Abstract
Insulin resistance (IR) can be optimally assessed using the euglycemic clamp, but practical clinical limitations necessitate surrogate markers. This study leveraged the Bayesian network analysis to evaluate three established IR markers: the Homeostatic Model Assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) using insulin level and fasting blood glucose (FBG), TG-Glucose (TyG) index using triglycerides (TG) and FBG, and TG-to-HDL ratio (TG/HDL ratio) using TG and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), based on the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data (2019-2021). Our analysis revealed a sequential association pattern (TG/HDL ratio → TyG index → HOMA-IR), positioning the TyG index as a central connecting marker. The HOMA-IR exhibited strong predictive power for diabetes, while the TG/HDL ratio was most effective for assessing dyslipidemia. However, both had limited crossover utility. In contrast, the TyG index bridged this gap, demonstrating robust predictive capability for both conditions. The Markov blanket analysis illuminated the distinctive metabolic signatures of each marker: The TyG index displayed balanced glucose-lipid metabolic contributions, the HOMA-IR predominantly reflected glucose metabolism and obesity characteristics, and the TG/HDL ratio emphasized lipid metabolism. Notably, the TyG index's predictive performance showed significant enhancement when integrated with obesity information, contrasting with the HOMA-IR's minimal response owing to its inherent incorporation of obesity characteristics. These findings position the TyG index as a superior clinical marker, offering both comprehensive predictive capability and enhanced performance through synergistic integration with obesity measures. While each marker demonstrated reliability, the TyG index's unique combination of versatility and scalability establishes it as an effective tool for comprehensive metabolic risk assessment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a crucial human health challenge. Previous studies have shown an association between CVD and the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), and metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR). However, a comparison of these novel markers for predicting CVD is not well known. Therefore, we aimed to assess the value of TyG, AIP, and METS-IR in predicting the incidence of CVD in three large cohorts of Korean adults. METHODS Data from 28 437 participants in the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) and Korea Health Insurance Review and Assessment (HERAS-HIRA) were assessed. The participants were divided into four groups according to the quartiles of TyG index: ln ([triglyceride × fasting plasma glucose]/2), AIP calculated as log (triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol), and METS-IR index: (ln ([2 × fasting plasma glucose] + triglyceride) × body mass index)/(ln [high-density lipoprotein cholesterol-cholesterol]). We prospectively assessed the hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for CVD using multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models after adjusting for potential confounding variables. RESULTS During the follow-up period, 987 participants (3.5%) developed CVD. Compared with the referent first quartiles, the highest TyG index, AIP, and METS-IR quartiles, with HRs of 1.73 (95% CI 1.41-2.12), 1.47 (95% CI 1.19-1.80), and 2.61 (95% CI 1.83-3.72), respectively, significantly predicted future CVD, after adjusting for age, sex, and body mass index. When comparing the three biomarkers for insulin resistance, the TyG index and METS-IR showed similar predictive values, whereas AIP had a lower significance in predicting CVD. CONCLUSIONS Based on the current findings, novel surrogate markers of insulin resistance, particularly METS-IR and TyG index, may help predict the risk of CVD in Koreans.

Abstract
Limited research has explored the effectiveness of insulin resistance (IR) in forecasting metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk, especially within the Iranian population afflicted with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The present investigation aimed to assess the efficacy of IR indices in predicting the risk of MetS among T2DM patients. Convenient sampling was utilized to select four hundred subjects with T2DM. Metabolic factors and IR indices, including the Waist Circumference-Triglyceride Index (WTI), Triglyceride and Glucose Index (TyG index), the product of TyG index and abdominal obesity indices, and the Metabolic Score for Insulin Resistance (METS-IR), were evaluated. Logistic regression, coupled with modeling, was employed to explore the risk of MetS. The predictive performance of the indices for MetS stratified by sex was evaluated via receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and estimation of the area under the curve (AUC) values. The TyG-Waist Circumference (TyG-WC) index exhibited the largest AUCs in both males (0.91) and females (0.93), while the TyG-Body Mass Index (TyG-BMI) demonstrated the smallest AUCs (0.77 in males and 0.74 in females). All indices significantly predicted the risk of MetS in all subjects before and after adjustment (p < 0.001 for all). The TyG-WC index demonstrated the highest odds ratios for MetS (8.06, 95% CI 5.41-12.00). In conclusion, all IR indices assessed in this study effectively predicted the risk of MetS among Iranian patients with T2DM, with the TyG-WC index emerging as the most robust predictor across both genders.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The triglyceride-to-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL) ratio is associated with insulin resistance related diseases, including metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, specific TG/HDL values that can predict MetS have not been well identified. In this study, we analyzed both cross-sectional and longitudinal data from two national Korean datasets to obtain TG/HDL cut-off values that can identify MetS and predict its occurrence. METHODS AND RESULTS To distinguish the presence and occurrence of MetS, the cut-off values were determined using the maximum F-score calculated through a logistic regression analysis. To predict new-onset MetS within 10 years, Cox proportional hazard models were used to consider the time of occurrence. The TG/HDL cut-off values of 3.97, 3.24, and 3.24 were optimal for identifying current MetS and predicting new-onset MetS within 10 years and five years, respectively, in Korean men. In Korean women, the optimal values for each task were 3.18, 2.38, and 2.26, respectively. CONCLUSIONS We suggest the TG/HDL ratio as a potential candidate predictor for MetS. Therefore, we anticipate that future studies will apply individual lipid levels as well as their combinatory values to establish models that predict the prevalence and occurrence of MetS, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The concept of metabolically obese, normal weight (MONW) has emerged to describe individuals with a normal body mass index (BMI) who are at a relatively high risk of chronic diseases. However, BMI itself is a suboptimal index for the assessment of the health risks associated with visceral fat. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is considered to be a reliable and cost-effective marker of insulin resistance. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to determine the TyG index cut-off values that could be used to define MONW in older people and to determine the usefulness of these values for the prediction of chronic diseases. METHODS A total of 4,721 participants in the Korea National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey who were ≥ 60 years of age and did not have underweight or obesity were included. MONW was defined using the criteria for metabolic syndrome (MS), and the TyG index was calculated on the basis of the fasting plasma triglyceride and glucose concentrations. Chronic diseases, including T2DM, hypertension, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), were diagnosed. RESULTS The prevalence of MS increased from the lowest to the highest TyG index tertile. The cut-off values of the TyG index for MONW were calculated as 8.88 and 8.80 for males and females, respectively. MONW, defined using these cut-off values, was associated with high odds ratios for NAFLD, T2DM, and hypertension in both males and females. CONCLUSIONS The TyG index cut-off values calculated in the present study can be used to discriminate individuals with MONW from other older individuals without obesity and to predict the risk of chronic diseases. These findings show that the TyG index is an effective and cost-efficient method of assessing the risk of chronic diseases in people with MONW.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Triglyceride glucose (TyG) represents a consistent surrogate biomarker and index of insulin resistance (IR), IR has also been linked to skeletal muscle mass loss (SMM-L). Here, we evaluated the association between SMM-L and the TyG index (TyGi). DESIGN An analytical cross-sectional study. SETTING Tertiary care hospitals. PARTICIPANTS 36 275 participants who underwent health checks between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2020. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES A bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to assess the body composition, SMM-L was defined as low ASMI (total limb lean mass/height2) and TyGi was calculated as ln(triglycerides (mg/dL)×fasting blood glucose (mg/dL)/2). RESULTS A total of 36 275 subjects were included in the study, of which 58.46% were male, with a mean age of 43.74±12.33 years. The prevalence of low skeletal muscle mass (SMM) was 17.7% and the mean TyGi was 8.56±0.64. TyGi was found to be significantly correlated with low SMM in all subjects (OR 1.87, 95% CI 1.75 to 2.00, p<0.001), with higher correlations seen in younger subjects (OR 1.97, 95% CI 1.77 to 2.20, p<0.001), and remaining significant in middle age (OR 1.95, 95% CI 1.77 to 2.14, p<0.001), old age (OR 1.73, 95% CI 1.38 to 1.16, p<0.001), men (OR 1.60, 95% CI 1.46 to 1.76, p<0.001) and women (OR 2.59, 95% CI 2.39 to 2.87, p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS These data demonstrated a significant independent interaction between TyGi and low SMM in all subjects regardless of sex and age subgroups in the general population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Insulin resistance (IR) negatively affects several risk factors of chronic kidney disease (CKD). This cross-sectional study investigated whether the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, which reflects IR, was independently associated with CKD in a geriatric population, regardless of obesity and sex. METHODS The analysis included 7,326 individuals (2,864 males and 4,462 females) aged ≥60 years. Non-obesity or obesity was evaluated using a body mass index cutoff of 25 kg/m2. The TyG index was calculated as ln [triglyceride concentration (mg/dL)×fasting plasma glucose concentration (mg/dL)]/2. All participants were categorized into three groups according to TyG tertiles. Moderate-to-severe CKD (MSCKD) was defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of <45.0 mL/min/1.73 m2. RESULTS In males and females with or without obesity, a trend test showed a decreasing tendency in the eGFR from the lowest to highest TyG tertiles. Males without obesity and females with obesity in the middle and highest tertiles of the TyG index were 2.342 and 2.393, and were 2.313 and 3.516 times more likely to have MSCKD, respectively. Those with or without obesity in the highest tertile of the TyG index were 1.736 and 2.374 times more likely to have MSCKD, respectively. CONCLUSION Geriatric populations with an increased TyG index have a high risk of MSCKD regardless of obesity and sex. Our findings suggest that increased IR is associated with CKD in the geriatric population independent of obesity and sex.

Abstract
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease, reaching epidemic proportions worldwide. Targeting the gut-adipose tissue-liver axis by modulating the gut microbiota can be a promising therapeutic approach in NAFLD. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, a potent lactic-acid-producing bacterium, has been shown to attenuate NAFLD. However, to our knowledge, the possible effect of the Lactiplantibacillus plantarum strain DSM20174 (L.p. DSM20174) on the gut-adipose tissue axis, diminishing inflammatory mediators as fuel for NAFLD progression, is still unknown. Using a NAFLD mouse model fed a high-fat, high-fructose (HFHF) diet for 10 weeks, we show that L.p DSM20174 supplementation of HFHF mice prevented weight gain, improved glucose and lipid homeostasis, and reduced white adipose inflammation and NAFLD progression. Furthermore, 16S rRNA gene sequencing of the faecal microbiota suggested that treatment of HFHF-fed mice with L.p DSM20174 changed the diversity and altered specific bacterial taxa at the levels of family, genus, and species in the gut microbiota. In conclusion, the beneficial effects of L.p DSM20174 in preventing fatty liver progression may be related to modulations in the composition and potential function of gut microbiota associated with lower metabolic risk factors and a reduced M1-like/M2-like ratio of macrophages and proinflammatory cytokine expression in white adipose tissue and liver.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The aim of this study was to evaluate the glycemic parameters, lipid profiles, uric acid levels, and triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index of individuals who consume different amounts of fructose. Additionally, the relationship between the TyG index and the homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) values was investigated. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on healthy adults aged between 18 and 55 who applied to a university hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. Demographic characteristics and food consumption were recorded using the face-to-face interview method. Participants were divided into two groups according to their fructose consumption (≤50 g/day: moderate; >50 g/day: high). The glycemic parameters, lipid profiles, and uric acid levels were measured and TyG index was calculated. RESULTS Fructose consumption of >50 g/day was reported by 25% of the participants. There was no relationship between lipid profile, uric acid, and fructose consumption. The fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, and TyG index values in the moderate fructose consumption group were significantly lower than those for the high fructose consumption group (P < 0.05). The TyG index was associated with fructose consumption and HOMA-IR (P < 0.05). High fructose consumers exhibited FBG and HOMA-IR levels 1.18 (95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 1.01-1.37) and 1.42 (95% CI = 1.09-1.84) times higher than those for the moderate fructose consumers (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The results of this study confirmed that high fructose consumption negatively affects glycemic status in healthy adults. Additionally, this study revealed that there is a significant association between daily fructose consumption and TyG index.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Insulin resistance (IR) is an important contributor to the development of hypertension (HTN), and the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been proposed as a simple, reliable marker of IR. This study investigated the association between the TyG index and blood pressure (BP) elevation in a large general population. METHODS The study enrolled 15,721 adults with no history of cardiometabolic diseases from the 2016-2019 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Participants were classified into quartiles based on the TyG index and BP was categorized as normal BP, elevated BP, pre-HTN, and HTN. The associations of the TyG index with BP categories were assessed using multivariate multinomial logistic regression models with normal BP as the reference group. RESULTS The mean systolic/diastolic BP and prevalence of HTN increased with the TyG index (P for trend < 0.001). The continuous TyG index had a strong dose-response relationship with increased odds of elevated BP, pre-HTN, and HTN. Compared with the lowest TyG index quartile, the highest TyG index quartile was significantly associated with higher odds of having elevated BP (odds ratio [OR], 1.52; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.24-1.87; P for trend < 0.001), pre-HTN (OR, 2.22; 95% CI, 1.95-2.53; P for trend < 0.001), and HTN (OR, 4.24; 95% CI, 3.49-5.16; P for trend < 0.001). CONCLUSION We found that a higher TyG index was positively associated with the risk of increased BP in normal healthy individuals. This study suggests that the TyG index might serve as a potential predictor of HTN. However, further studies with larger sample sizes and various target populations in longitudinal designs are needed.

Abstract
There is no study exploring the association between triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and skeletal muscle mass in Chinese adolescents. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore the association between TyG index and appendicular lean mass (ALM) in Chinese adolescents. In this study, 1336 adolescents (805 boys, 60.25%) aged 12-18 years in China were randomly selected through a stratified cluster sampling. According to the tertiles of TyG index, we separated all participants into three groups, and LM was measured by Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. The TyG index was negatively related to ALM/weight in Chinese adolescents whether stratified by gender (boys: β = - 0.293; girls: β = - 0.195; all P < 0.001). After adjusting for age and BMI, a significant correlation between the TyG index and ALM/weight was observed only in boys (β = - 0.169, P = 0.001). The highest TyG index tertile was significantly associated with low ALM/weight after adjusting for all covariates in the full sample (OR = 3.04, 95% CI 1.12-8.26, P = 0.029) and boys (OR = 4.68, 95% CI 1.22-17.95, P = 0.025) only in overweight/obese group. Our findings suggested elevated levels of TyG index may be a risk factor of low ALM/weight in Chinese adolescents, especially in boys.

Abstract
CONTEXT Insulin resistance is a determinant of diabetes. With the increasing popularity of electronic smoking, the number of dual smokers (smoking both cigarettes and electronic cigarettes [e-cigarettes]) is increasing. However, few studies have assessed the association between insulin resistance and smoking behavior, including dual smoking. OBJECTIVE This work aims to investigate the association between smoking behaviors and insulin resistance. METHODS This prospective, cross-sectional study took place among the general community. A total of 11 653 participants (4721 male and 6932 female) aged 19 years or older from the 2016 to 2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were divided based on their smoking behaviors: dual smokers (both cigarettes and e-cigarettes), single smokers (cigarette smokers), previous smokers, and nonsmokers. Insulin resistance was determined based on the triglyceride-glucose index. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the association between smoking behavior and insulin resistance. RESULTS Among the participants, 205 males (3.9%) and 40 females (0.5%) were dual smokers, and 1581 males (29.9%) and 350 females (4.5%) were single smokers. Male and female smokers (dual and single) both had higher odds of being in a group with higher insulin resistance than nonsmokers (male, dual: OR = 2.19; 95% CI, 1.39-3.44; single: OR = 1.78; 95% CI, 1.43-2.22; female, dual: OR = 2.32; 95% CI, 1.01-5.34; single: OR = 1.76; 95% CI, 1.28-2.42). CONCLUSION This study suggests that single and dual smoking both may increase the risk of insulin resistance in the general population. Education on the adverse effects of smoking behaviors may be an important strategy to improve the health of the population.

Abstract
The rate of undiagnosed type 2 diabetes tends to increase in lean Koreans, while the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index has been proposed as a surrogate marker of peripheral insulin resistance. We investigated the longitudinal relationship between TyG and incident type 2 diabetes among apparently healthy Korean adults. We assessed 4285 lean adults without diabetes aged 40-69 years from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. Participants were divided into 4 groups according to quartiles of TyG index, calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. We prospectively assessed the hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident type 2 diabetes, based on the American Diabetes Association criteria, using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models, over 12 years after the baseline survey. During the follow-up period, 631 (14.7%) participants had newly developed type 2 diabetes. The HRs of incident type 2 diabetes in each TyG index quartile were 1.00, 1.63 (95%CI, 1.18-2.24), 2.30 (95%CI, 1.68-3.14), and 3.67 (95%CI, 2.71-4.98), respectively, after adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking status, alcohol intake, and physical activity. Higher TyG index precedes and significantly predicts type 2 diabetes among community-dwelling middle aged and elderly lean Koreans.

Abstract
The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a simple surrogate marker of insulin resistance. We evaluated the association of the TyG index with low muscle mass using a nationwide population-based representative data. This is a cross-sectional study that included 9477 participants aged ≥ 40 years from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2008 and 2011. The TyG index was calculated as ln[triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was used to measure appendicular lean mass (ALM). Low muscle mass was defined an ALM/weight of 2 standard deviations (SD) below of young participants. The overall prevalence of low muscle mass was 4.7%. The prevalence of low muscle mass increased linearly with the quartiles of the TyG index, 2.5%, 4.2%, 5.6%, and 6.7% in Q1–Q4, respectively. The TyG index was negatively associated with ALM/weight both in men (r = − 0.302) and women (r = − 0.230). The odds ratio (OR) for low muscle mass was 2.08 in the highest quartile compared to the lowest quartile. High TyG index was associated with an increased risk of low muscle mass (OR for 1SD increase: 1.13). Increased TyG index was associated with the risk of low muscle mass independent of confounding factors.

Abstract
AIMS Pre-pregnancy insulin resistance is one of the main pathophysiologies of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a marker of insulin resistance. We aimed to evaluate the association between pre-pregnancy TyG index and GDM in primipara women. METHODS A total of 380,208 women who underwent a Korean national health screening exam within 2 years before their first delivery, between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2015, were included. The TyG index was calculated as ln [triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. RESULTS Among the 380,208 primipara women, 17,239 women were diagnosed with GDM (4.53%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis adjusted for risk factors showed a higher odds ratio of 1.73 for GDM (95% CI 1.65-1.81) in the highest quartile than that in the lowest quartile. A 1-SD increase in the TyG index increased the risk of GDM (31%) and GDM requiring insulin therapy (82%) in the fully adjusted model. A 1-unit increase in the TyG index significantly increased the risk of GDM and GDM requiring insulin treatment by 1.81 and 3.69 times, respectively.The impact of a high TyG index on the risk of GDM was more profound in the subjects aged ≥ 35 years, with obesity, with impaired fasting glucose, who are current smokers, and with a family history of diabetes mellitus. CONCLUSIONS Increased pre-pregnancy TyG index is associated with a risk of GDM. Elevation of the TyG index may be an early marker of GDM.

Abstract
Background Ischemic heart disease (IHD) without diabetes is considered an important challenge to human health and is associated with a poor prognosis, as well as a lack of health awareness. We prospectively investigated the relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a surrogate marker of early insulin resistance, and incident IHD risk in a large cohort of nondiabetic Korean adults using National Health Insurance Service data. Methods
We assessed 16,455 participants (8426 men and 8029 women) without diabetes using data from a health risk assessment study (HERAS) and Korea Health Insurance Review and Assessment (HIRA) data. The participants were divided into four groups according to TyG index quartiles, calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. We prospectively assessed hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for IHD using multivariate Cox proportional-hazards regression models over a 50-month period that followed the baseline survey. Results During the follow-up period, 322 (2.0%) participants developed IHD. HRs of IHD for TyG index quartiles 2–4 were 1.61 (95% CI 1.05–2.48), 1.85 (95% CI 1.21–2.81), and 2.29 (95% CI 1.50–3.51), respectively, after adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, smoking status, alcohol intake, and physical activity. Conclusions A higher TyG index precedes and significantly predicts future IHD among nondiabetic Koreans. Accordingly, the TyG index may be a useful measure in assessing cardiovascular risk for nondiabetic adults in the preclinical stage.

Abstract
Background Since sarcopenia is an important risk factor for falls or cardiovascular disease, early detection and prevention of sarcopenia are being increasingly emphasized. Emerging evidence has indicated relationships between sarcopenia, insulin resistance, and inflammation. The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, a novel surrogate marker of insulin resistance and systemic inflammation, has not yet been shown to be associated with sarcopenia. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the TyG index and muscle mass in Korean adults. Methods This study included 15,741 non-diabetic adults over 19 years old using data from the 2008–2011 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Participants were divided into three groups according to tertiles of the TyG index. A low skeletal muscle mass index (LSMI) was defined by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health Sarcopenia Project criteria. A weighted multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze relationships between TyG index tertiles and LSMI. Results The ORs (95% CIs) for LSMI in the second and third TyG tertiles, compared to the first tertile, were 1.463 (1.131–1.892) and 1.816 (1.394–2.366), respectively, after adjusting for confounding factors. Higher TyG index values were also associated with increased odds of LSMI in adults under 65 years who did not exercise regularly, who consumed less than 30 g of alcohol per day, who did not currently smoke, and who ate less than 1.5 g of protein/kg/day. Conclusion The TyG index was significantly and positively associated with LSMI in Korean adults. Abstract
The high prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (CVD) determines the need for early detection and correction of key markers of cardio-metabolic risk (CMR). This prophylactic direction is closely related to metabolic syndrome (MS) based on the concept of insulin resistance (IR). At the same time, IR is the first link in the pathogenesis of T2DM and is a recognized risk factor for atherothrombosis. Therefore, early diagnosis of IR is of practical importance both for the detection of early disorders of carbohydrate metabolism (DCM) and prognosis of T2DM, and cardiological risk. Alternative indicators have been proposed for evaluating IR with the inclusion of lipid and anthropometric parameters, the diagnostic and prognostic significance of which in terms of CMR (DCM and CVD) has been evaluated in randomized clinical trials in comparison with the HOMA-IR index and clamp. The TyG index (calculated on the basis of plasma glucose and triglycerides) is consistent with the phenomenon of glucolipotoxicity with subsequent metabolic disorders in target organs. Its derivatives are proposed: TyG-WC (TyG / waist circumference) and TYG-BMI (TyG / BMI). Apply LAP indices (lipid accumulation index) and VAI (visceral obesity index), as well as TG / HDL (TG / HDL). Their ethnic and gender differences were revealed, attempts were made to calculate the cut-off points for these indices.
