Abstract
OBJECTIVES Concomitant COVID-19 and influenza vaccination would be an efficient strategy. Although the co-administration of monovalent COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations showed acceptable immunogenicity, it remains unknown whether the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine could intensify immune interference. We aimed to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of concomitant BA.5-based bivalent COVID-19 and influenza vaccination. METHODS An open-label, nonrandomized clinical trial was conducted for 154 age-matched and sex-matched healthy adults between October 2022 and December 2022. Participants received either a concomitant bivalent COVID-19 mRNA booster and quadrivalent influenza vaccination (group C) or separate vaccinations (group S) at least 4 weeks apart. Solicited and unsolicited adverse events were reported up to 6 months postvaccination. Immunogenicity was evaluated by anti-spike (S) IgG electrochemiluminescence immunoassay, focus reduction neutralization test, and hemagglutination inhibition assay. RESULTS Group C did not meet the noninferiority criteria for the seroconversion rates of anti-S IgG and neutralizing antibodies against the wild-type SARS-CoV-2 strain compared with group S (44.2% vs. 46.8%, difference of -2.6% [95% CI, -18 to 13.4]; 44.2% vs. 57.1%, difference of -13.0% [95% CI to -28.9 to 2.9]). However, group C showed a stronger postvaccination neutralizing antibody response against Omicron BA.5 (72.7% vs. 64.9%). Postvaccination geometric mean titers for SARS-CoV-2 and influenza strains were similar between groups, except for influenza B/Victoria. Most adverse events were mild and comparable between the study groups. DISCUSSION Concomitant administration of bivalent COVID-19 mRNA and quadrivalent influenza vaccines showed tolerable safety profiles and sufficient immunogenicity, particularly attenuating immune imprinting induced by previous ancestral vaccine strains.

Abstract
Over the past couple of decades, immense research has been carried out to understand the photo-physics of an organic solar cell (OSC) that is important to enhance its efficiency and stability. Since OSCs undergoes complex photophysical phenomenon, studying these factors has led to designing new materials and implementing new strategies to improve efficiency in OSCs. In this regard, the invention of the non-fullerene acceptorshas greatly revolutionized the understanding of the fundamental processes occurring in OSCs. However, such vital fundamental research from device physics perspectives is carried out on glovebox (GB) processed OSCs and there is a scarcity of research on air-processed (AP) OSCs. This review will focus on charge carrier dynamics such as exciton diffusion, exciton dissociation, charge-transfer states, significance of highest occupied molecular orbital-offsets, and hole-transfer efficiencies of GB-OSCs and compare them with the available data from the AP-OSCs. Finally, key requirements for the fabrication of efficient AP-OSCs will be presented from a charge-carrier dynamics perspective. The key aspects from the charge-carrier dynamics view to fabricate efficient OSCs either from GB or air are provided.

Abstract
Phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) can be used as a passivation material in perovskite solar cells (PeSCs) in order to reduce the trap site of the perovskite. Here, we show that a thick PCBM layer can form a smoother surface on the SnO2 substrate, improving the grain size and reducing the microstrain of the perovskite. High-temperature annealing treatment of PCBM layer not only increases its solvent resistance to perovskite precursor or antisolvent, but also enhances its molecular alignment, resulting in improved conductivity as an electron transport layer. High-temperature annealed PCBM (HT-PCBM) effectively minimizes trap-assisted nonradiative recombination by reducing trap density in perovskite and improving the electrical properties at the interface between SnO2 and perovskite layers. This HT-PCBM process significantly enhances the performance of the PeSCs, including the open-circuit voltage (VOC) from 0.39 to 0.77 V, fill factor from 52% to 65%, and power conversion efficiency (PCE) from 6.03% to 15.50%, representing substantial improvements compared to devices without PCBM. This PCE is the highest efficiency among conventional (n-i-p) Sn-Pb PeSCs reported to date. Moreover, passivating the trap sites of SnO2 and separating the interface between the Sn-containing perovskite and the substrate effectively have improved the stability of the Sn-Pb perovskite in the n-i-p structure. The optimized best device with HT-PCBM has maintained an efficiency of over 90% for more than 300 h at 85 °C and 5000 h at room temperature in a glovebox atmosphere.

Abstract
Obesity is a well-established risk factor for various malignancies and emerging evidence suggests that adipokines play a pivotal role in linking excess adiposity to tumorigenesis. Adipokines are bioactive molecules secreted by adipose tissue and their altered expression in obesity contributes to a pro-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic, and growth-promoting microenvironment conducive to tumorigenesis. Leptin, a key adipokine, activates survival and proliferative signaling pathways whereas adiponectin exhibits tumor-suppressive effects by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Visfatin has also been documented to promote tumor growth, angiogenesis, migration, and invasion. Moreover, emerging studies suggest that adipokines, such as resistin, apelin, and chemerin, which are overexpressed in obesity, may also possess oncogenic functions. Despite advancements in our understanding of the roles of individual adipokines in cancer, the intricate interplay and crosstalk between adipokines, tumor cells, and the tumor microenvironment remain complex and multifaceted. This review highlights the evolving knowledge of how adipokines contribute to obesity-related tumorigenesis, shedding light on the potential of targeting adipokine signaling pathways as a novel therapeutic approach for obesity-associated cancers. Further research on the specific mechanisms and interactions between adipokines and tumor cells is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of obesity-associated cancer pathogenesis.

Abstract
FJH-KO obtained from Antarctic krill, especially Euphausia superba, has been reported to contain high amounts of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) and to exhibit anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. However, its antithrombotic effects have not yet been reported. This study aimed to investigate the antithrombotic effects of FJH-KO in carrageenan-induced thrombosis mouse models and human endothelial cells. Thrombosis was induced by carrageenan injection, whereas the mice received FJH-KO pretreatment. FJH-KO attenuated carrageenan-induced thrombus formation in mouse tissue vessels and prolonged tail bleeding. The inhibitory effect of FJH-KO was associated with decreased plasma levels of thromboxane B2, P-selectin, endothelin-1, β-thromboglobulin, platelet factor 4, serotonin, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. Meanwhile, FJH-KO induced plasma levels of prostacyclin I2 and plasminogen. In vitro, FJH-KO decreased the adhesion of THP-1 monocytes to human endothelial cells stimulated by TNF-α via eNOS activation and NO production. Furthermore, FJH-KO inhibited the expression of TNF-α-induced adhesion molecules such as ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 by suppressing the NF-κB signaling pathway. Taken together, our study demonstrates that FJH-KO protects against carrageenan-induced thrombosis by regulating endothelial cell activation and has potential as an antithrombotic agent.

Abstract
Managing chronic axillary seroma after breast cancer surgery is troublesome because of the challenges in obliterating the seroma pocket and the possible injury to the axillary neurovascular bundles during the procedure. Using the muscle sling technique, we successfully managed an axillary chronic seroma patient after mastectomy with a latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous (LDMC) flap.A 64-year-old woman with right breast cancer underwent radical mastectomy with axillary lymph node dissection 17 years ago. A mass of chronic seroma was observed in the right axilla 1 year postoperatively and gradually increased in size. The refractory seroma was excised. The LDMC flap was designed to obliterate the pocket, rotated counterclockwise, and fixed to the upper boundary of the pectoralis major in a U-shaped sling. In this way, the direct suture of the flap to the vessels-crossing axillary apex could be avoided, and the flap's lymphatic-rich fat tissue promoted alternative lymphatic drainage that improved lymphedema.

Abstract
Thickening of the cervical ligamentum flavum (CLF) has been considered as a main cause of cervical spinal stenosis (CSS). A previous study reported that cervical ligamentum flavum thickness (CLFT) is correlated with CSS. However, the whole hypertrophy is different from focal thickness. Therefore, to analyze hypertrophy of the CLF, we created a new morphological parameter, called the cervical ligamentum flavum area (CLFA). We hypothesized that the CLFA is an important morphological parameter in the diagnosis of CSS. CLF samples were acquired from 83 patients with CSS, and from 84 controls who underwent cervical magnetic resonance imaging (C-MRI). T2-weighted axial C-MRI images were acquired. We measured the CLFA and CLFT at the C6-C7 intervertebral level on C-MRI using appropriate image analysis software. The CLFA was measured as the cross-sectional area of the entire CLF at the level of C6-C7 stenosis. The CLFT was measured by drawing a straight line along the ligament side towards the spinal canal at the C6-C7 level. Mean CLFA was 25.24 ± 6.43 mm2 in the control group and 45.34 ± 9.09 mm2 in the CSS group. The average CLFT was 1.48 ± 0.28 mm in the control group and 2.09 ± 0.35 mm in the CSS group. CSS patients had significantly higher CLFA (P < .01) and CLFT (P < .01). For the validity of both CLFA and CLFT as predictors of CSS, a receiver operating characteristic curve analysis revealed an optimal cutoff point for the CLFA was 31.66 mm2, a sensitivity of 92.8%, specificity of 88.4%, and an area under the curve of 0.97 (95% CI, 0.94-0.99). The optimal cut off-point of the CLFT was 1.79 mm, with a sensitivity of 83.5%, specificity of 84.5%, and an area under the curve of 0.92 (95% CI, 0.87-0.96). Both CLFT and CLFA were significantly related to CSS, but CLFA was the more sensitive measurement parameter. Therefore, to evaluate patients with CSS, treating physicians should test for CLFA.

Abstract
Introduction Non-genetic factors are important but poorly understood determinants of immune profiles. Age and Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection remain two well documented non-genetic determinants of the immune profile. Recently, one study identified cohabitation in the same household as an important determinant of immune profiles. Methods We used immunophenotyping data from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) to evaluate the association between cohabitation and the adaptive (subsets of T-cells, B-cells) and innate immune profiles (subsets of monocytes, natural killer cells and neutrophils). We compared adaptive and innate immune cell profiles using immunophenotyping data from 1184 same-household pairs (cohabitating partners) to 1184 non-household pairs to evaluate the association between cohabitation and adaptive immune cell profiles. We used data from 1737 same-household pairs and 1737 non-household pairs to evaluate the association between cohabitation and innate cell profiles. Household and non-household pairs were matched on age (±2years), educational background and race/ethnicity to minimize confounding due to these factors. The adaptive immune cells and innate immune cell profiles were compressed to two coordinates using multidimensional scaling (MDS). The Euclidean distances between same-household pairs were compared to the distances between non-household pairs for the adaptive and innate cell profiles separately using two sample independent t-tests. We also performed additional adjustment for age and BMI differences, CMV serostatus and smoking concordance/discordance status among household members. Results For adaptive immune cell profiles, the mean Euclidean distance between same-household pairs was 4% lower than the non-household pairs (p = 0.03). When stratified by concordance for CMV serostatus among household pairs, the Euclidean distance was significantly lower by 8% in the same-household pairs as compared to non-household pairs among those who were discordant for CMV serostatus (p = 0.01) and among same-household pairs who were CMV seronegative (p = 0.02) after covariate adjustment. The mean Euclidian distance between same-household pairs was also 8% lower than non-household pairs for the innate immune cell profiles (p-value <0.0001) and this difference remained consistent across all strata of CMV infection. Discussion This study confirms that cohabitation is associated with similarity in immune cell profiles. The differential effects of cohabitation on the adaptive and innate immune profiles suggest that further studies into the common environmental factors that influence individual immune cell subsets need to be evaluated in greater detail.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM 5Y-PSZ-based zirconia dental restorations exhibit high translucency and good esthetics but have a higher fracture risk compared to 3Y-TZP. OBJECTIVES To investigate the effect of BruxZir SteelTM treatment on the fracture resistance of zirconia three-unit bridges prepared using 5Y-PSZ-based zirconia blanks. METHODS Three-unit zirconia bridges were milled using CAD/CAM from homogeneous bisque zirconia blanks (5Y-PSZ-based) supplied by various manufacturers and sintered. Their fracture resistance was analyzed by dynamic loading. For each zirconia blank, the fracture resistance of the sintered test restoration (cementation surface treated with BruxZir SteelTM) was compared with the sintered control restoration (untreated cementation surface). Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was used to analyze the stress distribution on the three-unit bridge under an axial load. RESULTS The fracture resistance of the test restorations was significantly higher than that of the control restorations for all the manufacturers considered in this study (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the restoration made of BruxZirⓇ Esthetic treated with BruxZir SteelTM had the highest fracture resistance compared to the other restorations. In addition, the three-unit bridge restorations prepared from 5Y-PSZ-based zirconia blocks exhibited differences in grain size and fracture toughness depending on the presence or absence of BruxZir SteelTM treatment. The locations of high stresses under FEA correlated well with the fracture locations in the corresponding experimental test. FEA also demonstrated the improved performance of BruxZir Steel-treated sample compared to the control. SIGNIFICANCE The fracture resistance of 5Y-PSZ-based BruxZir SteelTM-treated three-unit bridges was significantly higher (min. 30%, max. 198%) than control.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare, highly aggressive tumor, with median survival around 5 months. Approximately half of the ATC patients presents with distant metastases at diagnosis, showing even more devastating prognosis, yet no outcome analysis had been reported. In this study, we aim to evaluate the clinical outcome of M1 ATC patients, and to define the group of patients who would benefit from local treatment based on multi-disciplinary approach. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 133 histology-confirmed ATC patients underwent protocol-based multidisciplinary treatment including surgery and chemoradiotherapy (CRT) between May 2016 and January 2022. Patients received intensity-modulated radiotherapy of 30 fractions concurrently with paclitaxel on days 1, 8 and 15 every 4 weeks, and lenvatinib was added upon progression. After 18 fractions of CRT, interim response analysis using modified RECIST was conducted for adaptive treatment planning. We reviewed 58 patients with distant metastasis at diagnosis (stage IVC). Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were measured from the day of diagnosis. RESULTS Most common metastatic site was lung (91.4%), followed by bone (31.0%) and brain (5.2%). Lenvatinib was added for 35 patients after any sign of progression. Fourteen patients received upfront surgery (16 debulking and 5 total) followed by adjuvant CRT in 16 patients. Thirty-one patients received upfront CRT with 2 patients receiving total resection after sufficient down-staging. Six (10%) patients could not complete radiotherapy but continued receiving systemic treatment. The median follow-up was 5.9 months. The median and 1-year OS were 6.2 months and 20.5%, and PFS were 3.7 months and 3.5%. Total RT dose over 60 Gy significantly improved median OS (7.5 vs 4.1 months, p = 0.012) and median PFS (4.4 vs 3.0, p = 0.010). Patients with less than 10 initial metastatic tumors showed better median OS (9.1 vs 4.6 months, p = 0.002) but not PFS (5.1 vs 3.6, p = 0.485). At interim analysis, early response (CR, PR and SD) of primary tumor was not associated with survival, while progression of distant metastases showed significantly worse median OS (9.8 vs 4.6 months, p = 0.001). More than 10 metastatic tumors (HR 2.73, 95% CI 1.32-5.66) and stable metastasis at interim analysis (HR 2.39, 95% CI 1.04-5.48) remained as significant factor in the multivariable cox regression analysis. Median OS and PFS of patients with less than 10 metastases showing no progression at interim analysis were 9.1 months, and 5.1 months. CONCLUSION Local treatment combined with chemotherapy for M1 ATC patients showed outcome comparable to those of non-metastatic ATC results. Active local treatment should be considered especially for patients with less than 10 metastases, and patients without distant progression in early response evaluation.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) MR-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) provides superior soft-tissue contrast over CT-based image guidance. We collected and analyzed daily pre-treatment (PRE) and real-time motion-monitoring (MM) MR images of patients receiving prostate radiotherapy to assess interfractional and intrafractional variability of prostate using two localization methods: pelvic bony anatomy (bone) and prostate during online adaptive radiotherapy (ART). MATERIALS/METHODS PRE and MM MRIs for the first five fractions of twenty prostate cancer patients who received definitive MRgRT with 1.5T MRI were collected. Using MIM software, rigid registration between PRE MRI and planning CT images based on pelvic bony anatomy and prostate reproduced bone localization and online ART, respectively. To determine interfractional setup margin (SM), prostate was delineated on all PRE MRIs registered after bone and prostate localizations by a radiation oncologist, and centroid values of prostate contours between planning CT and PRE MRIs were compared. To determine interobserver variability, another radiation oncologist, a medical physicist, and a radiotherapist contoured prostate for both localization methods. For internal margin (IM) assessment, we used MM MRIs of the five patients who had all three sets of coronal, sagittal, and axial cine images and determined the maximum contour displacement using in-house MATLAB-based software converting binary image files to 2D cine images with a superimposed grid of 1 mm spacing. RESULTS A total of 100 PRE and 25 MM MRIs were analyzed. Four hundred prostate contours were delineated on MR images registered with planning CT based on both bony anatomy and prostate. After bone localization, SM was 0.57±0.42 mm in left-right (LR), 2.45±1.98 mm in anterior-posterior (AP), and 2.28±2.08 mm in superior-inferior (SI) directions, and IO was 1.06±0.58 mm in LR, 2.32±1.08 mm in AP, and 3.30±1.85 mm in SI directions. After prostate localization, SM was 0.76±0.57 mm in LR, 1.89±1.60 mm in AP, and 2.2±1.79 mm in SI directions, and IO was 1.11±0.55 mm in LR, 2.13±1.07 mm in AP, and 3.53±1.65 mm in SI directions. Average IM was 2.12±0.86 mm, 2.24±1.07 mm, and 2.84±0.88 mm in LR, AP, and SI directions, respectively. CONCLUSION Using daily MRIs from MRgRT, we showed that movements in the SI direction were the largest source of variability in prostate definitive RT. In addition, interobserver variability was a non-negligible source of margin. Optimal PTV margin should also consider internal margin, especially in the SI direction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In this study, we aimed to provide a more valuable diagnostic parameter and more equivocal assessment of the diagnostic potential of patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) by comparing the quadriceps tendon cross-sectional area (QTCSA) with the quadriceps tendon thickness (QTT), a traditional measure of quadriceps tendon hypertrophy. PATIENTS AND METHODS Between March 2014 and August 2020, a total of 30 patients with PFPS (16 males, 14 females; mean age, 30.4±11.2 years; range, 16 to 49 years) and 30 healthy individuals (19 males, 11 females; mean age: 30.8±13.8 years; range, 17 to 62 years) who underwent knee magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were retrospectively analyzed. T1-weighted turbo spin-echo transverse MRI scans were obtained. The QTCSA was measured on the axial angled phases of the images by drawing outlines, and the QTT was measured at the most hypertrophied quadriceps tendon. RESULTS The mean QTT and QTCSA in the patients with PFPS (6.33±0.80 mm and 155.77±36.60 mm2, respectively) were significantly higher than those in the control group (5.77±0.36 mm and 111.90±24.10 mm2, respectively; p<0.001, for both). The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to confirm the sensitivities and specificities for both the QTT and QTCSA as predictors of PFPS. The optimal diagnostic cut-off value for QTT was 5.98 mm, with a sensitivity of 66.7%, a specificity of 70.0%, and an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.75 (range, 0.62 to 0.88). The optimal diagnostic cut-off value for QTCSA was 121.04 mm2, with a sensitivity of 73.3%, a specificity of 70.0%, and an AUC of 0.83 (range, 0.74 to 0.93). CONCLUSION Based on our study results, the QTCSA seems to be a more reliable diagnostic indicator for PFPS than QTT.

Abstract
Thickened ligamentum flavum has been considered as a major cause of central lumbar spinal canal stenosis (CLSCS). Previous studies have demonstrated that ligamentum flavum thickness (LFT) is correlated with aging, degenerative spinal stenosis, and disc degeneration. Thus, hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum is a major cause of CLSCS, and measurement of LFT has been considered a morphologic parameter in the diagnosis of CLSCS. To our knowledge, comparison of LFT between central and lateral lesions has not been reported. In addition, no research has analyzed best clinical cutoff values of central ligament flavum thickness (CLFT) and lateral ligament flavum thickness (LLFT). This study aimed to compare CLFT with LLFT in patients with CLSCS and further compare the CLFT and LLFT findings between the 2 groups to analyze LFT variation. Both CLFT and LLFT samples were collected from 101 participants with CLSCS and from 103 participants in the control group who underwent lumbar magnetic resonance imaging without evidence of CLSCS. Axial T2-weighted lumbar magnetic resonance scans were acquired at the L4 to 5 facet joint level from each participant. Average CLFT value was 2.25 ± 0.51 mm in the control group and 4.02 ± 0.74 mm in the CLSCS group. Average LLFT value was 2.50 ± 0.51 mm in the control group and 3.38 ± 0.66 mm in the CLSCS group. CLSCS patients had significantly higher CLFT and LLFT (both P < .001). Regarding the validity of both CLFT and LLFT as predictors of CLSCS, a receiver operating characteristic estimation revealed that the most suitable cutoff value for CLFT was 3.10 mm, with sensitivity of 95.0%, specificity of 94.2%, and an area under the curve of 0.97. The best cut-off value of LLFT was 2.92 mm, with sensitivity of 78.2%, specificity of 77.7%, and area under the curve of 0.87. We have 4 important new findings: The mean CLFT is significantly lower than that of the mean LLFT in the normal control group; CLFT and LLFT are both significantly associated with CLSCS; Increase rate of CLFT is faster than that of LLFT in the CLSCS group; and CLFT is a more sensitive measurement parameter to predict CLSCS than LLFT.

Abstract
Enhanced device performance of flexible organic solar cells (FOSCs) was achieved according to the development of organic solar cells (OSCs). OSCs are promising candidates as energy sources for low-power supply systems such as the Internet of Things (IoT) under indoor lighting environments. To apply FOSCs to flexible or wearable applications, they must be mechanically stable. In this study, we fabricated FOSCs with silver nanomesh (AgNM) as the bottom transparent conductive electrode (TCE). Instead of indium tin oxide (ITO), AgNMs were prepared using three pitches of 25, 50, and 100 μm with a square pattern, using a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate. Notably, the device using AgNMs with a pitch of 25 μm exhibited a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.93% under 1 sun illumination and 17.91% under 1000 lux of light-emitting diode (LED) light conditions. Flexible devices using AgNMs maintained over 92% of their initial PCE under 1 sun illumination (PCE decreased to 12.98 from 14.04%) and over 92% when tested under 1000 lux of LED light illumination (PCE decreased to 16.57 from 17.91%) after 1000 instances of bending. These results demonstrate the advantages of using AgNMs as an alternative TCE under both 1 sun and indoor lightning environments and are promising candidates for flexible applications.

Abstract
PURPOSE To present a sample preparation and test methodology for evaluating the fracture resistance of ceramic materials configured in a way similar to the screw-access holes found in implant-supported ceramic full-arch devices. MATERIALS AND METHODS A finite-width rectangular plate with a central hole was designed to evaluate the critical stresses of ceramic full-arch screw-access holes. Different load scenarios were investigated by comparing forces applied to BruxZir Esthetic (Glidewell Laboratories) and BruxZir Esthetic enhanced with BruxZir Steel (Glidewell Laboratories) specimens. RESULTS Using the proposed test method, it was found that the fracture resistance of full-arch prostheses is largely dependent on the location of the screw-access hole and the inherent mechanical properties of the material (P < .001). CONCLUSION The finite-width plate model may be suitable for evaluating the fracture resistance of ceramic full-arch prostheses. The fracture resistance of 3D ceramic full-arch prostheses can be greatly improved by improving the mechanical properties of the material and/or increasing the wall thickness of the screw access hole by relocation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In the SOLO2 trial (ENGOT Ov-21; NCT01874353), maintenance olaparib in patients with platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer (PSROC) and BRCA mutation significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) and prolonged overall survival (OS). Following disease progression on olaparib, efficacy of subsequent chemotherapy remains unknown. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a post-hoc hypothesis-generating analysis of SOLO2 data to determine the efficacy of different chemotherapy regimens following RECIST disease progression in patients who received olaparib or placebo. We evaluated time to second progression (TTSP) calculated from the date of RECIST progression to the next progression/death. RESULTS The study population comprised 147 patients who received chemotherapy as their first subsequent treatment after RECIST progression. Of these, 69 (47%) and 78 (53%) were originally randomized to placebo and olaparib arms, respectively. In the placebo-treated cohort, 27/69 and 42/69 received non-platinum and platinum-based chemotherapy, respectively, compared with 24/78 and 54/78, respectively, in the olaparib-treated cohort. Among patients treated with chemotherapy (N = 147), TTSP was significantly longer in the placebo than in the olaparib arm: 12.1 versus 6.9 months [hazard ratio (HR) 2.17, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.47-3.19]. Similar result was obtained on multivariable analysis adjusting for prognostic factors at RECIST progression (HR 2.13, 95% CI 1.41-3.22). Among patients treated with platinum-based chemotherapy (n = 96), TTSP was significantly longer in the placebo arm: 14.3 versus 7.0 months (HR 2.89, 95% CI 1.73-4.82). Conversely, among patients treated with non-platinum-based chemotherapy (n = 51), the TTSP was comparable in the placebo and olaparib arms: 8.3 versus 6.0 months (HR 1.58, 95% CI 0.86-2.90). CONCLUSIONS Following progression from maintenance olaparib in the recurrent setting, the efficacy of platinum-based subsequent chemotherapy seems to be reduced in BRCA1/2-mutated patients with PSROC compared to patients not previously receiving poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). The optimal strategy for patients who relapse after PARPi is an area of ongoing research.

Abstract
The world's largest Sihwa Tidal Power Plant (TPP), located on the west coast of Korea, was built in 2011 for the purpose of improving water quality and producing renewable energy. After several years of actual operation, most of the original purpose was achieved, but unexpected coastal environmental changes such as tidal flat damage and sediment accumulation also occurred. In this study, in order to understand the causes of these environmental changes, field observations were conducted near TPP, and spatial and temporal variability of flow structure and water exchange process were investigated. Three-dimensional velocity data were collected along the closed line surrounding the outside of the TPP for 11 h during spring tide and analyzed according to two discharge phases: power generation phase (PGP) and drainage phase (DP). The results show that the depth-averaged maximum current velocity was more than three times greater at DP than at PGP. Jet-like flow during DP caused very high horizontal shear, whereas vertical shear was relatively weak, indicating that the horizontal and vertical flow structures were very different. The most notable result is that the mass transport patterns between PGP and DP are significantly different, i.e., during PGP, mass transport is dominated on the left side of the TPP, whereas during DP, it occurs at the front of the TPP. This means that there is a strong spatiotemporal asymmetry between the inflow from the downstream (outside of the TPP) during PGP and the outflow from the upstream (inside of the TPP) during DP. These asymmetric processes can have a significant impact on the material exchange and sediment transport near the TPP. Since observational studies on TPP are extremely rare, this study is expected to contribute to future TPP related research, such as numerical modeling.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The present study aimed to investigate the incidence of and risk factors for postoperative pneumonia and aspiration pneumonia after hip fracture surgery. DESIGN Retrospective cohort study from 2005 to 2021. SETTING Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Republic of Korea. PARTICIPANTS A total 1,208 patients aged ≥ 65 years who underwent hip fracture surgery. MEASUREMENTS Postoperative pneumonia was defined as cases with new infiltration on chest x-ray or chest computed tomography (CT) after surgery or confirmed by a pulmonologist's consultation and diagnosis. Aspiration pneumonia was defined as: 1) radiologic findings of hospital-acquired pneumonia on chest radiographs or CT, medical record of aspiration pneumonia confirmed by a pulmonologist's consultation, and history of vomiting or aspiration, or 2) gravity-dependent opacity on chest CT when the history of vomiting or aspiration is ambiguous. Patient demographics, past medical history, pre-injury Koval score, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), blood test results, length of hospital stay, and in-hospital mortality were evaluated. A comparison analysis and binary logistic regression were performed to identify the incidence and risk factors for postoperative pneumonia and aspiration pneumonia. RESULTS Postoperative pneumonia was diagnosed in 47 patients (3.9%), including 20 with aspiration pneumonia (1.7%). In the multivariate analysis, postoperative delirium (odds ratio [OR], 3.42; P < 0.001), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) scores ≥ 3 (OR, 2.11; P = 0.021), and CCI (OR, 1.21; P = 0.013) were significant risk factors for postoperative pneumonia. Male sex (OR, 3.01; P = 0.017), postoperative delirium (OR, 3.16; P = 0.014), and preoperative serum albumin levels < 3.5 g/dL (OR, 7.00; P = 0.010) were significant risk factors for aspiration pneumonia. CONCLUSION ASA classification ≥ 3, higher CCI, and postoperative delirium were the risk factors for postoperative pneumonia. Male sex, postoperative delirium, and lower preoperative serum albumin level were the risk factors for aspiration pneumonia. Thus, physicians should pay attention to patients with the risk factors.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The population-based cohort study used the Korean National Health Insurance claims database to evaluate the effect of anti-diabetic drugs on osteoporosis. The use of DPP-IV inhibitors does not increase the risk of osteoporosis compared with the use of sulfonylureas in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, while a weak association was found between thiazolidinediones and increased risk of osteoporosis. PURPOSE The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitors (DPP-IVi), thiazolidinedione (TZD), and sulfonylurea (SU) on osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes. METHODS A population-based cohort study was conducted in the Republic of Korea using the Korean National Health Insurance claims database. Data from 2012 to 2017 for patients of 50-99 years of age who were prescribed DPP-IVi, TZD, or SU during 2013-2015 were extracted from the database. Based on pre-defined criteria, a total of 381,404 patients were analyzed after inverse probability of treatment weighting. The association between the study drugs and osteoporosis was estimated using Cox proportional hazards models. Data of 220,166 patients who were prescribed DPP-IVi, 18,630 who were prescribed TZD, and 142,608 patients who were prescribed SU were set. RESULTS In the multivariate-adjusted analysis, the hazard ratio (HR) of osteoporosis in the DPP-IVi group was not significantly different from that of the SU group (HR: 0.97; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.94-1.00), whereas the HR of osteoporosis in the TZD group was higher (HR: 1.13; 95% CI 1.06-1.20). In the subgroup analysis, the HRs of osteoporosis were higher with pioglitazone (HR: 1.14; 95% CI 1.06-1.23) in the TZD group and with glibenclamides (HR: 1.39; 95% CI 1.09-1.77) in the SU group, whereas drugs with lower HR in the DPP-IVi group were saxagliptin (HR: 0.93; 95% CI 0.87-0.99) and sitagliptin (HR: 0.93; 95% CI 0.89-0.97). CONCLUSION DPP-IV inhibitors do not increase the risk of osteoporosis compared with sulfonylureas in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, while a weak association was found between thiazolidinediones and increased risk of osteoporosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a devastating chronic inflammatory skin disease with frequent recurrences. Various systemic treatments and procedures have been used but the efficacy of fractional microneedling radiofrequency (FMR) has not been reported. AIM To evaluate the clinical and histological efficacy of FMR in the treatment of HS lesions. METHODS An 8-week, prospective, split-body, unblinded study was conducted, which enrolled 10 adult patients with mild to moderate HS to receive 3 sessions of FMR treatment biweekly. HS severity was assessed using the number and type of lesions, HS Physician Global Assessment (HS-PGA) and the modified Sartorius score (mSS). Skin biopsies were performed on participants to assess change in inflammation before and after FMR. RESULTS Severity of HS was significantly reduced on the FMR-treated side of the body, but not on the control side. Inflammatory HS lesions were significantly reduced after 4 weeks, while HS-PGA and mSS were significantly decreased after 6 weeks. Immunohistochemistry staining showed decreased expression of inflammatory markers including neutrophil elastases, interleukin (IL)-8 and IL-17, tumour necrosis factor-α, transforming growth factor-β1 and matrix metalloproteinases. CONCLUSION FMR may be a viable treatment option for mild to moderate HS.

Abstract
UNLABELLED This study deals with differences of femoral geometric focus on the bowing and width. Analysis using three-dimensional skeletonization showed increase of femoral bowing and femur width over life (more in women), and widening of the medullary canal only in women after 50 years old, not in men. INTRODUCTION The changes in femur geometry that occur with aging and lead to fragility or insufficiency fracture remain unclear. The role of the lower limb geometry, including the femur and femoral bowing, has become a point of discussion, especially in atypical femur fracture. This study aimed to analyze femur shaft geometry using three-dimensional skeletonization. METHODS We acquired computed tomography images of both femurs obtained. A total of 1400 age- and sex-stratified participants were enrolled and were divided into subgroups according to age (by decade) and sex. The computed tomography images were used to produce 3-dimensional samplings of anatomical elements of the human femur using reconstruction and parametrization from these datasets. The process of skeletonization was conducted to obtain compact representation of the femur. With the skeletonization, we were able to compare all parameters according to age and sex. RESULTS The femur length was 424.4 ± 28.6 mm and was longer in men (P < 0.001). The minimum diameter of the medullary canal was 8.9 ± 2.0 mm. The radius of curvature (ROC) was 906.9 ± 193.3 mm. Men had a larger femur length, femur outer diameter, and the narrowest medullary diameter (P < 0.001, respectively). Women had significantly smaller ROC (P < 0.001). ROC decreased by 19.4% in men and 23.6% in women between the ages of 20 to 89 years. Femur width increased over life by 11.4% in men and 24.5% in women. Between the ages of 50 and 89 years, the medullary canal appears to have increased by 32.7% in women. CONCLUSION This geometry analysis demonstrated that femoral bowing and femoral width increased related to aging, and that the medullary canal widened after the age of 50 years in women. This cross-sectional study revealed important age- and sex-related differences in femur shaft geometry that occur with aging.

Abstract
H9N2 low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) viruses have long been circulating in the world poultry industry, resulting in substantial economic losses. In addition to bird health consequences, viruses from specific lineages such as G1 and Y280 are also known to have the potential to cause a pandemic within the human population. In South Korea, after introducing inactivated H9N2 vaccines in 2007, there were no field outbreaks of H9N2 LPAI since 2009. However, in June 2020, an H9N2 virus was isolated from an outbreak in a Korean chicken farm. This strain was distinct from the predominant Korean/Y439 lineage and was believed to be part of the Y280-like lineage. Since the first case of this new H9N2 LPAI, nine more cases of field infections in poultry farms were documented through July and December of 2020. Phylogenetic analysis of the haemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase genes of these case isolates revealed that all strains were grouped with exotic Y280-like strains that did not previously exist in South Korea and were emerging into a new cluster. Serological assays also confirmed the existence of antibodies to Y280-like viruses in field sera collected from infected birds, and that they had seroconverted. Further analysis of the receptor-binding region in the HA protein also revealed that these isolates harboured a human-like motif that could potentially affect mammals and humans, demonstrating a possible public health risk. This is the first report of field cases caused by Y280-like H9N2 LPAI in the Korean poultry industry. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTSField outbreaks caused by Y280-like H9N2 avian influenza viruses were confirmed.A human-like motif was found at the HA receptor-binding region of all isolates.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The association of perivascular spaces in the centrum semiovale with amyloid accumulation among patients with Alzheimer disease-related cognitive impairment is unknown. We evaluated this association in patients with Alzheimer disease-related cognitive impairment and β-amyloid deposition, assessed with [18F] florbetaben PET/CT. MATERIALS AND METHODS MR imaging and [18F] florbetaben PET/CT images of 144 patients with Alzheimer disease-related cognitive impairment were retrospectively evaluated. MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces were rated on a 4-point visual scale: a score of ≥3 or <3 indicated a high or low degree of MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces, respectively. Amyloid deposition was evaluated using the brain β-amyloid plaque load scoring system. RESULTS Compared with patients negative for β-amyloid, those positive for it were older and more likely to have lower cognitive function, a diagnosis of Alzheimer disease, white matter hyperintensity, the Apolipoprotein E ε4 allele, and a high degree of MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces in the centrum semiovale. Multivariable analysis, adjusted for age and Apolipoprotein E status, revealed that a high degree of MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces in the centrum semiovale was independently associated with β-amyloid positivity (odds ratio, 2.307; 95% CI, 1.036-5.136; P = .041). CONCLUSIONS A high degree of MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces in the centrum semiovale independently predicted β-amyloid positivity in patients with Alzheimer disease-related cognitive impairment. Thus, MR imaging-visible perivascular spaces in the centrum semiovale are associated with amyloid pathology of the brain and could be an indirect imaging marker of amyloid burden in patients with Alzheimer disease-related cognitive impairment.

Abstract
Recently, there has been a trend toward minimizing opioid use in obese patients to prevent opioid-related postoperative complications. Moreover, the use of opioid-free anesthesia has received growing interest. This case series reports the use of simple opioid-free anesthesia consisting of a mixture of dexmedetomidine, ketamine, and lidocaine in an obese male patient undergoing laparoscopic bariatric surgery and an obese pregnant woman undergoing cesarean section. These cases indicate that opioid-free anesthesia can be safely administered to obese patients and provides effective pain control without any postoperative adverse outcomes.

Abstract
Samples were collected from the subtidal region of Jumunjin on the eastern coast of Korea in July 2020. A total of 338 mussels of shell height (SH) 20.8-149.8 mm were used for sex ratio analysis. The sex ratio (F:M) in the same population of mussel Mytilus coruscus was approximately 1:0.7. The sex ratio according to the class of SH was different. The sex reversal pattern of M. coruscus appears to go from male → female → male → female, and as such is determined to be sequential hermaphrodites.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has infected more than 50 million people and killed more than one million, worldwide, during less than a year course. COVID-19, which has already become the worst pandemic in the last 100 years, is still spreading worldwide. Since the beginning of the outbreak, it has been of particular interest to understand whether COVID-19 is seasonal; the finding might help for better planning and preparation for the fight against the disease. Over the past 12 months, numerous empirical and epidemiological studies have been performed to define the distinct diffusion patterns of COVID-19. Thereby, a wealth of data has accumulated on the relationship between various seasonal meteorological factors and COVID-19 transmissibility at global and local scales. In this review, we aimed to discuss whether COVID-19 exhibits any seasonal features in a global and local perspective by collecting and providing summaries of the findings from empirical and epidemiological studies on the COVID-19 pandemic during its first seasonal cycle.

Abstract
To date, the light emitting diode (LED) based halide perovskite was rapidly developed due to the outstanding property of perovskite materials. However, the blue perovskite LEDs based on the bulk halide perovskites have been rarely researched and showed low efficiencies. The bulk blue perovskite LEDs suffered from insufficient coverage on the substrate due to the low solubility of the inorganic Cl sources or damaged by the structural instability with participation of organic cations. Here, we show the new method of fabricating stable inorganic bulk blue perovskite LEDs with the anion exchange approach to avoid use of insoluble Cl precursors. The devices showed nice operational spectral stability at the desired blue emission peak. The bulk perovskite blue LEDs showed a maximum luminance of 1468 and 494 cd m-2 for the 490 and 470 nm emission peaks, respectively.

Abstract
Lysosomal storage disease (LSD) is an inherited metabolic disorder caused by enzyme deficiency in lysosomes. Some treatments for LSD can slow progression, but there are no effective treatments to restore the pathological phenotype to normal levels. Lysosomes and mitochondria interact with each other, and this crosstalk plays a role in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Deficiency of lysosome enzymes in LSD impairs the turnover of mitochondrial defects, leading to deterioration of the mitochondrial respiratory chain (MRC). Cells with MRC impairment are associated with reduced lysosomal calcium homeostasis, resulting in impaired autophagic and endolysosomal function. This malicious feedback loop between lysosomes and mitochondria exacerbates LSD. In this review, we assess the interactions between mitochondria and lysosomes and propose the mitochondrial-lysosomal axis as a research target to treat LSD. The importance of the mitochondrial-lysosomal axis has been systematically characterized in several studies, suggesting that proper regulation of this axis represents an important investigative guide for the development of therapeutics for LSD. Therefore, studying the mitochondrial-lysosomal axis will not only add knowledge of the essential physiological processes of LSD, but also provide new strategies for treatment of LSD.

Abstract
Background There is no clear consensus on the recommended second-line treatment for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer who have disease progression following gemcitabine-based therapy. We retrospectively evaluated the clinical outcomes of liposomal irinotecan (nal-IRI) plus fluorouracil/leucovorin (FL) and FOLFIRINOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin) in patients who had failed on the first-line gemcitabine-based therapy. Patients and methods From January 2015 to August 2019, 378 patients with MPC who had received nal-IRI/FL (n = 104) or FOLFIRINOX (n = 274) as second-line treatment across 11 institutions were included in this retrospective study. Results There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between groups, except age and first-line regimens. With a median follow-up of 6 months, the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 3.7 months with nal-IRI/FL versus 4.6 months with FOLFIRINOX (P = 0.44). Median overall survival (OS) was 7.7 months with nal-IRI/FL versus 9.7 months with FOLFRINOX (P = 0.13). There was no significant difference in PFS and OS between the two regimens in the univariate and multivariate analyses. The subgroup analysis revealed that younger age (<70 years) was associated with better OS with FOLFIRINOX. In contrast, older age (≥70 years) was associated with better survival outcomes with nal-IRI/FL. Adverse events were manageable with both regimens; however, the incidence of grade 3 or higher neutropenia and peripheral neuropathy was higher in patients treated with FOLFIRINOX than with nal-IRI/FL. Conclusions Second-line nal-IRI/FL and FOLFIRINOX showed similar effectiveness outcomes after progression following first-line gemcitabine-based therapy. Age could be the determining factor for choosing the appropriate second-line therapy. This multicenter retrospective study investigated nal-IRI/FL and FOLFIRINOX outcomes after gemcitabine-based therapy. We found no significant differences in outcome between nal-IRI/FL and FOLFIRINOX treatment. Both regimens were well tolerated; however, neutropenia and peripheral neuropathy were more frequent with FOLFIRINOX. Age (cut-off, 70 years) showed differential efficacy between chemotherapy regimens.

Abstract
Pathological cutaneous scars, with aberrant extracellular matrix accumulation, have multiple origins. Antihypertensive medications, such as calcium channel blockers, have been used to treat pathological scars. However, a relationship between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, pathological scars, and blood pressure (BP) has never been reported. Here, we aimed to compare the differences in scar development and the effects of the administration of systemic ACE inhibitor on scar tissue in a normotensive rat, the Wistar Kyoto rat (WKY), a hypertensive rat, and the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR). Using an 8-mm punch, we created two full-thickness skin defects in a total of 32 rats (16 WKY and 16 SHR) to obtain a total of 64 wounds. We established control WKY (n = 16), captopril-treated WKY (n = 16), control SHR (n = 16), and captopril-treated SHR (n = 16) groups and started captopril (100 mg/g per day) treatment on day 21 in the appropriate groups. The BP of all groups was measured at 0, 3, and 5 weeks. The scar area was measured by histopathological examination, and scarring was expressed in terms of scar area and fibroblast and capillary counts. The expression of heat shock protein (HSP) 47, type I and III collagens, alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), Ki67, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was investigated using immunohistochemistry. The scar area and fibroblast count were significantly higher in control SHR than in control WKY. The scar area, fibroblast count, and capillary count were significantly smaller in captopril-treated SHR than in control SHR. Immunostaining for α-SMA, Ki67, and VEGF also showed a noticeable decrease in scarring in the treated SHR compared with that in control SHR. Thus, BP affects scar development in a rat model, and an ACE inhibitor is more effective at reducing scars in hypertensive rats than in normotensive rats.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transarterial embolisation (TAE) of dorsal pancreatic artery (DPA) haemorrhage. MATERIALS AND METHODS Nineteen consecutive patients (M:F = 16:3, mean age 59.6 years) who underwent TAE of DPA in three tertiary medical centres between January 2001 to January 2020 were reviewed retrospectively. Angiographic features and the technical and clinical outcomes of TAE were analysed. RESULTS The clinical presentations were a bloody drain from the Jackson-Pratt drainage tube (n=8), melaena (n=7), abdominal pain (n=4), and haematochezia (n=3). Angiographic findings included pseudoaneurysm (n=14), contrast media extravasation (n=4), or abrupt cut-off of the arterial branch (n=1). The NBCA (N-butyl-cyanoacrylate; n=4), microcoils (n=4), and a combination of these agents (n=7) were used as embolic agents. The most common origin of the DPA in the present study cohort was the splenic artery (n=7), followed by the coeliac trunk (n=4), common hepatic artery (n=4), and superior mesenteric artery (n=4). Technical and clinical success rates were 100% and 84.2% (16/19), respectively. Of the three clinically unsuccessful cases, two patients were revealed to have newly developed bleeding from another artery. The other patient expired 1 day after the TAE procedure due to a progression of hepatic failure. In one patient, an asymptomatic non-target embolisation occurred in the right posterior tibial artery as a procedure-related complication. No major complications were observed. CONCLUSION TAE is safe and effective for the management of bleeding from the DPA. It is important to be aware of the DPA as a potential bleeding source, including the relevant clinical characteristics.

Abstract
Reconstruction of the antihelical area can be challenging because the cartilage can be easily exposed due to the thin overlying soft tissue, and it has a lack of tissue mobility. Skin graft can be hesitant to perform in antihelical defects where the bare cartilage is exposed.A 70-year-old male with squamous cell carcinoma of the antihelix of the left ear was referred to our department for surgical excision. Wide excision with tumor-free margins resulted in a defect of 2.0 × 1.0 cm with exposed bare cartilage. The authors covered the defect using adipoperichondrial turnover flap from cephalic portion of the earlobe followed by full thickness skin graft. The skin graft took well with no complication. Aesthetic result was satisfactory with no auricular deformity.This adipoperichondrial turnover flap is simple, easy, can be performed in one stage, and produces good esthetic results with no disfiguration of the ear shape.

Abstract
Anti- and de-icing heating systems are used to both prevent the accumulation of ice and to remove it and thus avoid damage. Typically, anti- and de-icing heating systems employ carbon-based materials, metal frames, and bulky ceramic structures. These structures generally lead to the loss of radio-frequency (RF) signals and are also relatively heavy. Therefore, RF equipment such as radar domes (radomes) and antennas require anti- and de-icing systems with high RF transmittance for normal operation. In this work, we fabricated a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) wave pattern covered with hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) layers (i.e., an h-BN/FTO wave pattern) on a glass substrate for use as an RF-transmitting heating system for anti- and de-icing. The FTO wave pattern and h-BN layer act as the heating element and heat spreader, respectively. The h-BN layer showed a transmittance of approximately 90% for RF waves on glass (X band: 8.2-12.4 GHz) (the 10% loss was attributable to the glass substrate). The differences in the temperatures of the FTO-patterned and non-patterned areas for the h-BN(3.6 nm)/FTO and FTO wave pattern were 19.3 and 25.5 °C, respectively. This means that the h-BN layer improved the heat-spreading performance by 6.2 °C. Furthermore, a de-icing test was performed using the h-BN(3.6 nm)/FTO wave pattern by applying a voltage of 40 V at -20 °C. The ice on the non-patterned area melted within 1 min while that on the FTO-patterned area melted within 30 s. These results suggest that the fabricated h-BN(3.6 nm)/FTO wave pattern for RF-transmitting heating systems is suitable for use with the radomes of drones, unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft, and spaceships in extremely cold environments.

Abstract
Though halide perovskite nanocrystal (PeNC) based blue light emitting devices have been improved in the last few years, and the reasons for the improvements have been successfully explained, the origin of the narrow emission spectra of PeNCs have not been studied much. Here, the factors that affect the width of the emission spectra of PeNCs are analyzed with controlled synthesis and surface passivation treatment. The overall spectra are governed by the size of PeNCs; however, the width could be narrowed by surface passivation treatment. The anion passivation effect of the surface passivation improved most of optoelectronic properties, but had less effect on the emission spectra width. The narrower emission spectra of PeNCs are obtained by ligand passivation effect of the surface passivation. Light emitting devices with enhanced optoelectronic properties are successfully fabricated and narrow (0.094 eV, 16.72 nm) blue electroluminescence emission spectra (∼470 nm) are obtained.

Abstract
Significant aggregation between ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) dispersed in polar and nonpolar solvents hinders the formation of high quality thin film for the device application and impedes their excellent electron transporting ability. Herein a bifunctional coordination complex, titanium diisopropoxide bis(acetylacetonate) (Ti(acac)2) is employed as efficient stabilizer to improve colloidal stability of ZnO NPs. Acetylacetonate functionalized ZnO exhibited long-term stability and maintained its superior optical and electrical properties for months aging under ambient atmospheric condition. The functionalized ZnO NPs were then incorporated into polymer solar cells with conventional structure as n-type buffer layer. The devices exhibited nearly identical power conversion efficiency regardless of the use of fresh and old (2 months aged) NPs. Our approach provides a simple and efficient route to boost colloidal stability of ZnO NPs in both polar and nonpolar solvents, which could enable structure-independent intense studies for efficient organic and hybrid optoelectronic devices.

Abstract
Pneumorrhachis (PR) is a rare radiological condition characterized by the presence of intraspinal air. PR is commonly classified as spontaneous (nontraumatic), traumatic, or iatrogenic, and iatrogenic PR is the most common and often occurs secondary to invasive procedures such as epidural anesthesia, lumbar puncture, or spinal surgery. PR is usually asymptomatic, but it can produce symptoms associated with its underlying pathology. Here, we report a rare case of intramedullary cervical PR following a cervical epidural steroid injection (ESI) and include pertinent discussion.

Abstract
Autosomal dominant hypocalcified amelogenesis imperfecta (ADHCAI; OMIM #130900) is a genetic disorder exhibiting severe hardness defects and reduced fracture toughness of dental enamel. While the condition is nonsyndromic, it can be associated with other craniofacial anomalies, such as malocclusions and delayed or failed tooth eruption. Truncation mutations in FAM83H (OMIM *611927) are hitherto the sole cause of ADHCAI. With human genetic studies, Fam83h knockout and mutation-knock-in mouse models indicated that FAM83H does not serve a critical physiologic function during enamel formation and suggested a neomorphic mutation mechanism causing ADHCAI. The function of FAM83H remains obscure. FAM83H has been shown to interact with various isoforms of casein kinase 1 (CK1) and keratins and to mediate organization of keratin cytoskeletons and desmosomes. By considering FAM83H a scaffold protein to anchor CK1s, further molecular characterization of the protein could gain insight into its functions. In this study, we characterized 9 kindreds with ADHCAI and identified 3 novel FAM83H truncation mutations: p.His437*, p.Gln459*, and p.Glu610*. Some affected individuals exhibited hypoplastic phenotypes, in addition to the characteristic hypocalcification enamel defects, which have never been well documented. Failed eruption of canines or second molars in affected persons was observed in 4 of the families. The p.Glu610* mutation was located in a gap area (amino acids 470 to 625) within the zone of previously reported pathogenic variants (amino acids 287 to 694). In vitro pull-down studies with overexpressed FAM83H proteins in HEK293 cells demonstrated an interaction between FAM83H and SEC16A, a protein component of the COP II complex at endoplasmic reticulum exit sites. The interaction was mediated by the middle part (amino acids 287 to 657) of mouse FAM83H protein. Results of this study significantly extended the phenotypic and genotypic spectrums of FAM83H-associated ADHCAI and suggested a role for FAM83H in endoplasmic reticulum-to-Golgi vesicle trafficking and protein secretion (dbGaP phs001491.v1.p1).

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The relationship between marijuana use and markers of chronic lung disease in people living with HIV (PLWH) is poorly understood. METHODS We performed a cross-sectional analysis of the Examinations of HIV-Associated Lung Emphysema (EXHALE) study, including 162 HIV-positive patients and 138 participants without HIV. We modelled marijuana exposure as: (i) current daily or weekly marijuana smoking vs. monthly or less often; or (ii) cumulative marijuana smoking (joint-years). Linear and logistic regression estimated associations between marijuana exposure and markers of lung disease, adjusted for tobacco smoking and other factors. RESULTS In PLWH, current daily or weekly marijuana use was associated with a larger forced vital capacity (FVC), larger total lung capacity and increased odds of radiographic emphysema compared with marijuana non-smokers in adjusted models; these associations were not statistically significant in participants without HIV. Marijuana joint-years were associated with higher forced expiratory volume in 1 s and FVC in PLWH but not with emphysema. CONCLUSIONS In PLWH, marijuana smoking was associated with higher lung volumes and potentially with radiographic emphysema. No consistently negative associations were observed between marijuana and measures of chronic lung health.

Abstract
Vasopressin local infiltration is useful in gynecological surgery because it can reduce
hemorrhage. Depending on the activities of the sympathetic system and the
renin–angiotensin system, reactions to vasopressin may differ and predicting its systemic
effects is difficult. Because life-threatening complications can occur, infiltration with
vasopressin should be administered with caution. A 42-year-old female patient was
diagnosed with uterine leiomyomas. During a robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy, 50 U
of vasopressin, which is ten-times the recommended dose, was accidentally infiltrated.
Subsequently, bradycardia with a heart rate of 25 bpm occurred, which recovered within 3
minutes. Peripheral perfusion indices and the diameter of the radial and brachial arteries
also decreased markedly and recovered within 1 hour. The surgery was concluded without
additional events. The patient was discharged 2 days later with no abnormal findings.
Because vasopressin infiltration can cause life-threatening complications, it is necessary
to determine the extent of patient reactions to vasopressin using measures such as the
peripheral perfusion index or radial and brachial artery diameters. These measures may
also help to predict the occurrence of complications.

Abstract
Investigation of photodarkening (PD) in Yb-doped fibers tandem-pumped at 1018 nm is reported. For a homemade Yb-doped aluminosilicate double-clad fiber (YADF), the transmitted power of a 633 nm probe beam is reduced by 2.4% over 2 hours for the tandem pumping configuration at 1018 nm, which is significantly smaller than 33.3% for a laser diode (LD) pumping at 976 nm. A tandem-pumped Yb fiber amplifier also shows a much smaller decrease in the amplified output power over time than a LD-pumped Yb fiber amplifier. Based on fluorescence spectra of the YADF, we can not only associate PD of the YADF to intrinsic oxygen deficiency centers or Tm3+ impurities but also confirm the impact of the excited Yb3+ ion density on PD. The benefits of the tandem pumping in a high-power Yb fiber laser system will be discussed.

Abstract
All-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs), CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, or I), have been considered as one of the prospective emissive materials for display applications, which showed superior photoluminescence quantum yield and high color purity with narrow spectral line width. Recently, high-performance green and red perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) were introduced; however, the efficiency of blue PeLEDs still lagged owing to PeNCs' deep HOMO energy level (∼6.0 eV), which is in discord with the adjacent organic interlayer. In this work, we demonstrated an interfacial engineering strategy with conjugated polyelectrolytes, functionalized PFN (poly[(9,9-bis(3'-(N,N-dimethylamino)propyl)-2,7-fluorene)-alt-2,7-(9,9-dioctylfluorene)]) with halide anions, between the hole injection layer and PeNCs. By introducing PFN-X (X = Cl, Br, or I), they exhibit well-balanced charge carriers and resultant effective radiative recombination in the PeNC layer with reduced hole injection barrier and electron blocking behavior. Among them, in particular, the PFN-Cl-treated PeLEDs display a maximum external quantum efficiency of 1.34% at 470 nm electroluminescence emission with enhanced spectral operating stability.

Abstract
This study was carried out to obtain information on the developmental biology and
the management of biological resources of the abalone Haliotis gigantea
in Korea. The sex ratio (female:male) in the present study was 1:1.7
and the proportion of females was 36.6% (n=106/290). Their gonadal
structures displayed definitive seasonal changes which were similar in pattern
to the changes in the gonad index (GI). The GI showed a pattern of definitive
seasonal changes in both males and females it was high in the fall and low in
the spring. The reproductive cycle could be categorized into the following six
stages: inactive, early active, late active, ripe, spent, and degenerative
stage. Based on the monthly changes in GI and stages of gonadal development,
October to November was determined to be the main spawning period for H.
gigantea on Jeju Island, Korea.

Abstract
Inorganic lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) have intensively drawn attention as efficient light-emitting materials for optoelectronic applications due to their fine optoelectronic properties with a high photoluminescence quantum yield and easily tunable saturated emission color. However, the poor stability of the red-emitting PeNCs has become an obstacle because of the uncontrollable iodine substitution from the PeNCs due to weak Pb-I bonding. In this work, we have demonstrated a ligand-mediated post-treatment (LMPT) method using a halide ion-pair ligand, tridodecylmethyl ammonium iodide (TrDAI), for the air stable and high-quality red-emitting PeNCs. Through the LMPT method, the optoelectronic properties of red-emitting PeNCs are dramatically improved resulting in a PLQY of 88.7% at 637 ± 2 nm emission with an increased carrier lifetime from 20.77 to 31.52 ns. We achieve highly efficient red perovskite light-emitting diodes exhibiting a maximum current efficiency of 7.69 cd A-1 and an external quantum efficiency of 6.36% at 637 ± 2 nm electroluminescence emission with a sharp full-width at half maximum of 31 nm.

Abstract
The cause of chronic inflammatory periodontitis, which leads to the destruction of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, is multifactorial. An increasing number of studies have shown the clinical significance of NLRP3-mediated low-grade inflammation in degenerative disorders, but its causal linkage to age-related periodontitis has not yet been elucidated. In this study, we investigated the involvement of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the therapeutic potential of NLRP3 inhibition in age-related alveolar bone loss by using in vivo and in vitro models. The poor quality of alveolar bones in aged mice was correlated with caspase-1 activation by macrophages and elevated levels of IL-1β, which are mainly regulated by the NLRP3 inflammasome, in periodontal ligament and serum, respectively. Aged mice lacking Nlrp3 showed better bone mass than age-matched wild-type mice via a way that affects bone resorption rather than bone formation. In line with this finding, treatment with MCC950, a potent inhibitor of the NLRP3 inflammasome, significantly suppressed alveolar bone loss with reduced caspase-1 activation in aged mice but not in young mice. In addition, our in vitro studies showed that the addition of IL-1β encourages RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis from bone marrow-derived macrophages and that treatment with MCC950 significantly suppresses osteoclastic differentiation directly, irrelevant to the inhibition of IL-1β production. Our results suggest that the NLRP3 inflammasome is a critical mediator in age-related alveolar bone loss and that targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome could be a novel option for controlling periodontal degenerative changes with age.
