Abstract
Artificial synapses and bionic neurons offer great potential in highly efficient computing paradigms. However, complex requirements for specific electronic devices in neuromorphic computing have made memristors face the challenge of process simplification and universality. Herein, reconfigurable Ag/HfO2/NiO/Pt memristors are designed for feasible switching between volatile and nonvolatile modes by compliance current controlled Ag filaments, which enables stable and reconfigurable synaptic and neuronal functions. A neuromorphic computing system effectively replicates the biological synaptic weight alteration and continuously accomplishes excitation and reset of artificial neurons, which consist of bionic synapses and artificial neurons based on isotype Ag/HfO2/NiO/Pt memristors. This reconfigurable electrical performance of the Ag/HfO2/NiO/Pt memristors takes advantage of simplified hardware design and delivers integrated circuits with high density, which exhibits great potency for future neural networks.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network in blood exosomes of patients with ovarian cancer (OC) using bioinformatics and explore its pathogenesis. METHODS The exoRbase2.0 database was used to download blood exosome gene sequencing data from patients OC and normal controls and the expression profiles of exosomal mRNA, long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), and circular RNA (circRNA) were detected independently using R language for differential expression analysis. TargetScan and miRanda databases were combined for the prediction and differential expression of mRNA-binding microRNAs (miRNA). The miRcode and starBase databases were used to predict miRNAs that bind to differentially expressed lncRNAs and circRNAs repectively. The relevant mRNA, circRNA, lncRNA and their corresponding miRNA prediction data were imported into Cytoscape software for visualization of the ceRNA network. The R language and KEGG Orthology-based Annotation System (KOBAS) were used to execute and illustrate the Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses. Hub genes were identified using The CytoHubba plugin. RESULTS Thirty-one differentially expressed mRNAs, 17 differentially expressed lncRNAs, and 24 differentially expressed circRNAs were screened. Cytoscape software was used to construct the ceRNA network with nine mRNA nodes, two lncRNA nodes, eight circRNA nodes, and 51 miRNA nodes. Both GO and KEGG were focused on the Spliceosome pathway, indicating that spliceosomes are closely linked with the development of OC, while heterogenous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K and RNA binding motif protein X-linked genes were the top 10 score Hub genes screened by Cytoscape software, including two lncRNAs, four mRNAs, and four circRNAs. In patients with OC, the expression of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 2 (EIF4G2), SERPINE 1 mRNA binding protein 1 (SERBP1), ribosomal protein L15 (RPL15) and human leukocyte antigen complex P5 (HCP5) was significantly higher whereas that of testis expressed transcript, Y-linked 15 and DEAD-box helicase 3 Y-linked genes was lower compared to normal controls Immunocorrelation scores revealed that SERBP1 was significantly and negatively correlated with endothelial cells and CD4+ T cells and positively correlated with natural killer (NK) cells and macrophages, respectively; RPL15 was significantly positively correlated with macrophages and endothelial cells and negatively correlated with CD8+ T cells and uncharacterized cells, respectively. EIF4G2 was significantly and negatively correlated with endothelial cells and CD4+ T cells, and positively correlated with uncharacterized cells, respectively. Based on the survival data and the significant correlation characteristics derived from the multifactorial Cox analysis (P < 0.05), the survival prediction curves demonstrated that the prognostic factors associated with 3-year survival in patients with OC were The prognostic factors associated with survival were Macrophage, RPL15. CONCLUSION This study successfully constructs a ceRNA regulatory network in blood exosomes of OV patients, which provides the specific targets for diagnosis and treatment of OC.

Abstract
Benefiting from the brain-inspired event-driven feature and asynchronous sparse coding approach, spiking neural networks (SNNs) are becoming a potentially energy-efficient replacement for conventional artificial neural networks. However, neuromorphic devices used to construct SNNs persistently result in considerable energy consumption owing to the absence of sufficient biological parallels. Drawing inspiration from the transport nature of Na+ and K+ in synapses, here, a Li-based memristor (LixAlOy) was proposed to emulate the biological synapse, leveraging the similarity of Li as a homologous main group element to Na and K. The Li-based memristor exhibits ∼8 ns ultrafast operating speed, 1.91 and 0.72 linearity conductance modulation, and reproducible switching behavior, enabled by lithium vacancies forming a conductive filament mechanism. Moreover, these memristors are capable of simulating fundamental behaviors of a biological synapse, including long-term potentiation and long-term depression behaviors. Most importantly, a threshold-tunable leaky integrate-and-fire (TT-LIF) neuron is built using LixAlOy memristors, successfully integrating synaptic signals from both temporal and spatial levels and achieving an optimal threshold of SNNs. A computationally efficient TT-LIF-based SNN algorithm is also implemented for image recognition schemes, featuring a high recognition rate of 90.1% and an ultralow firing rate of 0.335%, which is 4 times lower than those of other memristor-based SNNs. Our studies reveal the ion dynamics mechanism of the LixAlOy memristor and confirm its potential in rapid switching and the construction of SNNs.

Abstract
Changes in the structure and function of nailfold capillaries may be indicators of numerous diseases. Noninvasive diagnostic tools are commonly used for the extraction of morphological information from segmented nailfold capillaries to study physiological and pathological changes therein. However, current segmentation methods for nailfold capillaries cannot accurately separate capillaries from the background, resulting in issues such as unclear segmentation boundaries. Therefore, improving the accuracy of nailfold capillary segmentation is necessary to facilitate more efficient clinical diagnosis and research. Herein, we propose a nailfold capillary image segmentation method based on a U2-Net backbone network combined with a Transformer structure. This method integrates the U2-Net and Transformer networks to establish a decoder-encoder network, which inserts Transformer layers into the nested two-layer U-shaped architecture of the U2-Net. This structure effectively extracts multiscale features within stages and aggregates multilevel features across stages to generate high-resolution feature maps. The experimental results demonstrate an overall accuracy of 98.23 %, a Dice coefficient of 88.56 %, and an IoU of 80.41 % compared to the ground truth. Furthermore, our proposed method improves the overall accuracy by approximately 2 %, 3 %, and 5 % compared to the original U2-Net, Res-Unet, and U-Net, respectively. These results indicate that the Transformer-U2Net network performs well in nailfold capillary image segmentation and provides more detailed and accurate information on the segmented nailfold capillary structure, which may aid clinicians in the more precise diagnosis and treatment of nailfold capillary-related diseases.

Abstract
PURPOSE Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are likely to develop sarcopenia, while the exact mechanism underlying the association between sarcopenia and COPD is still not clear. This cohort study aims to explore the genes, signaling pathways, and transcription factors (TFs) that are related to the molecular pathogenesis of sarcopenia and COPD. METHODS According to the strict inclusion criteria, two gene sets (GSE8479 for sarcopenia and GSE76925 for COPD) were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) platform. Overlapping differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in sarcopenia and COPD were detected, and comprehensive bioinformatics analysis was conducted, including functional annotation, enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), construction of a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, co-expression analysis, identification and validation of hub genes, and TFs prediction and verification. RESULTS In total, 118 downregulated and 92 upregulated common DEGs were detected. Functional analysis revealed that potential pathogenesis involves oxidoreductase activity and ferroptosis. Thirty hub genes were detected, and ATP metabolic process and oxidative phosphorylation were identified to be closely related to the hub genes. Validation analysis revealed that SAA1, C3, and ACSS2 were significantly upregulated, whereas ATF4, PPARGC1A, and MCTS1 were markedly downregulated in both sarcopenia and COPD. In addition, six TFs (NFKB1, RELA, IRF7, SP1, MYC, and JUN) were identified to regulate the expression of these genes, and SAA1 was found to be coregulated by NFKB1 and RELA. CONCLUSION This study uncovers potential common mechanisms of COPD complicated by sarcopenia. The hub gene SAA1 and the NF-κB signaling pathway could be involved, and oxidative phosphorylation and ferroptosis might be important contributors to this comorbidity.

Abstract
Cell senescence is an anti-cancer strategy following DNA repair and apoptosis, which is associated with the initiation, progression, and treatment of ovarian cancer. The CDK4/6 inhibitor alters cell cycle and induces cell senescence dependent on retinoblastoma (RB) family proteins. Objective Herein, we aimed to explore the effects of Palbociclib (a CDK4/6 inhibitor) on cellular senescence of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). Cell viability and cell cycle were evaluated by cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry. Cell senescence was analyzed using the SA-β-gal staining assay. The senescence-associated secretory phenotype was assessed using quantitative PCR (qPCR). Senescence-related markers were tested using western blot. The role of Palbociclib in vivo was clarified using xenograft tumor. Acetylation of p53 was evaluated by qPCR and western blot. The results showed that Palbociclib inhibited cell viability, blocked cell cycle at G0/G1 phase, and induced cell senescence. A rescue study indicated that knockdown of p53 reversed the effects on cell cycle and senescence induced by Palbociclib. Moreover, we found that Palbociclib promotes P300-mediated p53 acetylation, thus increasing p53 stability and transcription activity. Moreover, Palbociclib suppressed tumor growth in vivo with increased p53 and acetylated p53 levels. In conclusion, Palbociclib induced cell senescence of HGSOC through P300-mediated p53 acetylation, suggesting that Palbociclib may have the effect of treating HGSOC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the long-term effects of total hysterectomy on urinary function, evaluate the effects of preoperative nutritional status, urinary occult infection, and surgical factors on the induction of postoperative stress urinary incontinence (SUI), and explore the incidence and risk factors of SUI. STUDY DESIGN From January 2017 to December 2017, 164 patients with benign non-prolapsing diseases who underwent a laparoscopic total hysterectomy in the First People's Hospital of Taicang were selected as the analysis objects. The International Incontinence Standard Questionnaire for Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (ICIQ-FLUTS) and Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire-short version 20 (PFDI-20) were used for telephone follow-up to subjectively assess the urinary function of patients, collect their medical records, and statistically analyze the number of postoperative SUI cases. Logistic multivariate analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of postoperative female SUI, presented as adjusted odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS Only 97 out of 164 patients completed the ICIQ-FLUTS and PFDI-20 questionnaires. Among these participants, 28 patients (28.86%) were diagnosed with SUI (study group), while 69 patients (71.13%) were classified as women without SUI (control group). The age, menopause, parity ≥ 2 times, Body mass index (BMI) ≥ 28 kg/m2, neonatal weight ≥ 4000 g, history of chronic cough, preoperative hemoglobin ≤ 100 g/L, preoperative urine bacteria ≥ 100u/L, preoperative uterine volume ≥ 90 cm3, intraoperative blood loss, and operation time of the study group were compared with those of the control group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Further Logistic multivariate analysis showed that menopause, preoperative hemoglobin ≤ 100 g/L, preoperative urine bacteria ≥ 100u/L, uterine volume ≥ 90 cm3, history of chronic cough, BMI ≥ 28 kg/m2 were risk factors for postoperative SUI in patients undergoing hysterectomy (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Hysterectomy for benign non-prolapse diseases has a long-term potential impact on the urinary system of patients, and the risk of postoperative SUI increases. The main risk factors of SUI are parity, menopausal status, obesity, preoperative nutritional status, and occult infection of the urinary system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study assessed the quality distribution of non-mydriatic fundus photographs (NMFPs) in real-world glaucoma screening and analysed its influencing factors. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted in primary healthcare centres in the Yinzhou District, China, from 17 March to 3 December 2021. The quality distribution of bilateral NMFPs was assessed by the Digital Reading Department of the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University. Generalised estimating equations and logistic regression models identified factors affecting image quality. RESULTS A total of 17 232 photographs of 8616 subjects were assessed. Of these, 11.9% of images were reliable for the right eyes, while only 4.6% were reliable for the left eyes; 93.6% of images were readable in the right eyes, while 90.3% were readable in the left eyes. In adjusted models, older age was associated with decreased odds of image readability (adjusted OR (aOR)=1.07, 95% CI 1.06~1.08, p<0.001). A larger absolute value of spherical equivalent significantly decreased the odds of image readability (all p<0.001). Media opacity and worse visual acuity had a significantly lower likelihood of achieving readable NMFPs (aOR=1.52, 95% CI 1.31~1.75; aOR=1.70, 95% CI 1.42~2.02, respectively, all p<0.001). Astigmatism axes within 31°~60° and 121°~150° had lower odds of image readability (aOR=1.35, 95% CI 1.11~1.63, p<0.01) than astigmatism axes within 180°±30°. CONCLUSIONS The image readability of NMFPs in large-scale glaucoma screening for individuals 50 years and older is comparable with relevant studies, but image reliability is unsatisfactory. Addressing the associated factors may be vital when implementing ophthalmological telemedicine in underserviced areas. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER ChiCTR2200059277.

Abstract
Nailfold capillary density is an essential physiological parameter for analyzing nailfold health; however, clinical images of the nailfold are taken in many situations, and most clinicians subjectively analyze nailfold images. Therefore, based on the improved "you only look once v5" (YOLOv5) algorithm, this study proposes an automated method for measuring nailfold capillary density. The improved technique can effectively and rapidly detect distal capillaries by incorporating methods or structures such as 9mosaic, spatial pyramid pooling cross-stage partial construction, bilinear interpolation, and efficient intersection over union. First, the modified YOLOv5 algorithm was used to detect nailfold capillaries. Subsequently, the number of distal capillaries was filtered using the 90° method. Finally, the capillary density was calculated. The results showed that the Average Precision (AP)@0.5 value of the proposed approach reached 85.2 %, which was an improvement of 4.93 %, 5.24 %, and 107 % compared with the original YOLOv5, YOLOv6, and simple-faster rapid-region convolutional network (R-CNN), respectively. For different nailfold images, using the density calculated by nailfold experts as a benchmark, the calculated results of the proposed method were consistent with the manually calculated results and superior to those of the original YOLOv5.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the short-term efficacy of perioperative fecal microbiota transplantation combined with nutritional support in patients with radiation-induced enteritis complicated by intestinal obstruction. Methods: The cohort of this prospective cohort study comprised 45 patients (nine men and 36 women) with radiation-induced enteritis complicated by intestinal obstruction admitted to Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University from January 2022 to October 2022. The median age was 53 (42-65) years. Thirty-five of the patients had gynecological tumors and 10 colorectal malignancies. The patients were randomly allocated to a fecal microbiota transplantation group of 20 patients who underwent fecal microbiota transplantation starting 2 weeks before surgery for 6 days, in addition to receiving conventional perioperative treatment, and a conventional treatment group of 25 patients who only received nutritional support during the perioperative period. There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics (sex, age, preoperative nutritional indices, and surgical procedure) between the two groups (all P>0.05). Postoperative recovery (time to passing flatus or a bowel movement, length of stay) and complications were compared between the two groups. Postoperative complications within 30 days after surgery classified in accordance with the international Clavien-Dindo classification of surgical complications (I-V) were statistically analyzed. Improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms, namely abdominal pain, distension, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding) and gastrointestinal quality of life scores (which include 36 problems rated 0-144 points related to physical, psychological, social activities and family life; the lower the score, the more severe the symptoms) were compared between the two groups. Nutritional recovery was assessed by body mass, body mass index, total protein, albumin, prealbumin, and hemoglobin. Results: Compared with the conventional treatment group, the postoperative hospital stay was shorter in the fecal microbiota transplantation group (8.0±4.3 days vs. 11.2±5.4 days, t=2.157, P=0.037) and the time to passage of flatus or having a bowel movement was earlier (2.2±3.2 days vs. 3.9±2.3 days, t=2.072, P=0.044). There were 26 postoperative complications in the fecal microbiota transplantation group and 59 in the conventional treatment group. There were 20 and 36 Grade I to II complications and no and three Grade III to V complications in the transplantation and conventional treatment group, respectively. The overall grade of complication did not differ significantly between the two groups (P=0.544). However, the incidence of postoperative intestinal inflammatory obstruction was lower in the fecal microbiota transplantation than the conventional treatment group (10.0% [2/20] vs. 40.0% [10/25], P=0.040). One patient in the conventional treatment group died. This patient had complete intestinal obstruction complicated by severe malnutrition preoperatively, and an intestinal fistula complicated by abdominal infection postoperatively, and died despite active treatment. Nineteen and 23 patients in the transplantation and conventional treatment group, respectively, attended for follow-up 1 month after surgery; 19 and 21, respectively, attended for follow-up 3 months after surgery, and 17 and 20, respectively, attended for follow-up 6 months after surgery. There were no significant differences between the two groups in abdominal pain or rectal bleeding 1, 3, or 6 months after surgery (all P>0.05). One month after surgery, the incidence of abdominal distension and diarrhea was lower in the fecal microbiota transplantation than in the conventional treatment group (3/19 vs. 48.0% [11/23], P=0.048; 3/19 vs. 52.2% [12/23], P=0.023). However, at the 3 and 6 month follow-ups the incidence of abdominal distension and diarrhea had gradually decreased in both groups and the differences between the groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05 for all). Scores for gastrointestinal quality of life improved significantly in both treatment groups compared with preoperative values (F=71.250, P<0.001; F=79.130, P<0.001, respectively). Scores for gastrointestinal quality of life were higher in the fecal microbiota transplantation than the conventional treatment group at all follow-up time points (P<0.05). One-way ANOVA showed that body mass, body mass index, and total protein, albumin and hemoglobin concentrations improved in both groups compared with preoperative values (all P<0.05). Prealbumin concentration improved significantly in the transplantation (F=5.514, P=0.002), but not in the conventional, group (F=1.535, P=0.211). The improvements in body mass, body mass index, total protein, and albumin were better in the fecal microbiota transplantation than conventional treatment group at 3 and 6 months of follow-up (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Perioperative fecal microbiota transplantation combined with nutritional support is effective in improving early postoperative nutritional status and quality of life in patients with radiation-induced enteritis complicated by intestinal obstruction.

Abstract
The symptomatic management of hemorrhagic shock complicated by open fractures is a great challenge, because it is also complicated by complex wound bleeding, bacterial infection, and bone defects. Inspired by the water absorption and cross-sectional microstructure of sea cucumbers, in this study, a new sea cucumber-like aerogel (GCG) is proposed. Its aligned porous structure and composition can stop bleeding rapidly and effectively with a blood clotting index of 3.73 ± 1.8%. More importantly, the data of in vivo hemostasis test in an amputating rat tail hemostatic model (15.69 ± 2.45 s, 26.95 ± 8.43 mg) and liver puncture bleeding model (23.77 ± 2.68 s, 36.22 ± 16.92 mg) also indicate the excellent hemostatic performance of GCG. In addition, GCG also shows a significant inhibitory effect on S. aureus and E. coli, which can prevent the occurrence of postoperative osteomyelitis. Not only that, after filling in the bone defect, it is shown that this GCG aerogel completely degrades eight weeks after surgery and induces new bone ingrowth, achieving functional regeneration after hemostasis of an open fracture defect. Generally, because of its combination of hemostatic, antibacterial, and osteogenic activities, this new aerogel is a promising option for open fractures treatment.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a serious disease characterized by high androgen, insulin resistance (IR), hyperglycemia, and obesity, leading to infertility. The gut mycobiota has been reported to evolve in metabolic diseases including obesity, hyperglycemia, and fatty liver. However, little is known about the gut mycobiota and PCOS. In the current study, we recruited 17 PCOS patients and 17 age-matched healthy controls for community structure and functional analysis of the gut mycobiota. The results showed that PCOS patients have reduced diversity and richness of the gut microbiota compared with healthy controls. β-Diversity analysis showed that the community structure of the gut microbiota of patients with PCOS was significantly different from healthy controls. At the phylum level, PCOS patients have reduced Basidiomycota and increased Ascomycota compared with healthy controls. At the family level, the higher relative abundance of Saccharomycetaceae and lower Trichosporonaceae and Ascomycota_unclassified were detected in PCOS patients than in healthy controls. At the genus level, different microbial compositions were also observed between PCOS patients and healthy controls. In addition, PICRUSt2 showed that patients with PCOS have different microbial functions in the gut compared with healthy controls. LEfSe indicated that Saccharomyces and Lentinula were enriched in the fecal samples of PCOS patients, while Aspergillus was depleted compared with healthy controls. Our finding indicates that PCOS patients have different community structures and functions of the gut mycobiota, which provides new insight into PCOS pathogenesis and intervention. IMPORTANCE It was found that intestinal fungi as well as serum metabolites in PCOS patients were significantly different from those in healthy subjects. However, no studies have been done to show exactly which fungus interacts with which bacteria in humans or which fungus acts alone. As fungal research progresses, it will be possible to fill this gap.

Abstract
A person's present mental state is closely associated with the frequency and temporal domain features of spontaneous electroencephalogram (EEG) impulses, which directly reflect neurophysiological signals of brain activity. EEG signals are employed in this study to measure the mental workload of drivers while they are operating a vehicle. A technique based on the quantum genetic algorithm (QGA) is suggested for improving the kernel function parameters of the multi-class support vector machine (MSVM). The performance of the algorithm based on the quantum genetic algorithm is found to be superior to that of other ways when other methods and the quantum genetic algorithm are evaluated for the parameter optimization of kernel function via simulation. A multi-classification support vector machine based on the quantum genetic algorithm (QGA-MSVM) is applied to identify the mental workload of oceanauts through the collection and feature extraction of EEG signals during driving simulation operation experiments in a sea basin area, a seamount area, and a hydrothermal area. Even with a limited data set, QGA-MSVM is able to accurately identify the cognitive burden experienced by ocean sailors, with an overall accuracy of 91.8%.

Abstract
PRCIS Faster hemispheric mVD loss was found in the affected hemifield of POAG patients without significant changes in hemispheric thickness. The progression of mVD loss was associated with the severity of VF damage. PURPOSE To evaluate the changes in macular vessel density (mVD) loss in primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) patients with visual field (VF) defects confined to 1 hemifield. MATERIALS AND METHODS This longitudinal cohort study used linear mixed models to evaluate the changes in the hemispheric mean total deviation (mTD), mVD, macular ganglion cell complex, macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer, and retinal nerve fiber layer between affected hemifields, unaffected hemifields, and healthy controls. RESULTS Twenty-nine POAG eyes and 25 healthy eyes were followed for an average of 29 months. In POAG eyes, the rates of decline in hemispheric mTD and hemispheric mVD in the affected hemifields were significantly faster than those in the unaffected hemifields (-0.42±1.24 vs. 0.02±0.69 dB/year, P =0.018 and -2.16±1.01 vs. -1.77±0.90% / year, P =0.031, respectively). There were no differences in the rate of hemispheric thickness change between the 2 hemifields. The rate of hemispheric mVD decline in both hemifields of POAG eyes was significantly faster than that of the healthy controls (All P <0.05). An association between the reduced mTD of the VF and the rate of hemispheric mVD loss in the affected hemifield was observed (r=0.484, P =0.008). Faster rates of mVD loss (β=-1.72±0.80, P =0.050) were significantly related to reduced hemispheric mTD in the multivariate analysis. CONCLUSIONS Faster hemispheric mVD loss was found in the affected hemifield of POAG patients without significant changes in hemispheric thickness. The progression of mVD loss was associated with the severity of VF damage.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to compare the patterns of visual field (VF) defects in primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) to control groups of eyes with high-tension glaucoma (HTG) and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). METHODS Forty-eight eyes with PACG were enrolled, and control eyes with HTG and NTG matched for age, sex, and mean deviation of VF defect were selected. VF tests were performed using the 24-2 program of the Humphrey field analyzer. VF defects were classified into six patterns with the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study classification system and were categorized into three stages (early, moderate, and advanced). Each hemifield was divided into five regions according to the Glaucoma Hemifield Test (GHT). The mean total deviation (TD) of each GHT region was calculated. RESULTS Compared with HTG and NTG groups, the partial arcuate VF defects were more common in the PACG group. In the PACG group, the nasal GHT region in the inferior hemifield had the worst mean TD (-8.48 ± 8.62 dB), followed by the arcuate 1 (-7.81 ± 7.91 dB), arcuate 2 (-7.46 ± 7.43 dB), paracentral (-7.19 ± 7.98 dB), and central (-5.14 ± 6.24 dB) regions; the mean TD of the central region was significantly better than those for all other regions (all p < 0.05). A similar trend was observed in the superior hemifield in the PACG group but not the VF hemifields of the HTG and NTG groups. CONCLUSION Patterns of VF defect in PACG patients differ from those with HTG and NTG. This discrepancy might be due to the differences in the pathogenic mechanisms of glaucomatous optic neuropathy.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) are able to interact with diverse contaminants in sediments. However, the impacts of MPs on sediment properties and bacterial community structure in heavy metal-contaminated sediments remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the adsorption of Pb(II) by sediment-MPs mixtures and the effects of different concentration MPs on sediment enzyme activities, DOM fractions, and Pb bioavailability in riverine sediments, and further explored the response of sediment microbial community to Pb in the presence of MPs. The results indicated that the addition of MPs significantly decreased the adsorption amount of Pb(II) by sediments, especially decreased by 12.6% at 10% MPs treatment. Besides, the changes in enzyme activities, DOM fractions exhibited dose-dependent effects of MPs. The higher level of MPs (5% and 10%) tends to transform Pb into more bioavailable fractions in sediments. Also, MPs amendment was observed to alter sediment bacterial community structures, and community differences were evident in the uncontaminated and lead-contaminated sediments. Therein, significant increase of Bacteroidota, Proteobacteria and decrease of Firmicutes abundance in Pb-contaminated sediment at the phylum level were observed. These findings are expected to provide comprehensive information for assessing the combined ecological risks of heavy metals and MPs in riverine sediments.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Endometritis is the inflammatory condition of the uterus. Citral, a component of lemongrass oil, is known to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity. AIM The effects of citral on LPS-induced endometritis were tested and the mechanisms were investigated. METHODS LPS-induced endometritis mice model was established and the effects of citral were detected using this model. Inflammatory cytokines were tested by ELISA. Ferroptosis was assessed by detecting GSH, ATP, MDA, and Fe2+ levels. Signaling pathway was tested by western blot analysis. RESULTS Citral prevented LPS-induced endometritis through attenuating uterine pathological changes and inflammatory cytokine release. Meanwhile, citral prevents LPS-induced ferroptosis through attenuating MDA and Fe2+ levels, as well as increasing ATP and GSH levels. Furthermore, citral up-regulated Nrf2 and HO-1 expression and attenuated NF-κB activation. In addition, in Nrf2 knockdown mice, the inhibitory roles of citral on ferroptosis and endometritis were largely reversed. CONCLUSION Taken together, citral inhibited LPS-induced endometritis through preventing ferroptosis, which were regulated by Nrf2 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Endometritis, a common gynecological disease, is the most common cause of infertility. As a natural metabolite of gut microbiota, deoxycholic acid (DCA) has been reported to have anti-inflammatory function. In the current study, the protective role of DCA on Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus)-induced endometritis was tested. In vivo, DCA inhibited uterine histological change, MPO activity, endometrial barrier disruption, and inflammatory cytokine production induced by S.aureus. In vitro, DCA suppressed S.aureus-induced TNF-α and IL-1ß production in mouse endometrial epithelial cells (mEECs). Also, DCA markedly suppressed S.aureus-induced NF-κB activation. Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5 (TGR5)is a critical bile acid membranereceptor that mainly regulated the cyclic AMP (cAMP)/protein kinase A (PKA)signaling pathway to inhibit NF-κB activation. We found DCA significantly increased TGR5 and PKA expression and S.aureus-induced inflammatory cytokine production and NF-κB activation were prevented by TGR5 inhibitor and PKA inhibitor. In conclusion, DCA protected S.aureus-induced endometritis by regulating TGR5/PKA/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is an intractable infection of the cornea. Penetrating keratoplasty is widely used for the management of severe AK but suffers from complications like graft rejection, endophthalmitis, and glaucoma. Herein, we aimed to describe the surgical technique and the results of elliptical deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (eDALK) for the management of severe AK. In this retrospective case series, records of consecutive patients with AK poorly responsive to medical treatment who underwent eDALK from January 2012 to May 2020 were reviewed. The largest diameter of infiltration was ≥8 mm and did not involve the endothelium. The recipient bed was made by an elliptical trephine, and big bubble or wet-peeling technique was performed. Postoperative best spectacle-corrected visual acuity, endothelial cell density, corneal topographic data, and complications were evaluated. Thirteen eyes of thirteen patients (eight men and five women, 45.54 ± 11.78 years old) were included in this study. The mean follow-up interval was 21.31 ± 19.59 months (range, 12-82 months). At the last follow-up, the mean best spectacle-corrected visual acuity was 0.35 ± 0.27 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution. The mean refractive and topographic astigmatism were - 3.21 ± 1.77 and 3.08 ± 1.14 D, respectively. Intraoperative perforation was encountered in one case and double anterior chambers occurred in two cases. One graft developed stromal rejection and one eye developed amoebic recurrence. eDALK can serve as the first-line surgical management of severe AK poorly responsive to medical treatment.

Abstract
With the booming growth of artificial intelligence (AI), the traditional von Neumann computing architecture based on complementary metal oxide semiconductor devices are facing memory wall and power wall. Memristor based in-memory computing can potentially overcome the current bottleneck of computer and achieve hardware breakthrough. In this review, the recent progress of memory devices in material and structure design, device performance and applications are summarized. Various resistive switching materials, including electrodes, binary oxides, perovskites, organics, and two-dimensional materials, are presented and their role in the memristor are discussed. Subsequently, the construction of shaped electrodes, the design of functional layer and other factors influencing the device performance are analyzed. We focus on the modulation of the resistances and the effective methods to enhance the performance. Furthermore, synaptic plasticity, optical-electrical properties, the fashionable applications in logic operation and analog calculation are introduced. Finally, some critical issues such as the resistive switching mechanism, multi-sensory fusion, system-level optimization are discussed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the genetic diversity and genetic differentiation of different geographical isolates of Gohieria fusca. METHODS G. fusca isolates were sampled from Wuhu (WH), Bengbu (BB) and Bozhou cities (BZ) of Anhui Province and Jiaxing City of Zhejiang Province (JX). Mitochondrial cytochrome b (Cytb) and ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) genes were amplified in WH, BB, BZ and JX isolates of G. fusca using PCR assay. The gene sequences were edited and aligned using the software Chromas 2 and DNASTAR 1.00, and the haplotype, haplotype diversity (Hd) and nucleotide polymorphism (Pi) of each isolate were calculated using the software DnaSP 5.10.00. The genetic differentiation among isolates (Fst) and gene flow value (Nm) were estimated using the software MEGA 10.2, and a phylogenetic tree was built. Tests of neutrality and analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) were performed using the software Arlequin 3.1 and a haplotype network was built based on the Median-Joining network using the software Network 10.2. RESULTS PCR assay showed that the sizes of the Cytb and ITS genes were 372 bp and 1 301 to 1 320 bp, respectively. All four isolates of G. fusca presented high genetic diversity based on mitochondrial Cytb and ITS genes (Hd = 0.804, Pi = 0.006 91). AMOVA showed genetic differentiation among geographical isolates of G. fusca (Fst = 0.202 40, P < 0.05), and the genetic variation was mainly caused by intra-population variations (79.76%). Gene flow analysis showed a high level of gene flow among G. fusca isolates (Nm > 1). Tests of neutrality based on Cytb gene measured a Tajima's D value of -1.796 31 (P < 0.05) and a Fu's FS value of -3.293 98 (P < 0.05) in WH isolate of G. fusca, indicating population expansion in WH isolate of G. fusca. Haplotype network analysis and phylogenetic analysis revealed no remarkable geographical distribution pattern among different geographical isolates of G. fusca. All four isolates of G. fusca presented high genetic diversity (Hd = 0.985, Pi = 0.011 97). AMOVA showed moderate level of genetic differentiation between four isolates (Fst = 0.104 62, P < 0.05). The tests of neutrality based on ITS genes measured a Tajima's D value of -6.088 20 and a Fu's FS value of -1.935 99 (both P > 0.05) in the whole isolate of G. fusca, indicating no obviously population expansion. CONCLUSIONS The four geographical isolates of G. fusca have high genetic diversity and remarkable genetic differentiation. Since a high level of gene flow is detected among different geographical isolates of G. fusca, no obvious geographical distribution pattern of G. fusca is found.

Abstract
There is an increased risk of malignancies in patients with many systemic rheumatic diseases, which negatively impact on their quality of life. The risk and types of malignancies can differ by the type of rheumatic diseases. Possible mechanisms linking them are dynamic and complicated, including chronic inflammation and damage in rheumatic disease, inability to clear oncogenic infections, shared etiology and some anti-rheumatic therapies. Although certain disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) have been proved to be potentially carcinogenic, the majority of them were not associated with increased risk of most malignancies in patients with systemic rheumatic diseases.

Abstract
OPINION STATEMENT Cancer patients who receive high-dose thoracic radiotherapy may develop radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD). The clinical presentation of RIHD comprises coronary artery atherosclerosis, valvular disease, pericarditis, cardiomyopathy, and conduction defects. These complications have significantly reduced due to the improved radiotherapy techniques. However, such methods still could not avoid heart radiation exposure. Furthermore, people who received relatively low-dose radiation exposures have exhibited significantly elevated RIHD risks in cohort studies of atomic bomb survivors and occupational exposures. The increased potential in exposure to natural and artificial ionizing radiation sources has emphasized the necessity to understand the development of RIHD. The pathological processes of RIHD include endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, fibrosis, and hypertrophy. The underlying mechanisms may involve the changes in oxidative stress, DNA damage response, telomere erosion, mitochondrial dysfunction, epigenetic regulation, circulation factors, protein post-translational modification, and metabolites. This review will discuss the recent advances in the mechanisms of RIHD at cellular and molecular levels.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine diseases in women of childbearing age that leads to menstrual disorders and infertility. The pathogenesis of PCOS is complex and has not yet been fully clarified. Gut microbiota is associated with disorders of lipid, glucose, and steroid hormone metabolish. A large body of studies demonstrated that gut microbiota could regulate the synthesis and secretion of insulin, and affect androgen metabolism and follicle development, providing us a novel idea for unravelling the pathogenesis of PCOS. The relationship between gut microbiota and the pathogenesis of PCOS is particularly important. This study reviewed recent research advances in the roles of gut microbiota in the occurrence and development of PCOS. It is expected to provide a new direction for the treatment of PCOS based on gut microbiota.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore the association between constitution types as defined by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and risk for normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). DESIGN Population-based cohort study. METHODS Persons were identified in a population cohort aged ≥30 years with NTG, defined as having an untreated mean intraocular pressure measurement ≤21 mm Hg over six separate occasions, with no single reading >24 mm Hg (as in the Collaborative Normal Tension Glaucoma Study). The Body Constitution in Traditional Chinese Medicine Questionnaire was used to assess each participant's TCM constitution types. The association between various constitutions and visual field progression according to Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial criteria was assessed using Cox regression HR models. RESULTS Among 142 participants (245 eyes), 23 persons (17.6%) and 25 eyes (10.2%) progressed, over a mean (SD) follow-up duration of 3.49 (0.99) years. Progression rates were highest in participants with Yang-deficient constitution (n=19, 13.4%), among whom 7 (36.8%) exhibited worsening fields. After adjusting for sex, age, central corneal thickness, retinal nerve fibre layer thickness and mean deviation on visual field testing, Yang-deficient constitution (HR 4.63, 95% CI 1.77 to 12.1, p=0.002) and higher mean intraocular pressure during follow-up (HR 1.25, 95% CI 1.01 to 1.56, p=0.044) were associated with field progression. CONCLUSIONS Yang-deficient constitution and higher intraocular pressure are risk factors for visual field progression in NTG patients. Yang deficiency is characterised by abnormal vasoregulation, and these results may be consistent with prior studies linking NTG progression to Raynaud's phenomenon and migraine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The main barriers keeping individuals with high-risk of angle closure from seeking eye-care service are the absence of both disease awareness and convenient and low-cost access to the ocular health care system. Present study described the efficacy of a health examination center-based screening model designed to detect eyes with high risk of angle closure (HRAC) among healthy individuals using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). METHODS From March 1 to April 30, 2017, consecutive individuals aged ≥ 40 years undergoing routine physical examinations at a health examination center were invited to enroll. Presenting visual acuity (PVA), intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement, non-mydriatic fundus photography and AS-OCT were performed by three trained nurses. Participants with PVA < 6/12 in the better-seeing eye, IOP ≥ 24 mmHg, or abnormal fundus photography in either eye were referred to the outpatient clinic, but not included in the analysis. Eyes with HRAC were defined as having trabecular-iris angle < 12 degrees in ≥ 3 quadrants. Configuration of the iris was classified into flat, bowing, bombe, thick peripheral iris and mixed mechanism. RESULTS Altogether, 991 participants (77.3%) with readable OCT images (mean age 55.5 ± 9.0 years; 58.4% men) were included. HRAC was diagnosed in 78 eyes (7.9%, 61.3 ± 8.2 years, 41.0% men). The prevalence of HRAC increased with age (p < 0.001) and was much higher among women (11.2%) than men (5.5%) (p = 0.001). The mixed mechanism iris configuration was most common among eyes with HRAC (37/78, 47.4%). CONCLUSION HRAC is prevalent among asymptomatic Chinese adults undergoing routine health screening. Health examination center-based eye screening with AS-OCT administered by non-specialists may be a good model to screen narrow angles in the population at large.

Abstract
Endometritis is a common reproductive disease occurs both in human and animals. Clostridium butyricum is a Gram-positive anaerobic bacterium that can ferment various carbohydrates into butyric acid. In this study, we investigated the effects of C. butyricum on Escherichia coli-induced endometritis and clarified the underlying mechanism. We first verified the protective effect of C. butyricum in vivo by establishing a mouse model of E. coli-induced endometritis. It was determined that C. butyricum pretreatment significantly reversed E. coli-induced uterine histopathological changes. Meanwhile, C. butyricum pretreatment significantly decreased the production of pro-inflammatory mediators and the levels of myeloperoxidase (MPO) and malondialdehyde (MDA). We found that C. butyricum could inhibit TLR4-mediated phosphorylation of NF-κB and the activity of histone deacetylase (HDAC). Furthermore, C. butyricum significantly increased the expression of the tight junction proteins (TJPs) ZO-1, claudin-3, and occludin. Additionally, treatment with C. butyricum culture supernatant dramatically suppressed the degree of inflammation in the uterus, and inactivated C. butyricum did not exert a protective effect. We subsequently investigated butyrate levels in both the uterus and blood and observed a marked augment in the C. butyricum treatment group. Collectively, our data suggest that C. butyricum maintains epithelial barrier function and suppresses inflammatory response during E. coli-induced endometritis and that the protective effect of C. butyricum may be related to the production of butyrate. IMPORTANCE Endometritis is a common reproductive disease both in human and animals. It impairs female fertility by disrupting endometrial function. Antibiotics are widely used to treat endometritis in clinical practice, but the misuse of antibiotics often leads to antibiotic resistance. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new therapeutic agents to treat bacterial endometritis and overcome bacterial resistance. In this study, we found that C. butyricum could protect from E. coli-induced endometritis.

Abstract
Chicoric acid (CA), a natural phenolic acid extracted from Mediterranean vegetable chicory, has anti-oxidative effect. We aimed to investigate the effects of CA on endometritis and clarify the underlying mechanism. C57BL/6 mice were divided into five groups: control group, LPS group, and LPS + CA groups. All mice except control group were infused of LPS into the uterus. The mice of LPS + CA groups were intraperitoneally injected CA 1 h before LPS challenge. CA significantly alleviatedLPS-induced pathological damage, MPO activity, and inflammatory cytokine production. CA significantly suppressed ferroptosis in LPS-induced endometritis. CA also attenuated LPS-induced NF-κB activation. Furthermore, Nrf2 and HO-1 expression were increased by CA. Moreover, the inhibition of CA on LPS-induced endometritis and ferroptosis were markedly prevented in Nrf2 knockdown mice. In conclusion, the results suggested CA protected mice against LPS-induced endometritisthrough inhibiting ferroptosis via Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Thoracoscopic left atrial appendage clipping as a new strategy for stroke prevention. This study was established to observe the changes in myocardial injury and coagulation during the perioperative to provide the basis for anticoagulation strategy. METHODS Fifty-two patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation who completed thoracoscopic left atrial appendage clipping alone and 52 matched controls with thoracoscopic lobectomy were included in the study. The changes in coagulation and myocardial enzyme during the perioperative period were compared by t-test or nonparametric test. Linear correlation analysis was performed on the trend changes of each indicator in the left atrial appendage clipping group. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the postoperative cardiac troponin I level in the thoracoscopic left atrial appendage clip group was significantly higher than that before the operation; there was no significant difference in the increase of myoglobin between the two groups. In the coagulation function, there was no significant difference in the increase of fibrinogen between the two groups. Postoperative D-dimer and fibrin degradation products were significantly increased, especially the left atrial appendage clip group was significantly higher than the control group, and even showed a trend of secondary increase. Cardiac troponin I was positively correlated with C-reactive protein, fibrinogen and von Willebrand Factor activity, and the Spearman nonparametric correlation coefficients were 1, 0.829, and 0.829, respectively (all p < .05). CONCLUSION Thoracoscopic left atrial appendage closure surgery presents early myocardial injury and activation of coagulation function. The secondary increase of coagulation index needs our attention.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to establish a novel and reversible experimental ocular hypertension primate model by blocking Schlemm's canal. METHODS A model was induced in adult cynomolgus monkeys (n = 4) by blocking Schlemm's canal with an inserted microcatheter (200 μm diameter); it was removed 6 weeks later from one monkey to reverse the elevated intraocular hypertension. All animals were monitored for 11 months; weekly measurements of intraocular pressure and biweekly examinations with spectral domain optical coherence tomography and disc photography were performed. Histopathology of the eye and retinal ganglion cell counts were completed at the end of the study. RESULTS The intraocular pressure of the blocked eyes was significantly higher than that of the contralateral eyes at 1 month after the blockage (p < 0.001); the mean intraocular pressure was similar to the contralateral eye from 1 week to 11 months after the microcatheter was removed in monkey A (p = 0.170). The mean intraocular pressure of the blocked eyes of the remaining monkeys was significantly higher than that of the contralateral eyes throughout the follow-up period (p < 0.001). The fundus imaging showed decreases in the retinal nerve fibre layer thickness, and localized defects were observed in two blocked eyes. A histological examination demonstrated that the number of retinal ganglion cells in the blocked eyes of monkeys A, B, and C was significantly decreased compared with the control. CONCLUSION Schlemm's canal blockage alone in the monkey model produces sustained elevation of intraocular pressure, which presents a novel animal model for studying the pathogenesis of glaucoma.

Abstract
Background: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon endocrine malignancy associated with poor clinical outcome. As a novel form of cell death, ferroptosis is reliant on the accumulation of iron and reactive oxygen species and is involved in the pathogenesis of various tumors, including ACC. Our study aimed to identify and characterize the prognostic ferroptosis-related lncRNA signature (FerRLSig) in ACC.Methods: A regulatory network of ferroptosis-related lncRNAs (FerRLs) and mRNAs was constructed based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression assays were performed to construct the FerRLSig.Results: Twenty-four FerRLs were identified in the prognostic model, and the high-risk FerRLSig was related to the worse overall survival (OS) in ACC [hazard ratio (HR): 1.936 (1.484–2.526), p < 0.001]. The area under the curve (AUC) value of the FerRLSig was 0.936 according to the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses, superior to other traditional clinicopathological features, further supported the utility in prognosis prediction of ACC. We further established a prognostic nomogram combining clinical factors with the FerRLSig, which showed favorable efficacy for survival prediction. Next, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) revealed that gene sets were involved in many immune regulatory biological processes related to malignancies. T-cell function of type II INF response and the immune checkpoints, including CD40, CD276, IDO2, NRP1, and CD80, were expressed with a significant difference between the low- and high-risk groups.Conclusion: This study offered new insights into the pathogenesis of ACC. The novel FerRLSig could be useful in predicting survival and may provide information of immunological research and treatment for ACC patients.

Abstract
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease inextricably linked to both the innate and acquired immune systems of the body. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by immune system dysfunction. Although recent studies suggest that a clinical relationship exists between PD and periodontitis, the pathogenesis of this relationship is unclear. Therefore, in the present study, we obtained datasets of periodontitis and PD from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and extracted 785 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 15 common upregulated genes and four common downregulated genes. We performed enrichment analyses of these DEGs using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses. We found that the genes were mainly enriched in keratinocyte differentiation, neuronal cell bodies, and structural constituents of epidermis terms, and pathways such as immune response and synaptic pathways. In addition, we screened matching hub genes by constructing a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network map and a Molecular Complex Detection (MCODE) map using the Cytoscape software. The hub genes were then subjected to GO enrichment analysis, which revealed that the dopamine biosynthetic process, dopaminergic synapse and dopamine-binding terms, and dopaminergic synapse and serotonergic synapse pathways were primarily where they were expressed. Finally, we selected four of these genes for validation in the periodontitis and PD datasets, and we confirmed that these hub genes were highly sensitive and specific for diagnosing and monitoring PD and periodontitis. In conclusion, the above experimental results indicate that periodontitis is a high-risk factor for PD, and the association between these two conditions is mainly manifested in immune and dopamine-related pathways. Hub genes, such as the CDSN, TH, DDC, and SLC6A3 genes, may serve as potential biomarkers for diagnosing or detecting PD.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) is a high-risk factor for ischaemic stroke. The 2016 European Society of Cardiology Atrial Fibrillation Management guidelines recommend oral anticoagulants (OACs) to prevent stroke in men with CHA2DS2-VASc scores ≥2 and women ≥3. However, in patients with a high risk of stroke and a high risk of bleeding (HAS-BLED (Hypertension, Abnormal renal/liver function, Stroke, Bleeding history or predisposition, Labile international normalized ratio, Elderly (> 65 years), Drugs/alcohol concomitantly) score≥3), OAC had a higher risk of bleeding. Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is non-inferior to OAC as a means of preventing stroke in several studies. As a minimally invasive intervention to prevent stroke, transthoracic LAAC (TS-LAAC) has a high successful closure rate, but there is a lack of literature reports directly comparing it with OAC. Our research compares TS-LAAC with novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and provides an appropriate programme for stroke prevention in a specific population. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This is a non-randomised controlled trial study protocol, and we will conduct this study from April 2022 to April 2025. The study included 186 patients with confirmed NVAF, 93 of whom completed thoracoscopic LAAC, and the control group treated with NOACs. The primary outcome was the incidence of stroke and systemic embolism, as well as the composite endpoint events (stroke, systemic embolism, myocardial infarction, bleeding, cardiovascular death, etc). Secondary outcomes were ischaemic stroke, haemorrhagic stroke, any bleeding events, death from cardiovascular causes, death from all causes, residual root rate in the surgery group, device-related thrombosis in the surgery group, changes in blood pressure, cardiac chamber size changes, etc. Each subject completed at least 1 year of follow-up. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The study has been approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, China (approval number: KY2022-013-02). The results from this study will be disseminated through manuscript publications and national/international conferences. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER ChiCTR2200058109.

Abstract
Panax notoginseng round spot disease (PRSD), caused by Mycocentrospora acerina, is the main leaf disease occurring in cultured P. notoginseng. Aiming to find a safe and efficient control method for PRSD, we studied the disease characteristics of PRSD and the optimal growth conditions of M. acerina and evaluated the efficacy of rain-shelter cultivation in PRSD control. Moreover, we described M. acerina based on morphological characterization and molecular analyses (ITS, ACT, LSU, and TEF-1α). The optimum temperature for M. acerina conidial germination was found to be 14 to 22°C. Furthermore, leaf surface wetness for at least 4 h is required for conidial germination, and conidia can successfully infect P. notoginseng when the leaf wetness lasts for more than 8 h. Additionally, rainwater splashing determines the conidial transfection distance, which is less than 2 m. Finally, our study revealed that rain-shelter cultivation is an effective and simple physical prevention strategy to control PRSD, with an average efficacy of up to 100%.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in the treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods: A longitudinal study was conducted. Clinical data from ASD patients with gastrointestinal symptoms and who underwent FMT in the Tenth People's Hospital affiliated to Tongji University or Jinling Hospital between May 2012 to May 2021 were retrospectively collected. Scores derived from the autism behavior checklist (ABC), the childhood autism rating scale (CARS), the Bristol stool form scale (BSFS), and the gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS) were analyzed at baseline and at the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th month after FMT. Records of any adverse reactions were collected. Generalized estimating equations were used for analysis of data on time points before and after FMT. Results: A total of 328 patients met the inclusion criteria for this study. Their mean age was 6.1±3.4 years old. The cohort included 271 boys and 57 girls. The percentage of patients remaining in the study for post-treatment follow-up at the 1st, 3rd, 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th month were as follows: 303 (92.4%), 284 (86.7%), 213 (64.9%), 190 (57.9%), 143 (43.6%), 79 (24.1%), 46 (14.0%), 31 (9.5%). After FMT, the average ABC score was significantly improved in the first 36 months and remained improved at the 48th month. However, the average score was not significantly different from baseline by the 60th month (1st-36th month, P<0.001; 48th month, P=0.008; 60th month, P=0.108). The average CARS score improved significantly during the first 48 months and remained improved at the 60th month (1st-48th month, P<0.001; 60th month, P=0.010). The average BSFS score was also significantly improved in the first 36 months (with an accompanying stool morphology that resembled type 4). This improvement was maintained at the 48th month. However, the average score was similar to baseline at the 60th month (1st-36th month, P<0.001; 48th month, P=0.008; 60th month, P=0.109). The average GSRS score was significantly improved during the first 24 months, but not afterwards (1st-24th month, P<0.001; 36th month, P=0.209; 48th month, P=0.996; 60th month, P=0.668). The adverse events recorded during treatment included abdominal distension in 21 cases (6.4%), nausea in 14 cases (4.3%), vomiting in 9 cases (2.7%), abdominal pain in 15 cases (4.6%), diarrhea in 18 cases (5.5%), fever in 13 cases (4.0%), and excitement in 24 cases (7.3%). All adverse reactions were mild to moderate and improved immediately after suspension of FMT or on treatment of symptoms. No serious adverse reactions occurred. Conclusion: FMT has satisfactory long-term efficacy and safety for the treatment of ASD with gastrointestinal symptoms.

Abstract
Objective: To summarize and analyze the clinical effect of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) combined with nutritional support and psychotherapy in patients with "Tetralogy of Tongji" (comprising chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction, mental and psychological disorders, malnutrition, and endocrine disorders). Methods: A longitudinal study was conducted. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) patients were under 70 years of age; (2) patients exhibited chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction (in accordance with the Rome IV diagnostic criteria for irritable bowel syndrome ie. chronic functional constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and abdominal distention) with onset occurring more than one year previously; (3) patients exhibited malnutrition (body mass index ≤ 18.5 kg/m2); (4) patients exhibited depression, anxiety, or state as diagnosed by a psychologist using the Hamilton anxiety rating scale (HAMA) and the Hamilton depression scale (HAMD); (5) patients were women of childbearing age with amenorrhea or menstrual disorder with a duration ≥6 months. Patients were excluded if they exhibited gastrointestinal bleeding, short bowel syndrome, radiation-induced intestinal injury, intestinal obstruction or inflammatory bowel disease, recurrent/metastatic tumors, systemic infectious diseases, life-threatening systemic comorbidities, intorlerate to nasojejunal, percutaneous gastrostomy / jejunostomy or FMT. The clinical data of 43 patients at Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital exhibiting the "Tetralogy of Tongji" and who received microflora transplantation combined with nutritional support and psychotherapy from June 2017 to June 2021 was prospectively collected. There were 12 males and 31 females with a mean age of 35.2±16.7 years. All 43 patients had chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction. Of these, 24 patients had depression and 19 had anxiety. There were 26 women of reproductive age, including 13 cases of menstrual disorder and 9 cases of amenorrhea. The treatment intervention was a combination of FMT (microflora solution or microflora capsule), nutritional support (enteral nutrition) and psychological intervention. The following were assessed before treatment and 1, 3, 6 months after treatment: (1) gastrointestinal function was assessed using the gastrointestinal symptoms rating scale (GSRS), where a higher score is indicative of more serious gastrointestinal symptoms, and the gastrointestinal quality of life index (GIQLI), where a higher score is indicative of higher quality of life; (2) psychological status was assessed using HAMA and HAMD scores, where a lower score is indicative of reduced severity of anxiety or depression symptoms, respectively; (3) nutritional status was assessed by measurements of total blood protein, albumin, fibrinogen and prealbumin, as well as measurements of body mass and body mass index (BMI); (4) neuroendocrine function was assessed by measurement of blood levels of cortisol, dopamine and noradrenaline, as well as menstruation in women of reproductive age. Results: The follow-up rates at 1, 3 and 6 months after treatment were 90.7% (39/43), 72.1% (31/43) and 55.8% (24/43), respectively. The total effective rate for chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction was 81.4% (35/43), of which the average GSRS score decreased from 29.35±3.56 before treatment to 18.25±2.56 in the sixth month (P<0.001). The average GIQLI score increased from 56.23±10.34 before treatment to 91.04±20.39 in the sixth month (P<0.001). All patients had malnutrition before treatment. After 6 months, their body weight had increased from 40.61±8.88 kg to 50.45±6.23 kg (P<0.001), and BMI had increased from 15.17±1.87 kg/m2 to 19.58±1.42 kg/m2 (P<0.001). The average total protein level was 60.99± 5.99 g/L before treatment. After 6 months, this had increased to 64.21±4.23 g/L (F=2.715, P=0.022). The average prealbumin level increased from 150.14±56.04 mg/L before treatment to 258.17±86.94 mg/L after 6 months (F=15.124, P<0.001). In this study, 24 patients with depression/depressed state were included. After treatment, the average HAMD score in these patients decreased from 22.79±6.63 before treatment to 9.92±7.24 after 6 months (P<0.001). There were 19 patients with anxiety disorder/anxiety state. After treatment, the average HAMA score in these patients decreased from 17.15±4.34 before treatment to 7.73±4.10 after 6 months (P<0.001). Observing the endocrine efficacy of 26 women of childbearing age, it was found that the effective rate of this treatment on endocrine regulation was 69.2% (18/26). Although there was no significant change in blood cortisol levels after 6 months, average blood dopamine levels decreased from 32.91±10.65 nmol/L before treatment to 13.02±5.58 nmol/L after 6 months (P<0.001). Average blood norepinephrine levels decreased from 49.75±15.23 ng/L before treatment to 19.21±9.58 ng/L after 6 months (P<0.001). Conclusion: The strategy of FMT combined with nutritional support and psychological intervention is effective in improving the symptoms of the "Tetralogy of Tongji".

Abstract
Objective: To explore and establish the preparation system of human intestinal fluid transplantation (HIFT) and HIFT capsule, and to preliminarily apply it to clinic. Methods: Strict standards for donor screening and management were established. The nasojejunal tube was catheterized into the distal jejunum, and then it was connected with an improved disposable sterile negative pressure collection device for the collection of human intestinal fluid. After that, it was prepared into capsules by filtering, adding 10% glycerin protectant and freeze-drying method. The amount of living bacteria was used as the standard of therapeutic dose. The living bacteria amount in fluid is ≥ 5.0×108 /mL and the living bacteria proportion is ≥ 83%; the living bacteria amount in powder is ≥ 2.0×106 /g and the living bacteria proportion is ≥ 81%; The observational indicators included: (1) the basic information of the donor, the amount of living bacteria in the HIF and powder. (2) Preliminary analysis of the treatment for ASD, which combined HIFT capsule with standard FMT capsule, from February to December 2021 (Clinical trial Registration Number: ChiCTR2100043929). Evaluation criteria: Trypan blue staining method was used to detect the living bacteria amount in fluid and powder. The Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) and Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) were used to evaluate the efficacy. Results: Compared with the parent donor, the standard donor was younger [(25.4±0.9) y vs. (30.7±3.2) y, t=-19.097, P=0.001] and had a lower body mass index [(19.7±0.5) kg/m2 vs. (20.8±1.3) kg/m2, t=-8.726, P=0.001], more in the living bacteria amount in powder [(7.47±1.52)×106/g vs. (5.03±1.38)×106/g, t=11.331, P=0.031], Chao index (205.4±6.8 vs. 194.2±7.2, t=10.415, P=0.001), and Shannon index (3.25±0.14 vs 2.72±0.27, t=19.465, P=0.001). The differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in gender, drainage volume and total number of bacterial liquid colonies between the two groups (all P>0.05). Both the standard donor and the parent donor met the donor screening criteria, and the preparation fluid and powder met the treatment criteria. Eight patients received the treatment of HIFT combined with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Preliminary statistical results showed that HIFT combined with FMT improved ABC and CARS at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th months. The differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). No severe adverse reaction occurred. Conclusion: Based on the previous research on FMT preparation system and the clinical technology in our center, this study developed a high standard HIFT preparation system, and explored the clinical study of HIFT combined with FMT, in order to provide an innovative therapy for the treatment of diseases.

Abstract
Background The optimum timing to wean is crucial to avoid negative outcomes for mechanically ventilated patients. The rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI), a widely used weaning index, has limitations in predicting weaning outcomes. By replacing the tidal volume of the RSBI with diaphragmatic excursion (DE) and diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF) assessed by ultrasonography, we calculated two weaning indices, the diaphragmatic excursion rapid shallow breathing index (DE-RSBI, respiratory rate [RR]/DE) and the diaphragm thickening fraction rapid shallow breathing index (DTF-RSBI, RR/DTF). The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive values of DTF-RSBI, DE-RSBI and traditional RSBI in weaning failure. Methods This prospective observational study included patients undergoing mechanical ventilation (MV) for > 48 h and who were readied for weaning. During a pressure support ventilation (PSV) spontaneous breathing trial (SBT), right hemidiaphragmatic excursion and DTF were measured by bedside ultrasonography as well as RSBI. Weaning failure was defined as: (1) failing the SBT and (2) SBT success but inability to maintain spontaneous breathing for more than 48 h without noninvasive or invasive ventilation. A receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was used for analyzing the diagnostic accuracy of RSBI, DE-RSBI, and DTF-RSBI. Results Of the 110 patients studied, 37 patients (33.6%) failed weaning. The area under the ROC (AUROC) curves for RSBI, DE-RSBI, and DTF-RSBI for predicting failed weaning were 0.639, 0.813, and 0.859, respectively. The AUROC curves for DE-RSBI and DTF-RSBI were significantly higher than for RSBI (P = 0.004 and P < 0.001, respectively). The best cut-off values for predicting failed weaning were RSBI > 51.2 breaths/min/L, DE-RSBI > 1.38 breaths/min/mm, and DTF-RSBI > 78.1 breaths/min/%. Conclusions In this study, two weaning indices determined by bedside ultrasonography, the DE-RSBI (RR/DE) and DTF-RSBI (RR/DTF), were shown to be more accurate than the traditional RSBI (RR/VT) in predicting weaning outcome during a PSV SBT. Abstract
UNLABELLED Scanner mismatch occurs frequently with follow-up dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans. Nearly one-in-five follow-up DXA scans were conducted on non-cross-calibrated scanners (scanner mismatch) and more than a quarter of patients who had a follow-up DXA scan had experienced scanner mismatch. INTRODUCTION Detecting significant changes in bone mineral density (BMD) with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanners relies on the least significant change (LSC). Results from two different DXA scanners can only be compared, albeit with decreased sensitivity for change, if the LSC between the two scanners has been directly determined through cross-calibration. Performing follow-up DXA scans on non-cross-calibrated scanners (scanner mismatch) has safety and economic implications. This study aims to determine the proportion of scanner mismatch occurring at a population level. METHODS All patients who completed at least two DXA scans between 1 April 2009 and 31 December 2018 in the province of Alberta, Canada, were identified using population-based health services databases. Scanner mismatch was defined as a follow-up DXA scan completed on a DXA scanner that differed from and was not cross-calibrated to the previous DXA scanner. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to assess predictive factors that may contribute to scanner mismatch. RESULTS A total of 264,866 patients with 470,641 follow-up DXA scans were identified. Scanner mismatch occurred in 18.9% of follow-up DXA scans; 28.7% of patients experienced at least one scanner mismatch. Longer duration between scans (OR 1.25, 95% CI 1.24-1.26) and major osteoporotic fracture history before index scan (OR 1.06, 95% CI 1.03-1.08) increased risk of scanner mismatch. Osteoporosis medication use before index scan (OR 0.89; 95% CI 0.88-0.91), recency of follow-up scans (OR 0.98, 95% CI 0.73-0.98), female sex (OR 0.97, 95% CI 0.94-1.00), and age at last scan (OR 0.99, 95% CI 0.99-1.00) were associated with lower risk of scanner mismatch. CONCLUSION Scanner mismatch is a common problem, occurring in one-in-five follow-up DXA scans and affecting more than a quarter of patients. Interventions to reduce this large proportion of scanner mismatch are necessary.

Abstract
Traumatic optic neuropathy (TON) is the major contributor to optic nerve damage, where the retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) are substantially lost. However, the underlying pathological mechanisms for these conditions remain largely elusive. Present work conducted a study on TON rat model, where the iron-dependent cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) overexpression and lipid peroxidation were observed in RGCs, suggesting ferroptosis, an iron-dependent non-apoptotic cell death, is involved in TON-induced death of RGCs. Hence, the newly formulated hyaluronic acid (HA)-based deferoxamine (DFO) nanoparticles (DFO-NPs) were intravitreally administrated in the rat model. It was hypothesized that the effective delivery of DFO, iron chelator, to the RGCs might rescue RGC ferroptosis from TON-induced injury. Also, since DFO is poor in bioavailability and of very short half-life in vivo, its safe and efficient intravitreal delivery is critical. Therefore, DFO-NPs were prepared by chemical grafting DFO onto HA molecules, and then crosslinking them in microemulsion bubbles for nanoparticles formulation. The nanoparticles were highly accumulated around the ganglionic cells and DFO uptake was increased in RGCs, accompanied by the significantly inhibited the overexpression of COX-2 and inactivation of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4). These results indicate that DFO-NPs acted as an effective ferroptosis inhibitor, for the prevention of TON-induced RGC death. The current study provides new insights into the underlying mechanism of TON-induced RGC death, which may help to explore a novel strategy for the treatment of TON.

Abstract
BackgroundImmune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICI) have altered the landscape of cancer therapy. However, toxicities are common and up to 80% of patients will develop immune-related adverse events (irAE), including rheumatic irAEs (Rh-irAE), which can often limit their cancer treatment. Our knowledge of clinical manifestations and optimal management of patients with Rh-irAE continues to evolve as these agents are being used to treat a wider variety of cancers. Currently available data is limited to retrospective case series and case reports. There is also scarce data on the use of ICI in patients with pre-existing autoimmune disease (PAD) as these patients are often excluded from clinical trials.ObjectivesTo describe the clinical presentation, management and early outcomes of patients exposed to ICI with Rh-irAE or PAD recruited and followed prospectively from multiple sites across Canada.MethodsAdult patients with Rh-irAE from cancer immunotherapy (CTLA-4, PD-1 or PDL-1 inhibitors) or those with PAD exposed to cancer immunotherapy are prospectively recruited across 9 academic sites in Canada. Standardized clinical and biologic data are also collected. We describe clinical characteristics and management of patients recruited between January 2020 and October 2021, stratified based on the presence or absence of PAD.Results103 patients were recruited from 9 sites. From those, 85 had Rh-irAE, 47 had pre-existing musculoskeletal and rheumatic diseases, and 20 had other PAD. The most frequent Rh-irAE were joint manifestations (n = 73). Other Rh-irAE included muscle symptoms (n = 7), connective tissue disease (n = 6), vasculitis (n=2) and sarcoid (n = 3). Prednisone was the most common treatment (n = 53). Intraarticular corticosteroids were used in 7 patients. Eleven patients required conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARD) and only one required biologic DMARD to control the Rh-irAE. Anti-PD-1 therapies were the most used ICI (56.3%), followed by combination therapy (35.9%). Response to index immunotherapy at 6 months was available for 21 patients. Most patients had partial response (57.1%) and only 4 patients had tumor progression (19.1%). The ICI was permanently discontinued due to an irAE in 21 patients (38.1% with PAD and 61.9% without PAD). There were no deaths related to Rh-irAE.ConclusionThe initial sample of the CanRIO prospective national cohort suggests that demographic characteristics and tumor representation in people with PAD and without PAD is similar. Patients with PAD are less likely to receive combination therapy (n= 12 vs. n=25) and are less likely to have tumor progression on ICI (n=1) compared to those without PAD (n=3). Selection bias is noted in this initial sample since half of recruited patients have PAD. Abstract
UNLABELLED Fractures are associated with increased long-term mortality in patients surviving to undergo baseline DXA. Notably, excess mortality risk does not decline with increasing time since prior hip or humerus fractures, even after accounting for comorbid medical conditions and other risk factors. INTRODUCTION Mortality risk increases following most types of fracture. In routine clinical practice, patients with prior fractures seen for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan (DXA) are "survivors;" whether they remain at increased mortality risk is unknown. We tested the association between prior fracture and all-cause mortality, stratified by time since fracture, in patients undergoing baseline DXA. METHODS We conducted a DXA registry-based cohort study and linked to population-based health services data for the Province of Manitoba, Canada. We identified women and men ≥ 40 years with minimum 10 years of prior healthcare coverage undergoing baseline DXA and ascertained prior fracture codes since 1984 and mortality to 2017. Time since prior fracture was calculated between the clinical encounter for the fracture and baseline DXA (index date). Cox proportional hazards models estimated hazard ratios for all-cause mortality in those with compared to those without prior fracture adjusted for (1) age and sex, and (2) age, sex, comorbidities, and other covariates. RESULTS The study cohort consisted of 74,474 individuals (mean age 64.6 years, 89.7% female). During mean follow-up 9.2 years, we ascertained 14,923 (20.0%) deaths. Except for forearm fractures, all fracture sites were associated with increased mortality risk compared to those without prior fracture, even after multivariable adjustment. Excess mortality risk tended to decline slightly with time since fracture and was no longer significant > 10 years after vertebral fracture. However, excess mortality persisted > 10 years following hip or humerus fracture. CONCLUSIONS Prior fractures are associated with increased long-term mortality in patients surviving to undergo baseline DXA. Excess mortality risk does not decline with time since prior hip or humerus fractures, after accounting for potential confounders. Fracture prevention may have important long-term benefits preserving life expectancy.

Abstract
BackgroundClinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) disease activity score (DAS) are measuring different aspects of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), they are essential in disease activity assessment. The radiomics was on facilitating readings by clinical specialists via enhancing the medical images in which subtle data differences could be distinguished.ObjectivesIf the additional information of MRI imaging can be considered as a predictor for axSpA disease activity? In this study, we sought to construct a nomogram integrating the sacroiliac joint (SIJ)- MRI radiomics features and the inflammatory biomarkers to assess disease activity and compare it with clinical disease acitivity index in axSpA patients.Methods203 patients data were collected prospectively and confirmed as axSpA were randomly divided into training (n = 143) and validation cohorts (n = 60). 1316 radiomics features were extracted from the 3.0T SIJ-MRI. A Nomogram model was constructed using multivariate logistic regression analysis Incorporating independent clinical factors and radiomics features score (Rad-score). The performance of clinics, Rad-score and nomogram models were evaluated by ROC analysis, calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA), and compared with the disease activity index(Ankylosing Spondylitis DAS (ASDAS)-C reactive protein (CRP), ASDAS-erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI)) and Spondyloarthritis Research Consortium of Canada (SPARCC) MRI scoring system.ResultsThe Rad-score allowed a good discrimination in the training (AUC, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.85-0.96) and the validation cohort (AUC, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.73-0.96). The CRP-radiomics nomogram model also showed favorable discrimination in the training (AUC, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.93-0.99) and the validation cohort (AUC, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.80-0.98), better than BASDAI(AUC, 0.58), ASDAS-CRP(AUC, 0.72), ASDAS-ESR(AUC, 0.77), ESR(AUC, 0.72), CRP(AUC, 0.77) and BASFI(AUC, 0.73), had no statistical difference with SPARCC(AUC, 0.87). Calibration curves and DCA demonstrated the nomogram fit well (p > 0.05) and was useful for activity evaluation.ConclusionRad-score showed good discriminative ability to assess disease activity in axSpA. Abstract
BackgroundBone marrow oedema (BMO) of the sacroiliac joints (SIJs) is evaluated to diagnose, classify and monitor disease activity in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). Available quantitative methodologies rely on human visual assessment, and errors can’t be completely avoided. Radiomics can extract and select discriminative and quantified features from regions of interest (ROIs), making a more accurate and objective description of BMO.ObjectivesTo develop a more objective and efficient method based on radiomics to evaluate BMO of the SIJs by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with axSpA in comparison with Spondyloarthritis Research Consortium of Canada (SPARCC) scoring system.MethodsFrom September 2013 to July 2021, 523 patients with axSpA underwent 3.0T SIJ-MRI were included, who were randomly classified as training cohort(n=367) and validation cohort(n=156). The optimal radiomics features, selected from the 3.0T SIJ-MRI in the training cohort, were included to build the radiomics model. Four clinical risk predictors were adopted to build the clinical model. The performance of the clinical and radiomics models was evaluated by ROC analysis and decision curve analysis (DCA). Rad-scores were calculated by the radiomics model and SPARCC scores were performed to quantify the BMO of SIJs. We also assessed the correlation between Rad-score and SPARCC score.ResultsThe radiomics model, built by 15 optimal features, showed favorable discrimination about SPARCC score <2 or ≥2 both in the training (AUC, 0.91; 95% CI: 0.88-0.94) and the validation cohort (AUC, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.84-0.94). DCA confirmed that the radiomics model was clinically useful. Furthermore, Rad-score has significant correlation with SPARCC score for scoring the status of BMO (rs=0.78, P< 0.001), and moderation correlation for scoring the change (r=0.40, P=0.005).ConclusionThe radiomics can accurately assess the BMO of the SIJs in axSpA, providing an alternative to SPARCC scoring system. Abstract
Thoracic radiotherapy patients have higher risks of developing radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD). Ionizing radiation generates excessive reactive oxygens species (ROS) causing oxidative stress, while Momordica. charantia and its extract have antioxidant activity. Plant-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) is emerging as novel therapeutic agent. Therefore, we explored the protective effects of Momordica. charantia-derived EVs-like nanovesicles (MCELNs) against RIHD. Using density gradient centrifugation, we successfully isolated MCELNs with similar shape, size, and markers as EVs. Confocal imaging revealed that rat cardiomyocytes H9C2 cells internalized PKH67 labeled MCELNs time-dependently. In vitro assay identified that MCELNs promoted cell proliferation, suppressed cell apoptosis, and alleviated the DNA damage in irradiated (16 Gy, X-ray) H9C2 cells. Moreover, elevated mitochondria ROS in irradiated H9C2 cells were scavenged by MCELNs, protecting mitochondria function with re-balanced mitochondria membrane potential. Furthermore, the phosphorylation of ROS-related proteins was recovered with increased ratios of p-AKT/AKT and p-ERK/ERK in MCELNs treated irradiated H9C2 cells. Last, intraperitoneal administration of MCELNs mitigated myocardial injury and fibrosis in a thoracic radiation mice model. Our data demonstrated the potential protective effects of MCELNs against RIHD. The MCELNs shed light on preventive regime development for radiation-related toxicity.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the association between cigarette smoking and retinal capillary plexus (RCP) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to examine whether potential vascular risk factors could impact their association. METHODS This is a cross-sectional, community-based study. The Jidong Eye Cohort Study included participants aged ≥18 years in the Jidong community (Tangshan city, northern China) from August 2019 to January 2020. All participants underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examination and completed detailed smoking questionnaires. Retinal vessel density in the superficial and deep RCP was automatically measured using OCTA. RESULTS Of the 2598 participants included in the study, 2026 (78.0%) never smoked and 572 (22.0%) had a history of smoking (494 [19.0%] current smokers and 78 [3.0%] former smokers). The median (interquartile range) age was 41 (34-52) years for the non-smoking group and 45 (35-54.5) years for the smoking group. Multivariable analysis showed that smoking history is associated with a low deep RCP vessel density in the parafovea (β, -0.53; 95% confidence interval [CI], -0.82 to -0.24) and four quadrants. Increased smoking pack-years were associated with reduced deep RCP vessel density in the parafovea (p for trend <0.001) and four quadrants. The significant interaction between diabetes and smoking only was found for superficial RCP vessel density in the parafovea (p for interaction = 0.014) and four quadrants except for the temporal quadrants. CONCLUSIONS Cigarette smoking is an independent risk factor for reduced deep RCP vessel density. Our findings imply the potential detrimental effect of smoking on the occurrence of ocular diseases.
