Abstract
Pelvic malalignment leads to general imbalance and adversely affects leg length. Timely and accurate diagnosis of pelvic alignment in patients is crucial to prevent additional complications arising from delayed treatment. Currently, doctors typically assess pelvic alignment either manually or through radiography. This study aimed to develop and assess the validity of a deep learning-based system for automatically measuring 10 radiographic parameters necessary for diagnosing pelvic displacement using standing anteroposterior pelvic X-rays. Between March 2016 and June 2021, pelvic radiographs from 1215 patients were collected. After applying specific selection criteria, 550 pelvic radiographs were chosen for analysis. These data were utilized to develop a deep learning-based system capable of automatically measuring radiographic parameters relevant to pelvic displacement diagnosis. The system's diagnostic accuracy was evaluated by comparing automatically measured values with those assessed by a clinician using 200 radiographs selected from the initial 550. The results indicated that the system exhibited high reliability, accuracy, and reproducibility, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of ≥0.9, an intra-class correlation coefficient of ≥0.9, a mean absolute error of ≤1 cm, mean square error of ≤1 cm, and root mean square error of ≤1 cm. Moreover, the system's measurement time for a single radiograph was found to be 18 to 20 times faster than that required by a clinician for manual inspection. In conclusion, our proposed deep learning-based system effectively utilizes standing anteroposterior pelvic radiographs to precisely and consistently measure radiographic parameters essential for diagnosing pelvic displacement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) represent 1-2% of pancreatic tumors, with recent guidelines recommending active surveillance for non-functioning PNETs (NF-PNETs) smaller than 2 cm. However, the management of multiple NF-PNETs, as well as the influence of tumor number on prognosis, remains under-researched. METHODS This retrospective study analyzed NF-PNET patients who underwent pancreatic resection at Severance Hospital between February 1993 and August 2023, comparing the characteristics of patients diagnosed with multifocal tumors and those with unifocal tumors. A subgroup analysis of overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) was performed based on multifocality employing the Kaplan-Meier method and the log-rank test. RESULTS Of 187 patients, 169 (90.4%) had unifocal and 18 (9.6%) had multifocal tumors. Multifocal tumors were more likely to be diffusely spread, necessitating more total pancreatectomies (diffuse tumor location: 4.7% in unifocal vs. 38.9% in multifocal cases, p < 0.001; total pancreatectomy: 4.1% in unifocal vs. 33.3% in multifocal cases, p < 0.001). In patients with NF-PNET who underwent the same extent of pancreatic resection, no significant difference in the incidence of complication was observed regardless of multifocality. Moreover, no significant difference in OS was seen between the unifocal and multifocal groups (log-rank test: p = 0.93). However, the multifocal group exhibited a poorer prognosis in terms of RFS compared to the unifocal group (log-rank test: p = 0.004) Hereditary syndrome, tumor grade, size, lymphovascular invasion, and lymph node metastasis were key factors in the recurrence. CONCLUSION This study's findings suggest that the presence of multiple tumors was associated with poorer recurrence-free survival but did not affect long-term survival following surgery. Given the long-term oncologic outcome and quality of life following surgery, resection of tumors over 2 cm is advisable in patients with multifocal PNETs, while a cautious "wait-and-see" approach for smaller tumors (under 2 cm) can minimize the extent of resection and improve the quality of life. In cases with only small multifocal NF-PNETs (< 2 cm), immediate resection may not be crucial, but the higher recurrence rate than that in solitary NF-PNET necessitates intensified surveillance.

Abstract
(1) Background: The aim of this study was to compare the survival benefit of radical antegrade modular pancreatosplenectomy (RAMPS) with conventional distal pancreatosplenectomy (cDPS) in left-sided pancreatic cancer. (2) Methods: A retrospective propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was conducted on 333 patients who underwent RAMPS or cDPS for left-sided pancreatic cancer at four tertiary cancer centers. The study assessed prognostic factors and compared survival and operative outcomes. (3) Results: After PSM, 99 patients were matched in each group. RAMPS resulted in a higher retrieved lymph node count than cDPS (15.0 vs. 10.0, p < 0.001). No significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of R0 resection rate, blood loss, hospital stay, or morbidity. The 5-year overall survival rate was similar in both groups (cDPS vs. RAMPS, 44.4% vs. 45.2%, p = 0.853), and disease-free survival was also comparable. Multivariate analysis revealed that ASA score, preoperative CA19-9, histologic differentiation, R1 resection, adjuvant treatment, and lymphovascular invasion were significant prognostic factors for overall survival. Preoperative CA19-9, histologic differentiation, T-stage, adjuvant treatment, and lymphovascular invasion were independent significant prognostic factors for disease-free survival. (4) Conclusions: Although RAMPS resulted in a higher retrieved lymph node count, survival outcomes were not different between the two groups. RAMPS was a surgical option to achieve R0 resection rather than a standard procedure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several guidelines exist for minimally invasive pancreatoduodenectomy (MIPD) regarding its prerequisites and learning curve. However, these guidelines are based on the experience of the pioneers of MIPD; minimal data exist on the experience of the next generation of surgeons. The aim of this study was to compare the two surgeon types (veteran and junior) for MIPD in terms of immediate postoperative outcomes. METHODS The postoperative outcomes of 22 patients who underwent robot-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy (RAPD) by a junior surgeon from July 2021 to December 2022 were retrospectively reviewed. The outcomes were compared with the initial postoperative outcomes and the contemporary postoperative outcomes of RAPD by a veteran surgeon. RESULTS In comparing the initial outcomes between the two surgeon types, the veteran surgeons showed a shorter operation time (junior surgeon vs. veteran surgeon: 606 ± 89 vs. 467 ± 77 min, p < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in terms of postoperative outcomes, such as blood loss (300 [200-600] ml. vs. 200 [100-500] ml, p = 0.208), major complications (≥CDC IIIa: 4 (18.2%) vs. 4 (18.2%), p = 1.000), postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF; ≥ISGPF Grade B: 2 (9.1%) vs. 3 (13.6%), p > 0.999), and length of hospital stay (18.0 ± 8.9 days vs. 18.3 ± 7.9 days, p = 0.915), between the two surgeon types. In addition, in a comparison of the contemporary outcomes, there was no significant difference in terms of postoperative outcome (complications: 4 (18.2%) vs 11 (11.1%), p = 0.580; POPF: 2 (9.1%) vs. 3 (3.0%), p = 0.484; length of hospital stay: 18.0 ± 8.9 vs. 15.0 ± 6.5 days, p = 0.065). CONCLUSION The initial outcomes of MIPD by a well-trained junior surgeon were found to be comparable to those of MIPD by a veteran surgeon.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The relationship between assisted reproductive techniques (ART) and the risk of asthma and allergic rhinitis (AR) is controversial. Thus, we aimed to investigate the relationship between ART and the risk of asthma and AR in a nationwide, large-scale birth cohort. PATIENTS AND METHODS This study utilized the National Health Insurance Service data in South Korea to conduct a nationwide, large-scale, population-based birth cohort. We included all infants born between 2017 and 2018. AR, asthma, food allergies, and atopic dermatitis were defined using the International Classification of Diseases tenth edition codes. Asthma was classified as allergic or non-allergic based on accompanying allergic diseases (AR, food allergy, or atopic dermatitis). Using 1:10 propensity score matching, we compared infants conceived through ART with those conceived naturally (non-ART). After matching, logistic regression was used to compare the hazard ratio for asthma and AR between the two groups. RESULTS We included 543,178 infants [male infants, 280,194 (51.38%)]. After matching, 8,925 and 74,229 infants were selected for the ART and non-ART groups, respectively. The ART group showed a decreased risk of asthma in the offspring [adjusted hazard ratio (aHR), 0.45; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.41-0.48]. Similarly, for AR, being conceived by ART was associated with a decreased risk of AR (aHR, 0.25; 95% CI, 0.12-0.37). ART offspring showed a decreased risk of asthma and AR in offspring compared to that observed in non-ART offspring. CONCLUSIONS Our study offers important insights for clinicians, researchers, and parents regarding the health outcomes of ART-conceived infants and enhances our understanding of ART's impact on respiratory health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although many guidelines recommend performing lymph node dissection (LND) during surgery for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), there is no evidence for patients with incidentally detected ICC who did not undergo LND. This study aimed to identify the role of LND in patients with incidental ICC. METHODS The data from 284 patients who had undergone radical surgery for ICC from 2000 to 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The enrolled patients were divided into 3 groups according to their T stage (T1 vs T2 vs T3 + 4). Moreover, the patients of each T group were divided into 3 groups according to their nodal status (N0 vs N1 vs Nx) and their survival outcomes were compared. RESULTS Survival outcomes of Nx group were statistically similar to that of N0 group in T1 stage (Nx vs N0: disease-free survival [DFS] [months], 129.0 [75.6-182.4] vs 125.0 [65.7-184.3], P = .948; overall survival [OS] [months], 175.0 [153.9-196.1] vs 173.0 [109.0-237.0], P = .443). In contrast, survival outcomes of Nx group in the other T stage (T2 and T3 + 4) were poorer than that of N0 group and were better than that of N1 group. In addition, in the Nx subgroup analysis according to T stage, T1 group showed significantly better survival outcomes than the other groups (T1 vs T2 vs T3 + 4: DFS [months], 129.0 [75.9-182.1] vs 16.0 [9.8-22.2] vs 13.0 [0.3-25.7], P < .001; OS [months], 175.0 [153.9-196.1] vs 53.0 [30.8-75.2] vs 37.0 [17.6-56.4], P < .001). CONCLUSION Patients with ICC incidentally diagnosed as having T2 or above T stage may consider additional LND.

Abstract
Human milk oligosaccharides (HMO) affect gut microbiota during neonatal development, particularly with respect to the immune system. Bovine milk-based infant formulas have low oligosaccharide contents. Thus, efforts to fortify infant formulas with HMO are being undertaken. Two major HMO, 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) and 6'-sialyllactose (6'-SL), exert anti-inflammatory effects; however, the associations between anti-inflammatory effects induced by 2'-FL and 6'-SL co-treatment and gut microbiota composition and metabolite modulation remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the effects of a mixture of these HMO. To determine the optimal HMO ratio for anti-inflammatory effects and elucidate its mode of action, LPS-induced inflammatory HT-29 epithelial cells and intestinal inflamed suckling mice were treated with various mixtures of 2'-FL and 6'-SL. 2'-FL:6'-SL ratio of 5:1 was identified as the most effective pre-treatment HMO mixture in vitro; thus, this ratio was selected and used for low, middle, and high-dose treatments for subsequent in vivo studies. In vivo, high-dose HMO treatment restored LPS-induced inflammation symptoms, such as body weight loss, colon length reduction, histological structural damage, and intestinal gene expression related to inflammatory responses. High-dose HMO was the only treatment that modulated the major phyla Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes and the genera Ihubacter, Mageeibacillus, and Saccharofermentans. These changes in microbial composition were correlated with intestinal inflammation-related gene expression and short-chain fatty acid production. To our knowledge, our study is the first to report the effects of Ihubacter, Mageeibacillus, and Saccharofermentans on short chain fatty acid levels, which can subsequently affect inflammatory cytokine and tight junction protein levels. Conclusively, the HMO mixture exerted anti-inflammatory effects through changes in microbiota and metabolite production. These findings suggested that supplementation of infant formula with HMO may benefit formula-fed infants by forming unique microbiota contributing to neonatal development.

Abstract
This study aims to elucidate the cellular mechanisms behind the secretion of complement factor B (CFB), known for its dual roles as an early biomarker for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and as the initial substrate for the alternative complement pathway (ACP). Using parallel reaction monitoring analysis, we confirmed a consistent ∼2-fold increase in CFB expression in PDAC patients compared with that in both healthy donors (HD) and chronic pancreatitis (CP) patients. Elevated ACP activity was observed in CP and other benign conditions compared with that in HD and PDAC patients, suggesting a functional link between ACP and PDAC. Protein-protein interaction analyses involving key complement proteins and their regulatory factors were conducted using blood samples from PDAC patients and cultured cell lines. Our findings revealed a complex control system governing the ACP and its regulatory factors, including Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) mutation, adrenomedullin (AM), and complement factor H (CFH). Particularly, AM emerged as a crucial player in CFB secretion, activating CFH and promoting its predominant binding to C3b over CFB. Mechanistically, our data suggest that the KRAS mutation stimulates AM expression, enhancing CFH activity in the fluid phase through binding. This heightened AM-CFH interaction conferred greater affinity for C3b over CFB, potentially suppressing the ACP cascade. This sequence of events likely culminated in the preferential release of ductal CFB into plasma during the early stages of PDAC. (Data set ID PXD047043.).

Abstract
Thermoelectric (TE) generation with solution-processable conducting polymers offers substantial potential in low-temperature energy harvesting based on high tunability in materials, processes, and form-factors. However, manipulating the TE and charge transport properties accompanies structural and energetic disorders, restricting the enhancement of thermoelectric power factor (PF). Here, solution-based strong acid-base treatment techniques are introduced to modulate the doping level of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin films with preserving its molecular orientation, enabling to achieve a remarkably high PF of 534.5 µW m-1 K-2 . Interestingly, theoretical modeling suggested that further de-doping can increase the PF beyond the experimental value. However, it is impossible to reach this value experimentally, even without any degradation of PEDOT crystallinity. Uncovering the underlying reason for the limitation, an analysis of the relationship among the microstructure-thermoelectric performance-charge transport property revealed that inter-domain connectivity via tie-chains and the resultant percolation for transport are crucial factors in achieving high TE performance, as in charge transport. It is believed that the methods and fundamental understandings in this work would contribute to the exploitation of conducting polymer-based low-temperature energy harvesting.

Abstract
Gyrokinetic simulations of the fishbone instability in DIII-D tokamak plasmas find that self-generated zonal flows can dominate the nonlinear saturation by preventing coherent structures from persisting or drifting in the energetic particle phase space when the mode frequency down-chirps. Results from the simulation with zonal flows agree quantitatively, for the first time, with experimental measurements of the fishbone saturation amplitude and energetic particle transport. Moreover, the fishbone-induced zonal flows are likely responsible for the formation of an internal transport barrier that was observed after fishbone bursts in this DIII-D experiment. Finally, gyrokinetic simulations of a related ITER baseline scenario show that the fishbone induces insignificant energetic particle redistribution and may enable high performance scenarios in ITER burning plasma experiments.

Abstract
Ecklonia cava is a nutrient-rich algae species that contains abundant physiological phytochemicals, including peptides, carotenoids, fucoidans, and phlorotannins. However, elucidation of the antiviral effects of this algae and identification of new functional ingredients warrant further investigation. This study was aimed at investigating the potential anti-hepatitis A virus activities of extracts of E. cava prepared in different solvents. E. cava extracts were prepared using hot water and 70 % ethanol. The antioxidant activities of the extracts were confirmed by analyzing the total phenolic content, as well as 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radical scavenging activities. The inhibitory effects of the extracts against hepatitis A virus were analyzed using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The E. cava extract yield was 22.5-27.2 % depending on the extraction solvent. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity was 70.44 % and 91.05 % for hot water and ethanol extracts at a concentration of 1000 ppm. The 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radical scavenging activity of the ethanol extract was the highest (93.57 %) at 1000 μg/mL. Fourier-transform infrared was used to identify the functional groups (phlorotannin and alginate) in the extraction solvents. Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry analysis revealed a potential bioactive compound previously unidentified in E. cava. Finally, we identified the antiviral activity of E. cava extracts against hepatitis A virus replication. These findings demonstrate that E. cava could be used as an anti-hepatitis A virus functional food and biological material.

Abstract
Proteins are the primary functional actors of the cell. While proteoform diversity is known to be highly biologically relevant, current protein analysis methods are of limited use for distinguishing proteoforms. Mass spectrometric methods, in particular, often provide only ambiguous information on post-translational modification sites, and sequences of co-existing modifications may not be resolved. Here we demonstrate fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based single-molecule protein fingerprinting to map the location of individual amino acids and post-translational modifications within single full-length protein molecules. Our data show that both intrinsically disordered proteins and folded globular proteins can be fingerprinted with a subnanometer resolution, achieved by probing the amino acids one by one using single-molecule FRET via DNA exchange. This capability was demonstrated through the analysis of alpha-synuclein, an intrinsically disordered protein, by accurately quantifying isoforms in mixtures using a machine learning classifier, and by determining the locations of two O-GlcNAc moieties. Furthermore, we demonstrate fingerprinting of the globular proteins Bcl-2-like protein 1, procalcitonin and S100A9. We anticipate that our ability to perform proteoform identification with the ultimate sensitivity may unlock exciting new venues in proteomics research and biomarker-based diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Parthanatos represents a critical molecular aspect of Parkinson's disease, wherein AIMP2 aberrantly activates PARP-1 through direct physical interaction. Although AIMP2 ought to be a therapeutic target for the disease, regrettably, it is deemed undruggable due to its non-enzymatic nature and predominant localization within the tRNA synthetase multi-complex. Instead, AIMP2 possesses an antagonistic splice variant, designated DX2, which counteracts AIMP2-induced apoptosis in the p53 or inflammatory pathway. Consequently, we examined whether DX2 competes with AIMP2 for PARP-1 activation and is therapeutically effective in Parkinson's disease. METHODS The binding affinity of AIMP2 and DX2 to PARP-1 was contrasted through immunoprecipitation. The efficacy of DX2 in neuronal cell death was assessed under 6-OHDA and H2O2 in vitro conditions. Additionally, endosomal and exosomal activity of synaptic vesicles was gauged in AIMP2 or DX2 overexpressed hippocampal primary neurons utilizing optical live imaging with VAMP-vGlut1 probes. To ascertain the role of DX2 in vivo, rotenone-induced behavioral alterations were compared between wild-type and DX2 transgenic animals. A DX2-encoding self-complementary adeno-associated virus (scAAV) was intracranially injected into 6-OHDA induced in vivo animal models, and their mobility was examined. Subsequently, the isolated brain tissues were analyzed. RESULTS DX2 translocates into the nucleus upon ROS stress more rapidly than AIMP2. The binding affinity of DX2 to PARP-1 appeared to be more robust compared to that of AIMP2, resulting in the inhibition of PARP-1 induced neuronal cell death. DX2 transgenic animals exhibited neuroprotective behavior in rotenone-induced neuronal damage conditions. Following a single intracranial injection of AAV-DX2, both behavior and mobility were consistently ameliorated in neurodegenerative animal models induced by 6-OHDA. CONCLUSION AIMP2 and DX2 are proposed to engage in bidirectional regulation of parthanatos. They physically interact with PARP-1. Notably, DX2's cell survival properties manifest exclusively in the context of abnormal AIMP2 accumulation, devoid of any tumorigenic effects. This suggests that DX2 could represent a distinctive therapeutic target for addressing Parkinson's disease in patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) improves the survival of patients with hypoxemia due to chronic respiratory diseases. The clinical outcomes of LTOT are strongly associated with patient adherence. To improve the adherence of patients, physicians have focused on the efficacy of LTOT. However, poor adherence may stem from patients' perceptions of LTOT. Herein we evaluated patients' perceptions of LTOT affecting adherence. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional survey study using descriptive, open, and closed-ended questionnaire. Patients using oxygen therapy (OT) or requiring it but avoiding OT responded to the questionnaires at three university hospitals. RESULTS Seventy-nine patients responded to the questionnaires. The number of patients using home and portable OT was 69 (93%) and 37 (46.3%), respectively. Patients with good adherence were 22 (30.1%). Among patients with good adherence, 90.9% used oxygen according to physicians' prescriptions whereas only 37.3% of those with poor adherence followed physicians' prescriptions (p<0.01). The reasons for avoiding using home OT were fear of permanent use (50%), unwanted attention (40%), and lack of symptoms (40%). They avoided portable OT because of unwanted attention (39%), heaviness (31.7%), and lack of symptoms (21.6%). CONCLUSION Patients on LTOT had the perception of the misunderstanding the effects of OT and of psychosocial barriers to initiate or use LTOT. Considering these findings, health professionals need to provide effective education on the purpose of LTOT to improve patient adherence to OT and provide sufficient support for the management of psychosocial barriers in patients using LTOT.

Abstract
Background In the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer, the nodal staging of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is classified as N0 and N1 in accordance with lymph node (LN) metastases. Recently, several studies have reported that the number of metastatic LNs is associated with prognosis in patients with ICC. However, the majority of these studies were published in Eastern countries, and there are few available data for Western countries. This study aimed to investigate the association between metastatic LN number and prognosis in ICC patients using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Methods Data from 658 ICC patients in the SEER database who underwent hepatectomy with LN dissection from 2000 to 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Hazard ratios (HRs) according to increasing numbers of metastatic LN were calculated. The patients were then divided into three groups according to their metastatic LN numbers (N0: no metastatic LNs; N+ <4: 1-3 metastatic LNs; N+ ≥4: ≥4 metastatic LNs), and cause-specific survival (CSS) was compared. Results Metastatic LN number was a prognostic factor of oncologic survival [CSS: HR =1.300; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.225-1.379; P<0.001]. In survival analysis, an increasing number of metastatic LNs was significantly correlated with poorer oncologic outcomes [CSS: N0 vs. N+ <4 vs. N+ ≥4: 40.856 (95% CI: 38.806-42.919) vs. 22.000 (95% CI: 18.283-25.717) vs. 15.000 (95% CI: 11.520-18.480) months, P<0.001]. In post hoc analysis, a significant difference was found between adjacent groups (N0 vs. N+ <4, P<0.001; N+ <4 vs. N+ ≥4, P=0.004). Conclusions Patients with ICC in the SEER database were reaffirmed to have worse prognosis with an increasing number of metastatic LNs.

Abstract
Emulgels are a type of soft solid delivery system that exploit the merits of both emulsions and gels, namely, bioactive encapsulability and structural stability, respectively. We utilized retrograded/octenylsuccinylated maize starch (ROMS) to fabricate the curcumin-loaded emulgel. Emulgels (oil volume fraction, 0.20) prepared with 1-4 % w/w ROMS exhibited fluid-like behaviors while emulgels with 5-8 % w/w ROMS exhibited a gel-like consistency. Compared to a fluidic emulsion stabilized with 3 % w/w octenylsuccinylated maize starch, the emulgels showed more sustained lipolysis and controlled curcumin release patterns. These results were attributed to rigid ROMS structures at the outer layer of oil droplets, hindering the lipase approach onto the oil/water interface and curcumin diffusion from the interface. Additionally, the bioaccessibility of curcumin in ROMS-stabilized emulgels was enhanced >9.6-fold compared to that of a curcumin solution. Furthermore, emulgels prepared with 8 % w/w ROMS exhibited a high yield stress (376.4 Pa) and maintained appearance and droplet size for 60 days of storage at 4 °C. Consequently, this emulgel has potential as a lipophilic bioactive-containing soft gel with sustained digestion and controlled release properties. Our findings may provide insights into rational delivery system designs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Commercial anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies (CART19) are efficacious against advanced B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL); however, most patients ultimately relapse. Several mechanisms contribute to this failure, including CD19-negative escape and CAR T dysfunction. All four commercial CART19 products utilize the FMC63 single-chain variable fragment (scFv) specific to a CD19 membrane-distal epitope and characterized by slow association (on) and dissociation (off) rates. We hypothesized that a novel anti-CD19 scFv that engages an alternative CD19 membrane-proximal epitope independent of FMC63 and that is characterized by faster on- and off-rates could mitigate CART19 failure and improve clinical efficacy. METHODS We developed an autologous CART19 product with 4-1BB co-stimulation using a novel humanized chicken antibody (h1218). This antibody is specific to a membrane-proximal CD19 epitope and harbors faster on/off rates compared to FMC63. We tested h1218-CART19 in vitro and in vivo using FMC63-CART19-resistant models. We conducted a first-in-human multi-center phase I clinical trial to test AT101 (clinical-grade h1218-CART19) in patients with relapsed or refractory (r/r) NHL. RESULTS Preclinically, h1218- but not FMC63-CART19 were able to effectively eradicate lymphomas expressing CD19 point mutations (L174V and R163L) or co-expressing FMC63-CAR19 as found in patients relapsing after FMC63-CART19. Furthermore, h1218-CART19 exhibited enhanced killing of B-cell malignancies in vitro and in vivo compared with FMC63-CART19. Mechanistically, we found that h1218-CART19 had reduced activation-induced cell death (AICD) and enhanced expansion compared to FMC63-CART19 owing to faster on- and off-rates. Based on these preclinical results, we performed a phase I dose-escalation trial, testing three dose levels (DL) of AT101 (the GMP version of h1218) using a 3 + 3 design. In 12 treated patients (7 DLBCL, 3 FL, 1 MCL, and 1 MZL), AT101 showed a promising safety profile with 8.3% grade 3 CRS (n = 1) and 8.3% grade 4 ICANS (n = 1). In the whole cohort, the overall response rate was 91.7%, with a complete response rate of 75.0%, which improved to 100% in DL-2 and -3. AT101 expansion correlates with CR and B-cell aplasia. CONCLUSIONS We developed a novel, safe, and potent CART19 product that recognizes a membrane-proximal domain of CD19 with fast on- and off-rates and showed significant efficacy and promising safety in patients with relapsed B-cell NHL. Abstract
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have garnered significant attention as a promising material for engineering specific biological receptors with superior chemical complementarity to target molecules. In this study, we present an electrochemical biosensing platform incorporating MIP films for the selective detection of the interleukin-1β (IL-1β) biomarker, particularly suitable for mobile point-of-care testing (POCT) applications. The IL-1β-imprinted biosensors were composed of poly(eriochrome black T (EBT)), including an interlayer of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) and a 4-aminothiophenol monolayer, which were electrochemically polymerized simultaneously with template proteins (i.e., IL-1β) on custom flexible screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs). The architecture of the MIP films was designed to enhance the sensor sensitivity and signal stability. This approach involved a straightforward sequential-electropolymerization process and extraction for leaving behind cavities (i.e., rebinding sites), resulting in the efficient production of MIP-based biosensors capable of molecular recognition for selective IL-1β detection. The electrochemical behaviors were comprehensively investigated using cyclic voltammograms and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy responses to assess the imprinting effect on the MIP films formed on the SPCEs. In line with the current trend in in vitro diagnostic medical devices, our simple and effective MIP-based analytical system integrated with mobile POCT devices offers a promising route to the rapid detection of biomarkers, with particular potential for periodontitis screening.

Abstract
We search for energetic electron recoil signals induced by boosted dark matter (BDM) from the galactic center using the COSINE-100 array of NaI(Tl) crystal detectors at the Yangyang Underground Laboratory. The signal would be an excess of events with energies above 4 MeV over the well-understood background. Because no excess of events are observed in a 97.7 kg·yr exposure, we set limits on BDM interactions under a variety of hypotheses. Notably, we explored the dark photon parameter space, leading to competitive limits compared to direct dark photon search experiments, particularly for dark photon masses below 4 MeV and considering the invisible decay mode. Furthermore, by comparing our results with a previous BDM search conducted by the Super-Kamionkande experiment, we found that the COSINE-100 detector has advantages in searching for low-mass dark matter. This analysis demonstrates the potential of the COSINE-100 detector to search for MeV electron recoil signals produced by the dark sector particle interactions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although many formulas for predicting postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) have been introduced, POPF is generally predicted during pancreatic surgery due to pancreatic texture. This study was designed to verify the correlation between Hounsfield units (HU) and pancreatic texture and to suggest a fistula risk score (FRS) that can be used before surgery. METHODS Data from 545 patients who underwent pancreatoduodenectomy for malignant disease between January 2008 and December 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. The HU level of the pancreas was measured, and odds ratio (OR) of the HU for POPF was analyzed. Additionally, the assessed HU was compared with the pancreatic texture (soft vs. hard) and calculated cutoff level. Finally, the preoperatively chosen pancreatic texture according to HU level was applied to the FRS formula (preoperative-FRS: p-FRS), and the results were compared with a previously reported FRS formula (updated alternative-FRS: ua-FRS). RESULTS The Hounsfield unit levels were correlated with clinically relevant POPF (CR-POPF) (odds ratio [OR]: 1.04 (1.01-1.07), p = 0.015). In the receiver operating characteristic curve, the HU showed significant prediction potential for pancreatic texture (area under the curve [AUC]: 0.744, p < 0.001). The p-FRS also showed acceptable results in predicting CR-POPF (AUC = 0.702, p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in the DeLong's test compared with the ua-FRS (p = 0.314). In the Hosmer-Lemeshow test, observed probabilities were correlated with predicted probabilities (p = 0.596). CONCLUSIONS The HU level on preoperative computed tomography (CT) is a predictive factor for POPF and could represent for pancreatic texture.

Abstract
Hybridizing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with π-conjugated organic small molecules (π-OSMs) offers a promising approach for producing high-performance thermoelectric (TE) materials through the facile optimization of the molecular geometry and energy levels of π-OSMs. Designing a twisted molecular structure for the π-OSM with the highest occupied molecular orbital energy level comparable to the valence band of SWCNTs enables effective energy filtering between the two materials. The SWCNTs/twisted π-OSM hybrid exhibits a high Seebeck coefficient of 110.4 ± 2.6 µV K-1 , leading to a significantly improved power factor of 2,136 µW m-1 K-2 , which is 2.6 times higher than that of SWCNTs. Moreover, a maximum figure of merit over 0.13 at room temperature is achieved via the efficient TE transport of the SWCNTs/twisted π-OSM hybrid. The study highlights the promising potential of optimizing molecular engineering of π-OSMs for hybridization with SWCNTs to create next-generation, efficient TE materials.

Abstract
Genes encoding subunits of the SWI/SNF or BAF ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex are among the most enriched for deleterious de novo mutations in intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, but the causative molecular pathways are not fully known 1,2 . Synaptic activity in neurons is critical for learning and memory and proper neural development 3 . Neural activity prompts calcium influx and transcription within minutes, facilitated in the nucleus by various transcription factors (TFs) and chromatin modifiers 4 . While BAF is required for activity-dependent developmental processes such as dendritic outgrowth 5-7 , the immediate molecular consequences of neural activity on BAF complexes and their functions are unknown. Here we mapped minute-scale biochemical consequences of neural activity, modeled by membrane depolarization of embryonic mouse primary cortical neurons, on BAF complexes. We used acute chemical perturbations of BAF ATPase activity and kinase signaling to define the activity-dependent effects on BAF complexes and activity-dependent BAF functions. Our studies found that BAF complexes change in subunit composition and are selectively phosphorylated within 10 minutes of depolarization. Increased levels of the core PBAF subunit Baf200/ Arid2 , uniquely containing an RFX-like DNA-binding domain, are concurrent with ATPase-dependent opening of chromatin at RFX/X-box motifs. Changes in BAF composition and phosphorylation lead to the regulation of chromatin accessibility for critical neurogenesis TFs. These biochemical effects are a convergent phenomenon downstream of multiple growth factor signaling pathways in mouse neurons and fibroblasts suggesting that BAF integrates signaling information from the membrane. In support of such a membrane-to-nucleus signaling cascade, we also identified a BAF-interacting kinase, Dclk2, whose inhibition attenuates BAF phosphorylation selectively. Our findings support a direct role of BAF complexes in responding to synaptic activity to regulate TF binding and transcription.

Abstract
The stability of n-type organic and hybrid thermoelectric materials is limited in terms of their practical application to p-n parallel thermoelectric devices. We demonstrate the ambient stability of an n-type single-walled carbon nanotube/organic small-molecule (SWNT/OSM) hybrid by deepening the lowest occupied molecular orbital energy level. This hybrid exhibited the best figure of merit (0.032) among n-type SWNT/OSM hybrid thermoelectrics and an enhanced power factor of 291.0 μW m-1 K-2. Furthermore, we observed that the n-type thermoelectric stability of a hybrid of SWNT and pip containing two N-ethylpiperidinyl groups on both sides of a naphthalenediimide core was retained at 87% over 7 months (220 days) under ambient conditions without encapsulation.

Abstract
Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) is a rare congenital anomaly that is clinically defined by developmental delay and characteristic brain magnetic resonance imaging findings, including optic nerve hypoplasia, pituitary hormone abnormalities, and midline brain defects. The occurrence of SOD is generally sporadic; however, it can be inherited rarely. Although an association with HESX1, SOX2, and SOX3 mutations has been identified, the detailed etiology is multifactorial and unclear. Here, we present the case of a 7-year-old girl who was clinically diagnosed with SOD and 15q13.3 duplication. Patients with duplication at chromosome 15q13.3 were reported to be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, epilepsy, and schizophrenia in previous studies. The relationship between SOD and the microduplication of 15q13.3 has not yet been explored. In this study, we suggest that there may be an association between chromosome 15q13.3 microduplication and SOD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Phase 3 IKEMA study (NCT03275285) demonstrated isatuximab (Isa) in combination with carfilzomib (K) and dexamethasone (d) significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with relapsed multiple myeloma (MM) compared with Kd. A post-hoc analysis of East Asian patients in IKEMA evaluated the efficacy and safety of Isa-Kd versus Kd in this population and was previously published. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with relapsed MM who had received 1 to 3 prior lines of therapy were randomized 3:2 to receive Isa-Kd or Kd. The primary endpoint was PFS, and key secondary endpoints included rate of very good partial response or better (≥VGPR), complete response (CR) rate, and minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity. Of the IKEMA overall population, 46 patients were of East Asian descent. This is an updated analysis of the efficacy and safety of Isa-Kd in East Asian patients, including data through 14 January 2022. RESULTS Isa-Kd continued to demonstrate improved efficacy and safety versus Kd in East Asian patients with relapsed MM, with improved PFS, rate of ≥VGPR, CR rate, and MRD negativity, that was consistent with the overall IKEMA population. The rate of Grade ≥3 treatment-emergent adverse events was also consistent with the prior analysis and overall IKEMA population. CONCLUSION Based on the results of this analysis, Isa-Kd is a novel treatment option for East Asian patients with relapsed MM.

Abstract
The triage process in emergency departments (EDs) relies on the subjective assessment of medical practitioners, making it unreliable in certain aspects. There is a need for a more accurate and objective algorithm to determine the urgency of patients. This paper explores the application of advanced data-synthesis algorithms, machine learning (ML) algorithms, and ensemble models to predict patient mortality. Patients predicted to be at risk of mortality are in a highly critical condition, signifying an urgent need for immediate medical intervention. This paper aims to determine the most effective method for predicting mortality by enhancing the F1 score while maintaining high area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) score. This study used a dataset of 7325 patients who visited the Yonsei Severance Hospital's ED, located in Seoul, South Korea. The patients were divided into two groups: patients who deceased in the ED and patients who didn't. Various data-synthesis techniques, such as SMOTE, ADASYN, CTGAN, TVAE, CopulaGAN, and Gaussian Copula, were deployed to generate synthetic patient data. Twenty two ML models were then utilized, including tree-based algorithms like Decision tree, AdaBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, XGBoost, NGBoost, TabNet, which are deep neural network algorithms, and statistical algorithms such as Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, Random Forest, k-nearest neighbors, and Gaussian Naive Bayes, as well as Ensemble Models which use the results from the ML models. Based on 21 patient information features used in the pandemic influenza triage algorithm (PITA), the models explained previously were applied to aim for the prediction of patient mortality. In evaluating ML algorithms using an imbalanced medical dataset, conventional metrics like accuracy scores or AUC can be misleading. This paper emphasizes the importance of using the F1 score as the primary performance measure, focusing on recall and specificity in detecting patient mortality. The highest-ranked model for predicting mortality utilized the Gaussian Copula data-synthesis technique and the CatBoost classifier, achieving an AUC of 0.9731 and an F1 score of 0.7059. These findings highlight the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms and data-synthesis techniques in improving the prediction performance of mortality in EDs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Central to the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the accumulation of lipids in the liver and various fat tissues. We aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which lipid droplets (LDs) in the liver and adipocytes are degraded by the autophagy-lysosome system and develop therapeutic means to modulate lipophagy, i.e., autophagic degradation of LDs. METHODS We monitored the process in which LDs are pinched off by autophagic membranes and degraded by lysosomal hydrolases in cultured cells and mice. The autophagic receptor p62/SQSTM-1/Sequestosome-1 was identified as a key regulator and used as a target to develop drugs to induce lipophagy. The efficacy of p62 agonists was validated in mice to treat hepatosteatosis and obesity. RESULTS We found that the N-degron pathway modulates lipophagy. This autophagic degradation initiates when the molecular chaperones including BiP/GRP78, retro-translocated from the endoplasmic reticulum, is N-terminally (Nt-) arginylated by ATE1 R-transferase. The resulting Nt-arginine (Nt-Arg) binds the ZZ domain of p62 associated with LDs. Upon binding to Nt-Arg, p62 undergoes self-polymerization and recruits LC3+ phagophores to the site of lipophagy, leading to lysosomal degradation. Liver-specific Ate1 conditional knockout mice under high fat diet developed severe NAFLD. The Nt-Arg was modified into small molecule agonists to p62 that facilitate lipophagy in mice and exerted therapeutic efficacy in obesity and hepatosteatosis of wild-type but not p62 knockout mice. CONCLUSIONS Our results show that the N-degron pathway modulates lipophagy and provide p62 as a drug target to treat NAFLD and other diseases related with metabolic syndrome.

Abstract
Pancreatic hamartoma is a benign tumor of the pancreas with an extremely low incidence and is commonly diagnosed by pathologic examination after surgery. This report describes the case of a 57-year-old female who was referred for the evaluation of a pancreatic mass and an adrenal incidentaloma. Further imaging studies suggested pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and aldosterone-producing adrenal tumor. Pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed with the initial impression of a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. However, pathology results revealed a pancreatic hamartoma. Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 syndrome was discussed as a probable explanation for tumor masses in both the pancreas and adrenal gland.

Abstract
We report the direct observation of muon neutrino interactions with the SND@LHC detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A dataset of proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13.6 TeV collected by SND@LHC in 2022 is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.8 fb^{-1}. The search is based on information from the active electronic components of the SND@LHC detector, which covers the pseudorapidity region of 7.2<η<8.4, inaccessible to the other experiments at the collider. Muon neutrino candidates are identified through their charged-current interaction topology, with a track propagating through the entire length of the muon detector. After selection cuts, 8 ν_{μ} interaction candidate events remain with an estimated background of 0.086 events, yielding a significance of about 7 standard deviations for the observed ν_{μ} signal.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although the importance of sleep problems has been increasingly emphasized due to the effects on children's development and children's and families' daytime behaviors, physical health, and quality of life, they have been overlooked in clinical practice. However, there have been few studies on the effects of rehabilitation on sleep problems. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the effects of an intensive rehabilitation program on sleep problems in children with developmental delays (DD). METHODS We included 36 children with DD (30 outpatients, 6 inpatients) and their caregivers who completed all items on the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children. Of the children with DD, 19 (59.3%) had cerebral palsy (CP) and 13 (40.7%) had DD of non-CP origins, of which 6 (18.8%) had prematurity, 4 (12.5%) had genetic causes, and 3 (9.4%) had an unknown origin. Changes in sleep problems after the intensive rehabilitation program were evaluated using a paired or unpaired t-test, depending on the distribution of the continuous variables. RESULTS After the intensive rehabilitation program, in 36 children with DD, there was a significant improvement in the difficulty in initiating and maintaining sleep (DIMS) sub-score (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant improvement in the total score or other sub-scores, such as those for sleep breathing disorders (SBD), disorders of arousal (DA), sleep-wake transition disorders (SWTD), disorders of excessive somnolence (DOES), and sleep hyperhidrosis (SH). In the subgroup analysis according to the cause of DD, children with CP had a significant improvement in DIMS and DOES sub-scores (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION The intensive rehabilitation program, consisting of more than two sessions per day, effectively alleviated sleep problems in children with DD, especially in those with CP. Among the sleep problems, the intensive rehabilitative program was most effective at improving the DIMS. However, further prospective studies with a larger number of patients with DD and a more standardized protocol are necessary to generalize this effect.

Abstract
Cladosporium species are cosmopolitan fungi, characterized by olivaceous or dark colonies with coronate conidiogenous loci and conidial hila with a central convex dome surrounded by a raised periclinal rim. Cladosporium species have also been discovered in marine environments. Although many studies have been performed on the application of marine originated Cladosporium species, taxonomic studies on these species are scarce. We isolated Cladosporium species from three under-studied habitats (sediment, seawater, and seaweed) in two districts including an intertidal zone in the Republic of Korea and the open sea in the Western Pacific Ocean. Based on multigenetic marker analyses (for the internal transcribed spacer, actin, and translation elongation factor 1), we identified fourteen species, of which five were found to represent new species. These five species were C.lagenariiformesp. nov., C.maltirimosumsp. nov., C.marinumsp. nov. in the C.cladosporioides species complex, C.snafimbriatumsp. nov. in the C.herbarum species complex, and C.marinisedimentumsp. nov. in the C.sphaerospermum species complex. Morphological characteristics of the new species and aspects of differences with the already known species are described herein together with molecular data.

Abstract
The β-delayed proton decay of ^{13}O has previously been studied, but the direct observation of β-delayed 3αp decay has not been reported. Rare 3αp events from the decay of excited states in ^{13}N^{⋆} provide a sensitive probe of cluster configurations in ^{13}N. To measure the low-energy products following β-delayed 3αp decay, the Texas Active Target (TexAT) time projection chamber was employed using the one-at-a-time β-delayed charged-particle spectroscopy technique at the Cyclotron Institute, Texas A&M University. A total of 1.9×10^{5} ^{13}O implantations were made inside the TexAT time projection chamber. A total of 149 3αp events were observed, yielding a β-delayed 3αp branching ratio of 0.078(6)%. Four previously unknown α-decaying excited states were observed in ^{13}N at 11.3, 12.4, 13.1, and 13.7 MeV decaying via the 3α+p channel.

Abstract
The strain applied to transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) reduces their energy bandgap, and local strains result in a funnel-like band structure in which funneled excitons move toward the most strained region. Herein, a funnel device based on asymmetrically strained WS2 and MoS2 is reported. Asymmetric strains are induced by transferring the TMD flakes onto a fork-shaped SU-8 microstructure. Raman and photoluminescence spectra peaks are shifted according to the morphology of the SU-8 microstructure, indicating the application of asymmetric strains to the TMDs. To investigate whether funneled excitons can be converted to electrical currents, various devices are constructed by depositing symmetric and asymmetric electrodes onto the strained TMDs. The scanning photocurrent mapping images follow a fork-shaped pattern, indicating probable conversion of the funneled excitons into electrical currents. In the case of the funnel devices with asymmetric Au and Al electrodes, short-circuit current (ISC ) of WS2 is enhanced by the strains, whereas ISC of MoS2 is suppressed because the Schottky barrier lowers with increasing strain for the MoS2 . These results demonstrate that the funnel devices can be implemented using asymmetrically strained TMDs and the effect of strains on the Schottky barrier is dependent on the TMD used.

Abstract
Subthreshold depolarization enhances neurotransmitter release evoked by action potentials and plays a key role in modulating synaptic transmission by combining analog and digital signals. This process is known to be Ca2+ dependent. However, the underlying mechanism of how small changes in basal Ca2+ caused by subthreshold depolarization can regulate transmitter release triggered by a large increase in local Ca2+ is not well understood. This study aimed to investigate the source and signaling mechanisms of Ca2+ that couple subthreshold depolarization with the enhancement of glutamate release in hippocampal cultures and CA3 pyramidal neurons. Subthreshold depolarization increased presynaptic Ca2+ levels, the frequency of spontaneous release, and the amplitude of evoked release, all of which were abolished by blocking L-type Ca2+ channels. A high concentration of intracellular Ca2+ buffer or blockade of calmodulin abolished depolarization-induced increases in transmitter release. Estimation of the readily releasable pool size using hypertonic sucrose showed depolarization-induced increases in readily releasable pool size, and this increase was abolished by the blockade of calmodulin. Our results provide mechanistic insights into the modulation of transmitter release by subthreshold potential change and highlight the role of L-type Ca2+ channels in coupling subthreshold depolarization to the activation of Ca2+-dependent signaling molecules that regulate transmitter release.

Abstract
Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms of the gallbladder are rare with a lack of established standardized therapeutic strategies. We report a case of gallbladder mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm with liver metastasis of neuroendocrine carcinoma. A patient who underwent radical cholecystectomy for gallbladder adenocarcinoma was detected with increasing liver mass, and hepatectomy was performed. Pathological report revealed neuroendocrine carcinoma. To find primary origin, pathological review of the old specimen from previous cholecystectomy with a slightly different perspective was conducted, where the neuroendocrine component was positively dyed. In conclusion, though it might be impossible to review every pathological result in cases with ambiguous findings, reviewing the previous specimen can be a useful option in diagnosis.

Abstract
A 51-year-old male patient had four times of massive hematochezia episode three days before arrival. Carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9 level was extremely elevated. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography-computed tomography identified 5.7 cm sized periampullary duodenal cancer with regional metastatic lymph nodes and vascular invasion to aberrant right hepatic artery, main portal vein, and superior mesenteric vein. Diagnosed as duodenal adenocarcinoma through endoscopic biopsy, 16 times of FOLFIRI (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan) was conducted. The regimen changed to XELOX (capecitabine, oxaliplatine), four times of administration was done, and the CA19-9 level dramatically decreased. The tumor decreased to 2.1 cm. After R0 laparoscopic pylorus preserving pancreatoduodenectomy, no adjuvant therapy was given. No sign of recurrence or metastasis was reported, and the patient reached complete remission after five years. We reported a case where neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced duodenal adenocarcinoma was shown to be effective.

Abstract
715 Background: Various peri-operative treatments have been tested to increase the survival of localized PDAC. Even with superior survival among various disease extent of PDAC, resectable PDAC still shows poor outcomes with surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. We report the result of a multi-institutional phase II trial of modified-FOLFIRINOX as neoadjuvant treatment for resectable PDAC. Methods: Treatment naïve pts with histologically confirmed resectable PDAC were enrolled. Resectability was confirmed by both CT and MRI according to NCCN resectability criteria (no arterial tumor contact to celiac axis, SMA or CHA; no tumor contact with SMV or PV or ≤180° contact without vein contour irregularity) in multidisciplinary team meeting. Patients received oxaliplatin 85mg/m2 D1 + leucovorin 400mg/m2 D1 + irinotecan 150mg/m2 D1 + 5-FU 2,000mg/m2 46h continuous infusion, every other week for 6 cycles (12 weeks). Response assessments were performed every 6 weeks using the RECIST criteria version 1.1. Baseline MRI, PET-CT scan, and pre-surgery MRI after 6 cycles were mandatory. The primary endpoint was R0 resection rate. Secondary endpoints included survivals, ORR, safety, resection rate, and correlative biomarker exploration. (NCT05066802). Results: Total of 27 pts were enrolled between May 2020 and Feb 2022. Among total 27 pts, 24 pts underwent curative aim surgery after neoadjuvant treatment (resection rate 88.9%), and 23 pts showed R0 resection (23/27=85.2%), meeting the primary endpoint. Among 27 pts, 19 pts (70.4%) completed the neoadjuvant treatment per protocol. The reasons for neoadjuvant treatment discontinuation included progression of the disease (n=3, 11.1%) and pts withdrawal (n=5, 18.5%). Among 19 patients who underwent surgery per protocol, only one patient was R1 resected (R0 resection rate=94.7%). As of Sep 1, 2022 (median follow-up duration = 15.2 months) 6 pts recurred after surgery (6/19=31.6%). Median recur-free survival was 18.7 months (95%CI 13.6-NR) and median OS was not reached (95%CI 17.6-NR) for the per protocol treated pts. Treatment-related AE (≥G3) occurred in 10 pts (37.0%) including 7 (25.9%) with neutropenia G3-4. Conclusions: Three months of neoadjuvant mFOLFIRINOX was feasible and tolerable for resectable PDAC. Larger randomized trial is needed to validate the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for resectable pancreatic cancer and to find subgroup of pts who would get benefit most from the neoadjuvant treatment. Objectives
Conflicting results regarding sex-based differences in the outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients have been reported. Furthermore, no study has examined whether differences in in-hospital interventions and courses are driven by sex differences. This study evaluated the effect of sex on the in-hospital course of these patients as well as the survival rates and long-term neurological outcomes of comatose OHCA patients treated with targeted temperature management (TTM).
Methods
We retrospectively analyzed the Korean Hypothermia Network prospective registry composed of data collected from 22 hospitals in Korea between October 2015 and December 2018. To evaluate the effect of sex on patient outcomes, we created various multivariate logistic regression models including baseline characteristics, resuscitation, and in-hospital care variables with an interaction term (age × sex). We also performed a stratified analysis of different age groups (less than 50 years of age and older). Regarding the difference in in-hospital courses, we compared daily total and SOFA sub-scores between the sexes and analyzed whether the decision regarding early cardiac interventions and limitations in in-hospital care were associated with sex.
Results
Among 1339 patients included in the study, 952 were men and 387 were women. There were no differences in age or modified comorbidity index values between the gender groups. Women were more likely to experience cardiac arrest at home and unwitnessed arrests, whereas men were more likely to have shockable initial rhythm, cardiac cause arrest, and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) on initial electrocardiography and undergo early coronary interventions. The rate of survival to discharge was similar, but men showed better 6-month neurological outcomes. After adjusting for confounders, the male sex was not associated with survival to discharge or good 6-month neurological outcomes. There was no association between sex and outcome in patients of reproductive age and no interaction between age and sex. Regarding the in-hospital course, the daily total and SOFA sub-scores were similar in both sexes. The adjusted effect of sex was not associated with the clinician’s decision to perform early cardiac interventions. The decision to discontinue life-sustaining treatment was determined by poor prognostic factors, not by sex.
Conclusions
The findings suggested that men had more favorable 6-month survivals and good neurological outcomes compared to women since they had more favorable resuscitation variables. However, after adjusting for confounders, there was no difference between the sexes. This result was consistent with the data in patients of reproductive age. The results regarding in-hospital course showed that daily patient severity scores, early cardiac interventions, resource consumption, and the rates of withdrawal/withholding of in-hospital care were similar in men and women.

Abstract
The central nervous system is organized into different neural circuits, each with particular functions and properties. Studying neural circuits is essential to understanding brain function and neuronal diseases. Microfluidic systems are widely used for reconstructing and studying neural circuits but still need improvement to allow modulation and monitoring of the physiological properties of circuits. In this study, we constructed an improved microfluidic device that supports the electrical modulation of neural circuits and proper reassembly. We demonstrated that our microfluidic device provides a platform for electrically modulating and monitoring the physiological function of neural circuits with genetic indicators for synaptic functionality in corticostriatal (CStr) circuits. In particular, our microfluidic device measures activity-driven Ca2+ dynamics using Ca2+ indicators (synaptophysin-GCaMP6f and Fluo5F-AM), as well as activity-driven synaptic transmission and retrieval using vGlut-pHluorin. Overall, our findings indicate that the improved microfluidic platform described here is an invaluable tool for studying the physiological properties of specific neural circuits.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Acute low back pain (LBP) is a common condition that can be chronic if not properly treated. Aceclofenac and eperisone hydrochloride are commonly prescribed drugs for acute LBP and muscle spasms. Therefore, NVP-1203, a fixed-dose combination of 100 mg aceclofenac and 75 mg eperisone hydrochloride, is being developed. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of NVP-1203 compared to those of a single administration of 100 mg aceclofenac in patients with acute LBP and muscle spasms. PATIENTS AND METHODS Overall, 455 patients with acute LBP and muscle spasms were enrolled. The patients were assigned to NVP-1203 or Airtal group (aceclofenac 100 mg). The primary efficacy endpoint was the mean change in the 100 mm pain movement and resting visual analog scale (VAS) scores on treatment day 7. RESULTS The mean change in the 100 mm pain movement/resting VAS scores from baseline to day 7 was -49.7 ± 21.5/-41.0 ± 19.4 mm and -38.8 ± 18.9/-33.8 ± 18.0 mm for the NVP-1203 and Airtal groups, respectively. The differences between the two groups were statistically significant (movement, p < 0.0001; resting, p = 0.0002). Differences in least-square (LS) mean change of the 100 mm pain movement/resting VAS score between the two groups using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) model was -10.2/-7.4 mm, and the upper limit of the 95% confidence interval was -6.44/-4.16 mm. CONCLUSIONS NVP-1203 is more effective in reducing pain than the 100 mg aceclofenac alone. However, the two drugs have similar safety profiles in patients with acute LBP and muscle spasms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Successful cryopreservation of bovine oocytes is very important for research and commercial applications. However, the survival and development rate of vitrified-thawed (VT) oocytes are lower than those of non-vitrified-thawed (non-VT) oocytes. OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of adding hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) to the vitrification solution for bovine oocytes. MATERIALS AND METHODS For vitrification, bovine metaphase II oocytes were pretreated with a solution containing 10% ethylene glycol supplemented with 0, 10, 50, or 100 ug/mL HPC for 5 min, exposed to a solution containing 30% ethylene glycol supplemented with 0, 10, 50, or 100 ug/mL HPC for 30 s, and then directly plunged into liquid nitrogen. RESULTS The survival rate of oocytes was significantly higher in the 50 HPC group than in the 0, 10, and 100 HPC groups. The reactive oxygen species level was lower in the non-VT and 50 HPC groups than in the other groups. The mRNA levels of proapoptotic genes (Bax) were lower in the non-VT, 0, and 50 HPC groups than in the other groups. The mRNA levels of antiapoptotic genes (BCl2) were higher in the non-VT than in the other groups. The development rates of embryos (day 8) obtained via parthenogenetic activation (PA) were determined in the non-VT, 0 HPC, and 50 HPC groups. The cleavage rate was significantly higher in the non-VT group. CONCLUSION Supplementation of vitrification solution with HPC improves the survival of VT bovine oocytes and the development capacity of embryos derived from these oocytes via PA. doi.org/10.54680/fr23110110212.

Abstract
Plastic wastes have a negative impact on marine environments; however, they can be used as carbon sources and habitats by certain microbes. Microbes in the marine plastisphere can migrate worldwide through the ocean and cause serious environmental problems when they encounter suitable environments. Therefore, efforts to investigate the microbes inhabiting the marine plastisphere are increasing. In the present study, fungal strains were isolated from plastic wastes buried in Korean sea sands and mudflats and identified using molecular and morphological analyses. Five species were identified that were previously unrecorded from South Korea: Cladosporium funiculosum, Neosetophoma poaceicola, Neosetophoma rosigena, Parasarocladium gamsii, and Trichoderma fomiticola. Their molecular phylogenies and morphological characteristics are described in this study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy (MIPD) is a challenging procedure. Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is feasible and safe. Since the development of robotic platforms, the number of reports on robot-assisted pancreatic surgery has increased. We compared the technical feasibility and safety between LPD and robot-assisted LPD (RALPD). METHODS From September 2012 to August 2020, 257 patients who underwent MIPD for periampullary tumors were enrolled. Of these, 207 underwent LPD and 50 underwent RALPD. We performed a 1:1 propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis and retrospectively analyzed the demographics and surgical outcomes. RESULTS After PSM analysis, no difference was noted in demographics. Operation times and estimated blood loss were similar, as was the incidence of complications (p > 0.05). In subgroup analysis in patients with soft pancreas with pancreatic duct ≤ 2 mm, no significant between-group difference was noted regarding short-term surgical outcomes, including clinically relevant POPF (CR-POPF) (p > 0.05). In multivariable analysis, the only soft pancreatic texture was a predictive factor (HR 3.887, 95% confidence interval 1.121-13.480, p = 0.032). CONCLUSION RALPD and LPD are safe and effective for MIPD and can compensate each other to achieve the goal of minimally invasive surgery.

Abstract
This study encoded the complete mitochondrial genomic sequence of the little ringed plover Charadrius dubius. The mitochondrial genome has a total length of 16,864 bp, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and a control region. The nucleotide composition was 23.8% T, 31.6% A, 30.8% C, and 13.8% G. This study provides the basic information on the mitogenome of C. dubius and supports the understanding of mitogenomic information and its phylogenetic relationship within Charadriiformes.
