Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) based models in the assessment of extra-prostatic extension (EPE) of prostate cancer. Methods: This retrospective study included 168 consecutive men with prostate cancers [aged 48 to 82 (66.6±6.8) years] who underwent radical prostatectomy and preoperative mpMRI examinations at the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital from January 2021 to February 2022. According to European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) score, EPE grade and mEPE score, all cases were independently evaluated by two radiologists, with disagreement reviewed by a senior radiologist as the final result. The diagnostic performance of each MRI-based model for pathologic EPE prediction was assessed using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), and the differences between the corresponding area under the curve (AUC) were compared using the DeLong test. The weighted Kappa test was used to evaluate the inter-reader agreement of each MRI-based model. Results: A total of 62 (36.9%) prostate cancer patients had pathologic confirmed EPE after radical prostatectomy. The AUC of ESUR score, EPE grade and mEPE score for predicting pathologic EPE were 0.836 (95%CI: 0.771-0.888), 0.834 (95%CI: 0.769-0.887) and 0.785 (95%CI: 0.715-0.844), respectively. The AUC of ESUR score and EPE grade were both superior to that of mEPE score with significant differences (all P<0.05), while there was no significant difference between the ESUR score and EPE grade models (P=0.900). EPE grading and mEPE score had good inter-reader consistency, with weighted Kappa values of 0.65 (95%CI: 0.56-0.74) and 0.74 (95%CI: 0.64-0.84), respectively. The inter-reader consistency of ESUR score was moderate, and the weighted Kappa value was 0.52 (95%CI: 0.40-0.63). Conclusion: All MRI-based models showed good preoperative diagnostic value in predicting EPE, among which the EPE grade resulted in more reliable performance with substantial inter-reader agreement.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the value of clear cell likelihood score (ccLS) in identifying renal oncocytoma (RO) and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Methods: Retrospective data of pathologically confirmed 43 RO patients [24 men and 19 women, aged 22-77 (54±14) years] between February 2008 and September 2021 and 43 ccRCC patients [30 men and 13 women, aged 29-78 (56±12) years] between May and July 2021 were consecutively included in the department of radiology, Chinese PLA General Hospital. Two radiologists used ccLS to assess each case independently, and disagreements were resolved by consensus. The ability of ccLS to identify RO and ccRCC was examined by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve which identified the best optimal diagnostic cut-off values, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value. Results: The mean tumor diameter was 3.8 cm in RO patients and 3.7 cm in ccRCC patients. Central scar and segmental enhancement inversion (SEI) were more frequently observed in the RO group compared to the ccRCC group [53.5% (23∶43) versus 11.6% (5∶43) and 41.9% (18∶43) versus 7.0% (3∶43), respectively], with statistical differences (P<0.001). The ccLS scores in the RO group ranged from 1 to 4, while 79.0% of the cases were 3. The ccLS scores in the ccRCC group ranged from 2 to 5, while 72% of the cases were 4. The scores of the two groups were statistically different (P<0.001). The ccLS showed the best performance when the threshold was 4 according to the ROC curve. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of ccLS for distinguishing RO from ccRCC were 83.7%, 90.7%, 87.2%, 90.0%, and 84.8%, respectively, and the area under the ROC curve value was 0.879. Conclusion: The ccLS has credible sensitivity and specificity in differentiating renal oncocytoma from clear cell carcinoma, which may be helpful for the preoperative diagnosis.

Abstract
As an important food production area in the north of China, the Hetao plain is extremely vulnerable to nitrate pollution caused by agricultural production activities and additional factors. Thus, it is of great significance for the environmental protection and rational use of groundwater to detect the current situation of groundwater nitrate pollution, temporal and spatial evolution characteristics, and main influencing factors in the Hetao irrigation district. We selected the Wualte irrigation area as the study area, and the characteristics of temporal and spatial changes in groundwater nitrate concentration and the main influencing factors in this area were explored. We used statistical analysis to analyze the nitrogen content of groundwater in the study area, and the Piper three-line diagram was used to explore the characteristics of chemical composition and evolution; furthermore, we used ion ratio and correlation analysis methods to explore the source of NO3--N in groundwater. The results showed that NO3--N was the main existing form of nitrogen in the Wulate irrigation area, and its concentration varied from 0.01 to 60.00 mg·L-1, with an exceeding standard rate of 10.50%. In terms of time, the characteristic of time change was that the NO3--N concentration in August of groundwater was the highest (average 6.61 mg·L-1), followed by that in October (6.22 mg·L-1) and November (6.25 mg·L-1), and that in March (average value of 1.77 mg·L-1) was the lowest. With the influence of rainfall and irrigation, the NO3--N in the soil was infiltrated into the groundwater, showing the characteristic that wet season and concentrated irrigation periods were higher than those in other periods. Spatially, it appeared as southwest (8.87 mg·L-1)>northwest (4.25 mg·L-1)>east (0.89 mg·L-1), mainly due to the original geological conditions, land use, and domestic waste stacking. In addition, the concentration of NO3--N of groundwater in the study area was closely related to the depth of groundwater and redox conditions but was relatively less affected by the concentration of water chemical ions. Therefore, identifying the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics and main sources of groundwater nitrogen pollution can provide a scientific basis for scientific fertilization, groundwater nitrate pollution control, and water safety.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the predictive value of ejection fraction for the postoperative myocardial infarction after coronary endarterectomy (CE) in patients with diffuse coronary artery disease (DCAD). Methods: Patients who underwent cardiac artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and CE in Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from May 2018 to December 2020 were enrolled in this prospective observational study. Baseline features including age, sex and echocardiography parameters were obtained. Left ventricular ejection fraction(EF) was measured by echocardiography. The patients were divided into postoperative myocardial infarction (PMI) group and non-PMI group according to PMI occurrence. Linear regression analysis, logistic regression model, and receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve were used to analyze the correlation between left ventricular ejection fraction and PMI and the influencing factors. Results: A total of 120 patients were enrolled in the study. There were 32 patients (27%) in the PMI group (male 27(84%), age (62±8)), inferior myocardial infarction occurred in 24 (75%) patients. There were 88 patients (73%) in the non-PMI group (male 70(80%), age (62±8)). EF (55% (49%, 64%) vs. 62% (55%, 67%), P=0.01) was significantly lower in the PMI group than in the non-PMI group. Perioperative TNI, IABP use and length of hospitalization were significantly higher in the PMI group than in the non-PMI group. Multivariate logistic regression showed that lower EF was an independent risk factor of PMI (OR=0.93, 95%CI: 0.89-0.98, P=0.01) after adjusting age, sex and body mass index. ROC curve analysis showed that EF<60% could sufficiently predict the occurrence of PMI (AUC= 0.67, sensitivity 64%, specificity 69%, P=0.01). Linear regression analysis showed that left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (OR=-0.52, 95%CI:-1.13-0.60, P<0.001), graft flow in left anterior descending (OR=-0.20, 95%CI:-0.15-0.01, P=0.02) and history of diabetes (OR=-0.28, 95%CI:-8.25-1.85, P=0.002) were negatively correlated with preoperative EF value. Conclusion: Lower preoperative EF is an independent risk factor for PMI after CABG and CE in DCAD patients, closely related to the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, graft flow in left anterior descending artery and diabetes mellitus.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinicpathological, immunohistochemical and molecular genetic features of malignant mixed mesodermal tumor (MMMT) in the female reproductive system. Methods: To analyze its histopathological characteristics, we performed a retrospective review of the MMMT cases diagnosed at PLA General Hospital, Beijing, China during 2005-2019 using its surgical and pathological databases. EnVision immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of ER, PR, p16, p53 and MMR proteins. Results: Fifty cases were conformed to the diagnosis, including 29 cases originated in the uterus, 16 cases in ovary, 4 cases of synchronous occurrence in uterus and ovary, 1 case in cervix. The tumor was histologically composed of two components, namely carcinoma and sarcoma ones, with clear borderline or blend mutually. The proportion of cancer component in the whole tumor ranged from 5%-90%. The proportion of carcinoma was more than 50% in 76% of the cases, and less than 50% in 24% of cases, including 2 cases with<10% of carcinoma. In the cases of primary uterine MMMT, the main carcinoma type was high grade endometrioid carcinoma (55%, 16/29). In ovarian MMMT, the main carcinoma type was serous carcinoma (12/16), while that of cervical MMMT was squamous cell carcinoma. The others were clear cell carcinoma or the undifferentiated carcinoma. There was one carcinoma type in most cases, only 7 cases had two carcinoma types. Homologous sarcomas, including stromal sarcoma, leiomyosarcoma and high-grade spindle cell sarcomas, were more commonly found in uterine MMMT (72.4%, 21/29). While heterogenic sarcomas, including chondrosarcoma, osteosarcoma and rhabdomyosarcoma, were more commonly noted in ovarian MMMT (12/16) than MMMT of other sites. There were 10 cases that consisted of two types of sarcomas. The synchronous MMMT of uterus and ovary had similar morphology and the types of carcinoma and sarcoma. The tumor cells that spread or metastasized to lymph node, omentum, intestinal wall or skin were all carcinoma cells, and were morphologically consistent with the original tumors. Immunohistochemically, ER and PR were both negative (23/25 in uterine, 8/10 in ovarian tumors). p16 was strongly positive (11/11 in uterine tumors, and 6/6 in ovarian tumors), with similar expression patterns in the carcinoma and sarcoma components. p53 showed mutant-type staining (64%, 21/33) and expressed synchronously in carcinoma and sarcoma components. p53 mutation was found in 35% cases of endometrial carcinoma and 46.7% cases of non-endometrial carcinoma. p53 mutation was also found in only 31.8% cases of heterogenic sarcomas, but in 50% of non-heterogenic sarcomas. Twenty-eight cases (28/33, 85%) presented intact mismatch repair proteins, while 5 cases (5/33, 15%) presented deficient mismatch repair proteins. Conclusions: MMMT in female reproductive system is a rare high-grade biphasic tumor with complex and diverse morphology. The immunohistochemical features are characterized by negative ER/PR and strongly positive p16, mostly mutant p53 and proficient mismatch repair proteins. The patients with a high FIGO stage have worse prognosis.

Abstract
Halogen bonding is emerging as a significant driving force for supramolecular self-assembly and has aroused great interest during the last two decades. Among the various halogen-bonding donors, we take notice of the ability of 1,4-diiodotetrafluorobenzene (1,4-DITFB) to co-crystallize with diverse halogen-bonding acceptors in the range from neutral Lewis bases (nitrogen-containing compounds, N-oxides, chalcogenides, aromatic hydrocarbons and organometallic complexes) to anions (halide ions, thio/selenocyanate ions and tetrahedral oxyanions), leading to a great variety of supramolecular architectures such as discrete assemblies, 1D infinite chains and 2D/3D networks. Some of them act as promising functional materials (e.g. fluorescence, phosphorescence, optical waveguide, laser, non-linear optics, dielectric and magnetism) and soft materials (e.g. liquid crystal and supramolecular gel). Here we focus on the supramolecular structures of multicomponent complexes and their related physicochemical properties, highlight representative examples and show clearly the main directions that remain to be developed and improved in this area. From the point of view of crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry, the complexes summarized here should give helpful information for further design and investigation of the elusive category of halogen-bonding supramolecular functional materials.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the clinical and histopathological characteristics of cervical adenoid basal cell carcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma for improving the diagnosis accuracy and differential diagnosis of these tumors. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 9 cases of cervical adenoid basal cell carcinoma and 3 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma which were diagnosed and consulted at the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from March 2009 to April 2019. Detailed clinical data were reviewed. All pathological sections and immunohistochemical results were reviewed and the clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. Follow-up information by telephone was collected and relevant literature was consulted. Results: Both tumors were more commonly found in postmenopausal women (the age of onset ranged 43-74 years). Adenoid basal cell carcinoma was often clinical asymptomatic. Most of them presented as abnormal smears of the cervix during physical examination, and there was no definite mass in colposcopy.Adenoid cystic carcinoma was mostly presented with abnormal vaginal bleeding. A mass was seen in colposcopy.Histologically, the two tumors were characterized by nest-like growth of the tumors, consisting of basal-like tumor cells, and often surrounded by palisade structures. The two lesions might coexist, or be mixed with squamous cell carcinoma or high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. The difference was that adenoid basal cell carcinoma was mostly located at the junction of cervical squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium and beneath the overlying epithelium, the tumor cells were arranged in nests, with squamous differentiation in the center of the nests, or in double-layer adenoid arrangement. The cell morphology was bland with occasional mitoses, and the stromal reaction was not obvious. And adenoid cystic carcinoma cells in the nest arranged like a sieve, the homogenous red-stained and blue-stained secretions were observed in the sieve holes, with obvious cell atypia, frequent mitoses, and obvious stromal reaction.In one case of adenoid cystic carcinoma, sarcomatoid area presented around the nests.Both of them were positive in clinical HPV test. Among the 9 cases of adenoid basal cell carcinoma, 3 were tested for HPV and 5 were tested for p16, and all showed positive expression. Among the 3 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma, 2 were tested for HPV and 3 were tested for p16, both of which showed positive expression. Telephone follow-up was conducted by June 2019(follow-up time ranged 2-37 months). No recurrence or metastasis occurred in 7 of the 9 cases of adenoid basal cell carcinoma, while 1 case had a ground-glass nodule in lung and another had recurrence of vaginal stump 32 months after the surgery.One case of adenoid cystic carcinoma developed lung metastasis 8 months after surgery and died 2 years after surgery; another case was followed up for 6 months, which showed no recurrence or metastasis; the third case was lost to follow-up. Conclusions: Both adenoid cystic carcinoma and adenoid basal cell carcinoma of the cervix are the tumors originating from cervical reserve cells and are associated with high-risk HPV infection. Due to the differences in clinical treatment and prognosis, careful histological evaluation and immunohistochemical analysis should be carried out to make accurate pathological diagnosis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical, pathological and immunohistochemical features of seromucinous neoplasms, including seromucinous cystadenoma, borderline tumour and seromucinous carcinomas of the ovary. Methods: A retrospective review of the seromucinous neoplasms collected between June 2006 and December 2018 was conducted at the First Medical Center of PLA General Hospital. EnVision immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of CK7, PAX8, ER, PR, WT1, p16, p53 and Baf250a which was encoded by the ARID1A gene. Results: A total of 75 ovarian seromucinous neoplasms were included. There were 30 cases of benign seromucinous cystadenoma, whose patients aged 12 to 83 years (mean, 36 years). The tumor histologically composed of endocervical-type mucinous epithelium and serous-type cells, each of which accounted for more than 10%. Among the 34 cases of seromucinous borderline tumour including 7 cases with concurrent endometriosis, the patients aged 21 to 72 years (mean, 39 years). Characteristic histologic features were broad papilla structure and an admixture of cell types, predominant endocervical-like mucinous cells (non-intestinal, no goblet cells), eosinophilic cells and others such as clear cells, hobnail cells, ciliated cells, and endometrioid cells. The larger papillae tended to have oedematous stroma containing neutrophils. In the 11 cases of seromucinous carcinomas including 2 cases with concurrent endometriosis, patients aged 26 to 61 years (mean, 40 years). Seromucinous carcinomas exhibited a predominant papillary architecture with smaller components of confluent glandular, microglandular and solid structure, expansive stromal invasion pattern, and sometimes locally destructive infiltration. An admixture of epithelial cell types was in seromucinous carcinomas, as well as borderline tumour. Immunohistochemically, the tumours were positive for CK7, PAX8, p16, estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor (positive in 10% to 80% of the cases). They were negative for WT1, while p53 staining showed a "wild-type" pattern. The Ki-67 positive rate was 20% to 60%. Loss of ARID1A-encoded protein Baf250a staining was observed in 6 (30%) of the 20 seromucinous borderline tumors, and 2 of the 11 seromucinous carcinomas. According to FIGO 2014 staging system, there were 4 cases of ⅠA, 3 cases of ⅡA and 4 cases of ⅢC. Follow-up information was available in 9 patients of seromucinous carcinomas, and 2 lost to follow-up. Eight were alive (follow-up for 6 to 108 months), including 2 patients with relapse, but 1 patient who initially presented with a stage ⅢC tumor died of disease 60 months after the cancer diagnosis. Thirty-four patients of borderline tumour were all alive at the end of follow-up, including 1 with relapse. Conclusions: Seromucinous neoplasms have characteristic histopathological and immunopathological features. Both borderline tumors and carcinomas have complex structures and cellular components. ARID1A as a tumor-suppressor gene plays a role in the oncogenesis of ovarian seromucinous neoplasms. The loss of staining with ARID1A-encoded Baf250a and wild-type p53 in seromucinous neoplasms together support that seromucinous neoplasms could be type Ⅰ tumor of dualistic model of epithelial ovarian cancer, with favourable prognosis.

Abstract
Objective: To preliminarily investigate the influence of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on the immune function of younger children with severe burn injuries. Methods: A total of 30 younger children with severe burn injuries, conforming to the study criteria, were admitted to our hospital from July 2016 to July 2018. They were enrolled in the prospective, randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial and divided into group rhGH [n=15, 10 boys and 5 girls, aged (22±10) months] and control group [n=15, 8 boys and 7 girls, aged (21±7) months] according to the random number table. The patients in control group received anti-shock, anti-infection, and wound caring therapies, etc. On the basis of above-mentioned treatment, the patients in group rhGH were subcutaneously injected with rhGH once every night before bedding, with a dosage of 0.2 IU·kg(-1)·d(-1), from the 3rd day post injury for 7 consecutive days. Before and on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatments, the fasting peripheral venous blood was collected from patients in both groups. Blood glucose level was detected by glucometer. Percentages of CD4(+) T lymphocytes, CD8(+) T lymphocytes, CD3(+) T lymphocytes, CD19(+) B lymphocytes, and ratio of CD4(+) T lymphocytes to CD8(+) T lymphocytes were determined by flow cytometer. Mass concentration of serum immune globulin (Ig) A, IgG, and complement C3 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Data were processed with Fisher's exact probability test, independent sample t test, analysis of variance for repeated measurement and Bonferroni correction, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: (1) The blood glucose levels of children in the two groups were similar before and on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment (t=0.474, 1.652, 1.997, P>0.05). The glucose levels of children in group rhGH on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment [(6.9±1.0) and (7.7±1.1) mmol/L] were significantly higher than (5.9±0.9) mmol/L before rhGH treatment (P<0.05). The glucose level of children in control group on the 7th day of rhGH treatment was significantly higher than that before rhGH treatment (P<0.05). (2) The percentages of CD4(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH before rhGH treatment and on the 7th day of rhGH treatment were (35.1±2.0)% and (38.5±2.2)%, which were close to (36.2±2.0)% and (33.6±2.2)% in control group, respectively (t=0.371, 1.553, P>0.05). The percentages of CD4(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 7th day of rhGH treatment[(44.7±2.2)%] was significantly higher than (36.5±2.2)% in control group (t=2.624, P<0.05). The percentage of CD4(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 7th day of rhGH treatment was significantly higher than that before rhGH treatment (P<0.05). The percentages of CD4(+) T lymphocytes of children in control group on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment were both close to the percentage before rhGH treatment (P>0.05). (3) The percentage of CD8(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 3rd day of rhGH treatment was significantly lower than that in control group (t=2.107, P<0.05). (4) The ratio of CD4(+) T lymphocytes to CD8(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 7th day of rhGH treatment (2.36±0.20) was significantly higher than 1.72±0.20 in control group (t=2.285, P<0.05). The ratio of CD4(+) T lymphocytes to CD8(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 7th day of rhGH treatment was significantly higher than 2.04±0.19 before rhGH treatment (P<0.05). (5) The percentages of CD3(+) T lymphocytes and CD19(+) B lymphocytes of children in the two groups were similar before and on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment (t=1.913, 0.552, 1.327, 1.465, 1.587, 0.407, P>0.05). The percentages of CD3(+) T lymphocytes of children in group rhGH on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment were significantly higher than the percentage before rhGH treatment (P<0.05). (6) The mass concentration of serum IgA, complement C3, and IgG of children in the two groups was similar before and on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment (t=-1.596, -0.100, 1.263, -0.220, 1.378, 1.631, Z=0.228, 0.519, 1.182, P>0.05). The mass concentration of serum IgA and complement C3 of children in group rhGH on the 3rd and 7th day of rhGH treatment was significantly higher than that before rhGH treatment(P<0.05). Conclusions: rhGH has little effect on humoral immunity of younger children with severe burn injuries with limited influence on CD19(+) B lymphocyte, mass concentration of serum IgA, IgG, and complement C3. It may improve the cellular immunity function mainly through promoting the release of CD4(+) T lymphocyte, reducing the release of CD8(+) T lymphocyte. It can be used in clinical treatment of younger children with severe burn injuries.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor beta3 subunit (GABRB3) on cleft palate in C57BL/6J mice induced by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo- p-dioxin (TCDD). Methods: Sixty C57BL/6J pregnant mice on gestation day (GD) 10.5 were divided into two groups: one group was administered through gastric tubes one dose of 28 μg/kg TCDD (experimental group) and the other group was administered through gastric tubes one dose of 5.6 ml/kg corn oil (control group). Embryos were removed by cesarean section from pregnant mice during the palatal formation stage (GD 13.5-17.5) and the palatal tissue studied in morphological and histological observation. The relative mRNA and protein expression of GABRB3 was measured by real-time quantitative PCR and Western blotting. Localization of GABRB3 protein was measured by immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence. Results: The incidence of cleft palate at GD17.5 was 100% in experimental group and there was no cleft palate occurred in the control group (0); elevation of palatine processes in experimental group was completed on GD15.5 which was clearly delayed by a day compared with that in control group. On GD14.5-GD17.5, the mRNA expression (0.561±0.073, 0.728±0.104, 0.782±0.137, 0.686±0.145) and protein expression (0.288±0.013, 0.404±0.017, 0.399±0.012, 0.307±0.010) in the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group mRNA expression (0.818±0.088, 0.865±0.086, 1.021±0.054, 1.163±0.179) and protein expression (0.481±0.017, 0.456±0.009, 0.474±0.016, 0.529±0.015)(P<0.05). Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence showed that GABRB3 was mainly expressed in the mesenchymal cells and medial edge epithelium. Conclusions: TCDD delayed palatal shelf elevation and eventually led to cleft palate may be associated with a decrease in GABRB3. GABRB3 may play an important role in the elevation and fusion phases of the palate development.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical and histopathological features of cervical basal squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC). Methods: A retrospective analysis of 10 cases of cervical BSCC was carried out. The clinical data and all the pathological sections were reviewed, the related immunohistochemical results were statistically analyzed, the clinicopathological features were analyzed, and then followed the prognosis. Results: (1) Clinical features: the median onset age of BSCC in cervix was 51 years old (ranged 35-69 years old), 5 of them were postmenopausal women. Vaginal bleeding was often seen in clinic (7 cases). Of the 10 cervical BSCC patients, 5 tested HPV types. All of them were HPV positive, including 2 cases of HPV 16 positive and 1 case of high-risk HPV positive. At the time of colposcopy, 3 cases showed exogenous nodular mass, 3 cases showed endogenous infiltrating mass, and 4 cases had unclear type of mass.(2)Treatment: of the 10 patients, 8 underwent hysterectomy+bilateral adnexal excision+pelvic lymphadenectomy, of which 6 underwent radiotherapy or chemotherapy after operation.Radiotherapy and chemotherapy were performed only in 2 cases. (3) Pathological features: histologically, the tumor cells were nests and stripe like growth, which were composed of basal like tumor cells. The cells had obvious heteromorphosis, less cytoplasm, deep dyed nuclei and common nuclear mitosis, and there were often palisade like structures around the cell nests, and some cells in the center of the cell nests were found to have acne like necrosis. It could be mixed with normal squamous cell carcinoma and squamous epithelial lesion. Among the 10 patients, 6 had immunohistochemical results. BSCC mainly expressed p16 and squamous cell markers such as p63, cytokeratin (CK) 5/6 and p40 protein, the positive expression rates were 3/3, 3/3, 2/2 and 3/3, respectively. A few expressed CK7 protein, and the positive expression rate was 1/3. (4) Prognosis: follow-up time ranged from 1 week to 64 months, and 2 cases were lost to follow-up. Among the 8 follow-up patients, 3 had iliac bone, lung or skin metastasis, and 5 had no recurrence or metastasis during the follow-up period. Conclusions: BSCC of cervix is a rare malignant tumor of cervix associated with high-risk HPV infection, p16 is more positive. The treatment is similar to that of normal cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Surgical resection and radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the most effective methods according to the clinical stage. At present, the disease is considered to be highly aggressive and the poor prognosis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate clinical, pathological and immunohistochemical features of pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma. Methods: A retrospective review of surgical and pathological databases between 2011 and 2016 at PLA General Hospital was collected and 14 cases of acinar cell carcinoma (ACC) of the pancreas were identified. EnVision immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Trypsin, bcl-10 and cytokeratin(CK) proteins. Results: The patients included nine cases of pure ACC, 3 cases of mixed acinar ductal carcinoma, 1 case of mixed acinar-neuroendocrine carcinoma and acinar-ductal-neuroendocrine carcinoma, respectively. Tumors involved different anatomic locations of the pancreas, including eight involving the head of pancreas, four in the body and tail, one in the uncinate process and one in a heterotopic pancreas. Two patients had lymph node and liver metastases before surgery. Microscopically, the tumor was hypercellular with less fibroblastic proliferation and tumor cells arranged in acinar or solid pattern. The well differentiated tumor cells showed eosinophilic, granular cytoplasm with single prominent nucleoli, while the poorly differentiated tumor cells tended to grow in solid sheets. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for pan-cytokeratin (14/14), Trypsin (12/14) and bcl-10 (11/14). Stains for CK7 and CK19 were negative (11/14 and 3/4). According to the pTNM staging, there were 7 cases at stageⅠ, 3 at stage ⅡA, 3 at stage Ⅲ and 1 at stage Ⅳ. With average postoperative follow-up of 6-58 months, the median disease-free survival time was 16 months. Conclusions: Pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma is a rare and relatively indolent malignant tumor with characteristic histopathological and immunohistochemical features. Accurate pathological diagnosis plays an important role in patients' treatment and evaluation of prognosis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Primary filum terminale ependymoma (PFTE) is a unique type of ependymomas and locates on extramedullary site. However, the clinical features and prognostic factors of PFTE are still unknown due to its rarity. AIM This study aimed to evaluate the clinical features, outcomes, and prognostic factors of PFTE in the largest series of cases. RESULT Thirty-eight patients were included in this study. Gross total removal (GTR) of the tumors was achieved in 33(87%) patients. Five (13%) patients had subtotal resection (STR). For the residual tumors, postoperative radiotherapy increased the interval between the first surgery and tumor regrowth (P = 0.063). Six patients had local recurrence/progression. Univariate analysis identified STR(P = 0.001), unencapsulated tumor (P = 0.018), tumor involving more than two vertebral columns (P = 0.005), and tumor invading sacral canal(P < 0.001) as predictors of tumor recurrence. In addition, 36 (95%) patients had stable or improved neurological status directly after surgery. Klekamp-Samii score was better correlated with the symptoms than McCormick scale. CONCLUSION Extent of surgical removal, tumor size, tumor location, and the integrity of tumor capsule are the prognostic factors of PFTEs, and the intrasacral PFTEs always have a poor prognosis.

Abstract
Ectopic pituitary adenoma with an empty sella is extremely rare. We report an unusual patient with an ectopic growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma in the sphenoid sinus with an empty sella. The association is related to a development disorder of the anterior pituitary tissues. Tumor in the sphenoid sinus was completely removed by endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach. During the follow-up, the patient met the criteria for endocrinological cure.

Abstract
Chemotherapy is widely used for the treatment of glioma. Given the high resistance of brain neoplasm tissues to chemotherapy, it is important to find new methods to improve the effects of chemotherapy. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying glioma resistance to chemotherapy are largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that CDK6, a cell cycle regulator, is significantly upregulated in glioma cells, and the increasing expression of CDK6 correlates well with the grades of glioma malignancy. Using shRNA-mediated CDK6 knockdown, we found that the proliferation and survival of tumor cells were dramatically inhibited. Moreover, CDK6 knockdown in the U251 glioma cell line caused significant increase in the apoptosis of U251 cells treated with temozolomide (TMZ). Furthermore, CDK6 knockdown reduced the expression level of drug resistance genes such as MRP and MDR. These data indicate that CDK6 is an important mediator of glioma resistance to chemotherapy. Our findings provide a new strategy for the development of chemotherapy sensitizer.

Abstract
A 26-year-old female presented with severe lumbodorsal pain and hypesthesia in the right lower extremity. MRI of the spine revealed multiple lesions from L1 to S5; the largest was located at the conus medullaris. Diagnostic exploration revealed caseous, ivory-colored granulation tissue adhered to the conus medullaris and cauda eguina. Results of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and histopathological staining were consistent with sparganum infection. Our case report is unique because presentation was with lumbar radiculopathy instead of functional disorders of urination and defecation, atypical presentation for a conus medullaris lesion. Parasitic infection of the spinal cord with sparganosis should be considered when presentation is with signs and symptoms of spinal cord dysfunction of insidious onset.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To determine the prevalence of human papillomavirus types and investigate the risk factors for cervical cancer in Hubei, China. METHODS We conducted a case-control study to investigate risk factors. RESULTS HPV DNA was detected in 94.55% of patients with cervical carcinoma, and 23.64% of control subjects. The most common HPV type in cervical cancer was HPV type 16 (81.82%), followed by HPV 58 (6.36%). HPV infected patients have a higher risk of developing cervical carcinoma, which is 75.79 times more than non-infected people. The other risks were age at first intercourse (p = 0.017) and number of live births (p = 0.032). A history of previous cytologic screening was associated with a substantial reduction in risk (p = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The three principal reasons that Hubei has a high rate of women developing cervical carcinoma are HPV infection, age at first sexual intercourse and number of live births. Cervical cytology screening provides efficacious protection.

Abstract
We report on the solar diurnal variation of the galactic cosmic-ray intensity observed by the Tibet III air shower array during the period from 1999 to 2003. In the higher-energy event samples (12 and 6.2 TeV), the variations are fairly consistent with the Compton-Getting anisotropy due to the terrestrial orbital motion around the Sun, while the variation in the lower-energy event sample (4.0 TeV) is inconsistent with this anisotropy. This suggests an additional anisotropy superposed at the multi-TeV energies, e.g., the solar modulation effect. This is the highest-precision measurement of the Compton-Getting anisotropy ever made.

Abstract
The fragile X mutation is diagnosed from the structure of the FMR1 gene in blood cell DNA. An estimated 12 to 41% of affected males are mosaics who carry both a "full mutation" allele from which there is no gene expression and a "premutation" allele which has normal gene expression. We compared the DNA in blood cells and skin fibroblasts from four mosaic fragile X males to see if there was a difference in the relative amounts of premutation and full mutation alleles within the tissues of these individuals. Two of these males showed striking differences in the ratio of premutation to full mutation in different tissues while the other two showed only slight differences. These observations conform with the widely accepted hypothesis that the fragile X CGG repeat is unstable in somatic tissue during early embryogenesis. Accordingly, the mosaicism in brain and skin, which are both ectodermal in origin, may be similar to each other but different from blood which is not ectodermal in origin. Thus, the ratio of full mutation to premutation allele in skin fibroblasts might be a better indicator of psychological impairment than the ratio in blood cells.

Abstract
Fragile X syndrome is one of the most common forms of inherited mental retardation, and the first of a new class of genetic disorders associated with expanded trinucleotide repeats. Previously, we found that about 41% of affected males are mosaic for this mutation in that some of their blood cells have an active fragile X gene and others do not. It has been hypothesized that these mosaic cases should show higher levels of functioning than those who have only the inactive full mutation gene, but previous studies have provided negative or equivocal results. In the present study, the cross-sectional development of communication, self-care, socialization, and motor skills was studied in 46 males with fragile X syndrome under age 20 years as a function of two variables: age and the presence or absence of mosaicism. The rate of adaptive skills development was 2-4 times as great in mosaic cases as in full mutation cases. There was also a trend for cases with autism to be more prevalent in the full-mutation group. These results have implications for prognosis, for the utility of gene or protein replacement therapies for this disorder, and for understanding the association between mental retardation, developmental disorders, and fragile X syndrome.

An estimated 12 to 41% of affected males are mosaics who carry both a "full mutation" allele from which there is no gene expression and a "premutation" allele which has normal gene expression. We compared the DNA in blood cells and skin fibroblasts from four mosaic fragile X males to see if there was a difference in the relative amounts of premutation and full mutation alleles within the tissues of these individuals. Two of these males showed striking differences in the ratio of premutation to full mutation in different tissues while the other two showed only slight differences. These observations conform with the widely accepted hypothesis that the fragile X CGG repeat is unstable in somatic tissue during early embryogenesis. Accordingly, the mosaicism in brain and skin, which are both ectodermal in origin, may be similar to each other but different from blood which is not ectodermal in origin. Thus, the ratio of full mutation to premutation allele in skin fibroblasts might be a better indicator of psychological impairment than the ratio in blood cells.

Abstract
Fragile X syndrome is one of the most common forms of inherited mental retardation, and the first of a new class of genetic disorders associated with expanded trinucleotide repeats. Previously, we found that about 41% of affected males are mosaic for this mutation in that some of their blood cells have an active fragile X gene and others do not. It has been hypothesized that these mosaic cases should show higher levels of functioning than those who have only the inactive full mutation gene, but previous studies have provided negative or equivocal results. In the present study, the cross-sectional development of communication, self-care, socialization, and motor skills was studied in 46 males with fragile X syndrome under age 20 years as a function of two variables: age and the presence or absence of mosaicism. The rate of adaptive skills development was 2-4 times as great in mosaic cases as in full mutation cases. There was also a trend for cases with autism to be more prevalent in the full-mutation group. These results have implications for prognosis, for the utility of gene or protein replacement therapies for this disorder, and for understanding the association between mental retardation, developmental disorders, and fragile X syndrome.

Abstract
We report on 2 brothers with both fragile X and VACTERL-H syndrome. The first sibling, age 5, had bilateral cleft lip and palate, ventricular septal defect, and a hypoplastic thumb. The second sibling, age 2 1/2, had a trachesophageal fistula, esophageal atresia, and vertebral abnormality. High-resolution chromosome analysis showed a 46, XY chromosome constitution in both siblings. By PCR and Southern blot analysis, the siblings were found to have large triplet repeat expansions in the fragile X gene (FMR 1) and both had methylation mosaicism. Enzyme kinetic studies of iduronate sulfatase demonstrated a two-fold increase in activity in the first sib as compared to the second. Possible mechanisms through which the fragile X mutation can cause down-regulation of adjacent loci are discussed.

Abstract
The relationships among parental origin of the fragile X gene, gene structure, and specific cognitive deficits were evaluated in nonretarded adult female fragile X carriers to determine whether: (1) origin influences gene structure and cognitive function, (2) mild cognitive impairments are associated with altered gene structure, and (3) specific cognitive domains are affected. Results indicated that 56% of women with maternally inherited, but none with paternally inherited, fragile X showed large genomic structural alterations and selective deficits on measures of visual attention. Thus, molecular status of the fragile X gene appears to be linked to parental origin and may selectively affect specific cognitive skills.

Abstract
Molecular analysis of the fragile X (FMR-1) gene identifies female fragile X carriers, but appropriate genetic counseling can only be provided if the limitations of the testing methods are understood. Molecular analysis of this gene is achieved with both the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Southern blot techniques. PCR is faster and can determine the actual number of CGG repeats, which modifies genetic counseling substantially. However, for a sizeable percentage of women, PCR alone is not conclusive, and Southern analysis is necessary to complete the study. While this procedure takes longer, it is usually conclusive. Women who present for genetic counseling and carrier testing in the second trimester of pregnancy need this information quickly, and for them the turn-around time is paramount. It is critical that genetic counselors understand these methods so that they can educate their clients and facilitate appropriate follow-up.

Abstract
Seventeen tracheotomy patients were given gentamicin (Gen) into trachea at the dosage of 2 and 4 mg.kg-1. Gen concentration in serum was determined by fluorescence polarization immunoassay. Pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by micro-computer pharmacokinetic program (MCPKP). T1/2Ka, Tp, and Cmax were 0.6 +/- 0.3 h, 1.7 +/- 0.7 h, and 4.6 +/- 1.8 micrograms.ml-1, respectively in 4 mg.kg-1 group and 0.3 +/- 0.3 h, 0.9 +/- 0.5 h, and 0.4 +/- 0.2 microgram.ml-1, respectively in 2 mg.kg-1 group (P < 0.05). T1/2Kel was 30 +/- 11 h in patients of serum creatine (Cr) > 2 mg% and 6 +/- 5 h in patients of Cr < 2 mg% (P < 0.01). No significant difference could be found between Cmax of different renal function patients (P > 0.05).

Abstract
The effect of mode of inheritance on expression of fragile X syndrome [fra(X)] was investigated in nonretarded female carriers. Examination included cognitive and molecular measures. A priori predictions about cognitive impairment and size of an unstable region of DNA containing a CGG repeat on the X chromosome were tested in age and education matched heterozygotes grouped according to parental inheritance. Nine carriers with a maternal fra(X) chromosome, 11 carriers with a paternal fra(X) chromosome and 15 control mothers of children with non X-linked developmental disabilities were tested. Inheritance was established through DNA linkage analysis. Cognitive skills were assessed using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised and the Benton Visual Retention Test. Molecular status was assessed by Southern blot analysis of genomic DNA digested with Eco RI and Eag I, and probed with StB 12.3. Results supported the inheritance models' predictions. Heterozygotes who inherited the fra(X) from their fathers appeared to be a homogeneous group. They were indistinguishable from controls on cognitive measures and all had genomic insertions of less than 500 base pairs. In contrast, heterozygotes who inherited the fra(X) chromosome from their mothers appeared to be made up of 2 sub-populations. They were as a group deficient in measures of attention and visual memory, but not other measures, with scores of some women consistently below the other subjects. Abstract
To determine the cis- and trans-regulatory elements which control the expression of the apolipoprotein (apo) A-I gene, several DNA-protein binding assays, namely, gel mobility shift, exonuclease III protection, and exonuclease III footprinting assays, were employed to identify these elements. It is demonstrated that nuclear proteins of Hep G2 cells bind to five regions of DNA sequences between 252 and 149 base pairs upstream from the transcription initiation site of the rat apo A-I gene. Using South-Western blot analysis, it is determined that DNA-binding protein has a molecular mass of approximately 90 kDa. It is also shown that the DNA-binding protein was present in Hep G2 cells and rat livers but absent in rabbit livers. The results suggest that the lack of expression of the apo A-I gene in rabbit livers is due to the absence of this DNA-binding protein.

Abstract
In order to study the expression of the apolipoprotein (apo) A-I gene, we have isolated and characterized the structural gene encoding rat apo A-I. The 5' flanking sequence of the apo A-I gene was placed upstream of the coding sequence of the bacterial chloramphenicol acetyl transferase (CAT) gene, such that the expression of CAT activity in cultured cells is under the control of the promoter and regulatory sequences of the rat apo A-I gene. By transient transfection, nucleotide deletion and substitution methods, it was demonstrated that the nucleotide sequences between -464 and -148 upstream from the start of transcription of the rat apo A-I gene are required for the expression of this gene in Hep G2 cells and that these sequences function with an enhancer-like activity.

Abstract
Using a system to study promoter activity, we have obtained a promoter fragment from E. coli chromosomal DNA. The HBsAg gene under the control of this promoter could be expressed in E. coli. The expression products are isolated and purified by means of a column of anti-HBs cross-linked to Sepharose 4 B. The pure products are characterized through the double diffusion method on 0.6% agarose and polyacrylamide-SDS gel electrophoresis. The synthesis of high levels of HBsAg sequences in E. coli is confirmed.

Abstract
The synthetic leu-enkephalin (LEK) gene was joined with pBR322 and transformed to E. coli. The recombinant plasmids containing the LEK gene were selected by colony hybridization, and characterized by restriction mapping and Southern's technique. The lac operon was used to control the expression of the LEK gene. A recombinant plasmid, pEL 103, in which the lac operon and LEK gene are transcribed in the same direction, produces LEK in E. coli. The level of LEK detected by radioimmunoassay reaches 426 ng per mg of bacterial protein.
