Abstract
Benthic freshwater cyanobacteria have the potential to produce toxins. Compared with more extensively studied plankton species, little is known about the impact of harmful benthic cyanobacteria on aquatic organisms. As demersal fish are usually in direct contact with benthic cyanobacteria, it is important to understand their interactive effects. This study investigated the physio-chemical responses of two demersal fish (Xenocypris davidi and Crucian carp) after exposure to benthic Oscillatoria (producing cylindrospermopsin, 2 × 106 cells/mL) for 7 days. Interestingly, benthic Oscillatoria had less adverse effects on X. davidi than C. carp. The two demersal fish effectively ingested Oscillatoria, but Oscillatoria cell sheathes could not be fully digested in C. carp intestines and led to growth inhibition. Oscillatoria consumption induced oxidative stress and triggered alterations in detoxification enzyme activities in the X. davidi liver. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR) activities significantly increased in the C. carp liver, but catalase (CAT) and detoxification enzymes glutathione S-transferase (GST) and glutathione (GSH) activities were insignificantly changed. This suggested that C. carp may have a relatively weak detoxification capacity for toxic Oscillatoria. Oscillatoria ingestion led to more pronounced liver pathological changes in C. carp, including swelling, deformation, and loss of cytoskeleton structure. Simultaneously, fish consumption of Oscillatoria increased extracellular cylindrospermopsin concentration. These results provide valuable insights into the ecological risks associated with benthic cyanobacteria in aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract
The sample selection approach is very popular in learning with noisy labels. As deep networks "learn pattern first", prior methods built on sample selection share a similar training procedure: the small-loss examples can be regarded as clean examples and used for helping generalization, while the large-loss examples are treated as mislabeled ones and excluded from network parameter updates. However, such a procedure is arguably debatable from two folds: (a) it does not consider the bad influence of noisy labels in selected small-loss examples; (b) it does not make good use of the discarded large-loss examples, which may be clean or have meaningful information for generalization. In this paper, we propose regularly truncated M-estimators (RTME) to address the above two issues simultaneously. Specifically, RTME can alternately switch modes between truncated M-estimators and original M-estimators. The former can adaptively select small-losses examples without knowing the noise rate and reduce the side-effects of noisy labels in them. The latter makes the possibly clean examples but with large losses involved to help generalization. Theoretically, we demonstrate that our strategies are label-noise-tolerant. Empirically, comprehensive experimental results show that our method can outperform multiple baselines and is robust to broad noise types and levels.

Abstract
Following acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion (MIR), macrophages infiltrate damaged cardiac tissue and alter their polarization phenotype to respond to acute inflammation and chronic fibrotic remodeling. In this study we investigated the role of macrophages in post-ischemic myocardial fibrosis and explored therapeutic targets for myocardial fibrosis. Male mice were subjected to ligation of the left coronary artery for 30 min. We first detected the levels of chemokines in heart tissue that recruited immune cells infiltrating into the heart, and found that granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GMCSF) released by mouse cardiac microvascular endothelial cells (MCMECs) peaked at 6 h after reperfusion, and c-c motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2) released by GMCSF-induced macrophages peaked at 24 h after reperfusion. In co-culture of BMDMs with MCMECs, we demonstrated that GMCSF derived from MCMECs stimulated the release of CCL2 by BMDMs and effectively promoted the migration of BMDMs. We also confirmed that GMCSF promoted M1 polarization of macrophages in vitro, while GMCSF neutralizing antibodies (NTABs) blocked CCL2/CCR2 signaling. In MIR mouse heart, we showed that GMCSF activated CCL2/CCR2 signaling to promote NLRP3/caspase-1/IL-1β-mediated and amplified inflammatory damage. Knockdown of CC chemokine receptor 2 gene (CCR2-/-), or administration of specific CCR2 inhibitor RS102895 (5 mg/kg per 12 h, i.p., one day before MIR and continuously until the end of the experiment) effectively reduced the area of myocardial infarction, and down-regulated inflammatory mediators and NLRP3/Caspase-1/IL-1β signaling. Mass cytometry confirmed that M2 macrophages played an important role during fibrosis, while macrophage-depleted mice exhibited significantly reduced transforming growth factor-β (Tgf-β) levels in heart tissue after MIR. In co-culture of macrophages with fibroblasts, treatment with recombinant mouse CCL2 stimulated macrophages to release a large amount of Tgf-β, and promoted the release of Col1α1 by fibroblasts. This effect was diminished in BMDMs from CCR2-/- mice. After knocking out or inhibiting CCR2-gene, the levels of Tgf-β were significantly reduced, as was the level of myocardial fibrosis, and cardiac function was protected. This study confirms that the acute injury to chronic fibrosis transition after MIR in mice is mediated by GMCSF/CCL2/CCR2 signaling in macrophages through NLRP3 inflammatory cascade and the phenotype switching.

Abstract
The weekly calendar planning activity (WCPA) is a performance-based assessment of executive function (EF) via a cognitively-based instrumental activity of daily life (C-IADL). This study aimed to examine the validity of the Chinese version of the WCPA in adults with stroke and to explore the characteristics of cognitive strategy use among the population. Fifty-eight hospitalized patients with stroke aged 26-82 years and 53 controls completed the WCPA, two neuropsychological tests and instrumental activity of daily life (IADL) scale. Participants with stroke were subdivided into a stroke cognitive impaired group (Stroke-CI) and a general stroke group (Stroke-NCI) based on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Results showed that the WCPA was able to discriminate between Stroke-CI with controls and the Stroke-NCI group with controls. We found significant limitations in stroke patients' ability to use strategies. Concurrent and ecological validities were demonstrated through correlations between the neuropsychological test scores, IADL and the WCPA performance. This study provides initial evidence for the validity of the Chinese version of the WCPA-10 for adults with stroke and suggests the need to use performance-based tests even in patients with normal cognitive screening test results. The WCPA could provide useful information for strategy-based interventions for adults with stroke.

Abstract
The major latex proteins/ripening-related proteins are a subfamily of the Bet v 1 protein superfamily and are commonly involved in plant development and responses to various stresses. However, the functions of MLPs in the postharvest cold storage of fruits remain uninvestigated. Herein, we identified 30 MLP genes in the peach (Prunus persica) genome that were clustered into three subgroups. Chromosomal location analysis revealed that the PpMLP genes were unevenly distributed on five of the eight peach chromosomes. Synteny analysis of the MLP genes between peach and seven other plant species (five dicotyledons and two monocotyledons) explored their evolutionary characteristics. Furthermore, the PpMLP promoters contained cis-elements for multiple hormones and stress responses. Gene expression analysis revealed that PpMLPs participated in chilling stress responses. Ectopic expression of PpMLP10 in Arabidopsis improved chilling stress tolerance by decreasing membrane damage and maintaining membrane stability. Additional research confirmed that PpWRKY2 participates in PpMLP10-mediated chilling stress by binding to its promoter. Collectively, these results suggest the role of PpMLP10 in enhancing chilling stress tolerance, which is significant for decreasing chilling injury during the postharvest cold storage of peaches.

Abstract
Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), the most common type of drug-resistant epilepsy, severely affects quality of life. However, the underlying mechanism of TLE remains unclear and deserves further exploration. Sorbs2, a key synaptic regulatory protein, plays an important role in the regulation of synaptic transmission in the mammalian brain. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression pattern of Sorbs2 in a kainic acid (KA)-induced TLE mouse model and in patients with TLE to further determine whether Sorbs2 is involved in seizure activity and to explore the potential mechanism by which Sorbs2 affects seizures in this TLE mouse model. First, we found that the expression of Sorbs2 was obviously increased in the hippocampus and cortex of a TLE mouse model and in the temporal cortex of TLE patients, indicating an abnormal expression pattern of Sorbs2 in TLE. Importantly, subsequent behavioral analyses and local field potential (LFP) analyses of a TLE mouse model demonstrated that the downregulation of hippocampal Sorbs2 could prolong the latency to spontaneous recurrent seizures (SRSs) and protect against SRSs. We also found that the knockdown of Sorbs2 in the hippocampus could decrease excitatory synaptic transmission in pyramidal neurons (PNs) in the hippocampal CA1 region and reduce the expression levels of the AMPAR subunits GluA1 and GluA2. Thus, we speculated that Sorbs2 may promote epileptogenesis and the development of TLE by affecting AMPAR-mediated excitatory synaptic transmission in PNs in the CA1 region. Therefore, reducing the expression of hippocampal Sorbs2 could restrain epileptogenesis and the development of TLE.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study focused on investigating the mechanism in which the KDM5D/E2F1/TNNC1 axis affected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. METHODS At first, we determined HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis, as well as SOD activity, MDA content, and ROS level. ChIP assay was subsequently conducted to examine H3K4me3 modification in the E2F1 promoter region and the binding of E2F1 to the TNNC1 promoter region after KDM5D overexpression. Meanwhile, we performed western blot for testing KDM5D, H3K4me3, and E2F1 expression after KDM5D overexpression in Huh-7 cells. The binding of transcription factor E2F1 to the TNNC1 promoter region was assessed by dual luciferase reporter gene assay. We further observed the tumor growth ability in nude mice transplanted tumor models. RESULTS Overexpressed KDM5D suppressed HCC proliferation, migration, and invasion, promoted the apoptosis, suppressed SOD activity, elevated MDA content and ROS level, and promoted ferroptosis. KDM5D suppressed H3K4me3 modification in the E2F1 promoter region and suppressed E2F1 expression in HCC cells. Reduced KDM5D, H3K4me3, and E2F1 expression was found after KDM5D overexpression in Huh-7 cells. Overexpressing E2F1 reversed the inhibitory effects of KDM5D on HCC cell proliferative, migratory, and invasive behaviors. KDM5D repressed TNNC1 transcription by inhibiting E2F1 binding to the TNNC1 promoter. In vivo KDM5D overexpression inhibited HCC development via the E2F1/TNNC1 axis. CONCLUSION KDM5D inhibits E2F1 expression by suppressing H3K4me3 modification in the E2F1 promoter region, which in turn suppresses the binding of E2F1 to the TNNC1 promoter region, thus leading to the inhibition of HCC development.

Abstract
Aims: This research was aimed at investigating the effects of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α)-mediated DNA methylation enzymes (ten-eleven translocase-2 [TET2] and DNA methyltransferase-3a [DNMT3a]) under hypoxic conditions on S100A6 transcription, thereby promoting the growth and metastasis of lung cancer cells. Methods: The expression of HIF-1α or S100A6 in lung cancer cells was interfered with under normoxic and hypoxic conditions, and the cell proliferative, migratory, and invasive properties were assessed. The mechanism of HIF-1α-regulated TET2 and DNMT3 effects on S100A6 transcription under hypoxic conditions was further investigated. Results: Functionally, S100A6 over-expression promoted lung cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. S100A6 over-expression reversed the inhibitory effects of HIF-1α interference on the proliferation and metastasis of lung cancer cells. S100A6 was induced to express in an HIF-1α-dependent manner under hypoxic conditions, and silencing S100A6 or HIF-1α suppressed lung cancer cell proliferation and metastasis under hypoxic conditions. Further, The Cancer Genome Atlas-lung adenocarcinoma database analysis revealed that S100A6 mRNA levels had a negative correlation with methylation levels. Mechanistically, CpG hypomethylation status in the S100A6 promoter hypoxia response element had an association with HIF-1α induction. TET2 was enriched in S100A6 promoter region of lung cancer cells under hypoxic conditions, whereas DNMT3a enrichment was reduced in S100A6 promoter region. HIF-1α-mediated S100A6 activation was linked to DNMT3a-associated epigenetic inactivation and TET2 activation. Innovation: The activation of HIF-1α-mediated DNA methylation enzymes under hypoxic conditions regulated S100A6 transcription, thereby promoting lung cancer cell growth and metastasis. Conclusion: In lung cancer progression, hypoxia-induced factor HIF-1α combined with DNA methylation modifications co-regulates S100A6 transcriptional activation and promotes lung cancer cell growth and metastasis.

Abstract
Acute lung injury (ALI) is characterized by pulmonary diffusion abnormalities that may progress to multiple-organ failure in severe cases. There are limited effective treatments for ALI, which makes the search for new therapeutic avenues critically important. Macrophages play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of ALI. The degree of macrophage polarization is closely related to the severity and prognosis of ALI, and S100A9 promotes M1 polarization of macrophages. The present study assessed the effects of S100A9-gene deficiency on macrophage polarization and acute lung injury. Our cohort study showed that plasma S100A8/A9 levels had significant diagnostic value for pediatric pneumonia and primarily correlated with monocyte-macrophages and neutrophils. We established a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mouse model of acute lung injury and demonstrated that knockout of the S100A9 gene mitigated inflammation by suppressing the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, reducing the number of inflammatory cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and inhibiting cell apoptosis, which ameliorated acute lung injury in mice. The in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies demonstrated that S100A9-gene deficiency inhibited macrophage M1 polarization and reduced the levels of pulmonary macrophage chemotactic factors and inflammatory cytokines by suppressing the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway and reversing the expression of the NLRP3 pyroptosis pathway, which reduced cell death. In conclusion, S100A9-gene deficiency alleviated LPS-induced acute lung injury by inhibiting macrophage M1 polarization and pyroptosis via the TLR4/MyD88/NFκB pathway, which suggests a potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of ALI.

Abstract
To enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of subspace clustering in visual tasks, this work introduces a novel approach that automatically eliminates the optimal mean, which is embedded in the subspace clustering framework of low-rank representation (LRR) methods, along with the computationally factored formulation of Schatten p -norm. By addressing the issues related to meaningful computations involved in some LRR methods and overcoming biased estimation of the low-rank solver, we propose faster nonconvex subspace clustering methods through joint Schatten p -norm factorization with optimal mean (JS p NFOM), forming a unified framework for enhancing performance while reducing time consumption. The proposed approach employs tractable and scalable factor techniques, which effectively address the disadvantages of higher computational complexity, particularly when dealing with large-scale coefficient matrices. The resulting nonconvex minimization problems are reformulated and further iteratively optimized by multivariate weighting algorithms, eliminating the need for singular value decomposition (SVD) computations in the developed iteration procedures. Moreover, each subproblem can be guaranteed to obtain the closed-form solver, respectively. The theoretical analyses of convergence properties and computational complexity further support the applicability of the proposed methods in real-world scenarios. Finally, comprehensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed nonconvex clustering approaches compared to existing state-of-the-art methods on several publicly available databases. The demonstrated improvements highlight the practical significance of our work in subspace clustering tasks for visual data analysis. Abstract
Aqueous zinc electrolytes offer the potential for cheaper rechargeable batteries due to their safe compatibility with the high capacity metal anode; yet, they are stymied by irregular zinc deposition and consequent dendrite growth. Suppressing dendrite formation by tailoring the electrolyte is a proven approach from lithium batteries; yet, the underlying mechanistic understanding that guides such tailoring does not necessarily directly translate from one system to the other. Here, it is shown that the electrostatic shielding mechanism, a fundamental concept in electrolyte engineering for stable metal anodes, has different consequences for the plating morphology in aqueous zinc batteries. Operando electrochemical transmission electron microscopy is used to directly observe the zinc nucleation and growth under different electrolyte compositions and reveal that electrostatic shielding additive suppresses dendrites by inhibiting secondary zinc nucleation along the (100) edges of existing primary deposits and encouraging preferential deposition on the (002) faces, leading to a dense and block-like zinc morphology. The strong influence of the crystallography of Zn on the electrostatic shielding mechanism is further confirmed with Zn||Ti cells and density functional theory modeling. This work demonstrates the importance of considering the unique aspects of the aqueous zinc battery system when using concepts from other battery chemistries.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Renal function can modify the outcomes of large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke across stroke etiologies in disparate degrees. The presence of renal function deficit can also impair the pharmacokinetics of tirofiban. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the roles of renal function in determining efficacy and safety of intravenous tirofiban before endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO). METHODS This study was a post hoc exploratory analysis of the RESCUE-BT trial. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients achieving functional independence (modified Rankin scale 0-2) at 90 days, and the primary safety outcome was the rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH). RESULTS Among 908 individuals with available serum creatinine, decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) status was noted more commonly in patients with cardioembolic stroke (CE), while large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) was predominant in patients with normal renal function. In LAA with normal renal function, tirofiban was associated with higher rates of functional independence at 90 days (41.67% vs 59.80%, p = 0.003). However, for LVO patients with renal dysfunction, tirofiban did not improve functional outcomes for any of the etiologies (LAA, p = 0.876; CE, p = 0.662; others, p = 0.894) and significantly increased the risk of sICH among non-LAA patients (p = 0.020). Mediation analysis showed tirofiban reduced thrombectomy passes (12.27%) and drug/placebo to recanalization time (14.25%) mediated its effects on functional independence. CONCLUSION This present study demonstrated the importance of evaluating renal function before administering intravenous tirofiban among patients with LVO who are planned to undergo EVT.

Abstract
Ultrasound A-scan is an important tool for quantitative assessment of ocular lesions. However, its usability is limited by the difficulty of accurately localizing the ultrasound probe to a lesion of interest. In this study, a transparent LiNbO3 single crystal ultrasound transducer was fabricated, and integrated with a widefield fundus camera to guide the ultrasound local position. The electrical impedance, phase spectrum, pulse-echo performance, and optical transmission spectrum of the ultrasound transducer were validated. The novel fundus camera-guided ultrasound probe was tested for in vivo measurement of rat eyes. Anterior and posterior segments of the rat eye could be unambiguously differentiated with the fundus photography-guided ultrasound measurement. A model eye was also used to verify the imaging performance of the prototype device in the human eye. The prototype shows the potential of being used in the clinic to accurately measure the thickness and echogenicity of ocular lesions in vivo.

Abstract
The risks of planktonic cyanobacteria blooms have been the focus of much scientific research, but studies on the ecotoxicological effects of benthic cyanobacteria are lagging. The impacts of cyanobacteria cells on fish populations might be more complex in contrast to purified cyanotoxins or cyanobacteria extracts. This study systematically compared the chronic effects of benthic Oscillatoria sp. (producing cylindrospermopsins) and planktonic Microcystis aeruginosa (producing microcystins) on the growth and reproduction of zebrafish through life-cycle exposure (5- 90 days post fertilization). The results showed that both Oscillatoria sp. and M. aeruginosa exposure caused growth inhibition and fecundity reduction in F0 generation by disrupting sex hormone levels, delayed ovarian and sperm development, and induced pathological lesions in zebrafish gonads. Furthermore, exposure to Oscillatoria sp. or M. aeruginosa in adult zebrafish increased mortality and teratogenicity in F1 embryos (without exposure), indicating a parental transmission effect of developmental toxicity. The difference was that M. aeruginosa exposure led to significant alterations in pathways, such as tissue development, redox processes, and steroid hormone synthesis. In contrast, Oscillatoria sp. exposure primarily disrupted the PPAR signaling pathway, cell adhesion molecules, and lipid transport pathways. Interestingly, the differentially expressed genes revealed that male fish were more sensitive to harmful cyanobacteria than females, whether exposed to Oscillatoria sp. or M. aeruginosa. These findings contribute to a better mechanistic understanding of the chronic toxic effects of distinct types of harmful cyanobacteria, suggesting that the ecological risk of benthic cyanobacteria requires further attention.

Abstract
Functional ultrasound (fUS) flow imaging provides a non-invasive method for the in vivo study of cerebral blood flow and neural activity. This study used functional flow imaging to investigate rat brain's response to ultrasound and colored-light stimuli. Male Long-Evan rats were exposed to direct full-field strobe flashes light and ultrasound stimulation to their retinas, while brain activity was measured using high-frequency ultrasound imaging. Our study found that light stimuli, particularly blue light, elicited strong responses in the visual cortex and lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN), as evidenced by changes in cerebral blood volume (CBV). In contrast, ultrasound stimulation elicited responses undetectable with fUS flow imaging, although these were observable when directly measuring the brain's electrical signals. These findings suggest that fUS flow imaging can effectively differentiate neural responses to visual stimuli, with potential applications in understanding visual processing and developing new diagnostic tools.

Abstract
Acute liver failure (ALF) is a critical medical condition defined as the rapid development of hepatic dysfunction. Conventional ultrasound elastography cannot continuously monitor liver stiffness over the course of rapidly changing diseases for early detection due to the requirement of a handheld probe. In this study, we introduce wearable bioadhesive ultrasound elastography (BAUS-E), which can generate acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) to induce shear waves for the continuous monitoring of modulus changes. BAUS-E contains 128 channels with a compact design with only 24 mm in the azimuth direction for comfortable wearability. We further used BAUS-E to continuously monitor the stiffness of in vivo rat livers with ALF induced by d-galactosamine over 48 hours, and the stiffness change was observed within the first 6 hours. BAUS-E holds promise for clinical applications, particularly in patients after organ transplantation or postoperative care in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Abstract
Shiga toxin (Stx) released by Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC) causes life-threatening illness. Its production and release require induction of Stx-encoding prophage resident within the STEC genome. We identified two different STEC strains, PA2 and PA8, bearing Stx-encoding prophage whose sequences primarily differ by the position of an IS629 insertion element, yet differ in their abilities to kill eukaryotic cells and whose prophages differ in their spontaneous induction frequencies. The IS629 element in ϕPA2, disrupts an ORF predicted to encode a DNA adenine methyltransferase, whereas in ϕPA8, this element lies in an intergenic region. Introducing a plasmid expressing the methyltransferase gene product into ϕPA2 bearing-strains increases both the prophage spontaneous induction frequency and virulence to those exhibited by ϕPA8 bearing-strains. However, a plasmid bearing mutations predicted to disrupt the putative active site of the methyltransferase does not complement either of these defects. When complexed with a second protein, the methyltransferase holoenzyme preferentially uses 16S rRNA as a substrate. The second subunit is responsible for directing the preferential methylation of rRNA. Together these findings reveal a previously unrecognized role for rRNA methylation in regulating induction of Stx-encoding prophage.

Abstract
Rationale: The transition from acute inflammation to fibrosis following myocardial ischemia‒reperfusion (MIR) significantly affects prognosis. Macrophages play a pivotal role in inflammatory damage and repair after MIR. However, the heterogeneity and transformation mechanisms of macrophages during this transition are not well understood. Methods: In this study, we used single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and mass cytometry to examine murine monocyte-derived macrophages after MIR to investigate macrophage subtypes and their roles in the MIR process. S100a9-/- mice were used to establish MIR model to clarify the mechanism of alleviating inflammation and fibrosis after MIR. Reinfusion of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) after macrophage depletion (MD) in mice subjected to MIR were performed to further examine the role of S100a9hi macrophages in MIR. Results: We identified a unique subtype of S100a9hi macrophages that originate from monocytes and are involved in acute inflammation and fibrosis. These S100a9hi macrophages infiltrate the heart as early as 2 h post-reperfusion and activate the Myd88/NFκB/NLRP3 signaling pathway, amplifying inflammatory responses. As the tissue environment shifts from proinflammatory to reparative, S100a9 activates transforming growth factor-β (Tgf-β)/p-smad3 signaling. This activation not only induces the transformation of myocardial fibroblasts to myofibroblasts but also promotes fibrosis via the macrophage-to-myofibroblast transition (MMT). Targeting S100a9 with a specific inhibitor could effectively mitigate acute inflammatory damage and halt the progression of fibrosis, including MMT. Conclusion: S100a9hi macrophages are a promising therapeutic target for managing the transition from inflammation to fibrosis after MIR.

Abstract
People are increasingly using the web for fact-checking and other forms of information seeking. The "Google effects" refers to the idea that individuals rely on the Internet as a source of knowledge rather than remembering it for themselves. However, few literature review have yet comprehensively examined the media effects of this intensive Internet search behavior. In this study, by carrying out meta-analysis, we found that google effects is closely associated with cognitive load, behavioral phenotype and cognitive self-esteem. And this phenomenon is also more likely to happen while using a mobile phone to browse the Internet rather than a computer. People with a larger knowledge base are less susceptible to the consequences of Internet use than those with a smaller knowledge base. The media effect was stronger for persons who had used the Internet before than for those who had not. And meta-analyses show that participants in North America (parameter = -1.0365, 95%CI = [-1.8758, -0.1972], p < 0.05) are more susceptible to frequent Internet search behavior relative to other regions. Overall, google effects on memory challenges the way individuals seek and read information, and it may lead to changes in cognitive and memory mechanisms.

Abstract
Background Recurrent pregnancy loss is a distressing event during pregnancy, and understanding its causal factors is crucial. Follistatin, a glycoprotein involved in folliculogenesis and embryogenesis, has been implicated as a potential contributor to the risk of spontaneous abortion. However, establishing a causal relationship requires rigorous investigation using robust methods. Methods In this study, we utilized mendelian randomization (MR), a powerful genetic epidemiological approach, to examine the causal relationship between follistatin levels and spontaneous abortion. We obtained instrumental variables strongly associated with follistatin levels from large-scale genome-wide association from the IEU database. The inverse variance weighting (IVW) method was taken as gold standard. We also performed sensitivity test to evaluate the robustness of our result. Results MR analysis revealed a significant causal relationship between low follistatin levels and spontaneous abortion (p = 0.03). Sensitivity analyses, including pleiotropy test, heterogeneity test, and leave-one-out analysis, all supported the robustness of our findings. Conclusion Our study provides compelling evidence supporting the causal relationship between low follistatin levels and increased risk of spontaneous abortion. These findings underscore the importance of follistatin in the etiology of spontaneous abortion and suggest potential preventive interventions. Modulating follistatin levels or relevant pathways could hold promise for reducing the incidence of spontaneous abortion and improving reproductive outcomes. The utilization of MRs strengthens the validity of our results by mitigating confounding and reverse causality biases. Further research is needed to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms and explore therapeutic strategies targeting follistatin levels.

Abstract
The complex etiologies and mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease (AD) underscore the importance for devising multitarget drugs to achieve effective therapy. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are capable of concurrently regulating the expression of multiple proteins by selectively targeting disease- associated genes in a sequence-specific fashion. Nonetheless, as RNA-based drugs, their stability in the circulation and capacity of traversing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is largely compromised, thereby limiting their potential clinical applications. In this study, we formulated the nanoliposomes encapsulating polyethyleneimine (PEI)/miR-195 complex (DPMT@PEI/miR-195) that was engineered through dual modifications to contain P-aminophenyl-alpha-d-mannopyranoside (MAN) and cationic cell-penetrating peptide (TAT). DPMT@PEI/miR-195 exhibited the enhanced BBB- and cell membrane penetrating capability. As expected, we observed that DPMT@PEI/miR-195 administered through intravenous tail injection of produced greater effectiveness than donepezil and the same range of effect as aducanumab in alleviating the cognitive decline in 7-month-old APP/PS1 mice. Moreover, the combination treatment with DPMT@PEI/miR-195 and donepezil effectively ameliorated the deterioration of cognition in 16-month-old APP/PS1 mice, with enhanced effects than either DPMT@PEI/miR-195 or donepezil alone. Furthermore, DPMT@PEI/miR-195 effectively attenuated the positive signals of Aβ, AT8, and CD68 in APP/PS1 mice without notable side effects. Our findings indicate DPMT@PEI/miR-195 as a promising potentially new agent or approach for the prophylaxis and treatment of early and advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease.

Abstract
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), an emerging infectious disease with a high fatality rate. Cardiac injury in SFTS patients is a major concern. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of cardiac injury and its association with mortality in hospitalized patients infected with novel Bunyavirus. Cardiac injury was defined as the presence of any of the following abnormalities: (1) blood levels of cardiac biomarkers (creatine kinase-MB, troponin-I, B-type natriuretic peptide or N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide); (2) new abnormalities in electrocardiography. The 203 SFTS patients were included in the final analysis. The proportion of SFTS patients developing cardiac injury during hospitalization was 71.4% (145/203). Compared with the uninjured group, the cardiac injury group had the severity of cardiac injury was underscored by higher median hospital costs (31420 vs. 12911, p < 0.001), higher proportion of intensive care units admissions (13.1% vs. 3.4%, p = 0.041), and higher hospital mortality rate (33.8% vs. 6.9%, p < 0.001). Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that cardiac injury was associated with higher mortality during hospitalization (hazards ratio, 7.349; 95% CI: 2.352-22.960). Cardiac injury is common among hospitalized SFTS patients, and it is associated with higher risk of mortality.

Abstract
Purpose Central sensitization (CS) is commonly seen in chronic pain disorders, including neuropathic pain. However, there exist inconsistencies concerning the presence of CS in chronic pain secondary to carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). CS and neuropathic pain manifestations in CTS remain not well established. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the CS and pain profiles in patients with CTS and to explore the potential determinants associated with CS. Patients and Methods Patients with suspected CTS symptoms lasting 3 months or above and healthy controls were enrolled. History, physical examinations, and nerve conduction studies were employed to confirm the diagnosis and severity of median nerve dysfunction. The central sensitization inventory (CSI) was used to screen CS. Other outcomes included neuropathic pain, CTS-specific symptom severity and functions, emotion, and health-related quality of life. Between-group comparisons were conducted in terms of the CS presence. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify determinants associated with CS. Results Over 60% of participants with CTS were found with clinical CS, significantly higher than that in the control group. More than 70% of the CTS participants were identified to have possible or very likely neuropathic pain components. In addition, one-fourth of CTS cases had depression or anxiety. Anxiety was associated with an increased risk of developing CS in CTS (adjusted OR=1.31, 95% CI 1.08-1.59), whereas higher self-perceived general health rating was negatively associated with the presence of CS (adjusted OR=0.92, 95% CI 0.88-0.97) in the multivariate adjusted regression model. Conclusion CS is prevalent in patients with CTS. Predominant neuropathic pain characteristics were uncovered in CTS patients as well as comorbid psychological distress. Significant association was found between anxiety and CS presence. Self-perceived general health was inversely related to CS. Further research is warranted to explore the mechanisms of anxiety and central pain processing in painful entrapment neuropathy.

Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the predictive role of age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index (ACCI) scores for in-hospital prognosis of severe fever in thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) patients. A total of 192 patients diagnosed with SFTS were selected as the study subjects. Clinical data were retrospectively collected. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to evaluate the diagnostic value of ACCI for the mortality of SFTS patients, and Cox regression models were used to assess the association between predictive factors and prognosis. The 192 SFTS patients were divided into two groups according to the clinical endpoints (survivors/non-survivors). The results showed that the mortality of the 192 hospitalized SFTS patients was 26.6%. The ACCI score of the survivor group was significantly lower than that of the non-survivor group. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the increased ACCI score was a significant predictor of poor prognosis in SFTS. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that SFTS patients with an ACCI >2.5 had shorter mean survival times, indicating a poor prognosis. Our findings suggest that ACCI, as an easy-to-use clinical indicator, may offer a simple and feasible approach for clinicians to determine the severity of SFTS.

Abstract
To strengthen cooperation among local governmental departments and improve water ecology, China has proposed the river management policy "river chief system + procurator". However, it remains to be verified that intergovernmental cooperative policies contribute to the improvement of China's water ecology. Based on data from 87 national water quality monitoring sites released by the China Environmental Monitoring Station from 2015 to 2022, this paper constructed a multiperiod differences-in-differences model to evaluate the effectiveness of the cooperative governmental policy, the "river chief system + procurator", on the improvement of the water quality of rivers and lakes. The results of the study show that cooperative government policy helps to improve the water environment of rivers and lakes, which means that the implementation of the "river chief system + procurator" policy has significantly improved water quality conditions where implemented. In addition, further analysis revealed that intergovernmental cooperative policies had a limited impact on relevant indicators of river and lake pollutants that are more susceptible to different pollution sources compared to the comprehensive indicator of water quality class. This study helps further the understanding of the effects of cooperative intergovernmental policies and the policy practice of environmental governance in China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) sufferers show problematic patterns of Internet use such as fear of missing out (FOMO) and sharing misinformation and fake news. This study aimed to investigate these associations in survivors of the 2008 earthquake in Wenchuan, China. METHODS A self-reported survey was completed by 356 survivors of the Wenchuan earthquake. A mediated structural equation model was constructed to test a proposed pattern of associations with FOMO as a mediator of the relationship between PTSD symptoms and belief in fake news, as well as moderators of this pathway. RESULTS PTSD was directly associated with believing fake news (β = 0.444, p < .001) and with FOMO (β = 0.347, p < .001). FOMO mediated the association between PTSD and fake news belief (β = 0.373, p < .001). Age moderated the direct (β = 0.148, t = 3.097, p = .002) and indirect (β = 0.145, t = 3.122, p = .002) pathways, with effects more pronounced with increasing age. Gender was also a moderator, with the indirect effect present in females but not in males (β = 0.281, t = 6.737, p < .001). CONCLUSION Those with higher PTSD symptoms are more likely to believe fake news and this is partly explained by FOMO. This effect is present in females and not males and is stronger in older people. Findings extend knowledge of the role of psychological variables in problematic Internet use among those with PTSD.

Abstract
Since the identification of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) in 2010, there has been an increase in reported cases in China and other Asian countries. Cardiac abnormalities are highly prevalent in SFTS patients. We searched 5 Chinese and international databases for published SFTS articles and extracted patient characteristics, cardiac complications, electrocardiography findings, and imaging findings. Twenty-seven studies were identified, covering 1938 patients and 621 cardiac abnormalities. Arrhythmia was the most prevalent, reported in 24 studies and 525 cases, with a prevalence of 27.09%. The 2 major types of arrhythmias were bradycardia and atrial fibrillation. Heart failure was the second most prevalent abnormality, with 77 cases. Changes in the ST segment and T wave were the most common. Valve regurgitation, reduced ejection fraction, and pericardial effusion were also documented. We recommend that physicians pay close attention to newly onset arrhythmia and structural heart disease in SFTS patients.

Abstract
Bionic multifunctional structural materials that are lightweight, strong, and perceptible have shown great promise in sports, medicine, and aerospace applications. However, smart monitoring devices with integrated mechanical protection and piezoelectric induction are limited. Herein, we report a strategy to grow the recyclable and healable piezoelectric Rochelle salt crystals in 3D-printed cuttlebone-inspired structures to form a new composite for reinforcement smart monitoring devices. In addition to its remarkable mechanical and piezoelectric performance, the growth mechanisms, the recyclability, the sensitivity, and repairability of the 3D-printed Rochelle salt cuttlebone composite were studied. Furthermore, the versatility of composite has been explored and applied as smart sensor armor for football players and fall alarm knee pads, focusing on incorporated mechanical reinforcement and electrical self-sensing capabilities with data collection of the magnitude and distribution of impact forces, which offers new ideas for the design of next-generation smart monitoring electronics in sports, military, aerospace, and biomedical engineering.

Abstract
HER2 is highly expressed in a variety of malignant tumors and affects the prognosis of patients, making it a highly sensitive target for cancer therapy. Since the approval of the first HER2 inhibitor, trastuzumab, in 1998, HER2-targeted drugs have rapidly evolved. Currently, targeting HER2 drugs mainly include monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). This article reviews the development of HER2 inhibitors for various tumors over the past 20 years.

Abstract
The treatment of natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) presents an onerous challenge, and a search for new therapeutic targets is urgently needed. Poly ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) were initially used to treat breast and ovarian cancers with BRCA1/2 mutations. Their excellent antitumor efficacy led to a series of clinical trials conducted in other malignancies. However, the exploration of PARPi and their potential use in combination treatments for NKTCL remains unexplored. We treated NKTCL cell lines with fluzoparib (a novel inhibitor of PARP) and chidamide (a classical inhibitor of HDACs) to explore their cytotoxic effects in vitro. Then, their antitumor efficacy in vivo was confirmed in YT-luciferin xenograft mouse models. Fluzoparib or chidamide alone inhibited NKTCL cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. Cotreatment with both drugs synergistically induced excessive accumulation of DNA double-strand breaks and massive apoptotic cell death by inhibiting the DNA damage repair pathway, as shown by the decreased protein levels of p-ATM, p-BRCA1, p-ATR, and Rad51. Moreover, the combination treatment apparently increased the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) to enhance apoptosis, and pretreatment with an ROS scavenger reduced the proapoptotic effect by 30-60% in NKTCL cell lines. In vivo, this combined regimen also showed synergistic antitumor effects in xenograft mouse models. The combination of fluzoparib and chidamide showed synergistic effects against NKTCL both in vitro and in vivo and deserves further exploration in clinical trials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Previous studies demonstrated that elevated brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is associated with adverse clinical outcomes of acute cerebral infarction (ACI). Researchers hypothesized that BNP might be a potential neuroprotective factor against cerebral ischemia because of the antagonistic effect of the natriuretic peptide system on the renin-angiotensin system and regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis. However, whether decreasing the BNP level can improve the prognosis of ACI has not been studied yet. The main effect of sacubitril/valsartan is to enhance the natriuretic peptide system. We investigated whether the intervention of plasma BNP levels with sacubitril/valsartan could improve the prognosis of patients with ACI. METHODS In a randomized, controlled, parallel-group trial of patients with ACI within 48 hours of symptom onset and need for antihypertensive therapy, patients have randomized within 24 hours to sacubitril/valsartan 200mg once daily (the intervention group) or to conventional medical medication (the control group). The primary outcome was a change in plasma BNP levels before and after sacubitril/valsartan administration. The secondary outcomes included plasma levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), Corin and neprilysin (NEP) before and after medication, the modified Rankin scale, and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (at onset, at discharge, 30 days, and 90 days after discharge). RESULTS We evaluated 80 eligible patients admitted to the Stroke Center of Lianyungang Second People's Hospital between 1st May, 2021 and 31st June, 2022. Except for 28 patients excluded before randomization and 14 patients who did not meet the criteria or dropped out or lost to follow-up during the trial, the remaining 38 patients (intervention group: 17, control group: 21) had well-balanced baseline features. In this trial, we found that plasma BNP levels (P = 0.003) decreased and NEP levels (P = 0.006) increased in enrolled patients after treatment with sacubitril/valsartan. There were no differences in plasma BDNF and Corin levels between the two groups. Furthermore, no difference in functional prognosis was observed between the two groups (all P values>0.05). CONCLUSIONS Sacubitril/valsartan reduced endogenous plasma BNP levels in patients with ACI and did not affect their short-term prognosis.

Abstract
Deep learning algorithms have led to a series of breakthroughs in computer vision, acoustical signal processing, and others. However, they have only been popularized recently due to the groundbreaking techniques developed for training deep architectures. Understanding the training techniques is important if we want to further improve them. Through extensive experimentation, Erhan et al. (2010) empirically illustrated that unsupervised pretraining has an effect of regularization for deep learning algorithms. However, theoretical justifications for the observation remain elusive. In this article, we provide theoretical supports by analyzing how unsupervised pretraining regularizes deep learning algorithms. Specifically, we interpret deep learning algorithms as the traditional Tikhonov-regularized batch learning algorithms that simultaneously learn predictors in the input feature spaces and the parameters of the neural networks to produce the Tikhonov matrices. We prove that unsupervised pretraining helps in learning meaningful Tikhonov matrices, which will make the deep learning algorithms uniformly stable and the learned predictor will generalize fast w.r.t. the sample size. Unsupervised pretraining, therefore, can be interpreted as to have the function of regularization.

Abstract
Decomposing data matrix into low-rank plus additive matrices is a commonly used strategy in pattern recognition and machine learning. This article mainly studies the alternating direction method of multiplier (ADMM) with two dual variables, which is used to optimize the generalized nonconvex nonsmooth low-rank matrix recovery problems. Furthermore, the minimization framework with a feasible optimization procedure is designed along with the theoretical analysis, where the variable sequences generated by the proposed ADMM can be proved to be bounded. Most importantly, it can be concluded from the Bolzano-Weierstrass theorem that there must exist a subsequence converging to a critical point, which satisfies the Karush-Kuhn-Tucher (KKT) conditions. Meanwhile, we further ensure the local and global convergence properties of the generated sequence relying on constructing the potential objective function. Particularly, the detailed convergence analysis would be regarded as one of the core contributions besides the algorithm designs and the model generality. Finally, the numerical simulations and the real-world applications are both provided to verify the consistence of the theoretical results, and we also validate the superiority in performance over several mostly related solvers to the tasks of image inpainting and subspace clustering.

Abstract
Antarctica's response to climate change varies greatly both spatially and temporally. Surface melting impacts mass balance and also lowers surface albedo. We use a 43-year record (from 1978 to 2020) of Antarctic snow melt seasons from space-borne microwave radiometers with a machine-learning algorithm to show that both the onset and the end of the melt season are being delayed. Granger-causality analysis shows that melt end is delayed due to increased heat flux from the ocean to the atmosphere at minimum sea-ice extent from warming oceans. Melt onset is Granger-caused primarily by the turbulent heat flux from ocean to atmosphere that is in turn driven by sea-ice variability. Delayed snowmelt season leads to a net decrease in the absorption of solar irradiance, as a delayed summer means that higher albedo occurs after the period of maximum solar radiation, which changes Antarctica's radiation balance more than sea-ice cover.

Abstract
Tumour metabolism is a major focus of cancer research, and metabolic reprogramming is an important feature of malignant tumours. Serine is an important non-essential amino acid, which is a main resource of one-carbon units in tumours. Cancer cells proliferate more than normal cells and require more serine for proliferation. The cancer-related genes that are involved in serine metabolism also show changes corresponding to metabolic alterations. Here, we reviewed the serine-associated one-carbon metabolism and its potential as a target for anti-tumour therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND While statins have been widely used in patients with large-artery atherosclerotic stroke, their effectiveness in patients with cardioembolic large vessel occlusion (CE-LVO) undergoing endovascular treatment (EVT) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate whether combining statin therapy with EVT could improve clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke caused by CE-LVO in the anterior circulation. METHODS We performed a retrospective screening on patients with CE-LVO in the anterior circulation who underwent EVT in 27 hospitals across China between 2018 and 2021. The primary outcome measure was functional independence, defined as a 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0 to 2. Safety outcomes included 90-day mortality and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH). RESULTS A total of 510 patients with CE-LVO in the anterior circulation undergoing EVT were included in this study. Of these, 404 (79.2%) patients received statin treatment (statin group), while 106 (20.8%) did not (non-statin group). Statin treatment was significantly associated with improved functional independence (adjusted OR (aOR) 2.072, 95% CI 1.197 to 3.586, P=0.009). Moreover, statin use was associated with a lower rate of 90-day mortality (aOR 0.343, 95% CI 0.197 to 0.596, P<0.001) and a lower rate of sICH (aOR 0.153, 95% CI 0.072 to 0.325, P<0.001). CONCLUSION Statin treatment was associated with improved clinical outcomes and reduced risks of mortality and sICH in patients with CE-LVO in the anterior circulation undergoing EVT.

Abstract
We consider a resource-efficient pilot design for visible light communication (VLC) system employing direct-current offset orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM). Firstly, we experimentally verify that the normalized channel gain vectors remain approximately the same at different locations under a line-of-sight (LOS) path between the transmitter and the receiver. Then, under the constant normalized subcarrier gain assumption, it is proved that a single pilot subcarrier is optimal to maximize the achievable rate without signal clipping. The impact of power budget and statistical channel characteristics is investigated regarding the optimal pilot position and the related achievable rate. We extend the pilot position optimization to a general case considering the light-emitting diode (LED) and power amplifier (PA) with a limited linear dynamic range. Assuming double-sided clipping, the impact of LED upper saturation voltage and statistical channel characteristics on the optimal pilot position and the achievable rate is investigated via the Bussgang theorem. Finally, under constant normalized link gain assumption, we propose a blind channel estimation approach based on the covariance of frequency-domain outputs. The convergence of the proposed channel estimation approaches based on constant normalized link gain is verified experimentally.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM DRP1 and OPA1 play important roles in mitochondrial fusion and fission. However, the role of DRP1 and OPA1 amplification in mitochondrial cognitive impairment has not been reported. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between DRP1 and OPA1 and the risk of cognitive impairment. METHODS In this study, 45 elderly patients with diabetes admitted to the Lianyungang Second People's Hospital from September 2020 to January 2021 were included. The patients were divided into normal group, mild cognitive impairment group and dementia group by using MMSE score, and the clinical characteristics of the three groups were compared. The amplification multiples of the two genes' DNA were calculated by ΔΔCT and defined as 2- K. Spearman rank correlation was used to analyze the correlation between the DNA amplification multiples of patients' DRP1 and OPA1 and AD8 and MoCA scores. The sensitivity and specificity of DNA amplification multiples of DRP1 and OPA1 to predict clinical outcomes of diabetic cognitive impairment were evaluated using Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves. Multiple logistic regression was used to evaluate the relationship between DNA amplification factor of DRP1 and OPA1 and cognitive function. RESULTS DRP1(2- K) and OPA1(2- K) significantly increased and decreased in dementia and MCI groups compared with the normal group (P ≤ 0.001). The DNA amplification factor of DRP1 was positively correlated with AD8 score and negatively correlated with MoCA score (P < 0.001). The DNA amplification factor of OPA1 was positively correlated with the MoCA score (P = 0.0002). Analysis of ROCs showed that the DNA amplification factor of OPA1 had a higher predictive value for dementia (P < 0.0001), and that it had a higher predictive value when used in combination with DRP1. Multiple logistic regression results showed that increased DNA amplification in DRP1 was associated with increased risk of dementia (OR 1.149;95%CI,1.035-1.275), and increased DNA amplification in OPA1 was associated with decreased risk of MCI (OR 0.004;95%CI,0.000-0.251) and dementia (OR 0.000;95%CI,0.000-0.134). CONCLUSION DNA amplification multiples of DRP1 and OPA1 are associated with the risk of dementia in elderly patients and may serve as potential biomarkers.

Abstract
The integration of functional modules at the molecular level into RNA nanostructures holds great potential for expanding their applications. However, the quantitative integration of nucleoside analogue molecules into RNA nanostructures and their impact on the structure and function of RNA nanostructures remain largely unexplored. Here, we report a transcription-based approach to controllably integrate multiple nucleoside analogues into a 2000 nucleotide (nt) single-stranded RNA (ssRNA) origami nanostructure. The resulting integrated ssRNA origami preserves the morphology and biostability of the original ssRNA origami. Moreover, the integration of nucleoside analogues introduced new biomedical functions to ssRNA origamis, including innate immune recognition and regulation after the precise integration of epigenetic nucleoside analogues and synergistic effects on tumor cell killing after integration of therapeutic nucleoside analogues. This study provides a promising approach for the quantitative integration of functional nucleoside analogues into RNA nanostructures at the molecular level, thereby offering valuable insights for the development of multifunctional ssRNA origamis.

Abstract
Introduction Prediction of post-stroke functional outcome is important for personalized rehabilitation treatment, we aimed to develop an effective nomogram for predicting long-term unfavorable functional outcomes in ischemic stroke patients after acute phase. Methods We retrospectively analyzed clinical data, rehabilitation data, and longitudinal follow-up data from ischemic stroke patients who underwent early rehabilitation at multiple centers in China. An unfavorable functional outcome was defined as a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 3-6 at 90 days after onset. Patients were randomly allocated to either a training or test cohort in a ratio of 4:1. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify the predictors for the development of a predictive nomogram. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was used to evaluate predictive ability in both the training and test cohorts. Results A total of 856 patients (training cohort: n = 684; test cohort: n = 172) were included in this study. Among them, 518 patients experienced unfavorable outcomes 90 days after ischemic stroke. Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment classification (p = 0.024), antihypertensive agents use [odds ratio (OR) = 1.86; p = 0.041], 15-day Barthel Index score (OR = 0.930; p < 0.001) and 15-day mRS score (OR = 13.494; p < 0.001) were selected as predictors for the unfavorable outcome nomogram. The nomogram model showed good predictive performance in both the training (AUC = 0.950) and test cohorts (AUC = 0.942). Conclusion The constructed nomogram model could be a practical tool for predicting unfavorable functional outcomes in ischemic stroke patients underwent early rehabilitation after acute phase.

Abstract
Contrastive learning (CL) is a prominent technique for self-supervised representation learning, which aims to contrast semantically similar (i.e., positive) and dissimilar (i.e., negative) pairs of examples under different augmented views. Recently, CL has provided unprecedented potential for learning expressive graph representations without external supervision. In graph CL, the negative nodes are typically uniformly sampled from augmented views to formulate the contrastive objective. However, this uniform negative sampling strategy limits the expressive power of contrastive models. To be specific, not all the negative nodes can provide sufficiently meaningful knowledge for effective contrastive representation learning. In addition, the negative nodes that are semantically similar to the anchor are undesirably repelled from it, leading to degraded model performance. To address these limitations, in this article, we devise an adaptive sampling strategy termed "AdaS." The proposed AdaS framework can be trained to adaptively encode the importance of different negative nodes, so as to encourage learning from the most informative graph nodes. Meanwhile, an auxiliary polarization regularizer is proposed to suppress the adverse impacts of the false negatives and enhance the discrimination ability of AdaS. The experimental results on a variety of real-world datasets firmly verify the effectiveness of our AdaS in improving the performance of graph CL.

Abstract
Objective Untreated protracted bacterial bronchitis (PBB), a chronic wet cough prevalent in children, may lead to chronic suppurative lung disease. However, clinical diagnostic criteria are currently nonspecific; thus, PBB may be misdiagnosed. Thus, we assessed the diagnostic value of fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) and the risk factors associated with PBB. Methods Children with chronic cough at The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2015 to May 2020 were enrolled and allocated to a suspected PBB (n = 141) or a non-PBB (n = 206) group. All children underwent extensive laboratory, chest imaging, and allergen tests. Children with suspected PBB underwent FOB with bronchoalveolar lavage; lavage and sputum samples were cultured. Results All 347 children had a chronic wet cough for approximately 2 months. Of 141 children with suspected PBB, 140 received FOB with bronchoalveolar lavage. Visible tracheal changes included pale mucosa, mucosal congestion, edema, swelling, and increased secretions attached to the wall. Sputum was visible primarily in the left main bronchus (78.7%), left lower lobe (59.6%), right upper lobe (62.4%), and right lower lobe (64.5%). Sputum properties and amounts significantly differed between children with vs. without PBB (P < 0.05). Dermatophagoides (odds ratio (OR), 2.642; 95% CI, 1.283-5.369), milk protein (OR, 2.452; 95% CI, 1.243-4.836) allergies, and eczema (OR, 1.763; 95% CI, 1.011-3.075) were risk factors significantly associated with PBB. Conclusion Dermatophagoides, milk protein, and eczema were associated with an increased risk of PBB. Sputum distribution and tracheal wall changes observed through FOB may distinguish PBB and assist in its diagnosis.

Abstract
Considering strong signal attenuation of the large-angle non-line-of-sight (NLOS) link achieved due to the ultraviolet (UV) scattering properties, we propose to increase the UV communication link gain under a large scattering angle via generating agglomerate fog within a certain range as a secondary light source. In this study, a channel model with locally strong scatterers from agglomerate fog is proposed based on Monte Carlo ray-tracing approaches. Mie theory is adopted to calculate the atmospheric channel parameters, to further evaluate the link gain of a channel under non-uniform atmosphere. The performance of scattering system in the presence of fog conditions depends on the relative positions of the light source to the fog and to the receiver. The link gain results reveal the transmission capabilities for different scattering channel geometries, and give the optimal spray point location within a 10 m communication range. We further establish a foggy NLOS system using an agglomerate fog generator to verify our research in the real environment. The results show that the received signal strength of the NLOS link can be effectively enhanced by constructing scatterers in the atmospheric channel, which significantly decreases the bit-error rate (BER).

Abstract
BACKGROUND The study aims to explore the role of A1BG antisense RNA 1 (A1BG-AS1), microRNA (miR)-148a-3p and ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22) on osteosarcoma (OS) cell growth. RESEARCH DESIGN & METHODS A1BG-AS1, miR-148a-3p, USP22, and silent information regulator 2 homolog 1 (SIRT1) levels in OS tissues and cells were determined. The effects of A1BG-AS1, miR-148a-3p, and USP22 on the biological functions of OS cells were examined by functional assays. In vivo assay was conducted to observe the effect of A1BG-AS1 on OS growth in vitro. The relationship of A1BG-AS1, miR-148a-3p, and USP22 was analyzed by bioinformatics analysis, RNA-fluorescence in situ hybridization, luciferase activity, and RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation assays. The relation between USP22 and SIRT1 was evaluated by immunoprecipitation. RESULTS A1BG-AS1 and USP22 were highly expressed, and miR-148a-3p was lowly expressed in OS tissues and cells. Down-regulation of A1BG-AS1 and USP22 or up-regulation of miR-148a-3p impaired the malignant behaviors of OS cells. A1BG-AS1 sponged miR-148a-3p, and miR-148a-3p targeted USP22, thereby inhibiting USP22 expression. Up-regulating USP22 reversed the A1BG-AS1 suppression-induced phenotypic inhibition of OS cells. USP22 affected the biological functions of OS cells by deubiquitinating SIRT1. CONCLUSION A1BG-AS1 facilitates the biological functions of OS cells via mediating the miR-148a-3p/USP22 axis.

Abstract
Synthesis of highly active and durable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts applied in acidic water electrolysis remains a grand challenge. Here, we construct a type of high-loading iridium single atom catalysts with tunable d-band holes character (h-HL-Ir SACs, ~17.2 wt% Ir) realized in the early OER operation stages. The in-situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals that the quantity of the d-band holes of Ir active sites can be fast increased by 0.56 unit from the open circuit to a low working potential of 1.35 V. More remarkably, in-situ synchrotron infrared and Raman spectroscopies demonstrate the quick accumulation of *OOH and *OH intermediates over holes-modulated Ir sites in the early reaction voltages, achieving a rapid OER kinetics. As a result, this well-designed h-HL-Ir SACs exhibits superior performance for acidic OER with overpotentials of 216 mV @10 mA cm-2 and 259 mV @100 mA cm-2, corresponding to a small Tafel slope of 43 mV dec-1. The activity of catalyst shows no evident attenuation after 60 h operation in acidic environment. This work provides some useful hints for the design of superior acidic OER catalysts.

Abstract
This is the first pilot meta-analysis on the association of prenatal phthalate exposure with childhood cardiometabolic risks. A systematic literature search was performed in MEDLINE, Web of Science and CNKI (Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure) until June 5, 2023. A total of seven studies with 5746 children (2646 girls and 3100 boys) were finally included. Four, three and two studies investigated the effects of maternal phthalate exposure on childhood blood pressure (BP), blood lipids and blood glucose profiles, respectively. The pilot meta-analysis suggested that di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) metabolite exposure was associated with a decrease in childhood z-systolic BP (SBP, β = -0.169, 95% CI = -0.338-0.001). Furthermore, the pooled results showed negative relationships of prenatal ∑DEHP exposure with z-SBP (β = -0.109, 95% CI = -0.163 to -0.055) and z-diastolic BP (DBP, β = -0.126, 95% CI = -0.182 to -0.069) in girls. In addition, MEP exposure was associated with z-SBP in girls (β = -0.227, 95% CI = -0.387 to -0.066). The pooled result showed a positive relationship between prenatal ∑DEHP exposure and triglycerides (β = 0.103, 95% CI = 0.028-0.178). The overall results revealed that exposure to ∑DEHP throughout gestation was associated with a decrease in insulin (β = -0.074, 95% CI = -0.144 to -0.004) and glucose (β = -0.129, 95% CI = -0.199 to -0.058) in boys. Interestingly, there was an inverse relationship of prenatal mono- 3 -carboxypropyl phthalate (MCPP) exposure with glucose in pubertal boys (β = -3.749, 95% CIs = -6.758 to -0.741) but not found in postpubertal children. In conclusion, prenatal phthalate exposure interfered with cardiovascular risk in children with gender-specific differences and was influenced by puberty. Overall, prenatal ∑DEHP was negatively associated with systolic blood pressure in girls and with insulin and glucose in boys but increased the level of triglycerides.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the expected population impact of benefit and risk of aspirin treatment strategies for the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases recommended by different guidelines in the Chinese Electronic Health Records Research in Yinzhou (CHERRY) study. METHODS A decision-analytic Markov model was used to simulate and compare different strategies of aspirin treatment, including: Strategy ①: Aspirin treatment for Chinese adults aged 40-69 years with a high 10-year cardiovascular risk, recommended by the 2020 Chinese Guideline on the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases; Strategy ②: Aspirin treatment for Chinese adults aged 40-59 years with a high 10-year cardiovascular risk, recommended by the 2022 United States Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement on Aspirin Use to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease; Strategy ③: Aspirin treatment for Chinese adults aged 40-69 years with a high 10-year cardiovascular risk and blood pressure well-controlled (< 150/90 mmHg), recommended by the 2019 Guideline on the Assessment and Management of Cardio-vascular Risk in China. The high 10-year cardiovascular risk was defined as the 10-year predicted risk over 10% based on the 2019 World Health Organization non-laboratory model. The Markov model simulated different strategies for ten years (cycles) with parameters mainly from the CHERRY study or published literature. Quality-adjusted life year (QALY) and the number needed to treat (NNT) for each ischemic event (including myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke) were calculated to assess the effectiveness of the different strategies. The number needed to harm (NNH) for each bleeding event (including hemorrhagic stroke and gastrointestinal bleeding) was calculated to assess the safety. The NNT for each net benefit (i.e., the difference of the number of ischemic events could be prevented and the number of bleeding events would be added) was also calculated. One-way sensitivity analysis on the uncertainty of the incidence rate of cardiovascular diseases and probabilistic sensitivity analysis on the uncertainty of hazard ratios of interventions were conducted. RESULTS A total of 212 153 Chinese adults, were included in this study. The number of people who were recommended for aspirin treatment Strategies ①-③ was 34 235, 2 813, and 25 111, respectively. The Strategy ③ could gain the most QALY of 403 [95% uncertainty interval (UI): 222-511] years. Compared with Strategy ①, Strategy ③ had similar efficiency but better safety, with the extra NNT of 4 (95%UI: 3-4) and NNH of 39 (95%UI: 19-132). The NNT per net benefit was 131 (95%UI: 102-239) for Strategy ①, 256 (95%UI: 181-737) for Strategy ②, and 132 (95%UI: 104-232) for Strategy ③, making Strategy ③ the most favorable option with a better QALY and safety, along with similar efficiency in terms of net benefit. The results were consistent in the sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION The aspirin treatment strategies recommended by the updated guidelines on the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases showed a net benefit for high-risk Chinese adults from developed areas. However, to balance effectiveness and safety, aspirin is suggested to be used for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases with consideration for blood pressure control, resulting in better intervention efficiency.

Abstract
Purpose Many patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) cannot undergo thrombolysis or thrombectomy because they have missed the time window or do not meet the treatment criteria. In addition, there is a lack of an available tool to predict the prognosis of patients with standardized treatment. This study aimed to develop a dynamic nomogram to predict the 3-month poor outcomes in patients with AIS. Methods This was a retrospective multicenter study. We collected the clinical data of patients with AIS who underwent standardized treatment at the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang from 1 October 2019 to 31 December 2021 and at the Second People's Hospital of Lianyungang from 1 January 2022 to 17 July 2022. Baseline demographic, clinical, and laboratory information of patients were recorded. The outcome was the 3-month modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression were used to select the optimal predictive factors. Multiple logistic regression was performed to establish the nomogram. A decision curve analysis (DCA) was applied to assess the clinical benefit of the nomogram. The calibration and discrimination properties of the nomogram were validated by calibration plots and the concordance index. Results A total of 823 eligible patients were enrolled. The final model included gender (male; OR 0.555; 95% CI, 0.378-0.813), systolic blood pressure (SBP; OR 1.006; 95% CI, 0.996-1.016), free triiodothyronine (FT3; OR 0.841; 95% CI, 0.629-1.124), National Institutes of Health stroke scale (NIHSS; OR 18.074; 95% CI, 12.264-27.054), Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST; cardioembolic (OR 0.736; 95% CI, 0.396-1.36); and other subtypes (OR 0.398; 95% CI, 0.257-0.609). The nomogram showed good calibration and discrimination (C-index, 0.858; 95% CI, 0.830-0.886). DCA confirmed the clinical usefulness of the model. The dynamic nomogram can be obtained at the website: predict model (90-day prognosis of AIS patients). Conclusion We established a dynamic nomogram based on gender, SBP, FT3, NIHSS, and TOAST, which calculated the probability of 90-day poor prognosis in AIS patients with standardized treatment.

Abstract
Cancer is a top global public health concern. At present, molecular targeted therapy has emerged as one of the main therapies for cancer, with high efficacy and safety. The medical world continues to struggle with the development of efficient, extremely selective, and low-toxicity anticancer medications. Heterocyclic scaffolds based on the molecular structure of tumor therapeutic targets are widely used in anticancer drug design. In addition, a revolution in medicine has been brought on by the quick advancement of nanotechnology. Many nanomedicines have taken targeted cancer therapy to a new level. In this review, we highlight heterocyclic molecular-targeted drugs as well as heterocyclic-associated nanomedicines in cancer.
