Abstract
Objective: To investigate the mid-term clinical outcome of deep layer repair with the long head of the biceps autograft bridging for Kim classification type ⅠA delaminated rotator cuff tear. Methods: A follow-up study. The clinical data of 42 consecutive patients with Kim classification type ⅠA delaminated rotator cuff tear admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from January 2018 to June 2019 were retrospectively included. All patients underwent shoulder arthroscopic surgery. During the operation, the autogenous long head of the biceps tendon was transferred to repair the deep layer of delaminated rotator cuff tear. The preoperative and postoperative (last follow-up) visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) score, Constant-Murley shoulder score, range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder and radiographic results were statistically analyzed. Results: A total of 42 patients were included in this study. There were 18 males and 24 females, with an average age of (64.5±15.2) years and a mean follow-up of (43.9±7.1) months. At the last follow-up, ROM of abduction increased from 80.8°±26.5° to 154.2°±14.3°, and ROM of external rotation increased from 18.2°±13.6° to 31.8°±7.8°; the VAS score of pain decreased from (5.5±1.3) points to (0.7±0.7) points, the UCLA score increased from (21.3±3.7) points to (29.9±2.1) points, and the Constant-Murley score increased from (45.4±10.0) points to (87.2±4.8) points; the differences were all statistically significant (all P<0.001). The X-ray films showed that there were no upward of the humeral head in all the patients. MRI results indicated that rotator cuff re-teared in one case (Sugaya classification type Ⅲ), and healed in other cases (Sugaya classification type Ⅰ-Ⅱ). No complications such as upper limb nerve injury was found in all cases. Conclusion: Deep layer repair with the long head of the biceps autograft bridging can significantly alleviate the pain and improve the function of patients with Kim classification type ⅠA delaminated rotator cuff tear, and the incidence of retear is low.

Abstract
Autophagy is a lysosomal mediated catabolic process that helps maintain cell balance and survival under extracellular or intracellular stress by degrading different cytoplasmic components. Autophagy is also a significant way for the body to defend pathogen invasion, which is swallowed by the phagosomes of host cells. When the phagosomes mature, they form autophagosomes, which are fused with lysosomes to form autophagolysosomes. Autophagolysosomes degrade due to the action of various hydrolases and remove pathogens at the same time. By interfering with the autophagy level of host cells, pulmonary atypical pathogens can escape from the host cells and be cleared by autophagy, and reproduce in host cells, finally reaching the goal of infecting the host. This article presented a brief review of recent studies on the relationship between infection and autophagy of three common atypical pathogens in the lung.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the role of replication factor C subunit 5 (RFC5) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) from four aspects: expression, prognosis, biological functions, and its effects on the immune system. METHODS The RFC5 gene expression and survival analyses, biological function analyses including functional enrichment analysis of genes co-expressed with RFC5, RFC5-interacted gene network construction, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), and immune infiltration analysis were performed using data based on GDC TCGA and GEO. The CIBERSORT algorithm was employed to quantify immune cell fractions. All the statistical analyses were performed in SPSS software, GraphPad Prism, and R software. RESULTS RFC5 expression was abnormally expressed in AML (P <0.05). Notably, differential RFC5 expression was observed among different FAB AML subtypes and hematopoietic lineages (all P <0.05). More importantly, high RFC5 expression served as an independent prognostic factor for the poor overall survival of AML patients (P <0.001). Enrichment analyses revealed that RFC5 was involved in cell cycle-related pathways in AML. CIBERSORT analysis showed high proportions of M2 macrophages in the high RFC5 expression group. CONCLUSIONS RFC5 might serve as an effective and robust biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of AML. RFC5 might be involved in the AML progression via cell cycle regulation. Moreover, the correlation between RFC5 and immune cells might provide potential assistance for AML treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the value of multimodal neuroelectrophysiological monitoring technology in the evaluation of spinal cord and nerve root function for the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis with debridement and bone grafting and posterior internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach. METHODS The clinical data of 25 patients with thoracic tuberculosis underwent debridement and bone grafting and posterior vertebral arch internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach from December 2018 to September 2019 was retrospectively analyzed. Among these 25 patients, including 14 males and 11 females;aged from 20 to 83 years old, with a mean of (63.45±9.65) years;there were 3 cases of single vertebral body destruction, 13 cases of 2 vertebral bodies destruction, and 9 cases of 3 or more vertebral bodies destruction. All surgical patients underwent intraoperative detection of somatosensory evoked potential(SEP) and transcranial electric stimulation-motor evoked potential(TES-MEP);and electromyography (EMG) was used to monitor the pedicle screw placement and lesion removal. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) was used to evaluate the decline of inflammatory indexes, the visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the thoracic spine pain, and the Cobb angle and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) were used to evaluate the improvement of function. RESULTS All 25 patients were successfully monitored. Five patients had abnormal SEP waveforms during operation, 3 cases were caused by intraoperative clearing of lesions and spinal cord compression during irrigation, timely replacement of instruments and gestures, and adjustment of irrigation water flow rate returned the waveform to normal; one case was caused by a decrease in systolic blood pressure, and the waveform returned to normal after timely treatment of increased blood pressure;after 1 case of SEP waveform abnormality, the operation was suspended for 10 minutes and recovered spontaneously, and the waveform abnormality did not reappear until the end of the operation. Seven patients had abnormal TES-MEP waveforms, 5 cases occurred when the pedicle screw was inserted, the nail path was adjusted in time, and the waveform recovered after nail repositioning;one case was caused by tilting the operation bed during operation, and the waveform gradually recovered after adjusting the tilt angle of operation bed; one case occurred during the correction of the pedicle screw and rod system, and the waveform gradually returned to normal after the contralateral screw and rod correction were completed during operation. In 5 cases, the EMG burst potential was detected at the same time when the TES-MEP waveform was abnormal. After adjustment, the EMG burst potential disappeared. There was no abnormality in the TES-MEP and SEP waveforms at the same time. Postoperative VAS, ESR, Cobb angle, and ODI were improved compared with preoperatively (P<0.05). CONCLUSION In patients with thoracic tuberculosis, the use of debridement and bone grafting and posterior internal fixation by transcostal transverse process approach combined with intraoperative SEP, TES-MEP and EMG monitoring can timely reflect the spinal cord and nerve root function, avoid intraoperative injuries while achieving good fixation and lesion removal.

Abstract
Objective To explore the value of multi‐mode neuroelectrophysiological monitoring (MIOM) in evaluating spinal cord and nerve root function in the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis via costal transverse process approach. Methods From December 2017 to September 2019, a retrospective study of thoracic tuberculosis patients in our hospital was conducted. This study included 25 patients (14 men and 11 women). The average age of patients at the time of surgery was 63.3 years (range, 20–83 years). All patients (three cases with the destruction of a single vertebral body, 13 cases with the destruction of two vertebral bodies, and nine cases with the destruction of three or more vertebral bodies) underwent costal transverse process approach with debridement and bone grafting and internal fixation combined with intraoperative multimodal neuroelectrophysiological monitoring. During the operation, somatosensory evoked potential (SEP), transcranial electrical stimulation motor evoked potential (TES‐MEP), and spontaneous electromyography (EMG) were used to monitor progress. ESR, visual analogue scale (VAS), Cobb angle, and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were statistically analyzed to evaluate the treatment effects and patient satisfaction. Results All 25 patients were successfully monitored. The follow‐up time ranged from 12 to 21 months, with an average of 15.3 months. SEP waveform abnormalities occurred in five patients during the operation, the incidence rate was 28%. Of these five patients, three patients changed their instruments and postures, and adjusted the flushing water flow in time; one patient received pressure therapy in time; the operation was suspended for 10 min for one patient. There were seven cases with abnormal TES‐MEP waveform, the incidence rate was 28%. Among these seven cases, five cases adjusted the nail path during the operation and adjusted the nail position in time. One case adjusted the inclination angle of the operating table in time; one case completed the contralateral nail stick correction in time; five of them had abnormal TES‐MEP waveforms, and EMG burst potential was also detected, the incidence rate was 20%. After prompt treatment, the abnormal waveforms of all patients returned to normal; no abnormal waveforms, recurrence of tuberculosis, loosening of internal fixation, nerve and spinal cord dysfunction, etc. The VAS score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), Cobb angle, and ODI scores of the patients 1 year after operation were significantly improved compared with 1 week after operation (P < 0.05). Conclusion Multi‐mode intraoperative electrophysiological detection combined with costal transverse process approach for the treatment of thoracic tuberculosis could avoid intraoperative nerve and blood vessel damage, reduce surgical risk, improve surgical efficiency, and ensure curative effect.

Abstract
This study numerically investigates a two-dimensional physical model of methane/air mixture combustion in catalytic and non-catalytic porous media. The temperature distribution and flame stability of combustion in inert alumina (Al2O3) pellets and platinum (Pt) catalyst-supported alumina (Al2O3) pellets, were studied by changing the burner structure, operating parameters, and physical properties of alumina pellets. The simulation results indicated that the gas temperature in the inert porous medium is higher than that in a catalytic porous medium, while the solid temperature in an inert porous medium is lower than that in a catalytic porous medium. The flame moved toward the burner exit with the increasing diameter of the packed pellets at a lower equivalence ratio and moved toward upstream with the increased thermal conductivity of packed pellets. The flame location of the catalytic porous burner was more sensitive to the flame velocity and insensitive to thermal conductivity compared to the inert porous burner. The distance of the flame location to the burner inlet is almost constant with the increasing length of the porous media for both the catalytic and inert porous burner, while the relative position of the flame location moved toward the upstream.

Abstract
Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1 (GLRaV-1) is a major pathogen associated with grapevine leafroll disease. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying GLRaV-1 interactions with plant cells are unclear. Using Agrobacterium infiltration-mediated RNA-silencing assays, we demonstrated that GLRaV-1 p24 protein (p24G1) acts as an RNA-silencing suppressor (RSS), inhibiting local and systemic RNA silencing. Electrophoretic mobility shift assays showed that p24G1 binds double-stranded 21-nucleotide small interfering RNA (siRNA), and that siRNA binding is required but not sufficient for its RSS activity. p24G1 localizes in the nucleus and can self-interact through its amino acid 10 to 210 region. Dimerization is needed for p24G1 interaction with importin α1 before moving to the nucleus, but is not required for its siRNA binding and RSS activity. Expression of p24G1 from a binary pGD vector or potato virus X-based vector elicited a strong hypersensitive response in Nicotiana species, indicating that p24G1 may be a factor in pathogenesis. Furthermore, p24G1 function in pathogenesis required its RSS activity, dimerization and nuclear localization. In addition, the region of amino acids 122-139 played a crucial role in the nuclear import, siRNA binding, silencing suppression and pathogenic activity of p24G1. These results contribute to our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying GLRaV-1 infection.

Abstract
Beta-glucosidase (GBA), also known as acid β-glucosidase, exhibits an activity of glucosylceramidase (EC 3.2.1.45). Three main isoforms of β-glucosidases have been identified in mammals: GBA1, GBA2, and GBA3. The deficiency of these enzymes leads to glucosylceramide accumulation, resulting in Gaucher's disease. The present study is focused on the cytosolic β-glucosidase, GBA3, and its relationship with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The expression of GBA3 mRNA in HCC was evaluated first using the TCGA database, and then by immunohistochemistry using tissue microarrays of 328 clinically characterized HCC samples and 151 non-tumor liver controls. Moreover, the presence of a correlation between GBA3 expression and clinicopathological characteristics of patients was examined. The obtained results indicated that the expression of GBA3 mRNA was significantly lower in HCC than in the adjacent non-tumor liver tissues. The expression of GBA3 was inversely related to the number of tumors (p=0.041), tumor size (p<0.001), Edmondson grade (p=0.007), microvascular invasion (p=0.049), patient status (p<0.001), and α-fetoprotein level (p<0.001). Patients exhibiting low GBA3 expression had a shorter survival time than those with high expression (p<0.001). In conclusion, the decreased GBA3 expression is strongly associated with a poor prognosis in HCC patients, and GBA3 may be a potential therapeutic target for HCC.

Abstract
This study compared the abnormal corneal epithelium after laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (LASEK) with dystrophic cornea using in vivo using confocal microscopy (IVCM) and examined the effects of the abnormal epithelium on postoperative recovery of uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and sub-basal nerve plexus regeneration. The UDVA and wound healing were examined in 50 eyes of 25 patients undergoing LASEK at 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year postoperatively, including the visual acuity, slit lamp microscopy, and IVCM. After 1 week, the corneal epithelium was healed in all patients, but abnormal epithelial cells were detected in 33/50 patients using IVCM. Abnormal cells were limited to the surgical margin, and highly reflective granules were observed underneath. At 1 month and 1 year postoperatively, the abnormal epithelium was unchanged in size. At 1 year postoperatively, there were clear differences between the sub-basal nerve plexus in the normal and abnormal epithelium. At 1 month postoperatively, the UDVA was >1.0 in 88% of patients, which increased to 94% at 1 year, and there was no clear difference in the UDVA between abnormal (N = 33) and normal (N = 17) epithelium. After LASEK, abnormal epithelial cells may arise at the margin of the epithelial flap and persist 1 year postoperatively accompanied by poor regeneration of the sub-basal nerve plexus. However, this does not affect the UDVA postoperatively. The abnormal epithelium may be caused by residual necrotic basal cell debris on the epithelial basement membrane and abnormal neurotrophic metabolism between the corneal epithelium and nerve plexus.

Abstract
The effect of different lighting environments on the vision and refractive error were investigated in 427 Kazakhs (828 eyes) aged from 40 to 60 years old, of which 279 were pastoral (546 eyes) and 148 were urban (282 eyes). Pastoral Kazakhs use natural illumination, whereas city Kazakhs mainly use artificial illumination. Of all cases, 19.1% (54 cases) had a vision of 0.4 to 0.5, 20.9% (59 cases) had 0.6 to 0.8, and 17.7% (50 cases) had above 1.0. However, the visual acuity distribution of the pastoral Kazakhs had a more obvious characteristic, which was mainly concentrated above 0.6. The vision of 25.1% (137) of cases was 0.6 to 0.8, whereas 58.4% (319) of cases had vision above 1.0. There were more cases with vision above 1.0 in the pastoral Kazakhs compared to the city Kazakhs (P < 0.05). The diopter of the city Kazakhs was between 0 D and -4.0 D, whereas that of the pastoral Kazakhs was between +2.0 D and -2.0 D. Diopters between +2.0 D and 0 D or less than 3.0 D differed significantly between the two groups. Daylight lamps were the main illumination photosources of the city Kazakhs. Artificial light illuminated 70.9% (105 cases) of the city Kazakhs for more than 6 h. By contrast, natural light illuminated 75.3% (210 cases) of the pastoral Kazakhs for an outdoor activity time of more than 9 h. These results suggest that poor lighting environment is a very important factor contributing to refractive error.

Abstract
Continuous cultures of Chaetoceros muelleri and Isochrysis galbana were grown outdoors in flat plate-glass reactors in which light-path length (LPL) varied from 5 to 30 cm. High daily productivity (13 to 16 g cell mass per square meter of irradiated reactor surface) for long periods of time was obtained in reactors in which the optical path as well as cell density were optimized. 'Twenty centimeters was the optimal LPL, yielding the highest areal productivity of cell mass (g m(-2)d(-1)), eicosapentaenoic acid, and docosahexaenoic acid, which was identical with that previously found for polysaccharide production of Porphyridium and not far from the optimal LPL affecting maximal productivity in Nannochloropsis species. Relating the energy impinging on a given reactor surface area to the appropriate number of cells showed that the most efficient light dose per cell, obtained with the 20-cm LPL reactor, was approximately 2.5 times lower than the light dose available per cell in the 5-cm LPL reactor, in which a significant decline in areal cell density accompanied the lowest areal output of cell mass. The most effective harvesting regimen was in the range of 10% to 15% of culture volume harvested daily and replaced with fresh growth medium, resulting in a sustainable culture density of 24 x 10(6) and 28 x 10(6) cells/ml of C. muelleri and I. galbana, respectively.

Abstract
Efforts to understand the molecular basis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) envelope glycoprotein function have been hampered by the inability to generate sufficient quantities of homogeneous material. We now report on the high level expression, purification, and characterization of soluble HIV gp140 ectodomain proteins in Chinese hamster ovary-Lec3.2.8.1 cells. Gel filtration and analytical ultracentrifugation show that the uncleaved ADA strain-derived gp140 proteins are trimeric without further modification required to maintain oligomers. These spike proteins are native as judged by soluble CD4 (sCD4) (K(D) = 1-2 nm) and monoclonal antibody binding studies using surface plasmon resonance. CD4 ligation induces conformational change in the trimer, exposing the chemokine receptor binding site as assessed by 17b monoclonal antibody reactivity. Lack of anti-cooperativity in sCD4-ADA trimer interaction distinct from that observed with sCD4-SIV mac32H implies quaternary structural differences in ground states of their respective spike proteins.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to measure certain diameters of the pterygopalatine fossa (PPF) and to discuss the anatomic appearance of PPF on CT images. METHODS 20 dry skulls were scanned by CT on axial and coronal plane with 2 mm slice thickness. RESULTS On CT imaging, the shape of superior 1/4 part of PPF is mainly shown as biconcavity. The maximal posteroanterial (PA)diameter was (6.6+/-2.2)mm. The maximal medialateral diameter (ML)was (13.7+/-3.7)mm. The shape of the middle 1/4 part of PPF was biconvexity with the PA and ML of (6.6+/-2.1)mm and (12.1+/-2.7)mm. The shape of the inferior 1/2 part of PPF just liked a tube with the diameter of (3.8+/-1.7)mm. The foramen rotudum lied (5.2+/-2.3)mm under the inferior orbital fissure. The pterygoid canal lied (7.4+/-2.5)mm medial and (6.2.+/-4.2)mm inferior to the foramen rotudum. CONCLUSION PPF has various shapes on axial and coronal CT images. Based on the distances and the relationship between the foramen and fissures, the normal and abnormal status of PPF can be evaluated.

Abstract
In this study, some different kinds of orthodontic archwires were tested to evaluate the changes of their mechanical properties. The results showed that in oral environment, all wires suffered degradation of their properties:the force-generating capacity decreased and the permanent deformation increased. The force-generating capacity decreased and the permanent deformation increased. The force decay resulted mainly from the tooth movement. The deformation occurred within 7 days.Chinese-NiTi alloy suffered less stress-relaxation and residual deformation than the stainless steel wires.Arch wires with vertical loops showed similar properties with NiTi,which could deliver more constant force.

Abstract
UNLABELLED To study the histopathological change of the liver of the hosts treated with artemether (Art) or praziquantel (Pra) in early stage after infection with Schistosoma japonicum cercariae. METHODS Dogs infected once with schistosome cercariae were treated ig with Art 10 mg.kg-1 or Art capsule (ArtC) 15 mg.kg-1 on d 7, or praziquantel (Pra) 30-40 mg.kg-1 on d 21 after infection, followed by the repeated dosing once every 1 or 2 wk for 2-4 times. In rabbits, infected with 48-52 schistosome cercariae once every other day for 5 times, were treated ig with Art 10 mg.kg-1 or Pra 30 mg.kg-1 was started on d 7 or on d 21 after the first infection, followed by the repeated dosing every 1 or 2 wk for 2-3 times. RESULTS After above mentioned dogs or rabbits were treated ig with Art, ArtC or Pra, the female worm reduction rates were 92.1%-100%. Histopathological examination showed that the reduction rates of total granuloma in the liver sections of the dogs and rabbits were 70.9%-97.3% and 76.5%-97.4%, respectively. Meantime, the structure of the hepatic lobules was normal with normal arrangement of the liver bundle. CONCLUSIONS Early treatment with Art or Pra exhibited a promising effect of protection of the liver of the dogs and rabbits infected with schistosome cercariae. Early treatment of infection with schistosome cercariae kills the Female worms before oviposition. Thus, the host will be protected from the damage caused by schistosome eggs. Promising results were obtained when mice and rabbits received an early treatment with artemether (Art) or praziquantel (Pra). This work was to study the liver infected with cercariae and treated by intragastric gavage (ig) with Art, Art capsule (ArtC) or Pra in early stage after infection.

Abstract
The specific PPD IgG antibodies in serum of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and its reactivity to PPD of Mycobacterium tuberculosis M. bovis and M. avium were detected by ELISA. The results showed that the antibody level and positive rate of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis significantly increased than those of normal subjects. Specific antibody level and its positive rate were higher in hospitalized patients than those treated in clinic and both were higher in sputum positive cases than in sputum negative one. There was cross-reactivity among three different PPD. Absorption black test indicated that M. tuberculosis PPD had good specificity. PPD should be further purified in order to make ELISA as a useful serodiagnostic tool.

Abstract
Mice infected with protoscoleces of Echinococcus granulosus for 8-9 months were treated ig with mebendazole (Meb) 50 mg.kg-1.d-1, albendazole (Alb) 300 mg.kg-1.d-1 or albendazole sulfoxide (AlbSO) 150 mg.kg-1.d-1 for 1-7 d. The glycogen contents of cyst wall in each drug groups were 1.0 +/- 0.6 - 1.8 +/- 0.9 mg/g, 1.1 +/- 0.9 - 1.8 +/- 0.8 mg/g and 0.8 +/- 0.5 - 1.5 +/- 0.9 mg/g, respectively, which were less than those 2.2 +/- 1.3 - 2.8 +/- 1.3 mg/g of corresponding control groups with respective glycogen reduction rates of 38-55%, 36-51% and 46-62%. After prolongation of treatment course to 10-14 d, the glycogen contents of cyst wall in Meb and AlbSO groups were further decreased, which resulted in glycogen reduction rates of 73% and 69%, respectively. No further decrease of glycogen contents in Alb groups was seen as the glycogen reduction rates sustained in 32%. Histochemical observation showed that the glycogen contents in germinal layer of the cysts decreased significantly or even disappeared during the treatment of Meb, Alb or AlbSO. The results suggested that the effects of Meb and AlbSO on mice infected with secondary cysts of E granulosus were superior to Alb as evaluated by glycogen reduction rate of cyst wall.

Abstract
A serological survey of antibodies against Legionella pneumophila (Lp) serotypes in Chengdu area by microagglutination test showed that there were high levels of antibodies against serotypes Lp1 and Lp6 in healthy domestic fowls and animals (rabbits, pigs, chickens, ducks and geese). In rabbits, antibodies against serotypes Lp1-Lp6 were determined, showing positive rates (titer greater than or equal to 1:16) ranging 6.3-23.8%. Among them only the serotype Lp3 did not show any positive one. The highest positive rate was observed in pigs' anti-Lp6 (89.8%), significantly higher than those reported in America, Denmark and Nanjing, China. The results suggested that recessive infections of Legionnaires' Disease Bacterium might occur in domestic fowls and animals. So the epidemiological surveillance of Legionnaires' disease in animals, as well as in environment (water and soil) is of importance for the prevention in man.

Abstract
Airborne fungi are considered as one of the important causes of allergies throughout the world. The climatic conditions of Chengdu are suitable for the breeding of molds. We conducted monthly a quantitative investigation of the airborne fungi at three functional sections of Chengdu city from January to December, 1987. The results indicated that the concentration of fungal spores in the air was high through the year. The range of the concentrations of the airborne fungi was 870.37-7592.59 spores/m3, with two peaks in April and October. The first six dominant airborne fungi were yeast, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Aureobasidium and Non-sporulating. Of Aspergillus flavus strains detected by fluorescence of agar medium under ultraviolet light 33.49% were aflatoxin-producing. The data show that the climatic and environment factors can affect the spread of airborne fungal spores in the air. The results of previous studies and present surveys are compared and the offence of airborne fungi and the significance of this survey are also discussed in this paper.

Abstract
Golden hamsters infected with Necator americanus were treated orally with a new anthilmintic tribendimidin (N, N'-[bis-4'-(1-dimethyl amino ethylidene amino)phenyl] 1,4-phenyene dimethylidyne amine) at a single dose of 150 mg/kg. One h after medication, some worms showed cuticular swelling, fusion of transverse striations and attachment of host leucocytes onto the worm's damaged cuticular surface. Four h post treatment, the cuticle revealed a moderate swelling or even erosion. Meanwhile, the ventral cutting plates appeared to be swollen. After 8-24 h, severe cuticular swelling, erosion and peeling in female worm tails and male copulatory bursa were seen. No increases in lesions in the small intestinal mucosa of infected golden hamsters were observed 4-8 h after medication.
