Abstract
INTRODUCTION Growth hormone (GH) secreting pituitary adenoma is considered one of the most harmful types of Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumors (PitNETs). Our previous research has found that high expression of Lysine Methyltransferase 5A (KMT5A) is closely related to the proliferation of PitNETs. The aim of this study was to investigate the role and molecular mechanism of KMT5A in the progression of GH PitNETs. METHODS Immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR and Western blot (WB) were used to assess the expression levels of KMT5A in human normal pituitary and GH PitNETs, as well as in rat normal pituitary and GH3 cells. Additionally, we utilized RNA interference technology and treatment with a selective KMT5A inhibitor to decrease the expression of KMT5A in GH3 cells. CCK-8, EdU, Flow cytometry (FCM), clone formation, and WB assay were further employed to evaluate the impact of KMT5A on the proliferation of GH3 cells in vitro. A xenograft model was established to evaluate the role of KMT5A in GH PitNETs progression in vivo. RESULTS KMT5A was highly expressed in GH PitNETs and GH3 cells. Moreover, the reduction of KMT5A expression led to inhibited growth of GH PitNETs and increased apoptosis of tumor cells, as indicated by the findings from CCK-8, EdU, clone formation and FCM assays. Additionally, WB analysis identified the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway as a potential mechanism through which KMT5A promotes GH PitNETs progression. CONCLUSION Our research suggests that KMT5A may facilitate the progression of GH PitNETs via the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Therefore, KMT5A may serve as a potential therapeutic target and molecular biomarker for GH PitNETs.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical effectiveness and safety profile of omalizumab as a therapeutic intervention for chronic urticaria (CU). METHODS From March 1, 2023, to September 30, 2023, data on a cohort comprising 96 patients with CU, who underwent treatment with omalizumab at our medical institution's allergy clinic, were systematically compiled. Subsequent to the administration of omalizumab, the therapeutic efficacy was assessed utilizing the 7-day urticaria activity score and the urticaria control test. RESULTS Based on the statistical analysis, the mean duration of therapeutic intervention was 2.4 ± 1.3 months, with a corresponding mean cumulative dosage of 765 ± 450 mg. Of the subset of 42 patients with CU who were subjected to a follow-up period exceeding 3 months, it was observed that the treatment led to complete symptom remission, and no instances of recurrence were documented. Notably, there were statistically significant differences in the treatment duration and the cumulative dosage between patients who experienced co-morbid conditions and those who did not (p < 0.01, 95% CI: 0.280-1.326; p < 0.01, 95% CI: 0.597-2.997). Furthermore, there were significant differences in the treatment duration and cumulative dosage between patients in the combined allergic rhinitis group and those in the non-combined allergic rhinitis group (p < 0.01, 95% CI: 0.204-1.305; p = 0.01, 95% CI: 0.326-2.860). CONCLUSION Omalizumab demonstrates efficacy in the management of CU among Chinese patients by exerting effective symptom control and facilitating the regression of skin lesions. The assessment of its therapeutic efficacy typically requires a 12-week treatment period. Moreover, the co-occurrence of CU with other allergic disorders serves as a pertinent consideration for the adjustment of omalizumab dosing regimens.

Abstract
AIM To assess changes in the susceptibility of the caudate nucleus (CN), putamen, and globus pallidus (GP) in patients with neurological and hepatic Wilson's disease (WD) by quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM). MATERIAL AND METHODS The brain MRI images of 33 patients diagnosed with WD and 20 age-matched controls were analysed retrospectively. All participants underwent brain T1-weighted, T2-weighted, and QSM imaging using a 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. QSM maps were evaluated with the STISuite toolbox. The quantitative susceptibility levels of the CN, putamen, and GP were analysed using region of interest analysis on QSM maps. Differences among neurological WD patients, hepatic patients, and controls were determined. RESULTS Susceptibility levels were significantly higher for all examined structures (CN, putamen and GP) in patients with neurological WD compared with controls (all p<0.05) and hepatic WD patients (all p<0.05). No statistically significant differences were found in susceptibility levels between patients with hepatic WD and controls (all p>0.05). CONCLUSION The QSM technique is a valuable tool for detecting changes in brain susceptibility in WD patients, indicating abnormal metal deposition. Notably, the current findings suggest that neurological WD patients exhibit more severe susceptibility changes compared with hepatic WD patients. Therefore, QSM can be utilised as a complementary method to detect brain injury in WD patients.

Abstract
Oxides are one of the most important impurities in the fuel salt of molten salt reactors (MSRs), and excessive oxide impurities pose a risk to the safe operation of MSRs. This study focused on investigating the precipitation behavior between Th4+, U4+, and Be2+ with O2- in the 2LiF-BeF2 (FLiBe) eutectic salt system. The results showed that the solubility of UO2 was 5.52 × 10-3 mol kg-1, and the solubility product (Ksp) of UO2 was 6.14 × 10-7 mol3 kg-3 in FLiBe salt at 650 °C. It was also found that the O2- ion would firstly react with U4+ to form UO2, and then the excessive O2- would react with Be2+ to generate BeO in the FLiBe system. Despite conducting the solubility experiment of ThO2 and titration experiment of FLiBe-ThF4, the system failed to achieve the solubility and the Ksp of ThO2. The main reason for this was that O2- preferentially reacted with Be2+ over Th4+ to form precipitates, in other words, Be2+ exerted a protective effect against Th4+. Above all, this work experimentally demonstrated that in the FLiBe system, O2- preferentially combines with U4+ to form a precipitate, followed by Be2+, while Th4+ is relatively inert.

Abstract
Protein adsorption onto nanomaterials often results in denaturation and loss of bioactivity. Controlling the adsorption process to maintain the protein structure and function has potential for a range of applications. Here we report that self-assembled poly(propylene sulfone) (PPSU) nanoparticles support the controlled formation of multicomponent enzyme and antibody coatings and maintain their bioactivity. Simulations indicate that hydrophobic patches on protein surfaces induce a site-specific dipole relaxation of PPSU assemblies to non-covalently anchor the proteins without disrupting the protein hydrogen bonding or structure. As a proof of concept, a nanotherapy employing multiple mast-cell-targeted antibodies for preventing anaphylaxis is demonstrated in a humanized mouse model. PPSU nanoparticles displaying an optimized ratio of co-adsorbed anti-Siglec-6 and anti-FcεRIα antibodies effectively inhibit mast cell activation and degranulation, preventing anaphylaxis. Protein immobilization on PPSU surfaces provides a simple and rapid platform for the development of targeted protein nanomedicines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Abnormal metabolism of vitamin D was the primary mechanism in many pregnancy diseases. Our study was the first to examine the hypothesis that VDR gene polymorphisms contribute to the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the Chinese population at high altitudes. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and eighteen women with GDM and 104 women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) were included in this study using a case-control design. Four single nucleotide polymorphisms (g.47879112G > A, g.47846052C > T, g.47844974A > G, and g.47845054C > A) of mother and fetus were genotyped. RESULTS Maternal and fetal frequency of the A allele of g.47879112G > A was significantly increased in women with GDM than in those with NGT (p < .05). A correlation between the AA homozygous genotype of g.47879112G > A and GDM was noted. Compared with non-carriers, A allele carriers showed higher fasting plasma insulin and two-hour post-challenge plasma glucose (2h-PPG), and lower levels of vitamin D. Furthermore, both maternal and fetal 4-marker haplotype ACCG were found to be significantly associated with GDM (p < .05). CONCLUSIONS Association and haplotype analysis indicated that the A allele of g.47879112G > A could be a risk factor for GDM development in the Chinese population at high altitudes. Additionally, the VDR gene polymorphism of the fetus and mother may have a synergistic effect. The VDR polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of GDM and may be useful for predicting the development of the disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the performance of recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) assay in detection of Clonorchis sinensis metacercariae in freshwater fish samples, so as to provide insights into standardization and field application of this assay. METHODS Wild freshwater fish samples were collected in the rivers of administrative villages where C. sinensis-infected residents lived in Jiangyan District, Xinghua County and Taixing County of Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province from June to September 2022. Genomic DNA was extracted from six freshwater fish specimens (5 g each) containing 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 C. sinensis metacercariae for fluorescent RAA assay, and the diagnostic sensitivity was evaluated. Fluorescent RAA assay was performed with genomic DNA from C. sinensis, Metorchis orientalis, Haplorchis pumilio and Centrocestus formosanus metacercariae as templates to evaluate its cross-reactions. In addition, the detection of fluorescent RAA assay and direct compression method for C. sinensis metacercariae was compared in field-collected freshwater fish samples. RESULTS Positive amplification was found in fresh-water fish specimens containing different numbers of C. sinensis metacercariae, and fluorescent RAA assay was effective to detect one C. sinensis metacercaria in 5 g freshwater fish specimens within 20 min. Fluorescent RAA assay tested negative for DNA from M. orientalis, H. pumilio and C. formosanus metacercariae. Fluorescent RAA assay and direct compression method showed 5.36% (93/1 735) and 2.88% (50/1 735) detection rates for C. sinensis metacercariae in 1 735 field-collected freshwater fish samples, with a statistically significant difference seen (χ2 = 478.150, P < 0.001). There was a significant difference in the detection of C. sinensis metacercariae in different species of freshwater fish by both the direct compression method (χ2 = 11.20, P < 0.05) and fluorescent RAA assay (χ2 = 20.26, P < 0.001), and the detection of C. sinensis metacercariae was higher in Pseudorasbora parva than in other fish species by both the direct compression method and fluorescent RAA assay (both P values < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Fluorescent RAA assay has a high sensitivity for detection of C. sinensis metacercariae in freshwater fish samples, and has no cross-reactions with M. orientalis, H. pumilio or C. formosanus metacercariae. Fluorescent RAA assay shows a higher accuracy for detection of C. sinensis infections in field-collected freshwater fish than the direct compression method.

Abstract
On the basis of the theory of unsteady heat conduction, discrete equations for the unsteady temperature field in the secondary linings of high-water-temperature tunnels when considering the hydration heat of lining concrete were derived and established. Spatiotemporal variation in the temperature field of tunnel linings was revealed through the analysis of numerical examples. Research demonstrates that the temperature of the secondary lining within a thickness range of approximately 15 cm near the tunnel clearance decreases sharply under the condition that the lining thickness is 35 cm. The higher the temperature on the lining's outer surface, the more drastically the lining temperature decreases. When considering the hydration heat of lining concrete, the lining temperature increases to a certain extent after a sudden drop, reaching stability after approximately 20 h, and the lining temperature is approximately 1-2 °C higher than that without taking concrete hydration heat into account. The temperature difference between the tunnel lining's core and its inner and outer surfaces is positively and negatively correlated with the temperature of the secondary lining's outer surface, respectively. When the temperature of the secondary lining's outer surface is not higher than 65 °C, the temperature difference between the tunnel lining's core and its inner and outer surfaces is less than 20 °C. Conversely, it partially or completely exceeds 20 °C, in which case an insulation method is recommended to utilize to prevent thermal cracks in secondary linings triggered via a high temperature difference.

Abstract
1. Fusarium tritici widely exists in a variety of grain feeds. The T-2 toxin is the main hazardous component produced by Fusarium tritici, making a serious hazard to poultry industry. Morin, belonging to the flavonoid family, can be extracted from mulberry plants and possesses anticancer, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds, but whether morin protects chicks with T-2 toxin poisoning remains unclear. This experiment firstly established a chick model of T-2 toxin poisoning and then investigated the protective effects and mechanism of morin against T-2 toxin in chicks.2. The function of liver and kidney was measured by corresponding alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Cre) and uric acid (UA) kits. Histopathological changes were observed by haematoxylin-eosin staining. The status of oxidative stress was measured by MDA, SOD, CAT, GSH and GSH-PX kits. The mRNA levels of TNF-α, COX-2, IL-1β, IL-6, caspase-1, caspase-3 and caspase-11 were measured by quantitative real-time PCR. Heterophil extracellular trap (HET) release was analysed by immunofluorescence and fluorescence microplate.3. The model with T-2 toxin poisoning in chicks was successfully established. Morin significantly decreased T-2 toxin-induced ALT, AST, ALP, BUN, Cre and UA, and improved T-2 toxin-induced liver cell rupture, liver cord disorder and kidney interstitial oedema. Oxidative stress analysis showed that morin ameliorated T-2 toxin-induced damage by reducing malondialdehyde (MDA), increasing superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX). The qRT-PCR analysis showed that morin reduced T-2 toxin-induced mRNA expressions of TNF-α, COX-2, IL-1β, IL-6, caspase-1, caspase-3 and caspase-11. Moreover, morin significantly reduced the release of T-2 toxin-induced HET in vitro and in vivo.4. Morin can protect chicks from T-2 toxin poisoning by decreasing HETs, oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, which make it a useful compound against T-2 toxin poisoning in poultry feed.

Abstract
Our previous surveillance revealed that t203-like G9 (tentatively designated subtype G9-VI) rotaviruses re-emerged in 2010 in Beijing and rapidly prevailed over the G9-III subtype (the most common G9 subtype globally) and previously predominant G genotypes over the following two years. G9-VI belongs to the VP7 evolutionary lineage VI, which includes unusual and sporadic human rotaviruses from China (t203) and Japan. To obtain insight into the epidemiology, evolution, and transmission advantages of G9-VI rotavirus, we performed follow-up surveillance (2014-2017) and whole-genome analysis of 12 representative G9 strains. The results showed that the G9 genotype was predominant (77.4%), with a marked increase in prevalence (previously 43.5%). Within the G9 genotype, subtype G9-VI accounted for the majority (98.3%) of cases. The most prevalent P-genotype was P[8] (93.7%), within which subtype P[8]b was rare (0.7%). Phylogenetically, the G9-VI subtype strains in this study clustered closely with contemporary emerging human rotaviruses from many other countries in VP7 lineage VI, indicating that this subtype is capable of spreading globally. These currently emerging G9-VI rotaviruses formed a distinct monophyletic subcluster when compared to early G9-VI rotaviruses. Furthermore, four specific amino acid substitutions and synonymous codon substitutions were observed in the VP7 genes between the current G9-VI and globally common G9-III rotaviruses. The remaining nine genes of all of the analyzed representative G9 strains, whether G9-VI or G9-III, combined with the P[8]a, P[8]b, or P[6] genotype and exhibited the same Wa-like backbone constellation.

Abstract
In this paper, a new multi-part composite frangible cover (MCFC) was designed and fabricated. The frangible cover, manufactured with a traditional manual lay-up method, is designed to conduct a simulated missile launch test using a specially developed test device. A weak zone structure of the composite multi-part frangible cover was designed, and the separation process of the cover was studied by numerical simulation. Based on the strength envelope of the weak zone and the equal-strength design principle, a design method for the weak zone structure of the composite multi-part frangible cover was proposed. A finite element model of the composite multi-part frangible cover was established, and the separation process was numerically simulated and analyzed. Afterward, the verification experiments were carried out. Close agreements between the numerical and experimental results are observed.

Abstract
The 2LiF-BeF2 (FLiBe) salt melt is considered the primary choice for a coolant and fuel carrier for the generation IV molten salt reactor (MSR). However, the basics of ionic coordination and short-range ordered structures have been rarely reported due to the toxicity and volatility of beryllium fluorides, as well as the lack of suitable high-temperature in situ probe methods. In this work, the local structure of FLiBe melts was investigated in detail using the newly designed HT-NMR method. It was found that the local structure was comprised of a series of tetrahedral coordinated ionic clusters (e.g., BeF42-, Be2F73-, Be3F104-, and polymeric intermediate-range units). Li+ ions were coordinated by BeF42- ions and the polymeric Be-F network through the analysis of the NMR chemical shifts. Using solid-state NMR, the structure of solid FLiBe solidified mixed salts was confirmed to form a 3D network structure, significantly similar to those of silicates. The above results provide new insights into the local structure of FLiBe salts, which verifies the strong covalent interactions of Be-F coordination and the specific structural transformation to the polymeric ions above 25% BeF2 concentration.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The association of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index with severe consciousness disturbance and in-hospital mortality in patients with cerebrovascular disease in the intensive care unit (ICU) is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the TyG index's predictive ability on the severity of impaired consciousness and in-hospital mortality in patients with cerebrovascular disease in the ICU. METHOD Patients diagnosed with non-traumatic cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction were extracted from the MIMIC-IV database and analyzed as two cohorts. The association between the TyG index and the severity of patients' impairment of consciousness and in-hospital mortality was analyzed using logistic regression models. Using restricted cubic spline curves, we analyzed potential nonlinear relationships between TyG indices and outcome indicators. receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were utilized to evaluate the predictive ability of the TyG index for outcome indicators. RESULT The study's last two cohorts comprised 537 patients with traumatic cerebral hemorrhage and 872 patients with cerebral infarction. TyG index was a significant predictor of the severity of impaired consciousness and in-hospital mortality in patients with cerebrovascular disease, as determined by logistic regression. The risk of severe consciousness impairment and in-hospital mortality increased roughly linearly with increasing TyG index. CONCLUSION The TyG index was found to be a significant predictor for severe impairment of consciousness and in-hospital death in patients with cerebrovascular disease in the ICU, and it provides some predictive value for the severity of consciousness disturbances and in-hospital mortality in cerebrovascular disease patients.

Abstract
Human adenovirus serotype 31 (HAdV-31) is closely associated with gastroenteritis in children and can cause fatal systemic disseminated diseases in immunocompromised patients. The lack of genomic data for HAdV-31, especially in China, will greatly limit research on its prevention and control. Sequencing and bioinformatics analyses were performed for HAdV-31 strains from diarrheal children in Beijing, China, during 2010-2022. Three capsid protein genes (hexon, penton, and fiber) were obtained in 37 cases, including one in which the whole genome was sequenced. HAdV-31 strains clustered into three distinct clades (I-III) in a phylogenetic tree constructed based on concatenated genes and the whole genome; the endemic strains only gathered into clade II, and most of the reference strains clustered into clade I. Compared with penton and hexon, fiber had a faster evolutionary rate (1.32 × 10-4 substitutions/site/year), an earlier divergence time (1697), lower homology (98.32-100% at the amino acid level), and greater genetic variation (0.0032). Four out of the six predicted positive selection pressure codons were also in the knob of fiber. These results reveal the molecular evolution characteristics and variations of HAdV-31 in Beijing, and fiber may be one of the main evolution driving forces.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the trends in the disease burden of schistosomiasis worldwide and in China, and Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2019, so as to provide insights into the formulation of the schistosomiasis control strategy in Zimbabwe. METHODS Based on Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019) data sources, the age-standardized prevalence, mortality, disability-adjusted life year (DALY) rate of schistosomiasis were compared in the world, China, and Zimbabwe and the trends in the disease burden of schistosomiasis from 1990 to 2019 were investigated using Joinpoint regression analysis. In addition, the associations between the burden of schistosomiasis worldwide and in China and Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2019 and socio-demographic index (SDI) were examined using Pearson correlation analysis. RESULTS The age-standardized prevalence, mortality, and DALY rate of schistosomiasis were 1 804.95/105, 0.14/105 and 20.92/105 in the world, 707.09/105, 0.02/105 and 5.06/105 in China, and 2 218.90/105, 2.39/105 and 90.09/105 in Zimbabwe in 2019, respectively. The global prevalence, mortality, and DALY rate of schistosomiasis appeared a tendency towards a rise followed by a decline with age in 2019, while the prevalence and DALY rate of schistosomiasis appeared a tendency towards a sharp rise followed by a fluctuating decline in both China and Zimbabwe, and the mortality of schistosomiasis appeared a tendency towards a rise. The age-standardized prevalence [average annual percent change (AAPC) = -1.31%, -2.22% and -6.12%; t = -20.07, -83.38 and -53.06; all P values < 0.05)] and DALY rate of schistosomiasis (AAPC = -1.91%,-4.17% and -2.08%; t = -31.89, -138.70 and -16.45; all P values < 0.05) appeared a tendency towards a decline in the world, China and Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2019, and the age-standardized mortality of schistosomiasis appeared a tendency towards a decline in the world and China (AAPC = -3.46% and -8.10%, t = -41.03 and -61.74; both P values < 0.05), and towards a rise followed by a decline in Zimbabwe (AAPC = 1.35%, t = 4.88, P < 0.05). In addition, Pearson correlation analysis showed that the age-standardized prevalence (r = -0.75, P < 0.05), mortality (r = -0.73, P < 0.05), and DALY rate of schistosomiasis (r = -0.77, P < 0.05) correlated negatively with SDI in the world, China and Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2019. CONCLUSIONS The disease burden of schistosomiasis appeared a remarkable decline in China from 1990 to 2019, and the prevalence of schistosomiasis showed a tendency towards a decline in Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2019; however, the mortality and DALY rate of schistosomiasis in Zimbabwe topped in the world. A schistosomiasis control strategy with adaptations to local epidemiology and control needs of schistosomiasis is needed to facilitate the elimination of schistosomiasis in Zimbabwe.

Abstract
Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disease, which has become an essential cause of perinatal and neonatal death. Gut microflora becomes the regulator of host immunity through the metabolic pathway. Epidemiological studies provide convincing evidence that vitamin D supplementation can prevent the onset of preeclampsia. However, research on the microbial mechanisms and effective treatment strategies for placental inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide is lacking. In this study, pregnant rats were induced by LPS to establish a rat model of preeclampsia. 16-sequence analysis was used to determine the composition of microflora in feces. In addition, the protective effect of vitamin D supplementation on LPS-preeclampsia rats was evaluated. The results showed that the blood pressure and creatinine of pregnant rats in the LPS group were significantly higher than those in the control group. Additionally, LPS disturbed the intestinal microbial community and reduced microbial diversity. Vitamin D supplementation improves the symptoms of preeclampsia, increases the abundance of intestinal beneficial flora, normalizes the level of inflammatory factors LPS-induced by inhibiting the TLR4/MYD88/NF-KB pathway, and effectively resists the disturbance of uterine spiral artery remodeling induced by LPS. This study established that vitamin D-mediated microbial mechanisms and their inhibition are potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of preeclampsia.

Abstract
Developing ultraviolet (UV) radiation sensors featuring high sensitivity, ease of operation, and rapid readout is highly desired in diverse fields. However, the strategies to enhance sensitivity of UV detection remain limited particularly for photochromic materials, which show colorimetric response toward UV irradiation. Guided by our initial goal of facilitating easier handling, we formulated a viologen derivative ([H2L]-SC) incorporating hydrogel-based UV sensor which not only inherits the photochromism of [H2L]-SC but also engenders an unprecedented reversible photoelectrochromic response that is absent in either [H2L]-SC or hydrogel alone. Judicious synergy between photochromic [H2L]-SC and polyacrylamide (PAM) converts the colorimetric response of [H2L]-SC into the electrical resistance change of [H2L]-SC@PAM, which amplifies the UV sensitivity of [H2L]-SC by 2 orders of magnitude. Explicitly, the limit of detection (LOD) for UV decreases from 296.3 mJ/cm2 based on the UV-vis absorption spectra of [H2L]-SC to 2.83 mJ/cm2 derived from the resistance variation of [H2L]-SC@PAM. Moreover, linear correlation between the resistance reduction rate of [H2L]-SC@PAM and UV dose rate can be established, rendering it as a dual platform for quantifying both the accumulated UV dose and the instant dose rate. In addition, the proposed strategy based on constructing photoelectrochromic hybrids offers a new pathway to boost the UV sensitivity that could be universal for other photochromic materials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the publications and citations of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control from 2011 to 2020, so as to provide insights into improving the journal quality and impact. METHODS All publications were retrieved from 60 issues of 10 volumes of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control from 2011 to 2020, and publication and citation analyses were performed using a bibliometric method. RESULTS A total of 1 867 articles were published in Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control from 2011 to 2020, with the largest number in 2012 (220 publications) and the lowest in 2020 (135 publications), and original article (36.48%), control experience (17.14%) and control study (10.34%) were the three most common article type. The overall proportion of grant-supported articles was 59.08% (1 103/1 867), and the number of grant per article was (2.34±1.58) grants. The mean duration from submission to publication was (173.48±105.84) days per article, and there was a significant difference in the mean duration from submission to publication among years (F = 30.883, P < 0.01). Jiangsu Province (492 publications, 26.35%), Shanghai Municipality (264 publications, 14.14%) and Hubei Province (230 publications, 12.32%) were the three most productive provinces where the first author lived, and disease control and prevention institutions were the predominant affiliations of the first author (67.22%), with Jiangsu Institute of Schistosomiasis Control, National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Wannan Medical College as the three most productive affiliations. The number of authors was 5.94 authors per publication, and the proportion of co-authored publications was 95.45% in Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control from 2011 to 2020. Journal article was the predominant type of cited (89.97%), and the mean number of citations was (15.70±11.56) citations per publication, with a significant difference in the mean number of citations per publication among years (F = 2.205, P < 0.05). The impact factors of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control ranged from 0.877 to 1.676 during the period from 2011 to 2020, and the overall Price index was 47.59%. CONCLUSIONS Both the academic impact and national transmissibility of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control appeared a tendency towards a rise from 2011 to 2020. Seeking high-quality contributions, increasing interdisciplinary integration, shortening the duration from submission to publication, expanding the coverage of publication services and enhancing impact are the future priorities of the journal.

Abstract
Abstract
Proteins readily and often irreversibly adsorb to nanomaterial surfaces, resulting in denaturation and loss of bioactivity1,2. Controlling this process to preserve protein structure and function has remained an elusive goal that would enhance the fabrication and biocompatibility of protein-based bioactive nanomaterials3-7. Here, we demonstrate that poly(propylene sulfone) (PPSU)8 nanoparticles support the controlled formation of multi-component enzyme and antibody coatings while maintaining their bioactivity. Simulations indicate that hydrophobic patches9 on protein surfaces induce site-specific dipole relaxation on PPSU surfaces to noncovalently anchor proteins without disrupting hydrogen bonding or protein structure. As proof-of-concept, a nanotherapy for enhanced antibody-based targeting of mast cells and inhibition of anaphylaxis3,4 is demonstrated in a humanized mouse model. The ratio of co-adsorbed anti-Siglec-610,11 and anti-FcεRIα antibodies is systematically optimized to effectively inhibit mast cell activation and degranulation. Protein immobilization on PPSU surfaces therefore provides a simple and rapid platform for the development of targeted nanomedicines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aims to propose a lateral cervical stria approach for selective neck dissection (SND) in patients of early-stage oral malignancies. MATERIAL AND METHODS The lateral cervical stria approach was used in 11 patients undergoing SND between December 2020 and March 2022. The surgical incision was located in submandibular cervical stria, with a length of 5.0 cm. The ipsilateral SND was performed according to the pathological type, covering part or all of I-V levels. Perioperative variables including operation time, blood loss, drainage volume, number of lymph node as well as complications were assessed. The score of appearance using the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW-QOL) was recorded 6-month postoperatively. RESULTS Direct closure of primary lesion was performed in ten patients and a forearm free flap reconstruction was used in one patient. No wound breakdown or infection was found in all cases. The mean operative time of SND was 157.63±27.39 min. The volume of intraoperative blood loss and postoperative drainage was 120.45±36.77 ml and 314.09±98.82 ml, respectively. The mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was 17.89±6.03 (ranging from 12 to 31). Postoperative complications included mild static lower lip deviation (n=1), shoulder discomfort (n=1) and mild auricular paraesthesia (n=1). The mean score of appearance was 86.36±13.06, with 100 scores in 5 patients and 75 scores in 6 patients. CONCLUSIONS The lateral cervical stria approach for SND in early-stage oral malignancies is reliable, achieving to satisfactory functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Abstract
Purpose Immune escaping from host herd immunity has been related to changes in viral genomic sequences. The study aimed to understand the diverse immune responses to different subtypes or genotypes of human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in pediatric patients. Methods The genomic sequences of different subtypes or RSV genotypes, isolated from Beijing patients, were sequenced and systematically analyzed. Specifically, the antiviral effects of Palivizumab and the cross-reactivity of human sera from RSV-positive patients to different subtypes or genotypes of RSV were determined. Then, the level of 38 cytokines and chemokines in respiratory and serum samples from RSV-positive patients was evaluated. Results The highest nucleotide and amino acid variations and the secondary and tertiary structure diversities among different subtypes or genotypes of RSV were found in G, especially for genotype ON1 with a 72bp-insertion compared to NA1 in subtype A, while more mutations of F protein were found in the NH-2 terminal, including the antigenic site II, the target of Palivizumab, containing one change N276S. Palivizumab inhibited subtype A with higher efficiency than subtype B and had stronger inhibitory effects on the reference strains than on isolated strains. However, RSV-positive sera had stronger inhibitory effects on the strains in the same subtypes or genotypes of RSV. The level of IFN-α2, IL-1α, and IL-1β in respiratory specimens from patients with NA1 was lower than those with ON1, while there were higher TNFα, IFNγ, IL-1α, and IL-1β in the first serum samples from patients with ON1 compared to those with BA9 of subtype B. Conclusions Diverse host immune responses were correlated with differential subtypes and genotypes of RSV in pediatric patients, demonstrating the impact of viral genetics on host immunity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Under the pressure of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) targeting severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, the prevalence of human adenovirus (HAdV) was monitored before and after NPIs launched on Jan 24, 2020 in pediatric patients in Beijing, China. METHODS Respiratory samples collected from children hospitalized with acute respiratory infections from Jan 2015 to Dec 2021 were screened by direct immunofluorescence test or capillary electrophoresis-based multiplex PCR assay. The hexon, penton base, and fiber genes were amplified from HAdV positive specimens, then sequenced. For HAdV typing, phylogenetic trees were built by MEGA X. Then clinical data of HAdV positive cases were collected. All data were evaluated using SPSS Statistics 22.0 software. RESULTS A total of 16,097 children were enrolled and 466 (2.89%, 466/16,097) were HAdV-positive. The positive rates of HAdV varied, ranging from 4.39% (151/3,438) in 2018 to1.25% (26/2,081) in 2021, dropped from 3.19% (428/13,408) to 1.41% (38/2,689) from before to after NPIs launched (P < 0.001). There were 350 cases typed into nine types of species B, C, or E and 34 recorded as undetermined. Among them, HAdV-B3 (51.56%, 198/384) was the most prevalent types from 2015 to 2017, and HAdV-B7 (29.17%, 112/384) co-circulated with HAdV-B3 from 2018 to 2019. After NPIs launched, HAdV-B3 and B7 decreased sharply with HAdV-B7 undetected in 2021, while HAdV-C1 became the dominant one and the undetermined were more. CONCLUSIONS The endemic pattern of HAdV changed in Beijing because of the NPIs launched for COVID-19. Especially, the dominant types changed from HAdV-B to HAdV-C.

Abstract
Geographical traceability is crucial to the quality and safety control of gelatin. However, currently, methods for gelatin traceability have not been established anywhere in the world. This study aimed to investigate the possibility of differentiating the geographical origins of gelatin from different regions in China using stable isotope technology. To achieve this objective, 47 bovine stick bone samples from three different regions (Inner Mongolia, Shandong, and Guangxi, respectively) in China were collected, and gelatin was extracted from these bones using the enzymatic method. The fingerprint characteristics of stable isotopes of δ13C, δ15N, and δ2H of gelatin from different regions in China were studied. Moreover, isotopic changes from the bone to gelatin during the processing were examined to evaluate the effectiveness of these factors as origin indicators. The results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the δ13C, δ15N, and δ2H of gelatin from different regions display significant differences, and using the linear discriminant analysis (LDA), the correct differentiation of origin reached 97.9%. Certain differences in stable isotope ratios were observed during the processing of bone to gelatin samples. Nonetheless, the fractionation effect caused by the processing of bone to gelatin samples was not sufficient to influence the identification of gelatin from different origins, which proves that δ13C, δ15N, and δ2H are effective origin indicators of gelatin. In conclusion, the stable isotope ratio analysis combined with the chemometric analysis can be used as a reliable tool for identifying gelatin traceability.

Abstract
A series of nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) was launched in Beijing, China, on January 24, 2020, to control coronavirus disease 2019. To reveal the roles of NPIs on the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), respiratory specimens collected from children with acute respiratory tract infection between July 2017 and Dec 2021 in Beijing were screened by capillary electrophoresis-based multiplex PCR (CEMP) assay. Specimens positive for RSV were subjected to a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and genotyped by G gene sequencing and phylogenetic analysis using iqtree v1.6.12. The parallel and fixed (paraFix) mutations were analyzed with the R package sitePath. Clinical data were compared using SPSS 22.0 software. Before NPIs launched, each RSV endemic season started from October/November to February/March of the next year in Beijing. After that, the RSV positive rate abruptly dropped from 31.93% in January to 4.39% in February 2020; then, a dormant state with RSV positive rates ≤1% from March to September, a nearly dormant state in October (2.85%) and November (2.98%) and a delayed endemic season in 2020, and abnormal RSV positive rates remaining at approximately 10% in summer until September 2021 were detected. Finally, an endemic RSV season returned in October 2021. There was a game between Subtypes A and B, and RSV-A replaced RSV-B in July 2021 to become the dominant subtype. Six RSV-A and eight RSV-B paraFix mutations were identified on G. The percentage of severe pneumonia patients decreased to 40.51% after NPIs launched. NPIs launched in Beijing seriously interfered with the endemic season of RSV.

Abstract
Deposited substances generated from hydrofluoric acid based (HF-based) etching are found to be the precursors that deteriorate the resistance of fused silica optics to laser damage. In this paper, the surface of polished fused silica was treated with a buffer oxide etchant (BOE, 5-10%wt. HF + 10%wt. N H 4 F+80-85% w t.H 2 O). The optic surface area affected by the etching-induced deposits (N H 4)S i F 6 was found to increase significantly with the amount of material removal and sensitivity to the post-cleaning procedure. Three shapes of deposited particles are simultaneously identified on the treated samples. The 3D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) was used to simulate the light field distribution near the deposited particles, which demonstrates that fused silica is subject to more light modulation when a particle is exposed on the front surface laser than on the rear surface laser. In addition, dense particles barely increase the light intensification factor (LIF) while markedly increase the light focused probability inside fused silica. Moreover, a multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis for the LIF builds a fitting plane model of the LIF and the particle height as well as the horizontal size, revealing that the LIF increases with the size of the deposited particle, especially its height. The laser damage testing results indicate that a deposited layer of ∼76n m in height had little influence on the laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) of the optics and larger deposited particles with up to 9 µm thickness may deteriorate the LIDT to 41.62% that of the reference sample. Both the simulation and experimental results demonstrate that deposited particles with a height of more than 0.1 µm should be inhibited to achieve fused silica with superior laser damage performance.

Abstract
Objective: To explore metabolic biomarkers associated with the onset of type 2 diabetes. Methods: Cluster random sampling method was used to select 10 867 local residents aged ≥ 20 years in Liangxi district of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province in 2007. The baseline survey and physical examination were conducted to collect participants' information, including demographic characteristics, behavior and lifestyles, disease history, family history of diabetes, height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure, etc. Blood samples were collected and biochemical indexes (high density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, etc.) were tested. By June 30, 2020, 220 newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes during the follow-up were selected as cases, and 220 healthy individuals were matched as controls with age (±5 years) and the same sex. High performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometer was used to detect and identify metabolites in serum samples of two groups at baseline. Lasso regression and multivariate conditional logistic regression were used to explore the metabolites associated with the onset of type 2 diabetes. Results: The age of participants at baseline was (53±7) years, and 41.82% were male. 25 out of 1 579 metabolites were selected to be potentially associated with the onset of type 2 diabetes in the lasso regression model. The multivariable conditional logistic regression analysis showed that only 7-Methylxanthine had an independent effect on type 2 diabetes (P=0.019). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) (95%CI) of the prediction model of type 2 diabetes based on traditional risk factors was 0.80 (0.76-0.85). After the 7-methylxanthine in the model, the AUC (95%CI) increased to 0.92 (0.89-0.95) (P<0.001). From the second year, 7-methylxanthine could improve the prediction performance (P=0.007). Conclusion: The level of 7-methylxanthine is related to the onset of type 2 diabetes, and can be used as a biomarker to predict its incidence risk.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Accumulating epidemiological studies support that Vitamin D deficiency is associated with the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. However, it is unknown whether vitamin D can be used as a treatment for preeclampsia. This study aimed to explore whether vitamin D supplementation could improve the rat model of preeclampsia. METHODS LPS was used to establish a rat model of preeclampsia. Inflammatory cytokines were examined by QRT-PCR and ELISA assays, and the concentration of sfit-1 and NO was assessed by ELISA. Analyzing the pathological features of the placenta with hematoxylin-eosin. The spatial learning and memory abilities of offspring were evaluated by the Morris water maze. Immune histology and western blot were performed to evaluate the expression levels of inflammatory pathway-associated Factor and vascular endothelium-associated Factor in the placenta. RESULTS Vitamin D treatment reduced the blood pressure and urine protein of PE model rats, alleviated pathological damage to the placenta and pregnancy outcomes, and protected PE offspring from impaired memory and learning abilities. Moreover, TLR4 signaling pathway in the placenta was inhibited. Furthermore, vitamin D supplementation increased the expression of endothelial growth factor and vascular relaxing factor, and there was no significant difference compared with the control group. DISCUSSION We generated the result that Vitamin D supplementation significantly improved the phenotype of preeclampsia and adverse pregnancy outcome caused by an abnormal inflammatory reaction and endothelial dysfunction in the placenta, and improved the learning and cognitive ability of offspring.

Abstract
The cornea is a transparent tissue with significant refractive and barrier functions. Corneal epithelium constitutes the first line of defense against foreign pathogens. Corneal epithelial cells interact to form a functionally selective permeability barrier. Dysfunction of this barrier leads to corneal impairment followed by a series of ocular surface diseases and even blindness. Tight junctions (TJ), located at the top of the intercellular space of corneal epithelial superficial cells, play a critical role in establishing and maintaining the barrier function. Previous studies have shown that destruction of the TJ acts as a crucial step of the occurrence and progression of multiple ocular surface diseases. Understanding the fundamental features and functions of the TJ, noticing the risk factors of TJ disruption, and clarifying the key role of TJ in the pathogenesis of various ocular surface diseases will help to better understand and treat ocular surface diseases.

Abstract
High grade optical components are rapidly being employed in a wide range of applications due to their great performance. Among these, KDP (potassium dihydrogen phosphate) is the preferred choice for frequency doubling components because to its large non-linear optical technique and high laser damage threshold. In this research, KDP is treated employing fixed polishing in an anhydrous environment. Copper oxide is utilized as abrasive, and toner and phenolic resin are combined to form pellets for KDP polishing. Calculation of the temperature field on the surface of the workpiece based on the relationship of the movement. The ideal polishing parameters are also determined from the findings of the temperature field and the optimum process parameters are 5kPa pressure, 150rpm and 8mm eccentricity. A new material removal model is presented and based on this, a unique processing technique to increase the material removal depth is provided. Interestingly, with this form of polishing, the surface roughness of the workpiece remains about Ra 20nm after a quick shift and does not alter with re-pressing.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effect of dyslipidemia on the clinical outcome of intracytoplasmic sperm injection-embryo transfer (ICSI-ET) in infertility patients receiving donor eggs. Methods: A total of 118 patients were selected to receive egg donors and ICSI-ET at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between April 2007 and December 2020. According to the levels of triacylglycerol, serum cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL), and low density lipoprotein, they were divided into dyslipidemia group (35 cases) and normal blood lipids group (83 cases). The influence of body mass index (BMI) and age was adjusted by 1∶1 propensity score matching, and the general condition and clinical outcome of the two groups were analyzed retrospectively. Finally, the relationship between lipid composition and clinical outcome was analyzed according to patients' age and BMI. Results: (1) Comparing the pre-matching dyslipidemia group with the normal blood lipids group, the BMI of the dyslipidemia group was significantly higher than that of the normal blood lipids group [(23.5±2.4) vs (22.4±2.7) kg/m2], and the embryo implantation rate was significantly lower than that of the normal blood lipids group [13.6% (8/59) vs 27.3% (36/132)], the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.05). (2) There were no significant differences in years of infertility, number of pregnancies, number of abortions, number of transplanted embryos, protocol of endometrial preparation, endometrial thickness on transplantation day and high quality embryo rate between the two groups, through propensity score matching (all P>0.05). The biochemical pregnancy rate [28.6% (10/35)], embryo implantation rate [13.6% (8/59)] and live birth rate [20.0% (7/35)] in dyslipidemia group were significantly lower than those in the normal blood lipids group (P<0.05). The clinical pregnancy rate was lower than that of the normal blood lipids group (P>0.05). (3) The results of stratified analysis showed that the level of HDL in the clinically non-pregnant group was significantly lower than that in the pregnant group in patients ≤ 35 years old [(1.5±0.3) vs (1.8±0.5) mmol/L; P<0.05]. In the overweight recipient patients, the level of HDL of the clinically non-pregnant group was lower than that of the pregnant group (P>0.05). Conclusions: Dyslipidemia significantly reduces the biochemical pregnancy rate, embryo implantation rate and live birth rate in patients with receiving donor eggs. Especially in patients aged ≤35 years old, the reduction of HDL is closely related to adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of surgical treatment of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) involving larynx and trachea. Methods: A total of 1 436 cases of thyroid malignant tumors were admitted to the Department of Otolaryngology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from 2004 to 2019, including 110 cases of PTC involving larynx and trachea, and of which 105 cases with complete follow-up data were retrospectively analyzed. There were 42 males and 63 females, with a male/female ratio of 1∶1.5, aged from 28 to 81 years. All lesions involved trachea, including 11 cases involving both trachea and larynx. Of those 83 cases underwent laryngeal and airway wall tumor excision, and 22 cases underwent radical tumor excision plus laryngeal and trachea repair. Extubation rate was analyzed and the postoperative survival curve of patients was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method. Results: Among 105 cases, 16 cases underwent tracheotomy and 12 cases were successfully extubated. The overall 3- 5- and 10-year survival rates were 100.0%, 86.4% and 72.5%, and the disease-free survival rates were 93.1%, 81.6% and 57.7%, respectively. There was significant difference in survival curve between the two groups (χ2=4.21, P=0.040). The 5-year and 10-year survival rates were 94.6% and 77.3% in laryngeal and tracheal tumor exclusion group, and 85.7% and 51.4% in the radical tumor resection group. There was no significant difference in the survival curves between the two groups (χ2=3.50, P=0.061). Conclusion: PTC patients with laryngeal and tracheal involvement can achieve long survival and good quality of life through reasonable surgical treatment.

Abstract
Background Human bocavirus 1 (HBoV1), first discovered in 2005, was positive in symptomatic and healthy children and co-detected with other respiratory viruses. It is a long journey to decisively demonstrate the unique viral pathogenic function of acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI) in pediatric patients. Methods Respiratory specimens collected from pediatric patients with ARTI from January 2017 to December 2021 were screened by a capillary electrophoresis-based multiplex PCR (CEMP) assay, then genotyped by PCR and sequencing for HBoV1. For the antigen test, a part of HBoV1 DNA positive nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPAs) was used as an antigen, while a rabbit anti-HBoV1 DR2 specific to HBoV1 was used as an antibody in the indirect-immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Finally, the levels of IgG specific to HBoV1 in acute and convalescent sera selected retrospectively from only HBoV1 DNA-positive patients were evaluated by IFA. Results Among 9,899 specimens, 681 were positive for HBoV1 DNA (6.88%, 681/9899), which included 336 positives only for HBoV1 (49.34%, 336/681) and 345 (50.66%, 345/681) positives also for other pathogens. In the antigen test, there were 37 among 47 NPAs determined as HBoV1 antigen-positive (78.72%, 37/47), including 18 (48.65%, 18/37) positives solely for HBoV1 DNA. Among 4 pediatric patients with both acute and convalescent sera, there was one positive for HBoV1 antigen (D8873) and 2 lack the antigen results (D1474 and D10792), which showed seroconversion with a ≥ 4-fold increase in IgG levels. Conclusions The combination results of nucleic acid, antigen, and serology tests answered that HBoV1 is a genuine pathogen for ARTI in pediatric patients.

Abstract
BackgroundBiological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are effective in suppressing inflammation and preventing joint damage. But bDMARDs may be associated with increased risk of severe infection. Evidence on this is contradictory with some studies showing increased risk, whereas others reporting no significant changes.ObjectivesTo determine the impact of the introduction of bDMARDs on severe infection among patients newly diagnosed with RA compared with non-RA individuals.MethodsIn this age- and gender-matched cohort study using administrative health data for the population of BC, Canada, all incident RA patients diagnosed between 1995–2007 were identified. Non-RA individuals were randomly selected from the general control population to match with RA. Incident RA/non-RA individuals were then divided into quarterly cohorts according to their diagnosis date. Two outcomes were examined: (1) first severe infection (FSI) after RA onset necessitating hospitalization or occurring during hospitalization; and (2) all severe infections (ASI) after RA onset. We calculated the 8-year FSI and ASI rate for each cohort. We conducted interrupted time-series analyses to compare levels and trends of FSI and ASI in RA and non-RA individuals diagnosed during pre-bDMARDs (1995–2001) and post-bDMARDs (2003–2007) periods. Adjusted 8-year FSI and ASI rates for RA and non-RA cohorts diagnosed five years after bDMARDs introduction were compared with expected rates assuming no bDMARDs introduction, based on extrapolation of pre-bDMARDs trends.ResultsA total of 60,226 and 588,499 incident RA/non-RA individuals were identified. We identified 8,954 FSI and 14,245 ASI in RA, and 56,153 FSI and 79,819 ASI in non-RA. The 8-year FSI rates among RA patients diagnosed in the pre-bDMARDs period decreased over time but leveled off among those diagnosed in the post-period (Figure 1). The adjusted difference between the post- and pre-bDMARDs secular trends of 8-year FSI rates was 0.68 (p=0.03) in RA and 0.03 (p=0.67) in non-RA (Table 1). The 8-year ASI rates among RA patients diagnosed in the pre-bDMARDs period decreased over time but increased significantly among those diagnosed in the post-period (Figure 1). The adjusted difference between the post- and pre-bDMARDs secular trends of 8-year ASI rates was 1.85 (p=0.001) in RA and 0.12 (p=0.29) in non-RA (Table 1). For RA cohort diagnosed 5 years after bDMARDs introduction, ASI rate increased by 20.4% than expected rates assuming no bDMARDs introduction. Abstract
BackgroundRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular (CV) events. Biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are effective in suppressing inflammation and preventing joint damage and may help lower the risk of CV events. However, recent epidemiological studies have shown mixed results with some suggesting a lower risk of CV events, while others reporting no significant differences.ObjectivesTo determine the impact of the introduction of bDMARDs on incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) among patients newly diagnosed with RA compared with matched non-RA individuals.MethodsIn this age- and gender-matched cohort study using administrative health data for the population of BC, Canada, all incident RA patients diagnosed between 1995–2007 were identified. Non-RA individuals were randomly selected from the general control population to match with RA. Incident RA and non-RA individuals were then divided into quarterly cohorts according to their diagnosis date. The outcome of interest was incident CVD event after RA onset, which include acute myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, and venous thromboembolism. We calculated the 8-year incident CVD rate for each cohort. We conducted interrupted time-series analyses to compare levels and trends of CVD in RA and non-RA individuals diagnosed during pre-bDMARDs (1995–2001) and post-bDMARDs (2003–2007) periods with intervention time set at year of 2002. Adjusted 8-year CVD rates for RA and non-RA cohorts diagnosed five years after bDMARDs introduction were compared with expected rates assuming no bDMARDs introduction, based on extrapolation of pre-bDMARDs trends.ResultsA total of 60,226 and 588,499 incident RA and non-RA individuals were identified. We identified 6,740 and 48,653 incident CVD events in total in RA and non-RA individuals, respectively. We observe no change in the secular trends of the 8-year CVD rates in both RA and non-RA individuals diagnosed in pre- and post-bDMARDS periods (Figure 1): the adjusted difference between the post- and pre-bDMARDs secular trends of 8-year CVD rates was 0.23 (p=0.26) for RA patients and -0.07 (p=0.33) for non-RA individuals (Table 1). Abstract
Effective detections of radionuclides including uranium and its predominant fission products, for example, iodine, are highly desired owing to their radiotoxicity and potential threat to human health. However, traditional analytical techniques of radionuclides are instrument-demanding, and chemosensors targeted for sensitization of radionuclides remain limited. In this regard, we report a sensitive and selective sensor of UO22+ and I- based on the unique quenching behavior of a luminescent Zr-based metal-organic framework, Zr6O4(OH)4(OH)6(H2O)6(TCPE)1.5·(H2O)24(C3H7NO)9 (Zr-TCPE). Immobilization of the luminescent tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)ethylene (TCPE4-) linkers by Zr6 nodes enhances the photoluminescence quantum yield of Zr-TCPE, which facilitates the effective sensing of radionuclides in a "turn-off" manner. Moreover, Zr-TCPE can sensitively and selectively recognize UO22+ and I- ions with the lowest limits of detection of 0.67 and 0.87 μg/kg, respectively, of which the former one is much lower than the permissible value (30 μg/L) defined by the U.S. EPA. In addition, Zr-TCPE features excellent hydrolytic stability and can withstand pH conditions ranging from 3 to 11. To facilitate real-world applications, we have further fabricated polyvinylidene fluoride-integrating Zr-TCPE as luminescence-based sensor membranes for on-site sensing of UO22+ and I-.

Abstract
Simple synthetic modulation based on uranyl acetate and phenanthroline has resulted in two uranyl clusters (1 and 2) with different topologies and nuclearities. Notably, the dimeric complex exhibits distinct luminescence quenching upon UV and X-ray irradiation with detection limits of 4.30 × 10-6 J and 0.32 Gy, respectively. To advance the practical application, 1 was further fabricated with polyvinylidene fluoride into a flexible strip as a UV and X-ray indicator.

Abstract
Background High-grade glioma is a type of heterogeneous lethal brain tumor most common in adults. At present, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are being considered for first-line therapeutics for malignant GBM. Nonetheless, molecular markers for malignant GBM are unavailable at present. As a result, it is important to explore molecular markers related to immunity for GBM. Materials and Methods The present study adopted a deconvolution algorithm for quantifying immunocyte composition and measuring gene expression, and used weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to analyze GBM expression data obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA), and the Cancer Genome Atlas Glioblastoma Multiforme (TCGA-GBM) databases. Thereafter, key CD8+ T cell infiltration-related genes and modules were identified, and database analysis was conducted to verify the therapeutic and immune features of the selected genes. Results From this study, CD8+ T cell-related modules were identified. By using consistent clustering analysis, two panels of genes (red and green) with the highest correlation with CD8+ T cells infiltration were used to construct high-, low-expression groups, silent and/or mixed group of T cell infiltrations. In the high and low CD8+ T cell infiltration groups, a total of 535 differential genes were obtained, of which ten genes (RPS5, RPS6, FAU, RPS19, RPS23, RPS15A, RPS29, RPS14, RPS16, RPS27A) were identified through protein–protein interactions and co-expression network analysis. Post Cox regression and Kaplan–Meier (K-M) survival analysis, RPS5, RPS6, and RPS16 were selected as candidate prognostic biomarkers related to CD8+ T cells. Conclusion The three associated genes RPS5, RPS6, and RPS16 were markedly related to degree of T cell infiltration and immune-related activated. We identified their potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets associated with the extent of CD8+ T cell infiltration in GBM.

Abstract
Based on the good self-healing ability to repair mechanical damage, self-healing hydrogels have aroused great interest and been extensively applied as functional materials. However, when partial failure of hydrogels caused by breaking or dryness occurs, leading to recycling problems, self-healing hydrogels cannot solve the mentioned defects and have to be abandoned. In this work, a novel recyclable and self-healing natural polymer hydrogel (Chitosan/polymethylacrylic acid-: CMA) was prepared. The CMA hydrogel not only exhibited controlled mechanical properties from 26 kPa to 125 kPa with tensile strain from 1357% to 3012%, but also had good water retaining property, stability and fast self-healing properties in 1 min. More importantly, the CMA hydrogel displayed attractive powder self-healing performance. After drying–powdering treatment, the mentioned abandoned hydrogels could easily rebuild their frame structure to recover their original state and performance in 1 min only by adding a small amount of water, which could significantly prolong their service life. These advantages guarantee the hydrogel can effectively defend against reversible mechanical damage, water loss and partial hydrogel failure, suggesting great potential applications as a recyclable functional hydrogel for biomaterials and electronic materials.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the clinical characteristics of different types of human adenovirus (HAdV) infection in hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection in Beijing, and to clarify the clinical necessity of adenovirus typing. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 9 022 respiratory tract specimens collected from hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection from November 2017 to October 2019 in Affiliated Children's Hospital, Capital Institute of Pediatrics were screened for HAdV by direct immunofluorescence (DFA) and (or) nucleic acid detection. Then the Penton base, Hexon and Fiber gene of HAdV were amplified from HAdV positive specimens to confirm their HAdV types by phylogenetic tree construction. Clinical data such as laboratory results and imaging data were analyzed for children with predominate type HAdV infection using t, U, or χ2 test. Results: There were 392 cases (4.34%) positive for HAdV among 9 022 specimens from hospitalized children with acute respiratory infection. Among those 205 cases who were successfully typed, 131 were male and 74 were female, age of 22.6 (6.7, 52.5) months,102 cases (49.76%) were positive for HAdV-3 and 86 cases (41.95%), HAdV-7, respectively, while 17 cases were confirmed as HAdV-1, 2, 4, 6, 14 or 21. In comparison of clinical characteristics between the predominate HAdV type 7 and 3 infection, significant differences were shown in proportions of children with wheezing (10 cases (11.63%) vs. 25 cases (24.51%)), white blood cell count >15 ×109/L (4 cases (4.65%) vs.14 cases (13.73%)), white blood cell count <5×109/L (26 cases (30.23%) vs.11 cases (10.78%)), procalcitonin level>0.5 mg/L (43 cases (50.00%) vs. 29 cases (28.43%)), multilobar infiltration (45 cases (52.33%) vs.38 cases (37.25%)), pleural effusion (23 cases (26.74%) vs. 10 cases (9.80%)), and severe adenovirus pneumonia (7 cases (8.14%) vs. 2 cases (1.96%)) with χ²=5.11, 4.44, 11.16, 9.19, 4.30, 9.25, 3.91 and P=0.024, 0.035, 0.001, 0.002, 0.038, 0.002, 0.048, respectively, and also in length of hospital stay (11 (8, 15) vs. 7 (5, 13) d, Z=3.73, P<0.001). Conclusions: HAdV-3 and 7 were the predominate types of HAdV infection in hospitalized children with acute respiratory tract infection in Beijing. Compared with HAdV-3 infection, HAdV-7 infection caused more obvious inflammatory reaction, more severe pulmonary symptoms, longer length of hospital stay, suggesting the clinical necessity of further typing of HAdVs.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Children are the future of the world, but their health and future are facing great uncertainty because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In order to improve the management of children with COVID-19, an international, multidisciplinary panel of experts developed a rapid advice guideline at the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. After publishing the first version of the rapid advice guideline, the panel has updated the guideline by including additional stakeholders in the panel and a comprehensive search of the latest evidence. All recommendations were supported by systematic reviews and graded using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. Expert judgment was used to develop good practice statements supplementary to the graded evidence-based recommendations. The updated guideline comprises nine recommendations and one good practice statement. It focuses on the key recommendations pertinent to the following issues: identification of prognostic factors for death or pediatric intensive care unit admission; the use of remdesivir, systemic glucocorticoids and antipyretics, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) for multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, and high-flow oxygen by nasal cannula or non-invasive ventilation for acute hypoxemic respiratory failure; breastfeeding; vaccination; and the management of pediatric mental health. CONCLUSION This updated evidence-based guideline intends to provide clinicians, pediatricians, patients and other stakeholders with evidence-based recommendations for the prevention and management of COVID-19 in children and adolescents. Larger studies with longer follow-up to determine the effectiveness and safety of systemic glucocorticoids, IVIG, noninvasive ventilation, and the vaccines for COVID-19 in children and adolescents are encouraged. WHAT IS KNOWN • Several clinical practice guidelines for children with COVID-19 have been developed, but only few of them have been recently updated. • We developed an evidence-based guideline at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and have now updated it based on the results of a comprehensive search of the latest evidence. Abstract
Accurate reduction is of vital importance in the treatment of zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fractures. Computer-assisted navigation systems (CANS) have been employed in ZMC fractures to improve the accuracy of surgical reduction. However, randomized controlled trials on this subject are rare and the benefits of CANS remain controversial. The aim of this study was to compare reduction errors between navigation-aided and conventional surgical treatment for ZMC fractures. Thirty-eight patients with unilateral type B ZMC fractures were enrolled. Preoperative computed tomography data were imported into ProPlan software for virtual surgical planning. Open reduction and internal fixation was performed with CANS (experimental group) or without CANS (control group). Postoperative computed tomography scans were obtained to examine the difference between surgical planning and the actual postoperative outcome, namely reduction errors. The median translational reduction errors in the X, Y, and Z axes were 0.80 mm, 0.40 mm, and 0.80 mm, respectively, in the experimental group and 0.53 mm, 0.86 mm, and 0.83 mm, respectively, in the control group (P > 0.05). The median rotational reduction errors in pitch, roll, and yaw were 0.92°, 2.47°, and 1.54°, respectively, in the experimental group and 1.45°, 3.68°, and 0.76°, respectively, in the control group (P > 0.05). In conclusion, compared with conventional reduction surgery, navigation-aided surgery showed no significant improvement in reduction accuracy in the treatment of type B ZMC fractures (Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, registration number ChiCTR1800015559).

Abstract
A brand-new application of thorium-bearing clusters in the field of ionizing radiation detection is exemplified by two novel hexanuclear thorium clusters, Th-bppCOO-1 and Th-bppCOO-2, which incorporate carboxylate-functionalized 2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine ligands. Notably, Th-bppCOO-1 is composed of an unprecedented [Th6(OH)4O4(H2O)5]12+ secondary building unit, the Th6 core of which is decorated by five H2O molecules. Furthermore, selective photoluminescence quenching responses of Th-bppCOO-1 and Th-bppCOO-2 toward X-ray over UV radiation have been demonstrated for the first time.

Abstract
Single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation of metal-organic frameworks has been met with great interest, as it allows for the creation of new materials in a stepwise manner and direct visualization of structural transitions when subjected to external stimuli. However, it remains a peculiarity among numerous metal-organic frameworks, particularly for the ones constructed from tetravalent metal cations. Herein, we present a cationic thorium-organic framework displaying unprecedented triple single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformations in organic solvents, water, and NaIO3 solution. Notably, both the interpenetration conversion and topological change driven by the SC-SC transformation have remained elusive for thorium-organic frameworks. Moreover, the single-crystal-to-single-crystal transition in NaIO3 solution can efficiently and selectively turn the ligand-based emission off, leading to the lowest limit of detection (0.107 μg kg-1) of iodate, one of the primary species of long-lived fission product 129I in aqueous medium, among all luminescent sensors.

Abstract
Polymorphism control of metal-organic frameworks is highly desired for elucidating structure-property relationships, but remains an empirical process and is usually done in a trial-and-error approach. We adopted the rarely used actinide cation Th4+ and a ditopic linker to construct a series of thorium-organic frameworks (TOFs) with a range of polymorphs. The extraordinary coordination versatility of Th4+ cations and clusters, coupled with synthetic modulation, gives five distinct phases, wherein the highest degree of interpenetration (threefold) and porosity (75.9 %) of TOFs have been achieved. Notably, the O atom on the capping site of the nine-coordinated Th4+ cation can function as a bridging unit to interconnect neighboring secondary building units (SBUs), affording topologies that are undocumented for other tetravalent-metal-containing MOFs. Furthermore, for the first time HCOOH has been demonstrated as a bridging unit of SBUs to further induce structural complexity. The resulting TOFs exhibit considerably different adsorption behaviors toward organic dyes, thus suggesting that TOFs represent an exceptional and promising platform for structure-property relationship study.

Abstract
A novel purification process was proposed for molten salts based on the polarization of a hydrogen electrode on nickel, i.e., H+/H2, Ni electrode. The features of the H+/H2, Ni electrode in typical chloride and fluoride molten salts were investigated. Consistent current electrolysis was performed in a feasible polarization range, and the deoxidation efficiency was higher than that of the traditional chemical or electrochemical purification methods in both chloride and fluoride molten salts. Only H2 was used as a purification source gas, and almost no toxic HF or corrosive HCl emissions were used or occurred in the new process. The application range of the proposed method was also discussed. A novel and high efficiency purification method for fluoride or chloride molten salts based on the redox of hydrogen on a nickel electrode.![]()
