereaved families following the Wenchuan earthquake can effectively improve patients' health self-management behaviors.

Abstract
Previous studies showed conflicting results regarding the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and risk of lung cancer. We performed a systemic review and meta-analysis to determine the relationship between MetS and lung cancer incidence and mortality in adults. Longitudinal follow-up studies were identified by search of Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. By incorporating potential heterogeneity into the model, a randomized-effects model was selected to pool the results. Fourteen observational studies were included. Pooled results showed that MetS was associated with a higher risk of lung cancer incidence [risk ratio (RR): 1.15, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.05 to 1.26, p=0.002; I2=89%). Subgroup analysis suggested that the association was not significantly affected by study country, design, sex of the participants, adjustment of smoking, or different study quality scores (p for subgroup difference all>0.05). The association was predominantly contributed by studies with MetS defined by the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel-III rather than those with MetS defined by the International Diabetes Foundation criteria, and the association seemed to be stronger in studies with follow-up within 6 years than those over 6 years (p for subgroup difference=0.03 and 0.04, respectively). In addition, pooled results also showed that MetS was associated with a higher risk of lung cancer mortality (RR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.19 to 1.79, p <0.001; I2=0%). In conclusion, in adult population, MetS may be a risk factor of lung cancer incidence and mortality.

Abstract
Cancer has become a leading cause of death among patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS). The more components of MetS a patient has, the higher his cancer risk is. MetS is causally associated with colorectal, pancreatic, gallbladder, biliary, hepatocellular, gastric and esophageal adenocarcinomas. MetS increases cancer mortality up to 2.4-fold. Intentional long-term weight loss reduces the excess cancer risk of obese MetS-patients. Preventing and treating the MetS together with GI cancer screening is effective and decreases the burden of GI cancer mortality significantly.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with cancer risk; however, little is known regarding its relationship with the risk of cancer-related premature death and long-term sick leave (LTSL), which can lead to a substantial loss in working years. The present study aimed to quantify the all-site and site-specific associations between MetS and the risk of severe cancer events (a composite outcome of LTSL and mortality due to cancer) in a large working population in Japan. METHODS We recruited 70,875 workers (59,950 men and 10,925 women), aged 20-59 years, who attended health check-ups in 2011 (10 companies) and 2014 (2 companies). All workers underwent follow up for severe cancer events until March 31, 2020. MetS was defined in accordance with the Joint Interim Statement. Cox regression models were used to quantify the association between baseline MetS and severe cancer events. RESULTS During 427,379 person-years of follow-up, 523 participants experienced the outcome consisting of 493 LTSLs of which 124 eventually resulted in death, and 30 deaths without taking LTSL. The adjusted hazard ratios (HR) (95% confidence intervals [CI]) for composite severe events due to all-site, obesity-related, and non-obesity-related cancer among those with vs. without MetS were 1.26 (1.03, 1.55), 1.37 (1.04, 1.82), and 1.15 (0.84, 1.56), respectively. In cancer site-specific analyses, MetS was associated with an increased risk of severe events due to pancreatic cancer (HR, 2.06; 95% CI, 0.99-4.26). When mortality was treated solely as the endpoint, the association was significant for all-site (HR, 1.58; 95% CI, 1.10-2.26), and obesity-related (HR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.00-2.54) cancer. Additionally, a greater number of MetS components was associated with a greater risk of both severe cancer events and cancer-related mortality (P trend < 0.05). CONCLUSION Among Japanese workers, MetS was associated with an increased risk of severe cancer events, especially those due to obesity-linked cancer.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cancer cells with self-renewal ability and tumor initiating properties. Unlike the other non-stem cancer cells, CSCs resist traditional therapy and remain a major cause of disease relapse. With the recent advances in metabolomics, various studies have demonstrated that CSCs have distinct metabolic properties. Metabolic reprogramming in CSCs contributes to self-renewal and maintenance of stemness. Accumulating evidence suggests that rewiring of energy metabolism is a key player that enables to meet energy demands, maintains stemness, and sustains cancer growth and invasion. CSCs use various mechanisms such as increased glycolysis, redox signaling, and autophagy modulation to overcome nutritional deficiency and sustain cell survival. The alterations in lipid metabolism acquired by the CSCs support biomass production through increased dependence on fatty acid synthesis and β-oxidation, and contribute to oncogenic signaling pathways. This review summarizes our current understanding of lipid metabolism in CSCs and how pharmacological regulation of autophagy and lipid metabolism influences CSC phenotype. Increased dependence on lipid metabolism appears as an attractive strategy to eliminate CSCs using therapeutic agents that specifically target CSCs based on their modulation of lipid metabolism.

Abstract
Plant polysaccharides (PPS) composed of more than 10 monosaccharides show high safety and various pharmacological activities, including immunoregulatory, antitumor, antioxidative, antiaging, and other effects. In recent years, emerging evidence has indicated that many PPS are beneficial for metabolic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes, obesity, and neurological diseases, which are usually caused by the metabolic disorder of fat, sugar, and protein. In this review, we introduce the common characteristics and functional activity of many representative PPS, emphasize the common risks and molecular mechanism of metabolic diseases, and discuss the pharmacological activity and mechanism of action of representative PPS obtained from plants including Aloe vera, Angelica sinensis, pumpkin, Lycium barbarum, Ginseng, Schisandra chinensis, Dioscorea pposite, Poria cocos, and tea in metabolic diseases. Finally, this review will provide directions and a reference for future research and for the development of PPS into potential drugs for the treatment of metabolic diseases.

Abstract
Interleukin-17 (IL-17) family cytokines are potent drivers of inflammatory responses. Although IL-17 was originally identified as a cytokine that induces protective effects against bacterial and fungal infections, IL-17 can also promote chronic inflammation in a number of autoimmune diseases. Research in the last decade has also elucidated critical roles of IL-17 during cancer development and treatment. Intriguingly, IL-17 seems to play a role in the risk of cancers that are associated with metabolic disorders. In this review, we summarize our current knowledge on the biochemical basis of IL-17 signaling, IL-17′s involvement in cancers and metabolic disorders, and postulate how IL-17 family cytokines may serve as a bridge between these two types of diseases.

Abstract
Cancer has become a leading cause of death among patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS). The more components of MetS a patient has, the higher his risk of cancer. MetS is causally associated with colorectal, pancreatic, gallbladder, biliary, hepatocellular, gastric, esophageal, thyroid, breast, endometrial and renal cell cancers. MetS increases cancer mortality up to 2,4-fold. Intentional long-term weight loss reduces the excess cancer risk of obese MetS-patients. Both a low-risk lifestyle and cancer screening are effective and decrease the burden of cancer.

Abstract
Purpose The association between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and the risk of death from cancer is still a controversial issue. The purpose of this study was to examine the associations of MetS and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUHO) with cancer mortality in a Japanese population. Methods We used data from the Japan Multi-Institutional Collaborative Cohort Study. The study population consisted of 28,554 eligible subjects (14,103 men and 14,451 women) aged 35–69 years. MetS was diagnosed based on the criteria of the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP-ATP III) and the Japan Society for the Study of Obesity (JASSO), using the body mass index instead of waist circumference. The Cox proportional hazards analysis was used to estimate adjusted hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for total cancer mortality in relation to MetS and its components. Additionally, the associations of obesity and the metabolic health status with cancer mortality were examined. Results During an average 6.9-year follow-up, there were 192 deaths from cancer. The presence of MetS was significantly correlated with increased total cancer mortality when the JASSO criteria were used (HR = 1.51, 95% CI 1.04–2.21), but not when the NCEP-ATP III criteria were used (HR = 1.09, 95% CI 0.78–1.53). Metabolic risk factors, elevated fasting blood glucose, and MUHO were positively associated with cancer mortality (P <0.05). Conclusion MetS diagnosed using the JASSO criteria and MUHO were associated with an increased risk of total cancer mortality in the Japanese population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the effects of weight change on the risk of metabolic abnormalities in the Chinese population. METHODS A total of 1895 metabolically healthy adults aged 21-78 years completed anthropometric and biological measurements at baseline (2012) and at an eight year follow-up (2020). Based on absolute weight change and relative weight change, the participants were split into five classes. A Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to estimate the relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) for the risk of metabolic abnormalities using stable weight as the reference group. Stratified analysis was used to explore this relationship in participants with different baseline body mass index (BMI) levels. RESULTS During the follow-up period, 35.41% of the participants retained a stable weight, and 10.71% had metabolic abnormalities. After covariate adjustment, for every kilogram gained over eight years, the risk of developing metabolic abnormalities increased by 22% (RR: 1.094; 95% CI: 1.063-1.127). Compared with stable weight participants, weight gain of 2-4 Kg and weight gain ≥ 4 Kg exhibited significantly higher risks of metabolic abnormalities, with RR of 1.700 (95% CI 1.150-2.513) and 1.981 (95% CI 1.372-2.859), respectively. A weight gain of ≥ 4 Kg had an opposite effect on the overweight/obesity and non-overweight/obesity groups, with an increased risk of metabolic abnormalities only in the non-overweight/obesity group (RR, 2.291; 95% CI, 1.331-3.942). Moreover, weight loss ≥ 4 Kg significantly reduced the risk of metabolic abnormalities only among overweight/obese adults (RR 0.373; 95% CI 0.154-0.906). Similar results were observed in relative body weight change analyses. CONCLUSIONS Long-term excessive body weight gain is positively associated with an increased risk of metabolic abnormalities among adults with non-overweight/obesity, whereas long-term body weight loss is a protective factor for metabolic health among adults with overweight/obesity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the relevance of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and metabolic scores to the occurrence, progression and prognosis of metastatic prostate cancer (mPCA), assessing the definition of the variables of metabolic syndrome, and the potential mechanisms of MetS and mPCA. METHODS Data were obtained from the database of prostate cancer follow-up at the Urology Centre of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (N=1303). After screening by inclusion and exclusion criteria, clinical data of 190 patients diagnosed with mPCA by pathology and imaging from January 2010 to August 2021 were finally included, including 111 cases in the MetS group and 79 cases in the Non-MetS group. RESULTS The MetS group was higher than the Non-MetS group: T stage, Gleasson score, initial PSA, tumor load, PSA after 7 months of ADT (P<0.05),with a shorter time to progression to CRPC stage(P<0.05)[where the time to progression to CRPC was relatively shorter in the high metabolic score subgroup of the MetS group than in the low subgroup (P<0.05)].Median survival time was significantly shorter in the MetS group than in the Non-MetS group (P<0.05),and there was a correlation with metabolic score, with the higher metabolic score subgroup having a lower survival time than the lower metabolic score subgroup (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Those with mPCA combined with MetS had lower PSA remission rates, more aggressive tumors, shorter time to progression to CRPC and shorter median survival times than those with mPCA without MetS.Tumour progression and metabolic score showed a positive correlation, predicting that MetS may promote the progression of mPCA, suggesting that MetS may be a risk factor affecting the prognosis of mPCA.

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with cardiovascular disease in the general population and is also a potential cardiovascular risk factor in survivors of haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). We report an EBMT cross-sectional, multi-centre, non-interventional study of 453 adult HCT patients surviving a minimum of 2 years post-transplant attending routine follow-up HCT and/or late effects clinics in 9 centres. The overall prevalence of MetS was 37.5% rising to 53% in patients >50 years of age at follow-up. There were no differences in rates of MetS between autologous and allogeneic HCT survivors, nor any association with graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) or current immunosuppressant therapy. Notably, there was a significantly higher occurrence of cardiovascular events (CVE, defined as cerebrovascular accident, coronary heart disease or peripheral vascular disease) in those with MetS than in those without MetS (26.7% versus 9%, p < 0.001, OR 3.69, 95% CI 2.09-6.54, p < 0.001), and, as expected, MetS and CVE were age-related. Unexpectedly, CVE were associated with occurrence of second malignancy. Screening for and management of MetS should be integrated within routine HCT long-term follow-up care for both allogeneic and autologous HCT survivors. Further research is warranted, including randomised controlled trials of interventional strategies and mechanistic studies of cardiovascular risk in HCT survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Globally, the number of metabolic syndrome (MetS) cases has increased substantially over time. However, the association between air pollution (AP) and MetS risk has been contradictory in observational studies. This is the first reported meta-analysis quantitatively exploring the aforementioned association. METHODS We searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science database entries up to September 14, 2020, and searches were updated up to December 6, 2020 to identify eligible articles on the AP-MetS risk association. No language restriction was imposed. Random-effects models were applied to estimate summary and subgroup effect sizes with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020210431. RESULTS Eight articles (nine studies) were eligible for the meta-analysis. Increased MetS prevalence was not found to be associated with particulate matter less than 1 μm (PM1), 2.5 μm (PM2.5), and 10 μm (PM10) in diameter or nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and the summary effect sizes were 1.33 (95% CI: 0.95-1.85), 1.34 (95% CI: 0.96-1.89), 1.18 (95% CI: 0.98-1.19), and 1.28 (95% CI: 0.89-1.82), respectively, based on cross-sectional studies. The summary results indicated no association between each 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5 and MetS incidence (effect size 2.78 [95% CI: 0.70-11.02]), based on cohort studies. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that MetS incidence in older men increased dramatically by 992% with each 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5. CONCLUSIONS The evidence presented here suggests that although exposure to PM1, PM2.5, PM10, or NO2 was not found to have a significant association with the occurrence of MetS, the statistical significance of the relationship between exposure to PM1, PM2.5, or PM10 and MetS prevalence was approximately borderline. More studies on AP-MetS risk association in low-/middle-income countries, as well as on the association between other air pollutants and MetS risk, are warranted. A sufficient number of high-quality studies is required to perform a meaningful meta-analysis of the relationship between air pollutants and MetS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has a high recurrence risk and poor clinical outcomes. Associations between metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk components and mortality in postmenopausal women with TNBC were examined in the Women's Health Initiative. METHODS Five hundred forty-four postmenopausal women were diagnosed with nonmetastatic TNBC. Baseline risk components included a high waist circumference (≥88 cm), high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes. Groups were categorized by the number of MetS risk components: none, 1 or 2, or 3 or 4. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) across groups were computed with multivariable adjusted Cox models. Outcomes included breast cancer-specific mortality and breast cancer overall mortality (breast cancer followed by death from any cause). Variables in the multivariable model included age at TNBC diagnosis; race/ethnicity; income; education; clinical/observational trial status; history of oral contraceptive, hormone, and/or statin use; cancer stage; and chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment status. RESULTS Of the 544 participants with TNBC, 33% had no MetS risk components (n = 178), 59% had 1 or 2 risk components (n = 323), and 8% had 3 or 4 risk components (n = 43). After a median follow-up from diagnosis of 8.3 years, multivariable results showed that women with 3 or 4 risk components had a nonsignificantly higher risk of breast cancer mortality (HR, 2.05; 95% CI, 0.94-4.47 trend P = .114) and a significantly higher risk of overall mortality (HR, 2.13; 95% CI, 1.22-3.71; trend P = .006) versus women with 0 risk components. CONCLUSIONS Postmenopausal women with TNBC and 3 or 4 MetS risk components have a nonsignificantly higher breast cancer mortality risk and a significantly higher overall mortality risk, likely because of negative influences of metabolic risk factors on several causes of death.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiometabolic abnormalities are a leading cause of death among women, including women with cancer. METHODS This study examined the association between prediagnosis cardiovascular health and total and cause-specific mortality among 12,076 postmenopausal women who developed local- or regional-stage invasive cancer in the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). Cardiovascular risk factors included waist circumference, hypertension, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes. Obesity-related cancers included breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) adjusted for important predictors of survival. RESULTS After a median follow-up of 10.0 years from the date of the cancer diagnosis, there were 3607 total deaths, with 1546 (43%) due to cancer. Most participants (62.9%) had 1 or 2 cardiometabolic risk factors, and 8.1% had 3 or 4. In adjusted models, women with 3 to 4 risk factors (vs none) had a higher risk of all-cause mortality (HR, 1.99; 95% CI, 1.73-2.30), death due to cardiovascular disease (CVD) (HR, 4.01; 95% CI, 2.88-5.57), cancer-specific mortality (HR, 1.37; 95% CI, 1.1-1.72), and other-cause mortality (HR, 2.14; 95% CI, 1.70-2.69). A higher waist circumference was associated with greater all-cause mortality (HR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.06-1.30) and cancer-specific mortality (HR, 1.22; 95% CI, 1.04-1.42). CONCLUSIONS Among postmenopausal women diagnosed with cancer in the WHI, cardiometabolic risk factors before the cancer diagnosis were associated with greater all-cause, CVD, cancer-specific, and other-cause mortality. These results raise hypotheses regarding potential clinical intervention strategies targeting cardiometabolic abnormalities that require future prospective studies for confirmation. LAY SUMMARY This study uses information from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) to find out whether cardiac risk factors are related to a greater risk of dying among older women with cancer. The WHI is the largest study of medical problems faced by older women in this country. The results show that women who have 3 or 4 risk factors are more likely to die of any cause, heart disease, or cancer in comparison with women with no risk factors. It is concluded that interventions to help to lower the burden of cardiac risk factors can have an important impact on survivorship among women with cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to estimate the incidence concerning metabolic syndrome (MetS) in a local community with a low socioeconomic status and a medium and high cardiovascular risk on the example of residents of Janów Lubelski district, eastern Poland. The second goal of the research was to analyze the relationship between residence and the occurrence of MetS. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study of 4040 people living in eastern Poland. A group of 3046 people with medium and high cardiovascular risk was selected among the respondents and included in further analyzes. The research adopted the definition criteria proposed by the National Cholesterol Education Program - Third Adult Treatment Panel (NCEP ATP III) to implement diagnostic evaluation of MetS. RESULTS It was observed that metabolic syndrome was significantly more frequent among the inhabitants of rural areas (40.56%; n=810) compared to those living in the city (35.27%; n=370) p=0.005. Among the inhabitants of rural areas, the percentage of people with elevated glucose levels was significantly higher, fasting blood glucose (FGB) p<0.001, elevated blood pressure (HBP) p<0.001, elevated serum triglycerides (TGs) p=0.01, and abnormal waist circumference (WC) p=0.003 compared to urban inhabitants. After adjusting for potential confounding variables (age, education, smoking, marital status, and level of physical activity), in both women and men, the odds of developing metabolic syndrome were approximately 30% higher in rural areas compared to urban residents (women: odds ratio (OR)=1.25, 95% confidence intervals (CI)=1.01-1.56; men: OR=1.30, 95% CI=1.01-1.67). CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS A higher incidence of metabolic syndrome was observed among respondents living in rural areas than those living in cities. Similarly, across the gender strata, metabolic syndrome is more commonly diagnosed among men and women living in rural areas. Healthcare workers, especially in rural areas, should engage in education, prevention, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been related to the pathogenesis of variety categories of cancers. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the association between MetS and the incidence of lung cancer. METHODS Relevant cohort studies were identified by search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane's Library databases. Cochrane's Q test and I2 statistic were used to analyze the heterogeneity. Random-effect model which incorporates the potential heterogeneity was used for the meta-analysis. RESULTS Five cohort studies with 188,970 participants were included. A total of 1,295 lung cancer cases occurred during follow-up. Meta-analyses showed that neither MetS defined by the revised NCEP-ATP III criteria (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.94, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.84 to 1.05, p = 0.25; I2 = 0) nor the IDF criteria (HR: 0.82, 95% CI: 0.61 to 1.11, p = 0.20; I2 = 0) was associated with an affected risk of lung cancer. Subgroup analyses showed consistent results in women and in men, in studies performed in Asian and non-Asian countries, and in prospective and retrospective cohorts (p all > 0.05). Meta-analysis limited to studies with the adjustment of smoking status also showed similar results (HR: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.80 to 1.05, p = 0.21; I2 = 0). No publication bias was detected based on the Egger regression test (p = 0.32). CONCLUSIONS Current evidence from cohort studies does not support that MetS is an independent risk factor for the incidence of lung cancer.

Abstract
Circadian rhythms integrate many physiological pathways, helping organisms to align the timing of various internal processes to daily cycles in the external environment. Disrupted circadian rhythmicity is a prominent feature of modern society, and has been designated as a probable carcinogen. Here, we review multiple studies, in humans and animal models, that suggest a causal effect between circadian disruption and increased risk of cancer. We also discuss the complexity of this connection, which may depend on the cellular context. SIGNIFICANCE: Accumulating evidence points to an adverse effect of circadian disruption on cancer incidence and progression, indicating that time of day could influence the effectiveness of interventions targeting cancer prevention and management.

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is characterized by hyperglycemia, hypertension, dyslipidemia and abdominal obesity. Patients with MetS or other metabolic disorders are more susceptible to cancer development and recurrence and have a worse long-term prognosis. Moreover, the metabolic reprogramming observed in cancer cells has also been described as one of the new hallmarks of cancer. Thus, aberrant metabolism has been proposed as an important risk factor for cancer. Chronic inflammation, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and oncogenic signaling pathways are considered as main potential triggers. Considering the strong association between metabolism and cancer, metabolism-modulating drugs, including metformin and statins, as well as adopting a healthy lifestyle, have been extensively investigated as strategies to combat cancer. Furthermore, strategies that interfere with the metabolic rewiring of cells may also have potent anti-cancer effects. In this article, we provide a comprehensive review of current knowledge on the relationship between aberrant metabolism and cancer and discuss the potential use of metabolism-targeting strategy for the treatment of cancer.

Abstract
Multi-systemic biological risk (MSBR), a proxy for allostatic load, is a composite index of biomarkers representing dysregulation due to responses to chronic stress. This study examined the association of an MSBR index with cancer mortality. The sample included n = 13,628 adults aged 20–90 from the NHANES III Linked Mortality File (1988–1994). The MSBR index included autonomic (pulse rate, blood pressure), metabolic (HOMAir, triglycerides, waist circumference), and immune (white blood cell count, C-reactive protein) markers. We fit Cox proportional hazards models to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) of overall cancer mortality risk, according to quartiles (q) of the index. In multivariable models, compared to those in q1, q4 had a 64% increased risk for cancer mortality (HR = 1.64, 95% CI:1.13–2.40). The immune domain drove the association (HR per unit = 1.19, 95% CI:1.07–1.32). In stratified analyses, the HR for those with a BMI ≥ 25 was 1.12 per unit (95% CI:1.05–1.19) and those with a BMI < 25 was 1.04 per unit (95% CI:0.92–1.18). MSBR is positively associated with risk for cancer mortality in a US sample, particularly among those who are overweight or obese. The utilization of standard clinical measures comprising this index may inform population cancer prevention strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Insulin is fundamental in two conditions that are epidemic in the United States and globally: obesity and type II diabetes. Given insulin's established mechanistic involvement in energy balance and glucose tolerance, we examined its relationship to common health-related endpoints in a large population-based sample. METHODS The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey is a cross-sectional study that uses a complex multistage probability design to obtain a representative sample of the United States population. Adult participants were included from 8 successive 2-year data waves (1999-2014), including 9,224 normal individuals, 7,699 prediabetic, and 3,413 diabetic subjects. The homeostatic model for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was available for 20,336 participants and its relationship with demographic, anthropometric, and clinical data was analyzed. We examined the relationship of HOMA-IR to 8 groups of outcome variables: general health, anthropometric/metabolic [waist size, body mass index (BMI)], cardiovascular (blood pressure), lipid [triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL)], hepatic [alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT)], hematologic [white blood cells (WBC), hemoglobin (Hgb), platelets], inflammatory (C-reactive protein), and nutritional (vitamins D and C, serum folate, and pyridoxine) variables. RESULTS HOMA-IR was generally strongly, monotonically, and highly significantly associated with adjusted outcomes in normal subjects, although clinical laboratory values were generally within normal bounds across insulin quartiles. In the normal subset, the odds ratio and 95% confidence interval for a quartile change in HOMA-IR for obesity (BMI > 30) was 3.62 (3.30-3.97), and for the highest quintile for the triglyceride/HDL the ratio was 2.00 (1.77-2.26), for GGT it was 1.40 (1.24-1.58), and for WBC it was 1.28 (1.16-1.40). The relationship of HOMA-IR to the various outcomes was broadly similar to that observed in prediabetics and diabetics with a few exceptions. CONCLUSIONS HOMA-IR levels in a large sample of normal individuals are associated with poorer general health and adverse changes across a wide range of markers. A similar pattern of alterations is observed in prediabetic and diabetic samples. IMPACT Clinically, checking insulin levels may be helpful to identify patients that merit further observation and are candidates for early interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous data showed that metabolic syndrome (MS) and its components are associated with cancer mortality. However, whether the association varies by race is unclear. To examine the association between metabolic risk factors and cancer death in non-Hispanic whites (whites) and non-Hispanic blacks (blacks) in the US. METHODS We used data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III) [1988-1994], a nationwide survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US. We included a total of 18,001 participants aged ≥20 years in the study. We ascertained cancer death from NHANES III mortality follow-up study, which linked with the National Death Index and provides follow-up from the date of baseline NHANES III [1988-1994] through December 2006. MS was defined as the presence of at least three of five risk factors [i.e., elevated triglycerides (TG) (≥150 mg/dL), impaired fasting blood glucose (≥100 mg/dL), increased waist circumference (≥88 cm for women and ≥102 cm for men), elevated blood pressure (BP) (≥130 mmHg systolic BP or ≥85 mmHg diastolic BP) and, reduced high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (<50 mg/dL)]. The interaction between race and MS and its components against total cancer mortality was first tested. Cox proportional hazards regression was then used to estimate the hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for total cancer mortality in relation to each MS individual component, and a MS composite score in whites and blacks, separately. RESULTS We found a statistically significant interaction between MS and race as well as MS components and race in their effect on cancer death. In adjusted models, elevated BP was significantly associated with a 41% increased risk of total cancer death in blacks (HR 1.41; 95% CI, 1.10-1.80) while in whites, the risk of cancer death increased 29% with central obesity (HR 1.29; 95% CI, 1.05-1.59), 26% with low HDL (HR 1.26; 95% CI, 1.04-1.52), and 45% with impaired fasting glucose (HR 1.45; 95% CI, 1.19-1.76). CONCLUSIONS The relationship between metabolic risk factors and total cancer mortality differed by race in the US. In blacks, high BP was associated with an increased risk for cancer death while in whites, central obesity, low HDL, and especially impaired fasting glucose were positively associated with cancer death.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between biomarkers of inflammation and metabolic dysregulation and cancer mortality by obesity status. METHODS Data from the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) cohort was used to examine the associations between baseline biomarkers of inflammation (IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and CRP) and metabolism (adiponectin, resisting and lipoprotein (a)) with cancer mortality among 1822 participants cancer-free at baseline. Weighted Cox proportional hazard regression with the robust sandwich method was used to estimate the hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) adjusting for baseline covariates and stratified by BMI (normal, overweight/obese) given the significant interaction between biomarkers and BMI (p < 0.1). RESULTS During a mean follow-up of 8 years, there were statistically significant associations between cancer mortality and being in the highest vs. lowest tertile of IL-6 (HR: 5.3; 95% CI: 1.6, 17.8), CRP (HR: 3.4; 95% CI: 1.0, 11.2) and resistin (HR: 3.7; 95% CI: 1.2, 11.2) among participants with normal BMI. IL-6 was also associated with a 3-fold (HR: 3.5; 95% CI: 1.5, 8.1) increased risk of cancer mortality among participants with overweight/obesity; however, neither CRP nor resistin was significantly associated with cancer mortality in this group. CONCLUSIONS Higher baseline inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers were associated with significantly increased risk of cancer mortality after adjusting for baseline risk factors and the associations varied by BMI. Cancer patients may benefit from interventions that modulate inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers.

Abstract
Background Epidemiologic findings on the effect of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its treatment on colorectal cancer (CRC) survival have been inconsistent and have not been previously studied in an Arab population such as the Omani population. Patients and Methods Data from the hospital records of 301 CRC patients treated in Sultan Qaboos University (SQUH), Oman, from 2006 to 2014 were analyzed retrospectively to determine the effects of MetS and its treatment on CRC survival. Overall survival (OS) by MetS status and by medications for MetS components management was compared with Cox proportional models. Results Of the 301 patients, 76 (25.2%) had MetS, 20.3% were on insulin, 23.9% were on metformin, 25.6% took statins, 17.9% were on either angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). Whereas metformin (HR, 0.46, 95% CI, 0.25-0.84) and statins (HR, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.35-0.96) had a protective effect on OS, insulin (HR 1.73, 95% CI, 1.02-2.97) had a detrimental effect. In subgroup analysis of diabetic subjects, a nonsignificant improvement in OS was observed in the metformin treated patients compared to those on other hypoglycemic agents (HR, 0.92, 95% CI, 0.55-1.55). Neither MetS nor antihypertensive drugs had any apparent effect on OS. Conclusions Our result suggests that, among CRC patients with MetS, taking metformin and statins may improve overall survival, whereas being on insulin may negatively impact CRC prognosis. Further studies are warranted to determine the exact mechanism through which metformin, statins, and insulin exert their effects on CRC survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Muscle weakness is followed by insulin resistance which is associated with metabolic disorders leading to metabolic syndrome (MetS). Therefore, muscle strength decline may be associated with MetS. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between muscle strength and MetS and its separate components. METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed in 17,703 participants aged 40 years and older living in Tianjin, China. Handgrip strength was measured using a handheld digital dynamometer. MetS was defined in accordance with the criteria of the American Heart Association scientific statements of 2009. Multiple logistic regression analyses were used to assess the association between handgrip strength and MetS and its separate components. RESULTS The overall prevalence of MetS was 33.6%. The prevalence of MetS was significantly higher in men than in women (41.6% vs 22.9%, P < 0.0001). After adjustment for potential confounding factors (including sociodemographic variables, lifestyle factors, total energy intake, and family history of disease), the odds ratios (95% confidence interval) of MetS across decreasing handgrip strength quartiles were: 1.00 (reference), 1.87 (1.66, 2.11), 2.40 (2.13, 2.71), and 3.36 (2.97, 3.80) in men and 1.00 (reference), 1.80 (1.48, 2.21), 2.77 (2.29, 3.36), and 3.89 (3.22, 4.71) in women, respectively (P for all trend <0.0001). Similarly, handgrip strength was also observed to be negatively associated with separate components of MetS both in men and women. CONCLUSIONS Muscle strength is inversely associated with MetS and its separate components. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm this issue.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cancer are major public health problems worldwide. The relationship between MetS and cancer death is of great interest. We examined the predictive value of MetS for cancer mortality in Japan. METHODS Study participants included 4495 men and 7028 women aged 18-90 years who were registered between 1992 and 1995 as part of the Jichi Medical School Cohort Study. We used a definition of MetS modified for the Japanese population. The primary outcome was cancer mortality. Additionally, the relationship between MetS and cancer-type specific mortality was examined. Analyses were conducted with Cox's regression models adjusted for age, smoking status, alcohol drinking status, marital status, educational attainment, physical activity, occupational category, and menopausal status (only in women). RESULTS During a mean follow-up of 18.5 years, 473 men and 297 women died from cancer. MetS was positively associated with cancer mortality in women (hazard ratio [HR], 1.69; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.21-2.36), but not in men (HR, 1.21; 95% CI 0.90-1.62). Additionally, MetS was associated with a high risk of colorectal (HR, 3.48; 95% CI 1.68-7.22) and breast (HR, 11.90; 95% CI 2.25-62.84) cancer deaths in women. CONCLUSION MetS was a significant predictor of cancer mortality in women.

Abstract
Background The aim of this study was to assess the possible relationship between sitting time and physical activity and the risk of occurrence of metabolic syndrome and its components. Analyses were conducted in the whole sample, and with stratification according to BMI. We have formulated a hypothesis that individuals with different BMIs have different responses to metabolic health modifiers such as physical activity and sitting time. Material/Methods Altogether, the data from 10 367 participants from urban and rural areas, aged 37–66 years were used in the study (7479 of whom were overweight or obese). The definition of metabolic syndrome devised by the IDF Joint Interim Statement criteria using an ethnic-specific cut-off point for waist circumference as the central obesity criterion was used. Results In all analyzed BMI groups, longer sitting time was only associated with abdominal obesity (all p for trend <0.05). In participants declaring low physical activity levels, the risk of metabolic syndrome and abnormal triglycerides concentration was higher compared to those declaring high physical activity, regardless of BMI (all p for trend <0.05). In the group with overweight or obesity, low physical activity was associated with a higher risk of abdominal obesity (p for trend <0.05), increased glucose concentration (p for trend <0.05), and elevated blood pressure (p for trend <0.05). In participants with a normal BMI, these associations did not occur. Conclusions Our data suggest that physical activity helps preventive metabolic syndrome and its abnormal components, especially in participants who are overweight or obese.

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cancer share many modifiable risk factors including age, genetic factors, obesity, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, alcohol, smoking, endocrine disruptors exposure, circadian clock disturbances, and air pollution. MetS is closely linked to cancer, as it increases cancer risk and cancer-related mortality; moreover, cancer survivors have an increased risk of MetS. Elucidating the mechanisms linking MetS to cancer is important to prevent or delay these two conditions. Possible mechanisms explaining the relationship between MetS and cancer include hyperinsulinemia and alterations of insulin-like growth factor system, chronic subclinical inflammation, abnormalities in sex hormones metabolism and adipokines, hyperglicemia, alterations in both gene expression and hormonal profile by endocrine disruptors and air pollution, desynchronization of circadian clock. The common soil hypothesis claims that MetS may be considered a surrogate marker for dietary risk factors of cancer, and a warning sign for susceptible individuals exposed to an unhealthy diet. The common soil hypothesis and the clepsydra of foods represent a theoretical substrate to preventive intervention strategies against the pandemics of MetS and cancer: adherence to healthy dietary patterns is associated with a reduced risk of MetS, and improvement of the quality of diet is consistently associated with a reduction in cancer-related mortality.

Abstract
The ability to efficiently adapt metabolism by substrate sensing, trafficking, storage, and utilization, dependent on availability and requirement, is known as metabolic flexibility. In this review, we discuss the breadth and depth of metabolic flexibility and its impact on health and disease. Metabolic flexibility is essential to maintain energy homeostasis in times of either caloric excess or caloric restriction, and in times of either low or high energy demand, such as during exercise. The liver, adipose tissue, and muscle govern systemic metabolic flexibility and manage nutrient sensing, uptake, transport, storage, and expenditure by communication via endocrine cues. At a molecular level, metabolic flexibility relies on the configuration of metabolic pathways, which are regulated by key metabolic enzymes and transcription factors, many of which interact closely with the mitochondria. Disrupted metabolic flexibility, or metabolic inflexibility, however, is associated with many pathological conditions including metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and cancer. Multiple factors such as dietary composition and feeding frequency, exercise training, and use of pharmacological compounds, influence metabolic flexibility and will be discussed here. Last, we outline important advances in metabolic flexibility research and discuss medical horizons and translational aspects.

Abstract
Although metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a prognostic factor for cancer occurrence, the association of MetS and cancer mortality remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether MetS, components of MetS and C-reactive protein (CRP) are associated with cancer mortality in women. A total of 400 cancer deaths, with 140 deaths from obesity-linked-cancers (OLCas), [breast (BCa), colorectal, pancreatic and endometrial], linked through the National Death Index, were identified from 10,104 eligible subjects aged ≥18 years. Cox proportional hazards regression was used to estimate multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios (HR) for cancer mortality. MetS was associated with increased deaths for total cancer [HR = 1.33, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.04-1.70] and BCa [HR = 2.1, 95% CI, 1.09-4.11]. The risk of total cancer [HR = 1.7, 95% CI, 1.12-2.68], OLCas [HR = 2.1, 95% CI, 1.00-4.37] and BCa [HR = 3.8, 95% CI, 1.34-10.91] mortality was highest for women with all MetS components abnormal, compared to those without MetS. Linear associations of blood-pressure [HR = 2.5, 1.02-6.12, Quartile (Q) 4 vs Q1, p trend = 0.004] and blood-glucose [HR = 2.2, 1.04-4.60, Q4 vs. Q1, p trend = 0.04] with total-OLCas mortality were observed. A threefold increased risk of BCa mortality was observed for women with enlarged waist circumference, ≥100.9 cm, [HR = 3.5, 1.14-10.51, p trend = 0.008] and in those with increased blood glucose, ≥101 mg/dL, [HR = 3.2, 1.11-9.20, p trend = 0.03] compared to those in Q1. None of the components of MetS were associated with total-cancer mortality. CRP was not associated with cancer mortality. In conclusion, MetS is associated with total-cancer and breast-cancer mortality, with waist circumference, blood pressure and blood glucose as independent predictors of OLCas and BCa mortality.

Abstract
In several populations the associations between diet and the risk of metabolic syndrome have not been fully examined yet. The aim of the study is to identify the main dietary patterns among Polish adults and the evaluation of the relationships of these patterns with metabolic syndrome and its components. The study was conducted on a group of 7997 participants, aged between 37 and 66 years old. Dietary patterns were identified by factor analysis. Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation. Three dietary patterns were identified and designated as: "Healthy", "Westernized" and "Traditional-carbohydrate". In the adjusted model, a higher score in the "Westernized" pattern aligns with a higher risk of abnormal glucose concentration (ptrend = 0.000), but with a lower risk of abnormal High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol HDL-cholesterol concentration (ptrend = 0.024). Higher scores in the "Traditional-carbohydrate" pattern were connected with the risk of abdominal obesity (ptrend = 0.001) and increased triglycerides concentration (ptrend = 0.050). Our results suggest that adherence to the "Traditional-carbohydrate" dietary pattern, characterized by higher intakes of refined grains, potatoes, sugar and sweets is associated with a higher risk of abdominal obesity and triglyceridemia. A "Westernized" dietary pattern on the other hand, is related to hyperglycemia. The study results can be used for community-based health promotion and intervention programs to prevent or better manage chronic diseases.

Abstract
PURPOSE We assessed the association of blood mercury concentration with metabolic and weight phenotypes. METHODS Blood mercury concentration, metabolic syndrome components, and body mass index (BMI) were measured in 6006 Korean adults (2963 men, 3043 women, mean age 44.7 ± 14.7 years), using the 2011-2013 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data. Metabolic and weight phenotypes were classified based on BMI and metabolic syndrome (MetS) presence as metabolically healthy and normal weight (MHNW), metabolically unhealthy and normal weight (MUNW), metabolically healthy and obese (MHO), and metabolically unhealthy and obese (MUO). RESULTS The geometric mean of blood mercury concentration was 3.37 μg/L (95% CI 3.32-3.43). A higher quartile of blood mercury concentration was associated with older age, male sex, higher education, alcohol use, current smoking, low physical activity, greater energy intake, and hypertension history. After adjusting for confounding factors (age, sex, education, income, health behaviors, and energy intake), blood mercury concentration tended to increase across the MHNW, MUNW, MHO, and MUO groups in all subjects and each sex (P for trend < 0.01). Compared to the lowest mercury quartile group, adjusted odds ratios (95% CI) for MHO and MUO in those with the highest mercury quartile were, respectively, 1.67 (1.34, 2.09) and 2.02 (1.59, 2.56) in all subjects: 1.58 (1.25, 1.99) and 1.72 (1.37, 2.16) for men; 1.33 (0.94, 1.88) and 1.90 (1.34, 2.70) for women. CONCLUSIONS Blood mercury concentration was associated with both metabolic syndrome and obesity, and the association was dose dependent across metabolic and weight phenotypes.
