Analysis of the sodium pump subunit ATP1A3 in glioma patients: Potential value in prognostic prediction and immunotherapy

The ATP1A3 gene is associated with the development and progression of neurological diseases. However, the pathological function and therapeutic value of ATP1A3 in glioblastoma (GBM) remains unknown. In this study, we tried to explore the correlation between the ATP1A3 gene expression and immune features in GBM samples. We found that ATP1A3 gene expression levels showed significant negative correlation with immune checkpoints such as PD-L1, CTLA-4 and IDO1. Next, ATP1A3 gene expression levels showed significant negative correlation with the anti-cancer immune cell process, the immune score and stromal score. By grouping ATP1A3 expression levels, we found that that immunomodulator-related genes and tumor-associated immune cell effector gene expression levels were associated with lower ATP1A3 expression. In addition, immunotherapy prediction pathway activity and a majority of the anti-cancer immune cell process activity levels were also showed to be correlated with lower ATP1A3 gene expression. Further, nine prognostic factors were identified by prognostic analysis, and a GBM prognostic model (risk score) was established. We applied the model to the TCGA GBM training set sample and the GSE4412 validation set sample and found that patients in the high risk score subgroup had significantly shorter survival time, demonstrating the prognostic value and prognostic efficacy of the risk score. Furthermore, ATP1A3 overexpression has also been found to sensitize cancer cells to anti-PD-1 therapy. In conclusion, we showed that ATP1A3 is a highly promising treatment target in GBM and the risk score is an independent prognostic factor for cancer and can be used to help guide the prediction of survival time in patients with GBM.

Mondrian Map: Piet Mondrian's Abstraction for Differential Pathway Analysis

Motivation

Visualizing complex biological networks is a significant challenge, as traditional tools often struggle to represent data clearly and intuitively. Drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian's abstract art style, we introduce Mondrian Map, a novel visualization tool that transforms the complexity of biological networks into a more organized, meaningful, and aesthetically appealing form.

Results

In our case study of glioma progression, Mondrian Map reveals distinct pathway patterns across multiple patient profiles at different time points. Afterwards, the significance of these distinctive pathways in glioblastoma multiforme development is validated by recent literature. Mondrian Map's visually intuitive representation of complex biological networks enables researchers to easily identify crucial pathways and potential therapeutic targets. Moreover, The potential applications of Mondrian Map extend beyond biology, making it a versatile tool across domains.

The code was implemented in Python version 3.10 and is available through GitHub (github.com/fuad021/mondrian-map). The datasets used in this paper were retrieved from Glioma Longitudinal AnalySiS (GLASS) consortium.

Antitumoral Activity of the Universal Methyl Donor S-Adenosylmethionine in Glioblastoma Cells

Glioblastoma (GBM), the most frequent and lethal brain cancer in adults, is characterized by short survival times and high mortality rates. Due to the resistance of GBM cells to conventional therapeutic treatments, scientific interest is focusing on the search for alternative and efficient adjuvant treatments. S-Adenosylmethionine (AdoMet), the well-studied physiological methyl donor, has emerged as a promising anticancer compound and a modulator of multiple cancer-related signaling pathways. We report here for the first time that AdoMet selectively inhibited the viability and proliferation of U87MG, U343MG, and U251MG GBM cells. In these cell lines, AdoMet induced S and G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis and downregulated the expression and activation of proteins involved in homologous recombination DNA repair, including RAD51, BRCA1, and Chk1. Furthermore, AdoMet was able to maintain DNA in a damaged state, as indicated by the increased γH2AX/H2AX ratio. AdoMet promoted mitotic catastrophe through inhibiting Aurora B kinase expression, phosphorylation, and localization causing GBM cells to undergo mitotic catastrophe-induced death. Finally, AdoMet inhibited DNA repair and induced cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and mitotic catastrophe in patient-derived GBM cells. In light of these results, AdoMet could be considered a potential adjuvant in GBM therapy.

Dioxinodehydroeckol: A Potential Neuroprotective Marine Compound Identified by In Silico Screening for the Treatment and Management of Multiple Brain Disorders

Neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Parkinson's disease (PD) are some of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders in humans. Even after a variety of advanced therapies, prognosis of all these disorders is not favorable, with survival rates of 14-20 months only. To further improve the prognosis of these disorders, it is imperative to discover new compounds which will target effector proteins involved in these disorders. In this study, we have focused on in silico screening of marine compounds against multiple target proteins involved in AD, GBM, ALS, and PD. Fifty marine-origin compounds were selected from literature, out of which, thirty compounds passed ADMET parameters. Ligand docking was performed after ADMET analysis for AD, GBM, ALS, and PD-associated proteins in which four protein targets Keap1, Ephrin A2, JAK3 Kinase domain, and METTL3-METTL14 N6-methyladenosine methyltransferase (MTA70) were found to be binding strongly with the screened compound Dioxinodehydroeckol (DHE). Molecular dynamics simulations were performed at 100 ns with triplicate runs to validate the docking score and assess the dynamics of DHE interactions with each target protein. The results indicated Dioxinodehydroeckol, a novel marine compound, to be a putative inhibitor among all the screened molecules, which might be effective against multiple target proteins involved in neurological disorders, requiring further in vitro and in vivo validations.

Plectin plays a role in the migration and volume regulation of astrocytes: a potential biomarker of glioblastoma

BACKGROUND

The expression of aquaporin 4 (AQP4) and intermediate filament (IF) proteins is altered in malignant glioblastoma (GBM), yet the expression of the major IF-based cytolinker, plectin (PLEC), and its contribution to GBM migration and invasiveness, are unknown. Here, we assessed the contribution of plectin in affecting the distribution of plasmalemmal AQP4 aggregates, migratory properties, and regulation of cell volume in astrocytes.

METHODS

In human GBM, the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), AQP4 and PLEC transcripts was analyzed using publicly available datasets, and the colocalization of PLEC with AQP4 and with GFAP was determined by immunohistochemistry. We performed experiments on wild-type and plectin-deficient primary and immortalized mouse astrocytes, human astrocytes and permanent cell lines (U-251 MG and T98G) derived from a human malignant GBM. The expression of plectin isoforms in mouse astrocytes was assessed by quantitative real-time PCR. Transfection, immunolabeling and confocal microscopy were used to assess plectin-induced alterations in the distribution of the cytoskeleton, the influence of plectin and its isoforms on the abundance and size of plasmalemmal AQP4 aggregates, and the presence of plectin at the plasma membrane. The release of plectin from cells was measured by ELISA. The migration and dynamics of cell volume regulation of immortalized astrocytes were assessed by the wound-healing assay and calcein labeling, respectively.

RESULTS

A positive correlation was found between plectin and AQP4 at the level of gene expression and protein localization in tumorous brain samples. Deficiency of plectin led to a decrease in the abundance and size of plasmalemmal AQP4 aggregates and altered distribution and bundling of the cytoskeleton. Astrocytes predominantly expressed P1c, P1e, and P1g plectin isoforms. The predominant plectin isoform associated with plasmalemmal AQP4 aggregates was P1c, which also affected the mobility of astrocytes most prominently. In the absence of plectin, the collective migration of astrocytes was impaired and the dynamics of cytoplasmic volume changes in peripheral cell regions decreased. Plectin's abundance on the plasma membrane surface and its release from cells were increased in the GBM cell lines.

CONCLUSIONS

Plectin affects cellular properties that contribute to the pathology of GBM. The observed increase in both cell surface and released plectin levels represents a potential biomarker and therapeutic target in the diagnostics and treatment of GBMs.

Deficiency of copper responsive gene stmn4 induces retinal developmental defects

As part of the central nervous system (CNS), the retina senses light and also conducts and processes visual impulses. The damaged development of the retina not only causes visual damage, but also leads to epilepsy, dementia and other brain diseases. Recently, we have reported that copper (Cu) overload induces retinal developmental defects and down-regulates microtubule (MT) genes during zebrafish embryogenesis, but whether the down-regulation of microtubule genes mediates Cu stress induced retinal developmental defects is still unknown. In this study, we found that microtubule gene stmn4 exhibited obviously reduced expression in the retina of Cu overload embryos. Furthermore, stmn4 deficiency (stmn4-/-) resulted in retinal defects similar to those seen in Cu overload embryos, while overexpression of stmn4 effectively rescued retinal defects and cell apoptosis occurred in the Cu overload embryos and larvae. Meanwhile, stmn4 deficient embryos and larvae exhibited reduced mature retinal cells, the down-regulated expression of microtubules and cell cycle-related genes, and the mitotic cell cycle arrests of the retinal cells, which subsequently tended to apoptosis independent on p53. The results of this study demonstrate that Cu stress might lead to retinal developmental defects via down-regulating expression of microtubule gene stmn4, and stmn4 deficiency leads to impaired cell cycle and the accumulation of retinal progenitor cells (RPCs) and their subsequent apoptosis. The study provides a certain referee for copper overload in regulating the retinal development in fish.

Phospholysine phosphohistidine inorganic pyrophosphate phosphatase suppresses human esophageal cancer cell growth by inducing mitotic catastrophe through the P27/cyclin A/CDK2 signaling pathway

Esophageal cancer (ESCA) is a global dead malignancy with poor prognosis. However, its underlying molecular mechanism remains to be elucidated. Phospholysine phosphohistidine inorganic pyrophosphate phosphatase (LHPP) has been reported as a tumor suppressor in multisystem cancer but its function in ESCA has not been reported. We analyzed LHPP expression between normal and tumor tissues of ESCA patients and performed LHPP overexpression on the ESCA cells KYSE-150 (K150). We did not observe significant differences in the expression level of LHPP between ESCA and normal tissue, and noticed that LHPP expression was not related to ESCA patient survival rate. However, increased expression of LHPP in K150 cells induced mitochondrial dysfunction, inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and cell cycle, and simultaneously increased cell apoptosis. Besides, we found that K150 cells underwent mitotic catastrophe after overexpressing LHPP, which may be regulated through the P27/cyclin A/cdk2 signaling pathway. Although the expression of LHPP may not be related to the progression and prognosis of ESCA, mitotic catastrophe, a new mechanism of tumor suppressor function of LHPP was found after overexpressing LHPP in ESCA cells. The dual role of boron in vitro neurotoxication of glioblastoma cells via SEMA3F/NRP2 and ferroptosis signaling pathways

Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) is a malignant tumor cancer that originates from the star-shaped glial support tissues, namely astrocytes, and it is associated with a poor prognosis in the brain. The GBM has no cure, and chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy are all ineffective. A certain dose of Boric acid (BA) has many biochemical effects, conspicuously over antioxidant/oxidant rates. This article sought to investigate the modifies of various doses of BA on the glioblastoma concerning cytotoxicity, ferroptosis, apoptosis, and semaphorin-neuropilin signaling pathway. The Cytotoxic activity and cell viability of BA (0.39-25 mM) in C6 cells were tested at 24, 48, and 72 h using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol, 2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT). The IC₅₀ concentration of BA at 1.56 mM was found and cell lysate used for biochemical analysis. Glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPx4) and ACLS4 levels of ferroptosis, levels of total antioxidant (TAS) and oxidant (TAS) parameters, malondialdehyde (MDA), apoptotic proteins as caspase 3 (CASP3) and caspase 7 (CASP7) were measured. The ferroptosis, semaphoring-neuropilin, apoptotic pathway markers and cell counts were analyzed with flow cytometry, Q-PCR, Western and Elisa technique in the C6 cell lysate. BA triggered ferroptosis in the C6 cells dose-dependently, affecting the semaphorin pathway, so reducing proliferation with apoptotic compared with untreated cell as control group (p < .05). This study revealed that BA, defined as trace element and natural compound, incubated ferroptosis, total oxidant molecules, and caspase protein in a dose-dependently by disrupting SEMA3F in tumor cells.

LncRNA LINC01018/miR-942-5p/KNG1 axis regulates the malignant development of glioma in vitro and in vivo

AIMS

Since the inhibitory effect of KNG1 on glioma has been proved, this study further explores the regulation of the lncRNA/miRNA axis on KNG1 in glioma.

METHODS

The miRNAs that target KNG1 and the lncRNA that targets miR-942-5p were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and verified by experiments. The correlations between miR-942-5p and the survival of patients and between KNG1 and miR-942-5p were analyzed. After transfection, cell migration, invasion, proliferation, and cell cycle were detected through wound healing, Transwell, colony formation, and flow cytometry assays. A mouse subcutaneous xenotransplanted tumor model was established. The expressions of miR-942-5p, KNG1, LINC01018, and related genes were evaluated by quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), Western blot, or immunohistochemistry.

RESULTS

MiR-942-5p targeted KNG1, and LINC01018 sponged miR-942-5p. The high survival rate of patients was related to low miR-942-5p level. MiR-942-5p was highly expressed, whereas KNG1 was lowly expressed in glioma. MiR-942-5p was negatively correlated with KNG1. Silent LINC01018 or KNG1 and miR-942-5p mimic enhanced the migration, invasion, and proliferation of glioma cells, and regulated the expressions of metastasis-related and proliferation-related genes. LINC01018 knockdown and miR-942-5p mimic promoted glioma tumor growth in mice. The levels of miR-942-5p and KNG1 were decreased by LINC01018 knockdown, and LINC01018 expression was suppressed by miR-942-5p mimic. MiR-942-5p inhibitor, KNG1, and LINC01018 had the opposite effect to miR-942-5p mimic.

CONCLUSION

LINC01018/miR-942-5p/KNG1 pathway regulates the development of glioma cells in vitro and in vivo.

Identification of the prognostic and immunological roles of aquaporin 4: A potential target for survival and immunotherapy in glioma patients

Recent studies have revealed the critical role of AQP4 in the occurrence and development of gliomas. However, the role of AQP4 in immune regulation has not yet been reported. Many recent reports have identified the lymphatic system's occurrence within the central nervous system (CNS) and the vital role of immune regulation in treating brain tumors. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the role of AQP4 in the immune regulation of glioma. We used bioinformatics analysis to investigate the immunoregulatory function of AQP4, including its correlation with immunity, anti-tumor immune processes, immunotherapy, immune infiltration, tumor mutational burden (TMB), stemness, mutation, and pan-cancer. The results revealed that AQP4 was significantly associated with the expression of multiple immune checkpoints, immune cells, as well as multiple immune cell effector genes, and antigen presentation and processing abilities. Although no significant correlation was found between the AQP4 gene and IDH mutation and MGMT, AQP4 demonstrated substantial expression differences in different immunophenotypes and molecular types. Using the TTD database, we discovered that EGFR, ABAT, and PDGFRA are strongly associated with AQP4 expression in the glioblastoma (GBM) classification, and these factors could be the potential AQP4-related immunotherapy targets. Afterward, we screened the differential genes in the high and low AQP4 gene expression group, the high and low immune score group, and the high and low matrix score group and took the intersection as the candidate factor. Finally, univariate Cox analysis was used to find eight prognostic variables with significant differences across the candidate genes. After lasso dimensionality reduction, three genes built the model (RARRES1, SOCS3, and TTYH1). The scoring model generated by the three genes was eventually obtained after the multi-factor screening of the three genes. Finally, combined with clinical information and cox regression analysis, it was further confirmed that the model score could be used as an independent prognostic factor.

Different Approaches for the Profiling of Cancer Pathway-Related Genes in Glioblastoma Cells

Deregulation of signalling pathways that regulate cell growth, survival, metabolism, and migration can frequently lead to the progression of cancer. Brain tumours are a large group of malignancies characterised by inter- and intratumoral heterogeneity, with glioblastoma (GBM) being the most aggressive and fatal. The present study aimed to characterise the expression of cancer pathway-related genes (n = 84) in glial tumour cell lines (A172, SW1088, and T98G). The transcriptomic data obtained by the qRT-PCR method were compared to different control groups, and the most appropriate control for subsequent interpretation of the obtained results was chosen. We analysed three widely used control groups (non-glioma cells) in glioblastoma research: Human Dermal Fibroblasts (HDFa), Normal Human Astrocytes (NHA), and commercially available mRNAs extracted from healthy human brain tissues (hRNA). The gene expression profiles of individual glioblastoma cell lines may vary due to the selection of a different control group to correlate with. Moreover, we present the original multicriterial decision making (MCDM) for the possible characterization of gene expression profiles. We observed deregulation of 75 genes out of 78 tested in the A172 cell line, while T98G and SW1088 cells exhibited changes in 72 genes. By comparing the delta cycle threshold value of the tumour groups to the mean value of the three controls, only changes in the expression of 26 genes belonging to the following pathways were identified: angiogenesis FGF2; apoptosis APAF1, CFLAR, XIAP; cellular senescence BM1, ETS2, IGFBP5, IGFBP7, SOD1, TBX2; DNA damage and repair ERCC5, PPP1R15A; epithelial to mesenchymal transition SNAI3, SOX10; hypoxia ADM, ARNT, LDHA; metabolism ATP5A1, COX5A, CPT2, PFKL, UQCRFS1; telomeres and telomerase PINX1, TINF2, TNKS, and TNKS2. We identified a human astrocyte cell line and normal human brain tissue as the appropriate control group for an in vitro model, despite the small sample size. A different method of assessing gene expression levels produced the same disparities, highlighting the need for caution when interpreting the accuracy of tumorigenesis markers.

Alteration of the translational readthrough isoform AQP4ex induces redistribution and downregulation of AQP4 in human glioblastoma

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is characterized by a remarkable cellular and molecular heterogeneity that make the behavior of this tumor highly variable and resistant to therapy. In addition, the most serious clinical complication of GBM and other brain tumors is the development of vasogenic edema which dramatically increase the intracranial pressure. In the present study we evaluate the expression, supramolecular organization and spatial distribution of AQP4 and AQP4ex, the new readthrough isoform of AQP4, in relationship with the degree of vasogenic brain edema and tumor progression. To this purpose, tissue samples from regions of tumor core, peritumoral and non-infiltrated tissues of each GBM patient (n = 31) were analyzed. Immunofluorescence experiments revealed that the expression of AQP4ex was almost absent in tumoral regions while the canonical AQP4 isoforms appear mostly delocalized. In peritumoral tissues, AQP4 expression was found altered in those perivascular astrocyte processes where AQP4ex appeared reduced and partially delocalized. Protein expression levels measured by immunoblot showed that global AQP4 was reduced mainly in the tumor core. Notably, the relative amount of AQP4ex was more severely reduced starting from the peritumoral region. BN-PAGE experiments showed that the supramolecular organization of AQP4 is only partially affected in GBM. Edema assessment by magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the level of AQP4ex downregulation correlated with edema severity. Finally, the degree of BBB alteration, measured with sodium fluorescein content in GBM biopsies, correlated with the edema index and AQP4ex downregulation. Altogether these data suggest that the AQP4ex isoform is critical in the triggering event of progressive downregulation and mislocalization of AQP4 in GBM, which may affect the integrity of the BBB and contributes to accumulation of edema in the peritumoral tissue. Thus, AQP4ex could be considered as a potential early biomarker of GBM progression.

Harnessing oxidative stress for anti-glioma therapy

Glioma cells use intermediate levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) for growth and invasion, and suppressing these reactive molecules thus may compromise processes that are vital for glioma survival. Increased oxidative stress has been identified in glioma cells, in particular in glioma stem-like cells. Studies have shown that these cells harbor potent antioxidant defenses, although endogenous protection against nitrosative stress remains understudied. The enhancement of oxidative or nitrosative stress offers a potential target for triggering glioma cell death, but whether oxidative and nitrosative stresses can be combined for therapeutic effects requires further research. The optimal approach of harnessing oxidative stress for anti-glioma therapy should include the induction of free radical-induced oxidative damage and the suppression of antioxidant defense mechanisms selectively in glioma cells. However, selective induction of oxidative/nitrosative stress in glioma cells remains a therapeutic challenge, and research into selective drug delivery systems is ongoing. Because of multifactorial mechanisms of glioma growth, progression, and invasion, prospective oncological therapies may include not only therapeutic oxidative/nitrosative stress but also inhibition of oncogenic kinases, antioxidant molecules, and programmed cell death mediators.

Sempervirine Mediates Autophagy and Apoptosis via the Akt/mTOR Signaling Pathways in Glioma Cells

The potential antitumor effects of sempervirine (SPV), an alkaloid compound derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Gelsemium elegans Benth., on different malignant tumors were described in detail. The impact of SPV on glioma cells and the basic atomic components remain uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the activity of SPV in vitro and in vivo. The effect of SPV on the growth of human glioma cells was determined to explore three aspects, namely, cell cycle, cell apoptosis, and autophagy. In this study, glioma cells, U251 and U87 cells, and one animal model were used. Cells were treated with SPV (0, 1, 4, and 8 μM) for 48 h. The cell viability, cell cycle, apoptosis rate and autophagic flux were examined. Cell cycle, apoptotic, autophagy, and Akt/mTOR signal pathway-related proteins, such as CDK1, Cyclin B1, Beclin-1, p62, LC3, AKT, and mTOR were investigated by Western blot approach. As a result, cells induced by SPV led to G2/M phase arrest and apoptosis. SPV also promoted the effect of autophagic flux and accumulation of LC3B. SPV reduced the expression of p62 protein and induced the autophagic death of glioma cells. Furthermore, SPV downregulated the expressions of AKT and mTOR phosphorylated proteins in the mTOR signaling pathway, thereby affecting the onset of apoptosis and autophagy in U251 cells. In conclusion, SPV induced cellular G2/M phase arrest and blockade of the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby triggering apoptosis and cellular autophagy. The in vivo and in vitro studies confirmed that SPV inhibits the growth of glioma cancer.

MCDB: A comprehensive curated mitotic catastrophe database for retrieval, protein sequence alignment, and target prediction

Mitotic catastrophe (MC) is a form of programmed cell death induced by mitotic process disorders, which is very important in tumor prevention, development, and drug resistance. Because rapidly increased data for MC is vigorously promoting the tumor-related biomedical and clinical study, it is urgent for us to develop a professional and comprehensive database to curate MC-related data. Mitotic Catastrophe Database (MCDB) consists of 1214 genes/proteins and 5014 compounds collected and organized from more than 8000 research articles. Also, MCDB defines the confidence level, classification criteria, and uniform naming rules for MC-related data, which greatly improves data reliability and retrieval convenience. Moreover, MCDB develops protein sequence alignment and target prediction functions. The former can be used to predict new potential MC-related genes and proteins, and the latter can facilitate the identification of potential target proteins of unknown MC-related compounds. In short, MCDB is such a proprietary, standard, and comprehensive database for MC-relate data that will facilitate the exploration of MC from chemists to biologists in the fields of medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, oncology and so on. M2 Muscarinic Receptor Activation Impairs Mitotic Progression and Bipolar Mitotic Spindle Formation in Human Glioblastoma Cell Lines

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is characterized by several genetic abnormalities, leading to cell cycle deregulation and abnormal mitosis caused by a defective checkpoint. We previously demonstrated that arecaidine propargyl ester (APE), an orthosteric agonist of M2 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs), arrests the cell cycle of glioblastoma (GB) cells, reducing their survival. The aim of this work was to better characterize the molecular mechanisms responsible for this cell cycle arrest. Methods: The arrest of cell proliferation was evaluated by flow cytometry analysis. Using immunocytochemistry and time-lapse analysis, the percentage of abnormal mitosis and aberrant mitotic spindles were assessed in both cell lines. Western blot analysis was used to evaluate the modulation of Sirtuin2 and acetylated tubulin—factors involved in the control of cell cycle progression. Results: APE treatment caused arrest in the M phase, as indicated by the increase in p-HH3 (ser10)-positive cells. By immunocytochemistry, we found a significant increase in abnormal mitoses and multipolar mitotic spindle formation after APE treatment. Time-lapse analysis confirmed that the APE-treated GB cells were unable to correctly complete the mitosis. The modulated expression of SIRT2 and acetylated tubulin in APE-treated cells provides new insights into the mechanisms of altered mitotic progression in both GB cell lines. Conclusions: Our data show that the M2 agonist increases aberrant mitosis in GB cell lines. These results strengthen the idea of considering M2 acetylcholine receptors a novel promising therapeutic target for the glioblastoma treatment.
