Abstract
BACKGROUND Ophthalmic lymphomas, a subgroup of extra-nodal lymphomas, have seen an increase in incidence in recent decades. Of these, the NK/T-cell lymphoma (NKTL) subtype is particularly aggressive. Though prevalent mostly in Asian patients, data on ophthalmic NKTL is still limited, especially in the western population. This study aimed to provide an additional analysis of primary ophthalmic NKTL using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed on the SEER database covering records from 2000 to 2020. Patients diagnosed with extranodal NKTL originating primarily from an ophthalmic structure were identified. RESULTS Out of 4540 ophthalmic lymphomas registered in the SEER database between 2000 and 2020, 9 cases (0.2%) corresponded to ophthalmic NKTL, occurring in patients with a median age of 67 years. The majority of these patients underwent chemotherapy (88.8%) and radiotherapy (66.6%). The 6-month overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were both at 50.8%, dropping significantly at the 2-year follow-up. CONCLUSION Primary orbital NKTL has a notably severe prognosis. An early diagnosis is important due to the aggressive nature of NKTL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is rare and clinical data from non-Asian countries are lacking. It is unclear whether outcomes and disease natural history is similar to reported Asian series. We assessed characteristics and outcomes of patients with ENKTL from major North American centers. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively identified patients with newly-diagnosed CD56 + ENKTL and studied disease characteristics and clinical outcomes. RESULTS One hundred and twenty-one patients with ENKTL diagnosed between June 1990 and November 2012 were identified. Eighty-three patients (69%) had stage I/II disease and were treated with combined modality therapy (CMT) (n = 53), chemotherapy alone (CT) (n = 14) or radiotherapy alone (RT) (n = 16). Thirty-eight patients (31%) had stage III/IV disease and were treated with CMT (n = 12), CT (n = 23), or RT (n = 3). The median follow-up for the entire cohort was 51 months. Patients with stage I/II disease, compared to those with stage III/IV disease, had superior 2-year progression free survival (PFS) 43% vs 19% (P = .03) and overall survival (OS) 59% vs. 29% (P= .004). Outcomes were similar for stage I/II patients who received CMT vs. RT alone with 2-year PFS (53% vs. 47%; P= .91) and OS (67% vs. 67%; P= .58). No significant differences in outcomes were noted based on race/ethnicity. CONCLUSIONS This series represents a large experience of ENKTL treated at several major North American academic centers. Our data are consistent with Asian studies: (1) majority of patients present with early-stage disease; (2) overall poor outcome regardless of race/ethnicity; (3) CMT likely yields favorable outcomes for suitable candidates with early-stage disease.

Abstract
Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTCL-NT) is an aggressive malignancy associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection, with a geographic and racial predilection for some Asian and Latin American countries. ENKTCL-NT manifests as a necrotic process affecting nasal or upper aerodigestive structures and, rarely, extranasal sites such as skin, and the gastrointestinal tract. ENKTCL-NT was characterized by its poor prognosis irrespective of clinical stage and therapy. However, during the last two decades, advances in its clinicopathologic, genetic and molecular characterization have been achieved, as have changes in the chemotherapy regimens that, in combination with radiotherapy, are significantly improving the survival of these patients, especially in initial stages. For these reasons, we present an overview of the historical background of ENKTCL-NT along with an updated review of its potential etiological factors, clinicopathologic and molecular features, as well as its prognostic models, current treatment protocols, and future directions on potential promising therapeutic approaches.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prognostic significance of ABO blood type for lymphoma is largely unknown. We evaluated the prognostic role of ABO blood type in patients with extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL). METHODS We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 697 patients with newly diagnosed ENKTL from three cancer centers. The prognostic value of ABO blood type was evaluated using Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazard models. The prognostic values of the International Prognostic Index (IPI) and the Korean Prognostic Index (KPI) were also evaluated. RESULTS Compared with patients with blood type O, those with blood type non-O tended to display elevated baseline serum C-reactive protein levels (P = 0.038), lower rate of complete remission (P = 0.005), shorter progression-free survival (PFS, P < 0.001), and shorter overall survival (OS, P = 0.001). Patients with blood type O/AB had longer PFS (P < 0.001) and OS (P = 0.001) compared with those with blood type A/B. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that age >60 years (P < 0.001), mass ≥5 cm (P = 0.001), stage III/IV (P < 0.001), elevated serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels (P = 0.001), and blood type non-O were independent adverse predictors of OS (P = 0.001). ABO blood type was found to be superior to both the IPI in discriminating patients with different outcomes in the IPI low-risk group and the KPI in distinguishing between the intermediate-to-low- and high-to-intermediate-risk groups. CONCLUSIONS ABO blood type was an independent predictor of clinical outcome for patients with ENKTL.

Abstract
The epidemiological and clinicopathological features of cutaneous lymphoma may vary by geographical area. However, only a few large-scale epidemiological studies of cutaneous lymphoma have been performed, mainly in the USA and Europe. This aim of this study was to determine the recent characteristics of cutaneous lymphoma in Korea according to the WHO/EORTC classification. A total of 422 patients with newly diagnosed cutaneous lymphoma from January 2009 to December 2013 comprising 293 cases of mature T-cell and natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma and 39 cases of mature B-cell lymphoma were retrospectively reviewed. The incidence of mature B-cell lymphoma was lower in Korea than in Europe and the USA. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was more prevalent in Korea than in Western countries. The incidence of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal-type was higher in Korea than in Western countries and Japan.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is the most common anatomic site of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) involvement. The classification criteria of lymphoma have changed in recent decades, and few large-sample studies regarding subtype analysis of lymphoma have been performed in this site. AIM Therefore, the present study was conducted to analyze the histological subtype distribution of the GIT. METHOD All patients in a single institution with a diagnosis of primary NHL in the GIT were enrolled between January 2007 and April 2014. The patients were categorized according to the WHO (2008) classification of tumors of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissue. RESULT A total of 1,010 eligible cases diagnosed as NHL were collected in this study. The male:female ratio was 1.7:1 and the median age was 55 years. The percent of patients with lymphoma involvement in the stomach was 52% (n = 522), and the remaining 48% (n = 484) had intestinal tract involvement. Histologically, diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was the most common subtype in all of the GIT lymphoma cases, and was also the most common subtype in cases involving the stomach (78%) and the intestinal tract (53%). The incidence of DLBCL and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma in the stomach was significantly higher than the incident in the intestinal tract (p < 0.01). T and NK cell lymphoma was significantly more common in the intestinal tract than in the stomach (p < 0.01). Extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma nasal type (ENKTL-N) was the most common subtype of T and NK cell lineage lymphoma in GIT and was also the second most common intestinal tract-involved lymphoma. CONCLUSION DLBCL was the most frequent lymphoma in the stomach and in the intestinal tract. T and NK cell lineage lymphoma had a higher occurrence in the intestinal tract than in the stomach. ENKTL-N was the most frequent subtype of lymphoma derived from NK/T cell lineage, and was the second most common lymphoma among all intestinal tract lymphomas.

Abstract
The objective of the current study was to assess the prognostic factors in patients with extranodal natural killer (NK)/T cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL). We retrospectively analyzed 35 patients who were diagnosed with ENKL between 1998 and 2011. The median patient age was 63 years, and the male/female ratio was 22:13; twenty patients had localized ENKL, and 26 had a good Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (score 0 or 1). B symptoms were present in 17 patients. Twenty-five patients presented with nasal or paranasal lesions, or both. With a median follow-up duration among patients still alive at their last follow-up of 47 months (range 8-93 months), the 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was 44.5 %. Multivariate analysis revealed that advanced disease stage (P = 0.002), the presence of extranasal disease (P = 0.013), and serum ferritin levels greater than 300 ng/ml (P < 0.001) were significant and independent (negative) prognostic factors. High serum ferritin levels were associated with the presence of B symptoms, elevated lactate dehydrogenase levels, and high soluble interleukin-2 receptor levels, but not with clinical stage. Patients with high ferritin levels had a remarkably low remission rate (23 %) and a short OS time (median: 4 months). Serum ferritin level at the time of diagnosis of ENKL was a useful prognostic factor.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the frequency of different types of mature T- and NK-cell lymphomas diagnosed in a 4-year period at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, and to study baseline CD30 for potential anti-CD30 targeted therapy in mature T- and NK-cell lymphoma. METHODS All cases of mature T- and NK-cell lymphoma diagnosed at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2013, were reviewed. Paraffin-blocks of available 164 consecutive cases were stained for CD30 immunohistochemistry using EnVision protocol. RESULTS A total of 625 cases of mature T- and NK-cell lymphomas were diagnosed and the most common type was extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal type 319 (51.0%) cases, followed by angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) (119 cases, 19.0%), peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS) (81 cases, 13.0%), and anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL), including 48 cases (7.7%) of systematic ALCL and 11 cases (1.8%) of primary cutaneous ALCL. Besides ALCL, ENKTL had the highest expression rate of CD30 among the 164 cases, with positivity observed in 41 cases (62.1%, 41/66). Only 1 case of PTCL-NOS was CD30 positive. CD30 was not expressed in all 28 cases of AITL and other rare types of mature T- and NK-cell lymphoma. CONCLUSIONS The frequency of different types of mature T- and NK-cell lymphoma encountered at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center was similar to that seen in other areas of China and other Asia countries. CD30 expression is different among several types of mature T- and NK-cell lymphoma. In addition to ALCL, ENKTL has the highest expression rate of CD30, which may be a candidate disease for anti-CD30 targeted therapy.

Abstract
Mature natural killer (NK) cell neoplasms are classified by the World Health Organization into NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type (NKTCL), aggressive NK-cell leukemia (ANKCL) and chronic lymphoproliferative disorders of NK-cells, the latter being considered provisionally. NKTCL and ANKCL are rare diseases, with higher prevalence in Asia, Central and South America. Most NKTCL present extranodal, as a destructive tumor affecting the nose and upper aerodigestive tract (nasal NKTCL) or any organ or tissue (extranasal NKTCL) whereas ANKCL manifests as a systemic disease with multiorgan involvement and naturally evolutes to death in a few weeks. The histopathological hallmark of these aggressive NK-cell tumors is a polymorphic neoplastic infiltrate with angiocentricity, angiodestruction and tissue necrosis. The tumor cells have cytoplasmatic azurophilic granules and usually show a CD45(+bright), CD2(+), sCD3(-), cytCD3epsilon(+), CD56(+bright), CD16(−/+), cytotoxic granules molecules(+) phenotype. T-cell receptor genes are in germ-line configuration. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) -encoded membrane proteins and early region EBV RNA are usually detected on lymphoma cells, with a pattern suggestive of a latent viral infection type II. Complex chromosomal abnormalities are frequent and loss of chromosomes 6q, 11q, 13q, and 17p are recurrent aberrations. The rarity of the NK-cell tumors limits our ability to standardize the procedures for the diagnosis and clinical management and efforts should be made to encourage multi-institutional registries.

Abstract
The Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), an inflammation-based prognostic score including C-reactive protein and albumin, shows significant prognostic value in several types of solid tumors. The prognostic value of GPS in lymphoma remains unclear. We performed this study to evaluate the prognostic significance of GPS in extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma (ENKL). We retrospectively analyzed 164 patients with newly diagnosed ENKL. The prognostic value of GPS was evaluated and compared with that of International Prognostic Index (IPI), Prognostic Index for Peripheral T-cell lymphoma unspecified (PIT), and Korean Prognostic Index (KPI). Patients with higher GPS tended to have more adverse clinical characteristics, lower rates of complete remission (P < 0.001), inferior progression-free survival (PFS, P < 0.001), and inferior overall survival (OS, P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that high GPS, age > 60 years, and elevated LDH were independent adverse predictors of OS. GPS was found superior to IPI, PIT, and KPI in discriminating patients with different outcomes in low-risk groups (all P < 0.05). GPS is an independent predictor of survival outcomes in ENKL. Inflammatory response might play an important role in the progression of ENKL and survival of patients with ENKL.
